# Adam Nash wants you to have a 401(k) for giving

Adam Nash first heard the phrase "donor-advised fund" in 2011, the year LinkedIn went public. He was running core product there, and the campus filled up with accountants and wealth managers. That is where he learned the mechanics. You put money into an account, take the tax deduction that year, invest it tax-free, and give it to charities whenever you want. It is a tax-advantaged account for generosity, the way a 401(k) is for retirement or a 529 is for college.

Nash was struck by how good the product was and by how few people knew it existed. "It has been in the past mostly sold to wealthy families and individuals, and so most people have never heard of it," he said on the CEO.com Podcast. About 60 million American households give to charity every year. A decade of fintech had produced apps that help people save, spend, and invest. Nobody had built one for giving.

He kept thinking about it through LinkedIn, then through Wealthfront, where he was CEO until 2016, then through a stint running product and growth at Dropbox. He has written angel checks into [more than 150 companies](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2085659/000121390025125489/ea0256687-05.htm?ref=ceo.com), including Firebase, Opendoor, and Figma. He could have waited for someone else to build it.

"I was not convinced that a platform like this was going to get built any other way unless we built a new company, a new organization, a new platform to do it," he said.

He called Alejandro Crosa, an engineer he had worked with at LinkedIn. The two had been talking about starting something for years. They launched Daffy, short for the Donor-Advised Fund for You, on September 30, 2021\. It is a 501(c)(3), like every donor-advised fund sponsor, with an app where members can contribute by card, bank account, Apple Pay, stock, ETF, or crypto, and recommend a grant to any of the 1.7 million IRS-registered charities in the country. The nonprofit does nothing but receive the money. "You'd be surprised how much government data comes in these really arcane and archaic formats," Nash said. Daffy uses AI to turn that data into something a donor can read before deciding where to give.

The bet was that intention changes behavior. Nash cites research showing that people who set a goal for their giving end up giving 32 percent more. The recurring contribution, the pre-committed dollar, the app that is already on your phone in the moment you are inspired to give, all of it is built to close the gap between what people mean to give and what they actually give.

When Nash talked with CEO.com, Daffy had just finished a year with $105 million in contributions, up from $20 million the year before. He called it early days.

In 2025, Daffy members [set aside more than $470 million](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20260129464209/en/Daffy-Becomes-a-Top-10-Donor-Advised-Fund-in-the-U.S.?ref=ceo.com) and sent more than $125 million out to nonprofits. The platform ended the year with over $720 million in charitable assets across more than 16,000 accounts, which by Daffy's count places it [among the ten largest donor-advised fund providers in the United States](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20260129464209/en/Daffy-Becomes-a-Top-10-Donor-Advised-Fund-in-the-U.S.?ref=ceo.com), ahead of the programs at Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, T. Rowe Price, and Raymond James, all of which launched in the early 2000s. On March 18, 2026, Daffy said it had [passed $1 billion in charitable assets](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20260318729593/en/Daffy-Surpasses-$1-Billion-in-Charitable-Assets-Just-4.5-Years-After-Launch?ref=ceo.com), with more than $300 million of that arriving in the first two and a half months of the year. Most of the growth has come from people who had never held a donor-advised fund. The rest has come from people who had one somewhere else: Daffy has taken in more than $155 million in transfers from other providers since launch, $75 million of it from Fidelity Charitable.

The money does not sit there. Daffy reports a [payout rate of 55 percent](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20260129464209/en/Daffy-Becomes-a-Top-10-Donor-Advised-Fund-in-the-U.S.?ref=ceo.com) for 2025, meaning more than half of every dollar set aside in 2024 went out to charities the following year. The industry average in the Donor-Advised Fund Research Collaborative's 2025 report is 25 percent.

Daffy was founded in the middle of the pandemic, which settled one question before it could be asked. "You were either going to build the company remote first, or you weren't going to build the company," Nash said. He has come to see an upside beyond the obvious ones. A distributed team has to write things down, and he thinks writing improves the thinking. Every six months he writes a document for the whole company laying out where they are, what they have learned, and what the next 12 months look like. The whole team meets in person at least twice a year to work through it. Every Friday the whole team gets on a call and shows what they built. He and Crosa still settle the hardest product questions in person at a whiteboard, in a couple of hours, on decisions that cycle for much longer over Zoom.

The habit of clarity came from Reid Hoffman, who hired Nash at LinkedIn after a long breakfast about the future of the web. What Hoffman did, Nash said, was tell the team what game they were playing and how to keep score. "If you don't give them the framework to operate in, they'll come up with their own. And it may not be aligned with what the company needs."

CEO.com ends every conversation by asking who gave the guest a chance. Nash named Craig Federighi, who hired him out of Stanford at NeXT before it merged with Apple, and Hoffman. Then he brought up Dylan Field.

Field was an intern at LinkedIn when Nash was a vice president. They got along. Years later, when Field had an idea for a company, he came to Nash for advice, and Nash wrote one of the early checks into what became Figma. Nash is not sure who gave whom the chance.

"Be nice to the interns," he said.

00:00:09.899 --> 00:00:15.518
Adam,<00:00:10.156> thank<00:00:10.333> you<00:00:10.414> so<00:00:10.575> much<00:00:10.945> for<00:00:11.670> joining<00:00:12.008> the<00:00:12.088> show<00:00:12.813> and<00:00:12.958> sharing<00:00:14.343> your<00:00:14.568> experiences<00:00:15.148> with<00:00:15.373> us.

00:00:16.114 --> 00:00:24.124
Let's<00:00:16.339> start<00:00:16.581> with<00:00:16.758> Daffy,<00:00:17.305> how<00:00:17.547> you<00:00:17.708> got<00:00:17.949> to<00:00:18.046> become<00:00:18.449> the<00:00:18.529> CEO<00:00:18.932> of<00:00:19.012> Daffy,<00:00:19.559> what<00:00:19.735> Daffy<00:00:20.218> is,<00:00:21.327> and<00:00:22.066> what<00:00:22.307> its<00:00:23.175> outlook<00:00:23.497> for<00:00:23.625> the<00:00:23.674> future<00:00:23.995> is.

00:00:25.201 --> 00:00:25.619
Yeah,<00:00:25.442> sure.

00:00:26.165 --> 00:00:27.307
Happy<00:00:26.487> to<00:00:26.551> talk<00:00:26.744> about<00:00:26.969> that.

00:00:30.068 --> 00:00:31.959
You<00:00:30.148> know,<00:00:30.389> I<00:00:30.725> mean,<00:00:31.046> the<00:00:31.142> simple<00:00:31.350> answer<00:00:31.526> is<00:00:31.671> Daffy.

00:00:32.007 --> 00:00:34.251
I'm<00:00:32.087> the<00:00:32.167> co-founder<00:00:33.113> and<00:00:33.209> CEO<00:00:33.610> of<00:00:33.850> Daffy.

00:00:34.956 --> 00:00:38.497
And<00:00:35.052> so<00:00:35.212> in<00:00:35.292> some<00:00:35.533> ways<00:00:35.709> I<00:00:35.773> gave<00:00:35.997> myself<00:00:36.991> the<00:00:37.135> job<00:00:37.776> as<00:00:37.872> it<00:00:38.000> turns<00:00:38.241> out.

00:00:39.282 --> 00:00:40.708
But<00:00:39.779> Daffy<00:00:40.019> is<00:00:40.116> a<00:00:40.180> very<00:00:40.340> simple<00:00:40.564> thing.

00:00:40.805 --> 00:00:43.048
Daffy<00:00:41.077> stands<00:00:41.381> for<00:00:41.526> the<00:00:41.686> Donor<00:00:41.942> Advised<00:00:42.343> Fund<00:00:42.583> for<00:00:42.808> You.

00:00:43.609 --> 00:00:51.637
It's<00:00:43.961> a<00:00:44.025> very<00:00:44.282> simple<00:00:44.987> insight<00:00:46.109> that<00:00:46.269> there's<00:00:46.445> about<00:00:46.686> 60<00:00:47.214> million<00:00:48.512> American<00:00:49.538> households<00:00:50.179> who<00:00:50.339> give<00:00:50.499> to<00:00:50.595> charity<00:00:51.076> every<00:00:51.381> year.

00:00:52.518 --> 00:01:01.629
But<00:00:52.743> where<00:00:53.063> is<00:00:53.304> the<00:00:53.384> kind<00:00:53.576> of<00:00:53.720> great,<00:00:54.666> application,<00:00:55.789> where<00:00:55.885> is<00:00:56.046> the<00:00:56.126> great<00:00:56.366> service<00:00:56.992> that<00:00:57.153> helps<00:00:57.474> bring<00:00:57.730> them<00:00:57.955> together<00:00:59.014> and<00:00:59.094> makes<00:00:59.335> it<00:00:59.415> easier<00:01:00.137> to<00:01:00.217> be<00:01:00.378> more<00:01:00.618> generous<00:01:01.099> more<00:01:01.324> often.

00:01:02.527 --> 00:01:12.074
And<00:01:02.608> so,<00:01:02.768> you<00:01:02.800> know,<00:01:02.864> we've<00:01:03.009> had<00:01:03.185> all<00:01:03.330> this<00:01:03.506> fintech<00:01:03.907> innovation<00:01:04.308> in<00:01:04.469> the<00:01:04.549> last<00:01:05.094> 10<00:01:05.335> to<00:01:05.431> 15<00:01:05.897> years,<00:01:06.218> all<00:01:06.298> these<00:01:06.458> great<00:01:06.779> apps<00:01:07.100> that<00:01:07.260> help<00:01:07.437> people,<00:01:07.998> you<00:01:08.079> know,<00:01:08.175> save<00:01:08.640> a<00:01:08.656> little<00:01:08.881> bit<00:01:09.041> more,<00:01:09.459> maybe<00:01:09.699> spend<00:01:10.229> a<00:01:10.245> little<00:01:10.405> bit<00:01:10.566> smarter,<00:01:11.207> invest<00:01:11.753> better.

00:01:13.213 --> 00:01:16.871
But<00:01:13.357> Daffy<00:01:13.678> was<00:01:13.855> built<00:01:14.111> around<00:01:14.352> the<00:01:14.496> idea<00:01:14.721> of<00:01:14.833> building<00:01:15.154> an<00:01:15.363> easy<00:01:15.684> app<00:01:15.844> that<00:01:15.924> helps<00:01:16.181> people<00:01:16.582> give.

00:01:17.384 --> 00:01:19.358
And<00:01:17.481> so<00:01:17.705> it's<00:01:17.802> a<00:01:17.850> modern<00:01:18.171> platform<00:01:18.588> for<00:01:18.668> charitable<00:01:19.069> giving.

00:01:20.032 --> 00:01:23.417
Now,<00:01:20.272> under<00:01:20.497> the<00:01:20.593> hood,<00:01:21.219> it,<00:01:21.460> it's<00:01:21.636> built<00:01:22.021> off<00:01:22.182> a<00:01:22.342> donor<00:01:22.599> advised<00:01:23.064> fund.

00:01:23.786 --> 00:01:26.660
Which<00:01:23.979> is,<00:01:24.059> of<00:01:24.204> course,<00:01:24.460> a<00:01:24.605> very<00:01:24.990> popular<00:01:25.408> product<00:01:26.034> for<00:01:26.194> the<00:01:26.291> wealthy.

00:01:27.318 --> 00:01:30.946
A<00:01:27.896> lot<00:01:28.056> of<00:01:28.137> tax<00:01:28.538> advantages,<00:01:29.084> etc.,<00:01:29.485> to<00:01:29.582> putting<00:01:29.903> money<00:01:30.127> aside<00:01:30.465> for<00:01:30.609> charity.

00:01:31.588 --> 00:01:37.175
And<00:01:31.653> we're<00:01:31.765> hoping<00:01:32.070> that<00:01:32.150> we<00:01:32.295> can<00:01:32.455> open<00:01:32.776> up<00:01:32.953> those<00:01:33.178> advantages<00:01:33.675> to<00:01:33.820> everyone<00:01:34.783> who<00:01:35.024> gives<00:01:35.361> and<00:01:35.457> supports<00:01:35.923> organizations<00:01:36.645> and<00:01:36.790> causes.

00:01:38.395 --> 00:01:44.351
In<00:01:38.476> terms<00:01:38.668> of<00:01:38.716> the<00:01:38.797> founding<00:01:39.118> story,<00:01:39.455> I<00:01:39.535> mean,<00:01:39.920> Alejandro,<00:01:40.402> my<00:01:40.563> co-founder,<00:01:41.205> was<00:01:41.365> one<00:01:41.462> of<00:01:41.494> my<00:01:41.622> favorite<00:01:42.024> engineers<00:01:42.666> to<00:01:42.810> work<00:01:42.971> with<00:01:43.452> at<00:01:43.870> LinkedIn.

00:01:44.496 --> 00:01:47.996
We<00:01:44.576> had<00:01:44.672> been<00:01:44.994> kept<00:01:45.234> in<00:01:45.315> touch<00:01:45.716> and<00:01:46.198> talking<00:01:46.454> about<00:01:46.615> starting<00:01:47.016> a<00:01:47.145> company<00:01:47.466> for<00:01:47.707> years.

00:01:48.044 --> 00:01:50.452
And,<00:01:48.830> you<00:01:48.927> know,<00:01:49.007> he<00:01:49.152> got<00:01:49.328> very<00:01:49.473> excited<00:01:49.729> about<00:01:49.890> this<00:01:50.115> idea.

00:01:50.532 --> 00:01:51.736
I<00:01:50.612> was<00:01:50.773> excited<00:01:51.110> about<00:01:51.319> this<00:01:51.495> idea.

00:01:51.800 --> 00:01:53.181
And<00:01:51.913> so<00:01:52.378> we<00:01:52.539> dove<00:01:52.780> into<00:01:53.085> it.

00:01:53.967 --> 00:01:56.727
Um,<00:01:54.545> so<00:01:54.625> those<00:01:55.090> are<00:01:55.203> the<00:01:55.331> basics<00:01:55.748> of<00:01:55.828> the,<00:01:56.069> of<00:01:56.165> the<00:01:56.246> Daffy<00:01:56.534> story.

00:01:56.775 --> 00:01:58.235
I<00:01:56.791> mean,<00:01:56.871> we<00:01:57.016> launched<00:01:57.353> a<00:01:57.417> couple<00:01:57.674> years<00:01:57.930> ago.

00:01:58.781 --> 00:02:06.161
Um,<00:01:58.925> our<00:01:59.037> first<00:01:59.503> year,<00:02:00.144> um,<00:02:00.481> we<00:02:00.561> saw<00:02:00.706> about<00:02:00.963> $20<00:02:01.283> million<00:02:02.647> in<00:02:02.808> contributions,<00:02:03.915> uh,<00:02:04.797> uh,<00:02:05.134> to,<00:02:05.455> to<00:02:05.535> give<00:02:05.696> to<00:02:05.776> charity.

00:02:06.257 --> 00:02:10.846
And,<00:02:06.562> uh,<00:02:06.819> last<00:02:07.124> year<00:02:07.220> we<00:02:07.300> saw<00:02:07.428> $105<00:02:08.166> million,<00:02:08.969> which<00:02:09.129> of<00:02:09.225> course<00:02:09.450> was<00:02:09.610> over<00:02:09.787> 400%<00:02:10.573> growth.

00:02:10.910 --> 00:02:17.055
So<00:02:11.086> we're,<00:02:11.455> we're,<00:02:12.354> we're<00:02:12.595> very<00:02:12.771> excited<00:02:13.236> about,<00:02:13.782> um,<00:02:14.279> the<00:02:14.359> product<00:02:14.905> and,<00:02:15.146> and<00:02:15.242> the<00:02:15.322> platform,<00:02:15.803> but<00:02:15.964> it's<00:02:16.076> still<00:02:16.285> very<00:02:16.670> early<00:02:16.846> days.

00:02:18.114 --> 00:02:19.157
So<00:02:18.210> how<00:02:18.354> does<00:02:18.515> that<00:02:18.611> work<00:02:18.788> exactly?

00:02:19.205 --> 00:02:37.469
Because<00:02:19.413> as<00:02:19.558> I<00:02:19.654> understand<00:02:20.055> it,<00:02:20.200> a<00:02:20.296> donor<00:02:20.617> advised<00:02:21.162> fund<00:02:21.884> is<00:02:22.622> Like<00:02:22.782> you<00:02:22.863> said,<00:02:23.247> it's<00:02:23.664> primarily<00:02:24.209> for<00:02:25.107> wealthy<00:02:25.492> people<00:02:26.133> who<00:02:26.855> probably<00:02:27.256> have<00:02:27.432> a<00:02:27.512> family<00:02:27.977> office<00:02:28.250> of<00:02:28.378> some<00:02:28.555> sort,<00:02:29.581> and<00:02:29.757> they're<00:02:30.944> required,<00:02:31.826> if<00:02:31.922> I'm<00:02:32.082> not<00:02:32.242> mistaken,<00:02:32.804> to<00:02:32.964> give<00:02:33.204> a<00:02:33.285> percentage<00:02:34.231> every<00:02:34.567> year<00:02:35.610> to<00:02:35.850> charity<00:02:36.491> through<00:02:36.876> the<00:02:37.133> DAF.

00:02:37.534 --> 00:02:38.255
Is<00:02:37.678> that<00:02:37.774> correct?

00:02:39.217 --> 00:02:39.602
No,<00:02:39.313> no,<00:02:39.458> no.

00:02:39.842 --> 00:02:42.151
I<00:02:39.859> think<00:02:40.163> it's<00:02:41.141> much<00:02:41.237> simpler<00:02:41.622> than<00:02:41.783> that.

00:02:42.328 --> 00:02:53.223
I<00:02:42.889> think<00:02:42.985> that<00:02:43.226> there's<00:02:43.450> a<00:02:43.530> lot<00:02:43.771> of<00:02:43.867> things<00:02:44.107> in<00:02:44.252> the<00:02:44.332> charity<00:02:44.669> space,<00:02:46.016> and<00:02:46.673> as<00:02:46.833> you<00:02:46.897> mentioned,<00:02:47.715> I<00:02:47.795> don't<00:02:47.956> think<00:02:48.180> everyone<00:02:48.661> has<00:02:48.837> a<00:02:48.982> lawyer<00:02:49.319> or<00:02:49.543> accountant<00:02:50.136> or<00:02:51.005> wealth<00:02:51.329> manager<00:02:52.300> who<00:02:52.689> runs<00:02:52.948> through<00:02:53.110> this.

00:02:53.272 --> 00:02:57.904
But<00:02:53.904> I<00:02:53.920> think<00:02:54.033> some<00:02:54.146> of<00:02:54.179> what<00:02:54.308> you're<00:02:54.406> talking<00:02:54.632> about<00:02:54.794> is<00:02:54.956> actually<00:02:55.539> very<00:02:55.847> high-end,<00:02:56.171> starting<00:02:56.446> a<00:02:56.511> family<00:02:56.916> foundation,<00:02:57.806> right?

00:02:57.968 --> 00:03:01.263
You're<00:02:58.114> talking<00:02:58.292> about<00:02:58.519> the<00:02:59.102> billionaire<00:02:59.570> crowd,<00:03:00.618> etc.

00:03:01.360 --> 00:03:03.135
But<00:03:01.925> donor-advised<00:03:02.473> fund<00:03:02.570> is<00:03:02.634> very<00:03:02.747> simple.

00:03:03.522 --> 00:03:16.943
In<00:03:03.602> some<00:03:03.844> ways,<00:03:04.119> it's<00:03:04.328> just,<00:03:05.377> you<00:03:05.506> know,<00:03:05.683> a<00:03:05.699> tax-advantaged<00:03:06.538> account<00:03:07.329> for<00:03:07.490> putting<00:03:07.748> money<00:03:07.974> aside<00:03:08.280> for<00:03:08.442> charity,<00:03:08.700> kind<00:03:08.845> of<00:03:08.910> like<00:03:09.038> a<00:03:09.086> 401<00:03:09.906> or<00:03:10.066> an<00:03:10.291> IRA<00:03:10.789> is<00:03:10.950> for<00:03:11.111> retirement,<00:03:11.978> or,<00:03:13.762> you<00:03:13.842> know,<00:03:14.163> a<00:03:14.244> 529<00:03:14.967> plan<00:03:15.609> might<00:03:15.770> be<00:03:15.931> for<00:03:16.091> college<00:03:16.429> savings.

00:03:17.393 --> 00:03:18.843
A<00:03:17.457> donor-advised<00:03:18.084> fund<00:03:18.244> is<00:03:18.325> just<00:03:18.485> an<00:03:18.550> account.

00:03:18.909 --> 00:03:27.509
It<00:03:18.974> has<00:03:19.219> this<00:03:19.382> unique<00:03:19.659> advantage<00:03:20.296> where<00:03:21.106> You<00:03:21.203> put<00:03:21.459> money<00:03:21.764> into<00:03:21.941> this<00:03:22.149> account<00:03:23.208> that<00:03:23.433> is<00:03:23.594> treated<00:03:24.155> as<00:03:24.268> an<00:03:24.492> irrevocable<00:03:25.295> donation<00:03:25.856> to<00:03:25.953> the<00:03:26.081> charity<00:03:26.498> that<00:03:26.659> hosts<00:03:26.980> the<00:03:27.124> fund.

00:03:28.087 --> 00:03:32.291
You<00:03:28.183> get<00:03:28.408> this<00:03:28.584> deduction<00:03:29.130> on<00:03:29.210> your<00:03:29.371> taxes<00:03:29.852> for<00:03:29.948> making<00:03:30.269> a<00:03:30.350> charitable<00:03:30.831> donation,<00:03:31.633> which<00:03:31.810> is<00:03:31.954> great.

00:03:33.222 --> 00:03:36.897
And<00:03:33.318> then<00:03:33.479> that<00:03:33.639> money<00:03:33.880> is<00:03:33.960> invested<00:03:34.458> tax-free<00:03:35.886> and<00:03:36.046> grows<00:03:36.431> over<00:03:36.608> time.

00:03:36.945 --> 00:03:45.803
And<00:03:37.009> then<00:03:37.154> anytime<00:03:38.036> you<00:03:38.277> want<00:03:38.518> to<00:03:38.614> donate<00:03:39.192> to<00:03:39.416> an<00:03:39.641> operating<00:03:40.058> charity,<00:03:41.005> you<00:03:41.085> just<00:03:41.262> put<00:03:41.422> a<00:03:41.486> recommendation<00:03:42.465> into<00:03:42.642> the<00:03:42.850> app,<00:03:43.091> and<00:03:43.187> if<00:03:43.284> it's<00:03:43.428> approved,<00:03:44.006> it<00:03:44.070> goes<00:03:44.391> through<00:03:44.712> and<00:03:44.792> the<00:03:44.872> charity<00:03:45.193> gets<00:03:45.434> the<00:03:45.530> money.

00:03:46.236 --> 00:03:47.841
So<00:03:46.333> it's<00:03:46.461> really<00:03:46.718> a<00:03:46.862> brilliant<00:03:47.263> product.

00:03:48.226 --> 00:03:55.999
The<00:03:48.323> problem<00:03:48.628> with<00:03:48.708> this<00:03:48.885> product<00:03:49.608> is<00:03:49.784> that<00:03:50.250> it<00:03:50.394> has<00:03:50.732> been<00:03:50.908> in<00:03:50.989> the<00:03:51.117> past<00:03:52.016> mostly<00:03:52.434> sold<00:03:52.980> to<00:03:54.249> wealthy<00:03:54.586> families<00:03:55.309> and<00:03:55.453> individuals.

00:03:56.112 --> 00:03:57.509
And<00:03:56.192> so<00:03:56.336> most<00:03:56.577> people<00:03:56.770> have<00:03:56.834> never<00:03:57.139> heard<00:03:57.332> of<00:03:57.412> it.

00:03:58.360 --> 00:04:06.181
I<00:03:58.504> heard<00:03:58.681> about<00:03:58.906> it<00:03:59.227> for<00:03:59.307> the<00:03:59.388> first<00:03:59.580> time<00:04:00.448> back<00:04:00.672> when<00:04:00.849> LinkedIn<00:04:01.170> went<00:04:01.411> public,<00:04:01.813> and<00:04:01.893> there<00:04:01.973> were<00:04:02.037> a<00:04:02.118> lot<00:04:02.294> of<00:04:02.375> financial<00:04:02.921> managers<00:04:03.595> and<00:04:03.676> accountants,<00:04:04.157> etc.,<00:04:04.928> swarming<00:04:05.410> around<00:04:05.651> the<00:04:05.731> campus.

00:04:07.016 --> 00:04:14.692
But<00:04:07.112> the<00:04:07.257> truth<00:04:07.578> is,<00:04:07.755> it<00:04:07.835> is<00:04:07.979> a<00:04:08.076> great<00:04:08.461> product,<00:04:09.344> a<00:04:09.601> great<00:04:09.907> account<00:04:10.228> to<00:04:10.388> have<00:04:10.501> for<00:04:10.790> anyone<00:04:11.127> who's<00:04:11.368> passionate<00:04:11.914> about<00:04:12.235> giving,<00:04:12.572> everyone<00:04:12.958> who<00:04:13.038> sets<00:04:13.359> some<00:04:13.520> money<00:04:13.713> aside<00:04:14.323> every<00:04:14.580> year.

00:04:15.607 --> 00:04:18.015
To<00:04:15.704> give<00:04:16.025> to<00:04:16.249> a<00:04:16.281> few<00:04:16.602> organizations<00:04:17.292> that<00:04:17.389> they<00:04:17.485> support.

00:04:18.576 --> 00:04:20.566
And<00:04:18.753> most<00:04:18.994> people<00:04:19.218> do<00:04:19.331> support<00:04:19.892> organizations.

00:04:20.614 --> 00:04:23.744
They<00:04:20.759> give<00:04:20.984> to<00:04:21.064> their<00:04:21.224> kids'<00:04:21.417> school,<00:04:22.604> maybe<00:04:22.861> their<00:04:23.070> alma<00:04:23.262> mater.

00:04:24.290 --> 00:04:28.238
Maybe<00:04:24.530> there's<00:04:24.691> a<00:04:24.707> national<00:04:25.252> organization<00:04:25.830> they<00:04:25.910> support,<00:04:26.456> maybe<00:04:26.697> a<00:04:26.777> religious<00:04:27.259> institution,<00:04:28.061> right?

