- Description: The Dolphin Entertainment founder quit law, learned television from a telenovela, and built the most powerful PR group in America.

# The agency of the year started in a bedroom

Being a lawyer was the only thing he ever wanted. "It's what I answered in kindergarten," O'Dowd said on the CEO.com Podcast. He graduated with honors from [Harvard Law School](https://dolphinentertainment.com/members/bill-odowd/?ref=ceo.com), took a $5,000 signing bonus, used it as the down payment on a car, and drove from Miami to Tampa to take the bar exam. Eight months into the job, he quit.

Law school left him with one thing. His school taught entertainment law, and it gave him the bug. In 1996, with no film school, no industry connections, and no debt, he started Dolphin Entertainment out of his bedroom in Miami. That first year he lived month to month, running a consulting business at 26 while he chased a production of his own.

The one he landed was an English-language telenovela. He took it because it paid and because he had things to learn. "What's a gaffer? I don't know. And how do you edit a TV show? Certainly I didn't know that either." He made two back to back. It took three years and produced about 260 hours of television. "When I came out, I was lucky enough to really understand how to make TV shows."

Dolphin spent its first two decades as an independent production company, best known for family content and a long partnership with Nickelodeon that included "Zoey 101," [nominated for the Outstanding Children's Program Emmy in 2005](https://www.televisionacademy.com/awards/nominees-winners/2005/outstanding-childrens-program?ref=ceo.com), with O'Dowd as an executive producer. It was early to digital, posting clips of its kids' shows online and making original series for AOL, Yahoo, and Facebook before anyone called it streaming.

One of those experiments changed the company. In the early 2010s, Dolphin and CAA premiered a scripted digital series at an industry event. The script came from "CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker. Real cast, real production value, even a trailer, which internet shows did not have then. It got polite applause. Then a young makeup artist named Michelle Phan took the stage, and the place erupted.

"At the time, we were almost denigrated as mommy bloggers," O'Dowd said. "These individuals were building followings in the hundreds of thousands, and some were getting into the millions."

The other half of the idea came from the movies. Dolphin made two features in 2014 and 2015, and features taught O'Dowd something 20 years of television had not. "When you make a show for a television network, you make the show, and you hand it in, and they promote it," he said. "When you make a movie, somebody's got to promote it."

So in 2016, at the company's 20-year mark, he started buying PR firms. His reasoning went like this. For most of the 20th century, launching a consumer product in America required a paid media campaign, and a paid media campaign required enormous capital. If earned media, meaning PR and influencers, could do the same work, then product launches would no longer belong exclusively to the companies that could afford television commercials. Dolphin today has 270 employees and four PR firms, each covering a different corner of the business: 42West for film and television, Shore Fire for music, The Door for chefs, hospitality, and consumer products, and Elle Communications for impact work. In February 2025, Observer named Dolphin [Agency of the Year](https://dolphinentertainment.com/press/dolphin-nasdaqdlpn-named-agency-of-the-year-on-the-2025-observer-pr-power-list/?ref=ceo.com) atop its PR Power List.

His favorite piece of evidence is a skincare company. Naturium launched in 2019 through a Los Angeles brand accelerator, and Susan Yara, an early beauty YouTuber, joined as a founder in 2020\. For years, its marketing consisted of Yara and a collective of dermatologists making influencer content. In 2023, [e.l.f. Beauty acquired Naturium for $355 million](https://investor.elfbeauty.com/stock-and-financial/press-releases/landing-news/2023/elf-beauty-announces-definitive-agreement-acquire-naturium?ref=ceo.com). "She did it entirely with earned media," O'Dowd said. "It's what you can do today that you couldn't have done when I started." Yara sold on a Friday and joined Dolphin as a consultant the following Monday.

He sees the same forces at work in media. Nobody has ever bought a television ad for a podcast or a YouTube show, yet Joe Rogan and Alex Cooper earn tens of millions of dollars a year. Ask anyone under 40 what led them to a cosmetics purchase, he says, and two-thirds of the time the answer is an influencer. The $200 million Marvel and Bond releases still get $200 million paid campaigns. Everything else can now be launched without one.

On AI, he splits the question in two. Dolphin [partnered with Loti AI](https://www.newswire.com/news/dolphin-partners-with-loti-ai-to-protect-brands-talent-and-clients-22450792?ref=ceo.com) to run automated sweeps for clients, finding deepfakes and fake content and mass-sending takedown demands. "You go from whatever you think you could do manually to turning AI on AI." He also uses it daily for first drafts and headline ideas. He draws the line at the work itself: "I don't want to see AI-generated movies from start to finish. I want the human element in the artists behind it."

After 29 years, his management philosophy has mostly reduced to a Mark Twain line: "I'm now an old man, and I've known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened." He tries to hire optimists. "I've never seen a statue erected for a pessimist."

Every CEO.com Podcast conversation ends with the same question: who gave you a chance? O'Dowd is seven feet tall. Basketball paid for his undergraduate degree at Creighton, where he was named a [1st-Team Academic All-American](https://www.unitedway.org/about/leadership/bill-odowd?ref=ceo.com), and the money his parents had saved for college covered law school. When he walked away from the law at 26, he had maybe $15,000 to his name and no debt. He watched classmates with families and loans take jobs they never wanted. He got to take a chance instead.

"There is no Dolphin today without the sacrifice my parents made."

Oh,<00:00:13.896> thanks,<00:00:14.282> Clint.

00:00:14.604 --> 00:00:16.439
Yeah,<00:00:14.926> it's,<00:00:15.103> uh,<00:00:15.505> these<00:00:15.731> are<00:00:15.811> heady<00:00:16.069> days.

00:00:38.563 --> 00:00:45.343
And<00:00:39.140> as<00:00:39.284> a<00:00:39.428> group,<00:00:39.765> they<00:00:39.925> were<00:00:40.310> just<00:00:40.550> named<00:00:40.807> the<00:00:41.207> most<00:00:41.368> powerful<00:00:41.769> PR<00:00:42.009> firm<00:00:42.249> in<00:00:42.314> the<00:00:42.410> country<00:00:42.730> by<00:00:42.891> The<00:00:43.051> Observer,<00:00:44.397> the<00:00:44.494> list<00:00:44.718> we<00:00:44.814> most<00:00:45.055> follow.

00:00:45.455 --> 00:00:47.716
So<00:00:46.001> it's,<00:00:46.898> it's<00:00:46.994> a<00:00:47.042> real<00:00:47.283> treat<00:00:47.523> for<00:00:47.620> us.

00:00:47.780 --> 00:00:52.909
That<00:00:47.860> just<00:00:48.084> happened<00:00:48.357> about<00:00:48.581> 10<00:00:48.742> days<00:00:48.982> ago<00:00:49.303> and<00:00:49.784> has<00:00:49.864> certainly<00:00:50.265> led<00:00:50.425> to<00:00:50.505> a<00:00:50.521> lot<00:00:50.761> of<00:00:50.906> incoming<00:00:51.306> calls,<00:00:51.691> which<00:00:51.852> we're<00:00:52.012> very<00:00:52.413> thankful<00:00:52.749> for.

00:00:53.134 --> 00:00:53.631
Good<00:00:53.310> for<00:00:53.390> you.

00:00:53.775 --> 00:00:54.609
Congratulations.

00:00:54.673 --> 00:00:55.667
Well<00:00:54.897> deserved<00:00:55.394> as<00:00:55.538> well.

00:00:56.516 --> 00:00:59.129
Tell<00:00:56.661> us<00:00:56.773> about<00:00:56.997> Dolphin<00:00:57.382> Entertainment,<00:00:58.023> how<00:00:58.264> you<00:00:58.360> became<00:00:58.680> the<00:00:58.761> CEO.

00:01:02.530 --> 00:01:05.433
Well,<00:01:03.235> I<00:01:03.412> guess<00:01:03.636> it<00:01:03.669> starts<00:01:04.054> with<00:01:04.214> being<00:01:04.438> a<00:01:04.519> failed<00:01:05.016> attorney.

00:01:06.283 --> 00:01:14.817
I<00:01:07.566> graduated<00:01:08.304> law<00:01:08.545> school<00:01:08.946> and<00:01:09.652> always<00:01:09.892> wanted<00:01:10.069> to<00:01:10.149> be<00:01:10.229> a<00:01:10.245> lawyer,<00:01:11.095> Clint,<00:01:11.496> and<00:01:11.994> it's<00:01:12.138> what<00:01:12.395> I<00:01:12.619> answered<00:01:12.876> in<00:01:12.940> kindergarten<00:01:13.533> is<00:01:13.678> what<00:01:13.822> you<00:01:13.854> want<00:01:13.983> to<00:01:14.063> be<00:01:14.159> when<00:01:14.255> you<00:01:14.319> grow<00:01:14.640> up.

00:01:15.282 --> 00:01:19.517
And<00:01:15.378> I<00:01:15.426> went<00:01:15.603> off<00:01:15.779> to<00:01:15.923> law<00:01:16.180> school<00:01:16.565> and<00:01:16.709> then<00:01:17.271> 8<00:01:17.431> months<00:01:17.688> later<00:01:17.945> said,<00:01:18.249> "Boy,<00:01:18.570> I<00:01:18.666> made<00:01:18.827> a<00:01:18.955> big<00:01:19.132> mistake.

00:01:19.693 --> 00:01:33.942
I<00:01:19.709> don't<00:01:20.094> think<00:01:20.254> I'm<00:01:20.351> a<00:01:20.399> very<00:01:20.655> good<00:01:20.816> attorney."<00:01:22.259> But<00:01:22.484> my<00:01:22.596> school<00:01:22.981> taught<00:01:23.382> entertainment<00:01:23.944> law<00:01:25.067> when<00:01:25.211> I<00:01:25.291> was<00:01:25.468> there<00:01:25.869> and<00:01:26.815> it<00:01:27.136> it<00:01:27.794> gave<00:01:27.971> me<00:01:28.115> the<00:01:28.195> bug<00:01:28.500> for<00:01:28.613> the<00:01:28.757> entertainment<00:01:29.239> business,<00:01:29.865> even<00:01:29.961> though<00:01:30.041> I'm<00:01:30.202> a<00:01:30.282> kid<00:01:30.507> from<00:01:30.587> Miami<00:01:30.988> with<00:01:31.309> absolutely<00:01:31.984> zero<00:01:32.594> connections<00:01:33.091> to<00:01:33.187> the<00:01:33.268> entertainment<00:01:33.733> business.

00:01:34.279 --> 00:01:39.994
And<00:01:34.937> I<00:01:35.338> was<00:01:35.499> lucky<00:01:35.724> enough<00:01:35.900> to<00:01:35.981> start<00:01:36.302> Dolphin<00:01:36.703> out<00:01:36.863> of<00:01:36.960> a,<00:01:37.345> I<00:01:37.409> would<00:01:37.522> say<00:01:37.746> a<00:01:37.762> second<00:01:38.228> bedroom,<00:01:38.613> but<00:01:38.693> I<00:01:38.709> think<00:01:38.934> it<00:01:39.111> was<00:01:39.416> my<00:01:39.576> bedroom.

00:01:40.299 --> 00:01:44.922
And,<00:01:41.262> uh,<00:01:41.438> in<00:01:41.519> 1996,<00:01:42.466> and,<00:01:42.867> and<00:01:42.963> here<00:01:43.124> we<00:01:43.284> are,<00:01:43.589> uh,<00:01:43.926> 29<00:01:44.408> years<00:01:44.649> later.

00:01:44.970 --> 00:01:50.363
So,<00:01:45.612> um,<00:01:46.479> and<00:01:46.880> we<00:01:46.976> started<00:01:47.442> in<00:01:47.490> 1996,<00:01:48.822> like<00:01:48.967> what,<00:01:49.224> what<00:01:49.384> were<00:01:49.464> you<00:01:49.609> hoping<00:01:49.850> to<00:01:49.946> accomplish?

00:01:50.588 --> 00:01:54.585
Yeah,<00:01:50.973> it<00:01:51.054> was<00:01:51.230> to<00:01:51.326> be<00:01:51.471> a<00:01:51.535> production<00:01:51.872> company<00:01:52.418> and,<00:01:52.659> and,<00:01:52.996> and<00:01:53.076> that's<00:01:53.301> what<00:01:53.461> we<00:01:53.558> were,<00:01:53.943> uh,<00:01:54.184> and<00:01:54.425> are.

00:01:55.483 --> 00:01:56.702
First<00:01:55.820> and<00:01:55.964> foremost,<00:01:56.429> I'd<00:01:56.542> say.

00:01:56.766 --> 00:02:07.527
But,<00:01:57.472> uh,<00:01:57.648> for<00:01:57.728> those<00:01:57.889> first<00:01:58.194> 20<00:01:58.530> years<00:01:58.851> of<00:01:58.931> Dolphin,<00:02:00.038> um,<00:02:00.776> we<00:02:01.000> built,<00:02:01.337> uh,<00:02:01.722> hopefully<00:02:02.123> a<00:02:02.379> pretty<00:02:02.604> well-known<00:02:03.037> and<00:02:03.117> respected<00:02:03.662> independent<00:02:04.143> production<00:02:04.609> company,<00:02:05.491> um,<00:02:06.292> for<00:02:06.389> television<00:02:07.046> at<00:02:07.191> first.

00:02:07.736 --> 00:02:13.028
We're<00:02:08.073> most<00:02:08.474> known<00:02:08.714> for<00:02:08.874> a<00:02:08.939> very<00:02:09.259> long<00:02:09.516> partnership<00:02:10.061> with<00:02:10.125> Nickelodeon,<00:02:11.104> um,<00:02:11.440> we—<00:02:11.841> and<00:02:11.938> family<00:02:12.467> content.

00:02:13.269 --> 00:02:22.795
We,<00:02:13.525> we<00:02:13.622> were<00:02:13.766> lucky<00:02:14.022> to<00:02:14.167> have<00:02:14.423> a<00:02:14.552> couple<00:02:14.744> of<00:02:14.969> number<00:02:15.193> one<00:02:15.370> series<00:02:15.835> on<00:02:15.931> the<00:02:16.091> air,<00:02:16.332> and<00:02:16.893> we<00:02:17.054> launched<00:02:17.310> a<00:02:17.374> TV<00:02:17.775> movie<00:02:18.096> division<00:02:18.497> with<00:02:18.641> them<00:02:18.978> to<00:02:19.122> produce<00:02:19.539> and<00:02:19.924> sell<00:02:20.582> internationally<00:02:21.464> on<00:02:21.544> these<00:02:21.945> shows<00:02:22.346> and<00:02:22.490> movies.

00:02:23.131 --> 00:02:30.604
And,<00:02:23.452> uh,<00:02:24.094> and<00:02:24.190> then<00:02:24.895> really<00:02:25.537> what<00:02:25.633> a<00:02:25.793> big<00:02:26.018> turning<00:02:26.354> point<00:02:26.595> for<00:02:26.820> us—<00:02:27.156> there<00:02:27.301> would<00:02:27.397> be<00:02:27.557> two<00:02:27.798> probably—<00:02:28.279> we,<00:02:28.583> we<00:02:28.680> were<00:02:28.936> early<00:02:29.401> in<00:02:29.578> digital<00:02:30.043> content.

00:02:30.828 --> 00:02:41.524
Um,<00:02:31.406> I<00:02:31.470> remember<00:02:31.887> when<00:02:32.031> the<00:02:32.127> dad<00:02:32.464> sold<00:02:32.993> YouTube<00:02:33.330> to<00:02:33.474> Google,<00:02:34.356> um,<00:02:34.693> because<00:02:35.078> we<00:02:35.174> had<00:02:35.334> the<00:02:35.414> kid<00:02:35.639> shows<00:02:36.296> and<00:02:36.377> the<00:02:36.457> first—<00:02:37.082> yeah,<00:02:37.323> the<00:02:37.403> first<00:02:37.659> consumers<00:02:38.525> of,<00:02:39.167> um,<00:02:39.600> content<00:02:40.129> online<00:02:40.610> were<00:02:40.706> kids,<00:02:41.251> obviously.

00:02:41.748 --> 00:02:54.946
So<00:02:41.989> we<00:02:42.133> were<00:02:42.294> using,<00:02:43.095> um,<00:02:43.577> platforms<00:02:44.058> like<00:02:44.298> YouTube<00:02:44.731> or<00:02:45.116> early<00:02:45.356> Facebook<00:02:45.918> to<00:02:46.062> promote<00:02:46.383> our<00:02:46.479> kid<00:02:46.703> shows<00:02:47.184> and<00:02:48.309> And<00:02:48.389> then<00:02:48.551> secondly,<00:02:49.130> we<00:02:49.275> got<00:02:49.453> into<00:02:49.614> feature<00:02:50.000> films<00:02:50.355> to<00:02:50.564> expand<00:02:51.080> our<00:02:51.466> brand,<00:02:52.336> you<00:02:52.368> know,<00:02:52.771> our<00:02:52.997> YA<00:02:53.641> family<00:02:54.124> content<00:02:54.608> brand.

00:02:54.994 --> 00:02:58.014
We<00:02:55.107> made<00:02:55.349> a<00:02:55.413> couple<00:02:55.735> of<00:02:55.880> movies<00:02:56.605> in<00:02:56.670> 2014,<00:02:57.350> 2015.

00:02:58.079 --> 00:03:09.266
And<00:02:58.160> so<00:02:58.322> in<00:02:58.403> 2016,<00:02:59.359> we<00:02:59.456> had<00:02:59.618> the<00:02:59.699> idea<00:03:00.023> of,<00:03:00.655> at<00:03:00.753> the<00:03:00.834> 20-year<00:03:01.320> mark<00:03:01.579> of<00:03:01.644> our<00:03:01.806> company,<00:03:02.610> maybe<00:03:02.803> we<00:03:02.964> could<00:03:03.206> grow<00:03:03.689> by<00:03:03.931> acquiring<00:03:05.285> these<00:03:05.462> marketing<00:03:05.946> agencies<00:03:06.655> that<00:03:06.752> we<00:03:06.977> learned<00:03:07.235> what<00:03:07.396> they<00:03:07.622> do<00:03:07.864> because<00:03:08.122> we<00:03:08.267> were<00:03:08.364> promoting<00:03:08.766> these<00:03:08.928> movies.

00:03:10.929 --> 00:03:13.687
And,<00:03:11.174> uh,<00:03:11.582> that's<00:03:12.022> a<00:03:12.088> big<00:03:12.235> difference<00:03:12.561> between<00:03:12.904> TV<00:03:13.230> and<00:03:13.377> movies.

00:03:13.785 --> 00:03:19.195
When<00:03:13.867> you,<00:03:14.128> when<00:03:14.209> you<00:03:14.275> make<00:03:14.454> a<00:03:14.519> show<00:03:14.764> for<00:03:15.040> a<00:03:15.104> television<00:03:15.425> network,<00:03:15.713> you,<00:03:16.115> you<00:03:16.195> make<00:03:16.355> the<00:03:16.435> show<00:03:16.756> and<00:03:16.821> you<00:03:17.125> hand<00:03:17.334> it<00:03:17.478> in<00:03:17.655> and<00:03:17.960> they<00:03:18.120> promote<00:03:18.457> it<00:03:18.746> in<00:03:18.826> the<00:03:18.923> US.

00:03:19.404 --> 00:03:24.699
When<00:03:19.548> you<00:03:19.629> make<00:03:19.821> a<00:03:19.885> movie,<00:03:20.591> um,<00:03:21.089> somebody's<00:03:21.554> got<00:03:21.650> to<00:03:21.731> promote<00:03:22.051> it<00:03:22.148> to<00:03:22.292> get<00:03:22.613> Clint<00:03:22.918> to<00:03:22.998> want<00:03:23.175> to<00:03:23.255> go<00:03:23.335> see<00:03:23.576> it<00:03:23.656> in<00:03:23.752> a<00:03:23.881> theater,<00:03:24.378> right?

00:03:24.924 --> 00:03:31.310
Uh,<00:03:25.822> what—<00:03:26.689> early<00:03:26.945> on<00:03:27.090> in<00:03:27.170> those<00:03:27.411> early<00:03:27.667> days,<00:03:28.069> at<00:03:28.229> what<00:03:28.454> point<00:03:28.582> did<00:03:28.694> you<00:03:28.775> realize,<00:03:29.031> hey,<00:03:29.128> this<00:03:29.352> is<00:03:29.433> going<00:03:29.545> to<00:03:29.673> work,<00:03:30.058> we've<00:03:30.395> got<00:03:30.636> something<00:03:31.037> here?

00:03:31.823 --> 00:03:35.257
What<00:03:31.888> was<00:03:32.064> kind<00:03:32.192> of<00:03:32.224> like<00:03:32.385> the<00:03:32.481> first<00:03:32.802> big,<00:03:33.027> like,<00:03:33.219> accomplishment<00:03:34.006> or<00:03:34.166> big,<00:03:34.487> like,<00:03:35.113> win?

00:03:35.755 --> 00:03:38.546
Yeah,<00:03:36.316> and,<00:03:36.573> and<00:03:36.717> I<00:03:36.814> am<00:03:36.974> definitely<00:03:37.680> living<00:03:38.097> proof.

00:03:38.980 --> 00:03:45.094
I<00:03:39.060> heard<00:03:39.285> once,<00:03:39.766> you<00:03:39.798> know,<00:03:39.942> half<00:03:40.279> of<00:03:40.424> all<00:03:40.520> startups<00:03:41.210> fail<00:03:41.467> in<00:03:41.611> the<00:03:41.691> first<00:03:41.964> year<00:03:42.494> and<00:03:42.590> half<00:03:43.232> of<00:03:43.312> those<00:03:43.537> that<00:03:43.633> make<00:03:43.874> it<00:03:43.954> fail<00:03:44.275> in<00:03:44.420> the<00:03:44.452> second<00:03:44.901> year.

00:03:45.399 --> 00:03:49.814
But<00:03:45.495> if<00:03:45.576> you<00:03:45.640> can<00:03:45.752> make<00:03:46.025> it<00:03:46.122> to<00:03:46.266> year<00:03:46.443> 3,<00:03:46.748> you<00:03:46.844> got<00:03:47.566> pretty<00:03:47.695> much<00:03:48.208> an<00:03:48.353> even<00:03:48.530> chance<00:03:49.011> with<00:03:49.236> any<00:03:49.412> other<00:03:49.637> year.

00:03:50.119 --> 00:03:55.866
I<00:03:50.135> was<00:03:50.376> living<00:03:50.761> month<00:03:51.034> to<00:03:51.114> month<00:03:51.901> as<00:03:52.142> a<00:03:52.222> 26-year-old<00:03:53.667> kid<00:03:54.293> that<00:03:54.887> first<00:03:55.256> year<00:03:55.417> for<00:03:55.577> sure.

00:03:56.139 --> 00:04:01.019
I<00:03:56.460> was<00:03:57.423> ramping<00:03:57.760> up<00:03:57.921> a<00:03:57.985> consulting<00:03:58.563> business<00:03:59.045> before<00:03:59.285> I<00:03:59.366> could<00:03:59.526> produce<00:03:59.847> on<00:03:59.879> my<00:04:00.794> own.

00:04:01.613 --> 00:04:05.803
But<00:04:01.998> if<00:04:02.111> ever<00:04:02.336> there<00:04:02.432> was<00:04:02.592> a<00:04:02.657> time<00:04:02.962> of<00:04:03.042> life<00:04:03.299> to<00:04:03.459> do<00:04:03.524> it,<00:04:04.904> I<00:04:04.984> guess<00:04:05.209> that<00:04:05.322> was<00:04:05.611> it.

