# Ted Elliott doesn't think he controls anything

Ted Elliott became CEO of [Copado](https://www.copado.com/?ref=ceo.com) in late 2018\. Three months later, he was diagnosed with stage three colorectal cancer. He went to a board meeting and told the room the good news was that the company had just closed a deal with Google, and the bad news was that he might not be there when it was implemented.

"I joke about stuff like that because that's the only way I can deal with it," he said on the CEO.com Podcast in August 2023.

"I don't believe we control anything in life," he told the CEO.com Podcast. "I think we can only influence things. That largely came out of getting cancer four years ago, my third month on the job here, and realizing how little control I have of things."

Copado sells DevOps software for Salesforce to [more than 1,750 brands](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/copado-introduces-agentia-bringing-context-aware-ai-agents-to-salesforce-devops-302742045.html?ref=ceo.com), including Coca-Cola, Medtronic, T-Mobile, and Volkswagen, and is backed by Insight Partners, SoftBank, IBM, Capgemini, and Salesforce Ventures. Two engineers in Madrid started it while deploying Salesforce and Veeva, staying up all night and getting called first whenever anything broke. Elliott met them as an investor. Asked to describe the product, he used none of the category language.

"You get to go home for dinner and less divorces."

He had spent 18 years running Jobscience before that, [one of the first five ISV partners to Salesforce](https://councils.forbes.com/profile/Ted-Elliott-CEO-Copado/40b9c8da-8394-4cce-9886-d5b9819c2051?ref=ceo.com), until Bullhorn bought it in 2018\. Two decades of release nights, then the company that sells the fix.

## August 2023

Copado went all in on AI two weeks after ChatGPT's release. The company was burning $7 million a month. It pointed AI at customer support, watched NPS scores climb, concluded AI could handle half of all cases, and cut the support organization to match.

Eight months later, Elliott sat down for this interview and described the results. Copado had built its own model on the OpenAI stack, trained on the company's own documentation. Frontline support had cut case close time by 60% in under two months. He said the answers going out to customers were three to four times better than what an agent produced alone, and that log files which would have taken a skilled engineer weeks to interpret were being diagnosed in 30 seconds.

"What we're figuring is that the people who are on the frontline support didn't have the time to think fast enough to go read through all of our documentation," he said.

## March 2026

[Writing for the Forbes Technology Council](https://www.forbes.com/councils/forbestechcouncil/2026/03/31/the-age-of-ai-verification-how-2026-is-redefining-software-development/?ref=ceo.com), Elliott laid out what happened six months after the downsizing. Complaints got louder. Accounts started leaving. The AI was still drafting good answers. The team that remained had gone soft on the skills required to tell whether an answer was correct.

"This was a wake-up call," he wrote.

His conclusion is that the bottleneck in software has moved from building to verifying, and that teams will soon spend more than half their time on governance and quality gates while hands-on coding shrinks. He wants training budgets pulled off prompt engineering and put onto code review, security analysis, and architectural validation. He wants agents treated the way you would treat an intern, with defined access rights and human approval points. Humans get fired, computers don't.

The commercial version of that argument is context. In the same piece, Elliott describes a bake-off at Boston Scientific where Copado went against GitHub Copilot and Cursor inside an 18-year-old Salesforce org. He says the other tools were fast and had no idea what they were looking at, and that Copado's AI wrote validated code that reused utilities already sitting in the org. In [a LinkedIn post](https://www.linkedin.com/in/tedelliott/?ref=ceo.com), he passes along a number from S&P Global, which originally came to Copado for compliance: a feature that would previously have cost roughly $50,000 to build came in at $253.

Both numbers are Elliott's. Neither has been independently verified.

In April 2026 Copado shipped [Agentia](https://www.copado.com/agentia?ref=ceo.com), which [puts agents inside the delivery pipeline, grounded in an organization's own metadata and pipelines, with approval gates, audit trails, and role-based access controls](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/copado-introduces-agentia-bringing-context-aware-ai-agents-to-salesforce-devops-302742045.html?ref=ceo.com). The company calls the category AgentOps.

Copado is not alone there. Mitch Ashley, vice president and practice lead for software lifecycle engineering at the Futurum Group, [told DevOps.com](https://devops.com/copado-brings-ai-agents-to-devops-platform-for-building-custom-salesforce-apps/?ref=ceo.com) that teams need platforms that can both govern agents and prove what shipped, and that multiple vendors are competing to own the agent control plane inside Salesforce.

## New Orleans

Elliott's wife had a heart attack in 2018\. She asked him to go find a job because having him around the house was stressing her out, which is how he ended up at Copado. After his cancer went into remission, she had a stroke. His father died in November 2022.

He moved to New Orleans, where his mother is from and where his parents had gone back to. He had told his wife that if he did not make it, they should move there to be near family. When she woke up from the stroke, she told him they did not need to die first.

He stopped drinking. He was told the cancer probably traced back to too much barbecue and alcohol, and he found quitting easy. "It would almost be like if they told you, 'This is a chalice of poison. Would you like to have some?'"

On a camping trip, he told a man about his own age what the early signs had been. Three months later the man called to say he had the same thing and was being treated.

Every CEO.com Podcast interview ends on the same question, built on the premise that the chances one gives matter as much as the chances one takes. Elliott named his father, whom he worked with for more than 20 years and with whom he started three businesses. They had lunch two or three times a week. Years earlier, he complained to a monthly CEO group in San Francisco that his father was holding him back and that he did not really want to be there. The room told him he was lucky.

The day his father died, Elliott opened his computer. The last email he had sent was to his best friend. The last file he had opened was a project the two of them were working on together.

00:00:29.055 --> 00:00:32.058
I'm<00:00:30.340> the<00:00:30.436> CEO<00:00:30.693> of<00:00:30.757> a<00:00:30.837> company<00:00:31.094> called<00:00:31.319> Copado.

00:00:32.748 --> 00:00:53.369
It<00:00:33.150> was<00:00:33.327> originally<00:00:33.728> started<00:00:34.130> by<00:00:34.370> two<00:00:34.611> guys<00:00:34.852> in<00:00:34.932> Madrid<00:00:35.800> who<00:00:35.880> were<00:00:35.992> trying<00:00:36.362> to<00:00:36.458> do<00:00:37.020> deployments<00:00:37.807> of<00:00:38.385> Salesforce<00:00:39.349> and<00:00:39.574> Viva,<00:00:40.473> which<00:00:40.698> were<00:00:40.939> two<00:00:41.115> pieces<00:00:41.501> of<00:00:41.597> enterprise<00:00:41.999> software,<00:00:43.990> and<00:00:44.648> they<00:00:44.889> were<00:00:44.970> staying<00:00:45.275> up<00:00:45.516> all<00:00:45.773> night<00:00:46.961> and<00:00:47.041> they<00:00:47.202> hated<00:00:47.443> their<00:00:47.603> jobs,<00:00:49.290> and<00:00:49.370> they<00:00:49.466> were<00:00:49.627> finding<00:00:50.093> out<00:00:50.269> that<00:00:50.494> it<00:00:50.590> was<00:00:50.831> really<00:00:51.136> difficult<00:00:51.714> to<00:00:51.747> deploy<00:00:52.196> software<00:00:52.742> without<00:00:52.903> it<00:00:53.080> breaking.

00:00:54.267 --> 00:01:06.438
And<00:00:54.828> so<00:00:54.989> they<00:00:55.165> decided<00:00:55.470> to<00:00:55.502> start<00:00:55.806> a<00:00:55.887> company<00:00:56.287> that<00:00:56.448> would<00:00:56.672> automate<00:00:57.089> the<00:00:57.169> process<00:00:58.115> of<00:00:58.468> deploying<00:00:58.917> software<00:01:01.002> and<00:01:01.884> found<00:01:02.124> out<00:01:02.461> that<00:01:02.605> everyone<00:01:03.728> had<00:01:03.888> the<00:01:03.920> same<00:01:04.209> problem<00:01:04.770> who<00:01:04.850> was<00:01:04.963> doing<00:01:05.123> the<00:01:05.203> same<00:01:05.460> type<00:01:05.668> of<00:01:05.732> work<00:01:05.909> they<00:01:06.069> were<00:01:06.213> doing.

00:01:07.897 --> 00:01:12.563
And<00:01:08.955> they<00:01:09.677> brought<00:01:09.853> this<00:01:10.142> idea<00:01:10.415> to<00:01:10.543> the<00:01:10.623> United<00:01:10.864> States<00:01:11.281> in<00:01:11.361> 2019.

00:01:13.109 --> 00:01:21.919
I<00:01:13.141> met<00:01:13.429> them<00:01:14.327> first<00:01:14.712> as<00:01:14.888> an<00:01:14.953> investor,<00:01:15.770> and<00:01:15.915> then<00:01:16.059> as<00:01:16.155> we<00:01:16.235> got<00:01:16.412> talking,<00:01:17.550> I<00:01:17.631> became<00:01:18.080> interested<00:01:18.400> in<00:01:18.480> this<00:01:18.657> idea<00:01:18.961> of<00:01:19.042> people<00:01:19.314> getting<00:01:19.571> to<00:01:19.603> go<00:01:19.763> home<00:01:19.940> for<00:01:20.084> dinner<00:01:21.048> on<00:01:21.161> release<00:01:21.548> days.

00:01:22.581 --> 00:01:24.711
Um,<00:01:23.872> why<00:01:24.033> is<00:01:24.114> that<00:01:24.195> important?

00:01:25.179 --> 00:01:35.567
A<00:01:25.260> lot<00:01:25.470> of<00:01:25.502> times<00:01:25.744> the<00:01:25.809> IT<00:01:26.148> department<00:01:26.470> or<00:01:26.632> the<00:01:26.713> developers<00:01:27.261> have<00:01:27.423> to<00:01:27.455> stay<00:01:27.762> at<00:01:27.923> the<00:01:28.068> office<00:01:28.407> all<00:01:28.488> night,<00:01:29.940> and<00:01:30.005> when<00:01:30.070> things<00:01:30.344> break,<00:01:30.975> they're<00:01:31.056> the<00:01:31.298> first<00:01:31.557> people<00:01:31.864> you<00:01:31.961> call<00:01:32.139> in<00:01:32.188> the<00:01:32.285> morning,<00:01:32.608> and<00:01:32.673> that<00:01:32.770> creates<00:01:33.174> a<00:01:33.239> lot<00:01:33.562> of,<00:01:33.885> uh,<00:01:35.114> a<00:01:35.130> lot<00:01:35.260> of<00:01:35.357> pain.

00:01:36.402 --> 00:01:46.745
Um,<00:01:36.806> and<00:01:37.032> I<00:01:37.760> had<00:01:37.938> lived<00:01:38.164> a<00:01:38.245> lot<00:01:38.358> of<00:01:38.487> that<00:01:38.665> pain<00:01:38.924> over<00:01:39.053> the<00:01:39.150> last<00:01:39.457> 20<00:01:39.683> years<00:01:40.282> building<00:01:40.605> software,<00:01:41.963> um,<00:01:42.528> and<00:01:42.625> so<00:01:42.884> it<00:01:42.949> became<00:01:43.741> really<00:01:44.145> kind<00:01:44.323> of<00:01:44.387> a<00:01:44.468> fascinating<00:01:44.969> idea<00:01:45.163> to<00:01:45.374> me<00:01:45.616> to<00:01:45.697> be<00:01:45.859> able<00:01:46.036> to<00:01:46.150> solve<00:01:46.337> that<00:01:46.439> problem.

00:01:47.568 --> 00:01:51.972
Um,<00:01:48.294> and,<00:01:49.827> and<00:01:49.940> so<00:01:50.166> I<00:01:50.246> kind<00:01:50.391> of<00:01:50.488> fell<00:01:50.617> in<00:01:50.650> love<00:01:50.891> with<00:01:51.053> the<00:01:51.198> idea<00:01:51.311> of<00:01:51.440> what<00:01:51.537> we<00:01:51.601> were<00:01:51.763> doing.

00:01:52.021 --> 00:02:02.974
And<00:01:52.166> I<00:01:52.263> think<00:01:52.424> today<00:01:53.150> the<00:01:53.473> way<00:01:53.618> I<00:01:53.779> think<00:01:53.940> about<00:01:54.118> Copado<00:01:54.683> is<00:01:54.925> we're<00:01:55.166> basically<00:01:57.126> allowing<00:01:57.929> innovators<00:01:58.909> to<00:01:59.006> spend<00:01:59.295> more<00:01:59.375> of<00:01:59.472> their<00:01:59.632> time<00:02:00.018> innovating,<00:02:01.303> um,<00:02:01.480> than<00:02:01.576> spend<00:02:01.866> their<00:02:02.026> time<00:02:02.348> fixing<00:02:02.749> things.

00:02:03.713 --> 00:02:11.447
I<00:02:03.745> mean,<00:02:03.890> we<00:02:04.035> do<00:02:04.211> that<00:02:04.452> by<00:02:04.934> basically,<00:02:05.882> um,<00:02:06.300> giving<00:02:06.541> them<00:02:06.670> a<00:02:06.702> process,<00:02:08.133> um,<00:02:08.230> for<00:02:08.375> how<00:02:08.551> they<00:02:09.114> consistently<00:02:09.629> deliver<00:02:10.707> their<00:02:10.868> work<00:02:11.045> product.

00:02:11.608 --> 00:02:20.242
So<00:02:12.090> that<00:02:12.267> sounds<00:02:12.637> probably<00:02:12.959> really<00:02:13.200> arcane<00:02:13.538> and<00:02:13.683> boring,<00:02:14.085> but<00:02:14.582> To<00:02:14.678> me,<00:02:14.902> it<00:02:14.982> really<00:02:15.207> just<00:02:15.367> comes<00:02:15.560> down<00:02:15.784> to<00:02:15.929> you<00:02:16.025> get<00:02:16.153> to<00:02:16.265> go<00:02:16.650> home<00:02:16.698> for<00:02:17.869> dinner<00:02:18.254> and<00:02:18.430> less<00:02:18.671> importance.

00:02:21.060 --> 00:02:23.930
That's<00:02:21.220> a<00:02:21.301> great<00:02:21.477> way<00:02:21.637> of<00:02:21.717> putting<00:02:22.038> it<00:02:22.183> actually,<00:02:22.519> is<00:02:22.664> like,<00:02:22.824> yeah,<00:02:23.145> you're<00:02:23.369> home<00:02:23.546> for<00:02:23.706> dinner.

00:02:24.941 --> 00:02:34.642
So<00:02:25.245> Kobato,<00:02:26.272> it<00:02:26.608> works<00:02:26.849> with<00:02:26.993> like<00:02:27.570> software<00:02:28.436> like<00:02:28.629> Salesforce,<00:02:29.479> Viva,<00:02:30.377> Encino,<00:02:31.884> MuleSoft,<00:02:32.622> Heroku,<00:02:33.504> SAP,<00:02:34.081> ServiceNow.

00:02:35.091 --> 00:02:37.160
I<00:02:35.123> might<00:02:35.428> be<00:02:35.524> saying<00:02:35.829> some<00:02:36.005> of<00:02:36.069> those<00:02:36.310> wrong.

00:02:37.320 --> 00:02:41.089
Yeah,<00:02:38.058> all<00:02:38.218> these<00:02:38.395> pieces<00:02:38.715> of<00:02:38.779> software<00:02:39.277> that<00:02:39.501> you<00:02:40.062> use<00:02:40.319> for<00:02:40.559> enterprise.

00:02:42.300 --> 00:02:42.541
Applications.

00:02:42.880 --> 00:02:44.800
That's<00:02:43.219> really<00:02:43.461> the<00:02:43.525> area<00:02:43.864> that<00:02:44.025> we<00:02:44.267> focus<00:02:44.751> in.

00:02:45.800 --> 00:02:49.541
Isn't<00:02:45.961> it<00:02:46.058> incredible<00:02:46.525> how<00:02:46.622> many<00:02:46.848> companies<00:02:47.332> have<00:02:47.493> been<00:02:47.719> built<00:02:48.122> on<00:02:48.283> top<00:02:48.687> of<00:02:48.864> Salesforce?

00:02:51.110 --> 00:02:53.648
Or<00:02:51.367> like<00:02:51.624> with,<00:02:52.411> with<00:02:52.588> Salesforce<00:02:53.230> integrations?

00:02:53.696 --> 00:03:01.689
I<00:02:53.728> know,<00:02:54.017> like<00:02:54.178> I<00:02:54.274> was<00:02:54.371> seeing<00:02:54.740> that<00:02:54.917> like<00:02:55.078> prior<00:02:55.335> to<00:02:55.479> this,<00:02:56.122> you<00:02:56.267> were<00:02:57.150> the<00:02:57.230> CEO<00:02:57.552> of<00:02:57.648> JobScience<00:02:59.399> and,<00:03:00.524> you<00:03:00.604> know,<00:03:00.910> working<00:03:01.023> with<00:03:01.186> Salesforce.

00:03:01.754 --> 00:03:09.436
It's<00:03:01.917> interesting,<00:03:02.404> like<00:03:02.729> that's<00:03:03.135> such<00:03:03.395> a<00:03:04.028> strong<00:03:05.636> ecosystem<00:03:06.546> and<00:03:06.644> so<00:03:06.806> many<00:03:07.033> companies<00:03:08.809> are<00:03:08.986> part<00:03:09.227> of<00:03:09.323> it.

00:03:10.175 --> 00:03:31.235
Yeah,<00:03:10.335> I<00:03:10.432> think<00:03:10.914> the<00:03:11.074> reason<00:03:11.476> why<00:03:11.701> is<00:03:11.733> it<00:03:11.878> allows<00:03:12.440> people<00:03:12.761> to<00:03:12.922> innovate<00:03:13.404> faster,<00:03:14.753> um,<00:03:15.251> and<00:03:15.331> therefore<00:03:15.797> you<00:03:15.974> invite<00:03:16.359> a<00:03:16.376> whole<00:03:16.681> group<00:03:16.857> of<00:03:16.938> people<00:03:17.420> to<00:03:17.564> the<00:03:17.661> game<00:03:18.046> of<00:03:18.143> innovation<00:03:19.572> who<00:03:19.669> previously<00:03:20.231> haven't<00:03:20.536> had<00:03:20.632> a<00:03:20.649> seat<00:03:20.970> at<00:03:21.098> the<00:03:21.195> table,<00:03:22.464> um,<00:03:23.026> and<00:03:23.347> you<00:03:23.444> create<00:03:23.749> a<00:03:23.765> whole<00:03:23.990> new<00:03:24.102> set<00:03:24.247> of<00:03:24.408> problems<00:03:25.677> by<00:03:25.853> allowing<00:03:26.962> the<00:03:26.994> neophytes<00:03:28.327> to<00:03:28.745> come<00:03:28.921> to<00:03:29.002> the<00:03:29.130> table,<00:03:30.255> uh,<00:03:30.496> and<00:03:30.576> participate.

00:03:31.315 --> 00:03:39.353
But<00:03:31.620> we're<00:03:31.781> at—<00:03:31.925> we're<00:03:32.118> kind<00:03:32.696> of<00:03:32.761> about<00:03:33.002> to<00:03:33.082> go<00:03:33.259> through<00:03:33.468> another<00:03:33.885> one<00:03:34.030> of<00:03:34.062> those<00:03:34.223> Salesforce-like<00:03:35.732> revolutions<00:03:36.533> with,<00:03:36.998> um,<00:03:37.975> with<00:03:38.376> artificial<00:03:38.856> intelligence.

00:03:39.481 --> 00:03:44.497
We're<00:03:39.561> going<00:03:39.626> to<00:03:39.658> invite<00:03:39.978> a<00:03:40.042> whole<00:03:40.218> bunch<00:03:40.443> of<00:03:40.523> people<00:03:41.340> to<00:03:41.484> exceed<00:03:41.821> their<00:03:41.965> potential,<00:03:43.407> you<00:03:43.439> know,<00:03:43.503> by<00:03:43.727> leveraging<00:03:44.208> AI.

