# Sameer Maskey was building AI when investors told him not to say so

Sameer Maskey wrote the first version of Fusemachines himself. That was 2013\. The product was a dialog system for customer service, which is what people called a chatbot before anyone called it a chatbot, and one of the first customers was the City of New York.

He was demoing it to deputy mayors. His investors had advice.

"Our investors at that point and advisors were saying, 'Oh, don't even say it's an AI company,' because AI still didn't have that at that point," Maskey told the CEO.com Podcast. "In fact, some people actually didn't even like if it's an AI company because AI has historically been, at many times, thought to produce a lot of value; there would be a lot of hype, and it wouldn't produce value, the funding dries up and so forth."

So Fusemachines sold New York a "natural language dialog system." Which it was. The two letters stayed out of the pitch.

Maskey has a PhD in computer science from Columbia, where he still teaches as an [adjunct associate professor](https://fusemachines.com/company/about/?ref=ceo.com). Before Fusemachines, he worked at IBM Watson Research Center on machine translation and question answering. Before that, as an undergraduate at Bates College in Maine, he built a speech-to-speech translation system between Nepali and English. It worked on a small set of phrases. In an [April 2026 letter to shareholders](https://ir.fusemachines.com/news-and-events/ceo-letter/letter-from-the-ceo-s-desk-april-2026?ref=ceo.com), he dated his time in the field at more than 25 years, going back to the first Nepali speech synthesizer at Carnegie Mellon.

That history shapes how he talks about the current moment. He does not sound like someone who discovered the technology in 2023.

"For researchers in the AI field, it's like a Holy Grail," he said. "It's like almost getting to a point where you've been trying all these years to build a system like that, and now suddenly, the technology has matured to a point where it seems possible, and it seems feasible, and it seems possible to be really used in the real world and so forth."

When Maskey came on the CEO.com Podcast, Fusemachines had [announced a deal](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1875493/000119312524013069/d742723dex991.htm?ref=ceo.com) in January 2024 to go public through a merger with CSLM Acquisition Corp., a SPAC. The interview opened with a mistake: the host assumed the company was already listed. Maskey corrected it without fuss and walked through the mechanics. The SPAC is already public. It finds a target. The two sides agree on valuation and the business. They sign a business combination agreement. Then comes the S-4 filing and the wait for the SEC.

The wait was long. Fusemachines [started trading on Nasdaq](https://fusemachines.com/press/press-release/fusemachines-begins-trading-on-NASDAQ-marking-the-start-of-a-new-chapter/?ref=ceo.com) as FUSE on October 23, 2025, 21 months after the announcement. In the shareholder letter, he described 2025 as "a challenging but defining year." The company ended it with no debt and adjusted EBITDA up 25 percent, largely from cost containment.

At the time of the interview, the listing process had taken over his calendar. He said his days had become "mostly to do with finance meetings." A normal week, in the version he described, started with getting up before the first call to clear email and chat, since much of the company is in other time zones. Then a stacked morning of meetings with those teams. Then strategy and metrics with senior executives. Then external meetings. He said he tried, at the start of each week, to check whether the calendar matched the percentages he wanted, and it usually didn't, because most of it was already set by recurring invites.

The one thing that held was a 30-minute walk every morning, which he had started about nine months earlier. "During that time, you're able to sort of think through things and just run that mental model on what I think needs to be done, some of the strategy-related questions, and so forth."

He uses Notion. The company used Slack and Work Chat but was moving to Teams. He had started using ChatGPT, "like many people are starting to use."

Fusemachines' stated mission is to democratize AI, and Maskey was specific about what that means to him.

"Particularly, I think we have a view that talent is everywhere, but opportunities are not," he said. He grew up in Kathmandu. His mother, brother, and sister are still there. The company's AI Fellowship, started in 2017, has trained more than 1,000 people across 12 countries, and qualifying applicants get full scholarships, according to [the announcement of the 2025 Nepal cohort](https://fusemachines.com/press/press-release/fusemachines-announces-ai-fellowship-2025-in-nepal/?ref=ceo.com). The company draws on that trained pool to staff its enterprise work. On the podcast, he put the stakes plainly: bringing AI skills to people in underserved communities "has a chance to reduce poverty, bring a better quality of life for everyone."

Asked what AI looks like in 10 years, he said it's hard to predict 10 months. Then he gave an answer that has aged well. You could ask a chatbot for a four-day European itinerary and get a good one, he said, but you could not tell it to book the hotels and flights within a budget. "People are trying to do it with agents and so forth, but I think in 10 years that probably becomes much more fluid."

Fusemachines is now selling that. The company [added shortlisting, pacing, and trust agents](https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2026/07/14/3326853/0/en/Fusemachines-Announces-Agentic-AI-Suite-for-Talent-Acquisition-Bringing-Agentic-AI-Across-the-Hiring-Lifecycle.html?ref=ceo.com) to its recruiting product in July 2026, and it runs its own first-round technical interviews with an agent assisting. In August, Qintess, a South American IT services company, [committed to spend at least $6.5 million](https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2026/08/12/3343519/0/en/qintess-commits-to-a-minimum-6-5-million-spend-on-fusemachines-agentic-ai-products-and-services-over-three-years.html?ref=ceo.com) on Fusemachines products over three years. Maskey said in that release that the work of the prior two quarters was starting to show up as commercial opportunities. Ten days earlier, the company had [sold a convertible note](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0002033383/000149315226035918/form8-k.htm?ref=ceo.com) to an existing investor, Meteora Capital: $2.5 million in principal for $2.05 million in cash, plus warrants, all priced at $4.20 a share.

On the question of whether a solo founder could build a $1 billion company with AI doing the rest, he was doubtful. Building a company still involves people talking to potential clients, employees sharing a culture, and something he struggled to name about two humans working on the same problem and feeding off each other. Maybe a team of 10 could do what 100 do today. One person and a set of assistants, he said, "I think it'll be a while before we see that."

He was asked for the three most important traits of a leader and gave two.

Grit came first. "Especially as a CEO, you are quite lonely," he said. The job is managing the lows so you keep going through them and don't get carried away by the highs.

Empathy came second, and he defined it narrowly, as listening. Fusemachines had more than 400 employees when he said this, and he admitted he didn't know all of them. When a two-month employee or an intern says something isn't working, he said, the easy move is to write it off as a new-hire complaining. He thinks that is how you end up with a company where people fight each other instead of the problem.

The thing he wishes he'd known earlier is that sales is hard. His first sale was to a government, and he came away thinking sales was easy. "So there was a sequence of mistakes I made because of this, not appreciating how hard sales are," he said. Technical founders, he thinks, undersell how much structure and how much of a team the function needs, and nothing else in a company gets people excited if growth isn't there.

He was a third of the way through Atomic Habits. His daughter gave it to him for Father's Day after a conversation about the state of her room.

Every episode of the CEO.com Podcast ends with the same question, built on the idea that the chances one gives are just as important as the chances one takes. Who gave you a chance?

"My mom," Maskey said. "She's been my best supporter throughout all these years, for a kid from Nepal being given that confidence to take a chance and come to the US when you had never flown an airplane before, and being able to just make that trip, and providing that support and confidence throughout the years."

00:00:09.750 --> 00:00:13.118
Dr.<00:00:10.044> Maski,<00:00:10.518> it<00:00:10.665> is<00:00:10.763> so<00:00:11.254> great<00:00:12.088> to<00:00:12.235> have<00:00:12.464> you<00:00:12.562> on<00:00:12.726> the<00:00:12.807> show.

00:00:13.200 --> 00:00:15.146
Thank<00:00:13.445> you<00:00:13.543> so<00:00:13.952> much<00:00:14.345> for<00:00:14.443> coming<00:00:14.835> on.

00:00:16.059 --> 00:00:18.902
Uh,<00:00:16.107> you<00:00:16.155> recently<00:00:16.653> took<00:00:16.894> your<00:00:17.039> company<00:00:17.537> public<00:00:18.019> via<00:00:18.276> SPAC.

00:00:18.982 --> 00:00:21.601
You<00:00:19.063> went<00:00:19.368> IPO<00:00:19.850> via<00:00:20.027> SPAC<00:00:20.589> in<00:00:20.750> January.

00:00:22.099 --> 00:00:25.505
Tell<00:00:22.180> us<00:00:22.292> about<00:00:22.421> your<00:00:22.581> company,<00:00:22.999> how<00:00:23.143> you<00:00:23.240> got<00:00:23.401> to<00:00:23.481> where<00:00:23.625> you<00:00:23.866> are,<00:00:24.268> and<00:00:24.364> what<00:00:24.525> that<00:00:24.750> whole<00:00:24.846> process<00:00:25.312> was<00:00:25.409> like.

00:00:25.634 --> 00:00:27.234
That<00:00:25.682> must<00:00:25.894> have<00:00:26.048> been,<00:00:26.409> uh,<00:00:26.667> kind<00:00:26.856> of<00:00:26.924> fascinating.

00:00:28.087 --> 00:00:30.896
Um,<00:00:28.665> thank<00:00:28.842> you<00:00:28.922> for<00:00:29.147> having<00:00:29.387> me,<00:00:30.013> uh,<00:00:30.270> in<00:00:30.415> the<00:00:30.447> show,<00:00:30.671> Clint.

00:00:31.313 --> 00:00:36.129
I<00:00:31.394> just<00:00:31.618> want<00:00:31.795> to,<00:00:32.501> uh,<00:00:33.641> I<00:00:33.721> just<00:00:33.865> want<00:00:33.962> to<00:00:34.042> say<00:00:34.283> that<00:00:34.748> we<00:00:34.828> haven't<00:00:35.166> gone<00:00:35.406> public<00:00:35.808> yet.

00:00:36.771 --> 00:00:44.716
We<00:00:36.851> announced<00:00:37.878> our<00:00:38.295> BCA<00:00:38.632> signing,<00:00:40.045> uh,<00:00:40.462> in<00:00:40.607> January,<00:00:41.666> and<00:00:41.826> now—<00:00:42.308> yeah,<00:00:42.790> yeah,<00:00:43.432> yeah,<00:00:43.833> we're<00:00:43.977> in<00:00:44.074> the<00:00:44.154> process.

00:00:45.101 --> 00:00:46.385
What<00:00:45.197> is<00:00:45.422> that<00:00:45.502> process<00:00:46.160> like?

00:00:46.481 --> 00:00:49.771
Like,<00:00:46.706> tell<00:00:46.850> us<00:00:47.027> what<00:00:47.107> it's<00:00:47.268> like<00:00:47.781> to<00:00:48.006> go<00:00:48.487> public<00:00:49.113> via<00:00:49.370> SPAC.

00:00:50.718 --> 00:00:54.201
So<00:00:51.055> basically,<00:00:52.179> uh,<00:00:52.356> SPACs<00:00:52.885> are<00:00:52.965> already<00:00:53.222> publicly<00:00:53.640> listed.

00:00:54.346 --> 00:00:55.742
They<00:00:54.587> are<00:00:54.651> an<00:00:54.988> entity<00:00:55.309> on<00:00:55.469> its<00:00:55.630> own.

00:00:56.192 --> 00:00:59.799
That<00:00:56.993> goes<00:00:57.298> out,<00:00:57.715> raises<00:00:58.035> money,<00:00:58.356> and<00:00:58.516> creates<00:00:58.837> this<00:00:58.997> public<00:00:59.382> vehicle.

00:01:00.744 --> 00:01:03.021
And<00:01:01.402> usually<00:01:01.722> they<00:01:01.867> are<00:01:01.963> looking<00:01:02.348> for<00:01:02.524> a<00:01:02.604> target.