00:04:06.333 --> 00:04:23.777
And<00:04:06.494> when<00:04:06.654> I<00:04:06.895> got<00:04:07.376> my<00:04:07.553> first<00:04:08.356> production<00:04:09.303> on<00:04:09.544> my<00:04:09.720> own,<00:04:10.861> If<00:04:11.005> we<00:04:11.230> look<00:04:11.407> back<00:04:11.712> at<00:04:11.808> it<00:04:12.210> today,<00:04:12.869> I'm<00:04:13.013> not<00:04:13.254> sure<00:04:14.218> it<00:04:14.459> should<00:04:14.764> have<00:04:15.086> meant<00:04:15.809> as<00:04:15.985> much<00:04:16.162> as<00:04:16.307> it<00:04:16.387> did<00:04:16.548> to<00:04:16.692> me,<00:04:16.949> but<00:04:17.415> it<00:04:17.496> allowed<00:04:17.849> me<00:04:18.074> to<00:04:18.475> put,<00:04:18.813> I<00:04:18.957> think<00:04:19.214> I<00:04:19.279> got<00:04:19.536> as<00:04:19.680> high<00:04:19.905> as<00:04:20.162> $200,000<00:04:21.431> in<00:04:21.512> the<00:04:21.688> bank<00:04:22.235> and<00:04:22.331> I<00:04:22.572> thought<00:04:23.375> I<00:04:23.456> made<00:04:23.697> it.

00:04:24.018 --> 00:04:36.918
I<00:04:24.243> have<00:04:24.885> more<00:04:25.078> money<00:04:25.448> than<00:04:25.624> I<00:04:25.962> certainly<00:04:26.347> knew<00:04:26.492> what<00:04:26.588> to<00:04:26.669> do<00:04:26.829> with<00:04:27.006> at<00:04:27.135> 28<00:04:27.488> or<00:04:27.568> 29<00:04:28.580> and<00:04:28.982> I<00:04:29.062> could<00:04:29.223> actually<00:04:29.882> afford<00:04:30.428> to<00:04:30.589> hire<00:04:31.022> somebody,<00:04:31.874> heaven<00:04:32.050> forbid,<00:04:32.998> a<00:04:33.111> little<00:04:33.994> bit<00:04:34.139> of<00:04:34.219> blind<00:04:34.621> leading<00:04:34.862> the<00:04:34.942> blind,<00:04:35.328> I<00:04:35.344> think,<00:04:35.585> but<00:04:35.745> I<00:04:35.810> could<00:04:35.922> start<00:04:36.163> a<00:04:36.292> company<00:04:36.613> of<00:04:36.709> two.

00:04:37.577 --> 00:04:41.445
And,<00:04:38.299> and<00:04:38.459> then<00:04:38.652> 3,<00:04:39.118> and<00:04:39.198> not—<00:04:40.081> and,<00:04:40.386> and<00:04:40.562> we<00:04:40.659> just<00:04:40.803> built<00:04:41.060> it<00:04:41.124> from<00:04:41.349> there.

00:04:41.606 --> 00:04:45.266
But<00:04:41.766> I<00:04:41.847> think,<00:04:42.489> I<00:04:42.569> think<00:04:42.729> it<00:04:42.794> was<00:04:43.115> being<00:04:43.275> able<00:04:43.372> to<00:04:43.452> get<00:04:43.676> that<00:04:43.853> first<00:04:44.094> production<00:04:44.495> that<00:04:44.591> I<00:04:44.720> could<00:04:44.816> do<00:04:44.896> on<00:04:45.009> my<00:04:45.218> own.

00:04:45.619 --> 00:04:46.261
What<00:04:45.779> was<00:04:46.020> that?

00:04:46.486 --> 00:04:49.295
It<00:04:46.518> was<00:04:46.726> an<00:04:47.304> English<00:04:47.706> language<00:04:48.332> telenovela.

00:04:49.391 --> 00:04:58.910
I'm<00:04:49.471> a<00:04:49.552> kid<00:04:49.776> from<00:04:49.857> Miami,<00:04:50.146> Florida,<00:04:51.141> and<00:04:51.189> I<00:04:51.221> always<00:04:51.638> admired<00:04:52.120> these<00:04:52.281> telenovelas<00:04:53.083> that<00:04:53.404> to<00:04:53.468> me<00:04:53.789> were<00:04:53.886> the<00:04:54.030> only<00:04:54.287> form<00:04:54.624> of<00:04:54.753> television<00:04:55.331> that<00:04:55.491> the<00:04:55.973> American<00:04:56.679> style<00:04:57.337> does<00:04:57.562> not<00:04:57.803> dominate<00:04:58.461> worldwide.

00:04:59.167 --> 00:05:07.739
The<00:04:59.263> soap<00:04:59.649> opera—<00:04:59.809> we<00:04:59.889> have<00:04:59.986> great<00:05:00.162> soap<00:05:00.403> operas,<00:05:01.029> uh,<00:05:01.190> don't<00:05:01.414> get<00:05:01.511> me<00:05:01.591> wrong,<00:05:01.912> but,<00:05:02.377> um,<00:05:02.939> but<00:05:03.036> I'd<00:05:03.212> say<00:05:03.437> the<00:05:03.597> telenovela<00:05:04.240> format<00:05:04.641> is<00:05:04.785> more<00:05:04.962> popular<00:05:05.443> globally<00:05:06.005> because<00:05:06.391> they<00:05:06.455> have<00:05:06.567> a<00:05:06.647> beginning,<00:05:07.193> middle,<00:05:07.450> and<00:05:07.595> end.

00:05:07.916 --> 00:05:08.140
Mm-hmm.

00:05:08.317 --> 00:05:10.838
And,<00:05:08.959> and,<00:05:09.280> uh,<00:05:09.537> you<00:05:09.617> know,<00:05:09.698> they<00:05:09.778> go<00:05:09.938> for<00:05:10.099> 6<00:05:10.340> months<00:05:10.597> or<00:05:10.661> so.

00:05:10.902 --> 00:05:15.574
And<00:05:10.966> so<00:05:11.207> you<00:05:11.303> could<00:05:11.464> write<00:05:11.721> a<00:05:11.785> better<00:05:12.026> story<00:05:12.331> because<00:05:12.652> you<00:05:12.748> knew<00:05:12.909> you<00:05:13.053> had<00:05:13.166> an<00:05:13.310> ending,<00:05:14.016> as<00:05:14.113> opposed<00:05:14.434> to<00:05:14.675> some<00:05:14.916> of<00:05:14.980> our<00:05:15.156> characters.

00:05:15.718 --> 00:05:21.305
And<00:05:15.815> it's<00:05:16.023> fun<00:05:16.200> to<00:05:16.280> watch,<00:05:16.666> but,<00:05:16.826> you<00:05:16.858> know,<00:05:16.906> they've<00:05:17.083> been<00:05:17.244> married<00:05:17.484> 10<00:05:17.725> times,<00:05:18.127> they<00:05:18.175> have<00:05:18.367> 32<00:05:18.849> kids,<00:05:19.250> they've<00:05:20.117> been<00:05:20.214> adopted<00:05:20.695> by<00:05:20.856> aliens.

00:05:21.659 --> 00:05:22.959
You<00:05:21.819> got<00:05:22.012> to<00:05:22.076> come<00:05:22.140> up<00:05:22.205> with<00:05:22.285> something<00:05:22.590> new<00:05:22.638> every<00:05:22.783> time.

00:05:23.039 --> 00:05:26.010
So<00:05:23.264> when<00:05:23.409> I<00:05:23.505> got<00:05:23.666> a<00:05:23.810> telenovela,<00:05:24.709> it<00:05:24.773> served<00:05:25.046> two<00:05:25.656> purposes.

00:05:26.090 --> 00:05:30.393
It<00:05:26.218> gave<00:05:26.459> me<00:05:26.555> a<00:05:26.572> contract<00:05:27.438> to<00:05:27.535> make<00:05:27.695> a<00:05:27.760> production<00:05:28.113> that<00:05:28.177> would<00:05:28.257> take<00:05:28.482> a<00:05:28.562> year<00:05:28.723> and<00:05:28.819> a<00:05:28.948> half,<00:05:29.349> so<00:05:29.783> it<00:05:29.831> was<00:05:30.007> good<00:05:30.168> money.

00:05:30.650 --> 00:05:33.138
And<00:05:30.730> then<00:05:30.890> secondly,<00:05:31.356> it<00:05:31.452> taught—<00:05:31.854> allowed<00:05:32.175> me<00:05:32.255> to<00:05:32.416> learn<00:05:32.721> production.

00:05:33.299 --> 00:05:34.037
I<00:05:33.379> didn't<00:05:33.523> go<00:05:33.620> to<00:05:33.684> film<00:05:33.861> school.

00:05:34.246 --> 00:05:38.160
And<00:05:34.406> so,<00:05:35.208> uh,<00:05:35.449> to<00:05:35.529> be<00:05:35.642> in<00:05:35.770> charge<00:05:36.123> of<00:05:36.171> something<00:05:36.572> that's,<00:05:37.069> you<00:05:37.134> know,<00:05:37.310> what's<00:05:37.567> a<00:05:37.711> gaffer?

00:05:38.578 --> 00:05:40.294
I<00:05:38.594> don't<00:05:39.235> know,<00:05:39.717> you<00:05:39.957> know.

00:05:40.824 --> 00:05:42.220
And<00:05:40.920> how<00:05:41.080> do<00:05:41.145> you<00:05:41.321> edit<00:05:41.546> a<00:05:41.562> TV<00:05:41.899> show?

00:05:42.621 --> 00:05:43.744
Certainly<00:05:42.925> I<00:05:43.006> didn't<00:05:43.166> know<00:05:43.327> that<00:05:43.567> either.

00:05:43.808 --> 00:05:51.316
So<00:05:44.594> it<00:05:44.626> was<00:05:44.835> really—<00:05:45.492> we<00:05:45.589> did<00:05:45.894> two<00:05:46.214> back<00:05:46.439> to<00:05:46.535> back,<00:05:47.081> um,<00:05:47.803> took<00:05:47.995> 3<00:05:48.204> years<00:05:48.765> of<00:05:48.926> my<00:05:49.102> life<00:05:49.503> to<00:05:49.584> make<00:05:49.760> about<00:05:50.065> 260<00:05:50.691> hours<00:05:50.883> of<00:05:50.947> television.

00:05:51.734 --> 00:05:57.413
And<00:05:52.375> when<00:05:52.488> I<00:05:52.552> came<00:05:52.857> out,<00:05:53.434> I,<00:05:53.835> I<00:05:53.899> was<00:05:54.060> lucky<00:05:54.252> enough<00:05:54.461> to<00:05:54.557> really<00:05:54.798> understand<00:05:55.215> how<00:05:55.295> to,<00:05:55.761> how<00:05:55.921> to<00:05:56.466> make<00:05:57.044> TV<00:05:57.285> shows.

00:05:58.007 --> 00:05:58.761
That's<00:05:58.167> incredible.

00:05:58.969 --> 00:06:05.081
What<00:05:59.082> do<00:05:59.194> you—<00:05:59.290> what,<00:05:59.691> what<00:05:59.772> have<00:05:59.916> you<00:06:00.012> made<00:06:00.397> of<00:06:00.558> like—<00:06:00.879> I,<00:06:01.039> I'm<00:06:01.296> '96,<00:06:01.921> you're<00:06:02.082> probably<00:06:02.499> still<00:06:03.846> movies<00:06:04.344> are<00:06:04.488> king,<00:06:04.889> right?

00:06:05.146 --> 00:06:07.487
Like<00:06:05.370> movies<00:06:05.947> are<00:06:06.092> like<00:06:06.412> the<00:06:07.070> pinnacle.

00:06:08.032 --> 00:06:15.185
And<00:06:08.112> then<00:06:08.337> we<00:06:08.513> get<00:06:08.754> to<00:06:08.850> like<00:06:09.219> this<00:06:09.540> era,<00:06:10.117> maybe<00:06:10.358> in<00:06:10.422> the<00:06:10.518> 2010s,<00:06:11.176> something<00:06:11.480> like<00:06:11.705> that,<00:06:11.945> where<00:06:12.523> television<00:06:13.084> almost<00:06:13.389> kind<00:06:13.549> of<00:06:13.645> surpasses<00:06:14.431> movies<00:06:14.688> in<00:06:14.784> some<00:06:15.009> ways.

00:06:15.249 --> 00:06:16.308
It's<00:06:15.329> like<00:06:15.490> the<00:06:15.570> artistic<00:06:16.131> form.

00:06:16.773 --> 00:06:17.895
I<00:06:16.805> don't<00:06:17.077> really<00:06:17.414> know<00:06:17.575> where<00:06:17.671> we're<00:06:17.799> at.

00:06:17.976 --> 00:06:22.514
I<00:06:18.040> really<00:06:18.216> don't<00:06:18.441> really<00:06:18.617> know<00:06:18.842> where<00:06:19.018> entertainment<00:06:19.804> and<00:06:19.964> media<00:06:20.301> is<00:06:20.397> at<00:06:20.542> in<00:06:20.702> general<00:06:21.279> right<00:06:21.488> now<00:06:21.664> in<00:06:21.744> 2025.

00:06:22.787 --> 00:06:23.589
But<00:06:22.947> what<00:06:23.092> was<00:06:23.268> that?

00:06:23.749 --> 00:06:29.651
What's<00:06:23.974> that<00:06:24.134> been<00:06:24.310> like<00:06:24.551> to<00:06:24.695> kind<00:06:24.856> of<00:06:24.888> see<00:06:25.257> the<00:06:25.593> various<00:06:26.155> forms<00:06:26.876> and<00:06:27.021> formats<00:06:28.143> kind<00:06:28.320> of<00:06:28.400> have<00:06:28.641> their<00:06:28.801> day<00:06:28.961> in<00:06:29.106> the<00:06:29.186> sun?

00:06:29.747 --> 00:06:33.099
And,<00:06:30.068> you<00:06:30.100> know,<00:06:30.244> obviously<00:06:30.549> you've<00:06:30.709> done<00:06:30.806> a<00:06:30.870> lot<00:06:30.982> of<00:06:31.110> TV,<00:06:31.527> Nickelodeon,<00:06:32.073> you've<00:06:32.201> done<00:06:32.393> feature<00:06:32.650> films.

00:06:33.612 --> 00:06:36.416
Which<00:06:33.772> one<00:06:33.932> do<00:06:33.996> you<00:06:34.333> prefer<00:06:35.038> and<00:06:35.198> how<00:06:35.455> do<00:06:35.615> you<00:06:35.759> think<00:06:35.935> it's<00:06:36.080> going<00:06:36.208> now?

00:06:36.640 --> 00:06:37.874
That's<00:06:36.881> about<00:06:37.073> 15<00:06:37.522> questions.

00:06:37.938 --> 00:06:38.387
Apologies.

00:06:38.724 --> 00:06:40.198
Oh<00:06:38.836> no,<00:06:39.140> it's<00:06:39.925> okay.

00:06:40.663 --> 00:06:42.634
You<00:06:40.743> know<00:06:40.903> what<00:06:41.063> you<00:06:41.159> were<00:06:41.223> saying<00:06:41.528> at<00:06:41.624> the<00:06:41.688> start<00:06:41.944> of<00:06:42.009> that<00:06:42.249> question?

00:06:42.682 --> 00:07:01.430
I<00:06:42.746> never<00:06:43.002> thought<00:06:43.563> of<00:06:43.771> my<00:06:44.012> career<00:06:44.428> in<00:06:44.508> that<00:06:44.749> way,<00:06:45.053> but<00:06:45.149> as<00:06:45.229> you<00:06:45.310> get<00:06:45.534> older<00:06:46.431> and<00:06:46.736> now<00:06:46.848> I'm<00:06:46.992> 55,<00:06:47.954> you<00:06:48.018> know,<00:06:48.194> from<00:06:48.354> a<00:06:48.418> company<00:06:48.691> started<00:06:49.155> at<00:06:49.235> 26,<00:06:50.117> I<00:06:50.197> guess<00:06:50.437> the<00:06:50.598> analogy<00:06:51.319> is<00:06:51.783> I<00:06:51.799> think<00:06:52.200> I<00:06:52.280> hear<00:06:52.440> my,<00:06:52.841> and<00:06:52.921> when<00:06:53.081> my<00:06:53.225> dad<00:06:53.418> was<00:06:53.578> alive,<00:06:53.899> he<00:06:54.027> would<00:06:54.123> talk<00:06:54.363> about<00:06:55.164> he<00:06:55.245> was<00:06:55.405> in<00:06:55.549> the<00:06:55.645> land<00:06:55.886> development<00:06:56.430> business<00:06:56.783> in<00:06:56.911> Miami<00:06:57.552> and<00:06:57.953> buy<00:06:58.209> communities<00:06:58.770> and<00:06:59.251> build<00:06:59.972> you<00:07:00.052> know,<00:07:00.436> thousand<00:07:00.773> homes<00:07:01.173> or<00:07:01.237> whatever.

00:07:01.718 --> 00:07:08.431
And<00:07:01.814> so,<00:07:02.375> and<00:07:02.519> he,<00:07:02.840> he<00:07:02.904> was<00:07:03.016> born<00:07:03.256> in<00:07:03.320> 1921,<00:07:04.202> and<00:07:04.298> he<00:07:04.378> talked<00:07:04.762> about<00:07:05.099> the,<00:07:05.563> the<00:07:05.644> change<00:07:06.060> in<00:07:06.140> Miami,<00:07:06.637> you<00:07:07.102> know,<00:07:07.326> our<00:07:07.438> city<00:07:07.887> over<00:07:08.047> the<00:07:08.127> years.

00:07:08.688 --> 00:07:11.748
And,<00:07:09.489> um,<00:07:10.210> and<00:07:10.322> I—<00:07:10.610> it's<00:07:10.931> still<00:07:11.187> home<00:07:11.492> for<00:07:11.572> me.

00:07:12.053 --> 00:07:20.240
Um,<00:07:13.014> and<00:07:13.927> I<00:07:14.055> guess<00:07:14.552> in<00:07:14.632> the,<00:07:15.353> in<00:07:15.818> the<00:07:16.298> film<00:07:16.555> media<00:07:17.035> business,<00:07:17.436> like<00:07:17.596> what<00:07:17.740> you're<00:07:17.853> saying,<00:07:18.157> Clint,<00:07:18.942> it,<00:07:19.134> it<00:07:19.263> really<00:07:19.503> has<00:07:19.759> evolved.

00:07:20.865 --> 00:07:23.941
Um,<00:07:21.826> yeah,<00:07:22.018> movies<00:07:22.403> were<00:07:22.483> undoubtedly<00:07:23.028> the<00:07:23.124> king<00:07:23.348> when<00:07:23.444> I<00:07:23.589> came<00:07:23.765> out.

00:07:24.310 --> 00:07:33.111
Um,<00:07:25.111> and<00:07:25.287> there's<00:07:25.511> still<00:07:25.752> the<00:07:25.848> power<00:07:26.312> of<00:07:26.393> a<00:07:26.489> global<00:07:26.889> theatrical<00:07:27.450> release,<00:07:28.075> you<00:07:28.107> know,<00:07:29.839> of<00:07:29.951> a<00:07:30.095> James<00:07:30.496> Bond,<00:07:30.898> which<00:07:31.395> is<00:07:31.555> an<00:07:31.844> example<00:07:32.245> of<00:07:32.277> a<00:07:32.405> movie<00:07:32.598> franchise.

00:07:33.448 --> 00:07:37.089
One,<00:07:33.560> I<00:07:33.769> love<00:07:33.881> it,<00:07:34.090> but<00:07:34.186> two,<00:07:34.410> we<00:07:34.571> promote<00:07:34.892> it,<00:07:35.004> so<00:07:36.047> I<00:07:36.127> should<00:07:36.432> love<00:07:36.656> it,<00:07:36.833> I<00:07:36.897> guess.

00:07:37.153 --> 00:07:38.485
But<00:07:37.779> I<00:07:37.875> did<00:07:38.036> as<00:07:38.180> a<00:07:38.196> kid.

00:07:39.062 --> 00:07:46.778
And,<00:07:39.463> um,<00:07:40.346> you<00:07:40.378> know,<00:07:40.538> it's,<00:07:40.907> it's<00:07:41.067> very<00:07:41.388> hard<00:07:41.885> to<00:07:42.190> match<00:07:42.768> the<00:07:43.008> global<00:07:43.409> star<00:07:43.891> power<00:07:44.276> of<00:07:44.372> a<00:07:44.452> Tom<00:07:44.837> Cruise,<00:07:45.254> for<00:07:45.334> example,<00:07:46.377> right?

00:07:47.500 --> 00:08:03.314
But<00:07:48.286> I<00:07:48.526> do<00:07:48.719> agree<00:07:49.264> that,<00:07:50.050> um,<00:07:50.612> if<00:07:50.708> you're<00:07:50.852> a<00:07:51.013> writer<00:07:51.334> or<00:07:51.670> director,<00:07:52.553> you<00:07:52.633> know,<00:07:52.793> having<00:07:53.339> a—<00:07:53.836> your<00:07:54.060> own<00:07:54.237> signature<00:07:55.199> prestige<00:07:55.761> TV,<00:07:56.162> whatever<00:07:56.467> that<00:07:56.627> means<00:07:56.884> to<00:07:57.028> you,<00:07:57.445> on<00:07:57.541> a<00:07:57.605> Netflix<00:07:58.247> or<00:07:58.311> an<00:07:58.391> Amazon<00:07:58.969> or<00:07:59.049> an<00:07:59.194> Apple<00:07:59.675> or<00:08:00.156> you<00:08:00.188> know,<00:08:00.557> Disney,<00:08:01.054> then,<00:08:01.374> um,<00:08:01.935> you<00:08:01.967> know,<00:08:02.096> there's<00:08:02.288> just<00:08:02.480> a<00:08:02.496> lot<00:08:02.673> of<00:08:02.737> draw<00:08:02.977> to<00:08:03.074> that.

00:08:03.362 --> 00:08:07.322
You<00:08:03.394> know,<00:08:03.522> we're<00:08:03.619> blessed<00:08:03.923> to<00:08:03.987> have<00:08:04.035> Mike<00:08:04.340> White<00:08:04.597> as<00:08:04.725> a<00:08:04.741> client,<00:08:05.061> for<00:08:05.142> example,<00:08:05.623> and<00:08:05.927> he<00:08:06.087> makes<00:08:06.280> a<00:08:06.344> show<00:08:06.584> called<00:08:06.745> The<00:08:06.825> White<00:08:07.065> Lotus.

00:08:07.386 --> 00:08:08.845
It<00:08:07.450> just<00:08:07.546> premiered,<00:08:07.931> so<00:08:08.043> it's<00:08:08.268> top<00:08:08.524> of<00:08:08.588> mind.

00:08:08.893 --> 00:08:11.762
Just<00:08:09.069> watched<00:08:09.390> it,<00:08:09.646> just<00:08:09.871> watched<00:08:10.111> the<00:08:10.191> first<00:08:10.496> episode<00:08:10.817> of<00:08:10.865> season<00:08:11.153> 3<00:08:11.298> last<00:08:11.554> night.

00:08:11.811 --> 00:08:12.612
Such<00:08:12.115> a<00:08:12.179> great<00:08:12.500> show.

00:08:12.821 --> 00:08:13.718
Yeah,<00:08:13.061> such<00:08:13.318> a<00:08:13.334> great<00:08:13.478> show.

00:08:14.023 --> 00:08:18.512
And<00:08:14.103> I<00:08:14.199> don't<00:08:14.376> know<00:08:14.600> that<00:08:14.744> that's<00:08:15.065> not<00:08:15.786> the<00:08:15.883> pinnacle<00:08:16.347> for<00:08:16.444> a<00:08:16.524> writer-director,<00:08:17.245> if<00:08:17.341> I'm<00:08:17.470> being<00:08:17.710> honest,<00:08:18.287> you<00:08:18.367> know.

00:08:18.560 --> 00:08:21.413
So,<00:08:18.832> right,<00:08:19.634> you<00:08:19.666> know,<00:08:20.195> uh,<00:08:20.371> where<00:08:20.596> will<00:08:20.756> this<00:08:20.996> all<00:08:21.173> go?

00:08:21.493 --> 00:08:22.503
That'll<00:08:21.718> be<00:08:21.814> a<00:08:21.894> great<00:08:22.135> question.

00:08:22.696 --> 00:08:25.197
Or<00:08:23.081> more<00:08:23.257> consolidation<00:08:24.058> to<00:08:24.139> come,<00:08:24.780> probably.

