# What John Petrie got right

John Petrie sat down with the CEO.com Podcast in October 2023, in the first days after the Hamas attack on Israel, and did something most executives are careful not to do. He made specific predictions.

Hezbollah would turn the north into a real second front. Israel would fight house to house and tunnel to tunnel. American ground forces would stay out unless Iran entered the war directly, and if Iran did, somebody would have to step in to keep it from spreading. Economic instability, not ideology, would determine how long the fighting lasted.

Nearly three years of evidence are now available. Most of what he described has happened. The scenario he called the tinderbox has not, and the reason it hasn't is worth as much attention as the rest.

Petrie was, at the time, a senior security executive at NTT, the Japanese telecommunications conglomerate that runs [986 companies in more than 180 countries on over $110 billion in annual revenue](https://hackervalley.com/cyberranch/enterprise-security-architecture:-a-dollar110b-case-study-w-john-petrie/?ref=ceo.com). He described his own role as deputy CSO for the international business. His formal title was [Senior Vice President and Counsellor to the NTT Global CISO](https://www.leadcig.com/our-members?ref=ceo.com). Before that he was a Marine, a graduate of the Defense Intelligence College, and [a charter member of the Marine Corps Intelligence Association](https://www.rsaconference.com/experts/john-petrie?ref=ceo.com). He was in the Persian Gulf in 1979 and dealt with Hezbollah and other groups in Beirut in 1983.

"I have experience in this area, and unfortunately, most of it has been negative," he said on the CEO.com Podcast. "I've seen this picture before."

## The second front

Hezbollah [had begun firing rockets into Israel on October 8, 2023](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/israel-hezbollah-ceasefire-netanyahu-war-lebanon-gaza-hamas/?ref=ceo.com), the day after the Hamas attack, so Petrie was reading a signal already on the board. He used it to forecast where they would go.

"I think the second thing that Israel has to be concerned about is a two-front war," he said. "Hezbollah is much more capable than Hamas is, although Hamas had huge successes in the context of warfare. But Hezbollah is more sophisticated with their weaponry."

It took 11 months. Israel escalated sharply in September 2024, killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and launched ground operations in southern Lebanon. A ceasefire brokered by the United States and France [took effect at 4 a.m. on November 27, 2024](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/israel-hezbollah-ceasefire-netanyahu-war-lebanon-gaza-hamas/?ref=ceo.com). Lebanon's health ministry counted almost 3,800 dead and about 16,000 wounded.

## Iran, and the line Petrie drew

On American involvement, he was careful, and he drew a specific line.

"Do we get US forces on the ground? I don't think we do unless Iran directly gets involved," he said. "However, if Iran does get involved, I think somebody's going to have to step in and prevent that from spreading."

In June 2025, Israel struck Iranian nuclear facilities, scientists, and military leadership. Days later, the United States bombed Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan, [the first direct American military attack on Iran's nuclear program](https://www.justsecurity.org/114556/collection-israel-iran-conflict/?ref=ceo.com). Twelve days, then a ceasefire.

That was the small version. On February 28, 2026, American and Israeli forces launched a joint campaign that [killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the commander of the Revolutionary Guard, and the defense minister, and drew Iranian missile and drone retaliation against American bases and energy facilities across Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia](https://www.justsecurity.org/114556/collection-israel-iran-conflict/?ref=ceo.com). The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs said the operation ran [38 days and destroyed Iran's ballistic missile capability, its navy, and its defense industrial base](https://www.whitehouse.gov/releases/2026/04/peace-through-strength-operation-epic-fury-crushes-iranian-threat-as-ceasefire-takes-hold/?ref=ceo.com). The White House announced a ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in April. The conflict is [still listed as ongoing](https://www.britannica.com/event/2026-Iran-war?ref=ceo.com).

Petrie's line held. The United States entered when Iran entered, and it entered from the air and the sea. There has been no American ground invasion of Iran.

## Where the analysis broke

The scenario Petrie called the tinderbox was simultaneity. Russia pushing in Ukraine, Iran escalating through proxies, and China moving on Taiwan while American forces were committed elsewhere.

"How bad could it get? Could get really, really bad," he said. "And the United States, historically, has never fought a three-front war."

China did not move on Taiwan. Pressure across the strait has continued and intensified, but there has been no blockade and no invasion.

The squeeze arrived anyway, in a form Petrie did not name. [Trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia have been suspended since February 2026, when the war in Iran broke out](https://english.nv.ua/nation/russia-shows-no-signs-of-ceasefire-readiness-on-the-battlefield-50633527.html?ref=ceo.com). Russian forces kept advancing in the east through the summer while American attention sat in the Persian Gulf. Petrie predicted a bind produced by three simultaneous wars. What arrived was a bind produced by two, and it was enough to freeze the diplomacy on the third.

There has been no world war and no nuclear use. On his darkest scenario, Petrie was wrong, and it is the kind of wrong nobody minds.

## The standard he set for Israel, and what the record says

The most demanding thing Petrie said had nothing to do with prediction. Asked what proper tactics looked like in Gaza, he set a bar above the legal minimum.

"They have to execute the campaign within the laws of war," he said. "Bottom line is that they're going to have to exceed the laws of war. They're going to have to be extremely sensitive. They're going to have to be extremely cautious, and that's difficult to do in wartime."

He tied a consequence to it. Meet that standard, he said, and Israel keeps the support of like-minded nations.

The record since is contested and grim. In March 2024, the International Court of Justice reaffirmed the provisional measures it had ordered that January and, citing the spread of famine and starvation, [unanimously ordered Israel to ensure the unhindered provision at scale of humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza](https://www.icj-cij.org/node/203847?ref=ceo.com). In the same order, the Court called again for the immediate and unconditional release of the hostages held by Hamas. In November 2024 the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, finding reasonable grounds to believe they bore criminal responsibility for [the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare](https://www.un.org/unispal/document/icc-arrest-warrant-netanyahu-21nov24/?ref=ceo.com). In August 2025, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification [confirmed famine in Gaza Governorate](https://www.ipcinfo.org/ipc-country-analysis/details-map/en/c/1159696/?ref=ceo.com). In September 2025, a UN Commission of Inquiry concluded that Israel had committed [four of the five genocidal acts defined by the 1948 Genocide Convention](https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2025/09/israel-has-committed-genocide-gaza-strip-un-commission-finds?ref=ceo.com).

Israel rejects all of it. Its Foreign Ministry [called the commission's report distorted and false and described the authors as Hamas proxies](https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/un-commission-of-inquiry-accuses-israel-of-genocide-in-gaza-and-urges-global-action?ref=ceo.com). Israel refused to cooperate with the inquiry, accuses it of anti-Israel bias, and maintains it has fought in self-defense and within international law. About 1,200 people were killed in Israel on October 7\. Tens of thousands have been killed in Gaza since.

Petrie predicted none of this. What he did was name the test, in public, at a moment when almost nobody was naming tests. Whether it was met is now a question for courts rather than podcasts.

## The economy, which he called correctly and for the right reason

The last prediction is the one that landed closest to his own company.

"In every war that you could go back in history, the lack of a stable economy has always driven the worst in people," Petrie said, "therefore, the extension of the time it takes to solve a war problem or to come to a peaceful solution."

Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz shortly after the February 2026 strikes. [Roughly 84 percent of the crude that transits Hormuz goes to Asia](https://fortune.com/2026/03/21/iran-war-asia-energy-crisis-hormuz-oil-lng-stagflation/?ref=ceo.com), and the asymmetry showed up immediately in the price. West Texas Intermediate ran near $100 a barrel while Dubai crude passed $160\. QatarEnergy declared force majeure on deliveries after Iranian strikes on the world's largest LNG export hub. South Korea capped fuel prices for the first time in 30 years. Thailand told officials to work from home.

Japan was squeezed hardest of the large economies, and in two directions at once. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi released roughly 80 million barrels from the national petroleum reserve. She also had to answer American pressure to help reopen the strait, and cited constitutional limits on the use of force as the reason for holding back.

Petrie made his case for economic stability as a peace condition while sitting inside a company whose home market runs on tankers passing through that strait. He was describing his own exposure and did not say so.

## The leadership answer

He would not be drawn on American politics. On leadership as a discipline, he was direct, and his complaint was definitional.

"Nobody's really said that and nobody's really committed to what winning is, right?" he said.

His model was General Al Gray, who [enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1950, made sergeant, took a commission in April 1952, and retired in June 1991 as the 29th Commandant](https://www.usmcu.edu/Research/Marine-Corps-History-Division/People/Whos-Who-in-Marine-Corps-History/Gagnon-Ingram/General-Alfred-M-Gray-Jr/?ref=ceo.com). [Gray died in March 2024](https://www.marines.mil/News/Press-Releases/Press-Release-Display/Article/3712838/death-of-general-alfred-m-gray-29th-commandant-of-the-marine-corps/?ref=ceo.com), five months after this conversation.

"I think he was a Marine's Marine," Petrie said. "His only guiding principle was that leaders had to take the responsibility to take care of their Marines, no matter what the situations were; that was their first goal and objective. The second goal and objective was to win the battle."

Asked how he stayed optimistic, he said he had grandchildren, and that a leader's job is to tell the truth and then put it in context.

Petrie has since left NTT. His public profile now lists investment and advisory work rather than an operating role. His book [*From Private to CEO (And Some Stuff In Between)*](https://www.abebooks.com/9781951206000/Private-CEO-Stuff-Petrie-John-1951206002/plp?ref=ceo.com), published by Cumulus Publishing in 2019, covers the route from Marine private to chief executive, including the calls he would make differently.

Every CEO.com Podcast interview ends on the premise that the chances one gives matter as much as the chances one takes. Petrie's list of people who gave him one is long, and he declined to read it aloud. He said the names are in the book.

You<00:00:17.208> are<00:00:17.337> the<00:00:17.499> Global<00:00:18.081> Chief<00:00:18.565> Information<00:00:19.212> Security<00:00:19.761> Officer<00:00:20.423> at<00:00:20.650> NTT<00:00:21.231> Security.

00:00:22.120 --> 00:00:22.799
Let's<00:00:22.346> start<00:00:22.669> there.

00:00:23.089 --> 00:00:26.289
What<00:00:23.267> does<00:00:23.413> that<00:00:23.639> mean<00:00:24.059> and<00:00:24.285> what<00:00:24.528> is<00:00:25.174> NTT<00:00:25.772> Security?

00:00:29.195 --> 00:00:43.212
Actually,<00:00:29.682> I<00:00:29.780> am<00:00:29.926> the<00:00:30.105> counselor<00:00:30.820> to<00:00:30.999> the<00:00:31.161> global<00:00:31.633> CISO<00:00:32.624> for<00:00:32.852> NTT<00:00:33.518> globally,<00:00:36.080> and<00:00:36.257> I<00:00:36.759> have<00:00:37.163> been<00:00:37.406> the<00:00:38.684> global<00:00:39.039> CISO<00:00:39.751> for<00:00:39.913> NTT<00:00:40.317> Security,<00:00:41.530> which<00:00:41.757> is<00:00:41.870> our<00:00:42.177> go-to-market<00:00:42.986> business.

00:00:44.400 --> 00:00:46.261
And<00:00:44.483> so<00:00:45.098> I<00:00:45.247> carry—<00:00:45.679> I<00:00:45.995> see.

00:00:48.273 --> 00:00:56.450
And<00:00:48.517> so<00:00:48.842> today,<00:00:51.019> I<00:00:51.279> am<00:00:52.751> really<00:00:53.397> the<00:00:53.559> Deputy<00:00:53.979> CSO<00:00:54.690> for<00:00:55.029> our<00:00:55.287> international<00:00:56.160> business.

00:00:56.563 --> 00:01:03.930
And<00:00:56.644> it<00:00:56.676> might<00:00:57.048> be<00:00:58.001> easier<00:00:58.663> to<00:00:58.744> start<00:00:59.213> out<00:00:59.471> with<00:00:59.778> sort<00:01:00.020> of<00:01:00.570> organizationally<00:01:01.495> what<00:01:01.722> we<00:01:02.939> at<00:01:03.102> NTT<00:01:03.751> are.

00:01:04.482 --> 00:01:07.485
First<00:01:04.725> of<00:01:04.806> all,<00:01:05.001> NTT<00:01:05.537> is<00:01:05.699> a<00:01:05.780> $110<00:01:06.365> billion<00:01:07.079> corporation.

00:01:08.409 --> 00:01:20.209
It<00:01:08.441> is<00:01:08.667> a<00:01:08.763> global<00:01:09.231> multinational<00:01:10.941> corporation<00:01:11.731> with<00:01:12.054> several<00:01:12.457> lines<00:01:12.861> of<00:01:13.022> business,<00:01:13.909> primarily<00:01:14.716> telecom<00:01:15.458> with<00:01:19.084> business<00:01:19.550> in<00:01:19.711> ICT.

00:01:20.434 --> 00:01:24.835
We<00:01:20.594> also<00:01:20.835> have<00:01:21.413> financial,<00:01:22.923> uh,<00:01:23.742> real<00:01:23.967> estate,<00:01:24.401> etc.

00:01:24.883 --> 00:01:27.035
So<00:01:25.493> very<00:01:25.831> large<00:01:26.312> conglomerate.

00:01:27.180 --> 00:01:35.596
We're<00:01:27.276> in<00:01:27.340> 123<00:01:28.947> countries<00:01:30.087> with<00:01:30.569> actual<00:01:30.954> delivery<00:01:31.452> capability<00:01:32.191> and<00:01:32.304> 180+<00:01:34.006> countries<00:01:34.488> with<00:01:34.584> sales<00:01:35.130> offices.

00:01:36.656 --> 00:01:43.900
NTT<00:01:37.315> Security<00:01:38.054> is<00:01:38.423> really<00:01:38.825> a,<00:01:39.467> a<00:01:39.724> small<00:01:41.154> corporation<00:01:42.053> underneath<00:01:42.535> the<00:01:42.696> umbrella<00:01:43.081> of<00:01:43.242> NTT.

00:01:44.382 --> 00:01:55.278
It<00:01:44.766> operates<00:01:45.439> in<00:01:45.968> several<00:01:46.289> countries<00:01:46.801> and<00:01:46.929> provides<00:01:47.971> security<00:01:48.468> solutions<00:01:49.333> both<00:01:49.653> in<00:01:50.455> managed<00:01:50.935> security<00:01:51.528> service<00:01:52.057> providing<00:01:53.355> as<00:01:53.579> well<00:01:53.755> as<00:01:53.980> individual<00:01:54.781> products.

00:01:56.319 --> 00:02:00.405
So<00:01:57.585> hopefully<00:01:57.921> that<00:01:58.082> gives<00:01:58.322> the<00:01:58.482> audience<00:01:58.883> a<00:01:58.899> little<00:01:59.203> bit<00:01:59.428> of<00:01:59.684> context.

00:02:01.687 --> 00:02:07.183
And<00:02:01.767> those<00:02:01.863> services,<00:02:02.408> are<00:02:02.568> they<00:02:02.664> for<00:02:03.594> companies<00:02:04.171> or<00:02:04.315> government,<00:02:04.956> governments<00:02:05.533> or<00:02:05.693> both<00:02:06.174> or<00:02:06.334> organizations?

00:02:07.840 --> 00:02:08.625
All<00:02:08.000> of<00:02:08.160> the<00:02:08.321> above.

00:02:09.442 --> 00:02:11.029
We<00:02:09.923> are<00:02:10.019> client<00:02:10.500> bases.

00:02:11.942 --> 00:02:14.396
A<00:02:12.022> number<00:02:12.808> of<00:02:12.905> governments,<00:02:13.450> which<00:02:13.690> I<00:02:13.787> won't<00:02:14.188> detail.

00:02:15.535 --> 00:02:24.870
And<00:02:15.776> our<00:02:15.872> clients<00:02:16.497> range<00:02:16.754> from<00:02:17.620> large<00:02:17.877> Fortune<00:02:18.743> 100<00:02:19.465> to<00:02:20.780> sort<00:02:21.165> of<00:02:21.245> the<00:02:21.550> top<00:02:22.769> end<00:02:22.945> of<00:02:23.074> small-medium<00:02:23.892> business,<00:02:24.597> right?

00:02:24.934 --> 00:02:35.809
So<00:02:26.618> generally<00:02:27.019> speaking,<00:02:27.565> our<00:02:27.661> services<00:02:28.447> are<00:02:28.607> a<00:02:28.703> little<00:02:28.848> bit<00:02:29.088> more<00:02:29.329> expensive<00:02:29.826> than,<00:02:30.227> you<00:02:30.628> know,<00:02:30.789> a<00:02:31.029> local<00:02:32.296> mom-and-pop<00:02:33.098> provider,<00:02:34.702> you<00:02:35.039> know,<00:02:35.264> would<00:02:35.440> use.

00:02:36.964 --> 00:02:40.075
But<00:02:37.365> in<00:02:37.525> general<00:02:37.846> speaking,<00:02:38.311> we<00:02:38.407> cover<00:02:38.792> the<00:02:39.209> entire<00:02:39.610> spectrum.

00:02:41.301 --> 00:02:44.777
Let<00:02:41.349> me<00:02:41.479> ask<00:02:41.626> you<00:02:41.707> this:<00:02:41.950> how<00:02:42.064> do<00:02:42.194> you<00:02:42.373> view<00:02:42.763> the<00:02:42.941> current<00:02:43.429> security<00:02:44.160> of<00:02:44.306> the<00:02:44.485> world?

00:02:47.400 --> 00:02:59.237
So<00:02:47.901> as<00:02:48.062> a<00:02:48.143> Japanese<00:02:48.725> corporation,<00:02:50.245> uh,<00:02:50.650> obviously<00:02:51.458> we're<00:02:51.717> very<00:02:51.895> sensitive<00:02:52.687> to,<00:02:53.722> um,<00:02:54.369> the<00:02:54.530> impact<00:02:55.015> potentially<00:02:55.759> of,<00:02:56.471> of<00:02:56.632> China<00:02:56.956> and<00:02:57.054> the<00:02:57.202> decisions<00:02:57.793> China<00:02:58.056> makes<00:02:58.450> geopolitically.

00:03:00.360 --> 00:03:07.132
Uh,<00:03:00.876> NTT<00:03:01.440> is,<00:03:01.827> is<00:03:02.004> a,<00:03:03.375> is<00:03:03.601> a<00:03:03.681> critical<00:03:04.020> service<00:03:04.423> provider<00:03:05.310> for<00:03:05.912> the<00:03:06.056> government<00:03:06.458> of<00:03:06.618> Japan.

00:03:07.181 --> 00:03:08.980
That's<00:03:07.438> public,<00:03:08.321> uh,<00:03:08.562> knowledge.

00:03:09.670 --> 00:03:13.815
Uh,<00:03:09.847> we<00:03:10.008> provide<00:03:10.795> all<00:03:10.972> kinds<00:03:11.293> of<00:03:11.373> services,<00:03:11.855> including<00:03:12.819> telecommunications.

