# Perkins Miller saw the problem coming

Perkins Miller is no longer the CEO of Fandom. [He left in October 2025](https://variety.com/2026/digital/news/fandom-new-ceo-jay-sullivan-1236652090/?ref=ceo.com). On October 22 of that year, [PlayOn Sports named him chief executive](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/playon-sports-names-perkins-miller-ceo-founder-david-rudolph-to-lead-streaming-and-analytics-business-302590528.html?ref=ceo.com), an Atlanta company that streams high school games and sells tickets. The following February [Fandom's board hired Jay Sullivan](https://about.fandom.com/news/fandom-appoints-jay-sullivan-former-mozilla-groupon-facebook-and-twitter-executive-as-ceo?ref=ceo.com), a product executive out of Twitter and Facebook, and Jimmy Wales explained the choice in one phrase: the age of AI.

So it is worth going back to what Miller told the CEO.com Podcast a year before any of that, when he was asked what happens to 300 million monthly visitors if AI answers the question before anyone clicks.

He had thought about it. He said he spent a lot of time on it. His answer was that Fandom's traffic is not the kind AI is good at replacing. "We're not talking about formulating a new vaccine here," he told the CEO.com Podcast. "We're talking about figuring out what's going on with Captain Kirk in this episode." A person lost in Skyrim does not know how to ask a precise question. They want to wander. Google, he said, had started ranking Fandom higher for exactly that reason.

Then he described what Fandom might build instead of waiting. "What if there's a native application on your desktop that you just had to say, 'Hey, I can't get around this wizard. I've been here for 10 minutes, I'm dying here. What do I do?' And we'll be able to say, 'Hey, you know what? You missed going and getting the strength coin back in that closet, and that strength coin will let you beat the wizard.' That's probably not something that Sam Altman's focused on right now."

It was a good answer. Whether it was the right one is now someone else's problem.

Miller came to Fandom with a deck. In 2018, he was running StubHub's business in the Americas, a $5 billion ticket marketplace, and eBay was getting ready to sell it. He had spent years in sports and entertainment and had come to believe that the big platforms, Google and Amazon and Facebook, were leaving vertical communities underserved. He wrote it up. Then Fandom called, and the thesis matched. [He started as CEO in February 2019](https://variety.com/2019/digital/news/fandom-perkins-miller-ceo-1203129212?ref=ceo.com), a year after a TPG-backed group bought the company, when it claimed nearly 200 million monthly visitors.

Fandom began in 2004 as Wikia, Jimmy Wales's attempt to point Wikipedia's software at everything Wikipedia would never cover in depth. By the time Miller sat down with the CEO.com Podcast, it hosted more than 200,000 wikis and 45 million pages, written by a couple hundred thousand volunteers. The Star Wars wiki alone runs to 170,000 pages.

Around that core, the company kept buying. Gamepedia and the D&D Beyond toolset had arrived a month before Miller did, in the Curse Media deal. Under him, Fandom bought Fanatical, which sells PC games, and sold D&D Beyond to Hasbro. In October 2022 [it acquired GameSpot, Metacritic, TV Guide, GameFAQs, Giant Bomb, Cord Cutters News, and Comic Vine from Red Ventures](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/fandom-acquires-leading-entertainment--gaming-brands-including-gamespot-tv-guide-and-metacritic-301638635.html?ref=ceo.com). Four months later it [laid off staff at those sites](https://variety.com/2023/digital/news/fandom-layoffs-giant-bomb-gamespot-metacritic-tv-guide-1235495258/?ref=ceo.com), under 10 percent of a workforce of fewer than 500, by one account. Advertising is 80 percent of revenue. Selling games is the rest.

Asked what makes a community, Miller gave two answers. The first is that people have to share something they care about, and at Fandom that something is the intellectual property itself. Loving horror is a value. Loving anime is an identity. The second is that people need a way to say so, and need to feel safe saying it. "You have to, of course, in our case, maintain the standards so that folks feel like they're safe and feel like they've got a way to connect without getting trolled or otherwise folks behaving badly."

A year earlier, on The Verge's Decoder podcast, he had been asked about a different kind of safety: the ads. Fandom's wikis had become infamous for them, and the host wanted to know how much advertising was right. Miller's answer, which [Decoder clipped and posted](https://www.tiktok.com/@decoderpod/video/7270544800430951723?ref=ceo.com), was this: "We're doing our best to make it as elegant as we can, and yet, we need to drive the economics."

Both statements are true. Both came from the same man about the same site.

The part of the business Miller was most eager to talk about was not the wikis. It was the data. Fandom built a taxonomy of everything on the platform and a product called FanDNA on top of it. No personal information, he said, but 300 million people leave a lot of behavior behind, and Fandom can see what one community does when it is not being a community. "Turns out the people who love RPG fantasy also love horror movies." Studios buy that. Paramount came to Fandom to understand Star Trek canon before writing more of it. Game publishers advertise and get the audience map in return.

He was asked whether Fandom, knowing what it knows about what fans want, would ever make a game. He said no, mostly. A console title costs tens of millions at the low end, hundreds at the high end, and takes years. The big franchises win. He would revisit it if AI made development fast enough to act on a trend before it passed.

Miller's first decade was the Olympics. He was in Salt Lake City for the 2002 Games, streaming live results at a time when that was the frontier of the internet. He was seconded to Sydney in 2000\. From there he went to NBC to run sports and Olympics digital through Beijing and Vancouver, then to WWE, where he launched the WWE Network in 2012, then to the NFL as chief digital officer.

In 2001, he had briefly quit the Olympics for a Utah startup called Campus Pipeline, which was trying to build something like what Facebook later built. He quickly realized it wasn't for him. Mitt Romney, Fraser Bullock, and Dave Busser let him come back.

"I was young back then when I was so inexperienced to have folks like Fraser and Mitt and this guy Dave Busser, who really have seen the world beyond the lens of my whatever it was, outlaw idea and let me take, come back and do what I wanted to do and have an impact," he told the CEO.com Podcast. "If I hadn't been given that chance at that time to do that work, I definitely would not be here where I am today."

When it comes to running a company, he is a schedule man. Six-month clock, two board meetings, quarterly reviews, a monthly executive review, weekly staff. Mondays belong to his executive team. He reads Ethan Mollick on AI and recommends "The Courage to Be Disliked" for its handling of ego.

The thing he said he did not understand early was how few decisions a CEO should make. Everything that reaches the top has been packaged. The person deciding is the person furthest from the material. "The more singular decisions a CEO makes, the slower the organization will go."

He had a test, too, for the moments when CEOs are expected to say something about the world. Does the community of people who love anime need to hear from him about this? Usually not. So he does not speak.

At PlayOn, he is back in sports, back in streaming, back in ticketing, working alongside a founder who ran the place for 17 years. He is also [lead director of Herbalife's board](https://www.herbalife.com/en-us/about-herbalife/our-leadership/perkins-miller?ref=ceo.com). Fandom, under Sullivan, is building for the thing Miller said it could outrun.

Um,<00:00:31.599> yeah,<00:00:31.921> there,<00:00:32.563> uh,<00:00:32.884> this<00:00:33.061> platform,<00:00:34.089> uh,<00:00:34.667> and<00:00:34.763> there<00:00:34.859> are<00:00:34.891> a<00:00:34.908> few<00:00:35.132> pieces<00:00:35.470> of<00:00:35.550> fandom<00:00:35.935> which<00:00:36.048> I'll<00:00:36.353> just<00:00:36.754> describe<00:00:37.188> quickly,<00:00:37.621> but<00:00:38.424> these<00:00:38.505> are<00:00:38.537> about<00:00:38.778> its<00:00:38.986> core<00:00:39.404> are<00:00:39.581> these<00:00:40.207> 200,000+<00:00:41.251> wikis,<00:00:42.038> um,<00:00:43.001> that<00:00:43.644> Jimmy<00:00:43.884> Wales<00:00:44.093> sort<00:00:44.238> of<00:00:44.543> kicked<00:00:44.848> off<00:00:45.041> into<00:00:45.265> the<00:00:45.490> ether<00:00:46.293> after<00:00:46.534> he<00:00:46.695> launched<00:00:46.952> Wikipedia.

00:00:47.979 --> 00:00:50.806
And<00:00:48.172> so,<00:00:49.505> uh,<00:00:49.682> this<00:00:49.730> is<00:00:49.778> about<00:00:50.003> 20<00:00:50.308> years<00:00:50.501> ago.

Um,<00:00:51.753> folks<00:00:52.074> sort<00:00:52.155> of<00:00:52.235> got<00:00:52.396> their<00:00:52.476> hands<00:00:52.829> on<00:00:52.909> them<00:00:53.070> and<00:00:53.215> it<00:00:53.295> became<00:00:53.841> this<00:00:54.018> destination<00:00:55.286> for<00:00:55.350> everybody<00:00:55.703> who<00:00:55.928> loves<00:00:56.810> movies,<00:00:57.244> TV,<00:00:57.870> games,<00:00:58.656> anime.

00:00:59.153 --> 00:01:03.373
And<00:00:59.250> so<00:00:59.554> there's<00:00:59.699> again<00:00:59.875> 200,000<00:01:00.918> wikis<00:01:01.303> that<00:01:01.480> just<00:01:01.705> cover<00:01:02.122> basically<00:01:02.443> the<00:01:02.587> imagined<00:01:03.069> worlds.

00:01:03.486 --> 00:01:13.162
And,<00:01:04.352> um,<00:01:04.850> we<00:01:04.930> have<00:01:05.251> 45<00:01:05.893> million<00:01:06.133> pages<00:01:06.454> of<00:01:06.519> content,<00:01:07.176> and<00:01:07.353> about<00:01:07.979> 300<00:01:08.444> million<00:01:08.701> people<00:01:09.006> come<00:01:09.246> through<00:01:09.407> every<00:01:09.583> month<00:01:10.209> just<00:01:10.402> to<00:01:10.530> kind<00:01:10.691> of<00:01:10.771> consume<00:01:11.349> all<00:01:11.429> this<00:01:11.589> information<00:01:12.135> about<00:01:12.327> these<00:01:12.536> imagined<00:01:12.857> worlds.

00:01:13.900 --> 00:01:15.777
And<00:01:14.157> I<00:01:14.301> joined<00:01:14.494> about<00:01:14.718> 5<00:01:15.023> and<00:01:15.071> a<00:01:15.087> half<00:01:15.280> years<00:01:15.521> ago.

00:01:16.307 --> 00:01:27.966
Um,<00:01:16.820> the<00:01:17.286> investment<00:01:17.687> firm<00:01:17.992> TPG,<00:01:18.955> uh,<00:01:19.115> had<00:01:19.276> purchased,<00:01:20.479> um,<00:01:21.362> Fandom,<00:01:22.164> and<00:01:22.886> We<00:01:22.966> then<00:01:23.078> acquired<00:01:23.944> a<00:01:24.024> platform<00:01:24.505> called<00:01:24.745> Gamepedia,<00:01:25.386> which<00:01:25.883> sort<00:01:26.091> of<00:01:26.187> looked<00:01:26.428> a<00:01:26.508> lot<00:01:26.732> like<00:01:26.909> these<00:01:27.021> same<00:01:27.229> wiki<00:01:27.470> platforms.

00:01:28.047 --> 00:01:31.460
It<00:01:28.095> just<00:01:28.271> was<00:01:28.511> more<00:01:28.752> dedicated<00:01:29.233> to<00:01:29.313> gamers<00:01:29.794> and<00:01:30.595> we<00:01:30.675> brought<00:01:30.915> them<00:01:31.076> together.

00:01:31.557 --> 00:01:39.682
We<00:01:31.701> also<00:01:31.797> had<00:01:31.973> this<00:01:32.278> business<00:01:32.743> called<00:01:33.143> Dungeons<00:01:33.560> and<00:01:33.624> Dragons<00:01:34.041> Beyond,<00:01:34.522> which<00:01:34.762> was<00:01:34.922> a<00:01:35.179> toolset<00:01:35.740> for<00:01:35.964> D&D<00:01:36.429> players,<00:01:37.631> uh,<00:01:37.807> which<00:01:37.967> we've<00:01:38.689> built<00:01:38.993> up<00:01:39.169> over<00:01:39.330> time.

00:01:39.746 --> 00:01:42.038
And<00:01:40.035> we<00:01:40.195> actually<00:01:40.404> sold<00:01:40.612> that<00:01:40.756> to<00:01:40.836> Hasbro<00:01:41.237> a<00:01:41.253> couple<00:01:41.493> of<00:01:41.557> years<00:01:41.750> ago.

00:01:42.856 --> 00:01:46.750
And<00:01:43.000> then<00:01:43.240> we've<00:01:43.417> since<00:01:43.753> acquired<00:01:44.122> other<00:01:44.298> businesses<00:01:44.923> that<00:01:45.099> basically<00:01:45.676> super<00:01:46.061> serve<00:01:46.446> fans.

00:01:46.878 --> 00:01:53.612
So<00:01:47.744> we<00:01:47.808> have<00:01:47.856> this<00:01:48.048> wiki<00:01:48.289> platform<00:01:48.866> that<00:01:48.930> about<00:01:49.170> 300<00:01:49.507> million<00:01:49.827> people<00:01:50.308> a<00:01:50.388> month<00:01:50.709> come<00:01:51.013> to,<00:01:51.270> and<00:01:51.350> then<00:01:51.510> we've<00:01:51.687> got<00:01:52.200> an<00:01:52.328> e-commerce<00:01:52.954> platform.

00:01:53.676 --> 00:01:57.529
We<00:01:53.757> have<00:01:53.917> almost<00:01:54.158> a<00:01:54.222> million<00:01:54.479> people<00:01:54.800> buying<00:01:55.201> video<00:01:55.442> games,<00:01:56.405> and<00:01:56.485> that's<00:01:56.662> called<00:01:56.887> Fanatical.

00:01:58.010 --> 00:02:01.686
And<00:01:58.091> then<00:01:58.267> we've<00:01:58.508> acquired<00:01:58.957> some<00:01:59.214> media<00:01:59.535> brands<00:02:00.001> to<00:02:00.161> help<00:02:00.258> people<00:02:00.563> on<00:02:00.723> their<00:02:01.044> fan<00:02:01.365> journey.

00:02:09.552 --> 00:02:15.395
So<00:02:09.648> in<00:02:09.793> aggregate,<00:02:10.194> there<00:02:10.258> are<00:02:10.290> about<00:02:10.451> 350<00:02:10.932> million<00:02:11.173> folks<00:02:11.494> come<00:02:11.655> through<00:02:11.815> every<00:02:11.976> month<00:02:12.377> to<00:02:12.762> kind<00:02:12.875> of<00:02:13.019> nerd<00:02:13.324> out<00:02:13.822> about<00:02:14.368> all<00:02:14.448> these<00:02:14.624> fantasy<00:02:15.026> worlds.

00:02:16.053 --> 00:02:19.440
And<00:02:16.246> so<00:02:16.551> that's<00:02:16.872> the,<00:02:17.337> that's<00:02:17.466> sort<00:02:17.562> of<00:02:17.594> the<00:02:17.658> history<00:02:18.060> of<00:02:18.156> it<00:02:18.252> and<00:02:18.381> kind<00:02:18.541> of<00:02:18.621> where<00:02:18.798> we<00:02:18.878> stand<00:02:19.199> today.

00:02:19.585 --> 00:02:20.612
And<00:02:20.082> in<00:02:20.147> our<00:02:20.243> business.

00:02:21.689 --> 00:02:23.038
What<00:02:21.913> made<00:02:22.090> it<00:02:22.186> interesting<00:02:22.652> to<00:02:22.813> you?

00:02:24.323 --> 00:02:33.061
Well,<00:02:24.403> I<00:02:24.580> was,<00:02:24.965> uh,<00:02:25.447> I<00:02:25.463> was<00:02:25.608> helping<00:02:25.785> to<00:02:25.865> run<00:02:26.106> an<00:02:26.347> e-commerce<00:02:26.909> platform<00:02:27.375> called<00:02:27.535> StubHub<00:02:28.130> at<00:02:28.258> the<00:02:28.435> time,<00:02:29.077> and,<00:02:30.025> uh,<00:02:31.069> eBay<00:02:31.166> was<00:02:31.390> on<00:02:31.551> the<00:02:31.631> way<00:02:31.808> to<00:02:32.226> selling<00:02:32.547> that<00:02:32.691> business.

00:02:33.398 --> 00:02:38.843
Um,<00:02:34.362> and<00:02:35.165> I<00:02:35.727> was<00:02:35.968> really<00:02:36.225> interested<00:02:36.691> in<00:02:36.787> these<00:02:37.751> vertical<00:02:38.233> communities.

00:02:39.261 --> 00:02:44.899
Um,<00:02:39.679> I'd<00:02:39.791> spent<00:02:40.000> a<00:02:40.064> fair<00:02:40.177> amount<00:02:40.386> of<00:02:40.466> time<00:02:40.723> in<00:02:40.948> different<00:02:41.205> businesses,<00:02:41.751> so,<00:02:42.024> uh,<00:02:42.715> a<00:02:42.972> lot<00:02:43.213> in<00:02:43.277> sports<00:02:43.855> and<00:02:44.096> entertainment.

00:02:45.124 --> 00:02:47.594
Um,<00:02:45.606> and<00:02:45.862> just<00:02:46.087> had<00:02:46.247> done<00:02:46.424> a<00:02:46.664> stint<00:02:47.049> in<00:02:47.145> ticketing.

00:02:48.652 --> 00:03:01.449
And<00:02:48.813> I<00:02:48.909> was,<00:02:49.294> you<00:02:49.326> know,<00:02:49.390> in<00:02:49.470> the<00:02:49.550> face<00:02:49.935> of<00:02:50.112> all<00:02:50.352> the<00:02:50.849> scaled<00:02:51.571> conglomerates<00:02:52.677> from<00:02:53.142> Google<00:02:53.623> to<00:02:53.864> Amazon<00:02:54.441> to<00:02:54.585> Facebook,<00:02:55.227> I<00:02:55.403> was<00:02:56.446> kind<00:02:56.622> of<00:02:56.670> more<00:02:56.766> and<00:02:56.862> more<00:02:57.071> convinced<00:02:57.568> that<00:02:57.809> there<00:02:57.969> were<00:02:58.290> some<00:02:58.514> underserved<00:02:59.075> communities<00:02:59.717> out<00:02:59.877> there,<00:03:00.053> and<00:03:00.198> I<00:03:00.230> was<00:03:00.374> really<00:03:00.615> curious<00:03:01.080> about<00:03:01.400> them.

00:03:01.497 --> 00:03:08.937
And<00:03:01.593> I<00:03:01.641> actually<00:03:01.898> had<00:03:02.058> built<00:03:02.298> a<00:03:02.443> deck,<00:03:03.485> and<00:03:04.062> I<00:03:04.142> got<00:03:04.287> a<00:03:04.367> call<00:03:05.024> about<00:03:05.361> Fandom,<00:03:05.842> and<00:03:05.922> I<00:03:05.954> was<00:03:06.131> like,<00:03:06.307> hey,<00:03:07.574> I<00:03:07.590> have<00:03:07.670> this<00:03:07.831> exact<00:03:08.312> same<00:03:08.552> model.

00:03:09.578 --> 00:03:16.826
And<00:03:10.011> so<00:03:10.172> it's<00:03:10.380> actually<00:03:10.637> worked<00:03:10.941> out<00:03:11.022> really<00:03:11.278> well<00:03:11.519> because<00:03:11.839> when<00:03:11.984> we<00:03:12.304> first<00:03:12.497> had<00:03:12.625> our<00:03:12.721> conversation,<00:03:13.283> I<00:03:13.347> actually<00:03:13.988> already<00:03:14.245> built<00:03:14.501> a<00:03:14.646> thesis<00:03:15.046> around<00:03:15.367> it,<00:03:15.447> and<00:03:15.528> it<00:03:15.576> was<00:03:15.672> like,<00:03:15.848> hey,<00:03:15.993> that<00:03:16.089> matches<00:03:16.409> our<00:03:16.634> thesis.

00:03:16.907 --> 00:03:28.075
So<00:03:17.807> Anyway,<00:03:19.013> I<00:03:19.094> do<00:03:19.270> believe<00:03:19.657> that<00:03:20.075> these<00:03:20.396> vertical<00:03:20.879> communities<00:03:22.230> in<00:03:22.310> the<00:03:22.407> face<00:03:22.809> of<00:03:22.954> a<00:03:22.970> lot<00:03:23.275> of<00:03:23.935> large-scale<00:03:25.382> platforms<00:03:26.412> are<00:03:26.492> really<00:03:26.669> meaningful<00:03:27.136> in<00:03:27.233> terms<00:03:27.476> of<00:03:27.557> engagement.