00:08:25.261 --> 00:08:29.916
But<00:08:25.630> Yeah,<00:08:26.047> I<00:08:26.159> do<00:08:26.304> think<00:08:26.545> it<00:08:26.769> opens<00:08:27.171> up,<00:08:27.524> it's<00:08:27.973> not<00:08:28.455> just<00:08:28.856> movies<00:08:29.194> anymore,<00:08:29.595> I<00:08:29.755> think.

00:08:30.076 --> 00:08:39.163
What<00:08:30.221> have<00:08:30.398> you<00:08:30.622> learned<00:08:30.895> about<00:08:31.184> marketing<00:08:31.842> and<00:08:32.003> promoting,<00:08:32.950> like<00:08:33.271> promoting<00:08:33.689> a<00:08:33.785> movie<00:08:34.475> that<00:08:34.716> may<00:08:35.037> be<00:08:35.310> applicable<00:08:35.936> to<00:08:36.033> like<00:08:36.257> those<00:08:36.482> who<00:08:36.578> run<00:08:36.803> companies,<00:08:37.782> launch<00:08:38.087> products,<00:08:38.569> things<00:08:38.810> like<00:08:38.986> that?

00:08:39.227 --> 00:08:43.562
Like<00:08:39.613> what<00:08:40.335> all<00:08:40.576> goes<00:08:40.977> into<00:08:41.379> promoting<00:08:41.876> a<00:08:41.892> movie<00:08:42.342> and<00:08:42.438> being<00:08:42.663> successful<00:08:43.209> at<00:08:43.385> that?

00:08:43.706 --> 00:09:00.992
Yeah,<00:08:44.188> I<00:08:44.284> think<00:08:44.445> there<00:08:44.670> are<00:08:44.830> some<00:08:45.071> great<00:08:45.312> analogies<00:08:45.906> to,<00:08:46.195> you<00:08:46.227> know,<00:08:46.371> consumer<00:08:46.837> product<00:08:47.174> launches<00:08:47.720> or,<00:08:47.816> you<00:08:47.913> know,<00:08:48.202> effectively<00:08:48.763> a<00:08:48.779> movie<00:08:49.245> or<00:08:49.341> a<00:08:49.357> streaming<00:08:49.759> series<00:08:50.208> is,<00:08:50.770> you<00:08:51.284> know,<00:08:51.589> what<00:08:51.749> I<00:08:51.894> will<00:08:52.135> say<00:08:52.392> is<00:08:52.713> much<00:08:52.937> like<00:08:53.130> a<00:08:53.275> product<00:08:53.997> launch,<00:08:54.463> I'd<00:08:54.655> say,<00:08:55.522> versus<00:08:56.003> a<00:08:56.067> continuous<00:08:56.950> marketing<00:08:57.367> plan<00:08:57.768> for<00:08:57.848> an<00:08:57.928> existing<00:08:58.329> product<00:08:58.714> that'll<00:08:58.955> be<00:08:59.131> in<00:08:59.356> market<00:08:59.677> for<00:08:59.789> 40<00:09:00.479> years,<00:09:00.832> right?

00:09:01.197 --> 00:09:03.799
You<00:09:01.217> know,<00:09:01.377> you're<00:09:01.537> driving<00:09:02.163> audience<00:09:02.644> to<00:09:02.821> a<00:09:02.837> singular<00:09:03.607> date.

00:09:04.248 --> 00:09:08.997
And<00:09:04.329> certainly<00:09:04.746> on<00:09:04.826> a<00:09:04.906> movie,<00:09:05.532> this<00:09:05.692> has<00:09:05.788> been<00:09:06.013> true<00:09:06.671> forever,<00:09:07.216> but<00:09:07.457> it's<00:09:08.178> as<00:09:08.355> true<00:09:08.596> today.

00:09:09.301 --> 00:09:14.242
You<00:09:09.382> know,<00:09:09.478> the<00:09:09.558> more<00:09:09.943> of<00:09:10.039> an<00:09:10.184> audience<00:09:10.504> you<00:09:10.601> can<00:09:10.761> get<00:09:10.986> there<00:09:11.146> on<00:09:11.306> Friday<00:09:11.659> night,<00:09:12.205> the<00:09:12.526> higher<00:09:12.846> the<00:09:12.943> likelihood<00:09:13.408> the<00:09:13.504> movie<00:09:13.713> will<00:09:13.905> do<00:09:14.114> well.

00:09:14.595 --> 00:09:22.648
Um,<00:09:14.771> because,<00:09:15.557> you<00:09:15.589> know,<00:09:15.670> nowadays<00:09:16.199> you—<00:09:17.017> most<00:09:17.402> movies,<00:09:17.723> I'd<00:09:17.819> say<00:09:17.964> with<00:09:18.060> 90%<00:09:18.541> accuracy,<00:09:19.247> you<00:09:19.343> can<00:09:19.503> predict<00:09:19.888> what<00:09:19.985> the<00:09:20.065> final<00:09:20.450> box<00:09:20.771> office<00:09:21.011> will<00:09:21.108> be<00:09:21.268> just<00:09:21.461> from<00:09:21.573> the<00:09:21.653> first<00:09:22.070> Friday<00:09:22.407> night.

00:09:22.696 --> 00:09:23.546
Used<00:09:22.808> to<00:09:22.856> be<00:09:22.952> opening<00:09:23.273> weekend.

00:09:23.594 --> 00:09:29.528
Now<00:09:23.754> you<00:09:23.835> can—<00:09:24.236> you'll<00:09:24.396> know<00:09:24.540> what<00:09:24.621> your<00:09:24.781> opening<00:09:25.022> weekend<00:09:25.294> is<00:09:25.342> going<00:09:25.439> to<00:09:25.519> be,<00:09:25.679> and<00:09:25.984> within<00:09:26.241> a<00:09:26.646> 90%<00:09:26.903> correct<00:09:27.708> rate,<00:09:27.950> you'll<00:09:28.111> know<00:09:28.272> your<00:09:28.417> multiple<00:09:28.819> you<00:09:28.900> could<00:09:28.997> apply<00:09:29.238> to<00:09:29.335> that.

00:09:29.576 --> 00:09:35.502
So<00:09:30.043> you're<00:09:30.446> trying<00:09:30.848> to<00:09:30.929> build<00:09:31.412> not<00:09:31.573> just<00:09:31.815> massive<00:09:32.217> awareness,<00:09:32.700> but<00:09:33.344> to<00:09:33.570> use<00:09:33.747> marketing<00:09:34.069> terms,<00:09:34.471> the<00:09:34.568> purchase<00:09:34.955> funnel,<00:09:35.196> right?

00:09:35.583 --> 00:09:39.479
You<00:09:35.663> want<00:09:35.840> people<00:09:36.050> to<00:09:36.162> consider<00:09:37.032> it<00:09:37.128> and<00:09:37.193> then<00:09:37.837> want<00:09:38.014> to<00:09:38.561> acquire<00:09:39.222> it.

00:09:41.073 --> 00:09:44.616
And<00:09:41.234> so<00:09:41.411> it<00:09:41.637> does<00:09:41.862> translate<00:09:42.281> very<00:09:42.458> nicely<00:09:42.844> into<00:09:43.569> many<00:09:43.811> consumer<00:09:44.213> products.

00:09:44.680 --> 00:09:57.512
And<00:09:44.761> I<00:09:44.777> think<00:09:44.938> that's<00:09:45.179> why<00:09:45.826> with<00:09:46.248> our<00:09:46.395> companies,<00:09:46.866> for<00:09:46.947> example,<00:09:47.435> each<00:09:47.597> one<00:09:47.760> of<00:09:47.841> our<00:09:47.922> PR<00:09:48.589> firms<00:09:49.304> has<00:09:49.580> a<00:09:49.710> consumer<00:09:50.117> products<00:09:50.474> expertise<00:09:51.027> too,<00:09:51.514> because<00:09:53.026> you<00:09:53.058> know,<00:09:53.186> in<00:09:53.266> the<00:09:53.362> movie<00:09:53.586> side,<00:09:54.227> it<00:09:54.468> came<00:09:54.644> straight<00:09:55.029> out<00:09:55.189> of<00:09:55.365> let's<00:09:55.589> launch<00:09:55.846> consumer<00:09:56.166> products<00:09:56.551> with<00:09:56.711> the<00:09:56.791> movie<00:09:57.047> launch,<00:09:57.288> right?

00:09:57.929 --> 00:10:04.050
But<00:09:58.073> now<00:09:58.265> we,<00:09:58.810> we<00:09:58.954> launch<00:09:59.211> consumer<00:09:59.595> products<00:09:59.916> for<00:10:00.428> a<00:10:00.493> wide<00:10:00.733> variety<00:10:01.037> of<00:10:01.133> companies<00:10:01.518> throughout<00:10:01.758> the<00:10:01.838> year<00:10:02.015> because<00:10:02.271> it's,<00:10:02.576> it's,<00:10:02.832> it's<00:10:03.056> a<00:10:03.120> similar<00:10:03.617> discipline.

00:10:04.162 --> 00:10:09.353
How<00:10:04.258> can<00:10:04.418> you<00:10:04.643> create<00:10:05.043> the<00:10:05.139> heat<00:10:05.620> towards<00:10:06.101> the<00:10:06.245> drop<00:10:06.742> date<00:10:07.222> that<00:10:07.383> gets<00:10:07.639> it<00:10:07.719> to<00:10:07.863> be<00:10:08.023> word<00:10:08.264> of<00:10:08.328> mouth<00:10:08.745> when<00:10:08.841> it<00:10:08.985> launches?

00:10:09.450 --> 00:10:10.523
Yeah,<00:10:09.626> how<00:10:09.786> do<00:10:09.930> you<00:10:10.026> do<00:10:10.187> that<00:10:10.427> though?

00:10:10.812 --> 00:10:14.048
Well,<00:10:10.988> that's<00:10:11.228> the<00:10:11.372> alchemy<00:10:11.789> of,<00:10:12.013> uh,<00:10:12.414> you<00:10:12.510> know,<00:10:13.007> nobody<00:10:13.391> knows<00:10:13.696> anything.

00:10:14.112 --> 00:10:16.676
I<00:10:14.176> think<00:10:14.241> it<00:10:14.273> was,<00:10:14.577> uh,<00:10:15.074> William<00:10:15.394> Goldman's<00:10:15.859> line<00:10:16.051> in<00:10:16.099> the<00:10:16.179> film<00:10:16.356> business.

00:10:16.740 --> 00:10:33.349
But,<00:10:17.157> you<00:10:17.253> know,<00:10:17.541> it's,<00:10:17.862> uh,<00:10:18.118> I<00:10:18.262> will<00:10:18.439> say<00:10:18.679> though,<00:10:19.144> and<00:10:19.720> in<00:10:20.698> a<00:10:20.763> fascinating<00:10:21.726> investment<00:10:22.224> thesis<00:10:22.593> that'd<00:10:22.914> be<00:10:23.010> good<00:10:23.171> to<00:10:23.235> share<00:10:23.476> with<00:10:23.636> you<00:10:23.733> and<00:10:24.198> see<00:10:24.375> what<00:10:24.519> you<00:10:24.616> think,<00:10:24.856> honestly,<00:10:25.258> Clint,<00:10:25.498> is,<00:10:25.884> you<00:10:25.916> know,<00:10:26.060> in<00:10:26.125> the<00:10:26.365> old<00:10:26.702> days,<00:10:27.361> I'm<00:10:27.585> talking<00:10:27.778> about<00:10:28.372> when<00:10:28.533> I<00:10:28.549> was<00:10:28.709> coming<00:10:28.950> out,<00:10:29.255> you<00:10:29.287> know,<00:10:29.592> let's<00:10:29.817> go<00:10:30.218> pre-internet<00:10:30.876> for<00:10:31.021> a<00:10:31.037> second,<00:10:31.422> certainly<00:10:31.904> pre-mobile<00:10:32.482> internet.

00:10:33.846 --> 00:10:40.155
If<00:10:33.943> you<00:10:34.071> were<00:10:34.103> going<00:10:34.232> to<00:10:34.312> launch<00:10:34.553> a<00:10:34.585> consumer<00:10:34.970> product<00:10:35.387> in<00:10:35.452> this<00:10:35.676> country,<00:10:36.479> you<00:10:36.559> needed<00:10:36.832> a<00:10:36.961> lot<00:10:37.137> of<00:10:37.202> capital<00:10:37.860> because<00:10:38.325> you<00:10:38.406> were<00:10:38.486> going<00:10:38.566> to<00:10:38.743> do<00:10:38.903> it<00:10:38.983> with<00:10:39.128> a<00:10:39.208> paid<00:10:39.465> media<00:10:39.786> campaign.

00:10:41.295 --> 00:10:56.311
And<00:10:41.889> so<00:10:42.756> I<00:10:42.836> think<00:10:43.013> about<00:10:43.719> Mark<00:10:43.944> Pritchard,<00:10:44.666> you<00:10:44.715> know,<00:10:44.923> legendary<00:10:45.341> CMO<00:10:45.806> still<00:10:46.047> at<00:10:46.127> Procter<00:10:46.529> Gamble<00:10:47.010> or<00:10:47.556> you<00:10:47.588> had<00:10:47.732> a<00:10:47.748> new<00:10:47.909> laundry<00:10:48.294> detergent<00:10:49.095> and<00:10:49.191> you're<00:10:49.336> going<00:10:49.480> to<00:10:49.721> introduce<00:10:50.041> it<00:10:50.138> to<00:10:50.362> the<00:10:50.458> American<00:10:50.859> consumer,<00:10:51.565> how<00:10:51.725> exactly<00:10:52.366> were<00:10:52.527> you<00:10:52.767> going<00:10:53.024> to<00:10:53.248> do<00:10:53.425> that<00:10:53.890> in<00:10:53.970> the<00:10:54.050> '60s,<00:10:54.483> '70s,<00:10:55.173> '80s,<00:10:55.750> mid-'90s?

00:10:56.776 --> 00:11:02.004
Um,<00:10:56.968> and<00:10:57.113> that<00:10:57.257> was<00:10:57.353> just<00:10:57.514> going<00:10:57.610> to<00:10:57.674> be<00:10:58.476> a<00:10:58.556> conversation<00:10:59.181> with<00:10:59.294> your<00:10:59.422> ad<00:10:59.614> agency<00:11:00.079> about<00:11:00.320> the<00:11:00.464> optimal<00:11:01.202> media<00:11:01.506> plan,<00:11:01.779> right?

00:11:02.404 --> 00:11:07.375
From<00:11:02.950> heavy<00:11:03.286> TV<00:11:03.607> commercials<00:11:04.072> probably,<00:11:04.890> but<00:11:05.034> then<00:11:05.211> also<00:11:05.515> radio,<00:11:06.092> billboard,<00:11:06.654> you<00:11:06.766> know,<00:11:06.894> paid<00:11:07.199> media.

00:11:07.600 --> 00:11:19.639
And<00:11:08.257> the<00:11:08.418> light<00:11:08.738> bulb<00:11:08.963> that<00:11:09.139> went<00:11:09.364> off<00:11:09.540> for<00:11:09.764> me,<00:11:10.326> right<00:11:10.502> or<00:11:10.582> wrong,<00:11:10.967> you<00:11:11.063> know,<00:11:11.448> in<00:11:11.544> 2016,<00:11:12.378> I<00:11:12.394> was<00:11:12.523> 20<00:11:12.891> years<00:11:13.148> in<00:11:13.228> the<00:11:13.372> Dolphin<00:11:14.094> and<00:11:14.351> we<00:11:14.495> were<00:11:15.072> knock<00:11:15.376> on<00:11:15.473> wood,<00:11:15.713> a<00:11:15.873> pretty<00:11:16.194> well-known<00:11:16.755> independent<00:11:17.476> production<00:11:18.037> distribution<00:11:18.678> finance<00:11:19.319> company.

00:11:19.944 --> 00:11:23.886
And<00:11:20.040> we'd<00:11:20.200> just<00:11:20.393> done<00:11:20.521> those<00:11:20.681> movies,<00:11:20.986> like<00:11:21.162> I<00:11:21.178> said,<00:11:21.466> and<00:11:21.723> we<00:11:21.803> saw<00:11:22.508> having<00:11:22.764> to<00:11:22.845> market<00:11:23.341> to<00:11:23.486> the<00:11:23.566> consumer.

00:11:24.127 --> 00:11:36.290
The<00:11:24.591> other<00:11:24.928> half<00:11:25.248> of<00:11:25.280> the<00:11:25.345> light<00:11:25.569> bulb<00:11:25.793> before<00:11:25.986> it<00:11:26.114> went<00:11:26.274> off<00:11:26.450> was,<00:11:26.931> you<00:11:27.011> know,<00:11:27.492> I'd<00:11:27.652> seen<00:11:28.213> early<00:11:28.454> Facebook<00:11:29.255> when<00:11:29.367> it<00:11:29.399> was<00:11:29.575> at<00:11:29.976> Harvard's<00:11:30.297> campus<00:11:30.697> and<00:11:30.777> then<00:11:32.300> Ivy<00:11:32.476> League<00:11:32.941> and<00:11:33.021> then<00:11:33.726> .edu<00:11:34.704> and<00:11:34.848> then<00:11:35.088> when<00:11:35.200> it<00:11:35.409> opened<00:11:35.649> up<00:11:35.761> to<00:11:35.842> the<00:11:35.970> public.

00:11:36.531 --> 00:11:41.531
And<00:11:36.931> I<00:11:37.011> remember<00:11:38.390> early<00:11:38.790> marketing<00:11:39.255> efforts<00:11:39.832> when<00:11:39.992> we<00:11:40.217> were<00:11:40.617> early<00:11:41.034> in<00:11:41.194> digital.

00:11:41.755 --> 00:11:44.864
I'd<00:11:41.915> say<00:11:42.220> other<00:11:42.396> than<00:11:42.540> the<00:11:42.620> family<00:11:42.957> business,<00:11:43.278> Dolphin<00:11:43.534> again<00:11:43.742> was<00:11:44.079> early<00:11:44.319> in<00:11:44.479> digital.

00:11:45.730 --> 00:11:47.736
That'd<00:11:45.842> probably<00:11:46.067> be<00:11:46.163> the<00:11:46.243> second<00:11:46.564> thing<00:11:46.709> we<00:11:46.789> were<00:11:46.902> known<00:11:47.126> for<00:11:47.287> in<00:11:47.351> Hollywood.

00:11:47.929 --> 00:12:00.100
And<00:11:48.025> so<00:11:48.411> we<00:11:48.555> were<00:11:48.716> all<00:11:49.053> experimenting,<00:11:50.016> but<00:11:50.498> Dolphin<00:11:50.899> had<00:11:51.060> a<00:11:51.124> unique<00:11:51.767> partnership<00:11:52.345> where<00:11:52.906> with<00:11:53.051> a<00:11:53.067> talent<00:11:53.388> agency<00:11:53.790> named<00:11:53.966> CAA,<00:11:54.512> where<00:11:54.737> they<00:11:54.897> were<00:11:54.994> just<00:11:55.122> starting<00:11:55.459> their<00:11:55.556> digital<00:11:55.941> group<00:11:56.134> and<00:11:56.278> we<00:11:56.358> made<00:11:56.583> a<00:11:56.599> few<00:11:56.824> shows<00:11:57.097> together<00:11:57.563> and<00:11:58.109> we<00:11:58.205> were<00:11:58.365> putting<00:11:58.687> them<00:11:59.168> without<00:11:59.505> a<00:11:59.634> business<00:11:59.891> plan.

00:12:00.597 --> 00:12:04.836
You<00:12:00.774> know,<00:12:00.838> this<00:12:01.015> is<00:12:01.095> 2011,<00:12:01.994> 2012,<00:12:02.765> 2013,<00:12:04.146> no<00:12:04.386> business<00:12:04.691> plan.

00:12:05.029 --> 00:12:08.400
This<00:12:05.189> is<00:12:05.414> 2<00:12:05.591> or<00:12:05.671> 3<00:12:05.815> years<00:12:06.072> before<00:12:07.020> Netflix<00:12:07.517> put<00:12:07.742> House<00:12:07.919> of<00:12:07.983> Cards<00:12:08.304> on.

00:12:08.625 --> 00:12:11.917
And<00:12:09.444> we<00:12:09.524> were<00:12:09.605> making<00:12:09.990> these<00:12:10.102> shows<00:12:10.648> for<00:12:10.809> a<00:12:10.825> million<00:12:11.210> bucks,<00:12:11.467> $2<00:12:11.612> million.

00:12:12.398 --> 00:12:20.660
And,<00:12:12.960> you<00:12:12.992> know,<00:12:13.137> we<00:12:13.281> released<00:12:13.924> one<00:12:14.754> on<00:12:15.077> AOL,<00:12:17.246> on<00:12:17.909> Yahoo,<00:12:19.349> on<00:12:19.835> Facebook.

00:12:21.048 --> 00:12:26.856
And<00:12:21.307> to<00:12:21.388> show<00:12:21.696> you,<00:12:21.874> just,<00:12:22.262> we<00:12:22.359> were<00:12:22.586> all<00:12:22.845> just,<00:12:23.492> there<00:12:23.589> were<00:12:23.735> a<00:12:23.799> handful<00:12:24.236> of<00:12:24.301> us<00:12:24.350> that<00:12:24.544> were<00:12:24.608> trying<00:12:24.932> this,<00:12:25.110> maybe<00:12:25.287> not<00:12:25.514> even,<00:12:25.756> there<00:12:25.918> might<00:12:26.064> have<00:12:26.144> been<00:12:26.306> 3<00:12:26.468> or<00:12:26.500> 4<00:12:26.662> of<00:12:26.743> us.

00:12:27.115 --> 00:12:34.227
And<00:12:27.535> we,<00:12:28.570> um,<00:12:29.395> and<00:12:29.475> we<00:12:29.637> put<00:12:29.864> out<00:12:30.203> installments<00:12:30.931> of<00:12:31.012> 6<00:12:31.594> minutes<00:12:32.280> a<00:12:32.457> week<00:12:32.955> thinking<00:12:33.342> it<00:12:33.422> would<00:12:33.519> hook<00:12:33.760> the<00:12:33.840> viewer.

00:12:34.323 --> 00:12:36.753
And<00:12:34.404> then<00:12:34.565> you're<00:12:34.661> like,<00:12:34.967> should<00:12:35.144> we<00:12:35.224> just<00:12:35.772> throw<00:12:35.949> it<00:12:36.077> all<00:12:36.254> up<00:12:36.415> at<00:12:36.496> once?

00:12:36.818 --> 00:12:39.586
You<00:12:36.914> know,<00:12:37.139> like,<00:12:37.461> we<00:12:37.606> didn't<00:12:37.767> know<00:12:37.848> what<00:12:37.928> we<00:12:37.992> were<00:12:38.041> doing,<00:12:38.266> Clint,<00:12:38.845> is<00:12:38.974> my<00:12:39.054> only<00:12:39.232> point.

00:12:40.036 --> 00:12:41.439
But<00:12:40.599> no<00:12:40.825> one<00:12:40.970> does,<00:12:41.245> man.

00:12:41.552 --> 00:12:42.151
That's,<00:12:41.811> that's<00:12:42.038> right.

00:12:42.216 --> 00:12:42.896
Those<00:12:42.410> days<00:12:42.540> you<00:12:42.572> just<00:12:42.653> didn't<00:12:42.815> know.

00:12:42.944 --> 00:12:43.915
And<00:12:42.993> would<00:12:43.057> people<00:12:43.171> even<00:12:43.236> watch<00:12:43.300> something<00:12:43.478> on<00:12:43.543> the<00:12:43.673> internet?

00:12:43.996 --> 00:12:47.331
And,<00:12:44.142> you<00:12:44.191> know,<00:12:44.239> did<00:12:46.370> have<00:12:46.482> download<00:12:46.882> speeds.

00:12:47.604 --> 00:12:48.774
And<00:12:47.684> now<00:12:47.908> you<00:12:47.956> don't<00:12:48.101> even<00:12:48.213> ask<00:12:48.325> yourself<00:12:48.710> that.