00:01:03.229 --> 00:01:17.225
If<00:01:03.325> they<00:01:03.406> find<00:01:03.646> the<00:01:03.726> right<00:01:03.967> target,<00:01:04.672> the,<00:01:05.009> the<00:01:05.153> target<00:01:05.474> company,<00:01:06.676> uh,<00:01:07.093> in<00:01:07.237> conjunction<00:01:07.798> with<00:01:08.375> the<00:01:08.472> SPAC,<00:01:09.498> comes<00:01:09.898> to<00:01:09.978> an<00:01:10.139> agreement<00:01:10.844> on<00:01:11.582> various<00:01:11.886> things<00:01:12.287> from<00:01:12.543> valuation,<00:01:13.345> from<00:01:13.666> growth,<00:01:14.932> uh,<00:01:15.269> what<00:01:15.429> the<00:01:15.509> business<00:01:15.894> is,<00:01:16.150> business<00:01:16.455> model,<00:01:16.856> all<00:01:16.936> of<00:01:17.032> that.

00:01:17.898 --> 00:01:24.084
And<00:01:18.138> once<00:01:18.475> that<00:01:18.651> is<00:01:18.812> agreement—<00:01:19.357> agreed<00:01:19.613> upon,<00:01:20.222> uh,<00:01:20.623> there's<00:01:20.800> a,<00:01:21.200> there's<00:01:21.377> a<00:01:21.441> step<00:01:21.810> what's<00:01:22.086> called<00:01:22.394> business<00:01:22.638> combination<00:01:23.207> agreement<00:01:23.613> gets<00:01:23.775> signed.

00:01:24.929 --> 00:01:28.877
And<00:01:25.075> after<00:01:25.270> that,<00:01:25.806> we<00:01:26.148> file<00:01:26.472> the<00:01:26.635> S-4<00:01:27.041> and<00:01:27.431> we<00:01:27.610> wait<00:01:27.853> for<00:01:28.032> SEC<00:01:28.341> approvals.

00:01:29.690 --> 00:01:31.092
Um,<00:01:30.449> yeah,<00:01:30.630> essentially.

00:01:31.290 --> 00:01:32.198
Ah,<00:01:31.851> I<00:01:31.950> see.

00:01:33.666 --> 00:01:33.778
Okay.

00:01:34.084 --> 00:01:40.489
For<00:01:34.229> some<00:01:34.406> reason,<00:01:34.631> I<00:01:34.647> was<00:01:34.808> thinking<00:01:35.050> like<00:01:35.227> as<00:01:35.371> soon<00:01:35.693> as<00:01:35.838> you<00:01:35.999> announced<00:01:36.498> it,<00:01:36.578> you<00:01:36.804> were<00:01:36.981> public<00:01:38.252> because<00:01:38.654> the<00:01:38.686> SPAC<00:01:39.072> was<00:01:39.233> already—<00:01:39.797> apologies.

00:01:41.590 --> 00:01:48.061
Tell<00:01:41.718> us<00:01:41.847> about<00:01:42.250> Fuse<00:01:42.507> Machines<00:01:42.893> though<00:01:43.215> and<00:01:43.376> how<00:01:43.537> you<00:01:43.714> got<00:01:44.101> to<00:01:44.197> be<00:01:44.519> the<00:01:44.600> CEO<00:01:45.260> and<00:01:45.469> what<00:01:45.630> your,<00:01:47.030> uh,<00:01:47.175> what<00:01:47.320> you<00:01:47.417> guys<00:01:47.642> focus<00:01:47.980> on.

00:01:49.762 --> 00:01:50.164
Sure.

00:01:50.357 --> 00:01:58.197
So<00:01:50.726> my<00:01:50.967> background<00:01:51.369> is<00:01:51.514> AI<00:01:51.771> and<00:01:51.915> machine<00:01:52.156> learning,<00:01:53.297> being<00:01:53.602> it—<00:01:54.502> been<00:01:54.662> doing<00:01:54.839> it<00:01:54.903> for<00:01:54.984> about<00:01:55.289> 20-something<00:01:55.867> years<00:01:56.815> before<00:01:57.458> all<00:01:57.635> the<00:01:57.715> hype<00:01:58.020> now.

00:02:00.739 --> 00:02:07.656
I<00:02:00.916> got<00:02:01.077> my<00:02:01.239> PhD<00:02:01.642> in<00:02:01.787> computer<00:02:02.045> science<00:02:02.432> focused<00:02:02.771> on<00:02:02.867> AI,<00:02:03.399> worked<00:02:03.577> on<00:02:03.722> IBM<00:02:03.980> Watson,<00:02:05.028> then<00:02:05.173> started<00:02:05.496> teaching<00:02:05.770> at<00:02:05.915> Columbia<00:02:06.141> University<00:02:06.882> various<00:02:07.269> AI<00:02:07.431> courses.

00:02:08.578 --> 00:02:14.067
As<00:02:08.740> I<00:02:08.772> was<00:02:08.999> doing<00:02:09.468> it,<00:02:09.808> I<00:02:09.954> wanted<00:02:10.213> to<00:02:10.294> start<00:02:10.537> a<00:02:10.602> company<00:02:12.788> and<00:02:12.950> I<00:02:13.209> started<00:02:13.517> Fuse<00:02:13.760> Machines.

00:02:15.486 --> 00:02:25.979
And<00:02:15.647> at<00:02:15.807> that,<00:02:16.626> when<00:02:16.770> I<00:02:16.786> started<00:02:17.203> in<00:02:17.412> 2013,<00:02:19.594> for<00:02:19.754> me,<00:02:20.380> the<00:02:20.460> idea<00:02:20.797> was,<00:02:21.455> okay,<00:02:21.743> what<00:02:21.920> can<00:02:22.144> I<00:02:22.401> build<00:02:23.123> as<00:02:23.219> a<00:02:23.348> product<00:02:23.765> that<00:02:23.989> I<00:02:24.086> know<00:02:24.872> I<00:02:24.888> have<00:02:24.968> certain<00:02:25.289> advantage<00:02:25.834> on?

00:02:27.278 --> 00:02:35.733
And<00:02:27.519> that<00:02:27.760> was<00:02:28.081> in<00:02:28.241> dialogue<00:02:28.562> systems<00:02:29.380> because<00:02:30.728> all<00:02:30.824> my<00:02:30.984> life<00:02:31.161> I'd<00:02:31.305> been<00:02:31.466> doing<00:02:31.787> research<00:02:32.188> on<00:02:32.268> natural<00:02:32.573> language<00:02:32.894> dialogue<00:02:33.166> systems,<00:02:33.632> question<00:02:33.952> answering<00:02:34.209> systems,<00:02:35.316> and<00:02:35.396> so<00:02:35.557> forth.

00:02:35.878 --> 00:02:36.568
And<00:02:35.958> that's<00:02:36.183> what<00:02:36.279> I<00:02:36.359> did.

00:02:37.787 --> 00:02:40.691

00:03:40.547 --> 00:03:44.506
And<00:03:40.596> also,<00:03:40.852> like,<00:03:41.028> it's<00:03:41.124> not<00:03:41.269> even<00:03:41.429> just<00:03:41.669> like<00:03:42.454> within<00:03:42.711> the<00:03:42.871> business<00:03:43.352> world<00:03:43.656> that<00:03:43.752> it's<00:03:43.897> being<00:03:44.073> talked<00:03:44.313> about.

00:03:44.810 --> 00:03:53.544
It's<00:03:44.954> being<00:03:45.115> talked<00:03:45.371> in<00:03:45.435> the<00:03:45.515> political<00:03:45.900> world,<00:03:46.140> every<00:03:46.461> world,<00:03:47.262> you<00:03:47.358> know,<00:03:48.784> all<00:03:48.897> of<00:03:49.025> society<00:03:49.666> is<00:03:49.778> talking<00:03:50.098> about<00:03:50.307> this<00:03:50.467> thing,<00:03:50.707> like<00:03:50.884> whether<00:03:51.124> it's<00:03:51.284> going<00:03:51.428> to<00:03:51.589> kill<00:03:51.781> us<00:03:51.989> all<00:03:52.406> and<00:03:52.550> all<00:03:52.630> of<00:03:52.727> those<00:03:52.967> types<00:03:53.207> of<00:03:53.287> things.

00:03:53.608 --> 00:04:02.037
And<00:03:53.672> so<00:03:54.233> I<00:03:54.313> wonder<00:03:54.553> what<00:03:54.666> that's<00:03:54.890> like<00:03:55.114> for<00:03:55.355> you,<00:03:55.707> somebody<00:03:56.156> who's<00:03:56.396> been<00:03:57.358> working<00:03:57.758> on<00:03:57.919> this<00:03:58.095> and<00:03:58.255> studying<00:03:58.816> this<00:03:59.217> and<00:03:59.377> building<00:04:00.659> with<00:04:00.899> this<00:04:01.140> for<00:04:01.284> as<00:04:01.380> long<00:04:01.620> as<00:04:01.701> you<00:04:01.845> have.

00:04:03.640 --> 00:04:05.648
Yeah,<00:04:03.900> a<00:04:04.045> lot<00:04:04.369> has<00:04:04.466> changed,<00:04:05.179> obviously.

00:04:06.409 --> 00:04:17.338
So<00:04:06.571> I<00:04:06.733> built<00:04:06.960> my<00:04:07.138> first<00:04:08.271> Nepali<00:04:09.000> to<00:04:09.162> English,<00:04:09.583> English<00:04:09.826> to<00:04:09.907> Nepali<00:04:10.457> speech-to-speech<00:04:11.348> translation<00:04:11.914> system<00:04:12.400> in<00:04:12.481> a<00:04:12.530> limited<00:04:12.885> domain<00:04:14.740> in<00:04:14.885> my<00:04:14.966> undergrad<00:04:16.031> in<00:04:16.257> early<00:04:16.435> 2000,<00:04:17.225> right?

00:04:17.467 --> 00:04:19.275
That<00:04:18.080> was<00:04:18.193> like<00:04:18.290> 20-something<00:04:18.920> years<00:04:19.097> ago.

00:04:20.810 --> 00:04:39.338
It<00:04:20.842> was<00:04:21.489> very<00:04:22.281> limited<00:04:22.686> domain,<00:04:23.106> could<00:04:23.430> only<00:04:23.672> translate<00:04:24.157> few<00:04:24.465> things<00:04:24.804> and<00:04:24.966> so<00:04:25.192> forth,<00:04:26.163> versus<00:04:27.295> now<00:04:27.796> when<00:04:28.104> you<00:04:28.217> see<00:04:28.589> GPT-4o,<00:04:32.434> keep<00:04:32.691> capacities<00:04:33.414> on<00:04:34.200> just<00:04:34.522> doing<00:04:34.843> translation<00:04:35.437> so<00:04:35.661> fluently<00:04:36.705> on<00:04:36.850> the<00:04:36.930> phone<00:04:37.829> at<00:04:37.909> the<00:04:37.989> same<00:04:38.230> time<00:04:38.616> with<00:04:38.776> no<00:04:38.953> lags.

00:04:40.157 --> 00:04:44.492
For<00:04:40.558> researchers<00:04:42.067> in<00:04:42.148> the<00:04:42.228> AI<00:04:42.629> field,<00:04:42.902> it's<00:04:43.143> like<00:04:43.352> a<00:04:43.930> holy<00:04:44.235> grail.