00:03:13.927 --> 00:03:20.063
I<00:03:14.024> also<00:03:14.313> might<00:03:14.666> note<00:03:14.987> that<00:03:15.855> the<00:03:15.935> government<00:03:16.256> of<00:03:16.337> Japan<00:03:16.979> owns<00:03:17.220> about<00:03:17.542> 33%<00:03:18.441> of<00:03:18.586> our<00:03:19.003> telecom<00:03:19.566> business.

00:03:20.835 --> 00:03:28.449
Uh,<00:03:20.931> so<00:03:21.573> for<00:03:21.798> those<00:03:22.120> who<00:03:22.200> are<00:03:22.377> in<00:03:22.457> the<00:03:22.537> business<00:03:22.923> for<00:03:23.003> a<00:03:23.019> while,<00:03:23.356> it's<00:03:23.646> the<00:03:23.726> old<00:03:23.983> AT&T<00:03:24.642> model<00:03:25.573> back<00:03:25.894> 30<00:03:26.232> years<00:03:26.553> ago,<00:03:27.581> uh,<00:03:27.822> or<00:03:27.983> longer.

00:03:29.107 --> 00:03:39.280
So<00:03:29.348> from<00:03:29.525> a<00:03:29.605> geopolitical<00:03:30.489> perspective,<00:03:31.372> we<00:03:31.597> are<00:03:32.175> obviously<00:03:32.657> concerned<00:03:34.487> locally<00:03:34.984> within,<00:03:36.090> you<00:03:36.266> know,<00:03:36.587> the<00:03:36.972> Western<00:03:37.308> Pacific<00:03:38.029> and<00:03:38.494> what<00:03:38.671> China<00:03:39.071> does.

00:03:39.376 --> 00:03:48.385
We're<00:03:40.113> certainly<00:03:40.594> concerned<00:03:41.171> about<00:03:41.540> the<00:03:41.700> Taiwan<00:03:43.784> scenario<00:03:44.986> and<00:03:45.387> what<00:03:45.868> could<00:03:46.445> happen<00:03:46.862> in<00:03:47.006> that<00:03:47.263> area.

00:03:48.433 --> 00:04:00.359
However,<00:03:48.930> we<00:03:49.090> are<00:03:49.331> a<00:03:49.411> global<00:03:49.811> company,<00:03:50.292> so<00:03:51.414> geopolitics<00:03:52.152> across<00:03:52.601> the<00:03:52.761> world<00:03:53.643> have<00:03:54.139> direct<00:03:54.701> impact<00:03:55.165> on<00:03:55.262> us<00:03:55.406> from<00:03:55.582> a<00:03:55.598> security<00:03:56.143> perspective,<00:03:57.361> certainly<00:03:58.307> from<00:03:58.548> a<00:03:58.628> cybersecurity<00:03:59.734> perspective.

00:04:01.017 --> 00:04:12.449
As<00:04:01.178> a,<00:04:01.434> as<00:04:01.659> a,<00:04:01.996> the<00:04:02.157> third<00:04:02.462> largest<00:04:02.880> telecom<00:04:03.442> in<00:04:03.506> the<00:04:03.602> world,<00:04:04.871> we<00:04:05.047> have<00:04:05.368> concerns<00:04:06.476> across<00:04:06.974> multiple<00:04:07.456> fronts,<00:04:09.142> multiple<00:04:09.623> theaters,<00:04:10.169> if<00:04:10.330> you<00:04:10.490> will,<00:04:10.667> in<00:04:10.747> military<00:04:12.016> terms.

00:04:13.381 --> 00:04:21.072
We<00:04:13.541> are<00:04:13.718> concerned<00:04:14.216> about<00:04:14.681> Russia<00:04:16.287> and,<00:04:16.672> and<00:04:16.833> what<00:04:17.009> they<00:04:17.250> do,<00:04:18.278> certainly<00:04:18.615> in<00:04:18.760> the<00:04:19.900> Ukraine<00:04:20.381> situation.

00:04:22.308 --> 00:04:34.223
Now<00:04:22.613> with<00:04:22.934> Israel<00:04:24.299> and<00:04:25.198> the<00:04:26.402> Palestinians<00:04:27.283> and<00:04:27.444> specifically<00:04:28.229> the<00:04:28.966> Hamas<00:04:29.527> group,<00:04:30.713> as<00:04:30.970> well<00:04:31.274> as<00:04:31.595> Iran<00:04:32.412> and<00:04:32.573> what<00:04:32.813> they<00:04:33.118> do<00:04:33.534> in<00:04:33.679> the<00:04:33.839> region.

00:04:35.538 --> 00:04:38.118
Those<00:04:35.922> three<00:04:36.179> areas<00:04:37.060> we<00:04:37.285> are<00:04:37.445> concerned<00:04:37.862> about.

00:04:38.182 --> 00:04:40.586
We<00:04:38.327> provide<00:04:38.743> services<00:04:39.320> in<00:04:39.609> all<00:04:39.705> of<00:04:39.849> those<00:04:40.106> regions.

00:04:41.949 --> 00:04:53.024
Let's<00:04:42.141> start<00:04:42.349> with<00:04:43.151> the<00:04:43.311> one<00:04:43.552> that's<00:04:43.952> top<00:04:44.257> of<00:04:44.337> mind<00:04:44.673> for<00:04:44.898> everyone,<00:04:45.699> and<00:04:46.196> who<00:04:46.356> knows<00:04:47.623> how<00:04:47.799> it<00:04:47.943> will<00:04:48.119> end<00:04:48.520> or<00:04:48.761> if<00:04:48.937> it<00:04:49.065> will<00:04:49.241> end<00:04:49.626> and<00:04:50.508> how<00:04:51.165> much<00:04:52.206> worse<00:04:52.447> it<00:04:52.607> gets<00:04:52.912> here.

00:04:53.088 --> 00:04:56.905
I<00:04:53.184> mean,<00:04:53.344> I<00:04:53.473> can't<00:04:53.649> imagine<00:04:54.050> it<00:04:54.130> getting<00:04:54.434> too<00:04:54.595> much<00:04:56.118> worse,<00:04:56.375> but<00:04:56.520> I<00:04:56.600> bet<00:04:56.712> it<00:04:56.776> will.

00:04:57.258 --> 00:05:02.313
Like,<00:04:57.964> this<00:04:58.140> is<00:04:58.365> a<00:04:58.606> crazy<00:04:58.943> thing<00:04:59.184> that—<00:04:59.729> have<00:04:59.890> you<00:04:59.954> ever<00:05:00.066> seen<00:05:00.227> anything<00:05:00.532> like<00:05:00.772> this<00:05:01.671> in<00:05:01.751> the<00:05:01.831> Middle<00:05:02.072> East?

00:05:03.500 --> 00:05:03.757
No.

00:05:03.982 --> 00:05:06.582
It's<00:05:05.266> interesting<00:05:05.571> you<00:05:05.827> ask<00:05:06.052> that<00:05:06.164> question.

00:05:06.662 --> 00:05:14.509
So<00:05:07.593> I<00:05:07.914> must<00:05:09.695> state<00:05:10.016> up<00:05:10.321> front,<00:05:11.781> I<00:05:11.942> identify<00:05:12.744> I<00:05:12.904> have<00:05:13.065> a<00:05:13.225> bias<00:05:13.723> in<00:05:13.867> this<00:05:14.108> area.

00:05:15.777 --> 00:05:21.811
My<00:05:16.660> first<00:05:16.916> experience<00:05:17.462> was<00:05:17.638> in<00:05:17.719> 1979<00:05:19.548> in<00:05:19.869> this<00:05:20.110> region,<00:05:20.447> specifically<00:05:21.073> with<00:05:21.249> Iran.

00:05:22.532 --> 00:05:33.209
My<00:05:22.773> second<00:05:23.190> experience<00:05:23.815> was<00:05:23.975> in<00:05:24.055> 1983<00:05:25.578> with<00:05:25.739> the<00:05:25.899> Beirut<00:05:26.364> bombing<00:05:27.662> and<00:05:27.887> dealing<00:05:28.384> with<00:05:29.169> primarily<00:05:29.650> Hezbollah<00:05:30.772> and<00:05:30.868> some<00:05:31.189> other<00:05:32.295> organizations.

00:05:33.818 --> 00:05:41.417
And<00:05:33.914> now<00:05:34.395> in<00:05:34.475> the<00:05:34.620> corporate<00:05:35.101> world,<00:05:36.559> I<00:05:36.720> am<00:05:36.880> involved<00:05:37.505> with<00:05:39.140> issues<00:05:39.525> that<00:05:39.910> are<00:05:40.166> in<00:05:40.407> Israel<00:05:40.727> specifically.

00:05:41.513 --> 00:05:50.753
We<00:05:41.689> do<00:05:41.914> have<00:05:42.106> a<00:05:42.250> presence<00:05:42.731> in<00:05:42.972> Israel<00:05:44.238> and<00:05:44.655> we<00:05:44.879> are<00:05:45.040> concerned,<00:05:45.921> obviously,<00:05:46.562> with<00:05:47.540> from<00:05:47.845> a<00:05:48.407> from<00:05:48.471> a<00:05:48.487> personnel<00:05:48.905> perspective,<00:05:49.467> we<00:05:49.612> have<00:05:49.789> people<00:05:50.094> on<00:05:50.255> the<00:05:50.351> ground.

00:05:50.898 --> 00:05:57.504
So<00:05:52.746> I<00:05:52.826> have<00:05:53.068> experience<00:05:53.646> in<00:05:53.791> this<00:05:54.032> area,<00:05:54.594> and<00:05:55.253> unfortunately<00:05:56.137> most<00:05:56.459> of<00:05:56.619> it<00:05:56.668> has<00:05:56.925> been<00:05:57.102> negative.

00:05:58.229 --> 00:06:15.317
And,<00:05:59.743> you<00:05:59.775> know,<00:06:00.306> I<00:06:00.467> have,<00:06:01.530> you<00:06:01.610> know,<00:06:01.836> personal<00:06:02.335> bias<00:06:03.221> in<00:06:03.301> that<00:06:03.768> I've<00:06:04.412> been<00:06:04.589> on<00:06:04.734> the<00:06:04.831> ground<00:06:06.425> in<00:06:06.490> these<00:06:07.553> areas<00:06:08.777> in<00:06:09.002> previous<00:06:09.985> life<00:06:10.613> and<00:06:10.710> have<00:06:11.032> experienced<00:06:11.580> some<00:06:11.837> of<00:06:11.918> the<00:06:12.143> worst<00:06:13.609> impacts<00:06:14.238> of<00:06:15.140> war.

00:06:16.267 --> 00:06:24.044
And<00:06:16.363> I<00:06:16.523> think<00:06:17.004> in<00:06:17.149> this<00:06:17.325> particular<00:06:17.870> case,<00:06:18.832> I<00:06:19.394> haven't<00:06:19.650> seen<00:06:20.035> anything<00:06:20.516> specific<00:06:21.735> like<00:06:21.975> we<00:06:22.071> saw<00:06:22.841> on<00:06:23.482> Saturday.

00:06:24.701 --> 00:06:33.809
And<00:06:24.797> so,<00:06:25.888> again,<00:06:26.305> I<00:06:26.529> think<00:06:27.748> everybody<00:06:28.149> has<00:06:28.373> to<00:06:28.549> form<00:06:28.774> their<00:06:29.095> own<00:06:30.073> personal<00:06:30.538> opinions<00:06:31.596> as<00:06:31.740> it<00:06:31.837> relates<00:06:32.318> to<00:06:32.959> cybersecurity.

00:06:33.905 --> 00:06:47.598
This<00:06:34.081> is<00:06:34.306> really<00:06:34.627> a<00:06:34.787> low-tech<00:06:35.444> war<00:06:36.711> initially<00:06:37.529> that<00:06:37.753> started<00:06:38.250> its<00:06:38.715> old<00:06:38.956> tactics<00:06:40.319> and<00:06:40.816> maybe<00:06:41.217> with<00:06:41.297> some<00:06:41.618> new<00:06:41.714> spins<00:06:42.323> on<00:06:42.500> some<00:06:42.740> of<00:06:42.820> the<00:06:43.350> the<00:06:43.542> warfare<00:06:44.023> tactics,<00:06:44.648> and<00:06:44.744> if<00:06:44.904> we<00:06:45.690> want<00:06:45.850> to<00:06:46.091> talk<00:06:46.411> about<00:06:46.556> that,<00:06:46.684> I<00:06:46.748> certainly<00:06:47.229> can.

00:06:48.255 --> 00:06:53.785
I<00:06:48.752> think<00:06:49.297> Israel<00:06:50.355> as<00:06:50.852> a<00:06:51.076> country<00:06:51.621> is<00:06:51.781> in<00:06:52.343> a<00:06:52.679> no-win<00:06:53.160> situation.

00:06:54.907 --> 00:07:01.175
They're<00:06:55.084> in<00:06:55.228> the<00:06:55.276> middle<00:06:57.152> of<00:06:57.472> a<00:06:57.633> region<00:06:57.969> that<00:06:58.434> doesn't<00:06:58.851> want<00:06:59.075> them<00:06:59.316> to<00:06:59.492> exist<00:07:00.614> as<00:07:00.710> a<00:07:00.855> people.

00:07:02.602 --> 00:07:14.393
And<00:07:02.698> now<00:07:03.900> it<00:07:04.141> looks<00:07:04.446> like,<00:07:04.718> at<00:07:04.942> least<00:07:05.263> in<00:07:06.786> news<00:07:07.091> today,<00:07:07.988> that<00:07:08.149> this<00:07:08.373> could<00:07:08.469> become<00:07:08.870> a<00:07:09.014> two-front<00:07:10.539> war<00:07:10.956> for<00:07:11.502> Israel,<00:07:12.386> a<00:07:12.643> very<00:07:13.269> difficult<00:07:13.687> situation.

00:07:15.277 --> 00:07:24.688
So<00:07:15.774> again,<00:07:16.417> we<00:07:16.561> can<00:07:16.658> take<00:07:16.899> that<00:07:17.156> in<00:07:17.846> whatever<00:07:18.585> direction<00:07:19.067> you<00:07:19.212> want<00:07:19.372> to<00:07:19.469> take,<00:07:19.870> but<00:07:20.577> I<00:07:20.898> do<00:07:21.059> have<00:07:21.219> experience<00:07:21.878> and<00:07:21.958> I've<00:07:22.263> seen<00:07:22.520> this<00:07:23.885> picture<00:07:24.207> before.

00:07:25.716 --> 00:07:27.595
Well,<00:07:25.909> I<00:07:25.957> have<00:07:26.070> a<00:07:26.134> bunch<00:07:26.375> of<00:07:26.439> questions<00:07:26.776> around<00:07:27.097> that.

00:07:27.660 --> 00:07:28.816
Maybe<00:07:27.965> we<00:07:28.045> start<00:07:28.286> with<00:07:28.447> this<00:07:28.704> one.

00:07:28.928 --> 00:07:40.963
What<00:07:29.041> do<00:07:29.169> you<00:07:29.346> believe<00:07:29.828> the<00:07:29.972> United<00:07:30.406> States'<00:07:31.113> role<00:07:31.659> is<00:07:33.442> in<00:07:33.602> this<00:07:33.843> conflict,<00:07:34.630> given<00:07:35.032> that<00:07:36.317> we're<00:07:36.478> allies<00:07:36.815> to<00:07:36.896> both<00:07:37.056> Palestine<00:07:37.844> and<00:07:39.291> Israel,<00:07:39.870> if<00:07:40.014> I'm<00:07:40.416> not<00:07:40.465> mistaken.

00:07:41.381 --> 00:07:44.339
Obviously,<00:07:41.638> we're<00:07:41.719> not<00:07:41.944> allies<00:07:42.265> of<00:07:42.362> Hamas,<00:07:42.924> though,<00:07:43.391> which<00:07:43.567> is<00:07:43.648> a<00:07:43.728> different<00:07:44.114> thing.

00:07:45.016 --> 00:07:48.537
And<00:07:45.098> so<00:07:46.431> what<00:07:46.546> do<00:07:46.661> you<00:07:46.760> think<00:07:46.925> the<00:07:46.990> United<00:07:47.254> States'<00:07:47.665> role<00:07:47.813> here<00:07:48.406> is?

00:07:50.359 --> 00:08:02.384
Well,<00:07:50.847> first<00:07:51.156> of<00:07:51.237> all,<00:07:51.643> I<00:07:51.822> think<00:07:52.229> it's<00:07:52.798> been<00:07:53.188> very<00:07:53.432> clearly<00:07:53.774> stated<00:07:54.262> by<00:07:55.303> the<00:07:55.400> president<00:07:56.539> in<00:07:56.685> his<00:07:56.929> recent<00:07:58.808> discussions<00:07:59.536> and<00:08:00.911> press<00:08:01.235> releases,<00:08:01.736> et<00:08:01.882> cetera.

00:08:02.448 --> 00:08:07.595
I<00:08:02.529> think<00:08:02.820> We're<00:08:02.918> going<00:08:03.245> to<00:08:03.294> stand<00:08:03.506> by<00:08:03.850> Israel<00:08:04.962> and<00:08:05.469> help<00:08:06.025> defend<00:08:06.467> if<00:08:06.614> we're<00:08:06.843> asked<00:08:07.023> to<00:08:07.186> do<00:08:07.350> that.

00:08:08.620 --> 00:08:23.418
Certainly,<00:08:08.813> we're<00:08:08.974> going<00:08:09.328> to<00:08:09.393> provide<00:08:10.906> material<00:08:11.792> and<00:08:12.130> support<00:08:12.646> and<00:08:13.064> humanitarian<00:08:14.514> assistance,<00:08:16.221> I<00:08:16.301> think,<00:08:16.929> to<00:08:17.026> both<00:08:17.267> sides,<00:08:18.899> both<00:08:18.947> the<00:08:19.078> Palestinian<00:08:19.747> people<00:08:20.873> and<00:08:21.705> the<00:08:21.934> Israeli<00:08:22.276> people<00:08:22.684> moving<00:08:23.011> forward.

00:08:24.943 --> 00:08:32.381
It<00:08:25.041> is<00:08:25.434> absolutely<00:08:26.006> important<00:08:26.513> to<00:08:26.758> differentiate<00:08:27.494> between<00:08:27.903> the<00:08:28.067> Palestinians<00:08:29.293> themselves<00:08:30.368> and<00:08:30.464> Hamas<00:08:31.012> as<00:08:31.125> a<00:08:31.189> terrorist<00:08:31.672> organization.

00:08:33.025 --> 00:08:38.550
And<00:08:33.106> so<00:08:33.267> I<00:08:33.444> think<00:08:33.686> the<00:08:33.766> United<00:08:34.104> States<00:08:34.636> has<00:08:34.958> to<00:08:36.665> have<00:08:37.309> a<00:08:37.471> very<00:08:37.873> unique<00:08:38.421> role.