00:04:28.286 --> 00:04:29.987
A<00:04:28.302> church,<00:04:28.719> a<00:04:28.799> synagogue,<00:04:29.425> et<00:04:29.457> cetera.

00:04:30.773 --> 00:04:35.540
And<00:04:30.886> so<00:04:31.255> having<00:04:31.511> a<00:04:31.527> donor<00:04:31.816> advised<00:04:32.153> fund<00:04:32.314> just<00:04:32.474> means<00:04:32.779> that<00:04:32.876> you<00:04:33.036> can<00:04:33.277> put<00:04:33.518> that<00:04:33.678> money<00:04:33.919> aside,<00:04:34.480> have<00:04:34.705> it<00:04:34.801> in<00:04:34.882> your<00:04:35.122> budget.

00:04:35.604 --> 00:04:37.915
It's<00:04:35.845> in<00:04:35.941> a<00:04:36.069> place<00:04:36.390> where<00:04:36.551> you<00:04:36.711> can<00:04:36.872> get<00:04:37.048> to<00:04:37.193> it<00:04:37.225> if<00:04:37.353> you<00:04:37.449> need<00:04:37.674> to.

00:04:38.814 --> 00:04:41.189
You<00:04:38.958> get<00:04:39.135> that<00:04:39.375> tax<00:04:39.680> advantage<00:04:40.402> of<00:04:40.499> the<00:04:40.643> deduction.

00:04:41.783 --> 00:04:44.127
And<00:04:41.927> then<00:04:42.040> it's<00:04:42.184> available<00:04:42.666> anytime<00:04:43.083> you're<00:04:43.212> inspired<00:04:43.693> to<00:04:43.790> give.

00:04:44.432 --> 00:04:56.009
I<00:04:44.512> mean,<00:04:44.657> a<00:04:44.737> lot<00:04:44.930> of<00:04:45.042> what<00:04:45.090> we<00:04:45.299> built<00:04:45.572> into<00:04:45.717> the<00:04:45.797> Daffy<00:04:46.198> product<00:04:46.600> was<00:04:46.744> making<00:04:47.001> it<00:04:47.065> exceptionally<00:04:47.643> easy<00:04:47.820> that<00:04:47.965> when<00:04:48.109> you're<00:04:48.205> inspired<00:04:48.832> to<00:04:48.928> give,<00:04:50.036> you<00:04:50.132> have<00:04:50.373> this<00:04:50.598> app<00:04:50.855> on<00:04:50.951> your<00:04:51.096> phone<00:04:51.497> where<00:04:51.642> you<00:04:51.690> can<00:04:51.802> go<00:04:52.300> press,<00:04:52.460> press,<00:04:52.701> press,<00:04:53.087> and<00:04:53.247> boom,<00:04:53.986> get<00:04:54.211> money<00:04:54.467> to<00:04:54.548> the<00:04:54.708> organization<00:04:55.335> you<00:04:55.431> want<00:04:55.575> to<00:04:55.607> support.

00:04:57.358 --> 00:04:59.670
Now<00:04:57.518> tell<00:04:57.663> us<00:04:57.823> how<00:04:57.936> the<00:04:58.064> product<00:04:58.385> works<00:04:58.626> on<00:04:58.787> the<00:04:58.867> nonprofit<00:04:59.461> side.

00:04:59.766 --> 00:05:09.898
Like<00:04:59.943> if<00:05:00.071> you're,<00:05:00.489> if<00:05:00.633> you<00:05:00.874> are<00:05:01.275> like<00:05:01.532> these,<00:05:01.854> one<00:05:01.950> of<00:05:02.014> these<00:05:02.255> organizations<00:05:03.299> that,<00:05:04.182> you<00:05:04.262> know,<00:05:04.487> these<00:05:04.663> people<00:05:05.049> want<00:05:05.306> to<00:05:05.530> through<00:05:05.707> Daffy<00:05:06.333> give,<00:05:07.554> a<00:05:07.634> donation<00:05:08.116> to,<00:05:08.758> how<00:05:08.918> does<00:05:09.063> that<00:05:09.223> work<00:05:09.464> on<00:05:09.561> their<00:05:09.737> side?

00:05:09.962 --> 00:05:13.061
Are<00:05:10.042> they,<00:05:10.444> do<00:05:10.604> they<00:05:10.653> have<00:05:10.829> like<00:05:10.942> a<00:05:11.006> profile<00:05:11.648> on<00:05:11.809> your<00:05:12.676> platform?

00:05:13.109 --> 00:05:13.735
How<00:05:13.254> does<00:05:13.398> that<00:05:13.559> work?

00:05:14.619 --> 00:05:14.859
They<00:05:14.779> do.

00:05:15.164 --> 00:05:22.984
Um,<00:05:15.405> Daffy,<00:05:15.823> you<00:05:15.919> know,<00:05:16.369> um,<00:05:16.770> the<00:05:16.931> IRS<00:05:17.830> publishes<00:05:18.312> a<00:05:18.376> list<00:05:19.419> of<00:05:19.660> every<00:05:20.784> legal<00:05:21.105> charity<00:05:21.587> in<00:05:21.667> the<00:05:21.748> US<00:05:22.085> on<00:05:22.229> an<00:05:22.310> ongoing<00:05:22.647> basis.

00:05:23.032 --> 00:05:23.707
You<00:05:23.064> have<00:05:23.225> to<00:05:23.353> register.

00:05:23.771 --> 00:05:26.950
And<00:05:23.915> so<00:05:24.558> we<00:05:24.670> support<00:05:25.039> every<00:05:25.938> legal<00:05:26.179> charity<00:05:26.581> there<00:05:26.805> is.

00:05:27.624 --> 00:05:32.072
But<00:05:27.721> the<00:05:27.849> great<00:05:28.026> thing<00:05:28.170> about<00:05:28.363> Daffy<00:05:28.748> for<00:05:28.909> the<00:05:29.005> nonprofit<00:05:29.615> organization<00:05:30.193> is<00:05:30.338> how<00:05:30.515> much<00:05:30.836> they<00:05:31.301> don't<00:05:31.558> have<00:05:31.879> to<00:05:31.976> do.

00:05:33.003 --> 00:05:33.341
Right.

00:05:33.389 --> 00:05:39.843
You<00:05:33.421> know,<00:05:34.031> it<00:05:34.111> turns<00:05:34.432> out<00:05:34.529> most<00:05:34.834> nonprofit<00:05:35.315> organizations<00:05:36.118> aren't<00:05:36.536> big,<00:05:36.712> sophisticated,<00:05:37.596> sophisticated<00:05:38.366> financial<00:05:38.928> organizations,<00:05:39.731> right?

00:05:39.908 --> 00:05:44.018
They,<00:05:40.389> they're<00:05:40.550> dedicated<00:05:41.016> to<00:05:41.096> a<00:05:41.192> mission,<00:05:41.674> to<00:05:41.899> a<00:05:41.979> community,<00:05:42.637> to,<00:05:43.039> to<00:05:43.215> a<00:05:43.344> cause,<00:05:43.906> right?

00:05:44.082 --> 00:05:50.650
Like<00:05:44.243> they're<00:05:44.404> mostly,<00:05:45.351> if<00:05:45.447> you<00:05:45.527> have<00:05:45.624> a<00:05:45.688> food<00:05:45.993> bank,<00:05:46.186> you're<00:05:46.314> mostly<00:05:46.667> in<00:05:46.732> the<00:05:46.812> business<00:05:47.133> of<00:05:47.438> feeding<00:05:47.936> people<00:05:48.578> and<00:05:48.755> making<00:05:49.044> sure<00:05:49.204> you<00:05:49.365> have<00:05:49.606> that<00:05:49.782> process<00:05:50.104> set<00:05:50.409> up.

00:05:51.388 --> 00:05:55.659
And<00:05:51.468> so<00:05:51.709> Daffy<00:05:52.111> basically<00:05:52.592> takes<00:05:53.138> all<00:05:53.251> that<00:05:53.540> work<00:05:53.877> away<00:05:54.744> from<00:05:54.921> them,<00:05:55.402> right?

00:05:55.723 --> 00:05:57.811
And<00:05:55.804> all<00:05:55.980> they<00:05:56.189> get,<00:05:56.671> you<00:05:56.703> know,<00:05:57.393> is<00:05:57.554> the<00:05:57.586> money.

00:05:58.469 --> 00:05:59.144
Delivered<00:05:58.855> to<00:05:58.935> them.

00:05:59.658 --> 00:06:07.045
And<00:05:59.738> so<00:05:59.914> whether<00:06:00.139> you<00:06:00.300> contribute,<00:06:00.701> you<00:06:00.733> know,<00:06:00.862> contribute<00:06:01.344> to<00:06:01.424> Daffy,<00:06:01.890> you<00:06:01.986> can<00:06:02.452> use<00:06:02.644> a<00:06:02.773> credit<00:06:03.110> card,<00:06:03.592> you<00:06:03.672> can<00:06:03.833> use<00:06:03.993> a<00:06:04.074> debit<00:06:04.395> card,<00:06:05.021> you<00:06:05.118> can<00:06:05.278> link<00:06:05.423> your<00:06:05.583> bank<00:06:05.840> account,<00:06:06.466> Apple<00:06:06.723> Pay.

00:06:07.526 --> 00:06:11.782
We<00:06:07.671> accept<00:06:07.944> stock,<00:06:08.650> we<00:06:08.795> accept<00:06:09.598> ETFs<00:06:10.015> and<00:06:10.096> mutual<00:06:10.497> funds,<00:06:11.284> crypto.

00:06:12.344 --> 00:06:17.242
We<00:06:12.521> make<00:06:12.762> it<00:06:12.890> as<00:06:13.131> easy<00:06:13.468> as<00:06:13.629> possible<00:06:14.351> for<00:06:14.512> people<00:06:14.978> to<00:06:15.235> put<00:06:15.475> money<00:06:15.716> aside<00:06:16.760> for<00:06:16.840> charity.

00:06:17.322 --> 00:06:25.079
And<00:06:17.403> so<00:06:17.563> we,<00:06:17.965> we<00:06:18.125> take<00:06:18.511> all<00:06:18.623> that<00:06:18.848> work<00:06:19.105> away<00:06:19.490> from<00:06:19.715> the<00:06:19.747> nonprofit<00:06:21.016> and<00:06:21.080> we<00:06:21.176> try<00:06:21.337> to<00:06:21.433> make<00:06:21.594> it<00:06:21.658> very<00:06:21.899> easy<00:06:22.686> for<00:06:22.782> people<00:06:23.103> to<00:06:23.184> set<00:06:23.409> up<00:06:23.505> things<00:06:23.746> like<00:06:23.971> recurring<00:06:24.468> donations.

00:06:25.352 --> 00:06:31.017
Which<00:06:25.528> of<00:06:25.657> course,<00:06:25.929> if<00:06:25.994> you<00:06:26.138> talk<00:06:26.395> to<00:06:26.475> most<00:06:26.716> nonprofits,<00:06:27.310> they'll<00:06:27.502> tell<00:06:27.759> you<00:06:28.225> that's<00:06:28.546> really<00:06:28.883> what<00:06:29.043> they<00:06:29.284> want<00:06:29.621> to<00:06:29.749> see<00:06:30.167> from<00:06:30.391> their<00:06:30.568> donors.

00:06:31.065 --> 00:06:35.752
It's<00:06:31.210> not<00:06:31.370> just<00:06:31.595> a<00:06:31.756> one-time<00:06:32.253> gift,<00:06:32.895> but<00:06:33.280> ongoing<00:06:33.874> support<00:06:34.901> for<00:06:35.046> the<00:06:35.158> organization.

00:06:36.747 --> 00:06:44.114
And<00:06:36.940> so<00:06:37.213> a<00:06:37.229> lot<00:06:37.469> of<00:06:37.550> organizations<00:06:38.176> are<00:06:38.272> spending<00:06:38.593> time<00:06:38.834> out<00:06:38.914> there<00:06:39.074> trying<00:06:39.235> to<00:06:39.315> figure<00:06:39.540> out<00:06:39.572> how<00:06:39.652> they<00:06:39.797> can<00:06:39.957> better<00:06:40.262> utilize<00:06:40.840> donor<00:06:41.081> advised<00:06:41.546> funds<00:06:41.963> and,<00:06:42.268> and<00:06:42.365> the<00:06:42.509> people<00:06:42.766> who<00:06:42.846> put<00:06:43.087> money<00:06:43.247> aside<00:06:43.649> into<00:06:43.873> them.

00:06:44.531 --> 00:06:49.090
Um,<00:06:44.612> we're<00:06:44.756> just<00:06:44.852> trying<00:06:45.013> to<00:06:45.077> make<00:06:45.254> that<00:06:45.430> as<00:06:45.575> easy<00:06:45.815> as<00:06:45.960> possible<00:06:46.377> for<00:06:46.538> people<00:06:47.019> and<00:06:47.099> as<00:06:47.260> broadly<00:06:47.757> available<00:06:48.544> as<00:06:48.704> possible.

00:06:49.908 --> 00:06:50.550
That's<00:06:50.085> incredible.

00:06:50.614 --> 00:06:52.621
And<00:06:50.711> the<00:06:50.855> growth<00:06:51.176> you've<00:06:51.288> experienced<00:06:51.818> sounds<00:06:52.139> incredible.

00:06:52.701 --> 00:06:53.953
How,<00:06:52.877> how<00:06:53.038> do<00:06:53.102> you,<00:06:53.279> where<00:06:53.375> do<00:06:53.487> you<00:06:53.519> go<00:06:53.664> from<00:06:53.840> here?

00:06:55.670 --> 00:06:57.147
Oh,<00:06:55.831> it's<00:06:55.959> still<00:06:56.152> very<00:06:56.489> early<00:06:56.730> days.

00:06:57.276 --> 00:07:03.569
I<00:06:57.292> mean,<00:06:57.517> we<00:06:57.677> have<00:06:57.998> a<00:06:58.239> fairly<00:06:59.845> audacious<00:07:00.342> goal,<00:07:00.968> I<00:07:01.049> would<00:07:01.145> say,<00:07:02.269> for<00:07:02.381> the<00:07:02.494> platform,<00:07:03.232> right?

00:07:03.617 --> 00:07:09.943
You<00:07:03.698> know,<00:07:04.276> our<00:07:04.597> basic<00:07:04.982> insight<00:07:05.319> is<00:07:05.464> that<00:07:05.624> actually<00:07:05.961> giving<00:07:06.684> is<00:07:06.844> a<00:07:07.230> really<00:07:07.647> large<00:07:08.450> market<00:07:09.333> in<00:07:09.477> the<00:07:09.558> US.

00:07:10.296 --> 00:07:11.853
It's<00:07:10.553> a<00:07:10.617> huge<00:07:10.938> part<00:07:11.340> of<00:07:11.404> the<00:07:11.500> economy.

00:07:11.902 --> 00:07:15.915
It's<00:07:12.126> almost<00:07:12.383> half<00:07:12.720> a<00:07:12.785> trillion<00:07:13.122> dollars<00:07:13.523> a<00:07:13.652> year<00:07:14.470> going<00:07:14.695> to<00:07:14.791> charity<00:07:15.353> in<00:07:15.498> the<00:07:15.578> US.

00:07:16.718 --> 00:07:20.491
But<00:07:16.879> we<00:07:17.103> actually,<00:07:17.280> as<00:07:17.440> big<00:07:17.617> as<00:07:17.745> that<00:07:17.906> number<00:07:18.227> is,<00:07:19.528> we<00:07:19.688> think<00:07:19.865> it<00:07:19.929> could<00:07:20.089> be<00:07:20.234> bigger.

00:07:20.956 --> 00:07:31.363
You<00:07:20.988> know,<00:07:21.116> the<00:07:21.213> research<00:07:21.614> says<00:07:22.111> that<00:07:22.319> when<00:07:22.495> people<00:07:23.121> are<00:07:23.217> intentional,<00:07:24.019> when<00:07:24.179> they,<00:07:24.724> when<00:07:24.821> they<00:07:24.901> set<00:07:25.141> a<00:07:25.302> goal<00:07:25.703> for<00:07:25.863> their<00:07:26.087> giving,<00:07:26.504> when<00:07:26.665> they<00:07:26.825> pre-commit,<00:07:28.028> they<00:07:28.188> end<00:07:28.332> up<00:07:28.573> giving<00:07:29.150> 32%<00:07:30.273> more<00:07:30.834> to<00:07:30.914> charity.

00:07:32.502 --> 00:07:41.401
And<00:07:32.598> so<00:07:32.758> as<00:07:32.918> big<00:07:33.159> as<00:07:33.255> the<00:07:33.319> number<00:07:33.624> is<00:07:33.800> in<00:07:33.881> the<00:07:33.961> US,<00:07:34.346> we<00:07:34.506> actually<00:07:34.843> think<00:07:35.324> that<00:07:35.500> most<00:07:35.965> people<00:07:37.072> actually<00:07:37.489> don't<00:07:38.371> give<00:07:38.595> as<00:07:38.707> much<00:07:38.948> to<00:07:39.092> charity<00:07:39.493> as<00:07:39.637> they<00:07:39.814> want<00:07:40.118> to,<00:07:41.241> right?

00:07:41.481 --> 00:07:42.652
Life<00:07:41.738> gets<00:07:41.962> in<00:07:42.043> the<00:07:42.123> way,<00:07:42.299> etc.

00:07:42.700 --> 00:07:57.909
And<00:07:42.860> so<00:07:43.021> we're,<00:07:43.566> we're<00:07:43.742> hoping<00:07:44.063> to<00:07:44.159> build<00:07:44.368> a<00:07:44.400> platform<00:07:45.025> where<00:07:45.891> at<00:07:45.987> scale,<00:07:46.549> you<00:07:46.709> know,<00:07:46.789> millions<00:07:47.270> of<00:07:47.350> people<00:07:47.977> who<00:07:48.155> care<00:07:48.721> about<00:07:48.963> causes<00:07:49.352> and<00:07:49.449> organizations<00:07:50.889> are<00:07:50.986> putting<00:07:51.390> money<00:07:51.633> aside,<00:07:52.604> and<00:07:52.685> it's<00:07:52.830> a<00:07:52.927> better<00:07:53.170> place<00:07:53.413> for<00:07:53.493> them<00:07:53.671> to<00:07:53.801> discover<00:07:54.367> from<00:07:54.610> each<00:07:54.933> other<00:07:55.354> other<00:07:55.661> organizations<00:07:56.470> and<00:07:56.632> causes<00:07:57.036> they<00:07:57.198> can<00:07:57.359> support.

00:07:58.652 --> 00:08:06.389
And<00:07:58.749> it's<00:07:58.845> a<00:07:58.910> better<00:07:59.152> place<00:07:59.475> for<00:07:59.572> nonprofits<00:08:00.364> to<00:08:00.445> find<00:08:01.091> people<00:08:01.818> who<00:08:01.979> care<00:08:02.625> about<00:08:02.932> the<00:08:03.013> causes,<00:08:04.144> um,<00:08:04.870> and,<00:08:05.113> and<00:08:05.210> the<00:08:05.355> initiatives<00:08:05.791> that<00:08:05.936> they're<00:08:06.082> driving.

00:08:08.230 --> 00:08:09.805
What<00:08:08.280> does<00:08:08.429> a<00:08:08.496> typical<00:08:08.910> day<00:08:09.075> look<00:08:09.308> like<00:08:09.490> for<00:08:09.573> you?

00:08:11.667 --> 00:08:13.586
Oh,<00:08:11.909> uh,<00:08:12.312> you<00:08:12.409> know,<00:08:12.634> in<00:08:12.667> some<00:08:12.876> ways<00:08:13.070> it's<00:08:13.215> mundane.

00:08:13.860 --> 00:08:21.151
I,<00:08:14.021> I<00:08:14.167> live<00:08:14.408> in,<00:08:14.812> in<00:08:14.908> Silicon<00:08:15.312> Valley,<00:08:15.634> but<00:08:15.860> you<00:08:15.892> know,<00:08:16.053> my,<00:08:16.440> my<00:08:16.602> day<00:08:16.698> mostly<00:08:17.021> starts<00:08:17.392> like<00:08:17.489> most<00:08:17.569> parents<00:08:17.698> with,<00:08:17.779> uh,<00:08:19.532> the<00:08:19.613> rush<00:08:19.853> to<00:08:19.933> get<00:08:20.077> the<00:08:20.174> kids<00:08:20.398> out<00:08:20.574> to<00:08:20.655> school.

00:08:22.578 --> 00:08:27.627
My<00:08:22.738> wife<00:08:22.979> and<00:08:23.043> I<00:08:23.139> have<00:08:23.299> 4<00:08:23.524> children,<00:08:23.941> so,<00:08:24.806> you<00:08:24.886> know,<00:08:24.983> it<00:08:25.063> turns<00:08:25.303> out<00:08:25.447> drop-off<00:08:25.960> is<00:08:26.105> not<00:08:26.425> as<00:08:26.521> easy<00:08:26.986> as<00:08:27.050> you<00:08:27.146> might<00:08:27.371> think.

00:08:28.749 --> 00:08:31.282
So<00:08:29.070> it<00:08:29.230> starts<00:08:29.551> there<00:08:29.872> and<00:08:30.208> some<00:08:30.497> coffee<00:08:30.833> in<00:08:30.897> the<00:08:30.978> morning.

00:08:31.394 --> 00:08:45.901
But,<00:08:32.516> you<00:08:32.613> know,<00:08:32.741> one<00:08:32.901> of<00:08:33.238> the<00:08:33.382> habits<00:08:33.703> that<00:08:33.799> I<00:08:33.879> got<00:08:34.119> into<00:08:34.921> earlier<00:08:35.306> in<00:08:35.338> my<00:08:35.562> career<00:08:35.963> was<00:08:36.123> advice<00:08:36.588> actually<00:08:36.828> from<00:08:37.486> one<00:08:37.582> of<00:08:37.646> the<00:08:37.726> partners<00:08:38.127> I<00:08:38.207> worked<00:08:38.431> for<00:08:38.848> at<00:08:38.928> a<00:08:38.992> venture<00:08:39.233> capital<00:08:39.569> firm,<00:08:40.692> was<00:08:40.916> really<00:08:41.172> to<00:08:41.253> be<00:08:41.413> intentional<00:08:41.974> going<00:08:42.230> into<00:08:42.455> the<00:08:42.615> day,<00:08:43.801> the<00:08:43.962> week,<00:08:44.378> the<00:08:44.458> month,<00:08:44.939> any<00:08:45.180> time<00:08:45.500> period.

00:08:46.463 --> 00:08:49.082
About<00:08:46.688> what<00:08:46.784> were<00:08:46.929> the<00:08:47.025> 3<00:08:47.427> most<00:08:47.684> important<00:08:48.070> things<00:08:48.375> you<00:08:48.455> were<00:08:48.488> going<00:08:48.584> to<00:08:48.632> get<00:08:48.873> done.

00:08:49.130 --> 00:08:58.080
And<00:08:49.275> so<00:08:49.580> in<00:08:49.661> the<00:08:49.693> morning,<00:08:50.062> I<00:08:50.159> tend<00:08:50.400> to<00:08:51.428> always<00:08:51.910> make<00:08:52.087> sure,<00:08:52.489> or<00:08:52.585> the<00:08:52.665> night<00:08:52.890> before,<00:08:53.292> make<00:08:53.388> sure<00:08:53.678> that<00:08:53.838> I<00:08:53.935> know<00:08:54.256> ahead<00:08:54.481> of<00:08:54.561> time<00:08:54.802> going<00:08:54.979> into<00:08:55.156> the<00:08:55.284> day<00:08:55.461> that<00:08:55.863> there's<00:08:56.024> at<00:08:56.184> least<00:08:56.586> 3<00:08:56.907> things<00:08:57.229> that<00:08:57.373> I<00:08:57.454> have<00:08:57.630> to<00:08:57.711> get<00:08:57.871> done.

00:08:58.418 --> 00:09:05.488
I<00:08:58.450> mean,<00:08:58.594> now<00:08:58.819> usually<00:08:59.109> I<00:08:59.125> have<00:08:59.301> to<00:08:59.382> get<00:08:59.462> like<00:08:59.559> 100<00:08:59.880> things<00:09:00.121> done,<00:09:00.442> but,<00:09:01.969> but<00:09:02.113> at<00:09:02.210> least<00:09:02.435> I<00:09:02.467> like<00:09:02.676> to<00:09:02.756> know<00:09:02.933> what<00:09:03.093> the<00:09:03.238> highest<00:09:03.576> priority<00:09:03.977> things<00:09:04.283> that<00:09:04.363> I'm<00:09:04.411> going<00:09:04.556> to<00:09:04.620> get<00:09:04.781> done<00:09:05.006> that<00:09:05.182> day.

00:09:05.986 --> 00:09:11.947
And<00:09:06.050> that<00:09:06.211> way,<00:09:06.468> you<00:09:06.500> know,<00:09:06.709> day<00:09:06.870> to<00:09:07.014> day,<00:09:07.271> week<00:09:07.512> to<00:09:07.657> week,<00:09:07.850> et<00:09:07.930> cetera,<00:09:08.300> you're<00:09:08.541> always<00:09:08.958> moving<00:09:09.521> and<00:09:09.633> making<00:09:10.003> progress<00:09:10.629> on<00:09:10.662> the<00:09:10.790> things<00:09:11.063> that<00:09:11.208> matter<00:09:11.513> the<00:09:11.594> most.

00:09:13.868 --> 00:09:15.122
How<00:09:13.900> do<00:09:14.028> you<00:09:14.061> stay<00:09:14.302> motivated?

00:09:15.235 --> 00:09:21.635
I<00:09:15.251> mean,<00:09:15.412> you've<00:09:15.572> had<00:09:15.733> an<00:09:15.830> incredible<00:09:16.376> career—<00:09:17.181> LinkedIn,<00:09:17.969> Wealthfront,<00:09:19.175> um,<00:09:20.252> I'm<00:09:20.461> sure<00:09:20.590> I'm<00:09:20.783> missing<00:09:21.024> some,<00:09:21.523> eBay.

00:09:21.925 --> 00:09:26.640
Like,<00:09:22.150> you,<00:09:22.488> you've<00:09:22.954> worked<00:09:23.131> with<00:09:23.260> these<00:09:23.373> incredible<00:09:24.812> companies,<00:09:25.233> Dropbox,<00:09:26.268> by<00:09:26.365> the<00:09:26.429> way.