00:03:28.124 --> 00:03:30.894
And<00:03:28.205> so,<00:03:28.918> it<00:03:28.999> was<00:03:29.161> just<00:03:29.323> a<00:03:29.420> perfect<00:03:29.744> fit<00:03:29.922> for<00:03:30.068> what<00:03:30.165> I<00:03:30.197> was<00:03:30.262> looking<00:03:30.554> to<00:03:30.635> do.

00:03:33.000 --> 00:03:34.926
What<00:03:33.217> do<00:03:33.435> you<00:03:33.686> make<00:03:34.038> a<00:03:34.105> great<00:03:34.540> community?

00:03:36.652 --> 00:03:40.440
Well,<00:03:36.896> I<00:03:36.993> think<00:03:37.302> number<00:03:37.546> one,<00:03:38.262> you<00:03:38.684> have<00:03:38.928> to<00:03:39.010> have<00:03:39.595> something<00:03:39.839> you<00:03:39.969> care<00:03:40.148> about.

00:03:40.879 --> 00:03:43.448
So,<00:03:41.513> I<00:03:41.546> mean,<00:03:41.757> I<00:03:41.774> think<00:03:42.001> there's<00:03:42.180> this<00:03:42.652> shared<00:03:43.058> values.

00:03:44.133 --> 00:03:50.998
And<00:03:44.278> so,<00:03:46.309> those<00:03:46.550> shared<00:03:46.873> values<00:03:47.437> in<00:03:47.582> the<00:03:47.839> worlds<00:03:48.146> that<00:03:48.307> we<00:03:48.484> live<00:03:48.726> in<00:03:48.887> are<00:03:48.967> around<00:03:49.612> this<00:03:50.192> intellectual<00:03:50.563> property.

00:03:51.062 --> 00:03:52.917
So,<00:03:51.288> it's<00:03:51.465> a<00:03:52.190> shared<00:03:52.432> value.

00:03:53.063 --> 00:04:00.096
I<00:03:53.160> like<00:03:54.212> role-playing<00:03:54.616> games<00:03:55.021> and<00:03:55.102> fantasy,<00:03:55.911> or<00:03:55.943> it's<00:03:56.089> a<00:03:56.154> shared<00:03:56.477> value<00:03:56.882> that<00:03:57.044> I<00:03:57.189> love<00:03:57.367> horror,<00:03:58.376> or<00:03:58.778> I<00:03:58.874> am<00:03:58.971> a<00:03:59.035> huge<00:03:59.501> anime<00:03:59.774> fan.

00:04:00.160 --> 00:04:10.525
And<00:04:00.240> so,<00:04:01.269> in<00:04:01.365> the<00:04:02.008> archetypes<00:04:02.490> that<00:04:02.650> get<00:04:03.116> kicked<00:04:03.438> out<00:04:03.615> of<00:04:03.759> these<00:04:04.016> worlds,<00:04:04.579> there's—<00:04:04.900> it<00:04:05.045> represents<00:04:05.623> the<00:04:05.784> identity<00:04:06.346> of<00:04:06.507> the<00:04:06.651> community<00:04:07.214> and<00:04:07.375> those<00:04:07.600> values<00:04:08.123> that<00:04:08.449> the<00:04:09.103> community<00:04:09.757> have<00:04:10.084> and<00:04:10.166> share.

00:04:10.738 --> 00:04:16.530
And<00:04:10.901> so,<00:04:11.212> they<00:04:11.310> can<00:04:11.473> come<00:04:11.718> together<00:04:12.274> and<00:04:12.872> connect<00:04:14.172> around<00:04:14.637> this<00:04:14.878> shared<00:04:15.198> value<00:04:15.680> and<00:04:15.776> their<00:04:15.920> identity.

00:04:17.188 --> 00:04:22.867
And<00:04:17.284> then,<00:04:17.846> I<00:04:17.926> think<00:04:18.070> the<00:04:18.150> second<00:04:18.487> thing<00:04:18.632> that's<00:04:18.808> most<00:04:19.049> important<00:04:19.594> is<00:04:19.771> that<00:04:20.573> they<00:04:20.621> have<00:04:20.798> a<00:04:20.814> way<00:04:20.910> to<00:04:21.054> voice<00:04:21.295> it<00:04:22.001> and<00:04:22.241> they<00:04:22.322> have<00:04:22.418> a<00:04:22.434> way<00:04:22.562> to<00:04:22.642> share<00:04:22.835> it.

00:04:22.915 --> 00:04:34.081
In<00:04:22.995> our<00:04:23.140> case,<00:04:23.461> we<00:04:23.557> have<00:04:24.102> a<00:04:24.824> couple<00:04:25.065> hundred<00:04:25.322> thousand<00:04:25.707> folks<00:04:26.012> who<00:04:26.108> are<00:04:26.188> creating<00:04:26.589> content<00:04:27.231> and<00:04:27.295> then<00:04:27.455> we<00:04:27.536> have<00:04:27.712> people<00:04:28.097> who<00:04:28.418> come<00:04:28.675> to<00:04:28.899> it<00:04:30.295> in<00:04:30.423> order<00:04:30.744> to<00:04:30.905> connect<00:04:31.707> and<00:04:31.867> feel<00:04:32.284> that<00:04:32.525> they<00:04:33.167> can<00:04:33.327> get<00:04:33.488> the<00:04:33.584> information.

00:04:34.434 --> 00:04:55.250
In<00:04:34.771> our<00:04:35.092> case,<00:04:36.054> we<00:04:36.119> have<00:04:36.215> the<00:04:36.375> canon,<00:04:37.194> if<00:04:37.418> you<00:04:37.579> know<00:04:37.739> that<00:04:37.964> word,<00:04:38.220> and<00:04:39.560> serves,<00:04:40.110> you<00:04:40.111> know,<00:04:40.350> if<00:04:40.351> you<00:04:40.490> want<00:04:40.610> to<00:04:40.750> know<00:04:40.830> what<00:04:40.850> is<00:04:41.110> canon<00:04:41.390> for<00:04:41.590> Lord<00:04:41.830> of<00:04:41.970> the<00:04:42.130> Rings,<00:04:42.390> they'll<00:04:42.590> come<00:04:42.770> to<00:04:42.990> fandom<00:04:43.210> or<00:04:43.410> you<00:04:43.510> want<00:04:43.630> to<00:04:43.710> know<00:04:43.870> what's<00:04:43.890> canon<00:04:44.310> for<00:04:44.810> Star<00:04:45.630> Wars,<00:04:45.790> they'll<00:04:46.030> come<00:04:46.190> to<00:04:46.330> our<00:04:46.630> Wookieepedia<00:04:47.270> section<00:04:47.950> where<00:04:48.210> there's<00:04:48.870> 170,000<00:04:50.490> pages<00:04:50.830> of<00:04:51.050> content<00:04:51.590> about<00:04:52.030> everything<00:04:52.820> you've<00:04:53.470> always<00:04:53.850> wanted<00:04:54.110> to<00:04:54.330> know<00:04:54.450> about<00:04:54.650> Star<00:04:54.990> Wars.

00:04:55.250 --> 00:05:03.090
And<00:04:55.290> so,<00:04:56.230> you<00:04:56.430> know,<00:04:56.770> so<00:04:57.230> it's<00:04:57.290> got<00:04:57.390> to<00:04:57.490> be<00:04:57.590> a<00:04:57.650> platform<00:04:57.950> that<00:04:58.170> serves<00:04:58.670> the<00:04:59.210> community<00:04:59.610> and<00:04:59.930> sort<00:05:00.170> of<00:05:00.250> is<00:05:00.470> authentic<00:05:01.030> and<00:05:01.270> connects<00:05:01.630> to<00:05:01.870> them<00:05:02.290> the<00:05:02.510> things<00:05:02.670> they<00:05:02.850> want.

00:05:03.090 --> 00:05:05.560
So<00:05:03.190> those<00:05:03.790> two<00:05:04.270> things<00:05:04.450> are<00:05:04.610> probably<00:05:04.790> the<00:05:04.870> most<00:05:05.110> important.

00:05:06.370 --> 00:05:07.850
You've<00:05:06.590> got<00:05:06.610> to<00:05:06.730> have<00:05:06.850> the<00:05:07.050> shared<00:05:07.350> values.

00:05:07.870 --> 00:05:22.770
You<00:05:07.930> got<00:05:08.010> to<00:05:08.110> have<00:05:08.210> a<00:05:08.350> platform<00:05:08.650> that<00:05:08.670> works<00:05:08.690> for<00:05:08.710> folks<00:05:08.730> and<00:05:10.280> And<00:05:10.730> then<00:05:10.910> you<00:05:11.030> have<00:05:11.170> to,<00:05:11.470> of<00:05:11.471> course,<00:05:11.590> in<00:05:11.670> our<00:05:11.890> case,<00:05:12.190> maintain<00:05:12.790> the<00:05:14.330> sort<00:05:14.690> of<00:05:15.670> standards<00:05:15.671> so<00:05:15.950> that<00:05:16.050> folks<00:05:16.350> feel<00:05:17.110> like<00:05:17.330> they're<00:05:17.450> safe<00:05:17.710> and<00:05:17.870> feel<00:05:18.070> like<00:05:18.190> they've<00:05:18.330> got<00:05:18.410> a<00:05:18.530> way<00:05:18.590> to<00:05:18.670> connect<00:05:19.030> without<00:05:19.390> getting<00:05:19.910> trolled<00:05:20.410> or<00:05:20.550> otherwise<00:05:21.110> folks<00:05:22.050> behaving<00:05:22.350> badly.

00:05:22.770 --> 00:05:23.870
So<00:05:22.930> we<00:05:22.970> do<00:05:23.130> that<00:05:23.310> as<00:05:23.610> well.

00:05:23.870 --> 00:05:27.230
So<00:05:23.910> those<00:05:24.090> are<00:05:24.270> the<00:05:24.290> things<00:05:24.410> that<00:05:24.570> are<00:05:24.690> pretty<00:05:24.830> important<00:05:25.150> for<00:05:25.310> communities<00:05:25.730> to<00:05:26.150> govern<00:05:26.450> themselves.

00:05:27.230 --> 00:05:32.750
But<00:05:27.750> generally<00:05:28.070> speaking,<00:05:28.390> in<00:05:28.510> our<00:05:28.750> case,<00:05:28.930> it's<00:05:29.310> really<00:05:29.510> about<00:05:29.690> those<00:05:29.910> values,<00:05:30.270> identity,<00:05:30.810> and<00:05:30.990> the<00:05:31.090> content<00:05:31.490> that<00:05:31.690> really<00:05:31.930> makes<00:05:32.130> a<00:05:32.250> difference.

00:05:33.710 --> 00:05:40.190
And<00:05:33.790> do<00:05:33.910> you<00:05:33.911> have<00:05:34.130> the<00:05:34.250> sense<00:05:34.430> for<00:05:34.750> like,<00:05:35.200> hey,<00:05:35.210> once<00:05:35.450> you<00:05:35.570> have<00:05:35.890> that,<00:05:36.270> then<00:05:36.450> you<00:05:36.590> gotta<00:05:36.750> figure<00:05:36.990> out<00:05:37.150> a<00:05:37.370> way<00:05:37.390> for<00:05:37.630> them<00:05:37.950> to<00:05:38.370> do<00:05:38.690> commerce<00:05:39.290> with<00:05:39.530> each<00:05:39.770> other<00:05:39.910> like<00:05:40.150> you've<00:05:40.170> done?

00:05:42.467 --> 00:05:51.995
How<00:05:42.564> do<00:05:42.708> you<00:05:43.046> intensify<00:05:43.849> that,<00:05:44.315> or<00:05:44.411> maybe<00:05:44.652> that's<00:05:44.829> not<00:05:44.974> the<00:05:45.054> right<00:05:45.279> word,<00:05:45.520> how<00:05:45.616> do<00:05:45.680> you<00:05:47.367> strengthen<00:05:48.669> that<00:05:48.974> community<00:05:49.777> and<00:05:49.874> the<00:05:50.034> relationships<00:05:50.838> of<00:05:50.918> those<00:05:51.143> who<00:05:51.320> are<00:05:51.400> inside<00:05:51.802> of<00:05:51.882> it?

00:05:53.493 --> 00:05:54.797
Yeah,<00:05:53.734> it<00:05:54.056> really<00:05:54.314> depends.

00:05:54.845 --> 00:05:56.117
I<00:05:54.861> mean,<00:05:55.328> that's<00:05:55.892> the<00:05:55.973> thing.

00:05:56.536 --> 00:06:04.794
It's<00:05:56.633> one<00:05:56.778> of<00:05:56.810> those<00:05:57.422> cases<00:05:57.841> where<00:05:58.002> it's<00:05:58.227> like<00:05:58.485> when<00:05:58.630> you<00:05:58.823> talk<00:05:59.048> to<00:05:59.129> someone<00:05:59.386> about<00:05:59.934> they<00:06:00.079> want<00:06:00.240> to<00:06:00.320> go<00:06:00.498> global<00:06:00.884> with<00:06:01.045> their<00:06:01.110> business,<00:06:01.611> and<00:06:02.176> when<00:06:02.257> you<00:06:02.354> hear<00:06:02.580> that,<00:06:02.984> for<00:06:03.049> me,<00:06:03.162> it's<00:06:03.259> always<00:06:03.485> a<00:06:03.550> trigger,<00:06:03.889> which<00:06:04.051> is<00:06:04.164> like,<00:06:04.358> oh,<00:06:04.439> guess<00:06:04.617> what?

00:06:04.843 --> 00:06:07.025
There's<00:06:05.005> about<00:06:05.263> 210<00:06:06.071> countries<00:06:06.459> you<00:06:06.492> got<00:06:06.621> to<00:06:06.702> figure<00:06:06.944> out.

00:06:08.492 --> 00:06:10.932
The<00:06:08.700> same<00:06:08.893> thing<00:06:09.118> holds<00:06:09.423> true<00:06:09.600> with<00:06:09.985> our<00:06:10.081> case<00:06:10.322> in<00:06:10.402> communities.

00:06:12.008 --> 00:06:22.654
A<00:06:12.072> fan<00:06:12.393> of<00:06:13.212> Japanese<00:06:13.678> anime<00:06:13.999> has<00:06:14.240> very<00:06:14.497> different<00:06:14.962> needs<00:06:15.926> than<00:06:16.102> someone<00:06:16.391> who's<00:06:16.504> playing<00:06:16.889> an<00:06:17.387> RPG<00:06:17.772> game<00:06:18.045> or<00:06:18.672> different<00:06:18.864> needs<00:06:19.057> than<00:06:19.105> someone<00:06:19.362> who's<00:06:19.474> just<00:06:19.619> trying<00:06:19.779> to<00:06:20.020> figure<00:06:20.261> out<00:06:21.080> what<00:06:21.241> the<00:06:21.321> chronology<00:06:21.963> of<00:06:22.124> The<00:06:22.204> Witcher<00:06:22.525> is.

00:06:23.649 --> 00:06:26.571
And<00:06:23.729> so,<00:06:24.468> in<00:06:24.773> some<00:06:24.998> cases,<00:06:25.271> we<00:06:25.415> build<00:06:25.640> things<00:06:25.801> that<00:06:25.865> are<00:06:25.961> very<00:06:26.138> bespoke.

00:06:26.620 --> 00:06:40.353
So<00:06:26.764> we've<00:06:26.925> got,<00:06:27.246> for<00:06:27.390> example,<00:06:27.904> maps<00:06:28.546> in<00:06:28.611> our<00:06:28.787> gaming<00:06:29.895> wikis<00:06:30.473> so<00:06:30.794> that<00:06:31.019> as<00:06:31.115> you're<00:06:31.276> playing<00:06:31.533> a<00:06:31.597> video<00:06:31.918> game,<00:06:32.962> if<00:06:33.589> you've<00:06:33.830> ever<00:06:34.006> played<00:06:34.183> some<00:06:34.392> of<00:06:34.424> these<00:06:35.035> role-playing<00:06:35.388> or<00:06:35.452> fantasy<00:06:35.838> games,<00:06:36.079> you<00:06:36.159> can<00:06:36.256> get<00:06:36.497> sort<00:06:36.641> of<00:06:36.802> into<00:06:36.915> these<00:06:37.525> worlds<00:06:38.007> and<00:06:38.907> there's<00:06:39.148> a<00:06:39.228> lot<00:06:39.485> of<00:06:39.614> places<00:06:39.935> you<00:06:40.032> can<00:06:40.192> go.

00:06:40.433 --> 00:06:44.306
There's<00:06:40.674> tunnels,<00:06:41.156> there's<00:06:41.863> caves,<00:06:42.361> there's<00:06:42.827> roads<00:06:43.165> that<00:06:43.245> go<00:06:43.390> places.

00:06:44.514 --> 00:06:46.153
It's<00:06:44.772> hard<00:06:44.916> to<00:06:44.948> sometimes<00:06:45.334> keep<00:06:45.495> track<00:06:45.736> of<00:06:45.800> where<00:06:45.896> you<00:06:46.121> are.

00:06:46.314 --> 00:06:55.810
So,<00:06:46.443> we<00:06:46.539> built<00:06:46.764> this<00:06:46.925> mapping<00:06:47.326> tool<00:06:48.146> that<00:06:48.290> says,<00:06:48.403> okay,<00:06:48.644> here's<00:06:48.885> how<00:06:49.094> you<00:06:49.126> can<00:06:49.270> keep<00:06:49.415> track<00:06:49.736> of<00:06:49.817> where<00:06:49.994> you<00:06:50.218> are<00:06:50.395> so<00:06:50.556> that<00:06:50.700> you<00:06:50.813> know<00:06:51.665> you're<00:06:52.066> making<00:06:52.243> your<00:06:52.468> way<00:06:52.645> towards<00:06:53.432> the<00:06:53.528> doom,<00:06:53.994> whatever<00:06:54.396> you're<00:06:54.557> trying<00:06:54.749> to<00:06:54.814> get<00:06:55.039> to,<00:06:55.135> the<00:06:55.215> destination.

00:06:56.565 --> 00:07:03.692
In<00:06:56.726> other<00:06:56.903> cases,<00:06:58.445> we<00:06:58.590> build<00:06:59.296> bundles<00:06:59.794> of<00:06:59.938> video<00:07:00.259> games<00:07:00.596> for<00:07:00.676> people<00:07:00.981> to<00:07:01.077> play<00:07:01.959> because<00:07:02.441> they<00:07:02.681> want<00:07:03.002> that<00:07:03.403> ease.

00:07:04.382 --> 00:07:06.066
So<00:07:04.670> like,<00:07:04.831> "Hey,<00:07:05.505> surprise<00:07:06.034> me.

00:07:06.130 --> 00:07:16.590
We<00:07:06.211> actually<00:07:07.029> have<00:07:07.334> this<00:07:07.558> bundle<00:07:07.879> of<00:07:07.975> video<00:07:08.296> games<00:07:08.697> called<00:07:08.842> a<00:07:08.858> mystery<00:07:09.243> bundle<00:07:09.580> and<00:07:10.221> you<00:07:10.253> just<00:07:10.382> buy<00:07:10.703> it<00:07:10.783> for<00:07:11.665> $10<00:07:12.146> and<00:07:12.291> you<00:07:12.371> get<00:07:12.451> a<00:07:12.467> whole<00:07:12.580> bunch<00:07:12.724> of<00:07:12.788> video<00:07:13.029> games<00:07:13.350> to<00:07:13.430> play."<00:07:13.606> So<00:07:13.847> there's<00:07:14.055> a<00:07:14.088> bit<00:07:14.232> of<00:07:14.264> that<00:07:14.457> delight<00:07:14.874> there<00:07:15.114> that<00:07:15.259> I<00:07:15.275> think<00:07:15.451> is<00:07:15.660> also<00:07:15.916> part<00:07:16.093> of<00:07:16.157> the<00:07:16.237> service.

00:07:17.360 --> 00:07:23.858
So<00:07:17.521> between<00:07:17.986> the—<00:07:18.868> everything's<00:07:19.205> got<00:07:19.606> to<00:07:19.831> essentially<00:07:20.104> be<00:07:20.392> relevant<00:07:20.809> and<00:07:20.954> authentic<00:07:21.451> to<00:07:21.531> what<00:07:21.756> that<00:07:22.398> fan<00:07:22.831> or<00:07:22.895> that<00:07:23.120> user<00:07:23.456> needs.

00:07:24.339 --> 00:07:28.046
I<00:07:24.355> mean,<00:07:24.499> Metacritic,<00:07:25.478> It's<00:07:26.008> all<00:07:26.088> about,<00:07:27.308> do<00:07:27.453> I<00:07:27.549> buy<00:07:27.709> this<00:07:27.870> game?

00:07:28.095 --> 00:07:28.480
Is<00:07:28.191> it<00:07:28.271> good?