00:03:45.089 --> 00:04:01.161
And,<00:03:46.387> and<00:03:46.467> I<00:03:46.548> think<00:03:46.724> it's<00:03:46.852> a<00:03:46.932> fascinating<00:03:47.509> time<00:03:47.893> to<00:03:47.990> be<00:03:48.951> in<00:03:49.111> tech,<00:03:50.057> um,<00:03:50.858> and<00:03:51.354> Salesforce<00:03:51.995> just<00:03:52.220> happens<00:03:52.556> to<00:03:52.636> be<00:03:52.957> one<00:03:53.053> of<00:03:53.101> those<00:03:53.341> places<00:03:53.902> where<00:03:54.880> if<00:03:55.024> you<00:03:55.120> know<00:03:55.280> the<00:03:55.440> business<00:03:55.841> problem<00:03:56.161> you're<00:03:56.225> trying<00:03:56.386> to<00:03:56.482> solve,<00:03:57.684> you<00:03:57.844> can<00:03:58.549> solve<00:03:58.821> it<00:03:58.869> a<00:03:58.885> lot<00:03:59.206> faster<00:04:00.071> leveraging<00:04:00.472> their<00:04:00.648> ecosystem.

00:04:01.209 --> 00:04:05.779
And<00:04:01.289> I<00:04:01.369> think<00:04:01.529> that's<00:04:01.834> what<00:04:01.914> attracts<00:04:02.394> kind<00:04:02.571> of<00:04:02.715> a<00:04:03.356> a<00:04:03.372> strange<00:04:03.853> brew<00:04:04.094> of<00:04:04.239> people,<00:04:05.121> uh,<00:04:05.218> to<00:04:05.362> build<00:04:05.538> there.

00:04:07.127 --> 00:04:07.384
Yeah.

00:04:07.705 --> 00:04:10.882
How<00:04:08.026> is<00:04:08.507> artificial<00:04:08.989> intelligence<00:04:09.631> going<00:04:09.727> to<00:04:09.775> affect<00:04:10.256> your<00:04:10.433> business?

00:04:11.219 --> 00:04:19.082
And<00:04:11.315> more<00:04:11.556> broadly,<00:04:12.038> I<00:04:12.054> mean,<00:04:12.262> this<00:04:12.375> is<00:04:12.519> top<00:04:12.776> of<00:04:12.840> mind<00:04:13.081> for<00:04:13.225> everyone<00:04:13.626> right<00:04:13.787> now,<00:04:14.750> uh,<00:04:14.910> just<00:04:15.167> generally<00:04:15.809> the<00:04:15.969> business<00:04:16.435> world,<00:04:16.852> the<00:04:16.996> tech<00:04:17.317> world,<00:04:17.879> and<00:04:18.376> Earth<00:04:18.553> itself.

00:04:19.821 --> 00:04:30.107
Well,<00:04:20.045> I<00:04:20.061> think<00:04:20.286> for<00:04:20.382> me,<00:04:20.864> this<00:04:21.040> is<00:04:21.249> the<00:04:21.586> biggest<00:04:21.971> innovation<00:04:22.533> that<00:04:22.693> I've<00:04:22.886> seen<00:04:23.255> since,<00:04:23.897> um,<00:04:25.341> 1994<00:04:26.400> when<00:04:26.560> a<00:04:26.705> friend<00:04:26.946> of<00:04:27.042> mine<00:04:27.283> showed<00:04:27.523> me<00:04:27.668> the<00:04:27.764> first<00:04:28.149> website<00:04:28.631> for<00:04:28.727> AT&T<00:04:29.289> in<00:04:29.513> Woodstock.

00:04:30.300 --> 00:04:38.580
That<00:04:30.520> he<00:04:30.620> was<00:04:30.780> building<00:04:31.120> on<00:04:31.480> Marina<00:04:31.640> Boulevard<00:04:32.060> in<00:04:32.280> San<00:04:32.460> Francisco<00:04:32.900> at<00:04:33.240> his<00:04:33.460> house,<00:04:34.010> where<00:04:34.560> he<00:04:34.700> had<00:04:34.920> SunSpark<00:04:35.400> servers<00:04:35.820> stacked<00:04:36.180> from<00:04:36.380> the<00:04:36.600> floor<00:04:36.660> to<00:04:36.880> the<00:04:36.881> ceiling<00:04:37.200> and<00:04:37.320> told<00:04:37.500> me<00:04:37.620> the<00:04:37.740> internet<00:04:37.980> was<00:04:38.180> coming.

00:04:38.580 --> 00:04:40.620
And<00:04:38.640> I<00:04:38.760> was<00:04:38.880> like,<00:04:40.320> huh?

00:04:41.300 --> 00:04:55.320
And,<00:04:42.060> and<00:04:42.560> I<00:04:42.740> haven't<00:04:42.940> seen<00:04:43.160> anything<00:04:43.420> that<00:04:43.660> I<00:04:43.740> think<00:04:43.880> is<00:04:44.040> this<00:04:44.240> big,<00:04:44.420> but<00:04:44.500> I<00:04:44.600> think<00:04:44.760> we're<00:04:44.980> fundamentally<00:04:45.460> going<00:04:45.680> to<00:04:45.880> change<00:04:46.980> our<00:04:48.000> relationship<00:04:48.740> with<00:04:49.140> our<00:04:49.460> work<00:04:50.560> because<00:04:51.020> I<00:04:51.180> think<00:04:51.300> we're<00:04:51.500> going<00:04:51.501> to<00:04:51.502> be<00:04:51.620> able<00:04:51.740> to<00:04:51.860> talk<00:04:52.080> to<00:04:52.260> our<00:04:52.420> work<00:04:52.680> for<00:04:52.820> the<00:04:52.960> first<00:04:53.220> time<00:04:53.680> and<00:04:54.120> converse<00:04:54.460> with<00:04:54.660> our<00:04:54.900> work.

00:04:55.320 --> 00:05:06.343
And<00:04:56.420> it's<00:04:57.400> interesting,<00:04:57.740> I've<00:04:57.820> been<00:04:57.940> interviewing<00:04:58.320> people<00:04:58.700> for<00:04:58.940> technical<00:04:59.320> writing<00:04:59.660> positions<00:05:00.060> lately<00:05:01.162> And<00:05:01.307> I<00:05:01.740> start<00:05:02.109> off<00:05:02.285> the<00:05:02.365> interview<00:05:02.831> with,<00:05:03.087> you<00:05:03.167> know,<00:05:03.312> your<00:05:03.488> job<00:05:03.809> is<00:05:03.969> not<00:05:04.130> going<00:05:04.370> to<00:05:04.451> exist<00:05:04.836> as<00:05:04.916> you<00:05:04.948> know<00:05:05.253> it<00:05:05.718> in<00:05:05.974> 5<00:05:06.071> years.

Like,<00:05:07.322> what?

00:05:07.835 --> 00:05:12.968
I'm<00:05:08.364> like,<00:05:08.461> yeah,<00:05:08.701> people<00:05:09.263> need<00:05:09.487> you<00:05:09.567> to<00:05:09.664> write<00:05:09.968> stuff,<00:05:10.385> but<00:05:10.530> they're<00:05:10.610> not<00:05:10.738> going<00:05:10.851> to<00:05:11.011> read<00:05:11.187> it<00:05:11.332> in<00:05:11.428> books<00:05:11.749> and<00:05:11.813> they're<00:05:11.893> not<00:05:12.006> going<00:05:12.086> to<00:05:12.294> read<00:05:12.407> it<00:05:12.471> in<00:05:12.615> manuals.

00:05:13.016 --> 00:05:18.213
They're<00:05:13.080> going<00:05:13.144> to<00:05:13.176> have<00:05:13.289> a<00:05:13.417> conversation<00:05:14.861> with<00:05:14.957> the<00:05:15.101> information<00:05:15.598> that<00:05:15.743> you're<00:05:15.903> feeding<00:05:17.684> to<00:05:17.780> the<00:05:17.924> engine.

00:05:19.592 --> 00:05:28.623
And<00:05:20.571> I<00:05:20.651> was<00:05:21.437> up<00:05:21.614> camping<00:05:22.079> this<00:05:22.255> last<00:05:22.560> weekend<00:05:22.897> with<00:05:23.009> some<00:05:23.298> folks<00:05:23.603> who<00:05:23.875> are<00:05:24.100> lyricists<00:05:24.741> and<00:05:24.886> playwrights,<00:05:25.543> and<00:05:26.105> they're<00:05:26.265> very<00:05:26.666> threatened<00:05:27.147> by<00:05:27.308> the<00:05:27.629> concept<00:05:28.431> of<00:05:28.527> AI.

00:05:29.216 --> 00:05:40.248
And<00:05:31.140> I<00:05:31.317> try<00:05:31.557> to<00:05:31.621> explain<00:05:32.038> to<00:05:32.135> them<00:05:32.263> is<00:05:32.423> I<00:05:32.519> think<00:05:32.760> it's<00:05:32.904> all<00:05:33.016> about<00:05:33.241> exceeding<00:05:33.786> human<00:05:34.043> potential<00:05:35.951> and<00:05:36.047> the<00:05:36.207> ability<00:05:36.688> to<00:05:36.832> allow<00:05:37.394> people<00:05:37.634> to<00:05:37.714> do<00:05:37.955> more<00:05:38.131> than<00:05:38.276> they<00:05:38.372> were<00:05:38.596> able<00:05:39.013> to<00:05:39.173> do<00:05:39.350> in<00:05:39.879> the<00:05:39.959> past.

00:05:40.296 --> 00:05:50.894
And<00:05:40.376> I<00:05:40.456> think<00:05:40.681> if<00:05:40.761> you<00:05:40.921> think<00:05:41.097> about<00:05:41.338> it<00:05:41.482> almost<00:05:41.739> like<00:05:43.647> digging<00:05:44.128> up<00:05:45.170> a<00:05:45.250> trench<00:05:46.148> for<00:05:46.292> your<00:05:46.469> lateral<00:05:46.806> sewer<00:05:47.174> line,<00:05:48.152> a<00:05:48.233> human<00:05:48.537> being<00:05:48.858> is<00:05:48.954> not<00:05:49.179> going<00:05:49.275> to<00:05:49.307> do<00:05:49.435> that<00:05:49.579> with<00:05:49.692> a<00:05:49.756> spoon<00:05:50.076> anymore,<00:05:50.718> right?

00:05:50.958 --> 00:05:52.017
You're<00:05:51.055> not<00:05:51.183> going<00:05:51.295> to<00:05:51.375> do<00:05:51.439> it<00:05:51.503> with<00:05:51.616> a<00:05:51.664> shovel.

00:05:52.065 --> 00:05:52.898
You're<00:05:52.241> going<00:05:52.353> to<00:05:52.401> get<00:05:52.449> a<00:05:52.466> backhoe.

00:05:53.460 --> 00:05:59.779
A<00:05:53.524> backhoe<00:05:54.005> allows<00:05:54.406> a<00:05:54.486> human<00:05:54.806> being<00:05:55.047> to<00:05:55.079> do<00:05:55.352> the<00:05:55.448> work<00:05:55.672> that<00:05:55.752> would<00:05:55.849> take<00:05:56.073> them<00:05:56.233> 3<00:05:56.554> weeks<00:05:57.372> in<00:05:57.452> the<00:05:57.597> afternoon<00:05:58.639> because<00:05:58.800> the<00:05:58.832> machine's<00:05:59.217> assisting<00:05:59.682> them.

00:06:00.260 --> 00:06:09.822
I<00:06:00.340> think<00:06:00.501> very<00:06:00.661> much<00:06:00.966> AI<00:06:01.287> is<00:06:01.399> a<00:06:01.463> similar<00:06:01.864> concept<00:06:02.506> where<00:06:02.747> if<00:06:02.827> you<00:06:02.987> think<00:06:03.164> of<00:06:03.228> your<00:06:03.388> brain<00:06:03.645> as<00:06:03.789> a<00:06:03.854> muscle,<00:06:05.217> your<00:06:05.314> muscle<00:06:05.779> is<00:06:05.875> going<00:06:06.116> to<00:06:06.196> be<00:06:06.340> able<00:06:06.517> to<00:06:07.223> do<00:06:07.319> a<00:06:07.335> lot<00:06:07.640> more<00:06:08.699> if<00:06:08.827> you<00:06:08.923> know<00:06:09.004> what<00:06:09.164> you<00:06:09.244> want<00:06:09.421> to<00:06:09.469> achieve.

00:06:10.752 --> 00:06:30.470
So<00:06:10.913> when<00:06:11.009> it<00:06:11.089> comes<00:06:11.410> to<00:06:12.613> building<00:06:12.998> code,<00:06:13.801> when<00:06:13.913> it<00:06:13.977> comes<00:06:14.154> to<00:06:14.298> testing<00:06:14.699> code,<00:06:15.084> when<00:06:15.164> it<00:06:15.244> comes<00:06:15.421> to<00:06:15.517> documenting<00:06:16.127> code,<00:06:16.929> when<00:06:17.009> it<00:06:17.089> comes<00:06:17.491> to,<00:06:18.453> um,<00:06:18.886> taking<00:06:19.255> the<00:06:19.287> steps<00:06:19.753> and<00:06:19.801> the<00:06:19.897> processes<00:06:20.459> that<00:06:20.555> people<00:06:20.812> don't<00:06:21.020> really<00:06:21.277> want<00:06:21.405> to<00:06:21.517> do<00:06:21.678> that<00:06:21.822> are<00:06:21.919> very<00:06:22.159> repetitive<00:06:23.010> I<00:06:23.230> think<00:06:23.410> when<00:06:23.510> you<00:06:23.650> combine<00:06:23.910> robotics<00:06:24.510> and<00:06:24.770> artificial<00:06:25.110> intelligence,<00:06:26.290> you're<00:06:26.390> going<00:06:26.490> to<00:06:26.510> see<00:06:26.610> a<00:06:26.730> fundamental<00:06:27.090> shift<00:06:27.490> in<00:06:27.650> the<00:06:27.770> next<00:06:28.030> 3<00:06:28.610> to<00:06:28.750> 5<00:06:28.990> years<00:06:29.410> and<00:06:29.890> how<00:06:30.030> to<00:06:30.110> do<00:06:30.230> that.

00:06:30.470 --> 00:06:34.050
And<00:06:30.570> you're<00:06:30.630> also<00:06:30.830> going<00:06:31.010> to<00:06:31.070> change<00:06:31.270> how<00:06:31.510> you<00:06:31.810> engage<00:06:32.450> with<00:06:33.210> your<00:06:33.450> technology.

00:06:34.770 --> 00:06:44.890
You're<00:06:34.810> not—<00:06:35.230> you're<00:06:35.231> going<00:06:35.270> to<00:06:35.310> have<00:06:35.430> really<00:06:35.670> a<00:06:35.830> conversation<00:06:36.610> with<00:06:37.690> your<00:06:37.990> software,<00:06:38.890> and<00:06:39.150> that<00:06:39.550> is<00:06:39.830> going<00:06:40.110> to,<00:06:40.370> I<00:06:40.510> think,<00:06:41.250> just<00:06:41.390> accelerate<00:06:42.030> our<00:06:42.690> entire<00:06:43.050> experience<00:06:43.730> with<00:06:43.990> technology.

00:06:44.890 --> 00:06:50.530
And<00:06:45.130> it's<00:06:45.170> going<00:06:45.310> to<00:06:45.330> be<00:06:45.390> scary<00:06:45.710> because<00:06:45.890> a<00:06:46.030> lot<00:06:46.090> of<00:06:46.310> people,<00:06:47.110> you<00:06:47.450> know,<00:06:48.030> think<00:06:48.190> that<00:06:48.410> it's<00:06:48.630> the<00:06:48.730> Terminator,<00:06:49.330> right,<00:06:49.850> or<00:06:50.050> the<00:06:50.150> Matrix.

00:06:51.403 --> 00:06:57.662
But,<00:06:52.029> but<00:06:52.109> I<00:06:52.157> think<00:06:52.446> it's,<00:06:52.751> uh,<00:06:53.249> I<00:06:53.265> think<00:06:53.489> it's<00:06:53.730> going<00:06:53.971> to<00:06:54.212> really,<00:06:55.319> um,<00:06:55.801> allow<00:06:56.122> people<00:06:56.394> to<00:06:56.683> exceed<00:06:57.085> their<00:06:57.245> potential.

00:06:58.850 --> 00:07:04.628
How<00:06:59.027> do<00:06:59.171> you<00:06:59.251> think<00:07:00.391> that<00:07:00.696> artificial<00:07:01.258> intelligence<00:07:02.076> is<00:07:02.237> so<00:07:02.558> good<00:07:02.814> at<00:07:03.023> on<00:07:03.119> the<00:07:03.264> creative<00:07:03.745> aspect<00:07:04.243> already?

00:07:05.126 --> 00:07:10.278
Like<00:07:05.286> you<00:07:05.366> said,<00:07:05.607> you<00:07:05.752> just<00:07:05.912> mentioned<00:07:06.217> like,<00:07:06.394> hey,<00:07:06.875> I,<00:07:07.132> I,<00:07:07.517> you<00:07:07.549> know,<00:07:07.758> went<00:07:07.918> camping<00:07:08.159> with<00:07:08.255> the<00:07:08.336> playwrights<00:07:09.604> and<00:07:09.780> lyricists.

00:07:10.342 --> 00:07:11.754
Like,<00:07:10.502> that's,<00:07:10.807> that's<00:07:10.984> really<00:07:11.225> interesting.

00:07:12.268 --> 00:07:20.019
Like,<00:07:12.509> it<00:07:12.589> was<00:07:12.990> fascinating<00:07:13.536> to<00:07:13.616> me<00:07:14.274> when<00:07:14.419> I<00:07:14.515> first<00:07:14.900> used<00:07:15.317> ChatGPT-4<00:07:16.906> how<00:07:17.163> kind<00:07:17.323> of<00:07:17.404> like<00:07:17.709> already<00:07:18.527> good<00:07:18.832> at<00:07:19.008> that<00:07:19.570> it<00:07:19.794> was.

00:07:20.131 --> 00:07:25.298
And<00:07:20.212> not<00:07:20.436> great,<00:07:20.934> by<00:07:21.078> the<00:07:21.158> way,<00:07:21.479> you<00:07:21.576> know,<00:07:21.736> like<00:07:21.977> they're,<00:07:22.538> they're<00:07:22.699> gonna<00:07:22.795> be<00:07:22.923> fine,<00:07:23.405> but,<00:07:24.047> uh,<00:07:24.704> for,<00:07:24.945> for<00:07:25.122> now.

00:07:25.427 --> 00:07:27.994
But<00:07:25.667> isn't<00:07:25.844> it<00:07:25.988> fascinating<00:07:26.469> how<00:07:26.790> good<00:07:27.432> it<00:07:27.512> is<00:07:27.657> at<00:07:27.753> that?

00:07:28.716 --> 00:07:28.780
Yeah.

00:07:29.037 --> 00:07:40.269
Um,<00:07:29.277> so<00:07:29.695> sometimes<00:07:30.160> when<00:07:30.256> I'm<00:07:30.465> on<00:07:30.641> calls<00:07:31.107> that<00:07:31.203> are<00:07:31.283> going<00:07:31.524> long<00:07:32.310> and<00:07:32.647> I<00:07:32.743> need<00:07:32.840> to<00:07:32.968> distract<00:07:33.530> myself<00:07:33.931> so<00:07:34.011> I<00:07:34.091> don't<00:07:34.332> interrupt<00:07:34.797> people<00:07:35.038> with<00:07:35.214> all<00:07:35.359> my<00:07:35.519> great<00:07:35.696> ideas,<00:07:36.963> um,<00:07:37.220> I<00:07:37.365> have<00:07:37.461> a<00:07:37.477> laptop<00:07:38.103> on<00:07:38.167> the<00:07:38.199> side<00:07:38.568> and<00:07:38.728> I've<00:07:38.889> been<00:07:39.146> working<00:07:39.450> on<00:07:39.483> a<00:07:39.547> screenplay.

