Steven Burd's Bio

Steven Burd has been leading change at his company for years, but is now impacting politics and economics on a national level. Steven Burd got his master’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin.

Since graduating, Steven Burd has worked for various retailers including Kohl’s and Safeway. He became Safeway CEO in 1993. Since that time he’s become famous for his unique healthcare policies for its hardworking employees. Although controversial, this program has saved Safeway millions of dollars over the last decade.

In 2010, Steven Burd was named the 6th most creative businessman by Fast Company.
