# Chris Hulls doesn't want to be Elon Musk

Somewhere in the middle of his conversation on the CEO.com Podcast, Chris Hulls said the thing most public-company CEOs will not say on a microphone. He was asked how he decides where to spend his time, and he wandered, as he tends to, into why he cannot just hand earnings calls to his CFO the way Musk does. "I'm not at Elon level," he said. Then he kept going. "I don't think Elon's nice. It's a little disappointing that so many of our most successful CEOs are kind of just assholes. How do you be a hard driver without doing that?"

He did not have an answer. He had a theory. Outlier results come from bulldozers, people so much smarter than the room that everyone else either gets on the wagon or gets run over. Jobs was one. Musk is one. Hulls put himself a tier or two below that, in the class of founders who have to be diplomats because the market will not forgive them for embracing chaos. He said he was still working out how to push hard without being cruel, and that some people at Life360 probably already thought he was hard and a little insensitive. "I fundamentally like to think I'm nice."

The interview was recorded not long after Life360 moved its listing from the Australian Securities Exchange to the Nasdaq in 2024\. Listening now, it sounds less like a victory lap than a man taking inventory.

Hulls [enlisted in the Air Force at 17 and served in Afghanistan](https://investors.life360.com/corporate-governance/board-of-directors?ref=ceo.com) before finishing a business degree at UC Berkeley. He had a full-time offer from Goldman Sachs and an acceptance to Harvard Business School, and he has said that [having those two fallbacks is what made starting a company feel like zero risk](https://www.thespl.it/p/life360s-17-year-journey-to-3-billion?ref=ceo.com). The idea had come from a school project during Hurricane Katrina, when he watched families fail to find each other after the storm and sketched a way to do it over SMS. Android changed the plan. It was the first phone that would give a developer location data on the device, and Hulls built the first prototype on an emulator before there was any hardware to run it on. Within a year, the company had made the only pivot it would ever make, from emergencies to the ordinary business of knowing where your family is. The whole thing started with about $30,000, [$10,000 borrowed from his mother and $20,000 from a professor](https://www.thespl.it/p/life360s-17-year-journey-to-3-billion?ref=ceo.com), and he paid himself $700 a month for two years.

Nothing about the growth was fast. Early investors told him teenagers would never own smartphones. Later ones told him no parent who trusted their kids would use a tracking app. It took more than a decade to reach 10 million users, and Hulls described the company as a slowly boiling frog, grinding out 30 percent a year until 30 percent a year meant tens of millions of people. The moment he expected to end it, Apple launching Find My, turned out to be the moment that made location sharing feel normal to people who had found it creepy. Life360 grew faster after Apple entered than before.

He was clear-eyed about that competition. If you need to share a location with a friend for an afternoon, use Apple. Life360's bet is that location itself is a commodity, the way photo sharing became one, and that the value is in what a family does with it: a crash detected from the phone's sensors and an ambulance dispatched with a human on the line, a notification that a kid reached school, a speed report on a new driver.

The part of the interview that reads differently now came near the end. Hulls said he had been trying to figure out what he was actually good at. Not to congratulate himself, he said, but because very few people are the best in the world at anything, and the trick is finding three things you are above average at and stacking them. His three were assertiveness, a total disregard for social norms, and persistence bordering on obstinance. He also listed what he was not. He could never run a sales-led business. No one would hire him to manage something already at scale. "I don't want to do this forever," he said. He was thinking about what to delegate and what to protect.

On August 11, 2025, [Life360 announced that Lauren Antonoff, who had joined as chief operating officer in 2023, would become chief executive](https://investors.life360.com/news-releases/news-release-details/life360-names-coo-lauren-antonoff-chief-executive-officer/?ref=ceo.com), and that Hulls would move to executive chairman. The company said the succession plan had been in motion for nearly two years, which puts its start roughly around the time of this conversation. John Coghlan, the former Visa CEO who had chaired the board since the seed round, said the change "reflects years of thoughtful planning." In [his own post announcing the move](https://www.life360.com/blog/life360-ceo-transition-chris-hulls?ref=ceo.com), Hulls wrote that he had told the board when he turned 40 that he would step down before 45, and only when the company, the team, and he were all ready.

That post skipped the script, which is consistent with a man who called reading a lawyer-approved earnings statement "the worst part of the job." He wrote that communications had drafted him a statement, that legal wanted input, and that he ignored both. He said parts of the CEO role fueled him and parts drained him, and that after nearly two decades as the last line of defense he felt the weight more than he used to. He and Antonoff were aligned on users and vision and opposites in most other ways. The challenges that "wear me down at this scale are exactly the ones that fire her up," he wrote.

He stayed. In May 2026, he published [a hiring post for a Family AI Lab](https://chrishulls.medium.com/life360-is-building-a-family-ai-team-come-build-it-with-us-f6a3cd19ef20?ref=ceo.com), a small team he is running personally as a startup inside a much bigger company, and wrote that Life360 saw the mobile revolution coming when others discounted it and sees the same wave in AI. On its second quarter 2026 earnings call the company said it had [agreed to acquire the team and technology of SuperDuper to expand the lab](https://www.fool.com/earnings/call-transcripts/2026/08/17/life360-lif-q2-2026-earnings-call-transcript/?ref=ceo.com), which Hulls leads. The quarter itself was a record: [$159.0 million in revenue, up 38 percent from a year earlier, and the 100 million monthly active user mark crossed](https://investors.life360.com/news-releases/news-release-details/life360-reports-record-q2-2026-results?ref=ceo.com).

He described the product he wanted before it had a name. Most of a family's day is spent at home, at work, at school, and driving. He wanted a system smart enough to stay quiet through all of it and loud enough to override the phone's volume at 11 p.m. when a teenager has stopped moving on the side of a road. "Just go to bed, and Life360 will wake you up," he said. It is the pitch of a man whose parents let him fly to Africa alone at 11.

Every episode ends with the same question: who gave you a chance? Hull's answer: a professor first. Robert Kennedy taught at the community college Hulls attended after the Air Force. Kennedy wrote the first check that did not come from a friend or relative, and he gave Hulls the basement of his house to work in. Hulls went from his childhood bedroom to a teacher's basement, and from there to everything else.

00:00:09.903 --> 00:00:11.591
Chris,<00:00:10.208> thank<00:00:10.321> you<00:00:10.385> so<00:00:10.546> much<00:00:10.771> for<00:00:10.851> coming<00:00:11.028> on<00:00:11.108> the<00:00:11.189> show.

00:00:12.137 --> 00:00:14.966
Uh,<00:00:12.539> I<00:00:12.780> am<00:00:13.021> actually<00:00:13.504> a<00:00:13.680> user<00:00:14.388> of<00:00:14.484> your<00:00:14.629> product.

00:00:15.368 --> 00:00:16.815
Nice,<00:00:16.011> thanks<00:00:16.252> for<00:00:16.333> having<00:00:16.654> me.

00:00:17.056 --> 00:00:18.037
I<00:00:17.136> didn't<00:00:17.281> realize<00:00:17.603> you<00:00:17.683> were<00:00:17.779> a<00:00:17.844> user.

00:00:19.220 --> 00:00:19.462
Bonus.

00:00:19.510 --> 00:00:25.869
Yeah,<00:00:19.591> having,<00:00:20.446> uh,<00:00:20.785> having<00:00:21.108> 4<00:00:21.414> children,<00:00:22.238> it<00:00:22.625> is<00:00:23.125> incredible,<00:00:24.642> um,<00:00:25.369> for<00:00:25.691> us.

00:00:26.095 --> 00:00:29.322
And<00:00:26.256> so,<00:00:26.660> um,<00:00:27.063> why<00:00:27.112> don't<00:00:27.241> you<00:00:27.321> tell<00:00:27.515> us<00:00:27.580> like<00:00:27.725> how<00:00:27.951> you<00:00:28.048> became<00:00:28.500> the<00:00:28.565> CEO<00:00:28.713> and<00:00:28.779> founder<00:00:28.927> of<00:00:28.960> Life360?

00:00:29.437 --> 00:00:35.737
You've<00:00:29.716> gone<00:00:29.848> through<00:00:29.930> an<00:00:31.900> incredible,<00:00:33.120> uh,<00:00:33.216> probably<00:00:33.762> whirlwind<00:00:34.356> and<00:00:34.437> a<00:00:34.501> major<00:00:34.886> achievement<00:00:35.448> this<00:00:35.625> year.

00:00:36.010 --> 00:00:41.823
But<00:00:36.107> let's<00:00:36.331> start<00:00:36.508> with<00:00:36.669> like<00:00:36.829> how<00:00:36.990> you<00:00:37.150> became<00:00:37.953> CEO<00:00:39.703> and<00:00:40.121> founded,<00:00:41.068> uh,<00:00:41.165> Life360.

00:00:42.128 --> 00:00:44.151
There's<00:00:42.369> a<00:00:42.449> short<00:00:42.915> version<00:00:43.252> and<00:00:43.332> a<00:00:43.348> long<00:00:43.878> version.

00:00:44.199 --> 00:00:48.551
The<00:00:44.280> long<00:00:44.617> version<00:00:44.938> has<00:00:45.163> to<00:00:45.259> do<00:00:45.339> with<00:00:45.500> me<00:00:45.661> getting<00:00:45.885> a<00:00:45.982> job<00:00:46.287> offer<00:00:46.544> to<00:00:46.704> be<00:00:46.849> a<00:00:46.945> dishwasher<00:00:47.748> and<00:00:47.828> to<00:00:47.973> Antarctica.

00:00:48.647 --> 00:00:49.932
We<00:00:48.776> can<00:00:48.936> cover<00:00:49.193> that<00:00:49.370> if<00:00:49.514> you<00:00:49.611> want.

00:00:49.996 --> 00:00:54.412
The<00:00:50.076> short<00:00:50.542> version<00:00:51.120> though<00:00:51.505> is,<00:00:52.308> uh,<00:00:52.405> I<00:00:52.469> was<00:00:52.581> in<00:00:52.726> college<00:00:53.208> during<00:00:53.448> Hurricane<00:00:53.930> Katrina.

00:00:55.118 --> 00:00:59.261
Uh,<00:00:55.456> it<00:00:55.520> was<00:00:55.680> obviously<00:00:55.953> a<00:00:56.082> huge<00:00:56.483> mess<00:00:56.740> seeing<00:00:56.901> how<00:00:57.061> families<00:00:57.463> couldn't<00:00:57.704> reconnect<00:00:58.169> after<00:00:58.410> big<00:00:58.523> emergencies.

00:00:59.374 --> 00:01:02.740
I<00:00:59.390> did<00:00:59.614> a<00:00:59.920> business<00:01:00.320> plan<00:01:01.060> as<00:01:01.520> a<00:01:01.740> school<00:01:01.940> project.

00:01:02.740 --> 00:01:07.110
It<00:01:02.741> was<00:01:02.780> actually<00:01:03.060> pre-smartphone<00:01:03.780> about<00:01:04.060> using<00:01:04.420> SMS<00:01:04.980> to<00:01:05.160> help<00:01:05.240> families<00:01:05.580> find<00:01:05.840> each<00:01:06.020> other<00:01:06.140> after<00:01:06.340> big<00:01:06.560> emergencies.

00:01:07.380 --> 00:01:18.500
Finished<00:01:08.120> college,<00:01:08.760> wasn't<00:01:09.100> actually<00:01:09.380> planning<00:01:09.580> on<00:01:09.700> doing<00:01:09.900> this,<00:01:10.340> but<00:01:10.440> a<00:01:10.640> few<00:01:10.760> things<00:01:10.980> led<00:01:11.180> to<00:01:11.360> another<00:01:11.520> and<00:01:11.660> I<00:01:12.280> did<00:01:12.540> a<00:01:12.810> prototype<00:01:13.260> of<00:01:13.660> Life360<00:01:14.260> when<00:01:14.420> it<00:01:14.480> was<00:01:14.560> still<00:01:14.740> more<00:01:14.840> emergency<00:01:15.260> focused<00:01:15.640> on<00:01:15.840> the<00:01:16.040> then<00:01:16.440> upcoming<00:01:17.100> Android<00:01:17.780> platform.

00:01:18.500 --> 00:01:20.820
So<00:01:18.640> iPhone<00:01:18.820> had<00:01:19.020> come<00:01:19.200> out,<00:01:19.420> no<00:01:19.580> third-party<00:01:19.980> apps<00:01:20.320> yet.

00:01:21.340 --> 00:01:26.220
Uh,<00:01:21.860> Android<00:01:22.040> was<00:01:22.240> just<00:01:22.400> announced<00:01:22.800> and<00:01:22.940> it<00:01:23.020> was<00:01:23.080> going<00:01:23.140> to<00:01:23.200> be<00:01:23.260> the<00:01:23.360> first<00:01:23.520> phone<00:01:23.720> that<00:01:23.840> actually<00:01:24.040> let<00:01:24.180> you<00:01:24.380> get<00:01:25.160> location<00:01:25.580> on<00:01:25.760> the<00:01:25.860> device.

00:01:26.220 --> 00:01:28.500
Like,<00:01:26.320> oh,<00:01:26.460> this<00:01:26.640> is<00:01:26.760> the<00:01:26.860> way<00:01:26.940> to<00:01:27.060> do<00:01:27.200> that<00:01:27.440> thing<00:01:27.700> that<00:01:27.860> was<00:01:27.960> in<00:01:28.140> my<00:01:28.240> head.

00:01:29.437 --> 00:01:31.795
And<00:01:30.175> we<00:01:30.255> built<00:01:30.592> a<00:01:30.656> version<00:01:30.993> that<00:01:31.041> was<00:01:31.202> looking<00:01:31.298> on<00:01:31.346> an<00:01:31.442> emulator.

00:01:31.860 --> 00:01:33.047
So<00:01:31.940> a<00:01:31.956> screen,<00:01:32.325> there<00:01:32.405> was<00:01:32.501> no<00:01:32.646> device.

00:01:33.287 --> 00:01:39.255
And<00:01:33.608> when<00:01:33.769> we,<00:01:34.025> we<00:01:34.186> built<00:01:34.410> this<00:01:34.587> thing<00:01:34.747> that<00:01:34.811> was<00:01:35.389> meant<00:01:35.710> for<00:01:35.806> helping<00:01:36.095> people<00:01:36.351> find<00:01:36.528> each<00:01:36.736> other<00:01:36.849> in<00:01:36.913> emergencies,<00:01:37.378> like,<00:01:37.554> wait,<00:01:37.875> there's<00:01:38.020> something<00:01:38.677> bigger<00:01:39.062> here.

00:01:39.576 --> 00:01:42.784
And<00:01:40.025> that<00:01:40.121> bigger<00:01:40.298> thing<00:01:40.410> is<00:01:40.442> like<00:01:41.806> knowing<00:01:42.110> where<00:01:42.287> people<00:01:42.672> are.

00:01:42.848 --> 00:01:43.779
It's<00:01:43.073> actually<00:01:43.249> really<00:01:43.554> cool.

00:01:43.827 --> 00:01:46.490
It's<00:01:43.971> not<00:01:44.067> that<00:01:44.356> creepy<00:01:44.677> once<00:01:44.837> you<00:01:44.934> actually<00:01:45.255> kind<00:01:45.415> of<00:01:45.447> see<00:01:45.736> it<00:01:45.896> in<00:01:46.041> action.

00:01:47.099 --> 00:01:49.233
And<00:01:47.196> it<00:01:47.244> was<00:01:47.356> the<00:01:47.500> era<00:01:47.725> of<00:01:47.885> social<00:01:48.174> networks<00:01:48.543> for<00:01:48.688> everything.

00:01:49.891 --> 00:01:55.249
And<00:01:50.548> a<00:01:50.629> lot<00:01:50.789> of<00:01:50.853> people<00:01:51.014> were<00:01:51.174> going<00:01:51.350> after<00:01:51.591> families<00:01:51.912> and<00:01:51.976> we<00:01:52.072> thought,<00:01:52.714> what<00:01:53.099> if<00:01:54.078> everyone's<00:01:54.398> going<00:01:54.511> to<00:01:54.559> have<00:01:54.607> a<00:01:54.639> smartphone?

00:01:55.828 --> 00:02:02.105
And<00:01:55.925> what<00:01:56.150> if<00:01:56.312> the<00:01:56.409> way<00:01:56.570> to<00:01:56.715> really<00:01:56.893> bring<00:01:57.119> families<00:01:57.538> digital<00:01:57.958> in<00:01:58.022> the<00:01:58.103> same<00:01:58.264> way<00:01:58.426> Facebook<00:01:58.829> did<00:01:58.990> friends,<00:01:59.297> LinkedIn<00:01:59.878> did<00:02:00.023> professionals,<00:02:00.669> was<00:02:00.798> communication<00:02:01.653> and<00:02:01.879> safety?

00:02:02.460 --> 00:02:13.138
So<00:02:02.863> our<00:02:03.089> one<00:02:03.202> and<00:02:03.331> only<00:02:03.589> pivot<00:02:03.993> was<00:02:04.154> in<00:02:04.299> that<00:02:04.493> first<00:02:04.800> year<00:02:04.945> of<00:02:05.026> existence<00:02:05.609> where<00:02:06.580> we<00:02:06.742> do<00:02:06.904> want<00:02:07.050> to<00:02:07.082> be<00:02:07.212> this<00:02:07.390> much<00:02:07.633> bigger<00:02:07.940> family<00:02:08.216> network<00:02:08.685> with<00:02:08.831> an<00:02:08.993> anchor<00:02:09.479> around<00:02:10.531> coordination,<00:02:11.746> of<00:02:12.150> which<00:02:12.264> safety<00:02:12.652> is<00:02:12.749> a<00:02:12.879> part.

00:02:13.908 --> 00:02:16.592
And<00:02:14.169> now<00:02:14.266> 17<00:02:15.047> years<00:02:15.209> later<00:02:15.388> or<00:02:15.714> whatever<00:02:16.023> it<00:02:16.120> is,<00:02:16.283> here<00:02:16.364> we<00:02:16.510> are.

00:02:18.401 --> 00:02:19.766
How<00:02:18.483> did<00:02:18.648> you<00:02:18.796> grow<00:02:18.977> it<00:02:19.141> in<00:02:19.223> that<00:02:19.388> timeframe?

00:02:19.864 --> 00:02:22.067
Like<00:02:20.127> at<00:02:20.538> what<00:02:20.703> point<00:02:20.949> were<00:02:21.032> you<00:02:21.130> like,<00:02:21.360> we've<00:02:21.525> got<00:02:21.689> something<00:02:22.018> here?

00:02:22.390 --> 00:02:29.454
Like<00:02:22.582> this<00:02:22.823> is<00:02:22.984> something<00:02:23.546> that,<00:02:24.011> um,<00:02:24.493> and<00:02:24.589> let's<00:02:24.894> really<00:02:25.248> start<00:02:26.275> throwing<00:02:26.516> gas<00:02:26.901> on<00:02:26.982> the<00:02:27.062> fire<00:02:27.479> because<00:02:27.881> people<00:02:28.122> are<00:02:28.202> starting<00:02:28.459> to<00:02:28.603> really<00:02:28.780> like<00:02:29.005> what<00:02:29.149> we're<00:02:29.246> doing.

00:02:30.273 --> 00:02:32.264
Yeah,<00:02:30.755> I'll<00:02:31.076> answer<00:02:31.189> it<00:02:31.269> a<00:02:31.397> bit<00:02:31.638> differently.

00:02:32.457 --> 00:02:33.597
It<00:02:32.682> wasn't<00:02:32.939> gas<00:02:33.260> in<00:02:33.292> the<00:02:33.340> fire.

00:02:33.661 --> 00:02:39.891
We're<00:02:33.806> always<00:02:33.918> struggling<00:02:34.368> to<00:02:34.448> stay<00:02:34.689> alive,<00:02:35.267> but<00:02:35.508> in<00:02:35.588> the<00:02:35.909> early,<00:02:37.113> there<00:02:37.354> were<00:02:37.499> multiple<00:02:37.980> breakpoints<00:02:38.880> in<00:02:38.960> the<00:02:39.137> early<00:02:39.442> days.

00:02:40.228 --> 00:02:46.924
The<00:02:40.389> most<00:02:40.710> controversial<00:02:41.352> thing,<00:02:41.513> which<00:02:41.625> is<00:02:41.770> just<00:02:42.027> insane<00:02:42.412> in<00:02:42.557> hindsight,<00:02:43.038> is<00:02:43.119> like<00:02:43.921> most<00:02:44.259> VCs<00:02:44.901> and<00:02:44.997> our<00:02:45.142> very,<00:02:45.302> very<00:02:45.447> early<00:02:45.607> rounds,<00:02:45.752> like<00:02:45.961> teenagers<00:02:46.362> aren't<00:02:46.474> going<00:02:46.539> to<00:02:46.571> have<00:02:46.619> smartphones.

00:02:48.439 --> 00:02:51.086
That<00:02:48.681> obviously<00:02:49.908> turned<00:02:50.069> around<00:02:50.392> very<00:02:50.618> quickly.

00:02:52.572 --> 00:02:54.735
So<00:02:52.733> that<00:02:53.201> when<00:02:53.460> everyone<00:02:53.686> got<00:02:53.799> smartphones,<00:02:54.315> that<00:02:54.412> was<00:02:54.590> one.

00:02:55.740 --> 00:02:59.642
Another<00:02:55.885> big<00:02:56.015> inflection<00:02:56.646> point<00:02:57.067> for<00:02:57.294> us<00:02:57.715> was<00:02:58.589> when<00:02:58.832> Apple<00:02:59.043> launched<00:02:59.334> Find<00:02:59.577> My.

00:03:00.124 --> 00:03:01.730
We<00:03:00.144> were<00:03:00.241> like,<00:03:00.937> crap,<00:03:01.212> are<00:03:01.342> we<00:03:01.439> done?

00:03:01.844 --> 00:03:02.427
Here's<00:03:02.151> Apple.

00:03:02.475 --> 00:03:03.285
They're<00:03:02.572> coming<00:03:02.734> in<00:03:02.799> our<00:03:02.896> direction.

00:03:06.264 --> 00:03:08.095
This<00:03:06.396> sounds<00:03:06.594> like<00:03:06.759> corporate<00:03:06.973> speak,<00:03:07.270> but<00:03:07.386> it's<00:03:07.518> very<00:03:07.617> factual.

00:03:08.178 --> 00:03:08.557
Like<00:03:08.244> we<00:03:08.343> skyrocketed.

00:03:09.725 --> 00:03:17.920
So<00:03:09.791> as<00:03:09.873> soon<00:03:10.103> as<00:03:10.251> Apple<00:03:10.514> came<00:03:10.776> into<00:03:11.006> the<00:03:11.088> space,<00:03:11.516> it<00:03:11.581> was<00:03:11.729> the<00:03:11.828> best<00:03:11.992> thing<00:03:12.058> that<00:03:12.320> happened<00:03:12.731> to<00:03:12.895> us<00:03:13.142> because<00:03:14.052> The<00:03:14.133> big<00:03:14.357> issue<00:03:14.999> around<00:03:16.203> location<00:03:16.685> was<00:03:16.845> people<00:03:17.054> didn't<00:03:17.262> understand<00:03:17.840> it.

00:03:17.985 --> 00:03:18.835
It<00:03:18.065> felt<00:03:18.306> scary.

00:03:18.964 --> 00:03:21.516
And<00:03:19.092> so<00:03:19.253> Apple<00:03:19.509> doing<00:03:19.734> this<00:03:20.553> just<00:03:20.777> opened<00:03:21.034> up<00:03:21.179> the<00:03:21.275> floodgates.