00:08:39.730 --> 00:08:43.715
Now,<00:08:39.923> will<00:08:39.988> they—<00:08:40.407> will<00:08:40.569> the<00:08:40.714> United<00:08:41.069> States<00:08:41.601> get<00:08:41.779> into<00:08:42.263> it<00:08:42.666> with<00:08:42.892> people<00:08:43.134> on<00:08:43.296> the<00:08:43.376> ground?

00:08:44.619 --> 00:08:47.330
Sad<00:08:44.926> to<00:08:45.006> say,<00:08:45.248> we<00:08:45.394> already<00:08:45.571> have<00:08:45.797> people<00:08:46.297> on<00:08:46.378> the<00:08:46.523> ground.

00:08:47.572 --> 00:08:49.948
And<00:08:47.669> so<00:08:47.975> we're<00:08:48.137> already<00:08:48.459> involved,<00:08:48.863> at<00:08:48.960> least<00:08:49.187> in<00:08:49.273> a<00:08:49.308> support<00:08:49.550> perspective.

00:08:52.129 --> 00:08:55.319
We<00:08:52.210> have<00:08:52.389> people<00:08:52.796> that<00:08:53.024> are<00:08:53.268> providing<00:08:53.691> logistics<00:08:54.326> support,<00:08:54.750> etc.

00:08:55.913 --> 00:08:59.866
I'm<00:08:56.074> sure<00:08:56.540> we<00:08:56.700> have<00:08:57.022> people<00:08:57.343> on<00:08:57.439> the<00:08:57.584> ground<00:08:57.825> providing<00:08:58.387> intelligence-related<00:08:59.400> services.

00:08:59.930 --> 00:09:04.268
So<00:09:01.055> supporting<00:09:01.842> Israel,<00:09:02.180> I<00:09:02.405> think,<00:09:02.887> will<00:09:03.626> continue.

00:09:05.393 --> 00:09:08.366
Do<00:09:05.618> we<00:09:06.116> get<00:09:06.984> U.S.<00:09:07.402> forces<00:09:07.803> on<00:09:07.884> the<00:09:08.028> ground?

00:09:09.394 --> 00:09:12.543
I<00:09:09.410> don't<00:09:09.635> think<00:09:09.812> we<00:09:09.973> do<00:09:10.214> unless<00:09:10.680> Iran<00:09:11.178> directly<00:09:11.740> gets<00:09:11.981> involved.

00:09:12.929 --> 00:09:31.185
And<00:09:13.009> then<00:09:13.267> perhaps<00:09:13.909> that<00:09:14.311> is<00:09:15.661> a<00:09:15.677> scenario<00:09:16.400> where<00:09:16.625> we<00:09:16.737> might<00:09:17.203> provide<00:09:18.553> U.S.<00:09:18.955> forces<00:09:20.160> as<00:09:20.256> it<00:09:20.320> relates<00:09:20.819> to<00:09:22.320> providing<00:09:25.485> health<00:09:26.211> and<00:09:26.938> resources<00:09:27.745> that<00:09:29.764> will<00:09:29.926> help<00:09:30.184> the<00:09:30.329> populations.

00:09:31.234 --> 00:09:36.717
I<00:09:31.314> think<00:09:31.557> we'll<00:09:31.718> continue<00:09:32.122> to<00:09:32.267> do<00:09:32.428> that<00:09:32.686> through<00:09:33.718> organizations<00:09:34.524> such<00:09:34.702> as<00:09:34.943> the<00:09:35.588> Red<00:09:35.814> Cross,<00:09:36.233> et<00:09:36.330> cetera.

00:09:38.233 --> 00:09:51.102
I<00:09:38.249> don't<00:09:38.346> have<00:09:38.491> anywhere<00:09:38.749> near<00:09:39.055> your<00:09:39.216> extensive<00:09:40.103> worldview<00:09:41.217> and<00:09:41.555> international<00:09:42.750> and<00:09:43.250> kind<00:09:43.411> of<00:09:43.492> everything<00:09:44.040> that<00:09:44.767> you've<00:09:44.928> been<00:09:45.105> through<00:09:45.267> in<00:09:45.348> your<00:09:45.573> career,<00:09:46.961> but<00:09:47.106> I<00:09:47.268> have<00:09:47.768> been<00:09:48.010> surprised<00:09:48.978> by<00:09:49.220> the<00:09:49.366> reaction<00:09:49.884> within<00:09:50.218> the<00:09:50.368> United<00:09:50.735> States.

00:09:52.068 --> 00:09:55.667
And<00:09:52.244> that<00:09:52.630> it's<00:09:53.128> somewhat<00:09:53.835> of<00:09:54.012> a<00:09:54.173> divisive<00:09:55.474> issue.

00:09:55.715 --> 00:10:04.948
There<00:09:55.860> are<00:09:56.021> actually<00:09:56.423> people,<00:09:57.242> it<00:09:57.371> seems,<00:09:57.885> and<00:09:58.013> organizations,<00:09:58.576> it<00:09:58.672> seems,<00:09:59.235> I<00:09:59.251> don't<00:09:59.395> want<00:09:59.572> to<00:10:01.164> be<00:10:01.325> more<00:10:01.631> clear<00:10:01.824> than<00:10:01.969> that,<00:10:02.355> that<00:10:02.597> are<00:10:02.710> supporting<00:10:03.338> Hamas<00:10:03.821> within<00:10:04.062> the<00:10:04.127> United<00:10:04.610> States.

00:10:05.431 --> 00:10:14.818
What<00:10:05.528> has<00:10:05.672> been<00:10:05.978> your<00:10:07.508> reaction<00:10:08.474> to<00:10:08.796> how<00:10:09.859> the<00:10:09.924> United<00:10:10.278> States<00:10:10.745> people<00:10:11.453> have<00:10:11.614> reacted<00:10:11.984> to<00:10:12.049> what's<00:10:13.627> happening?

00:10:15.430 --> 00:10:26.351
I<00:10:15.494> think,<00:10:15.736> first<00:10:16.058> of<00:10:16.138> all,<00:10:16.686> let's<00:10:17.024> try<00:10:17.185> to<00:10:17.265> take<00:10:17.491> a<00:10:17.507> look<00:10:17.668> at<00:10:17.813> it<00:10:17.990> demographic-wise<00:10:19.278> first,<00:10:19.680> because<00:10:19.953> I<00:10:20.037> think<00:10:20.700> there's<00:10:20.876> an<00:10:20.956> extensive<00:10:21.534> difference<00:10:22.000> when<00:10:22.177> you<00:10:22.337> get<00:10:22.723> into<00:10:23.943> 30-plus,<00:10:24.890> 40<00:10:25.147> years<00:10:25.533> old<00:10:25.773> and<00:10:25.870> above.

00:10:26.833 --> 00:10:35.616
I<00:10:26.994> think<00:10:27.556> the<00:10:28.262> overall<00:10:29.643> population<00:10:30.446> in<00:10:30.526> that<00:10:30.831> demographic,<00:10:32.035> um,<00:10:32.999> probably<00:10:33.641> will,<00:10:34.460> uh,<00:10:34.556> support<00:10:35.263> Israel.

00:10:35.745 --> 00:10:38.699
They<00:10:36.050> will<00:10:36.226> not<00:10:36.788> support<00:10:37.334> Hamas<00:10:37.912> as<00:10:38.057> an<00:10:38.137> organization.

00:10:39.582 --> 00:11:00.113
When<00:10:39.678> you<00:10:39.775> start<00:10:40.160> getting<00:10:40.481> into<00:10:41.124> college-level,<00:10:42.826> uh,<00:10:43.050> demographics,<00:10:43.933> say<00:10:44.255> 21<00:10:44.961> to<00:10:45.218> 30,<00:10:46.504> And<00:10:46.585> certainly<00:10:47.312> in<00:10:47.393> your<00:10:47.571> more<00:10:48.605> Ivy<00:10:48.993> League<00:10:49.251> type<00:10:49.962> universities,<00:10:51.029> I<00:10:51.191> think<00:10:51.498> you<00:10:51.530> see<00:10:51.999> that<00:10:52.790> trend<00:10:53.275> of<00:10:53.437> support<00:10:54.812> to<00:10:54.974> Hamas<00:10:56.757> going<00:10:57.908> forward<00:10:58.476> and<00:10:59.108> at<00:10:59.205> a<00:10:59.270> higher<00:10:59.594> percentage.

00:11:01.104 --> 00:11:19.910
I<00:11:01.427> think<00:11:02.302> the<00:11:02.463> reason<00:11:03.435> for<00:11:03.775> the<00:11:03.936> differences<00:11:04.503> is<00:11:04.665> because<00:11:05.798> I<00:11:06.284> don't<00:11:06.591> believe<00:11:07.093> that<00:11:07.659> the<00:11:07.902> younger<00:11:08.388> generation<00:11:09.197> and<00:11:09.343> the<00:11:09.570> current<00:11:11.540> college-level<00:11:12.364> students,<00:11:12.994> if<00:11:13.140> you<00:11:13.382> will,<00:11:14.212> I<00:11:14.453> don't<00:11:14.693> believe<00:11:15.175> that<00:11:15.335> they<00:11:15.496> understand<00:11:16.042> that<00:11:16.138> there's<00:11:16.363> a<00:11:16.459> difference<00:11:16.940> between<00:11:17.406> Hamas<00:11:18.626> and<00:11:18.786> Palestinian<00:11:19.589> people.

00:11:20.552 --> 00:11:29.170
And<00:11:20.696> I<00:11:20.857> think<00:11:21.033> that's<00:11:21.755> been,<00:11:22.783> um,<00:11:24.083> primarily<00:11:25.126> the<00:11:25.351> fault<00:11:25.672> of<00:11:25.832> our<00:11:25.993> educators<00:11:26.570> have<00:11:26.811> not<00:11:27.052> been<00:11:27.277> able<00:11:27.517> to<00:11:27.694> differentiate<00:11:28.480> between<00:11:28.882> the<00:11:28.978> two.

00:11:30.101 --> 00:11:38.544
And<00:11:30.182> therefore,<00:11:30.583> I<00:11:30.824> think<00:11:31.129> the<00:11:31.305> student<00:11:31.706> population<00:11:32.589> draws<00:11:32.990> attention<00:11:33.552> to,<00:11:34.595> um,<00:11:35.382> that<00:11:36.104> Israel<00:11:36.441> is<00:11:36.618> attacking<00:11:37.404> the<00:11:37.484> Palestinian<00:11:38.271> people.

00:11:39.234 --> 00:11:41.497
And<00:11:39.330> I<00:11:39.491> think<00:11:39.812> I<00:11:39.892> think<00:11:39.988> that's<00:11:40.213> a<00:11:40.357> wrong<00:11:41.016> viewpoint.

00:11:41.818 --> 00:11:43.697
I,<00:11:42.220> I<00:11:42.525> certainly<00:11:42.926> don't<00:11:43.151> agree<00:11:43.408> with<00:11:43.600> it.

00:11:44.226 --> 00:12:02.608
And<00:11:44.371> having<00:11:44.692> been<00:11:44.869> there<00:11:45.591> and<00:11:45.736> understanding,<00:11:47.100> uh,<00:11:47.903> you<00:11:47.935> know,<00:11:48.144> the<00:11:48.304> difference<00:11:48.706> between,<00:11:50.070> uh,<00:11:50.407> a<00:11:50.568> general<00:11:51.210> Palestinian<00:11:52.173> family<00:11:52.735> or,<00:11:53.217> or<00:11:53.698> people<00:11:54.019> that<00:11:54.260> are<00:11:54.341> in<00:11:54.421> the<00:11:54.967> Palestinian<00:11:55.705> population,<00:11:57.230> most<00:11:57.696> of<00:11:57.776> them<00:11:57.953> do<00:11:58.113> not<00:11:58.290> support<00:11:59.060> Hamas<00:11:59.558> as<00:11:59.719> an<00:11:59.959> entity,<00:12:00.826> but<00:12:00.923> they're<00:12:01.164> forced<00:12:01.404> to<00:12:01.629> live<00:12:01.806> in<00:12:01.886> that<00:12:02.063> environment.

00:12:03.331 --> 00:12:13.649
Now,<00:12:03.732> there<00:12:03.957> are<00:12:04.053> some<00:12:04.374> people<00:12:04.663> who<00:12:04.776> would<00:12:04.872> say<00:12:05.257> that,<00:12:05.739> you<00:12:05.899> know,<00:12:06.060> they've<00:12:06.766> Taken,<00:12:07.568> you<00:12:07.600> know,<00:12:07.889> their<00:12:08.002> side<00:12:08.467> by<00:12:08.707> electing<00:12:09.654> Hamas<00:12:10.312> as<00:12:10.552> a,<00:12:10.857> as<00:12:11.034> a,<00:12:11.611> um,<00:12:11.932> as<00:12:12.494> a<00:12:12.638> governing<00:12:13.199> body.

00:12:14.306 --> 00:12:18.590
Um,<00:12:14.643> I'm<00:12:15.285> not<00:12:15.445> sure<00:12:15.686> they<00:12:15.847> had<00:12:16.087> much<00:12:16.328> of<00:12:16.424> a<00:12:16.488> choice,<00:12:17.114> but<00:12:17.852> neither<00:12:18.093> here<00:12:18.253> nor<00:12:18.478> there.

00:12:18.654 --> 00:12:29.595
I<00:12:18.815> think<00:12:18.959> the<00:12:19.055> bottom<00:12:19.440> line<00:12:19.713> is,<00:12:19.857> is<00:12:20.002> that<00:12:20.419> in<00:12:20.499> the,<00:12:20.724> within<00:12:20.980> the<00:12:21.125> demographics,<00:12:22.424> I<00:12:22.504> don't<00:12:22.729> think<00:12:22.906> the<00:12:22.986> younger<00:12:23.226> generation<00:12:24.109> understands<00:12:24.750> the<00:12:24.911> difference<00:12:25.376> between<00:12:26.114> Hamas,<00:12:26.595> the<00:12:26.676> terror<00:12:26.997> organization,<00:12:28.264> and<00:12:28.360> the<00:12:28.505> Palestinian<00:12:29.483> people.

00:12:29.644 --> 00:12:32.098
So<00:12:30.125> I<00:12:30.205> think<00:12:30.366> that's<00:12:30.606> what<00:12:30.767> drives<00:12:31.328> the<00:12:31.489> differences.

00:12:33.158 --> 00:12:41.892
And<00:12:33.880> why<00:12:34.121> we're<00:12:34.217> seeing<00:12:34.603> protests<00:12:35.165> because<00:12:35.437> of<00:12:35.582> that<00:12:36.610> clear<00:12:37.043> misunderstanding<00:12:38.938> by<00:12:39.098> the<00:12:39.195> people<00:12:39.500> that<00:12:39.741> are<00:12:40.463> coming<00:12:40.784> out<00:12:40.816> in<00:12:40.977> support<00:12:41.442> of<00:12:41.523> Hamas.

00:12:42.004 --> 00:12:52.361
Now,<00:12:42.631> having<00:12:43.064> said<00:12:43.353> all<00:12:43.530> of<00:12:43.610> that,<00:12:44.734> again,<00:12:45.489> to<00:12:45.858> show<00:12:46.356> a<00:12:46.404> little<00:12:46.580> bit<00:12:47.126> of<00:12:47.544> my<00:12:47.785> bias<00:12:48.250> here,<00:12:49.631> I<00:12:49.856> don't<00:12:50.032> support<00:12:50.819> Hamas<00:12:51.237> in<00:12:51.381> any<00:12:51.542> way,<00:12:51.718> shape,<00:12:51.959> or<00:12:52.184> form.

00:12:52.682 --> 00:12:54.673
Terrorist<00:12:53.067> organization<00:12:53.629> is<00:12:53.725> terrorist<00:12:54.111> organization.

00:12:55.251 --> 00:13:05.174
What<00:12:55.492> they've<00:12:55.877> done<00:12:56.391> and<00:12:56.519> the<00:12:56.615> atrocities<00:12:57.161> that<00:12:57.322> they've<00:12:57.579> committed<00:12:58.542> in<00:12:58.703> general<00:12:59.168> terms,<00:12:59.650> I<00:12:59.811> think,<00:13:00.068> is—<00:13:00.389> I,<00:13:00.630> I<00:13:00.774> can't<00:13:01.047> even<00:13:01.914> understand<00:13:02.540> why<00:13:02.861> human<00:13:03.199> beings<00:13:03.664> would<00:13:04.001> think<00:13:04.226> that's<00:13:04.499> even<00:13:04.724> acceptable.

00:13:05.752 --> 00:13:13.202
Now,<00:13:05.832> having<00:13:06.169> said<00:13:06.715> all<00:13:06.892> of<00:13:06.972> that,<00:13:07.454> again,<00:13:08.256> that's<00:13:08.481> probably<00:13:09.284> bias<00:13:09.702> on<00:13:09.734> my<00:13:10.023> part<00:13:10.264> because<00:13:10.649> I've<00:13:10.842> seen<00:13:11.291> those<00:13:11.869> atrocities<00:13:12.576> in<00:13:12.672> the<00:13:12.752> past.

00:13:13.876 --> 00:13:17.505
Not,<00:13:14.342> not<00:13:14.920> in<00:13:15.000> this<00:13:15.241> particular<00:13:15.723> incident<00:13:16.204> yet,<00:13:16.510> other<00:13:16.750> than<00:13:16.927> the<00:13:17.072> pictures.

00:13:18.276 --> 00:13:23.462
Uh,<00:13:18.677> but,<00:13:19.400> um,<00:13:20.138> you<00:13:20.203> know,<00:13:20.363> when—<00:13:20.700> whenever<00:13:21.182> these<00:13:21.567> kinds<00:13:21.840> of<00:13:21.969> things<00:13:22.145> occur,<00:13:22.531> I<00:13:22.563> don't<00:13:22.852> care<00:13:23.093> who<00:13:23.189> they<00:13:23.350> are.

00:13:24.057 --> 00:13:34.239
They're<00:13:24.154> doing<00:13:24.396> these<00:13:24.702> kinds<00:13:25.106> of<00:13:26.397> actions<00:13:27.300> and<00:13:27.639> atrocities,<00:13:29.624> then<00:13:31.076> any<00:13:31.399> right<00:13:32.045> human<00:13:32.303> being<00:13:33.255> could<00:13:33.320> not<00:13:33.578> support<00:13:33.997> this.

00:13:35.674 --> 00:13:37.932
How<00:13:35.835> bad<00:13:36.077> can<00:13:36.642> this<00:13:36.884> get<00:13:37.222> over<00:13:37.384> the<00:13:37.464> next<00:13:37.706> month?

00:13:40.280 --> 00:13:49.594
Well,<00:13:40.474> certainly<00:13:41.945> the<00:13:42.172> Israelis<00:13:43.045> appear<00:13:43.530> to<00:13:43.643> have<00:13:43.789> decided<00:13:44.355> that<00:13:44.516> they're<00:13:44.743> going<00:13:45.082> to<00:13:46.360> root<00:13:46.602> out<00:13:46.845> Hamas<00:13:48.139> as<00:13:48.397> completely<00:13:49.109> as<00:13:49.206> they<00:13:49.432> can.