00:04:44.636 --> 00:04:55.987
It's<00:04:45.054> like<00:04:45.359> almost<00:04:45.776> getting<00:04:46.017> to<00:04:46.161> a<00:04:46.322> point<00:04:46.643> where<00:04:46.884> you've<00:04:46.980> been<00:04:47.638> trying<00:04:48.168> all<00:04:48.345> these<00:04:48.650> years<00:04:49.067> to<00:04:49.388> build<00:04:49.565> a<00:04:49.629> system<00:04:49.950> like<00:04:50.111> that,<00:04:50.833> and<00:04:50.914> now<00:04:51.074> suddenly<00:04:52.600> the<00:04:52.744> technology<00:04:53.065> has<00:04:53.242> matured<00:04:54.205> to<00:04:54.301> a<00:04:54.430> point<00:04:54.927> where<00:04:55.152> it<00:04:55.233> seems<00:04:55.570> possible.

00:04:56.132 --> 00:05:02.976
And<00:04:56.277> it<00:04:56.309> seems<00:04:56.615> feasible<00:04:57.581> and<00:04:58.000> it<00:04:58.145> seems<00:04:58.548> possible<00:04:59.095> to<00:04:59.433> be<00:04:59.594> really<00:05:00.303> used<00:05:00.802> in<00:05:00.963> real<00:05:01.285> world<00:05:02.493> and<00:05:02.574> so<00:05:02.799> forth.

00:05:03.556 --> 00:05:09.263
So<00:05:03.701> from<00:05:03.927> a<00:05:03.943> research<00:05:04.329> perspective,<00:05:04.748> for<00:05:04.909> especially<00:05:05.312> language<00:05:05.637> researchers,<00:05:06.369> it's<00:05:07.344> matured<00:05:07.686> a<00:05:07.816> lot<00:05:08.076> and<00:05:08.239> it's<00:05:08.385> very,<00:05:08.564> very<00:05:08.808> good<00:05:08.954> to<00:05:09.035> see<00:05:09.214> it.

00:05:11.540 --> 00:05:11.873
Yeah.

00:05:11.923 --> 00:05:26.798
Now<00:05:12.389> from<00:05:12.556> a<00:05:12.723> business<00:05:12.973> side,<00:05:14.917> when<00:05:15.080> we<00:05:15.177> started<00:05:15.568> 10<00:05:15.747> years<00:05:16.056> ago,<00:05:16.316> for<00:05:16.414> example,<00:05:16.886> when<00:05:17.049> we<00:05:17.700> sold<00:05:18.090> our<00:05:18.367> system<00:05:19.001> in<00:05:19.083> the<00:05:19.164> beginning,<00:05:20.140> one<00:05:20.287> of<00:05:20.368> our<00:05:20.449> first<00:05:20.710> client<00:05:21.182> was<00:05:21.981> New<00:05:22.013> York<00:05:22.238> City,<00:05:23.281> and<00:05:23.940> we<00:05:24.100> were<00:05:24.196> doing<00:05:24.502> demos<00:05:24.967> all<00:05:25.064> the<00:05:25.144> way<00:05:25.369> up<00:05:25.465> to<00:05:25.625> Deputy<00:05:25.947> Mayor's<00:05:26.268> at<00:05:26.428> the<00:05:26.573> time.

00:05:27.617 --> 00:05:36.721
And<00:05:27.857> our<00:05:27.954> investors<00:05:28.435> at<00:05:28.580> that<00:05:28.757> point<00:05:29.238> and<00:05:29.319> advisors<00:05:29.800> were<00:05:29.897> saying,<00:05:30.603> oh,<00:05:30.683> don't<00:05:30.860> even<00:05:31.021> say<00:05:31.229> it's<00:05:31.326> an<00:05:31.550> AI<00:05:31.647> company,<00:05:32.995> because<00:05:33.557> AI<00:05:34.135> still<00:05:34.441> didn't<00:05:34.697> have<00:05:35.179> that<00:05:35.741> cachet<00:05:36.143> at<00:05:36.287> that<00:05:36.464> point.

00:05:36.785 --> 00:05:51.038
And<00:05:36.849> in<00:05:37.026> fact,<00:05:37.250> some<00:05:37.411> of<00:05:37.507> the—<00:05:37.668> some<00:05:37.829> people<00:05:38.134> actually<00:05:38.390> didn't<00:05:38.567> even<00:05:38.792> like<00:05:39.498> if<00:05:39.595> it's<00:05:39.836> an<00:05:39.916> AI<00:05:40.060> company,<00:05:40.462> because<00:05:41.265> AI<00:05:41.361> has<00:05:41.505> historically,<00:05:43.352> uh,<00:05:44.572> been<00:05:45.841> at<00:05:46.001> many<00:05:46.258> times<00:05:47.503> thought<00:05:47.760> to<00:05:47.888> produce<00:05:48.194> a<00:05:48.290> lot<00:05:48.403> of<00:05:48.467> value,<00:05:48.933> there<00:05:49.013> would<00:05:49.174> be<00:05:49.222> a<00:05:49.254> lot<00:05:49.367> of<00:05:49.511> hype,<00:05:49.849> and<00:05:49.993> it<00:05:50.074> wouldn't<00:05:50.379> produce<00:05:50.636> value.

00:05:51.761 --> 00:05:54.027
The<00:05:52.806> funding<00:05:53.111> dries<00:05:53.432> up<00:05:53.529> and<00:05:53.673> so<00:05:53.802> forth.

00:05:54.477 --> 00:06:03.096
So<00:05:54.718> when<00:05:54.879> we<00:05:55.039> went<00:05:55.280> and<00:05:55.377> demoed<00:05:55.762> our<00:05:55.859> system,<00:05:56.982> we<00:05:57.063> said<00:05:57.320> it's<00:05:57.465> a<00:05:57.481> natural<00:05:57.867> language<00:05:58.189> dialogue<00:05:58.527> system,<00:05:58.913> which<00:05:59.074> is<00:05:59.540> the<00:05:59.637> case,<00:06:00.763> but<00:06:01.005> without<00:06:01.391> really<00:06:02.034> using<00:06:02.517> AI<00:06:02.758> word<00:06:02.935> a<00:06:02.951> lot.

00:06:05.042 --> 00:06:07.940
And<00:06:05.090> when<00:06:05.187> you—<00:06:05.428> like,<00:06:05.605> part<00:06:05.782> of<00:06:05.847> your<00:06:05.959> mission<00:06:06.249> is<00:06:06.475> to<00:06:06.652> democratize<00:06:07.602> AI.

00:06:08.326 --> 00:06:09.920
That's<00:06:08.487> like<00:06:08.664> the<00:06:08.729> mission<00:06:09.148> of<00:06:09.228> Fuse<00:06:09.550> Machines.

00:06:10.033 --> 00:06:10.999
What<00:06:10.130> does<00:06:10.275> that<00:06:10.500> mean<00:06:10.758> to<00:06:10.903> you?

00:06:12.582 --> 00:06:23.922
So<00:06:13.247> democratizing<00:06:13.960> AI<00:06:14.430> for<00:06:14.592> us<00:06:14.916> means<00:06:15.419> making<00:06:15.970> AI<00:06:16.213> education<00:06:16.699> highly<00:06:16.780> accessible<00:06:18.472> for<00:06:18.713> everyone<00:06:20.300> and<00:06:20.476> making<00:06:21.101> AI<00:06:22.383> accessible<00:06:22.800> for<00:06:22.960> all<00:06:23.105> the<00:06:23.185> organizations.

00:06:25.269 --> 00:06:33.460
And<00:06:25.846> particularly,<00:06:26.471> I<00:06:26.567> think<00:06:27.272> we<00:06:27.689> have,<00:06:28.250> we<00:06:28.795> have<00:06:29.036> a<00:06:29.517> view<00:06:30.478> that<00:06:31.296> talent<00:06:31.697> is<00:06:31.841> everywhere<00:06:32.258> but<00:06:32.498> opportunities<00:06:33.059> are<00:06:33.219> not.

00:06:34.021 --> 00:06:47.372
And<00:06:34.117> especially<00:06:34.582> in<00:06:34.902> fast-paced<00:06:35.480> environment<00:06:36.025> today<00:06:36.345> where<00:06:36.650> AI<00:06:36.762> skills<00:06:38.589> can<00:06:38.830> produce<00:06:39.150> a<00:06:39.230> lot<00:06:39.391> of<00:06:39.471> value<00:06:39.775> for<00:06:39.952> a<00:06:40.272> lot<00:06:40.417> of<00:06:40.513> people<00:06:40.898> who<00:06:40.962> especially<00:06:41.555> who<00:06:41.651> live<00:06:41.875> in<00:06:41.955> underserved<00:06:42.501> community<00:06:43.062> to<00:06:43.158> express<00:06:44.184> their<00:06:44.296> skills<00:06:44.825> and<00:06:46.003> compete<00:06:46.406> in<00:06:46.551> the<00:06:46.648> world<00:06:46.760> market.

00:06:48.258 --> 00:07:02.857
I<00:06:48.419> think<00:06:49.369> fulfilling<00:06:49.788> our<00:06:49.869> mission<00:06:50.271> of<00:06:50.352> democratizing<00:06:51.141> AI<00:06:52.027> to<00:06:52.268> bring<00:06:52.445> opportunities<00:06:53.009> for<00:06:53.251> everyone<00:06:53.814> in<00:06:54.201> all<00:06:54.459> parts<00:06:54.765> of<00:06:55.104> the<00:06:55.185> world<00:06:56.625> would<00:06:57.127> have<00:06:57.305> a<00:06:57.435> chance<00:06:57.936> to<00:06:58.179> reduce<00:06:59.231> poverty,<00:07:00.607> bring<00:07:01.417> a<00:07:01.498> better<00:07:01.724> quality<00:07:02.064> of<00:07:02.226> life<00:07:02.372> for<00:07:02.485> everyone.

00:07:02.954 --> 00:07:04.715
And<00:07:03.100> that's<00:07:03.359> what<00:07:03.570> democratizing<00:07:04.101> AI<00:07:04.184> means<00:07:04.516> for<00:07:04.665> us.

00:07:06.387 --> 00:07:07.543
So<00:07:06.550> did<00:07:06.713> you<00:07:06.794> grow<00:07:06.973> up<00:07:07.136> in<00:07:07.218> Nepal?

00:07:07.934 --> 00:07:08.472
Yes,<00:07:08.260> I<00:07:08.341> did.

00:07:08.765 --> 00:07:09.025
I<00:07:08.846> did.

00:07:09.416 --> 00:07:10.312
So<00:07:09.498> I<00:07:09.579> grew<00:07:09.742> up<00:07:09.840> in<00:07:09.970> Nepal.

00:07:10.703 --> 00:07:12.315
I<00:07:10.963> was<00:07:11.208> born<00:07:11.436> and<00:07:11.485> raised<00:07:11.696> in<00:07:11.843> Kathmandu.

00:07:12.900 --> 00:07:25.623
Grew<00:07:13.012> up<00:07:13.157> in<00:07:13.253> Nepal,<00:07:13.719> and<00:07:14.861> after<00:07:15.102> high<00:07:15.263> school<00:07:15.520> I<00:07:15.552> had<00:07:15.729> applied<00:07:16.051> for<00:07:16.211> college<00:07:16.533> this<00:07:16.710> year<00:07:16.935> and<00:07:17.192> got<00:07:17.819> a<00:07:18.092> scholarship<00:07:18.800> to<00:07:18.944> come<00:07:19.121> to<00:07:19.282> the<00:07:19.427> US,<00:07:20.970> up<00:07:21.115> in<00:07:21.308> Maine,<00:07:22.097> to<00:07:22.258> Bates<00:07:22.564> College<00:07:23.385> to<00:07:23.627> study<00:07:24.899> math<00:07:25.092> and<00:07:25.237> physics.