00:03:22.623 --> 00:03:28.738
Uh,<00:03:22.864> and<00:03:22.944> then<00:03:23.201> another<00:03:23.522> thing,<00:03:23.763> this<00:03:23.923> is<00:03:23.987> very<00:03:24.084> technical,<00:03:24.565> but<00:03:24.742> a<00:03:24.870> lot<00:03:24.982> of<00:03:25.047> what<00:03:25.207> we<00:03:25.608> do<00:03:26.331> to<00:03:26.411> not<00:03:26.571> kill<00:03:26.732> a<00:03:26.796> battery<00:03:27.117> requires<00:03:27.615> non-chip<00:03:28.032> accelerometers.

00:03:28.818 --> 00:03:30.536
So<00:03:28.979> how<00:03:29.059> you're<00:03:29.220> driving,<00:03:29.701> car<00:03:29.862> crashes,<00:03:30.327> all<00:03:30.359> that.

00:03:30.600 --> 00:03:34.372
So<00:03:30.680> it<00:03:30.712> was<00:03:30.825> a<00:03:30.905> technical<00:03:31.290> breakthrough<00:03:31.707> that<00:03:31.868> was<00:03:32.028> probably<00:03:32.510> 2016<00:03:33.794> timeframe.

00:03:34.436 --> 00:03:37.822
So<00:03:35.720> we<00:03:35.864> were<00:03:35.961> like<00:03:36.137> a<00:03:36.185> slowly<00:03:36.683> boiling<00:03:37.148> frog.

00:03:38.368 --> 00:03:50.306
We<00:03:38.448> never<00:03:38.753> had<00:03:39.074> like<00:03:40.517> we<00:03:40.597> were<00:03:40.693> never<00:03:41.014> a<00:03:41.078> company<00:03:41.494> that<00:03:41.590> had<00:03:41.799> like<00:03:42.039> 500%<00:03:42.776> year<00:03:42.888> over<00:03:43.080> year<00:03:43.257> growth,<00:03:44.058> just<00:03:44.170> steadily<00:03:45.564> grew<00:03:46.061> and<00:03:46.301> we<00:03:46.445> grow<00:03:46.782> 30%<00:03:47.487> a<00:03:47.567> year,<00:03:48.624> but<00:03:48.768> now<00:03:49.185> we<00:03:49.345> grow<00:03:49.505> 30%<00:03:50.066> a<00:03:50.146> year.

00:03:50.386 --> 00:03:54.921
That's<00:03:50.611> like<00:03:50.787> tens<00:03:51.027> of<00:03:51.059> millions<00:03:51.364> of<00:03:51.492> people,<00:03:52.293> uh,<00:03:52.549> even<00:03:52.710> though<00:03:52.806> it<00:03:52.870> took<00:03:53.046> us<00:03:53.190> probably<00:03:53.511> over<00:03:53.751> 10<00:03:53.911> years<00:03:54.168> to<00:03:54.296> get<00:03:54.408> our<00:03:54.536> first<00:03:54.712> 10<00:03:54.825> million.

00:03:55.417 --> 00:04:05.864
So<00:03:56.539> no<00:03:56.715> exact<00:03:57.116> moment<00:03:57.676> in<00:03:57.757> time,<00:03:59.343> but<00:03:59.423> I<00:03:59.519> think<00:03:59.759> the<00:03:59.984> thing<00:04:00.320> now<00:04:00.801> that<00:04:00.945> gets<00:04:01.185> us<00:04:01.362> really<00:04:01.602> excited<00:04:02.163> is<00:04:03.268> you<00:04:03.364> don't<00:04:03.621> have<00:04:03.781> to<00:04:03.845> convince<00:04:04.326> a<00:04:04.390> millennial<00:04:04.950> why<00:04:05.191> you<00:04:05.287> should<00:04:05.527> use<00:04:05.671> life.

00:04:06.040 --> 00:04:11.532
16<00:04:06.489> millennials,<00:04:07.370> of<00:04:07.450> which<00:04:07.610> I'm<00:04:07.770> an<00:04:07.850> old<00:04:08.011> one,<00:04:09.596> are<00:04:09.757> now<00:04:10.161> the<00:04:10.387> prime<00:04:10.887> parent<00:04:11.129> demographic.

00:04:12.000 --> 00:04:18.985
And<00:04:13.372> it's<00:04:13.646> flipped<00:04:14.114> from,<00:04:15.470> is<00:04:15.712> there<00:04:15.873> a<00:04:15.970> big<00:04:16.196> market<00:04:16.535> here,<00:04:16.841> to,<00:04:17.164> oh<00:04:17.180> my<00:04:17.422> God,<00:04:17.745> this<00:04:17.922> is<00:04:18.068> such<00:04:18.374> a<00:04:18.520> big<00:04:18.632> market.

00:04:19.243 --> 00:04:24.705
How<00:04:19.435> are<00:04:19.660> we<00:04:19.837> going<00:04:20.030> to<00:04:20.094> maintain<00:04:20.544> our<00:04:20.640> leadership<00:04:21.122> position<00:04:22.392> when<00:04:22.568> the<00:04:22.729> TAM<00:04:23.115> is<00:04:23.838> billions<00:04:24.255> of<00:04:24.400> people?

00:04:25.284 --> 00:04:32.234
Uh,<00:04:25.605> and<00:04:25.701> it's<00:04:25.862> been—<00:04:28.015> the<00:04:28.095> word<00:04:28.160> I'd<00:04:28.337> be<00:04:28.417> looking<00:04:28.675> for<00:04:28.820> here—<00:04:29.722> amusing,<00:04:30.269> interesting,<00:04:30.930> vindicating,<00:04:31.639> frustrating.

00:04:32.283 --> 00:04:35.170
That,<00:04:32.444> like,<00:04:32.605> it<00:04:32.685> went<00:04:32.927> from<00:04:33.201> investors<00:04:33.668> being<00:04:33.829> like,<00:04:34.210> There's<00:04:34.530> no<00:04:34.690> market<00:04:34.970> here.

00:04:35.170 --> 00:04:35.690
This<00:04:35.290> is<00:04:35.490> niche.

00:04:35.690 --> 00:04:36.690
Who<00:04:35.750> wants<00:04:35.810> to<00:04:35.970> track<00:04:36.110> their<00:04:36.290> kids?

00:04:37.090 --> 00:04:40.050
Like,<00:04:37.430> if<00:04:37.630> you<00:04:37.710> have<00:04:37.711> good<00:04:37.770> kids,<00:04:38.130> if<00:04:38.210> you<00:04:38.330> trust<00:04:38.610> your<00:04:38.790> spouse,<00:04:39.030> why<00:04:39.190> would<00:04:39.310> you<00:04:39.350> ever<00:04:39.510> use<00:04:39.630> this<00:04:39.750> thing?

00:04:40.210 --> 00:04:44.530
Like,<00:04:40.230> this<00:04:40.530> thing<00:04:40.670> is<00:04:40.910> so<00:04:41.130> big,<00:04:42.810> $100<00:04:43.210> billion<00:04:43.530> opportunity.

00:04:45.570 --> 00:04:47.730
How<00:04:45.870> are<00:04:45.910> you<00:04:46.010> going<00:04:46.130> to<00:04:46.190> survive<00:04:46.450> when<00:04:46.630> Apple's<00:04:46.930> looking<00:04:47.090> at<00:04:47.290> you?

00:04:47.730 --> 00:04:55.050
Um,<00:04:48.030> so<00:04:48.710> very<00:04:48.910> bipolar<00:04:49.350> in<00:04:49.690> that<00:04:49.790> regard,<00:04:50.280> but<00:04:50.830> that<00:04:51.010> makes<00:04:51.150> us<00:04:51.370> feel<00:04:51.510> like<00:04:51.630> we<00:04:51.730> have<00:04:51.970> something<00:04:52.290> because<00:04:52.530> universally<00:04:53.330> no<00:04:53.570> one<00:04:53.790> questions<00:04:54.050> our<00:04:55.030> TAM.

00:04:55.050 --> 00:04:56.770
It's<00:04:55.170> all<00:04:55.290> about<00:04:55.610> this<00:04:55.930> TAM<00:04:56.150> is<00:04:56.330> so<00:04:56.570> big.

00:04:56.770 --> 00:04:57.480
How<00:04:56.850> do<00:04:57.030> you<00:04:57.031> win?

00:04:58.630 --> 00:05:04.330
Yeah,<00:04:58.990> you<00:04:59.170> certainly<00:04:59.410> have<00:04:59.630> something<00:04:59.850> and<00:04:59.970> it'd<00:05:00.170> be<00:05:00.190> good<00:05:00.350> for<00:05:00.650> you<00:05:00.770> to<00:05:00.970> explain<00:05:01.130> like<00:05:01.290> how<00:05:01.430> your<00:05:01.570> product,<00:05:02.110> because<00:05:02.470> obviously<00:05:02.910> like<00:05:03.150> you<00:05:03.230> can<00:05:03.390> share<00:05:03.630> your<00:05:03.830> location<00:05:04.190> on<00:05:04.210> an<00:05:04.230> iPhone<00:05:04.250> and<00:05:04.270> things<00:05:04.290> like<00:05:04.310> that.

00:05:06.040 --> 00:05:08.260
But<00:05:06.460> Life360<00:05:07.000> is<00:05:07.260> so<00:05:07.400> much<00:05:07.560> more<00:05:07.740> than<00:05:07.900> that.

00:05:08.260 --> 00:05:14.360
And<00:05:08.440> I<00:05:08.620> think<00:05:08.760> you<00:05:08.880> have<00:05:09.000> a<00:05:09.140> big<00:05:09.240> enough<00:05:09.400> moat<00:05:09.640> here<00:05:09.940> that<00:05:10.200> I'm<00:05:10.740> not<00:05:10.900> sure<00:05:11.120> Apple<00:05:11.460> can<00:05:11.880> really<00:05:12.760> penetrate<00:05:13.500> it.

00:05:14.360 --> 00:05:17.680
But<00:05:14.380> you<00:05:14.480> tell<00:05:14.680> me,<00:05:15.180> I<00:05:15.181> mean,<00:05:15.460> it'd<00:05:15.740> be<00:05:15.780> good<00:05:15.920> to<00:05:16.100> explain<00:05:16.380> the<00:05:16.500> product,<00:05:16.820> I<00:05:16.940> guess,<00:05:17.100> is<00:05:17.220> what<00:05:17.300> I'm<00:05:17.420> saying.

00:05:17.680 --> 00:05:17.960
Yeah.

00:05:17.960 --> 00:05:26.400
So<00:05:18.060> if<00:05:18.160> you<00:05:18.260> look<00:05:18.400> at<00:05:18.520> the<00:05:18.580> product,<00:05:19.060> it<00:05:19.080> does<00:05:19.320> start<00:05:19.660> with<00:05:19.960> just<00:05:20.400> at<00:05:20.700> the<00:05:20.820> core,<00:05:21.460> I<00:05:21.461> think<00:05:21.780> relatively<00:05:22.160> objectively,<00:05:22.700> just<00:05:22.880> the<00:05:23.000> best<00:05:23.160> location<00:05:23.620> sharing<00:05:23.940> app<00:05:24.200> out<00:05:24.480> there<00:05:24.620> in<00:05:24.700> a<00:05:24.780> very<00:05:25.000> generic,<00:05:25.540> but<00:05:25.820> better<00:05:26.100> way.

00:05:26.400 --> 00:05:28.070
And<00:05:26.540> you<00:05:26.600> could<00:05:26.740> probably<00:05:27.000> vouch<00:05:27.240> for<00:05:27.320> that<00:05:27.460> as<00:05:27.600> a<00:05:27.720> customer.

00:05:29.120 --> 00:05:33.200
Um,<00:05:29.200> Find<00:05:29.360> My<00:05:29.380> is<00:05:29.680> kind<00:05:29.880> of<00:05:30.020> like,<00:05:30.580> it's<00:05:31.020> rough<00:05:31.340> around<00:05:31.560> the<00:05:31.720> edges,<00:05:31.920> Google<00:05:32.220> stuff<00:05:32.480> rough<00:05:32.660> around<00:05:32.840> the<00:05:33.000> edges.

00:05:33.200 --> 00:05:35.080
And<00:05:33.360> most<00:05:33.480> of<00:05:33.600> our<00:05:33.720> competitors<00:05:34.080> also<00:05:34.400> rough<00:05:34.620> around<00:05:34.800> the<00:05:34.860> edges.

00:05:35.080 --> 00:05:36.020
It's<00:05:35.120> a<00:05:35.260> lot<00:05:35.380> harder<00:05:35.700> to<00:05:35.840> do.

00:05:36.732 --> 00:05:38.176
Location<00:05:37.133> sharing<00:05:37.438> well<00:05:37.679> than<00:05:37.775> it<00:05:37.919> looks.

00:05:38.818 --> 00:05:46.855
But<00:05:38.914> then<00:05:39.058> the<00:05:39.203> longer-term<00:05:39.780> differentiation<00:05:40.406> is<00:05:40.486> that<00:05:40.582> we<00:05:40.663> are<00:05:40.727> about<00:05:40.967> family,<00:05:41.385> family,<00:05:41.770> family,<00:05:42.812> uh,<00:05:43.213> and<00:05:43.534> the<00:05:43.631> features<00:05:44.128> that<00:05:44.256> we<00:05:44.417> have,<00:05:44.770> they<00:05:44.850> don't<00:05:45.139> really<00:05:45.379> make<00:05:45.636> sense<00:05:46.117> for<00:05:46.197> a<00:05:46.278> large<00:05:46.598> group.

00:05:46.935 --> 00:05:49.855
So<00:05:48.267> we've<00:05:48.427> gone<00:05:48.588> really<00:05:48.764> deep<00:05:48.925> with<00:05:49.005> driver<00:05:49.342> safety.

00:05:50.288 --> 00:05:51.139
How<00:05:50.352> are<00:05:50.465> you<00:05:50.673> driving?

00:05:51.187 --> 00:05:52.069
Do<00:05:51.235> you<00:05:51.315> need<00:05:51.475> a<00:05:51.572> tow<00:05:51.732> truck?

00:05:52.197 --> 00:05:58.951
And<00:05:52.262> then<00:05:52.374> the<00:05:52.454> biggest<00:05:52.759> one,<00:05:53.000> in<00:05:53.032> an<00:05:53.160> accident,<00:05:53.497> we<00:05:53.577> can<00:05:53.641> actually<00:05:53.834> detect<00:05:54.219> it<00:05:54.299> from<00:05:54.459> the<00:05:54.524> sensors<00:05:54.780> on<00:05:54.844> the<00:05:54.941> phone,<00:05:55.197> send<00:05:55.406> you<00:05:55.438> an<00:05:55.566> ambulance,<00:05:56.529> uh,<00:05:56.705> and<00:05:56.802> we<00:05:56.946> do<00:05:57.122> that<00:05:57.411> with<00:05:57.508> a<00:05:57.588> human<00:05:57.893> operator<00:05:58.213> that<00:05:58.310> walks<00:05:58.550> you<00:05:58.630> the<00:05:58.775> whole<00:05:58.871> way.

00:05:59.252 --> 00:06:02.577
So<00:05:59.272> that's<00:05:59.497> one<00:05:59.657> example<00:06:00.139> where<00:06:00.219> you<00:06:00.299> have<00:06:00.459> other<00:06:00.636> features<00:06:00.941> that<00:06:01.037> only<00:06:01.133> make<00:06:01.422> sense<00:06:01.647> in<00:06:01.803> the<00:06:01.823> family<00:06:02.144> use<00:06:02.384> case.

00:06:02.980 --> 00:06:10.660
We<00:06:03.530> have<00:06:03.910> tons<00:06:04.290> of<00:06:04.430> different<00:06:04.690> smart<00:06:04.950> notifications,<00:06:05.990> got<00:06:06.250> to<00:06:06.510> school,<00:06:07.330> low<00:06:07.610> battery,<00:06:08.570> finish<00:06:08.830> a<00:06:09.090> drive,<00:06:09.610> how<00:06:09.690> fast<00:06:10.070> you<00:06:10.210> were<00:06:10.310> going.

00:06:11.150 --> 00:06:13.910
Unlikely<00:06:11.470> that<00:06:11.630> other<00:06:11.790> people<00:06:12.010> do<00:06:12.230> that<00:06:12.430> because<00:06:12.570> it<00:06:12.690> really<00:06:12.830> doesn't<00:06:12.950> make<00:06:13.150> sense<00:06:13.350> for<00:06:13.510> friends.

00:06:14.430 --> 00:06:17.550
And<00:06:14.450> then<00:06:14.610> our<00:06:14.850> membership<00:06:15.230> has<00:06:15.470> a<00:06:15.570> whole<00:06:15.670> bunch<00:06:15.810> of<00:06:15.930> other<00:06:16.090> safety<00:06:16.410> stuff<00:06:16.650> wrapped<00:06:16.910> around<00:06:17.250> it.

00:06:17.550 --> 00:06:21.760
Disaster,<00:06:17.830> medical,<00:06:18.210> travel<00:06:18.550> assistance,<00:06:19.009> identity<00:06:19.270> theft<00:06:19.470> protection,<00:06:19.990> data<00:06:20.230> breach<00:06:20.450> alerts,<00:06:20.810> stolen<00:06:20.990> phone<00:06:21.210> protection.

00:06:22.070 --> 00:06:25.890
We're<00:06:22.230> trying<00:06:22.330> to<00:06:22.430> move<00:06:22.550> to<00:06:22.670> this<00:06:22.850> world<00:06:22.950> where<00:06:23.050> if<00:06:23.130> you're<00:06:23.270> worried<00:06:23.630> about<00:06:23.870> anything,<00:06:24.450> Life360<00:06:24.630> has<00:06:24.970> your<00:06:25.150> back.

00:06:25.890 --> 00:06:28.610
And<00:06:26.030> now<00:06:26.210> we're<00:06:26.310> adding<00:06:26.530> hardware<00:06:26.930> so<00:06:27.070> you<00:06:27.150> can<00:06:27.270> have<00:06:27.430> pets<00:06:27.710> and<00:06:27.890> things<00:06:28.190> as<00:06:28.450> well.

00:06:28.610 --> 00:06:32.750
We're<00:06:28.730> a<00:06:28.870> little<00:06:28.890> more<00:06:29.050> nascent<00:06:29.390> here,<00:06:29.670> but<00:06:29.830> we<00:06:29.850> bought<00:06:30.070> Tile<00:06:30.430> about<00:06:30.770> 2<00:06:31.030> years<00:06:31.290> ago,<00:06:31.630> a<00:06:31.730> whole<00:06:31.750> new<00:06:31.850> lineup<00:06:32.150> coming<00:06:32.390> out<00:06:32.650> soon.

00:06:33.616 --> 00:06:40.218
So<00:06:33.648> it's<00:06:33.776> really<00:06:33.936> gonna<00:06:34.017> be<00:06:34.113> if<00:06:34.209> you<00:06:34.273> have<00:06:34.369> a<00:06:34.497> family,<00:06:35.218> if<00:06:35.379> you're<00:06:35.635> coming<00:06:35.891> to<00:06:35.971> the<00:06:36.052> service<00:06:36.500> for<00:06:36.837> protection,<00:06:37.413> smaller<00:06:37.782> group<00:06:38.038> coordination,<00:06:39.080> this<00:06:39.128> is<00:06:39.224> a<00:06:39.320> very<00:06:39.561> different<00:06:39.945> product.

00:06:40.298 --> 00:06:45.024
So,<00:06:41.147> um,<00:06:41.307> when<00:06:41.403> we<00:06:41.483> think<00:06:41.644> about<00:06:41.948> Apple,<00:06:42.825> it's<00:06:42.845> not<00:06:43.022> even<00:06:43.230> necessarily<00:06:43.566> a<00:06:43.646> moat<00:06:44.528> per<00:06:44.624> se.

00:06:46.050 --> 00:06:54.286
It's<00:06:46.755> Apple<00:06:47.091> very<00:06:47.476> well<00:06:47.668> might<00:06:48.277> win,<00:06:48.758> like,<00:06:49.014> I<00:06:49.094> just<00:06:49.255> need<00:06:49.479> basic<00:06:49.735> location<00:06:50.200> sharing<00:06:50.376> to<00:06:50.472> share<00:06:51.338> with<00:06:51.498> a<00:06:51.562> friend<00:06:52.075> or<00:06:52.123> if<00:06:52.155> I'm<00:06:52.363> meeting<00:06:52.603> up<00:06:52.764> with<00:06:52.860> someone,<00:06:53.340> like,<00:06:53.485> yeah,<00:06:53.645> I<00:06:53.741> use<00:06:53.965> Apple.

00:06:54.366 --> 00:07:04.965
But<00:06:54.959> if<00:06:55.087> you're<00:06:55.167> that<00:06:55.343> family<00:06:55.744> organizer,<00:06:56.465> you're<00:06:56.625> kind<00:06:56.785> of<00:06:56.866> like,<00:06:57.090> kind<00:06:57.202> of<00:06:57.266> getting<00:06:57.667> navigating<00:06:58.452> that<00:06:58.628> day,<00:06:58.868> our<00:06:59.109> features<00:06:59.429> really<00:06:59.654> are<00:06:59.830> differentiated<00:07:00.455> in<00:07:00.535> a<00:07:00.551> way<00:07:00.711> that<00:07:01.260> that<00:07:01.357> make<00:07:01.536> us<00:07:01.747> different,<00:07:02.170> and<00:07:02.267> that<00:07:02.348> was<00:07:02.479> a<00:07:02.495> very<00:07:02.739> intentional<00:07:04.283> decision<00:07:04.673> as<00:07:04.835> well.

00:07:05.810 --> 00:07:07.988
We<00:07:05.908> have<00:07:05.989> been<00:07:06.152> the<00:07:06.298> first<00:07:06.542> to<00:07:06.574> say<00:07:06.786> location<00:07:07.533> is<00:07:07.679> a<00:07:07.777> commodity.

00:07:09.760 --> 00:07:15.812
It's<00:07:10.260> been<00:07:10.357> surprising<00:07:10.841> how<00:07:10.922> long<00:07:11.099> it's<00:07:11.244> taken<00:07:11.487> to<00:07:11.551> actually<00:07:11.971> come<00:07:12.197> true,<00:07:12.439> but<00:07:13.165> in<00:07:13.197> the<00:07:13.246> same<00:07:13.343> way<00:07:13.423> that<00:07:13.585> photo<00:07:13.827> sharing<00:07:14.053> is<00:07:14.150> a<00:07:14.214> commodity,<00:07:14.537> same<00:07:14.666> location<00:07:15.037> is<00:07:15.183> what<00:07:15.344> you<00:07:15.425> do<00:07:15.683> with<00:07:15.764> it.

00:07:16.409 --> 00:07:19.239
So<00:07:16.571> for<00:07:16.797> us,<00:07:16.910> it's<00:07:17.362> ongoing<00:07:17.943> differentiation<00:07:18.750> around<00:07:18.960> the<00:07:19.025> family.

00:07:20.638 --> 00:07:22.613
But<00:07:20.737> what<00:07:20.984> do<00:07:21.116> you<00:07:21.280> use<00:07:21.543> it<00:07:21.626> for<00:07:21.856> that's<00:07:21.955> different<00:07:22.185> than<00:07:22.284> Find<00:07:22.515> My?

00:07:24.073 --> 00:07:29.738
By<00:07:24.391> far,<00:07:24.994> I<00:07:25.161> have,<00:07:25.898> uh,<00:07:26.686> daughter<00:07:27.329> who<00:07:27.666> just<00:07:27.971> passed<00:07:28.373> her<00:07:28.469> driver's<00:07:29.353> test.

00:07:30.783 --> 00:07:32.743
And,<00:07:31.265> um,<00:07:31.522> so<00:07:31.683> she<00:07:31.907> has<00:07:32.084> a<00:07:32.164> license<00:07:32.711> now.