00:07:41.055 --> 00:07:44.393
Um,<00:07:41.649> I'm<00:07:41.777> not<00:07:41.954> a<00:07:41.970> screenwriter,<00:07:42.660> but<00:07:42.708> I<00:07:42.740> always<00:07:43.061> thought<00:07:43.141> it'd<00:07:43.221> be<00:07:43.382> cool<00:07:43.558> to<00:07:43.638> write<00:07:43.703> a<00:07:43.879> screenplay.

00:07:45.146 --> 00:07:51.014

00:09:04.532 --> 00:09:16.411

So<00:10:15.922> I<00:10:16.018> go<00:10:16.179> and<00:10:16.323> have<00:10:16.563> lunch<00:10:16.884> with<00:10:17.044> a—<00:10:17.380> my<00:10:17.525> father<00:10:17.861> died<00:10:18.102> last<00:10:18.374> November,<00:10:18.823> and<00:10:18.903> I<00:10:19.047> go<00:10:19.143> and<00:10:19.223> have<00:10:19.464> lunch<00:10:19.848> on<00:10:19.944> Fridays<00:10:20.489> with<00:10:20.601> a<00:10:20.666> number<00:10:20.906> of<00:10:20.986> his<00:10:21.210> friends<00:10:21.547> in<00:10:21.611> New<00:10:21.787> Orleans,<00:10:22.989> and<00:10:23.133> they<00:10:23.294> were<00:10:23.390> talking<00:10:23.774> about<00:10:24.752> OpenAI<00:10:25.377> and<00:10:25.537> ChatGPT<00:10:26.354> way<00:10:26.594> before<00:10:26.995> my<00:10:27.155> friends<00:10:27.396> in<00:10:27.492> Silicon<00:10:27.940> Valley.

00:10:29.238 --> 00:10:36.528
And<00:10:29.302> then<00:10:29.398> I<00:10:29.478> spent<00:10:29.735> the<00:10:29.815> summer<00:10:30.183> in<00:10:30.264> Silicon<00:10:30.760> Valley,<00:10:32.026> and<00:10:32.843> there's<00:10:33.019> a<00:10:33.084> meetup<00:10:33.949> every<00:10:34.205> night<00:10:34.750> in<00:10:34.846> San<00:10:35.070> Francisco<00:10:35.567> talking<00:10:35.952> about<00:10:36.192> this<00:10:36.320> stuff.

00:10:37.313 --> 00:10:39.300
And<00:10:37.394> so<00:10:37.650> I<00:10:37.730> feel<00:10:38.034> like<00:10:38.211> it's<00:10:38.435> caught<00:10:38.916> wind.

00:10:39.717 --> 00:10:47.151
But<00:10:39.797> then<00:10:39.957> when<00:10:40.037> I<00:10:40.117> go<00:10:40.278> talk<00:10:40.534> to<00:10:40.614> people<00:10:40.838> who<00:10:40.934> are<00:10:41.095> not<00:10:42.120> sort<00:10:42.312> of<00:10:43.162> at<00:10:43.802> ground<00:10:43.979> zero<00:10:44.283> on<00:10:44.379> this<00:10:44.539> stuff,<00:10:45.244> they<00:10:45.277> don't<00:10:45.485> even<00:10:45.565> know<00:10:45.725> what's<00:10:45.965> coming,<00:10:46.863> right?

00:10:47.488 --> 00:10:49.154
And<00:10:47.568> so<00:10:47.648> it's<00:10:47.744> kind<00:10:47.968> of<00:10:48.048> interesting<00:10:48.705> watching.

00:10:49.346 --> 00:10:52.791
Uh,<00:10:50.051> I've<00:10:50.308> seen<00:10:50.548> this<00:10:50.692> happen<00:10:51.029> before,<00:10:51.301> like<00:10:51.509> with<00:10:51.589> the<00:10:51.669> internet<00:10:52.070> back<00:10:52.310> in<00:10:52.374> the<00:10:52.406> '90s.

00:10:54.299 --> 00:11:05.998
But<00:10:54.395> it's<00:10:54.716> very<00:10:54.957> interesting<00:10:55.390> to<00:10:55.486> have<00:10:55.663> a<00:10:55.679> seat<00:10:56.305> at<00:10:56.626> an<00:10:56.883> event<00:10:57.268> that<00:10:57.364> you've<00:10:57.460> seen<00:10:57.765> this<00:10:57.990> happen<00:10:58.327> before,<00:10:59.354> where<00:10:59.611> people<00:10:59.916> are<00:11:00.237> accessing<00:11:00.975> the<00:11:02.082> hype<00:11:02.403> curve<00:11:02.901> and<00:11:02.981> the<00:11:03.125> creativity<00:11:03.687> curve<00:11:04.008> at<00:11:04.104> different<00:11:04.586> stages<00:11:05.147> in<00:11:05.244> its<00:11:05.452> evolution.

00:11:07.378 --> 00:11:08.967
And<00:11:07.699> I<00:11:07.859> find<00:11:08.100> it<00:11:08.517> fascinating.

00:11:09.063 --> 00:11:14.295
But<00:11:09.625> what<00:11:09.721> I<00:11:09.801> know<00:11:10.042> is<00:11:10.202> coming<00:11:11.470> is<00:11:11.871> going<00:11:12.128> to<00:11:12.915> really<00:11:13.236> change<00:11:13.637> how<00:11:13.797> we<00:11:14.038> work.

00:11:15.001 --> 00:11:17.713
And<00:11:15.258> that,<00:11:16.445> that,<00:11:16.590> that's<00:11:17.103> fascinating.

00:11:18.371 --> 00:11:18.563
Yeah.

00:11:18.628 --> 00:11:18.933
Yeah.

00:11:19.029 --> 00:11:29.018
It's<00:11:19.189> incredible<00:11:20.313> to<00:11:20.457> be<00:11:20.634> alive<00:11:21.035> at<00:11:21.179> this<00:11:21.356> time<00:11:21.661> when<00:11:22.062> something<00:11:22.399> like<00:11:22.559> this<00:11:22.880> is<00:11:23.666> is,<00:11:24.563> you<00:11:24.644> know,<00:11:24.788> becoming<00:11:25.124> so<00:11:25.365> widespread<00:11:26.310> and<00:11:26.566> really<00:11:26.807> will<00:11:27.031> change<00:11:27.287> society<00:11:27.993> in<00:11:28.169> fundamental<00:11:28.650> ways.

00:11:29.755 --> 00:11:39.433
I<00:11:29.851> wonder,<00:11:30.252> like,<00:11:30.492> as<00:11:30.636> you<00:11:30.733> think<00:11:30.909> about<00:11:31.358> your<00:11:31.534> role<00:11:31.854> as<00:11:31.934> CEO<00:11:33.120> and<00:11:33.232> a<00:11:33.441> leader,<00:11:34.482> how<00:11:34.642> do<00:11:34.722> you<00:11:34.979> lead<00:11:35.379> your<00:11:35.540> employees<00:11:36.485> and<00:11:37.447> talk<00:11:37.783> to<00:11:37.927> your<00:11:38.087> employees<00:11:38.744> about<00:11:39.145> this?

00:11:39.786 --> 00:11:48.855
And,<00:11:40.347> you<00:11:40.443> know,<00:11:41.132> like<00:11:41.629> you<00:11:41.693> mentioned,<00:11:41.997> hey,<00:11:42.190> I've<00:11:42.270> been<00:11:43.552> interviewing<00:11:44.032> writers,<00:11:44.433> technical<00:11:44.833> writers,<00:11:45.474> and<00:11:45.619> tell<00:11:45.731> them<00:11:45.859> like,<00:11:46.019> hey,<00:11:46.195> their<00:11:46.676> job's<00:11:46.997> not<00:11:47.077> going<00:11:47.189> to<00:11:47.237> be<00:11:47.381> the<00:11:47.461> same<00:11:47.654> as<00:11:47.798> it<00:11:47.878> was<00:11:48.118> 5<00:11:48.375> years<00:11:48.663> from<00:11:48.791> now.

00:11:49.785 --> 00:11:52.682
Like,<00:11:50.282> That<00:11:50.459> might<00:11:50.684> be<00:11:50.829> true<00:11:51.087> of<00:11:51.393> everyone's<00:11:52.295> job.

00:11:52.859 --> 00:11:59.594
And<00:11:53.004> how<00:11:53.503> do<00:11:53.648> you<00:11:54.228> imagine<00:11:54.791> leaders<00:11:56.547> and<00:11:56.644> you<00:11:56.805> yourself<00:11:57.513> will<00:11:58.158> manage<00:11:58.512> this<00:11:58.802> with<00:11:58.963> your<00:11:59.060> employee<00:11:59.382> base?

00:12:00.197 --> 00:12:03.064
Yeah,<00:12:00.441> well,<00:12:00.555> so<00:12:00.750> first<00:12:01.076> off,<00:12:01.337> I<00:12:01.418> don't<00:12:01.646> believe<00:12:01.891> we<00:12:01.988> control<00:12:02.396> anything<00:12:02.803> in<00:12:02.884> life.

00:12:03.454 --> 00:12:04.644
I<00:12:03.536> think<00:12:03.764> we<00:12:03.862> can<00:12:04.008> only<00:12:04.253> influence<00:12:04.497> things.

00:12:06.427 --> 00:12:16.896
And<00:12:06.994> that<00:12:07.171> largely<00:12:07.576> came<00:12:07.883> out<00:12:08.934> of<00:12:09.759> getting<00:12:10.002> cancer<00:12:11.199> 4<00:12:11.296> years<00:12:11.619> ago,<00:12:12.104> my<00:12:12.331> 3rd<00:12:12.590> month<00:12:12.816> on<00:12:12.897> the<00:12:12.994> job<00:12:13.301> here,<00:12:14.591> and<00:12:14.754> realizing<00:12:15.322> how<00:12:15.484> little<00:12:15.744> control<00:12:16.231> I<00:12:16.377> have<00:12:16.490> of<00:12:16.620> things.

00:12:17.520 --> 00:12:20.190
It<00:12:17.620> also<00:12:18.000> taught<00:12:18.260> me<00:12:18.400> that<00:12:18.800> everything<00:12:19.040> is<00:12:19.260> changing<00:12:19.540> constantly.

00:12:21.140 --> 00:12:26.140
And<00:12:21.220> so<00:12:21.420> the<00:12:21.620> question<00:12:21.920> is,<00:12:22.360> you<00:12:22.361> want<00:12:22.460> to<00:12:22.680> be<00:12:22.980> riding<00:12:23.660> the<00:12:23.900> change<00:12:24.220> or<00:12:24.440> being<00:12:24.640> driven<00:12:24.960> over<00:12:25.320> by<00:12:25.580> the<00:12:25.760> change?

00:12:26.140 --> 00:12:34.460
And<00:12:26.200> so<00:12:26.300> when<00:12:26.400> I<00:12:26.520> have<00:12:26.720> these<00:12:26.860> conversations<00:12:27.460> with<00:12:27.680> the<00:12:27.860> technical<00:12:28.100> writers,<00:12:28.980> I<00:12:29.000> start<00:12:29.240> off<00:12:29.500> with,<00:12:29.780> hey,<00:12:29.781> I<00:12:29.900> think<00:12:30.040> your<00:12:30.260> job<00:12:30.500> is<00:12:30.680> going<00:12:30.920> to<00:12:31.060> not<00:12:31.240> exist<00:12:31.520> in<00:12:31.720> 5<00:12:31.900> years,<00:12:32.660> but<00:12:32.760> here's<00:12:32.980> what<00:12:33.120> your<00:12:33.240> job<00:12:33.500> is<00:12:33.660> going<00:12:33.840> to<00:12:33.899> look<00:12:34.060> like.

00:12:34.600 --> 00:12:41.560
That's<00:12:34.780> going<00:12:34.880> to<00:12:34.900> be<00:12:34.980> a<00:12:35.140> completely<00:12:35.340> different<00:12:35.640> job,<00:12:36.480> which<00:12:36.540> is<00:12:36.760> you<00:12:36.900> are<00:12:37.060> going<00:12:37.240> to<00:12:37.500> be<00:12:37.660> the<00:12:37.760> person<00:12:38.040> who<00:12:38.500> creates,<00:12:38.660> who<00:12:38.700> feeds<00:12:38.960> the<00:12:39.160> mind<00:12:39.720> of<00:12:40.220> the<00:12:40.360> machine,<00:12:41.300> right?

00:12:41.560 --> 00:12:43.340
And<00:12:41.680> you're<00:12:41.880> going<00:12:41.940> to<00:12:42.020> be<00:12:42.100> in<00:12:42.220> more<00:12:42.340> demand<00:12:42.660> than<00:12:42.820> ever<00:12:43.040> before.

00:12:43.830 --> 00:12:45.270
And<00:12:44.190> here's<00:12:44.390> why<00:12:44.710> you're<00:12:44.830> gonna<00:12:44.950> be<00:12:45.110> in<00:12:45.111> demand.

00:12:45.270 --> 00:12:46.400
And<00:12:45.370> one<00:12:45.510> was<00:12:45.630> gonna<00:12:45.790> be<00:12:45.850> even<00:12:46.050> cooler.

00:12:47.010 --> 00:12:51.320
All<00:12:47.210> that<00:12:47.330> stuff<00:12:47.650> you've<00:12:47.849> written<00:12:48.010> for<00:12:48.230> years<00:12:48.430> that<00:12:48.570> no<00:12:48.710> one<00:12:48.790> ever<00:12:49.010> read,<00:12:49.850> they're<00:12:50.250> not<00:12:50.390> going<00:12:50.550> to<00:12:50.551> use<00:12:50.770> it.

00:12:51.430 --> 00:12:53.740
And<00:12:51.730> how<00:12:51.890> much<00:12:52.010> smarter<00:12:52.330> are<00:12:52.470> they<00:12:52.590> going<00:12:52.670> to<00:12:52.790> be<00:12:52.930> because<00:12:53.130> of<00:12:53.290> your<00:12:53.390> work?

00:12:54.050 --> 00:13:00.230
And<00:12:54.230> so<00:12:54.370> that's<00:12:54.490> kind<00:12:54.770> of<00:12:54.771> how<00:12:54.890> I<00:12:55.010> look<00:12:55.290> at<00:12:55.430> it,<00:12:55.610> is,<00:12:56.450> yeah,<00:12:56.451> our<00:12:56.750> job's<00:12:57.130> going<00:12:57.270> to<00:12:57.470> get<00:12:57.650> changed,<00:12:58.930> absolutely.

00:13:00.230 --> 00:13:09.710
Um,<00:13:01.170> but<00:13:01.190> I<00:13:01.370> believe<00:13:01.730> that<00:13:01.890> what's<00:13:02.110> going<00:13:02.250> to<00:13:02.450> happen<00:13:02.650> is<00:13:02.970> they're<00:13:03.190> going<00:13:03.350> to<00:13:03.510> get<00:13:03.630> changed<00:13:04.050> in<00:13:04.290> ways<00:13:04.430> we<00:13:04.630> didn't<00:13:04.870> imagine,<00:13:05.370> but<00:13:05.830> we're<00:13:05.990> still<00:13:06.190> going<00:13:06.350> to<00:13:06.510> need<00:13:06.690> people<00:13:07.250> to<00:13:07.910> define<00:13:08.290> what<00:13:08.490> it<00:13:08.630> is<00:13:08.770> we<00:13:08.910> need<00:13:09.130> to<00:13:09.210> accomplish.

00:13:09.890 --> 00:13:25.839
I<00:13:10.210> had<00:13:10.370> a<00:13:10.430> conversation<00:13:10.890> yesterday<00:13:11.510> with<00:13:12.290> a<00:13:12.710> professor<00:13:13.330> from<00:13:13.810> the<00:13:13.830> UC<00:13:13.850> system<00:13:13.870> who's<00:13:13.890> working<00:13:13.910> on<00:13:13.930> AI<00:13:16.548> And<00:13:18.008> he<00:13:18.249> felt<00:13:18.425> very<00:13:18.666> strongly<00:13:19.212> that<00:13:19.260> it's<00:13:19.452> important<00:13:19.934> that<00:13:20.158> this<00:13:20.255> technology,<00:13:21.779> the<00:13:21.859> driver<00:13:22.485> of,<00:13:22.966> of<00:13:23.143> the<00:13:23.367> ask,<00:13:23.688> the<00:13:23.769> driver<00:13:24.025> of<00:13:24.106> the<00:13:24.186> decision,<00:13:24.828> needs<00:13:25.052> to<00:13:25.213> be<00:13:25.373> a<00:13:25.389> human.

00:13:26.352 --> 00:13:33.428
And<00:13:26.512> we<00:13:26.593> need<00:13:26.753> to<00:13:26.801> have<00:13:26.914> a<00:13:26.994> clear<00:13:27.235> idea<00:13:27.459> of<00:13:27.539> the<00:13:27.636> purpose<00:13:28.101> that<00:13:28.197> we're<00:13:28.278> trying<00:13:28.550> to<00:13:28.582> use<00:13:28.743> the<00:13:28.839> technology<00:13:29.545> for,<00:13:30.348> not,<00:13:30.749> hey,<00:13:31.551> I<00:13:31.647> can<00:13:31.727> just<00:13:31.888> set<00:13:32.064> it,<00:13:32.289> forget<00:13:32.610> it,<00:13:32.674> and<00:13:32.770> go<00:13:32.931> play<00:13:33.156> golf.

00:13:34.199 --> 00:13:38.194
Um,<00:13:34.696> and<00:13:34.840> so<00:13:35.017> I,<00:13:35.338> I<00:13:35.418> think<00:13:35.579> that's,<00:13:36.686> that's<00:13:36.926> the<00:13:37.007> way<00:13:37.183> I<00:13:37.328> would<00:13:37.376> look<00:13:37.504> at<00:13:37.552> it<00:13:37.648> with<00:13:37.729> our<00:13:37.809> employees.

00:13:38.322 --> 00:13:54.367
I'll<00:13:38.563> tell<00:13:38.852> you,<00:13:39.333> my<00:13:39.494> employees<00:13:39.879> have<00:13:39.991> come<00:13:40.152> up<00:13:40.312> to<00:13:40.408> me<00:13:41.098> over<00:13:41.179> the<00:13:41.275> last<00:13:41.596> 3<00:13:41.724> or<00:13:41.901> 4<00:13:42.013> months<00:13:42.318> at<00:13:42.398> different<00:13:42.703> meetings<00:13:43.040> and<00:13:43.120> said,<00:13:43.746> I<00:13:43.778> have<00:13:43.922> not<00:13:44.083> been<00:13:44.259> as<00:13:44.388> excited<00:13:44.901> to<00:13:44.981> be<00:13:45.126> at<00:13:45.206> Capado<00:13:46.730> in<00:13:46.794> the<00:13:46.826> last<00:13:47.276> 4<00:13:47.340> or<00:13:47.452> 5<00:13:47.693> years<00:13:48.254> until,<00:13:49.442> um,<00:13:50.099> what<00:13:50.244> I've<00:13:50.372> seen<00:13:50.982> us<00:13:51.543> produce<00:13:52.025> with<00:13:52.169> this<00:13:52.281> technology<00:13:53.324> over<00:13:53.549> the<00:13:53.613> last<00:13:53.789> 6<00:13:54.094> months.

00:13:55.153 --> 00:14:01.105
And<00:13:55.217> they<00:13:55.314> were<00:13:55.458> excited<00:13:55.859> before,<00:13:56.613> okay,<00:13:56.918> because<00:13:57.175> they<00:13:57.319> like<00:13:57.560> this<00:13:57.784> idea<00:13:57.961> of<00:13:58.041> people<00:13:58.282> getting<00:13:58.378> to<00:13:58.522> go<00:13:58.587> over<00:13:58.924> dinner<00:13:59.790> and,<00:14:00.207> and<00:14:00.271> not<00:14:00.448> get<00:14:00.608> divorced.