00:13:50.367 --> 00:13:56.598
Which<00:13:50.611> means<00:13:50.855> they'll<00:13:51.165> have<00:13:51.409> to<00:13:51.506> go<00:13:51.750> in<00:13:51.994> and<00:13:52.173> it's<00:13:52.385> going<00:13:52.482> to<00:13:52.629> be<00:13:52.808> an<00:13:53.458> urban<00:13:53.784> combat<00:13:54.288> situation<00:13:55.069> within<00:13:56.305> Gaza.

00:13:58.482 --> 00:14:05.279
They're<00:13:58.578> going<00:13:58.965> to<00:13:59.013> have<00:13:59.078> to<00:13:59.206> fight<00:13:59.851> house<00:14:00.173> to<00:14:00.318> house,<00:14:00.801> tunnel<00:14:01.139> to<00:14:01.300> tunnel,<00:14:02.895> you<00:14:02.927> know,<00:14:03.459> person<00:14:03.797> to<00:14:03.877> person,<00:14:04.344> identify<00:14:05.085> them.

00:14:06.599 --> 00:14:14.969
You<00:14:06.680> know,<00:14:07.501> if<00:14:07.582> they're,<00:14:08.148> you<00:14:08.180> know,<00:14:08.697> not<00:14:08.956> considered<00:14:09.505> a<00:14:09.586> Hamas,<00:14:10.879> actual<00:14:12.334> Hamas<00:14:12.916> fighter,<00:14:13.644> you're<00:14:13.741> going<00:14:13.886> to<00:14:13.918> have<00:14:13.967> to<00:14:14.048> separate<00:14:14.597> those<00:14:14.937> out.

00:14:17.296 --> 00:14:23.453
And<00:14:17.556> it's<00:14:17.946> going<00:14:18.124> to<00:14:18.270> get,<00:14:18.917> you<00:14:18.937> know,<00:14:19.099> more<00:14:19.505> casualties<00:14:20.155> are<00:14:20.236> going<00:14:20.480> to<00:14:20.561> occur<00:14:21.845> as<00:14:22.089> they<00:14:22.267> clear<00:14:22.738> house<00:14:22.998> to<00:14:23.145> house.

00:14:25.040 --> 00:14:31.082
I<00:14:25.137> think<00:14:25.299> the<00:14:25.477> second<00:14:26.044> thing<00:14:26.287> that<00:14:26.611> Israel<00:14:27.502> has<00:14:27.745> to<00:14:27.891> be<00:14:27.988> concerned<00:14:28.393> about<00:14:28.652> is<00:14:29.527> a<00:14:29.608> two-front<00:14:30.807> war.

00:14:31.872 --> 00:14:36.072
And<00:14:31.969> it<00:14:32.017> looks<00:14:32.276> like<00:14:32.599> that<00:14:33.083> Hezbollah<00:14:33.713> has<00:14:34.198> decided<00:14:34.683> that<00:14:34.780> they're<00:14:35.086> going<00:14:35.329> to<00:14:35.410> get<00:14:35.506> involved.

00:14:36.637 --> 00:14:41.160
There's<00:14:37.106> been<00:14:37.283> recent<00:14:37.606> reports<00:14:38.172> of<00:14:38.333> them<00:14:38.818> firing<00:14:39.125> rockets<00:14:39.545> from<00:14:40.207> southern<00:14:40.660> Lebanon.

00:14:41.602 --> 00:14:43.877
Into,<00:14:42.804> uh,<00:14:43.188> into<00:14:43.525> Israel.

00:14:44.710 --> 00:14:58.764
Um,<00:14:45.047> Hezbollah<00:14:45.608> is<00:14:46.729> much<00:14:47.034> more,<00:14:47.755> um,<00:14:49.534> much<00:14:49.774> more<00:14:49.934> capable<00:14:50.575> than<00:14:51.056> Hamas<00:14:51.697> is,<00:14:52.002> although,<00:14:53.043> uh,<00:14:53.283> Hamas<00:14:54.325> had,<00:14:54.966> you<00:14:54.998> know,<00:14:55.206> huge<00:14:55.447> successes<00:14:56.665> in<00:14:57.145> the<00:14:57.706> context<00:14:58.187> of<00:14:58.411> warfare.

00:14:59.533 --> 00:15:06.247
Um,<00:15:00.414> but<00:15:01.376> Hamas<00:15:01.873> is—<00:15:02.177> I'm<00:15:02.417> sorry,<00:15:02.754> Hezbollah<00:15:03.956> is<00:15:04.420> more<00:15:04.533> sophisticated<00:15:05.382> with<00:15:05.542> their<00:15:05.702> weaponry.

00:15:06.840 --> 00:15:17.690
And<00:15:07.000> so<00:15:07.867> at<00:15:07.948> some<00:15:08.272> point<00:15:08.515> in<00:15:08.693> time,<00:15:09.260> Israel's<00:15:09.779> probably<00:15:10.475> going<00:15:10.670> to<00:15:10.799> need<00:15:11.042> to<00:15:12.841> effectively<00:15:13.699> ask<00:15:14.023> for<00:15:14.121> some<00:15:14.299> additional<00:15:14.688> assistance<00:15:15.401> from<00:15:16.047> primarily<00:15:16.627> the<00:15:16.853> United<00:15:17.272> States.

00:15:18.383 --> 00:15:28.485
And,<00:15:19.285> you<00:15:19.366> know,<00:15:19.511> that<00:15:19.688> could<00:15:19.849> be<00:15:20.091> in<00:15:20.171> the<00:15:20.252> form<00:15:20.719> of,<00:15:20.896> you<00:15:21.283> know,<00:15:21.460> having<00:15:21.959> our<00:15:22.829> airplanes,<00:15:23.957> our<00:15:24.650> technology<00:15:25.729> used<00:15:26.116> in<00:15:26.229> supporting<00:15:26.857> them<00:15:27.582> in<00:15:27.743> different<00:15:28.130> ways.

00:15:29.838 --> 00:15:41.908
If<00:15:29.999> they<00:15:30.306> ask<00:15:30.708> and<00:15:30.870> if<00:15:31.047> the<00:15:31.369> United<00:15:31.756> States<00:15:32.417> participates,<00:15:35.232> I<00:15:35.313> think<00:15:36.590> that<00:15:37.010> creates<00:15:37.640> the<00:15:38.044> tinderbox<00:15:39.014> of<00:15:39.338> Iran<00:15:40.550> getting<00:15:40.809> involved<00:15:41.278> more<00:15:41.520> heavily.

00:15:43.703 --> 00:15:58.010
And<00:15:43.783> again,<00:15:44.734> that<00:15:45.072> could<00:15:45.555> create<00:15:46.023> a<00:15:46.184> three-front<00:15:46.828> war,<00:15:47.795> at<00:15:48.358> least<00:15:48.616> two<00:15:48.842> fronts<00:15:49.115> immediately,<00:15:49.969> Russia-Ukraine<00:15:51.274> fighting,<00:15:52.370> Iran<00:15:53.129> and<00:15:53.614> their<00:15:55.553> subsidiaries<00:15:56.685> fighting<00:15:57.073> against<00:15:57.412> Israel.

00:15:58.608 --> 00:16:00.289
United<00:15:58.963> States<00:15:59.271> supports<00:15:59.755> both<00:15:59.998> of<00:16:00.062> those.

00:16:00.782 --> 00:16:06.937
And<00:16:00.862> then<00:16:01.425> the<00:16:01.569> potential<00:16:02.051> for<00:16:02.212> President<00:16:02.630> Xi<00:16:02.967> in<00:16:03.112> China<00:16:03.996> to<00:16:04.076> do<00:16:04.173> something<00:16:04.703> with<00:16:04.864> the<00:16:04.960> Taiwan<00:16:05.443> situation<00:16:06.230> at<00:16:06.391> the<00:16:06.423> same<00:16:06.728> time.

00:16:07.773 --> 00:16:09.219
So<00:16:08.239> how<00:16:08.416> bad<00:16:08.721> could<00:16:08.882> it<00:16:08.978> get?

00:16:10.130 --> 00:16:11.278
Could<00:16:10.227> get<00:16:10.631> really,<00:16:10.890> really<00:16:11.132> bad.

00:16:12.006 --> 00:16:16.210
And<00:16:12.491> the<00:16:12.572> United<00:16:12.847> States<00:16:13.946> historically<00:16:14.529> has<00:16:14.755> never<00:16:15.095> fought<00:16:15.321> a<00:16:15.418> three-front<00:16:15.968> war.

00:16:20.086 --> 00:16:21.769
What<00:16:20.251> happens<00:16:20.598> if<00:16:20.763> Iran<00:16:21.093> gets<00:16:21.340> involved?

00:16:24.108 --> 00:16:25.803
So<00:16:24.191> I<00:16:24.291> think<00:16:24.457> the<00:16:24.557> decision<00:16:25.022> has<00:16:25.238> to<00:16:25.437> be<00:16:25.603> made.

00:16:25.869 --> 00:16:27.427
Do<00:16:26.035> we<00:16:26.185> confront<00:16:26.683> it<00:16:26.942> or<00:16:27.023> not.

00:16:28.800 --> 00:16:37.507
I<00:16:28.962> think,<00:16:29.511> you<00:16:29.543> know,<00:16:30.577> again,<00:16:31.547> slight<00:16:31.951> bias<00:16:32.420> here,<00:16:33.793> only<00:16:33.971> having<00:16:34.375> interaction<00:16:34.940> with<00:16:35.268> the<00:16:36.429> Revolutionary<00:16:37.175> Guard.

00:16:39.627 --> 00:16:49.427
I<00:16:41.008> think<00:16:41.251> if<00:16:42.177> Iran<00:16:42.713> gets<00:16:42.892> involved,<00:16:43.281> there's<00:16:43.460> going<00:16:43.655> to<00:16:43.769> be<00:16:43.947> a<00:16:44.029> huge<00:16:44.678> political<00:16:45.231> decision<00:16:45.718> that<00:16:45.880> has<00:16:46.368> to<00:16:46.465> be<00:16:46.562> made<00:16:46.790> by<00:16:46.952> the<00:16:47.763> Biden<00:16:48.103> administration<00:16:48.813> specifically.

00:16:50.186 --> 00:16:53.579
And<00:16:50.267> that<00:16:50.574> is,<00:16:51.479> do<00:16:51.786> you<00:16:52.771> take<00:16:53.013> them<00:16:53.240> on<00:16:53.498> now?

00:16:54.539 --> 00:16:55.538
Do<00:16:54.700> you<00:16:54.877> get<00:16:55.006> involved?

00:16:55.667 --> 00:17:07.440
Do<00:16:55.699> you<00:16:55.780> stop<00:16:56.812> this,<00:16:57.843> you<00:16:57.875> know,<00:16:59.955> terrorist<00:17:00.745> support<00:17:01.309> that<00:17:01.406> they've<00:17:01.567> been<00:17:01.728> doing<00:17:01.986> since<00:17:02.212> 1979,<00:17:03.890> um,<00:17:04.310> with<00:17:05.342> organizations<00:17:06.827> across<00:17:07.133> the<00:17:07.279> globe?

00:17:07.537 --> 00:17:08.892
Do<00:17:07.763> you,<00:17:08.182> do<00:17:08.231> you<00:17:08.505> get<00:17:08.683> involved?

00:17:08.989 --> 00:17:23.512
Do<00:17:09.134> you<00:17:09.167> stop<00:17:09.651> it<00:17:10.103> and,<00:17:10.684> and<00:17:10.829> become,<00:17:11.555> you<00:17:11.620> know,<00:17:12.057> in,<00:17:12.478> in<00:17:12.850> a<00:17:12.947> wartime<00:17:13.352> situation<00:17:14.080> committing,<00:17:15.198> uh,<00:17:15.619> more<00:17:16.590> capability,<00:17:17.480> both<00:17:18.209> human<00:17:18.614> treasure<00:17:19.099> as<00:17:19.326> well<00:17:19.585> as<00:17:20.287> resources<00:17:21.664> and<00:17:22.086> fight<00:17:22.329> side<00:17:22.572> by<00:17:22.653> side<00:17:23.058> to<00:17:23.139> Israel.

00:17:24.111 --> 00:17:29.452
And<00:17:24.517> does<00:17:24.679> that<00:17:25.068> get<00:17:25.311> the<00:17:25.489> Arab<00:17:25.813> community<00:17:27.029> galvanized<00:17:27.742> against<00:17:28.227> Israelis<00:17:28.807> in<00:17:28.888> the<00:17:29.049> U.S.?

00:17:30.499 --> 00:17:34.658
There's<00:17:31.289> all<00:17:31.386> kinds<00:17:31.708> of<00:17:31.853> things<00:17:32.111> that,<00:17:32.433> that<00:17:32.675> would<00:17:32.820> have<00:17:33.014> to<00:17:33.143> be<00:17:33.304> thought<00:17:33.497> about<00:17:33.804> before<00:17:34.142> you<00:17:34.287> do<00:17:34.448> that.

00:17:35.210 --> 00:17:42.903
However,<00:17:36.278> if<00:17:37.104> Iran<00:17:37.493> does<00:17:37.752> get<00:17:37.817> involved,<00:17:38.335> I<00:17:38.481> think<00:17:38.724> somebody<00:17:39.194> is<00:17:39.356> going<00:17:39.453> to<00:17:39.501> have<00:17:39.842> to<00:17:40.489> step<00:17:40.846> in<00:17:41.315> and<00:17:41.477> prevent<00:17:42.028> that<00:17:42.287> from<00:17:42.465> spreading.

00:17:44.804 --> 00:17:57.011
In<00:17:44.954> your<00:17:45.121> opinion,<00:17:47.120> Does<00:17:47.361> the<00:17:47.521> United<00:17:47.874> States<00:17:48.260> have<00:17:48.661> the<00:17:48.886> resources,<00:17:50.010> capacity,<00:17:51.696> and<00:17:51.808> even<00:17:52.097> political<00:17:52.740> will<00:17:54.281> to<00:17:55.325> be<00:17:55.485> engaged<00:17:56.047> in<00:17:56.192> two<00:17:56.368> conflicts?

00:17:58.375 --> 00:18:03.385
Forget<00:17:58.632> the<00:17:58.777> third,<00:17:59.275> right,<00:17:59.499> with<00:17:59.740> like<00:17:59.965> what<00:18:00.061> you're<00:18:00.174> saying<00:18:00.367> around<00:18:00.688> like<00:18:01.330> the<00:18:01.426> China<00:18:01.747> thing<00:18:01.988> and<00:18:02.069> the<00:18:02.213> Taiwan<00:18:02.614> being<00:18:02.807> a<00:18:02.871> possibility.

00:18:03.433 --> 00:18:04.124
That's<00:18:03.738> crazy.

00:18:04.878 --> 00:18:10.145
But<00:18:05.119> can<00:18:05.360> we<00:18:05.842> even<00:18:06.324> do<00:18:06.709> Ukraine<00:18:07.126> and<00:18:07.271> Russia<00:18:07.993> and<00:18:08.555> Israel-Palestine<00:18:09.374> at<00:18:09.438> the<00:18:09.519> same<00:18:09.776> time?

00:18:11.430 --> 00:18:19.164
So,<00:18:12.408> well,<00:18:13.933> could<00:18:14.093> we<00:18:14.254> do<00:18:14.430> World<00:18:14.735> War<00:18:14.831> II<00:18:15.698> with,<00:18:16.099> uh,<00:18:16.340> German<00:18:16.757> and,<00:18:17.078> and<00:18:17.238> Japan<00:18:17.640> at<00:18:17.784> the<00:18:17.816> same<00:18:18.121> time,<00:18:18.907> right?

00:18:19.710 --> 00:18:24.700
Uh,<00:18:20.031> the<00:18:20.127> answer<00:18:20.592> was<00:18:20.929> no<00:18:21.154> at<00:18:21.314> the<00:18:21.395> beginning,<00:18:22.357> and,<00:18:22.855> and<00:18:23.641> did<00:18:23.882> we<00:18:23.978> have<00:18:24.139> the<00:18:24.283> resolve?

00:18:25.246 --> 00:18:27.107
However,<00:18:26.048> these<00:18:26.209> are<00:18:26.305> different<00:18:26.626> times.

00:18:27.813 --> 00:18:32.290
Will,<00:18:28.215> will<00:18:28.407> the<00:18:28.552> population<00:18:29.755> support<00:18:30.397> a<00:18:30.557> two-front<00:18:31.183> war<00:18:31.344> if<00:18:31.504> we<00:18:31.584> had<00:18:31.761> to<00:18:31.841> get<00:18:32.002> into<00:18:32.242> it?

00:18:32.724 --> 00:18:39.800
And<00:18:32.884> let's<00:18:33.125> not<00:18:33.366> forget,<00:18:33.751> we<00:18:33.831> haven't<00:18:34.152> committed<00:18:34.553> any<00:18:34.794> troops<00:18:35.131> to<00:18:35.291> the<00:18:35.436> Ukraine-Russia,<00:18:36.735> uh,<00:18:37.072> situation<00:18:37.762> at<00:18:37.859> this<00:18:38.099> point,<00:18:38.340> just<00:18:39.207> resources.

00:18:40.346 --> 00:19:14.346
Now,<00:18:40.522> if<00:18:40.650> we<00:18:40.747> have<00:18:40.987> to<00:18:41.164> supply<00:18:41.870> a<00:18:41.950> larger<00:18:42.913> and<00:18:43.057> potential,<00:18:44.340> you<00:18:44.372> know,<00:18:45.223> switch<00:18:46.185> of<00:18:47.228> support<00:18:47.870> to<00:18:48.046> provide<00:18:48.512> resources,<00:18:49.234> specifically<00:18:50.774> equipment,<00:18:51.415> munitions,<00:18:51.977> etc.,<00:18:52.619> to<00:18:53.485> Israel<00:18:54.448> and<00:18:54.544> to<00:18:55.009> other<00:18:56.549> like-minded<00:18:57.255> countries<00:18:57.913> against<00:18:58.458> Iran,<00:18:58.875> which<00:19:00.303> theoretically<00:19:00.945> could<00:19:01.202> be,<00:19:02.068> you<00:19:02.100> know,<00:19:02.325> places<00:19:02.950> like,<00:19:03.833> I<00:19:03.881> don't<00:19:04.009> know,<00:19:04.170> Qatar,<00:19:06.273> Saudi<00:19:06.532> Arabia,<00:19:06.985> et<00:19:07.017> cetera,<00:19:07.341> and<00:19:07.486> we<00:19:07.583> have<00:19:07.745> to<00:19:07.907> get<00:19:08.069> in<00:19:08.230> that<00:19:08.538> kind<00:19:09.347> of<00:19:09.606> war,<00:19:10.576> do<00:19:10.803> we<00:19:10.965> have<00:19:11.223> the<00:19:11.385> capabilities<00:19:12.210> to<00:19:12.421> support<00:19:13.650> both<00:19:14.055> fronts?