00:07:33.209 --> 00:07:37.033
By<00:07:33.369> far<00:07:33.755> my<00:07:33.996> favorite<00:07:34.269> feature<00:07:34.655> is<00:07:34.799> how<00:07:34.912> fast<00:07:35.153> she's<00:07:36.647> going.

00:07:37.547 --> 00:07:37.772
Yeah.

00:07:38.029 --> 00:07:38.559
I<00:07:38.173> love<00:07:38.414> that.

00:07:39.137 --> 00:07:42.190
I,<00:07:39.635> but<00:07:39.941> you<00:07:40.037> know,<00:07:40.198> that,<00:07:40.439> that's<00:07:40.680> kind<00:07:40.856> of<00:07:40.921> like<00:07:41.146> a<00:07:41.178> new<00:07:41.579> thing<00:07:41.901> for<00:07:42.029> us.

00:07:42.270 --> 00:07:45.307
Like,<00:07:42.672> by<00:07:42.784> the<00:07:42.865> way,<00:07:43.090> I<00:07:43.154> have<00:07:43.314> Tile<00:07:43.732> on<00:07:43.877> all<00:07:43.989> my<00:07:44.150> stuff<00:07:44.455> cause<00:07:44.616> I<00:07:44.760> lose<00:07:45.018> everything.

00:07:45.355 --> 00:07:46.962
So<00:07:45.483> I,<00:07:45.676> so<00:07:45.805> I<00:07:45.885> use<00:07:46.062> Tile<00:07:46.142> all<00:07:46.239> the<00:07:46.480> time<00:07:46.721> as<00:07:46.849> well.

00:07:47.733 --> 00:07:53.131
I<00:07:47.893> love,<00:07:48.134> I<00:07:48.311> love<00:07:48.552> like<00:07:49.018> how<00:07:49.195> fast<00:07:49.516> they<00:07:49.596> were<00:07:49.677> going,<00:07:49.998> the<00:07:50.078> how<00:07:50.239> fast<00:07:50.480> they<00:07:50.625> were<00:07:50.721> going<00:07:50.946> was,<00:07:51.364> is<00:07:51.508> a<00:07:52.488> brilliant<00:07:52.890> feature.

00:07:53.473 --> 00:07:55.480
Are<00:07:53.605> you<00:07:53.720> more<00:07:53.950> worried<00:07:54.214> about<00:07:54.674> her<00:07:55.020> or<00:07:55.102> her<00:07:55.267> boyfriend?

00:07:57.832 --> 00:08:00.114
Don't<00:07:58.138> even<00:07:58.330> say—<00:07:58.555> she<00:07:58.587> doesn't<00:07:58.844> have<00:07:59.021> a<00:07:59.037> boyfriend,<00:07:59.664> never<00:07:59.985> will.

00:08:00.258 --> 00:08:00.949
No,<00:08:00.499> I'm<00:08:00.788> just—.

00:08:00.949 --> 00:08:01.254
Never<00:08:01.126> will.

00:08:01.463 --> 00:08:03.873
I,<00:08:01.672> I've<00:08:02.106> told<00:08:02.331> my<00:08:02.652> daughters<00:08:03.038> when<00:08:03.134> they're<00:08:03.295> 35,<00:08:03.777> they<00:08:03.809> can.

00:08:05.608 --> 00:08:06.524
Yeah,<00:08:05.785> that<00:08:05.881> sounds<00:08:06.267> fair.

00:08:07.151 --> 00:08:17.025
On<00:08:07.231> the<00:08:07.360> Tile<00:08:07.619> topic,<00:08:07.977> another<00:08:08.204> thing<00:08:08.269> is<00:08:08.383> a<00:08:08.448> bit<00:08:08.545> of<00:08:08.675> a<00:08:09.747> differentiator<00:08:10.543> for<00:08:10.706> us<00:08:11.031> is<00:08:11.940> we<00:08:12.103> think<00:08:12.265> those<00:08:12.509> devices<00:08:12.996> can<00:08:13.159> both<00:08:13.402> be<00:08:13.565> safety<00:08:14.036> devices,<00:08:15.199> very<00:08:15.443> easy<00:08:15.606> to<00:08:15.704> kind<00:08:15.851> of<00:08:15.900> think<00:08:16.112> SOS<00:08:16.422> functionality.

00:08:17.090 --> 00:08:20.318
So<00:08:17.123> I'm<00:08:17.237> kind<00:08:17.416> of<00:08:17.498> giving<00:08:17.742> a<00:08:17.987> wink,<00:08:18.231> wink,<00:08:18.394> nudge,<00:08:18.655> nudge,<00:08:18.965> some<00:08:19.193> upcoming<00:08:19.617> stuff<00:08:19.927> we're<00:08:20.008> doing<00:08:20.188> there.

00:08:20.953 --> 00:08:39.085
And<00:08:21.017> the<00:08:21.097> other<00:08:21.274> thing<00:08:21.418> that<00:08:21.515> does<00:08:22.077> differentiate<00:08:22.559> us<00:08:22.639> from<00:08:22.880> every<00:08:23.201> Bluetooth<00:08:23.602> device<00:08:23.924> on<00:08:24.004> the<00:08:24.084> market<00:08:24.646> is<00:08:25.610> we<00:08:25.690> do<00:08:25.739> have<00:08:25.851> an<00:08:25.995> anti-theft<00:08:26.574> mode<00:08:26.895> where<00:08:27.120> you<00:08:27.280> can,<00:08:27.794> if<00:08:27.923> you<00:08:28.003> scan<00:08:28.324> your<00:08:28.421> ID,<00:08:28.806> agree<00:08:28.983> to<00:08:29.063> a<00:08:29.208> big<00:08:29.320> fine,<00:08:30.171> you<00:08:30.203> can<00:08:30.412> opt<00:08:30.653> out<00:08:30.765> of<00:08:30.830> those<00:08:31.006> annoying<00:08:31.392> alerts,<00:08:32.275> which<00:08:33.158> are<00:08:33.303> great<00:08:33.560> to<00:08:33.865> prevent<00:08:34.106> stalking,<00:08:34.588> which<00:08:34.748> is<00:08:34.989> fortunately<00:08:35.407> rare,<00:08:36.049> but<00:08:36.290> mess<00:08:36.595> up<00:08:36.836> the<00:08:36.933> ability<00:08:37.318> of<00:08:37.350> a<00:08:37.398> hardware<00:08:37.655> device<00:08:37.961> to<00:08:38.137> prevent<00:08:38.860> theft.

00:08:39.181 --> 00:08:49.814
So<00:08:39.342> one<00:08:39.390> thing<00:08:39.486> that's<00:08:39.679> happening<00:08:40.048> a<00:08:40.064> lot<00:08:40.305> with<00:08:40.771> AirTags<00:08:41.654> is<00:08:42.217> you<00:08:42.313> put<00:08:42.473> it<00:08:42.538> on<00:08:42.618> your<00:08:42.714> bike<00:08:43.357> and<00:08:43.421> then<00:08:43.517> a<00:08:43.533> thief<00:08:43.823> steals<00:08:44.080> your<00:08:44.240> bike<00:08:44.561> and<00:08:44.626> you<00:08:44.722> think<00:08:44.883> you're<00:08:44.963> protected,<00:08:45.429> but<00:08:45.926> the<00:08:46.023> thief<00:08:46.328> gets<00:08:46.489> the<00:08:46.553> like,<00:08:46.826> hey,<00:08:47.758> air<00:08:47.854> tag<00:08:48.095> falling<00:08:48.416> and<00:08:48.497> they<00:08:48.577> just<00:08:49.043> disable<00:08:49.477> the<00:08:49.621> thing.

00:08:49.879 --> 00:09:00.885
So<00:08:50.569> I<00:08:50.585> think<00:08:50.826> we<00:08:50.987> have<00:08:51.148> taken<00:08:52.899> an<00:08:53.237> approach<00:08:53.879> that<00:08:54.426> is<00:08:54.908> still<00:08:56.048> very<00:08:56.289> safe<00:08:56.611> for<00:08:56.836> women<00:08:57.093> and<00:08:57.173> people<00:08:57.478> could<00:08:57.559> be<00:08:57.655> stalked<00:08:57.896> because<00:08:58.169> like<00:08:59.085> you<00:08:59.246> have<00:08:59.423> to<00:08:59.503> scan<00:08:59.824> an<00:08:59.905> ID<00:09:00.146> to<00:09:00.290> opt<00:09:00.531> out<00:09:00.628> of<00:09:00.692> that.

00:09:00.949 --> 00:09:12.036
And<00:09:01.094> if<00:09:01.190> you're<00:09:01.351> a,<00:09:01.672> if<00:09:01.752> you're<00:09:01.897> a<00:09:01.913> bad<00:09:02.218> guy,<00:09:03.263> literally<00:09:03.504> given<00:09:03.680> a<00:09:03.761> government<00:09:04.146> ID<00:09:04.500> that<00:09:04.709> you're<00:09:04.789> going<00:09:04.869> to<00:09:04.950> get<00:09:05.046> thrown<00:09:05.223> in<00:09:05.351> jail<00:09:05.609> for,<00:09:05.930> but<00:09:06.091> now<00:09:06.332> we<00:09:06.492> actually<00:09:06.733> can<00:09:06.894> use<00:09:07.055> Tile<00:09:07.296> devices<00:09:07.858> to<00:09:08.292> stealthily<00:09:09.609> track<00:09:09.947> your<00:09:10.107> things<00:09:10.429> in<00:09:10.509> a<00:09:10.573> way<00:09:10.670> that<00:09:10.814> will<00:09:11.055> prevent<00:09:11.714> theft.

00:09:12.277 --> 00:09:21.853
And<00:09:12.357> I<00:09:12.437> think<00:09:12.662> we're<00:09:12.726> going<00:09:12.839> to<00:09:12.919> see<00:09:13.160> that<00:09:13.803> the<00:09:13.948> idea<00:09:15.072> in<00:09:15.313> the<00:09:15.345> next<00:09:15.635> few<00:09:15.715> years<00:09:15.988> that<00:09:16.149> you<00:09:16.181> could<00:09:16.293> lose<00:09:16.534> a<00:09:16.615> dog,<00:09:17.900> a<00:09:17.964> laptop,<00:09:19.170> a<00:09:19.491> bike,<00:09:19.909> a<00:09:20.053> car<00:09:20.407> is<00:09:20.535> just<00:09:20.712> going<00:09:20.824> to<00:09:20.873> be<00:09:20.953> downright<00:09:21.355> archaic.

00:09:21.917 --> 00:09:30.160
And<00:09:21.997> I<00:09:22.078> think<00:09:22.238> we<00:09:22.383> can<00:09:22.479> really<00:09:22.704> be<00:09:22.801> front<00:09:23.042> and<00:09:23.138> center<00:09:23.524> with<00:09:23.604> that<00:09:23.797> safety<00:09:24.552> and<00:09:24.649> protection<00:09:25.291> theme,<00:09:26.239> same<00:09:26.400> way<00:09:26.432> that<00:09:26.577> we've<00:09:27.059> differentiated<00:09:28.023> with<00:09:28.103> Find<00:09:28.424> My,<00:09:29.308> do<00:09:29.388> that<00:09:29.613> with<00:09:29.870> devices.

00:09:30.385 --> 00:09:37.920
Did<00:09:32.441> you<00:09:32.489> have<00:09:32.602> to<00:09:32.666> work<00:09:32.827> with<00:09:32.923> like<00:09:33.084> government<00:09:33.470> agencies<00:09:33.952> and<00:09:34.048> stuff<00:09:34.209> to<00:09:34.305> figure<00:09:34.594> out<00:09:34.755> that<00:09:34.996> whole<00:09:35.510> find<00:09:36.362> and<00:09:36.715> submitting<00:09:37.085> your<00:09:37.262> ID<00:09:37.583> and<00:09:37.727> stuff?

00:09:38.708 --> 00:09:39.479
No,<00:09:38.852> we<00:09:38.884> did<00:09:39.029> that<00:09:39.125> ourselves.

00:09:40.980 --> 00:09:49.420
We<00:09:41.380> do<00:09:41.740> engage<00:09:42.100> with<00:09:42.300> regulators<00:09:42.800> just<00:09:43.080> to<00:09:43.200> be<00:09:43.840> open<00:09:44.140> about<00:09:44.420> what<00:09:44.640> we're<00:09:44.780> doing,<00:09:45.160> because<00:09:45.260> I<00:09:45.380> think<00:09:45.500> it's<00:09:45.620> very<00:09:46.060> easy<00:09:46.340> to<00:09:46.580> sensationalize<00:09:47.360> that<00:09:47.620> because<00:09:47.780> it<00:09:47.820> looks<00:09:47.960> like<00:09:48.120> we're<00:09:48.280> kind<00:09:48.400> of<00:09:48.440> helping<00:09:48.680> the<00:09:48.900> bad<00:09:49.060> guys.

00:09:49.420 --> 00:09:50.490
Like,<00:09:49.520> no,<00:09:49.720> we're<00:09:49.860> really<00:09:50.040> not.

00:09:51.460 --> 00:09:55.500
Because<00:09:51.620> you<00:09:52.580> can<00:09:52.740> literally<00:09:53.080> go<00:09:53.220> on<00:09:53.400> like<00:09:53.401> Amazon<00:09:53.740> and<00:09:53.980> buy<00:09:54.180> a<00:09:54.300> stealth<00:09:54.460> tracker<00:09:54.720> you<00:09:54.880> put<00:09:55.000> in<00:09:55.140> the<00:09:55.320> SIM.

00:09:55.500 --> 00:10:02.120
So<00:09:55.640> if<00:09:55.660> you<00:09:55.740> want<00:09:55.780> to<00:09:55.920> do<00:09:55.980> some<00:09:56.140> work,<00:09:56.480> there's<00:09:56.620> some<00:09:57.340> really<00:09:58.240> advanced<00:10:00.080> bad<00:10:01.060> guy<00:10:01.280> trackers.

00:10:02.120 --> 00:10:06.720
And<00:10:02.260> so<00:10:02.360> I<00:10:02.400> think<00:10:02.580> by<00:10:02.980> our<00:10:03.220> act<00:10:03.500> of<00:10:03.620> making<00:10:04.020> you<00:10:04.200> do<00:10:04.340> a<00:10:04.380> scan<00:10:04.620> ID<00:10:04.960> and<00:10:05.180> people<00:10:05.260> say,<00:10:05.420> well,<00:10:05.520> can't<00:10:05.620> you<00:10:05.720> just<00:10:05.840> take<00:10:05.860> a<00:10:05.960> picture<00:10:06.080> of<00:10:06.180> someone<00:10:06.320> else's<00:10:06.560> ID?

00:10:06.720 --> 00:10:07.980
No,<00:10:06.900> we<00:10:06.980> do<00:10:07.100> a<00:10:07.200> liveness<00:10:07.540> check.

00:10:07.980 --> 00:10:10.141
So<00:10:07.981> you<00:10:08.387> Open<00:10:08.549> a<00:10:08.566> phone,<00:10:08.809> you<00:10:08.842> have<00:10:08.972> to<00:10:09.053> turn<00:10:09.150> like<00:10:09.361> this,<00:10:09.605> turn<00:10:09.702> like<00:10:09.946> that.

00:10:10.595 --> 00:10:11.456
LiDAR<00:10:11.001> scanning.

00:10:11.878 --> 00:10:16.971
Uh,<00:10:12.073> if<00:10:12.236> you<00:10:12.284> have<00:10:12.398> a<00:10:12.447> newer<00:10:12.707> phone,<00:10:12.950> it's<00:10:13.762> very<00:10:13.989> hard<00:10:14.168> to<00:10:14.574> fake<00:10:16.951> it.

00:10:16.971 --> 00:10:17.133
Yeah.

00:10:17.311 --> 00:10:17.375
Yeah.

00:10:17.472 --> 00:10:18.135
That's<00:10:17.715> so<00:10:17.958> cool.

00:10:18.200 --> 00:10:18.799
I<00:10:18.346> love<00:10:18.604> that.

00:10:19.397 --> 00:10:20.659
What<00:10:19.446> does<00:10:19.591> a<00:10:19.656> typical<00:10:19.979> day<00:10:20.141> look<00:10:20.303> like<00:10:20.464> for<00:10:20.545> you?

00:10:22.066 --> 00:10:26.139
Oh,<00:10:22.163> by<00:10:22.308> the<00:10:22.389> way,<00:10:22.632> before<00:10:22.891> we<00:10:22.955> even<00:10:23.198> get<00:10:23.360> to<00:10:23.392> that,<00:10:23.635> we<00:10:23.764> should<00:10:23.958> say<00:10:24.249> like,<00:10:24.427> hey,<00:10:24.670> you<00:10:25.139> IPO'd<00:10:25.656> in<00:10:25.770> June.

00:10:26.284 --> 00:10:26.766
Like<00:10:26.525> I<00:10:26.605> kept—.

00:10:26.766 --> 00:10:26.991
Yeah.

00:10:27.569 --> 00:10:34.945
Like,<00:10:28.839> and<00:10:28.935> so<00:10:29.176> your,<00:10:29.723> uh,<00:10:30.703> the<00:10:30.864> day-to-day<00:10:31.490> life<00:10:31.828> of<00:10:31.924> a<00:10:31.988> CEO<00:10:32.535> of<00:10:32.567> a<00:10:32.695> public<00:10:32.937> company<00:10:33.258> versus<00:10:33.579> a<00:10:33.660> private<00:10:33.997> company<00:10:34.319> must<00:10:34.624> be<00:10:34.720> different.

00:10:35.554 --> 00:10:36.942
And<00:10:35.619> so,<00:10:35.958> yeah,<00:10:36.151> tell<00:10:36.345> us<00:10:36.442> about<00:10:36.748> the—.

00:10:38.377 --> 00:10:40.522
Yeah,<00:10:38.942> so<00:10:39.022> we've<00:10:39.168> been<00:10:39.345> public<00:10:39.732> actually<00:10:39.974> for<00:10:40.071> 5<00:10:40.393> years.

00:10:40.587 --> 00:10:42.652
So<00:10:40.619> we<00:10:40.651> started<00:10:40.942> on<00:10:41.022> the<00:10:41.200> ASX,<00:10:41.684> we<00:10:41.764> moved<00:10:41.926> to<00:10:42.023> the<00:10:42.103> NASDAQ.

00:10:42.748 --> 00:10:46.223
So<00:10:42.877> our<00:10:43.039> move<00:10:43.458> back<00:10:43.861> was,<00:10:44.329> um,<00:10:44.732> we<00:10:44.829> moved<00:10:45.055> to<00:10:45.152> the<00:10:45.395> NASDAQ<00:10:45.882> in<00:10:46.028> June.

00:10:47.002 --> 00:10:47.196
Yes.

00:10:47.326 --> 00:10:49.500
So<00:10:47.586> we've<00:10:47.732> been<00:10:47.910> public<00:10:48.543> for<00:10:48.787> 5<00:10:49.144> years.

00:10:52.439 --> 00:10:56.048
Uh,<00:10:52.459> public<00:10:52.781> versus<00:10:53.103> private<00:10:53.747> doesn't<00:10:54.052> necessarily<00:10:54.455> change<00:10:54.777> my—<00:10:55.018> other<00:10:55.260> than<00:10:55.582> earnings.

00:10:56.306 --> 00:11:08.401
Um,<00:10:59.300> this<00:10:59.733> is<00:10:59.833> not<00:11:00.050> exactly<00:11:00.466> what<00:11:00.650> you<00:11:00.800> asked,<00:11:01.066> but<00:11:01.216> the<00:11:01.316> thing<00:11:01.550> I<00:11:01.733> noticed<00:11:02.470> being<00:11:02.662> public<00:11:02.983> versus<00:11:03.383> private<00:11:03.768> is<00:11:03.864> you<00:11:03.944> have<00:11:04.169> an<00:11:04.489> external<00:11:05.051> forcing<00:11:05.531> function<00:11:06.910> that<00:11:07.295> is<00:11:07.471> both<00:11:07.776> good<00:11:07.952> and<00:11:08.113> bad.

00:11:09.315 --> 00:11:14.156
So<00:11:09.860> one<00:11:10.116> thing<00:11:10.341> I<00:11:10.517> think<00:11:10.678> that<00:11:10.822> happens<00:11:11.174> with<00:11:11.319> companies<00:11:11.800> is<00:11:11.944> they<00:11:12.040> get<00:11:12.345> bigger<00:11:12.842> and<00:11:12.970> they<00:11:13.018> get<00:11:13.243> financially<00:11:13.723> stable.

00:11:15.070 --> 00:11:22.493
You<00:11:15.230> lose<00:11:15.487> that<00:11:15.872> existential<00:11:16.689> threat<00:11:17.154> of<00:11:17.250> going<00:11:17.571> bankrupt<00:11:18.918> and<00:11:19.014> it's<00:11:19.158> very<00:11:19.559> easy<00:11:20.056> to<00:11:20.216> start<00:11:20.553> doing<00:11:20.857> things<00:11:21.162> that<00:11:21.258> are<00:11:21.354> not<00:11:21.659> mission<00:11:22.044> critical.

00:11:23.006 --> 00:11:24.224
And<00:11:23.086> no<00:11:23.182> one's<00:11:23.358> going<00:11:23.519> to<00:11:23.583> debate<00:11:23.983> that.

00:11:24.464 --> 00:11:31.491
Like<00:11:24.705> everyone,<00:11:25.266> it's<00:11:25.747> common<00:11:26.068> sense,<00:11:26.452> but<00:11:26.548> in<00:11:26.709> practice,<00:11:27.110> it's<00:11:27.270> really<00:11:27.574> hard<00:11:29.581> avoid<00:11:30.143> getting<00:11:30.400> a<00:11:30.416> little<00:11:30.560> bit<00:11:30.801> fat<00:11:31.042> and<00:11:31.138> lazy.

00:11:32.888 --> 00:11:38.010
So<00:11:32.969> if<00:11:33.113> you're<00:11:33.274> public,<00:11:34.655> every<00:11:35.040> quarter<00:11:36.405> you're<00:11:36.549> going<00:11:36.742> to<00:11:36.822> be<00:11:37.063> put<00:11:37.304> in<00:11:37.448> a<00:11:37.529> pressure<00:11:37.802> cooker.

00:11:39.134 --> 00:11:43.357
And<00:11:39.488> if<00:11:39.616> you<00:11:39.648> have<00:11:39.793> a<00:11:39.873> really<00:11:40.098> good<00:11:40.339> quarter,<00:11:40.676> it<00:11:40.820> doesn't<00:11:41.382> mean,<00:11:41.703> oh,<00:11:41.944> then<00:11:42.105> you<00:11:42.153> can<00:11:42.346> kind<00:11:42.506> of<00:11:42.538> skate<00:11:42.843> for<00:11:42.940> the<00:11:43.004> rest<00:11:43.165> of<00:11:43.229> the<00:11:43.309> year.

00:11:43.470 --> 00:11:45.188
All<00:11:43.566> the<00:11:43.727> analysts<00:11:43.983> are<00:11:44.032> going<00:11:44.128> to<00:11:44.208> put<00:11:44.353> up<00:11:44.449> the<00:11:44.529> projections.

00:11:45.653 --> 00:11:48.303
So<00:11:45.798> you<00:11:45.894> are<00:11:45.974> getting—<00:11:46.280> if<00:11:46.360> you<00:11:46.440> have<00:11:46.552> a<00:11:46.617> good<00:11:46.842> quarter,<00:11:47.098> the<00:11:47.179> goalposts<00:11:47.596> are<00:11:47.676> moved<00:11:48.046> higher.