00:14:01.651 --> 00:14:15.448
But,<00:14:02.036> but<00:14:02.277> now<00:14:02.453> they're<00:14:02.854> excited<00:14:03.175> on<00:14:03.271> a<00:14:03.400> completely<00:14:03.753> different<00:14:04.122> level<00:14:04.443> where<00:14:04.619> they,<00:14:05.020> they<00:14:05.181> believe<00:14:05.582> that<00:14:05.742> we<00:14:05.903> can<00:14:06.929> really<00:14:07.186> make<00:14:07.427> that<00:14:07.667> transformation<00:14:08.550> to<00:14:09.353> business<00:14:09.822> analysts<00:14:10.243> and<00:14:10.404> low<00:14:10.647> coders<00:14:11.051> and<00:14:11.132> people<00:14:11.439> who<00:14:11.520> didn't<00:14:11.697> have<00:14:11.859> a<00:14:11.875> seat<00:14:12.182> at<00:14:12.247> the<00:14:12.344> table<00:14:13.314> of<00:14:13.395> being<00:14:13.637> innovators<00:14:14.753> have<00:14:14.931> those<00:14:15.044> seats.

00:14:16.208 --> 00:14:18.050
And,<00:14:16.709> and<00:14:16.773> that,<00:14:17.274> that<00:14:17.436> gets<00:14:17.662> them<00:14:17.776> excited.

00:14:18.099 --> 00:14:21.249
So<00:14:18.309> I<00:14:18.406> don't<00:14:18.632> think<00:14:18.746> it's<00:14:18.875> a<00:14:18.940> matter<00:14:19.279> of<00:14:20.167> we're<00:14:20.328> going<00:14:20.441> to<00:14:20.571> lose<00:14:20.667> jobs.

00:14:21.313 --> 00:14:28.198
I<00:14:21.330> think<00:14:21.782> we're<00:14:21.943> going<00:14:22.121> to<00:14:22.282> eliminate<00:14:23.397> jobs<00:14:23.897> that,<00:14:24.382> that<00:14:24.882> are<00:14:25.011> going<00:14:25.124> to<00:14:25.205> be<00:14:25.334> replaced<00:14:25.754> by<00:14:25.916> better<00:14:26.158> jobs,<00:14:27.956> right?

00:14:28.521 --> 00:14:33.377
No<00:14:28.747> one<00:14:28.844> is,<00:14:29.247> is<00:14:29.731> fawning<00:14:30.441> over<00:14:31.344> digging<00:14:31.667> ditches,<00:14:33.135> right?

00:14:33.603 --> 00:14:37.039
No<00:14:33.683> one's<00:14:33.829> like,<00:14:34.151> oh,<00:14:34.248> I<00:14:34.474> wish<00:14:34.732> that<00:14:34.813> we<00:14:34.958> could<00:14:35.055> get<00:14:35.151> rid<00:14:35.297> of<00:14:35.377> the<00:14:35.458> backhoe<00:14:35.958> so<00:14:36.168> we<00:14:36.200> could<00:14:36.410> dig<00:14:36.571> those<00:14:36.700> ditches.

00:14:38.237 --> 00:14:46.080
I<00:14:38.386> think<00:14:38.733> it's,<00:14:41.170> wow,<00:14:41.447> can't<00:14:41.692> we<00:14:41.838> go<00:14:41.953> back<00:14:42.181> to<00:14:42.328> the<00:14:42.409> day<00:14:42.736> before<00:14:43.143> running<00:14:43.470> water<00:14:43.877> because<00:14:44.302> that<00:14:44.644> natural<00:14:44.954> spring<00:14:45.280> was<00:14:45.394> so<00:14:45.672> great?

00:14:48.340 --> 00:14:50.140
Hey,<00:14:48.790> let's<00:14:48.956> bring<00:14:49.140> the<00:14:49.273> lead<00:14:49.540> back<00:14:49.706> to<00:14:49.873> paint.

00:14:51.699 --> 00:14:53.598
No,<00:14:52.246> no<00:14:52.391> one's<00:14:52.632> asking<00:14:53.035> for<00:14:53.132> that,<00:14:53.454> right?

00:14:54.097 --> 00:15:01.197
So<00:14:54.242> I<00:14:54.339> think<00:14:54.484> it<00:14:54.564> really<00:14:54.741> becomes<00:14:55.466> what<00:14:55.772> are<00:14:55.852> we<00:14:56.013> trying<00:14:56.255> to<00:14:56.416> do<00:14:56.673> and<00:14:56.899> how<00:14:57.076> are<00:14:57.140> we<00:14:57.237> going<00:14:57.430> to<00:14:57.623> better<00:14:57.881> the<00:14:58.025> human<00:14:58.283> condition<00:15:00.199> by<00:15:00.295> using<00:15:00.569> this<00:15:00.698> technology?

00:15:01.261 --> 00:15:03.556
I<00:15:01.310> think<00:15:01.508> we<00:15:01.607> tend<00:15:01.838> to<00:15:01.921> go<00:15:02.003> negative<00:15:02.581> and<00:15:02.730> we<00:15:02.895> fear<00:15:03.225> Dr.

00:15:03.655 --> 00:15:03.803
Evil.

00:15:04.432 --> 00:15:07.925
Is<00:15:04.512> going<00:15:04.784> to<00:15:05.169> somehow<00:15:05.618> get<00:15:05.858> AI<00:15:06.194> and<00:15:06.339> we're<00:15:06.499> all<00:15:06.531> going<00:15:06.787> to<00:15:06.916> become<00:15:07.412> zombies.

00:15:08.422 --> 00:15:20.825
But<00:15:08.582> I<00:15:08.678> think<00:15:08.919> the<00:15:08.999> reality<00:15:09.479> is<00:15:09.800> that<00:15:10.585> what<00:15:10.745> we<00:15:10.906> really<00:15:11.146> want<00:15:11.258> to<00:15:11.306> figure<00:15:11.627> out<00:15:11.787> is<00:15:11.947> how<00:15:12.268> can<00:15:12.364> you<00:15:12.524> be<00:15:13.726> a<00:15:13.790> productive<00:15:14.351> contributor<00:15:15.104> to<00:15:15.248> the—<00:15:15.665> to<00:15:15.889> mankind<00:15:17.155> and<00:15:17.235> to<00:15:17.267> still<00:15:17.796> at<00:15:18.037> the<00:15:18.069> same<00:15:18.357> time<00:15:19.158> not<00:15:19.399> break<00:15:19.639> your<00:15:19.735> back,<00:15:20.697> right?

00:15:20.953 --> 00:15:33.758
Isn't—<00:15:21.322> isn't<00:15:21.514> that<00:15:21.658> the<00:15:21.738> purpose<00:15:22.363> of<00:15:22.940> technology,<00:15:23.485> is<00:15:24.126> how<00:15:24.222> do<00:15:24.366> we<00:15:24.462> make<00:15:24.703> people<00:15:24.943> in<00:15:25.023> society—<00:15:26.145> like,<00:15:26.770> I,<00:15:27.026> I<00:15:27.170> think<00:15:27.267> about<00:15:27.395> 1798<00:15:29.173> and<00:15:29.270> I<00:15:29.430> think<00:15:29.574> about<00:15:29.830> Boston<00:15:30.552> And<00:15:30.696> I<00:15:30.712> think<00:15:30.856> about<00:15:31.113> women<00:15:32.059> not<00:15:32.219> being<00:15:32.411> able<00:15:32.539> to<00:15:32.636> be<00:15:32.796> part<00:15:32.956> of<00:15:33.036> the<00:15:33.181> workforce.

00:15:34.704 --> 00:15:40.138
And<00:15:35.024> all<00:15:35.120> the<00:15:35.201> people<00:15:35.666> who<00:15:36.066> ran<00:15:36.307> the<00:15:36.387> workforce<00:15:36.964> were<00:15:37.205> tradesmen<00:15:37.846> or<00:15:37.990> craftsmen<00:15:38.487> that<00:15:38.647> were<00:15:38.728> members<00:15:39.048> of<00:15:39.192> guilds,<00:15:40.074> right?

00:15:40.186 --> 00:15:42.944
Who<00:15:40.250> made<00:15:40.571> sweaters<00:15:41.132> or<00:15:41.597> shoes<00:15:42.094> or<00:15:42.174> cobbled<00:15:42.575> horses.

00:15:43.296 --> 00:15:55.961
And<00:15:43.441> all<00:15:43.553> of<00:15:43.633> a<00:15:43.649> sudden<00:15:43.761> you<00:15:43.841> have<00:15:43.922> these<00:15:44.178> factories<00:15:45.445> around<00:15:45.861> Boston<00:15:46.342> populated<00:15:46.823> by<00:15:47.064> women<00:15:47.320> who<00:15:47.465> are<00:15:47.545> now<00:15:47.785> part<00:15:47.945> of<00:15:48.010> the<00:15:48.090> workforce<00:15:48.988> that<00:15:49.132> were<00:15:49.613> producing<00:15:50.030> mass<00:15:50.286> quantities<00:15:51.488> of<00:15:51.617> commercial<00:15:52.114> goods<00:15:53.540> that<00:15:53.701> created<00:15:53.941> an<00:15:54.037> industrial<00:15:54.518> revolution,<00:15:55.640> right?

00:15:56.362 --> 00:15:59.062
What<00:15:56.523> is<00:15:56.684> that<00:15:56.844> industrial<00:15:57.568> revolution<00:15:57.873> ahead<00:15:58.114> of<00:15:58.275> us<00:15:58.933> for?

00:15:59.496 --> 00:16:02.195
Maybe<00:15:59.737> it's<00:15:59.897> how<00:16:00.042> we<00:16:00.155> solve<00:16:00.572> some<00:16:01.103> of<00:16:01.183> our<00:16:01.263> environmental<00:16:01.906> issues.

00:16:02.629 --> 00:16:05.088
Maybe<00:16:02.886> it's<00:16:03.417> how<00:16:03.449> we<00:16:03.674> solve<00:16:03.995> some<00:16:04.236> of<00:16:04.316> our<00:16:04.413> political<00:16:04.975> issues.

00:16:06.067 --> 00:16:17.319
I<00:16:06.163> think<00:16:06.405> we<00:16:06.485> need<00:16:06.598> to<00:16:06.662> think<00:16:06.872> about<00:16:07.032> what<00:16:07.129> the<00:16:07.210> positive<00:16:07.757> is<00:16:07.854> going<00:16:08.079> to<00:16:08.159> be<00:16:08.417> from<00:16:08.562> this<00:16:08.675> technology<00:16:09.785> and<00:16:09.866> not<00:16:10.091> be—<00:16:12.120> it's<00:16:12.442> going<00:16:12.619> to<00:16:12.731> happen<00:16:13.391> one<00:16:13.552> way<00:16:13.585> or<00:16:13.729> the<00:16:13.874> other,<00:16:14.132> so<00:16:14.357> let's<00:16:14.534> figure<00:16:14.760> out<00:16:14.840> how<00:16:14.937> to<00:16:15.082> make<00:16:15.243> the<00:16:15.339> best<00:16:15.661> of<00:16:15.726> it<00:16:15.967> and<00:16:16.064> solve<00:16:16.305> some<00:16:16.643> of<00:16:16.772> our<00:16:16.804> real<00:16:17.013> problems.

00:16:17.432 --> 00:16:25.269
And<00:16:17.496> I<00:16:17.529> think<00:16:17.754> that's,<00:16:18.639> that's<00:16:18.865> what<00:16:19.026> fascinates<00:16:19.670> me,<00:16:20.169> is<00:16:20.812> what<00:16:20.957> problems<00:16:21.376> can<00:16:21.521> we<00:16:21.617> solve<00:16:21.859> to<00:16:22.084> better<00:16:22.752> to<00:16:23.056> really<00:16:23.409> make<00:16:23.698> people<00:16:23.874> their<00:16:24.034> best,<00:16:25.012> right?

00:16:25.702 --> 00:16:26.664
And<00:16:25.798> better<00:16:26.038> than<00:16:26.183> their<00:16:26.359> best.

00:16:27.000 --> 00:16:28.026
That's<00:16:27.401> the<00:16:27.481> cool<00:16:27.722> concept.

00:16:28.123 --> 00:16:35.979
Imagine<00:16:29.004> that<00:16:29.101> you<00:16:29.229> woke<00:16:29.469> up,<00:16:29.646> you<00:16:29.710> know,<00:16:29.806> your<00:16:29.966> parents<00:16:30.271> were<00:16:30.351> always<00:16:30.527> like,<00:16:30.768> "I<00:16:30.848> just<00:16:31.089> want<00:16:31.329> you<00:16:31.874> to<00:16:31.954> be<00:16:32.051> the<00:16:32.131> best<00:16:32.435> you<00:16:32.516> can<00:16:32.692> be."<00:16:33.574> Clint,<00:16:34.055> we<00:16:34.199> want<00:16:34.359> you<00:16:34.391> to<00:16:34.536> do<00:16:34.616> the<00:16:34.696> best<00:16:35.017> podcast<00:16:35.562> you<00:16:35.594> can<00:16:35.818> do.

00:16:36.299 --> 00:16:40.035
Imagine<00:16:36.941> if<00:16:37.181> the<00:16:37.245> technology<00:16:37.742> allowed<00:16:38.047> you<00:16:38.865> to<00:16:39.009> do<00:16:39.185> better<00:16:39.426> than<00:16:39.570> your<00:16:39.746> best.

00:16:41.173 --> 00:16:41.414
Yeah.

00:16:42.055 --> 00:16:42.953
What's<00:16:42.231> wrong<00:16:42.392> with<00:16:42.552> that?

00:16:44.380 --> 00:16:44.540
Yeah.

00:16:44.941 --> 00:16:46.721
Yeah,<00:16:45.021> I<00:16:45.278> think<00:16:45.422> that's<00:16:46.175> a<00:16:46.240> good<00:16:46.400> point.

00:16:47.282 --> 00:16:54.821
Ted,<00:16:47.506> I<00:16:47.522> have<00:16:47.683> to<00:16:47.747> ask<00:16:48.067> you,<00:16:48.164> what<00:16:48.324> did<00:16:48.468> you<00:16:48.709> learn<00:16:49.847> from<00:16:50.071> your<00:16:50.232> experience<00:16:50.809> getting<00:16:51.114> cancer<00:16:52.252> so<00:16:52.493> early<00:16:52.878> on<00:16:53.071> on<00:16:53.200> taking<00:16:53.521> this<00:16:53.697> job<00:16:54.034> as<00:16:54.099> CEO.

00:16:55.688 --> 00:16:59.686
Um,<00:16:56.491> wow,<00:16:57.230> that<00:16:57.390> must<00:16:57.631> have<00:16:57.711> been<00:16:59.140> life-changing.

00:17:01.148 --> 00:17:04.503
Yeah,<00:17:01.469> well,<00:17:01.565> I<00:17:01.629> mean,<00:17:01.742> it<00:17:01.790> was<00:17:01.950> kind<00:17:02.127> of,<00:17:02.352> uh,<00:17:03.155> it's<00:17:03.315> been<00:17:03.428> an<00:17:03.717> odd<00:17:03.974> couple<00:17:04.295> years.

00:17:04.600 --> 00:17:08.277
I<00:17:04.664> was<00:17:04.776> just<00:17:04.921> driving<00:17:05.322> with<00:17:05.483> my<00:17:05.595> daughter<00:17:06.061> today,<00:17:06.382> we<00:17:06.462> were<00:17:06.543> talking<00:17:06.928> about<00:17:07.024> the<00:17:07.088> last<00:17:07.490> 4<00:17:07.554> or<00:17:07.747> 5<00:17:07.972> years.

00:17:08.951 --> 00:17:11.215
My<00:17:09.176> wife<00:17:09.352> had<00:17:09.513> a<00:17:09.593> heart<00:17:09.754> attack<00:17:10.236> in<00:17:10.316> 2018.

00:17:12.146 --> 00:17:15.839
She<00:17:12.387> asked<00:17:12.628> me<00:17:12.885> to<00:17:13.206> go<00:17:13.367> find<00:17:13.704> a<00:17:13.768> job<00:17:14.169> because<00:17:14.491> she<00:17:14.603> didn't<00:17:14.796> like<00:17:14.972> me<00:17:15.117> being<00:17:15.309> around<00:17:15.518> the<00:17:15.615> house.

00:17:15.936 --> 00:17:17.011
She<00:17:16.000> told<00:17:16.241> me<00:17:16.273> it<00:17:16.353> stressed<00:17:16.803> her<00:17:16.883> out.

00:17:17.765 --> 00:17:24.035
And,<00:17:18.086> uh,<00:17:18.422> and<00:17:18.503> so<00:17:18.727> I<00:17:18.823> joined<00:17:19.064> Capado,<00:17:20.267> and<00:17:20.347> within<00:17:20.587> 3<00:17:20.828> months<00:17:21.084> of<00:17:21.213> joining<00:17:21.373> Capado,<00:17:21.870> I<00:17:21.934> had<00:17:22.207> stage<00:17:22.736> 3<00:17:22.977> colorectal<00:17:23.554> cancer.

00:17:24.821 --> 00:17:29.952
Um,<00:17:25.943> and<00:17:26.184> I<00:17:26.280> went<00:17:26.424> to<00:17:26.521> a<00:17:26.665> board<00:17:26.905> meeting<00:17:27.226> where<00:17:27.387> I<00:17:27.483> said,<00:17:27.723> well,<00:17:27.868> the<00:17:27.964> good<00:17:28.124> news<00:17:28.429> is<00:17:28.605> we<00:17:28.685> just<00:17:28.910> closed<00:17:29.086> this<00:17:29.247> deal<00:17:29.471> with<00:17:29.632> Google.

00:17:30.594 --> 00:17:32.983
The<00:17:30.674> bad<00:17:30.947> news,<00:17:31.155> I<00:17:31.187> might<00:17:31.412> not<00:17:31.636> be<00:17:31.796> here<00:17:31.957> by<00:17:32.053> the<00:17:32.133> time<00:17:32.310> it's<00:17:32.534> implemented.

00:17:34.362 --> 00:17:41.610
Um,<00:17:35.164> and<00:17:35.886> I<00:17:35.982> joke<00:17:36.238> about<00:17:36.463> stuff<00:17:36.768> like<00:17:36.944> that<00:17:37.185> because<00:17:37.746> that's<00:17:37.906> the<00:17:37.986> only<00:17:38.211> way<00:17:38.371> I<00:17:38.387> can<00:17:38.628> kind<00:17:39.093> of,<00:17:40.392> uh,<00:17:40.793> uh,<00:17:41.033> deal<00:17:41.274> with<00:17:41.434> it.

00:17:42.220 --> 00:17:50.910
Um,<00:17:42.701> but<00:17:42.797> it<00:17:43.022> really<00:17:43.583> kind<00:17:43.759> of<00:17:44.546> was<00:17:44.722> a<00:17:44.786> moment<00:17:45.203> where<00:17:45.909> all<00:17:46.005> of<00:17:46.069> a<00:17:46.085> sudden<00:17:47.608> I<00:17:47.688> could<00:17:47.912> make<00:17:48.169> very<00:17:48.393> clear<00:17:48.570> decisions<00:17:49.195> because<00:17:49.451> I<00:17:49.531> didn't<00:17:49.804> care<00:17:49.932> about<00:17:50.157> the<00:17:50.237> repercussions.

00:17:50.974 --> 00:17:57.098
And<00:17:51.215> one<00:17:51.375> of<00:17:51.439> the<00:17:51.535> problems<00:17:51.872> in<00:17:52.016> life<00:17:52.273> is<00:17:52.401> we're<00:17:52.641> always<00:17:52.882> so<00:17:53.058> worried<00:17:53.363> about<00:17:54.421> the<00:17:54.485> repercussions<00:17:55.479> of<00:17:55.543> our<00:17:55.687> decisions<00:17:56.168> that<00:17:56.248> we<00:17:56.344> make<00:17:56.504> no<00:17:56.729> decision.