00:09:27.481 --> 00:09:28.645
Um,<00:09:27.820> how<00:09:27.917> do<00:09:27.966> you<00:09:28.079> stay<00:09:28.241> motivated?

00:09:28.710 --> 00:09:31.330
I<00:09:28.791> mean,<00:09:29.017> what,<00:09:29.260> what<00:09:29.438> had<00:09:29.599> you<00:09:29.680> sign<00:09:29.939> up<00:09:30.085> for,<00:09:30.424> uh,<00:09:30.489> for<00:09:30.715> another<00:09:31.055> round?

00:09:33.080 --> 00:09:34.123
This<00:09:33.259> is<00:09:33.357> a<00:09:33.422> great<00:09:33.651> question.

00:09:34.319 --> 00:09:35.622
Uh,<00:09:34.465> I<00:09:34.889> get<00:09:35.052> it<00:09:35.133> a<00:09:35.150> lot.

00:09:35.850 --> 00:09:42.169
Um,<00:09:36.193> I,<00:09:36.290> I've<00:09:36.437> been<00:09:36.665> fortunate<00:09:36.926> enough<00:09:37.105> in<00:09:37.235> my<00:09:37.415> career<00:09:38.362> that<00:09:38.748> at<00:09:38.828> a<00:09:38.844> number<00:09:39.229> of<00:09:39.310> different<00:09:39.567> times<00:09:40.033> I<00:09:40.113> had<00:09:40.209> to<00:09:40.354> ask<00:09:40.450> the<00:09:40.595> question,<00:09:40.916> well,<00:09:41.077> what<00:09:41.318> do<00:09:41.478> you<00:09:41.575> want<00:09:41.719> to<00:09:41.816> do<00:09:41.896> next?

00:09:42.217 --> 00:09:43.551
I<00:09:42.282> had<00:09:42.458> multiple<00:09:42.860> opportunities.

00:09:44.852 --> 00:09:48.820
And<00:09:44.932> I<00:09:45.013> think,<00:09:45.205> you<00:09:45.334> know,<00:09:45.446> some<00:09:45.687> of<00:09:45.816> it<00:09:45.912> is<00:09:45.993> based<00:09:46.378> on,<00:09:46.555> you<00:09:46.635> know,<00:09:47.181> my<00:09:47.358> background<00:09:47.840> as<00:09:47.936> an<00:09:48.065> engineer,<00:09:48.483> et<00:09:48.563> cetera.

00:09:48.900 --> 00:09:49.944
I<00:09:48.948> love<00:09:49.125> building<00:09:49.527> things.

00:09:50.009 --> 00:09:50.940
I<00:09:50.169> love<00:09:50.475> products.

00:09:51.117 --> 00:09:54.716
I<00:09:51.294> like<00:09:51.551> seeing<00:09:51.920> technology<00:09:52.659> applied<00:09:53.222> to<00:09:53.447> problems<00:09:54.089> that<00:09:54.282> matter.

00:09:55.615 --> 00:10:05.447
And<00:09:55.696> there's<00:09:55.856> some<00:09:55.953> truth<00:09:56.145> to<00:09:56.258> the<00:09:56.354> fact<00:09:56.659> that<00:09:56.740> if<00:09:56.820> you<00:09:56.916> want<00:09:57.061> to<00:09:57.141> see<00:09:57.318> something<00:09:57.800> built,<00:09:58.844> if<00:09:58.989> you<00:09:59.149> want<00:09:59.310> to<00:09:59.342> see<00:09:59.551> something<00:09:59.888> in<00:09:59.969> the<00:10:00.049> world,<00:10:00.836> um,<00:10:01.013> sometimes<00:10:01.961> you<00:10:02.041> can<00:10:02.154> invest<00:10:03.085> in<00:10:03.166> a<00:10:03.246> company<00:10:03.728> that,<00:10:03.905> that,<00:10:04.065> that's<00:10:04.290> going<00:10:04.386> to<00:10:04.467> do<00:10:04.644> it<00:10:04.772> in<00:10:04.868> a<00:10:04.949> great<00:10:05.190> team.

00:10:06.153 --> 00:10:07.983
Um,<00:10:06.233> but<00:10:06.378> sometimes<00:10:06.795> you<00:10:06.939> dig<00:10:07.132> in<00:10:07.260> and<00:10:07.357> do<00:10:07.453> it<00:10:07.517> yourself.

00:10:08.705 --> 00:10:11.385
Um,<00:10:08.978> and<00:10:09.058> so<00:10:09.202> Daffy,<00:10:09.684> my<00:10:09.844> current<00:10:10.085> company,<00:10:10.390> is,<00:10:10.551> is<00:10:10.711> very<00:10:10.839> much<00:10:10.984> about<00:10:11.289> that.

00:10:11.514 --> 00:10:20.325
I,<00:10:11.674> I<00:10:11.754> was<00:10:11.915> not<00:10:12.172> convinced<00:10:12.476> that<00:10:12.589> a<00:10:12.717> platform<00:10:13.118> like<00:10:13.295> this<00:10:13.520> was<00:10:13.680> going<00:10:13.841> to<00:10:13.921> get<00:10:14.097> built<00:10:15.285> any<00:10:15.462> other<00:10:15.686> way<00:10:15.863> unless<00:10:16.104> we<00:10:16.264> built<00:10:16.665> a<00:10:16.746> new<00:10:16.970> company,<00:10:17.612> a<00:10:17.628> new<00:10:17.949> organization,<00:10:18.736> a,<00:10:18.992> a<00:10:19.169> new<00:10:19.394> platform<00:10:19.955> to<00:10:20.036> do<00:10:20.260> it.

00:10:21.320 --> 00:10:26.311
But<00:10:21.496> if<00:10:21.624> I<00:10:21.705> look<00:10:21.881> at<00:10:21.962> all<00:10:22.122> these<00:10:22.266> different<00:10:22.507> career<00:10:22.764> decisions<00:10:23.229> along<00:10:23.470> the<00:10:23.550> way,<00:10:23.807> there<00:10:23.887> was<00:10:24.032> always<00:10:24.289> a<00:10:24.369> point<00:10:24.626> of<00:10:24.754> like,<00:10:24.915> well,<00:10:25.011> what<00:10:25.187> am<00:10:25.316> I<00:10:25.557> really<00:10:25.797> looking<00:10:26.054> for?

00:10:26.600 --> 00:10:28.975
Where<00:10:26.712> do<00:10:26.857> I<00:10:27.258> feel<00:10:27.498> like<00:10:27.739> I<00:10:27.819> can<00:10:28.124> add<00:10:28.285> the<00:10:28.365> most<00:10:28.686> value?

00:10:29.103 --> 00:10:30.275
What's<00:10:29.328> the<00:10:29.424> best<00:10:29.729> opportunity?

00:10:31.174 --> 00:10:38.092
And<00:10:31.254> the<00:10:31.286> hard<00:10:31.511> part,<00:10:31.671> of<00:10:31.816> course,<00:10:32.073> is<00:10:32.233> really<00:10:32.795> being<00:10:33.035> introspective<00:10:33.918> and<00:10:34.079> thinking<00:10:34.416> about<00:10:35.202> where<00:10:35.443> you're<00:10:35.604> going<00:10:35.748> to<00:10:35.844> do<00:10:36.069> your<00:10:36.326> best<00:10:36.647> work,<00:10:37.033> what's<00:10:37.209> going<00:10:37.322> to<00:10:37.370> motivate<00:10:37.916> you.

00:10:38.879 --> 00:10:46.330
And<00:10:38.976> so<00:10:39.200> each<00:10:39.313> step<00:10:39.634> of<00:10:39.682> the<00:10:39.778> way,<00:10:39.939> I've<00:10:40.164> asked<00:10:40.340> those<00:10:40.581> questions<00:10:41.368> and<00:10:41.464> I've<00:10:41.625> been<00:10:41.769> fortunate<00:10:42.091> enough<00:10:42.347> that,<00:10:42.572> you<00:10:42.604> know,<00:10:43.231> the<00:10:43.391> answer<00:10:43.616> to<00:10:43.712> those<00:10:43.953> questions<00:10:44.290> each<00:10:44.419> time<00:10:44.676> led<00:10:44.836> to<00:10:44.981> some<00:10:45.222> amazing<00:10:45.639> opportunities.

00:10:46.683 --> 00:10:46.843
Right.

00:10:46.908 --> 00:10:50.215
I<00:10:46.924> remember,<00:10:47.871> you<00:10:47.903> know,<00:10:48.048> thinking<00:10:48.288> about<00:10:48.449> what<00:10:48.594> I<00:10:48.610> was<00:10:48.770> going<00:10:48.931> to<00:10:49.252> do<00:10:49.718> after<00:10:50.199> eBay.

00:10:50.777 --> 00:10:52.672
And<00:10:50.874> a<00:10:50.938> friend<00:10:51.163> of<00:10:51.243> mine<00:10:51.484> introduced<00:10:51.885> me<00:10:51.917> to<00:10:52.062> Reid<00:10:52.222> Hoffman.

00:10:53.250 --> 00:11:01.905
We<00:10:53.330> had<00:10:53.491> a<00:10:53.748> long<00:10:54.069> breakfast<00:10:54.470> talking<00:10:54.792> about<00:10:55.016> the<00:10:55.113> future<00:10:55.370> of<00:10:55.498> the<00:10:55.594> web<00:10:55.996> and<00:10:56.622> product<00:10:57.120> and<00:10:57.425> what<00:10:57.521> that<00:10:57.682> meant<00:10:58.147> for,<00:10:58.469> you<00:10:58.501> know,<00:10:59.287> professionals<00:11:00.636> and<00:11:00.957> marketplaces.

00:11:02.242 --> 00:11:06.154
And,<00:11:02.964> you<00:11:02.997> know,<00:11:03.782> I<00:11:03.863> think<00:11:03.975> it<00:11:04.007> was<00:11:04.055> something<00:11:04.279> like<00:11:04.423> a<00:11:04.504> week<00:11:04.664> or<00:11:04.744> two<00:11:04.904> later,<00:11:05.209> I<00:11:05.241> started<00:11:05.706> at<00:11:05.786> LinkedIn.

00:11:07.244 --> 00:11:08.639
LinkedIn<00:11:07.629> was<00:11:07.725> quite<00:11:07.966> small<00:11:08.206> at<00:11:08.254> the<00:11:08.334> time.

00:11:09.552 --> 00:11:11.251
And<00:11:09.697> now<00:11:09.793> that's<00:11:09.969> become<00:11:10.209> an<00:11:10.290> amazing<00:11:10.835> platform.

00:11:11.379 --> 00:11:26.798
And<00:11:11.476> so<00:11:11.572> when<00:11:11.652> I<00:11:11.796> think<00:11:11.876> about<00:11:12.053> LinkedIn,<00:11:12.277> when<00:11:12.598> I<00:11:12.742> think<00:11:12.902> about<00:11:13.143> Wealthfront,<00:11:14.184> eBay,<00:11:14.521> Dropbox,<00:11:16.220> or<00:11:16.364> Daffy,<00:11:16.989> you<00:11:17.021> know,<00:11:17.726> taking<00:11:18.047> a<00:11:18.287> little<00:11:18.528> bit<00:11:18.688> of<00:11:18.832> time<00:11:20.034> in<00:11:20.211> between<00:11:21.637> to<00:11:21.717> actually<00:11:21.974> think<00:11:22.294> about<00:11:22.519> what<00:11:22.679> you've<00:11:22.919> learned<00:11:23.961> and<00:11:24.362> how<00:11:24.474> you're<00:11:24.554> going<00:11:24.650> to<00:11:24.698> apply<00:11:25.099> that<00:11:25.340> and<00:11:25.804> what<00:11:25.901> you<00:11:25.965> want<00:11:26.061> to<00:11:26.205> do<00:11:26.269> next.

00:11:27.728 --> 00:11:35.459
I<00:11:27.824> think<00:11:28.048> that<00:11:28.321> some<00:11:28.625> of<00:11:28.705> us<00:11:28.866> get<00:11:29.042> trapped<00:11:29.491> a<00:11:29.571> little<00:11:29.747> bit<00:11:29.891> into<00:11:30.004> that<00:11:30.212> cycle<00:11:30.565> without<00:11:30.853> actually<00:11:31.190> taking<00:11:31.574> the<00:11:31.670> time<00:11:31.991> to<00:11:32.280> think<00:11:33.355> about<00:11:33.612> our<00:11:33.757> careers,<00:11:34.222> our<00:11:34.319> jobs,<00:11:34.560> or<00:11:34.640> what<00:11:34.800> to<00:11:34.897> do<00:11:35.041> next.

00:11:35.507 --> 00:11:40.468
And<00:11:36.470> I<00:11:36.551> really<00:11:36.727> do<00:11:36.888> recommend<00:11:37.305> that<00:11:37.450> people<00:11:37.755> do<00:11:37.996> find<00:11:38.333> the<00:11:38.413> way<00:11:38.574> to<00:11:38.718> take<00:11:38.959> that<00:11:39.136> time<00:11:39.874> if<00:11:40.019> they<00:11:40.179> can.

00:11:40.902 --> 00:11:46.056
I<00:11:40.982> mean,<00:11:41.143> you,<00:11:41.464> you<00:11:41.560> know,<00:11:42.106> every<00:11:42.347> few<00:11:42.572> years<00:11:42.909> you<00:11:42.989> get<00:11:43.086> this<00:11:43.375> opportunity<00:11:44.097> to<00:11:44.194> think<00:11:44.450> about<00:11:45.061> what<00:11:45.221> you<00:11:45.301> want<00:11:45.446> to<00:11:45.478> do<00:11:45.623> next.

00:11:46.425 --> 00:11:47.003
How<00:11:46.490> are<00:11:46.522> you<00:11:46.602> going<00:11:46.698> to<00:11:46.827> grow?

00:11:47.806 --> 00:11:49.332
Where<00:11:47.967> can<00:11:48.063> you<00:11:48.127> have<00:11:48.304> the<00:11:48.384> most<00:11:48.673> impact?

00:11:50.038 --> 00:11:53.892
And<00:11:50.359> I,<00:11:50.536> I<00:11:50.680> think<00:11:50.857> that<00:11:51.178> it's<00:11:51.403> worth<00:11:51.660> taking<00:11:51.981> that<00:11:52.206> opportunity<00:11:52.784> when,<00:11:53.025> when<00:11:53.185> life<00:11:53.410> presents<00:11:53.747> it.

00:11:55.112 --> 00:11:56.926
What<00:11:55.192> did<00:11:55.353> you<00:11:55.433> learn<00:11:55.610> about<00:11:55.915> leadership<00:11:56.461> from<00:11:56.637> Reed?

00:11:58.708 --> 00:11:59.333
Oh,<00:11:58.804> so<00:11:59.061> much.

00:11:59.991 --> 00:12:03.793
Reed's<00:12:00.504> a<00:12:00.633> very<00:12:00.970> interesting<00:12:02.493> person,<00:12:02.878> obviously<00:12:03.215> very<00:12:03.440> unique.

00:12:03.841 --> 00:12:06.632
It's<00:12:04.162> not<00:12:04.258> surprising<00:12:04.739> to<00:12:04.819> me<00:12:04.980> that<00:12:05.076> he's<00:12:05.285> had<00:12:05.445> the<00:12:05.477> success<00:12:06.006> that<00:12:06.103> he's<00:12:06.263> had.

00:12:07.626 --> 00:12:20.892
But<00:12:07.771> for<00:12:07.867> me,<00:12:08.092> from<00:12:09.134> what<00:12:09.375> Reed<00:12:09.632> did<00:12:09.792> fantastically<00:12:10.835> well<00:12:12.519> was<00:12:12.679> just<00:12:12.856> around<00:12:13.145> the<00:12:13.241> clarity<00:12:14.909> of<00:12:15.069> his<00:12:15.326> thinking<00:12:15.984> strategically,<00:12:17.556> like<00:12:17.812> why<00:12:18.133> a<00:12:18.213> company<00:12:18.614> needed<00:12:18.855> to<00:12:18.999> exist,<00:12:19.416> why<00:12:19.561> a<00:12:19.577> platform,<00:12:20.363> why<00:12:20.700> now.

00:12:21.293 --> 00:12:32.196
Some<00:12:22.143> of<00:12:22.208> the<00:12:22.320> advice<00:12:22.769> I<00:12:22.849> give<00:12:23.010> to<00:12:23.106> product<00:12:23.491> leaders<00:12:23.972> and<00:12:24.068> to<00:12:24.149> leaders<00:12:24.469> in<00:12:24.630> general<00:12:26.137> is<00:12:26.313> around<00:12:26.554> strategy,<00:12:27.179> that<00:12:27.275> clarity<00:12:28.061> of<00:12:28.221> letting<00:12:28.461> your<00:12:28.638> team<00:12:28.958> know<00:12:29.439> what<00:12:29.680> game<00:12:29.936> are<00:12:30.064> you<00:12:30.241> playing<00:12:31.026> and<00:12:31.122> how<00:12:31.363> do<00:12:31.459> you<00:12:31.603> keep<00:12:31.860> score.

00:12:33.126 --> 00:12:34.777
And<00:12:33.206> a<00:12:33.222> lot<00:12:33.511> of<00:12:33.543> that<00:12:33.687> insight<00:12:34.024> I<00:12:34.088> got<00:12:34.248> from<00:12:34.473> Reid.

00:12:35.771 --> 00:12:41.798
Reid<00:12:35.931> was<00:12:36.076> also<00:12:36.316> very<00:12:36.492> thoughtful<00:12:37.214> about<00:12:37.454> things<00:12:37.695> like<00:12:37.919> leadership<00:12:38.400> and<00:12:39.057> transition<00:12:40.099> and<00:12:40.484> how<00:12:40.580> to<00:12:40.660> scale<00:12:41.077> organizations.

00:12:41.847 --> 00:12:44.443
He's<00:12:42.007> a<00:12:42.103> natural<00:12:43.450> venture<00:12:43.882> thinker.

00:12:45.694 --> 00:12:49.685
You<00:12:45.742> know,<00:12:45.934> building<00:12:46.255> a<00:12:46.351> company,<00:12:46.816> building<00:12:47.088> a<00:12:47.153> platform<00:12:47.569> involves<00:12:47.954> solving<00:12:48.323> 1,000<00:12:48.916> different<00:12:49.236> problems.

00:12:49.733 --> 00:12:51.657
There's<00:12:49.942> no<00:12:50.182> way<00:12:50.343> you<00:12:50.439> could<00:12:50.583> solve<00:12:50.855> them<00:12:51.016> all<00:12:51.160> at<00:12:51.304> once.

00:12:52.363 --> 00:12:57.393
And<00:12:52.444> so<00:12:52.540> that<00:12:52.749> phase<00:12:53.167> thinking<00:12:53.472> of<00:12:53.552> like,<00:12:53.681> no,<00:12:53.729> no,<00:12:53.890> no,<00:12:54.067> this<00:12:54.372> year,<00:12:55.657> this<00:12:55.898> is<00:12:56.043> the<00:12:56.075> next<00:12:56.380> problem<00:12:56.766> we<00:12:56.846> have<00:12:56.943> to<00:12:57.087> solve.

00:12:58.132 --> 00:13:02.181
He<00:12:58.212> was<00:12:58.373> always<00:12:58.550> very<00:12:58.791> good<00:12:58.935> with<00:12:59.016> the<00:12:59.112> team<00:12:59.369> about,<00:12:59.658> you<00:12:59.690> know,<00:12:59.835> hey,<00:13:00.076> you<00:13:00.237> know,<00:13:00.542> growth,<00:13:01.104> engagement,<00:13:01.844> revenue.

00:13:02.261 --> 00:13:10.793
These<00:13:02.422> are<00:13:02.631> all<00:13:02.888> problems<00:13:03.515> that<00:13:03.611> we<00:13:03.756> have<00:13:04.013> to,<00:13:04.655> we<00:13:04.720> have<00:13:04.816> to<00:13:04.961> work<00:13:05.218> on,<00:13:05.539> but<00:13:05.700> what's<00:13:05.941> the<00:13:06.021> most<00:13:06.278> important<00:13:06.905> problem<00:13:07.628> to<00:13:07.789> work<00:13:08.094> on<00:13:08.512> this<00:13:08.817> year,<00:13:09.620> this<00:13:09.862> quarter<00:13:10.360> right<00:13:10.601> now?

00:13:12.031 --> 00:13:14.071
And,<00:13:12.127> you<00:13:12.288> know,<00:13:12.368> prioritization,<00:13:13.975> right?

00:13:14.152 --> 00:13:17.767
Strategy,<00:13:14.778> those<00:13:15.003> frameworks,<00:13:15.983> if<00:13:16.064> they<00:13:16.144> don't<00:13:16.385> come<00:13:16.851> from<00:13:17.028> the<00:13:17.189> top.

00:13:18.778 --> 00:13:25.166
You,<00:13:18.939> you<00:13:19.035> run<00:13:19.212> a<00:13:19.340> real<00:13:19.597> risk,<00:13:19.902> especially<00:13:20.319> if<00:13:20.464> you're<00:13:21.266> running<00:13:21.523> a<00:13:21.603> great<00:13:21.844> organization<00:13:22.406> where<00:13:22.550> you<00:13:22.646> hire<00:13:22.951> a<00:13:23.032> lot<00:13:23.144> of<00:13:23.369> brilliant,<00:13:23.850> motivated,<00:13:24.396> ambitious<00:13:24.893> people.

00:13:26.033 --> 00:13:29.837
If<00:13:26.161> you<00:13:26.258> don't<00:13:26.418> give<00:13:26.579> them<00:13:26.723> the<00:13:26.819> framework<00:13:27.397> to<00:13:27.606> operate<00:13:28.007> in,<00:13:28.906> they<00:13:29.050> will<00:13:29.147> come<00:13:29.323> up<00:13:29.452> with<00:13:29.548> their<00:13:29.692> own.

00:13:30.655 --> 00:13:32.726
And<00:13:30.816> it<00:13:30.896> may<00:13:31.008> not<00:13:31.233> be<00:13:31.378> aligned<00:13:31.715> with<00:13:31.875> what<00:13:32.052> the<00:13:32.180> company<00:13:32.517> needs.

00:13:32.774 --> 00:13:34.411
It<00:13:32.838> may<00:13:32.934> not<00:13:33.159> be<00:13:33.239> aligned<00:13:33.721> with<00:13:34.026> your<00:13:34.202> vision.

00:13:34.459 --> 00:13:38.103
It<00:13:34.523> may<00:13:34.620> not<00:13:34.844> be<00:13:34.925> aligned<00:13:35.326> with<00:13:36.048> what<00:13:36.193> all<00:13:36.289> the<00:13:36.449> other<00:13:36.995> people<00:13:37.172> at<00:13:37.252> the<00:13:37.396> company<00:13:37.717> are<00:13:37.878> doing.

00:13:38.215 --> 00:13:43.319
And<00:13:38.311> so<00:13:38.536> I,<00:13:39.001> I<00:13:39.098> think<00:13:39.258> there<00:13:39.483> really<00:13:39.804> is<00:13:39.900> a<00:13:39.916> lot<00:13:40.157> of<00:13:40.285> leadership<00:13:40.703> responsibility<00:13:41.409> around<00:13:41.666> the<00:13:41.746> framing,<00:13:42.388> around<00:13:42.613> the<00:13:42.693> strategy.

00:13:43.819 --> 00:13:44.777
That<00:13:43.981> you<00:13:44.079> give<00:13:44.306> your<00:13:44.484> team.

00:13:45.361 --> 00:13:47.016
And<00:13:45.539> a<00:13:45.620> lot<00:13:45.766> of<00:13:45.799> that<00:13:46.026> insight<00:13:46.351> I<00:13:46.432> got<00:13:46.594> from<00:13:46.756> Reid.

00:13:48.680 --> 00:13:51.094
How<00:13:48.761> are<00:13:48.859> you<00:13:48.957> thinking<00:13:49.267> about<00:13:49.593> AI<00:13:49.936> as<00:13:50.082> it<00:13:50.164> relates<00:13:50.588> to<00:13:50.670> Daffy?

00:13:52.600 --> 00:13:54.457
Are<00:13:52.696> you<00:13:52.777> going<00:13:52.842> to<00:13:52.939> implement<00:13:53.343> that<00:13:53.456> into<00:13:53.666> the<00:13:53.763> product<00:13:54.231> at<00:13:54.312> all?

00:13:54.958 --> 00:14:02.863
Or<00:13:55.443> yeah,<00:13:55.701> I<00:13:55.782> mean,<00:13:56.008> and<00:13:56.251> even<00:13:56.412> just<00:13:56.590> generally,<00:13:57.058> given<00:13:57.301> your<00:13:57.414> vast<00:13:57.737> experience<00:13:58.351> in,<00:13:58.593> in<00:13:58.690> tech<00:13:59.029> and<00:13:59.175> as<00:13:59.352> a<00:13:59.417> developer,<00:14:00.568> I'd<00:14:00.616> love<00:14:00.778> just<00:14:00.956> your<00:14:01.118> overall<00:14:01.602> thoughts<00:14:01.926> on<00:14:02.007> the<00:14:02.087> technology<00:14:02.572> as<00:14:02.734> well.

00:14:02.912 --> 00:14:12.373
Oh,<00:14:02.976> well,<00:14:04.011> I<00:14:04.172> mean,<00:14:04.253> I<00:14:04.350> think,<00:14:05.158> I<00:14:05.175> mean,<00:14:05.401> true<00:14:05.579> to<00:14:05.660> my<00:14:05.870> roots<00:14:06.274> and,<00:14:06.597> uh,<00:14:07.745> I<00:14:07.809> think<00:14:07.906> where<00:14:08.068> I<00:14:08.213> am<00:14:08.310> in<00:14:08.391> Silicon<00:14:08.747> Valley,<00:14:08.860> I<00:14:08.957> think<00:14:09.183> everyone<00:14:09.893> is<00:14:09.990> excited<00:14:10.477> about<00:14:10.931> all<00:14:10.963> the<00:14:11.028> different<00:14:11.336> things<00:14:11.514> that<00:14:11.660> AI<00:14:11.919> can<00:14:12.082> do.