00:11:48.399 --> 00:11:50.663
If<00:11:48.527> you<00:11:48.560> have<00:11:48.640> a<00:11:48.704> bad<00:11:49.025> quarter,<00:11:49.250> you<00:11:49.282> have<00:11:49.362> all<00:11:49.395> the<00:11:49.443> scrutiny<00:11:49.748> why<00:11:49.908> things<00:11:50.085> didn't<00:11:50.310> go<00:11:50.551> well.

00:11:51.594 --> 00:11:53.360
So<00:11:51.835> you<00:11:51.980> cannot<00:11:52.397> be<00:11:52.542> lazy<00:11:52.943> as<00:11:53.039> a<00:11:53.120> public.

00:11:54.644 --> 00:11:55.590
It's<00:11:54.869> very,<00:11:55.109> very<00:11:55.366> hard.

00:11:56.088 --> 00:12:09.418
So<00:11:57.130> in<00:11:57.195> terms<00:11:57.371> of<00:11:57.403> my<00:11:57.596> day-to-day,<00:11:59.136> hasn't<00:11:59.521> changed<00:12:00.082> all<00:12:00.178> that<00:12:00.483> much,<00:12:00.820> but<00:12:00.996> we<00:12:01.205> are<00:12:01.381> in<00:12:01.526> a<00:12:01.766> very<00:12:02.087> constant<00:12:02.681> cycle<00:12:03.370> of<00:12:04.991> public<00:12:05.311> market<00:12:05.632> communications,<00:12:06.900> earnings<00:12:07.220> releases,<00:12:07.798> having<00:12:08.038> to<00:12:08.760> orient<00:12:09.145> the<00:12:09.225> market.

00:12:09.482 --> 00:12:13.637
A<00:12:09.498> lot<00:12:09.723> of<00:12:10.364> that<00:12:10.525> is<00:12:10.605> done<00:12:10.830> by<00:12:10.926> our<00:12:11.086> finance<00:12:11.567> team,<00:12:12.690> but<00:12:12.787> that<00:12:12.931> pressure<00:12:13.252> is<00:12:13.412> real.

00:12:14.535 --> 00:12:30.775
The<00:12:14.615> downside<00:12:15.032> of<00:12:15.097> some<00:12:15.257> of<00:12:15.305> that<00:12:15.417> is<00:12:15.498> it<00:12:15.562> doesn't<00:12:15.754> make<00:12:15.979> you<00:12:17.005> have<00:12:17.118> a<00:12:17.246> bit<00:12:17.567> more<00:12:17.808> of<00:12:17.840> a<00:12:17.904> short-term<00:12:18.529> lens<00:12:18.802> in<00:12:18.930> a<00:12:18.946> way<00:12:19.107> I<00:12:19.251> really<00:12:19.668> get<00:12:19.909> frustrated<00:12:20.390> about<00:12:20.920> because<00:12:22.057> on<00:12:22.153> one<00:12:22.314> hand<00:12:22.554> that<00:12:22.730> discipline<00:12:23.499> is<00:12:23.676> great,<00:12:24.381> but<00:12:24.541> on<00:12:24.637> the<00:12:24.862> other<00:12:25.102> hand,<00:12:26.464> uh,<00:12:27.201> sometimes<00:12:27.666> you<00:12:27.762> want<00:12:28.002> to<00:12:28.083> be<00:12:28.179> able<00:12:28.355> to<00:12:28.403> say,<00:12:28.483> I'm<00:12:28.659> going<00:12:28.948> to<00:12:28.980> kind<00:12:29.060> of<00:12:29.124> not<00:12:29.525> hit<00:12:29.749> numbers<00:12:30.150> for<00:12:30.246> a<00:12:30.326> few<00:12:30.486> quarters.

00:12:30.887 --> 00:12:32.906
I<00:12:30.967> want<00:12:31.079> to<00:12:31.111> invest<00:12:31.688> further<00:12:31.993> out<00:12:32.169> into<00:12:32.329> the<00:12:32.409> future.

00:12:33.595 --> 00:12:38.034
Uh,<00:12:33.835> I,<00:12:34.092> I<00:12:34.412> don't<00:12:34.877> want<00:12:35.149> to<00:12:35.262> have<00:12:35.470> to<00:12:36.255> show<00:12:36.479> ongoing<00:12:36.976> financial<00:12:37.473> leverage.

00:12:38.178 --> 00:12:46.719
And<00:12:38.563> then<00:12:38.803> after<00:12:39.059> the<00:12:39.139> crash<00:12:39.460> in<00:12:39.492> 2022,<00:12:40.165> it<00:12:40.486> was<00:12:40.566> like<00:12:40.822> every<00:12:41.768> year<00:12:42.104> or<00:12:42.409> every<00:12:42.649> quarter<00:12:42.985> we<00:12:43.130> had<00:12:43.226> to<00:12:43.306> show<00:12:43.626> that<00:12:43.755> that<00:12:43.931> loss<00:12:44.187> was<00:12:44.283> shrinking<00:12:44.764> and<00:12:44.908> flipping<00:12:45.149> to<00:12:45.293> profitability,<00:12:45.934> which<00:12:46.094> we've<00:12:46.190> now<00:12:46.351> done.

00:12:47.392 --> 00:12:52.060
Uh,<00:12:47.714> or<00:12:47.810> it's<00:12:47.939> not<00:12:48.116> just<00:12:48.358> EBITDA<00:12:48.680> break-even,<00:12:49.468> full<00:12:49.806> profitability<00:12:50.386> is<00:12:50.515> what<00:12:50.837> we've<00:12:51.094> guided<00:12:51.642> next<00:12:51.883> year.

00:12:53.090 --> 00:12:55.441
So<00:12:53.203> that's,<00:12:53.750> that's,<00:12:54.233> that's<00:12:54.362> a<00:12:54.410> lot<00:12:54.652> of<00:12:54.716> the<00:12:54.861> change.

00:12:56.235 --> 00:13:12.383
Uh,<00:12:56.255> I'd<00:12:56.436> say<00:12:56.584> in<00:12:56.666> terms<00:12:56.896> of<00:12:56.929> my<00:12:57.241> day-to-day,<00:12:59.924> the<00:13:00.118> scale<00:13:00.908> of<00:13:01.070> size<00:13:01.941> and,<00:13:02.280> and<00:13:02.522> having<00:13:02.909> more<00:13:03.168> people<00:13:04.136> and<00:13:04.523> having<00:13:04.781> more<00:13:05.088> prevalence,<00:13:06.072> that's<00:13:06.169> probably<00:13:06.476> what's<00:13:06.783> changed<00:13:07.186> my<00:13:07.444> day-to-day<00:13:07.864> more<00:13:08.187> than<00:13:08.300> being<00:13:08.447> public<00:13:09.296> per<00:13:09.394> se,<00:13:10.113> because<00:13:10.603> we,<00:13:11.517> we<00:13:11.550> just<00:13:11.664> have<00:13:11.828> a<00:13:11.844> lot<00:13:11.991> more<00:13:12.105> attention.

00:13:12.432 --> 00:13:13.118
We<00:13:12.481> have<00:13:12.644> a<00:13:12.661> lot<00:13:12.808> more<00:13:12.987> people.

00:13:13.996 --> 00:13:15.295
More<00:13:14.239> people,<00:13:14.467> more<00:13:14.629> problems.

00:13:15.360 --> 00:13:19.485
And<00:13:15.457> we<00:13:15.604> are<00:13:15.782> big<00:13:15.945> enough<00:13:16.253> now<00:13:16.594> where<00:13:17.228> there's<00:13:18.218> press,<00:13:18.625> there<00:13:18.722> are<00:13:18.787> regulators.

00:13:19.583 --> 00:13:28.907
I'd<00:13:19.696> say<00:13:19.924> we<00:13:20.330> as<00:13:20.476> a<00:13:20.492> company,<00:13:22.432> we<00:13:22.577> have—<00:13:23.717> we<00:13:24.280> stir<00:13:25.324> emotions<00:13:26.674> in<00:13:26.915> all<00:13:27.092> directions.

00:13:29.245 --> 00:13:32.575
Some<00:13:29.421> parents<00:13:29.743> such<00:13:29.920> as<00:13:30.048> yourself<00:13:30.610> love<00:13:30.852> us<00:13:31.028> for,<00:13:31.173> I<00:13:31.350> think,<00:13:31.591> very<00:13:31.832> good<00:13:32.074> reasons.

00:13:32.623 --> 00:13:41.311
There<00:13:32.720> are<00:13:32.865> also<00:13:33.107> a<00:13:33.140> lot<00:13:33.301> of<00:13:33.366> people<00:13:33.592> that<00:13:33.689> say<00:13:33.866> like,<00:13:34.803> this<00:13:34.981> is<00:13:35.287> Big<00:13:35.546> Brother,<00:13:36.434> you're<00:13:37.403> taking<00:13:37.807> kids'<00:13:38.113> freedom<00:13:38.436> away<00:13:38.695> from<00:13:38.921> them,<00:13:39.082> you're<00:13:39.163> not<00:13:39.341> trusting<00:13:39.744> them,<00:13:39.906> you're<00:13:39.987> not<00:13:40.148> letting<00:13:40.390> them<00:13:40.750> Spread<00:13:41.006> their<00:13:41.103> wings.

00:13:41.440 --> 00:13:42.211
It<00:13:41.568> was<00:13:41.665> very<00:13:41.890> ironic.

00:13:42.291 --> 00:13:43.768
I<00:13:42.323> was<00:13:42.452> the<00:13:42.692> ultimate<00:13:43.110> free-range<00:13:43.543> kid.

00:13:43.816 --> 00:13:44.234
Isn't<00:13:43.961> this<00:13:44.137> odd?

00:13:44.298 --> 00:13:46.337
My<00:13:44.394> parents<00:13:44.635> let<00:13:44.715> me<00:13:44.796> go<00:13:44.876> to<00:13:45.021> Africa<00:13:45.358> by<00:13:45.438> myself<00:13:45.775> when<00:13:46.060> I<00:13:46.080> was<00:13:46.161> 11.

00:13:47.108 --> 00:13:49.147
Uh,<00:13:47.381> so<00:13:48.071> we<00:13:48.152> can,<00:13:48.328> we<00:13:48.409> can<00:13:48.521> dive<00:13:48.810> into<00:13:48.970> that.

00:13:49.195 --> 00:13:53.386
We<00:13:49.436> are<00:13:49.532> actually<00:13:49.918> a<00:13:50.175> perfect<00:13:50.560> tool<00:13:50.817> for<00:13:50.978> free-range<00:13:51.523> kids<00:13:51.780> because<00:13:52.021> you<00:13:52.085> can<00:13:52.262> give<00:13:52.423> them<00:13:52.647> freedom<00:13:52.840> without<00:13:53.001> panic.

00:13:54.173 --> 00:13:56.164
Um,<00:13:55.313> but<00:13:55.441> then<00:13:55.538> we<00:13:55.618> have<00:13:55.698> regulators.

00:13:56.212 --> 00:13:58.797
It's<00:13:56.357> data,<00:13:56.774> it's<00:13:56.919> kids,<00:13:57.240> it's<00:13:57.464> advertising,<00:13:58.059> it's<00:13:58.203> location.

00:13:59.712 --> 00:14:05.798
Uh,<00:14:00.130> and<00:14:00.210> then<00:14:00.355> we're<00:14:00.451> working<00:14:00.676> with<00:14:00.852> insurers,<00:14:01.398> I<00:14:01.495> think<00:14:01.671> in<00:14:01.752> a<00:14:01.816> very<00:14:02.297> good<00:14:02.940> way<00:14:03.261> that<00:14:03.405> you<00:14:03.486> should<00:14:03.727> like,<00:14:04.048> like<00:14:04.642> it<00:14:04.818> sounds<00:14:05.107> like<00:14:05.172> your<00:14:05.268> daughter<00:14:05.509> speeds.

00:14:06.665 --> 00:14:12.112
Maybe<00:14:06.874> she<00:14:06.906> does<00:14:07.115> not<00:14:07.276> want<00:14:07.404> to<00:14:07.501> opt<00:14:07.693> into<00:14:07.902> usage-based<00:14:08.400> insurance,<00:14:09.043> but<00:14:09.428> I<00:14:09.445> want<00:14:09.573> to<00:14:09.605> be<00:14:09.637> able<00:14:09.830> to<00:14:09.927> tell<00:14:10.168> people<00:14:10.473> like,<00:14:10.714> hey,<00:14:11.356> you're<00:14:11.517> a<00:14:11.533> great<00:14:11.774> driver.

00:14:12.240 --> 00:14:14.843
You<00:14:12.320> really<00:14:12.433> should<00:14:12.642> have<00:14:12.835> an<00:14:12.979> insurance<00:14:13.766> rate<00:14:14.104> based<00:14:14.361> on<00:14:14.489> how<00:14:14.570> you<00:14:14.666> drive.

00:14:14.907 --> 00:14:16.642
That's<00:14:15.132> a<00:14:15.212> win<00:14:15.469> for<00:14:15.694> customers.

00:14:16.739 --> 00:14:22.587
But<00:14:17.076> anyway,<00:14:17.221> I<00:14:17.317> bring<00:14:17.542> that<00:14:17.703> up,<00:14:17.783> which<00:14:17.960> is<00:14:17.992> like<00:14:18.185> we<00:14:18.281> are,<00:14:19.968> we<00:14:20.209> evoke<00:14:21.189> a<00:14:21.253> lot<00:14:21.494> of<00:14:21.575> strong<00:14:21.912> emotions.

00:14:23.406 --> 00:14:29.142
And<00:14:24.467> I<00:14:24.547> think<00:14:24.708> our<00:14:24.868> move<00:14:25.109> to<00:14:25.173> the<00:14:25.206> NASDAQ<00:14:25.655> as<00:14:25.736> well<00:14:25.848> does<00:14:26.073> put<00:14:26.153> our<00:14:26.394> prominence<00:14:27.358> and<00:14:27.519> profile<00:14:27.985> up<00:14:28.097> as<00:14:28.242> a<00:14:28.306> company<00:14:28.724> even<00:14:29.029> more.

00:14:29.222 --> 00:14:41.564
So<00:14:29.913> I<00:14:29.993> do<00:14:30.074> have<00:14:30.234> to<00:14:30.266> navigate<00:14:31.455> that<00:14:31.696> side<00:14:32.002> of<00:14:32.162> things<00:14:32.484> in<00:14:32.580> a,<00:14:33.744> way<00:14:33.905> that's<00:14:34.130> not<00:14:34.323> natural<00:14:34.709> for<00:14:34.854> me<00:14:34.918> because<00:14:35.176> I'm<00:14:35.674> sort<00:14:35.835> of<00:14:36.801> a—<00:14:36.945> I<00:14:36.978> meet<00:14:37.203> the<00:14:37.348> archetype<00:14:37.862> of<00:14:38.023> a<00:14:38.120> zero-to-one<00:14:39.616> aggressive,<00:14:40.243> brash<00:14:40.630> disruptor<00:14:41.226> type.

00:14:41.644 --> 00:14:53.468
And<00:14:41.789> so<00:14:43.320> figuring<00:14:43.706> out<00:14:43.803> that<00:14:44.045> balance<00:14:44.528> and<00:14:44.947> even<00:14:45.172> Chris<00:14:45.414> Duzzi,<00:14:45.736> I've<00:14:45.881> been<00:14:45.978> on<00:14:46.074> the<00:14:46.203> call,<00:14:47.508> I<00:14:47.750> think<00:14:47.975> I<00:14:47.991> make<00:14:48.217> people<00:14:48.539> uncomfortable<00:14:49.167> a<00:14:49.280> bit<00:14:49.603> because<00:14:51.446> I<00:14:51.689> am<00:14:51.802> not<00:14:52.029> the<00:14:52.109> buttoned-up<00:14:52.595> polished<00:14:52.999> CEO.

00:14:55.587 --> 00:14:56.929
That's<00:14:56.557> perfect.

00:14:57.026 --> 00:15:00.962
That's<00:14:57.301> exactly<00:14:57.640> what<00:14:57.770> we<00:14:57.867> need<00:14:58.352> in<00:14:58.433> today's<00:14:58.740> day<00:14:58.870> and<00:14:59.037> age,<00:14:59.154> particularly<00:14:59.556> the<00:14:59.656> company<00:15:00.309> that<00:15:00.661> you<00:15:00.811> have.

00:15:01.919 --> 00:15:05.488
How<00:15:02.081> do<00:15:02.146> you<00:15:02.308> decide<00:15:02.973> where<00:15:03.298> to<00:15:03.379> spend<00:15:03.703> your<00:15:03.865> time<00:15:04.174> each<00:15:04.417> day<00:15:04.920> as<00:15:05.001> CEO?

00:15:09.810 --> 00:15:11.442
It<00:15:09.907> depends<00:15:10.359> the<00:15:10.456> day,<00:15:10.925> obviously.

00:15:11.506 --> 00:15:32.718
I<00:15:11.652> think<00:15:11.829> a<00:15:11.845> lot<00:15:12.072> of<00:15:12.152> stuff<00:15:14.107> is<00:15:14.236> unfortunately,<00:15:15.625> I<00:15:15.706> struggle<00:15:16.093> with<00:15:16.190> it<00:15:16.352> is<00:15:16.433> the<00:15:16.578> honest<00:15:16.901> truth<00:15:18.614> because<00:15:18.856> a<00:15:18.872> lot<00:15:19.115> of<00:15:19.180> the<00:15:19.567> stuff<00:15:20.133> I<00:15:21.119> feel<00:15:21.442> like<00:15:21.620> I'm<00:15:21.846> spending<00:15:22.250> time<00:15:22.573> on<00:15:23.446> sometimes<00:15:23.947> feels<00:15:24.270> very<00:15:24.513> low<00:15:24.755> leverage<00:15:25.240> and<00:15:25.321> I<00:15:25.401> can<00:15:25.563> look<00:15:25.725> at<00:15:25.870> my<00:15:26.048> day<00:15:27.136> And<00:15:27.858> I've,<00:15:28.275> I've<00:15:28.436> done<00:15:28.981> 15<00:15:29.398> phone<00:15:29.639> calls<00:15:30.906> and<00:15:31.227> did<00:15:31.323> I<00:15:31.467> really<00:15:31.708> have<00:15:31.820> the<00:15:31.965> impact<00:15:32.590> there?

00:15:33.649 --> 00:15:38.718
And<00:15:33.745> so<00:15:35.397> I<00:15:35.574> do<00:15:35.814> try<00:15:35.975> to<00:15:36.135> say,<00:15:36.279> all<00:15:36.311> right,<00:15:36.520> this<00:15:36.696> just<00:15:36.921> comes<00:15:37.178> with<00:15:37.322> the<00:15:37.402> territory<00:15:37.980> of<00:15:38.060> getting<00:15:38.381> bigger.

00:15:39.488 --> 00:15:45.968
Uh,<00:15:39.905> the<00:15:40.065> things<00:15:40.290> I<00:15:40.787> want<00:15:41.589> to<00:15:41.653> make<00:15:41.765> sure<00:15:41.974> if<00:15:42.070> I<00:15:42.631> do,<00:15:42.776> I<00:15:42.856> have<00:15:42.968> the<00:15:43.032> right<00:15:43.273> people<00:15:43.578> in<00:15:43.738> place<00:15:44.155> and<00:15:44.235> how<00:15:44.332> do<00:15:44.476> I<00:15:44.492> not<00:15:44.797> lose<00:15:44.893> sight<00:15:45.118> of<00:15:45.262> always<00:15:45.583> hiring?

00:15:46.080 --> 00:15:47.813
Cause<00:15:46.224> you<00:15:46.321> get<00:15:46.481> bigger,<00:15:46.786> you<00:15:46.866> just<00:15:47.043> can't<00:15:47.267> do<00:15:47.363> everything.

00:15:48.486 --> 00:15:56.543
Uh,<00:15:49.834> I<00:15:49.994> also<00:15:50.235> am<00:15:50.411> trying<00:15:50.571> to<00:15:50.652> find<00:15:50.892> what<00:15:51.053> are<00:15:51.085> the<00:15:51.213> one<00:15:51.373> or<00:15:51.454> two<00:15:51.630> strategic<00:15:52.159> areas<00:15:52.400> I<00:15:52.657> really<00:15:52.897> want<00:15:53.042> to<00:15:53.138> dive<00:15:53.459> in<00:15:53.603> on<00:15:53.860> because<00:15:54.245> I,<00:15:55.230> can't<00:15:55.903> do<00:15:56.067> all<00:15:56.247> of<00:15:56.412> them.

00:15:58.484 --> 00:16:04.751
Then<00:15:58.647> there<00:15:58.874> is<00:15:59.036> all<00:15:59.118> the<00:15:59.215> public<00:15:59.540> company<00:16:00.579> outward<00:16:00.936> stuff<00:16:01.553> where<00:16:03.339> I<00:16:03.355> have<00:16:03.582> to<00:16:03.663> do<00:16:03.696> some<00:16:03.939> of<00:16:04.475> them.

00:16:06.162 --> 00:16:07.001
Interviews<00:16:06.436> like<00:16:06.533> this<00:16:06.581> are<00:16:06.614> kind<00:16:06.743> of<00:16:06.807> fun.

00:16:07.049 --> 00:16:08.276
I<00:16:07.130> get<00:16:07.291> to<00:16:07.372> meander<00:16:07.840> and<00:16:07.937> all<00:16:08.034> that.

00:16:08.324 --> 00:16:09.405
I'm<00:16:08.405> not<00:16:08.566> going<00:16:08.808> off<00:16:08.921> a<00:16:08.986> script.

00:16:09.486 --> 00:16:14.134
My,<00:16:09.712> my,<00:16:10.019> the<00:16:10.116> thing<00:16:10.277> I<00:16:10.422> hate<00:16:10.745> with<00:16:10.858> a<00:16:10.922> passion<00:16:11.245> is<00:16:11.487> doing<00:16:11.713> that,<00:16:12.359> read<00:16:12.601> the<00:16:12.778> earnings<00:16:13.214> like<00:16:13.424> a<00:16:13.504> robot.

00:16:14.388 --> 00:16:16.927
And<00:16:14.408> of<00:16:14.473> course<00:16:14.570> I'm<00:16:14.650> not<00:16:14.796> sound<00:16:15.393> like<00:16:15.522> a<00:16:15.539> robot,<00:16:15.767> but<00:16:15.865> it's<00:16:16.078> freaking<00:16:16.339> robotic.

00:16:17.548 --> 00:16:18.397
Every<00:16:17.727> word<00:16:17.972> is<00:16:18.119> written<00:16:18.364> out.

00:16:18.479 --> 00:16:19.099
It's<00:16:18.691> all<00:16:18.789> public.

00:16:19.181 --> 00:16:20.324
The<00:16:19.279> lawyers<00:16:19.687> have<00:16:19.834> reviewed<00:16:20.243> it.

00:16:21.698 --> 00:16:24.762
And<00:16:21.794> then<00:16:22.019> I,<00:16:22.356> I,<00:16:23.158> the<00:16:23.302> rinse<00:16:23.559> and<00:16:23.623> repeat,<00:16:24.024> that's<00:16:24.200> the<00:16:24.264> worst<00:16:24.521> part<00:16:24.681> of<00:16:24.730> it.

00:16:25.243 --> 00:16:35.844
So,<00:16:25.403> but<00:16:25.483> that's<00:16:25.708> forced<00:16:26.045> on<00:16:26.205> quarterly<00:16:27.568> earnings,<00:16:28.194> AGMs,<00:16:29.253> and<00:16:30.520> maybe<00:16:30.696> if<00:16:30.840> I<00:16:30.856> ever<00:16:30.969> get<00:16:31.241> a<00:16:31.418> little<00:16:31.658> bit<00:16:31.819> further<00:16:32.140> along<00:16:32.460> in<00:16:32.540> life,<00:16:32.845> I<00:16:32.941> can<00:16:33.102> have<00:16:33.519> our<00:16:33.599> CFO<00:16:34.064> do<00:16:34.225> it,<00:16:34.369> but<00:16:34.786> I'm<00:16:35.026> not<00:16:35.251> at<00:16:35.331> Elon<00:16:35.524> level.