00:12:48.822 --> 00:13:07.929
So,<00:12:49.207> so<00:12:49.447> where<00:12:49.607> I<00:12:49.624> was<00:12:49.768> going<00:12:50.072> with<00:12:50.169> that<00:12:50.393> is<00:12:50.569> so,<00:12:50.730> but<00:12:50.826> in<00:12:50.890> the<00:12:51.114> course<00:12:51.531> of<00:12:51.675> that,<00:12:52.333> we<00:12:52.573> did<00:12:53.519> a<00:12:53.599> presentation<00:12:54.256> at<00:12:55.218> what<00:12:55.362> were<00:12:55.458> called<00:12:55.699> the<00:12:55.859> New<00:12:56.019> Fronts<00:12:56.564> and<00:12:57.302> we<00:12:57.638> CA<00:12:57.863> and<00:12:58.103> Dolphin<00:12:58.424> threw<00:12:58.584> a<00:12:58.664> party<00:12:59.289> and<00:13:00.107> we<00:13:00.203> had<00:13:00.347> a<00:13:00.363> presentation<00:13:01.069> and<00:13:01.213> we<00:13:01.373> had<00:13:01.550> a<00:13:01.566> scripted<00:13:02.191> show<00:13:02.832> that<00:13:03.136> was<00:13:03.457> for<00:13:03.794> those<00:13:04.034> early<00:13:04.194> days<00:13:04.499> was<00:13:04.675> the<00:13:04.996> pinnacle<00:13:05.733> of<00:13:05.878> production<00:13:06.358> value<00:13:07.320> for<00:13:07.480> the<00:13:07.641> internet.

00:13:08.122 --> 00:13:12.225
We<00:13:08.266> had<00:13:08.763> a<00:13:08.987> script<00:13:09.324> from<00:13:09.789> Anthony<00:13:09.981> Zyker,<00:13:10.430> who's<00:13:10.606> a<00:13:10.831> tremendously<00:13:11.392> well-known<00:13:11.728> showrunner.

00:13:12.369 --> 00:13:13.187
He<00:13:12.418> created<00:13:12.642> CSI.

00:13:13.652 --> 00:13:14.857
We<00:13:13.749> had<00:13:13.877> like<00:13:14.054> a<00:13:14.070> CSI<00:13:14.536> movie.

00:13:15.242 --> 00:13:18.984
We<00:13:15.419> had<00:13:15.740> Olivia<00:13:16.061> Martinez<00:13:16.623> as<00:13:16.688> our<00:13:16.848> bad<00:13:17.025> guy<00:13:17.330> who<00:13:17.362> was<00:13:17.812> married<00:13:18.053> to<00:13:18.133> Halle<00:13:18.374> Berry<00:13:18.551> at<00:13:18.631> the<00:13:18.711> time.

00:13:19.033 --> 00:13:25.312
We<00:13:19.177> had<00:13:19.900> a<00:13:19.916> tremendous<00:13:20.398> lead<00:13:20.623> actress<00:13:20.880> named<00:13:21.024> Missy<00:13:21.265> Peregrine<00:13:21.618> who's<00:13:21.843> been<00:13:22.004> on<00:13:22.148> TV<00:13:22.389> for<00:13:22.518> now<00:13:22.646> for<00:13:22.791> like<00:13:22.887> 20<00:13:23.128> years<00:13:23.674> as<00:13:23.995> our<00:13:24.172> lead<00:13:24.397> agent<00:13:24.638> tracking<00:13:24.959> them<00:13:25.055> down.

00:13:25.377 --> 00:13:28.444
I<00:13:25.393> mean,<00:13:25.537> this<00:13:25.698> was,<00:13:26.099> this<00:13:26.404> was<00:13:26.645> a<00:13:26.886> real<00:13:27.545> TV<00:13:27.946> movie,<00:13:28.251> right?

00:13:28.653 --> 00:13:35.495
And<00:13:28.910> we're<00:13:29.071> in<00:13:29.151> the<00:13:29.231> auditorium<00:13:30.259> and<00:13:30.355> we<00:13:30.596> announce<00:13:30.918> ours<00:13:31.303> and<00:13:31.399> we<00:13:31.624> play<00:13:31.865> a<00:13:32.026> trailer<00:13:32.684> which<00:13:32.845> didn't<00:13:33.070> exist<00:13:33.792> for<00:13:33.889> internet,<00:13:34.306> you<00:13:34.451> know,<00:13:34.756> shows<00:13:34.949> at<00:13:35.013> the<00:13:35.093> time.

00:13:35.800 --> 00:13:42.898
And<00:13:36.523> we<00:13:36.619> got<00:13:36.860> polite<00:13:37.342> applause<00:13:38.065> and<00:13:38.145> people<00:13:38.386> are<00:13:38.418> like,<00:13:38.611> oh,<00:13:38.707> that<00:13:38.868> does<00:13:39.012> look—<00:13:39.349> and<00:13:39.430> then<00:13:39.655> the,<00:13:40.153> the<00:13:40.249> next<00:13:40.795> young<00:13:41.036> lady<00:13:41.293> at<00:13:41.389> our,<00:13:41.903> our<00:13:42.016> event<00:13:42.642> came<00:13:42.802> up.

00:13:42.962 --> 00:13:43.972
Her<00:13:43.042> name<00:13:43.139> was<00:13:43.347> Michelle<00:13:43.684> Phan.

00:13:44.181 --> 00:13:45.094
I<00:13:44.229> haven't<00:13:44.405> spoken<00:13:44.710> to<00:13:44.790> her<00:13:44.822> since.

00:13:45.607 --> 00:13:46.970
I,<00:13:45.832> I<00:13:45.928> give<00:13:46.088> her<00:13:46.232> a<00:13:46.329> ton<00:13:46.569> of<00:13:46.649> credit.

00:13:47.034 --> 00:13:54.985
She<00:13:47.194> was<00:13:47.371> a<00:13:47.835> young<00:13:48.797> makeup<00:13:49.150> artist,<00:13:49.374> an<00:13:49.759> OG<00:13:50.801> YouTube<00:13:51.715> influencer<00:13:52.564> who<00:13:52.645> had<00:13:52.821> makeup<00:13:53.141> tutorials,<00:13:54.007> and<00:13:54.087> she's<00:13:54.264> done<00:13:54.424> very<00:13:54.664> well<00:13:54.825> now.

00:13:55.065 --> 00:13:57.438
She<00:13:55.225> must<00:13:55.386> be<00:13:55.466> in<00:13:55.530> her<00:13:56.187> early<00:13:56.428> to<00:13:56.508> mid-30s,<00:13:57.005> I'm<00:13:57.149> guessing.

00:13:57.614 --> 00:13:59.922
And<00:13:58.175> the<00:13:58.351> place<00:13:59.233> erupted.

00:14:00.259 --> 00:14:09.893
And,<00:14:00.980> and<00:14:01.317> when<00:14:01.477> we<00:14:01.782> went<00:14:02.134> to<00:14:02.760> the<00:14:02.904> Streamy<00:14:03.305> Awards,<00:14:03.721> where<00:14:03.866> we<00:14:03.946> were<00:14:04.042> blessed<00:14:04.282> to<00:14:04.427> win<00:14:04.683> that<00:14:04.988> year,<00:14:05.469> and<00:14:05.565> the<00:14:05.725> place<00:14:06.366> erupted<00:14:07.392> for<00:14:07.553> a<00:14:07.569> young<00:14:07.873> lady<00:14:08.210> who<00:14:08.434> had<00:14:08.530> her<00:14:08.691> cat<00:14:09.011> playing<00:14:09.332> on<00:14:09.476> the<00:14:09.556> piano.

00:14:10.117 --> 00:14:28.154
And<00:14:10.214> it,<00:14:10.759> it<00:14:10.999> hit<00:14:11.320> me<00:14:11.881> in<00:14:12.041> 2011,<00:14:12.682> 2012,<00:14:13.131> 2013,<00:14:13.965> that<00:14:14.125> what<00:14:14.462> at<00:14:14.542> the<00:14:14.622> time<00:14:15.648> were<00:14:16.129> almost<00:14:16.706> denigrated<00:14:17.732> as<00:14:18.053> mommy<00:14:18.550> bloggers,<00:14:19.496> and<00:14:20.298> that<00:14:20.538> these<00:14:20.939> individuals<00:14:21.741> were<00:14:21.917> building<00:14:22.382> followings<00:14:23.119> at<00:14:23.200> the<00:14:23.360> time<00:14:23.761> in<00:14:23.841> the<00:14:24.162> hundreds<00:14:24.498> of<00:14:24.578> thousands,<00:14:25.188> get<00:14:25.380> some,<00:14:25.589> we'll<00:14:25.685> get<00:14:26.086> into<00:14:26.262> the<00:14:26.342> millions<00:14:26.903> of<00:14:26.967> followers,<00:14:27.256> of<00:14:27.304> course,<00:14:27.512> today,<00:14:27.929> you<00:14:28.026> know.

00:14:28.474 --> 00:14:36.090
And<00:14:28.571> that,<00:14:29.116> as<00:14:29.276> I<00:14:29.292> swing<00:14:29.693> it<00:14:29.773> all<00:14:29.853> the<00:14:29.933> way<00:14:30.014> around,<00:14:30.430> it<00:14:30.479> was<00:14:30.639> a<00:14:30.719> light<00:14:30.895> bulb,<00:14:31.280> because<00:14:31.601> when<00:14:31.697> 2016<00:14:32.643> hit,<00:14:33.140> you<00:14:33.220> know,<00:14:33.284> my<00:14:33.461> company<00:14:33.862> at<00:14:33.942> the<00:14:34.086> heart<00:14:34.262> of<00:14:34.343> it<00:14:34.439> was<00:14:34.583> used<00:14:34.759> to<00:14:34.888> financing<00:14:35.465> projects,<00:14:35.946> right?

00:14:36.170 --> 00:14:38.752
We<00:14:36.587> did,<00:14:37.148> we<00:14:37.293> financed<00:14:37.854> movies<00:14:38.110> and<00:14:38.190> TV<00:14:38.415> and<00:14:38.511> made<00:14:38.688> it.

00:14:39.056 --> 00:14:55.548
And,<00:14:39.553> and<00:14:39.633> this<00:14:39.778> will<00:14:39.874> sound<00:14:40.499> highfalutin,<00:14:41.076> but<00:14:41.237> it<00:14:41.301> was<00:14:41.461> really<00:14:41.718> just<00:14:41.942> this<00:14:42.119> idea<00:14:42.439> that<00:14:42.744> maybe<00:14:43.802> in<00:14:43.882> the<00:14:43.962> future,<00:14:44.908> earned<00:14:45.404> media<00:14:46.125> of<00:14:46.286> PR<00:14:46.686> and<00:14:46.766> influencer—<00:14:47.327> what's<00:14:47.552> now<00:14:47.664> called<00:14:47.952> influencer<00:14:48.353> marketing<00:14:48.770> or<00:14:48.866> the<00:14:49.074> creator<00:14:49.411> economy—<00:14:50.052> would<00:14:50.276> have<00:14:50.516> an<00:14:50.837> outsized<00:14:51.830> ability<00:14:52.856> to<00:14:53.032> democratize,<00:14:53.897> for<00:14:54.042> lack<00:14:54.218> of<00:14:54.282> a<00:14:54.298> better<00:14:54.522> word,<00:14:54.699> consumer<00:14:55.099> product<00:14:55.404> launches.

00:14:55.724 --> 00:15:13.858
Because<00:14:56.045> you<00:14:56.125> could<00:14:56.301> launch—<00:14:56.846> the<00:14:56.942> theory<00:14:57.247> was<00:14:57.423> you<00:14:57.519> could<00:14:57.647> launch<00:14:57.904> products<00:14:58.609> with<00:14:58.849> the<00:14:59.105> power<00:14:59.666> of<00:14:59.907> this<00:15:00.291> community<00:15:01.028> of<00:15:01.253> influencers,<00:15:02.150> what<00:15:02.246> we<00:15:02.310> call<00:15:02.487> that<00:15:02.711> today,<00:15:03.256> and,<00:15:03.576> and<00:15:04.073> creating<00:15:04.474> hype<00:15:04.810> around<00:15:05.115> PR,<00:15:05.900> which<00:15:05.996> was<00:15:06.220> already<00:15:06.397> being<00:15:06.637> used<00:15:06.957> to<00:15:07.038> complement<00:15:07.823> paid<00:15:07.983> media<00:15:08.239> campaigns,<00:15:08.800> but<00:15:08.961> that<00:15:09.217> it<00:15:09.746> that<00:15:09.923> consumer<00:15:10.324> product<00:15:10.630> launches<00:15:10.967> wouldn't<00:15:11.128> be<00:15:11.288> just<00:15:11.449> the<00:15:11.545> province<00:15:12.027> of<00:15:12.091> the<00:15:12.172> people<00:15:12.397> that<00:15:12.493> had<00:15:12.894> enough<00:15:13.135> money<00:15:13.296> for<00:15:13.441> paid<00:15:13.617> media.

00:15:14.083 --> 00:15:17.007
Um,<00:15:14.420> I<00:15:14.501> would<00:15:14.661> say<00:15:15.850> that's<00:15:16.027> certainly<00:15:16.428> proven<00:15:16.669> true.

00:15:17.858 --> 00:15:23.399
Um,<00:15:18.436> but,<00:15:19.063> uh,<00:15:19.560> that<00:15:19.866> was<00:15:20.364> why<00:15:20.829> the<00:15:20.926> theory<00:15:21.247> came<00:15:21.488> in<00:15:21.536> 2016<00:15:22.275> of<00:15:22.371> building<00:15:22.693> this<00:15:22.918> group<00:15:23.175> of<00:15:23.319> it.

00:15:23.560 --> 00:15:29.471
So<00:15:23.801> what<00:15:23.962> if<00:15:24.122> you<00:15:24.283> could<00:15:24.701> build<00:15:24.877> a<00:15:24.942> family<00:15:25.263> of<00:15:25.648> the<00:15:25.905> best-in-class<00:15:26.869> PR<00:15:27.271> firms<00:15:27.688> and<00:15:27.769> influence<00:15:28.138> marketing<00:15:28.540> and<00:15:28.620> then<00:15:29.021> use<00:15:29.359> it?

00:15:29.600 --> 00:15:30.049
To<00:15:29.744> what<00:15:29.921> end?

00:15:30.242 --> 00:15:31.736
Sure,<00:15:30.499> they'll<00:15:30.724> cross-sell<00:15:31.222> with<00:15:31.383> each<00:15:31.591> other.

00:15:31.784 --> 00:15:39.805
Sure,<00:15:32.154> they'll,<00:15:33.037> um,<00:15:33.214> grow<00:15:33.760> organically,<00:15:34.418> we<00:15:34.563> hope,<00:15:34.900> and<00:15:35.526> and<00:15:35.702> get<00:15:35.943> bigger<00:15:36.247> clients<00:15:36.600> or<00:15:36.728> clients<00:15:36.984> that<00:15:37.081> want<00:15:37.193> to<00:15:37.289> access<00:15:37.850> all<00:15:38.106> of<00:15:38.202> entertainment<00:15:38.715> instead<00:15:39.004> of<00:15:39.068> just<00:15:39.228> one<00:15:39.469> vertical.

00:15:39.869 --> 00:15:41.728
And<00:15:40.030> you're<00:15:40.190> a<00:15:40.270> one-stop<00:15:40.735> shop<00:15:41.007> and<00:15:41.151> all<00:15:41.296> that's<00:15:41.552> true.

00:15:42.017 --> 00:16:01.633
But<00:15:42.754> the<00:15:43.139> point<00:15:43.539> of<00:15:43.700> it<00:15:44.277> was,<00:15:44.581> and<00:15:44.677> what<00:15:44.837> these<00:15:45.062> owners<00:15:45.655> saw<00:15:46.039> was<00:15:46.584> idea<00:15:46.921> that<00:15:47.322> if<00:15:47.482> we<00:15:47.642> could<00:15:47.883> launch<00:15:48.283> products<00:15:48.684> in<00:15:48.764> partnership<00:15:49.245> with<00:15:49.341> our<00:15:49.485> clients,<00:15:49.806> whether<00:15:49.982> it<00:15:50.046> be<00:15:50.190> an<00:15:50.270> individual<00:15:50.751> like<00:15:50.912> Rachel<00:15:51.168> Ray<00:15:51.809> or,<00:15:51.985> you<00:15:52.514> know,<00:15:52.626> a<00:15:52.690> corporation,<00:15:53.492> a<00:15:53.668> studio<00:15:54.213> or<00:15:54.293> whatever,<00:15:55.094> that<00:15:55.239> we'd<00:15:55.335> have<00:15:55.479> a<00:15:55.575> better<00:15:55.752> chance<00:15:56.056> of<00:15:56.120> success<00:15:56.489> because<00:15:56.921> we<00:15:57.018> could,<00:15:57.338> we<00:15:57.482> could<00:15:57.659> bring<00:15:57.899> this<00:15:58.220> earned<00:15:58.540> media<00:15:58.861> power<00:15:59.646> and<00:15:59.742> we<00:15:59.822> could<00:15:59.967> launch<00:16:00.303> it<00:16:00.543> far<00:16:00.768> more<00:16:00.944> cost<00:16:01.281> effectively.

00:16:01.906 --> 00:16:08.015
And<00:16:01.986> that's,<00:16:02.387> that's<00:16:02.611> really<00:16:02.867> the<00:16:03.012> thesis<00:16:03.348> of<00:16:03.412> Dolphin<00:16:03.749> and<00:16:03.829> what<00:16:04.069> in<00:16:04.230> 2016<00:16:05.464> set<00:16:05.592> me<00:16:05.672> down<00:16:05.977> this<00:16:06.154> path<00:16:06.956> to<00:16:07.197> acquire<00:16:07.518> these<00:16:07.742> companies.

00:16:08.480 --> 00:16:16.520
In<00:16:08.625> the<00:16:08.721> consumer<00:16:09.443> product<00:16:09.780> space,<00:16:10.230> I<00:16:10.246> guess<00:16:10.486> the<00:16:10.887> corollary<00:16:11.433> there<00:16:11.674> would<00:16:11.770> be<00:16:12.171> Kickstarter,<00:16:12.877> although<00:16:13.054> I<00:16:13.134> think<00:16:13.359> even<00:16:13.936> films<00:16:14.321> have<00:16:14.562> been<00:16:15.461> launched<00:16:15.862> on<00:16:16.022> Kickstarter.

00:16:16.584 --> 00:16:20.371
And<00:16:17.146> do<00:16:17.210> you<00:16:17.370> know,<00:16:17.627> actually,<00:16:18.253> I'm<00:16:19.376> from<00:16:19.553> Utah,<00:16:19.938> live<00:16:20.050> in<00:16:20.178> Utah.

00:16:25.008 --> 00:16:25.249
Sure.

00:16:25.474 --> 00:16:26.051
Yeah,<00:16:25.650> great.

00:16:26.276 --> 00:16:28.474
Yeah,<00:16:27.014> yeah,<00:16:27.239> yeah,<00:16:27.961> yeah.

00:16:28.763 --> 00:16:39.416
And<00:16:29.501> I<00:16:29.517> don't<00:16:30.223> really<00:16:30.625> know<00:16:31.507> what<00:16:31.732> they<00:16:31.892> create,<00:16:32.229> but<00:16:32.390> I<00:16:32.470> know<00:16:32.695> that<00:16:32.791> their<00:16:32.935> model's<00:16:33.336> really<00:16:33.593> interesting<00:16:33.994> because<00:16:34.299> they<00:16:34.460> are<00:16:35.519> doing<00:16:35.840> kind<00:16:36.000> of<00:16:36.080> like<00:16:36.241> that<00:16:36.450> crowdfunding<00:16:37.187> thing<00:16:37.444> and<00:16:37.604> people<00:16:37.845> are<00:16:37.941> investing<00:16:38.502> in<00:16:38.630> their<00:16:38.807> movies<00:16:39.111> online.

00:16:39.785 --> 00:16:43.024
It's<00:16:39.913> really<00:16:40.090> fast,<00:16:40.555> like<00:16:40.795> all<00:16:40.827> the<00:16:40.955> various<00:16:41.292> ways<00:16:41.533> you<00:16:41.613> can<00:16:41.773> do<00:16:41.918> this<00:16:42.094> now<00:16:42.254> is<00:16:42.399> really<00:16:42.639> fascinating.

00:16:43.281 --> 00:16:45.237
Oh<00:16:43.457> yeah,<00:16:43.762> and<00:16:44.082> we've<00:16:44.259> never<00:16:44.483> done<00:16:44.660> something<00:16:44.964> like<00:16:45.141> that.

00:16:45.301 --> 00:16:46.359
We've<00:16:45.461> never<00:16:45.686> crowdsourced.

00:16:46.423 --> 00:16:51.122
But<00:16:47.209> to<00:16:47.305> your<00:16:47.546> point<00:16:48.091> though,<00:16:48.588> Clint,<00:16:48.989> you<00:16:49.053> know,<00:16:49.374> others<00:16:49.711> have<00:16:50.272> very<00:16:50.448> successfully.

00:16:51.378 --> 00:17:04.142
And,<00:16:51.940> um,<00:16:52.421> when<00:16:52.597> you—<00:16:53.222> and,<00:16:53.399> and<00:16:53.944> what<00:16:54.104> they're<00:16:54.361> trading<00:16:55.227> off<00:16:55.467> of<00:16:55.788> really<00:16:56.125> is<00:16:56.670> the<00:16:56.766> credibility<00:16:57.327> of<00:16:57.472> their<00:16:57.728> quote<00:16:58.434> influencer,<00:16:59.027> in<00:16:59.252> this<00:16:59.412> case,<00:16:59.572> you<00:16:59.604> know,<00:16:59.733> Dallas<00:17:00.053> Jenkins<00:17:00.518> with<00:17:00.615> The<00:17:00.695> Chosen,<00:17:01.336> or<00:17:01.641> others<00:17:01.978> that,<00:17:02.282> you<00:17:02.362> know,<00:17:02.779> other<00:17:02.956> successful<00:17:03.565> product<00:17:03.806> like<00:17:03.982> that.

00:17:04.207 --> 00:17:08.055
And<00:17:04.255> then<00:17:04.367> people<00:17:05.008> are<00:17:05.088> fans<00:17:05.425> of<00:17:05.505> either<00:17:05.730> their<00:17:05.842> shows<00:17:06.307> or<00:17:06.387> their<00:17:06.548> creators<00:17:07.029> and<00:17:07.109> want<00:17:07.237> to<00:17:07.269> support<00:17:07.606> it,<00:17:07.831> you<00:17:07.911> know.

00:17:08.376 --> 00:17:12.402
In<00:17:08.456> our<00:17:08.697> case,<00:17:09.114> we<00:17:09.210> were<00:17:09.354> looking<00:17:09.675> at<00:17:10.317> things,<00:17:10.878> probably<00:17:11.183> a<00:17:11.199> hybrid<00:17:11.600> right<00:17:11.697> in<00:17:11.761> the<00:17:11.841> middle.

00:17:12.483 --> 00:17:28.092
We<00:17:12.803> use<00:17:13.044> either<00:17:13.301> our<00:17:13.509> own<00:17:13.670> capital<00:17:14.392> or<00:17:14.584> do<00:17:14.793> traditional<00:17:15.290> investment<00:17:16.156> vehicles<00:17:16.734> or<00:17:16.878> partnerships<00:17:17.376> with<00:17:17.600> companies<00:17:18.803> to<00:17:19.060> have<00:17:19.301> the<00:17:19.381> capital<00:17:19.798> to<00:17:19.926> launch<00:17:20.183> a<00:17:20.263> product,<00:17:20.985> but<00:17:21.386> we're<00:17:21.627> doing<00:17:21.964> it<00:17:22.269> behind<00:17:22.814> the<00:17:22.910> power<00:17:23.472> of<00:17:23.536> our<00:17:23.776> ability<00:17:24.739> to<00:17:24.916> promote<00:17:25.541> and<00:17:25.958> bring<00:17:26.776> specific<00:17:27.306> influencers<00:17:27.803> in<00:17:27.948> that.

00:17:28.990 --> 00:17:31.461
I'll<00:17:30.274> give<00:17:30.450> you<00:17:30.530> a<00:17:30.771> great<00:17:30.996> example.