00:14:13.119 --> 00:14:17.431
And<00:14:13.297> there's<00:14:13.476> a<00:14:13.541> flurry<00:14:14.173> of<00:14:14.254> activity<00:14:14.838> because<00:14:15.567> the<00:14:15.664> technology<00:14:16.280> is<00:14:16.394> moving<00:14:16.767> quickly<00:14:17.172> right<00:14:17.350> now.

00:14:18.856 --> 00:14:22.380
And<00:14:18.952> even<00:14:19.113> if<00:14:19.177> fundamentally<00:14:19.757> the<00:14:19.837> technology<00:14:20.256> isn't<00:14:20.465> moving<00:14:20.706> quickly,<00:14:21.286> it's<00:14:21.446> the<00:14:21.672> end<00:14:21.833> result.

00:14:22.509 --> 00:14:27.336
The<00:14:22.653> improvement<00:14:24.021> in<00:14:24.408> what<00:14:24.504> these<00:14:24.665> LLM<00:14:24.923> models<00:14:25.293> can<00:14:25.389> do<00:14:26.419> has<00:14:26.580> just<00:14:26.757> been<00:14:26.918> phenomenal.

00:14:27.840 --> 00:14:36.983
If<00:14:27.936> you<00:14:28.016> think<00:14:28.177> about<00:14:28.338> how<00:14:29.302> short<00:14:29.800> the<00:14:29.880> time<00:14:30.137> has<00:14:30.346> been<00:14:31.102> since<00:14:32.130> OpenAI<00:14:32.676> released,<00:14:33.560> you<00:14:33.592> know,<00:14:33.737> GPT<00:14:34.219> for<00:14:34.380> people<00:14:34.621> to<00:14:34.701> play<00:14:34.926> with,<00:14:35.199> it<00:14:35.344> really<00:14:35.649> has<00:14:35.810> not<00:14:36.147> been<00:14:36.469> a<00:14:36.533> lot<00:14:36.710> of<00:14:36.790> time.

00:14:38.274 --> 00:14:48.586
Now<00:14:38.434> at<00:14:38.514> Daffy,<00:14:38.899> of<00:14:38.995> course,<00:14:39.236> we<00:14:39.380> look<00:14:39.492> at<00:14:39.557> the<00:14:39.637> same<00:14:39.877> way<00:14:39.942> a<00:14:39.958> lot<00:14:40.214> of<00:14:40.278> startups<00:14:41.080> look<00:14:41.257> at<00:14:41.385> it,<00:14:41.545> which<00:14:41.786> is<00:14:42.283> how<00:14:42.444> can<00:14:42.604> we<00:14:42.748> use<00:14:42.989> this<00:14:43.085> technology<00:14:43.630> and<00:14:43.791> platform<00:14:44.208> to<00:14:44.432> do<00:14:44.609> what<00:14:44.769> we<00:14:44.994> do<00:14:45.314> better<00:14:46.678> and<00:14:47.159> rethink<00:14:47.592> some<00:14:47.816> of<00:14:47.848> the<00:14:47.961> things<00:14:48.217> we<00:14:48.362> do.

00:14:49.244 --> 00:14:51.184
And<00:14:49.324> some<00:14:49.404> of<00:14:49.484> them<00:14:49.645> are<00:14:49.677> soft<00:14:50.046> touches,<00:14:51.008> right?

00:14:51.249 --> 00:15:00.984
It<00:14:51.505> might<00:14:51.746> mean<00:14:52.002> that<00:14:52.147> when<00:14:52.227> you<00:14:52.307> make<00:14:52.484> a<00:14:52.548> donation<00:14:53.173> on<00:14:53.350> Daffy,<00:14:53.831> instead<00:14:54.168> of<00:14:54.296> just<00:14:54.553> getting<00:14:54.873> a<00:14:55.034> table<00:14:55.739> of<00:14:55.836> data,<00:14:56.782> you<00:14:56.878> get<00:14:57.103> language<00:14:57.840> framed<00:14:58.145> to<00:14:58.306> you,<00:14:58.787> you<00:14:58.883> know,<00:14:59.765> in<00:14:59.925> English,<00:15:00.872> right?

00:15:01.048 --> 00:15:06.293
Kind<00:15:01.353> of,<00:15:01.994> you<00:15:02.091> know,<00:15:02.235> as<00:15:02.315> a<00:15:02.395> thank<00:15:02.652> you<00:15:02.812> for<00:15:03.358> what<00:15:03.518> you've<00:15:03.935> done<00:15:04.320> and<00:15:04.480> encouraging<00:15:05.298> people<00:15:05.603> to<00:15:05.699> give<00:15:05.876> a<00:15:05.940> bit<00:15:06.164> more.

00:15:06.966 --> 00:15:09.484
We<00:15:07.062> certainly<00:15:07.383> have<00:15:07.527> used<00:15:07.768> AI<00:15:08.169> on,<00:15:08.409> on<00:15:08.506> the<00:15:08.586> development<00:15:09.067> side.

00:15:09.532 --> 00:15:12.017
You<00:15:09.564> know,<00:15:09.788> there<00:15:09.949> are<00:15:10.093> old,<00:15:10.494> you<00:15:10.526> know,<00:15:10.831> we're<00:15:10.991> in<00:15:11.055> the<00:15:11.087> nonprofit<00:15:11.729> industry.

00:15:12.098 --> 00:15:17.630
You'd<00:15:12.194> be<00:15:12.274> surprised<00:15:12.659> how<00:15:12.739> much<00:15:12.980> government<00:15:13.380> data<00:15:13.701> comes<00:15:13.958> in<00:15:14.038> these<00:15:14.423> really<00:15:15.545> arcane<00:15:16.267> and<00:15:16.363> archaic<00:15:16.988> formats.

00:15:18.351 --> 00:15:25.118
And<00:15:18.432> the<00:15:18.528> ability<00:15:19.009> now<00:15:19.394> using<00:15:19.650> AI<00:15:19.891> to<00:15:19.971> not<00:15:20.131> only<00:15:20.372> run<00:15:20.612> through<00:15:20.789> that<00:15:21.029> data,<00:15:21.414> but<00:15:21.510> then<00:15:21.719> process<00:15:22.152> it<00:15:22.280> and<00:15:22.440> turn<00:15:22.617> it<00:15:22.697> into<00:15:22.921> something<00:15:23.338> that<00:15:23.499> humans<00:15:24.124> will<00:15:24.220> find<00:15:24.557> accessible.

00:15:25.664 --> 00:15:27.283
I<00:15:25.680> mean,<00:15:25.904> it's<00:15:26.048> fantastic,<00:15:27.091> right?

00:15:27.331 --> 00:15:33.617
A<00:15:27.411> lot<00:15:27.588> of<00:15:27.668> people<00:15:28.053> want<00:15:28.293> to<00:15:28.374> know<00:15:28.534> more<00:15:28.710> about<00:15:29.031> the<00:15:29.191> organizations<00:15:29.833> they're<00:15:29.993> donating<00:15:30.474> to,<00:15:30.699> and<00:15:30.779> a<00:15:30.875> lot<00:15:31.051> of<00:15:31.116> that<00:15:31.340> data<00:15:31.581> is<00:15:31.757> hidden<00:15:31.998> away<00:15:32.318> in<00:15:32.463> places<00:15:32.944> that's<00:15:33.280> hard.

00:15:34.226 --> 00:15:36.342
For<00:15:34.386> people<00:15:34.659> to<00:15:34.803> get<00:15:35.028> to<00:15:35.524> or<00:15:35.685> understand.

00:15:36.390 --> 00:15:41.503
And<00:15:37.111> AI<00:15:37.352> helps<00:15:37.752> Daffy<00:15:38.169> do<00:15:38.474> all<00:15:38.666> those<00:15:38.970> things<00:15:39.756> better,<00:15:40.092> at<00:15:40.237> least<00:15:40.397> the<00:15:40.477> technology<00:15:41.054> and<00:15:41.198> tools.

00:15:42.320 --> 00:15:50.318
Um,<00:15:42.961> but<00:15:43.057> I<00:15:43.122> mean,<00:15:43.282> I<00:15:43.362> think<00:15:43.522> in<00:15:43.602> general,<00:15:44.243> um,<00:15:44.420> there's<00:15:44.580> a<00:15:44.644> lot<00:15:44.756> of<00:15:44.820> different<00:15:45.061> camps<00:15:45.397> around<00:15:45.702> AI<00:15:46.007> right<00:15:46.199> now,<00:15:46.359> a<00:15:46.423> lot<00:15:46.519> of<00:15:46.584> fighting<00:15:46.984> going<00:15:47.209> on<00:15:47.545> online<00:15:48.090> and<00:15:48.747> even<00:15:48.988> in<00:15:49.308> political<00:15:49.789> circles.

00:15:50.574 --> 00:15:53.075
Um,<00:15:50.991> I<00:15:51.135> tend<00:15:51.296> to<00:15:51.376> be<00:15:51.536> an<00:15:51.776> optimist<00:15:52.209> about<00:15:52.498> technology.

00:15:53.139 --> 00:15:58.300
I<00:15:53.155> tend<00:15:53.395> to<00:15:53.459> think<00:15:54.117> more<00:15:54.357> about<00:15:54.661> all<00:15:54.838> the<00:15:54.982> new<00:15:55.142> things<00:15:55.399> that<00:15:55.543> we<00:15:55.639> can<00:15:55.880> do<00:15:56.200> with<00:15:56.344> the<00:15:56.441> technology,<00:15:57.066> all<00:15:57.162> the<00:15:57.242> things<00:15:57.546> we<00:15:57.643> can<00:15:57.787> improve.

00:15:58.348 --> 00:16:00.095
And<00:15:58.444> so<00:15:58.508> I'm<00:15:58.684> very<00:15:59.005> bullish<00:15:59.390> on<00:15:59.470> the<00:15:59.566> technology.

00:16:00.528 --> 00:16:02.659
I<00:16:00.688> do<00:16:00.912> think<00:16:01.105> it's<00:16:01.249> a<00:16:01.265> massive<00:16:01.954> platform<00:16:02.435> shift.

00:16:03.253 --> 00:16:09.210
These<00:16:03.414> platform<00:16:03.879> shifts<00:16:04.200> don't<00:16:04.441> happen<00:16:04.778> that<00:16:05.003> often<00:16:05.260> in<00:16:05.405> the<00:16:05.501> industry,<00:16:05.902> but<00:16:06.047> reliably<00:16:06.625> every<00:16:06.785> 5<00:16:07.123> to<00:16:07.203> 7<00:16:07.572> years,<00:16:07.749> something<00:16:08.231> forces<00:16:08.632> you<00:16:08.712> to<00:16:08.857> rethink.

00:16:09.338 --> 00:16:17.592
Wait,<00:16:10.639> that<00:16:10.864> used<00:16:11.121> to<00:16:11.217> be<00:16:11.426> very<00:16:11.747> expensive<00:16:12.550> and<00:16:12.726> difficult<00:16:13.208> to<00:16:13.369> do<00:16:13.690> at<00:16:13.834> scale,<00:16:14.477> and<00:16:14.573> now<00:16:14.894> it's<00:16:15.055> become<00:16:15.520> inexpensive<00:16:16.259> and<00:16:16.339> very<00:16:16.837> simple<00:16:17.303> to<00:16:17.447> do.

00:16:18.266 --> 00:16:19.278
That<00:16:18.427> changes<00:16:18.828> everything.

00:16:19.615 --> 00:16:35.881
And<00:16:19.711> so,<00:16:20.257> um,<00:16:20.819> I<00:16:20.851> think<00:16:20.996> like<00:16:21.156> a<00:16:21.220> lot<00:16:21.381> of<00:16:21.461> people<00:16:21.558> in<00:16:21.622> Silicon<00:16:21.831> Valley,<00:16:22.023> I<00:16:22.103> think<00:16:22.264> that<00:16:22.344> we're<00:16:22.425> going<00:16:22.489> to<00:16:22.521> see<00:16:22.682> a<00:16:22.922> lot<00:16:23.244> of<00:16:23.340> amazing<00:16:23.886> products<00:16:24.287> and<00:16:24.367> services,<00:16:25.315> uh,<00:16:26.053> sorry,<00:16:26.455> products<00:16:26.776> and<00:16:26.872> services<00:16:27.418> come<00:16:27.643> out<00:16:27.836> in<00:16:28.382> in<00:16:28.462> the<00:16:28.542> next<00:16:29.183> few<00:16:29.567> years<00:16:30.769> that<00:16:30.865> are<00:16:31.090> really<00:16:31.426> going<00:16:31.538> to<00:16:31.651> change<00:16:31.971> the<00:16:32.051> way<00:16:32.212> people<00:16:32.548> look<00:16:33.109> at<00:16:33.173> what<00:16:33.333> they<00:16:33.429> can<00:16:33.590> do<00:16:34.215> online<00:16:34.535> and<00:16:34.647> what<00:16:34.792> they<00:16:34.872> can<00:16:35.032> do<00:16:35.192> with<00:16:35.352> technology.

00:16:36.026 --> 00:16:39.647
So<00:16:36.731> I'm<00:16:36.891> very<00:16:37.051> excited<00:16:37.452> about<00:16:37.740> it<00:16:39.198> in<00:16:39.359> general.

00:16:40.865 --> 00:16:48.637
Yeah,<00:16:40.961> when<00:16:41.105> you<00:16:41.202> think<00:16:41.362> of<00:16:41.474> like<00:16:42.628> the<00:16:42.724> debate<00:16:43.189> that's<00:16:43.349> happening<00:16:44.006> and<00:16:44.086> the<00:16:44.230> people<00:16:44.487> who<00:16:44.647> are<00:16:44.727> kind<00:16:44.903> of<00:16:45.032> down<00:16:45.304> on<00:16:45.432> AI,<00:16:46.233> I<00:16:46.394> tend<00:16:46.554> to<00:16:46.634> share<00:16:46.874> your<00:16:47.035> view<00:16:47.371> on<00:16:47.515> being<00:16:47.756> optimistic<00:16:48.269> about<00:16:48.557> it.

00:16:49.118 --> 00:16:57.517
I<00:16:49.150> never<00:16:49.519> really<00:16:49.775> understand<00:16:51.201> like,<00:16:51.842> you<00:16:51.874> know,<00:16:52.163> AI<00:16:52.435> is<00:16:52.644> going<00:16:53.044> to<00:16:54.904> destroy<00:16:55.369> humanity,<00:16:56.251> turn<00:16:56.507> on<00:16:56.668> us,<00:16:56.908> all<00:16:56.972> that<00:16:57.133> type<00:16:57.229> of<00:16:57.309> stuff.

00:16:57.774 --> 00:17:04.589
I,<00:16:58.031> the<00:16:58.111> only<00:16:58.576> problem<00:16:58.768> is<00:16:58.896> I<00:16:58.929> never<00:16:59.297> really<00:16:59.698> get<00:17:00.276> a<00:17:00.340> good<00:17:00.500> answer<00:17:00.821> to<00:17:01.061> as<00:17:01.157> to<00:17:01.382> how<00:17:02.585> you<00:17:02.617> have<00:17:02.761> like<00:17:02.985> an<00:17:03.066> answer<00:17:03.402> as<00:17:03.547> to<00:17:03.643> like<00:17:03.867> how<00:17:04.044> that<00:17:04.188> would<00:17:04.284> happen.

00:17:05.391 --> 00:17:17.129
Oh,<00:17:05.631> I,<00:17:07.074> unfortunately,<00:17:07.812> actually,<00:17:08.277> I<00:17:08.357> think<00:17:08.518> that<00:17:08.630> there's<00:17:08.919> almost<00:17:09.095> some<00:17:09.335> danger<00:17:10.137> to<00:17:10.201> asking<00:17:10.554> that<00:17:10.682> question<00:17:11.244> because<00:17:11.484> that<00:17:11.725> really<00:17:12.061> gives<00:17:12.302> license<00:17:12.783> to,<00:17:13.104> you<00:17:13.200> know,<00:17:13.489> every<00:17:13.745> sci-fi<00:17:14.290> fan<00:17:14.627> to<00:17:14.771> come<00:17:15.012> up<00:17:15.108> with<00:17:15.429> their<00:17:15.573> favorite<00:17:15.910> movie<00:17:16.231> or<00:17:16.327> story,<00:17:16.808> et<00:17:16.872> cetera.

00:17:17.177 --> 00:17:21.137
And<00:17:17.337> by<00:17:17.497> the<00:17:17.578> way,<00:17:19.197> there's<00:17:19.422> a<00:17:19.502> lot<00:17:19.694> of<00:17:19.758> creative<00:17:20.159> people<00:17:20.544> out<00:17:20.720> there,<00:17:21.025> right?

00:17:21.202 --> 00:17:33.785
Like,<00:17:21.506> you<00:17:21.538> know,<00:17:21.763> I'm<00:17:22.067> not<00:17:22.228> a<00:17:22.308> big<00:17:22.484> horror<00:17:22.805> movie<00:17:23.126> fan<00:17:23.591> or,<00:17:23.831> you<00:17:23.863> know,<00:17:24.088> genre<00:17:24.409> and<00:17:24.489> that<00:17:24.585> sort<00:17:24.809> of<00:17:24.842> thing,<00:17:25.130> but<00:17:25.291> like,<00:17:26.318> you<00:17:26.414> kind<00:17:26.639> of<00:17:26.671> don't<00:17:26.880> want<00:17:26.960> to<00:17:27.056> go<00:17:27.217> through<00:17:27.377> horror<00:17:27.699> movies<00:17:28.020> and<00:17:28.100> come<00:17:28.325> up<00:17:28.357> with<00:17:28.646> all<00:17:28.742> the<00:17:28.887> crazy<00:17:29.144> ways<00:17:29.369> that<00:17:29.465> people<00:17:29.786> have<00:17:29.850> come<00:17:29.963> up<00:17:30.107> to<00:17:30.188> terrify<00:17:30.830> people,<00:17:31.215> like<00:17:31.472> terrifying<00:17:31.938> situations<00:17:32.661> like<00:17:33.062> that,<00:17:33.303> et<00:17:33.399> cetera.

00:17:35.150 --> 00:17:45.973
No,<00:17:35.326> I<00:17:35.792> think<00:17:36.129> that,<00:17:36.755> I<00:17:37.173> think<00:17:37.334> there's<00:17:37.719> always<00:17:38.233> a<00:17:38.297> fear<00:17:38.682> that<00:17:38.779> people<00:17:39.084> have<00:17:39.277> around<00:17:39.582> technology,<00:17:40.144> and<00:17:40.288> I<00:17:40.385> think<00:17:40.561> it's<00:17:40.690> just<00:17:40.866> getting<00:17:41.107> applied<00:17:41.573> to<00:17:41.734> AI<00:17:42.007> as<00:17:42.215> well,<00:17:42.617> which<00:17:43.018> is,<00:17:43.661> wait,<00:17:43.918> this<00:17:44.094> is<00:17:44.239> going<00:17:44.351> to<00:17:44.415> change<00:17:45.042> a<00:17:45.122> lot<00:17:45.347> of<00:17:45.443> things.

00:17:46.326 --> 00:17:49.265
What<00:17:46.551> happens<00:17:46.904> to<00:17:47.113> all<00:17:47.145> the<00:17:47.290> people<00:17:47.755> who<00:17:48.173> did<00:17:48.334> that<00:17:48.558> for<00:17:48.799> a<00:17:48.896> living?

00:17:50.646 --> 00:17:52.155
You<00:17:50.678> know,<00:17:51.144> they'll<00:17:51.304> get<00:17:51.449> replaced,<00:17:52.011> right?

00:17:52.332 --> 00:17:55.733
You<00:17:52.412> know,<00:17:52.589> there's,<00:17:53.632> there's<00:17:54.017> always<00:17:54.258> an<00:17:54.338> analogy<00:17:54.739> that<00:17:54.835> floats<00:17:55.092> around<00:17:55.380> a<00:17:55.396> little<00:17:55.621> bit.

00:17:55.797 --> 00:18:02.404
You<00:17:55.877> know,<00:17:55.974> it's,<00:17:56.118> it's<00:17:56.262> kind<00:17:56.343> of<00:17:56.375> like<00:17:56.519> moving<00:17:56.824> from,<00:17:57.225> you<00:17:57.257> know,<00:17:58.058> horse-drawn<00:17:58.684> carriages<00:17:59.229> and<00:17:59.325> riding<00:17:59.566> horses<00:18:00.031> to,<00:18:00.191> you<00:18:00.223> know,<00:18:00.448> automobiles<00:18:01.089> or<00:18:01.154> other<00:18:01.330> forms<00:18:01.570> of<00:18:01.635> transportation,<00:18:02.292> right?

00:18:02.452 --> 00:18:05.371
And<00:18:02.533> then<00:18:02.998> they<00:18:03.094> show<00:18:03.254> this<00:18:03.415> crazy<00:18:03.735> chart<00:18:04.072> of<00:18:04.200> like,<00:18:04.361> well,<00:18:04.441> how<00:18:04.537> many<00:18:04.762> horses<00:18:05.115> are<00:18:05.259> there?

00:18:05.499 --> 00:18:07.071
And<00:18:05.660> it<00:18:06.157> scares<00:18:06.622> everyone.

00:18:08.530 --> 00:18:27.925
And<00:18:08.707> look,<00:18:08.867> there's<00:18:09.092> a<00:18:09.172> lot<00:18:09.364> of<00:18:09.428> intelligent<00:18:10.054> reasons<00:18:10.711> to<00:18:10.856> be<00:18:11.096> apprehensive<00:18:11.770> about<00:18:11.994> some<00:18:12.235> of<00:18:12.299> the<00:18:12.395> things<00:18:12.700> that<00:18:12.796> could<00:18:12.957> happen<00:18:13.357> with<00:18:13.518> artificial<00:18:14.015> intelligence,<00:18:14.416> especially<00:18:15.763> if<00:18:15.923> we<00:18:16.068> end<00:18:16.180> up<00:18:16.324> creating<00:18:16.886> things<00:18:17.527> that<00:18:17.751> actually<00:18:18.088> have<00:18:18.425> the<00:18:18.569> ability<00:18:19.708> to<00:18:20.013> reason,<00:18:20.655> you<00:18:21.538> know,<00:18:22.163> and<00:18:22.500> interact,<00:18:23.126> operate<00:18:23.463> with<00:18:23.608> people<00:18:24.025> and<00:18:24.506> do<00:18:24.667> things,<00:18:25.229> especially<00:18:25.710> things<00:18:25.870> that<00:18:26.095> humans<00:18:26.593> can't<00:18:26.946> do,<00:18:27.796> right?

00:18:28.021 --> 00:18:31.600
You<00:18:28.053> know,<00:18:28.181> what<00:18:28.278> if<00:18:28.358> we<00:18:28.454> make<00:18:28.615> something<00:18:29.000> that's<00:18:29.273> smarter<00:18:29.947> than<00:18:30.107> us<00:18:30.589> in<00:18:30.685> some<00:18:30.990> way<00:18:31.150> and<00:18:31.230> dimension?

00:18:31.648 --> 00:18:36.189
I<00:18:31.728> think<00:18:32.530> in<00:18:32.611> some<00:18:32.851> ways<00:18:33.092> that's<00:18:33.317> inevitable<00:18:34.456> given<00:18:34.681> the<00:18:34.761> way<00:18:34.857> the<00:18:34.937> technology<00:18:35.483> is<00:18:35.579> progressing.

00:18:37.184 --> 00:18:52.403
But,<00:18:37.409> you<00:18:37.489> know,<00:18:37.810> I<00:18:37.970> think<00:18:38.131> what<00:18:38.227> people<00:18:38.484> miss<00:18:38.789> about<00:18:38.949> the<00:18:39.030> technology<00:18:39.479> and<00:18:39.543> the<00:18:39.672> reason<00:18:40.217> I<00:18:40.394> tend<00:18:40.634> to<00:18:41.180> bias<00:18:41.678> towards<00:18:41.902> the<00:18:41.998> positive<00:18:43.218> is<00:18:43.298> that<00:18:43.427> the<00:18:43.523> history<00:18:43.828> of<00:18:43.908> technology<00:18:44.550> is<00:18:44.646> that<00:18:44.951> actually<00:18:45.433> in<00:18:45.529> the<00:18:45.754> end,<00:18:46.653> It's<00:18:46.829> humans<00:18:47.440> that<00:18:47.552> are<00:18:47.632> the<00:18:47.713> source<00:18:48.403> of<00:18:48.500> value,<00:18:49.142> and<00:18:49.239> they<00:18:49.383> ascribe<00:18:49.769> value,<00:18:50.411> right,<00:18:50.668> in<00:18:50.765> the<00:18:50.893> economy,<00:18:51.712> in<00:18:51.857> what<00:18:51.953> we're<00:18:52.114> doing.

00:18:53.142 --> 00:19:00.161
And<00:18:53.238> so<00:18:54.025> inevitably<00:18:54.523> with<00:18:54.604> technology,<00:18:55.326> technology<00:18:56.033> ends<00:18:56.210> up<00:18:56.370> being<00:18:56.676> utilized<00:18:57.415> by<00:18:57.575> humans<00:18:58.057> to<00:18:58.202> do<00:18:58.378> things<00:18:58.700> better<00:18:59.503> and<00:18:59.647> more<00:18:59.808> valuable.

00:19:00.226 --> 00:19:03.502
And<00:19:00.274> then<00:19:00.370> when<00:19:00.466> you<00:19:00.611> do<00:19:00.772> things<00:19:00.964> that<00:19:01.045> are<00:19:01.109> more<00:19:01.350> valuable,<00:19:01.816> you<00:19:01.912> get<00:19:02.153> more<00:19:02.458> of<00:19:02.555> it,<00:19:03.261> right?

00:19:03.583 --> 00:19:11.871
You<00:19:03.663> know,<00:19:04.305> so<00:19:04.402> many<00:19:04.562> people<00:19:04.868> were<00:19:05.044> worried<00:19:05.301> about,<00:19:05.510> you<00:19:05.542> know,<00:19:05.623> spreadsheets<00:19:06.490> and,<00:19:06.651> and<00:19:06.811> software<00:19:07.373> replacing<00:19:08.514> accountants,<00:19:09.381> but<00:19:09.478> it<00:19:09.606> actually<00:19:09.847> really<00:19:10.024> just<00:19:10.249> changed<00:19:10.747> what<00:19:10.971> good<00:19:11.084> accountants<00:19:11.614> do.