00:07:27.234 --> 00:07:27.958
That's<00:07:27.475> incredible.

00:07:28.361 --> 00:07:31.603
I<00:07:28.763> assume<00:07:29.246> you<00:07:29.279> still<00:07:29.424> have<00:07:29.585> family<00:07:30.052> out<00:07:30.213> there<00:07:30.470> and<00:07:30.551> all<00:07:31.344> that.

00:07:31.684 --> 00:07:37.111
Yeah,<00:07:32.397> my<00:07:33.288> mom,<00:07:34.017> my<00:07:34.276> brother,<00:07:34.616> sister,<00:07:35.653> most<00:07:35.880> of<00:07:35.912> my<00:07:35.993> relatives<00:07:36.528> are<00:07:36.560> still<00:07:36.949> there.

00:07:37.678 --> 00:07:42.095
But<00:07:37.986> I<00:07:38.002> mean,<00:07:38.326> now<00:07:38.650> my<00:07:39.222> wife<00:07:39.543> and<00:07:39.704> kids,<00:07:40.651> uh,<00:07:40.907> and<00:07:41.068> some<00:07:41.309> relatives<00:07:41.870> are<00:07:41.951> here.

00:07:42.994 --> 00:07:43.604
Oh,<00:07:43.154> that's<00:07:43.395> great.

00:07:44.262 --> 00:07:48.018
Um,<00:07:45.080> what<00:07:45.177> does<00:07:45.321> a<00:07:45.385> typical<00:07:45.723> day<00:07:45.947> look<00:07:46.108> like<00:07:46.348> for<00:07:46.429> you<00:07:46.846> as<00:07:46.926> CEO<00:07:47.408> of<00:07:47.488> this<00:07:47.713> company?

00:07:49.318 --> 00:07:59.783
Uh,<00:07:49.735> it<00:07:50.152> has<00:07:50.377> changed,<00:07:50.794> especially<00:07:51.581> since<00:07:52.062> the<00:07:52.127> announcement,<00:07:52.945> because<00:07:53.282> a<00:07:53.427> lot<00:07:53.491> of<00:07:53.651> the<00:07:53.748> focus<00:07:54.133> has<00:07:54.374> been<00:07:55.192> on<00:07:55.417> finance,<00:07:56.316> uh,<00:07:56.942> and<00:07:57.182> audit<00:07:58.306> and<00:07:58.483> S-4<00:07:58.804> filing<00:07:59.205> and<00:07:59.349> so<00:07:59.590> forth.

00:08:00.152 --> 00:08:05.192
Uh,<00:08:00.328> so<00:08:00.569> these<00:08:00.810> days<00:08:01.147> it's<00:08:01.580> a<00:08:01.612> lot<00:08:01.789> of—<00:08:01.869> it's<00:08:02.591> a<00:08:02.656> ton<00:08:02.880> of<00:08:02.961> meetings,<00:08:03.859> mostly<00:08:04.100> to<00:08:04.180> do<00:08:04.325> with<00:08:04.485> finance<00:08:04.887> meetings.

00:08:05.930 --> 00:08:18.039
Uh,<00:08:06.026> but<00:08:06.652> typically<00:08:07.150> otherwise,<00:08:07.728> in<00:08:08.835> a<00:08:08.899> regular,<00:08:09.702> more<00:08:09.878> regular<00:08:10.360> day<00:08:11.404> A<00:08:11.548> typical<00:08:11.886> day<00:08:13.476> is,<00:08:14.601> you<00:08:14.681> know,<00:08:14.794> a<00:08:14.810> sequence<00:08:15.244> of<00:08:15.340> things<00:08:15.581> from<00:08:15.758> a<00:08:15.886> morning,<00:08:16.304> afternoon,<00:08:17.509> and<00:08:17.605> in<00:08:17.686> the<00:08:17.750> evening.

00:08:18.312 --> 00:08:29.768
And<00:08:18.361> especially<00:08:19.421> our<00:08:19.598> company<00:08:20.771> has<00:08:21.028> a<00:08:21.590> lot<00:08:21.751> of<00:08:21.847> distributed<00:08:22.490> employees,<00:08:22.988> so<00:08:23.213> a<00:08:23.277> lot<00:08:23.390> of<00:08:23.470> the<00:08:23.550> morning<00:08:24.000> time<00:08:24.418> gets<00:08:24.723> spent<00:08:25.783> on<00:08:25.944> communicating<00:08:26.651> with<00:08:27.294> employees<00:08:28.676> from<00:08:28.900> different<00:08:29.158> time<00:08:29.399> zones.

00:08:30.218 --> 00:08:37.078
So<00:08:30.266> there's<00:08:30.459> a<00:08:30.523> lot<00:08:30.700> of<00:08:30.861> stacked<00:08:31.327> sequence<00:08:31.728> of<00:08:31.873> meetings<00:08:32.355> in<00:08:32.435> the<00:08:32.467> morning,<00:08:34.058> but<00:08:34.203> I<00:08:34.283> try<00:08:34.460> to<00:08:34.604> wake<00:08:34.765> up<00:08:35.167> earlier<00:08:35.665> before<00:08:35.970> all<00:08:36.066> the<00:08:36.291> meeting<00:08:36.629> starts.

00:08:37.737 --> 00:08:41.738
And<00:08:38.139> try<00:08:38.332> to<00:08:38.460> get<00:08:38.894> through<00:08:39.119> all<00:08:39.280> the<00:08:39.424> emails<00:08:40.067> and<00:08:40.485> chat<00:08:40.742> messages<00:08:41.272> and<00:08:41.320> so<00:08:41.674> forth.

00:08:42.413 --> 00:08:48.535
So,<00:08:43.763> uh,<00:08:44.004> early<00:08:44.164> morning,<00:08:44.646> catch<00:08:44.887> up<00:08:45.048> with<00:08:45.209> all<00:08:45.932> the<00:08:46.108> emails<00:08:46.655> and<00:08:46.992> chat<00:08:47.249> messages<00:08:47.876> and<00:08:48.037> so<00:08:48.261> forth.

00:08:49.322 --> 00:08:54.351
Then<00:08:49.563> meetings,<00:08:50.543> especially<00:08:51.234> with<00:08:51.491> employees<00:08:53.017> that<00:08:53.162> are<00:08:53.258> in<00:08:53.564> different<00:08:53.805> time<00:08:54.046> zones.

00:08:55.106 --> 00:09:02.112
Then,<00:08:56.215> uh,<00:08:57.822> usually<00:08:58.625> some<00:08:58.882> strategy<00:09:00.312> meetings<00:09:01.115> and<00:09:01.292> metrics<00:09:01.694> meetings.

00:09:02.819 --> 00:09:07.606
Then<00:09:05.368> external<00:09:05.771> meetings<00:09:06.898> during<00:09:07.123> the<00:09:07.220> daytime.

00:09:08.668 --> 00:09:10.487
So<00:09:08.894> that's<00:09:09.151> usually<00:09:09.473> how<00:09:09.795> the<00:09:09.875> sequence<00:09:10.342> goes.

00:09:12.210 --> 00:09:16.289
And<00:09:12.307> then<00:09:13.440> how<00:09:13.618> do<00:09:13.699> you<00:09:13.861> decide<00:09:14.508> each<00:09:14.751> day<00:09:15.156> where<00:09:15.398> to<00:09:15.479> spend<00:09:15.787> your<00:09:15.884> time?

00:09:17.001 --> 00:09:21.279
At<00:09:17.163> what,<00:09:17.600> you<00:09:17.681> know,<00:09:17.891> in<00:09:18.053> what<00:09:18.215> aspect<00:09:18.571> of<00:09:18.620> the<00:09:18.717> company<00:09:19.121> and<00:09:19.267> what,<00:09:19.753> you<00:09:19.834> know,<00:09:20.012> what<00:09:20.271> area<00:09:20.643> of<00:09:20.805> the<00:09:20.870> company?

00:09:21.966 --> 00:09:23.913
Like<00:09:22.195> each<00:09:22.456> day,<00:09:22.866> how<00:09:22.964> do<00:09:23.029> you<00:09:23.127> make<00:09:23.438> that<00:09:23.602> decision?

00:09:23.994 --> 00:09:25.696
Like,<00:09:24.174> this<00:09:24.338> is<00:09:24.502> where<00:09:24.665> I'm<00:09:24.763> going<00:09:24.862> to<00:09:24.927> spend<00:09:25.303> my<00:09:25.483> time.

00:09:28.796 --> 00:09:38.457
I<00:09:29.051> wish<00:09:30.566> I<00:09:30.728> wish<00:09:31.035> I<00:09:31.132> had<00:09:33.218> a<00:09:33.396> more<00:09:33.638> strategic<00:09:34.366> way<00:09:34.673> of<00:09:34.851> being<00:09:35.094> able<00:09:35.255> to<00:09:35.401> decide<00:09:36.064> on<00:09:36.387> this<00:09:36.549> is<00:09:36.711> where<00:09:36.808> I'm<00:09:36.888> going<00:09:37.066> to<00:09:37.131> spend<00:09:38.020> each<00:09:38.328> day.

00:09:40.159 --> 00:09:54.990
And<00:09:40.304> every<00:09:40.547> week<00:09:40.773> in<00:09:40.854> the<00:09:40.935> beginning<00:09:41.339> of<00:09:41.582> the<00:09:41.760> week,<00:09:42.019> I<00:09:42.148> try<00:09:42.245> to<00:09:42.407> do<00:09:42.585> that<00:09:42.973> so<00:09:43.135> that<00:09:43.361> I<00:09:43.442> look<00:09:43.620> at<00:09:43.701> the<00:09:43.782> calendar<00:09:44.267> and<00:09:44.364> say,<00:09:45.237> well,<00:09:45.399> I'm<00:09:45.560> supposed<00:09:45.900> to<00:09:46.046> spend<00:09:47.178> 20%<00:09:47.679> of<00:09:47.825> time<00:09:48.083> strategy,<00:09:48.617> 20%<00:09:49.410> on<00:09:49.587> external<00:09:50.186> sales-related<00:09:52.014> meetings<00:09:52.353> and<00:09:52.434> so<00:09:52.661> forth,<00:09:52.903> and<00:09:53.001> try<00:09:53.243> to<00:09:53.340> see<00:09:53.987> if<00:09:54.052> the<00:09:54.214> week<00:09:54.440> looks<00:09:54.602> like<00:09:54.780> that.

00:09:55.039 --> 00:09:56.689
If<00:09:55.087> it's<00:09:55.346> not,<00:09:55.572> how<00:09:55.750> do<00:09:55.977> I<00:09:56.074> balance<00:09:56.478> it<00:09:56.624> out?

00:09:57.527 --> 00:10:06.217
Uh,<00:09:58.748> but<00:09:58.845> a<00:09:58.973> lot<00:09:59.086> of<00:09:59.166> it<00:09:59.310> is<00:09:59.616> already<00:10:00.981> on<00:10:01.061> the<00:10:01.158> weekly<00:10:01.399> basis,<00:10:01.864> pretty<00:10:02.025> much<00:10:02.282> already<00:10:02.507> set<00:10:02.828> with<00:10:02.941> a<00:10:02.989> lot<00:10:03.149> of<00:10:04.049> calendar<00:10:04.450> invites<00:10:04.997> on<00:10:05.093> what<00:10:05.254> the<00:10:05.334> day<00:10:05.414> is<00:10:05.655> going<00:10:05.768> to<00:10:05.896> look<00:10:06.057> like.