00:16:35.909 --> 00:16:37.128
I<00:16:36.053> can<00:16:36.149> just<00:16:36.261> say,<00:16:36.390> deal<00:16:36.550> with<00:16:36.630> the<00:16:36.711> CFO.

00:16:37.765 --> 00:16:39.164
I<00:16:37.785> don't<00:16:37.978> think<00:16:38.074> that<00:16:38.138> would<00:16:38.314> go<00:16:38.395> over<00:16:38.699> well.

00:16:40.560 --> 00:16:44.137
It<00:16:40.640> takes<00:16:40.897> a<00:16:40.945> minute<00:16:41.266> to<00:16:41.362> get<00:16:41.522> to<00:16:41.602> the<00:16:41.763> Elon<00:16:42.068> level<00:16:42.629> is<00:16:43.046> what<00:16:43.206> I've<00:16:43.367> come<00:16:43.527> to<00:16:43.607> understand.

00:16:45.195 --> 00:16:46.222
Um,<00:16:45.612> speaking<00:16:45.917> of<00:16:46.093> robots.

00:16:46.270 --> 00:16:46.350
Yeah.

00:16:46.398 --> 00:16:48.258
How<00:16:46.478> do<00:16:46.510> you<00:16:46.542> do<00:16:46.574> that<00:16:46.735> without<00:16:47.056> being<00:16:47.312> a<00:16:47.376> bit<00:16:47.537> of<00:16:47.633> a<00:16:47.697> jerk<00:16:48.178> too?

00:16:48.355 --> 00:16:56.762
So<00:16:48.563> I,<00:16:48.740> I<00:16:48.884> think<00:16:48.996> I'm,<00:16:49.542> I'm,<00:16:50.428> some<00:16:50.606> people<00:16:50.831> probably<00:16:51.073> think<00:16:51.170> I'm<00:16:51.299> pretty<00:16:51.540> hard<00:16:51.879> and<00:16:52.266> maybe<00:16:52.507> a<00:16:52.524> little<00:16:52.749> bit<00:16:53.088> insensitive,<00:16:53.894> but<00:16:53.990> I<00:16:54.071> fundamentally<00:16:55.022> like<00:16:55.264> to<00:16:55.409> think<00:16:55.586> I'm<00:16:56.456> nice.

00:16:57.053 --> 00:17:08.918
I<00:16:57.359> don't<00:16:57.601> think<00:16:57.730> Elon's,<00:16:59.057> so<00:16:59.624> I,<00:17:02.036> it's<00:17:02.765> a<00:17:02.781> little<00:17:03.024> disappointing<00:17:03.753> that<00:17:03.915> so<00:17:04.158> many<00:17:04.481> of<00:17:04.627> our<00:17:05.963> most<00:17:06.237> successful<00:17:06.948> CEOs<00:17:07.658> are<00:17:07.723> kind<00:17:07.900> of<00:17:08.062> just<00:17:08.530> assholes.

00:17:10.161 --> 00:17:14.409
So<00:17:10.404> how<00:17:10.662> do<00:17:10.807> you,<00:17:11.615> how<00:17:11.696> do<00:17:11.760> you<00:17:11.857> be<00:17:12.019> a<00:17:12.083> hard<00:17:12.261> driver<00:17:12.665> without<00:17:14.021> doing<00:17:14.263> that?

00:17:16.340 --> 00:17:16.452
Yeah.

00:17:16.500 --> 00:17:17.447
Why<00:17:16.661> do<00:17:16.741> you<00:17:16.837> think<00:17:16.998> that<00:17:17.222> is?

00:17:17.784 --> 00:17:26.099
Like<00:17:18.346> you<00:17:18.506> look<00:17:18.747> at<00:17:18.988> like,<00:17:19.550> I<00:17:19.582> mean,<00:17:19.903> I'm<00:17:20.128> sure<00:17:20.352> you've<00:17:20.529> read<00:17:21.075> Walter<00:17:21.331> Isaacson's<00:17:21.893> Jobs<00:17:22.375> book<00:17:23.980> about<00:17:24.718> Steve<00:17:25.023> Jobs<00:17:25.505> and<00:17:25.585> things<00:17:25.810> like<00:17:25.970> that.

00:17:26.227 --> 00:17:30.031
And<00:17:26.323> it<00:17:26.404> sounds<00:17:26.773> like<00:17:27.013> he<00:17:27.495> and<00:17:27.768> Elon<00:17:28.073> maybe<00:17:28.298> had<00:17:28.474> pretty<00:17:28.635> similar<00:17:29.116> personalities<00:17:29.919> there.

00:17:30.721 --> 00:17:31.893
Why<00:17:30.882> do<00:17:30.946> you<00:17:31.042> think<00:17:31.283> that's<00:17:31.524> the<00:17:31.604> case?

00:17:32.326 --> 00:17:34.525
I<00:17:32.390> don't<00:17:32.631> think<00:17:32.824> it's<00:17:33.033> that<00:17:33.354> complicated<00:17:34.317> at<00:17:34.397> all.

00:17:34.734 --> 00:17:40.897
Honestly,<00:17:35.151> now<00:17:35.231> that<00:17:35.440> I've<00:17:35.649> seen<00:17:35.841> it<00:17:36.002> is<00:17:36.965> you<00:17:37.142> get<00:17:37.382> constant<00:17:37.944> pressure<00:17:38.345> for<00:17:38.458> more<00:17:38.811> people<00:17:39.148> wanting<00:17:39.389> to<00:17:39.549> come<00:17:39.790> in,<00:17:40.175> tell<00:17:40.416> you<00:17:40.496> what<00:17:40.657> to<00:17:40.737> do.

00:17:40.994 --> 00:17:44.906
The<00:17:41.074> bloat<00:17:41.379> happens<00:17:41.796> and<00:17:41.893> somebody<00:17:42.149> just<00:17:42.358> need<00:17:42.535> a<00:17:42.663> person<00:17:43.000> to<00:17:43.145> like,<00:17:43.972> I<00:17:44.054> don't<00:17:44.299> care<00:17:44.463> how<00:17:44.611> you<00:17:44.709> feel.

00:17:45.135 --> 00:17:46.609
I'm<00:17:45.528> just<00:17:45.774> giving<00:17:46.019> it<00:17:46.183> to<00:17:46.249> you<00:17:46.429> raw.

00:17:48.010 --> 00:17:50.657
Take<00:17:48.106> it,<00:17:48.284> leave<00:17:48.591> it,<00:17:48.849> go<00:17:49.252> push,<00:17:50.156> steamroll.

00:17:50.947 --> 00:17:59.546
And<00:17:51.093> I<00:17:51.190> think<00:17:53.207> the<00:17:53.304> thing<00:17:54.015> there<00:17:54.241> is<00:17:54.337> like<00:17:54.499> that<00:17:55.128> works<00:17:55.548> when<00:17:55.693> you're<00:17:55.774> massively<00:17:56.355> successful<00:17:57.404> because<00:17:57.629> everyone<00:17:57.968> wants<00:17:58.225> to<00:17:58.370> kind<00:17:58.531> of<00:17:58.596> hitch<00:17:58.853> to<00:17:58.934> your<00:17:59.095> wagon.

00:18:00.206 --> 00:18:13.849
And<00:18:00.303> so<00:18:00.609> if<00:18:00.705> you<00:18:00.786> are<00:18:00.931> an<00:18:01.172> outlier<00:18:01.913> and<00:18:02.058> you<00:18:02.155> do<00:18:02.316> have<00:18:02.461> one<00:18:02.622> of<00:18:02.654> these<00:18:02.880> true<00:18:03.282> visionary<00:18:03.846> leaders<00:18:04.232> who's<00:18:04.474> probably<00:18:04.732> smarter<00:18:05.215> than<00:18:05.360> most<00:18:05.618> of<00:18:05.682> their<00:18:05.859> people<00:18:06.246> and<00:18:06.345> you<00:18:06.741> give<00:18:06.989> them<00:18:07.088> credit,<00:18:07.336> like<00:18:08.079> whether<00:18:08.244> you<00:18:08.327> like<00:18:08.574> Elon<00:18:08.822> or<00:18:08.888> hate<00:18:09.053> him,<00:18:09.152> he's<00:18:09.317> putting<00:18:10.349> Electric<00:18:10.736> cars,<00:18:11.204> rockets,<00:18:12.252> like,<00:18:12.591> geez,<00:18:12.898> the<00:18:13.382> guy's<00:18:13.575> a<00:18:13.640> genius.

00:18:13.914 --> 00:18:14.640
Started<00:18:14.188> OpenAI.

00:18:16.301 --> 00:18:18.366
Get<00:18:16.446> on<00:18:16.607> board,<00:18:16.849> get<00:18:17.011> off,<00:18:17.414> or<00:18:17.979> not.

00:18:18.479 --> 00:18:20.090
And<00:18:18.543> he<00:18:18.640> just<00:18:18.850> steamrolls<00:18:19.349> you,<00:18:19.913> right?

00:18:20.896 --> 00:18:21.427
It's<00:18:21.057> crazy.

00:18:21.476 --> 00:18:25.858
Like,<00:18:21.685> the—<00:18:21.943> I<00:18:22.024> mean,<00:18:22.330> there's<00:18:22.571> nobody<00:18:22.829> like<00:18:23.135> him,<00:18:23.780> uh,<00:18:24.038> in<00:18:24.440> today's<00:18:24.988> modern<00:18:25.262> era,<00:18:25.729> right?

00:18:26.052 --> 00:18:29.811
Like,<00:18:26.358> yeah,<00:18:27.018> I<00:18:27.034> mean,<00:18:27.260> he's<00:18:27.583> like<00:18:27.647> Henry<00:18:27.970> Ford,<00:18:28.858> who's<00:18:29.036> also—<00:18:29.262> yeah,<00:18:29.601> maybe.

00:18:29.924 --> 00:18:34.898
And<00:18:30.005> so<00:18:30.150> I<00:18:30.328> think<00:18:30.554> as<00:18:30.715> a<00:18:31.054> second-tier<00:18:31.716> CEO<00:18:32.282> or<00:18:32.492> third—<00:18:32.685> I<00:18:32.702> don't<00:18:32.911> know<00:18:33.057> where<00:18:33.218> I<00:18:33.234> am<00:18:33.412> on<00:18:33.541> the<00:18:33.638> tiers,<00:18:33.880> depending<00:18:34.203> on<00:18:34.268> your<00:18:34.365> benchmarking.

00:18:34.995 --> 00:18:39.604
You<00:18:35.091> can<00:18:35.253> put<00:18:35.398> me<00:18:35.479> in<00:18:35.560> different<00:18:35.802> ones,<00:18:36.125> but<00:18:36.785> I<00:18:36.867> have<00:18:37.098> to<00:18:37.197> be<00:18:37.362> a<00:18:37.428> bit<00:18:37.626> more<00:18:37.856> of<00:18:38.087> a<00:18:38.928> diplomat.

00:18:41.432 --> 00:18:44.281
And<00:18:42.239> Elon,<00:18:42.766> Steve<00:18:43.079> Jobs,<00:18:43.507> they're<00:18:43.886> kings.

00:18:46.032 --> 00:18:51.856
And<00:18:47.726> maybe<00:18:48.032> not<00:18:48.274> the<00:18:48.307> most<00:18:48.613> benevolent,<00:18:49.339> but<00:18:49.501> they're<00:18:49.597> so<00:18:49.839> smart<00:18:50.291> and<00:18:50.372> they're<00:18:50.501> so<00:18:50.695> good<00:18:50.856> and<00:18:50.953> they<00:18:51.179> push,<00:18:51.437> push,<00:18:51.679> push.

00:18:51.921 --> 00:19:01.184
But<00:18:52.469> what<00:18:52.711> I<00:18:52.970> see<00:18:53.518> is<00:18:54.002> I<00:18:54.970> get<00:18:55.228> so<00:18:55.600> much<00:18:56.101> pressure,<00:18:57.574> not<00:18:57.882> intentionally<00:18:58.707> to<00:18:58.869> like<00:19:00.148> remove<00:19:00.634> outliers.

00:19:01.443 --> 00:19:08.226
I<00:19:01.524> think<00:19:01.686> a<00:19:01.702> lot<00:19:01.961> of<00:19:02.026> big<00:19:02.269> companies,<00:19:02.900> a<00:19:02.916> lot<00:19:03.094> of<00:19:03.224> even<00:19:03.402> being<00:19:03.644> public<00:19:04.065> is<00:19:05.022> they<00:19:05.182> remove<00:19:05.567> the<00:19:05.647> downside<00:19:06.304> because<00:19:06.400> they<00:19:06.480> stop<00:19:06.929> you<00:19:07.009> from<00:19:07.425> like<00:19:07.666> being<00:19:07.890> public.

00:19:08.387 --> 00:19:11.046
We<00:19:08.467> can't<00:19:08.787> do<00:19:08.947> anything<00:19:09.348> crazy<00:19:09.732> without<00:19:10.069> really<00:19:10.309> risking<00:19:10.613> the<00:19:10.710> market.

00:19:11.751 --> 00:19:14.779
That<00:19:11.975> limits<00:19:12.296> upside<00:19:12.712> because<00:19:12.856> like<00:19:13.097> crazy<00:19:13.513> drives<00:19:14.074> outlier<00:19:14.474> results.

00:19:15.756 --> 00:19:23.094
And<00:19:15.900> so<00:19:16.060> I<00:19:16.221> think<00:19:16.397> that's<00:19:16.637> more<00:19:16.862> common<00:19:17.502> in<00:19:17.582> the<00:19:17.679> private<00:19:18.063> markets<00:19:18.464> and<00:19:18.560> sort<00:19:18.784> of<00:19:19.281> allowed,<00:19:19.921> so<00:19:20.082> to<00:19:20.162> speak,<00:19:20.642> because<00:19:21.684> you're<00:19:21.796> not<00:19:22.020> getting<00:19:22.245> ongoing<00:19:22.565> scrutiny.

00:19:23.206 --> 00:19:24.760
But<00:19:23.350> in<00:19:23.382> the<00:19:23.510> public<00:19:23.766> markets,<00:19:24.151> you<00:19:24.183> get<00:19:24.391> to<00:19:24.423> scale.

00:19:24.888 --> 00:19:30.736
I<00:19:25.032> think<00:19:25.208> it—<00:19:25.993> the<00:19:26.089> true<00:19:26.394> outliers,<00:19:26.955> I<00:19:27.051> think<00:19:27.275> that<00:19:27.515> ruthlessness<00:19:28.172> is<00:19:29.838> a<00:19:29.918> competitive<00:19:30.479> edge.

00:19:30.800 --> 00:19:34.869
I<00:19:30.816> know<00:19:30.896> a<00:19:30.912> lot<00:19:31.056> of<00:19:31.200> people<00:19:31.376> tell<00:19:31.777> Elon<00:19:32.097> and<00:19:32.193> Steve<00:19:32.482> Jobs,<00:19:32.658> you<00:19:32.770> don't<00:19:32.978> need—<00:19:33.443> they<00:19:33.539> could<00:19:33.699> do<00:19:33.844> that<00:19:34.020> without<00:19:34.340> being<00:19:34.581> jerks.

00:19:34.981 --> 00:19:48.596
And<00:19:35.624> Maybe<00:19:36.028> in<00:19:36.125> some<00:19:36.513> theoretical<00:19:37.240> sense<00:19:37.951> they<00:19:38.274> could,<00:19:39.744> but<00:19:39.889> I<00:19:40.131> think<00:19:40.455> you<00:19:40.713> need<00:19:41.052> someone<00:19:41.602> who<00:19:41.844> is<00:19:42.151> just<00:19:42.636> going<00:19:42.975> to<00:19:43.136> be<00:19:43.363> a<00:19:43.670> bulldozer<00:19:44.991> and<00:19:46.622> own<00:19:46.802> it<00:19:47.193> and<00:19:47.291> embrace<00:19:47.846> the<00:19:47.927> chaos.

00:19:49.942 --> 00:19:56.808
And<00:19:50.559> hey,<00:19:50.656> at<00:19:50.737> some<00:19:50.916> point<00:19:51.078> Tesla<00:19:51.338> still<00:19:52.052> might<00:19:52.215> all<00:19:52.377> blow<00:19:52.523> up<00:19:52.766> in<00:19:52.848> its<00:19:53.026> face,<00:19:54.649> but<00:19:55.071> if<00:19:55.120> you<00:19:55.153> want<00:19:55.299> the<00:19:55.445> outlier<00:19:55.769> results,<00:19:56.208> you<00:19:56.289> need<00:19:56.435> the<00:19:56.516> bulldozer.

00:19:58.848 --> 00:20:01.074
Yeah,<00:19:59.595> that's<00:20:00.164> exactly<00:20:00.473> right.

00:20:01.139 --> 00:20:13.029
You<00:20:01.220> were<00:20:01.301> mentioning<00:20:01.610> like<00:20:01.788> being<00:20:01.951> robotic<00:20:02.536> on<00:20:02.666> your<00:20:02.828> calls<00:20:03.104> and<00:20:03.185> stuff,<00:20:03.429> and<00:20:03.510> it<00:20:03.900> brought<00:20:04.144> to<00:20:04.209> mind<00:20:04.534> artificial<00:20:04.793> intelligence<00:20:05.037> and<00:20:05.118> AI<00:20:05.200> and<00:20:07.395> kind<00:20:07.556> of<00:20:07.620> the<00:20:07.717> growth<00:20:08.039> of<00:20:08.119> that<00:20:08.666> and<00:20:08.908> how<00:20:09.101> it's<00:20:09.729> permeating<00:20:10.276> every<00:20:10.518> company,<00:20:10.953> no<00:20:11.114> matter<00:20:11.741> what<00:20:11.902> type<00:20:12.128> of<00:20:12.208> company<00:20:12.530> you<00:20:12.691> are.

00:20:13.512 --> 00:20:14.559
How<00:20:13.609> are<00:20:13.754> you<00:20:13.915> thinking<00:20:14.237> about<00:20:14.478> it?

00:20:15.310 --> 00:20:22.657
So<00:20:15.746> there's,<00:20:16.133> I<00:20:16.230> think,<00:20:16.375> our<00:20:16.553> internal<00:20:16.957> productivity<00:20:18.152> and<00:20:18.249> then<00:20:18.652> what<00:20:18.895> we<00:20:19.298> do<00:20:20.493> externally,<00:20:21.139> and<00:20:21.236> they're<00:20:21.640> two<00:20:21.801> very<00:20:22.044> different<00:20:22.350> things.

00:20:23.770 --> 00:20:37.660
Externally,<00:20:24.534> which<00:20:24.859> I<00:20:24.940> think<00:20:25.233> mainly<00:20:25.509> where<00:20:25.607> you're<00:20:25.818> going,<00:20:29.979> in<00:20:30.045> terms<00:20:30.144> of<00:20:30.177> the<00:20:30.358> wave<00:20:30.704> of<00:20:30.868> generative<00:20:31.428> AI,<00:20:31.609> there's<00:20:31.939> not<00:20:32.186> a<00:20:32.417> lot<00:20:32.952> that's<00:20:33.177> like<00:20:33.369> fundamental<00:20:34.237> to<00:20:34.462> us<00:20:35.426> that<00:20:35.667> wasn't<00:20:36.149> there<00:20:36.728> before<00:20:37.113> this<00:20:37.290> big<00:20:37.515> wave.

00:20:37.708 --> 00:20:39.122
Of<00:20:37.853> course,<00:20:38.142> we're<00:20:38.206> going<00:20:38.270> to<00:20:38.319> do<00:20:38.415> customer<00:20:38.817> support.

00:20:39.202 --> 00:20:40.456
We're<00:20:39.363> already<00:20:39.620> doing<00:20:39.861> translations.

00:20:40.504 --> 00:20:43.380
That's<00:20:40.665> not<00:20:41.629> exactly<00:20:42.111> customer-facing<00:20:42.770> today.

00:20:44.425 --> 00:20:53.841
What<00:20:44.521> we<00:20:44.666> want<00:20:44.843> to<00:20:44.923> do,<00:20:45.003> it's<00:20:45.164> not<00:20:45.469> AI,<00:20:45.951> more<00:20:46.112> machine<00:20:46.465> learning,<00:20:47.896> probably<00:20:48.137> in<00:20:48.217> the<00:20:48.313> buzzwords<00:20:48.763> though,<00:20:48.940> is<00:20:50.209> if<00:20:50.290> you<00:20:50.402> look<00:20:50.692> at<00:20:51.093> most<00:20:51.495> families'<00:20:51.993> days,<00:20:52.877> very<00:20:53.359> mundane.

00:20:54.243 --> 00:20:56.428
Home,<00:20:54.564> work,<00:20:54.902> school,<00:20:55.368> finish<00:20:55.689> the<00:20:55.785> drive.

00:20:56.894 --> 00:20:58.388
We're<00:20:56.990> sending<00:20:57.280> out<00:20:57.392> so<00:20:57.633> many<00:20:57.939> pushes.

00:20:58.902 --> 00:21:11.117
Could<00:20:59.126> we<00:20:59.287> use<00:20:59.527> the<00:20:59.559> machine<00:21:00.024> to<00:21:00.120> say,<00:21:01.467> hey<00:21:01.547> Clint,<00:21:01.771> we're<00:21:01.932> going<00:21:01.996> to<00:21:02.028> get<00:21:02.188> really<00:21:02.413> annoying<00:21:03.054> with<00:21:03.150> you<00:21:03.631> a<00:21:03.711> very<00:21:03.951> few<00:21:04.192> times<00:21:04.577> a<00:21:04.673> day,<00:21:04.737> the<00:21:04.817> things<00:21:05.009> you<00:21:05.154> really<00:21:05.394> want<00:21:05.538> to<00:21:05.570> know<00:21:05.795> about,<00:21:06.196> like<00:21:06.244> it's<00:21:07.173> 11<00:21:07.494> o'clock<00:21:07.975> and<00:21:08.055> your<00:21:08.183> daughter's<00:21:08.520> in<00:21:08.584> this<00:21:08.760> weird<00:21:09.001> place,<00:21:09.482> or<00:21:09.562> maybe<00:21:09.786> she's<00:21:09.915> not<00:21:10.059> moving<00:21:10.379> on<00:21:10.427> the<00:21:10.460> side<00:21:10.700> of<00:21:10.764> the<00:21:10.844> road.

00:21:11.405 --> 00:21:13.970
Like<00:21:12.287> maybe<00:21:12.608> we<00:21:12.752> should<00:21:12.928> tell<00:21:13.169> you<00:21:13.265> and<00:21:13.409> wake<00:21:13.714> you<00:21:13.810> up.

00:21:15.108 --> 00:21:22.258
So<00:21:15.317> instead<00:21:15.589> of<00:21:15.653> just<00:21:15.878> having<00:21:16.198> these<00:21:16.439> very<00:21:16.775> kind<00:21:16.936> of<00:21:17.016> like<00:21:17.657> machine<00:21:18.058> gun<00:21:18.298> pushes,<00:21:18.683> which<00:21:19.084> our<00:21:19.180> users<00:21:19.581> love,<00:21:19.901> surprisingly,<00:21:20.526> we<00:21:20.558> send<00:21:20.783> so<00:21:20.959> many<00:21:21.184> pushes,<00:21:21.584> but<00:21:21.680> it's<00:21:21.761> about<00:21:21.873> your<00:21:21.985> family.

00:21:22.306 --> 00:21:25.175
So<00:21:22.370> you<00:21:22.466> like<00:21:22.706> it<00:21:22.867> as<00:21:22.947> you<00:21:23.091> probably<00:21:23.348> know,<00:21:24.149> doesn't<00:21:24.389> feel<00:21:24.502> like<00:21:24.710> spam.