00:19:16.534 --> 00:19:25.517
We<00:19:16.696> would<00:19:16.857> have<00:19:17.018> to<00:19:17.179> spin<00:19:17.582> up<00:19:17.759> a<00:19:18.693> huge<00:19:19.354> industrial<00:19:20.079> complex<00:19:21.029> that<00:19:21.916> doesn't<00:19:22.399> exist<00:19:22.898> as<00:19:23.076> it<00:19:23.301> did<00:19:24.509> during<00:19:24.897> World<00:19:25.142> War<00:19:25.224> II.

00:19:26.382 --> 00:19:34.251
And<00:19:26.463> so<00:19:26.708> therefore,<00:19:27.996> do<00:19:28.176> we<00:19:28.404> have<00:19:28.747> the<00:19:30.998> intestinal<00:19:31.687> fortitude<00:19:33.386> to<00:19:33.546> make<00:19:33.771> that<00:19:33.931> happen.

00:19:34.492 --> 00:19:37.664
I<00:19:34.508> don't<00:19:34.652> have<00:19:34.828> that<00:19:35.052> answer,<00:19:35.549> and<00:19:35.693> I'm<00:19:36.014> not<00:19:36.174> sure<00:19:36.334> I<00:19:36.495> want<00:19:36.639> to<00:19:36.671> speculate<00:19:37.392> on<00:19:37.552> that.

00:19:38.914 --> 00:19:52.999
I<00:19:39.219> think<00:19:39.699> if<00:19:40.500> Americans<00:19:42.199> get<00:19:42.455> attacked<00:19:42.936> directly<00:19:43.545> in<00:19:43.641> some<00:19:44.026> way,<00:19:44.202> shape,<00:19:44.522> or<00:19:44.747> form,<00:19:45.708> and<00:19:46.029> the<00:19:46.125> American<00:19:46.590> resolve<00:19:47.246> changes<00:19:47.887> to<00:19:48.048> support<00:19:49.394> us<00:19:49.570> defending<00:19:50.067> ourselves,<00:19:50.772> I<00:19:50.916> think<00:19:51.092> that<00:19:51.252> changes<00:19:51.877> the<00:19:52.054> entire<00:19:52.390> scenario.

00:19:53.576 --> 00:20:05.545
Right<00:19:53.896> now,<00:19:55.018> I<00:19:55.403> think<00:19:55.739> there<00:19:55.899> probably<00:19:56.604> is<00:19:56.781> a<00:19:56.861> 50-50<00:19:57.566> 50<00:19:57.903> split<00:19:58.240> in<00:19:58.385> the<00:19:58.529> United<00:19:58.883> States<00:19:59.814> about<00:20:00.312> doing<00:20:00.793> anything<00:20:01.259> that<00:20:01.419> would<00:20:01.596> get<00:20:01.997> our<00:20:02.463> troops<00:20:03.185> or<00:20:03.282> our<00:20:03.523> forces<00:20:04.550> heavily<00:20:04.951> involved.

00:20:06.156 --> 00:20:07.906
Um,<00:20:07.039> but<00:20:07.440> who<00:20:07.536> knows?

00:20:08.740 --> 00:20:13.990
So<00:20:08.901> the<00:20:09.142> answer<00:20:09.318> to<00:20:09.367> your<00:20:09.543> question<00:20:09.928> is,<00:20:10.523> I<00:20:10.539> don't<00:20:10.747> know<00:20:10.924> if<00:20:11.068> we<00:20:11.149> have<00:20:11.309> the<00:20:11.454> capability<00:20:11.984> to<00:20:12.128> do<00:20:12.899> both<00:20:13.396> at<00:20:13.477> the<00:20:13.557> same<00:20:13.862> time.

00:20:15.146 --> 00:20:27.699
Uh,<00:20:15.403> I<00:20:15.484> would<00:20:15.708> hope<00:20:15.949> that<00:20:16.126> if<00:20:16.286> we<00:20:16.527> make<00:20:16.752> that<00:20:16.993> decision,<00:20:17.506> it's<00:20:17.715> all<00:20:17.972> for<00:20:18.117> all<00:20:18.277> the<00:20:18.373> right<00:20:18.678> reasons<00:20:19.658> and<00:20:20.364> that<00:20:20.605> we<00:20:20.782> have<00:20:21.023> 100%<00:20:21.440> support,<00:20:22.227> because<00:20:22.548> once<00:20:22.773> we're<00:20:22.869> committed<00:20:23.334> and<00:20:23.833> do<00:20:23.994> a<00:20:24.074> two-front<00:20:24.703> war,<00:20:25.524> you,<00:20:25.927> you,<00:20:26.330> you're<00:20:26.491> going<00:20:26.604> to<00:20:26.716> have<00:20:26.958> to<00:20:27.055> carry<00:20:27.296> it<00:20:27.457> through.

00:20:29.133 --> 00:20:36.678
If<00:20:29.213> you're<00:20:29.374> Vladimir<00:20:29.793> Putin<00:20:30.276> and<00:20:30.357> you<00:20:30.454> see<00:20:30.679> what's<00:20:30.840> happening<00:20:31.307> in<00:20:31.404> the<00:20:31.485> Gaza<00:20:31.807> Strip,<00:20:33.020> are<00:20:33.201> you<00:20:34.041> thinking,<00:20:34.437> hey,<00:20:34.618> this<00:20:34.849> is<00:20:34.947> good<00:20:35.112> for<00:20:35.277> Russia<00:20:35.524> or<00:20:35.705> this<00:20:35.920> is<00:20:36.019> bad<00:20:36.249> for<00:20:36.414> Russia?

00:20:39.394 --> 00:20:45.001
So<00:20:39.812> I'm<00:20:40.117> not<00:20:40.278> going<00:20:40.615> to<00:20:40.840> propose<00:20:41.258> to<00:20:41.402> try<00:20:41.563> to<00:20:41.723> get<00:20:41.948> into<00:20:42.832> Vladimir<00:20:43.555> Putin's<00:20:44.214> mindset.

00:20:45.258 --> 00:20:48.535
I've<00:20:46.527> had<00:20:46.688> to<00:20:46.848> deal<00:20:47.025> with<00:20:47.250> his<00:20:47.668> cronies<00:20:48.230> before.

00:20:49.282 --> 00:20:52.068
Personally<00:20:49.765> as<00:20:49.991> well,<00:20:50.571> at<00:20:50.635> least<00:20:50.877> on<00:20:50.957> the<00:20:51.070> intelligence<00:20:51.682> side.

00:20:53.776 --> 00:21:25.175
You<00:20:54.339> know,<00:20:54.839> I<00:20:54.919> think<00:20:55.547> if<00:20:57.721> the<00:20:57.754> substance<00:20:58.690> of<00:20:58.949> the<00:20:59.354> talks<00:20:59.840> that<00:21:00.148> Putin<00:21:01.607> had<00:21:01.947> with<00:21:02.433> Xi<00:21:03.081> and<00:21:03.162> that<00:21:03.389> Putin's<00:21:03.794> had<00:21:04.053> with<00:21:04.361> the<00:21:04.604> Ayatollah,<00:21:06.350> I<00:21:06.463> think<00:21:06.931> if<00:21:07.917> those<00:21:08.386> conversations<00:21:10.245> were<00:21:10.342> strategic<00:21:11.086> enough<00:21:11.716> where<00:21:12.912> that<00:21:13.575> he<00:21:13.801> was<00:21:14.060> involved<00:21:15.110> or<00:21:15.191> at<00:21:15.337> least<00:21:15.757> knew<00:21:16.717> what<00:21:17.455> Hamas<00:21:17.856> was<00:21:18.097> going<00:21:18.322> to<00:21:18.498> do<00:21:18.723> at<00:21:18.819> a<00:21:18.899> very,<00:21:19.381> very<00:21:19.782> low<00:21:20.103> level,<00:21:21.708> and<00:21:21.788> that<00:21:21.949> this<00:21:22.174> is<00:21:22.414> part<00:21:22.671> of<00:21:22.832> a<00:21:23.072> much<00:21:23.955> bigger<00:21:24.260> strategic<00:21:24.822> plan.

00:21:25.801 --> 00:21:34.532
I<00:21:25.961> think<00:21:26.186> he<00:21:26.347> moves<00:21:26.908> forces<00:21:27.486> into<00:21:27.727> Ukraine<00:21:28.915> probably<00:21:30.118> right<00:21:30.375> now<00:21:30.696> before<00:21:31.081> the<00:21:31.178> winter<00:21:31.499> gets<00:21:31.739> too<00:21:31.964> heavy<00:21:32.301> in<00:21:32.381> Ukraine,<00:21:33.264> and<00:21:33.344> I<00:21:33.489> think<00:21:33.714> he<00:21:33.810> tries<00:21:34.002> to<00:21:34.227> take<00:21:34.404> it.

00:21:35.415 --> 00:21:41.546
And<00:21:35.527> it's<00:21:35.768> at<00:21:35.977> that<00:21:36.217> point<00:21:36.635> NATO<00:21:36.956> has<00:21:37.261> to<00:21:37.341> get<00:21:37.437> involved<00:21:37.999> and<00:21:38.143> make<00:21:38.320> a<00:21:38.384> decision<00:21:38.898> on<00:21:38.946> whether<00:21:39.154> they're<00:21:39.283> going<00:21:39.395> to,<00:21:40.085> you<00:21:40.166> know,<00:21:40.390> fully<00:21:40.647> support<00:21:41.193> Ukraine.

00:21:41.594 --> 00:21:42.905
I<00:21:41.755> would<00:21:42.073> I<00:21:42.093> don't<00:21:42.246> think<00:21:42.432> that<00:21:42.499> they<00:21:42.685> would.

00:21:44.072 --> 00:21:49.989
And<00:21:44.394> then<00:21:44.620> I<00:21:44.717> think<00:21:45.523> Putin<00:21:45.845> ties<00:21:46.232> up<00:21:46.345> a<00:21:46.571> bunch<00:21:46.829> of<00:21:47.038> our<00:21:47.296> forces<00:21:48.893> by<00:21:49.473> doing<00:21:49.796> that.

00:21:51.260 --> 00:21:55.901
And<00:21:51.615> then<00:21:51.680> depending<00:21:52.165> on<00:21:52.747> what<00:21:53.054> Iran<00:21:53.475> does,<00:21:53.960> it<00:21:54.122> could<00:21:54.283> become<00:21:54.930> really,<00:21:55.318> really<00:21:55.577> bloody.

00:21:56.450 --> 00:22:01.557
And<00:21:56.968> at<00:21:57.097> some<00:21:57.340> point<00:21:57.501> in<00:21:57.599> time,<00:21:57.922> you've<00:21:59.054> gotta<00:21:59.296> make<00:21:59.539> that<00:22:00.186> other<00:22:00.428> decision<00:22:00.752> we<00:22:00.897> just<00:22:01.074> talked<00:22:01.315> about.

00:22:02.040 --> 00:22:04.101
Do<00:22:02.265> you<00:22:02.362> get<00:22:02.571> involved<00:22:03.264> directly<00:22:03.731> with<00:22:03.795> Iran?

00:22:05.583 --> 00:22:06.839
That<00:22:05.680> sounds<00:22:06.050> like<00:22:06.291> World<00:22:06.533> War<00:22:06.630> III.

00:22:09.532 --> 00:22:14.044
Yeah,<00:22:09.612> unfortunately,<00:22:10.512> I<00:22:10.736> think<00:22:11.218> that<00:22:11.860> this<00:22:12.101> is<00:22:12.342> a<00:22:12.518> huge<00:22:13.000> tinderbox<00:22:13.706> right<00:22:13.947> now.

00:22:14.991 --> 00:22:29.007
And,<00:22:15.392> and,<00:22:15.794> and<00:22:16.051> for<00:22:16.372> anybody<00:22:16.853> that's<00:22:17.158> been<00:22:17.576> in—<00:22:17.977> involved<00:22:18.603> in<00:22:18.764> warfare,<00:22:19.486> myself<00:22:19.920> included,<00:22:21.172> um,<00:22:21.429> combat,<00:22:22.216> or<00:22:22.778> has<00:22:22.874> seen,<00:22:24.062> you<00:22:24.094> know,<00:22:24.399> death<00:22:24.784> in<00:22:24.881> it,<00:22:25.282> in<00:22:25.362> its<00:22:26.149> warfare<00:22:26.872> form,<00:22:27.755> nobody<00:22:28.172> wants<00:22:28.365> to<00:22:28.509> see<00:22:28.814> that.

00:22:29.842 --> 00:22:40.085
Um,<00:22:30.259> that<00:22:30.725> is,<00:22:31.367> you<00:22:31.447> know,<00:22:31.945> could<00:22:32.266> turn<00:22:32.571> into<00:22:33.390> even<00:22:34.113> you<00:22:34.194> know,<00:22:35.143> a<00:22:35.240> higher<00:22:35.803> form<00:22:36.045> of<00:22:36.270> warfare<00:22:36.850> where<00:22:37.091> we<00:22:37.880> involve<00:22:38.298> now<00:22:39.183> nuclear<00:22:39.650> weapons.

00:22:40.840 --> 00:22:50.311
And<00:22:41.033> let's<00:22:41.274> not<00:22:41.516> forget,<00:22:42.225> you<00:22:42.257> know,<00:22:43.207> anybody<00:22:43.674> can<00:22:43.852> check<00:22:44.158> the,<00:22:44.721> you<00:22:44.754> know,<00:22:45.043> the<00:22:45.398> internet<00:22:46.171> or<00:22:47.154> scholarly<00:22:47.717> documents<00:22:48.362> and<00:22:48.507> find<00:22:48.909> out<00:22:49.070> who's<00:22:49.328> got<00:22:49.570> nuclear<00:22:49.892> weapons.

00:22:50.392 --> 00:22:52.811
It's<00:22:50.860> a<00:22:50.940> pretty<00:22:51.327> long<00:22:51.585> list<00:22:52.069> in<00:22:52.150> that<00:22:52.456> region.

00:22:53.521 --> 00:22:56.908
And<00:22:53.682> so,<00:22:54.392> you<00:22:54.634> know,<00:22:55.360> that<00:22:55.537> could<00:22:55.860> escalate<00:22:56.424> as<00:22:56.650> well.

00:22:58.444 --> 00:23:03.328
And<00:22:58.545> yeah,<00:22:59.032> you<00:22:59.133> could<00:22:59.301> be<00:22:59.469> talking<00:22:59.973> about<00:23:01.103> World<00:23:01.347> War<00:23:01.672> III.

00:23:03.783 --> 00:23:06.853
And<00:23:04.352> I<00:23:04.449> can't<00:23:04.758> believe<00:23:05.083> anybody<00:23:05.570> really<00:23:05.830> wants<00:23:06.009> to<00:23:06.220> see<00:23:06.399> that<00:23:06.707> happen.

00:23:08.616 --> 00:23:12.317
As<00:23:08.730> I<00:23:08.778> understand<00:23:09.263> it,<00:23:09.521> China<00:23:10.152> and<00:23:10.313> Russia<00:23:10.733> are<00:23:10.830> not<00:23:11.299> natural<00:23:11.848> allies.

00:23:13.660 --> 00:23:15.544
China<00:23:13.853> and<00:23:13.998> Russia<00:23:14.272> generally<00:23:14.884> hate<00:23:15.077> each<00:23:15.303> other.

00:23:16.495 --> 00:23:17.139
Yeah.

00:23:17.944 --> 00:23:21.746
But<00:23:18.121> because<00:23:18.444> of<00:23:18.524> the<00:23:18.669> Ukraine<00:23:19.072> war,<00:23:19.233> it<00:23:19.313> seems<00:23:19.555> like<00:23:20.216> they've<00:23:20.377> become<00:23:20.763> a<00:23:20.779> little<00:23:21.005> bit<00:23:21.182> closer.

00:23:21.826 --> 00:23:26.018
And<00:23:21.987> because<00:23:22.455> maybe<00:23:22.632> their<00:23:22.860> interests<00:23:23.267> align<00:23:23.772> currently,<00:23:24.830> they've<00:23:24.993> become<00:23:25.302> a<00:23:25.400> little<00:23:25.562> bit<00:23:25.709> closer.

00:23:26.496 --> 00:23:44.200
How<00:23:26.608> bad<00:23:26.817> would<00:23:26.930> it<00:23:27.059> be<00:23:27.235> if<00:23:27.959> Xi<00:23:28.361> and<00:23:28.505> Putin<00:23:28.843> just<00:23:29.164> partnered<00:23:29.566> up<00:23:29.727> together<00:23:31.077> and<00:23:32.042> did<00:23:32.299> do<00:23:32.524> this<00:23:33.167> larger<00:23:33.505> strategic<00:23:34.051> thing<00:23:34.212> that<00:23:34.293> you're<00:23:34.453> talking<00:23:34.711> about<00:23:34.920> where<00:23:35.595> they<00:23:35.836> have<00:23:36.062> some<00:23:36.303> sort<00:23:36.496> of<00:23:36.576> sense<00:23:36.801> of<00:23:36.882> what's<00:23:37.091> going<00:23:37.155> to<00:23:37.187> happen<00:23:37.429> in<00:23:37.493> Hamas,<00:23:38.474> go<00:23:38.635> take<00:23:38.876> Ukraine,<00:23:39.777> and<00:23:39.841> then<00:23:40.002> Xi<00:23:40.179> goes<00:23:40.485> into<00:23:42.190> Taiwan<00:23:43.380> all<00:23:43.444> at<00:23:43.557> the<00:23:43.637> same<00:23:43.879> time?

00:23:45.774 --> 00:23:49.143
That's<00:23:46.657> a<00:23:46.674> lot<00:23:46.919> for<00:23:47.066> the<00:23:47.148> United<00:23:47.410> States<00:23:47.818> to<00:23:47.966> deal<00:23:48.129> with<00:23:48.636> and<00:23:48.783> the<00:23:48.865> world.

00:23:50.720 --> 00:23:50.908
Yes.

00:23:52.917 --> 00:23:53.645
That<00:23:53.160> is<00:23:53.322> a<00:23:53.338> lot.

00:23:53.823 --> 00:24:09.013
But<00:23:54.712> if,<00:23:55.117> if<00:23:56.071> our<00:23:57.947> military<00:24:00.210> personnel,<00:24:01.278> our<00:24:01.650> generals,<00:24:02.200> our<00:24:02.297> planners,<00:24:02.946> our<00:24:03.108> people<00:24:03.432> that<00:24:03.611> are<00:24:04.260> thinking<00:24:04.665> through<00:24:05.217> all<00:24:05.314> the<00:24:05.460> possibilities,<00:24:06.531> if<00:24:06.677> that's<00:24:07.018> not<00:24:07.261> one<00:24:07.423> of<00:24:07.504> the<00:24:07.601> scenarios,<00:24:08.461> then<00:24:08.623> they're<00:24:08.802> failing.