00:10:06.940 --> 00:10:22.103
But<00:10:07.181> one<00:10:07.422> thing<00:10:07.647> I<00:10:07.727> do<00:10:07.904> try<00:10:08.129> to<00:10:08.225> make<00:10:08.386> sure<00:10:08.530> on<00:10:08.643> a<00:10:08.787> daily<00:10:09.109> basis<00:10:09.574> is<00:10:09.896> I<00:10:10.072> do<00:10:10.233> make<00:10:10.619> sure<00:10:10.795> that<00:10:11.020> I<00:10:11.052> spend<00:10:11.438> time<00:10:12.402> with<00:10:12.546> the<00:10:12.642> senior<00:10:12.964> executives<00:10:13.526> on<00:10:13.606> strategy<00:10:14.731> and<00:10:14.891> metrics,<00:10:15.855> particularly<00:10:16.722> on<00:10:17.285> how<00:10:17.461> we<00:10:17.606> are<00:10:17.686> looking<00:10:18.264> forward,<00:10:19.614> uh,<00:10:20.176> from<00:10:20.417> growth<00:10:20.674> perspective<00:10:21.621> and<00:10:21.702> so<00:10:21.943> forth.

00:10:24.178 --> 00:10:32.278
And,<00:10:24.744> uh,<00:10:25.067> I<00:10:25.084> also<00:10:25.407> do<00:10:25.666> sometimes,<00:10:27.250> uh,<00:10:28.220> I<00:10:28.317> used<00:10:28.495> to<00:10:28.640> do<00:10:28.802> more<00:10:29.109> office<00:10:29.432> hours<00:10:29.950> as<00:10:30.160> well<00:10:30.823> in<00:10:30.968> which<00:10:31.146> employees<00:10:31.534> can<00:10:31.712> come<00:10:31.874> in<00:10:31.954> and<00:10:32.100> chat.

00:10:34.141 --> 00:10:36.343
I<00:10:34.157> want<00:10:34.270> to<00:10:34.319> go<00:10:34.400> back<00:10:34.562> to<00:10:34.659> the<00:10:34.805> AI<00:10:35.047> thing<00:10:35.355> just,<00:10:35.679> just<00:10:35.922> real<00:10:36.084> quick.

00:10:36.813 --> 00:10:39.371
Um,<00:10:37.784> what<00:10:37.833> do<00:10:37.946> you<00:10:38.043> think<00:10:38.222> the<00:10:38.303> future<00:10:38.853> of<00:10:38.999> that<00:10:39.193> is?

00:10:39.420 --> 00:10:46.989
Like,<00:10:39.647> what,<00:10:39.890> what<00:10:39.987> does<00:10:40.295> AI<00:10:40.618> look<00:10:40.797> like<00:10:41.040> in<00:10:41.185> 10<00:10:41.444> years,<00:10:42.643> and<00:10:42.805> how<00:10:42.902> will,<00:10:43.532> um,<00:10:43.774> that<00:10:44.033> change,<00:10:44.986> uh,<00:10:45.551> our<00:10:45.794> lives<00:10:46.295> as<00:10:46.440> human<00:10:46.698> beings?

00:10:47.910 --> 00:10:49.009
I<00:10:47.926> know<00:10:48.072> that's<00:10:48.298> a<00:10:48.395> giant<00:10:48.637> question.

00:10:49.372 --> 00:10:50.226
That's<00:10:49.614> a<00:10:49.678> giant<00:10:50.000> question.

00:10:50.274 --> 00:10:57.635
It's<00:10:50.419> hard<00:10:50.645> to<00:10:50.725> predict<00:10:51.064> even<00:10:51.305> 10<00:10:51.611> months<00:10:52.030> these<00:10:52.272> days<00:10:52.916> with<00:10:54.027> the<00:10:54.124> speed<00:10:54.510> at<00:10:54.688> which<00:10:54.849> development<00:10:55.348> is<00:10:55.541> happening,<00:10:56.620> let<00:10:56.782> alone<00:10:57.104> 10<00:10:57.329> years.

00:10:59.640 --> 00:11:11.806
But<00:11:00.406> I<00:11:00.487> think<00:11:01.465> some<00:11:01.873> of<00:11:01.955> the<00:11:02.118> automation<00:11:02.607> that's<00:11:02.851> coming,<00:11:03.177> particularly<00:11:03.732> with<00:11:03.895> language<00:11:04.172> and<00:11:04.384> vision<00:11:05.902> being<00:11:06.162> integrated<00:11:06.794> with<00:11:07.362> our<00:11:07.605> daily<00:11:07.930> lives,<00:11:09.146> will<00:11:09.308> be<00:11:09.390> much<00:11:09.714> more<00:11:10.703> integrated<00:11:11.271> and<00:11:11.417> fluid.

00:11:16.029 --> 00:11:31.903
It's<00:11:16.727> taken<00:11:17.458> decades,<00:11:18.366> essentially,<00:11:20.136> to<00:11:20.314> get<00:11:20.541> to<00:11:20.639> a<00:11:20.720> place<00:11:21.207> where<00:11:22.083> AI<00:11:22.262> systems,<00:11:23.490> particularly<00:11:23.764> language<00:11:24.103> systems,<00:11:25.767> is<00:11:26.251> really<00:11:26.655> be<00:11:26.897> able<00:11:27.155> to<00:11:27.317> understand<00:11:29.400> what<00:11:29.578> we<00:11:29.659> are<00:11:29.820> asking<00:11:30.208> for<00:11:30.450> and<00:11:30.547> be<00:11:30.692> able<00:11:30.870> to<00:11:31.015> provide<00:11:31.274> fluent<00:11:31.613> answers.

00:11:33.870 --> 00:11:36.934
And<00:11:34.534> the<00:11:34.632> new<00:11:34.940> LLM<00:11:35.361> GenAI<00:11:35.686> systems<00:11:36.091> is<00:11:36.237> able<00:11:36.399> to<00:11:36.496> do<00:11:36.723> that.

00:11:37.939 --> 00:11:46.745
As<00:11:38.199> it<00:11:38.361> is,<00:11:38.912> as<00:11:39.172> those<00:11:39.561> become<00:11:39.902> even<00:11:40.226> more<00:11:40.534> capable<00:11:41.264> on<00:11:42.593> doing<00:11:43.631> actions,<00:11:44.296> external<00:11:44.766> actions<00:11:45.172> for<00:11:45.415> you,<00:11:46.647> right?

00:11:46.874 --> 00:11:50.588
So<00:11:46.956> for<00:11:47.053> example,<00:11:47.458> in<00:11:48.010> ChatGPT,<00:11:48.658> you<00:11:48.821> can<00:11:49.064> ask,<00:11:49.794> where<00:11:49.891> do<00:11:49.923> you<00:11:50.037> want<00:11:50.199> to<00:11:50.296> travel?

00:11:52.260 --> 00:12:00.029
And,<00:11:52.614> or<00:11:52.759> let's<00:11:52.920> say<00:11:53.001> you're<00:11:53.098> trying<00:11:53.404> for<00:11:53.888> a<00:11:54.065> trip<00:11:54.387> to<00:11:55.355> Europe<00:11:55.677> and<00:11:55.758> say,<00:11:56.628> give<00:11:56.741> me<00:11:56.950> a<00:11:57.031> really<00:11:57.289> good<00:11:57.837> itinerary<00:11:58.321> for<00:11:59.143> 4-day<00:11:59.465> vacations.

00:12:01.863 --> 00:12:06.731
It<00:12:01.928> will<00:12:02.155> give<00:12:02.268> you<00:12:02.333> a<00:12:02.414> really<00:12:02.642> good<00:12:02.820> itinerary,<00:12:03.307> but<00:12:03.486> you<00:12:03.615> can't<00:12:03.859> really<00:12:04.037> just<00:12:04.264> say,<00:12:04.768> okay,<00:12:05.011> just<00:12:05.822> book<00:12:05.985> all<00:12:06.082> the<00:12:06.131> hotels.

00:12:06.958 --> 00:12:16.339
Here's<00:12:07.429> the<00:12:08.432> parameters<00:12:09.543> on<00:12:09.785> my,<00:12:11.975> on<00:12:12.055> the<00:12:12.216> spend<00:12:12.619> side,<00:12:13.569> here<00:12:13.827> are<00:12:14.052> the<00:12:14.117> hotel,<00:12:14.536> airline,<00:12:15.502> hotels,<00:12:16.050> airlines.

00:12:17.128 --> 00:12:19.525
You<00:12:18.576> can't<00:12:18.801> do<00:12:18.882> that<00:12:19.204> yet.

00:12:19.767 --> 00:12:22.824
And<00:12:20.008> it's,<00:12:20.668> people<00:12:20.845> are<00:12:20.974> trying<00:12:21.151> to<00:12:21.231> do<00:12:21.456> it<00:12:21.617> with<00:12:21.859> agents<00:12:22.277> and<00:12:22.438> so<00:12:22.599> forth.

00:12:23.964 --> 00:12:33.769
But<00:12:24.190> I<00:12:24.286> think<00:12:24.609> in<00:12:24.770> 10<00:12:24.996> years<00:12:25.254> that<00:12:25.803> probably<00:12:26.125> becomes<00:12:26.642> much<00:12:27.255> more<00:12:27.432> fluid<00:12:27.981> where<00:12:28.319> you're<00:12:28.949> just<00:12:29.287> having<00:12:29.529> a<00:12:29.610> chat,<00:12:30.901> it<00:12:31.046> will,<00:12:32.111> and<00:12:32.578> it<00:12:32.659> will<00:12:32.820> able<00:12:32.998> to<00:12:33.143> do<00:12:33.385> all<00:12:33.469> of<00:12:33.609> it.

00:12:34.096 --> 00:12:35.390
As<00:12:34.209> if<00:12:34.355> your<00:12:34.516> assistant<00:12:34.921> was<00:12:35.083> doing<00:12:35.293> it.

00:12:35.892 --> 00:12:43.628
So<00:12:36.038> I<00:12:36.054> think<00:12:36.280> these<00:12:36.556> assistant<00:12:36.960> systems<00:12:38.870> will<00:12:39.129> be<00:12:39.371> able<00:12:39.679> to<00:12:40.003> automate<00:12:40.504> and<00:12:40.650> help<00:12:40.909> you<00:12:41.135> out<00:12:41.556> in<00:12:41.702> big<00:12:41.945> chunks<00:12:42.284> of<00:12:42.365> things<00:12:42.673> that<00:12:42.835> you<00:12:42.932> do<00:12:43.094> in<00:12:43.175> daily<00:12:43.417> lives.

00:12:46.018 --> 00:12:56.635
And<00:12:46.099> then,<00:12:46.424> as<00:12:48.210> you<00:12:48.372> think<00:12:48.486> about<00:12:49.443> rise<00:12:49.768> of<00:12:49.914> AI<00:12:50.499> and<00:12:50.645> the<00:12:50.742> way<00:12:51.067> that<00:12:51.132> it's<00:12:51.229> gonna<00:12:51.456> change<00:12:51.830> things,<00:12:52.041> like<00:12:52.203> what<00:12:52.284> do<00:12:52.366> you<00:12:52.593> think<00:12:52.771> in<00:12:52.853> terms<00:12:53.242> of<00:12:54.779> what<00:12:55.021> will<00:12:55.263> starting<00:12:55.602> a<00:12:55.747> company<00:12:56.248> be<00:12:56.409> like?