00:07:28.897 --> 00:07:29.893
Or<00:07:29.138> do<00:07:29.218> I<00:07:29.379> watch<00:07:29.572> this<00:07:29.780> movie?

00:07:29.941 --> 00:07:30.487
Is<00:07:30.053> it<00:07:30.182> good?

00:07:30.663 --> 00:07:40.071
And<00:07:30.711> so<00:07:30.856> we<00:07:31.065> aggregate<00:07:31.546> all<00:07:31.642> these<00:07:32.830> rankings<00:07:33.312> and<00:07:33.408> ratings<00:07:33.810> from<00:07:34.034> both<00:07:35.415> folks<00:07:35.640> who<00:07:35.736> are<00:07:35.881> professional<00:07:36.282> reviewers<00:07:36.715> as<00:07:36.860> well<00:07:37.020> as<00:07:37.101> fans<00:07:37.534> to<00:07:37.663> give<00:07:37.887> you<00:07:37.984> that<00:07:38.546> picture<00:07:38.963> so<00:07:39.107> that<00:07:39.252> you<00:07:39.348> can<00:07:39.428> make<00:07:39.605> a<00:07:39.669> decision.

00:07:40.167 --> 00:07:46.717
So<00:07:41.259> our<00:07:41.917> goal<00:07:42.158> really<00:07:42.318> is<00:07:42.463> utility,<00:07:43.667> and<00:07:44.164> we<00:07:44.245> have<00:07:44.469> to<00:07:44.550> kind<00:07:44.662> of<00:07:44.726> be<00:07:44.887> fairly<00:07:45.994> discreet<00:07:46.476> though.

00:07:46.813 --> 00:07:51.982
And<00:07:46.877> it's<00:07:47.054> what<00:07:47.439> makes<00:07:47.680> it<00:07:47.776> difficult<00:07:48.242> when<00:07:48.306> you've<00:07:48.386> got<00:07:48.499> a<00:07:48.563> very<00:07:48.740> large<00:07:49.045> platform<00:07:50.184> and<00:07:50.265> you've<00:07:50.345> got<00:07:50.473> a<00:07:50.505> very<00:07:50.987> broad<00:07:51.324> set<00:07:51.549> of<00:07:51.629> needs.

00:07:52.416 --> 00:07:59.231
How<00:07:52.513> do<00:07:52.561> you<00:07:52.658> prioritize<00:07:53.222> the<00:07:53.318> work<00:07:53.576> so<00:07:53.705> you<00:07:53.802> get<00:07:54.027> the<00:07:55.638> authentic<00:07:56.701> connection<00:07:57.185> to<00:07:57.362> the<00:07:57.491> fan,<00:07:58.071> but<00:07:58.232> you're<00:07:58.329> able<00:07:58.474> to<00:07:58.554> do<00:07:58.731> it<00:07:58.860> at<00:07:58.941> scale?

00:07:59.295 --> 00:08:01.019
So<00:07:59.505> it's<00:07:59.923> been<00:08:00.020> a<00:08:00.149> pretty<00:08:00.326> tricky<00:08:00.648> project.

00:08:03.198 --> 00:08:04.391
Yeah,<00:08:03.601> it's<00:08:03.939> fascinating.

00:08:04.439 --> 00:08:19.037
So<00:08:04.923> yeah,<00:08:05.214> as<00:08:05.310> somebody<00:08:05.697> who<00:08:06.117> builds<00:08:06.439> communities,<00:08:06.923> not,<00:08:07.165> not<00:08:07.326> where<00:08:07.488> near<00:08:08.358> the<00:08:08.439> scale<00:08:08.939> that<00:08:09.100> you<00:08:09.245> have,<00:08:09.520> I'm<00:08:09.745> always<00:08:10.068> fascinated<00:08:10.616> with,<00:08:11.746> in<00:08:11.842> particular,<00:08:12.472> online<00:08:12.891> communities<00:08:13.681> and<00:08:13.762> how<00:08:13.891> do<00:08:14.004> you<00:08:14.649> strengthen<00:08:15.133> those<00:08:15.375> relationships<00:08:16.827> and<00:08:17.166> keep<00:08:17.472> them<00:08:17.650> active<00:08:18.134> and<00:08:18.215> all<00:08:18.360> of<00:08:18.440> that<00:08:18.618> type<00:08:18.795> of<00:08:18.860> stuff.

00:08:19.102 --> 00:08:20.199
What<00:08:19.263> is<00:08:19.408> your<00:08:19.586> revenue<00:08:19.989> model?

00:08:21.178 --> 00:08:22.333
We<00:08:21.354> do<00:08:21.755> this<00:08:21.980> one<00:08:22.221> here.

00:08:22.397 --> 00:08:23.505
We've,<00:08:22.638> we've<00:08:22.799> done<00:08:23.023> different<00:08:23.280> ones.

00:08:23.585 --> 00:08:33.231
We<00:08:23.665> had<00:08:24.082> a<00:08:24.227> business<00:08:24.628> that<00:08:24.724> was<00:08:24.949> direct-to-consumer<00:08:25.992> around<00:08:26.731> the<00:08:26.971> Dungeons<00:08:27.357> Dragons<00:08:27.854> IP,<00:08:28.239> and<00:08:28.320> that<00:08:28.496> one<00:08:28.657> was<00:08:29.555> a<00:08:29.941> subscription<00:08:30.502> model,<00:08:31.289> um,<00:08:32.091> and<00:08:32.171> had<00:08:32.284> e-commerce<00:08:32.894> to<00:08:33.054> it.

00:08:34.097 --> 00:08:37.564
Um,<00:08:34.434> but<00:08:34.579> we're<00:08:34.659> about<00:08:34.916> 80/20<00:08:35.462> advertising,<00:08:36.184> 20%<00:08:37.002> e-commerce.

00:08:37.885 --> 00:08:46.167
So<00:08:38.286> the<00:08:38.752> core<00:08:38.993> wikis<00:08:39.570> and<00:08:39.731> those<00:08:40.052> media<00:08:40.293> businesses<00:08:40.854> I<00:08:40.935> told<00:08:41.175> you<00:08:41.239> about,<00:08:41.753> about<00:08:42.202> 80%<00:08:42.395> of<00:08:42.539> our<00:08:42.700> revenue,<00:08:43.005> about<00:08:43.181> 20%<00:08:44.465> comes<00:08:44.658> from<00:08:44.786> e-commerce,<00:08:45.300> from<00:08:45.412> selling<00:08:45.653> video<00:08:45.910> games.

00:08:47.515 --> 00:08:49.538
Would<00:08:47.676> your<00:08:48.142> main<00:08:48.302> competitor<00:08:48.800> be<00:08:48.944> like<00:08:49.201> Reddit?

00:08:50.309 --> 00:08:51.048
Yeah,<00:08:50.630> I<00:08:50.662> think<00:08:50.887> so.

00:08:51.128 --> 00:08:58.466
So<00:08:51.305> between—<00:08:52.252> kind<00:08:52.413> of<00:08:52.493> think<00:08:52.653> about<00:08:52.894> Reddit,<00:08:53.376> you<00:08:53.440> think<00:08:53.553> about<00:08:53.842> IMDb,<00:08:54.966> um,<00:08:55.447> think<00:08:55.560> about<00:08:55.784> Twitch,<00:08:56.732> you<00:08:56.764> know,<00:08:56.828> those<00:08:57.069> are<00:08:57.101> sort<00:08:57.213> of<00:08:57.872> trying<00:08:58.113> to<00:08:58.193> calibrate.

00:08:58.514 --> 00:09:02.400
Maybe<00:08:58.675> Rotten<00:08:58.915> Tomatoes,<00:09:00.023> um,<00:09:00.923> those<00:09:01.083> are<00:09:01.147> sort<00:09:01.324> of<00:09:01.485> in<00:09:01.629> our<00:09:01.870> time<00:09:02.143> zone.

00:09:02.592 --> 00:09:04.872
Regulation<00:09:03.090> of<00:09:03.235> all<00:09:03.476> of—<00:09:03.813> and<00:09:03.973> that's<00:09:04.150> not<00:09:04.294> that<00:09:04.455> way<00:09:04.503> you<00:09:04.632> say<00:09:04.776> that.

00:09:04.937 --> 00:09:05.659
You're<00:09:05.033> kind<00:09:05.226> of<00:09:05.258> like<00:09:05.483> all<00:09:05.579> of<00:09:05.611> them.

00:09:06.703 --> 00:09:13.989
Yeah,<00:09:06.928> we've<00:09:07.024> got<00:09:07.120> a<00:09:07.185> piece<00:09:07.490> of<00:09:07.570> each<00:09:07.747> of<00:09:07.827> them,<00:09:07.971> but<00:09:08.630> I<00:09:08.646> think<00:09:08.806> what<00:09:08.887> we<00:09:09.031> do—<00:09:09.738> what<00:09:09.834> we're<00:09:10.011> uniquely<00:09:10.396> positioned<00:09:10.878> because<00:09:11.183> we<00:09:11.970> we<00:09:12.050> have<00:09:12.098> such<00:09:12.306> a<00:09:12.402> broad<00:09:12.803> footprint<00:09:13.204> in<00:09:13.428> entertainment.

00:09:14.310 --> 00:09:18.028
We've<00:09:14.550> got<00:09:14.727> these<00:09:15.159> 200,000<00:09:16.089> wikis<00:09:16.490> and<00:09:16.634> 45<00:09:17.035> million<00:09:17.211> pages<00:09:17.532> of<00:09:17.596> content.

00:09:18.093 --> 00:09:24.120
We've<00:09:18.253> got<00:09:19.359> this<00:09:19.599> really<00:09:19.920> broad<00:09:20.257> view,<00:09:20.577> and<00:09:20.721> actually<00:09:21.138> we've<00:09:21.379> built<00:09:21.603> this<00:09:22.340> data<00:09:22.581> platform<00:09:23.062> called<00:09:23.302> FanDNA.

00:09:24.969 --> 00:09:34.458
And<00:09:25.530> what<00:09:25.642> we've<00:09:25.787> done<00:09:26.107> basically<00:09:26.588> is<00:09:26.812> you<00:09:26.893> would've<00:09:27.069> done<00:09:27.229> the<00:09:27.309> same<00:09:27.550> thing,<00:09:27.854> which<00:09:28.031> is,<00:09:28.175> okay,<00:09:28.576> how<00:09:28.672> do<00:09:28.896> we<00:09:29.794> build<00:09:30.018> an<00:09:30.114> ontology<00:09:30.852> and<00:09:30.932> a<00:09:30.996> taxonomy<00:09:31.717> on<00:09:31.797> the<00:09:31.878> platform<00:09:32.615> so<00:09:32.919> we<00:09:33.144> kind<00:09:33.336> of<00:09:33.561> know<00:09:33.961> what's<00:09:34.282> there?

00:09:35.468 --> 00:09:46.204
And<00:09:35.548> then<00:09:35.725> as<00:09:35.885> those<00:09:36.350> 300<00:09:36.606> million<00:09:36.927> folks<00:09:37.247> come<00:09:37.472> through,<00:09:37.953> we're<00:09:38.113> able<00:09:38.241> to<00:09:38.353> kind<00:09:38.530> of,<00:09:38.674> we're<00:09:39.107> not,<00:09:39.636> capturing<00:09:40.118> any<00:09:40.535> PII,<00:09:41.097> no<00:09:41.258> personal<00:09:41.547> information,<00:09:42.045> but<00:09:42.109> we're<00:09:42.205> able<00:09:42.334> to<00:09:42.382> sort<00:09:42.542> of<00:09:42.639> see<00:09:42.799> the<00:09:42.880> behaviors<00:09:44.389> and<00:09:44.534> then<00:09:44.630> we're<00:09:44.775> able<00:09:44.935> to<00:09:45.096> draw<00:09:45.738> connections.

00:09:46.702 --> 00:09:58.360
And<00:09:47.344> what<00:09:47.504> we've<00:09:47.842> done<00:09:48.147> is<00:09:48.243> we<00:09:48.388> built<00:09:48.564> this<00:09:48.757> thing<00:09:48.885> called<00:09:49.142> Fandina<00:09:49.608> Helix,<00:09:50.170> which<00:09:51.310> essentially<00:09:51.696> identifies,<00:09:54.008> um,<00:09:54.650> you<00:09:54.682> know,<00:09:54.827> communities<00:09:55.855> that<00:09:56.096> you<00:09:56.176> may<00:09:56.288> not<00:09:56.690> expect<00:09:57.091> to<00:09:57.220> be<00:09:57.380> interested<00:09:57.798> in<00:09:57.862> your<00:09:57.958> product.

00:09:58.665 --> 00:10:05.313
So<00:09:58.826> we're<00:09:58.986> able<00:09:59.115> to<00:09:59.163> say,<00:09:59.243> hey,<00:09:59.468> you<00:09:59.548> know<00:09:59.709> what,<00:10:00.271> turns<00:10:00.592> out<00:10:00.624> the<00:10:00.753> people<00:10:01.090> making<00:10:01.331> this<00:10:01.555> up<00:10:02.198> who<00:10:02.294> love<00:10:02.776> RPG<00:10:03.097> fantasy<00:10:04.446> also<00:10:04.607> love<00:10:04.847> horror<00:10:05.024> movies.

00:10:05.731 --> 00:10:12.939
And<00:10:05.891> there's<00:10:06.132> a<00:10:06.614> sort<00:10:06.790> of<00:10:07.128> non-intuitive<00:10:08.075> connection<00:10:08.637> we're<00:10:08.797> able<00:10:08.990> to<00:10:09.118> draw<00:10:09.440> for<00:10:09.680> folks<00:10:09.985> who<00:10:10.708> are<00:10:10.788> trying<00:10:11.189> to<00:10:12.008> reach<00:10:12.249> and<00:10:12.329> market<00:10:12.650> folks.

00:10:13.004 --> 00:10:22.139
So<00:10:13.838> I<00:10:13.854> think<00:10:13.935> that's<00:10:14.176> what's<00:10:14.400> unique<00:10:14.737> about<00:10:15.444> us<00:10:15.604> compared<00:10:15.926> to<00:10:16.006> our<00:10:16.102> competitors<00:10:16.728> is<00:10:16.825> because<00:10:17.130> we<00:10:17.162> have<00:10:17.242> this<00:10:17.531> really<00:10:17.852> broad,<00:10:18.109> I<00:10:18.269> mean,<00:10:18.414> Reddit's<00:10:18.735> somewhat<00:10:19.056> similar,<00:10:20.276> but<00:10:20.437> we're<00:10:20.597> really<00:10:20.902> about<00:10:21.384> purely<00:10:21.721> fans.

00:10:22.203 --> 00:10:23.808
Reddit's<00:10:22.524> got<00:10:22.701> a<00:10:22.765> very<00:10:23.006> broad<00:10:23.407> mandate.

00:10:24.868 --> 00:10:36.331
Since<00:10:25.012> we're<00:10:25.109> so<00:10:25.333> much<00:10:25.510> about<00:10:25.655> these<00:10:25.783> imagined<00:10:26.200> worlds,<00:10:26.441> we're<00:10:26.602> able<00:10:26.698> to<00:10:26.843> really<00:10:27.421> diagnose<00:10:28.047> kind<00:10:28.207> of<00:10:28.287> what's<00:10:28.448> happening<00:10:29.748> between<00:10:30.310> these<00:10:30.551> different<00:10:31.049> segments<00:10:31.659> and<00:10:31.755> genres<00:10:32.397> and<00:10:32.558> like<00:10:32.783> what<00:10:32.879> people<00:10:33.184> are<00:10:33.264> interested<00:10:33.762> in<00:10:33.987> and<00:10:34.147> finding<00:10:34.404> some<00:10:34.629> really<00:10:34.870> unusual<00:10:35.528> connective<00:10:35.994> tissue.

00:10:37.052 --> 00:10:47.965
And<00:10:37.197> then<00:10:37.293> being<00:10:37.597> able<00:10:37.854> to<00:10:38.735> use<00:10:38.991> that<00:10:39.232> in<00:10:39.360> order<00:10:39.536> to<00:10:39.777> build<00:10:39.937> better<00:10:40.097> product,<00:10:40.738> to<00:10:40.898> build<00:10:41.059> like<00:10:41.219> recommendation<00:10:41.844> engine,<00:10:42.341> or<00:10:42.421> we'll,<00:10:43.062> you<00:10:43.142> know,<00:10:43.302> build<00:10:43.542> things<00:10:43.847> that<00:10:44.568> will<00:10:44.664> delight<00:10:44.985> people<00:10:45.273> like<00:10:45.385> a<00:10:45.401> map,<00:10:46.106> but<00:10:46.171> we'll<00:10:46.411> also<00:10:46.507> use<00:10:46.747> it<00:10:46.828> to<00:10:46.924> make<00:10:47.148> the<00:10:47.372> ads<00:10:47.533> work<00:10:47.709> better.

00:10:48.142 --> 00:10:50.353
So<00:10:48.510> that's<00:10:48.815> the<00:10:48.911> thing<00:10:48.991> that's<00:10:49.231> sort<00:10:49.392> of<00:10:49.456> unique<00:10:49.712> about<00:10:49.936> what<00:10:50.033> we<00:10:50.177> do.

00:10:51.779 --> 00:10:54.776
Your<00:10:51.956> FanDNA<00:10:52.661> product<00:10:52.997> is<00:10:53.141> really<00:10:53.382> interesting<00:10:53.895> around<00:10:54.199> the<00:10:54.359> data.

00:10:55.000 --> 00:11:01.715
And<00:10:55.305> I'm<00:10:55.641> sure<00:10:55.962> that<00:10:56.202> you<00:10:56.443> know<00:10:56.603> this,<00:10:56.843> like,<00:10:57.500> seems<00:10:57.709> like<00:10:57.869> the<00:10:57.901> most<00:10:58.189> valuable,<00:10:59.407> you<00:10:59.471> know,<00:10:59.712> asset<00:11:00.032> you<00:11:00.193> have<00:11:00.513> is<00:11:00.689> that<00:11:00.962> data,<00:11:01.555> right?

00:11:02.293 --> 00:11:06.809
And<00:11:02.438> how<00:11:02.680> you<00:11:03.487> use<00:11:03.809> it<00:11:04.212> and<00:11:04.938> learn<00:11:05.293> about<00:11:05.503> your<00:11:05.664> customers<00:11:06.067> and<00:11:06.148> all<00:11:06.229> that<00:11:06.325> type<00:11:06.503> of<00:11:06.567> stuff.

00:11:08.220 --> 00:11:09.705
How<00:11:08.252> does<00:11:08.559> AI,<00:11:08.898> how<00:11:09.027> are<00:11:09.124> you<00:11:09.220> thinking<00:11:09.463> about<00:11:09.640> AI?

00:11:09.850 --> 00:11:14.063
Because<00:11:10.253> obviously<00:11:10.657> AI<00:11:11.077> transforms<00:11:11.787> data<00:11:12.836> in<00:11:13.159> a<00:11:13.256> really<00:11:13.563> interesting<00:11:13.983> way.

00:11:15.610 --> 00:11:15.771
Yes.

00:11:16.029 --> 00:11:18.787
You<00:11:16.110> and<00:11:16.191> I<00:11:16.271> probably<00:11:16.513> both<00:11:16.707> could<00:11:16.852> go<00:11:17.013> for<00:11:17.158> another<00:11:17.400> couple<00:11:17.642> hours<00:11:18.045> on<00:11:18.126> this<00:11:18.303> front.

00:11:19.271 --> 00:11:21.029
I'm<00:11:20.238> very<00:11:20.480> curious.

00:11:21.125 --> 00:11:22.641
I'm<00:11:21.593> very<00:11:21.770> nerdy<00:11:22.157> about<00:11:22.399> all<00:11:22.496> this.

00:11:24.673 --> 00:11:28.161
We<00:11:25.625> don't<00:11:25.868> use,<00:11:26.191> we<00:11:26.433> use<00:11:26.675> AI<00:11:26.950> in<00:11:27.030> a<00:11:27.095> number<00:11:27.418> of<00:11:27.483> fronts<00:11:27.806> today.

00:11:28.968 --> 00:11:29.889
Some<00:11:29.210> of<00:11:29.275> it<00:11:29.340> we<00:11:29.420> use<00:11:29.598> for<00:11:29.695> moderation.

00:11:31.527 --> 00:11:37.640
Look<00:11:31.705> at<00:11:31.802> images<00:11:32.271> and<00:11:32.756> detect<00:11:33.080> whether<00:11:33.387> or<00:11:33.500> not<00:11:33.872> somebody<00:11:34.115> accidentally<00:11:34.535> posts<00:11:34.762> something<00:11:34.939> they<00:11:35.020> shouldn't<00:11:35.425> or<00:11:36.314> takes<00:11:36.459> something<00:11:36.702> down<00:11:36.945> that<00:11:37.025> shouldn't<00:11:37.300> be<00:11:37.365> there.