00:17:57.787 --> 00:17:58.893
Right.

00:17:58.973 --> 00:18:04.632
And<00:17:59.214> when<00:17:59.310> I<00:17:59.390> got<00:17:59.711> well,<00:18:00.512> I<00:18:00.656> really<00:18:00.913> hoped<00:18:01.314> to<00:18:01.394> keep<00:18:01.650> it<00:18:01.714> together<00:18:02.179> and<00:18:02.259> stay<00:18:02.516> positive<00:18:03.157> and<00:18:03.397> be<00:18:03.494> like<00:18:03.718> grateful<00:18:04.183> for<00:18:04.343> things.

00:18:05.161 --> 00:18:12.326
And<00:18:05.225> then<00:18:05.321> all<00:18:05.481> of<00:18:05.545> a<00:18:05.562> sudden,<00:18:06.684> I<00:18:06.764> think<00:18:06.988> I<00:18:07.148> fell<00:18:07.325> back<00:18:07.726> into—<00:18:09.393> my<00:18:09.569> body<00:18:09.890> was<00:18:10.034> healthy,<00:18:10.371> but<00:18:10.531> my<00:18:10.755> mind<00:18:11.092> wasn't<00:18:11.413> as<00:18:11.557> healthy<00:18:11.813> as<00:18:11.974> my<00:18:12.134> body.

00:18:12.374 --> 00:18:19.706
And<00:18:12.535> when<00:18:12.695> my<00:18:12.855> father<00:18:13.240> died<00:18:13.577> last<00:18:13.849> November,<00:18:14.442> who<00:18:14.522> I<00:18:14.683> worked<00:18:14.859> with<00:18:15.083> for<00:18:15.180> 18<00:18:15.644> years,<00:18:16.687> I<00:18:16.864> was<00:18:17.089> once<00:18:17.265> again<00:18:17.490> reminded<00:18:18.052> that<00:18:18.373> we<00:18:18.550> can't<00:18:18.871> control<00:18:19.208> a<00:18:19.257> whole<00:18:19.449> lot.

00:18:19.771 --> 00:18:22.613
So<00:18:19.979> you've<00:18:20.140> got<00:18:20.300> to<00:18:20.381> really<00:18:20.654> decide,<00:18:21.505> hey,<00:18:21.665> what<00:18:21.762> do<00:18:21.826> you<00:18:21.906> want<00:18:22.067> to<00:18:22.147> achieve?

00:18:23.191 --> 00:18:23.962
What<00:18:23.287> do<00:18:23.352> you<00:18:23.448> believe<00:18:23.849> in?

00:18:24.877 --> 00:18:29.887
It<00:18:24.957> doesn't<00:18:26.001> have<00:18:26.178> to<00:18:26.258> be<00:18:26.643> something<00:18:26.965> that<00:18:27.045> everyone<00:18:27.446> understands,<00:18:27.944> but<00:18:28.089> it's<00:18:28.249> got<00:18:28.378> to<00:18:28.410> be<00:18:28.442> something<00:18:28.811> that<00:18:29.245> is<00:18:29.389> meaningful<00:18:29.711> to<00:18:29.791> you.

00:18:29.951 --> 00:18:34.930
And<00:18:30.497> what<00:18:30.594> are<00:18:30.738> we<00:18:30.915> doing<00:18:32.103> to<00:18:32.842> make<00:18:33.067> a<00:18:33.147> contribution,<00:18:34.287> right?

00:18:35.476 --> 00:18:40.582
Um,<00:18:36.359> and,<00:18:38.302> and<00:18:38.687> you<00:18:38.719> have<00:18:38.864> to<00:18:38.944> be<00:18:39.040> at<00:18:39.185> peace<00:18:39.908> with<00:18:40.068> yourself.

00:18:41.578 --> 00:18:52.058
Um,<00:18:42.316> and,<00:18:42.638> and<00:18:42.718> that's<00:18:43.360> been<00:18:44.809> the<00:18:44.906> biggest<00:18:45.310> gift<00:18:45.616> I<00:18:45.633> could<00:18:45.859> have<00:18:45.939> ever<00:18:46.117> gotten,<00:18:46.601> because<00:18:47.570> you<00:18:47.651> can<00:18:47.748> make<00:18:48.054> a<00:18:48.070> lot<00:18:48.296> of<00:18:48.377> money<00:18:48.781> and<00:18:48.926> you<00:18:49.023> can<00:18:49.168> have<00:18:49.249> lots<00:18:49.443> of<00:18:49.572> things,<00:18:50.880> but<00:18:51.106> you<00:18:51.202> can't<00:18:51.525> find<00:18:51.767> peace.

00:18:53.806 --> 00:19:00.293
And<00:18:53.902> so<00:18:54.128> that,<00:18:54.451> that<00:18:54.855> I<00:18:54.935> would<00:18:55.097> say<00:18:56.565> was<00:18:56.727> the<00:18:56.807> big<00:18:57.049> lesson<00:18:57.759> of,<00:18:59.212> of<00:18:59.712> cancer.

00:19:01.068 --> 00:19:03.650
And<00:19:01.229> who<00:19:01.261> knows,<00:19:01.552> the<00:19:01.633> cancer—<00:19:01.988> I'm<00:19:02.278> going<00:19:02.456> for<00:19:02.601> a<00:19:02.682> colonoscopy<00:19:03.246> on<00:19:03.343> Friday.

00:19:03.731 --> 00:19:08.091
You<00:19:03.763> know,<00:19:04.474> I<00:19:04.555> don't<00:19:04.716> think<00:19:04.878> I'll<00:19:05.427> find<00:19:05.766> anything,<00:19:06.557> but<00:19:06.654> that's<00:19:06.880> what<00:19:06.977> you<00:19:07.042> have<00:19:07.235> to<00:19:07.381> do,<00:19:07.849> right?

00:19:08.172 --> 00:19:13.213
And<00:19:08.899> you<00:19:08.979> just<00:19:09.157> have<00:19:09.399> to<00:19:09.965> look<00:19:10.191> up<00:19:10.288> at<00:19:10.352> the<00:19:10.384> sun<00:19:10.675> every<00:19:10.869> day<00:19:11.095> and,<00:19:11.644> you<00:19:11.693> know,<00:19:12.308> be<00:19:12.470> happy<00:19:12.647> to<00:19:12.873> be<00:19:13.035> here.

00:19:13.924 --> 00:19:15.361
I<00:19:13.940> think<00:19:14.085> that's<00:19:14.247> really<00:19:14.505> hard<00:19:14.909> to<00:19:14.990> accomplish.

00:19:15.474 --> 00:19:17.268
I<00:19:15.539> mean,<00:19:15.798> do<00:19:16.040> you<00:19:16.105> imagine<00:19:16.573> what<00:19:16.638> a<00:19:16.686> gift<00:19:16.912> that<00:19:17.090> is?

00:19:17.962 --> 00:19:18.964
Yeah,<00:19:18.172> to<00:19:18.221> be<00:19:18.544> at<00:19:18.625> peace.

00:19:20.719 --> 00:19:30.980
Um,<00:19:20.945> it<00:19:21.090> makes<00:19:21.268> it<00:19:21.413> a<00:19:21.429> lot<00:19:21.655> easier<00:19:22.397> to,<00:19:22.784> you<00:19:22.978> know,<00:19:24.817> pursue<00:19:25.204> your<00:19:25.381> dreams,<00:19:27.059> um,<00:19:27.624> because<00:19:28.221> it's<00:19:28.430> all<00:19:28.527> going<00:19:28.769> to<00:19:28.818> work<00:19:28.866> out<00:19:28.914> or<00:19:29.092> not<00:19:29.318> work<00:19:29.560> out,<00:19:29.656> but,<00:19:29.963> you<00:19:29.995> know,<00:19:30.140> you're<00:19:30.270> going<00:19:30.337> to<00:19:30.422> do<00:19:30.472> your<00:19:30.625> best.

00:19:32.631 --> 00:19:57.920
Um,<00:19:33.606> yeah,<00:19:33.865> so<00:19:34.012> I<00:19:34.060> don't<00:19:34.142> know<00:19:34.190> if<00:19:34.418> that's<00:19:34.759> the<00:19:34.922> answer<00:19:35.149> you're<00:19:35.328> looking<00:19:35.571> for,<00:19:35.734> Clint,<00:19:36.059> but,<00:19:36.871> you<00:19:36.904> know,<00:19:37.017> in<00:19:37.115> my<00:19:37.294> mind,<00:19:37.683> it's,<00:19:38.090> it's<00:19:38.252> really<00:19:38.512> about<00:19:39.210> there's<00:19:39.660> so<00:19:39.840> many<00:19:39.980> things<00:19:40.160> in<00:19:40.320> life<00:19:40.680> that<00:19:40.840> are<00:19:40.960> artificial<00:19:41.520> blockers<00:19:42.220> that<00:19:42.360> are<00:19:42.480> in<00:19:42.600> our<00:19:42.840> heads<00:19:43.100> that<00:19:43.300> we<00:19:43.440> create<00:19:43.820> as<00:19:43.980> artificial<00:19:44.380> blockers<00:19:45.540> because<00:19:46.020> we're<00:19:46.400> concerned<00:19:46.740> about<00:19:46.960> what<00:19:47.120> people<00:19:47.340> think<00:19:47.600> of<00:19:47.780> us,<00:19:48.060> or<00:19:48.100> we're<00:19:48.280> concerned<00:19:48.600> about<00:19:49.100> what<00:19:49.520> the<00:19:49.640> financial<00:19:50.060> ramifications<00:19:50.800> are<00:19:51.060> going<00:19:51.140> to<00:19:51.220> be,<00:19:51.400> or<00:19:51.401> we're<00:19:51.520> going<00:19:51.600> to,<00:19:52.300> you<00:19:52.320> know,<00:19:52.820> imagine<00:19:53.400> if<00:19:53.600> you<00:19:53.680> lived<00:19:53.900> your<00:19:54.140> life<00:19:54.380> thinking<00:19:54.620> that<00:19:54.840> this<00:19:54.960> could<00:19:55.100> be<00:19:55.240> your<00:19:55.360> last<00:19:55.579> day<00:19:55.820> or<00:19:55.980> your<00:19:56.060> last<00:19:56.280> week,<00:19:56.800> how<00:19:56.900> would<00:19:57.060> you<00:19:57.160> live<00:19:57.320> it<00:19:57.520> differently?

00:19:58.700 --> 00:20:00.760
Yeah,<00:19:58.940> drastically<00:19:59.240> different,<00:20:00.160> right?

00:20:00.760 --> 00:20:02.020
Most<00:20:00.761> likely.

00:20:02.020 --> 00:20:03.400
Yeah,<00:20:02.460> yeah,<00:20:02.680> totally.

00:20:03.400 --> 00:20:11.494
And,<00:20:03.760> and<00:20:04.060> that<00:20:04.280> doesn't<00:20:04.480> mean<00:20:04.620> that<00:20:04.800> you're<00:20:04.920> a<00:20:05.000> better<00:20:05.140> person<00:20:06.125> or<00:20:06.191> you<00:20:06.289> make<00:20:06.517> the<00:20:06.599> right<00:20:06.762> decisions<00:20:07.284> or<00:20:07.415> everyone<00:20:07.806> agrees<00:20:08.149> with<00:20:08.312> you,<00:20:09.291> but<00:20:10.026> you<00:20:10.205> can<00:20:10.352> at<00:20:10.515> least<00:20:10.776> live<00:20:10.939> with<00:20:11.086> yourself.

00:20:12.383 --> 00:20:15.145
And,<00:20:12.464> and<00:20:12.545> that's,<00:20:13.675> that's<00:20:13.982> actually<00:20:14.725> a<00:20:14.806> gift.

00:20:15.936 --> 00:20:17.083
How's<00:20:16.162> your<00:20:16.340> diagnosis<00:20:16.970> now?

00:20:17.293 --> 00:20:21.234
It<00:20:17.567> sounds<00:20:17.939> like<00:20:18.520> they<00:20:18.746> got<00:20:19.069> it,<00:20:19.231> but<00:20:19.392> you<00:20:19.731> get<00:20:20.054> checkups<00:20:20.539> all<00:20:20.684> the<00:20:20.830> time<00:20:21.105> and—.

00:20:21.996 --> 00:20:22.401
Yeah.

00:20:22.466 --> 00:20:22.741
Yeah.

00:20:22.806 --> 00:20:32.785
Well,<00:20:23.049> I<00:20:23.130> mean,<00:20:23.616> the<00:20:23.697> first<00:20:24.021> thing<00:20:24.182> is<00:20:24.409> that<00:20:26.288> my<00:20:26.450> anatomy<00:20:26.855> is<00:20:26.920> a<00:20:26.952> little<00:20:27.179> different<00:20:27.584> because<00:20:27.730> they<00:20:27.811> have<00:20:27.924> to<00:20:28.054> cut<00:20:28.232> certain<00:20:28.540> parts<00:20:28.653> of<00:20:28.702> your<00:20:28.880> body<00:20:29.108> out<00:20:30.668> and<00:20:31.587> I<00:20:31.653> don't<00:20:31.899> drink<00:20:32.162> any<00:20:32.326> more<00:20:32.556> alcohol.

00:20:33.613 --> 00:20:38.157
Because<00:20:33.918> they<00:20:34.014> told<00:20:34.255> me<00:20:34.351> that<00:20:34.656> I<00:20:34.737> probably<00:20:35.138> got<00:20:35.315> it<00:20:35.443> because<00:20:35.700> of<00:20:36.423> eating<00:20:36.664> too<00:20:36.824> much<00:20:37.049> barbecue<00:20:37.547> and<00:20:37.611> alcohol.

00:20:38.815 --> 00:20:40.678
I'll<00:20:39.939> tell<00:20:40.100> you<00:20:40.132> a<00:20:40.196> funny<00:20:40.421> story.

00:20:40.742 --> 00:20:45.992
Last<00:20:40.919> summer<00:20:41.240> I<00:20:41.320> was<00:20:41.480> on<00:20:41.545> a<00:20:41.561> camping<00:20:41.962> trip<00:20:42.588> and<00:20:42.910> I<00:20:43.086> told<00:20:43.504> a<00:20:43.632> guy<00:20:43.873> who<00:20:43.953> was<00:20:44.050> about<00:20:44.355> my<00:20:44.451> age<00:20:45.350> about<00:20:45.575> what<00:20:45.703> had<00:20:45.800> happened.

00:20:46.041 --> 00:20:48.064
And<00:20:46.121> he<00:20:46.281> kept<00:20:46.458> on<00:20:46.603> asking<00:20:46.843> me<00:20:47.004> questions<00:20:47.341> like,<00:20:47.566> how<00:20:47.662> did<00:20:47.823> you<00:20:47.919> know?

00:20:48.931 --> 00:20:49.926
What<00:20:49.043> were<00:20:49.172> the<00:20:49.268> first<00:20:49.621> signs?

00:20:49.990 --> 00:20:51.516
I<00:20:50.071> said,<00:20:50.231> you<00:20:50.263> know,<00:20:50.376> you<00:20:50.408> should<00:20:50.536> just<00:20:50.777> go<00:20:50.858> get<00:20:50.954> a<00:20:50.970> checkup.

00:20:52.479 --> 00:20:57.393
And<00:20:52.543> he<00:20:52.704> called<00:20:53.025> me<00:20:53.202> about<00:20:53.443> 3<00:20:53.684> months<00:20:53.924> later<00:20:54.647> and<00:20:54.727> told<00:20:55.032> me<00:20:55.145> that<00:20:55.353> he<00:20:55.530> had<00:20:55.691> had<00:20:55.851> the<00:20:55.931> same<00:20:56.317> thing<00:20:56.493> and<00:20:56.574> that<00:20:56.718> he<00:20:56.750> was<00:20:56.895> getting<00:20:57.120> treated.

00:20:58.019 --> 00:21:08.520
And<00:20:58.163> I<00:20:58.179> think<00:20:58.902> You<00:20:58.934> know,<00:20:59.944> one<00:21:00.168> thing<00:21:00.264> that's<00:21:00.489> really<00:21:00.585> important<00:21:01.290> is<00:21:02.733> for<00:21:03.054> people<00:21:03.871> to<00:21:04.432> make<00:21:04.673> sure<00:21:04.897> that<00:21:05.010> you<00:21:05.074> don't<00:21:05.539> wait<00:21:05.779> around<00:21:07.623> to<00:21:07.719> go<00:21:07.863> get<00:21:07.959> checked<00:21:08.344> up.

00:21:09.226 --> 00:21:14.307
And<00:21:09.642> especially<00:21:10.204> men<00:21:10.668> are<00:21:10.845> very<00:21:11.085> uncomfortable<00:21:11.726> with<00:21:11.951> their<00:21:12.191> health<00:21:13.089> and<00:21:13.137> going<00:21:13.394> to<00:21:13.426> see<00:21:13.714> the<00:21:13.811> doctor.

00:21:14.917 --> 00:21:32.004
And<00:21:15.494> it's<00:21:15.798> really<00:21:15.911> important<00:21:16.359> that<00:21:16.520> if<00:21:16.616> you<00:21:16.760> ever<00:21:17.001> have<00:21:17.498> a<00:21:17.514> stomachache<00:21:18.363> or<00:21:18.395> you<00:21:18.540> don't<00:21:18.892> feel<00:21:19.021> right,<00:21:19.806> that<00:21:19.966> you<00:21:20.063> go<00:21:20.303> get<00:21:20.463> tested<00:21:22.227> because<00:21:23.012> it's,<00:21:23.686> it's<00:21:23.974> really<00:21:24.728> something<00:21:25.113> that<00:21:25.820> is<00:21:27.105> very<00:21:27.442> fixable,<00:21:29.049> but<00:21:29.273> you<00:21:29.354> have<00:21:29.595> to<00:21:30.494> not<00:21:30.655> let<00:21:31.458> it<00:21:31.603> get<00:21:31.699> too<00:21:31.860> bad.

00:21:32.084 --> 00:21:36.823
In<00:21:32.117> my<00:21:32.341> case,<00:21:33.048> I<00:21:33.064> was<00:21:33.305> like<00:21:33.482> stage<00:21:33.948> 3+,<00:21:34.269> which<00:21:35.795> is<00:21:35.891> not<00:21:36.052> a<00:21:36.116> good<00:21:36.277> place<00:21:36.598> to<00:21:36.743> be.

00:21:36.984 --> 00:21:41.594
I<00:21:37.000> think<00:21:37.305> when<00:21:37.385> I<00:21:37.466> woke<00:21:37.706> up<00:21:37.787> from<00:21:37.947> my<00:21:38.044> colonoscopy,<00:21:38.767> they<00:21:38.863> told<00:21:39.168> me<00:21:39.313> that<00:21:39.473> I<00:21:40.036> should<00:21:40.132> get<00:21:40.293> my<00:21:40.453> personal<00:21:40.791> affairs<00:21:41.176> in<00:21:41.240> order.

00:21:42.140 --> 00:21:48.147
That's<00:21:42.397> not<00:21:42.477> something<00:21:42.766> you<00:21:42.798> really<00:21:43.023> want<00:21:43.168> to<00:21:43.264> hear<00:21:43.425> when<00:21:43.569> you<00:21:43.666> wake<00:21:43.971> up<00:21:44.228> from<00:21:44.453> a<00:21:45.513> fentanyl-induced<00:21:46.300> sleep.

00:21:48.870 --> 00:21:53.896
So,<00:21:49.786> so,<00:21:50.252> you<00:21:50.348> know,<00:21:50.798> I,<00:21:52.340> I'm<00:21:53.206> I'm<00:21:53.399> doing<00:21:53.687> great.

00:21:55.146 --> 00:21:56.316
I<00:21:55.226> got<00:21:55.386> to<00:21:55.451> go<00:21:55.547> swimming<00:21:55.867> this<00:21:56.108> morning.

00:21:56.749 --> 00:21:58.336
I<00:21:56.829> got<00:21:57.054> to<00:21:57.390> go,<00:21:57.695> go<00:21:57.871> for<00:21:57.967> a<00:21:58.095> walk.