00:24:10.312 --> 00:24:15.353
Um,<00:24:11.504> and<00:24:11.665> I,<00:24:11.826> and<00:24:11.987> I<00:24:12.084> think<00:24:12.470> that<00:24:12.647> has<00:24:12.953> to<00:24:13.114> be,<00:24:14.319> you<00:24:14.339> know,<00:24:14.564> put<00:24:14.741> in<00:24:14.886> the<00:24:14.983> overall<00:24:15.224> thing.

00:24:15.547 --> 00:24:17.383
And<00:24:16.110> I<00:24:16.175> would<00:24:16.336> add<00:24:16.594> one<00:24:16.819> more<00:24:16.996> player.

00:24:17.463 --> 00:24:19.235
Let's<00:24:17.640> not<00:24:17.882> forget<00:24:18.269> who<00:24:18.349> we've<00:24:18.526> been<00:24:18.607> talking<00:24:19.010> about.

00:24:20.250 --> 00:25:01.791
If<00:24:20.396> Iran<00:24:20.881> is<00:24:21.463> providing<00:24:21.948> weapons<00:24:22.352> to<00:24:22.757> Putin,<00:24:23.242> which<00:24:23.484> they<00:24:23.711> are,<00:24:25.570> if<00:24:25.683> China<00:24:26.168> is<00:24:26.330> providing<00:24:27.138> munitions<00:24:27.850> to<00:24:28.190> Putin,<00:24:28.740> which<00:24:28.982> they<00:24:29.225> are,<00:24:30.050> if<00:24:30.276> Putin's<00:24:31.505> providing<00:24:33.592> other<00:24:33.931> logistical<00:24:34.498> support<00:24:34.870> and<00:24:34.966> agreements<00:24:36.755> and<00:24:36.819> the<00:24:36.916> ability<00:24:37.399> for<00:24:37.786> Iran<00:24:38.205> to<00:24:38.447> wash<00:24:38.769> its<00:24:39.011> cash<00:24:41.106> and<00:24:41.267> to<00:24:41.992> continue<00:24:42.459> to<00:24:42.540> have<00:24:42.717> the<00:24:42.862> money<00:24:42.991> to<00:24:43.120> support<00:24:43.603> the<00:24:43.748> terrorism<00:24:44.312> effort,<00:24:46.762> if<00:24:46.970> we<00:24:47.387> take<00:24:48.013> President<00:24:48.350> Xi<00:24:48.590> at<00:24:48.654> his<00:24:49.072> word<00:24:50.034> and<00:24:50.194> he's<00:24:50.435> going<00:24:50.676> to<00:24:50.820> do<00:24:50.916> something<00:24:51.237> about<00:24:51.477> Taiwan<00:24:51.959> before<00:24:52.344> his<00:24:53.081> granddaughter<00:24:53.643> becomes<00:24:54.044> of<00:24:54.188> age,<00:24:55.086> then<00:24:55.471> all<00:24:55.648> of<00:24:55.728> those<00:24:56.129> things<00:24:57.396> are<00:24:57.797> on<00:24:57.958> the<00:24:58.054> table<00:24:58.615> and<00:24:59.241> they<00:24:59.562> all<00:24:59.818> are<00:24:59.898> possibilities.

00:25:02.128 --> 00:25:21.850
And<00:25:02.224> I<00:25:02.449> think<00:25:03.026> that<00:25:03.828> the<00:25:03.989> fact<00:25:04.309> that<00:25:05.753> the<00:25:05.897> Ayatollah,<00:25:07.517> President<00:25:07.918> Xi,<00:25:08.544> and<00:25:09.105> Putin<00:25:09.506> are<00:25:09.667> all<00:25:09.843> talking<00:25:10.340> in<00:25:10.485> one<00:25:10.709> way,<00:25:10.805> shape,<00:25:11.126> or<00:25:11.206> form,<00:25:11.447> maybe<00:25:11.704> not<00:25:12.233> all<00:25:12.329> together,<00:25:13.276> Although<00:25:13.858> there<00:25:14.166> are<00:25:14.829> press<00:25:15.169> reports<00:25:15.719> that<00:25:15.946> their<00:25:16.205> military<00:25:16.852> leaders<00:25:17.257> are<00:25:17.419> all<00:25:17.581> talking<00:25:17.937> together,<00:25:18.309> but<00:25:18.471> the<00:25:19.345> actual<00:25:19.830> leaders<00:25:20.170> are<00:25:20.429> not.

00:25:22.027 --> 00:25:23.658
That<00:25:22.576> should<00:25:22.932> scare<00:25:23.319> people.

00:25:25.903 --> 00:25:29.568
How<00:25:26.064> important<00:25:26.468> is<00:25:26.694> leadership<00:25:27.211> in<00:25:27.340> a<00:25:27.356> time<00:25:27.679> like<00:25:27.986> this,<00:25:28.470> and<00:25:28.729> do<00:25:29.035> we<00:25:29.278> have<00:25:29.471> it?

00:25:31.377 --> 00:25:31.653
Yeah.

00:25:32.431 --> 00:25:34.168
So<00:25:32.837> you're<00:25:32.934> going<00:25:33.032> to<00:25:33.097> try<00:25:33.259> to<00:25:33.340> put<00:25:33.583> me<00:25:33.665> in<00:25:33.762> a<00:25:33.892> box.

00:25:34.232 --> 00:25:35.222
I'm<00:25:34.427> not<00:25:34.557> going<00:25:34.670> to<00:25:34.800> go<00:25:34.979> there.

00:25:35.352 --> 00:25:42.299
I<00:25:35.449> don't<00:25:35.676> want<00:25:35.839> you<00:25:35.871> to<00:25:35.936> make<00:25:36.179> a<00:25:36.260> political<00:25:36.699> statement,<00:25:37.704> but<00:25:37.948> like—<00:25:38.902> Yeah,<00:25:39.062> I<00:25:39.078> don't<00:25:39.270> want<00:25:39.447> you<00:25:39.543> to<00:25:39.623> bash<00:25:39.943> any<00:25:40.504> party<00:25:41.065> or<00:25:41.210> president<00:25:41.530> or<00:25:41.706> anything<00:25:41.947> like<00:25:42.107> that.

00:25:42.428 --> 00:25:44.912
I'm<00:25:42.588> just<00:25:42.748> wondering,<00:25:42.989> like,<00:25:43.245> do<00:25:43.533> I<00:25:43.630> think—<00:25:44.030> how<00:25:44.191> important<00:25:44.495> is<00:25:44.655> leadership?

00:25:45.056 --> 00:25:46.034
Maybe<00:25:45.216> just<00:25:45.393> answer<00:25:45.569> the<00:25:45.633> first<00:25:45.857> question.

00:25:46.098 --> 00:25:47.171
How<00:25:46.210> important<00:25:46.595> is<00:25:46.659> leadership<00:25:47.059> here?

00:25:48.117 --> 00:25:49.479
So<00:25:48.518> leadership<00:25:48.999> is<00:25:49.079> huge.

00:25:49.944 --> 00:25:57.845
Leadership<00:25:50.826> all<00:25:51.387> the<00:25:51.483> way<00:25:52.108> up<00:25:52.268> and<00:25:52.428> down<00:25:53.630> both<00:25:53.871> the<00:25:53.967> political<00:25:54.544> spectrum<00:25:55.153> as<00:25:55.329> well<00:25:55.489> as<00:25:55.714> the<00:25:55.810> military<00:25:56.996> spectrum,<00:25:57.637> right?

00:25:58.518 --> 00:26:23.653
Um,<00:25:58.839> I<00:25:59.095> think,<00:26:00.538> I,<00:26:00.778> I<00:26:00.938> think,<00:26:01.483> you<00:26:01.563> know,<00:26:01.660> the,<00:26:02.044> the<00:26:02.221> leadership<00:26:03.262> now<00:26:03.647> is<00:26:03.823> not<00:26:04.224> just<00:26:04.544> the<00:26:04.689> general<00:26:05.170> officers,<00:26:05.827> and<00:26:05.971> they<00:26:06.131> are<00:26:06.307> important,<00:26:06.932> everybody<00:26:07.365> knows<00:26:07.670> they're<00:26:07.814> important,<00:26:08.391> but<00:26:09.177> You<00:26:09.225> know,<00:26:09.353> it's<00:26:09.578> the<00:26:09.658> supporting<00:26:10.397> teams<00:26:10.862> underneath<00:26:11.424> those<00:26:11.745> general<00:26:12.082> officers,<00:26:13.189> the<00:26:13.269> people<00:26:13.526> that<00:26:13.590> are<00:26:13.911> actually<00:26:14.650> doing<00:26:15.677> the<00:26:15.949> strategic<00:26:16.640> planning,<00:26:17.378> executing<00:26:18.164> that,<00:26:18.501> make<00:26:18.967> all<00:26:19.207> the<00:26:19.448> wheels<00:26:19.849> turn<00:26:20.122> at<00:26:20.251> the<00:26:20.347> right<00:26:20.588> time,<00:26:21.406> at<00:26:21.486> the<00:26:21.615> right<00:26:21.856> place,<00:26:22.273> in<00:26:22.353> the<00:26:22.498> right<00:26:22.690> synchronization.

00:26:24.263 --> 00:26:28.371
All<00:26:24.439> of<00:26:24.520> those<00:26:24.921> things,<00:26:25.788> all<00:26:25.948> of<00:26:26.044> those<00:26:26.446> leaders<00:26:26.927> have<00:26:27.890> to<00:26:28.050> lead.

00:26:29.094 --> 00:26:34.759
They<00:26:29.254> can't<00:26:29.655> be,<00:26:30.217> they<00:26:30.378> can't<00:26:30.763> be<00:26:30.939> sitting<00:26:31.325> on<00:26:31.421> the<00:26:31.501> sidelines<00:26:32.464> or,<00:26:33.266> uh,<00:26:33.571> partially<00:26:34.213> producing.

00:26:35.421 --> 00:26:37.183
Same<00:26:35.679> thing<00:26:35.906> on<00:26:36.003> the<00:26:36.084> political<00:26:36.649> side.

00:26:37.846 --> 00:26:41.742
And,<00:26:38.250> you<00:26:38.282> know,<00:26:38.735> clearly<00:26:39.317> the<00:26:39.479> US<00:26:39.964> is<00:26:40.190> in<00:26:40.756> somewhat<00:26:41.111> of<00:26:41.192> a<00:26:41.257> disarray.

00:26:41.807 --> 00:26:42.599
We<00:26:41.887> have<00:26:42.065> no<00:26:42.227> speaker.

00:26:44.240 --> 00:26:48.869
The<00:26:44.336> president,<00:26:45.482> at<00:26:45.643> least<00:26:46.433> visibly,<00:26:47.901> is<00:26:48.063> challenged<00:26:48.530> right<00:26:48.789> now.

00:26:50.860 --> 00:27:00.792
You<00:26:51.458> know,<00:26:51.620> and<00:26:51.766> I<00:26:51.927> think,<00:26:53.157> I<00:26:53.319> think<00:26:53.480> the<00:26:53.966> other<00:26:54.289> leaders<00:26:54.791> of<00:26:55.584> organizations<00:26:56.376> such<00:26:56.571> as<00:26:56.781> NATO,<00:26:58.156> I<00:26:58.318> think<00:26:58.803> they're,<00:26:59.531> they're<00:26:59.920> probably<00:27:00.199> concerned.

00:27:01.407 --> 00:27:14.004
Are<00:27:01.825> they<00:27:02.212> willing<00:27:02.631> to<00:27:03.195> make<00:27:03.501> the<00:27:03.694> sacrifices<00:27:04.644> necessary<00:27:06.239> to<00:27:08.268> make<00:27:08.735> a<00:27:08.832> leadership<00:27:09.396> decision<00:27:11.075> and<00:27:11.399> hopefully<00:27:11.803> the<00:27:11.965> right<00:27:12.289> leadership<00:27:12.774> decision<00:27:13.503> politically?

00:27:15.137 --> 00:27:18.585
I<00:27:15.218> don't<00:27:15.542> know<00:27:15.785> that<00:27:16.092> all<00:27:16.189> of<00:27:16.351> those<00:27:16.675> are<00:27:16.821> in<00:27:16.999> the<00:27:17.161> place<00:27:18.132> at<00:27:18.213> the<00:27:18.374> moment.

00:27:20.868 --> 00:27:25.265
In<00:27:21.029> your<00:27:21.915> career<00:27:22.656> over<00:27:22.833> the<00:27:22.978> years,<00:27:24.089> how<00:27:24.186> important<00:27:24.508> has<00:27:24.669> leadership<00:27:25.153> been?

00:27:25.410 --> 00:27:31.143
And<00:27:25.781> are<00:27:25.877> there<00:27:26.103> examples<00:27:26.602> of<00:27:26.683> like,<00:27:26.908> hey,<00:27:27.085> this—<00:27:27.649> what<00:27:27.794> happened<00:27:28.197> here<00:27:28.535> when<00:27:28.696> these<00:27:28.954> two<00:27:29.179> leaders<00:27:29.437> got<00:27:29.550> together,<00:27:29.915> this<00:27:30.164> one<00:27:30.396> leader<00:27:30.529> did<00:27:30.612> this,<00:27:30.678> it<00:27:30.712> made<00:27:30.761> all<00:27:30.811> the<00:27:30.861> difference<00:27:31.010> in<00:27:31.044> the<00:27:31.077> world?

00:27:35.001 --> 00:27:48.004
Well,<00:27:35.179> I'm<00:27:35.340> sure<00:27:35.582> there's<00:27:36.711> a<00:27:36.791> lot<00:27:37.017> of<00:27:37.098> examples<00:27:37.759> from<00:27:38.549> the<00:27:39.291> dawn<00:27:39.549> of<00:27:39.694> warfare<00:27:40.323> that,<00:27:40.968> you<00:27:41.064> know,<00:27:41.290> from<00:27:41.467> a<00:27:41.484> military<00:27:42.032> perspective,<00:27:44.378> specific<00:27:44.945> leaders<00:27:45.269> have<00:27:45.430> been<00:27:45.657> absolutely<00:27:46.223> crucial<00:27:47.211> to<00:27:47.372> success.

00:27:49.072 --> 00:27:58.859
They've<00:27:49.314> also<00:27:50.124> been<00:27:51.398> able<00:27:51.656> to<00:27:51.800> define,<00:27:53.971> you<00:27:55.370> know,<00:27:56.785> the—<00:27:56.881> what<00:27:57.042> are<00:27:57.138> the<00:27:57.219> success<00:27:57.765> factors<00:27:58.248> in<00:27:58.392> business<00:27:58.794> terms?

00:27:59.969 --> 00:28:01.638
What<00:28:00.081> does<00:28:00.242> it<00:28:00.450> mean<00:28:00.948> when<00:28:01.173> we<00:28:01.414> win?

00:28:02.216 --> 00:28:08.847
You<00:28:02.313> know,<00:28:02.634> nobody's<00:28:03.019> really<00:28:03.212> said<00:28:03.597> that<00:28:03.918> and<00:28:04.641> nobody's<00:28:05.122> really<00:28:05.524> committed<00:28:06.487> to<00:28:06.953> what<00:28:07.290> winning<00:28:07.932> is,<00:28:08.639> right?

00:28:09.040 --> 00:28:19.910
And<00:28:09.136> so,<00:28:10.003> you<00:28:10.035> know,<00:28:10.260> it's<00:28:10.565> always<00:28:10.822> this<00:28:11.143> challenge,<00:28:11.866> the<00:28:12.107> political<00:28:12.749> versus<00:28:13.214> the<00:28:13.311> military,<00:28:14.659> um,<00:28:15.157> to,<00:28:15.703> to<00:28:16.522> have<00:28:16.843> the<00:28:17.004> leaders<00:28:17.405> agree<00:28:17.871> and,<00:28:18.047> and<00:28:18.208> march<00:28:18.529> in<00:28:18.770> one<00:28:18.994> direction,<00:28:19.508> if<00:28:19.637> you<00:28:19.733> will.

00:28:19.974 --> 00:28:30.199
So<00:28:20.777> to<00:28:20.857> answer<00:28:21.017> your<00:28:21.258> question,<00:28:21.901> you<00:28:22.366> know,<00:28:22.543> for<00:28:22.703> me,<00:28:23.265> there's,<00:28:23.747> there's<00:28:23.907> a<00:28:23.988> couple<00:28:24.389> of,<00:28:24.791> of<00:28:25.176> of<00:28:25.353> leaders,<00:28:25.981> you<00:28:26.239> know,<00:28:26.464> throughout<00:28:27.446> my<00:28:27.542> military<00:28:28.170> career<00:28:28.557> that<00:28:28.669> have<00:28:29.040> absolutely<00:28:29.539> been<00:28:29.700> essential.

00:28:30.263 --> 00:28:32.500
One<00:28:30.424> of<00:28:30.504> those<00:28:30.826> is<00:28:31.470> General<00:28:31.937> Al<00:28:32.179> Gray.

00:28:33.225 --> 00:28:37.614
Um,<00:28:33.885> I<00:28:34.046> think,<00:28:34.287> you<00:28:34.674> know,<00:28:34.980> he<00:28:35.076> was<00:28:35.317> a,<00:28:36.056> a<00:28:36.136> Marine's<00:28:36.698> Marine,<00:28:37.164> if<00:28:37.325> you<00:28:37.486> will.

00:28:38.289 --> 00:28:42.546
Um,<00:28:38.530> he<00:28:38.706> came<00:28:39.012> from<00:28:39.124> the<00:28:39.333> enlisted<00:28:39.815> ranks<00:28:40.233> and,<00:28:40.618> and<00:28:41.180> rose<00:28:41.518> to<00:28:42.000> commandant.

00:28:43.429 --> 00:28:56.252
Um,<00:28:44.554> you<00:28:44.602> know,<00:28:45.037> his,<00:28:45.461> his<00:28:47.400> only<00:28:48.231> guiding<00:28:48.703> principle<00:28:49.437> was<00:28:49.681> that<00:28:50.170> leaders<00:28:51.713> had<00:28:51.874> to<00:28:51.954> take<00:28:52.195> the<00:28:52.339> responsibility<00:28:53.558> to<00:28:54.744> take<00:28:54.921> care<00:28:55.306> of<00:28:55.482> their<00:28:55.803> Marines.

00:28:56.749 --> 00:29:00.678
Didn't<00:28:57.006> matter<00:28:57.471> what<00:28:57.711> the<00:28:57.759> situations<00:28:58.449> were,<00:28:58.690> that<00:28:58.994> was<00:28:59.171> their<00:28:59.331> first<00:28:59.812> goal<00:29:00.069> and<00:29:00.213> objective.

00:29:01.496 --> 00:29:04.511
The<00:29:01.576> second<00:29:01.977> goal<00:29:02.202> and<00:29:02.282> objective<00:29:02.923> was<00:29:03.164> to<00:29:03.404> win<00:29:04.046> the<00:29:04.142> battle.