00:21:26.100 --> 00:21:33.720
But<00:21:26.600> what<00:21:27.700> if<00:21:27.860> we<00:21:27.940> could<00:21:28.180> override<00:21:28.500> your<00:21:28.720> phone<00:21:28.920> volume<00:21:29.420> and<00:21:29.660> be<00:21:29.820> like,<00:21:30.040> ding,<00:21:30.180> ding,<00:21:30.181> ding,<00:21:30.420> ding,<00:21:30.620> ding,<00:21:31.780> there's<00:21:32.080> something<00:21:32.340> you<00:21:32.540> really<00:21:32.760> need<00:21:32.980> to<00:21:33.080> see<00:21:33.320> here.

00:21:33.720 --> 00:21:41.900
So<00:21:33.721> for<00:21:33.960> a<00:21:34.140> parent,<00:21:34.560> going<00:21:34.660> back<00:21:34.820> to<00:21:34.900> the<00:21:35.000> free<00:21:35.200> range<00:21:35.440> thing,<00:21:36.560> like<00:21:36.580> instead<00:21:36.720> of<00:21:36.740> waiting<00:21:36.980> up<00:21:37.160> at<00:21:37.280> night<00:21:37.420> for<00:21:37.540> your<00:21:37.660> kids,<00:21:37.780> just<00:21:37.920> go<00:21:38.100> to<00:21:38.280> bed<00:21:38.420> and<00:21:38.540> Life360<00:21:38.860> is<00:21:39.120> going<00:21:39.180> to<00:21:39.220> wake<00:21:39.400> you<00:21:39.580> up<00:21:39.740> and<00:21:39.880> override<00:21:40.160> your<00:21:40.320> phone<00:21:40.520> volume<00:21:40.740> if<00:21:40.860> there's<00:21:40.940> something<00:21:41.060> to<00:21:41.200> worry<00:21:41.400> about.

00:21:42.260 --> 00:21:46.560
So<00:21:42.460> hopefully<00:21:42.720> parents<00:21:43.140> will<00:21:43.340> then<00:21:43.840> feel<00:21:44.500> open,<00:21:45.380> like,<00:21:45.620> yeah,<00:21:45.660> just<00:21:45.840> go<00:21:46.100> out.

00:21:46.560 --> 00:21:48.520
I<00:21:46.740> got<00:21:46.980> kind<00:21:47.240> of<00:21:47.260> this<00:21:47.420> guardian<00:21:47.660> angel<00:21:47.920> watching.

00:21:48.940 --> 00:21:55.480
I<00:21:49.000> think<00:21:49.160> the,<00:21:50.320> it's<00:21:50.340> not<00:21:50.360> generative<00:21:50.880> AI,<00:21:51.360> but<00:21:51.740> it<00:21:51.900> is<00:21:52.060> AI<00:21:52.620> all<00:21:52.920> the<00:21:53.240> same,<00:21:53.740> machine<00:21:54.140> learning<00:21:54.400> to<00:21:54.560> kind<00:21:54.700> of<00:21:54.800> do<00:21:55.040> that<00:21:55.200> anomaly<00:21:55.460> detection.

00:21:55.720 --> 00:21:59.152
Protection<00:21:57.669> and<00:21:58.636> add<00:21:58.814> value.

00:21:59.861 --> 00:22:04.809
And<00:21:59.910> that's<00:22:00.087> also,<00:22:00.264> I<00:22:00.345> think,<00:22:00.506> how<00:22:00.538> we're<00:22:00.651> going<00:22:00.780> to<00:22:00.828> differentiate<00:22:01.714> from<00:22:01.972> Apple<00:22:02.843> and<00:22:03.149> as<00:22:03.390> location<00:22:03.809> becomes<00:22:04.100> commodity,<00:22:04.535> do<00:22:04.696> more.

00:22:05.567 --> 00:22:08.970
Internal<00:22:05.986> productivity<00:22:06.696> though,<00:22:07.196> there<00:22:07.276> is<00:22:07.422> a<00:22:07.502> lot<00:22:07.744> we're<00:22:07.922> doing,<00:22:08.325> a<00:22:08.405> ton<00:22:08.631> with<00:22:08.792> AI.

00:22:09.292 --> 00:22:10.131
So<00:22:09.454> bullish<00:22:09.841> on<00:22:09.937> that.

00:22:11.440 --> 00:22:19.474
And<00:22:11.569> I<00:22:11.601> personally,<00:22:11.875> every<00:22:12.020> email<00:22:12.359> I<00:22:12.520> write,<00:22:12.859> if<00:22:13.085> press<00:22:13.327> release,<00:22:13.730> whatever,<00:22:15.731> I<00:22:15.828> can<00:22:15.973> go<00:22:17.925> so<00:22:18.022> much<00:22:18.312> faster<00:22:19.038> with<00:22:19.200> AI.

00:22:19.700 --> 00:22:20.813
So<00:22:19.764> I<00:22:19.861> just<00:22:20.022> write<00:22:20.264> like<00:22:20.490> crap.

00:22:22.227 --> 00:22:24.395
And<00:22:22.632> I<00:22:22.794> kind<00:22:22.955> of<00:22:23.036> can<00:22:23.133> talk<00:22:23.376> back<00:22:23.619> and<00:22:23.764> forth<00:22:23.942> with<00:22:24.169> it.

00:22:24.573 --> 00:22:29.184
At<00:22:25.479> first<00:22:25.738> I<00:22:25.770> was<00:22:25.884> looking<00:22:26.110> really<00:22:26.223> smart<00:22:26.498> and<00:22:26.595> people<00:22:26.725> didn't<00:22:26.854> know<00:22:26.919> I<00:22:27.000> was<00:22:27.162> so<00:22:27.259> quick<00:22:27.728> on<00:22:27.825> things<00:22:28.149> like<00:22:28.229> ChatGPT.

00:22:31.026 --> 00:22:32.319
The<00:22:31.107> teenagers<00:22:31.543> know<00:22:31.576> how<00:22:31.689> to<00:22:31.770> do<00:22:31.850> it<00:22:31.931> already.

00:22:32.577 --> 00:22:33.967
They<00:22:32.884> just<00:22:33.062> picked<00:22:33.240> it<00:22:33.369> up<00:22:33.466> in<00:22:33.563> seconds.

00:22:34.015 --> 00:22:37.425
So<00:22:34.597> I<00:22:34.678> am<00:22:36.213> a<00:22:36.358> youth<00:22:36.697> in<00:22:36.778> that<00:22:37.004> regard.

00:22:37.828 --> 00:22:41.922
I'm<00:22:38.152> not<00:22:38.459> atrophied<00:22:38.976> as<00:22:39.170> an<00:22:40.496> old<00:22:40.595> middle-aged<00:22:41.004> guy<00:22:41.496> not<00:22:41.676> learning.

00:22:44.264 --> 00:22:44.988
That's<00:22:44.635> awesome.

00:22:47.373 --> 00:22:47.940
What<00:22:47.486> are<00:22:47.535> you<00:22:47.762> reading?

00:22:48.896 --> 00:22:50.743
What<00:22:49.074> reading<00:22:49.560> recommendations<00:22:50.209> would<00:22:50.354> you<00:22:50.452> have?

00:22:52.740 --> 00:22:55.595
I'll<00:22:52.836> literally<00:22:53.078> give<00:22:53.240> the<00:22:53.336> last<00:22:53.740> book<00:22:53.917> I<00:22:53.982> read,<00:22:54.288> you<00:22:54.321> know,<00:22:54.547> the<00:22:54.789> weird<00:22:55.095> things<00:22:55.337> I<00:22:55.434> do.

00:22:55.983 --> 00:22:59.742
I<00:22:56.144> read<00:22:56.321> a<00:22:56.402> book<00:22:56.644> called<00:22:56.951> High<00:22:57.370> Weirdness<00:22:58.096> by<00:22:58.193> a<00:22:58.500> guy<00:22:58.742> named<00:22:59.064> Eric<00:22:59.387> Davis.

00:22:59.935 --> 00:23:02.372
And<00:23:00.032> I<00:23:00.113> think<00:23:00.274> that,<00:23:01.388> uh,<00:23:02.049> what<00:23:02.194> was<00:23:02.340> it?

00:23:02.436 --> 00:23:06.646
Was<00:23:02.548> it—<00:23:02.613> it<00:23:02.838> was<00:23:03.802> drugs,<00:23:04.204> esoterica,<00:23:04.847> and<00:23:05.023> mysticism<00:23:05.682> in<00:23:05.747> the<00:23:05.827> 1970s.

00:23:07.338 --> 00:23:09.523
Um,<00:23:08.462> and<00:23:08.623> yes,<00:23:08.945> this<00:23:09.202> is<00:23:09.346> cool.

00:23:10.005 --> 00:23:11.520
Have<00:23:10.150> you,<00:23:10.327> uh,<00:23:10.712> have<00:23:10.970> you<00:23:11.130> heard<00:23:11.291> of<00:23:11.436> it?

00:23:12.786 --> 00:23:12.853
No.

00:23:13.242 --> 00:23:14.387
No,<00:23:13.548> but<00:23:13.709> I'm<00:23:14.225> in.

00:23:15.483 --> 00:23:17.047
It's<00:23:16.047> a<00:23:16.144> hard<00:23:16.692> read.

00:23:17.095 --> 00:23:23.856
I<00:23:17.192> was<00:23:17.902> having<00:23:18.159> to<00:23:18.966> look<00:23:19.191> up<00:23:19.433> every<00:23:19.675> other<00:23:19.917> word<00:23:22.757> because<00:23:22.919> it's<00:23:23.307> not<00:23:23.500> easy.

00:23:24.921 --> 00:23:30.236
The<00:23:24.954> last<00:23:25.180> one<00:23:25.406> where<00:23:25.487> I<00:23:25.584> took<00:23:25.761> it<00:23:25.794> was<00:23:25.987> anamnesis,<00:23:26.910> which<00:23:27.103> is<00:23:27.507> a<00:23:27.523> sudden<00:23:28.072> re-remembering<00:23:28.718> of<00:23:28.880> lost<00:23:29.122> forgotten<00:23:29.606> information.

00:23:30.333 --> 00:23:40.854
But<00:23:30.430> it<00:23:30.495> was—<00:23:31.141> the<00:23:31.221> book<00:23:31.448> basically<00:23:31.851> tracked<00:23:32.433> Philip<00:23:32.836> K.<00:23:33.079> Dick<00:23:35.485> and<00:23:35.550> Terence<00:23:35.970> McKenna<00:23:37.425> and<00:23:37.830> a<00:23:37.846> couple<00:23:38.234> others<00:23:38.800> around<00:23:39.140> just<00:23:39.447> what<00:23:39.786> was<00:23:40.094> it<00:23:40.272> in<00:23:40.352> the<00:23:40.449> '70s.

00:23:41.522 --> 00:23:50.649
That<00:23:42.149> happened<00:23:42.808> around<00:23:43.049> this<00:23:43.386> zeitgeist<00:23:43.997> culturally<00:23:44.655> around<00:23:46.086> breaking<00:23:46.487> norms,<00:23:47.853> psychedelics,<00:23:48.930> and<00:23:49.139> it<00:23:49.251> kind<00:23:49.380> of<00:23:49.412> got<00:23:49.621> lost<00:23:49.878> and<00:23:49.958> it's<00:23:50.183> all<00:23:50.344> resurfacing.

00:23:51.890 --> 00:23:52.404
That<00:23:51.992> was<00:23:52.078> my<00:23:52.112> last<00:23:52.335> book.

00:23:56.142 --> 00:24:05.657
As<00:23:56.368> an<00:23:56.400> aside,<00:23:56.770> I<00:23:56.786> also<00:23:57.028> did<00:23:57.205> find<00:23:57.495> out<00:23:59.024> I<00:23:59.104> was<00:23:59.587> babysat<00:24:00.231> in<00:24:00.264> Philip<00:24:00.650> K.<00:24:00.875> Dick,<00:24:01.133> who<00:24:01.455> most<00:24:01.696> people<00:24:01.874> may<00:24:02.083> or<00:24:02.115> may<00:24:02.260> not<00:24:02.501> know<00:24:02.904> is<00:24:03.049> the<00:24:03.113> sci-fi<00:24:03.564> author,<00:24:04.675> in<00:24:04.739> his<00:24:04.997> old<00:24:05.238> bedroom.

00:24:05.721 --> 00:24:07.045
I<00:24:05.869> only<00:24:05.968> found<00:24:06.200> that<00:24:06.283> out<00:24:06.399> a<00:24:06.466> few<00:24:06.615> years<00:24:06.880> ago.

00:24:07.128 --> 00:24:17.268
So<00:24:07.377> there's<00:24:07.874> a<00:24:07.940> whole<00:24:08.996> The<00:24:09.077> whole<00:24:09.333> weirdness<00:24:09.814> of<00:24:09.958> Life360,<00:24:11.337> which<00:24:11.561> is<00:24:12.523> very<00:24:12.860> Philip<00:24:13.180> K.<00:24:13.340> Dickian<00:24:13.821> in<00:24:13.966> that<00:24:14.142> like<00:24:14.623> surveillance,<00:24:15.264> Big<00:24:15.488> Brother,<00:24:15.969> and<00:24:16.691> very,<00:24:16.867> very<00:24:17.091> random.

00:24:18.069 --> 00:24:23.070
For<00:24:18.149> people<00:24:18.342> who<00:24:18.374> don't<00:24:18.550> know<00:24:18.678> him,<00:24:18.790> he,<00:24:19.416> his<00:24:19.592> books<00:24:19.913> are<00:24:19.977> like<00:24:20.137> Blade<00:24:20.393> Runner,<00:24:20.794> Total<00:24:21.115> Recall,<00:24:21.660> Adjustment<00:24:22.077> Bureau<00:24:22.317> Man,<00:24:22.541> The<00:24:22.622> High<00:24:22.782> Castle.

00:24:23.118 --> 00:24:24.689
So<00:24:23.199> you've<00:24:23.359> almost<00:24:23.696> assuredly<00:24:24.545> watched<00:24:24.641> him.

00:24:25.427 --> 00:24:26.324
Yeah,<00:24:25.587> one<00:24:25.699> of<00:24:25.827> the<00:24:25.908> greats.

00:24:26.966 --> 00:24:28.008
Definitely<00:24:27.222> one<00:24:27.350> of<00:24:27.446> the<00:24:27.527> greats.

00:24:29.033 --> 00:24:31.454
Um,<00:24:29.995> what<00:24:30.091> do<00:24:30.236> you<00:24:30.556> read<00:24:30.893> day<00:24:31.053> to<00:24:31.149> day?

00:24:31.598 --> 00:24:34.195
Do<00:24:31.646> you<00:24:31.839> read<00:24:32.175> news,<00:24:32.881> Wall<00:24:32.993> Street<00:24:33.297> Journal,<00:24:33.634> things<00:24:33.922> like<00:24:34.083> that?

00:24:34.275 --> 00:24:35.333
Or<00:24:34.419> do<00:24:34.483> you<00:24:34.580> tune<00:24:34.804> that<00:24:34.900> stuff<00:24:35.221> out?

00:24:35.958 --> 00:24:37.410
Uh,<00:24:36.378> no,<00:24:36.442> I'm<00:24:36.765> an<00:24:37.168> addict.

00:24:38.862 --> 00:24:39.733
It's<00:24:39.120> very<00:24:39.346> bad.

00:24:39.991 --> 00:24:42.556
Uh,<00:24:40.314> when<00:24:40.395> I<00:24:40.411> get<00:24:40.507> another<00:24:40.814> break,<00:24:41.120> I<00:24:41.201> want<00:24:41.282> to<00:24:41.604> break<00:24:41.927> my<00:24:42.024> phone<00:24:42.346> addiction.

00:24:44.002 --> 00:24:51.006
I<00:24:44.067> don't<00:24:44.309> read<00:24:44.487> pop<00:24:44.713> culture<00:24:45.035> stuff,<00:24:45.439> but<00:24:45.536> I<00:24:45.923> enjoy<00:24:47.553> reading<00:24:49.473> more<00:24:49.715> academic<00:24:50.135> material.

00:24:52.297 --> 00:24:59.239
So,<00:24:52.620> and<00:24:52.685> then<00:24:52.862> I<00:24:52.878> keep<00:24:53.104> up<00:24:53.185> with<00:24:53.282> the<00:24:53.330> business<00:24:53.684> news<00:24:54.167> and<00:24:54.473> then<00:24:54.972> politics<00:24:55.761> and<00:24:58.096> all<00:24:58.177> of<00:24:58.901> that.

00:24:59.481 --> 00:25:02.669
But<00:25:00.028> I<00:25:00.189> do<00:25:00.350> very<00:25:00.672> well<00:25:00.850> on<00:25:01.011> Trivial<00:25:01.333> Pursuit<00:25:01.880> other<00:25:01.977> than<00:25:02.122> the<00:25:02.218> pop<00:25:02.460> culture.

00:25:02.984 --> 00:25:03.763
Questions.

00:25:04.656 --> 00:25:06.246
That<00:25:04.802> can<00:25:04.899> probably<00:25:05.207> give<00:25:05.321> you<00:25:05.386> an<00:25:05.467> insight<00:25:05.694> into<00:25:05.872> what<00:25:06.002> I<00:25:06.100> read.

00:25:07.008 --> 00:25:08.679
And<00:25:07.106> sports,<00:25:07.738> sports<00:25:08.128> and<00:25:08.225> pop<00:25:08.468> culture.

00:25:08.777 --> 00:25:09.345
I<00:25:08.809> need<00:25:09.020> a<00:25:09.101> teammate.

00:25:11.280 --> 00:25:11.381
Okay.

00:25:11.718 --> 00:25:11.903
Okay.

00:25:11.987 --> 00:25:12.746
That<00:25:12.105> makes<00:25:12.443> sense.

00:25:14.120 --> 00:25:18.240
What,<00:25:14.396> in<00:25:14.478> your<00:25:14.641> opinion,<00:25:15.048> are<00:25:15.145> the<00:25:15.292> 3<00:25:15.553> most<00:25:15.927> important<00:25:16.497> traits<00:25:17.018> or<00:25:17.230> attributes<00:25:17.751> of<00:25:17.833> a<00:25:17.979> leader?

00:25:19.980 --> 00:25:21.861
Probably,<00:25:21.060> I<00:25:21.256> think<00:25:21.420> it<00:25:21.485> depends.

00:25:22.774 --> 00:25:24.054
It's<00:25:22.794> not<00:25:23.023> one<00:25:23.220> size<00:25:23.612> fits<00:25:23.940> all.

00:25:27.587 --> 00:25:31.563
Maybe<00:25:27.915> I'll<00:25:29.290> One<00:25:29.407> thing<00:25:29.574> I<00:25:29.657> was<00:25:29.824> trying<00:25:29.992> to<00:25:30.058> figure<00:25:30.226> out,<00:25:30.309> I'll<00:25:30.409> answer<00:25:30.560> your<00:25:30.643> question<00:25:30.944> more<00:25:31.162> indirectly.

00:25:33.230 --> 00:25:38.628
Like,<00:25:33.343> I've<00:25:33.587> made<00:25:33.766> it<00:25:33.912> pretty<00:25:34.156> far<00:25:34.465> in<00:25:34.547> life<00:25:35.782> and<00:25:36.124> I'm<00:25:36.514> trying<00:25:36.661> to<00:25:36.758> figure<00:25:37.067> out<00:25:38.547> why.

00:25:40.402 --> 00:25:43.006
Like,<00:25:40.628> what<00:25:40.790> is<00:25:40.968> that<00:25:41.615> secret<00:25:41.955> sauce<00:25:42.343> that<00:25:42.569> I<00:25:42.731> have?

00:25:43.071 --> 00:25:48.100
And<00:25:43.232> more<00:25:43.378> just<00:25:44.445> not<00:25:44.607> looking<00:25:44.769> to<00:25:44.914> pat<00:25:45.092> myself<00:25:45.319> on<00:25:45.351> the<00:25:45.432> back,<00:25:45.658> more<00:25:45.755> just<00:25:45.982> learning<00:25:46.548> like<00:25:46.774> what<00:25:46.936> is<00:25:47.114> that<00:25:47.357> thing<00:25:47.518> I'm<00:25:47.680> good<00:25:47.826> at?

00:25:48.487 --> 00:25:52.291
Because<00:25:49.373> one<00:25:49.599> frame<00:25:49.792> there,<00:25:50.099> like<00:25:50.324> very<00:25:50.582> few<00:25:50.743> people<00:25:50.969> are<00:25:51.066> the<00:25:51.211> best<00:25:51.404> in<00:25:51.453> the<00:25:51.533> world<00:25:51.694> at<00:25:51.936> anything.

00:25:52.355 --> 00:26:05.268
But<00:25:52.517> if<00:25:52.662> you<00:25:53.484> find<00:25:53.806> 3<00:25:54.129> things<00:25:54.435> you're<00:25:54.515> like<00:25:54.677> above<00:25:54.999> average<00:25:55.402> at<00:25:55.644> and<00:25:55.900> somehow<00:25:56.414> pair<00:25:57.056> them<00:25:57.378> together,<00:25:58.647> that<00:25:58.824> might<00:25:59.081> make<00:25:59.370> you<00:25:59.467> actually<00:25:59.933> almost<00:26:00.270> the<00:26:00.367> best<00:26:00.672> in<00:26:00.736> the<00:26:00.833> world<00:26:01.090> at<00:26:01.170> something<00:26:02.022> because<00:26:02.745> as<00:26:02.841> you<00:26:03.002> kind<00:26:03.147> of<00:26:03.645> get<00:26:03.789> that<00:26:03.966> geometric<00:26:04.448> effect,<00:26:04.770> like<00:26:04.930> what<00:26:05.091> is<00:26:05.236> it?

00:26:05.332 --> 00:26:13.369
So,<00:26:08.479> for<00:26:08.624> Life360<00:26:09.350> and<00:26:09.447> me,<00:26:09.754> which<00:26:09.867> is<00:26:10.012> that<00:26:10.173> generic<00:26:10.561> leader,<00:26:10.722> like<00:26:12.013> I<00:26:12.110> am<00:26:12.271> extremely<00:26:12.836> assertive.

00:26:13.465 --> 00:26:22.129
I<00:26:13.546> have<00:26:13.740> no<00:26:14.208> regard<00:26:14.595> for<00:26:14.660> social<00:26:15.017> norms,<00:26:15.422> which<00:26:15.585> is<00:26:15.731> why<00:26:15.812> I<00:26:15.974> kind<00:26:16.088> of<00:26:16.315> lean<00:26:16.461> in<00:26:16.542> here<00:26:16.607> and<00:26:16.656> I'm<00:26:17.370> more<00:26:17.613> persistent<00:26:18.181> than<00:26:18.344> almost<00:26:18.749> anybody,<00:26:19.869> which<00:26:20.031> can<00:26:20.129> lead<00:26:20.291> to<00:26:20.372> stubbornness<00:26:20.940> and<00:26:21.021> a<00:26:21.102> bit<00:26:21.249> of<00:26:21.411> obstinance<00:26:21.833> if<00:26:21.914> I'm<00:26:21.995> not<00:26:22.109> careful.

00:26:23.412 --> 00:26:31.266
And<00:26:23.509> so<00:26:23.637> I<00:26:23.733> think<00:26:23.877> as<00:26:23.957> we've<00:26:24.118> scaled,<00:26:24.454> I've<00:26:24.695> tried<00:26:24.951> to<00:26:25.111> figure<00:26:25.400> out<00:26:25.720> how<00:26:25.800> do<00:26:25.961> I<00:26:25.993> maintain<00:26:26.522> those<00:26:26.778> things<00:26:27.964> while<00:26:28.044> also<00:26:28.525> growing<00:26:28.926> in<00:26:29.006> ways<00:26:29.326> I<00:26:29.342> need<00:26:30.705> to<00:26:30.865> grow.