00:12:56.732 --> 00:13:01.712
Like<00:12:56.958> what<00:12:57.120> will<00:12:57.233> it<00:12:57.378> be<00:12:57.523> like<00:12:57.862> to,<00:12:58.589> like,<00:12:59.707> Will<00:12:59.804> you<00:12:59.901> need<00:13:00.224> as<00:13:00.370> many<00:13:00.612> employees,<00:13:01.243> obviously?

00:13:01.809 --> 00:13:07.534
Like,<00:13:02.068> I<00:13:02.084> mean,<00:13:02.634> there's<00:13:02.779> just<00:13:02.941> so<00:13:03.022> many<00:13:03.200> questions<00:13:03.588> that<00:13:03.685> go<00:13:03.798> around<00:13:04.397> this<00:13:05.302> for<00:13:05.448> entrepreneurs<00:13:06.192> and<00:13:06.273> people<00:13:06.580> who<00:13:06.677> are<00:13:06.758> building<00:13:07.097> in<00:13:07.227> this<00:13:07.405> thing.

00:13:07.647 --> 00:13:14.322
Like,<00:13:08.294> I<00:13:08.375> believe<00:13:08.618> it<00:13:08.682> was<00:13:08.779> Sam<00:13:08.990> Altman<00:13:09.200> who<00:13:09.264> said<00:13:09.490> we're<00:13:09.652> about<00:13:09.911> to<00:13:09.975> see<00:13:10.153> the<00:13:10.298> first<00:13:11.219> solo<00:13:12.334> founder<00:13:13.126> billion-dollar<00:13:13.853> company.

00:13:15.162 --> 00:13:16.035
Do<00:13:15.211> you<00:13:15.308> think<00:13:15.469> that's<00:13:15.809> possible?

00:13:21.506 --> 00:13:24.788
So<00:13:22.146> solo<00:13:22.475> founder<00:13:22.983> with<00:13:23.164> everything<00:13:23.623> else<00:13:23.869> being<00:13:24.050> machines<00:13:24.526> helping?

00:13:26.380 --> 00:14:01.461
Yeah,<00:13:26.952> uh,<00:13:28.941> I'm<00:13:29.087> not<00:13:29.216> 100%<00:13:29.717> sure<00:13:30.040> when<00:13:30.234> is<00:13:30.363> that<00:13:30.622> possible,<00:13:31.979> uh,<00:13:32.221> because<00:13:32.480> building<00:13:32.803> a<00:13:32.884> company,<00:13:33.934> there's<00:13:34.581> a—<00:13:34.726> there's<00:13:35.065> still<00:13:35.292> a<00:13:35.372> lot<00:13:35.550> of<00:13:35.680> human<00:13:36.179> involved,<00:13:36.919> from<00:13:38.111> relationships<00:13:40.944> when<00:13:41.041> you<00:13:41.170> talk<00:13:41.363> to<00:13:42.635> potential<00:13:43.037> clients,<00:13:44.390> uh,<00:13:45.211> just<00:13:45.372> even<00:13:45.617> having<00:13:45.927> a<00:13:46.090> lot<00:13:46.269> of<00:13:46.367> employees<00:13:47.248> be<00:13:47.492> part<00:13:47.655> of<00:13:47.753> a<00:13:47.884> culture<00:13:48.960> where<00:13:49.270> there's<00:13:49.514> a<00:13:49.596> common<00:13:50.020> goal<00:13:50.232> and<00:13:50.766> And<00:13:50.830> sometimes,<00:13:51.263> as<00:13:51.664> we<00:13:51.824> as<00:13:51.984> humans,<00:13:53.267> sometimes<00:13:53.684> efficiency<00:13:54.213> goes<00:13:54.405> up<00:13:54.550> even<00:13:54.790> more<00:13:55.191> when<00:13:55.768> two<00:13:55.977> of<00:13:56.137> you<00:13:56.298> are<00:13:56.458> doing<00:13:56.698> the<00:13:56.730> same<00:13:56.955> thing<00:13:57.115> together<00:13:57.516> and<00:13:57.660> you<00:13:57.821> are<00:13:58.719> gaining<00:13:59.039> from<00:13:59.280> each<00:13:59.424> other's<00:13:59.761> energy<00:14:00.242> and<00:14:00.386> your<00:14:00.466> efficiency<00:14:00.963> goes<00:14:01.188> up,<00:14:01.364> right?

00:14:01.525 --> 00:14:04.748
There's<00:14:01.926> something<00:14:02.262> about<00:14:03.369> a<00:14:03.513> team<00:14:04.010> building<00:14:04.347> a<00:14:04.411> company.

00:14:05.597 --> 00:14:15.009
Um,<00:14:06.495> does<00:14:06.656> it<00:14:06.736> have<00:14:06.896> to<00:14:07.040> be<00:14:07.682> as<00:14:07.842> many<00:14:08.018> people<00:14:08.323> as<00:14:08.500> it<00:14:08.644> is<00:14:08.740> right<00:14:08.981> now,<00:14:09.205> hundreds,<00:14:09.862> or<00:14:10.023> is<00:14:10.167> it—<00:14:10.488> can<00:14:10.664> be<00:14:11.049> just<00:14:11.225> a<00:14:11.306> team<00:14:11.530> of<00:14:11.706> tens<00:14:11.947> of<00:14:12.492> people<00:14:12.989> that<00:14:13.149> can<00:14:13.310> build<00:14:14.111> a<00:14:14.192> billion-dollar<00:14:14.673> company?

00:14:15.859 --> 00:14:26.017
Uh,<00:14:16.196> those<00:14:16.501> are<00:14:16.533> some<00:14:16.773> of<00:14:16.901> the<00:14:17.062> questions<00:14:17.543> that<00:14:17.719> probably<00:14:18.200> become<00:14:20.269> very<00:14:20.528> apparent<00:14:20.996> as<00:14:21.157> the<00:14:21.190> number<00:14:21.480> of<00:14:21.577> people<00:14:22.401> it<00:14:22.530> requires<00:14:23.273> to<00:14:23.353> build<00:14:23.595> a<00:14:23.741> company<00:14:24.144> and<00:14:24.225> scale<00:14:24.500> a<00:14:24.548> company<00:14:24.968> reduces<00:14:25.614> to<00:14:25.694> a<00:14:25.775> bit.

00:14:28.343 --> 00:14:36.509
But<00:14:29.717> a<00:14:29.863> company<00:14:30.186> just<00:14:30.364> with<00:14:30.591> one,<00:14:31.189> or<00:14:31.334> just<00:14:31.723> one<00:14:31.900> founder,<00:14:32.466> and<00:14:32.628> everything<00:14:33.097> else<00:14:33.356> being<00:14:33.534> an<00:14:33.615> assistant<00:14:34.067> system,<00:14:34.973> I<00:14:35.054> think<00:14:35.183> it'll<00:14:35.296> be<00:14:35.377> a<00:14:35.458> while<00:14:35.765> before<00:14:36.089> we<00:14:36.121> see<00:14:36.348> that.

00:14:37.746 --> 00:14:39.544
Yeah,<00:14:38.383> yeah,<00:14:38.465> yeah,<00:14:38.563> that<00:14:38.727> makes<00:14:38.923> a<00:14:38.955> lot<00:14:39.054> of<00:14:39.152> sense.

00:14:39.953 --> 00:14:40.983
What<00:14:40.018> are<00:14:40.100> you<00:14:40.263> reading<00:14:40.525> these<00:14:40.770> days?

00:14:42.832 --> 00:14:46.966
I'm<00:14:43.529> reading<00:14:45.070> The,<00:14:45.548> a<00:14:45.630> book<00:14:45.812> called<00:14:46.125> Atomic<00:14:46.537> Habits.

00:14:49.186 --> 00:14:53.342
It's,<00:14:50.495> I<00:14:50.577> got<00:14:50.757> it<00:14:50.839> as<00:14:50.937> a<00:14:51.019> gift<00:14:51.722> for<00:14:51.853> my<00:14:52.049> Father's<00:14:52.475> Day<00:14:52.720> from<00:14:52.884> my<00:14:53.113> daughter.

00:14:55.272 --> 00:15:01.958
And<00:14:56.065> I<00:14:56.146> was<00:14:56.243> talking<00:14:56.567> to<00:14:56.648> her<00:14:56.810> about<00:14:57.295> how<00:14:57.538> she<00:14:57.716> needs<00:14:57.943> to<00:14:58.040> improve<00:14:59.481> habit<00:14:59.805> of<00:14:59.966> cleaning<00:15:00.355> her<00:15:00.452> room<00:15:01.019> and<00:15:01.164> so<00:15:01.342> forth.

00:15:03.570 --> 00:15:05.884
She<00:15:03.829> gave<00:15:04.071> me<00:15:04.897> Atomic<00:15:05.302> Habits<00:15:05.787> book.

00:15:05.965 --> 00:15:07.325
It's<00:15:06.694> a<00:15:06.759> good<00:15:07.001> book.

00:15:08.070 --> 00:15:10.288
Sort<00:15:08.361> of<00:15:08.701> one-third<00:15:09.672> way<00:15:09.834> into<00:15:10.158> it.

00:15:12.435 --> 00:15:13.401
Yeah,<00:15:12.798> that's<00:15:12.953> a<00:15:12.970> great<00:15:13.143> book.

00:15:15.264 --> 00:15:15.569
Yeah.

00:15:15.666 --> 00:15:20.828
In<00:15:15.762> your<00:15:15.891> opinion,<00:15:16.213> what<00:15:16.389> are<00:15:16.454> like<00:15:16.695> the<00:15:16.775> 3<00:15:17.676> most<00:15:18.078> essential<00:15:18.721> traits<00:15:19.767> of<00:15:19.927> being<00:15:20.169> a<00:15:20.410> leader?

00:15:22.501 --> 00:15:23.787
3<00:15:22.742> most<00:15:23.063> important<00:15:23.610> traits.

00:15:25.922 --> 00:15:28.349
The<00:15:26.003> first<00:15:26.407> one<00:15:26.634> I<00:15:26.715> would<00:15:26.876> say<00:15:27.944> is<00:15:28.106> grit.

00:15:29.401 --> 00:15:36.349
Is<00:15:29.643> basically,<00:15:31.245> as<00:15:31.423> a<00:15:31.585> leader,<00:15:32.944> you're<00:15:33.041> gonna<00:15:33.365> go<00:15:33.591> through<00:15:33.850> lots<00:15:34.174> of<00:15:34.416> ups<00:15:34.659> and<00:15:34.870> downs,<00:15:35.231> and<00:15:35.330> especially<00:15:35.873> downs.

00:15:36.695 --> 00:15:40.880
And<00:15:36.876> especially<00:15:37.599> as<00:15:37.714> a<00:15:37.780> CEO,<00:15:38.356> you<00:15:38.504> are<00:15:38.856> quite<00:15:39.434> lonely,<00:15:40.703> right?