00:19:12.433 --> 00:19:17.725
And<00:19:12.497> I<00:19:12.593> don't<00:19:12.737> think<00:19:12.978> today<00:19:13.251> most<00:19:13.491> accountants<00:19:13.860> would<00:19:14.036> want<00:19:14.341> to<00:19:14.437> live<00:19:14.598> in<00:19:14.678> a<00:19:14.742> world<00:19:15.063> where<00:19:15.159> they<00:19:15.239> didn't<00:19:15.448> have<00:19:15.560> access<00:19:15.881> to<00:19:16.025> computers<00:19:16.523> or<00:19:16.603> spreadsheets,<00:19:17.228> et<00:19:17.308> cetera.

00:19:18.511 --> 00:19:21.767
Um,<00:19:18.848> and,<00:19:18.993> and<00:19:19.089> you<00:19:19.169> see<00:19:19.313> this<00:19:19.426> across<00:19:19.795> the<00:19:19.891> board<00:19:20.035> with<00:19:20.147> a<00:19:20.163> lot<00:19:20.388> of<00:19:20.452> different<00:19:20.773> technology<00:19:21.254> examples.

00:19:21.815 --> 00:19:36.427
And<00:19:21.960> so,<00:19:22.842> um,<00:19:23.243> I<00:19:23.403> tend<00:19:23.580> to<00:19:23.644> think,<00:19:24.125> um,<00:19:24.606> when<00:19:24.702> I<00:19:24.847> look<00:19:24.959> at<00:19:25.023> my<00:19:25.184> own<00:19:25.328> investments<00:19:25.986> as<00:19:26.146> an<00:19:26.210> angel<00:19:26.467> investor,<00:19:26.852> et<00:19:26.932> cetera,<00:19:27.333> and,<00:19:27.429> and<00:19:27.590> my<00:19:27.750> exposure<00:19:28.295> to<00:19:28.552> artificial<00:19:28.937> intelligence,<00:19:30.156> in<00:19:30.300> the<00:19:30.396> end,<00:19:31.102> it<00:19:31.262> always<00:19:31.583> ends<00:19:31.744> up<00:19:31.840> being<00:19:32.097> a<00:19:32.241> tool<00:19:33.283> that<00:19:33.428> allows<00:19:33.845> people<00:19:34.101> to<00:19:34.246> do<00:19:34.406> far<00:19:34.791> more<00:19:35.288> than<00:19:35.433> they<00:19:35.529> could<00:19:35.689> have<00:19:35.850> done<00:19:36.090> before.

00:19:37.213 --> 00:19:40.581
And<00:19:37.277> when<00:19:37.389> a<00:19:37.454> person<00:19:37.855> does<00:19:38.031> something<00:19:38.416> that's<00:19:38.576> more<00:19:38.817> valuable<00:19:39.218> than<00:19:39.298> what<00:19:39.394> they<00:19:39.539> do<00:19:39.635> before,<00:19:39.924> they're<00:19:40.084> worth<00:19:40.341> more.

00:19:40.822 --> 00:19:41.161
Right.

00:19:41.225 --> 00:19:41.853
They're<00:19:41.322> more<00:19:41.483> valuable.

00:19:41.934 --> 00:19:42.739
They're<00:19:42.014> more<00:19:42.191> productive.

00:19:43.464 --> 00:19:45.590
And<00:19:43.512> so<00:19:43.625> of<00:19:43.786> course<00:19:44.446> you<00:19:44.591> want<00:19:44.833> more<00:19:44.930> people<00:19:45.252> like<00:19:45.493> that.

00:19:45.719 --> 00:19:47.893
You<00:19:45.815> want<00:19:46.057> more<00:19:47.024> jobs<00:19:47.491> like<00:19:47.732> that.

00:19:47.974 --> 00:19:49.053
You<00:19:48.070> want<00:19:48.328> more<00:19:48.554> activity.

00:19:49.117 --> 00:19:57.540
And<00:19:49.262> so<00:19:50.554> I<00:19:50.716> think<00:19:50.894> that<00:19:51.282> artificial<00:19:51.589> intelligence<00:19:51.880> is<00:19:52.042> going<00:19:52.139> to<00:19:52.171> be<00:19:52.268> a<00:19:52.349> huge<00:19:52.899> economic<00:19:53.966> boon<00:19:55.810> for<00:19:55.923> society,<00:19:56.537> for<00:19:56.715> people,<00:19:57.200> etc.

00:19:57.589 --> 00:20:00.277
I<00:19:57.605> think<00:19:57.750> we're<00:19:58.171> going<00:19:58.300> to<00:19:58.332> see<00:19:58.559> new<00:19:58.801> companies<00:19:59.222> and<00:19:59.465> products<00:19:59.871> built.

00:20:00.991 --> 00:20:11.300
And<00:20:01.088> yes,<00:20:01.640> I<00:20:01.737> think<00:20:01.964> that<00:20:02.062> some<00:20:02.451> of<00:20:02.857> the<00:20:03.506> existing<00:20:04.009> products<00:20:04.415> and<00:20:04.496> services<00:20:04.982> that<00:20:05.129> are<00:20:05.226> built<00:20:05.534> will<00:20:05.713> seem<00:20:06.102> somewhat<00:20:06.508> anachronistic<00:20:07.742> in<00:20:07.822> a<00:20:07.902> world<00:20:08.143> where<00:20:08.223> we<00:20:08.383> take<00:20:08.768> AI<00:20:09.024> for<00:20:09.184> granted,<00:20:09.601> but<00:20:09.745> that's<00:20:09.986> true<00:20:10.226> with<00:20:10.387> every<00:20:10.707> transition.

00:20:11.348 --> 00:20:15.547
And<00:20:11.508> we've<00:20:11.669> been<00:20:11.829> through<00:20:11.973> a<00:20:12.134> lot<00:20:12.454> of<00:20:12.550> transitions<00:20:13.111> in<00:20:13.191> the<00:20:13.272> industry,<00:20:14.217> even<00:20:14.393> in<00:20:14.474> my<00:20:15.179> lifetime.

00:20:15.836 --> 00:20:20.853
Let's<00:20:17.198> go<00:20:17.294> to<00:20:17.439> another<00:20:17.823> transition<00:20:18.416> or<00:20:18.545> debate<00:20:18.865> that's,<00:20:19.202> that's<00:20:19.426> happening<00:20:20.227> in<00:20:20.308> Silicon<00:20:20.644> Valley.

00:20:20.901 --> 00:20:26.382
And<00:20:21.029> that<00:20:21.189> is<00:20:21.349> like<00:20:21.510> this<00:20:21.750> work<00:20:21.942> from<00:20:22.151> home<00:20:22.487> hybrid,<00:20:23.128> everybody<00:20:23.513> in<00:20:23.593> the<00:20:23.754> office,<00:20:24.876> uh,<00:20:25.436> everybody<00:20:25.837> virtual.

00:20:27.119 --> 00:20:30.629
How<00:20:27.216> have<00:20:27.440> you<00:20:27.616> decided<00:20:28.722> to<00:20:28.898> handle<00:20:29.299> that<00:20:29.540> issue<00:20:29.940> within<00:20:30.261> Daffy?

00:20:32.008 --> 00:20:33.274
Well,<00:20:32.248> we<00:20:32.344> didn't<00:20:32.489> have<00:20:32.665> much<00:20:32.905> choice.

00:20:33.386 --> 00:20:36.255
It,<00:20:33.611> it<00:20:33.707> turns<00:20:34.011> out<00:20:34.107> Daffy<00:20:34.428> was<00:20:34.588> founded<00:20:35.069> in<00:20:35.149> the<00:20:35.229> midst<00:20:35.470> of<00:20:35.550> the<00:20:35.630> pandemic.

00:20:36.592 --> 00:20:37.313
Yeah.

00:20:37.474 --> 00:20:40.777
And<00:20:37.618> so<00:20:37.778> you're<00:20:37.955> either<00:20:38.083> going<00:20:38.195> to<00:20:38.275> build<00:20:38.516> the<00:20:38.580> company<00:20:38.901> remote<00:20:39.157> first<00:20:39.494> or<00:20:39.558> you<00:20:39.703> weren't<00:20:39.943> going<00:20:40.023> to<00:20:40.120> build<00:20:40.360> the<00:20:40.440> company.

00:20:41.948 --> 00:20:46.710
And<00:20:42.028> I<00:20:42.124> think<00:20:42.268> like<00:20:42.429> a<00:20:42.445> lot<00:20:42.621> of<00:20:42.749> people<00:20:42.974> have<00:20:43.070> seen<00:20:43.247> a<00:20:43.471> lot<00:20:43.792> of<00:20:44.048> real<00:20:44.449> benefits,<00:20:45.187> some<00:20:45.411> that<00:20:45.556> are<00:20:45.716> obvious,<00:20:46.598> right?

00:20:46.758 --> 00:20:56.171
You're<00:20:46.855> not<00:20:47.015> spending<00:20:47.352> as<00:20:47.496> much<00:20:47.737> money<00:20:48.763> on,<00:20:48.939> you<00:20:49.019> know,<00:20:49.180> real<00:20:49.404> estate<00:20:49.998> or<00:20:50.142> kind<00:20:50.447> of,<00:20:51.008> you<00:20:51.040> know,<00:20:51.264> in-office<00:20:51.826> perks,<00:20:53.333> you<00:20:53.365> know,<00:20:53.734> benefits<00:20:54.087> of<00:20:54.151> having<00:20:54.536> access<00:20:54.856> to<00:20:55.017> talent<00:20:55.754> anywhere.

00:20:57.021 --> 00:20:57.182
Right.

00:20:57.262 --> 00:21:03.131
I<00:20:57.294> mean,<00:20:57.454> Silicon<00:20:57.759> Valley<00:20:57.983> has<00:20:58.160> a<00:20:58.176> lot<00:20:58.336> of<00:20:58.464> talent,<00:20:58.881> but<00:20:59.042> it's<00:20:59.202> not<00:20:59.362> like<00:20:59.603> it<00:20:59.683> has<00:21:00.020> a<00:21:00.164> lock<00:21:01.110> on<00:21:01.191> every<00:21:01.447> brilliant<00:21:01.928> engineer<00:21:02.409> or<00:21:02.554> designer.

00:21:03.612 --> 00:21:04.365
Marketer<00:21:04.076> out<00:21:04.253> there.

00:21:04.493 --> 00:21:08.227
It's<00:21:04.894> phenomenal<00:21:05.438> to<00:21:05.535> be<00:21:05.695> able<00:21:05.855> to<00:21:06.576> tap<00:21:06.913> into<00:21:07.137> talent<00:21:07.457> and<00:21:07.602> find<00:21:07.938> people.

00:21:08.419 --> 00:21:16.431
I<00:21:08.483> mean,<00:21:08.563> this<00:21:08.675> is<00:21:08.755> the<00:21:08.884> passion<00:21:09.220> that<00:21:09.364> I<00:21:09.444> had<00:21:09.605> at<00:21:09.701> LinkedIn<00:21:10.101> was,<00:21:10.326> you<00:21:10.358> know,<00:21:11.447> LinkedIn<00:21:11.768> always<00:21:11.944> talks<00:21:12.120> about<00:21:12.345> connecting<00:21:12.825> talent<00:21:13.146> with<00:21:13.370> opportunity,<00:21:14.268> and<00:21:14.348> there's<00:21:14.524> no<00:21:14.668> question<00:21:14.957> that<00:21:15.069> remote<00:21:15.373> work<00:21:15.710> opens<00:21:16.014> that<00:21:16.174> up.

00:21:17.713 --> 00:21:19.491
And<00:21:17.777> there's<00:21:18.017> actually<00:21:18.274> some<00:21:18.434> subtle<00:21:18.834> benefits<00:21:19.299> to<00:21:19.411> it.

00:21:19.539 --> 00:21:30.211
I<00:21:19.636> think<00:21:19.796> culture<00:21:20.180> benefits,<00:21:20.741> you<00:21:20.773> know,<00:21:20.982> Daffy,<00:21:22.023> I'm<00:21:22.279> a<00:21:22.344> big<00:21:22.520> believer<00:21:22.920> in<00:21:23.065> writing<00:21:23.465> things<00:21:23.802> down,<00:21:24.186> expressing,<00:21:25.068> you<00:21:25.100> know,<00:21:25.757> not<00:21:26.510> actually<00:21:26.766> putting,<00:21:27.551> you<00:21:27.631> know,<00:21:28.192> whether<00:21:28.352> it's<00:21:28.449> pen<00:21:28.689> to<00:21:28.769> paper,<00:21:29.250> you<00:21:29.282> know,<00:21:29.474> typing<00:21:29.811> it<00:21:29.955> out.

00:21:30.676 --> 00:21:33.117
Using<00:21:31.014> documents<00:21:31.576> instead<00:21:31.913> of<00:21:32.041> presentations,<00:21:32.764> et<00:21:32.844> cetera.

00:21:33.165 --> 00:21:46.797
And<00:21:33.743> when<00:21:33.888> you<00:21:33.984> build<00:21:34.209> a<00:21:34.225> remote-first<00:21:34.851> company,<00:21:36.216> you<00:21:36.377> end<00:21:36.473> up<00:21:36.633> building<00:21:36.955> a<00:21:37.035> culture<00:21:37.436> that<00:21:37.902> really<00:21:38.159> forces<00:21:38.624> you<00:21:38.721> to<00:21:38.865> write<00:21:39.106> things<00:21:39.363> down,<00:21:39.909> you<00:21:40.471> know,<00:21:41.113> you<00:21:41.145> know,<00:21:41.450> which,<00:21:41.755> which<00:21:41.916> I<00:21:42.012> think<00:21:42.334> improves<00:21:42.960> the<00:21:43.120> quality<00:21:43.538> of<00:21:43.698> thinking<00:21:44.164> and<00:21:44.325> discussion<00:21:44.967> and<00:21:45.063> the<00:21:45.143> decision-making<00:21:46.267> that<00:21:46.412> happens.

00:21:47.873 --> 00:21:50.892
That<00:21:48.098> being<00:21:48.291> said,<00:21:48.596> there<00:21:48.836> are<00:21:48.917> some<00:21:49.222> real<00:21:49.463> benefits<00:21:49.960> to<00:21:50.121> being<00:21:50.362> in<00:21:50.522> person.

00:21:51.951 --> 00:22:05.264
I<00:21:52.048> do<00:21:52.208> think<00:21:52.433> that<00:21:52.529> for<00:21:52.690> people<00:21:53.091> early<00:21:53.397> career,<00:21:53.975> it's<00:21:54.215> very<00:21:54.456> hard<00:21:55.259> to<00:21:56.383> put<00:21:56.704> a<00:21:56.865> price<00:21:57.427> on<00:21:57.909> the<00:21:58.053> value<00:21:58.616> of<00:21:59.659> unplanned<00:22:00.462> interactions<00:22:02.390> with<00:22:02.502> senior<00:22:02.823> members<00:22:03.193> of<00:22:03.273> the<00:22:03.369> team,<00:22:03.771> with<00:22:04.076> other<00:22:04.237> folks<00:22:04.638> who've<00:22:04.734> been<00:22:04.879> around.

00:22:05.313 --> 00:22:25.019
I<00:22:05.377> mean,<00:22:05.698> I<00:22:05.859> think<00:22:06.003> about<00:22:06.180> my<00:22:06.517> early<00:22:06.662> days<00:22:07.449> at<00:22:07.609> companies<00:22:08.669> and<00:22:08.814> how<00:22:09.472> many<00:22:09.954> things<00:22:10.356> I<00:22:10.596> learned<00:22:11.239> from<00:22:11.480> people,<00:22:11.817> not<00:22:12.122> because<00:22:12.443> I<00:22:12.524> was<00:22:12.620> assigned<00:22:13.086> to<00:22:13.230> a<00:22:13.391> project<00:22:13.809> with<00:22:13.953> them,<00:22:14.772> but<00:22:14.917> because<00:22:15.238> I<00:22:15.334> saw<00:22:15.736> them,<00:22:16.121> you<00:22:16.202> know,<00:22:16.780> in<00:22:16.876> the<00:22:17.021> lunchroom,<00:22:17.647> you<00:22:17.743> know,<00:22:17.824> in<00:22:17.904> the<00:22:17.984> cafeteria,<00:22:18.868> or<00:22:18.948> I<00:22:19.028> saw<00:22:19.269> them<00:22:19.430> walking<00:22:19.751> down<00:22:19.911> the<00:22:19.992> hall<00:22:21.100> or<00:22:21.132> was<00:22:21.341> introduced<00:22:21.678> to<00:22:21.774> them<00:22:21.999> by<00:22:22.160> someone<00:22:22.545> else<00:22:22.947> kind<00:22:23.140> of<00:22:23.220> semi-randomly<00:22:24.007> for<00:22:24.151> social<00:22:24.553> reasons.

00:22:25.693 --> 00:22:30.345
And<00:22:25.901> so<00:22:25.933> it's<00:22:26.078> hard<00:22:26.254> for<00:22:26.350> me<00:22:26.415> to,<00:22:27.602> you<00:22:27.730> know,<00:22:27.794> like,<00:22:28.484> I<00:22:28.580> think<00:22:28.725> there<00:22:28.885> really<00:22:29.126> are<00:22:29.238> some<00:22:29.463> benefits<00:22:29.864> in<00:22:30.008> office.

00:22:30.489 --> 00:22:37.740
Also,<00:22:30.730> when<00:22:30.826> I'm<00:22:30.971> hashing<00:22:31.388> through<00:22:31.548> problems<00:22:32.094> on<00:22:32.190> product,<00:22:32.655> I<00:22:32.687> mean,<00:22:32.896> Alejandro<00:22:33.377> and<00:22:33.457> I<00:22:33.569> as<00:22:33.714> co-founders,<00:22:34.227> like,<00:22:34.355> we<00:22:34.500> still<00:22:34.901> hash<00:22:35.158> them<00:22:35.318> out<00:22:35.639> in<00:22:35.799> person<00:22:36.585> for<00:22:36.682> the<00:22:36.762> most<00:22:37.002> part,<00:22:37.644> right?

00:22:37.805 --> 00:22:46.339
We<00:22:38.190> somehow,<00:22:38.687> we<00:22:38.831> can<00:22:39.008> get<00:22:39.232> done,<00:22:40.195> you<00:22:40.227> know,<00:22:40.371> those,<00:22:40.612> those<00:22:40.853> difficult<00:22:41.334> decisions<00:22:41.799> of<00:22:41.976> what<00:22:42.280> is<00:22:42.393> the<00:22:42.537> MVP,<00:22:43.082> what<00:22:43.243> features<00:22:43.724> are<00:22:43.901> in<00:22:43.981> or<00:22:44.205> out,<00:22:44.382> how<00:22:44.623> is<00:22:44.767> the<00:22:44.847> thing<00:22:45.168> going<00:22:45.264> to<00:22:45.489> work<00:22:45.826> or<00:22:45.922> scale?

00:22:47.189 --> 00:22:58.347
Somehow<00:22:47.606> we<00:22:47.687> can<00:22:47.815> get<00:22:47.991> done<00:22:48.537> in<00:22:48.617> just<00:22:48.778> a<00:22:48.858> couple<00:22:49.098> hours<00:22:49.515> in<00:22:49.676> person<00:22:50.157> and<00:22:50.237> a<00:22:50.318> whiteboard,<00:22:51.104> things<00:22:51.424> that<00:22:51.858> seem<00:22:52.226> to<00:22:52.306> cycle,<00:22:53.989> take<00:22:54.309> longer<00:22:55.030> when<00:22:55.110> you're<00:22:55.207> going<00:22:55.447> back<00:22:55.703> and<00:22:55.847> forth<00:22:56.344> or<00:22:56.665> doing<00:22:56.953> Zoom<00:22:57.145> meetings,<00:22:57.690> et<00:22:58.091> cetera.

00:22:58.395 --> 00:23:03.555
And<00:22:58.572> so,<00:22:58.956> um,<00:22:59.837> like<00:23:00.014> anything,<00:23:00.238> I<00:23:00.334> think<00:23:00.478> there's<00:23:00.655> pros<00:23:00.975> and<00:23:01.119> cons,<00:23:01.600> but<00:23:01.696> for<00:23:01.856> Daffy,<00:23:02.241> we,<00:23:02.417> we're<00:23:02.561> kind<00:23:02.738> of<00:23:02.818> hybrid<00:23:03.154> at<00:23:03.218> this<00:23:03.379> point.

00:23:03.619 --> 00:23:08.987
We<00:23:03.699> have<00:23:03.859> a<00:23:03.875> number<00:23:04.164> of<00:23:04.244> people<00:23:04.500> who<00:23:04.580> come<00:23:04.821> into<00:23:05.061> headquarters<00:23:05.542> in<00:23:05.606> the<00:23:05.686> office,<00:23:06.647> um,<00:23:06.760> some<00:23:06.968> who<00:23:07.064> come<00:23:07.224> in<00:23:07.369> every<00:23:07.545> day,<00:23:07.801> sometimes<00:23:08.282> a<00:23:08.346> few<00:23:08.506> days<00:23:08.682> a<00:23:08.747> week.

00:23:09.612 --> 00:23:11.054
Um,<00:23:09.708> but<00:23:09.852> we<00:23:09.948> also<00:23:10.205> depend<00:23:10.573> on<00:23:10.605> the<00:23:10.750> talent.

00:23:11.134 --> 00:23:15.925
We<00:23:11.214> have<00:23:11.326> members<00:23:11.631> of<00:23:11.695> the<00:23:11.791> team,<00:23:12.977> um,<00:23:13.313> in<00:23:13.474> different<00:23:13.778> time<00:23:14.131> zones,<00:23:14.836> in<00:23:14.916> different<00:23:15.236> countries.

00:23:16.182 --> 00:23:24.580
Um,<00:23:16.983> and<00:23:17.095> it's<00:23:17.239> been<00:23:17.399> really<00:23:17.640> phenomenal<00:23:18.201> to<00:23:18.361> just<00:23:18.906> have<00:23:19.162> the<00:23:19.306> opportunity<00:23:19.723> to<00:23:19.883> work<00:23:20.124> with<00:23:20.284> talent<00:23:20.685> like<00:23:20.909> that<00:23:21.647> from<00:23:21.807> around<00:23:22.047> the<00:23:22.127> country<00:23:22.528> and<00:23:22.753> in<00:23:22.913> some<00:23:23.089> cases<00:23:24.035> other<00:23:24.211> countries.

00:23:25.958 --> 00:23:28.972
How<00:23:26.055> do<00:23:26.119> you<00:23:26.279> define<00:23:26.856> and<00:23:27.000> maintain<00:23:27.641> culture<00:23:28.218> given<00:23:28.475> all<00:23:28.683> of<00:23:28.779> that?

00:23:29.485 --> 00:23:34.037
Like,<00:23:29.805> how<00:23:29.901> do<00:23:29.982> you<00:23:30.078> maintain<00:23:31.007> and,<00:23:32.450> you<00:23:32.482> know,<00:23:33.027> your<00:23:33.187> values?

00:23:34.630 --> 00:23:41.651
And<00:23:35.015> honestly,<00:23:35.335> it'd<00:23:35.415> be<00:23:35.512> interesting<00:23:35.992> to<00:23:36.073> hear<00:23:36.233> what<00:23:36.457> Daffy's<00:23:36.794> values<00:23:37.195> are,<00:23:38.076> but<00:23:38.974> how<00:23:39.118> do<00:23:39.262> you<00:23:39.439> maintain<00:23:40.000> that<00:23:41.202> virtually?

00:23:43.125 --> 00:23:52.770
Well,<00:23:43.269> I<00:23:43.430> think,<00:23:43.606> listen,<00:23:44.552> everyone<00:23:44.808> knows<00:23:45.129> this<00:23:45.674> and<00:23:45.914> this<00:23:46.010> has<00:23:46.171> been<00:23:46.716> often<00:23:46.957> discussed,<00:23:47.358> but<00:23:47.455> culture<00:23:49.125> often<00:23:49.381> talked<00:23:49.638> about,<00:23:49.863> but<00:23:50.088> actions<00:23:50.538> speak<00:23:50.811> louder<00:23:51.051> than<00:23:51.148> words,<00:23:52.593> right?

00:23:52.818 --> 00:23:53.701
It's<00:23:53.316> behavior.

00:23:53.797 --> 00:23:59.273
And<00:23:53.958> I<00:23:54.038> think<00:23:54.183> there's<00:23:54.343> no<00:23:54.440> substitute<00:23:55.066> for<00:23:56.045> leadership<00:23:56.447> behavior,<00:23:57.748> for<00:23:57.956> how<00:23:58.277> teams<00:23:58.615> make<00:23:58.839> decisions.

00:23:59.321 --> 00:24:03.416
Like<00:23:59.418> people<00:23:59.803> watch,<00:24:00.365> they<00:24:00.477> see,<00:24:01.184> they<00:24:01.345> internalize,<00:24:02.452> you<00:24:02.485> know,<00:24:02.693> what's<00:24:02.950> rewarded.

00:24:04.460 --> 00:24:10.867
And<00:24:04.781> so<00:24:04.877> I<00:24:04.958> don't<00:24:05.102> think<00:24:05.198> that<00:24:05.423> changes<00:24:06.306> with<00:24:06.467> remote<00:24:06.724> first,<00:24:07.125> but<00:24:07.607> we<00:24:07.752> do<00:24:07.912> have<00:24:08.025> some<00:24:08.249> traditions<00:24:08.972> at<00:24:09.052> Daffy<00:24:09.373> that<00:24:09.518> I<00:24:09.534> think<00:24:09.711> have<00:24:09.871> turned<00:24:10.096> out<00:24:10.176> to<00:24:10.257> be<00:24:10.337> very<00:24:10.578> useful.

00:24:11.702 --> 00:24:14.143
So<00:24:11.862> for<00:24:12.087> example,<00:24:12.408> I<00:24:12.569> do<00:24:12.729> do<00:24:12.826> a<00:24:12.906> weekly<00:24:13.292> all<00:24:13.388> hands<00:24:13.709> with<00:24:13.854> everyone.