00:21:58.432 --> 00:22:00.035
I<00:21:58.448> mean,<00:21:58.673> Jesus,<00:21:59.137> that's<00:21:59.298> the<00:21:59.394> best<00:21:59.570> thing<00:21:59.795> ever.

00:22:00.837 --> 00:22:04.475
Yeah,<00:22:01.141> that's,<00:22:02.023> that's<00:22:02.279> incredible<00:22:03.161> to<00:22:03.241> have<00:22:03.417> to<00:22:03.546> go<00:22:03.722> through<00:22:03.882> something<00:22:04.203> like<00:22:04.363> that.

00:22:04.524 --> 00:22:11.144
My,<00:22:05.149> my<00:22:05.261> son<00:22:05.549> was<00:22:05.646> just<00:22:05.870> diagnosed<00:22:06.431> with,<00:22:06.672> with<00:22:06.928> cancer,<00:22:07.633> um,<00:22:08.595> uh,<00:22:08.691> 3<00:22:08.996> or<00:22:09.092> 4<00:22:09.317> years,<00:22:09.717> uh,<00:22:09.974> 3<00:22:10.134> or<00:22:10.214> 4<00:22:10.310> months<00:22:10.615> ago,<00:22:10.775> sorry.

00:22:11.320 --> 00:22:13.404
And<00:22:11.657> it's<00:22:11.897> just<00:22:12.122> rocked<00:22:12.458> our<00:22:12.619> family,<00:22:13.180> right?

00:22:13.565 --> 00:22:23.615
It's,<00:22:14.446> it's<00:22:14.623> so<00:22:14.943> intense<00:22:15.488> to<00:22:15.648> hear<00:22:16.129> that,<00:22:17.332> uh,<00:22:17.428> someone<00:22:17.893> you<00:22:18.053> love,<00:22:18.374> or<00:22:18.550> you<00:22:18.774> yourself,<00:22:19.255> I'm<00:22:19.416> sure,<00:22:19.977> has<00:22:20.634> cancer<00:22:21.339> and<00:22:22.221> how<00:22:22.541> the<00:22:22.638> whole<00:22:22.798> family<00:22:23.199> would<00:22:23.343> deal<00:22:23.423> with<00:22:23.535> it.

00:22:23.680 --> 00:22:28.709
It<00:22:23.776> must<00:22:23.984> have<00:22:24.064> been<00:22:24.161> trying<00:22:24.561> even<00:22:24.690> for<00:22:24.802> your<00:22:24.947> family<00:22:25.445> and<00:22:25.525> friends<00:22:26.651> and<00:22:26.795> your<00:22:26.956> board<00:22:27.294> at<00:22:27.374> the<00:22:27.519> company?

00:22:28.901 --> 00:22:29.352
It<00:22:29.046> was.

00:22:30.107 --> 00:22:35.866
It's<00:22:30.332> very<00:22:30.589> hard,<00:22:30.975> but<00:22:31.136> I<00:22:31.233> think<00:22:31.538> that<00:22:31.795> it's<00:22:31.956> important<00:22:32.422> that<00:22:33.803> cancer<00:22:34.286> is<00:22:34.770> like<00:22:34.996> any<00:22:35.173> other<00:22:35.415> disease.

00:22:36.624 --> 00:22:39.009
It<00:22:36.785> is<00:22:37.010> not—<00:22:37.832> everyone<00:22:38.139> doesn't<00:22:38.380> die<00:22:38.622> from<00:22:38.864> it.

00:22:39.444 --> 00:22:40.298
It's<00:22:39.557> not<00:22:39.766> the<00:22:39.847> end<00:22:39.992> of<00:22:40.024> the<00:22:40.169> world.

00:22:41.030 --> 00:22:48.391
You<00:22:41.126> just<00:22:41.368> have<00:22:41.625> to<00:22:43.558> be<00:22:43.719> your<00:22:43.945> own<00:22:44.042> best<00:22:44.348> advocate<00:22:45.024> and<00:22:45.475> you<00:22:45.556> really<00:22:45.717> have<00:22:45.894> to<00:22:46.119> work<00:22:46.699> and<00:22:47.166> have<00:22:47.328> a<00:22:47.408> positive<00:22:47.891> attitude.

00:22:49.860 --> 00:22:51.083
What's<00:22:50.026> going<00:22:50.141> to<00:22:50.191> happen<00:22:50.455> is<00:22:50.670> going<00:22:50.736> to<00:22:50.836> happen.

00:22:52.439 --> 00:22:54.352
And<00:22:53.162> it<00:22:53.323> can<00:22:53.420> be<00:22:53.580> very<00:22:53.821> empowering.

00:22:54.866 --> 00:22:59.494
I<00:22:54.882> know<00:22:55.026> that<00:22:55.187> sounds<00:22:55.573> weird,<00:22:56.794> but,<00:22:57.598> but<00:22:57.839> it's<00:22:58.144> how<00:22:58.256> you<00:22:58.321> choose<00:22:58.706> to<00:22:58.803> take<00:22:59.060> it<00:22:59.188> on.

00:22:59.703 --> 00:23:03.089
I'm<00:22:59.911> very<00:23:00.104> sorry<00:23:00.506> to<00:23:00.570> hear<00:23:00.975> about<00:23:02.544> your<00:23:02.627> son.

00:23:04.600 --> 00:23:12.607
Maybe<00:23:04.858> after<00:23:05.116> the<00:23:05.358> podcast,<00:23:06.069> if<00:23:06.149> there's<00:23:06.327> anything<00:23:06.892> that<00:23:06.989> I<00:23:07.118> can<00:23:07.166> do<00:23:07.296> to<00:23:07.360> help<00:23:07.618> you,<00:23:08.087> I'd<00:23:08.184> love<00:23:08.345> to<00:23:08.668> talk<00:23:08.926> to<00:23:08.975> you<00:23:09.007> about<00:23:09.217> MD<00:23:09.540> Anderson<00:23:09.943> and<00:23:10.040> Sloan<00:23:10.347> Kettering<00:23:10.767> and<00:23:11.315> how<00:23:11.477> great<00:23:11.719> I<00:23:11.735> think<00:23:11.961> those<00:23:12.139> places<00:23:12.542> are.

00:23:12.688 --> 00:23:16.683
There<00:23:12.768> are<00:23:12.817> lots<00:23:13.027> of<00:23:13.107> great<00:23:13.269> cancer<00:23:13.560> hospitals,<00:23:14.077> but<00:23:16.100> it's<00:23:16.197> a<00:23:16.246> real<00:23:16.424> challenge.

00:23:16.731 --> 00:23:22.900
I<00:23:16.747> mean,<00:23:16.990> my<00:23:17.233> wife<00:23:17.718> ended<00:23:17.945> up<00:23:18.042> having<00:23:18.349> a<00:23:18.366> stroke<00:23:19.670> after<00:23:20.120> I<00:23:20.240> was<00:23:20.560> cured<00:23:20.740> of<00:23:20.900> cancer,<00:23:21.140> after<00:23:21.660> my<00:23:21.800> cancer<00:23:22.140> went<00:23:22.300> into<00:23:22.420> remission.

00:23:22.900 --> 00:23:23.850
You're<00:23:22.901> never<00:23:23.080> really<00:23:23.300> cured.

00:23:25.260 --> 00:23:27.770
And<00:23:25.520> that<00:23:25.680> was<00:23:25.840> just<00:23:26.040> another<00:23:26.280> gut<00:23:26.600> check,<00:23:27.120> right?

00:23:28.200 --> 00:23:30.260
And<00:23:28.840> she's<00:23:29.100> recovered.

00:23:30.260 --> 00:23:37.300
But<00:23:30.261> some<00:23:31.320> of<00:23:31.400> these<00:23:31.560> things<00:23:31.720> bring<00:23:31.900> your<00:23:32.060> family<00:23:32.360> together<00:23:32.820> and<00:23:33.020> set<00:23:33.180> your<00:23:33.360> priorities<00:23:33.720> in<00:23:34.040> ways<00:23:34.160> that<00:23:34.320> you<00:23:34.440> would<00:23:34.560> have<00:23:34.680> never<00:23:34.860> done<00:23:35.100> naturally,<00:23:35.620> you<00:23:36.300> know?

00:23:37.300 --> 00:23:38.020
Yeah,<00:23:37.680> yeah.

00:23:38.020 --> 00:23:39.090
You<00:23:38.021> got<00:23:38.180> to<00:23:38.280> look<00:23:38.420> at<00:23:38.620> the<00:23:38.740> blessing.

00:23:39.260 --> 00:23:50.896
I<00:23:39.480> guess<00:23:39.620> what<00:23:39.800> I'm<00:23:39.880> saying<00:23:40.060> is,<00:23:40.840> in<00:23:40.860> life,<00:23:41.820> just<00:23:41.900> like<00:23:42.120> with<00:23:42.260> AI<00:23:42.540> that<00:23:42.660> we<00:23:42.760> were<00:23:42.920> talking<00:23:43.140> about<00:23:43.320> before,<00:23:43.700> how<00:23:43.820> do<00:23:43.940> I<00:23:44.080> tie<00:23:44.200> this<00:23:44.360> back<00:23:44.640> to,<00:23:45.000> you<00:23:45.080> know,<00:23:45.560> what<00:23:45.940> we<00:23:46.040> were<00:23:46.140> talking<00:23:46.280> about<00:23:46.480> before<00:23:46.740> is<00:23:47.457> Everything<00:23:47.714> can<00:23:47.939> either<00:23:48.261> be<00:23:48.678> the<00:23:48.743> end<00:23:48.936> of<00:23:49.000> the<00:23:49.080> world<00:23:49.900> or<00:23:50.028> can<00:23:50.076> be<00:23:50.189> an<00:23:50.269> opportunity.

00:23:52.197 --> 00:24:02.336
And<00:23:52.278> it's—<00:23:52.936> we<00:23:53.017> don't<00:23:53.194> get<00:23:53.338> to<00:23:53.419> control<00:23:53.724> how<00:23:53.820> long<00:23:54.142> we're<00:23:54.302> here,<00:23:54.624> we<00:23:54.656> don't<00:23:54.865> get<00:23:54.961> to<00:23:55.090> control<00:23:55.347> what<00:23:55.491> happens<00:23:55.829> to<00:23:55.925> us,<00:23:56.134> but<00:23:56.230> it's<00:23:56.471> what<00:23:56.632> you<00:23:56.713> choose<00:23:57.098> to<00:23:57.195> make<00:23:57.436> of<00:23:57.516> it,<00:23:58.464> um,<00:24:00.151> ultimately<00:24:00.489> defines<00:24:01.919> your<00:24:02.015> life.

00:24:03.059 --> 00:24:03.300
Yeah.

00:24:04.023 --> 00:24:07.687
How,<00:24:04.570> uh,<00:24:05.132> how<00:24:05.293> hard<00:24:05.534> was<00:24:05.775> it<00:24:06.016> to<00:24:06.610> stop<00:24:07.060> drinking<00:24:07.382> alcohol?

00:24:08.506 --> 00:24:08.731
Easy.

00:24:09.487 --> 00:24:09.696
Really?

00:24:10.049 --> 00:24:10.644
I<00:24:10.194> just<00:24:10.322> stopped.

00:24:11.238 --> 00:24:17.642
Yeah,<00:24:11.897> I<00:24:12.041> just<00:24:12.202> was<00:24:12.299> like,<00:24:12.524> hey,<00:24:13.262> It<00:24:13.727> would<00:24:13.888> almost<00:24:14.145> be<00:24:14.289> like<00:24:14.385> if<00:24:14.530> they<00:24:14.626> told<00:24:14.931> you,<00:24:15.027> this<00:24:15.187> is<00:24:15.284> a<00:24:15.348> chalice<00:24:15.749> of<00:24:15.781> poison,<00:24:16.551> would<00:24:16.695> you<00:24:16.792> like<00:24:16.888> to<00:24:17.032> have<00:24:17.257> some?

00:24:18.139 --> 00:24:19.118
Yeah,<00:24:18.877> yeah.

00:24:19.182 --> 00:24:22.037
It's<00:24:20.064> like,<00:24:20.225> you<00:24:20.257> know<00:24:20.321> what,<00:24:21.283> I<00:24:21.428> think<00:24:21.540> I'll<00:24:21.684> pass.

00:24:22.551 --> 00:24:27.139
Uh,<00:24:23.465> uh,<00:24:23.914> I<00:24:24.476> think<00:24:24.797> I,<00:24:24.957> I<00:24:24.973> don't<00:24:25.214> think<00:24:25.438> I<00:24:25.535> need<00:24:25.775> any<00:24:25.936> more<00:24:26.096> of<00:24:26.176> that<00:24:26.337> chalice<00:24:26.658> of<00:24:26.882> poison.

00:24:27.845 --> 00:24:32.689
Um,<00:24:28.807> and<00:24:29.529> you<00:24:29.625> just<00:24:29.786> find<00:24:30.091> other<00:24:30.347> things<00:24:30.652> that,<00:24:30.973> you<00:24:31.069> know,<00:24:31.711> you<00:24:31.807> have<00:24:31.951> a<00:24:32.032> lot<00:24:32.144> more<00:24:32.337> energy.

00:24:32.770 --> 00:24:33.572
I<00:24:32.818> can<00:24:32.994> tell<00:24:33.139> you<00:24:33.235> that<00:24:33.459> much.

00:24:34.278 --> 00:24:35.160
Yeah,<00:24:34.983> yeah.

00:24:35.385 --> 00:24:37.807
Uh,<00:24:36.203> that,<00:24:36.604> that<00:24:36.748> makes<00:24:37.005> a<00:24:37.069> lot<00:24:37.245> of<00:24:37.278> sense.

00:24:38.433 --> 00:24:43.747
I<00:24:38.449> also<00:24:38.769> wonder<00:24:40.198> Ted,<00:24:40.599> uh,<00:24:41.161> just<00:24:41.659> why<00:24:41.981> New<00:24:42.286> Orleans<00:24:42.719> is<00:24:42.864> so<00:24:43.008> important<00:24:43.426> to<00:24:43.570> you.

00:24:43.892 --> 00:24:46.493
I,<00:24:44.149> I<00:24:44.229> get<00:24:44.389> a<00:24:44.405> sense<00:24:44.855> that<00:24:45.514> you<00:24:45.738> love<00:24:45.995> that<00:24:46.236> city.

00:24:47.023 --> 00:24:59.276
Yeah,<00:24:47.296> so,<00:24:47.906> um,<00:24:48.244> I<00:24:48.404> moved<00:24:48.725> here<00:24:49.609> because<00:24:49.994> my<00:24:50.171> parents<00:24:51.118> had<00:24:51.295> moved<00:24:52.082> back<00:24:52.178> to<00:24:52.419> New<00:24:52.499> Orleans<00:24:52.805> where<00:24:52.901> my<00:24:53.061> mother<00:24:53.302> is<00:24:53.463> from,<00:24:54.491> uh,<00:24:54.828> in,<00:24:55.165> uh,<00:24:55.711> 2018,<00:24:57.397> um,<00:24:57.622> after<00:24:58.843> I<00:24:58.987> was<00:24:59.084> ill.

00:24:59.646 --> 00:25:04.046
I<00:24:59.710> had<00:24:59.951> a<00:25:00.224> surgery<00:25:00.658> at<00:25:00.834> MD<00:25:01.091> Anderson<00:25:01.412> for<00:25:01.573> a<00:25:01.637> hernia<00:25:01.974> and<00:25:02.119> I<00:25:02.167> decided<00:25:02.504> to<00:25:02.536> come<00:25:02.729> to<00:25:02.793> New<00:25:03.002> Orleans<00:25:03.195> to<00:25:03.259> see<00:25:03.484> my<00:25:03.645> parents.

00:25:04.544 --> 00:25:08.608
This<00:25:04.704> was<00:25:04.929> sort<00:25:05.026> of<00:25:05.170> on<00:25:05.251> the<00:25:05.427> backside<00:25:05.973> of<00:25:06.053> COVID<00:25:07.435> And<00:25:07.499> my<00:25:07.676> father<00:25:07.997> looked<00:25:08.222> horrible.

00:25:09.428 --> 00:25:17.848
And<00:25:10.552> my<00:25:10.729> wife<00:25:10.954> said<00:25:11.147> to<00:25:11.227> me<00:25:11.452> that<00:25:11.613> when<00:25:11.758> I<00:25:11.838> was<00:25:11.934> really<00:25:12.272> sick<00:25:12.577> with<00:25:12.722> cancer,<00:25:13.284> I<00:25:13.316> said,<00:25:13.638> if<00:25:13.847> I'm<00:25:14.007> not<00:25:14.264> going<00:25:14.345> to<00:25:14.409> make<00:25:14.746> it,<00:25:15.630> we<00:25:15.710> should<00:25:16.016> move<00:25:16.176> to<00:25:16.209> New<00:25:16.418> Orleans<00:25:16.691> to<00:25:16.835> be<00:25:16.916> with<00:25:17.317> our<00:25:17.478> family.

00:25:18.828 --> 00:25:25.673
And<00:25:20.756> when<00:25:20.917> she<00:25:21.029> had<00:25:21.158> a<00:25:21.190> stroke<00:25:22.379> and<00:25:22.459> she<00:25:22.620> woke<00:25:22.845> up<00:25:22.877> from<00:25:23.086> her<00:25:23.279> stroke,<00:25:23.809> I<00:25:23.841> said,<00:25:24.372> you<00:25:24.452> know,<00:25:25.175> what<00:25:25.255> do<00:25:25.336> you<00:25:25.416> want<00:25:25.593> to<00:25:25.625> do?

00:25:25.737 --> 00:25:28.614
And<00:25:25.818> she<00:25:25.898> goes,<00:25:26.236> I<00:25:26.396> don't<00:25:26.637> think<00:25:26.878> we<00:25:26.926> need<00:25:27.119> to<00:25:27.200> die<00:25:27.601> to<00:25:27.682> be<00:25:27.778> near<00:25:28.003> our<00:25:28.164> family.

00:25:29.273 --> 00:25:32.229
Why<00:25:29.465> don't<00:25:29.674> we<00:25:30.012> get<00:25:30.638> down<00:25:30.895> to<00:25:30.976> New<00:25:31.040> Orleans<00:25:31.297> to<00:25:31.378> be<00:25:31.474> around<00:25:31.683> our<00:25:31.924> family?

00:25:32.666 --> 00:25:36.356
And<00:25:32.730> so<00:25:32.908> for<00:25:33.070> me,<00:25:33.232> New<00:25:33.459> Orleans<00:25:33.799> really<00:25:34.042> represents<00:25:34.689> where<00:25:35.563> my<00:25:35.725> family<00:25:36.146> is.

00:25:37.101 --> 00:25:46.238
Um,<00:25:38.558> I<00:25:38.655> do<00:25:38.833> spend,<00:25:39.691> um,<00:25:40.031> some<00:25:40.257> of<00:25:40.338> the<00:25:40.371> summer<00:25:41.405> in<00:25:41.646> California,<00:25:43.080> um,<00:25:43.982> but<00:25:44.611> because<00:25:44.788> it's<00:25:45.014> hot<00:25:45.271> down<00:25:45.368> here<00:25:45.433> in<00:25:45.513> the<00:25:45.771> summer.

00:25:46.480 --> 00:25:47.140
Yeah,<00:25:46.657> for<00:25:46.963> sure.

00:25:47.205 --> 00:25:48.027
Like<00:25:47.382> it<00:25:47.527> is<00:25:47.592> today.

00:25:48.639 --> 00:25:52.208
Um,<00:25:49.042> but,<00:25:49.622> um,<00:25:50.987> I<00:25:51.051> think<00:25:51.164> it's<00:25:51.373> really<00:25:51.533> about<00:25:51.855> family.

00:25:52.272 --> 00:25:55.341
It's<00:25:53.140> a<00:25:53.220> very<00:25:53.477> family-oriented<00:25:55.003> place.