00:11:38.387 --> 00:11:40.884
We<00:11:38.468> use<00:11:38.711> AI<00:11:39.295> operationally<00:11:39.862> in<00:11:39.960> a<00:11:40.025> number<00:11:40.349> of<00:11:40.430> fronts.

00:11:41.889 --> 00:11:46.235
For<00:11:41.970> our<00:11:42.133> core<00:11:42.522> dataset,<00:11:43.024> we<00:11:44.727> use<00:11:45.133> a<00:11:45.376> lot<00:11:45.554> of<00:11:45.603> machine<00:11:45.927> learning.

00:11:47.147 --> 00:12:01.944
I<00:11:47.227> like<00:11:47.388> to<00:11:47.469> distinguish<00:11:47.984> between<00:11:48.355> what<00:11:48.516> is<00:11:48.677> really<00:11:49.579> machine-learned<00:11:50.207> and<00:11:50.304> algorithmic,<00:11:51.915> which<00:11:52.318> basically<00:11:52.737> it's<00:11:53.671> a<00:11:53.848> more<00:11:54.090> linear<00:11:54.476> process,<00:11:55.378> meaning<00:11:56.188> A<00:11:56.270> plus<00:11:56.449> B<00:11:56.531> equals<00:11:56.775> C,<00:11:57.004> which<00:11:57.248> is<00:11:57.411> versus<00:11:58.129> AI,<00:11:58.471> which<00:11:58.716> is<00:11:59.678> as<00:11:59.758> you<00:11:59.790> know,<00:11:59.999> uses<00:12:00.208> vector<00:12:00.514> math,<00:12:00.883> and<00:12:00.963> so<00:12:01.044> it's<00:12:01.205> inference-based.

00:12:03.310 --> 00:12:17.305
And<00:12:03.470> so,<00:12:04.258> I'm<00:12:04.499> really<00:12:04.675> careful<00:12:05.318> when<00:12:05.479> we<00:12:05.559> start<00:12:05.864> building<00:12:06.105> these<00:12:06.282> things<00:12:06.588> that<00:12:06.764> we've<00:12:08.114> got<00:12:08.291> a<00:12:08.371> really<00:12:08.596> well-tuned<00:12:09.159> model<00:12:09.576> and<00:12:09.737> we<00:12:10.701> haven't<00:12:11.087> been<00:12:11.247> able<00:12:11.424> to<00:12:11.489> kind<00:12:11.601> of<00:12:11.665> put<00:12:11.890> the<00:12:11.987> investment<00:12:12.453> into<00:12:12.710> building<00:12:13.176> the<00:12:13.256> model,<00:12:13.674> but<00:12:13.818> we<00:12:13.979> are<00:12:14.317> talking<00:12:14.622> to<00:12:14.702> a<00:12:14.718> number<00:12:14.959> of<00:12:15.104> partners<00:12:15.602> about<00:12:16.309> putting<00:12:16.486> our<00:12:16.631> data<00:12:16.823> to<00:12:17.032> work.

00:12:17.354 --> 00:12:35.786
And<00:12:17.434> I<00:12:18.318> actually<00:12:18.559> think<00:12:19.603> you've<00:12:19.844> probably<00:12:20.101> seen<00:12:21.049> OpenAI's<00:12:22.672> O1<00:12:22.833> version<00:12:23.219> right<00:12:23.395> now,<00:12:23.781> which<00:12:24.102> I<00:12:24.199> think<00:12:24.986> The<00:12:25.242> really<00:12:25.579> interesting<00:12:25.963> thing<00:12:26.300> is<00:12:26.508> the<00:12:27.149> processing<00:12:27.966> is<00:12:28.767> moving<00:12:29.072> beyond<00:12:29.809> inference<00:12:30.290> and<00:12:30.370> moving<00:12:30.674> towards<00:12:31.812> more<00:12:32.036> traditional<00:12:32.709> synthesis<00:12:33.735> and<00:12:33.959> maybe<00:12:34.216> some<00:12:34.696> more<00:12:34.841> recursive<00:12:35.273> analysis.

00:12:35.898 --> 00:12:55.473
And<00:12:36.539> what<00:12:36.619> that<00:12:36.860> I<00:12:36.924> think<00:12:37.084> will<00:12:37.244> do<00:12:37.485> is<00:12:37.645> for<00:12:37.741> folks<00:12:38.045> like<00:12:38.286> us<00:12:38.526> who<00:12:39.984> have<00:12:40.609> insights,<00:12:41.667> we<00:12:41.747> know<00:12:41.955> what<00:12:42.052> fans<00:12:42.388> want<00:12:42.789> and<00:12:42.853> we<00:12:42.933> want<00:12:43.029> to<00:12:43.109> service<00:12:43.574> them,<00:12:43.670> we'll<00:12:43.830> be<00:12:43.990> able<00:12:44.151> to<00:12:44.311> plug<00:12:44.695> into<00:12:44.872> some<00:12:45.112> of<00:12:45.192> these<00:12:45.497> AI<00:12:45.753> utilities<00:12:47.195> in<00:12:47.275> the<00:12:47.356> future<00:12:47.772> because<00:12:49.423> these<00:12:49.519> frontier<00:12:49.855> models<00:12:50.320> are<00:12:50.400> just,<00:12:50.865> I<00:12:50.945> think,<00:12:51.458> they're<00:12:53.048> growing<00:12:53.369> by<00:12:53.626> orders<00:12:53.851> of<00:12:53.915> magnitude<00:12:54.413> almost<00:12:54.590> every<00:12:54.799> 12<00:12:54.975> months<00:12:55.281> right<00:12:55.393> now.

00:12:55.698 --> 00:12:58.685
And<00:12:55.778> I<00:12:55.939> really<00:12:56.100> think<00:12:56.421> over<00:12:56.501> the<00:12:56.565> next<00:12:56.903> 12<00:12:57.144> to<00:12:57.208> 18<00:12:57.449> months,<00:12:57.706> we'll<00:12:57.802> be<00:12:57.882> able<00:12:58.011> to<00:12:58.091> plug<00:12:58.348> into<00:12:58.525> them.

00:12:58.750 --> 00:13:03.616
So<00:12:59.553> we're<00:12:59.649> really<00:12:59.874> focused<00:13:00.259> right<00:13:00.372> now<00:13:00.757> on<00:13:00.918> making<00:13:01.223> sure<00:13:01.464> we've<00:13:01.625> got<00:13:01.817> a<00:13:01.882> really<00:13:02.122> good<00:13:02.347> taxonomy<00:13:02.990> ontology.

00:13:04.612 --> 00:13:08.595
We've<00:13:04.853> got<00:13:05.817> at<00:13:05.913> least<00:13:06.218> a<00:13:06.234> schema<00:13:06.941> where<00:13:07.101> we<00:13:07.182> think<00:13:07.503> we<00:13:07.583> can<00:13:07.728> talk<00:13:07.985> about<00:13:08.226> weighting.

00:13:09.494 --> 00:13:12.562
We<00:13:09.591> have<00:13:09.816> roughly<00:13:10.153> probably<00:13:10.410> 6<00:13:10.651> or<00:13:10.715> 7<00:13:11.036> billion<00:13:11.358> tokens<00:13:11.823> on<00:13:11.904> our<00:13:12.000> platform.

00:13:13.365 --> 00:13:14.281
So<00:13:13.462> we<00:13:13.590> do<00:13:13.686> have<00:13:13.911> scale.

00:13:14.971 --> 00:13:20.553
And<00:13:15.036> so<00:13:15.132> between<00:13:15.598> the<00:13:15.871> sort<00:13:16.063> of<00:13:16.176> insights<00:13:16.593> I<00:13:16.658> think<00:13:16.818> we<00:13:16.963> have,<00:13:17.364> the<00:13:17.846> work<00:13:18.086> we'll<00:13:18.262> do<00:13:18.503> with<00:13:18.743> our<00:13:18.903> data<00:13:19.304> to<00:13:19.528> structure<00:13:19.945> it<00:13:20.089> correctly.

00:13:21.306 --> 00:13:31.480
And<00:13:21.387> then<00:13:22.108> we've<00:13:22.268> got<00:13:22.588> products<00:13:22.989> we're<00:13:23.069> building<00:13:23.373> today,<00:13:23.630> but<00:13:23.726> again,<00:13:23.870> those<00:13:24.030> products<00:13:24.367> are<00:13:24.447> more<00:13:24.703> derivative<00:13:26.049> of<00:13:26.113> machine<00:13:26.514> learning<00:13:26.914> and<00:13:27.379> algorithmic<00:13:27.876> math<00:13:28.260> versus<00:13:29.398> needing<00:13:29.718> to<00:13:29.798> plug<00:13:30.119> into<00:13:30.263> AI<00:13:30.599> to<00:13:30.743> get<00:13:30.920> an<00:13:31.000> outcome.

00:13:32.282 --> 00:13:46.173
There's<00:13:32.394> certain<00:13:32.666> things<00:13:32.778> around<00:13:33.003> game<00:13:33.227> utility<00:13:33.724> we<00:13:33.884> will<00:13:34.124> start<00:13:34.428> working<00:13:34.669> on<00:13:34.765> sooner<00:13:35.069> than<00:13:35.230> later,<00:13:36.111> and<00:13:37.473> then<00:13:37.553> we'll<00:13:37.713> continue<00:13:38.130> to<00:13:38.274> work<00:13:38.530> into<00:13:38.690> that,<00:13:38.915> I<00:13:38.931> think,<00:13:39.155> as<00:13:40.228> some<00:13:40.437> of<00:13:40.469> the<00:13:40.597> APIs<00:13:40.949> are<00:13:41.014> available<00:13:41.414> to<00:13:41.638> us<00:13:41.815> to<00:13:41.959> tap<00:13:42.279> into<00:13:42.776> to<00:13:43.096> run<00:13:43.337> models<00:13:43.881> on<00:13:44.042> a<00:13:44.298> bespoke<00:13:44.699> basis<00:13:45.099> against<00:13:45.275> some<00:13:45.436> of<00:13:45.500> the<00:13:45.580> insights<00:13:45.980> we<00:13:46.060> have.

00:13:46.317 --> 00:13:50.437
So,<00:13:47.273> That's<00:13:47.579> sort<00:13:47.821> of<00:13:47.983> where<00:13:48.177> we<00:13:48.386> are<00:13:48.564> right<00:13:48.726> now<00:13:49.048> in<00:13:49.274> terms<00:13:49.549> of<00:13:49.630> our<00:13:49.759> approach<00:13:50.098> to<00:13:50.179> AI.

00:13:52.681 --> 00:14:04.505
With<00:13:52.842> the<00:13:53.004> data<00:13:53.391> you<00:13:53.488> have,<00:13:54.310> I'm<00:13:54.422> sure<00:13:54.648> that<00:13:54.745> you've<00:13:54.906> thought<00:13:55.068> about<00:13:55.294> this,<00:13:55.471> like<00:13:55.955> these<00:13:56.520> studios<00:13:57.310> that<00:13:57.488> make<00:13:57.875> games,<00:13:58.681> you<00:13:58.762> know,<00:13:59.004> that<00:13:59.101> do<00:13:59.246> all<00:13:59.343> this<00:13:59.440> type<00:13:59.601> of<00:13:59.665> stuff,<00:14:00.295> they're<00:14:00.391> probably<00:14:00.795> interested<00:14:01.262> in<00:14:01.440> fan<00:14:01.682> sentiment,<00:14:02.311> what<00:14:02.569> fans<00:14:02.892> are<00:14:03.198> really<00:14:03.456> interested<00:14:03.779> in,<00:14:03.860> what<00:14:04.021> they<00:14:04.070> don't<00:14:04.263> like.

00:14:05.393 --> 00:14:10.671
And<00:14:05.474> so<00:14:05.619> I<00:14:05.781> wonder,<00:14:06.442> part<00:14:06.620> of<00:14:06.749> this<00:14:06.927> question<00:14:07.314> is,<00:14:08.218> do<00:14:08.282> you<00:14:08.379> work<00:14:08.605> with<00:14:08.783> them<00:14:09.203> and<00:14:09.283> is<00:14:09.412> there<00:14:09.574> any<00:14:09.751> kind<00:14:09.913> of<00:14:09.993> relationship<00:14:10.542> there?

00:14:11.269 --> 00:14:15.200
And<00:14:11.430> the<00:14:11.527> other<00:14:11.753> one<00:14:11.914> is,<00:14:12.318> have<00:14:12.431> you<00:14:12.495> ever<00:14:12.657> thought<00:14:12.899> about<00:14:13.564> starting<00:14:14.077> your<00:14:14.237> own<00:14:14.735> game<00:14:14.959> studio.

00:14:15.280 --> 00:14:21.120
I<00:14:15.361> mean,<00:14:15.521> who<00:14:15.681> would<00:14:15.858> know<00:14:16.018> more<00:14:16.419> about,<00:14:17.607> um,<00:14:18.489> fans<00:14:19.291> and<00:14:19.452> what<00:14:19.692> they're<00:14:19.869> looking<00:14:20.270> for<00:14:20.510> than<00:14:20.735> you<00:14:20.831> guys?

00:14:22.339 --> 00:14:33.056
Yeah,<00:14:22.436> so<00:14:22.660> on<00:14:22.756> those,<00:14:23.478> those<00:14:23.639> two<00:14:23.799> notes,<00:14:24.120> we,<00:14:24.361> we<00:14:24.505> do<00:14:24.682> work<00:14:24.986> with<00:14:25.099> studios<00:14:26.190> to<00:14:26.286> give<00:14:26.462> them<00:14:26.607> the<00:14:26.687> insights<00:14:27.409> to<00:14:27.457> help<00:14:27.650> them<00:14:28.275> hopefully<00:14:29.077> build<00:14:29.350> a<00:14:29.414> product<00:14:29.815> that's<00:14:29.976> going<00:14:30.120> to<00:14:30.152> be<00:14:30.361> closer<00:14:30.778> to<00:14:31.019> the,<00:14:31.564> you<00:14:31.596> know,<00:14:31.821> target<00:14:32.366> that<00:14:32.462> they're<00:14:32.703> aiming<00:14:32.864> for.

00:14:33.329 --> 00:14:48.343
Because<00:14:33.650> we<00:14:33.730> can<00:14:33.826> say,<00:14:33.890> okay,<00:14:34.131> here's<00:14:34.372> what's<00:14:34.628> trending,<00:14:35.190> or<00:14:35.832> here's<00:14:35.976> what's<00:14:36.136> worked<00:14:36.329> in<00:14:36.393> the<00:14:36.473> past,<00:14:37.436> or<00:14:37.500> here's<00:14:37.757> just,<00:14:38.479> you<00:14:38.559> know,<00:14:38.800> folks<00:14:39.088> from<00:14:39.265> Paramount<00:14:39.602> have<00:14:39.842> talked<00:14:40.067> to<00:14:40.163> us<00:14:40.308> about<00:14:40.420> Star<00:14:40.725> Trek,<00:14:41.030> you<00:14:41.062> know,<00:14:41.142> just<00:14:41.302> you<00:14:41.431> understand<00:14:41.832> the<00:14:41.864> whole<00:14:42.088> heritage<00:14:42.505> and<00:14:42.634> canon<00:14:43.453> so<00:14:43.550> that<00:14:43.695> what<00:14:43.921> you<00:14:44.567> write<00:14:44.760> is<00:14:44.906> consistent<00:14:45.632> with<00:14:45.939> what<00:14:46.261> the<00:14:46.600> history<00:14:47.472> of<00:14:47.795> the<00:14:47.972> IP<00:14:48.214> is.

00:14:50.337 --> 00:14:55.834
And<00:14:50.418> so,<00:14:50.499> we<00:14:50.660> do<00:14:50.806> that<00:14:50.984> today<00:14:51.630> and<00:14:51.857> each<00:14:52.520> business<00:14:52.908> has<00:14:53.085> a<00:14:53.166> different<00:14:53.570> way<00:14:53.813> of<00:14:54.217> wanting<00:14:54.476> to<00:14:54.686> access<00:14:55.106> the<00:14:55.268> insights.

00:14:57.111 --> 00:15:03.838
And<00:14:57.192> we<00:14:57.273> have<00:14:57.693> done<00:14:58.001> some<00:14:58.243> publishing<00:14:58.728> launches<00:14:59.084> in<00:14:59.148> the<00:14:59.294> gaming<00:14:59.440> world<00:14:59.779> where<00:14:59.844> we're<00:14:59.941> able<00:15:00.119> to<00:15:00.183> say,<00:15:00.361> okay,<00:15:00.685> we<00:15:00.830> can<00:15:01.978> take<00:15:02.221> a<00:15:02.302> game<00:15:02.949> and<00:15:03.029> we<00:15:03.175> can<00:15:03.288> market<00:15:03.741> it.

00:15:04.242 --> 00:15:13.158
And<00:15:04.323> actually,<00:15:04.550> that's<00:15:04.663> what<00:15:04.727> we<00:15:04.824> do<00:15:05.035> for<00:15:06.425> several<00:15:06.894> big<00:15:08.350> gaming<00:15:08.608> publishers<00:15:08.932> today<00:15:09.325> because<00:15:09.587> they<00:15:09.899> advertise<00:15:10.242> on<00:15:10.308> our<00:15:10.488> platform,<00:15:10.963> we<00:15:11.061> provide<00:15:11.389> them<00:15:11.536> the<00:15:11.635> insights<00:15:12.109> to<00:15:12.175> help<00:15:12.372> them<00:15:12.535> do<00:15:12.617> a<00:15:12.634> better<00:15:12.863> job<00:15:13.043> of<00:15:13.108> that.

00:15:15.339 --> 00:15:18.384
And<00:15:15.419> we<00:15:16.380> talk<00:15:16.637> about<00:15:16.861> getting<00:15:17.118> into<00:15:17.214> the<00:15:17.294> game<00:15:17.502> studios<00:15:17.999> business.

00:15:18.881 --> 00:15:22.823
The<00:15:18.961> tension<00:15:19.442> right<00:15:19.602> now<00:15:19.922> in<00:15:20.083> getting<00:15:20.387> into<00:15:20.628> game<00:15:20.884> studio<00:15:21.365> development<00:15:21.926> is<00:15:22.070> just<00:15:22.246> the<00:15:22.391> timing.

00:15:24.170 --> 00:15:28.769
You<00:15:24.266> know,<00:15:24.875> these<00:15:25.051> games,<00:15:26.173> probably<00:15:26.365> know<00:15:26.510> they,<00:15:27.135> you<00:15:27.231> know,<00:15:27.295> mobile<00:15:27.600> games<00:15:27.856> really<00:15:28.032> not<00:15:28.353> in<00:15:28.417> our<00:15:28.513> sphere.

00:15:28.818 --> 00:15:31.799
Those<00:15:28.962> are<00:15:29.042> usually<00:15:29.443> fairly<00:15:29.763> light<00:15:29.939> touch,<00:15:30.260> lightweight,<00:15:31.061> casual<00:15:31.462> games.

00:15:32.824 --> 00:15:37.953
We're<00:15:32.985> very<00:15:33.161> much<00:15:33.449> anchored<00:15:33.722> in<00:15:33.802> the<00:15:33.946> PC<00:15:34.267> games<00:15:34.668> and<00:15:34.732> the<00:15:34.828> console<00:15:35.229> game<00:15:35.533> world,<00:15:35.709> which<00:15:35.806> is<00:15:35.870> about<00:15:36.094> the<00:15:36.174> other<00:15:36.350> 50%<00:15:36.976> of<00:15:37.152> the<00:15:37.232> gaming<00:15:37.553> market.

00:15:38.819 --> 00:15:52.690
And<00:15:39.396> to<00:15:39.556> release,<00:15:40.277> in<00:15:40.357> particularly<00:15:40.742> a<00:15:41.014> AAA<00:15:41.623> console<00:15:42.200> game,<00:15:43.018> it's<00:15:44.047> in<00:15:44.143> some<00:15:44.368> cases<00:15:45.637> hundreds<00:15:45.974> of<00:15:46.039> millions<00:15:46.392> of<00:15:46.456> dollars,<00:15:46.938> in<00:15:47.340> other<00:15:47.565> cases<00:15:47.983> it's<00:15:48.111> at<00:15:48.208> least<00:15:48.609> tens<00:15:48.947> of<00:15:49.011> millions<00:15:49.348> of<00:15:49.412> dollars<00:15:49.734> being<00:15:49.894> invested<00:15:50.328> in<00:15:50.457> these<00:15:50.633> builds<00:15:51.019> over<00:15:51.822> 2<00:15:51.919> or<00:15:52.015> 3<00:15:52.385> years.