00:17:32.680 --> 00:17:38.391
We<00:17:32.776> did<00:17:32.937> not<00:17:33.161> do<00:17:33.258> this<00:17:33.418> deal,<00:17:33.723> but<00:17:33.819> you'll<00:17:33.979> see<00:17:34.156> how<00:17:34.300> we<00:17:34.381> tie<00:17:34.621> in<00:17:34.717> at<00:17:34.846> the<00:17:35.728> end<00:17:36.129> in<00:17:36.225> the<00:17:36.546> consumer<00:17:36.931> product<00:17:37.188> space<00:17:37.733> in<00:17:37.814> skincare.

00:17:38.776 --> 00:17:39.978
A<00:17:38.856> woman<00:17:39.016> named<00:17:39.192> Susan<00:17:39.577> Yara.

00:17:40.058 --> 00:17:42.653
She<00:17:40.699> literally<00:17:41.115> did<00:17:41.532> exactly<00:17:41.997> what<00:17:42.141> we're<00:17:42.237> talking<00:17:42.541> about.

00:17:42.718 --> 00:17:45.810
She,<00:17:43.278> she<00:17:43.423> was<00:17:43.519> an<00:17:43.743> OG<00:17:44.064> makeup<00:17:44.416> influencer,<00:17:44.945> much<00:17:45.105> like<00:17:45.345> Michelle<00:17:45.602> Phan.

00:17:46.002 --> 00:17:47.252
She's<00:17:46.082> probably<00:17:46.483> 40<00:17:46.884> today.

00:17:47.348 --> 00:17:48.726
I<00:17:47.380> mean,<00:17:48.230> God<00:17:48.390> bless<00:17:48.630> her.

00:17:49.271 --> 00:17:51.498
Um,<00:17:49.624> about<00:17:49.848> 4<00:17:50.072> years<00:17:50.313> ago,<00:17:50.889> COVID<00:17:51.194> had<00:17:51.290> hit.

00:17:51.851 --> 00:17:56.433
It<00:17:51.883> was<00:17:52.011> the<00:17:52.075> summer<00:17:52.412> of<00:17:52.492> COVID<00:17:53.052> and<00:17:53.117> she<00:17:53.229> said,<00:17:53.533> you<00:17:53.629> know,<00:17:53.693> I<00:17:53.854> think<00:17:54.014> I'd<00:17:54.158> like<00:17:54.334> to—<00:17:54.495> this<00:17:54.671> is<00:17:54.799> my<00:17:54.895> swing,<00:17:55.232> I'm<00:17:55.328> gonna<00:17:55.857> launch<00:17:56.097> a<00:17:56.177> product.

00:17:56.722 --> 00:18:01.320
Um,<00:17:56.978> because<00:17:57.074> she'd<00:17:57.347> had<00:17:57.475> it,<00:17:57.763> Mixed<00:17:57.940> Makeup<00:17:58.324> Again,<00:17:58.564> her<00:17:58.725> YouTube<00:17:58.981> channel,<00:17:59.221> for<00:17:59.318> maybe<00:17:59.686> 8<00:17:59.846> years,<00:18:00.247> and<00:18:00.327> she<00:18:00.487> was<00:18:00.663> well<00:18:00.824> respected.

00:18:01.368 --> 00:18:06.095
She<00:18:01.465> understood,<00:18:02.090> um,<00:18:02.650> beauty<00:18:02.971> from<00:18:03.163> a<00:18:03.932> more<00:18:04.189> than<00:18:04.333> just<00:18:04.589> an<00:18:04.894> apply<00:18:05.230> the<00:18:05.310> makeup<00:18:05.631> perspective.

00:18:06.332 --> 00:18:06.881
She<00:18:06.352> understood<00:18:06.528> the<00:18:06.688> industry.

00:18:06.993 --> 00:18:09.429
She<00:18:07.137> launched<00:18:07.329> a<00:18:07.394> product<00:18:08.275> in<00:18:08.355> partnership<00:18:08.692> with<00:18:08.836> an<00:18:08.916> incubator.

00:18:10.134 --> 00:18:14.013
So<00:18:10.359> insert<00:18:10.679> a<00:18:10.760> dolphin<00:18:11.160> there<00:18:13.388> called<00:18:13.565> Naturium.

00:18:14.350 --> 00:18:26.756
And<00:18:14.510> the<00:18:14.606> entire<00:18:15.071> marketing<00:18:15.424> of<00:18:15.488> Naturium,<00:18:16.049> as<00:18:16.193> I<00:18:16.273> understand<00:18:16.706> it,<00:18:17.315> for<00:18:17.411> 3<00:18:17.732> years<00:18:18.357> was<00:18:19.720> Susan<00:18:20.521> and<00:18:21.338> 10,<00:18:22.076> 12<00:18:22.605> dermatologists<00:18:23.582> that<00:18:23.727> she<00:18:23.967> had<00:18:24.079> formed<00:18:24.801> a<00:18:24.929> collective<00:18:25.490> with<00:18:25.810> to<00:18:25.891> do<00:18:26.051> influencer<00:18:26.452> marketing.

00:18:27.349 --> 00:18:32.815
And<00:18:27.493> at<00:18:27.606> some<00:18:27.910> point<00:18:28.135> they<00:18:28.311> dabbled<00:18:28.728> in<00:18:28.936> some<00:18:29.257> PR<00:18:29.978> and<00:18:30.555> it<00:18:30.619> took<00:18:30.779> a<00:18:30.795> couple<00:18:31.100> of<00:18:31.180> years<00:18:31.741> on<00:18:31.981> Amazon<00:18:32.398> Marketplace.

00:18:32.863 --> 00:18:34.836
They<00:18:32.895> launched<00:18:33.135> on<00:18:33.264> Amazon<00:18:33.536> Marketplace,<00:18:34.001> just<00:18:34.386> Posted<00:18:34.739> it.

00:18:35.109 --> 00:18:39.429
And<00:18:35.526> about<00:18:36.153> a<00:18:36.249> 2-year<00:18:36.538> mark,<00:18:36.731> they<00:18:36.811> got<00:18:37.036> into<00:18:37.213> Sephora<00:18:37.775> because<00:18:38.080> they'd<00:18:38.176> gotten<00:18:38.337> a<00:18:38.417> lot<00:18:38.594> of<00:18:38.658> traction<00:18:39.044> online.

00:18:39.622 --> 00:18:43.782
But<00:18:39.766> at<00:18:39.863> the<00:18:39.943> 3-year<00:18:40.762> mark,<00:18:41.308> they<00:18:41.389> sold<00:18:41.710> it<00:18:42.272> 3<00:18:42.417> years<00:18:42.593> and<00:18:42.674> 2<00:18:42.818> months<00:18:43.059> later<00:18:43.316> to<00:18:43.348> e.l.f.

00:18:43.862 --> 00:18:46.207
Beauty<00:18:44.681> for<00:18:44.762> $355<00:18:45.966> million.

00:18:46.930 --> 00:18:50.319
She<00:18:47.026> sold<00:18:47.396> on<00:18:47.508> a<00:18:47.556> Friday<00:18:48.295> and<00:18:48.440> she<00:18:48.681> and<00:18:48.761> her<00:18:48.922> group<00:18:49.162> joined<00:18:49.419> Dolphin<00:18:49.821> on<00:18:49.966> a<00:18:50.046> Monday.

00:18:50.608 --> 00:18:53.869
She's<00:18:50.865> happily<00:18:51.347> retired,<00:18:51.893> I<00:18:51.957> might<00:18:52.214> add,<00:18:52.311> but<00:18:52.471> a<00:18:52.551> great<00:18:52.937> consultant<00:18:53.515> to<00:18:53.740> us.

00:18:54.142 --> 00:18:58.575
And<00:18:54.543> we<00:18:54.880> loved<00:18:55.266> it<00:18:55.989> and<00:18:56.085> the<00:18:56.149> story<00:18:56.470> because<00:18:56.647> that's<00:18:56.824> exactly<00:18:57.691> what<00:18:57.852> we<00:18:58.012> think<00:18:58.173> we<00:18:58.318> can<00:18:58.478> do.

00:18:58.655 --> 00:19:00.277
Now,<00:18:58.719> of<00:18:58.815> course,<00:18:58.976> she<00:18:59.137> caught<00:18:59.442> lightning<00:18:59.779> in<00:18:59.876> a<00:18:59.940> bottle.

00:19:00.486 --> 00:19:08.529
To<00:19:01.527> a<00:19:01.543> degree,<00:19:01.848> and<00:19:01.928> not<00:19:02.088> every<00:19:02.264> company<00:19:02.809> or<00:19:02.905> product<00:19:03.306> you<00:19:03.530> launch<00:19:03.802> is<00:19:03.931> going<00:19:04.059> to<00:19:04.107> sell<00:19:04.411> for<00:19:04.571> $355<00:19:05.293> million<00:19:05.565> 3<00:19:05.853> years<00:19:06.030> later,<00:19:06.751> but<00:19:06.975> she<00:19:07.135> did<00:19:07.295> it<00:19:07.392> entirely<00:19:08.016> with<00:19:08.129> earned<00:19:08.337> media.

00:19:08.898 --> 00:19:09.474
There<00:19:08.978> was<00:19:09.074> no<00:19:09.314> pay.

00:19:09.619 --> 00:19:13.656
There<00:19:09.699> was<00:19:09.795> no<00:19:10.500> Procter<00:19:10.901> Gamble<00:19:11.317> or<00:19:11.477> Unilever<00:19:12.118> backing<00:19:12.583> her<00:19:12.727> or<00:19:12.823> Johnson<00:19:13.240> Johnson.

00:19:13.945 --> 00:19:18.736
And<00:19:14.185> it's<00:19:14.522> what<00:19:14.746> you<00:19:14.906> can<00:19:15.163> do<00:19:15.307> today<00:19:15.788> that<00:19:16.845> you<00:19:17.085> couldn't<00:19:17.310> have<00:19:17.406> done<00:19:17.726> when<00:19:17.871> I<00:19:17.903> started,<00:19:18.527> I<00:19:18.608> guess.

00:19:18.928 --> 00:19:25.449
Yeah,<00:19:19.072> it<00:19:19.168> does<00:19:19.345> seem<00:19:19.569> like<00:19:19.953> ads<00:19:20.675> aren't<00:19:21.075> as<00:19:21.956> prevalent<00:19:23.318> as,<00:19:23.495> say,<00:19:24.312> unless<00:19:24.520> you're<00:19:24.600> talking<00:19:24.760> like<00:19:24.857> the<00:19:24.985> Super<00:19:25.337> Bowl.

00:19:25.738 --> 00:19:28.189
Obviously,<00:19:26.058> Super<00:19:26.379> Bowl<00:19:26.539> ads<00:19:26.779> still<00:19:26.956> matter,<00:19:27.340> which<00:19:27.596> is<00:19:27.741> interesting.

00:19:28.783 --> 00:19:32.857
But,<00:19:29.087> um,<00:19:30.050> kind<00:19:30.210> of<00:19:30.307> no<00:19:30.467> other<00:19:30.772> ads<00:19:31.044> seem<00:19:31.349> to<00:19:31.446> matter<00:19:31.750> or<00:19:31.927> stand<00:19:32.376> out<00:19:32.552> in<00:19:32.617> a<00:19:32.697> way.

00:19:32.937 --> 00:19:48.000
Like,<00:19:33.130> it<00:19:33.194> does<00:19:33.419> seem<00:19:33.595> like<00:19:34.221> influencer<00:19:34.654> marketing—<00:19:34.943> like,<00:19:35.119> if<00:19:35.199> you<00:19:35.231> can<00:19:35.424> get<00:19:35.584> on,<00:19:35.680> like,<00:19:36.017> if<00:19:36.226> you<00:19:36.258> have<00:19:36.467> Joe<00:19:36.643> Rogan<00:19:37.044> talk<00:19:37.220> about<00:19:37.429> your<00:19:37.525> product<00:19:37.830> for<00:19:38.007> a<00:19:38.023> minute,<00:19:38.552> or,<00:19:39.210> you<00:19:39.290> know,<00:19:39.450> some<00:19:39.611> of<00:19:39.691> these<00:19:39.915> other,<00:19:40.156> like,<00:19:40.413> kind<00:19:40.637> of<00:19:40.798> influencer<00:19:41.439> things<00:19:41.760> who<00:19:41.840> have<00:19:42.017> their<00:19:42.177> own,<00:19:42.482> like,<00:19:42.803> production<00:19:43.765> and<00:19:43.830> it's<00:19:44.166> only,<00:19:44.343> like,<00:19:44.503> 3<00:19:44.808> people<00:19:45.209> running<00:19:45.530> it—<00:19:45.963> it<00:19:46.027> does<00:19:46.124> seem<00:19:46.348> like<00:19:46.492> that's<00:19:46.749> the<00:19:46.829> way<00:19:47.134> we're<00:19:47.391> going,<00:19:47.872> right?

00:19:48.273 --> 00:19:53.053
Is<00:19:48.353> that,<00:19:48.770> is<00:19:48.835> that<00:19:48.995> also<00:19:49.252> the<00:19:49.316> way<00:19:49.364> we're<00:19:49.621> going<00:19:49.957> with,<00:19:50.182> like,<00:19:50.519> movies<00:19:51.064> and<00:19:52.187> those,<00:19:52.444> that<00:19:52.604> type<00:19:52.845> of<00:19:52.925> thing?

00:19:53.551 --> 00:19:53.823
I<00:19:53.631> think<00:19:53.791> so.

00:19:53.952 --> 00:20:04.974
I<00:19:53.984> mean,<00:19:54.112> if<00:19:54.273> you<00:19:54.369> really<00:19:54.674> look<00:19:54.995> at<00:19:55.476> you<00:19:55.797> know,<00:19:56.134> the<00:19:56.294> world<00:19:56.695> is<00:19:56.791> splitting<00:19:57.337> into<00:19:58.283> the<00:19:58.380> big,<00:19:59.102> the<00:19:59.246> big<00:19:59.407> stuff<00:19:59.679> that<00:19:59.888> has<00:20:00.064> traditional<00:20:00.465> paid<00:20:00.690> media<00:20:00.947> campaigns,<00:20:01.524> and<00:20:01.749> then,<00:20:01.974> you<00:20:02.006> know,<00:20:02.150> the<00:20:02.230> stuff<00:20:02.471> that<00:20:02.615> you<00:20:02.712> can<00:20:02.856> launch,<00:20:03.417> you<00:20:03.498> know,<00:20:03.899> far<00:20:03.995> more<00:20:04.236> cost-effectively.

00:20:05.343 --> 00:20:16.044
Um,<00:20:06.145> uh,<00:20:07.428> you<00:20:07.461> know,<00:20:07.685> so<00:20:07.926> for<00:20:08.166> a<00:20:08.311> James<00:20:08.728> Bond<00:20:09.113> or<00:20:09.273> Marvel<00:20:09.771> movie,<00:20:10.653> if<00:20:10.717> you're<00:20:10.830> going<00:20:10.910> to<00:20:10.958> spend<00:20:11.215> $200<00:20:11.568> million<00:20:11.873> to<00:20:12.001> make<00:20:12.258> it,<00:20:12.402> you're<00:20:12.482> probably<00:20:12.723> going<00:20:12.819> to<00:20:12.883> spend<00:20:13.140> $200<00:20:13.461> million<00:20:13.782> to<00:20:13.862> market<00:20:14.183> it<00:20:14.247> and<00:20:14.407> do<00:20:14.504> a<00:20:14.584> huge<00:20:14.969> paid<00:20:15.226> media<00:20:15.547> campaign.

00:20:16.108 --> 00:20:27.642
And,<00:20:16.734> and<00:20:16.830> by<00:20:16.991> the<00:20:17.135> way,<00:20:17.937> um,<00:20:18.595> I<00:20:18.739> agree<00:20:19.060> with<00:20:19.108> some<00:20:19.333> of<00:20:19.397> the<00:20:19.477> assessments<00:20:19.975> over<00:20:20.103> the<00:20:20.199> last<00:20:20.440> decade<00:20:20.761> that<00:20:20.873> the<00:20:20.921> safest<00:20:21.483> movies<00:20:21.964> to<00:20:22.044> invest<00:20:22.445> in<00:20:22.750> are<00:20:22.911> the<00:20:23.007> biggest,<00:20:23.552> um,<00:20:23.873> because<00:20:24.451> with<00:20:24.756> And<00:20:25.095> they've<00:20:25.272> done<00:20:25.498> such<00:20:25.965> oversized<00:20:26.530> returns<00:20:27.013> for<00:20:27.094> those<00:20:27.191> studios.

00:20:28.094 --> 00:20:34.853
Of<00:20:28.158> course,<00:20:28.803> there's<00:20:29.271> a<00:20:29.367> limited<00:20:29.706> amount<00:20:29.948> of<00:20:30.254> IP<00:20:30.738> that<00:20:31.302> is<00:20:31.705> big<00:20:31.882> enough<00:20:32.092> to<00:20:32.253> warrant<00:20:32.592> a<00:20:32.673> $200<00:20:33.012> million<00:20:34.110> swing,<00:20:34.610> right?

00:20:36.548 --> 00:20:43.366
But<00:20:37.259> Disney's<00:20:37.663> success<00:20:38.163> with<00:20:39.358> Marvel,<00:20:39.843> with<00:20:40.021> Pixar,<00:20:40.586> with<00:20:40.683> Star<00:20:40.990> Wars<00:20:41.652> is<00:20:41.798> well<00:20:41.959> documented,<00:20:42.606> right?

00:20:43.819 --> 00:20:53.171
But<00:20:44.450> if<00:20:44.611> you<00:20:44.708> think<00:20:44.854> about<00:20:45.096> YouTube<00:20:45.452> as<00:20:45.598> an<00:20:45.678> alternative<00:20:46.228> to<00:20:46.325> that,<00:20:46.810> how<00:20:46.972> many<00:20:47.942> people<00:20:48.217> have<00:20:48.330> made<00:20:48.492> a<00:20:48.573> whole<00:20:48.831> lot<00:20:49.009> of<00:20:49.074> money<00:20:49.317> on<00:20:49.462> YouTube<00:20:50.044> with<00:20:50.287> videos<00:20:50.675> that<00:20:50.740> cost<00:20:51.019> less<00:20:51.183> than<00:20:51.331> $5,000?

00:20:53.303 --> 00:21:01.460
So<00:20:53.467> then<00:20:53.632> it's<00:20:53.942> that<00:20:54.246> magic<00:20:54.663> elixir<00:20:55.224> of<00:20:55.384> what<00:20:55.689> makes<00:20:56.009> something<00:20:56.506> viral,<00:20:56.907> what<00:20:57.067> makes<00:20:57.292> something<00:20:57.612> a<00:20:57.693> hit,<00:20:57.869> what<00:20:58.029> makes<00:20:58.206> a<00:20:58.270> show<00:20:58.510> on<00:20:58.654> YouTube<00:20:59.055> work,<00:20:59.296> what<00:20:59.392> makes<00:20:59.568> a<00:20:59.632> podcast<00:21:00.257> more<00:21:00.354> successful<00:21:00.915> than<00:21:01.075> the<00:21:01.139> next.

00:21:01.860 --> 00:21:05.002
And<00:21:02.502> if<00:21:02.598> someone<00:21:02.999> knew<00:21:03.143> that<00:21:03.319> answer,<00:21:03.704> they'd<00:21:03.864> be<00:21:03.960> a<00:21:04.265> trillionaire,<00:21:04.762> right?

00:21:05.083 --> 00:21:19.173
But<00:21:05.387> I<00:21:05.563> do<00:21:05.724> know<00:21:05.964> this,<00:21:06.365> that<00:21:06.621> if<00:21:06.830> you<00:21:06.926> can<00:21:07.247> bring<00:21:08.032> PR,<00:21:08.673> influencer<00:21:09.090> marketing,<00:21:09.571> word<00:21:09.811> of<00:21:09.876> mouth,<00:21:10.613> events,<00:21:11.238> you<00:21:11.318> know,<00:21:11.414> things<00:21:11.879> that<00:21:12.200> aren't<00:21:12.440> traditional<00:21:13.017> paid<00:21:13.242> media,<00:21:13.482> 'cause<00:21:13.675> no<00:21:14.043> one,<00:21:14.845> no<00:21:15.326> one<00:21:15.983> has<00:21:16.464> enough<00:21:16.785> money<00:21:17.025> for<00:21:17.249> traditional<00:21:17.746> paid<00:21:18.051> media<00:21:18.612> behind<00:21:18.884> a<00:21:19.013> YouTube.

00:21:19.590 --> 00:21:24.174
I<00:21:19.654> mean,<00:21:19.894> when<00:21:19.991> was<00:21:20.087> the<00:21:20.151> last<00:21:20.391> time<00:21:20.616> you<00:21:20.648> saw<00:21:20.840> an<00:21:21.097> ad<00:21:21.337> on<00:21:21.513> TV<00:21:21.994> for<00:21:22.235> either<00:21:22.459> a<00:21:22.539> YouTube<00:21:22.956> show<00:21:23.597> or<00:21:23.661> a<00:21:23.742> podcast?

00:21:24.335 --> 00:21:24.543
Never.

00:21:24.703 --> 00:21:25.585
I<00:21:24.719> would<00:21:24.864> argue<00:21:25.040> I've<00:21:25.184> never<00:21:25.345> seen<00:21:25.521> it.

00:21:25.906 --> 00:21:26.371
I've<00:21:25.954> never<00:21:26.018> seen<00:21:26.307> one.

00:21:26.547 --> 00:21:27.414
Yeah,<00:21:26.740> not<00:21:26.884> that<00:21:27.029> I<00:21:27.045> can<00:21:27.205> think<00:21:27.382> of.

00:21:28.007 --> 00:21:29.948
But<00:21:28.184> we<00:21:28.328> could<00:21:28.569> name<00:21:28.890> Joe<00:21:29.050> Rogan<00:21:29.371> as<00:21:29.451> a<00:21:29.515> great<00:21:29.595> example.

00:21:29.996 --> 00:21:31.280
Alex<00:21:30.333> Cooper<00:21:30.558> is<00:21:30.654> another<00:21:30.863> example.

00:21:31.360 --> 00:21:34.296
You<00:21:31.424> can<00:21:31.504> name<00:21:31.697> people<00:21:31.921> that<00:21:32.002> make<00:21:32.162> tens<00:21:32.483> of<00:21:32.515> millions<00:21:32.820> of<00:21:32.852> dollars<00:21:33.221> a<00:21:33.285> year,<00:21:33.365> hundreds<00:21:33.558> of<00:21:33.622> millions<00:21:33.879> of<00:21:33.943> dollars<00:21:34.135> a<00:21:34.183> year.

00:21:34.584 --> 00:21:37.183
So<00:21:34.681> they<00:21:34.889> build<00:21:35.130> a<00:21:35.162> following<00:21:35.788> and<00:21:35.852> then<00:21:35.948> they<00:21:36.044> monetize<00:21:36.670> it<00:21:36.734> right<00:21:37.071> now.

00:21:37.568 --> 00:21:55.119
If<00:21:37.697> you're<00:21:37.793> going<00:21:37.969> to<00:21:38.114> launch<00:21:38.579> a<00:21:38.675> new<00:21:39.076> consumer<00:21:39.878> product,<00:21:40.504> uh,<00:21:40.921> in<00:21:41.001> certain<00:21:41.386> categories<00:21:41.964> where<00:21:42.830> entertainment<00:21:43.407> influences<00:21:43.873> success—<00:21:44.226> so<00:21:44.450> let's<00:21:44.595> say<00:21:44.771> a<00:21:44.931> liquor<00:21:45.557> is<00:21:45.653> well<00:21:45.894> known,<00:21:46.215> or,<00:21:46.680> or<00:21:47.338> a<00:21:47.418> beauty<00:21:47.803> brand,<00:21:48.076> or<00:21:48.204> how<00:21:48.236> many<00:21:48.862> each<00:21:49.022> generation<00:21:49.584> has<00:21:49.744> their<00:21:49.888> own,<00:21:50.450> or<00:21:50.626> products<00:21:51.252> where<00:21:51.509> influencer<00:21:52.054> marketing<00:21:52.872> is<00:21:53.113> far<00:21:53.418> more<00:21:53.755> influential<00:21:54.333> than<00:21:54.542> paid<00:21:54.798> media.