00:25:55.405 --> 00:25:59.389
Most<00:25:55.630> people<00:25:55.951> think<00:25:56.112> Mardi<00:25:56.353> Gras<00:25:56.690> is<00:25:57.397> for<00:25:57.895> college<00:25:58.216> kids<00:25:58.602> who<00:25:58.763> want<00:25:58.843> to<00:25:58.875> see<00:25:59.180> things.

00:26:00.097 --> 00:26:01.011
In<00:26:00.209> the<00:26:00.353> French<00:26:00.578> Quarter.

00:26:01.461 --> 00:26:10.352
I<00:26:01.557> always<00:26:01.782> have<00:26:01.942> always<00:26:02.151> thought<00:26:02.440> about<00:26:02.632> Mardi<00:26:02.841> Gras<00:26:03.242> as<00:26:03.338> a<00:26:03.483> family<00:26:03.884> event<00:26:04.205> where<00:26:04.430> kids<00:26:04.671> go<00:26:04.703> out<00:26:04.751> and<00:26:04.943> sit<00:26:05.232> on<00:26:05.393> ladders<00:26:05.810> and<00:26:05.890> get<00:26:06.115> free<00:26:06.372> beads,<00:26:06.853> and<00:26:06.917> it's<00:26:07.158> the<00:26:07.640> most<00:26:07.896> fun<00:26:08.057> a<00:26:08.217> 6<00:26:08.554> or<00:26:08.683> 8-year-old<00:26:09.164> or<00:26:09.325> a<00:26:09.341> 10-year-old<00:26:09.806> can<00:26:09.983> ever<00:26:10.207> have.

00:26:11.251 --> 00:26:13.979
Um,<00:26:11.909> and<00:26:12.053> I<00:26:12.133> think<00:26:12.310> it's<00:26:12.470> a<00:26:12.486> very<00:26:12.872> much<00:26:13.112> a<00:26:13.193> family<00:26:13.594> culture.

00:26:14.701 --> 00:26:18.457
Um,<00:26:15.183> and<00:26:15.295> so<00:26:15.600> that<00:26:16.627> at<00:26:16.723> this<00:26:16.964> point<00:26:17.125> in<00:26:17.189> my<00:26:17.285> life<00:26:17.751> has<00:26:17.911> become<00:26:18.168> a<00:26:18.232> priority.

00:26:19.275 --> 00:26:25.422
How<00:26:19.452> is<00:26:19.596> the<00:26:19.676> city<00:26:20.318> holding<00:26:20.720> up<00:26:20.896> from<00:26:21.201> a<00:26:21.763> business<00:26:22.581> tech<00:26:23.368> ecosystem,<00:26:24.363> startup<00:26:24.828> ecosystem?

00:26:26.016 --> 00:26:32.155
Uh,<00:26:26.577> are<00:26:26.737> there<00:26:26.978> other<00:26:27.619> like,<00:26:28.196> uh,<00:26:28.516> big<00:26:28.741> CEOs<00:26:29.222> like<00:26:29.382> yourself<00:26:29.943> that,<00:26:30.825> um,<00:26:31.065> you<00:26:31.161> know,<00:26:31.306> have<00:26:31.402> headquartered<00:26:31.963> there?

00:26:33.261 --> 00:26:35.842
I'm<00:26:33.406> interested<00:26:33.806> in<00:26:33.887> just<00:26:34.047> kind<00:26:34.207> of<00:26:34.271> the<00:26:34.351> whole<00:26:34.752> general<00:26:35.249> business<00:26:35.586> scene.

00:26:35.890 --> 00:26:40.427
Yeah,<00:26:36.227> so<00:26:36.612> I<00:26:36.772> think<00:26:36.997> I'm<00:26:37.173> probably<00:26:37.734> the,<00:26:38.119> uh,<00:26:38.776> the<00:26:38.840> oddball,<00:26:39.882> uh,<00:26:40.138> in<00:26:40.203> the<00:26:40.235> mix.

00:26:40.475 --> 00:26:59.748
So<00:26:40.844> I<00:26:41.902> decided<00:26:42.383> during<00:26:42.575> COVID<00:26:43.088> that<00:26:43.248> everyone<00:26:43.489> from<00:26:43.809> Copado<00:26:44.290> was<00:26:44.451> going<00:26:44.515> to<00:26:44.611> work<00:26:44.659> from<00:26:45.012> home,<00:26:46.070> um,<00:26:46.775> and<00:26:47.496> we're<00:26:47.993> a<00:26:48.074> completely<00:26:48.570> distributed<00:26:49.115> business,<00:26:50.141> um,<00:26:51.039> and<00:26:51.536> so<00:26:52.565> that<00:26:52.792> allowed<00:26:53.133> me<00:26:53.441> to<00:26:55.468> also<00:26:55.841> distribute<00:26:56.376> myself<00:26:56.943> to<00:26:57.089> where<00:26:57.186> I<00:26:57.268> wanted<00:26:57.592> to<00:26:57.738> live,<00:26:58.467> which<00:26:58.970> was<00:26:59.197> New<00:26:59.294> Orleans.

00:27:00.887 --> 00:27:14.113
I,<00:27:00.984> like<00:27:01.145> I<00:27:01.242> said,<00:27:01.533> I<00:27:01.629> spend<00:27:02.049> some<00:27:02.259> time<00:27:02.501> in<00:27:02.598> California,<00:27:04.034> probably<00:27:04.454> 2<00:27:04.615> months<00:27:04.793> of<00:27:04.922> the<00:27:05.083> year,<00:27:06.068> but<00:27:06.213> I<00:27:06.294> also<00:27:06.536> spend<00:27:06.762> a<00:27:06.794> lot<00:27:06.923> of<00:27:06.972> time<00:27:07.182> on<00:27:07.262> the<00:27:07.359> road<00:27:07.585> because<00:27:07.827> we<00:27:07.908> have<00:27:08.005> people<00:27:08.263> in<00:27:08.408> Amsterdam,<00:27:09.750> Helsinki,<00:27:10.493> Madrid,<00:27:12.044> Chicago,<00:27:13.095> you<00:27:13.127> know,<00:27:13.240> really<00:27:13.483> all<00:27:13.596> over<00:27:13.806> the<00:27:13.887> place.

00:27:14.161 --> 00:27:16.569
And<00:27:14.242> so<00:27:14.372> I<00:27:14.468> travel<00:27:14.873> a<00:27:14.889> lot<00:27:15.196> to<00:27:15.277> see<00:27:15.519> people<00:27:15.842> who<00:27:15.988> work<00:27:16.165> for<00:27:16.392> us.

00:27:18.377 --> 00:27:26.947
And<00:27:19.180> New<00:27:19.260> Orleans<00:27:19.597> has<00:27:19.757> been<00:27:19.982> fine<00:27:21.105> as<00:27:21.282> a<00:27:22.084> Central<00:27:22.582> Standard<00:27:23.047> Time<00:27:23.304> zone<00:27:23.722> location<00:27:24.315> for<00:27:24.476> me<00:27:24.572> to<00:27:24.717> be<00:27:24.829> able<00:27:25.005> to<00:27:25.054> kind<00:27:25.294> of<00:27:25.439> operate<00:27:25.696> a<00:27:25.776> global<00:27:26.097> business<00:27:26.498> from.

00:27:27.381 --> 00:27:31.393
I<00:27:27.445> would<00:27:27.557> not<00:27:27.782> say<00:27:28.023> there<00:27:28.167> are<00:27:28.199> a<00:27:28.264> lot<00:27:28.424> of<00:27:28.665> tech<00:27:28.906> companies<00:27:29.628> in<00:27:30.494> New<00:27:30.655> Orleans<00:27:30.944> today.

00:27:31.955 --> 00:27:44.779
I<00:27:32.099> do<00:27:32.276> think<00:27:32.982> that<00:27:33.319> it<00:27:33.640> is<00:27:34.266> ripe<00:27:34.764> for<00:27:35.165> development,<00:27:36.353> um,<00:27:37.733> but<00:27:38.038> for<00:27:38.278> us,<00:27:38.519> we're<00:27:38.760> a,<00:27:39.723> you<00:27:39.899> know,<00:27:40.124> everyone's<00:27:40.525> remote<00:27:40.943> business,<00:27:41.649> and<00:27:41.729> so<00:27:41.986> it's<00:27:42.211> been<00:27:42.291> a<00:27:42.387> very<00:27:42.692> convenient<00:27:43.061> location<00:27:44.057> to<00:27:44.137> operate<00:27:44.619> from.

Um,<00:28:38.562> This<00:28:38.948> work<00:28:39.124> from<00:28:39.285> home<00:28:39.606> and<00:28:39.767> being<00:28:39.992> an<00:28:40.393> entirely<00:28:40.891> distributed<00:28:41.453> workforce<00:28:42.080> now<00:28:42.160> and<00:28:42.417> distributed<00:28:42.979> company,<00:28:43.943> what<00:28:44.087> have<00:28:44.184> been<00:28:44.424> the<00:28:44.569> challenges<00:28:45.934> of<00:28:46.175> that?

00:28:46.657 --> 00:28:58.655
And<00:28:46.914> you<00:28:47.010> know,<00:28:47.556> you<00:28:47.717> know<00:28:47.958> as<00:28:48.102> well<00:28:48.279> as<00:28:48.424> anybody,<00:28:48.841> just<00:28:49.002> kind<00:28:49.179> of<00:28:49.323> the<00:28:50.206> discussion<00:28:50.833> and<00:28:50.929> debate<00:28:51.315> that's<00:28:51.475> happening<00:28:51.829> around<00:28:52.214> that<00:28:52.455> now<00:28:52.776> post-COVID<00:28:54.527> and<00:28:55.330> how<00:28:55.426> much<00:28:55.812> time<00:28:56.213> should<00:28:56.390> be<00:28:56.470> spent<00:28:56.872> in<00:28:57.016> the<00:28:57.177> office<00:28:57.594> versus<00:28:57.980> working<00:28:58.141> from<00:28:58.381> home.

00:28:58.703 --> 00:29:00.951
A<00:28:58.735> lot<00:28:58.895> of<00:28:58.960> companies<00:28:59.425> going<00:29:00.068> hybrid<00:29:00.469> schedule.

00:29:01.032 --> 00:29:02.188
How<00:29:01.192> have<00:29:01.369> you<00:29:01.529> thought<00:29:01.835> that<00:29:02.011> through?

00:29:02.252 --> 00:29:04.629
It<00:29:02.332> sounds<00:29:02.573> like<00:29:02.798> you've<00:29:02.911> stayed<00:29:03.296> just<00:29:03.537> completely<00:29:04.019> distributed.

00:29:05.127 --> 00:29:07.004
Yeah,<00:29:05.608> so<00:29:06.491> it's<00:29:06.651> hard.

00:29:07.534 --> 00:29:14.113
It<00:29:07.630> was<00:29:07.871> really<00:29:08.336> easy<00:29:09.235> during<00:29:09.540> COVID<00:29:10.759> It<00:29:10.903> was<00:29:11.224> the<00:29:11.305> most<00:29:11.481> productive<00:29:11.979> days<00:29:12.604> when<00:29:12.765> no<00:29:12.909> one<00:29:13.006> had<00:29:13.166> anything<00:29:13.567> else<00:29:13.728> to<00:29:13.824> do.

00:29:14.530 --> 00:29:21.558
But<00:29:14.690> it<00:29:14.771> is<00:29:14.995> really<00:29:15.316> hard,<00:29:16.279> um,<00:29:16.696> when<00:29:17.659> you<00:29:17.755> have<00:29:17.916> competing<00:29:18.461> things<00:29:18.686> to<00:29:18.782> do<00:29:19.569> and<00:29:19.809> when<00:29:19.890> you<00:29:19.986> don't<00:29:20.210> have<00:29:20.307> to<00:29:20.467> be<00:29:20.515> at<00:29:20.612> your<00:29:20.772> desk<00:29:21.093> all<00:29:21.173> the<00:29:21.270> time.

00:29:22.296 --> 00:29:34.906
Um,<00:29:23.436> what<00:29:23.580> I<00:29:23.757> found<00:29:24.094> is<00:29:24.222> that<00:29:24.318> we've<00:29:24.543> been<00:29:24.639> able<00:29:24.960> to<00:29:25.763> achieve<00:29:26.180> our<00:29:26.388> goals<00:29:27.351> and<00:29:27.528> be<00:29:27.688> productive<00:29:28.892> regardless,<00:29:30.159> um,<00:29:30.641> and<00:29:30.737> that<00:29:31.138> has<00:29:31.443> really<00:29:31.700> made<00:29:32.005> it<00:29:34.649> work.

00:29:35.627 --> 00:29:52.389
What<00:29:35.771> we're<00:29:35.883> doing<00:29:36.188> probably<00:29:36.508> more<00:29:36.813> of<00:29:37.053> today<00:29:37.454> than<00:29:37.534> I<00:29:37.550> would<00:29:37.710> say<00:29:37.934> we<00:29:38.030> were<00:29:38.111> doing<00:29:38.367> 6<00:29:38.736> months<00:29:38.912> ago<00:29:39.056> or<00:29:39.232> 12<00:29:39.537> months<00:29:39.729> ago<00:29:40.739> is<00:29:40.787> spending<00:29:41.155> a<00:29:41.235> lot<00:29:41.460> of<00:29:41.556> time<00:29:41.860> having<00:29:42.197> regional<00:29:42.598> meetings<00:29:43.639> where<00:29:43.783> we'll,<00:29:44.280> for<00:29:44.440> example,<00:29:44.841> next<00:29:45.081> week<00:29:45.242> in<00:29:45.386> Houston<00:29:45.803> we'll<00:29:45.931> have<00:29:46.043> 250<00:29:46.748> people<00:29:47.149> come<00:29:47.245> to<00:29:47.389> Houston<00:29:47.678> for<00:29:49.168> 3<00:29:49.408> days<00:29:50.690> to<00:29:50.834> do<00:29:51.091> a<00:29:51.107> second<00:29:51.475> half<00:29:51.620> of<00:29:51.716> the<00:29:51.796> year<00:29:51.956> kickoff.

00:29:52.918 --> 00:30:05.530
And<00:29:52.982> we'll<00:29:53.158> follow<00:29:53.415> up<00:29:53.511> in<00:29:53.639> Amsterdam<00:29:54.152> at<00:29:54.200> the<00:29:54.440> end<00:29:54.552> of<00:29:54.697> August,<00:29:55.177> and<00:29:55.257> then<00:29:55.338> we'll<00:29:55.562> follow<00:29:55.979> up<00:29:56.059> in,<00:29:56.443> uh,<00:29:56.780> Jaipur<00:29:57.870> in<00:29:58.270> September,<00:29:59.140> and<00:30:00.090> I<00:30:00.450> have<00:30:00.830> told<00:30:01.210> my<00:30:01.430> teams,<00:30:02.030> you've<00:30:02.210> got<00:30:02.390> to<00:30:02.610> go<00:30:02.670> out<00:30:02.850> in<00:30:03.010> the<00:30:03.090> field<00:30:03.650> and<00:30:04.050> spend<00:30:04.310> time<00:30:04.590> with<00:30:04.750> your<00:30:04.830> colleagues.

00:30:06.270 --> 00:30:08.540
You've<00:30:06.390> got<00:30:06.470> to—<00:30:06.870> I<00:30:06.871> don't<00:30:06.990> care<00:30:07.130> if<00:30:07.250> it's<00:30:07.330> going<00:30:07.510> to<00:30:07.670> have<00:30:07.750> lunch<00:30:07.970> with<00:30:08.190> them.

00:30:08.850 --> 00:30:10.360
I<00:30:08.950> don't<00:30:09.090> care<00:30:09.230> if<00:30:09.350> it's<00:30:09.450> having<00:30:09.630> a<00:30:09.790> team<00:30:10.010> meeting.

00:30:10.690 --> 00:30:19.840
You<00:30:10.850> have<00:30:10.990> to<00:30:11.150> get<00:30:11.230> on<00:30:11.370> a<00:30:11.630> plane,<00:30:12.530> find<00:30:12.610> a<00:30:12.770> location<00:30:13.130> to<00:30:13.330> meet<00:30:13.530> up,<00:30:13.790> but<00:30:13.910> you've<00:30:14.170> got<00:30:14.310> to<00:30:14.510> press<00:30:14.630> the<00:30:14.930> flesh<00:30:15.130> with<00:30:15.370> your<00:30:15.590> people<00:30:16.070> because<00:30:16.750> people<00:30:17.210> have<00:30:17.570> to<00:30:17.710> see<00:30:17.910> people<00:30:18.210> in<00:30:18.350> order<00:30:18.550> to<00:30:18.670> be<00:30:18.750> invested<00:30:19.070> in<00:30:19.290> them.

00:30:20.030 --> 00:30:25.470
Do<00:30:20.150> we<00:30:20.250> need<00:30:20.430> to<00:30:20.610> have<00:30:20.630> a<00:30:20.770> physical<00:30:21.090> office<00:30:21.510> or<00:30:21.750> a<00:30:21.910> water<00:30:22.150> cooler<00:30:22.450> where<00:30:23.050> people<00:30:23.330> sit<00:30:23.550> around<00:30:23.830> the<00:30:24.070> water<00:30:24.230> cooler<00:30:24.610> to<00:30:24.890> be<00:30:25.050> connected?

00:30:27.137 --> 00:30:32.759
No,<00:30:28.300> I<00:30:28.316> think<00:30:28.542> you<00:30:28.704> do<00:30:28.946> have<00:30:29.189> to<00:30:29.851> invest<00:30:30.336> a<00:30:30.352> certain<00:30:30.659> portion<00:30:30.917> of<00:30:30.950> your<00:30:31.079> time<00:30:32.097> in<00:30:32.178> getting<00:30:32.501> out<00:30:32.679> there.

00:30:32.905 --> 00:30:38.622
And<00:30:32.986> I<00:30:33.083> had<00:30:33.228> made<00:30:33.325> a<00:30:33.487> goal<00:30:33.648> of<00:30:33.874> mine<00:30:34.278> for<00:30:34.440> the<00:30:34.601> year<00:30:34.860> to<00:30:35.102> at<00:30:35.248> least<00:30:35.490> see<00:30:35.668> a<00:30:35.749> third<00:30:35.991> of<00:30:36.040> our<00:30:36.217> people<00:30:37.363> by<00:30:37.847> 4<00:30:38.008> months<00:30:38.331> into<00:30:38.396> the<00:30:38.557> year.

00:30:38.670 --> 00:30:39.590
And<00:30:38.799> I<00:30:38.832> achieved<00:30:39.203> that<00:30:39.445> goal.

00:30:39.848 --> 00:30:40.187
Right.

00:30:41.139 --> 00:30:49.595
And<00:30:41.720> I've<00:30:42.108> tried<00:30:42.366> to<00:30:42.544> say<00:30:42.770> to<00:30:42.915> people,<00:30:43.576> just<00:30:43.706> because<00:30:43.964> you<00:30:44.045> work<00:30:44.303> at<00:30:44.448> home<00:30:44.642> doesn't<00:30:44.948> mean<00:30:45.094> you<00:30:45.190> work<00:30:45.496> alone<00:30:47.039> and<00:30:47.425> we've<00:30:47.521> got<00:30:47.779> to<00:30:47.827> get<00:30:47.988> out<00:30:48.148> there<00:30:48.630> and<00:30:48.904> see<00:30:49.048> each<00:30:49.354> other.

00:30:50.093 --> 00:30:54.079
And<00:30:50.479> honestly,<00:30:50.881> I<00:30:50.897> think<00:30:51.122> that<00:30:51.443> that's<00:30:51.765> the<00:30:51.797> most<00:30:52.022> important<00:30:52.568> part<00:30:52.745> about<00:30:53.050> working<00:30:53.549> as<00:30:53.709> a<00:30:53.790> group.