00:26:31.971 --> 00:26:35.881
And<00:26:32.051> so<00:26:32.532> I<00:26:32.692> think<00:26:33.093> it's<00:26:33.333> hard<00:26:33.589> to<00:26:33.654> have<00:26:33.830> a<00:26:33.894> generic<00:26:34.375> answer<00:26:34.856> because<00:26:35.144> like,<00:26:35.352> what<00:26:35.449> are<00:26:35.497> you<00:26:35.593> trying<00:26:35.769> to<00:26:35.849> do?

00:26:35.929 --> 00:26:37.644
Are<00:26:35.994> you<00:26:36.074> trying<00:26:36.234> to<00:26:36.635> maintain<00:26:37.131> something?

00:26:37.756 --> 00:26:39.247
Are<00:26:37.821> you<00:26:37.917> trying<00:26:38.045> to<00:26:38.093> disrupt<00:26:38.574> something?

00:26:40.161 --> 00:26:41.443
What<00:26:40.321> type<00:26:40.481> of<00:26:40.641> business<00:26:41.186> are<00:26:41.347> you?

00:26:41.523 --> 00:26:43.767
Like,<00:26:41.683> I<00:26:41.699> don't<00:26:41.923> think<00:26:42.068> I<00:26:42.148> could<00:26:42.308> ever<00:26:42.484> run<00:26:42.645> a<00:26:42.661> sales-led<00:26:43.286> business.

00:26:44.872 --> 00:26:50.274
I<00:26:44.888> don't<00:26:45.049> think<00:26:45.209> anyone<00:26:45.594> would<00:26:45.754> want<00:26:45.850> to<00:26:45.994> hire<00:26:46.331> me<00:26:46.876> as<00:26:47.116> like<00:26:47.357> a<00:26:47.533> take<00:26:48.479> a<00:26:48.575> scaled<00:26:49.136> business<00:26:49.536> and<00:26:49.681> manage<00:26:50.081> it.

00:26:50.963 --> 00:26:52.565
I'm<00:26:51.444> the<00:26:51.716> more<00:26:51.924> disruptor<00:26:52.405> archetype.

00:26:54.790 --> 00:26:55.894
And<00:26:54.871> I<00:26:54.920> don't<00:26:55.034> want<00:26:55.212> to<00:26:55.310> do<00:26:55.358> this<00:26:55.537> forever.

00:26:55.942 --> 00:26:58.068
So<00:26:56.089> I've<00:26:56.575> been<00:26:56.673> trying<00:26:56.835> to<00:26:56.916> figure<00:26:57.143> out<00:26:57.224> like,<00:26:57.387> well,<00:26:57.484> what<00:26:57.711> am<00:26:57.809> I<00:26:57.955> good<00:26:58.036> at?

00:26:58.117 --> 00:27:00.600
And<00:26:58.295> what<00:26:58.458> are<00:26:58.490> my<00:26:58.701> 3<00:26:58.945> things<00:26:59.123> that<00:26:59.269> I've<00:26:59.594> been<00:26:59.756> above<00:27:00.064> average<00:27:00.470> at?

00:27:02.713 --> 00:27:07.195
And<00:27:02.733> that's<00:27:02.894> helping<00:27:03.622> me<00:27:03.848> kind<00:27:03.961> of<00:27:04.026> frame<00:27:05.158> what<00:27:05.336> is<00:27:05.481> my<00:27:05.788> role<00:27:06.031> here<00:27:06.370> going<00:27:06.694> forward?

00:27:08.052 --> 00:27:09.426
What<00:27:08.213> are<00:27:08.246> the<00:27:08.310> things<00:27:08.634> that<00:27:08.779> I<00:27:08.860> want<00:27:08.957> to<00:27:09.038> delegate?

00:27:09.474 --> 00:27:10.962
Because<00:27:09.555> I'm<00:27:09.684> just<00:27:09.846> never<00:27:10.105> going<00:27:10.202> to<00:27:10.331> be<00:27:10.412> good<00:27:10.574> at<00:27:10.719> them.

00:27:11.058 --> 00:27:14.974
What<00:27:11.220> are<00:27:11.253> the<00:27:11.350> things<00:27:11.530> that<00:27:12.120> I<00:27:12.202> don't<00:27:12.350> want<00:27:12.448> to<00:27:12.596> lose<00:27:12.842> in<00:27:12.924> the<00:27:13.006> company<00:27:13.350> that<00:27:13.826> got<00:27:14.006> us<00:27:14.170> to<00:27:14.252> where<00:27:14.482> we<00:27:14.646> are?

00:27:17.727 --> 00:27:21.298
Because<00:27:17.880> it's<00:27:17.982> very<00:27:18.254> easy<00:27:18.594> to<00:27:19.443> As<00:27:19.524> you<00:27:19.622> get<00:27:19.850> bigger,<00:27:20.045> you<00:27:20.175> kind<00:27:20.338> of<00:27:20.370> get<00:27:20.517> pulled<00:27:20.761> in<00:27:20.842> so<00:27:20.940> many<00:27:21.070> directions.

00:27:23.960 --> 00:27:27.744
What<00:27:24.025> do<00:27:24.057> you<00:27:24.253> know<00:27:24.482> now<00:27:24.808> that<00:27:24.955> you<00:27:25.134> wish<00:27:25.444> you<00:27:25.542> had<00:27:25.705> known<00:27:26.700> at<00:27:26.782> the<00:27:26.912> beginning<00:27:27.239> of<00:27:27.336> your<00:27:27.500> career?

00:27:30.489 --> 00:27:31.051
There's<00:27:30.704> so<00:27:30.836> many.

00:27:34.280 --> 00:27:37.994
Um,<00:27:34.300> I<00:27:34.478> never<00:27:34.945> thought<00:27:35.268> this<00:27:35.446> would<00:27:35.607> be<00:27:35.768> like<00:27:35.994> a<00:27:36.413> 17-year<00:27:37.607> journey.

00:27:38.817 --> 00:27:47.116
I<00:27:38.978> assumed<00:27:40.204> most<00:27:40.511> likely<00:27:40.849> would<00:27:41.091> fail<00:27:41.656> and<00:27:41.753> I<00:27:41.801> was<00:27:41.850> gonna<00:27:41.995> go<00:27:42.043> back<00:27:42.140> to<00:27:42.285> business<00:27:42.479> school<00:27:42.785> and<00:27:42.866> just<00:27:43.350> try<00:27:43.430> to<00:27:43.560> make<00:27:43.686> money<00:27:43.955> in<00:27:44.028> a<00:27:44.046> very<00:27:44.680> boring<00:27:45.099> way,<00:27:45.744> uh,<00:27:46.390> financial<00:27:46.648> security.

00:27:47.777 --> 00:27:51.246
I<00:27:47.858> just<00:27:48.019> assumed<00:27:48.261> this<00:27:48.407> would<00:27:48.568> fail,<00:27:49.617> uh,<00:27:50.423> or<00:27:50.601> that<00:27:50.730> would<00:27:50.843> be<00:27:51.004> quick.

00:27:51.343 --> 00:27:54.167
So<00:27:51.875> I<00:27:51.956> was<00:27:52.134> not<00:27:52.360> intentional<00:27:53.586> falling<00:27:53.973> in<00:27:54.054> here.

00:27:54.231 --> 00:28:01.381
So<00:27:54.392> I<00:27:54.424> just<00:27:54.697> think<00:27:55.035> the—<00:27:56.304> as<00:27:56.657> you<00:27:56.786> get<00:27:56.946> older,<00:27:57.107> like,<00:27:57.509> the—<00:27:57.686> just<00:27:57.991> how<00:27:58.087> these<00:27:58.312> little<00:27:58.553> choices<00:27:58.955> you<00:27:58.987> make<00:27:59.212> early<00:27:59.453> on<00:27:59.694> can,<00:27:59.838> like,<00:28:00.160> have<00:28:00.401> decade-long<00:28:00.979> impact.

00:28:02.666 --> 00:28:05.536
I<00:28:02.698> don't<00:28:02.891> think<00:28:02.987> I'd<00:28:03.068> necessarily<00:28:03.389> do<00:28:03.469> anything<00:28:03.710> differently<00:28:04.000> because<00:28:04.177> I<00:28:04.194> got<00:28:04.436> lucky,<00:28:05.035> very,<00:28:05.310> very<00:28:05.472> lucky.

00:28:06.119 --> 00:28:12.754
Uh,<00:28:08.076> that's<00:28:08.464> interesting<00:28:08.917> to<00:28:08.982> me,<00:28:09.160> just<00:28:09.354> that<00:28:09.596> whole<00:28:09.774> butterfly<00:28:10.179> effect,<00:28:10.502> a<00:28:10.567> little<00:28:10.729> decision<00:28:11.068> here<00:28:11.230> and<00:28:12.028> entire<00:28:12.415> life.

00:28:14.189 --> 00:28:14.350
Yeah.

00:28:14.834 --> 00:28:16.914
Another<00:28:15.301> one,<00:28:15.559> this<00:28:15.656> is<00:28:15.737> super<00:28:16.349> more<00:28:16.607> cliché.

00:28:18.982 --> 00:28:24.603
One<00:28:19.304> bad<00:28:19.868> piece<00:28:20.110> of<00:28:20.190> advice<00:28:20.577> I<00:28:20.593> think<00:28:20.754> people<00:28:20.915> get<00:28:21.076> is<00:28:21.156> like,<00:28:21.559> hey,<00:28:21.704> when<00:28:21.785> you're<00:28:21.946> estimating,<00:28:22.767> realize<00:28:23.089> things<00:28:23.250> are<00:28:23.315> harder<00:28:23.508> than<00:28:23.572> they<00:28:23.637> are,<00:28:23.733> so<00:28:23.959> double<00:28:24.216> the<00:28:24.378> time.

00:28:26.365 --> 00:28:29.637
The<00:28:26.446> reason<00:28:26.770> that's<00:28:26.948> bad<00:28:27.207> advice<00:28:28.406> is<00:28:28.471> that<00:28:28.552> you<00:28:28.633> think<00:28:28.811> you<00:28:28.876> only<00:28:29.054> need<00:28:29.200> to<00:28:29.297> double.

00:28:29.702 --> 00:28:31.856
It's<00:28:29.848> like,<00:28:30.091> you<00:28:30.123> know<00:28:30.188> what,<00:28:30.269> it's<00:28:30.431> probably<00:28:31.144> 100x.

00:28:32.618 --> 00:28:41.976
And<00:28:32.699> that<00:28:32.861> might<00:28:33.120> sound,<00:28:33.671> when<00:28:33.784> you<00:28:33.817> have<00:28:33.914> a<00:28:33.995> big,<00:28:34.157> big,<00:28:34.319> big,<00:28:34.465> big<00:28:34.530> vision,<00:28:35.471> I'm<00:28:35.617> not<00:28:35.942> exaggerating<00:28:36.591> that<00:28:36.835> because<00:28:37.078> each<00:28:37.322> time<00:28:37.565> you<00:28:37.647> get<00:28:37.890> bigger,<00:28:38.523> add<00:28:38.702> more<00:28:38.929> people,<00:28:39.189> the<00:28:39.335> complexity<00:28:39.920> gets<00:28:40.868> grows<00:28:41.286> exponentially.

00:28:42.089 --> 00:28:47.727
So<00:28:42.410> when<00:28:42.555> I<00:28:42.715> look<00:28:42.892> at<00:28:43.840> the<00:28:43.920> Life360<00:28:44.562> vision,<00:28:45.141> I,<00:28:45.446> I<00:28:45.848> probably<00:28:46.731> oversimplified<00:28:47.470> by<00:28:47.518> 100.

00:28:48.899 --> 00:29:00.545
So<00:28:48.980> I<00:28:49.076> do<00:28:49.237> think<00:28:49.462> there<00:28:49.638> is<00:28:50.024> a<00:28:51.469> theme<00:28:51.726> where<00:28:51.887> people<00:28:52.128> think<00:28:52.594> they're<00:28:52.851> putting<00:28:53.092> in<00:28:53.172> buffer<00:28:53.654> and<00:28:54.361> just—<00:28:54.553> it's<00:28:55.180> when<00:28:55.324> you<00:28:55.421> don't<00:28:55.662> know<00:28:55.822> what<00:28:55.967> you're<00:28:56.128> doing,<00:28:57.188> just<00:28:57.493> how<00:28:57.814> hard<00:28:58.168> it<00:28:58.296> is<00:28:58.537> to<00:28:58.617> do<00:28:58.874> anything<00:28:59.758> is<00:29:00.304> just<00:29:00.416> insane.

00:29:01.589 --> 00:29:09.282
Uh,<00:29:01.926> so<00:29:02.071> I<00:29:02.264> don't<00:29:02.488> think<00:29:02.729> that's<00:29:03.051> novel<00:29:03.452> advice<00:29:03.854> about<00:29:04.030> the<00:29:04.079> need<00:29:04.255> to<00:29:04.336> focus<00:29:04.818> and<00:29:04.962> all<00:29:05.075> that,<00:29:05.524> but<00:29:06.889> I<00:29:06.986> always<00:29:07.307> thought<00:29:07.547> it<00:29:07.596> was,<00:29:07.692> yeah,<00:29:07.885> oh,<00:29:08.093> I<00:29:08.190> doubled<00:29:08.511> the<00:29:08.591> estimate,<00:29:08.960> I'm<00:29:09.073> good.

00:29:10.277 --> 00:29:14.548
I'm<00:29:10.389> still<00:29:10.999> oversimplifying<00:29:11.706> and<00:29:12.043> I<00:29:12.123> still<00:29:12.348> have<00:29:12.525> not<00:29:14.034> solved<00:29:14.371> that.

00:29:14.596 --> 00:29:17.936
I'm<00:29:15.013> always<00:29:16.298> shocked<00:29:16.699> by<00:29:16.860> how<00:29:17.085> hard<00:29:17.422> things<00:29:17.647> are<00:29:17.743> to<00:29:17.823> do.

00:29:17.984 --> 00:29:32.129
But<00:29:18.128> the<00:29:18.209> positive<00:29:18.546> side,<00:29:18.706> the<00:29:18.803> reason<00:29:19.043> startups<00:29:19.525> exist<00:29:20.713> is<00:29:20.858> that<00:29:21.500> this<00:29:21.661> is<00:29:21.789> just<00:29:22.303> the<00:29:22.463> rule<00:29:22.640> of<00:29:22.801> nature<00:29:23.122> is<00:29:23.282> you<00:29:23.427> get<00:29:24.486> bigger,<00:29:25.048> just<00:29:25.819> heck<00:29:26.012> that<00:29:26.477> bigger<00:29:26.670> surface<00:29:27.120> area<00:29:27.457> prominence,<00:29:28.581> get<00:29:28.902> a<00:29:28.982> few<00:29:29.223> advantages,<00:29:29.865> but<00:29:30.042> it's<00:29:30.267> the<00:29:30.588> old<00:29:30.748> analogies<00:29:31.262> like<00:29:31.455> you're<00:29:31.551> a<00:29:31.631> battleship.

00:29:32.177 --> 00:29:36.432
When<00:29:32.257> you<00:29:32.338> turn<00:29:32.498> the<00:29:32.579> battleship,<00:29:33.060> you<00:29:33.141> can<00:29:33.478> bulldoze<00:29:33.799> everybody,<00:29:34.280> but<00:29:35.040> You<00:29:35.137> lose<00:29:35.315> that<00:29:35.461> agility<00:29:35.882> of<00:29:35.963> a<00:29:36.027> speedboat.

00:29:37.630 --> 00:29:42.666
We<00:29:37.711> should<00:29:37.808> be<00:29:37.906> happy<00:29:38.197> about<00:29:38.456> that<00:29:38.780> because<00:29:39.104> it's<00:29:39.250> the<00:29:39.347> only<00:29:39.509> reason<00:29:39.832> that<00:29:40.480> these<00:29:40.723> mega<00:29:40.966> monopolies<00:29:41.452> don't<00:29:41.921> own<00:29:42.018> the<00:29:42.099> entire<00:29:42.439> world.

00:29:45.548 --> 00:29:45.612
Yeah.

00:29:45.661 --> 00:29:46.599
Yeah,<00:29:45.855> that's<00:29:46.049> a<00:29:46.114> good<00:29:46.259> point.

00:29:47.811 --> 00:29:50.171
Finally,<00:29:48.619> well,<00:29:48.846> I<00:29:48.862> have<00:29:49.007> two<00:29:49.282> final<00:29:49.654> questions<00:29:50.058> for<00:29:50.139> you.

00:29:51.242 --> 00:30:10.361
One<00:29:51.633> is,<00:29:52.041> as<00:29:52.204> a<00:29:52.237> CEO,<00:29:52.791> and<00:29:53.199> I<00:29:53.215> think<00:29:53.443> you<00:29:53.525> realize<00:29:53.933> this<00:29:54.177> and<00:29:54.405> probably<00:29:54.813> are<00:29:54.846> more<00:29:55.074> aware<00:29:55.302> of<00:29:55.335> this<00:29:55.547> probably<00:29:55.808> more<00:29:55.971> than<00:29:56.378> most<00:29:56.704> leaders,<00:29:57.707> is<00:29:57.804> your<00:29:57.966> responsibility<00:29:58.923> that<00:29:59.037> seems—<00:29:59.410> society<00:29:59.929> seems<00:30:00.237> to<00:30:00.319> be<00:30:00.562> handing<00:30:01.032> you<00:30:01.276> these<00:30:01.535> days<00:30:02.426> of<00:30:02.538> speaking<00:30:03.083> out<00:30:03.548> and<00:30:03.725> being<00:30:04.029> public<00:30:04.606> and<00:30:04.670> expressing<00:30:05.248> your<00:30:05.392> opinions<00:30:06.033> on<00:30:06.209> things<00:30:06.450> that<00:30:06.610> really<00:30:06.835> have<00:30:07.011> nothing<00:30:07.203> to<00:30:07.316> do<00:30:07.380> with<00:30:07.476> your<00:30:07.652> business<00:30:08.117> expertise<00:30:09.015> or<00:30:09.255> life<00:30:09.961> at<00:30:10.041> all,<00:30:10.281> right?

00:30:11.019 --> 00:30:18.569
I<00:30:11.163> wonder,<00:30:11.804> I<00:30:11.820> don't<00:30:12.782> really<00:30:13.007> care,<00:30:13.488> or<00:30:14.289> I'm<00:30:14.626> not<00:30:14.770> trying<00:30:14.898> to<00:30:14.962> like<00:30:15.091> get<00:30:15.251> your<00:30:15.363> opinion<00:30:15.812> on<00:30:16.053> like<00:30:16.453> on<00:30:16.630> that,<00:30:17.014> like<00:30:17.175> what<00:30:17.271> is<00:30:17.351> your<00:30:17.495> opinion<00:30:17.832> on<00:30:17.912> like<00:30:18.073> the<00:30:18.137> state<00:30:18.297> of<00:30:18.393> things?

00:30:18.954 --> 00:30:23.587
But<00:30:19.179> I<00:30:19.275> would<00:30:19.435> love<00:30:19.740> to<00:30:19.820> know<00:30:19.980> your<00:30:20.141> opinion<00:30:20.477> on<00:30:20.557> like,<00:30:20.958> how<00:30:21.134> does<00:30:21.343> it<00:30:21.423> feel<00:30:22.064> to<00:30:22.225> have<00:30:22.465> that<00:30:22.706> responsibility?

00:30:24.709 --> 00:30:27.611
I<00:30:25.190> have<00:30:25.351> an<00:30:25.768> extremely<00:30:26.553> independent<00:30:27.146> streak.

00:30:27.917 --> 00:30:30.578
And<00:30:28.323> I<00:30:28.501> do<00:30:28.598> not,<00:30:29.394> I<00:30:29.475> am<00:30:29.637> uncontrollable.

00:30:31.017 --> 00:30:33.418
And<00:30:31.163> that<00:30:31.341> is,<00:30:31.503> so<00:30:31.666> when<00:30:31.812> I<00:30:31.925> feel<00:30:32.299> constrained,<00:30:32.883> I<00:30:32.964> get<00:30:33.191> angry.

00:30:34.020 --> 00:30:43.971
And<00:30:34.068> I<00:30:34.197> think<00:30:34.374> a<00:30:34.390> lot<00:30:34.615> of<00:30:34.760> why<00:30:36.226> some<00:30:36.548> tech<00:30:36.773> leaders,<00:30:37.031> and<00:30:37.369> I'm<00:30:37.739> not<00:30:37.916> going,<00:30:38.174> I'm<00:30:38.271> saying<00:30:38.641> this<00:30:38.866> generically,<00:30:39.301> like<00:30:39.510> have<00:30:39.688> kind<00:30:39.865> of<00:30:39.929> flipped<00:30:40.332> a<00:30:40.348> little<00:30:40.718> way<00:30:41.137> to<00:30:41.298> the<00:30:41.443> right<00:30:41.781> in<00:30:41.845> libertarianism<00:30:42.522> is<00:30:42.586> that<00:30:42.763> feeling<00:30:43.150> of<00:30:43.311> being<00:30:43.456> controlled.

00:30:44.036 --> 00:30:46.664
Because<00:30:44.262> I<00:30:44.342> think<00:30:45.068> we<00:30:45.229> all<00:30:45.342> have<00:30:45.487> our<00:30:45.632> different<00:30:45.890> soft<00:30:46.228> underbellies.

00:30:46.712 --> 00:30:55.146
I<00:30:46.776> think<00:30:46.938> aggressive<00:30:47.421> assertive<00:30:47.744> founders,<00:30:48.953> that<00:30:49.259> feeling<00:30:49.533> of<00:30:49.678> being<00:30:50.065> controlled<00:30:50.951> is,<00:30:52.630> it<00:30:52.698> just<00:30:52.936> gives<00:30:53.122> you<00:30:53.207> a<00:30:53.359> reflex<00:30:53.885> of<00:30:54.054> like,<00:30:54.467> Ah,<00:30:54.790> anger.

00:30:56.342 --> 00:30:57.167
So<00:30:56.569> I<00:30:56.649> don't<00:30:56.827> like<00:30:57.086> it.

00:30:57.296 --> 00:30:58.169
I<00:30:57.393> fricking<00:30:57.717> hate<00:30:57.943> it.

00:30:58.784 --> 00:31:02.018
But<00:30:58.913> we<00:30:58.994> do<00:30:59.059> have<00:30:59.172> a<00:30:59.237> no<00:30:59.398> politics<00:31:01.112> rule<00:31:01.516> at<00:31:01.581> the<00:31:01.678> company.

00:31:02.099 --> 00:31:08.651
So<00:31:02.325> we<00:31:02.551> really<00:31:02.729> have<00:31:02.875> not,<00:31:03.683> I<00:31:03.715> think<00:31:03.910> we've<00:31:04.022> done<00:31:04.667> better<00:31:05.071> than<00:31:05.329> most<00:31:07.731> around<00:31:07.989> avoiding<00:31:08.457> that.

00:31:09.505 --> 00:31:17.124
And<00:31:09.650> one<00:31:09.828> thing<00:31:09.973> we<00:31:10.054> did<00:31:10.473> a<00:31:10.537> couple<00:31:10.795> years<00:31:11.021> ago,<00:31:11.440> more<00:31:11.570> proactively,<00:31:13.453> we<00:31:13.614> actually<00:31:14.162> moved<00:31:14.564> away<00:31:14.822> from<00:31:15.466> using<00:31:15.868> things<00:31:16.078> like<00:31:16.271> words<00:31:16.416> like<00:31:16.593> DEI.