00:21:55.344 --> 00:22:07.783
And<00:21:55.842> cosmetics—<00:21:56.869> ask<00:21:57.206> any,<00:21:57.752> any<00:21:57.992> person<00:21:58.329> buying<00:21:58.634> cosmetics<00:21:59.196> under<00:21:59.373> the<00:21:59.453> age<00:21:59.629> of<00:21:59.774> 40<00:22:00.255> what<00:22:00.480> led<00:22:00.673> them<00:22:00.978> to<00:22:01.138> that<00:22:01.379> purchase,<00:22:02.101> and<00:22:02.181> you're<00:22:02.326> going<00:22:02.422> to<00:22:02.502> hear<00:22:03.225> two-thirds<00:22:03.706> of<00:22:03.738> the<00:22:03.851> time<00:22:04.894> influencer<00:22:05.857> and<00:22:06.098> less<00:22:06.354> than<00:22:06.515> a<00:22:06.595> third<00:22:06.820> of<00:22:06.916> the<00:22:06.996> time<00:22:07.301> paid<00:22:07.478> media.

00:22:07.943 --> 00:22:23.799
So<00:22:08.264> there<00:22:08.329> are<00:22:08.377> certain<00:22:08.682> categories<00:22:09.163> where<00:22:09.324> when<00:22:09.468> you<00:22:09.629> want<00:22:09.725> to<00:22:09.869> launch<00:22:10.014> a<00:22:10.110> consumer<00:22:10.431> product<00:22:10.832> or<00:22:10.913> there's<00:22:11.137> certain<00:22:11.635> content,<00:22:12.373> if<00:22:12.518> you<00:22:12.678> can—<00:22:13.240> a<00:22:13.400> documentary,<00:22:13.914> a<00:22:13.978> podcast,<00:22:14.556> a<00:22:14.684> TV<00:22:14.861> show,<00:22:15.262> or<00:22:15.342> a<00:22:15.423> movie—<00:22:15.663> if<00:22:15.808> you<00:22:15.968> can<00:22:16.145> promote<00:22:16.851> it<00:22:17.493> using<00:22:17.991> PR<00:22:18.328> and<00:22:18.456> influencer<00:22:18.873> marketing<00:22:19.275> and<00:22:19.435> again,<00:22:19.676> experiential<00:22:20.302> marketing<00:22:20.655> events<00:22:21.104> too,<00:22:21.586> Um,<00:22:22.083> you<00:22:22.163> just,<00:22:22.468> you<00:22:22.564> just<00:22:22.708> have<00:22:22.820> a<00:22:22.885> better<00:22:23.045> chance<00:22:23.366> of<00:22:23.398> success.

00:22:23.927 --> 00:22:28.545
And<00:22:23.975> that's<00:22:24.248> the<00:22:24.472> core,<00:22:25.049> the<00:22:25.194> entire<00:22:25.691> core<00:22:25.867> investment<00:22:26.444> thesis<00:22:27.054> of<00:22:27.134> putting<00:22:27.390> a<00:22:27.519> group<00:22:27.695> together<00:22:28.000> like<00:22:28.176> what<00:22:28.321> we<00:22:28.417> did.

00:22:28.802 --> 00:22:30.678
How<00:22:28.994> is<00:22:29.283> AI<00:22:29.619> changing<00:22:30.084> all<00:22:30.261> of<00:22:30.341> this<00:22:30.581> now?

00:22:31.287 --> 00:22:39.561
Because<00:22:31.624> we,<00:22:31.864> it<00:22:31.944> seems<00:22:32.345> like<00:22:32.570> we're<00:22:32.650> going<00:22:32.730> to<00:22:32.810> get<00:22:32.971> to<00:22:33.067> a<00:22:33.147> point<00:22:33.612> where<00:22:34.334> everything,<00:22:34.991> voice<00:22:35.376> acting,<00:22:35.937> everything,<00:22:37.156> the<00:22:37.621> actors<00:22:37.942> themselves,<00:22:38.359> they're<00:22:38.503> all<00:22:38.679> AI,<00:22:39.321> right?

00:22:39.818 --> 00:22:40.427
I<00:22:39.834> don't<00:22:40.122> know.

00:22:40.523 --> 00:22:48.268
Like<00:22:40.684> that,<00:22:40.988> that<00:22:41.149> seems<00:22:41.357> to<00:22:41.469> be<00:22:41.502> like,<00:22:41.614> I<00:22:41.646> don't<00:22:41.806> know<00:22:41.983> if<00:22:42.111> how<00:22:42.287> that'll<00:22:42.512> work<00:22:42.784> or<00:22:42.848> if<00:22:43.009> people<00:22:43.233> will<00:22:43.410> like<00:22:43.650> it<00:22:43.730> or<00:22:43.795> anything<00:22:44.051> like<00:22:44.211> that,<00:22:44.372> but<00:22:44.853> the<00:22:44.997> capability<00:22:46.120> is<00:22:46.280> going<00:22:46.360> to<00:22:46.456> be<00:22:46.617> there<00:22:46.777> soon<00:22:47.338> if<00:22:47.515> it's<00:22:47.675> not<00:22:47.900> already.

00:22:48.365 --> 00:22:49.824
And<00:22:48.461> it's<00:22:48.685> not<00:22:48.862> quite<00:22:49.102> up<00:22:49.263> there<00:22:49.487> already.

00:22:49.984 --> 00:22:51.876
So<00:22:50.610> how<00:22:50.722> is<00:22:50.850> AI<00:22:51.107> changing<00:22:51.491> all<00:22:51.588> of<00:22:51.668> this?

00:22:52.069 --> 00:23:00.791
Well,<00:22:52.534> I,<00:22:52.854> you<00:22:52.887> know,<00:22:53.672> We're<00:22:53.833> not<00:22:54.089> an<00:22:54.233> AI<00:22:54.634> company,<00:22:55.356> but<00:22:55.532> we<00:22:55.612> certainly<00:22:56.238> use<00:22:56.558> AI<00:22:58.482> and<00:22:59.027> we're<00:22:59.364> impacted<00:23:00.150> by<00:23:00.470> AI.

00:23:00.951 --> 00:23:10.106
So<00:23:01.368> if<00:23:01.513> I<00:23:01.913> could<00:23:02.010> divide,<00:23:02.891> if<00:23:02.972> I<00:23:03.052> just<00:23:03.212> divided<00:23:03.677> all<00:23:03.757> the<00:23:03.837> marketing<00:23:04.190> into<00:23:04.350> paid<00:23:04.639> and<00:23:04.735> earned,<00:23:04.912> I'm<00:23:05.040> going<00:23:05.296> to<00:23:05.361> take<00:23:05.521> the<00:23:05.601> liberty<00:23:05.938> to<00:23:06.002> try<00:23:06.162> and<00:23:06.242> divide<00:23:06.804> AI<00:23:07.124> into<00:23:07.846> defensive<00:23:08.503> and<00:23:08.583> then<00:23:08.808> offensive<00:23:09.385> AI.

00:23:11.052 --> 00:23:17.562
And<00:23:11.854> one<00:23:12.014> of<00:23:12.095> the<00:23:12.191> things,<00:23:12.896> AI<00:23:13.634> has<00:23:14.019> the<00:23:14.740> risk<00:23:15.462> of<00:23:16.279> damage,<00:23:16.840> right?

00:23:18.267 --> 00:23:27.972
Whether,<00:23:18.909> however<00:23:19.229> you<00:23:19.486> look<00:23:19.710> at<00:23:19.807> the<00:23:20.047> taking<00:23:20.448> the<00:23:20.528> jobs<00:23:20.929> away<00:23:21.570> problem,<00:23:22.597> in<00:23:22.757> Hollywood<00:23:23.255> or<00:23:23.399> others,<00:23:23.896> that's<00:23:24.057> certainly<00:23:25.340> top<00:23:25.581> of<00:23:25.661> mind<00:23:26.062> for<00:23:26.191> many<00:23:26.399> of<00:23:26.447> the<00:23:26.544> guilds,<00:23:27.025> and<00:23:27.250> rightfully<00:23:27.603> so.

00:23:28.614 --> 00:23:33.620
Um,<00:23:29.031> but<00:23:29.175> it<00:23:29.255> also,<00:23:30.074> you<00:23:30.154> know,<00:23:30.234> the<00:23:30.314> proliferation<00:23:31.036> of<00:23:31.181> deepfakes<00:23:31.758> has<00:23:31.935> problems<00:23:32.400> for<00:23:32.496> individuals<00:23:33.202> and<00:23:33.299> brands.

00:23:33.748 --> 00:23:41.241
You<00:23:33.796> know,<00:23:34.005> without<00:23:34.245> going<00:23:34.550> into<00:23:34.807> the<00:23:34.951> gory<00:23:35.288> details,<00:23:35.834> just<00:23:36.026> imagine<00:23:36.556> how<00:23:36.732> many<00:23:37.069> deepfakes<00:23:37.599> there<00:23:37.775> are<00:23:38.000> of<00:23:38.321> any<00:23:38.882> female<00:23:39.316> or<00:23:39.460> male<00:23:39.717> celebrity<00:23:40.262> in<00:23:40.326> the<00:23:40.407> world<00:23:40.808> out<00:23:40.984> there.

We<00:23:55.655> care<00:23:55.992> about<00:23:56.313> the<00:23:56.538> public<00:23:57.036> persona<00:23:57.679> of<00:23:57.759> our<00:23:57.984> clients<00:23:58.546> and<00:23:59.188> we're<00:23:59.429> meant<00:23:59.606> to,<00:24:00.329> you<00:24:01.212> know,<00:24:01.437> put<00:24:01.614> them<00:24:01.839> forward<00:24:02.160> in<00:24:02.240> their<00:24:02.337> best<00:24:02.578> light.

00:24:03.124 --> 00:24:13.051
And<00:24:03.606> when<00:24:03.847> there<00:24:04.168> are<00:24:04.971> fake<00:24:05.212> comments<00:24:06.095> or<00:24:06.336> fake<00:24:06.658> anything,<00:24:07.156> a<00:24:07.236> lot<00:24:07.413> of<00:24:07.477> fake<00:24:07.798> images,<00:24:08.200> a<00:24:08.280> lot<00:24:08.441> of<00:24:08.505> fake<00:24:08.762> videos<00:24:09.163> out<00:24:09.388> there<00:24:10.047> that<00:24:10.191> are<00:24:10.288> damaging,<00:24:11.155> it<00:24:11.348> can<00:24:11.717> be<00:24:11.814> frustrating<00:24:12.264> because<00:24:12.472> it's<00:24:12.617> whack-a-mole.

00:24:13.340 --> 00:24:18.812
You<00:24:13.420> could<00:24:13.581> write<00:24:13.806> a<00:24:13.822> cease<00:24:14.223> and<00:24:14.303> desist<00:24:14.785> letter,<00:24:15.171> you<00:24:15.203> know,<00:24:15.412> hire<00:24:15.588> a<00:24:15.605> law<00:24:15.829> firm<00:24:16.086> and<00:24:16.552> Good<00:24:16.712> luck<00:24:17.033> when<00:24:17.193> it's<00:24:17.417> coming<00:24:17.658> in<00:24:17.818> from<00:24:18.139> offshore,<00:24:18.620> right?

00:24:19.021 --> 00:24:19.133
Yeah.

00:24:19.197 --> 00:24:21.008
So<00:24:19.437> we<00:24:19.598> partnered<00:24:19.966> with<00:24:20.159> an<00:24:20.303> AI<00:24:20.479> company.

00:24:21.120 --> 00:24:22.691
There's<00:24:21.281> nothing<00:24:21.521> you<00:24:21.682> can<00:24:21.762> do,<00:24:21.986> which<00:24:22.098> is<00:24:22.243> crazy.

00:24:23.381 --> 00:24:24.567
No,<00:24:24.310> no.

00:24:25.032 --> 00:24:27.020
And<00:24:25.449> presumably<00:24:25.994> it's<00:24:26.154> only<00:24:26.330> going<00:24:26.491> to<00:24:26.571> get<00:24:26.795> worse.

00:24:27.196 --> 00:24:32.293
So<00:24:27.773> day<00:24:28.013> by<00:24:28.094> day,<00:24:28.655> month<00:24:28.895> by<00:24:28.991> month,<00:24:29.376> I<00:24:29.392> mean,<00:24:29.536> imagine<00:24:29.857> where<00:24:30.017> we<00:24:30.161> were<00:24:30.338> 3<00:24:30.562> years<00:24:30.690> ago,<00:24:31.043> 2<00:24:31.139> years<00:24:31.316> ago,<00:24:31.460> 1<00:24:31.620> year<00:24:31.700> ago<00:24:31.861> today,<00:24:32.117> right?

00:24:32.486 --> 00:24:42.072
So<00:24:33.303> we<00:24:33.464> did<00:24:33.624> partner<00:24:33.945> with<00:24:34.105> an<00:24:34.249> AI<00:24:34.506> company<00:24:34.826> called<00:24:34.987> Lodi<00:24:35.307> AI<00:24:36.990> because<00:24:37.375> we<00:24:37.471> do<00:24:37.615> have,<00:24:38.193> we're<00:24:38.353> blessed<00:24:38.657> to<00:24:38.818> have<00:24:39.010> a<00:24:39.138> roster<00:24:39.635> of<00:24:40.100> leading<00:24:40.357> celebrities,<00:24:41.302> leading<00:24:41.559> influencers.

00:24:42.120 --> 00:24:46.464
And<00:24:42.216> so<00:24:42.921> we<00:24:43.066> were<00:24:43.226> on<00:24:43.306> the<00:24:43.386> search<00:24:43.787> for<00:24:44.044> and<00:24:44.428> picked<00:24:44.765> an<00:24:44.845> AI<00:24:45.166> company<00:24:45.486> that<00:24:45.631> was<00:24:45.743> at<00:24:45.871> the<00:24:45.951> forefront.

00:24:46.528 --> 00:25:12.241
They<00:24:46.608> certainly<00:24:46.929> got<00:24:47.089> other<00:24:47.314> great<00:24:47.490> partnerships,<00:24:48.131> but<00:24:48.676> We<00:24:49.077> created<00:24:49.317> a<00:24:49.350> strategic<00:24:49.814> partnership<00:24:50.295> with<00:24:50.359> them<00:24:50.616> where<00:24:50.840> we<00:24:50.937> offered<00:24:51.257> to<00:24:51.337> promote<00:24:51.898> them<00:24:52.459> and,<00:24:53.966> and<00:24:54.062> they<00:24:54.607> offered<00:24:54.944> to<00:24:55.104> do<00:24:55.265> sweeps<00:24:55.986> for<00:24:56.226> our<00:24:56.691> clients<00:24:57.172> that<00:24:57.333> want<00:24:57.429> to<00:24:57.509> participate<00:24:58.455> and<00:24:58.936> using<00:24:59.272> AI,<00:24:59.913> identify<00:25:00.939> all<00:25:01.052> the<00:25:01.196> images,<00:25:01.661> videos,<00:25:02.158> and<00:25:02.302> statements<00:25:02.799> out<00:25:03.039> there<00:25:03.504> and<00:25:04.065> mass<00:25:04.626> send<00:25:05.267> using<00:25:05.524> AI<00:25:05.861> cease<00:25:06.165> and<00:25:06.245> desist<00:25:06.646> letters<00:25:07.271> and,<00:25:07.832> and<00:25:08.810> funnel<00:25:09.195> them<00:25:09.387> into<00:25:09.676> the<00:25:09.772> watchdogs<00:25:10.429> and<00:25:10.541> the<00:25:10.573> government<00:25:10.974> agencies<00:25:11.615> that<00:25:11.760> are<00:25:11.840> doing<00:25:12.112> it.

00:25:12.321 --> 00:25:24.974
And<00:25:12.481> all<00:25:12.513> of<00:25:12.577> a<00:25:12.593> sudden<00:25:12.898> you<00:25:12.978> go<00:25:13.154> from,<00:25:13.763> you<00:25:13.796> know,<00:25:14.244> whatever<00:25:14.645> you<00:25:14.982> think<00:25:15.206> you<00:25:15.302> could<00:25:15.447> do<00:25:15.543> as<00:25:15.639> an<00:25:15.767> output<00:25:16.248> manually<00:25:16.825> to<00:25:17.226> turning<00:25:17.691> AI<00:25:18.011> on<00:25:18.188> AI<00:25:18.653> and<00:25:18.813> all<00:25:18.845> of<00:25:18.893> a<00:25:18.909> sudden<00:25:19.230> you've<00:25:19.454> got<00:25:19.711> thousands<00:25:20.208> and<00:25:20.272> thousands<00:25:20.834> of<00:25:20.898> those<00:25:21.074> going<00:25:21.299> out<00:25:21.347> today,<00:25:21.620> and<00:25:22.198> it<00:25:22.342> seems<00:25:22.679> to<00:25:22.775> be<00:25:22.904> making<00:25:23.465> a<00:25:23.498> strong<00:25:23.963> difference<00:25:24.364> for<00:25:24.509> our<00:25:24.605> clients.

00:25:25.150 --> 00:25:29.146
And<00:25:25.247> by<00:25:25.407> the<00:25:25.471> way,<00:25:25.568> the<00:25:25.632> same<00:25:25.953> thing's<00:25:26.129> going<00:25:26.274> to<00:25:26.450> reach<00:25:26.627> into<00:25:26.836> brands<00:25:27.317> too<00:25:28.055> and<00:25:28.135> not<00:25:28.296> just<00:25:28.537> individuals.

00:25:29.291 --> 00:25:32.870
So,<00:25:29.580> that's<00:25:29.821> what<00:25:29.965> I'll<00:25:30.398> say<00:25:30.767> using<00:25:31.329> AI<00:25:31.746> to<00:25:32.067> play<00:25:32.372> defense.

00:25:33.496 --> 00:25:38.326
And<00:25:33.752> sometimes<00:25:34.154> it's<00:25:34.234> not<00:25:34.458> even<00:25:34.779> AI-generated<00:25:35.823> fake<00:25:35.983> content,<00:25:36.336> it's<00:25:36.481> just<00:25:36.882> human-generated<00:25:37.700> fake<00:25:37.925> content.

00:25:38.631 --> 00:25:49.411
And<00:25:39.225> then<00:25:39.369> on<00:25:39.530> offense,<00:25:40.396> using<00:25:40.717> AI<00:25:40.974> for<00:25:41.279> good,<00:25:41.520> so<00:25:41.696> to<00:25:41.776> speak,<00:25:42.402> obviously,<00:25:43.365> it's<00:25:43.478> a<00:25:43.542> tool<00:25:44.505> all<00:25:44.649> of<00:25:44.681> us<00:25:44.826> use<00:25:45.066> daily<00:25:46.976> Many<00:25:47.232> of<00:25:47.312> us,<00:25:47.536> I<00:25:47.568> shouldn't<00:25:47.777> say<00:25:47.889> all<00:25:48.049> of<00:25:48.113> us,<00:25:48.257> use<00:25:48.418> daily<00:25:48.610> in<00:25:48.770> our<00:25:49.155> job.

00:25:49.459 --> 00:25:53.432
But<00:25:49.555> you<00:25:49.635> want<00:25:49.779> a<00:25:49.795> first<00:25:50.116> draft<00:25:50.436> of<00:25:50.516> a<00:25:50.596> press<00:25:50.837> release,<00:25:51.173> it<00:25:51.253> saves<00:25:51.622> you<00:25:51.862> half<00:25:52.038> an<00:25:52.182> hour,<00:25:52.375> 45<00:25:52.903> minutes,<00:25:53.240> or—.

00:25:53.640 --> 00:25:54.025
That's<00:25:53.865> right.

00:25:54.522 --> 00:25:57.421
And<00:25:54.602> then<00:25:54.762> before<00:25:55.066> you,<00:25:55.307> you<00:25:55.339> know,<00:25:55.547> you<00:25:55.707> edit<00:25:55.899> it<00:25:56.060> and,<00:25:56.444> and,<00:25:56.700> uh,<00:25:57.085> and<00:25:57.149> whatnot.

00:25:57.485 --> 00:26:03.141
Or<00:25:57.565> if<00:25:57.646> you<00:25:57.726> want<00:25:57.966> to<00:25:58.350> thought<00:25:58.543> start<00:25:58.911> different<00:25:59.232> headlines<00:25:59.712> that'll<00:25:59.888> grab<00:26:00.193> the<00:26:00.273> attention<00:26:00.690> of<00:26:00.770> a<00:26:00.850> magazine<00:26:01.330> editor<00:26:01.731> before<00:26:01.955> you<00:26:01.987> send<00:26:02.228> out<00:26:02.356> the<00:26:02.516> breaking<00:26:02.788> news.

00:26:03.333 --> 00:26:07.130
Um,<00:26:03.830> some<00:26:04.118> things<00:26:04.374> don't<00:26:04.615> need<00:26:04.919> help,<00:26:05.175> like<00:26:05.512> Springsteen<00:26:06.137> announces<00:26:06.617> his<00:26:06.777> next<00:26:07.002> tour.

00:26:07.418 --> 00:26:08.924
We<00:26:07.514> have<00:26:07.659> no<00:26:07.899> problem<00:26:08.379> getting<00:26:08.764> it.

00:26:09.421 --> 00:26:11.856
But<00:26:09.982> Bill<00:26:10.206> O'Dowd<00:26:10.703> wears<00:26:11.023> blue<00:26:11.263> suit<00:26:11.584> today.

00:26:11.968 --> 00:26:13.202
Nobody's<00:26:12.305> going<00:26:12.417> to<00:26:12.529> run<00:26:12.689> that<00:26:12.801> story.

00:26:13.266 --> 00:26:17.575
We<00:26:13.330> need,<00:26:13.650> we<00:26:13.746> need<00:26:13.891> some<00:26:14.051> ideas<00:26:14.612> on<00:26:16.230> how<00:26:16.310> to<00:26:16.454> pitch<00:26:16.630> that<00:26:16.935> more<00:26:17.095> effectively.

00:26:17.752 --> 00:26:21.902
So,<00:26:18.537> um,<00:26:19.354> I<00:26:19.434> think<00:26:19.594> that's<00:26:19.835> where—<00:26:20.155> that's<00:26:20.395> how<00:26:20.620> we're<00:26:20.748> seeing<00:26:21.341> AI<00:26:21.581> today.

00:26:21.982 --> 00:26:29.224
And,<00:26:22.382> you<00:26:22.414> know,<00:26:22.623> I<00:26:22.719> don't—<00:26:23.263> I<00:26:23.520> personally,<00:26:24.161> as<00:26:24.385> a<00:26:24.481> producer<00:26:24.962> for<00:26:25.346> 29<00:26:25.827> years,<00:26:26.148> I<00:26:26.164> don't<00:26:26.308> want<00:26:26.404> to<00:26:26.484> see<00:26:27.349> AI-generated<00:26:28.166> movies<00:26:28.471> from<00:26:28.583> start<00:26:28.887> to<00:26:29.032> finish.

00:26:29.368 --> 00:26:33.150
I,<00:26:29.689> I<00:26:29.769> want<00:26:29.929> the<00:26:30.073> human<00:26:30.330> element<00:26:30.730> and<00:26:30.874> the<00:26:31.051> artist<00:26:31.515> behind<00:26:31.836> it<00:26:31.932> in<00:26:32.028> each,<00:26:32.428> each<00:26:32.637> level<00:26:32.957> of<00:26:33.053> it.

00:26:33.214 --> 00:26:41.241
But<00:26:33.358> I,<00:26:33.935> I'm<00:26:34.095> not<00:26:34.640> buried—<00:26:35.601> burying<00:26:35.857> my<00:26:36.002> head<00:26:36.178> in<00:26:36.242> the<00:26:36.322> sand<00:26:36.498> and<00:26:36.723> realizing,<00:26:37.283> uh,<00:26:38.004> you<00:26:38.036> know,<00:26:38.101> I<00:26:38.181> teach<00:26:38.485> this<00:26:38.725> one<00:26:38.966> course<00:26:39.286> a<00:26:39.366> year<00:26:39.863> at<00:26:39.959> the<00:26:40.087> University<00:26:40.488> of<00:26:40.520> Miami<00:26:40.824> Film<00:26:41.049> School.