00:30:54.686 --> 00:30:57.486
I<00:30:54.767> also<00:30:55.090> think<00:30:55.398> that<00:30:55.576> teams<00:30:55.980> need<00:30:56.175> to<00:30:56.223> come<00:30:56.337> together<00:30:56.855> when<00:30:56.952> they're<00:30:57.114> planning.

00:30:59.267 --> 00:31:06.136
I<00:30:59.348> think<00:30:59.606> they<00:30:59.767> probably<00:31:00.251> also<00:31:00.573> need<00:31:00.622> to<00:31:00.735> come<00:31:00.880> together<00:31:01.218> at<00:31:01.379> the<00:31:01.605> end<00:31:02.250> of<00:31:02.347> a<00:31:02.411> project<00:31:03.701> in<00:31:03.798> person<00:31:04.668> so<00:31:04.765> they<00:31:04.910> can<00:31:04.959> do<00:31:05.233> a<00:31:05.249> postmortem.

00:31:06.377 --> 00:31:10.066
That's<00:31:06.555> not<00:31:06.781> just<00:31:06.942> a<00:31:07.007> 15-minute<00:31:07.832> gong<00:31:08.140> call,<00:31:09.127> right?

00:31:10.746 --> 00:31:14.388
But<00:31:10.892> I<00:31:10.989> think<00:31:11.151> you<00:31:11.183> can<00:31:11.296> be<00:31:11.539> very<00:31:11.782> productive<00:31:13.724> working<00:31:13.983> from<00:31:14.145> home.

00:31:15.524 --> 00:31:18.605
And<00:31:15.605> I<00:31:15.766> think<00:31:15.928> a<00:31:16.008> lot<00:31:16.170> of<00:31:16.250> people<00:31:16.815> in<00:31:16.911> sales<00:31:17.524> have<00:31:17.621> worked<00:31:17.782> from<00:31:18.008> home<00:31:18.186> forever.

00:31:19.379 --> 00:31:21.137
And<00:31:19.653> it's<00:31:20.024> these<00:31:20.202> other<00:31:20.766> jobs.

00:31:21.347 --> 00:31:30.626
It's<00:31:21.718> really<00:31:21.879> hard,<00:31:22.282> honestly,<00:31:23.222> to<00:31:23.366> be<00:31:23.527> a<00:31:23.623> young<00:31:23.864> person<00:31:24.892> in<00:31:25.133> the<00:31:25.294> current<00:31:25.631> workforce<00:31:26.675> because<00:31:27.221> the<00:31:27.317> mentorship<00:31:28.602> is<00:31:28.747> very<00:31:29.004> hard<00:31:29.309> to<00:31:29.389> achieve<00:31:29.871> from<00:31:30.337> a<00:31:30.353> distance.

00:31:30.755 --> 00:31:39.525
One<00:31:30.915> thing<00:31:31.076> we<00:31:31.172> have<00:31:31.413> done<00:31:32.313> is<00:31:32.393> set<00:31:32.602> up<00:31:32.698> an<00:31:32.843> office<00:31:33.068> in<00:31:33.244> Chicago<00:31:33.823> where<00:31:34.080> our<00:31:34.288> younger<00:31:34.706> SDRs<00:31:35.365> and<00:31:35.509> BDRs<00:31:36.633> go<00:31:36.858> in<00:31:37.597> a<00:31:37.678> couple<00:31:37.886> of<00:31:37.918> days<00:31:38.159> a<00:31:38.240> week<00:31:38.481> to<00:31:38.545> work<00:31:38.802> with<00:31:38.946> each<00:31:39.187> other.

00:31:40.071 --> 00:31:42.255
And<00:31:40.569> I<00:31:40.649> think<00:31:40.874> that<00:31:41.131> is<00:31:41.259> extremely<00:31:41.854> important.

00:31:43.540 --> 00:31:48.809
But,<00:31:43.942> but<00:31:44.102> it's<00:31:44.424> different<00:31:44.809> to<00:31:44.905> different<00:31:45.628> types<00:31:45.950> of<00:31:46.014> workers,<00:31:46.415> different<00:31:46.672> stages<00:31:47.861> of<00:31:48.279> their<00:31:48.503> careers.

00:31:49.708 --> 00:31:53.721
I—<00:31:50.366> we<00:31:50.607> end<00:31:50.767> every<00:31:51.008> interview<00:31:51.313> the<00:31:51.345> same<00:31:51.570> way,<00:31:51.731> and<00:31:51.811> you've<00:31:51.955> been<00:31:52.148> super<00:31:52.453> generous<00:31:52.838> with<00:31:52.935> your<00:31:53.015> time,<00:31:53.416> Ted.

00:31:53.882 --> 00:32:04.703
I<00:31:54.364> really<00:31:54.604> appreciate<00:31:55.182> it,<00:31:55.407> and<00:31:55.728> everything<00:31:56.065> you've<00:31:56.483> said<00:31:56.788> to<00:31:56.948> us<00:31:57.671> is<00:31:57.896> fascinating,<00:31:59.019> and,<00:31:59.244> you<00:31:59.356> know,<00:31:59.597> the<00:31:59.678> things<00:31:59.934> you've<00:32:00.143> gone<00:32:00.400> through<00:32:01.428> and<00:32:01.508> who<00:32:01.668> you<00:32:01.909> are<00:32:02.086> as<00:32:02.246> a<00:32:02.327> leader<00:32:03.595> is<00:32:03.836> inspiring.

00:32:06.099 --> 00:32:13.083
At<00:32:06.244> CEO.com,<00:32:06.886> we<00:32:06.982> believe<00:32:08.813> the<00:32:08.893> chances<00:32:09.471> one<00:32:10.033> gives<00:32:10.370> are<00:32:10.434> just<00:32:10.675> as<00:32:10.755> important<00:32:11.140> as<00:32:11.221> the<00:32:11.317> chances<00:32:11.702> one<00:32:11.879> takes<00:32:12.120> on<00:32:12.264> themselves,<00:32:12.923> right?

00:32:13.725 --> 00:32:18.445
And<00:32:13.870> I<00:32:13.966> wonder<00:32:14.287> if<00:32:14.448> there's<00:32:15.090> anyone<00:32:15.796> who<00:32:15.973> gave<00:32:16.358> you<00:32:16.519> a<00:32:16.551> chance<00:32:17.000> that<00:32:17.097> stands<00:32:17.498> out<00:32:17.723> when<00:32:17.883> you<00:32:18.044> hear<00:32:18.221> that.

00:32:19.500 --> 00:32:35.683
I've<00:32:19.776> been<00:32:19.987> very<00:32:20.247> lucky<00:32:20.733> in<00:32:20.814> that<00:32:20.977> I<00:32:21.058> got<00:32:21.301> to<00:32:21.447> work<00:32:21.609> with<00:32:21.788> my<00:32:22.015> father<00:32:22.988> for<00:32:24.530> over<00:32:24.789> 20<00:32:25.098> years,<00:32:26.152> and<00:32:26.493> we<00:32:26.574> got<00:32:26.736> to<00:32:26.817> go<00:32:26.931> to<00:32:27.110> lunch,<00:32:28.495> um,<00:32:30.832> 2<00:32:31.009> to<00:32:31.074> 3<00:32:31.316> times<00:32:31.638> a<00:32:31.735> week,<00:32:32.363> and<00:32:32.460> we<00:32:32.621> got<00:32:32.943> to<00:32:34.055> start<00:32:34.394> 3<00:32:34.635> businesses<00:32:35.119> with<00:32:35.344> each<00:32:35.490> other.

00:32:36.635 --> 00:32:47.747
Um,<00:32:37.362> and<00:32:37.701> I<00:32:37.927> would<00:32:38.104> never<00:32:39.137> have<00:32:39.395> achieved<00:32:40.929> the<00:32:41.026> things<00:32:41.316> I<00:32:41.413> believe<00:32:41.800> I've<00:32:42.042> achieved<00:32:43.108> without<00:32:43.431> starting<00:32:43.834> with<00:32:44.141> him<00:32:44.318> as<00:32:44.560> my<00:32:44.690> foundation<00:32:45.714> and<00:32:45.863> my<00:32:46.127> Rocco<00:32:46.524> Gibraltar,<00:32:47.102> my<00:32:47.202> big<00:32:47.449> support.

And<00:32:50.329> it<00:32:50.426> gave<00:32:50.588> me<00:32:50.733> a<00:32:50.750> great<00:32:51.105> deal<00:32:51.218> of<00:32:51.315> pleasure<00:32:52.269> at<00:32:52.366> a<00:32:52.446> very<00:32:52.753> hard<00:32:52.931> time<00:32:53.238> in<00:32:53.335> my<00:32:53.416> life<00:32:53.820> to<00:32:53.965> go<00:32:54.079> to<00:32:54.208> his<00:32:54.386> computer<00:32:54.951> the<00:32:55.048> day<00:32:55.355> he<00:32:55.517> died<00:32:56.955> and<00:32:57.278> look<00:32:57.456> that<00:32:57.602> his<00:32:57.779> last<00:32:58.103> email<00:32:59.143> was<00:32:59.224> to<00:32:59.305> his<00:32:59.467> best<00:32:59.711> friend<00:33:00.052> and<00:33:00.133> the<00:33:00.214> last<00:33:00.767> file<00:33:01.091> he<00:33:01.173> ever<00:33:01.416> opened<00:33:01.660> on<00:33:01.725> his<00:33:01.790> computer<00:33:02.326> was<00:33:02.488> a<00:33:02.553> project<00:33:03.040> we<00:33:03.121> were<00:33:03.203> working<00:33:03.462> on<00:33:03.544> together.

00:33:05.546 --> 00:33:21.251
And<00:33:05.643> so<00:33:06.129> I<00:33:06.210> would<00:33:06.388> say<00:33:07.912> that<00:33:08.074> chance<00:33:08.625> has<00:33:08.803> really<00:33:09.046> been<00:33:09.225> something<00:33:09.678> that<00:33:10.262> I—<00:33:10.829> I'm<00:33:11.461> a<00:33:11.963> member<00:33:12.369> of<00:33:12.417> a<00:33:12.433> group<00:33:12.693> in<00:33:12.774> San<00:33:12.952> Francisco<00:33:14.513> that<00:33:14.674> meets,<00:33:15.379> uh,<00:33:16.583> once<00:33:16.759> a<00:33:16.839> month,<00:33:17.241> CEOs<00:33:17.946> to<00:33:18.043> talk<00:33:18.299> about<00:33:18.765> how<00:33:18.909> our<00:33:18.941> business<00:33:19.246> is<00:33:19.551> going<00:33:19.888> and<00:33:20.128> share<00:33:20.369> ideas<00:33:20.690> with<00:33:20.770> each<00:33:21.011> other.

00:33:21.877 --> 00:33:31.840
And<00:33:21.957> a<00:33:21.973> number<00:33:22.198> of<00:33:22.230> years<00:33:22.535> ago<00:33:23.417> in<00:33:23.497> my<00:33:23.642> old<00:33:23.883> company,<00:33:24.284> I<00:33:24.396> came<00:33:24.637> in<00:33:24.701> and<00:33:25.086> complained<00:33:25.439> about<00:33:25.615> my<00:33:25.888> father<00:33:26.225> keeping<00:33:26.546> me<00:33:26.690> down<00:33:27.171> and<00:33:27.332> holding<00:33:27.733> me<00:33:27.829> back,<00:33:28.391> and<00:33:28.856> he<00:33:28.888> didn't<00:33:29.097> really<00:33:29.353> want<00:33:29.594> to<00:33:29.658> be<00:33:29.754> there,<00:33:30.701> and<00:33:30.958> what<00:33:31.102> was<00:33:31.263> I<00:33:31.279> going<00:33:31.439> to<00:33:31.471> do<00:33:31.583> about<00:33:31.696> that.

00:33:31.904 --> 00:33:36.268
And<00:33:32.065> they<00:33:32.241> all<00:33:32.658> sort<00:33:32.787> of<00:33:32.819> gave<00:33:33.268> me<00:33:33.428> a<00:33:33.589> hit<00:33:33.685> in<00:33:33.765> the<00:33:33.846> head<00:33:34.070> and<00:33:34.182> said,<00:33:34.487> hey<00:33:34.567> Ted,<00:33:35.434> do<00:33:35.466> you<00:33:35.546> know<00:33:35.594> how<00:33:35.691> lucky<00:33:36.076> you<00:33:36.172> are?

00:33:36.798 --> 00:33:44.614
And<00:33:36.894> so<00:33:37.199> for<00:33:37.279> me,<00:33:38.241> I<00:33:38.322> would<00:33:38.402> say<00:33:39.284> that<00:33:40.649> I,<00:33:41.066> I—<00:33:41.628> that<00:33:41.853> was<00:33:41.949> a<00:33:42.110> real<00:33:42.335> big<00:33:42.495> advantage<00:33:42.913> in<00:33:43.057> life,<00:33:43.475> was<00:33:43.619> having<00:33:43.876> my<00:33:44.101> dad<00:33:44.358> there.

00:34:07.189 --> 00:34:10.256
I've<00:34:08.803> tried<00:34:09.094> to<00:34:09.207> take<00:34:09.788> that.

00:34:10.352 --> 00:34:20.895
And<00:34:10.498> when<00:34:10.820> I<00:34:10.982> work<00:34:11.240> with<00:34:11.708> senior<00:34:12.047> members<00:34:12.305> of<00:34:12.434> my<00:34:12.596> team,<00:34:13.322> figure<00:34:13.483> out<00:34:13.725> what<00:34:13.822> are<00:34:13.903> they<00:34:14.064> trying<00:34:14.306> to<00:34:14.371> achieve<00:34:14.710> and<00:34:14.790> how<00:34:14.920> could<00:34:15.177> I<00:34:15.274> potentially<00:34:15.821> help<00:34:15.999> them<00:34:17.110> achieve<00:34:17.835> what<00:34:17.931> they're<00:34:18.157> trying<00:34:18.366> to<00:34:18.415> achieve<00:34:18.721> based<00:34:19.043> on<00:34:19.784> the<00:34:19.929> blessings<00:34:20.412> I<00:34:20.492> was<00:34:20.653> given.

00:34:21.394 --> 00:34:24.537
So<00:34:21.539> I<00:34:21.636> don't<00:34:21.797> know<00:34:22.022> if<00:34:22.055> that's<00:34:23.021> some<00:34:23.327> typical<00:34:23.810> answer<00:34:24.020> you<00:34:24.197> get.

00:34:24.714 --> 00:34:25.619
No,<00:34:24.876> that's<00:34:25.151> beautiful.

00:34:25.813 --> 00:34:26.460
Yeah,<00:34:25.894> exactly.

00:34:26.540 --> 00:34:27.672
Yeah,<00:34:26.799> that's<00:34:27.025> exactly<00:34:27.445> right.

00:34:28.738 --> 00:34:35.676
It's,<00:34:30.096> it's<00:34:30.257> something<00:34:30.516> I<00:34:30.661> didn't<00:34:31.033> completely<00:34:31.647> understand<00:34:34.746> until<00:34:35.066> I<00:34:35.130> understood<00:34:35.547> it.

00:34:36.814 --> 00:34:46.224
Um,<00:34:37.936> and<00:34:38.417> it,<00:34:38.818> it's<00:34:39.058> kind<00:34:39.234> of<00:34:39.315> why<00:34:39.475> when<00:34:39.635> I<00:34:39.699> was<00:34:39.795> with<00:34:39.956> my<00:34:40.116> daughter<00:34:40.373> today<00:34:40.741> having<00:34:41.062> lunch<00:34:41.479> and<00:34:41.559> we<00:34:41.719> were—<00:34:41.815> she's<00:34:42.120> a<00:34:42.184> sophomore<00:34:42.681> in<00:34:42.761> college<00:34:43.226> and<00:34:43.306> she<00:34:43.467> just<00:34:43.643> finished<00:34:44.028> an<00:34:44.060> internship—<00:34:45.070> we're<00:34:45.166> talking<00:34:45.406> about<00:34:45.711> her<00:34:45.839> life.

00:34:47.234 --> 00:34:52.300
I<00:34:47.250> was<00:34:47.410> like,<00:34:47.571> how<00:34:47.731> do<00:34:47.955> I<00:34:48.067> set<00:34:48.292> up<00:34:48.372> the<00:34:48.516> conditions<00:34:48.997> for<00:34:49.174> her<00:34:49.286> to<00:34:49.478> realize<00:34:49.879> her<00:34:50.039> own<00:34:50.151> success<00:34:51.578> but<00:34:51.723> support<00:34:52.203> her?

00:34:52.700 --> 00:35:05.314
And<00:34:52.781> I<00:34:52.861> think<00:34:53.021> a<00:34:53.165> little<00:34:53.406> bit<00:34:53.486> to<00:34:53.566> step<00:34:53.967> back<00:34:55.009> and<00:34:55.105> see<00:34:55.249> how<00:34:55.410> it<00:34:55.490> goes,<00:34:55.810> but<00:34:55.971> always<00:34:56.307> be<00:34:56.468> there<00:34:57.349> to<00:34:57.430> try<00:34:57.750> and<00:34:59.353> support,<00:35:00.154> support<00:35:00.699> her<00:35:01.276> being<00:35:01.596> the<00:35:01.676> best<00:35:01.837> she<00:35:02.061> can<00:35:02.157> be,<00:35:03.743> which<00:35:03.904> is<00:35:04.000> not<00:35:04.144> always<00:35:04.545> what<00:35:04.641> she's<00:35:04.865> going<00:35:04.993> to<00:35:05.105> want.

00:35:06.243 --> 00:35:12.172
And<00:35:06.307> that's<00:35:06.868> the<00:35:06.964> big<00:35:07.189> lesson<00:35:07.509> that<00:35:07.685> my<00:35:07.846> dad<00:35:08.150> was<00:35:08.246> really<00:35:08.487> great<00:35:08.791> at,<00:35:09.448> was<00:35:09.913> stepping<00:35:10.329> back<00:35:10.650> and<00:35:10.714> letting<00:35:10.970> me<00:35:11.611> fail<00:35:11.771> on<00:35:11.916> my<00:35:12.076> own.

00:35:13.117 --> 00:35:15.361
And<00:35:13.230> it's<00:35:13.598> a<00:35:13.678> hard<00:35:13.919> one<00:35:13.967> to<00:35:14.031> learn,<00:35:15.040> right?

00:35:16.498 --> 00:35:18.069
Ted,<00:35:16.803> thank<00:35:16.979> you<00:35:17.059> so<00:35:17.220> much<00:35:17.380> for<00:35:17.524> joining<00:35:17.925> us.

00:35:19.367 --> 00:35:25.071
Congrats<00:35:19.928> on<00:35:20.184> the<00:35:20.665> remission<00:35:21.145> for<00:35:21.290> the<00:35:21.386> cancer<00:35:22.171> and,<00:35:22.892> you<00:35:22.972> know,<00:35:23.549> living<00:35:23.870> every<00:35:24.110> day<00:35:24.350> to<00:35:24.430> the<00:35:24.510> fullest.

00:35:25.648 --> 00:35:27.537
And<00:35:25.890> everything<00:35:26.294> you've<00:35:26.407> accomplished<00:35:26.859> with<00:35:26.956> Capado.

00:35:27.828 --> 00:35:29.007
Um,<00:35:28.006> means<00:35:28.183> a<00:35:28.248> lot<00:35:28.410> to<00:35:28.458> have<00:35:28.571> had<00:35:28.749> you<00:35:28.878> here.

Thank<00:35:29.782> you<00:35:29.847> so<00:35:30.008> much.

00:35:30.913 --> 00:35:34.272
Thanks<00:35:31.155> for<00:35:31.236> your<00:35:31.381> time<00:35:31.963> and,<00:35:32.350> um,<00:35:32.770> prayers<00:35:33.012> for<00:35:33.174> your<00:35:33.335> family<00:35:33.658> and<00:35:33.804> for<00:35:33.884> your<00:35:33.997> son.

00:35:34.611 --> 00:35:35.218
Thank<00:35:34.805> you<00:35:34.886> so<00:35:35.080> much.