00:31:18.606 --> 00:31:28.760
And<00:31:18.750> we,<00:31:18.911> and<00:31:18.992> this<00:31:19.185> is,<00:31:19.395> there's<00:31:19.556> no<00:31:19.829> secret<00:31:20.328> conservative<00:31:20.924> dog<00:31:21.150> whistle<00:31:21.420> here,<00:31:21.674> but<00:31:21.775> having<00:31:22.012> a<00:31:22.096> conversation<00:31:22.688> with<00:31:22.857> our<00:31:23.500> head<00:31:24.000> of<00:31:24.160> people,<00:31:24.700> or<00:31:24.701> was<00:31:24.820> this,<00:31:25.060> this<00:31:25.061> was<00:31:25.200> getting<00:31:25.340> polarizing<00:31:26.200> and<00:31:26.520> he<00:31:26.740> had<00:31:26.860> different<00:31:27.000> views<00:31:27.219> than<00:31:27.400> me,<00:31:27.520> I<00:31:27.580> had<00:31:27.640> different<00:31:27.760> views<00:31:28.160> than<00:31:28.260> hers<00:31:28.460> externally.

00:31:28.860 --> 00:31:31.080
But<00:31:28.980> we<00:31:29.040> got<00:31:29.140> to<00:31:29.220> the<00:31:29.360> first<00:31:29.640> principles,<00:31:30.080> we<00:31:30.240> were<00:31:30.300> actually<00:31:30.440> pretty<00:31:30.680> aligned.

00:31:31.160 --> 00:31:33.860
So<00:31:31.180> like,<00:31:31.720> let's<00:31:32.100> just<00:31:32.320> zoom<00:31:32.760> out.

00:31:33.960 --> 00:31:36.410
Let's<00:31:34.100> talk<00:31:34.280> about<00:31:34.500> what<00:31:34.740> we<00:31:34.960> care<00:31:35.240> about<00:31:35.460> as<00:31:35.620> a<00:31:35.860> company.

00:31:36.720 --> 00:31:43.000
Because<00:31:36.920> almost<00:31:37.200> all,<00:31:37.780> if<00:31:37.840> you<00:31:37.920> actually<00:31:38.100> look<00:31:38.260> at<00:31:38.580> what<00:31:38.760> underlies,<00:31:39.600> take<00:31:39.800> the<00:31:39.940> politics<00:31:40.300> out,<00:31:41.780> there's<00:31:41.980> a<00:31:42.180> lot<00:31:42.300> of<00:31:42.500> alignment.

00:31:43.060 --> 00:31:44.640
And<00:31:43.180> so<00:31:43.300> we<00:31:43.380> were<00:31:43.480> like,<00:31:43.640> what<00:31:43.740> are<00:31:43.900> we<00:31:43.960> aligned<00:31:44.340> on?

00:31:44.640 --> 00:31:45.260
We're<00:31:44.800> trying<00:31:44.920> to<00:31:45.040> do.

00:31:45.260 --> 00:31:51.220
And<00:31:45.261> as<00:31:45.420> part<00:31:45.560> of<00:31:45.680> that,<00:31:45.900> we<00:31:45.920> just<00:31:46.080> said,<00:31:46.320> we<00:31:46.321> are<00:31:47.120> things<00:31:47.480> that<00:31:47.740> tie<00:31:48.360> to<00:31:48.640> political<00:31:49.140> affiliations<00:31:49.940> or<00:31:50.140> things<00:31:50.320> outside<00:31:50.640> the<00:31:50.840> mission.

00:31:51.220 --> 00:31:52.673
We're<00:31:51.632> We're<00:31:51.744> not<00:31:52.096> going<00:31:52.192> to<00:31:52.337> comment.

00:31:53.779 --> 00:31:58.217
And<00:31:53.875> so<00:31:54.115> I<00:31:54.259> think<00:31:54.355> that's<00:31:54.580> really<00:31:55.301> helped<00:31:55.621> us,<00:31:56.679> especially<00:31:57.143> after<00:31:57.384> October<00:31:57.736> 7th.

00:31:58.345 --> 00:31:59.883
We<00:31:58.441> just,<00:31:59.242> here's<00:31:59.386> our<00:31:59.483> policy.

00:31:59.947 --> 00:32:00.556
We<00:31:59.979> stayed<00:32:00.204> out<00:32:00.380> of<00:32:00.460> it.

00:32:00.748 --> 00:32:04.834
And<00:32:01.005> then<00:32:01.165> we've<00:32:01.373> had<00:32:01.549> a<00:32:01.566> lot<00:32:01.790> of<00:32:02.447> credibility<00:32:03.232> where<00:32:03.873> we're<00:32:03.969> not<00:32:04.273> picking<00:32:04.530> and<00:32:04.610> choosing.

00:32:04.898 --> 00:32:05.507
We're<00:32:04.962> just<00:32:05.090> not<00:32:05.315> in<00:32:05.411> there.

00:32:05.571 --> 00:32:11.195
And<00:32:05.667> so<00:32:05.892> we,<00:32:06.757> we<00:32:07.253> haven't<00:32:07.462> had<00:32:07.654> any<00:32:07.894> of<00:32:08.039> the<00:32:08.135> issues<00:32:08.439> that<00:32:08.519> many<00:32:08.760> companies<00:32:09.160> have<00:32:09.320> had<00:32:09.657> because<00:32:10.041> we've,<00:32:10.538> we've<00:32:10.682> been<00:32:10.842> consistent.

00:32:11.964 --> 00:32:14.960
We're<00:32:12.092> not<00:32:12.236> secretly<00:32:12.765> only<00:32:13.005> doing<00:32:13.262> it<00:32:13.342> when<00:32:13.486> it<00:32:13.887> favors<00:32:14.207> one<00:32:14.383> side<00:32:14.640> or<00:32:14.720> the<00:32:14.848> other.

00:32:15.008 --> 00:32:15.906
We're<00:32:15.104> just,<00:32:15.345> we're<00:32:15.425> just<00:32:15.649> out<00:32:15.745> of<00:32:15.841> it.

00:32:16.450 --> 00:32:18.117
Uh,<00:32:16.546> other<00:32:16.659> than<00:32:16.867> stuff<00:32:17.043> that<00:32:17.107> impacts<00:32:17.444> families<00:32:17.812> directly.

00:32:18.165 --> 00:32:26.279
So<00:32:18.373> we<00:32:18.533> are<00:32:18.790> thinking<00:32:19.014> about<00:32:19.270> getting<00:32:19.430> involved<00:32:19.767> in<00:32:19.831> like<00:32:20.474> limiting<00:32:20.812> screen<00:32:21.119> times<00:32:21.361> for<00:32:21.441> kids,<00:32:21.619> as<00:32:21.764> an<00:32:21.909> example,<00:32:22.167> because<00:32:22.296> it's<00:32:22.473> like<00:32:22.651> right<00:32:22.828> in<00:32:22.909> our<00:32:23.054> wheelhouse<00:32:23.457> as<00:32:23.538> a<00:32:23.683> business,<00:32:24.666> but<00:32:24.973> we're<00:32:25.699> otherwise<00:32:26.037> apolitical.

00:32:28.895 --> 00:32:29.543
Yeah,<00:32:29.057> that<00:32:29.203> makes<00:32:29.381> sense.

00:32:29.608 --> 00:32:35.037
Were<00:32:29.689> you<00:32:29.803> surprised<00:32:30.418> when<00:32:30.581> Coinbase<00:32:31.099> CEO<00:32:31.553> Brian<00:32:31.796> Armstrong<00:32:32.298> got<00:32:32.623> so<00:32:32.930> heavily<00:32:33.271> criticized<00:32:33.984> for<00:32:34.081> doing<00:32:34.794> that?

00:32:35.953 --> 00:32:39.111
And<00:32:36.211> maybe<00:32:36.501> you<00:32:36.597> were—<00:32:36.775> that<00:32:37.161> climate—<00:32:38.193> public<00:32:38.692> company?

00:32:39.820 --> 00:32:53.504
No,<00:32:39.901> I<00:32:40.062> was<00:32:40.223> not<00:32:40.400> surprised<00:32:41.254> the<00:32:41.415> criticism,<00:32:42.946> uh,<00:32:43.510> and<00:32:43.607> I'm<00:32:45.906> I'm<00:32:46.067> happy<00:32:46.565> that<00:32:46.790> that<00:32:47.127> is<00:32:47.288> now<00:32:47.528> more<00:32:47.834> than,<00:32:49.038> um,<00:32:49.617> some<00:32:49.857> companies<00:32:50.323> I<00:32:50.484> think<00:32:50.966> did<00:32:51.207> use<00:32:51.464> it<00:32:51.544> as<00:32:51.705> a<00:32:51.769> bit<00:32:51.865> of<00:32:52.010> a<00:32:52.411> right-wing<00:32:52.909> dog<00:32:53.150> whistle.

00:32:53.632 --> 00:33:02.386
I<00:32:53.712> can't<00:32:54.018> comment<00:32:54.371> on<00:32:54.499> whether<00:32:54.756> Coinbase<00:32:55.303> did<00:32:55.415> or<00:32:55.560> did<00:32:55.720> not<00:32:55.977> do<00:32:56.122> that,<00:32:56.909> but<00:32:56.989> I<00:32:57.005> think<00:32:57.150> you<00:32:57.310> are<00:32:57.407> seeing<00:32:57.551> a<00:32:57.567> lot<00:32:57.728> of<00:32:57.808> companies<00:32:58.515> like<00:32:58.756> us,<00:32:58.933> which<00:32:59.077> were<00:32:59.173> like,<00:32:59.334> this<00:32:59.511> is<00:32:59.655> not<00:33:00.201> us<00:33:00.458> aligning<00:33:01.486> left<00:33:01.968> or<00:33:02.065> right.

00:33:02.466 --> 00:33:05.245
We<00:33:02.611> are<00:33:02.707> just<00:33:02.948> being<00:33:03.189> very<00:33:03.494> clear<00:33:04.056> outside<00:33:04.329> of<00:33:04.394> any<00:33:04.554> controversy.

00:33:06.642 --> 00:33:11.333
If<00:33:06.723> you<00:33:06.819> are<00:33:06.948> looking<00:33:07.269> for<00:33:07.429> a<00:33:07.510> company<00:33:07.927> that<00:33:08.088> encourages<00:33:08.730> activism<00:33:09.293> any<00:33:09.453> direction,<00:33:09.871> we<00:33:10.015> are<00:33:10.048> not<00:33:10.256> the<00:33:10.337> right<00:33:10.497> company<00:33:10.963> for<00:33:11.204> you.

00:33:12.008 --> 00:33:20.365
Uh,<00:33:12.411> and<00:33:12.491> I<00:33:12.588> think<00:33:13.956> there<00:33:14.182> is<00:33:14.423> a<00:33:14.923> pretty<00:33:15.164> big<00:33:15.470> wave<00:33:15.808> of<00:33:16.130> companies<00:33:16.533> doing<00:33:16.774> that<00:33:17.000> now<00:33:18.545> in<00:33:18.610> a<00:33:18.642> very<00:33:18.948> non-political<00:33:19.656> way<00:33:19.753> that<00:33:19.978> is<00:33:20.075> effective.

00:33:20.961 --> 00:33:34.275
I<00:33:21.090> think<00:33:21.288> everyone,<00:33:23.200> I<00:33:23.264> think<00:33:23.377> there's<00:33:23.569> an<00:33:23.650> acknowledgement<00:33:24.373> things<00:33:24.566> got<00:33:24.791> a<00:33:24.807> little<00:33:25.032> bit,<00:33:26.140> um,<00:33:26.542> they<00:33:26.960> swung<00:33:27.201> too<00:33:27.361> far<00:33:27.683> in<00:33:27.779> terms<00:33:28.068> of<00:33:29.290> what<00:33:29.932> was<00:33:30.157> expected<00:33:30.800> at<00:33:30.977> work<00:33:31.539> and<00:33:31.845> what<00:33:32.183> was<00:33:32.426> productive<00:33:33.075> for<00:33:33.464> companies<00:33:34.048> or<00:33:34.129> society.

00:33:36.140 --> 00:33:36.351
Yeah.

00:33:37.296 --> 00:33:45.330
Uh,<00:33:37.472> finally,<00:33:37.857> we<00:33:38.018> ask<00:33:38.258> everybody<00:33:38.659> the,<00:33:38.980> this<00:33:39.156> question<00:33:39.717> to<00:33:39.781> end<00:33:39.958> every<00:33:40.198> interview,<00:33:40.680> and<00:33:40.760> that<00:33:40.936> is<00:33:41.080> at<00:33:41.161> CEO.com,<00:33:41.962> we<00:33:42.107> believe<00:33:42.347> the<00:33:42.443> chances<00:33:42.844> one<00:33:43.085> gives<00:33:43.486> is<00:33:43.566> just<00:33:43.807> as<00:33:43.887> important<00:33:44.207> as<00:33:44.288> the<00:33:44.368> chances<00:33:44.753> one<00:33:44.913> takes.

00:33:45.811 --> 00:33:49.676
When<00:33:45.971> you<00:33:46.212> hear<00:33:46.436> that,<00:33:46.853> who<00:33:47.014> gave<00:33:47.254> you<00:33:47.415> a<00:33:47.479> chance<00:33:47.912> to<00:33:48.617> get<00:33:48.842> you<00:33:48.954> to<00:33:49.082> where<00:33:49.243> you<00:33:49.403> are<00:33:49.499> today?

00:33:50.686 --> 00:33:52.995
Uh,<00:33:51.247> I<00:33:51.327> have,<00:33:51.504> uh,<00:33:51.680> so<00:33:52.001> many<00:33:52.386> of<00:33:52.610> them.

00:33:53.172 --> 00:33:58.447
I<00:33:53.412> will,<00:33:54.615> uh,<00:33:55.352> I<00:33:55.417> will<00:33:55.593> talk<00:33:55.850> about<00:33:57.838> two<00:33:58.063> people.

00:33:58.784 --> 00:34:03.659
Um,<00:33:59.602> one<00:33:59.907> was<00:34:00.147> I<00:34:00.564> enlisted<00:34:01.109> in<00:34:01.190> the<00:34:01.222> military<00:34:01.655> when<00:34:01.783> I<00:34:01.815> was<00:34:01.879> 17,<00:34:02.649> grew<00:34:02.809> up<00:34:02.954> middle<00:34:03.210> class.

00:34:04.153 --> 00:34:06.903
A<00:34:04.173> lot<00:34:04.350> of<00:34:04.398> military<00:34:04.815> people<00:34:05.024> in<00:34:05.072> startups,<00:34:05.377> they're<00:34:05.442> usually<00:34:05.683> officers,<00:34:06.052> but<00:34:06.325> I<00:34:06.405> was<00:34:06.518> a<00:34:06.582> grunt.

00:34:07.610 --> 00:34:16.107
I<00:34:07.931> came<00:34:08.734> out<00:34:09.377> and<00:34:09.618> I<00:34:09.698> went<00:34:09.939> to<00:34:10.035> a<00:34:10.116> community<00:34:10.581> college<00:34:11.866> and<00:34:13.890> one<00:34:14.051> of<00:34:14.083> my<00:34:14.211> professors<00:34:14.757> there<00:34:14.838> really<00:34:15.095> took<00:34:15.320> me<00:34:15.400> under<00:34:15.641> his<00:34:15.817> wing.

00:34:17.247 --> 00:34:27.318
And<00:34:18.227> the<00:34:18.323> first<00:34:18.773> non-friends<00:34:19.287> and<00:34:19.431> family<00:34:19.753> check<00:34:20.074> came<00:34:20.315> from<00:34:20.780> him<00:34:21.744> and<00:34:21.841> he<00:34:21.905> actually<00:34:22.065> gave<00:34:22.178> me<00:34:22.274> the<00:34:22.322> basement<00:34:22.644> of<00:34:22.740> his<00:34:22.885> house<00:34:23.109> and<00:34:23.190> he<00:34:23.286> really<00:34:23.527> encouraged<00:34:24.169> me<00:34:24.732> to<00:34:26.177> do<00:34:26.338> something<00:34:26.514> a<00:34:26.579> little<00:34:26.820> bit<00:34:26.980> riskier.

00:34:27.478 --> 00:34:29.759
So<00:34:27.558> his<00:34:27.655> name's<00:34:27.864> Robert<00:34:28.217> Kennedy,<00:34:29.149> no<00:34:29.245> affiliation.

00:34:30.357 --> 00:34:31.441
The<00:34:30.421> Robert<00:34:30.680> Kennedy<00:34:30.923> you're<00:34:31.085> thinking<00:34:31.328> of.

00:34:32.461 --> 00:34:41.252
And<00:34:32.606> so<00:34:32.865> he<00:34:34.726> really<00:34:35.374> was<00:34:35.520> such<00:34:35.681> a<00:34:35.698> great<00:34:35.957> mentor<00:34:36.410> to<00:34:36.491> me<00:34:37.219> and<00:34:37.802> a<00:34:37.947> community<00:34:38.368> college<00:34:38.660> professor<00:34:40.222> who<00:34:40.302> took<00:34:40.544> that<00:34:40.769> chance<00:34:41.027> on<00:34:41.172> me.

00:34:41.494 --> 00:34:47.099
And<00:34:41.558> then<00:34:41.671> another<00:34:41.977> one,<00:34:42.219> I<00:34:42.396> have<00:34:42.879> a<00:34:42.960> board<00:34:43.185> member<00:34:43.443> who<00:34:43.523> gave<00:34:43.700> me<00:34:43.845> a<00:34:43.862> first<00:34:46.084> check<00:34:46.277> on<00:34:46.406> truly<00:34:46.744> arm's<00:34:46.986> length.

00:34:47.147 --> 00:34:54.579
He's<00:34:47.292> actually<00:34:47.614> with<00:34:47.888> me<00:34:48.292> today,<00:34:49.569> James<00:34:49.844> Singh,<00:34:50.765> who<00:34:50.862> has<00:34:51.023> been<00:34:51.136> along<00:34:51.508> the<00:34:51.589> journey<00:34:51.848> the<00:34:51.961> whole<00:34:52.138> way<00:34:52.397> and<00:34:52.704> a<00:34:52.720> lot<00:34:53.852> of<00:34:53.884> support.

00:34:54.805 --> 00:34:55.662
Those<00:34:55.048> are<00:34:55.145> early<00:34:55.371> ones.

00:34:55.710 --> 00:34:58.637
I<00:34:55.726> also<00:34:55.840> have<00:34:55.889> a<00:34:55.955> chairman,<00:34:56.369> John<00:34:56.618> Coghlan,<00:34:56.932> who's<00:34:57.032> been<00:34:57.280> a<00:34:57.363> great<00:34:57.694> mentor<00:34:58.190> for<00:34:58.373> me.

00:34:59.262 --> 00:34:59.632
Over<00:34:59.423> the<00:34:59.503> years.

00:34:59.680 --> 00:35:04.368
He<00:34:59.744> was<00:34:59.840> CEO<00:35:00.210> of<00:35:00.306> Visa<00:35:00.627> and<00:35:02.795> joined<00:35:02.971> our<00:35:03.116> board<00:35:03.356> in<00:35:03.437> the<00:35:03.517> seed<00:35:03.838> stage.

00:35:05.283 --> 00:35:08.623
Kind<00:35:05.428> of<00:35:05.460> a<00:35:05.588> weird<00:35:05.829> board<00:35:06.022> member,<00:35:06.311> like<00:35:06.439> CEO<00:35:06.873> of<00:35:06.953> Visa<00:35:07.210> seed<00:35:07.451> company,<00:35:07.611> but<00:35:07.707> now<00:35:07.948> Republic<00:35:08.334> has<00:35:08.494> been.

00:35:08.735 --> 00:35:10.389
So<00:35:08.879> I've<00:35:09.457> had<00:35:09.618> a<00:35:09.634> mentor<00:35:10.035> that's<00:35:10.164> in<00:35:10.260> there.

00:35:10.437 --> 00:35:13.230
So<00:35:11.127> those<00:35:11.304> are<00:35:11.384> the<00:35:11.448> 3<00:35:11.545> that<00:35:11.689> come<00:35:11.801> to<00:35:11.866> mind<00:35:12.171> within<00:35:12.331> the<00:35:12.412> business<00:35:12.733> context.

00:35:13.712 --> 00:35:22.655
I<00:35:13.728> feel<00:35:14.033> badly<00:35:14.434> for<00:35:14.659> not<00:35:15.093> saying<00:35:15.558> more<00:35:16.104> because<00:35:16.345> there<00:35:16.409> are<00:35:16.441> so<00:35:16.666> many,<00:35:17.084> but<00:35:17.196> since<00:35:17.790> this<00:35:17.902> is<00:35:18.047> a<00:35:18.914> Life360-esque<00:35:20.038> interview,<00:35:20.455> that<00:35:20.680> was,<00:35:20.937> uh,<00:35:21.820> that<00:35:21.980> was<00:35:22.141> my<00:35:22.301> chain.

00:35:22.703 --> 00:35:28.299
And,<00:35:23.586> and<00:35:23.666> I'd<00:35:23.907> also<00:35:24.148> thank<00:35:24.308> my<00:35:24.469> parents<00:35:24.870> for<00:35:25.352> They<00:35:25.658> were<00:35:25.900> always<00:35:26.141> like,<00:35:26.399> don't<00:35:27.107> worry<00:35:27.349> about<00:35:27.623> security.

00:35:28.734 --> 00:35:35.797
I<00:35:28.878> have<00:35:29.040> all<00:35:29.072> sorts<00:35:29.313> of<00:35:29.394> issues,<00:35:31.551> but<00:35:31.954> they<00:35:32.276> were<00:35:32.421> like,<00:35:32.840> be<00:35:33.001> independent,<00:35:33.757> spread<00:35:34.595> your<00:35:34.740> wings,<00:35:35.341> take<00:35:35.585> risks.

00:35:35.895 --> 00:35:39.132
They<00:35:35.992> never<00:35:36.301> tried<00:35:36.562> to<00:35:37.538> put<00:35:37.700> me<00:35:38.270> in<00:35:38.351> a<00:35:38.432> box<00:35:38.774> or<00:35:38.839> bucket.

00:35:39.181 --> 00:35:39.734
And<00:35:39.230> I<00:35:39.311> appreciate<00:35:39.636> that.

00:35:41.693 --> 00:35:43.003
Chris,<00:35:42.017> thank<00:35:42.195> you<00:35:42.275> so<00:35:42.405> much<00:35:42.582> for<00:35:42.663> coming<00:35:42.890> on.

00:35:43.164 --> 00:35:44.587
Seriously,<00:35:43.617> congrats<00:35:44.037> on<00:35:44.102> what<00:35:44.264> you've<00:35:44.360> built.

00:35:44.668 --> 00:35:45.266
It's<00:35:44.829> unbelievable.

00:35:45.314 --> 00:35:46.543
Again,<00:35:45.492> I<00:35:45.637> use<00:35:45.815> the<00:35:45.912> product<00:35:46.284> every<00:35:46.462> day.

00:35:46.623 --> 00:35:47.997
I<00:35:46.769> use<00:35:47.108> Tile<00:35:47.529> every<00:35:47.755> day.

Everything<00:35:48.886> you'd<00:35:49.129> like,<00:35:49.371> it's<00:35:49.598> very<00:35:49.856> rare<00:35:50.244> that<00:35:50.519> somebody<00:35:50.891> comes<00:35:51.133> on<00:35:51.295> here<00:35:51.459> and<00:35:51.706> I<00:35:51.789> literally<00:35:52.218> interact<00:35:52.615> with<00:35:52.714> their<00:35:52.862> product<00:35:53.209> every<00:35:53.374> day.

00:35:53.556 --> 00:35:53.721
So.

00:35:54.320 --> 00:35:56.920