00:15:42.148 --> 00:15:56.508
And<00:15:43.032> having<00:15:44.156> grit<00:15:44.477> so<00:15:44.654> that<00:15:44.911> you<00:15:45.120> are<00:15:45.200> not<00:15:46.646> too<00:15:47.385> low<00:15:47.786> when<00:15:48.027> things<00:15:48.268> go<00:15:48.493> wrong<00:15:48.894> and<00:15:49.794> too<00:15:50.292> ecstatic<00:15:50.902> when<00:15:50.998> things<00:15:51.304> go<00:15:51.866> up<00:15:52.267> high,<00:15:53.793> like<00:15:53.889> being<00:15:54.114> able<00:15:54.211> to<00:15:54.307> manage<00:15:54.676> the<00:15:54.837> lows<00:15:55.014> and<00:15:55.158> highs,<00:15:55.496> and<00:15:55.640> particularly<00:15:56.202> lows.

00:15:57.343 --> 00:16:08.162
If<00:15:57.487> you<00:15:57.584> have<00:15:58.290> grit,<00:15:58.869> then<00:15:59.093> you<00:15:59.254> are<00:15:59.350> able<00:15:59.591> to<00:15:59.672> manage<00:16:00.876> lows<00:16:01.679> very<00:16:01.984> well<00:16:02.322> and<00:16:02.466> you<00:16:02.627> keep—<00:16:03.109> are<00:16:03.269> able<00:16:03.446> to<00:16:03.607> keep<00:16:04.008> going<00:16:04.394> through<00:16:05.356> lots<00:16:05.533> of<00:16:05.693> issues<00:16:06.238> and<00:16:06.639> try<00:16:06.831> to<00:16:06.959> come<00:16:07.120> out<00:16:07.280> winning<00:16:07.521> on<00:16:07.553> the<00:16:07.681> other<00:16:07.857> side.

00:16:09.380 --> 00:16:13.917
I<00:16:09.460> think<00:16:09.540> that,<00:16:09.925> I<00:16:09.941> would<00:16:10.085> say<00:16:10.182> that's<00:16:10.887> an<00:16:10.983> important<00:16:11.865> value<00:16:12.185> from<00:16:12.426> an<00:16:12.666> entrepreneur<00:16:13.291> perspective.

00:16:14.574 --> 00:16:34.483
Uh,<00:16:15.215> the<00:16:15.311> second<00:16:15.696> one<00:16:15.936> as<00:16:16.049> a<00:16:16.113> leader,<00:16:16.353> I<00:16:16.513> would<00:16:16.658> say,<00:16:17.475> is<00:16:17.780> empathy,<00:16:19.639> because<00:16:20.056> especially<00:16:22.589> as<00:16:22.701> a<00:16:22.765> leader,<00:16:24.112> you<00:16:24.288> have,<00:16:25.074> you<00:16:25.554> will<00:16:25.667> have<00:16:25.907> teams<00:16:26.196> reporting<00:16:26.532> to<00:16:26.757> you,<00:16:27.013> or<00:16:27.173> you<00:16:27.318> have<00:16:27.494> senior<00:16:27.751> executives<00:16:28.199> reporting<00:16:28.616> to<00:16:28.760> you,<00:16:29.883> and<00:16:30.059> there<00:16:30.203> will<00:16:30.363> be<00:16:30.460> a<00:16:30.684> lot<00:16:30.844> of<00:16:30.925> people<00:16:31.245> who<00:16:31.357> don't<00:16:31.566> report<00:16:31.902> to<00:16:32.047> you,<00:16:32.207> and<00:16:32.383> well,<00:16:32.688> there<00:16:32.848> are<00:16:32.928> people<00:16:33.185> whom<00:16:33.425> you<00:16:33.521> don't<00:16:33.810> know<00:16:33.906> as<00:16:34.147> well,<00:16:34.387> right?

00:16:34.547 --> 00:16:37.144
Like<00:16:34.868> right<00:16:35.092> now<00:16:35.189> in<00:16:35.333> FuseMissions,<00:16:35.990> there's<00:16:36.311> 400+<00:16:36.793> employees.

00:16:37.278 --> 00:16:46.564
I<00:16:37.294> don't<00:16:37.478> know<00:16:37.629> everyone,<00:16:39.980> but<00:16:41.142> having<00:16:41.948> empathy<00:16:42.352> allows<00:16:42.820> you<00:16:42.998> to<00:16:43.304> listen,<00:16:44.353> uh,<00:16:44.999> and<00:16:45.160> listen,<00:16:45.564> really<00:16:45.903> listen,<00:16:46.451> right?

00:16:46.613 --> 00:17:09.434
Like<00:16:46.855> when<00:16:46.952> somebody's<00:16:47.307> saying<00:16:48.146> this<00:16:48.259> is<00:16:48.323> not<00:16:48.566> working<00:16:48.953> out<00:16:49.437> and<00:16:49.598> they<00:16:49.760> are,<00:16:50.421> let's<00:16:50.647> say,<00:16:50.825> just<00:16:51.212> interns<00:16:51.712> or<00:16:52.100> trainees<00:16:52.600> or<00:16:53.100> employees<00:16:53.423> who<00:16:53.455> have<00:16:53.633> joined<00:16:54.117> just<00:16:54.294> 2<00:16:54.391> months<00:16:54.633> ago,<00:16:55.877> um,<00:16:56.602> you<00:16:56.698> can<00:16:57.181> brush<00:16:57.423> it<00:16:57.503> off<00:16:57.584> saying<00:16:57.986> this<00:16:58.308> is<00:16:59.097> first,<00:16:59.740> first<00:16:59.917> 6-month<00:17:00.400> employees,<00:17:00.947> they,<00:17:01.269> they<00:17:01.430> tend<00:17:01.543> to<00:17:01.688> complain,<00:17:02.155> or<00:17:02.675> Instead<00:17:02.902> of<00:17:03.160> brushing<00:17:03.484> off<00:17:04.131> people's<00:17:04.454> requests<00:17:04.794> and<00:17:05.004> asks,<00:17:05.812> if<00:17:05.909> you<00:17:06.702> have<00:17:06.960> empathy,<00:17:07.526> then<00:17:08.173> you're<00:17:08.351> more<00:17:08.577> inclined<00:17:09.062> to<00:17:09.208> listen.

00:17:10.512 --> 00:17:19.932
And<00:17:10.818> that<00:17:10.931> allows<00:17:11.399> to<00:17:11.722> build<00:17:11.899> up<00:17:12.060> a<00:17:12.125> really<00:17:12.367> good<00:17:12.528> culture<00:17:12.931> where<00:17:13.722> people<00:17:14.044> are<00:17:14.206> listening<00:17:14.545> to<00:17:14.706> each<00:17:14.867> other<00:17:16.464> and<00:17:16.964> working<00:17:17.287> together<00:17:17.690> to<00:17:17.787> solve<00:17:18.093> problems<00:17:18.739> instead<00:17:19.045> of<00:17:19.126> fighting<00:17:19.465> with<00:17:19.642> each<00:17:19.787> other.

00:17:23.463 --> 00:17:24.013
That's<00:17:23.646> number<00:17:23.880> 2.

00:17:28.616 --> 00:17:29.615
Those<00:17:28.858> are<00:17:28.938> the<00:17:29.035> top<00:17:29.277> 2,<00:17:29.422> I<00:17:29.454> would<00:17:29.550> say.

00:17:29.679 --> 00:17:31.064
Yeah,<00:17:29.905> yeah,<00:17:30.388> yeah,<00:17:30.791> yeah.

00:17:31.354 --> 00:17:32.353
No,<00:17:31.532> yeah,<00:17:31.709> you<00:17:31.773> don't<00:17:31.934> have<00:17:31.983> to<00:17:32.015> give<00:17:32.176> 3.

00:17:32.417 --> 00:17:34.318
Those,<00:17:32.659> those,<00:17:32.901> those,<00:17:33.142> those<00:17:33.625> 2<00:17:33.786> are<00:17:33.867> incredible.

00:17:35.135 --> 00:17:38.793
Um,<00:17:35.232> what<00:17:35.395> do<00:17:35.460> you<00:17:35.704> know<00:17:35.899> now<00:17:36.452> that<00:17:36.598> you<00:17:36.777> wish<00:17:37.086> you<00:17:37.167> had<00:17:37.265> known<00:17:37.574> at<00:17:37.655> the<00:17:37.753> beginning<00:17:38.094> of<00:17:38.224> your<00:17:38.403> career?

00:17:41.056 --> 00:17:46.118
Uh,<00:17:42.265> what<00:17:42.443> do<00:17:42.668> I<00:17:42.684> know<00:17:42.926> now<00:17:43.329> that<00:17:44.361> if<00:17:44.457> I<00:17:44.844> knew<00:17:45.650> in<00:17:45.682> the<00:17:45.763> beginning?

00:17:46.859 --> 00:17:49.857
Um,<00:17:48.584> sales<00:17:48.971> is<00:17:49.212> very<00:17:49.438> hard.

00:17:51.570 --> 00:17:54.194
Uh,<00:17:52.395> I<00:17:52.560> did<00:17:52.742> not<00:17:53.055> know<00:17:53.303> how<00:17:53.534> hard<00:17:53.814> sales<00:17:54.144> is.

00:17:56.383 --> 00:18:05.268
Um,<00:17:56.480> so<00:17:56.802> as,<00:17:57.108> as<00:17:57.269> a,<00:17:57.608> as<00:17:57.769> a<00:17:57.850> company,<00:17:59.606> uh,<00:18:00.267> growth<00:18:00.573> is<00:18:00.670> one<00:18:00.831> of<00:18:00.912> those<00:18:01.153> fundamental<00:18:01.878> metrics<00:18:02.845> that<00:18:03.007> defines<00:18:03.635> the<00:18:03.700> success,<00:18:05.107> right?

00:18:05.657 --> 00:18:13.520
If<00:18:05.754> there's<00:18:05.980> no<00:18:06.158> growth,<00:18:07.290> then,<00:18:09.554> then<00:18:10.040> people<00:18:10.266> don't<00:18:10.444> get<00:18:10.541> excited—<00:18:11.188> not<00:18:11.560> employees,<00:18:12.045> not<00:18:12.207> investors,<00:18:13.000> not<00:18:13.113> market.

00:18:14.741 --> 00:18:21.059
And<00:18:15.050> even<00:18:15.229> for<00:18:15.539> you,<00:18:15.864> as<00:18:16.434> fulfillment<00:18:17.166> around<00:18:17.980> potential<00:18:18.484> bigger<00:18:18.729> and<00:18:18.891> bigger<00:18:19.217> impact<00:18:19.624> in<00:18:19.689> the<00:18:19.786> world<00:18:20.402> you<00:18:20.498> need<00:18:20.723> that<00:18:20.883> growth.

00:18:22.006 --> 00:18:25.342
For<00:18:22.166> the<00:18:22.327> growth,<00:18:22.808> and<00:18:22.968> particularly<00:18:23.449> for<00:18:23.674> revenue<00:18:24.011> growth,<00:18:24.348> sales<00:18:24.669> is<00:18:24.813> quite<00:18:24.989> important.

00:18:26.401 --> 00:18:32.240
A<00:18:26.658> lot<00:18:26.834> of<00:18:26.914> technical<00:18:27.219> founders<00:18:27.620> like<00:18:27.845> me,<00:18:28.727> uh,<00:18:29.785> we<00:18:30.010> tend<00:18:30.186> to<00:18:30.331> undermine<00:18:31.293> how<00:18:31.470> hard<00:18:31.774> sales<00:18:32.175> is.