00:26:41.305 --> 00:26:41.962
Very<00:26:41.465> happy<00:26:41.706> to<00:26:41.786> do<00:26:41.866> it.

00:26:42.010 --> 00:26:45.775
I've<00:26:42.090> been<00:26:42.170> doing<00:26:42.347> it<00:26:42.379> since<00:26:42.651> the<00:26:42.731> year<00:26:42.827> I<00:26:42.843> started<00:26:43.212> Dolphin,<00:26:43.612> and<00:26:44.093> 29<00:26:44.574> years,<00:26:44.910> and<00:26:45.006> I<00:26:45.151> teach<00:26:45.391> tonight.

00:26:45.952 --> 00:26:51.006
And<00:26:46.032> I<00:26:46.112> think<00:26:46.337> about<00:26:46.754> these,<00:26:47.155> this<00:26:47.316> generation<00:26:48.182> and,<00:26:49.000> you<00:26:49.081> know,<00:26:49.386> how<00:26:49.498> it<00:26:49.562> changes<00:26:49.963> each<00:26:50.188> generation<00:26:50.605> too,<00:26:50.765> by<00:26:50.926> the<00:26:50.974> way.

00:26:51.151 --> 00:26:58.515
But<00:26:51.488> by<00:26:51.648> the<00:26:51.728> time<00:26:52.611> they're<00:26:53.172> deep<00:26:53.429> into<00:26:53.638> their<00:26:53.878> career,<00:26:54.536> you<00:26:54.616> know,<00:26:54.841> push<00:26:55.018> of<00:26:55.098> a<00:26:55.178> button,<00:26:55.820> out<00:26:55.980> comes<00:26:56.285> story<00:26:56.606> ideas,<00:26:57.007> push<00:26:57.184> of<00:26:57.264> a<00:26:57.344> button,<00:26:57.729> out<00:26:57.825> comes<00:26:58.082> a<00:26:58.211> movie.

00:26:59.029 --> 00:27:01.019
You<00:26:59.109> know,<00:26:59.254> processing<00:26:59.703> speeds<00:27:00.008> are<00:27:00.072> only<00:27:00.248> going<00:27:00.393> to<00:27:00.473> be<00:27:00.553> faster.

00:27:01.195 --> 00:27:05.896
What<00:27:01.355> does<00:27:01.516> the<00:27:01.660> world<00:27:01.917> look<00:27:02.078> like<00:27:02.398> when<00:27:02.880> 10<00:27:03.185> years<00:27:03.425> from<00:27:03.586> now<00:27:04.067> you<00:27:04.163> can<00:27:04.308> make<00:27:04.484> your<00:27:04.629> own<00:27:04.741> movies<00:27:05.126> off<00:27:05.271> your<00:27:05.431> own<00:27:05.527> ideas?

00:27:06.009 --> 00:27:10.485
And,<00:27:06.249> you<00:27:06.330> know,<00:27:06.667> and<00:27:06.811> instead<00:27:07.052> of<00:27:07.116> maybe<00:27:07.356> watching<00:27:07.693> YouTube,<00:27:07.918> you're<00:27:08.111> watching<00:27:08.496> your<00:27:08.656> movies<00:27:08.977> or<00:27:09.121> other<00:27:09.218> people's<00:27:09.523> movies<00:27:09.956> or<00:27:10.020> short<00:27:10.261> videos.

00:27:10.550 --> 00:27:12.427
Yeah,<00:27:10.806> that,<00:27:11.127> that's<00:27:11.368> where<00:27:11.464> it<00:27:11.544> gets<00:27:11.689> super<00:27:12.090> wild.

00:27:12.507 --> 00:27:17.545
We're<00:27:12.651> like,<00:27:12.972> hey,<00:27:13.213> create<00:27:13.470> a<00:27:13.550> version<00:27:13.951> of<00:27:14.096> James<00:27:14.433> Bond<00:27:14.834> like<00:27:15.139> this<00:27:15.395> or<00:27:15.540> whatever,<00:27:15.861> you<00:27:15.893> know,<00:27:16.181> then,<00:27:16.422> then<00:27:16.583> you're<00:27:16.663> doing<00:27:16.839> something<00:27:17.144> really<00:27:17.321> weird.

00:27:17.963 --> 00:27:20.179
But<00:27:18.059> it<00:27:18.123> does<00:27:18.300> seem<00:27:18.509> to<00:27:18.541> me<00:27:18.669> that<00:27:18.846> most<00:27:19.247> of<00:27:19.312> it's<00:27:19.440> just<00:27:19.568> going<00:27:19.681> to<00:27:19.729> be<00:27:19.873> shit.

00:27:20.275 --> 00:27:20.789
Don't<00:27:20.468> you<00:27:20.612> think?

00:27:20.837 --> 00:27:27.854
Like,<00:27:21.238> I<00:27:21.270> mean,<00:27:21.415> that<00:27:21.575> doesn't<00:27:21.816> sound<00:27:22.362> like—<00:27:22.699> like,<00:27:23.197> there<00:27:23.358> may<00:27:23.583> be<00:27:23.711> more<00:27:23.968> content,<00:27:24.530> we<00:27:24.562> may<00:27:24.851> have<00:27:25.012> the<00:27:25.172> tools<00:27:25.509> to<00:27:25.654> do<00:27:25.830> that,<00:27:26.071> but<00:27:26.152> I<00:27:26.296> can't—<00:27:26.794> like,<00:27:26.954> who's<00:27:27.276> watching<00:27:27.661> that?

00:27:28.319 --> 00:27:30.294
Yeah,<00:27:29.524> but<00:27:29.588> again,<00:27:29.845> like,<00:27:30.005> who<00:27:30.150> knows?

00:27:30.407 --> 00:27:34.196
We're<00:27:30.551> probably,<00:27:31.290> uh,<00:27:32.077> Clint<00:27:32.398> may<00:27:32.494> be<00:27:32.638> watching<00:27:33.056> Clint<00:27:33.457> as<00:27:33.602> James<00:27:33.923> Bond.

00:27:34.405 --> 00:27:34.774
That's<00:27:34.581> right.

00:27:34.902 --> 00:27:37.873
Yeah,<00:27:35.127> you'd<00:27:35.288> be<00:27:35.384> writing<00:27:35.625> your<00:27:35.786> own—<00:27:36.107> you'd<00:27:36.251> be<00:27:36.348> watching<00:27:36.733> your<00:27:36.893> own<00:27:37.054> stuff<00:27:37.247> for<00:27:37.536> sure.

00:27:38.098 --> 00:27:40.570
And<00:27:38.194> then,<00:27:38.435> like,<00:27:38.660> yeah,<00:27:38.836> that,<00:27:39.077> that—<00:27:39.318> then<00:27:39.559> you<00:27:39.719> get<00:27:39.816> super<00:27:40.346> crazy.

00:27:40.763 --> 00:27:43.059
Like,<00:27:41.020> at<00:27:41.084> that<00:27:41.309> point,<00:27:41.791> none<00:27:41.967> of<00:27:42.289> nothing<00:27:42.610> kind<00:27:42.770> of<00:27:42.915> matters.

00:27:43.770 --> 00:27:44.320
Yeah.

00:27:44.320 --> 00:27:44.340
Yeah.

00:27:44.340 --> 00:27:45.120
Which<00:27:44.420> is<00:27:44.580> pretty<00:27:44.720> wild.

00:27:45.580 --> 00:27:55.270
You've<00:27:45.660> mentioned,<00:27:46.080> we've,<00:27:46.300> as<00:27:46.400> we,<00:27:46.760> as<00:27:46.761> you've<00:27:47.000> talked<00:27:47.080> about<00:27:47.300> PR,<00:27:47.740> I've<00:27:47.800> been<00:27:47.900> thinking<00:27:48.200> like,<00:27:48.800> you<00:27:48.820> haven't<00:27:48.980> really<00:27:49.160> mentioned<00:27:49.440> like<00:27:49.680> pitching<00:27:50.640> media<00:27:51.740> organizations<00:27:52.460> or<00:27:52.980> news<00:27:53.360> outlets<00:27:53.680> or<00:27:53.840> things<00:27:54.040> like<00:27:54.320> that.

00:27:55.400 --> 00:28:05.120
And<00:27:55.580> obviously<00:27:55.920> news<00:27:56.580> and<00:27:56.780> media<00:27:57.020> outlets,<00:27:57.440> it's<00:27:57.840> kind<00:27:58.160> of<00:27:58.680> waned<00:27:59.120> and<00:27:59.260> they've,<00:28:00.180> for<00:28:00.181> whatever<00:28:00.500> reason,<00:28:00.820> we<00:28:00.860> don't<00:28:00.980> have<00:28:01.060> to<00:28:01.100> get<00:28:01.180> into<00:28:01.300> some<00:28:01.440> of<00:28:01.560> it's<00:28:01.720> political,<00:28:03.120> maybe<00:28:03.520> don't<00:28:03.660> have<00:28:03.780> the<00:28:03.940> influence<00:28:04.180> that<00:28:04.340> they<00:28:04.480> once<00:28:04.720> had.

00:28:05.200 --> 00:28:13.120
Is<00:28:05.420> it<00:28:05.600> more<00:28:05.940> targeted<00:28:06.500> towards<00:28:06.880> influencers<00:28:07.500> now,<00:28:07.880> PR,<00:28:08.360> or<00:28:08.620> is,<00:28:09.140> I<00:28:09.160> mean,<00:28:09.280> what<00:28:09.540> role<00:28:09.760> does<00:28:09.960> like<00:28:10.200> kind<00:28:10.340> of<00:28:10.380> the<00:28:10.540> traditional<00:28:11.220> legacy<00:28:11.620> media<00:28:12.080> play<00:28:12.520> in<00:28:12.660> all<00:28:12.820> of<00:28:12.940> this<00:28:13.060> now?

00:28:13.452 --> 00:28:14.994
It<00:28:13.532> just<00:28:14.400> popped<00:28:14.656> in<00:28:14.689> my<00:28:14.881> head.

00:28:15.042 --> 00:28:16.278
I'll<00:28:15.138> go<00:28:15.283> with<00:28:15.379> this<00:28:15.604> answer,<00:28:16.005> Clint.

00:28:16.423 --> 00:28:20.276
It's<00:28:16.824> a<00:28:16.969> direct<00:28:17.290> analogy<00:28:17.787> to<00:28:17.932> that<00:28:18.109> whole<00:28:18.349> paid<00:28:18.687> earned<00:28:19.233> evolution<00:28:19.811> of<00:28:19.891> earned.

00:28:20.437 --> 00:28:29.204
I<00:28:20.517> mean,<00:28:20.822> 30<00:28:21.063> years<00:28:21.256> ago,<00:28:21.802> I<00:28:21.882> didn't<00:28:22.588> own<00:28:22.685> PR<00:28:23.006> firms<00:28:23.311> 30<00:28:23.472> years<00:28:23.600> ago,<00:28:23.809> but<00:28:23.953> when<00:28:24.050> I<00:28:24.130> was<00:28:24.274> coming<00:28:24.531> up<00:28:24.628> in<00:28:24.756> the<00:28:24.852> entertainment<00:28:25.254> business<00:28:25.655> or,<00:28:25.816> you<00:28:25.912> know,<00:28:26.217> and<00:28:26.362> obviously<00:28:26.779> the<00:28:27.341> entertainment<00:28:27.759> studios<00:28:28.144> own<00:28:28.288> the<00:28:28.321> news<00:28:28.626> networks,<00:28:29.027> right?

00:28:29.493 --> 00:28:31.805
You<00:28:29.525> know,<00:28:29.910> what<00:28:30.071> was<00:28:30.231> your<00:28:30.376> alternative<00:28:30.874> of<00:28:30.954> where<00:28:31.114> to<00:28:31.211> get<00:28:31.420> your<00:28:31.516> news?

00:28:32.463 --> 00:28:34.454
And<00:28:32.624> now<00:28:33.122> the<00:28:33.266> proliferation<00:28:34.005> of<00:28:34.149> eyeballs.

00:28:34.551 --> 00:28:38.645
I<00:28:34.583> mean,<00:28:34.791> advertisers<00:28:35.369> follow<00:28:35.755> eyeballs<00:28:36.253> and<00:28:36.397> power<00:28:37.136> influence<00:28:37.617> follows<00:28:38.003> eyeballs,<00:28:38.404> right?

00:28:38.966 --> 00:28:52.047
So,<00:28:39.688> you<00:28:39.720> know,<00:28:39.881> if<00:28:40.025> you're—<00:28:40.362> again,<00:28:40.619> let's<00:28:40.892> go—<00:28:41.053> if<00:28:41.133> you're<00:28:41.454> under<00:28:41.711> 30,<00:28:42.192> if<00:28:42.272> you're<00:28:42.417> under<00:28:42.577> 40,<00:28:43.235> are<00:28:43.380> you<00:28:43.476> watching<00:28:43.877> the<00:28:43.974> nightly<00:28:44.375> news,<00:28:44.905> um,<00:28:45.081> or<00:28:45.145> are<00:28:45.306> you<00:28:45.402> getting<00:28:45.643> your<00:28:45.819> news<00:28:46.108> from<00:28:46.269> your<00:28:46.365> TikTok<00:28:46.766> feed,<00:28:47.408> from<00:28:47.633> your<00:28:47.890> Instagram<00:28:48.291> feed,<00:28:48.757> from,<00:28:49.559> you<00:28:49.591> know,<00:28:50.121> your<00:28:50.217> Facebook<00:28:50.699> feed,<00:28:51.260> from<00:28:51.421> YouTube,<00:28:51.822> really?

00:28:52.368 --> 00:28:55.353
And<00:28:52.464> so<00:28:52.785> I<00:28:52.817> couldn't<00:28:52.994> even<00:28:53.106> tell<00:28:53.234> you<00:28:53.331> who<00:28:53.411> the<00:28:53.507> nightly<00:28:53.828> news<00:28:54.069> anchors<00:28:54.470> are,<00:28:55.096> you<00:28:55.128> know?

00:28:55.658 --> 00:28:56.124
Exactly.

00:28:56.701 --> 00:29:02.993
You<00:28:56.782> want<00:28:56.862> to<00:28:56.894> see<00:28:57.054> somebody<00:28:57.375> stumped,<00:28:58.146> ask<00:28:58.242> someone<00:28:58.788> who,<00:28:59.269> who<00:28:59.590> anchors<00:28:59.992> the<00:29:00.072> CBS—<00:29:00.634> you<00:29:00.714> know,<00:29:00.794> I—<00:29:01.532> and<00:29:01.613> I'm<00:29:01.693> sure<00:29:01.934> they're<00:29:02.078> fantastic,<00:29:02.736> by<00:29:02.881> the<00:29:02.961> way.

00:29:03.298 --> 00:29:03.699
I<00:29:03.442> just<00:29:03.603> mean—.

00:29:03.699 --> 00:29:04.389
Sure,<00:29:03.956> yeah,<00:29:04.181> exactly.

00:29:04.642 --> 00:29:06.156
So<00:29:04.662> it's<00:29:05.706> not<00:29:05.867> their<00:29:06.028> fault.

00:29:06.204 --> 00:29:13.320
It's<00:29:06.831> not<00:29:07.377> that<00:29:07.811> CNN<00:29:08.598> or<00:29:08.678> CBS<00:29:09.256> or<00:29:09.320> ABC<00:29:09.561> or<00:29:09.642> NBC<00:29:10.027> have<00:29:10.236> to<00:29:11.007> do<00:29:11.569> anything<00:29:11.955> other<00:29:12.212> than<00:29:12.356> impressive<00:29:12.999> work.

00:29:13.481 --> 00:29:29.495
It's<00:29:13.738> that<00:29:14.139> as<00:29:14.364> a<00:29:14.766> share<00:29:15.328> of<00:29:15.649> mind<00:29:16.693> of<00:29:16.854> the<00:29:16.950> American<00:29:17.432> consumer<00:29:18.075> on<00:29:18.316> news,<00:29:19.103> if<00:29:19.520> in<00:29:19.665> Walter<00:29:20.002> Cronkite's<00:29:20.645> day<00:29:20.886> they<00:29:21.110> represented<00:29:21.833> 100%—<00:29:22.636> of<00:29:22.877> course<00:29:23.038> there<00:29:23.102> was<00:29:23.215> no<00:29:23.311> CNN<00:29:23.777> then,<00:29:24.018> but,<00:29:24.725> um,<00:29:25.447> um,<00:29:25.769> you<00:29:25.945> had<00:29:26.010> CNN<00:29:26.363> in<00:29:26.491> the<00:29:26.668> '70s,<00:29:27.070> '80s<00:29:27.246> then—<00:29:28.033> but<00:29:28.756> today<00:29:29.142> what<00:29:29.302> are<00:29:29.415> they?

00:29:29.559 --> 00:29:31.180
Are<00:29:29.736> they<00:29:30.282> Are<00:29:30.426> they<00:29:30.602> even<00:29:30.779> a<00:29:30.843> third?

00:29:31.468 --> 00:29:33.873
You<00:29:31.500> know,<00:29:31.805> I<00:29:31.965> asked<00:29:32.125> that<00:29:32.350> openly<00:29:32.847> without<00:29:33.167> knowing<00:29:33.408> the<00:29:33.568> answer.

00:29:34.289 --> 00:29:35.412
I'd<00:29:34.370> be<00:29:34.450> surprised<00:29:34.947> if<00:29:35.075> they<00:29:35.235> were.

00:29:35.572 --> 00:29:43.667
So<00:29:36.518> as<00:29:36.694> PR<00:29:37.095> professionals,<00:29:38.922> you<00:29:39.034> need<00:29:39.419> to<00:29:39.563> get<00:29:39.724> your<00:29:39.836> story<00:29:40.685> to<00:29:40.766> 100—<00:29:41.166> you're<00:29:41.263> trying<00:29:41.519> to<00:29:41.583> get<00:29:41.727> your<00:29:41.808> story<00:29:42.064> to<00:29:42.144> 100%<00:29:42.625> of<00:29:42.785> the<00:29:42.882> American<00:29:43.266> consumer.

00:29:43.747 --> 00:29:55.032
And,<00:29:44.453> and<00:29:44.549> so<00:29:44.885> digital<00:29:45.575> outlets,<00:29:46.536> there's<00:29:46.713> no<00:29:47.258> one<00:29:47.979> or<00:29:48.075> very<00:29:48.316> few—<00:29:49.181> I<00:29:49.197> would<00:29:49.358> almost<00:29:49.598> go<00:29:49.758> no<00:29:50.304> one<00:29:50.720> digital<00:29:51.265> outlet<00:29:51.987> has<00:29:52.179> as<00:29:52.403> big<00:29:52.884> an<00:29:52.965> impact<00:29:53.381> as<00:29:53.526> CNN<00:29:54.006> or<00:29:54.103> ABC<00:29:54.471> or<00:29:54.552> CBS.

00:29:55.369 --> 00:30:05.227
But<00:29:55.465> when<00:29:55.545> you<00:29:55.609> factor<00:29:56.235> in,<00:29:56.635> you<00:29:56.667> know,<00:29:57.052> our<00:29:57.293> lists<00:29:57.693> of<00:29:57.854> 1,000<00:29:59.232> digital<00:29:59.617> outlets,<00:30:00.403> then,<00:30:01.044> and<00:30:01.140> podcasts<00:30:01.990> and<00:30:02.326> YouTube<00:30:02.582> channels<00:30:03.143> and<00:30:03.304> etc.,<00:30:03.784> then<00:30:04.329> they<00:30:04.425> become<00:30:04.746> way<00:30:04.906> bigger,<00:30:05.130> right?

00:30:05.451 --> 00:30:10.964
Yeah,<00:30:05.611> it's<00:30:06.092> not<00:30:06.332> even—<00:30:06.813> yeah,<00:30:06.989> the<00:30:07.134> independent<00:30:08.656> ecosystem<00:30:09.778> when<00:30:09.954> combined<00:30:10.435> together<00:30:10.899> is—.

00:30:11.396 --> 00:30:13.640
Yeah,<00:30:11.717> it's<00:30:11.957> bigger<00:30:12.262> than<00:30:12.374> the<00:30:12.454> traditional,<00:30:12.983> 100%.

00:30:13.784 --> 00:30:20.995
And<00:30:13.848> do<00:30:13.896> you<00:30:13.960> remember<00:30:14.281> in<00:30:14.377> our<00:30:14.665> lifetimes<00:30:15.162> when<00:30:15.386> cable<00:30:16.364> viewership<00:30:16.989> passed<00:30:17.390> network,<00:30:17.967> and<00:30:18.047> now<00:30:18.287> you've<00:30:18.447> got<00:30:18.624> streaming<00:30:19.473> viewership<00:30:20.114> passes<00:30:20.611> cable?

00:30:21.236 --> 00:30:30.793
You<00:30:21.332> know,<00:30:21.492> it's—<00:30:21.796> you<00:30:21.877> know,<00:30:22.117> I<00:30:22.213> remember<00:30:22.694> when<00:30:22.838> I<00:30:22.870> started,<00:30:23.415> you<00:30:23.495> know,<00:30:23.655> cable<00:30:24.120> was<00:30:24.377> the<00:30:24.457> laughingstock,<00:30:25.338> or,<00:30:25.562> you<00:30:25.594> know,<00:30:25.739> people<00:30:25.979> said,<00:30:26.284> oh<00:30:26.540> man,<00:30:26.716> I'd<00:30:26.925> never<00:30:27.181> want<00:30:27.309> to<00:30:27.357> make<00:30:27.517> a<00:30:27.598> TV<00:30:27.983> movie<00:30:28.240> for<00:30:28.449> Lifetime,<00:30:29.091> HBO,<00:30:30.070> nobody<00:30:30.279> will<00:30:30.407> see<00:30:30.712> it.

00:30:31.017 --> 00:30:41.839
And<00:30:31.419> now,<00:30:32.238> you<00:30:32.318> know,<00:30:32.639> and<00:30:32.784> I<00:30:33.040> think<00:30:33.281> there's<00:30:33.522> a<00:30:33.538> little<00:30:33.843> bit<00:30:34.004> of<00:30:34.148> that,<00:30:34.421> like,<00:30:34.710> if—<00:30:35.192> and<00:30:35.288> especially<00:30:35.850> in<00:30:35.930> what<00:30:36.155> we<00:30:36.332> do,<00:30:36.557> you're<00:30:36.878> driving<00:30:38.564> awareness<00:30:39.142> to<00:30:39.302> a<00:30:39.463> particular<00:30:40.410> date<00:30:40.827> on<00:30:40.908> so<00:30:41.068> much<00:30:41.309> of<00:30:41.389> what<00:30:41.550> we<00:30:41.694> do,<00:30:41.775> right?

00:30:42.577 --> 00:30:49.240
And<00:30:43.155> if<00:30:43.252> you're<00:30:43.396> gonna—<00:30:44.199> if<00:30:44.279> you're<00:30:44.360> gonna<00:30:44.520> do<00:30:44.665> that<00:30:44.841> with<00:30:45.002> just,<00:30:45.403> uh,<00:30:46.206> the<00:30:46.350> traditional<00:30:46.768> media,<00:30:47.249> you're<00:30:47.394> going<00:30:47.490> to<00:30:47.571> leave<00:30:47.795> out<00:30:47.972> two-thirds<00:30:48.389> of<00:30:48.438> your<00:30:48.598> potential<00:30:48.935> audience.

00:30:49.722 --> 00:30:56.224
At<00:30:49.818> what<00:30:49.979> point—<00:30:50.380> and<00:30:50.605> I<00:30:50.621> know<00:30:50.782> that<00:30:50.926> this<00:30:51.087> happens,<00:30:51.568> but<00:30:51.681> it's<00:30:51.889> not<00:30:52.211> completely<00:30:52.708> mainstream<00:30:53.334> yet—<00:30:53.656> do<00:30:54.057> shows<00:30:54.539> get<00:30:54.715> released<00:30:55.277> entirely<00:30:55.919> on<00:30:56.080> YouTube?