00:29:05.345 --> 00:29:12.626
And<00:29:05.441> so<00:29:05.666> I<00:29:05.810> think<00:29:06.387> those<00:29:06.772> kinds<00:29:07.093> of<00:29:07.125> statements<00:29:08.616> in,<00:29:09.274> in<00:29:09.450> a<00:29:10.076> time<00:29:10.397> of<00:29:10.701> war<00:29:11.680> are<00:29:11.840> very<00:29:12.161> important.

00:29:13.428 --> 00:29:24.168
And,<00:29:13.989> and<00:29:14.406> there<00:29:14.791> are<00:29:16.154> several<00:29:18.161> generals<00:29:18.803> and<00:29:19.140> admirals<00:29:20.329> within<00:29:20.730> our<00:29:20.907> current<00:29:21.373> US<00:29:21.791> forces<00:29:22.192> that<00:29:23.059> have<00:29:23.316> that<00:29:23.557> capability.

00:29:25.308 --> 00:29:42.479
There<00:29:25.469> are<00:29:25.870> current<00:29:26.352> leaders<00:29:26.690> within<00:29:27.075> the<00:29:27.171> Israeli<00:29:28.135> command<00:29:28.697> right<00:29:29.002> now,<00:29:29.645> coming<00:29:29.902> back<00:29:30.143> to<00:29:30.287> our<00:29:30.464> first<00:29:30.850> topic,<00:29:32.311> that<00:29:32.777> are<00:29:33.098> absolutely<00:29:33.677> capable<00:29:34.383> and<00:29:34.480> can<00:29:34.801> lead<00:29:35.508> their<00:29:35.684> people,<00:29:36.246> and<00:29:36.327> they<00:29:36.503> know,<00:29:37.531> they<00:29:37.756> understand<00:29:38.559> what<00:29:39.041> win<00:29:39.523> is<00:29:39.700> going<00:29:39.941> to<00:29:40.021> mean,<00:29:40.503> what<00:29:40.647> sacrifices<00:29:41.708> have<00:29:41.949> to<00:29:42.029> be<00:29:42.189> made.

00:29:42.912 --> 00:29:43.426
To<00:29:43.057> get<00:29:43.314> there.

00:29:44.598 --> 00:29:50.025
And<00:29:44.759> so<00:29:44.839> I<00:29:45.000> think<00:29:45.144> that's<00:29:45.337> important<00:29:46.685> in<00:29:46.830> a<00:29:47.328> political<00:29:47.954> context<00:29:48.516> and<00:29:49.238> leading<00:29:49.576> the<00:29:49.640> country.

00:29:50.523 --> 00:29:51.695
Now,<00:29:50.603> I'm<00:29:50.844> not<00:29:51.021> a<00:29:51.085> politician.

00:29:51.743 --> 00:30:07.158
I<00:29:51.824> don't<00:29:52.530> have<00:29:52.787> that<00:29:53.028> kind<00:29:53.253> of<00:29:53.349> experience,<00:29:55.115> but<00:29:55.517> I<00:29:55.741> think<00:29:56.962> rallying<00:29:58.953> the<00:29:59.129> populace<00:30:00.574> and<00:30:00.815> getting<00:30:01.538> populist<00:30:02.164> support<00:30:03.063> to<00:30:03.224> move<00:30:03.449> in<00:30:03.513> a<00:30:03.529> direction<00:30:04.749> is<00:30:05.295> much<00:30:05.616> more<00:30:05.793> of<00:30:05.889> an<00:30:06.178> art<00:30:06.339> than<00:30:06.515> a<00:30:06.580> science.

00:30:07.382 --> 00:30:20.126
It<00:30:07.623> is<00:30:08.282> something<00:30:08.747> that<00:30:09.068> you<00:30:09.229> have<00:30:09.485> to<00:30:10.208> yourself<00:30:10.673> believe<00:30:11.315> in<00:30:11.492> and<00:30:11.636> take<00:30:11.893> that<00:30:12.198> from<00:30:12.374> a,<00:30:12.776> a<00:30:12.920> leader's<00:30:13.257> perspective<00:30:14.381> and<00:30:14.461> translate<00:30:15.183> that<00:30:15.825> into<00:30:16.226> the<00:30:16.387> populace<00:30:17.414> so<00:30:17.575> that<00:30:17.831> you<00:30:18.056> have<00:30:18.778> support<00:30:19.356> to<00:30:19.661> execute.

00:30:21.025 --> 00:30:34.493
And<00:30:21.924> I<00:30:22.004> think,<00:30:22.550> you<00:30:22.582> know,<00:30:22.727> examples<00:30:23.369> of<00:30:23.449> that<00:30:23.914> are,<00:30:24.171> are<00:30:24.332> people<00:30:25.134> like,<00:30:25.680> you<00:30:25.760> know,<00:30:26.900> uh,<00:30:27.301> Reagan,<00:30:27.782> like<00:30:28.087> Eisenhower,<00:30:28.826> like,<00:30:29.548> um,<00:30:30.094> you<00:30:30.431> know,<00:30:30.591> in<00:30:30.671> some<00:30:30.976> cases<00:30:31.490> even,<00:30:31.939> even<00:30:32.196> Kennedy,<00:30:32.758> although<00:30:33.159> he<00:30:33.304> had<00:30:33.560> some,<00:30:33.625> some<00:30:33.930> some<00:30:34.123> issues.

00:30:35.170 --> 00:30:38.568
I<00:30:35.250> think<00:30:35.476> he<00:30:35.556> was<00:30:35.959> able<00:30:36.200> to<00:30:36.361> rally<00:30:36.780> the<00:30:36.941> populace<00:30:37.585> in<00:30:37.746> the<00:30:37.891> United<00:30:38.230> States.

00:30:38.632 --> 00:30:41.982
And<00:30:38.713> so<00:30:39.518> those<00:30:39.921> leaders,<00:30:40.468> I<00:30:40.645> think,<00:30:40.951> are<00:30:41.274> important.

00:30:42.095 --> 00:30:54.903
But<00:30:42.256> there's<00:30:42.498> a<00:30:42.578> number<00:30:42.965> of<00:30:43.110> those,<00:30:44.177> um,<00:30:44.435> that<00:30:44.662> I<00:30:44.759> think<00:30:45.405> in<00:30:45.551> this<00:30:47.265> day<00:30:47.507> and<00:30:47.814> age,<00:30:48.235> if<00:30:48.461> this<00:30:48.704> becomes<00:30:49.593> a<00:30:49.690> conflict<00:30:51.145> more<00:30:51.387> than<00:30:51.614> what<00:30:51.792> it<00:30:51.953> is<00:30:52.196> right<00:30:52.438> at<00:30:52.584> the<00:30:52.779> moment,<00:30:53.252> I<00:30:53.399> think<00:30:53.579> we're<00:30:53.726> going<00:30:53.857> to<00:30:53.988> need<00:30:54.151> those<00:30:54.478> leaders.

00:30:55.605 --> 00:30:57.582
Um,<00:30:56.438> I'm<00:30:56.585> not<00:30:56.765> sure<00:30:57.076> they're<00:30:57.174> in<00:30:57.337> place.

00:30:59.310 --> 00:31:08.602
Coming<00:30:59.488> back<00:30:59.812> to<00:31:00.379> the<00:31:00.541> current<00:31:00.848> conflict<00:31:01.367> and<00:31:01.496> where<00:31:01.674> we're<00:31:01.820> at<00:31:02.063> right<00:31:02.338> now,<00:31:02.711> rather<00:31:03.051> than<00:31:03.213> like,<00:31:03.278> hey,<00:31:03.326> here's<00:31:03.424> where<00:31:03.472> we<00:31:03.505> could<00:31:03.586> potentially<00:31:03.780> be,<00:31:03.845> which<00:31:05.830> which<00:31:05.910> is<00:31:06.022> super<00:31:06.342> scary,<00:31:07.208> what<00:31:07.304> we've<00:31:07.624> talked<00:31:07.881> about<00:31:08.041> so<00:31:08.329> far.

00:31:09.291 --> 00:31:09.403
Right.

00:31:09.467 --> 00:31:18.296
What<00:31:09.627> are<00:31:09.707> the<00:31:09.868> proper<00:31:10.493> warfare<00:31:11.069> tactics<00:31:11.871> for<00:31:12.415> Israel<00:31:13.072> right<00:31:13.313> now<00:31:14.659> as<00:31:14.835> they<00:31:14.995> go<00:31:15.236> into<00:31:15.476> Gaza<00:31:16.117> and<00:31:16.662> as<00:31:16.838> they've<00:31:17.062> said,<00:31:17.319> wipe<00:31:17.623> out<00:31:17.864> Hamas?

00:31:18.985 --> 00:31:21.533
We<00:31:19.017> need<00:31:19.146> to<00:31:19.226> first<00:31:19.482> like<00:31:19.642> understand<00:31:20.043> what<00:31:20.267> wipe<00:31:20.508> out<00:31:20.668> Hamas<00:31:21.085> means.

00:31:22.431 --> 00:31:33.849
And<00:31:22.991> two,<00:31:23.248> like<00:31:23.472> what<00:31:23.584> is<00:31:23.728> the<00:31:23.809> proper<00:31:25.395> warfare<00:31:25.876> tactic<00:31:26.437> here<00:31:27.494> that<00:31:28.279> could<00:31:28.840> potentially<00:31:29.914> stop<00:31:30.443> the<00:31:30.539> spread<00:31:31.100> of<00:31:31.196> this<00:31:31.420> becoming<00:31:33.115> you<00:31:33.197> know,<00:31:33.360> World<00:31:33.588> War<00:31:33.653> III?

00:31:36.283 --> 00:31:54.730
Well,<00:31:38.773> I,<00:31:39.275> I<00:31:39.355> think<00:31:39.760> the,<00:31:40.148> the<00:31:40.568> academic<00:31:41.361> answer<00:31:41.700> is,<00:31:41.943> is<00:31:42.105> that<00:31:42.752> Israel<00:31:44.045> does<00:31:44.288> not<00:31:44.531> go<00:31:44.757> in<00:31:44.854> and<00:31:45.016> conduct<00:31:45.485> an<00:31:45.582> urban<00:31:45.904> campaign<00:31:46.951> to<00:31:47.176> root<00:31:47.418> out<00:31:47.579> Hamas,<00:31:48.159> and<00:31:48.320> Hamas<00:31:49.431> steps<00:31:49.850> back<00:31:50.269> and,<00:31:50.639> and,<00:31:51.042> and,<00:31:51.621> you<00:31:51.702> know,<00:31:52.491> tries<00:31:52.813> to<00:31:53.071> look<00:31:53.297> for<00:31:53.393> some<00:31:53.715> peaceful<00:31:54.102> way<00:31:54.343> out<00:31:54.521> of<00:31:54.650> this.

00:31:55.636 --> 00:32:00.098
Uh,<00:31:57.010> I<00:31:57.026> don't<00:31:57.269> think<00:31:57.495> that's<00:31:57.738> going<00:31:57.835> to<00:31:57.916> happen<00:31:58.320> because<00:31:58.578> I<00:31:58.643> don't<00:31:58.886> think<00:31:59.128> Hamas<00:31:59.613> wants<00:32:00.001> that.

00:32:00.179 --> 00:32:01.731
They<00:32:00.341> want<00:32:00.567> the<00:32:00.664> destruction<00:32:01.230> of<00:32:01.376> Israel.

00:32:01.796 --> 00:32:07.417
So<00:32:01.958> anytime<00:32:02.184> you<00:32:02.232> have<00:32:02.297> a<00:32:03.960> a,<00:32:04.711> you<00:32:04.731> know,<00:32:05.037> even<00:32:05.986> back<00:32:06.243> as<00:32:06.388> far<00:32:06.549> as<00:32:06.661> Attila<00:32:07.144> the<00:32:07.208> Hun.

00:32:08.093 --> 00:32:15.653
I<00:32:08.173> mean,<00:32:08.398> if<00:32:08.800> you<00:32:08.977> want<00:32:09.218> to<00:32:09.283> destroy<00:32:10.666> a<00:32:10.746> people,<00:32:12.977> you're<00:32:13.315> not<00:32:13.557> going<00:32:13.702> to<00:32:13.735> negotiate<00:32:14.444> with<00:32:14.589> that<00:32:14.767> kind<00:32:15.008> of<00:32:15.170> mindset.

00:32:16.363 --> 00:32:40.442
And<00:32:17.572> so<00:32:18.459> the<00:32:18.491> next<00:32:19.459> layer,<00:32:19.926> if<00:32:20.152> you<00:32:20.313> will,<00:32:20.652> if<00:32:20.974> you<00:32:21.119> understand<00:32:21.700> that<00:32:22.247> you<00:32:22.343> can't<00:32:22.649> get<00:32:22.825> to<00:32:23.066> a<00:32:23.629> peaceful<00:32:24.046> solution,<00:32:25.396> I<00:32:25.476> think<00:32:25.942> Israel<00:32:26.440> has<00:32:26.842> to<00:32:29.171> play—<00:32:29.717> play<00:32:29.894> is<00:32:29.990> a<00:32:30.055> bad<00:32:30.296> word—<00:32:30.601> they<00:32:30.697> have<00:32:30.874> to<00:32:31.163> execute<00:32:34.918> the<00:32:34.938> campaign<00:32:38.435> within<00:32:38.921> the<00:32:39.066> laws<00:32:39.406> of<00:32:39.568> war.

00:32:40.685 --> 00:32:47.175
And<00:32:40.847> those<00:32:41.090> laws<00:32:41.349> of<00:32:41.560> war<00:32:42.867> are<00:32:42.963> somewhat<00:32:43.431> flexible,<00:32:44.319> but<00:32:45.368> they're<00:32:45.610> doing<00:32:45.868> the<00:32:46.191> right<00:32:46.497> things<00:32:46.836> right<00:32:46.998> now.

00:32:47.240 --> 00:32:51.322
So<00:32:47.546> they're,<00:32:47.804> they're<00:32:47.966> notifying<00:32:48.918> when<00:32:49.079> they're<00:32:49.337> going<00:32:49.660> to<00:32:50.548> bomb<00:32:50.870> a<00:32:51.000> building.

00:32:51.418 --> 00:32:56.782
They're<00:32:51.676> providing<00:32:52.465> enough<00:32:52.884> time<00:32:53.351> for<00:32:53.915> civilians<00:32:54.656> to<00:32:55.139> leave<00:32:55.768> the<00:32:55.929> buildings<00:32:56.347> and<00:32:56.492> get<00:32:56.734> out.

00:32:58.260 --> 00:33:06.920
They're<00:32:59.087> notifying<00:33:01.049> the<00:33:01.682> other<00:33:01.877> side,<00:33:02.671> the<00:33:02.915> fighting<00:33:03.466> entities<00:33:04.780> via<00:33:05.023> pamphlets<00:33:05.818> that<00:33:05.980> they're<00:33:06.370> coming<00:33:06.726> through.

00:33:08.247 --> 00:33:12.277
They're<00:33:08.651> putting<00:33:08.910> themselves<00:33:09.396> at<00:33:09.558> risk<00:33:09.881> by<00:33:10.205> letting<00:33:10.529> people<00:33:10.853> know<00:33:11.160> what<00:33:11.338> they're<00:33:11.500> going<00:33:11.759> to<00:33:11.888> be<00:33:12.066> doing.

00:33:13.947 --> 00:33:20.159
20<00:33:14.270> years<00:33:14.594> ago,<00:33:15.500> 30<00:33:15.807> years<00:33:16.082> ago,<00:33:16.470> maybe<00:33:16.858> 50<00:33:17.182> years<00:33:17.441> ago,<00:33:18.331> we<00:33:18.557> would've<00:33:19.139> not<00:33:19.528> notified.

00:33:20.903 --> 00:33:25.066
We<00:33:21.064> would've<00:33:21.323> just<00:33:22.439> walked<00:33:22.844> in<00:33:23.189> and<00:33:24.003> done<00:33:24.252> what<00:33:24.418> we<00:33:24.518> needed<00:33:24.718> to<00:33:24.934> do.

00:33:25.989 --> 00:33:33.071
Second,<00:33:26.517> they're<00:33:26.678> going<00:33:26.838> to<00:33:26.934> have<00:33:27.094> to<00:33:27.655> be<00:33:28.040> overly<00:33:28.440> cautious<00:33:29.017> about<00:33:30.283> any<00:33:30.860> impact<00:33:31.340> to<00:33:31.805> civilian<00:33:32.286> populations.

00:33:33.968 --> 00:33:41.499
And<00:33:34.064> that's<00:33:34.369> going<00:33:34.465> to<00:33:34.545> be<00:33:34.689> difficult<00:33:35.202> in<00:33:35.330> this<00:33:35.490> situation<00:33:36.292> because<00:33:36.788> Hamas<00:33:38.230> is<00:33:38.455> going<00:33:38.791> to<00:33:39.592> mix<00:33:40.137> in<00:33:40.378> with<00:33:40.554> that<00:33:40.714> population.

00:33:41.996 --> 00:33:48.854
The<00:33:42.076> population<00:33:42.765> will<00:33:42.957> be<00:33:43.054> so<00:33:43.358> scared<00:33:43.919> and<00:33:44.063> they<00:33:44.223> won't<00:33:44.944> want<00:33:45.121> to<00:33:45.281> identify<00:33:46.002> those<00:33:46.803> fighters,<00:33:47.845> the<00:33:47.989> Hamas<00:33:48.470> fighters.

00:33:49.431 --> 00:33:52.475
And<00:33:49.527> so,<00:33:49.848> they'll<00:33:50.088> be<00:33:50.312> mixed<00:33:50.665> in<00:33:50.809> with<00:33:51.049> the<00:33:51.306> civilian<00:33:51.770> population.

00:33:53.232 --> 00:34:07.323
So,<00:33:53.539> they<00:33:53.781> have<00:33:54.023> to<00:33:54.120> be<00:33:54.572> overly<00:33:54.976> cautious<00:33:55.476> about<00:33:55.799> how<00:33:56.041> they<00:33:56.284> detain,<00:33:57.801> how<00:33:57.979> they<00:33:58.140> move<00:33:58.624> people,<00:33:59.093> how<00:33:59.254> they<00:33:59.415> allow<00:33:59.754> people<00:34:00.077> to<00:34:00.174> stay<00:34:00.562> within<00:34:01.595> the<00:34:01.660> confines<00:34:02.566> of<00:34:02.889> the<00:34:03.132> operating<00:34:03.796> area<00:34:04.265> that<00:34:04.993> the<00:34:05.640> forces<00:34:06.061> are<00:34:06.142> going<00:34:06.336> to<00:34:06.385> be<00:34:06.611> operating<00:34:07.258> in.