00:15:53.284 --> 00:15:56.369
So<00:15:54.088> that's<00:15:54.489> very<00:15:54.586> much<00:15:54.811> kind<00:15:54.971> of<00:15:55.035> a<00:15:55.052> hit-driven<00:15:56.080> betting.

00:15:56.803 --> 00:16:03.004
And<00:15:56.867> in<00:15:57.204> a<00:15:57.236> lot<00:15:57.477> of<00:15:57.526> ways,<00:15:57.943> big<00:15:58.120> franchises<00:15:58.907> tend<00:15:59.245> to<00:16:00.016> work<00:16:00.594> better<00:16:00.996> than<00:16:01.237> trying<00:16:01.478> to<00:16:01.558> kind<00:16:01.703> of<00:16:01.783> break<00:16:02.056> through<00:16:02.361> with<00:16:02.442> something<00:16:02.843> new.

00:16:03.823 --> 00:16:14.905
So<00:16:03.968> we've<00:16:04.209> been<00:16:04.675> cautious<00:16:05.960> about<00:16:06.217> getting<00:16:06.538> into<00:16:06.779> that<00:16:07.004> space<00:16:07.422> because<00:16:07.904> again,<00:16:08.145> the<00:16:08.466> cost<00:16:08.868> and<00:16:08.932> the<00:16:09.029> time<00:16:10.153> The<00:16:10.233> fact<00:16:10.538> that<00:16:10.619> it's<00:16:10.715> a<00:16:10.779> big<00:16:10.956> bet,<00:16:11.277> we<00:16:12.626> really<00:16:13.364> figure<00:16:13.749> out,<00:16:13.830> well,<00:16:13.926> what<00:16:14.087> can<00:16:14.135> we<00:16:14.167> be<00:16:14.327> really<00:16:14.568> good<00:16:14.809> at?

00:16:14.954 --> 00:16:18.052
Well,<00:16:15.050> we<00:16:15.130> think<00:16:15.291> we<00:16:15.371> can<00:16:15.467> be<00:16:15.596> really<00:16:15.756> good<00:16:15.869> at<00:16:15.933> giving<00:16:16.254> insights<00:16:16.527> to<00:16:16.656> people<00:16:16.896> who<00:16:17.041> want<00:16:17.201> to<00:16:17.458> place<00:16:17.699> that<00:16:17.940> bet.

00:16:19.465 --> 00:16:23.158
We<00:16:19.610> may<00:16:19.786> move<00:16:20.091> into<00:16:20.445> that<00:16:20.894> realm<00:16:21.167> if<00:16:21.376> we<00:16:21.456> feel<00:16:21.729> like<00:16:22.098> there's<00:16:22.275> a<00:16:22.355> way<00:16:22.596> to<00:16:22.837> do<00:16:23.062> it.

00:16:23.832 --> 00:16:34.429
Maybe<00:16:24.041> the<00:16:24.121> time<00:16:24.507> horizon<00:16:24.908> comes<00:16:25.165> down<00:16:25.550> with<00:16:25.711> AI<00:16:26.193> that<00:16:26.289> allows<00:16:26.674> games<00:16:26.995> to<00:16:27.092> be<00:16:27.236> produced<00:16:27.589> in<00:16:28.232> a<00:16:28.296> shorter<00:16:29.339> window,<00:16:30.303> and<00:16:30.383> then<00:16:30.704> that<00:16:30.865> way<00:16:30.961> our<00:16:31.170> insights<00:16:31.667> are<00:16:31.732> saying,<00:16:31.908> okay,<00:16:32.149> here's<00:16:32.390> where<00:16:32.615> we<00:16:32.711> think<00:16:33.016> the<00:16:33.674> puck<00:16:33.931> is<00:16:34.076> going.

00:16:35.730 --> 00:16:41.082
We<00:16:35.826> can<00:16:36.627> put<00:16:36.739> a<00:16:36.803> game<00:16:36.963> to<00:16:37.044> market<00:16:37.428> in<00:16:37.829> 18<00:16:38.101> months<00:16:38.486> that<00:16:38.710> may<00:16:38.822> have<00:16:38.966> a<00:16:38.982> higher<00:16:40.072> chance<00:16:40.489> to<00:16:40.729> do<00:16:40.969> well.

00:16:41.771 --> 00:16:47.283
Those<00:16:41.835> are<00:16:41.867> some<00:16:42.091> of<00:16:42.123> the<00:16:42.171> things<00:16:42.251> we're<00:16:42.332> working<00:16:42.636> on<00:16:42.716> right<00:16:42.892> now,<00:16:43.133> but<00:16:43.277> historically,<00:16:43.694> we've<00:16:43.854> been<00:16:44.014> a<00:16:44.078> little<00:16:44.254> cautious<00:16:44.735> there<00:16:44.895> because<00:16:45.296> of<00:16:45.376> that,<00:16:45.793> again,<00:16:46.081> that<00:16:46.177> time<00:16:46.514> and<00:16:46.642> cost<00:16:46.979> basis.

00:16:48.645 --> 00:16:50.071
What<00:16:48.805> were<00:16:48.886> you<00:16:49.046> doing<00:16:49.302> prior<00:16:49.623> to<00:16:49.703> Fandom?

00:16:51.530 --> 00:16:56.080
I<00:16:51.610> was<00:16:51.850> at<00:16:51.946> StubHub,<00:16:52.747> so<00:16:53.452> I<00:16:53.933> was<00:16:55.135> working<00:16:55.295> in<00:16:55.375> the<00:16:55.456> ticketing<00:16:55.792> space.

00:16:56.257 --> 00:17:03.901
I<00:16:56.289> spent<00:16:57.154> a<00:16:57.699> few<00:16:57.779> years<00:16:58.051> there<00:16:58.660> as<00:16:59.237> GM<00:16:59.478> of<00:16:59.574> Americas,<00:17:00.199> and<00:17:00.263> then<00:17:00.327> I<00:17:00.343> was<00:17:00.599> co-president<00:17:01.144> for<00:17:01.224> a<00:17:01.240> little<00:17:01.385> while<00:17:01.625> with<00:17:03.083> the<00:17:03.147> CFO<00:17:03.628> and<00:17:03.724> I.

00:17:04.622 --> 00:17:06.064
So<00:17:04.846> yeah,<00:17:04.926> it<00:17:05.006> was<00:17:05.151> great,<00:17:05.567> great<00:17:05.792> time.

00:17:06.930 --> 00:17:09.782
Big<00:17:07.170> ticket,<00:17:07.491> $5<00:17:07.731> billion<00:17:08.452> in<00:17:09.013> ticket<00:17:09.350> sales.

00:17:09.846 --> 00:17:10.792
So<00:17:09.894> that's<00:17:10.071> a<00:17:10.135> big<00:17:10.375> platform.

00:17:10.952 --> 00:17:11.625
It<00:17:11.016> was<00:17:11.241> pretty<00:17:11.417> fun.

00:17:12.539 --> 00:17:16.193
And<00:17:12.683> then<00:17:12.859> prior<00:17:13.260> to<00:17:13.404> that,<00:17:13.901> like<00:17:14.302> we<00:17:14.382> have<00:17:14.606> some<00:17:14.847> sort<00:17:15.103> of<00:17:15.327> Utah<00:17:15.664> connection.

00:17:16.369 --> 00:17:16.690
Yeah.

00:17:16.770 --> 00:17:18.452
What<00:17:17.186> were<00:17:17.491> you<00:17:17.523> doing<00:17:17.892> prior<00:17:18.132> to<00:17:18.212> that?

00:17:18.869 --> 00:17:19.366
So<00:17:18.933> I've<00:17:19.029> done<00:17:19.158> a<00:17:19.190> number.

00:17:19.430 --> 00:17:24.094
I<00:17:19.590> was,<00:17:20.055> I<00:17:20.280> was<00:17:20.568> at<00:17:20.696> the<00:17:20.776> NFL<00:17:21.177> before<00:17:21.514> that,<00:17:21.978> worked<00:17:22.956> for<00:17:23.116> the<00:17:23.276> WWE.

00:17:24.158 --> 00:17:31.899
But<00:17:24.318> then,<00:17:25.584> you<00:17:25.616> know,<00:17:25.841> from<00:17:26.161> about<00:17:27.107> '99<00:17:27.844> through<00:17:28.084> about<00:17:29.366> 2010-ish,<00:17:30.793> I<00:17:30.809> was<00:17:31.033> in<00:17:31.129> doing<00:17:31.354> Olympic<00:17:31.690> things.

00:17:31.963 --> 00:17:34.438
So<00:17:32.075> I<00:17:32.745> I<00:17:32.812> worked<00:17:33.147> on<00:17:33.248> the<00:17:33.566> Salt<00:17:33.818> Lake<00:17:34.002> Olympics.

00:17:35.797 --> 00:17:42.070
I<00:17:35.958> was<00:17:36.055> there<00:17:36.346> when<00:17:36.459> Mitt<00:17:36.702> and<00:17:36.783> Fraser<00:17:37.187> came<00:17:37.430> in,<00:17:37.753> Mitt<00:17:37.898> Romney<00:17:38.303> and<00:17:38.400> Fraser<00:17:38.723> Bullock,<00:17:39.030> both<00:17:39.224> of<00:17:39.354> whom<00:17:39.693> are<00:17:39.774> known<00:17:40.097> to<00:17:40.243> those<00:17:40.502> Silicon<00:17:40.987> Slopes<00:17:41.294> folks<00:17:41.633> in<00:17:41.779> Utah.

00:17:44.458 --> 00:17:54.674
And<00:17:44.571> so<00:17:45.104> I<00:17:45.185> worked,<00:17:45.669> I<00:17:45.701> went<00:17:46.330> briefly<00:17:46.653> over<00:17:46.750> to<00:17:46.831> the<00:17:46.895> 2000<00:17:47.412> Olympics<00:17:47.718> in<00:17:47.847> Sydney<00:17:48.089> and<00:17:48.186> got<00:17:48.283> seconded<00:17:48.751> there<00:17:48.896> for<00:17:48.993> a<00:17:49.074> bit<00:17:49.300> to<00:17:49.397> keep<00:17:49.558> an<00:17:49.639> eye<00:17:49.736> on<00:17:49.865> things<00:17:50.107> then,<00:17:50.204> but<00:17:50.349> really<00:17:51.172> was<00:17:51.317> responsible<00:17:52.059> in<00:17:52.140> 2002<00:17:52.866> for<00:17:53.593> very<00:17:53.819> early<00:17:54.077> internet<00:17:54.400> stuff.

00:17:55.853 --> 00:17:58.403
We<00:17:55.998> were<00:17:57.241> streaming<00:17:57.709> live<00:17:57.968> results.

00:17:58.500 --> 00:18:02.375
So<00:17:58.597> live<00:17:58.839> results<00:17:59.243> in<00:17:59.308> the<00:17:59.388> Olympics,<00:17:59.727> believe<00:17:59.905> it<00:17:59.953> or<00:17:59.986> not,<00:18:01.164> 22<00:18:01.422> years<00:18:01.745> ago<00:18:01.874> was<00:18:01.939> kind<00:18:02.004> of<00:18:02.036> a<00:18:02.052> big<00:18:02.100> thing<00:18:02.165> on<00:18:02.213> the<00:18:02.246> internet.

00:18:03.906 --> 00:18:12.763
Um,<00:18:04.869> and,<00:18:05.286> and<00:18:05.382> so<00:18:05.510> I<00:18:05.607> did<00:18:05.751> that<00:18:05.992> for<00:18:06.088> a<00:18:06.152> while<00:18:06.409> and<00:18:06.553> then<00:18:06.650> I,<00:18:07.035> uh,<00:18:07.291> I<00:18:07.516> was<00:18:07.837> the<00:18:07.933> privilege<00:18:08.238> to<00:18:08.318> go<00:18:08.415> work<00:18:08.639> for<00:18:08.800> NBC<00:18:09.297> and<00:18:10.180> did<00:18:10.340> more<00:18:10.565> of<00:18:10.645> that<00:18:10.821> sports<00:18:11.287> and<00:18:11.768> Olympics<00:18:12.185> digital<00:18:12.490> stuff.

00:18:12.811 --> 00:18:23.112
So<00:18:12.972> I<00:18:13.052> was<00:18:13.212> the<00:18:13.293> head<00:18:13.405> of<00:18:13.533> sports<00:18:13.870> and<00:18:13.934> Olympics<00:18:14.592> digital<00:18:15.058> and<00:18:15.154> did<00:18:15.459> the<00:18:15.860> 2008<00:18:16.357> Olympics,<00:18:16.758> 2010<00:18:17.240> Olympics,<00:18:17.785> and<00:18:18.989> NFL<00:18:19.326> streaming<00:18:20.032> and<00:18:20.465> a<00:18:20.593> lot<00:18:20.706> of<00:18:20.770> golf<00:18:21.251> and<00:18:21.331> a<00:18:21.572> bunch<00:18:21.813> of<00:18:21.893> other<00:18:22.118> stuff<00:18:22.374> that's<00:18:22.535> in<00:18:22.679> that<00:18:22.856> realm.

00:18:23.193 --> 00:18:31.681
So<00:18:23.257> that<00:18:23.417> was<00:18:23.562> a<00:18:23.642> chunk<00:18:23.899> of<00:18:23.979> time<00:18:24.300> that,<00:18:25.022> but<00:18:25.407> by<00:18:25.503> the<00:18:25.584> time<00:18:25.824> I<00:18:25.840> spent<00:18:26.049> in<00:18:26.145> Utah,<00:18:26.402> it<00:18:26.450> was<00:18:26.594> fantastic<00:18:27.349> to<00:18:27.509> be<00:18:27.653> able<00:18:27.766> to<00:18:27.894> work<00:18:28.151> with<00:18:29.098> Mitten<00:18:29.338> Fraser<00:18:29.820> and<00:18:30.221> Dave<00:18:30.397> Busser<00:18:30.782> there<00:18:31.023> on<00:18:31.119> that<00:18:31.344> project.

00:18:32.120 --> 00:18:33.070
Oh<00:18:32.670> yeah.

00:18:33.070 --> 00:18:34.430
Fraser<00:18:33.410> Bullock<00:18:33.610> is<00:18:33.870> a<00:18:34.050> legend.

00:18:34.430 --> 00:18:38.590
I<00:18:34.431> mean,<00:18:34.630> I<00:18:34.670> admit<00:18:35.150> it<00:18:35.350> is<00:18:35.490> too,<00:18:35.810> but<00:18:35.830> like<00:18:36.030> Fraser<00:18:36.390> Bullock<00:18:36.790> just,<00:18:37.170> and<00:18:37.330> he<00:18:37.430> just<00:18:37.590> brought<00:18:37.770> the<00:18:37.890> Olympics<00:18:38.190> back.

00:18:38.610 --> 00:18:39.410
I<00:18:38.830> know.

00:18:39.410 --> 00:18:42.970
Utah,<00:18:39.970> which<00:18:40.630> is<00:18:40.870> absolutely<00:18:41.450> incredible<00:18:42.030> and<00:18:42.230> exciting.

00:18:42.970 --> 00:18:44.370
So<00:18:42.971> yeah,<00:18:43.190> love<00:18:43.530> that<00:18:43.770> guy.

00:18:44.650 --> 00:18:45.910
Yeah,<00:18:45.050> he's<00:18:45.190> fantastic.

00:18:45.910 --> 00:18:47.530
He's<00:18:46.170> a<00:18:46.530> wonderful<00:18:46.630> man.

00:18:47.670 --> 00:18:49.060
Did<00:18:47.870> you<00:18:48.010> say<00:18:48.310> WWE?

00:18:49.210 --> 00:18:50.710
I<00:18:49.410> did.

00:18:50.710 --> 00:18:50.930
Yeah.

00:18:50.930 --> 00:18:51.500
What<00:18:50.931> was<00:18:51.010> that<00:18:51.150> like?

00:18:51.570 --> 00:18:52.490
Tell<00:18:51.610> me<00:18:51.710> what<00:18:51.930> you<00:18:52.010> did<00:18:52.210> there.

00:18:52.490 --> 00:18:53.430
That's<00:18:52.610> fascinating.

00:18:53.430 --> 00:19:01.990
I<00:18:53.570> do<00:18:53.750> sort<00:18:54.030> of<00:18:54.031> what<00:18:54.230> I<00:18:54.570> was<00:18:55.150> the,<00:18:55.670> you<00:18:55.850> know,<00:18:56.050> running<00:18:56.530> technology<00:18:57.470> and<00:18:57.950> for<00:18:58.690> the<00:18:58.930> WWE<00:18:59.710> basically<00:19:00.310> sort<00:19:00.550> of<00:19:00.630> the<00:19:00.730> chief<00:19:00.830> digital<00:19:01.170> officer,<00:19:01.650> a<00:19:01.770> little<00:19:01.790> bit<00:19:01.870> what<00:19:01.890> I<00:19:01.910> did<00:19:01.930> for<00:19:01.950> the<00:19:01.970> NFL.

00:19:03.753 --> 00:19:10.899
And<00:19:03.849> so<00:19:04.154> I<00:19:04.234> was<00:19:04.379> responsible<00:19:04.877> for<00:19:05.134> their<00:19:06.017> social<00:19:06.402> platform,<00:19:06.836> mobile<00:19:07.189> platform,<00:19:07.752> and<00:19:08.233> the<00:19:08.330> really<00:19:08.490> big<00:19:08.667> thing<00:19:08.876> we<00:19:08.956> did<00:19:09.133> there<00:19:09.374> was<00:19:09.599> launch<00:19:09.855> the<00:19:09.936> WWE<00:19:10.498> Network.

00:19:11.140 --> 00:19:18.737
So<00:19:12.409> that<00:19:12.586> was<00:19:13.212> back<00:19:13.469> in<00:19:14.513> 2012<00:19:15.461> where<00:19:15.798> we<00:19:16.585> pushed<00:19:16.906> over<00:19:17.099> the<00:19:17.227> top,<00:19:17.581> as<00:19:17.725> it<00:19:17.789> was<00:19:17.950> called<00:19:18.143> back<00:19:18.448> then.

00:19:19.090 --> 00:19:27.843
Now<00:19:19.315> everybody's<00:19:19.717> streaming<00:19:19.974> platforms<00:19:20.600> are<00:19:20.712> sort<00:19:20.841> of<00:19:20.937> dominant,<00:19:21.483> but<00:19:22.463> we<00:19:22.607> launched<00:19:22.945> the<00:19:23.025> WWE<00:19:23.507> Network<00:19:24.133> on<00:19:24.390> like<00:19:24.567> 7<00:19:24.872> platforms<00:19:25.836> and<00:19:26.301> it<00:19:26.382> was<00:19:27.120> very<00:19:27.297> successful.

00:19:27.907 --> 00:19:36.160
So<00:19:28.068> we<00:19:28.164> were<00:19:28.229> able<00:19:28.405> to<00:19:28.486> stream<00:19:28.871> WrestleMania<00:19:29.530> and<00:19:30.397> It<00:19:30.477> was<00:19:30.637> fantastic<00:19:32.098> experience<00:19:32.596> because<00:19:32.821> it's<00:19:35.004> a<00:19:35.068> high-velocity<00:19:35.855> business.

00:19:36.594 --> 00:19:43.657
They<00:19:37.380> do<00:19:37.541> live<00:19:37.733> events<00:19:38.103> every<00:19:38.215> single<00:19:38.520> week,<00:19:39.066> 50<00:19:39.307> weeks<00:19:39.483> a<00:19:39.628> year,<00:19:40.928> hundreds<00:19:41.329> and<00:19:41.458> hundreds<00:19:42.196> all<00:19:42.228> around<00:19:42.437> the<00:19:42.517> country<00:19:42.839> and<00:19:42.919> around<00:19:43.095> the<00:19:43.240> world.

00:19:43.770 --> 00:19:52.599
So,<00:19:44.637> it<00:19:45.166> was<00:19:45.423> quite<00:19:45.664> an<00:19:46.451> experience<00:19:47.269> and<00:19:47.494> very<00:19:47.831> much<00:19:48.297> unique<00:19:48.650> in<00:19:48.779> that<00:19:49.758> they<00:19:49.918> own<00:19:50.079> their<00:19:50.239> IP<00:19:50.785> completely<00:19:51.187> vertically<00:19:51.604> and<00:19:51.684> manage<00:19:52.021> it<00:19:52.166> really<00:19:52.407> well.

00:19:52.744 --> 00:20:01.505
So,<00:19:52.969> they<00:19:53.129> own<00:19:53.290> the<00:19:53.450> rights<00:19:53.852> to<00:19:53.996> everything,<00:19:54.574> they<00:19:55.521> manage<00:19:55.842> the<00:19:56.003> athletes,<00:19:56.581> they've<00:19:56.822> got<00:19:57.159> the<00:19:57.544> licenses<00:19:58.186> under<00:19:58.427> their<00:19:58.588> control<00:19:59.374> from<00:19:59.856> everything<00:20:00.099> from<00:20:00.261> merchandise<00:20:00.843> to<00:20:00.923> ticket<00:20:01.182> sales.

