Gerard Arpey's Bio

Gerard Arpey is AMR CEO, Chairman, and President, heading up the company that is the umbrella for American Airlines. Gerard Arpey studied at the University of Texas at Austin, attaining his business administration degree as well as an MBA.

Beginning his professional relationship with American Airlines in 1982, Gerard Arpey started with the company as a financial analyst. After this time he held various management positions, eventually working his way up to the position of CFO. After a few years, Gerard Arpey then was appointed to the positions of President and COO of AMR and American Airlines. Then in 2004, he officially became President and CEO of both AMR and American Airlines.