00:18:32.336 --> 00:18:38.094
Like,<00:18:32.528> in<00:18:32.609> the<00:18:32.689> very<00:18:32.913> beginning,<00:18:33.796> I<00:18:33.860> was<00:18:34.036> able<00:18:34.293> to<00:18:34.421> sell<00:18:34.662> to<00:18:35.560> the<00:18:35.720> government<00:18:36.202> entity,<00:18:36.587> and<00:18:36.651> I<00:18:36.683> was<00:18:36.827> like,<00:18:37.068> oh,<00:18:37.469> sales<00:18:37.742> is<00:18:37.886> easy.

00:18:38.929 --> 00:18:39.506
All<00:18:39.153> right.

00:18:40.998 --> 00:18:47.959
And<00:18:41.655> so<00:18:42.056> there<00:18:42.217> was<00:18:42.265> a<00:18:42.281> sequence<00:18:42.794> of<00:18:42.858> mistakes<00:18:43.340> I<00:18:43.500> did<00:18:43.741> because<00:18:44.382> of<00:18:44.607> this<00:18:45.489> not<00:18:45.986> being<00:18:46.371> appreciating<00:18:47.045> how<00:18:47.254> hard<00:18:47.510> sales<00:18:47.831> is.

00:18:48.746 --> 00:19:01.076
So<00:18:48.892> I<00:18:48.989> think<00:18:51.250> that's<00:18:51.459> something<00:18:51.734> I<00:18:51.799> underestimated<00:18:52.380> in<00:18:52.542> the<00:18:52.622> very<00:18:52.784> beginning,<00:18:53.171> and<00:18:53.252> I<00:18:53.414> wish<00:18:53.656> I<00:18:53.688> knew<00:18:54.625> how<00:18:55.432> important<00:18:55.949> sales<00:18:56.498> growth<00:18:56.821> is,<00:18:57.144> how<00:18:57.467> setting<00:18:57.855> up<00:18:57.920> the<00:18:57.969> structure<00:18:58.692> and<00:18:58.922> team<00:18:59.185> around<00:18:59.531> it<00:19:00.402> is,<00:19:00.583> and<00:19:00.731> so<00:19:00.911> forth.

00:19:03.192 --> 00:19:14.100
What<00:19:03.240> are<00:19:03.273> some<00:19:03.515> like<00:19:03.758> products<00:19:04.388> or<00:19:04.631> apps<00:19:05.052> or<00:19:05.213> tools<00:19:05.844> that<00:19:06.006> you<00:19:06.248> use<00:19:06.830> every<00:19:07.170> single<00:19:07.639> day<00:19:07.962> that<00:19:08.367> kind<00:19:08.593> of<00:19:08.690> help<00:19:09.030> and<00:19:09.175> benefit<00:19:09.725> you<00:19:11.261> as<00:19:11.423> you're,<00:19:11.924> you<00:19:12.005> know,<00:19:12.167> leading<00:19:12.490> this<00:19:12.620> company<00:19:13.401> or<00:19:13.484> just<00:19:13.717> your<00:19:13.900> life?

00:19:16.698 --> 00:19:22.108
Obviously<00:19:17.422> Gmail,<00:19:18.243> Google<00:19:18.485> Calendar,<00:19:20.015> Google<00:19:20.256> Drive,<00:19:21.142> right?

00:19:22.848 --> 00:19:26.484
So<00:19:23.074> some<00:19:23.299> of<00:19:23.332> those<00:19:23.654> is<00:19:24.362> obvious<00:19:24.845> to—<00:19:25.312> because<00:19:25.457> everybody<00:19:25.961> uses<00:19:26.383> it.

00:19:28.684 --> 00:19:35.654
So<00:19:29.457> besides<00:19:29.923> that,<00:19:31.066> for<00:19:32.596> chat,<00:19:32.918> we<00:19:33.063> use<00:19:33.304> actually,<00:19:34.367> unlike<00:19:34.528> a<00:19:34.544> lot<00:19:34.672> of<00:19:34.769> companies,<00:19:35.155> we<00:19:35.236> use<00:19:35.333> Slack.

00:19:35.880 --> 00:19:39.996
We<00:19:36.041> use<00:19:36.443> WorkChat,<00:19:37.989> but<00:19:38.311> that<00:19:38.440> might<00:19:38.554> be<00:19:38.702> changing<00:19:39.193> as<00:19:39.291> we<00:19:39.390> move<00:19:39.619> to<00:19:39.783> Teams.

00:19:41.936 --> 00:19:43.128
I<00:19:42.017> use<00:19:42.194> Notion<00:19:42.645> quite<00:19:42.806> a<00:19:42.886> bit.

00:19:43.869 --> 00:19:44.674
Oh<00:19:44.416> yeah.

00:19:45.157 --> 00:20:03.569
Yeah,<00:19:45.721> it's<00:19:46.075> a<00:19:46.107> very<00:19:46.284> good<00:19:46.445> mix<00:19:46.751> of<00:19:47.589> to-do<00:19:48.362> that<00:19:48.523> allows<00:19:48.861> you<00:19:49.006> to<00:19:49.167> create<00:19:49.408> to-do<00:19:49.650> in<00:19:49.747> many<00:19:49.908> different<00:19:50.214> ways<00:19:50.860> and<00:19:51.022> also<00:19:51.281> with<00:19:51.508> all<00:19:51.605> the<00:19:51.686> project<00:19:52.010> management<00:19:53.549> tools<00:19:54.358> embedded<00:19:54.925> in<00:19:55.071> it<00:19:55.476> and<00:19:56.140> team<00:19:57.193> features<00:19:57.598> in<00:19:57.744> it<00:19:57.841> that<00:19:58.003> allows<00:19:59.444> good<00:20:00.511> communication<00:20:01.061> between<00:20:01.870> teams<00:20:02.194> for<00:20:02.453> projects<00:20:03.019> and<00:20:03.116> so<00:20:03.342> forth.

00:20:05.850 --> 00:20:07.775
Then<00:20:06.497> I<00:20:06.659> use<00:20:07.306> ChatGPT.

00:20:08.330 --> 00:20:10.190
Like<00:20:08.665> many<00:20:09.017> people<00:20:09.336> are<00:20:09.369> starting<00:20:09.755> to<00:20:09.855> use.

00:20:12.162 --> 00:20:17.253
Yeah,<00:20:13.439> and<00:20:13.778> then<00:20:14.004> obviously<00:20:14.344> some<00:20:14.522> of<00:20:14.732> the,<00:20:15.394> like,<00:20:15.637> Teams<00:20:16.122> and<00:20:16.348> Zoom<00:20:16.768> and<00:20:16.865> so<00:20:17.156> forth.

00:20:18.611 --> 00:20:21.827
How<00:20:18.708> do<00:20:18.788> you<00:20:18.950> stay<00:20:19.257> grounded<00:20:19.839> and<00:20:20.405> stay<00:20:20.647> focused<00:20:21.116> on<00:20:21.197> your<00:20:21.278> mental<00:20:21.601> health?

00:20:23.870 --> 00:20:30.809
Uh,<00:20:27.005> I<00:20:27.086> guess<00:20:27.330> I've<00:20:27.428> been<00:20:27.590> trying<00:20:27.915> to<00:20:27.997> go<00:20:28.094> to<00:20:28.240> gym<00:20:29.297> more,<00:20:29.947> like<00:20:30.273> everybody<00:20:30.760> is.

00:20:35.145 --> 00:20:36.089
Running,<00:20:35.626> going<00:20:35.808> to<00:20:35.957> gym.

00:20:38.770 --> 00:20:51.602
The<00:20:38.866> one<00:20:39.044> thing<00:20:39.351> I've<00:20:40.110> started<00:20:40.497> to<00:20:40.643> do<00:20:40.756> about<00:20:41.547> 9<00:20:41.789> months<00:20:42.047> ago<00:20:42.257> or<00:20:42.435> so,<00:20:42.984> which<00:20:43.161> I've<00:20:43.307> been<00:20:43.484> very<00:20:43.727> consistent<00:20:44.356> on<00:20:45.261> and<00:20:45.422> which<00:20:45.648> helps<00:20:45.842> a<00:20:45.971> lot,<00:20:46.407> is<00:20:46.633> I<00:20:46.714> go<00:20:46.875> for<00:20:47.021> a<00:20:47.117> walk<00:20:47.376> in<00:20:47.440> the<00:20:47.570> morning<00:20:48.996> for<00:20:49.110> about<00:20:49.389> 30<00:20:49.651> minutes<00:20:51.110> without<00:20:51.454> fear.

00:20:53.027 --> 00:20:55.316
And<00:20:53.514> that's<00:20:53.839> been,<00:20:54.586> that's<00:20:54.748> been<00:20:54.910> quite<00:20:55.154> good.

00:20:55.787 --> 00:21:14.906
That's<00:20:55.949> been<00:20:56.112> quite<00:20:56.355> good<00:20:56.534> because<00:20:57.589> during<00:20:57.833> that<00:20:57.995> time<00:20:59.050> you're<00:20:59.278> able<00:20:59.602> to<00:21:00.660> to<00:21:01.142> sort<00:21:01.367> of<00:21:01.447> think<00:21:01.624> about,<00:21:02.154> think<00:21:02.331> through<00:21:02.492> things,<00:21:03.520> uh,<00:21:05.288> and<00:21:06.011> just<00:21:06.574> run<00:21:06.734> that<00:21:06.895> mental<00:21:07.233> model<00:21:07.940> on<00:21:08.438> what<00:21:08.598> I<00:21:08.679> think<00:21:08.872> needs<00:21:09.000> to<00:21:09.145> be<00:21:09.290> done,<00:21:09.642> some<00:21:10.163> of<00:21:10.247> the<00:21:10.331> strategy-related<00:21:11.171> questions,<00:21:12.748> uh,<00:21:13.875> and<00:21:14.600> so<00:21:14.761> forth.

00:21:16.210 --> 00:21:17.209
Yeah.

00:21:17.821 --> 00:21:23.671
Um,<00:21:18.723> what<00:21:19.045> do<00:21:19.125> you<00:21:19.270> think<00:21:19.673> on<00:21:20.414> like<00:21:20.816> the<00:21:21.300> state<00:21:21.590> of<00:21:21.687> the<00:21:21.850> world<00:21:22.516> economic<00:21:23.086> environment?

00:21:23.720 --> 00:21:27.704
You're<00:21:23.883> obviously<00:21:24.289> really<00:21:24.614> deep<00:21:24.858> in<00:21:24.956> this<00:21:25.200> now<00:21:25.606> as<00:21:25.753> you're,<00:21:25.932> as<00:21:26.078> you're<00:21:26.501> trying<00:21:26.729> to<00:21:26.810> take<00:21:26.989> your<00:21:27.070> company<00:21:27.477> public.

00:21:28.310 --> 00:21:31.669
Where<00:21:28.375> are<00:21:28.554> we<00:21:28.716> going<00:21:29.122> here<00:21:29.608> this<00:21:29.868> year<00:21:30.436> and<00:21:30.598> how<00:21:30.760> does<00:21:30.923> it<00:21:31.004> feel<00:21:31.328> out<00:21:31.556> there?

00:21:33.566 --> 00:21:38.474
Uh,<00:21:34.309> I<00:21:34.390> think<00:21:36.004> market<00:21:36.343> is<00:21:36.424> doing<00:21:36.714> quite<00:21:36.973> well,<00:21:38.006> which<00:21:38.119> is<00:21:38.264> good.

00:21:39.055 --> 00:21:42.672
Uh,<00:21:40.767> market<00:21:41.041> seems<00:21:41.251> to<00:21:41.412> love<00:21:41.671> AI<00:21:41.897> companies<00:21:42.300> these<00:21:42.430> days.