00:20:01.990 --> 00:20:04.609
So<00:20:02.200> it's<00:20:02.362> a<00:20:02.443> very<00:20:02.701> vertically<00:20:03.494> oriented,<00:20:03.898> organized<00:20:04.318> business.

00:20:04.722 --> 00:20:06.112
That<00:20:04.868> was<00:20:05.110> pretty<00:20:05.611> fascinating.

00:20:07.820 --> 00:20:09.271
Yeah,<00:20:07.900> that<00:20:08.078> is<00:20:08.320> fascinating.

00:20:09.368 --> 00:20:14.643
Yeah,<00:20:09.788> that<00:20:10.578> many<00:20:10.836> events<00:20:11.788> and<00:20:12.207> yeah,<00:20:12.466> the<00:20:12.595> amount<00:20:13.014> that<00:20:13.175> they<00:20:13.401> churn<00:20:13.659> out<00:20:14.046> is<00:20:14.288> crazy.

00:20:14.692 --> 00:20:16.095
That's<00:20:15.273> actually<00:20:15.837> wild.

00:20:16.797 --> 00:20:18.641
Yeah,<00:20:17.638> it's<00:20:17.865> quite<00:20:18.366> something.

00:20:19.806 --> 00:20:23.253
Tell<00:20:19.952> me<00:20:20.114> what<00:20:20.211> a<00:20:20.292> typical<00:20:20.696> day<00:20:20.858> looks<00:20:21.101> like<00:20:21.570> for<00:20:21.748> you<00:20:22.153> as<00:20:22.315> CEO<00:20:22.784> of<00:20:22.881> Fandom.

00:20:25.194 --> 00:20:32.430
Well,<00:20:25.341> you've<00:20:25.439> probably<00:20:26.159> heard<00:20:26.339> this<00:20:26.486> from<00:20:26.649> other<00:20:26.894> CEOs,<00:20:27.548> they're<00:20:27.712> sort<00:20:27.892> of<00:20:28.399> not<00:20:28.775> terribly<00:20:29.085> typical,<00:20:29.298> although<00:20:29.412> I<00:20:29.429> believe<00:20:29.543> in<00:20:29.609> a<00:20:29.625> fair<00:20:31.660> fair<00:20:31.708> amount<00:20:31.932> of<00:20:31.997> structure.

00:20:32.511 --> 00:20:35.786
So,<00:20:32.912> I'm<00:20:33.795> a<00:20:33.923> get<00:20:34.084> what<00:20:34.180> you<00:20:34.261> plan<00:20:34.823> for<00:20:35.288> kind<00:20:35.465> of<00:20:35.529> guy.

00:20:36.348 --> 00:20:39.688
So,<00:20:37.617> I'm<00:20:38.018> pretty<00:20:38.195> religious<00:20:38.612> about<00:20:39.013> schedules.

00:20:40.105 --> 00:20:49.402
And<00:20:40.282> so,<00:20:40.748> I<00:20:40.828> usually<00:20:41.229> run<00:20:41.486> things<00:20:41.807> on<00:20:41.968> a<00:20:42.048> kind<00:20:43.252> of<00:20:43.317> a<00:20:43.333> 6-month<00:20:43.975> clock<00:20:44.441> where<00:20:44.553> we've<00:20:44.762> got<00:20:45.821> 2<00:20:46.046> board<00:20:46.303> meetings,<00:20:46.929> you<00:20:46.994> have<00:20:47.732> QBRs,<00:20:48.374> quarterly<00:20:48.615> business<00:20:48.936> reviews.

00:20:50.076 --> 00:20:51.859
We<00:20:50.157> do<00:20:50.301> an<00:20:50.333> executive<00:20:51.040> monthly<00:20:51.425> review.

00:20:52.501 --> 00:21:01.183
I<00:20:52.549> have<00:20:52.645> a<00:20:52.710> weekly<00:20:52.983> staff<00:20:53.448> meeting,<00:20:55.279> one-on-ones<00:20:55.937> with<00:20:56.162> my<00:20:57.446> my<00:20:57.943> leadership<00:20:58.408> team,<00:20:58.889> plus<00:20:59.771> I'll<00:21:00.670> spend<00:21:00.974> time.

00:21:01.247 --> 00:21:08.881
I<00:21:01.279> have<00:21:01.471> a<00:21:01.856> whole<00:21:02.033> punch<00:21:02.337> list<00:21:02.594> of<00:21:03.476> external<00:21:04.358> partners<00:21:04.903> that<00:21:05.000> I<00:21:05.080> want<00:21:05.224> to<00:21:05.304> connect<00:21:05.705> with<00:21:05.962> and<00:21:06.122> get<00:21:06.299> smarter<00:21:06.667> about<00:21:07.084> and<00:21:07.165> our<00:21:07.389> board<00:21:07.565> members,<00:21:07.822> stakeholders<00:21:08.448> there.

00:21:09.971 --> 00:21:20.732
So<00:21:10.773> Mondays<00:21:11.334> is<00:21:11.671> sort<00:21:11.879> of<00:21:12.056> East<00:21:12.248> Staff<00:21:12.457> time<00:21:13.563> and<00:21:14.526> then<00:21:14.702> one-on-ones<00:21:15.343> plus<00:21:15.600> stakeholder<00:21:16.145> meetings<00:21:17.428> will<00:21:17.573> happen<00:21:18.070> during<00:21:18.294> the<00:21:18.390> week<00:21:18.631> and<00:21:18.711> then<00:21:19.657> got<00:21:19.738> to<00:21:19.818> roll<00:21:19.978> travel<00:21:20.395> into<00:21:20.555> that.

00:21:20.796 --> 00:21:26.907
So<00:21:20.940> I<00:21:20.972> spend<00:21:21.277> time<00:21:22.400> on<00:21:22.496> the<00:21:22.624> road,<00:21:23.843> going<00:21:24.084> to<00:21:24.228> events,<00:21:25.063> meeting<00:21:25.351> with<00:21:25.399> stakeholders,<00:21:26.057> help<00:21:26.170> drive<00:21:26.410> the<00:21:26.506> business.

00:21:26.972 --> 00:21:33.998
We're<00:21:28.239> blessed<00:21:28.576> in<00:21:28.656> that<00:21:28.817> we<00:21:28.897> have<00:21:29.057> a<00:21:29.137> very<00:21:29.522> kind<00:21:30.004> of<00:21:30.325> broad<00:21:30.661> business<00:21:31.223> that's<00:21:31.544> really<00:21:31.768> efficient<00:21:32.587> and<00:21:32.747> mostly<00:21:33.148> remote<00:21:33.533> first.

00:21:35.057 --> 00:21:42.950
But<00:21:35.153> we<00:21:35.298> have<00:21:35.779> offices<00:21:36.196> in<00:21:37.159> San<00:21:37.271> Francisco,<00:21:37.784> LA,<00:21:38.041> New<00:21:38.186> York,<00:21:39.405> 2<00:21:39.645> in<00:21:39.726> the<00:21:39.806> UK,<00:21:40.367> and<00:21:40.464> a<00:21:40.608> big<00:21:41.410> tech<00:21:41.635> center<00:21:41.972> in<00:21:42.132> Poznań,<00:21:42.533> Poland.

00:21:44.153 --> 00:22:00.231
So<00:21:46.624> a<00:21:46.704> day<00:21:46.945> for<00:21:47.089> me<00:21:47.330> will<00:21:47.426> be<00:21:47.587> some<00:21:47.907> blend<00:21:48.453> of<00:21:49.576> operations,<00:21:50.506> strategy,<00:21:51.341> again,<00:21:51.517> that<00:21:51.678> external<00:21:52.079> stakeholder<00:21:52.704> work,<00:21:53.775> business<00:21:54.098> development,<00:21:54.988> trying<00:21:55.166> to<00:21:55.231> make<00:21:55.312> sure<00:21:55.393> we<00:21:55.538> drive<00:21:55.797> growth<00:21:56.606> and<00:21:56.752> look<00:21:56.930> ahead,<00:21:57.351> and<00:21:57.480> then<00:21:57.723> the<00:21:58.856> operational<00:21:59.438> day-to-day<00:21:59.859> stuff.

00:22:00.409 --> 00:22:12.974
I'm<00:22:00.975> a<00:22:01.056> bit<00:22:01.218> of<00:22:01.283> a<00:22:01.299> data<00:22:01.623> nerd,<00:22:02.189> so<00:22:02.416> as<00:22:02.513> you<00:22:02.658> can<00:22:02.934> probably<00:22:03.176> hear<00:22:03.290> me<00:22:03.402> talking<00:22:03.644> about<00:22:03.869> AI,<00:22:04.836> I<00:22:05.174> tend<00:22:05.576> to<00:22:05.721> keep<00:22:05.915> an<00:22:06.043> eye<00:22:07.267> on<00:22:07.332> the<00:22:07.429> core<00:22:07.654> business<00:22:08.073> and<00:22:08.218> see<00:22:08.459> what's<00:22:08.862> moving<00:22:09.200> in<00:22:09.281> what<00:22:09.426> direction,<00:22:10.166> ideally<00:22:11.439> more<00:22:11.600> up<00:22:11.777> and<00:22:11.841> to<00:22:11.938> the<00:22:12.018> right<00:22:12.341> than<00:22:12.470> anything<00:22:12.755> else.

00:22:14.423 --> 00:22:18.839
How<00:22:14.584> do<00:22:14.649> you<00:22:14.746> think<00:22:15.134> AI<00:22:15.701> will<00:22:17.156> transform<00:22:17.965> web<00:22:18.531> traffic?

00:22:19.397 --> 00:22:20.031
And<00:22:19.592> search?

00:22:20.112 --> 00:22:22.713
Because<00:22:20.291> you<00:22:20.389> get,<00:22:20.714> did<00:22:20.795> you<00:22:20.876> say<00:22:21.120> 300<00:22:21.510> million<00:22:22.242> views<00:22:22.437> a<00:22:22.502> month?

00:22:23.087 --> 00:22:23.981
I<00:22:23.152> mean,<00:22:23.396> that's<00:22:23.624> a<00:22:23.786> lot.

00:22:24.046 --> 00:22:25.461
Like,<00:22:24.225> how<00:22:24.388> are<00:22:24.518> you<00:22:24.615> thinking<00:22:24.924> about<00:22:25.331> that?

00:22:26.100 --> 00:22:28.225
Like,<00:22:26.277> what<00:22:26.518> happens<00:22:27.082> if<00:22:27.259> that<00:22:27.661> goes<00:22:28.048> away?

00:22:29.271 --> 00:22:36.107
And<00:22:29.320> I'm<00:22:29.432> not<00:22:29.529> saying<00:22:29.754> that<00:22:29.899> it<00:22:29.980> will<00:22:30.173> or<00:22:30.318> won't,<00:22:30.624> but<00:22:30.881> you<00:22:30.962> must<00:22:31.203> be<00:22:31.284> thinking<00:22:31.622> about<00:22:32.975> how<00:22:33.216> AI<00:22:33.458> is<00:22:33.538> going<00:22:33.683> to<00:22:33.763> change<00:22:34.085> search<00:22:34.826> engine<00:22:35.132> optimization<00:22:35.679> and<00:22:35.876> all<00:22:36.025> that.

00:22:37.031 --> 00:22:37.393
We<00:22:37.179> do.

00:22:37.756 --> 00:22:38.910
I<00:22:37.789> spend<00:22:38.020> a<00:22:38.086> lot<00:22:38.267> of<00:22:38.350> time<00:22:38.613> on<00:22:38.696> that.

00:22:40.397 --> 00:22:45.947
And,<00:22:41.201> you<00:22:41.233> know,<00:22:41.298> I<00:22:41.378> think<00:22:42.167> the<00:22:42.424> benefit<00:22:42.971> of<00:22:43.132> what<00:22:43.309> we<00:22:43.470> do<00:22:43.791> is,<00:22:44.741> has<00:22:44.918> sort<00:22:44.998> of<00:22:45.143> two<00:22:45.320> legs<00:22:45.706> to<00:22:45.883> it.

00:22:46.124 --> 00:22:50.129
You<00:22:46.269> know,<00:22:46.510> one<00:22:46.703> on<00:22:46.832> that<00:22:47.009> core<00:22:47.866> 45<00:22:48.363> million<00:22:48.588> pages<00:22:48.861> of<00:22:48.925> content<00:22:49.664> stuff.

00:22:50.852 --> 00:22:57.530
If<00:22:50.996> you<00:22:51.093> ever<00:22:51.317> come<00:22:51.574> to<00:22:51.654> one<00:22:51.815> of<00:22:51.879> our<00:22:51.976> wikis,<00:22:52.441> you<00:22:52.473> go<00:22:52.553> to<00:22:52.634> Wikipedia<00:22:53.661> or<00:22:53.741> you<00:22:53.822> go<00:22:53.902> to<00:22:53.982> Minecraft,<00:22:54.608> I<00:22:54.624> mean,<00:22:55.684> it's<00:22:55.973> so<00:22:56.294> rich<00:22:56.567> and<00:22:56.711> so<00:22:57.113> deep.

00:22:57.835 --> 00:23:13.038
And<00:22:57.915> a<00:22:57.980> lot<00:22:58.172> of<00:22:58.236> people<00:22:58.541> come<00:22:59.505> with<00:23:00.099> a<00:23:00.163> solution<00:23:00.644> they're<00:23:00.789> trying<00:23:00.966> to—<00:23:01.046> they'll<00:23:01.447> Google<00:23:01.704> something<00:23:02.234> for<00:23:02.314> an<00:23:02.475> answer,<00:23:02.892> but<00:23:03.117> they<00:23:04.562> want<00:23:04.883> to<00:23:04.963> sort<00:23:05.139> of<00:23:05.284> get<00:23:05.541> the<00:23:05.701> richness<00:23:06.970> and<00:23:07.130> the<00:23:07.291> quality<00:23:08.286> of<00:23:08.495> it<00:23:08.896> and<00:23:09.008> explore<00:23:09.554> a<00:23:09.634> bit<00:23:09.859> because<00:23:10.437> they,<00:23:10.822> you<00:23:10.855> know,<00:23:11.721> it's<00:23:11.866> not<00:23:12.026> exactly<00:23:12.588> perfect.

00:23:13.086 --> 00:23:18.941
And<00:23:13.552> I<00:23:13.648> spent<00:23:13.873> a<00:23:13.889> lot<00:23:14.033> of<00:23:14.129> time<00:23:14.370> in<00:23:15.092> the<00:23:15.188> various<00:23:15.477> models<00:23:15.814> today<00:23:16.215> and<00:23:16.535> they're<00:23:16.696> trying<00:23:16.920> to<00:23:17.000> come<00:23:17.161> up<00:23:17.193> with<00:23:17.273> a<00:23:17.353> more<00:23:17.578> and<00:23:17.658> more<00:23:17.882> precise<00:23:18.524> answer.

00:23:20.063 --> 00:23:32.619
But,<00:23:20.384> in<00:23:20.464> the<00:23:20.544> cases<00:23:20.945> we<00:23:21.170> work<00:23:21.362> in<00:23:21.490> these<00:23:21.586> imagined<00:23:22.068> worlds,<00:23:22.597> I<00:23:22.629> mean,<00:23:23.094> we're<00:23:23.334> not<00:23:23.511> talking<00:23:23.831> about<00:23:24.794> formulating<00:23:25.916> a<00:23:25.932> new<00:23:26.317> vaccine<00:23:26.782> here,<00:23:27.503> we're<00:23:27.616> talking<00:23:27.984> about<00:23:28.722> figuring<00:23:29.428> out<00:23:30.326> what's<00:23:30.566> going<00:23:30.871> on<00:23:30.967> with<00:23:31.127> Captain<00:23:31.528> Kirk<00:23:31.849> in<00:23:31.929> this<00:23:32.154> episode.

00:23:33.388 --> 00:23:41.518
So,<00:23:34.094> it's<00:23:34.751> not<00:23:35.072> something—<00:23:36.162> people<00:23:36.323> want<00:23:36.483> to<00:23:36.563> come<00:23:36.820> and<00:23:36.884> kind<00:23:37.141> of<00:23:37.381> as<00:23:37.541> part<00:23:37.846> of<00:23:37.942> their<00:23:38.343> entertainment<00:23:38.840> enjoyment,<00:23:39.450> do<00:23:39.546> a<00:23:39.562> little<00:23:39.786> exploring,<00:23:40.444> knock<00:23:40.748> around<00:23:41.133> a<00:23:41.149> little<00:23:41.310> bit.

00:23:41.566 --> 00:23:49.582
So,<00:23:42.352> So<00:23:42.529> far,<00:23:44.505> Google's<00:23:44.907> actually<00:23:45.228> ranking<00:23:45.549> us<00:23:45.662> a<00:23:45.726> little<00:23:45.871> bit<00:23:46.031> higher<00:23:46.529> because<00:23:46.931> they<00:23:47.091> recognize<00:23:47.573> that<00:23:47.654> people<00:23:47.959> do<00:23:48.200> want<00:23:48.457> that<00:23:48.698> connective<00:23:49.180> tissue.

00:23:50.626 --> 00:24:03.494
And<00:23:51.108> so<00:23:51.365> far,<00:23:51.734> the<00:23:51.815> way<00:23:51.991> the<00:23:53.020> AIs<00:23:53.357> are<00:23:53.437> working<00:23:53.823> is<00:23:53.919> they're<00:23:54.240> kind<00:23:54.401> of<00:23:54.481> working<00:23:54.738> to<00:23:54.803> get<00:23:55.028> more<00:23:55.204> and<00:23:55.285> more<00:23:55.445> precise<00:23:55.943> about<00:23:56.249> more<00:23:56.409> and<00:23:56.506> more<00:23:56.714> transactional<00:23:57.534> questions<00:23:58.899> or<00:23:59.044> doing<00:23:59.285> work<00:23:59.526> for<00:23:59.622> you,<00:24:00.361> saying,<00:24:00.731> hey,<00:24:01.068> I've<00:24:01.213> got<00:24:01.454> a—<00:24:02.032> and<00:24:02.112> I<00:24:02.257> use<00:24:02.434> it<00:24:02.980> all<00:24:03.076> the<00:24:03.157> time.

00:24:03.542 --> 00:24:05.856
So<00:24:03.639> I<00:24:03.687> was<00:24:03.863> like,<00:24:04.024> hey,<00:24:04.201> I've<00:24:04.345> got<00:24:04.586> this<00:24:04.763> thesis<00:24:05.309> for<00:24:05.422> this<00:24:05.631> thing.

00:24:05.968 --> 00:24:15.828
Please<00:24:06.370> pull<00:24:06.611> in<00:24:06.691> this<00:24:06.916> spreadsheet<00:24:07.478> and<00:24:07.574> analyze<00:24:08.137> this<00:24:08.297> data<00:24:08.603> and<00:24:08.779> give<00:24:08.940> me<00:24:09.020> a<00:24:09.502> trending<00:24:09.823> forecast<00:24:10.466> with<00:24:11.252> plus<00:24:11.509> or<00:24:11.557> minus<00:24:11.895> 5%<00:24:12.473> variance<00:24:13.420> over<00:24:14.399> the<00:24:14.560> next<00:24:15.122> 36<00:24:15.604> months.

00:24:16.390 --> 00:24:21.753
And<00:24:16.888> it'll<00:24:17.193> give<00:24:17.370> me<00:24:17.466> that<00:24:17.691> analysis<00:24:18.638> and<00:24:18.879> point<00:24:19.136> me<00:24:19.216> in<00:24:19.618> the—<00:24:19.778> amazing<00:24:21.224> utility.

00:24:22.653 --> 00:24:32.672
But<00:24:22.749> again,<00:24:22.974> if<00:24:23.134> I'm<00:24:24.917> trying<00:24:25.157> to<00:24:25.238> get<00:24:25.382> through<00:24:25.559> Skyrim<00:24:26.217> and<00:24:26.297> I'm<00:24:26.586> lost<00:24:26.940> again,<00:24:28.144> I'm<00:24:28.690> just<00:24:28.850> going<00:24:28.963> to<00:24:29.075> kind<00:24:29.155> of<00:24:29.268> figure<00:24:29.589> out—<00:24:29.717> I<00:24:29.734> really<00:24:29.974> don't<00:24:30.279> know<00:24:30.440> where<00:24:30.552> I<00:24:30.697> am,<00:24:31.098> so<00:24:31.179> I<00:24:31.195> don't<00:24:31.323> really<00:24:31.419> know<00:24:31.660> how<00:24:31.757> to<00:24:31.885> ask<00:24:32.078> a<00:24:32.142> good<00:24:32.367> question.