00:24:15.056 --> 00:24:20.937
I'm,<00:24:15.313> you<00:24:15.425> know,<00:24:15.553> most<00:24:15.809> of<00:24:15.858> the<00:24:15.954> team<00:24:16.498> here<00:24:16.659> at<00:24:16.739> Daffy<00:24:17.332> is<00:24:17.716> building<00:24:18.021> the<00:24:18.117> product,<00:24:18.822> is<00:24:18.982> building<00:24:19.238> the<00:24:19.318> platform,<00:24:19.943> working<00:24:20.264> on<00:24:20.360> new<00:24:20.520> things.

00:24:21.866 --> 00:24:24.798
It<00:24:21.946> just<00:24:22.106> turns<00:24:22.266> out<00:24:22.363> my<00:24:22.667> role<00:24:23.468> is<00:24:23.564> a<00:24:23.644> little<00:24:23.789> bit<00:24:23.885> more<00:24:24.109> outward<00:24:24.429> facing.

00:24:24.846 --> 00:24:29.412
And<00:24:24.942> so<00:24:25.070> I<00:24:25.247> very<00:24:25.471> often<00:24:25.727> every<00:24:25.888> week<00:24:26.048> I<00:24:26.128> talk<00:24:26.384> about<00:24:26.689> where<00:24:26.929> the<00:24:27.073> company<00:24:27.490> is<00:24:27.810> and<00:24:28.211> how<00:24:28.371> I'm<00:24:28.595> thinking<00:24:28.932> about<00:24:29.236> it.

00:24:30.358 --> 00:24:42.759
And<00:24:30.438> that<00:24:30.678> echoes<00:24:30.935> back<00:24:31.239> to<00:24:31.431> a<00:24:31.495> process<00:24:31.960> we<00:24:32.056> put<00:24:32.232> in<00:24:32.296> place<00:24:32.617> that<00:24:32.761> I'm<00:24:32.873> a<00:24:32.937> big<00:24:33.162> believer<00:24:33.482> in<00:24:33.562> as<00:24:33.722> a<00:24:33.819> leader,<00:24:34.540> which<00:24:34.700> is<00:24:34.844> every<00:24:35.036> 6<00:24:35.405> months<00:24:36.526> I<00:24:36.687> write<00:24:36.927> a<00:24:37.023> document<00:24:37.584> for<00:24:37.888> the<00:24:37.968> whole<00:24:38.209> company<00:24:39.026> that<00:24:39.122> explains<00:24:39.987> where<00:24:40.147> we<00:24:40.372> are,<00:24:40.692> what<00:24:40.788> we've<00:24:41.093> learned,<00:24:41.493> what<00:24:41.573> our<00:24:41.670> strategy<00:24:42.535> is.

00:24:43.276 --> 00:24:45.206
And<00:24:43.341> what<00:24:43.505> that<00:24:43.619> means<00:24:44.094> for<00:24:44.192> the<00:24:44.274> next<00:24:44.503> 12<00:24:44.895> months.

00:24:47.036 --> 00:24:48.912
And<00:24:47.101> we<00:24:47.198> actually<00:24:47.408> have<00:24:47.586> an<00:24:47.748> offsite<00:24:48.330> with<00:24:48.475> the<00:24:48.556> whole<00:24:48.734> team.

00:24:48.977 --> 00:24:58.734
We<00:24:49.057> get<00:24:49.219> together<00:24:49.526> all<00:24:49.623> in<00:24:49.785> person<00:24:50.109> at<00:24:50.254> least<00:24:50.497> twice<00:24:50.852> a<00:24:50.982> year<00:24:51.629> where<00:24:51.726> we<00:24:51.871> all<00:24:52.033> review<00:24:52.453> that<00:24:52.615> strategy<00:24:53.116> and<00:24:53.262> talk<00:24:53.569> about<00:24:53.893> it<00:24:54.232> and<00:24:54.378> what<00:24:54.475> it<00:24:54.572> means<00:24:54.960> for<00:24:55.057> our<00:24:55.202> roadmap,<00:24:55.688> what<00:24:55.785> it<00:24:55.914> means<00:24:56.060> for<00:24:56.173> prioritization,<00:24:56.886> what<00:24:56.983> it<00:24:57.145> means<00:24:57.534> for<00:24:57.615> the<00:24:57.696> features<00:24:58.183> we're<00:24:58.361> building.

00:24:59.576 --> 00:25:07.186
And<00:24:59.657> so<00:24:59.803> I<00:24:59.900> think<00:25:00.062> there's<00:25:00.224> a<00:25:00.387> lot<00:25:00.694> you<00:25:00.776> have<00:25:00.970> to—<00:25:01.748> on<00:25:01.910> culture<00:25:02.315> that<00:25:02.477> actually<00:25:02.672> depends<00:25:03.061> on<00:25:03.223> communication<00:25:04.259> and<00:25:04.421> framing<00:25:05.876> and<00:25:06.604> then<00:25:06.765> behavior.

00:25:07.574 --> 00:25:13.869
Another<00:25:08.156> tradition<00:25:08.479> we<00:25:08.560> have<00:25:08.819> is<00:25:08.948> that<00:25:09.110> every<00:25:09.288> Friday<00:25:10.086> morning,<00:25:10.406> we<00:25:10.486> have<00:25:10.647> a<00:25:10.679> Zoom<00:25:10.967> with<00:25:11.128> everyone<00:25:11.528> on<00:25:11.625> it<00:25:12.250> where<00:25:12.346> people<00:25:12.650> share<00:25:12.907> what<00:25:13.051> they<00:25:13.211> worked<00:25:13.452> on<00:25:13.548> this<00:25:13.708> week.

00:25:14.494 --> 00:25:18.645
Developers,<00:25:15.311> the<00:25:15.456> code<00:25:15.888> designers,<00:25:16.658> the<00:25:16.754> design<00:25:17.235> marketers,<00:25:17.780> what<00:25:17.940> they're<00:25:18.036> working<00:25:18.421> on.

00:25:19.383 --> 00:25:36.839
And<00:25:19.623> it's<00:25:19.784> a<00:25:19.864> wonderful<00:25:20.184> way<00:25:20.280> to<00:25:20.425> touch<00:25:20.681> base<00:25:21.226> and<00:25:21.274> softly<00:25:21.643> get<00:25:21.803> together<00:25:22.204> and<00:25:22.284> actually<00:25:22.685> reward<00:25:23.486> the<00:25:23.647> behaviors<00:25:24.288> that<00:25:24.432> you<00:25:24.528> want<00:25:24.657> to<00:25:24.753> reward,<00:25:25.250> which<00:25:25.554> is<00:25:26.195> sharing<00:25:26.853> the<00:25:26.949> information<00:25:27.879> about<00:25:28.119> what<00:25:28.231> you're<00:25:28.440> working<00:25:28.760> on,<00:25:28.856> where<00:25:29.001> you're<00:25:29.161> running<00:25:29.417> into<00:25:29.642> trouble,<00:25:30.219> things<00:25:30.443> that<00:25:30.523> you're<00:25:30.684> excited<00:25:31.100> about,<00:25:31.902> and<00:25:31.982> allowing<00:25:32.447> some<00:25:32.607> of<00:25:32.639> those<00:25:32.880> impromptu<00:25:34.611> kind<00:25:34.803> of<00:25:34.867> conversations<00:25:35.733> and<00:25:35.829> connections<00:25:36.390> to<00:25:36.470> happen.

00:25:37.753 --> 00:25:40.093
But,<00:25:38.458> you<00:25:38.490> know,<00:25:38.570> in<00:25:38.650> general,<00:25:38.939> I<00:25:38.955> don't<00:25:39.115> think<00:25:39.211> it's<00:25:39.292> a<00:25:39.356> solved<00:25:39.676> problem.

00:25:40.959 --> 00:25:43.363
I<00:25:41.199> think<00:25:41.359> that<00:25:41.456> culture<00:25:41.760> is<00:25:41.824> something<00:25:42.049> that<00:25:42.145> you<00:25:42.321> build<00:25:42.706> over<00:25:42.962> time.

00:25:44.245 --> 00:25:53.702
And<00:25:44.389> like<00:25:44.565> I<00:25:44.581> said,<00:25:45.190> I,<00:25:45.751> you<00:25:45.832> know,<00:25:46.008> in<00:25:46.168> general,<00:25:46.970> these<00:25:47.194> decisions<00:25:47.691> come<00:25:47.915> up<00:25:48.252> and<00:25:48.396> as<00:25:48.492> a<00:25:48.637> leader,<00:25:49.534> you<00:25:49.855> know,<00:25:50.079> you're<00:25:50.175> faced<00:25:50.400> with<00:25:50.576> dozens<00:25:50.961> of<00:25:51.041> decisions<00:25:51.682> every<00:25:51.939> day,<00:25:52.323> every<00:25:52.580> week,<00:25:52.965> every<00:25:53.237> month.

00:25:54.327 --> 00:26:02.037
But<00:25:54.423> a<00:25:54.584> lot<00:25:54.904> of<00:25:55.048> culture<00:25:55.690> is<00:25:55.930> based<00:25:56.251> on<00:25:56.491> how<00:25:56.731> those<00:25:56.908> decisions<00:25:57.533> actually<00:25:57.950> get<00:25:58.190> made<00:25:59.617> and<00:25:59.713> how<00:25:59.873> the<00:26:00.017> team<00:26:00.210> internalizes,<00:26:01.717> right?

00:26:02.117 --> 00:26:07.221
You<00:26:02.213> know<00:26:02.438> what<00:26:02.662> the<00:26:02.758> priorities<00:26:03.303> are<00:26:03.720> and<00:26:04.025> what,<00:26:04.667> what<00:26:04.779> acceptable<00:26:05.486> behavior<00:26:06.113> is<00:26:06.755> at<00:26:06.852> the<00:26:06.932> company.

00:26:07.270 --> 00:26:39.745
Kind<00:26:09.487> of<00:26:09.728> along<00:26:09.985> those<00:26:10.226> same<00:26:10.467> lines,<00:26:11.415> it<00:26:11.608> seems<00:26:11.945> to<00:26:11.993> me<00:26:12.234> like<00:26:12.861> all<00:26:12.957> the<00:26:13.038> CEOs<00:26:13.664> and<00:26:13.761> leaders<00:26:14.066> that<00:26:14.227> I<00:26:14.387> talk<00:26:14.709> to<00:26:15.625> say,<00:26:16.235> wow,<00:26:16.798> it's<00:26:17.135> fascinating<00:26:17.762> how<00:26:18.244> often<00:26:18.485> I<00:26:18.645> have<00:26:18.886> to<00:26:19.481> think<00:26:19.866> about<00:26:20.268> or<00:26:20.429> even<00:26:20.750> comment<00:26:21.457> on<00:26:21.795> things<00:26:22.036> that<00:26:22.164> have<00:26:22.277> nothing<00:26:22.550> to<00:26:22.598> do<00:26:22.662> with<00:26:22.775> my<00:26:22.984> company<00:26:23.241> but<00:26:23.401> are<00:26:23.482> happening<00:26:23.819> in<00:26:23.948> the<00:26:24.108> world,<00:26:24.430> like<00:26:24.590> the<00:26:24.671> macroeconomic<00:26:26.599> world,<00:26:27.257> the,<00:26:27.804> you<00:26:27.836> know,<00:26:28.141> if<00:26:28.302> there's<00:26:28.527> a<00:26:28.768> war<00:26:29.105> in<00:26:29.266> Ukraine,<00:26:29.764> all<00:26:29.812> of<00:26:29.909> a<00:26:29.925> sudden<00:26:30.150> that's<00:26:30.375> going<00:26:30.471> to,<00:26:30.712> Like<00:26:30.953> these<00:26:31.193> types<00:26:31.498> of<00:26:31.578> things<00:26:31.835> where<00:26:31.995> it<00:26:32.092> seems<00:26:32.381> like<00:26:32.621> 20<00:26:32.942> years<00:26:33.215> ago<00:26:34.065> you<00:26:34.226> could<00:26:34.386> really<00:26:34.627> just<00:26:34.803> kind<00:26:34.948> of<00:26:35.028> focus<00:26:35.365> on<00:26:35.509> leading<00:26:35.750> your<00:26:35.846> company<00:26:36.248> and<00:26:36.408> you<00:26:36.488> didn't<00:26:36.697> have<00:26:36.954> to<00:26:37.595> kind<00:26:37.692> of<00:26:37.836> weigh<00:26:38.157> in<00:26:38.317> on<00:26:38.895> these<00:26:39.120> types<00:26:39.392> of<00:26:39.457> things.

00:26:40.082 --> 00:26:44.848
How<00:26:40.179> do<00:26:40.403> you<00:26:40.516> think<00:26:40.837> about<00:26:41.462> your<00:26:41.767> role<00:26:42.184> there<00:26:42.810> in<00:26:42.987> things<00:26:43.291> that<00:26:43.372> are<00:26:43.452> happening<00:26:43.853> outside<00:26:44.350> the<00:26:44.511> company?

00:26:45.698 --> 00:26:54.218
And<00:26:46.356> how<00:26:46.533> do<00:26:46.581> you<00:26:46.741> think<00:26:46.918> just<00:26:47.078> generally<00:26:47.479> about<00:26:47.784> the<00:26:47.945> current<00:26:48.362> macroeconomic<00:26:49.389> environment<00:26:50.111> and<00:26:51.074> what<00:26:51.330> we're<00:26:51.651> in<00:26:51.812> for<00:26:52.036> for<00:26:52.197> this<00:26:52.373> year?

00:26:54.604 --> 00:26:57.909
And<00:26:54.700> then<00:26:55.422> the<00:26:55.566> question<00:26:55.903> about<00:26:56.064> the<00:26:56.208> macro<00:26:56.946> comes<00:26:57.267> in<00:26:57.347> afterward.

00:26:58.150 --> 00:26:58.631
It's<00:26:58.454> good.

00:26:58.775 --> 00:26:59.128
I<00:26:58.791> like<00:26:59.032> that.

00:26:59.337 --> 00:26:59.786
I<00:26:59.353> like<00:26:59.738> that.

00:26:59.834 --> 00:27:01.150
Why<00:26:59.979> are<00:27:00.091> CEOs<00:27:00.540> asked<00:27:00.701> all<00:27:00.781> these<00:27:00.829> questions?

00:27:01.198 --> 00:27:02.177
And<00:27:01.278> by<00:27:01.439> the<00:27:01.519> way,<00:27:01.664> here's<00:27:01.840> a<00:27:01.904> question.

00:27:02.546 --> 00:27:03.428
I<00:27:02.802> like<00:27:03.347> it.

00:27:03.508 --> 00:27:04.053
It's<00:27:03.828> good.

00:27:04.165 --> 00:27:04.934
It's<00:27:04.726> good.

00:27:05.191 --> 00:27:05.527
I<00:27:05.207> like<00:27:05.367> it.

00:27:06.730 --> 00:27:17.566
But<00:27:06.874> no,<00:27:07.772> you<00:27:07.852> know,<00:27:09.279> in<00:27:09.375> the<00:27:09.535> end,<00:27:10.337> I<00:27:10.417> think<00:27:10.593> it's<00:27:10.721> a<00:27:10.737> mistake<00:27:11.122> for<00:27:11.363> leaders<00:27:11.699> to<00:27:11.924> ever<00:27:12.164> forget<00:27:13.927> that<00:27:14.585> companies,<00:27:16.332> the<00:27:16.428> value<00:27:16.749> is<00:27:16.781> sourced<00:27:17.117> from<00:27:17.230> the<00:27:17.310> people.

00:27:18.191 --> 00:27:24.139
And<00:27:18.272> I<00:27:18.352> know<00:27:18.496> that's<00:27:18.672> a<00:27:18.752> little<00:27:18.929> bit<00:27:19.089> of<00:27:19.538> a<00:27:19.554> truism<00:27:20.275> and<00:27:20.820> it<00:27:20.852> might<00:27:21.077> seem<00:27:22.023> obvious,<00:27:23.161> but<00:27:23.305> it's<00:27:23.465> very<00:27:23.642> easy<00:27:23.802> to<00:27:23.882> forget.

00:27:24.203 --> 00:27:33.789
You<00:27:24.684> look<00:27:24.860> at<00:27:24.940> an,<00:27:25.100> if<00:27:25.229> you<00:27:25.325> look<00:27:25.485> at<00:27:25.581> a<00:27:25.646> company<00:27:25.966> enough<00:27:26.207> financially,<00:27:26.832> you<00:27:26.992> look<00:27:27.104> at<00:27:27.569> the<00:27:27.649> spreadsheets<00:27:28.515> and<00:27:28.595> the<00:27:28.675> numbers<00:27:29.172> and<00:27:29.236> the<00:27:29.332> margins,<00:27:29.829> et<00:27:29.894> cetera,<00:27:30.198> you<00:27:30.230> start<00:27:30.695> thinking<00:27:31.080> that<00:27:31.176> the<00:27:31.320> company<00:27:31.817> is<00:27:31.977> somehow<00:27:32.362> an<00:27:32.539> outcome<00:27:32.939> of<00:27:33.084> those<00:27:33.340> numbers.

00:27:34.382 --> 00:27:34.704
Right?

00:27:35.571 --> 00:27:38.670
Venture<00:27:35.812> capitalists,<00:27:36.630> founders<00:27:36.935> will<00:27:37.032> talk<00:27:37.208> about<00:27:37.353> strategy<00:27:38.075> or<00:27:38.156> technology.

00:27:38.718 --> 00:27:40.661
I<00:27:38.782> thought<00:27:38.943> we<00:27:39.023> were<00:27:39.103> talking<00:27:39.264> about<00:27:39.505> AI<00:27:39.938> earlier,<00:27:40.388> right?

00:27:40.789 --> 00:27:43.101
It's<00:27:40.901> easy<00:27:41.062> to<00:27:41.190> think<00:27:41.447> that<00:27:41.592> that's<00:27:41.929> where<00:27:42.074> the<00:27:42.170> value<00:27:42.475> gets<00:27:42.716> created.

00:27:44.418 --> 00:27:46.136
But<00:27:44.562> no,<00:27:45.044> it's<00:27:45.221> actually<00:27:45.462> the<00:27:45.542> people<00:27:45.863> on<00:27:45.895> the<00:27:45.943> team.

00:27:46.248 --> 00:27:53.313
And<00:27:46.409> I<00:27:46.505> think<00:27:46.666> the<00:27:46.826> reason<00:27:47.131> a<00:27:47.147> lot<00:27:47.388> of<00:27:47.549> leaders<00:27:48.095> and<00:27:48.175> a<00:27:48.191> lot<00:27:48.336> of<00:27:48.368> CEOs<00:27:48.737> got<00:27:48.914> pulled<00:27:49.379> into<00:27:49.572> these<00:27:49.877> issues<00:27:51.627> is<00:27:51.788> really<00:27:52.189> two<00:27:52.446> trends<00:27:52.912> that<00:27:53.008> happened.

00:27:53.393 --> 00:28:02.256
One<00:27:53.634> is<00:27:53.747> social<00:27:54.212> media<00:27:55.481> opened<00:27:55.802> up<00:27:55.979> this<00:27:56.203> role<00:27:56.444> of<00:27:56.605> people<00:27:56.878> seeing<00:27:57.488> executives,<00:27:58.098> seeing<00:27:58.628> leaders<00:28:00.474> in<00:28:00.554> their<00:28:00.715> personal<00:28:01.116> lives,<00:28:02.160> right?

00:28:02.320 --> 00:28:04.214
I<00:28:02.336> mean,<00:28:02.545> Hollywood<00:28:02.882> celebrities<00:28:03.348> were<00:28:03.428> used<00:28:03.540> to<00:28:03.604> this<00:28:03.765> a<00:28:03.781> long<00:28:04.006> time.

00:28:04.263 --> 00:28:09.030
If<00:28:04.391> you<00:28:04.471> had<00:28:04.632> a,<00:28:04.808> a<00:28:04.889> job<00:28:05.274> in<00:28:05.370> the<00:28:05.450> media,<00:28:05.836> you<00:28:05.916> might<00:28:06.076> get<00:28:06.237> used<00:28:06.494> to<00:28:07.072> some<00:28:07.313> of<00:28:07.441> your<00:28:07.537> personal<00:28:07.971> life<00:28:08.179> getting<00:28:08.436> exposed.

00:28:09.094 --> 00:28:10.892
But<00:28:09.207> for<00:28:09.287> the<00:28:09.367> first<00:28:09.624> time,<00:28:09.849> you<00:28:09.945> started<00:28:10.250> seeing<00:28:10.732> it.

00:28:11.053 --> 00:28:13.685
These<00:28:11.229> questions<00:28:11.631> came<00:28:11.871> up<00:28:12.096> like,<00:28:12.273> who,<00:28:12.754> who<00:28:12.915> is<00:28:13.075> this<00:28:13.236> person?

00:28:13.798 --> 00:28:15.355
And,<00:28:13.942> and,<00:28:14.119> and<00:28:14.279> more<00:28:14.440> information<00:28:14.905> was<00:28:15.066> out<00:28:15.226> there.

00:28:16.286 --> 00:28:24.248
And<00:28:16.366> then<00:28:16.527> second,<00:28:17.313> you<00:28:17.409> saw<00:28:17.731> this,<00:28:17.971> I<00:28:18.052> think<00:28:18.196> you<00:28:18.228> saw<00:28:18.357> an<00:28:18.469> increasing<00:28:18.999> trend<00:28:19.496> in<00:28:19.641> the<00:28:19.673> last<00:28:19.898> 10<00:28:20.074> to<00:28:20.203> 15<00:28:20.540> years<00:28:21.583> where<00:28:21.760> the<00:28:21.888> economy<00:28:22.466> was<00:28:22.707> good<00:28:22.931> enough,<00:28:23.895> right?

00:28:24.376 --> 00:28:27.715
And<00:28:24.617> there's<00:28:24.777> a<00:28:24.874> huge<00:28:25.275> competition<00:28:25.837> for<00:28:25.981> talent,<00:28:26.640> especially<00:28:27.057> in<00:28:27.201> technology.

00:28:27.763 --> 00:28:30.059
There's<00:28:27.988> always<00:28:28.245> a<00:28:28.325> huge<00:28:28.502> competition<00:28:28.983> for<00:28:29.112> talent,<00:28:29.513> almost<00:28:29.834> always.

00:28:30.733 --> 00:28:37.761
And<00:28:30.813> so<00:28:30.893> people<00:28:31.102> had<00:28:31.230> a<00:28:31.278> lot<00:28:31.359> of<00:28:31.455> choices<00:28:32.016> about<00:28:32.257> where<00:28:32.418> they<00:28:32.562> wanted<00:28:32.819> to<00:28:32.899> work,<00:28:33.204> and<00:28:33.284> they<00:28:33.444> wanted<00:28:33.637> to<00:28:33.701> work<00:28:33.942> at<00:28:34.022> places<00:28:34.423> where<00:28:34.520> they<00:28:34.664> believe<00:28:35.081> in<00:28:35.145> the<00:28:35.226> leadership,<00:28:35.787> they<00:28:35.948> believe<00:28:36.269> in<00:28:36.349> what<00:28:36.509> they're<00:28:36.670> building<00:28:37.055> and<00:28:37.135> what<00:28:37.295> they're<00:28:37.392> doing.

00:28:38.274 --> 00:28:42.815
And<00:28:38.354> that<00:28:38.451> can<00:28:38.659> easily<00:28:38.916> cross<00:28:39.381> over<00:28:39.943> into<00:28:40.360> who<00:28:40.537> the<00:28:40.745> leader<00:28:41.066> is<00:28:41.323> and,<00:28:41.564> and<00:28:41.708> how<00:28:41.804> they<00:28:41.965> think<00:28:42.141> about<00:28:42.382> different<00:28:42.623> issues.

00:28:43.714 --> 00:28:45.784
Now,<00:28:43.826> like<00:28:44.035> everything,<00:28:44.356> that<00:28:44.468> can<00:28:44.612> go<00:28:44.853> too<00:28:45.078> far,<00:28:45.655> right?

00:28:45.832 --> 00:28:57.657
Like<00:28:45.976> you're<00:28:46.121> asking,<00:28:46.393> like,<00:28:46.939> there's<00:28:47.083> a<00:28:47.180> lot<00:28:47.501> of<00:28:47.661> very<00:28:47.982> important<00:28:49.346> international<00:28:50.148> political<00:28:50.774> economic<00:28:51.416> issues<00:28:51.897> where<00:28:52.459> sure,<00:28:52.940> lots<00:28:53.133> of<00:28:53.197> people<00:28:53.502> have<00:28:53.598> opinions<00:28:54.095> and,<00:28:54.320> and<00:28:54.400> sort<00:28:54.561> of<00:28:54.625> the<00:28:54.721> executives,<00:28:55.989> um,<00:28:56.550> at<00:28:56.631> companies<00:28:57.048> and<00:28:57.272> leaders.

00:28:57.914 --> 00:29:05.885
Um,<00:28:58.380> But<00:28:58.460> that<00:28:58.572> may<00:28:58.668> not<00:28:58.893> be<00:28:59.037> the<00:28:59.069> most<00:28:59.310> important<00:28:59.695> thing<00:28:59.791> or<00:28:59.855> most<00:29:00.160> relevant<00:29:00.657> thing<00:29:01.539> for<00:29:01.683> actually<00:29:02.084> what<00:29:02.277> the<00:29:02.421> team<00:29:02.726> and<00:29:02.822> what<00:29:02.966> the<00:29:03.062> company<00:29:03.367> is<00:29:03.528> trying<00:29:03.784> to<00:29:03.928> build<00:29:04.169> right<00:29:04.426> now,<00:29:04.666> or<00:29:04.810> what<00:29:04.971> success<00:29:05.452> looks<00:29:05.693> like.

00:29:05.933 --> 00:29:08.275
And<00:29:06.013> sometimes<00:29:06.446> it<00:29:06.510> can<00:29:06.655> distract<00:29:07.168> you<00:29:07.777> from<00:29:07.954> that.

00:29:09.012 --> 00:29:11.803
So<00:29:09.141> I<00:29:09.237> think<00:29:09.381> a<00:29:09.397> lot<00:29:09.622> of<00:29:09.654> leaders<00:29:09.958> and<00:29:10.055> CEOs<00:29:10.504> are,<00:29:10.760> are<00:29:10.841> struggling<00:29:11.322> with<00:29:11.482> that.