00:30:56.706 --> 00:31:03.772
Like<00:30:56.899> there's<00:30:57.204> a<00:30:57.268> 24/7<00:30:58.248> news<00:30:58.569> channel<00:30:58.970> entirely<00:30:59.677> on<00:30:59.854> YouTube,<00:31:00.416> like,<00:31:01.122> and<00:31:01.203> that<00:31:01.315> becomes<00:31:01.765> more,<00:31:02.648> you<00:31:02.680> know,<00:31:03.146> mainstream.

00:31:03.868 --> 00:31:08.959
And<00:31:04.045> again,<00:31:04.334> I<00:31:04.366> know<00:31:04.527> like<00:31:04.993> there's<00:31:05.217> probably<00:31:05.635> both<00:31:05.779> of<00:31:05.876> those<00:31:06.101> things<00:31:06.277> are<00:31:06.341> happening,<00:31:07.160> but<00:31:07.241> none<00:31:07.482> that<00:31:07.883> immediately<00:31:08.365> come<00:31:08.542> to<00:31:08.686> mind.

00:31:09.007 --> 00:31:20.586
At<00:31:09.088> what<00:31:09.248> point<00:31:09.489> does<00:31:09.650> that,<00:31:10.356> um,<00:31:10.693> kind<00:31:10.918> of—<00:31:11.015> because<00:31:11.480> that<00:31:11.657> to<00:31:11.801> me<00:31:12.074> seems<00:31:12.380> like<00:31:12.540> that's<00:31:12.781> where<00:31:12.926> you've<00:31:13.166> crossed<00:31:13.423> into<00:31:13.648> something<00:31:14.226> that's,<00:31:14.772> um,<00:31:15.575> entirely<00:31:16.073> independent<00:31:16.619> owned,<00:31:16.860> and<00:31:16.956> then<00:31:17.101> you're<00:31:17.278> only<00:31:17.518> like<00:31:17.920> up<00:31:18.080> against<00:31:18.643> what<00:31:18.803> YouTube<00:31:19.189> would<00:31:19.285> allow<00:31:19.927> to<00:31:20.072> be<00:31:20.168> published.

00:31:20.714 --> 00:31:23.749
Yeah,<00:31:21.276> and,<00:31:21.597> and<00:31:21.838> it'll<00:31:22.079> come<00:31:22.336> down<00:31:22.754> to<00:31:23.540> money.

00:31:24.022 --> 00:31:30.576
Like<00:31:24.198> a<00:31:24.246> lot<00:31:24.406> of<00:31:24.503> things,<00:31:24.727> it<00:31:24.807> has<00:31:25.047> the<00:31:25.128> advantage,<00:31:25.544> you<00:31:25.640> know,<00:31:26.025> the<00:31:26.089> internet<00:31:26.490> has<00:31:26.826> the<00:31:26.890> advantage<00:31:27.227> to<00:31:27.307> tear<00:31:27.547> down<00:31:28.092> how<00:31:28.268> I<00:31:28.365> started<00:31:28.669> in<00:31:28.765> the<00:31:28.813> business<00:31:29.134> with<00:31:29.214> geographic<00:31:29.871> boundaries,<00:31:30.368> right?

00:31:30.736 --> 00:31:37.851
When<00:31:30.832> you<00:31:30.897> sold<00:31:31.153> a<00:31:31.169> TV<00:31:31.473> show<00:31:31.682> and<00:31:31.778> you<00:31:31.810> sold<00:31:32.050> it<00:31:32.114> to<00:31:32.259> Germany,<00:31:32.900> and<00:31:32.996> Germany<00:31:33.316> starts<00:31:33.701> airing<00:31:33.957> in<00:31:34.118> September,<00:31:34.598> but<00:31:34.711> then<00:31:34.823> you<00:31:34.855> sold<00:31:35.095> it<00:31:35.159> to<00:31:35.239> Italy<00:31:35.480> and<00:31:35.560> they<00:31:35.640> start<00:31:35.944> airing<00:31:36.121> in<00:31:36.201> July,<00:31:36.585> you<00:31:36.666> couldn't<00:31:36.922> sync<00:31:37.387> your<00:31:37.483> shows.

00:31:38.829 --> 00:31:39.566
Excuse<00:31:39.486> me.

00:31:40.191 --> 00:31:50.304
Um,<00:31:41.089> with<00:31:41.409> internet,<00:31:42.114> or<00:31:42.274> what<00:31:42.435> we're<00:31:42.531> now<00:31:42.771> calling<00:31:43.092> FAST<00:31:43.492> channels,<00:31:44.294> right,<00:31:44.758> free<00:31:45.015> advertising<00:31:45.656> supported<00:31:46.136> television,<00:31:46.858> in<00:31:46.938> theory<00:31:47.162> you<00:31:47.258> could<00:31:47.402> launch<00:31:47.979> a<00:31:48.140> global<00:31:48.540> television<00:31:49.005> network<00:31:49.662> in<00:31:49.742> real<00:31:49.983> time.

00:31:50.705 --> 00:31:54.489
Now<00:31:50.865> you<00:31:50.945> run<00:31:51.122> into<00:31:51.330> the<00:31:51.426> issues<00:31:51.683> of<00:31:51.811> language<00:31:52.308> and,<00:31:52.934> you<00:31:53.014> know,<00:31:53.110> time<00:31:53.367> of<00:31:53.495> day<00:31:53.655> and<00:31:53.816> things<00:31:54.008> of<00:31:54.088> that<00:31:54.233> nature.

00:31:54.618 --> 00:32:01.225
But,<00:31:55.099> you<00:31:55.131> know,<00:31:55.660> open<00:31:56.061> question<00:31:56.542> on<00:31:56.638> a<00:31:56.783> YouTube<00:31:57.039> channel<00:31:57.344> for<00:31:57.520> news—<00:31:57.905> now,<00:31:58.338> if<00:31:58.466> it's<00:31:58.707> independently<00:31:59.300> sourced,<00:31:59.846> then<00:31:59.990> that's<00:32:00.166> where<00:32:00.311> the<00:32:00.375> money<00:32:00.567> comes<00:32:00.888> in,<00:32:01.048> right?

00:32:01.754 --> 00:32:14.616
Versus<00:32:02.476> taking<00:32:02.893> the<00:32:02.989> news<00:32:03.374> that's<00:32:04.015> quite<00:32:04.176> frankly<00:32:04.641> already<00:32:04.978> being<00:32:05.763> the<00:32:05.844> heavy<00:32:06.020> cost<00:32:06.357> of<00:32:06.421> researching<00:32:06.902> it<00:32:06.998> from<00:32:07.223> the<00:32:07.319> New<00:32:07.367> York<00:32:07.543> Times,<00:32:07.944> Wall<00:32:08.105> Street<00:32:08.666> Journal,<00:32:09.147> Washington<00:32:09.628> Post,<00:32:09.965> and<00:32:10.045> then<00:32:10.735> adding<00:32:10.975> your<00:32:11.088> opinion<00:32:11.489> or<00:32:11.569> spin<00:32:11.938> on<00:32:12.098> it<00:32:12.194> and<00:32:12.355> putting<00:32:12.595> up<00:32:12.691> a<00:32:12.755> YouTube<00:32:13.060> channel—<00:32:13.702> obviously<00:32:14.103> much<00:32:14.343> cheaper.

00:32:14.840 --> 00:32:14.920
Yeah.

00:32:15.001 --> 00:32:18.500
So<00:32:15.867> Um,<00:32:16.525> but<00:32:16.702> it<00:32:16.991> does<00:32:17.248> beg<00:32:17.553> the<00:32:17.649> obvious<00:32:18.115> question.

00:32:18.548 --> 00:32:20.475
I<00:32:18.613> mean,<00:32:19.158> how<00:32:19.335> much<00:32:19.576> capital<00:32:19.977> would<00:32:20.122> it<00:32:20.218> take?

00:32:20.539 --> 00:32:25.837
And<00:32:20.619> I'm<00:32:20.684> sure<00:32:20.844> they've<00:32:21.005> investigated<00:32:21.663> it<00:32:21.888> with<00:32:22.048> those<00:32:22.305> news<00:32:22.546> outlets,<00:32:23.092> the<00:32:23.188> traditional<00:32:23.525> news<00:32:23.814> outlets,<00:32:24.071> start<00:32:24.392> a<00:32:24.408> 24/7<00:32:25.339> video<00:32:25.596> channel.

00:32:26.062 --> 00:32:35.438
Yeah,<00:32:26.142> it's<00:32:26.335> an<00:32:26.463> interesting—<00:32:27.587> and<00:32:27.635> I'm<00:32:27.764> sure<00:32:27.924> they<00:32:28.004> do<00:32:28.245> have<00:32:28.406> their<00:32:28.566> own<00:32:28.647> apps<00:32:29.032> and<00:32:29.112> stuff,<00:32:29.369> but<00:32:29.770> you<00:32:29.851> know,<00:32:30.011> to<00:32:30.252> go<00:32:30.493> on<00:32:30.734> where<00:32:30.894> everybody<00:32:31.296> is,<00:32:31.601> which<00:32:31.761> is<00:32:31.857> like<00:32:32.082> YouTube<00:32:32.596> or,<00:32:32.885> you<00:32:32.917> know,<00:32:33.607> those<00:32:33.800> types<00:32:34.025> of<00:32:34.169> places,<00:32:34.667> which<00:32:34.828> is<00:32:34.908> interesting.

00:32:35.951 --> 00:32:42.502
What<00:32:36.080> have<00:32:36.192> you<00:32:36.353> learned<00:32:36.818> over<00:32:37.011> the,<00:32:37.460> over<00:32:37.621> the<00:32:37.717> course<00:32:38.038> of<00:32:38.199> your<00:32:38.681> career<00:32:39.082> so<00:32:39.323> far<00:32:39.644> about<00:32:39.965> leadership,<00:32:40.623> about<00:32:40.992> business,<00:32:41.554> about<00:32:41.892> integrity?

00:32:42.919 --> 00:32:44.637
Um,<00:32:43.096> what<00:32:43.224> have<00:32:43.336> you<00:32:43.497> learned<00:32:43.979> looking<00:32:44.300> back<00:32:44.557> now?

00:32:44.942 --> 00:32:47.284
Well,<00:32:45.086> you'd<00:32:45.182> like<00:32:45.407> to<00:32:45.503> believe<00:32:45.728> you<00:32:45.824> learned<00:32:46.049> about<00:32:46.225> integrity<00:32:46.690> from<00:32:46.851> your<00:32:46.931> parents.

00:32:47.509 --> 00:32:49.530
I<00:32:47.525> certainly<00:32:48.134> feel<00:32:48.327> that<00:32:48.616> way.

00:32:50.140 --> 00:32:52.979
Always<00:32:50.862> better<00:32:51.038> to<00:32:51.118> be<00:32:51.343> honest<00:32:52.321> in<00:32:52.466> all<00:32:52.578> that<00:32:52.787> you<00:32:52.883> do.

00:32:54.407 --> 00:32:59.621
I<00:32:54.471> heard<00:32:54.648> a<00:32:54.728> great<00:32:55.209> quote<00:32:55.915> once<00:32:56.653> recently<00:32:57.230> from<00:32:57.616> Mark<00:32:57.856> Twain<00:32:58.241> that<00:32:58.418> really<00:32:58.819> resonated<00:32:59.364> with<00:32:59.541> me.

00:32:59.685 --> 00:33:09.583
I<00:32:59.701> think<00:33:00.648> there's<00:33:00.984> been<00:33:01.706> different<00:33:03.535> versions<00:33:04.017> of<00:33:04.049> this<00:33:04.514> over<00:33:04.674> the<00:33:04.755> decades,<00:33:05.252> I'm<00:33:05.396> sure<00:33:05.476> in<00:33:05.637> centuries,<00:33:06.182> but<00:33:06.455> about<00:33:07.161> what<00:33:07.386> you<00:33:07.466> choose<00:33:07.722> to<00:33:07.867> worry<00:33:08.107> about,<00:33:08.829> right,<00:33:09.006> Clint?

00:33:09.631 --> 00:33:10.915
Or<00:33:09.728> don't<00:33:09.888> sweat<00:33:10.129> the<00:33:10.193> small<00:33:10.450> stuff.

00:33:12.038 --> 00:33:12.631
And<00:33:12.214> whatnot.

00:33:12.920 --> 00:33:18.085
And,<00:33:13.321> you<00:33:13.353> know,<00:33:13.882> I<00:33:13.963> always<00:33:14.219> enjoyed<00:33:14.540> Mark<00:33:14.781> Twain's<00:33:15.101> quotes<00:33:15.342> because<00:33:15.486> there's<00:33:15.647> this<00:33:15.984> spark<00:33:16.320> of<00:33:16.385> humor<00:33:16.689> in<00:33:16.769> them<00:33:16.930> and<00:33:17.042> it<00:33:17.411> really<00:33:17.587> makes<00:33:17.812> you<00:33:17.908> think.

00:33:18.149 --> 00:33:25.912
And<00:33:18.213> he<00:33:18.406> said<00:33:18.614> something<00:33:18.855> like,<00:33:19.240> you<00:33:19.272> know,<00:33:19.737> I'm<00:33:19.833> now<00:33:20.090> an<00:33:20.234> old<00:33:20.459> man<00:33:21.998> and<00:33:22.079> I've<00:33:22.319> known<00:33:22.881> a<00:33:23.025> great<00:33:23.362> many<00:33:23.602> troubles,<00:33:24.244> but<00:33:24.549> most<00:33:24.870> of<00:33:24.966> them<00:33:25.271> never<00:33:25.591> happened.

00:33:26.794 --> 00:33:35.664
And<00:33:28.398> I<00:33:28.495> think<00:33:29.537> there's<00:33:29.842> just<00:33:30.082> a<00:33:30.099> lot<00:33:30.355> of<00:33:30.419> truth<00:33:30.740> in<00:33:30.820> that,<00:33:30.997> or<00:33:31.141> that,<00:33:31.446> you<00:33:31.526> know,<00:33:31.702> you<00:33:31.783> want<00:33:31.911> to<00:33:31.943> test<00:33:32.264> your<00:33:32.360> memory,<00:33:33.290> try<00:33:33.531> remembering<00:33:34.012> what<00:33:34.124> you<00:33:34.205> were<00:33:34.429> worried<00:33:34.686> about<00:33:34.910> one<00:33:35.135> year<00:33:35.311> ago<00:33:35.472> today.

00:33:36.258 --> 00:33:59.850

00:34:32.352 --> 00:34:32.914
I<00:34:32.368> love<00:34:32.609> that.

00:34:33.557 --> 00:34:35.629
Finally,<00:34:33.974> we<00:34:34.119> end<00:34:34.440> every<00:34:34.681> interview<00:34:34.874> with<00:34:35.003> the<00:34:35.083> same<00:34:35.324> question.

When<00:34:41.033> you<00:34:41.257> hear<00:34:41.369> that,<00:34:41.658> who<00:34:41.754> gave<00:34:41.995> you<00:34:42.155> a<00:34:42.219> chance<00:34:42.492> to<00:34:42.636> get<00:34:42.780> you<00:34:42.877> to<00:34:42.957> where<00:34:43.181> you<00:34:43.294> are<00:34:43.438> today?

00:34:46.500 --> 00:34:48.216
Especially<00:34:46.949> as<00:34:47.126> a<00:34:47.238> solo<00:34:47.767> person.

00:34:48.793 --> 00:34:51.551
But<00:34:49.050> if<00:34:49.194> I<00:34:49.274> go<00:34:49.451> back<00:34:49.691> to<00:34:49.771> the<00:34:49.851> beginning,<00:34:50.894> I<00:34:50.974> referenced<00:34:51.359> them<00:34:51.471> earlier.

00:34:54.341 --> 00:35:01.620
I'm<00:34:54.469> happy<00:34:54.613> to<00:34:54.726> go<00:34:54.806> there<00:34:54.918> if<00:34:54.982> you<00:34:55.030> want,<00:34:55.143> but<00:34:55.608> no,<00:34:55.784> no,<00:34:56.024> because,<00:34:56.345> you<00:34:56.441> know,<00:34:56.505> my<00:34:56.586> parents<00:34:56.922> saved,<00:34:57.612> um,<00:34:58.173> for<00:34:58.269> college<00:34:59.055> and,<00:34:59.696> and,<00:34:59.953> uh,<00:35:00.498> I'm<00:35:00.738> 7<00:35:00.979> feet<00:35:01.187> tall,<00:35:01.316> Clint.

00:35:01.716 --> 00:35:03.961
I<00:35:01.797> played<00:35:02.021> college<00:35:02.342> basketball<00:35:02.839> at<00:35:02.919> Creighton<00:35:03.400> University.

00:35:04.507 --> 00:35:11.685

00:35:50.342 --> 00:35:59.944
Sure,<00:35:50.582> I<00:35:50.630> was<00:35:50.742> at<00:35:50.822> a<00:35:50.838> stage<00:35:51.143> in<00:35:51.175> my<00:35:51.303> life<00:35:51.544> when<00:35:51.640> I<00:35:51.704> could<00:35:51.848> take<00:35:52.025> that<00:35:52.185> chance,<00:35:52.586> but<00:35:52.762> I<00:35:53.772> only<00:35:54.189> could<00:35:54.413> take<00:35:54.670> that<00:35:54.830> chance<00:35:55.311> versus<00:35:55.615> so<00:35:56.112> many<00:35:56.433> of<00:35:56.673> my<00:35:57.956> classmates<00:35:58.517> because<00:35:59.222> I<00:35:59.254> didn't<00:35:59.399> have<00:35:59.527> any<00:35:59.703> debt.

00:36:00.120 --> 00:36:04.897
You<00:36:00.216> know,<00:36:00.360> I<00:36:00.505> think<00:36:00.697> I'd<00:36:00.825> saved<00:36:01.627> maybe<00:36:02.204> $15,000<00:36:03.727> from<00:36:03.887> my<00:36:04.047> job,<00:36:04.528> maybe.

00:36:05.234 --> 00:36:07.561
I<00:36:05.266> don't<00:36:05.410> even<00:36:05.506> think<00:36:05.650> that<00:36:05.763> much<00:36:05.971> at<00:36:06.115> 8<00:36:06.260> months,<00:36:06.613> but<00:36:06.757> I<00:36:06.838> had<00:36:07.014> no<00:36:07.320> debt.

00:36:08.042 --> 00:36:17.535
And<00:36:08.123> so<00:36:08.283> when<00:36:08.380> I<00:36:08.540> talk<00:36:08.926> to,<00:36:09.504> you<00:36:09.600> know,<00:36:09.681> we're<00:36:09.809> a<00:36:09.889> company<00:36:10.163> of<00:36:10.291> 270<00:36:11.512> today<00:36:12.218> and<00:36:12.331> we've<00:36:12.475> probably<00:36:12.957> got<00:36:13.584> over<00:36:13.728> 100,<00:36:14.869> over<00:36:15.206> maybe<00:36:15.431> even<00:36:15.752> half<00:36:16.314> that<00:36:16.427> are<00:36:16.796> under<00:36:16.973> 30<00:36:17.182> years<00:36:17.439> old.

00:36:17.776 --> 00:36:23.012
And<00:36:17.856> I<00:36:17.936> talk<00:36:18.338> about<00:36:19.077> saving<00:36:19.462> their<00:36:19.559> money,<00:36:20.024> you<00:36:20.105> know,<00:36:20.571> please<00:36:21.085> put<00:36:21.309> your<00:36:21.390> money<00:36:21.615> into<00:36:21.775> our<00:36:21.952> 401<00:36:22.675> program.

00:36:23.076 --> 00:36:30.898
I<00:36:23.157> think<00:36:23.333> about,<00:36:23.783> you<00:36:23.815> know,<00:36:24.586> financial<00:36:24.923> literacy,<00:36:25.951> you<00:36:26.048> know,<00:36:26.529> and<00:36:26.610> I'm<00:36:27.076> very,<00:36:27.493> very,<00:36:27.814> very<00:36:28.136> grateful<00:36:28.537> because<00:36:28.842> I<00:36:29.003> had<00:36:29.180> a<00:36:29.244> classmate<00:36:30.063> who's<00:36:30.304> from<00:36:30.529> Utah.

00:36:31.171 --> 00:36:33.211
Great,<00:36:31.493> great,<00:36:31.910> great<00:36:32.215> guy,<00:36:32.472> John<00:36:32.794> Wonderly.

00:36:33.275 --> 00:36:41.352
We've<00:36:33.500> lost<00:36:33.741> touch,<00:36:34.062> but<00:36:34.143> he<00:36:34.239> came<00:36:34.544> into<00:36:35.122> into<00:36:35.315> law<00:36:35.540> school<00:36:36.391> and<00:36:36.567> married<00:36:37.033> and<00:36:37.097> he<00:36:37.129> had<00:36:37.290> a<00:36:37.354> couple<00:36:37.547> of<00:36:37.611> kids<00:36:38.093> and<00:36:38.157> he<00:36:38.253> had<00:36:38.398> a<00:36:38.414> couple<00:36:38.719> more<00:36:39.136> and<00:36:39.457> Debbie,<00:36:39.778> his<00:36:39.939> wife,<00:36:40.324> just<00:36:40.725> lovely<00:36:41.063> lady.

00:36:41.801 --> 00:36:44.113
And<00:36:41.930> I<00:36:41.946> know<00:36:42.170> he<00:36:42.267> took<00:36:42.748> a<00:36:42.829> starter<00:36:43.069> job<00:36:43.310> he<00:36:43.374> may<00:36:43.471> have<00:36:43.551> been<00:36:43.696> happy<00:36:43.936> with.

00:36:44.514 --> 00:36:49.010
I<00:36:44.595> don't<00:36:44.739> want<00:36:44.835> to,<00:36:45.397> but<00:36:45.494> it<00:36:45.558> was<00:36:45.718> a<00:36:45.783> job<00:36:45.975> none<00:36:46.120> of<00:36:46.200> us<00:36:46.296> thought<00:36:46.585> he<00:36:47.163> would<00:36:47.324> necessarily<00:36:48.030> gravitate<00:36:48.608> towards.

00:36:49.411 --> 00:36:59.734
But<00:36:49.877> he<00:36:50.438> wanted<00:36:50.695> to<00:36:50.727> move<00:36:50.856> back<00:36:51.016> to<00:36:51.161> Utah,<00:36:51.402> but<00:36:51.482> he<00:36:51.562> had<00:36:51.610> to<00:36:51.659> stay<00:36:51.883> on<00:36:51.915> the<00:36:51.964> East<00:36:52.140> Coast<00:36:52.381> because<00:36:52.686> he<00:36:52.718> had,<00:36:53.409> you<00:36:53.441> know,<00:36:53.746> so<00:36:53.890> many<00:36:54.003> of<00:36:54.067> my<00:36:54.147> classmates<00:36:54.629> had<00:36:54.853> debt<00:36:55.094> from<00:36:55.255> both<00:36:55.431> undergrad<00:36:55.897> and<00:36:55.993> grad,<00:36:56.459> you<00:36:56.539> know,<00:36:56.957> and<00:36:57.101> I<00:36:57.133> see<00:36:57.358> that<00:36:57.599> teaching<00:36:57.920> at<00:36:57.984> the<00:36:58.064> University<00:36:58.867> of<00:36:59.044> Miami.

00:37:00.248 --> 00:37:09.528
And<00:37:00.392> so<00:37:00.729> I<00:37:00.874> think<00:37:01.051> the<00:37:01.532> There<00:37:01.693> is<00:37:01.837> no<00:37:02.094> Dolphin<00:37:02.576> today<00:37:03.700> without<00:37:04.021> the<00:37:04.101> sacrifice<00:37:04.727> my<00:37:04.904> parents<00:37:05.306> made<00:37:05.771> and<00:37:05.868> allowed<00:37:06.124> me<00:37:06.269> to<00:37:06.349> start<00:37:06.654> my<00:37:06.815> life<00:37:07.313> with<00:37:07.537> that<00:37:07.939> mighty<00:37:08.453> $5,000<00:37:09.239> bonus.

00:37:09.641 --> 00:37:11.455
And,<00:37:10.107> um,<00:37:10.845> but<00:37:10.990> without<00:37:11.247> that—.

00:37:11.471 --> 00:37:12.483
That's<00:37:11.889> beautiful,<00:37:12.322> man.