00:24:32.720 --> 00:24:35.931
So<00:24:32.800> I'm<00:24:32.881> going<00:24:32.961> to<00:24:33.089> come<00:24:33.346> to<00:24:34.053> Fandom<00:24:34.470> and<00:24:35.016> kind<00:24:35.112> of<00:24:35.177> explore<00:24:35.514> a<00:24:35.578> little<00:24:35.755> bit.

00:24:35.995 --> 00:24:43.445
So<00:24:36.718> I<00:24:36.798> think<00:24:36.959> that's<00:24:37.264> what's<00:24:37.440> distinct<00:24:38.018> about<00:24:38.789> what<00:24:38.885> we<00:24:39.046> do<00:24:39.207> in<00:24:39.287> these<00:24:39.672> weird<00:24:39.865> imagined<00:24:40.250> worlds<00:24:40.652> and,<00:24:41.117> and<00:24:41.294> versus<00:24:41.615> what<00:24:41.920> you're<00:24:42.097> going<00:24:42.209> to<00:24:42.337> get,<00:24:42.642> I<00:24:42.658> think,<00:24:42.899> with<00:24:43.060> an<00:24:43.204> AI.

00:24:43.638 --> 00:24:51.425
Now,<00:24:43.959> of<00:24:44.168> course,<00:24:44.665> like,<00:24:44.906> that<00:24:45.003> may<00:24:45.227> change<00:24:45.565> over<00:24:45.709> time<00:24:46.094> and,<00:24:47.058> uh,<00:24:47.620> surface<00:24:47.957> the<00:24:48.037> content,<00:24:48.358> but<00:24:48.503> ideally<00:24:48.920> we're<00:24:49.081> going<00:24:49.161> to<00:24:49.225> be<00:24:49.338> ones<00:24:49.707> who<00:24:49.803> will<00:24:49.964> be<00:24:50.188> creating<00:24:50.542> some<00:24:50.702> of<00:24:50.783> this<00:24:50.927> utility.

00:24:51.489 --> 00:24:56.562
So,<00:24:52.436> you<00:24:52.468> know,<00:24:52.677> game<00:24:52.918> utility—<00:24:53.239> you're<00:24:53.319> playing<00:24:53.512> a<00:24:53.576> video<00:24:53.897> game<00:24:54.234> and<00:24:54.315> you're<00:24:54.556> stuck<00:24:55.423> right<00:24:55.583> now,<00:24:55.728> you<00:24:55.888> come<00:24:56.065> to<00:24:56.145> Fandom.

00:24:56.627 --> 00:25:04.605
Well,<00:24:57.574> what<00:24:57.686> if<00:24:57.815> there's<00:24:57.991> a<00:24:58.007> native<00:24:58.377> application<00:24:58.939> on<00:24:59.019> your<00:24:59.115> desktop<00:24:59.677> that<00:24:59.774> you<00:24:59.838> just<00:25:00.063> had<00:25:00.159> to<00:25:00.239> say,<00:25:00.464> hey,<00:25:00.721> I<00:25:01.106> can't<00:25:01.427> get<00:25:01.588> around<00:25:01.845> this<00:25:02.069> wizard,<00:25:02.471> I've<00:25:02.567> been<00:25:02.664> here<00:25:02.824> for<00:25:02.953> 10<00:25:03.193> minutes,<00:25:03.531> like<00:25:03.820> I'm<00:25:04.092> dying<00:25:04.477> here.

00:25:05.439 --> 00:25:06.016
What<00:25:05.487> do<00:25:05.615> I<00:25:05.760> do?

00:25:06.802 --> 00:25:08.037
And<00:25:06.882> we'll<00:25:06.979> be<00:25:07.011> able<00:25:07.139> to<00:25:07.219> say,<00:25:07.524> hey,<00:25:07.636> you<00:25:07.700> know<00:25:07.860> what?

00:25:08.101 --> 00:25:11.950
You<00:25:08.181> missed<00:25:08.742> going<00:25:08.887> and<00:25:09.063> get<00:25:09.929> the<00:25:09.961> strength<00:25:10.490> coin<00:25:10.907> back<00:25:11.164> in<00:25:11.228> that<00:25:11.388> closet.

00:25:12.816 --> 00:25:15.077
And<00:25:13.377> that<00:25:13.569> strength<00:25:13.954> coin<00:25:14.211> will<00:25:14.339> let<00:25:14.499> you<00:25:14.579> beat<00:25:14.740> the<00:25:14.820> wizard.

00:25:15.477 --> 00:25:18.989
So,<00:25:15.622> that<00:25:15.782> kind<00:25:15.959> of<00:25:15.991> stuff<00:25:16.359> will,<00:25:17.161> I<00:25:17.241> think,<00:25:17.803> will<00:25:17.947> hopefully<00:25:18.284> be<00:25:18.364> helpful<00:25:18.749> with.

00:25:19.310 --> 00:25:22.629
And<00:25:19.567> that's<00:25:19.887> probably<00:25:20.064> not<00:25:20.272> something<00:25:20.513> that<00:25:21.234> Sam<00:25:21.475> Altman's<00:25:21.796> focused<00:25:22.196> on<00:25:22.373> right<00:25:22.565> now.

00:25:23.399 --> 00:25:26.590
And<00:25:24.057> something<00:25:24.297> probably<00:25:24.618> we<00:25:24.762> can<00:25:25.724> make<00:25:25.901> a<00:25:25.981> difference<00:25:26.446> on.

00:25:27.905 --> 00:25:28.515
What<00:25:28.001> do<00:25:28.066> you<00:25:28.226> read?

00:25:28.787 --> 00:25:30.519
What<00:25:29.012> reading<00:25:29.252> recommendations<00:25:29.894> would<00:25:29.990> you<00:25:30.070> have<00:25:30.230> for<00:25:30.391> us?

00:25:31.900 --> 00:25:36.957
I<00:25:31.980> read,<00:25:33.746> on<00:25:33.842> the<00:25:34.083> blog<00:25:34.420> side<00:25:34.790> for<00:25:34.886> the<00:25:35.111> AI<00:25:35.609> stuff,<00:25:35.833> I<00:25:35.914> would<00:25:36.074> read<00:25:36.395> Ethan<00:25:36.588> Mollick.

00:25:37.278 --> 00:25:39.382
So<00:25:38.097> I<00:25:38.242> read<00:25:38.402> him<00:25:38.659> pretty<00:25:38.900> regularly.

00:25:39.478 --> 00:25:41.116
This<00:25:39.783> one<00:25:39.944> just<00:25:40.104> came<00:25:40.345> out,<00:25:40.410> it's<00:25:40.650> quite<00:25:40.827> good.

00:25:42.352 --> 00:25:44.873
And<00:25:42.497> then,<00:25:43.316> I<00:25:43.396> read<00:25:43.621> different<00:25:44.343> business<00:25:44.600> books.

00:25:44.986 --> 00:25:55.310
So<00:25:46.672> I'm<00:25:47.073> reading<00:25:47.314> right<00:25:47.426> now,<00:25:47.587> it's<00:25:47.731> on<00:25:47.763> my<00:25:47.892> desk<00:25:48.133> called<00:25:48.277> "Hope<00:25:48.454> for<00:25:48.614> Change"<00:25:49.016> actually,<00:25:49.257> which<00:25:49.433> is<00:25:49.642> a<00:25:50.300> Stanford<00:25:50.638> neuroscientist<00:25:51.970> writing<00:25:52.227> about<00:25:53.014> the<00:25:53.094> difference<00:25:53.415> between<00:25:53.656> cynicism<00:25:54.234> and<00:25:54.395> pessimism.

00:25:57.580 --> 00:25:59.661
And<00:25:58.548> I<00:25:58.629> then<00:25:58.806> read<00:25:58.967> other<00:25:59.193> business<00:25:59.532> books.

00:25:59.709 --> 00:26:04.354
I've<00:25:59.838> got<00:26:01.306> Nassim<00:26:01.548> Taleb's<00:26:02.032> "Antifragile,"<00:26:02.919> which<00:26:03.322> I<00:26:03.387> think<00:26:03.483> is<00:26:03.564> a<00:26:03.645> really<00:26:03.887> good<00:26:04.112> book.

00:26:05.846 --> 00:26:28.076
And<00:26:05.927> then<00:26:06.088> for<00:26:06.169> management,<00:26:07.492> one<00:26:08.105> of<00:26:08.138> my<00:26:08.283> favorite<00:26:08.589> books<00:26:08.848> is<00:26:09.009> "The<00:26:09.961> Courage<00:26:10.235> to<00:26:10.364> Be<00:26:11.804> Disliked."<00:26:12.512> It's<00:26:12.737> a<00:26:12.753> sort<00:26:12.979> of<00:26:13.059> interview<00:26:14.121> set<00:26:14.411> in<00:26:14.443> a<00:26:14.749> sort<00:26:14.894> of<00:26:14.926> a<00:26:15.135> Japanese<00:26:15.634> temple<00:26:15.956> between<00:26:16.213> a<00:26:16.278> student<00:26:16.664> and<00:26:16.728> a<00:26:16.760> master,<00:26:17.163> and<00:26:17.259> it<00:26:18.048> sort<00:26:18.144> of<00:26:18.225> talks<00:26:18.611> about<00:26:19.979> ego<00:26:21.127> and<00:26:21.229> sort<00:26:21.467> of<00:26:22.378> conviction<00:26:23.430> and<00:26:24.029> knowing<00:26:24.563> where<00:26:25.777> you<00:26:25.939> are<00:26:26.182> from<00:26:26.295> a<00:26:26.360> self-awareness<00:26:27.040> standpoint<00:26:27.493> and<00:26:27.558> how<00:26:27.590> to<00:26:27.719> operate.

00:26:28.642 --> 00:27:00.645
So<00:26:29.014> I<00:26:29.985> range<00:26:30.325> between<00:26:31.377> super<00:26:31.750> nerdy<00:26:32.023> tech<00:26:32.264> stuff<00:26:33.469> to<00:26:34.915> business<00:26:35.557> planning<00:26:36.023> things<00:26:36.441> that<00:26:36.601> are<00:26:36.714> like,<00:26:37.067> okay,<00:26:37.389> what<00:26:37.517> did<00:26:37.630> this<00:26:37.790> person<00:26:38.112> learn<00:26:38.369> about<00:26:38.674> strategy<00:26:39.252> that<00:26:39.413> I<00:26:39.493> could<00:26:39.654> learn<00:26:39.879> from,<00:26:40.297> to<00:26:40.682> a<00:26:41.470> lot<00:26:41.598> of<00:26:41.727> actually<00:26:41.919> psychology<00:26:42.530> books<00:26:43.349> because<00:26:43.751> I<00:26:43.831> think<00:26:44.635> being<00:26:44.876> a<00:26:44.892> CEO<00:26:45.374> is<00:26:45.502> actually<00:26:45.743> a<00:26:45.823> lot<00:26:46.016> about<00:26:46.305> understanding<00:26:47.044> human<00:26:47.285> behavior<00:26:49.695> and<00:26:49.840> how<00:26:49.936> to<00:26:50.242> operate<00:26:50.595> in<00:26:50.740> the<00:26:51.559> this<00:26:51.688> sort<00:26:51.818> of<00:26:53.192> dynamic<00:26:53.774> of<00:26:54.631> different<00:26:54.873> personalities<00:26:55.698> and<00:26:56.102> getting<00:26:56.426> people<00:26:56.749> to<00:26:57.137> align<00:26:58.123> with<00:26:58.447> diversity<00:26:59.401> and<00:26:59.562> get<00:26:59.724> the<00:26:59.805> best<00:27:00.290> outcomes.

00:27:00.710 --> 00:27:03.064
I<00:27:00.726> think<00:27:00.840> that<00:27:00.954> kind<00:27:01.118> of<00:27:01.952> psychology<00:27:02.426> is<00:27:02.492> really<00:27:02.655> important.

00:27:04.619 --> 00:27:11.296
On<00:27:04.781> that,<00:27:05.105> I<00:27:05.186> wonder<00:27:05.688> what<00:27:05.915> you've<00:27:06.158> learned<00:27:06.418> over<00:27:06.645> the<00:27:06.807> years<00:27:07.082> as<00:27:07.228> a<00:27:07.390> leader,<00:27:08.444> some<00:27:08.622> of<00:27:08.687> the<00:27:08.849> traits<00:27:09.335> or<00:27:09.400> some<00:27:09.562> of<00:27:09.594> the<00:27:09.805> things<00:27:10.210> that<00:27:10.388> make<00:27:10.648> a<00:27:10.777> great<00:27:11.118> leader.

00:27:11.837 --> 00:27:16.718
How<00:27:11.919> have<00:27:12.082> you<00:27:12.180> thought<00:27:12.507> about<00:27:12.752> that<00:27:12.915> and<00:27:13.062> what<00:27:13.160> have<00:27:13.257> you<00:27:13.470> learned<00:27:14.057> that<00:27:14.204> maybe<00:27:14.531> you<00:27:14.694> didn't<00:27:15.020> realize<00:27:15.934> early<00:27:16.179> on<00:27:16.342> in<00:27:16.424> your<00:27:16.587> career?

00:27:18.196 --> 00:27:23.669
I,<00:27:18.661> I<00:27:18.757> didn't<00:27:19.191> realize—<00:27:19.961> I<00:27:19.977> mean,<00:27:20.748> I<00:27:20.764> think<00:27:21.165> I<00:27:21.229> didn't<00:27:21.358> realize<00:27:21.631> how<00:27:21.711> important<00:27:22.128> curiosity<00:27:23.557> is.

00:27:24.456 --> 00:27:28.003
I<00:27:24.520> think,<00:27:25.483> um,<00:27:26.318> I'm<00:27:26.462> a<00:27:26.478> naturally<00:27:27.008> very<00:27:27.329> curious<00:27:27.682> person.

00:27:28.068 --> 00:27:34.087
I've,<00:27:28.373> you<00:27:28.405> know,<00:27:28.469> I've<00:27:28.629> gone<00:27:28.854> through<00:27:29.352> a<00:27:29.432> battery<00:27:29.833> of<00:27:29.914> exams<00:27:30.395> and<00:27:31.101> various<00:27:31.358> times<00:27:31.679> in<00:27:31.711> my<00:27:31.904> career,<00:27:32.225> and<00:27:32.386> one<00:27:32.466> of<00:27:32.498> the<00:27:32.546> things<00:27:32.707> that<00:27:32.883> jumps<00:27:33.188> out<00:27:33.349> is<00:27:33.381> I'm<00:27:33.525> a<00:27:33.670> learner.

00:27:34.183 --> 00:27:35.115
I'm<00:27:34.328> really<00:27:34.569> curious.

00:27:35.708 --> 00:27:46.413
So<00:27:35.837> I<00:27:35.853> think<00:27:35.949> for<00:27:36.174> a<00:27:36.238> leader,<00:27:37.362> you<00:27:37.394> have<00:27:37.554> to<00:27:37.619> be<00:27:37.715> sort<00:27:37.908> of<00:27:37.940> naturally<00:27:38.566> curious<00:27:39.224> because<00:27:39.545> you<00:27:39.705> want<00:27:39.914> to<00:27:40.267> know<00:27:40.572> how<00:27:40.733> things<00:27:41.054> work<00:27:41.455> and<00:27:42.354> what<00:27:42.579> you<00:27:42.675> can<00:27:42.820> do<00:27:42.916> to<00:27:42.996> make<00:27:43.157> them<00:27:43.317> better<00:27:43.542> potentially,<00:27:44.040> or<00:27:44.184> where<00:27:44.925> you<00:27:45.005> may<00:27:45.103> not<00:27:45.733> know<00:27:45.992> the<00:27:46.219> answer.

00:27:47.902 --> 00:27:49.989
And<00:27:48.015> so,<00:27:48.727> that<00:27:48.888> curiosity<00:27:49.455> is<00:27:49.487> really<00:27:49.681> important.

00:27:51.704 --> 00:27:55.465
I<00:27:51.769> think<00:27:51.933> the<00:27:52.096> other<00:27:52.276> thing<00:27:52.669> that's<00:27:53.503> pretty<00:27:53.732> important<00:27:54.468> is<00:27:54.958> humility.

00:27:56.810 --> 00:28:13.818
So,<00:27:57.019> it<00:27:57.084> kind<00:27:57.229> of<00:27:57.310> goes<00:27:57.568> hand<00:27:57.810> in<00:27:57.875> hand<00:27:57.988> a<00:27:58.004> little<00:27:58.101> bit<00:27:58.197> with<00:27:58.294> the<00:27:58.375> curiosity,<00:27:59.037> so<00:27:59.198> knowing<00:27:59.505> what<00:27:59.666> you<00:27:59.747> don't<00:28:00.150> know<00:28:01.587> and<00:28:01.748> making<00:28:02.022> sure<00:28:02.410> you<00:28:02.797> understand<00:28:03.297> that<00:28:04.508> you're<00:28:04.831> playing<00:28:05.073> a<00:28:05.137> role<00:28:05.395> even<00:28:05.573> as<00:28:05.654> CEO<00:28:06.677> and<00:28:06.938> you<00:28:07.020> don't<00:28:07.248> have<00:28:07.493> all<00:28:07.591> the<00:28:07.754> answers<00:28:08.309> and<00:28:09.957> being<00:28:10.510> Being<00:28:10.622> humble<00:28:11.010> in<00:28:11.090> that<00:28:11.349> position<00:28:12.236> is<00:28:12.382> really,<00:28:13.043> I<00:28:13.059> think,<00:28:13.366> critical.

00:28:14.722 --> 00:28:27.839
And<00:28:15.528> then<00:28:15.625> the<00:28:15.706> other<00:28:15.883> thing<00:28:16.174> for<00:28:16.303> me<00:28:16.513> that<00:28:18.127> was<00:28:18.272> really<00:28:18.433> important<00:28:18.740> to<00:28:18.772> learn<00:28:19.256> as<00:28:19.418> a<00:28:19.482> CEO<00:28:19.918> is<00:28:20.610> the<00:28:20.691> idea<00:28:21.093> of<00:28:21.914> being<00:28:22.140> a<00:28:22.236> servant<00:28:22.639> leader<00:28:23.524> force<00:28:23.766> multiplier,<00:28:24.474> which<00:28:26.100> is<00:28:27.211> n<00:28:27.614> 1.

00:28:28.419 --> 00:28:33.936
Again,<00:28:28.596> sorry<00:28:28.789> to<00:28:28.837> bring<00:28:28.998> so<00:28:29.143> much<00:28:29.320> math<00:28:29.562> in<00:28:29.626> here,<00:28:29.867> but<00:28:30.671> I<00:28:31.331> can<00:28:31.475> only<00:28:32.038> have<00:28:32.472> so<00:28:32.601> much<00:28:32.794> impact<00:28:33.196> on<00:28:33.277> a<00:28:33.341> single<00:28:33.646> basis.

00:28:33.984 --> 00:28:46.620
In<00:28:34.145> fact,<00:28:34.547> as<00:28:34.692> a<00:28:34.724> CEO,<00:28:35.190> what<00:28:35.351> a<00:28:35.415> lot<00:28:35.576> of<00:28:35.657> people<00:28:35.850> I<00:28:35.866> think<00:28:36.075> would<00:28:36.316> be<00:28:36.396> surprised<00:28:36.943> to<00:28:37.040> hear<00:28:38.157> is<00:28:38.254> that<00:28:38.414> actually<00:28:40.004> you<00:28:40.100> shouldn't<00:28:40.341> be<00:28:40.438> making<00:28:40.807> a<00:28:40.823> lot<00:28:41.064> of<00:28:41.144> decisions<00:28:42.734> because<00:28:43.136> if<00:28:43.296> everything's<00:28:43.714> coming<00:28:44.035> to<00:28:44.195> you,<00:28:45.239> it's<00:28:45.384> very<00:28:45.641> hard<00:28:45.801> to<00:28:45.946> operate<00:28:46.219> at<00:28:46.299> scale.

00:28:47.407 --> 00:29:00.977
In<00:28:47.552> fact,<00:28:48.114> I<00:28:48.194> think<00:28:48.371> a<00:28:48.435> CEO's<00:28:48.917> job<00:28:49.270> is<00:28:49.479> to<00:28:50.201> push<00:28:50.378> decision-making<00:28:51.261> down<00:28:52.723> as<00:28:52.867> far<00:28:53.188> to<00:28:53.253> the<00:28:53.349> organization<00:28:53.911> as<00:28:53.991> possible<00:28:54.537> because<00:28:55.115> with,<00:28:55.501> again,<00:28:55.838> expectations<00:28:56.577> of<00:28:56.962> quality,<00:28:57.524> innovation,<00:28:58.729> and<00:28:58.873> outcome,<00:29:00.094> we<00:29:00.190> have<00:29:00.335> to<00:29:00.431> perform.