00:29:11.867 --> 00:29:16.566
I<00:29:11.899> mean,<00:29:12.027> I,<00:29:12.300> I,<00:29:12.460> I<00:29:12.524> think,<00:29:12.749> you<00:29:12.829> know,<00:29:12.925> personally,<00:29:13.342> I<00:29:13.390> always<00:29:13.599> struggle<00:29:13.968> with<00:29:14.433> how<00:29:14.529> much<00:29:14.786> information<00:29:15.572> personally<00:29:15.973> to<00:29:16.117> put<00:29:16.277> out<00:29:16.454> there.

00:29:16.614 --> 00:29:17.304
What's<00:29:16.855> too<00:29:16.951> much?

00:29:18.057 --> 00:29:19.805
You<00:29:18.154> know,<00:29:18.378> when<00:29:18.522> am<00:29:18.603> I<00:29:18.635> speaking<00:29:19.180> for<00:29:19.276> myself?

00:29:19.902 --> 00:29:21.345
When<00:29:20.046> am<00:29:20.142> I<00:29:20.222> speaking<00:29:20.688> for<00:29:20.864> the<00:29:20.944> company?

00:29:21.425 --> 00:29:26.268
And,<00:29:21.746> and<00:29:21.826> so<00:29:21.970> I<00:29:21.987> think<00:29:22.211> everyone's<00:29:22.532> been<00:29:22.612> navigating<00:29:23.125> that<00:29:23.414> the<00:29:23.494> last<00:29:24.120> certainly<00:29:24.392> the<00:29:24.472> last<00:29:24.713> 5<00:29:24.937> to<00:29:25.017> 7<00:29:25.338> years,<00:29:25.531> if<00:29:25.659> not<00:29:25.835> longer.

00:29:27.198 --> 00:29:31.368
But<00:29:27.359> from<00:29:27.519> my<00:29:27.679> point<00:29:27.904> of<00:29:27.984> view,<00:29:28.241> I,<00:29:28.401> I<00:29:28.561> think<00:29:28.722> there's<00:29:28.882> an<00:29:29.107> authenticity<00:29:30.245> to,<00:29:30.486> to<00:29:30.646> being<00:29:30.871> who<00:29:31.031> you<00:29:31.191> are.

00:29:31.448 --> 00:29:44.292
And<00:29:32.490> there's<00:29:32.667> a<00:29:32.811> balance<00:29:33.212> to<00:29:33.372> building<00:29:33.677> out<00:29:33.757> a<00:29:33.773> culture<00:29:34.110> where<00:29:34.238> you<00:29:34.398> give<00:29:35.072> people<00:29:35.457> the<00:29:35.617> comfort<00:29:36.178> to<00:29:36.275> know<00:29:36.740> that<00:29:37.140> they<00:29:37.622> can<00:29:38.038> express<00:29:38.584> themselves<00:29:39.530> and<00:29:39.626> they<00:29:39.931> also<00:29:40.187> can<00:29:40.588> be<00:29:40.893> who<00:29:41.069> they<00:29:41.230> are<00:29:42.176> and<00:29:42.593> who<00:29:42.737> they<00:29:42.833> need<00:29:42.994> to<00:29:43.074> be<00:29:43.234> to<00:29:43.378> do<00:29:43.555> their<00:29:43.715> best<00:29:43.956> work.

00:29:45.239 --> 00:29:51.172
But<00:29:45.463> also<00:29:45.800> the,<00:29:46.024> the<00:29:46.185> clarity<00:29:46.602> of<00:29:46.634> saying,<00:29:47.067> you<00:29:47.243> know,<00:29:47.548> when<00:29:47.644> you're<00:29:47.804> working,<00:29:48.189> when<00:29:48.301> you're,<00:29:48.670> you're<00:29:48.831> working<00:29:49.007> for<00:29:49.151> a<00:29:49.167> company,<00:29:49.568> like<00:29:49.729> there's<00:29:49.953> a<00:29:49.985> focus<00:29:50.611> there,<00:29:51.060> right?

00:29:51.236 --> 00:29:54.305
What's<00:29:51.493> relevant<00:29:52.040> and<00:29:52.088> not<00:29:52.377> relevant<00:29:52.795> for<00:29:52.923> the<00:29:53.020> company,<00:29:53.984> right?

00:29:54.691 --> 00:30:06.485
You<00:29:54.723> know,<00:29:54.868> diverse<00:29:55.269> teams<00:29:55.671> of<00:29:55.751> people<00:29:56.073> from<00:29:56.314> different<00:29:56.635> backgrounds<00:29:57.278> and<00:29:57.358> different<00:29:57.680> beliefs<00:29:58.563> can<00:29:59.029> come<00:29:59.286> together<00:29:59.833> and<00:29:59.993> build<00:30:00.267> amazing<00:30:00.733> things<00:30:00.990> together<00:30:02.163> if<00:30:02.323> they<00:30:02.420> focus<00:30:02.966> on<00:30:03.062> the<00:30:03.207> problem,<00:30:03.705> if<00:30:03.850> they<00:30:03.946> focus<00:30:04.492> on<00:30:04.573> the<00:30:04.669> product,<00:30:05.087> if<00:30:05.151> they<00:30:05.232> focus<00:30:05.778> on<00:30:05.858> the<00:30:05.939> customer.

00:30:07.160 --> 00:30:16.061
And<00:30:07.304> I<00:30:07.385> think<00:30:07.561> that<00:30:07.947> leaders<00:30:08.526> do<00:30:08.767> have<00:30:09.008> a<00:30:09.072> responsibility<00:30:09.859> to<00:30:09.956> remind<00:30:10.373> people<00:30:11.321> of<00:30:11.418> that<00:30:11.643> reality<00:30:12.848> and<00:30:13.651> actually<00:30:13.989> pattern<00:30:14.390> that<00:30:14.615> behavior<00:30:15.033> themselves,<00:30:15.901> right?

00:30:16.158 --> 00:30:26.690
You<00:30:16.238> know,<00:30:16.383> you<00:30:16.479> can't,<00:30:17.010> you<00:30:17.106> can't<00:30:17.346> be<00:30:17.442> a<00:30:17.587> leader<00:30:17.923> talking<00:30:18.308> about<00:30:18.564> what<00:30:18.708> you're<00:30:18.805> doing<00:30:19.029> on<00:30:19.125> the<00:30:19.205> weekend<00:30:19.606> or<00:30:19.750> your<00:30:19.846> opinion<00:30:20.311> about,<00:30:20.728> you<00:30:20.760> know,<00:30:20.888> the<00:30:20.968> latest<00:30:21.353> movie<00:30:21.593> that<00:30:21.754> came<00:30:21.994> up<00:30:22.635> and<00:30:22.715> then<00:30:22.876> somehow<00:30:23.276> think<00:30:23.469> it's<00:30:23.693> frivolous<00:30:24.158> if<00:30:24.318> your<00:30:24.495> employees<00:30:24.975> do<00:30:25.136> the,<00:30:25.456> the<00:30:25.552> same<00:30:25.921> thing,<00:30:26.642> right?

00:30:26.738 --> 00:30:28.357
That<00:30:26.851> doesn't,<00:30:27.059> that,<00:30:27.299> that's<00:30:27.540> just<00:30:27.764> hypocrisy.

00:30:28.501 --> 00:30:29.704
That<00:30:28.694> doesn't<00:30:28.934> make<00:30:29.062> a<00:30:29.127> lot<00:30:29.223> of<00:30:29.255> sense.

00:30:30.585 --> 00:30:37.076
But<00:30:30.665> it<00:30:30.745> also<00:30:31.066> can<00:30:31.210> be<00:30:31.242> very<00:30:31.467> clear<00:30:31.787> that<00:30:31.867> sometimes,<00:30:32.653> you<00:30:32.685> know,<00:30:32.845> that<00:30:32.989> when<00:30:33.069> you're<00:30:33.214> working<00:30:33.470> for<00:30:33.614> a<00:30:33.694> company,<00:30:34.015> a<00:30:34.191> platform,<00:30:34.832> that<00:30:34.977> you<00:30:35.057> have<00:30:35.249> to,<00:30:36.179> you<00:30:36.243> have<00:30:36.355> to<00:30:36.435> be<00:30:36.580> careful.

00:30:37.541 --> 00:30:41.035
You<00:30:37.717> are<00:30:37.878> representing<00:30:38.423> the<00:30:38.519> company<00:30:38.904> in<00:30:39.000> some<00:30:39.240> way<00:30:39.481> and,<00:30:39.641> and<00:30:39.785> there's<00:30:39.961> a<00:30:40.026> little<00:30:40.202> bit<00:30:40.298> of<00:30:40.378> a<00:30:40.442> burden<00:30:40.763> on<00:30:40.907> that.

00:30:41.244 --> 00:30:47.065
And<00:30:41.324> so<00:30:42.350> I<00:30:42.366> think<00:30:42.590> that,<00:30:42.750> you<00:30:42.782> know,<00:30:42.991> it's<00:30:43.151> a<00:30:43.231> hard<00:30:43.488> problem,<00:30:44.930> but<00:30:45.876> I<00:30:46.213> personally<00:30:46.519> enjoy<00:30:47.001> it.

00:30:47.322 --> 00:30:50.166
I<00:30:47.338> don't<00:30:47.499> mind<00:30:47.900> commenting<00:30:48.447> on<00:30:48.624> things<00:30:48.929> out<00:30:49.025> there<00:30:49.250> when<00:30:49.331> I<00:30:49.427> think<00:30:49.588> they're<00:30:49.748> relevant.

00:30:50.230 --> 00:30:52.625
I<00:30:50.311> think<00:30:51.018> leaders<00:30:51.275> can<00:30:51.371> get<00:30:51.500> themselves<00:30:51.901> in<00:30:51.982> trouble,<00:30:52.464> right?

00:30:52.721 --> 00:30:55.147
You<00:30:52.866> have<00:30:53.026> expertise<00:30:53.605> in<00:30:53.685> one<00:30:54.006> domain<00:30:54.488> or<00:30:54.633> another<00:30:54.890> domain.

00:30:55.211 --> 00:30:57.268
It<00:30:55.244> doesn't<00:30:55.453> necessarily<00:30:55.838> carry<00:30:56.240> over<00:30:56.497> into<00:30:56.818> everything.

00:30:57.365 --> 00:31:04.820
And<00:30:57.461> so<00:30:58.489> I<00:30:58.522> always<00:30:58.730> like<00:30:58.891> to<00:30:58.987> show<00:30:59.132> a<00:30:59.148> little<00:30:59.453> bit<00:31:00.032> of<00:31:00.177> humility<00:31:00.755> around<00:31:01.076> the<00:31:01.237> areas<00:31:01.558> where<00:31:01.719> I'm<00:31:01.880> less<00:31:02.185> confident<00:31:02.699> or<00:31:02.763> I<00:31:02.860> feel<00:31:03.085> like<00:31:03.310> I<00:31:03.390> have<00:31:03.551> less<00:31:03.792> education<00:31:04.354> or<00:31:04.451> knowledge.

00:31:06.074 --> 00:31:10.621
So<00:31:06.218> I<00:31:06.363> try<00:31:06.523> to<00:31:06.556> stick<00:31:07.423> a<00:31:07.439> little<00:31:07.584> bit<00:31:07.729> closer<00:31:08.066> to<00:31:08.146> home<00:31:08.789> in<00:31:08.869> terms<00:31:09.046> of<00:31:09.094> the<00:31:09.191> things<00:31:09.448> and<00:31:09.576> the<00:31:09.657> problems<00:31:09.994> that<00:31:10.091> I've<00:31:10.219> worked<00:31:10.460> on.

00:31:10.878 --> 00:31:15.476
But<00:31:11.972> I<00:31:11.988> think<00:31:12.374> there's<00:31:12.679> a<00:31:12.696> lot<00:31:12.872> of<00:31:12.937> different<00:31:13.178> patterns<00:31:13.563> out<00:31:13.660> there<00:31:13.805> for<00:31:13.981> leaders<00:31:14.303> and<00:31:14.367> a<00:31:14.383> lot<00:31:14.560> of<00:31:14.624> debate,<00:31:15.428> right?

00:31:15.572 --> 00:31:20.699
I<00:31:15.604> think<00:31:15.749> this<00:31:15.846> is<00:31:15.926> a<00:31:15.990> very<00:31:16.376> active<00:31:16.697> area<00:31:16.955> of<00:31:17.035> debate<00:31:17.983> amongst<00:31:18.546> executives<00:31:19.124> and<00:31:19.269> leaders<00:31:19.542> about<00:31:19.831> what<00:31:19.928> are<00:31:20.008> the<00:31:20.153> best<00:31:20.394> patterns.

00:31:23.246 --> 00:31:25.608
Oh,<00:31:23.407> you<00:31:23.503> asked,<00:31:23.985> you<00:31:24.130> did<00:31:24.307> ask<00:31:24.403> a<00:31:24.467> question,<00:31:24.789> the<00:31:24.869> macro<00:31:25.174> environment.

00:31:25.897 --> 00:31:26.668
Yeah.

00:31:27.022 --> 00:31:30.621
Well,<00:31:27.215> we<00:31:27.343> actually<00:31:27.600> run<00:31:27.761> into<00:31:27.938> this<00:31:28.243> a<00:31:28.307> lot<00:31:28.484> because<00:31:28.709> I<00:31:28.805> get<00:31:28.966> asked<00:31:29.110> the<00:31:29.142> question<00:31:29.448> a<00:31:29.528> lot<00:31:29.705> at<00:31:29.833> Daffy,<00:31:30.476> right?

00:31:30.669 --> 00:31:33.355
So<00:31:30.813> we,<00:31:31.054> we<00:31:31.215> have<00:31:31.456> a<00:31:31.520> front<00:31:31.777> row<00:31:31.938> seat<00:31:32.340> to<00:31:32.420> what's<00:31:32.645> going<00:31:32.822> on<00:31:32.903> with<00:31:33.064> giving.

00:31:34.760 --> 00:31:39.605
And<00:31:34.905> to<00:31:34.937> some<00:31:35.147> extent,<00:31:35.713> a<00:31:35.793> lot<00:31:35.971> of<00:31:36.036> the<00:31:36.116> problem<00:31:36.294> we<00:31:36.375> work<00:31:36.682> on<00:31:36.843> is<00:31:37.021> grounded<00:31:37.505> in<00:31:37.651> personal<00:31:38.006> finance,<00:31:38.619> kind<00:31:38.733> of<00:31:38.862> individual<00:31:39.201> pocketbooks.

00:31:39.653 --> 00:31:41.349
Like<00:31:39.766> when<00:31:39.911> do<00:31:40.008> people<00:31:40.331> feel<00:31:40.670> like<00:31:40.897> they<00:31:40.977> have<00:31:41.203> money?

00:31:41.842 --> 00:31:47.227
Available<00:31:42.323> to<00:31:42.483> give,<00:31:43.124> to<00:31:43.284> put<00:31:43.429> aside,<00:31:43.861> and<00:31:44.406> what<00:31:44.470> are<00:31:44.583> the<00:31:44.663> stresses<00:31:45.128> and<00:31:45.288> strains<00:31:46.073> on,<00:31:46.474> on<00:31:46.554> their<00:31:46.650> financial<00:31:47.051> lives?

00:31:47.291 --> 00:31:49.199
So<00:31:47.356> we<00:31:47.436> do<00:31:47.516> have<00:31:47.628> a<00:31:47.772> little<00:31:48.013> bit<00:31:48.109> of<00:31:48.173> a<00:31:48.253> window<00:31:48.590> into<00:31:48.814> that.

00:31:50.161 --> 00:31:51.090
And<00:31:50.209> so<00:31:50.321> I<00:31:50.337> don't<00:31:50.561> mind<00:31:50.738> commenting.

00:31:51.138 --> 00:31:57.357
I<00:31:51.218> mean,<00:31:51.283> I<00:31:51.379> think<00:31:51.603> the<00:31:51.635> macro<00:31:51.956> environment<00:31:52.405> right<00:31:52.581> now<00:31:53.863> is<00:31:54.088> confusing<00:31:55.386> for<00:31:55.530> a<00:31:55.546> lot<00:31:55.722> of<00:31:55.787> people<00:31:56.267> for<00:31:56.444> a<00:31:56.508> number<00:31:56.732> of<00:31:56.828> reasons.

00:31:57.934 --> 00:32:07.295
One<00:31:58.175> is,<00:31:58.832> let's<00:31:59.008> not<00:31:59.088> forget,<00:31:59.457> we,<00:31:59.698> we<00:31:59.858> just<00:32:00.259> had<00:32:00.980> a<00:32:01.060> pandemic,<00:32:01.958> which<00:32:02.134> is<00:32:02.278> kind<00:32:02.535> of<00:32:02.599> a<00:32:02.983> once-in-a-century<00:32:04.266> kind<00:32:04.458> of<00:32:04.522> phenomenon,<00:32:06.430> at<00:32:06.462> least<00:32:06.670> when<00:32:06.750> you<00:32:06.830> look<00:32:07.007> back.

00:32:07.343 --> 00:32:09.379
And<00:32:07.407> so<00:32:07.552> that's<00:32:07.792> out<00:32:07.952> of<00:32:08.113> most<00:32:08.369> people's<00:32:08.770> memory<00:32:09.026> space.

00:32:10.437 --> 00:32:19.318
And<00:32:10.549> so<00:32:10.693> I,<00:32:10.854> I<00:32:11.014> think<00:32:11.190> it'd<00:32:11.318> be,<00:32:11.559> you,<00:32:11.719> you'd<00:32:11.879> have<00:32:11.976> to<00:32:12.040> have<00:32:12.152> an<00:32:12.232> amazing<00:32:12.697> amount<00:32:12.921> of<00:32:13.114> ego<00:32:13.338> and<00:32:13.499> hubris<00:32:13.963> to<00:32:14.060> believe<00:32:14.364> that<00:32:14.524> you<00:32:14.605> could<00:32:14.765> totally<00:32:15.166> predict<00:32:15.647> all<00:32:15.807> the<00:32:15.967> economic<00:32:16.448> ramifications<00:32:17.186> of<00:32:17.266> what<00:32:17.410> we<00:32:17.506> just<00:32:17.666> went<00:32:17.891> through<00:32:18.388> in<00:32:18.484> the<00:32:18.564> last<00:32:18.853> few<00:32:19.029> years.

00:32:19.991 --> 00:32:26.339
And<00:32:20.071> so<00:32:20.135> I<00:32:20.231> think<00:32:20.392> that's<00:32:20.696> still<00:32:21.177> working<00:32:21.498> through<00:32:21.578> the<00:32:21.658> system,<00:32:22.059> both<00:32:22.251> in<00:32:22.379> explicit<00:32:22.940> actions<00:32:23.341> and<00:32:23.918> in<00:32:24.079> changes<00:32:24.624> in<00:32:24.720> consumer<00:32:25.265> behavior,<00:32:26.243> right?

00:32:26.403 --> 00:32:27.172
Which<00:32:26.643> drives<00:32:26.948> dollars.

00:32:28.070 --> 00:32:31.453
Obviously,<00:32:28.792> we<00:32:28.872> had<00:32:29.048> surges<00:32:29.465> of<00:32:29.609> government<00:32:30.010> intervention<00:32:31.132> money.

00:32:31.533 --> 00:32:32.767
We're,<00:32:31.757> we're<00:32:31.917> dealing<00:32:32.174> with<00:32:32.334> those.

00:32:32.831 --> 00:32:37.305
It's<00:32:32.975> not<00:32:33.136> quite<00:32:33.521> the<00:32:33.601> same<00:32:33.937> thing<00:32:34.258> as<00:32:34.402> the<00:32:34.482> great<00:32:34.659> financial<00:32:35.124> crisis,<00:32:35.620> you<00:32:35.701> know,<00:32:36.406> 15<00:32:36.824> years<00:32:37.080> ago.

00:32:37.385 --> 00:32:39.552
It's<00:32:37.546> not<00:32:37.722> quite<00:32:37.947> the<00:32:38.027> same<00:32:38.332> thing<00:32:38.509> as<00:32:38.589> when<00:32:38.733> the<00:32:38.830> bubble<00:32:39.071> burst.

00:32:40.034 --> 00:32:41.414
And<00:32:40.130> so<00:32:40.258> I<00:32:40.274> think<00:32:40.499> everyone's<00:32:40.836> dealing<00:32:41.077> with<00:32:41.221> that.

00:32:41.542 --> 00:32:43.019
And<00:32:41.606> then<00:32:41.703> of<00:32:41.799> course,<00:32:42.264> it's<00:32:42.361> an<00:32:42.505> election<00:32:42.906> year.

00:32:43.324 --> 00:32:56.853
And<00:32:43.404> so<00:32:44.752> one<00:32:44.848> of<00:32:44.913> the<00:32:44.993> increasing<00:32:45.490> things<00:32:45.651> you<00:32:45.747> see<00:32:45.972> in<00:32:46.052> the<00:32:46.213> data<00:32:46.694> is<00:32:46.855> that<00:32:47.015> people's<00:32:47.336> opinions<00:32:47.914> about<00:32:48.203> the<00:32:48.283> economy<00:32:48.636> seem<00:32:49.085> to<00:32:49.182> be<00:32:49.423> more<00:32:49.744> and<00:32:49.888> more<00:32:50.225> driven<00:32:50.947> by<00:32:51.188> politics<00:32:51.750> and<00:32:51.990> less<00:32:52.231> and<00:32:52.311> less<00:32:52.536> driven<00:32:52.793> by<00:32:53.034> the<00:32:53.339> actual<00:32:53.756> dollars<00:32:54.157> and<00:32:54.253> cents<00:32:55.104> of<00:32:55.184> what's<00:32:55.361> going<00:32:55.602> on<00:32:55.762> in<00:32:55.842> their<00:32:56.147> financial<00:32:56.693> lives.

00:32:57.046 --> 00:32:57.110
Right?

00:32:57.191 --> 00:32:58.089
We,<00:32:57.688> we're<00:32:57.784> human.

00:32:58.170 --> 00:32:59.903
We<00:32:58.314> all<00:32:58.410> pick<00:32:58.635> and<00:32:58.731> choose<00:32:59.116> what<00:32:59.213> we<00:32:59.293> focus<00:32:59.758> on.

00:33:00.802 --> 00:33:05.103
And<00:33:01.299> it,<00:33:01.444> it<00:33:01.540> looks<00:33:01.765> like<00:33:01.941> politics<00:33:03.225> is<00:33:03.386> driving<00:33:03.851> a<00:33:03.947> lot<00:33:04.124> of<00:33:04.204> opinions<00:33:04.654> from<00:33:04.830> people.

00:33:05.777 --> 00:33:15.915
But<00:33:05.825> I'll<00:33:05.953> say<00:33:06.114> from<00:33:06.354> giving,<00:33:07.076> what<00:33:07.220> we're<00:33:07.333> seeing<00:33:08.103> is<00:33:08.359> that,<00:33:08.600> you<00:33:08.760> know,<00:33:08.905> like<00:33:09.226> from<00:33:09.322> the<00:33:09.402> platform<00:33:09.707> like<00:33:09.883> Daffy<00:33:11.311> is<00:33:11.471> that<00:33:11.712> actually<00:33:12.049> people<00:33:12.273> are<00:33:12.450> very<00:33:12.691> aware<00:33:14.038> of<00:33:14.134> problems<00:33:14.599> going<00:33:14.840> on<00:33:15.161> in<00:33:15.209> different<00:33:15.498> communities.

00:33:15.979 --> 00:33:18.353
They,<00:33:16.139> they're,<00:33:16.460> they're<00:33:16.685> aware<00:33:17.086> of<00:33:17.166> this<00:33:17.423> lumpiness<00:33:17.904> in<00:33:17.968> the<00:33:18.048> economy.

00:33:18.401 --> 00:33:21.240
Some<00:33:18.706> people<00:33:19.011> are<00:33:19.107> doing<00:33:19.348> phenomenally<00:33:20.069> well<00:33:20.551> in<00:33:20.631> this<00:33:20.807> economy.

00:33:21.674 --> 00:33:23.246
Some<00:33:21.914> people<00:33:22.139> are<00:33:22.315> still<00:33:22.652> struggling.

00:33:23.743 --> 00:33:30.673
Um,<00:33:23.855> some<00:33:24.080> people<00:33:24.481> did<00:33:24.786> well<00:33:24.962> and<00:33:25.106> found<00:33:25.299> systems<00:33:25.764> that<00:33:25.908> got<00:33:26.149> them<00:33:26.309> through<00:33:26.422> the<00:33:26.550> pandemic,<00:33:27.673> but<00:33:27.914> they<00:33:28.074> want<00:33:28.250> to<00:33:28.395> go<00:33:28.571> back<00:33:29.277> a<00:33:29.293> little<00:33:29.534> bit<00:33:29.758> to<00:33:29.855> what<00:33:29.999> they<00:33:30.159> did<00:33:30.336> before.

00:33:30.737 --> 00:33:32.325
And<00:33:30.833> they're<00:33:30.961> trying<00:33:31.122> to<00:33:31.202> figure<00:33:31.443> out<00:33:31.523> how<00:33:31.555> to<00:33:31.780> do<00:33:32.020> that.

00:33:32.807 --> 00:33:33.883
And<00:33:32.871> that's<00:33:33.047> true<00:33:33.224> for<00:33:33.369> individuals.

00:33:33.931 --> 00:33:35.120
That's<00:33:34.108> true<00:33:34.332> for<00:33:34.509> businesses.

00:33:36.019 --> 00:33:40.709
But<00:33:36.131> what<00:33:36.212> we<00:33:36.340> see<00:33:36.517> on<00:33:36.742> giving<00:33:37.465> is<00:33:37.561> that<00:33:37.722> people<00:33:38.043> still<00:33:38.605> realize<00:33:39.071> that<00:33:39.232> organizations<00:33:39.906> need<00:33:40.051> their<00:33:40.211> support.

00:33:41.657 --> 00:33:44.147
And<00:33:41.802> a<00:33:41.898> lot<00:33:42.139> of<00:33:42.219> people<00:33:42.460> are<00:33:42.621> thinking,<00:33:42.942> how<00:33:43.103> do<00:33:43.263> I<00:33:43.344> do<00:33:43.504> that<00:33:43.809> better?

00:33:44.211 --> 00:33:45.641
How<00:33:44.307> do<00:33:44.372> I<00:33:44.468> do<00:33:44.564> that<00:33:44.773> more<00:33:44.934> consistently?