00:29:02.181 --> 00:29:07.561
But<00:29:02.438> the<00:29:02.567> more<00:29:03.129> singular<00:29:03.643> decisions<00:29:04.349> a<00:29:04.365> CEO<00:29:04.831> is<00:29:04.976> making,<00:29:05.538> I<00:29:05.634> think<00:29:06.019> the<00:29:06.084> slower<00:29:06.437> the<00:29:06.598> organization<00:29:07.224> will<00:29:07.320> go.

00:29:08.908 --> 00:29:20.159
And<00:29:09.084> I<00:29:09.164> think<00:29:09.469> you,<00:29:09.725> I<00:29:09.805> think<00:29:10.046> to<00:29:10.142> scale,<00:29:10.751> you<00:29:10.815> have<00:29:10.943> to<00:29:11.152> really<00:29:11.488> be,<00:29:12.514> again,<00:29:13.091> humble<00:29:13.572> enough<00:29:13.892> to<00:29:13.956> understand<00:29:14.373> that,<00:29:14.678> you<00:29:14.774> know,<00:29:15.094> you're<00:29:15.415> probably<00:29:15.671> not<00:29:15.848> going<00:29:15.960> to<00:29:15.992> make<00:29:16.152> a<00:29:16.216> good<00:29:16.377> decision<00:29:16.841> either<00:29:16.954> because<00:29:17.162> you're<00:29:17.226> not<00:29:17.418> really<00:29:17.643> close<00:29:17.979> to<00:29:18.220> the<00:29:18.316> material.

00:29:20.528 --> 00:29:23.589
And<00:29:20.784> by<00:29:20.880> the<00:29:21.009> time<00:29:21.249> it<00:29:21.329> gets<00:29:21.586> to<00:29:21.682> me,<00:29:21.842> it's<00:29:21.986> been<00:29:22.451> nuanced<00:29:22.868> and<00:29:23.012> packaged.

00:29:24.615 --> 00:29:26.266
Who<00:29:24.711> knows<00:29:25.016> what's<00:29:25.897> really<00:29:26.138> there?

00:29:26.410 --> 00:29:36.331
So<00:29:26.715> that's<00:29:27.292> another<00:29:27.532> thing<00:29:27.740> that's<00:29:27.901> really<00:29:28.077> important<00:29:28.462> for<00:29:28.542> me<00:29:28.574> to<00:29:28.702> learn,<00:29:28.958> which<00:29:29.135> is,<00:29:29.423> you<00:29:29.455> know,<00:29:29.744> how<00:29:29.840> to<00:29:30.080> say,<00:29:30.321> okay,<00:29:30.561> well,<00:29:30.706> I<00:29:30.722> have<00:29:30.898> to<00:29:31.042> be<00:29:31.988> having<00:29:32.228> a<00:29:32.308> team<00:29:32.501> of<00:29:32.629> people<00:29:32.949> underneath<00:29:33.286> me<00:29:33.382> that<00:29:33.526> has<00:29:33.751> a<00:29:33.767> team<00:29:34.007> underneath<00:29:34.312> them<00:29:34.488> that<00:29:34.552> is<00:29:34.728> able<00:29:34.969> to<00:29:35.049> scale<00:29:35.530> and<00:29:35.834> have<00:29:35.995> impact.

00:29:38.354 --> 00:29:51.440
It's<00:29:38.499> interesting,<00:29:38.900> like,<00:29:39.285> in<00:29:39.446> your<00:29:39.687> role,<00:29:40.088> you're<00:29:40.329> kind<00:29:40.570> of<00:29:40.666> where<00:29:40.827> people<00:29:41.228> go<00:29:41.710> to<00:29:42.047> escape<00:29:42.673> reality<00:29:43.396> and<00:29:43.476> the<00:29:43.637> current,<00:29:44.118> like,<00:29:44.375> macroeconomic<00:29:45.339> environment<00:29:45.853> or<00:29:45.949> what's<00:29:46.190> happening<00:29:46.511> in<00:29:46.591> the<00:29:46.768> world<00:29:47.330> and<00:29:48.197> geopolitics<00:29:49.096> or,<00:29:49.417> you<00:29:49.513> know,<00:29:49.883> national<00:29:50.284> politics,<00:29:50.766> all<00:29:50.798> that<00:29:50.926> type<00:29:51.119> of<00:29:51.167> stuff.

00:29:51.986 --> 00:29:57.622
Do<00:29:52.050> you<00:29:52.372> ever<00:29:52.548> find<00:29:52.869> yourself<00:29:53.255> having<00:29:53.752> to<00:29:54.154> think<00:29:54.491> about—<00:29:55.422> I<00:29:55.454> mean,<00:29:55.599> obviously<00:29:55.984> you'd<00:29:56.225> have<00:29:56.402> to<00:29:56.546> think<00:29:56.659> about<00:29:56.883> those<00:29:57.108> things,<00:29:57.429> right?

00:29:57.670 --> 00:30:09.032
Like,<00:29:57.991> and,<00:29:59.212> you<00:29:59.308> know,<00:29:59.693> do<00:29:59.758> you<00:29:59.838> ever<00:29:59.998> find<00:30:00.159> yourself<00:30:00.496> where<00:30:00.593> you<00:30:00.721> have<00:30:00.898> to,<00:30:00.962> like,<00:30:01.138> speak<00:30:01.604> out<00:30:02.086> on<00:30:02.343> issues<00:30:02.664> that<00:30:02.728> have<00:30:02.824> nothing<00:30:03.017> to<00:30:03.097> do<00:30:03.145> with<00:30:03.210> your<00:30:03.370> company<00:30:04.013> or<00:30:04.350> make<00:30:04.591> statements<00:30:05.297> or<00:30:05.538> think<00:30:05.650> about<00:30:05.939> macroeconomic<00:30:06.935> issues<00:30:07.465> and<00:30:07.964> make<00:30:08.272> forecasts.

00:30:09.081 --> 00:30:18.429
I<00:30:09.097> just<00:30:09.339> wonder<00:30:09.582> like<00:30:09.808> how<00:30:10.051> you<00:30:11.216> handle<00:30:11.588> that<00:30:11.847> part<00:30:12.025> of<00:30:12.170> the<00:30:12.332> job<00:30:12.591> as<00:30:12.720> a<00:30:12.752> CEO,<00:30:13.788> which<00:30:13.949> is<00:30:13.982> so<00:30:14.273> different<00:30:14.742> than<00:30:14.855> a<00:30:14.920> CEO,<00:30:15.551> you<00:30:15.583> know,<00:30:15.793> 10,<00:30:16.036> 15<00:30:16.440> years<00:30:16.683> ago<00:30:16.910> who<00:30:17.007> could<00:30:17.104> focus<00:30:17.411> specifically<00:30:17.993> on<00:30:18.074> their<00:30:18.219> company.

00:30:18.478 --> 00:30:26.773
It<00:30:18.559> does<00:30:18.801> seem<00:30:19.028> like<00:30:19.206> CEOs<00:30:20.483> more<00:30:20.806> often<00:30:21.308> now<00:30:21.954> are<00:30:22.100> being<00:30:22.423> asked<00:30:22.666> to<00:30:22.763> comment<00:30:23.232> on<00:30:23.329> things<00:30:23.636> that<00:30:23.717> are,<00:30:24.121> you<00:30:24.153> know,<00:30:24.461> really<00:30:24.606> have<00:30:24.719> kind<00:30:25.447> of<00:30:25.479> nothing<00:30:25.819> to<00:30:25.916> do<00:30:25.997> with<00:30:26.158> the<00:30:26.239> company<00:30:26.450> they're<00:30:26.563> running.

00:30:28.810 --> 00:30:32.705
I<00:30:28.826> can<00:30:29.004> see<00:30:29.214> that,<00:30:29.553> that,<00:30:29.796> that,<00:30:30.119> that<00:30:30.345> can<00:30:30.523> happen<00:30:30.992> too<00:30:31.897> in<00:30:31.978> certain<00:30:32.220> circumstances.

00:30:32.754 --> 00:30:33.772
You've<00:30:32.948> probably<00:30:33.239> seen<00:30:33.287> it<00:30:33.433> happen.

00:30:33.821 --> 00:30:37.019
I,<00:30:34.160> I,<00:30:34.536> try<00:30:34.712> to<00:30:35.097> do<00:30:35.257> the<00:30:35.289> best<00:30:36.314> job<00:30:36.555> I<00:30:36.635> can.

00:30:37.196 --> 00:30:42.916
We<00:30:37.340> have<00:30:37.436> these<00:30:37.820> values<00:30:38.237> we've<00:30:38.397> set<00:30:38.942> up,<00:30:39.182> values<00:30:39.599> we've<00:30:39.759> set<00:30:40.304> up,<00:30:41.762> building<00:30:42.547> and<00:30:42.707> joy.

00:30:43.829 --> 00:31:01.919
And<00:30:44.246> whenever<00:30:45.608> something<00:30:45.928> comes<00:30:46.313> up<00:30:46.505> and<00:30:46.793> there's<00:30:47.114> a—<00:30:48.235> in<00:30:48.315> the<00:30:48.412> world<00:30:48.588> around<00:30:48.972> us,<00:30:49.293> we're<00:30:50.238> struggling<00:30:50.879> to,<00:30:51.696> in<00:30:51.776> the<00:30:51.857> circumstance,<00:30:53.218> whether<00:30:53.475> it's<00:30:53.619> tragedy<00:30:54.180> or<00:30:54.741> just<00:30:55.221> uncertainty,<00:30:56.343> I<00:30:56.423> tend<00:30:56.583> to<00:30:56.615> just<00:30:56.808> lean<00:30:57.048> on<00:30:57.288> the<00:30:57.384> values<00:30:57.881> and<00:30:57.929> say,<00:30:58.089> okay,<00:30:58.346> well,<00:30:59.852> does<00:31:00.012> the<00:31:00.108> community<00:31:00.733> need<00:31:00.942> to<00:31:01.054> hear<00:31:01.246> from<00:31:01.470> me<00:31:01.631> on<00:31:01.727> this?

00:31:02.352 --> 00:31:06.946
Is<00:31:02.496> this<00:31:02.657> something<00:31:02.978> our<00:31:03.139> community<00:31:03.717> of<00:31:03.862> people—<00:31:04.167> and<00:31:04.215> this<00:31:04.440> is,<00:31:04.778> so<00:31:04.906> again,<00:31:05.340> it's<00:31:05.468> people<00:31:05.725> who<00:31:05.886> love<00:31:06.047> these<00:31:06.207> imagined<00:31:06.609> worlds.

00:31:06.995 --> 00:31:13.003
So<00:31:07.075> is<00:31:07.252> it<00:31:07.332> affecting<00:31:07.975> the<00:31:08.698> imagined<00:31:09.083> worlds<00:31:09.340> they're<00:31:09.421> living<00:31:09.806> in<00:31:09.983> and<00:31:10.143> do<00:31:10.224> they<00:31:10.384> need<00:31:10.658> to<00:31:10.722> hear<00:31:11.284> from<00:31:11.429> me<00:31:11.654> about<00:31:11.991> these<00:31:12.152> imagined<00:31:12.553> worlds?

00:31:14.321 --> 00:31:21.711
And<00:31:14.465> so<00:31:15.284> using<00:31:15.542> that<00:31:15.750> as<00:31:15.847> the<00:31:15.991> test<00:31:16.409> and<00:31:16.489> then,<00:31:16.714> or<00:31:16.891> they're<00:31:17.116> building<00:31:17.534> or<00:31:17.694> there's<00:31:17.919> joy,<00:31:18.321> can<00:31:18.417> I<00:31:18.498> celebrate<00:31:18.980> something<00:31:19.606> that<00:31:19.767> again,<00:31:20.040> it's<00:31:20.265> going<00:31:20.377> to<00:31:20.442> serve<00:31:20.747> the<00:31:20.827> community<00:31:21.309> in<00:31:21.389> some<00:31:21.614> way?

00:31:21.855 --> 00:31:26.306
And<00:31:22.032> that's<00:31:22.739> served<00:31:22.996> us,<00:31:23.157> I<00:31:23.221> think,<00:31:23.398> pretty<00:31:23.639> well<00:31:24.442> and<00:31:24.522> served<00:31:24.683> me<00:31:24.844> pretty<00:31:25.085> well<00:31:25.390> to<00:31:25.486> serve<00:31:25.663> as<00:31:25.808> a<00:31:25.888> test.

00:31:26.434 --> 00:31:33.019
Because<00:31:27.157> otherwise,<00:31:27.655> I<00:31:27.735> think<00:31:27.976> you're,<00:31:28.860> I<00:31:28.940> think<00:31:29.583> for<00:31:29.647> the<00:31:29.743> purposes<00:31:30.161> of<00:31:30.305> running<00:31:30.626> a<00:31:30.771> company,<00:31:31.831> sort<00:31:31.975> of<00:31:32.007> getting<00:31:32.296> outside<00:31:32.650> the<00:31:32.794> lane.

00:31:33.741 --> 00:31:49.798
And<00:31:35.427> I<00:31:35.443> think<00:31:35.668> we<00:31:36.166> have,<00:31:36.615> you<00:31:36.648> know,<00:31:36.969> community,<00:31:37.515> I<00:31:37.531> think<00:31:37.691> we<00:31:37.771> have<00:31:37.852> some<00:31:38.012> values<00:31:38.494> that<00:31:38.590> are<00:31:38.735> really<00:31:38.960> consistent<00:31:39.554> around,<00:31:39.875> if<00:31:40.565> you<00:31:40.726> look<00:31:40.886> at<00:31:40.983> the<00:31:41.127> way<00:31:41.304> we<00:31:41.946> enforce<00:31:42.412> moderation,<00:31:43.150> you<00:31:43.231> know,<00:31:43.375> we're<00:31:43.857> going<00:31:44.194> to,<00:31:44.579> you<00:31:44.611> know,<00:31:44.820> have<00:31:46.040> guidelines<00:31:46.763> that<00:31:46.924> are<00:31:47.084> very<00:31:47.710> bright<00:31:48.192> and<00:31:48.754> we<00:31:48.850> hold<00:31:49.091> them<00:31:49.396> firm.

00:31:49.894 --> 00:31:57.569
And<00:31:50.039> so<00:31:50.135> if<00:31:50.231> something<00:31:50.456> comes<00:31:50.841> up<00:31:51.002> that<00:31:51.162> is,<00:31:51.500> again,<00:31:52.463> gonna<00:31:52.624> hurt<00:31:52.929> the<00:31:53.009> community<00:31:53.410> or<00:31:53.442> impair<00:31:53.764> the<00:31:53.908> community,<00:31:54.390> we<00:31:54.615> will<00:31:54.791> address<00:31:55.257> it<00:31:56.156> and<00:31:56.236> do<00:31:56.333> so<00:31:56.541> publicly<00:31:56.879> if<00:31:57.039> necessary.

00:31:58.075 --> 00:32:08.743
But<00:31:58.318> that<00:31:58.787> really<00:31:59.111> is<00:32:00.001> kind<00:32:00.115> of<00:32:00.179> the<00:32:00.260> guiding<00:32:00.665> light<00:32:00.908> for<00:32:01.135> us,<00:32:01.296> so<00:32:01.377> to<00:32:01.458> speak,<00:32:02.300> on<00:32:02.430> managing<00:32:02.932> through<00:32:03.174> a<00:32:03.320> lot<00:32:03.514> of<00:32:03.579> this<00:32:03.741> uncertainty<00:32:04.308> and<00:32:04.453> turmoil<00:32:04.972> is<00:32:05.182> just<00:32:05.263> say,<00:32:05.441> okay,<00:32:05.684> look,<00:32:06.089> is<00:32:06.170> this<00:32:06.251> serving<00:32:06.574> our<00:32:06.655> community<00:32:06.963> of<00:32:07.060> people<00:32:07.190> who<00:32:07.373> love<00:32:07.657> anime?

00:32:10.030 --> 00:32:14.246
If<00:32:10.143> the<00:32:10.208> answer's<00:32:10.467> like,<00:32:11.181> yeah,<00:32:11.489> they<00:32:11.522> don't<00:32:11.846> really<00:32:12.089> need<00:32:12.251> to<00:32:12.332> hear<00:32:12.478> about<00:32:12.722> that,<00:32:12.900> then<00:32:13.014> I'm<00:32:13.224> not<00:32:13.387> going<00:32:13.533> to<00:32:13.614> talk<00:32:13.857> about<00:32:14.198> it.

00:32:17.028 --> 00:32:17.868
Yeah,<00:32:17.270> that<00:32:17.384> makes<00:32:17.771> sense.

00:32:17.933 --> 00:32:19.194
That's<00:32:18.256> very<00:32:18.418> smart<00:32:18.887> actually.

00:32:20.131 --> 00:32:22.636
Finally,<00:32:21.327> by<00:32:21.408> the<00:32:21.488> way,<00:32:21.569> this<00:32:21.715> has<00:32:21.812> been<00:32:21.893> incredible,<00:32:22.377> Perkins.

00:32:22.684 --> 00:32:23.622
Thank<00:32:22.846> you<00:32:22.878> so<00:32:23.024> much<00:32:23.185> for<00:32:23.331> coming<00:32:23.573> on.

00:32:24.296 --> 00:32:31.357
Uh,<00:32:24.377> we<00:32:24.473> end<00:32:24.697> every<00:32:24.874> interview<00:32:25.275> with<00:32:25.436> the<00:32:25.516> same<00:32:25.917> question,<00:32:26.639> and<00:32:26.720> that<00:32:26.896> is<00:32:27.105> at<00:32:27.217> CEO.com,<00:32:27.923> we<00:32:28.084> believe<00:32:28.308> the<00:32:28.405> chances<00:32:28.806> one<00:32:29.030> gives<00:32:29.448> is<00:32:29.528> just<00:32:29.769> as<00:32:29.849> important<00:32:30.186> as<00:32:30.314> the<00:32:30.395> chances<00:32:30.796> one<00:32:30.972> takes.

00:32:32.015 --> 00:32:34.776
When<00:32:32.176> you<00:32:32.401> hear<00:32:32.577> that,<00:32:32.802> who<00:32:32.978> gave<00:32:33.203> you<00:32:33.299> a<00:32:33.380> chance<00:32:33.701> to<00:32:33.797> get<00:32:34.005> you<00:32:34.102> to<00:32:34.166> where<00:32:34.326> you<00:32:34.487> are<00:32:34.583> today?

00:32:35.931 --> 00:32:38.531
Well,<00:32:36.108> I,<00:32:36.252> I,<00:32:36.525> you<00:32:36.669> know,<00:32:37.295> bring<00:32:37.488> it<00:32:37.552> because<00:32:37.873> we're<00:32:37.953> talking<00:32:38.194> about<00:32:38.338> Utah.

00:32:38.579 --> 00:32:44.373
I<00:32:38.675> have<00:32:38.852> to<00:32:38.980> kind<00:32:39.141> of<00:32:39.173> bring<00:32:39.398> it<00:32:39.462> back<00:32:39.783> to<00:32:39.879> that,<00:32:40.280> that<00:32:40.505> time,<00:32:41.227> um,<00:32:41.725> back<00:32:42.046> in,<00:32:42.623> it<00:32:42.688> was<00:32:42.832> even<00:32:43.008> in<00:32:43.089> 2001.

00:32:44.437 --> 00:32:48.256
I<00:32:44.469> had<00:32:44.677> actually<00:32:45.721> stepped<00:32:45.993> away<00:32:46.298> briefly,<00:32:47.325> uh,<00:32:47.598> from<00:32:47.807> the<00:32:47.855> Olympics.

Uh,<00:32:48.690> I<00:32:48.850> had<00:32:49.107> long<00:32:49.348> conversation<00:32:49.909> with<00:32:50.134> Mitt<00:32:50.455> and<00:32:51.033> to<00:32:51.177> go<00:32:51.514> join<00:32:51.755> Campus<00:32:52.157> Pipeline,<00:32:52.638> which<00:32:52.815> is<00:32:52.895> a<00:32:52.960> startup<00:32:53.361> that<00:32:53.441> basically<00:32:53.778> was<00:32:53.875> looking<00:32:54.164> to<00:32:54.324> do<00:32:54.373> what<00:32:54.629> Facebook<00:32:55.047> did.

00:32:55.994 --> 00:32:58.451
And<00:32:56.075> I<00:32:56.091> got<00:32:56.331> there<00:32:56.492> and<00:32:56.588> I<00:32:56.620> was<00:32:56.685> like,<00:32:56.958> you<00:32:56.990> know,<00:32:57.215> this<00:32:57.391> is<00:32:57.455> probably<00:32:57.793> not<00:32:58.001> a<00:32:58.017> good<00:32:58.242> fit.

00:32:59.768 --> 00:33:09.418