00:33:46.540 --> 00:34:05.510
And<00:33:46.620> so<00:33:46.781> there<00:33:47.359> you<00:33:47.504> see<00:33:47.616> this<00:33:47.761> amazing<00:33:48.323> growth<00:33:48.789> in<00:33:48.869> the<00:33:48.966> donor<00:33:49.207> advised<00:33:49.592> fund<00:33:49.753> market,<00:33:50.235> not<00:33:50.411> just<00:33:50.572> Daffy,<00:33:51.214> but<00:33:51.375> the<00:33:51.455> entire<00:33:52.082> category<00:33:52.660> is<00:33:52.821> just<00:33:53.206> exploding<00:33:54.652> year<00:33:54.909> over<00:33:55.150> year<00:33:56.017> as<00:33:56.178> more<00:33:56.290> and<00:33:56.354> more<00:33:56.595> people<00:33:56.836> discover<00:33:57.382> that<00:33:57.479> there's<00:33:57.784> a,<00:33:58.443> there's<00:33:58.667> a<00:33:58.684> way<00:33:59.246> to<00:33:59.390> put<00:33:59.567> money<00:33:59.728> aside<00:34:00.049> for<00:34:00.209> charity<00:34:00.531> that<00:34:00.627> might<00:34:00.772> be<00:34:00.916> smarter<00:34:01.559> from<00:34:01.735> a<00:34:01.816> tax<00:34:02.121> perspective,<00:34:02.619> might<00:34:02.844> be<00:34:02.876> smarter<00:34:03.727> from<00:34:03.840> a<00:34:03.904> personal<00:34:04.386> budgeting<00:34:04.787> perspective.

00:34:06.297 --> 00:34:08.193
And<00:34:06.554> they're<00:34:07.100> finding<00:34:07.357> a<00:34:07.373> lot<00:34:07.518> of<00:34:07.598> reward<00:34:07.920> in<00:34:08.000> that.

00:34:08.257 --> 00:34:10.988
So<00:34:08.642> I<00:34:08.658> don't<00:34:09.285> know<00:34:09.429> if<00:34:09.510> you<00:34:09.574> have<00:34:09.622> something<00:34:09.847> specific<00:34:10.233> about<00:34:10.409> the<00:34:10.474> macro<00:34:10.666> environment.

00:34:11.036 --> 00:34:11.437
I'm<00:34:11.132> happy<00:34:11.357> to—.

00:34:12.562 --> 00:34:16.304
No,<00:34:12.738> I<00:34:12.819> just<00:34:13.044> wonder,<00:34:13.301> like,<00:34:13.606> you<00:34:13.638> know,<00:34:14.425> you<00:34:14.586> kind<00:34:14.891> of<00:34:15.051> touched<00:34:15.292> on<00:34:15.389> it<00:34:15.614> a<00:34:15.774> little<00:34:15.951> bit.

00:34:16.433 --> 00:34:19.260
Like,<00:34:16.818> obviously<00:34:17.316> the<00:34:17.380> United<00:34:17.702> States<00:34:17.975> is<00:34:18.103> going<00:34:18.184> to<00:34:18.264> have<00:34:18.376> an<00:34:18.441> election<00:34:18.906> this<00:34:19.099> year.

00:34:19.967 --> 00:34:21.717
About<00:34:20.191> 20<00:34:20.529> other<00:34:20.689> countries<00:34:21.027> are<00:34:21.091> going<00:34:21.187> to<00:34:21.219> have<00:34:21.268> an<00:34:21.396> election.

00:34:21.798 --> 00:34:23.452
Like,<00:34:21.910> election<00:34:22.312> years<00:34:22.537> are<00:34:22.601> kind<00:34:22.713> of<00:34:22.858> unpredictable.

00:34:24.785 --> 00:34:38.419
I<00:34:24.849> wonder<00:34:25.091> how<00:34:25.123> much<00:34:25.349> you<00:34:25.510> think<00:34:25.688> about,<00:34:27.106> I<00:34:27.122> mean,<00:34:27.590> this<00:34:27.767> isn't<00:34:27.928> a<00:34:28.009> political<00:34:28.396> show,<00:34:29.379> but<00:34:30.105> I<00:34:30.169> wonder<00:34:30.314> how<00:34:30.411> much<00:34:30.653> you<00:34:30.814> think<00:34:30.975> about<00:34:33.315> just<00:34:33.557> the<00:34:33.719> cultural<00:34:34.607> ramifications<00:34:35.592> of<00:34:35.738> things<00:34:35.931> like<00:34:36.158> that.

00:34:39.566 --> 00:34:43.995
I<00:34:39.630> mean,<00:34:39.937> I<00:34:39.953> think<00:34:40.115> like<00:34:40.276> anyone,<00:34:42.024> first<00:34:42.268> and<00:34:42.415> foremost,<00:34:43.800> right?

00:34:44.044 --> 00:34:45.902
I'm<00:34:45.022> here<00:34:45.201> in<00:34:45.348> society.

00:34:46.179 --> 00:34:46.635
I'm<00:34:46.325> a<00:34:46.342> person.

00:34:48.562 --> 00:34:51.559
There's<00:34:49.051> a<00:34:49.116> lot<00:34:49.295> of<00:34:49.376> us,<00:34:50.109> but<00:34:50.272> we<00:34:50.353> all<00:34:50.435> have<00:34:50.581> opinions,<00:34:51.314> right?

00:34:51.803 --> 00:34:53.578
And<00:34:51.966> we<00:34:52.063> all<00:34:52.129> have<00:34:52.243> a<00:34:52.308> life<00:34:52.552> to<00:34:52.699> lead<00:34:52.894> and<00:34:52.975> we<00:34:53.106> only<00:34:53.220> get<00:34:53.431> one.

00:34:53.866 --> 00:34:58.420
So,<00:34:55.068> you<00:34:55.100> know,<00:34:55.325> you<00:34:55.405> have<00:34:55.549> to<00:34:55.646> put<00:34:55.806> some<00:34:56.030> thought<00:34:56.367> into<00:34:56.544> these<00:34:56.768> things<00:34:57.875> and<00:34:57.955> interact.

00:34:59.013 --> 00:35:08.186
And<00:34:59.077> so<00:34:59.158> like<00:34:59.318> a<00:34:59.334> lot<00:34:59.510> of<00:34:59.575> people,<00:34:59.799> I<00:34:59.895> think<00:35:00.072> about<00:35:00.232> my<00:35:00.376> family,<00:35:00.922> I<00:35:00.938> think<00:35:01.178> about<00:35:01.355> my<00:35:01.499> community,<00:35:02.846> I<00:35:02.862> think<00:35:03.039> about<00:35:03.263> the<00:35:03.343> groups<00:35:03.664> that<00:35:03.808> I<00:35:03.905> belong<00:35:04.289> to<00:35:04.402> in<00:35:04.466> the<00:35:04.610> organizations,<00:35:05.428> and<00:35:05.508> I<00:35:05.572> of<00:35:05.669> course<00:35:05.973> think<00:35:06.085> of<00:35:06.230> things<00:35:06.486> at<00:35:06.551> the<00:35:06.647> national<00:35:07.112> level,<00:35:07.657> etc.

00:35:09.437 --> 00:35:16.590
For<00:35:09.565> me,<00:35:09.838> I<00:35:09.918> mean,<00:35:10.544> you<00:35:10.592> know,<00:35:10.720> coming<00:35:10.961> from<00:35:11.121> Silicon<00:35:11.522> Valley,<00:35:11.843> I<00:35:12.003> tend<00:35:12.163> to<00:35:12.244> take<00:35:12.468> the<00:35:12.564> point<00:35:12.789> of<00:35:12.869> view—<00:35:13.687> listen,<00:35:14.072> I<00:35:14.264> said<00:35:14.489> earlier,<00:35:14.890> I'm<00:35:15.307> a<00:35:15.371> technology<00:35:16.076> optimist.

00:35:16.958 --> 00:35:40.295
I<00:35:17.055> think<00:35:18.562> that<00:35:18.995> through<00:35:19.220> a<00:35:19.300> number<00:35:20.489> of<00:35:20.667> both<00:35:20.909> intentional<00:35:21.942> actions<00:35:22.506> and<00:35:22.829> accidents<00:35:23.410> of<00:35:23.507> history,<00:35:24.846> Silicon<00:35:25.266> Valley<00:35:26.622> ended<00:35:26.944> up<00:35:27.670> creating,<00:35:28.348> not<00:35:29.430> just<00:35:29.623> creating,<00:35:30.169> I<00:35:30.185> would<00:35:30.346> say,<00:35:30.523> but<00:35:30.829> really<00:35:31.231> proving<00:35:31.778> out<00:35:33.869> the<00:35:34.030> dynamism<00:35:34.592> that<00:35:34.753> can<00:35:34.930> come<00:35:35.477> from<00:35:35.638> enabling<00:35:36.297> people<00:35:36.619> to<00:35:36.780> build<00:35:37.102> new<00:35:37.327> products,<00:35:37.825> build<00:35:38.147> new<00:35:38.372> companies,<00:35:39.170> build<00:35:39.459> new<00:35:39.604> services.

00:35:41.050 --> 00:35:54.740
And<00:35:41.195> I<00:35:41.372> look<00:35:41.532> at<00:35:41.597> the<00:35:41.757> economic<00:35:42.256> value<00:35:43.059> and<00:35:43.220> not<00:35:43.413> just<00:35:43.622> economic<00:35:44.169> value,<00:35:44.410> but<00:35:44.506> I<00:35:44.651> look<00:35:45.471> at<00:35:45.615> how<00:35:46.017> the<00:35:46.114> positive<00:35:46.596> impact<00:35:47.142> all<00:35:47.335> of<00:35:47.416> this<00:35:48.232> amazing<00:35:48.937> economic<00:35:49.514> growth<00:35:50.075> and<00:35:50.396> productivity<00:35:51.214> and<00:35:52.063> all<00:35:52.223> these<00:35:52.384> new<00:35:52.480> technologies<00:35:53.105> have<00:35:54.067> unleashed.

00:35:55.349 --> 00:36:00.350
And<00:35:55.429> so<00:35:55.461> my<00:35:55.670> biggest<00:35:55.926> concern,<00:35:56.407> you<00:35:56.487> know,<00:35:56.647> right<00:35:56.824> now<00:35:57.064> is<00:35:57.192> that<00:35:57.289> we<00:35:57.369> don't<00:35:57.529> forget<00:35:58.571> the<00:35:58.795> lessons<00:35:59.228> of<00:35:59.292> the<00:35:59.372> past,<00:36:00.014> right?

00:36:00.398 --> 00:36:06.169
You<00:36:00.430> know,<00:36:00.575> like<00:36:01.071> Silicon<00:36:01.408> Valley<00:36:01.600> did<00:36:01.697> not<00:36:01.921> happen,<00:36:03.380> you<00:36:03.460> know,<00:36:03.620> with<00:36:03.780> top-down<00:36:04.502> orchestration,<00:36:05.944> right?

00:36:06.265 --> 00:36:16.284
You<00:36:06.361> know,<00:36:07.211> a<00:36:07.611> lot<00:36:07.788> of<00:36:07.820> the<00:36:07.868> best<00:36:08.092> products<00:36:08.429> and<00:36:08.509> services<00:36:09.070> that<00:36:09.214> happened<00:36:10.513> didn't<00:36:10.817> happen<00:36:11.875> because<00:36:12.131> some<00:36:12.516> executive<00:36:13.302> at<00:36:13.382> a<00:36:13.478> big<00:36:13.638> company<00:36:14.055> decided<00:36:14.520> to<00:36:14.680> invest<00:36:15.482> in<00:36:15.562> that<00:36:15.803> area.

00:36:17.232 --> 00:36:19.431
Or<00:36:17.264> at<00:36:17.328> least<00:36:17.505> they<00:36:17.537> didn't<00:36:17.794> happen<00:36:18.195> completely<00:36:18.853> because<00:36:19.174> of<00:36:19.255> that.

00:36:20.234 --> 00:36:26.608
Sometimes<00:36:20.603> we<00:36:20.684> don't<00:36:20.844> give<00:36:20.941> enough<00:36:21.181> credit<00:36:21.567> to<00:36:21.663> the<00:36:21.743> research<00:36:22.081> and<00:36:22.209> development<00:36:22.546> that<00:36:22.707> happens<00:36:23.253> years<00:36:23.510> and<00:36:23.670> decades<00:36:24.072> before<00:36:24.955> the<00:36:25.035> commercial<00:36:25.500> success<00:36:26.078> happens.

00:36:27.684 --> 00:36:38.971
So<00:36:27.845> for<00:36:27.989> me,<00:36:28.150> I<00:36:28.391> tend<00:36:28.487> to<00:36:28.551> spend<00:36:28.728> a<00:36:28.744> lot<00:36:28.904> of<00:36:28.952> my<00:36:29.049> time<00:36:29.370> being<00:36:29.514> an<00:36:29.675> advocate<00:36:30.076> for<00:36:30.253> innovation,<00:36:31.843> advocate<00:36:32.180> for<00:36:33.528> all<00:36:33.705> the<00:36:33.785> systems<00:36:34.347> that<00:36:34.813> come<00:36:35.070> together<00:36:35.535> to<00:36:36.033> keep<00:36:36.435> companies<00:36:37.398> being<00:36:37.639> built,<00:36:37.976> new<00:36:38.201> products<00:36:38.506> and<00:36:38.602> services.

00:36:39.068 --> 00:36:42.809
I<00:36:39.228> love<00:36:39.405> encouraging<00:36:40.593> education<00:36:41.332> and<00:36:41.412> getting<00:36:41.653> more<00:36:41.894> people<00:36:42.295> educated.

00:36:42.857 --> 00:36:57.555

I<00:39:06.815> mean,<00:39:07.201> when<00:39:07.361> I<00:39:07.457> make<00:39:07.682> an<00:39:07.762> angel<00:39:08.035> investment,<00:39:08.886> You<00:39:08.918> know,<00:39:09.062> like<00:39:09.287> when<00:39:09.383> I<00:39:09.544> invest<00:39:09.849> in<00:39:09.929> a<00:39:09.945> company<00:39:10.266> like<00:39:10.427> Figma,<00:39:10.748> I<00:39:10.844> mean,<00:39:11.133> Dylan<00:39:11.390> has<00:39:11.534> done<00:39:11.647> an<00:39:11.711> amazing<00:39:12.112> job.

00:39:12.353 --> 00:39:13.829
That<00:39:12.594> company<00:39:12.979> is<00:39:13.236> incredible.

00:39:14.664 --> 00:39:21.486
You<00:39:14.760> know,<00:39:14.905> did,<00:39:15.306> did<00:39:15.547> I<00:39:15.643> give<00:39:15.868> him<00:39:16.028> a<00:39:16.061> shot<00:39:16.831> by,<00:39:17.152> you<00:39:17.248> know,<00:39:17.345> supporting<00:39:17.955> him<00:39:18.195> and,<00:39:18.436> and<00:39:18.597> writing<00:39:18.869> a<00:39:18.934> check<00:39:19.271> in<00:39:19.335> the<00:39:19.431> early<00:39:19.720> days<00:39:20.041> when<00:39:20.218> a<00:39:20.282> lot<00:39:20.442> of<00:39:20.539> people<00:39:21.101> wouldn't?

00:39:22.128 --> 00:39:27.810
Um,<00:39:22.288> or<00:39:22.385> did<00:39:22.529> he<00:39:22.690> give<00:39:22.866> me<00:39:23.027> a<00:39:23.043> shot<00:39:23.990> to<00:39:24.086> be<00:39:24.230> a<00:39:24.295> part<00:39:24.551> of<00:39:24.584> that<00:39:24.776> company<00:39:25.193> and<00:39:25.836> give<00:39:25.996> me<00:39:26.221> the<00:39:26.381> opportunity<00:39:26.975> to<00:39:27.136> invest<00:39:27.521> in<00:39:27.665> it?

00:39:27.906 --> 00:39:30.426
You<00:39:27.938> know,<00:39:28.548> there's<00:39:28.949> always<00:39:29.206> two<00:39:29.367> sides<00:39:29.784> to<00:39:29.912> these<00:39:30.089> things.

00:39:30.490 --> 00:39:40.487
And<00:39:30.635> so<00:39:31.213> I,<00:39:31.357> I<00:39:31.453> think<00:39:31.774> that,<00:39:32.657> that<00:39:32.898> magic<00:39:33.460> and,<00:39:33.684> and,<00:39:33.845> and<00:39:33.941> those<00:39:34.246> moments,<00:39:34.968> um,<00:39:35.610> when<00:39:35.787> people<00:39:36.108> bet<00:39:36.333> on<00:39:36.445> each<00:39:36.734> other,<00:39:37.456> is<00:39:37.632> probably<00:39:38.098> what<00:39:38.194> I<00:39:38.274> think<00:39:38.450> about<00:39:38.675> most<00:39:39.076> when<00:39:39.573> I<00:39:39.653> think<00:39:39.813> about<00:39:40.038> that<00:39:40.118> question.

00:39:41.545 --> 00:39:42.219
That's<00:39:41.722> incredible.

00:39:42.604 --> 00:39:42.957
Well<00:39:42.828> done.

00:39:43.646 --> 00:39:45.041
Good<00:39:43.790> investment<00:39:44.288> on<00:39:44.448> Figma,<00:39:44.769> by<00:39:44.929> the<00:39:45.009> way.

00:39:45.089 --> 00:39:58.929
Uh,<00:39:46.597> I<00:39:47.254> like,<00:39:47.639> at<00:39:47.735> this<00:39:47.976> point,<00:39:48.216> I<00:39:48.297> think<00:39:48.361> it's<00:39:48.537> pretty<00:39:48.778> clear<00:39:49.098> that,<00:39:50.045> you<00:39:50.077> know,<00:39:50.622> Dylan<00:39:51.007> did<00:39:51.167> me<00:39:51.408> quite<00:39:51.600> a<00:39:51.664> bit<00:39:51.761> of<00:39:51.825> favor<00:39:52.145> of<00:39:52.306> in<00:39:52.546> involving<00:39:53.027> me<00:39:53.188> and,<00:39:53.669> and,<00:39:53.813> and<00:39:53.974> actually<00:39:54.310> I,<00:39:54.567> I,<00:39:55.256> I<00:39:55.337> tell<00:39:55.513> everyone<00:39:55.914> now,<00:39:56.475> like,<00:39:56.876> you<00:39:56.956> know,<00:39:57.277> be,<00:39:57.822> be<00:39:57.918> nice<00:39:58.223> to<00:39:58.319> the<00:39:58.480> interns.

00:39:59.121 --> 00:40:01.463
He<00:39:59.266> was<00:39:59.362> an<00:39:59.442> intern<00:39:59.763> at<00:39:59.843> LinkedIn,<00:40:00.709> um,<00:40:00.965> back<00:40:01.222> in<00:40:01.286> the<00:40:01.366> day.

00:40:01.527 --> 00:40:02.553
That's<00:40:01.671> how<00:40:01.767> I<00:40:01.912> first<00:40:02.168> met<00:40:02.328> him.

00:40:02.713 --> 00:40:03.387
I<00:40:02.794> was<00:40:02.906> a<00:40:02.970> VP.

00:40:04.109 --> 00:40:04.429
Right.

00:40:04.478 --> 00:40:11.439
And<00:40:04.574> when<00:40:04.734> we<00:40:04.814> got<00:40:04.975> along,<00:40:05.296> but<00:40:05.520> you<00:40:05.552> know,<00:40:05.632> the<00:40:05.777> magic<00:40:06.499> of<00:40:06.595> Silicon<00:40:06.916> Valley<00:40:07.220> is,<00:40:07.365> you<00:40:07.397> know,<00:40:07.525> he<00:40:07.621> went<00:40:07.846> off<00:40:08.103> and<00:40:08.504> when<00:40:08.648> he<00:40:08.744> had<00:40:08.905> an<00:40:08.985> idea<00:40:09.386> for<00:40:09.546> a<00:40:09.627> company,<00:40:10.332> he<00:40:10.429> came<00:40:10.669> to<00:40:10.749> me<00:40:10.910> for<00:40:11.070> advice.

00:40:12.418 --> 00:40:17.984
Um,<00:40:12.770> you<00:40:12.835> know,<00:40:13.155> you<00:40:13.316> don't<00:40:13.476> have<00:40:13.621> to<00:40:13.701> do<00:40:13.797> these<00:40:14.038> things,<00:40:14.439> but<00:40:14.535> this<00:40:14.695> is<00:40:14.824> what<00:40:14.904> I<00:40:15.064> love<00:40:15.177> about<00:40:15.465> that<00:40:15.642> culture<00:40:16.123> in<00:40:16.203> Silicon<00:40:16.476> Valley,<00:40:16.604> the<00:40:16.749> pay<00:40:16.941> it<00:40:17.069> forward<00:40:17.551> culture.

00:40:18.513 --> 00:40:23.229
A<00:40:18.609> lot<00:40:18.850> of<00:40:18.914> what<00:40:19.074> happens<00:40:19.556> in<00:40:19.636> Silicon<00:40:19.973> Valley<00:40:20.293> doesn't<00:40:20.614> happen<00:40:21.192> for<00:40:22.042> pure<00:40:22.282> financial<00:40:22.844> reasons.

00:40:23.822 --> 00:40:31.169
It<00:40:23.919> happens<00:40:24.368> because<00:40:24.769> we<00:40:24.865> realize<00:40:25.250> that<00:40:25.410> everyone<00:40:26.132> has<00:40:26.293> this<00:40:26.453> hard<00:40:26.629> problem<00:40:26.886> of<00:40:28.378> building<00:40:28.715> new<00:40:28.795> technology,<00:40:29.437> building<00:40:29.757> new<00:40:29.902> companies,<00:40:30.319> and<00:40:30.383> it's<00:40:30.559> hard.

00:40:32.148 --> 00:40:33.465
And<00:40:32.244> you<00:40:32.325> know,<00:40:32.550> someone<00:40:32.951> helped<00:40:33.288> you.

00:40:33.770 --> 00:40:38.105
A<00:40:33.834> lot<00:40:33.995> of<00:40:34.091> people<00:40:34.332> gave<00:40:34.717> advice<00:40:35.215> and<00:40:35.279> helped<00:40:35.520> you<00:40:35.616> and<00:40:35.713> spent<00:40:36.002> time<00:40:36.259> that<00:40:36.403> they<00:40:36.499> didn't<00:40:36.644> have<00:40:36.821> to<00:40:36.901> spend<00:40:37.302> when<00:40:37.527> you<00:40:37.639> needed<00:40:37.945> it.

00:40:38.988 --> 00:40:40.995
And<00:40:39.052> you<00:40:39.149> pay<00:40:39.325> it<00:40:39.390> back<00:40:39.871> when<00:40:40.016> you're<00:40:40.112> later<00:40:40.353> in<00:40:40.433> your<00:40:40.594> career.

00:40:41.557 --> 00:40:44.431
It's<00:40:41.878> what<00:40:42.023> I<00:40:42.103> try<00:40:42.264> to<00:40:42.360> do<00:40:42.826> as<00:40:42.922> an<00:40:42.986> investor<00:40:43.468> and<00:40:43.548> an<00:40:43.661> advisor<00:40:44.046> today.

00:40:44.528 --> 00:40:46.294
It's<00:40:45.331> what<00:40:45.411> I<00:40:45.491> try<00:40:45.652> to<00:40:45.716> do<00:40:45.828> as<00:40:45.973> a<00:40:46.053> leader.

00:40:46.374 --> 00:40:49.794
But<00:40:47.498> it<00:40:47.643> is<00:40:47.739> one<00:40:47.835> of<00:40:47.900> the<00:40:47.980> parts<00:40:48.237> of<00:40:48.301> the<00:40:48.381> culture<00:40:48.719> that<00:40:48.847> I<00:40:48.927> hope<00:40:49.104> that<00:40:49.200> we<00:40:49.329> don't<00:40:49.570> lose.

00:40:50.132 --> 00:40:55.254
I<00:40:50.388> think<00:40:50.613> that<00:40:50.710> there's<00:40:51.416> a<00:40:51.593> real<00:40:51.898> economic<00:40:52.395> price<00:40:52.620> to<00:40:52.701> be<00:40:52.797> paid<00:40:53.198> for<00:40:53.439> purely<00:40:53.985> transactional<00:40:54.788> cultures.

00:40:55.366 --> 00:41:10.630
And<00:40:55.767> I<00:40:55.832> think<00:40:55.992> one<00:40:56.105> of<00:40:56.169> the<00:40:56.249> things<00:40:56.474> that's<00:40:57.196> made<00:40:57.453> technology<00:40:58.015> boom<00:40:58.496> in<00:40:58.577> the<00:40:58.657> last<00:40:58.962> 50<00:40:59.219> years<00:41:00.005> has<00:41:00.262> been<00:41:01.144> that<00:41:01.385> culture<00:41:01.786> of<00:41:01.867> people<00:41:02.252> leaning<00:41:02.509> into<00:41:02.749> things,<00:41:03.070> not<00:41:03.311> because<00:41:03.712> it<00:41:03.777> makes<00:41:04.033> financial<00:41:04.435> sense<00:41:04.740> per<00:41:04.852> se,<00:41:05.879> but<00:41:06.040> because<00:41:06.345> they're<00:41:06.505> excited<00:41:07.548> about<00:41:07.725> what<00:41:07.885> the<00:41:07.966> technology<00:41:08.527> can<00:41:08.688> do<00:41:08.929> and<00:41:09.009> the<00:41:09.233> value<00:41:09.651> it<00:41:09.731> can<00:41:09.956> create<00:41:10.213> for<00:41:10.373> people.

00:41:11.400 --> 00:41:12.684
Yeah,<00:41:11.480> I<00:41:11.657> agree<00:41:11.866> with<00:41:12.042> that<00:41:12.283> totally.

00:41:13.246 --> 00:41:14.514
Adam,<00:41:13.888> thank<00:41:14.064> you<00:41:14.145> so<00:41:14.305> much.

00:41:15.172 --> 00:41:16.215
What<00:41:15.284> an<00:41:15.413> honor<00:41:15.589> to<00:41:15.734> have<00:41:15.846> you<00:41:15.974> on<00:41:16.135> here.

00:41:17.018 --> 00:41:19.425
No,<00:41:17.274> thank<00:41:17.451> you<00:41:17.515> for<00:41:17.595> having<00:41:19.281> me.

```