00:34:07.987 --> 00:34:15.609
So,<00:34:08.326> bottom<00:34:08.731> line<00:34:09.119> is,<00:34:09.459> is<00:34:09.686> that<00:34:10.009> they're<00:34:10.333> going<00:34:10.673> to<00:34:11.466> have<00:34:11.870> to<00:34:13.602> exceed<00:34:14.703> the<00:34:14.864> laws<00:34:15.188> of<00:34:15.512> war.

00:34:16.175 --> 00:34:19.812
They're<00:34:16.321> going<00:34:16.499> to<00:34:16.564> have<00:34:16.823> to<00:34:17.049> be<00:34:18.101> extremely<00:34:19.387> sensitive.

00:34:20.385 --> 00:34:26.144
They're<00:34:20.549> going<00:34:20.811> to<00:34:20.958> have<00:34:21.285> to<00:34:21.433> be<00:34:21.695> extremely<00:34:22.529> cautious,<00:34:24.409> and<00:34:24.489> that's<00:34:24.762> difficult<00:34:25.228> to<00:34:25.389> do<00:34:25.566> in<00:34:25.726> wartime.

00:34:27.076 --> 00:34:38.814
And<00:34:27.237> so,<00:34:28.298> provided<00:34:28.860> everything<00:34:29.825> goes<00:34:30.452> 100%<00:34:31.352> right,<00:34:33.039> they<00:34:33.668> should<00:34:33.927> maintain<00:34:34.655> the<00:34:34.736> support<00:34:35.448> of<00:34:36.435> like-minded<00:34:37.164> nations<00:34:37.795> as<00:34:37.956> they<00:34:38.134> move<00:34:38.361> through.

00:34:40.400 --> 00:34:45.167
And<00:34:40.707> I<00:34:40.950> think<00:34:41.290> that<00:34:42.898> they<00:34:43.143> will<00:34:44.220> reach<00:34:44.530> their<00:34:44.710> objective.

00:34:46.444 --> 00:34:51.477
And<00:34:46.588> that<00:34:46.909> is<00:34:47.085> to<00:34:47.229> move<00:34:48.768> and<00:34:48.912> destroy<00:34:49.650> Hamas<00:34:50.131> as<00:34:50.275> a<00:34:50.371> fighting<00:34:50.756> organization.

00:34:52.872 --> 00:35:03.036
As<00:34:53.000> you<00:34:53.097> look<00:34:53.273> at<00:34:53.401> like<00:34:53.658> the<00:34:53.882> economic<00:34:55.197> state<00:34:55.581> of<00:34:55.662> the<00:34:55.806> world<00:34:56.447> and<00:34:56.623> inflation<00:34:57.585> and<00:34:57.730> what's<00:34:57.906> happening<00:34:58.307> in<00:34:58.387> the<00:34:58.451> United<00:34:58.788> States<00:34:59.188> with<00:34:59.750> prices<00:35:00.134> going<00:35:00.375> up<00:35:00.487> and<00:35:00.567> there's<00:35:00.792> inflation<00:35:01.256> all<00:35:01.353> around<00:35:01.593> the<00:35:01.753> world,<00:35:02.138> of<00:35:02.234> course,<00:35:02.795> right?

00:35:03.180 --> 00:35:04.655
China's<00:35:03.453> economy<00:35:03.821> is<00:35:03.934> not<00:35:04.078> doing<00:35:04.318> great.

00:35:04.783 --> 00:35:06.098
Russia's<00:35:05.056> economy<00:35:05.409> is<00:35:05.457> not<00:35:05.601> doing<00:35:05.841> great.

00:35:06.162 --> 00:35:07.877
United<00:35:06.451> States<00:35:06.659> economy<00:35:07.108> isn't<00:35:07.284> doing<00:35:07.605> great.

00:35:07.990 --> 00:35:09.256
It's<00:35:08.086> doing<00:35:08.326> better<00:35:08.567> than<00:35:08.647> all<00:35:08.807> of<00:35:08.951> those.

00:35:09.689 --> 00:35:10.763
Europe's<00:35:10.074> not<00:35:10.250> doing<00:35:10.490> great.

00:35:11.705 --> 00:35:15.950
What<00:35:11.867> that<00:35:12.028> means<00:35:12.270> to—<00:35:12.593> what<00:35:12.819> I—<00:35:13.222> when<00:35:13.384> I,<00:35:13.561> when<00:35:13.722> I<00:35:13.803> see<00:35:14.029> something<00:35:14.271> like<00:35:14.384> that,<00:35:14.594> I'm<00:35:14.675> like,<00:35:14.868> so<00:35:15.014> that's<00:35:15.175> instability.

00:35:16.305 --> 00:35:25.298
Like,<00:35:16.627> and<00:35:16.789> that—<00:35:17.499> how<00:35:17.596> do<00:35:17.741> we<00:35:17.902> get,<00:35:19.687> um,<00:35:19.707> what<00:35:19.886> role<00:35:20.130> does<00:35:20.292> the<00:35:20.455> economy<00:35:21.007> play<00:35:21.658> and<00:35:22.080> business<00:35:22.405> and<00:35:22.551> all<00:35:22.633> of<00:35:22.714> this<00:35:22.828> type<00:35:23.055> of<00:35:23.088> stuff<00:35:23.445> in<00:35:23.608> helping<00:35:23.949> to<00:35:24.096> gain<00:35:24.437> some<00:35:24.697> stability?

00:35:27.237 --> 00:35:59.945
Well,<00:35:27.657> certainly<00:35:28.369> if,<00:35:28.854> if,<00:35:29.403> if<00:35:29.646> we<00:35:29.824> can<00:35:30.777> turn<00:35:31.020> the<00:35:31.117> economy<00:35:31.683> around,<00:35:32.168> and<00:35:32.410> we<00:35:32.798> meaning<00:35:33.219> the<00:35:33.380> big<00:35:33.704> we,<00:35:34.188> all<00:35:34.415> of<00:35:34.593> the<00:35:34.738> industrial<00:35:36.032> bases<00:35:37.236> all<00:35:37.333> of<00:35:37.653> the<00:35:38.616> business<00:35:39.017> structures,<00:35:40.059> if<00:35:40.203> they<00:35:40.444> maintain<00:35:41.663> that<00:35:41.759> stability<00:35:42.465> and<00:35:42.625> drive<00:35:44.630> inflation<00:35:45.351> down,<00:35:47.116> continue<00:35:47.597> to<00:35:47.757> keep<00:35:48.463> their<00:35:48.639> employees<00:35:50.227> employed<00:35:51.510> across<00:35:52.167> the<00:35:52.312> country<00:35:52.873> where<00:35:53.514> that<00:35:54.156> they're<00:35:54.429> not<00:35:54.958> continuously<00:35:55.760> thinking<00:35:56.096> about<00:35:56.578> the<00:35:56.722> potential<00:35:57.363> for<00:35:57.620> World<00:35:57.925> War<00:35:58.261> III,<00:35:59.128> as<00:35:59.304> an<00:35:59.384> example.

00:36:01.293 --> 00:36:05.639
I<00:36:01.469> think,<00:36:01.870> I<00:36:01.950> think<00:36:02.191> that<00:36:02.736> that<00:36:02.912> changes<00:36:04.500> some<00:36:04.677> of<00:36:04.757> the<00:36:04.901> dynamics.

00:36:06.024 --> 00:36:30.677
However,<00:36:07.323> we<00:36:07.484> continue,<00:36:08.606> again,<00:36:09.072> from<00:36:09.248> a<00:36:09.328> leadership<00:36:09.890> role,<00:36:10.146> if<00:36:10.194> we<00:36:10.291> continue<00:36:10.996> to,<00:36:11.157> you<00:36:12.135> know,<00:36:12.231> spend<00:36:12.616> money<00:36:12.937> we<00:36:13.499> don't<00:36:13.803> have,<00:36:14.301> continue<00:36:14.942> to,<00:36:15.087> you<00:36:15.921> know,<00:36:16.386> pay<00:36:16.771> forward<00:36:18.471> in<00:36:18.551> the<00:36:18.631> sense<00:36:18.936> of<00:36:19.032> a<00:36:19.193> negative<00:36:19.658> pay<00:36:19.915> forward,<00:36:22.144> I<00:36:22.304> think<00:36:22.705> we<00:36:22.802> see<00:36:23.283> the<00:36:23.427> potential<00:36:23.989> for<00:36:25.111> our<00:36:25.432> banking<00:36:25.849> system<00:36:26.330> to<00:36:26.555> collapse<00:36:28.255> depending<00:36:28.720> on<00:36:29.298> which<00:36:29.522> system<00:36:29.939> goes<00:36:30.260> first.

00:36:31.709 --> 00:36:38.970
That<00:36:32.016> could<00:36:33.952> actually<00:36:34.452> facilitate<00:36:35.824> a<00:36:35.969> quicker<00:36:36.372> rise<00:36:36.856> to<00:36:37.905> all-out<00:36:38.309> world<00:36:38.631> war.

00:36:40.310 --> 00:37:04.400
If<00:36:40.568> leaders<00:36:41.052> can<00:36:41.618> continue<00:36:42.344> to<00:36:43.394> move<00:36:43.636> forward<00:36:44.363> on<00:36:44.556> doing<00:36:45.768> something<00:36:46.333> about<00:36:46.640> the<00:36:46.866> debt,<00:36:47.447> allowing<00:36:47.996> businesses<00:36:48.658> to<00:36:49.449> move<00:36:49.707> forward,<00:36:50.836> probably<00:36:51.465> in<00:36:51.562> this<00:36:51.788> particular<00:36:52.272> case<00:36:52.595> reduce<00:36:53.079> some<00:36:53.272> of<00:36:53.337> the<00:36:53.482> regulatory<00:36:54.208> requirements<00:36:54.789> so<00:36:55.515> businesses<00:36:56.079> can<00:36:56.883> you<00:36:56.915> know,<00:36:57.043> spend<00:36:57.911> their<00:36:58.088> money<00:36:58.345> more<00:36:59.517> frugally<00:37:00.641> relating<00:37:01.059> to<00:37:01.862> improving<00:37:02.344> their<00:37:02.489> products<00:37:02.906> and<00:37:03.051> delivery<00:37:03.533> of<00:37:03.629> their<00:37:03.806> services.

00:37:05.075 --> 00:37:06.970
I<00:37:05.155> think<00:37:05.380> that<00:37:05.572> stabilizes<00:37:06.440> the<00:37:06.520> economy.

00:37:07.387 --> 00:37:20.221
Without<00:37:07.885> a<00:37:07.901> stabilized<00:37:08.624> economy<00:37:09.170> moving<00:37:09.572> forward,<00:37:10.054> and<00:37:10.439> God<00:37:10.680> forbid,<00:37:11.580> you<00:37:11.660> know,<00:37:12.286> you<00:37:12.367> know,<00:37:12.463> inflation<00:37:13.090> drives<00:37:13.507> us,<00:37:14.375> um,<00:37:14.632> to,<00:37:15.258> to<00:37:15.435> the<00:37:15.595> brink,<00:37:16.543> uh,<00:37:16.800> I<00:37:17.025> think,<00:37:17.683> I<00:37:17.764> think<00:37:17.988> there's,<00:37:18.470> um,<00:37:19.049> a<00:37:19.129> huge<00:37:19.530> problem<00:37:19.916> ahead.

00:37:20.510 --> 00:37:25.171
I'm<00:37:20.735> not<00:37:20.960> an<00:37:21.362> economist,<00:37:22.100> but<00:37:22.743> in<00:37:23.049> every<00:37:23.386> war<00:37:23.627> that<00:37:23.788> you<00:37:23.820> could<00:37:24.110> go<00:37:24.270> back<00:37:24.608> in<00:37:24.753> history.

00:37:25.942 --> 00:37:38.317
You<00:37:26.023> know,<00:37:26.183> the<00:37:26.360> lack<00:37:26.682> of<00:37:26.778> a<00:37:26.842> stable<00:37:27.325> economy<00:37:27.887> has<00:37:28.273> always<00:37:28.691> driven<00:37:29.173> the<00:37:29.334> worst<00:37:29.736> in<00:37:29.897> people,<00:37:30.379> therefore<00:37:31.811> the<00:37:31.892> extension<00:37:32.938> of<00:37:33.583> the<00:37:33.679> time<00:37:34.001> it<00:37:34.162> takes<00:37:34.436> to<00:37:34.629> solve<00:37:35.290> a<00:37:35.451> war<00:37:36.256> problem<00:37:36.723> or<00:37:36.819> to<00:37:37.045> come<00:37:37.286> to<00:37:37.383> a<00:37:37.463> peaceful<00:37:37.898> solution.

00:37:40.139 --> 00:37:41.270
How<00:37:40.222> do<00:37:40.388> you<00:37:40.488> stay<00:37:40.821> optimistic?

00:37:43.419 --> 00:37:50.079
I<00:37:43.483> have<00:37:44.368> grandkids,<00:37:47.006> so<00:37:47.167> I<00:37:47.263> think,<00:37:47.666> I<00:37:47.826> think,<00:37:48.148> you<00:37:48.229> know,<00:37:48.454> you<00:37:48.550> have<00:37:48.776> to<00:37:48.872> stay<00:37:49.339> optimistic.

00:37:50.223 --> 00:38:01.111
I<00:37:50.240> mean,<00:37:51.109> You<00:37:51.129> know,<00:37:51.979> I<00:37:52.397> sit<00:37:53.119> in<00:37:53.279> an<00:37:53.761> organization,<00:37:55.109> you<00:37:56.104> know,<00:37:56.329> that<00:37:56.586> is<00:37:58.094> an<00:37:58.335> American<00:37:58.977> in<00:37:59.474> a<00:37:59.619> Japanese<00:38:00.325> corporation.

00:38:02.106 --> 00:38:07.322
I<00:38:02.267> think<00:38:02.588> we're<00:38:02.813> extremely<00:38:03.471> diversified,<00:38:04.257> so<00:38:04.514> there's<00:38:04.899> all<00:38:05.076> kinds<00:38:06.183> of<00:38:06.664> viewpoints.

00:38:07.868 --> 00:38:10.356
I<00:38:07.964> think<00:38:08.269> as<00:38:08.430> a<00:38:08.526> leader,<00:38:08.927> you<00:38:09.152> have<00:38:09.345> to<00:38:09.489> stay<00:38:09.810> positive.

00:38:10.677 --> 00:38:14.785
And,<00:38:11.399> you<00:38:11.431> know,<00:38:11.511> that<00:38:11.736> doesn't<00:38:12.137> mean<00:38:12.763> you<00:38:13.245> don't<00:38:13.501> tell<00:38:14.063> the<00:38:14.207> truth.

00:38:15.026 --> 00:38:18.732
It<00:38:15.106> means<00:38:15.427> that<00:38:16.069> you<00:38:16.214> have<00:38:16.406> to<00:38:16.535> put<00:38:16.872> some<00:38:17.192> of<00:38:17.273> those<00:38:17.658> truths<00:38:17.994> in<00:38:18.219> context.

00:38:19.358 --> 00:38:25.308
And<00:38:19.454> so<00:38:19.903> when<00:38:20.384> I'm<00:38:20.705> asked<00:38:21.106> the<00:38:21.202> questions<00:38:21.667> that<00:38:21.828> you're<00:38:21.924> asking<00:38:22.309> me<00:38:22.485> by<00:38:22.646> my<00:38:22.806> employees,<00:38:23.688> I<00:38:23.913> give<00:38:24.153> those<00:38:24.410> truthful<00:38:24.955> answers.

00:38:25.453 --> 00:38:34.194
But<00:38:25.757> also,<00:38:26.575> here's<00:38:26.880> what<00:38:27.041> we're<00:38:27.137> going<00:38:27.458> to<00:38:27.618> do<00:38:27.939> to<00:38:28.725> try<00:38:28.901> to<00:38:28.981> stay<00:38:29.366> motivated,<00:38:30.024> to<00:38:30.184> try<00:38:30.425> to<00:38:31.050> look<00:38:31.467> on<00:38:31.628> the,<00:38:31.933> on<00:38:32.029> the<00:38:32.189> brighter<00:38:32.526> side,<00:38:32.895> to<00:38:33.152> try<00:38:33.328> to<00:38:33.472> stay<00:38:33.793> positive.

00:38:34.579 --> 00:38:37.963
Here's<00:38:34.820> how<00:38:34.980> we're<00:38:35.076> going<00:38:35.317> to<00:38:35.477> do<00:38:35.718> that,<00:38:36.359> and<00:38:36.520> here's<00:38:36.841> how<00:38:36.985> we<00:38:37.145> do<00:38:37.306> that<00:38:37.546> together.

00:38:38.044 --> 00:38:41.460
I<00:38:38.204> think,<00:38:38.846> I<00:38:38.910> think<00:38:39.086> that's<00:38:39.407> a<00:38:39.487> leader's<00:38:39.872> responsibility<00:38:40.915> to<00:38:41.075> do<00:38:41.316> that.

00:38:42.454 --> 00:38:54.891
And<00:38:42.599> again,<00:38:42.952> I<00:38:43.096> think<00:38:43.256> that's<00:38:43.561> difficult<00:38:44.058> for<00:38:44.139> some<00:38:44.395> of<00:38:44.459> these<00:38:44.700> leaders<00:38:45.502> who<00:38:46.449> maybe<00:38:47.011> don't<00:38:47.733> have<00:38:47.990> the<00:38:48.134> experiences<00:38:49.033> that<00:38:49.354> some<00:38:49.595> of<00:38:49.739> us<00:38:49.980> do<00:38:50.221> have<00:38:51.023> and,<00:38:51.296> and<00:38:51.424> don't<00:38:51.681> understand,<00:38:52.949> you<00:38:52.981> know,<00:38:53.286> what's<00:38:53.527> happened<00:38:54.169> in<00:38:54.249> the<00:38:54.409> past.

00:38:54.955 --> 00:38:59.545
I<00:38:55.115> think<00:38:55.292> they<00:38:55.677> always<00:38:56.496> think<00:38:56.720> this<00:38:56.897> is<00:38:56.993> a<00:38:57.138> better<00:38:57.378> way<00:38:57.603> to<00:38:57.699> do<00:38:57.940> things,<00:38:58.261> and<00:38:58.357> sometimes<00:38:58.903> there's<00:38:59.208> not.

00:39:00.187 --> 00:39:19.343
And<00:39:00.492> one<00:39:00.652> of<00:39:00.733> those<00:39:01.054> things<00:39:01.375> that's<00:39:02.354> you<00:39:02.498> have<00:39:02.755> to<00:39:02.835> do<00:39:03.060> all<00:39:03.156> the<00:39:03.301> time<00:39:03.654> is<00:39:03.862> to,<00:39:04.520> to,<00:39:04.665> you<00:39:05.162> know,<00:39:05.949> keep<00:39:06.510> your<00:39:06.928> employees<00:39:07.955> motivated<00:39:08.597> if<00:39:08.757> you're<00:39:09.158> a<00:39:09.239> leader<00:39:09.576> in<00:39:09.720> business,<00:39:10.202> or<00:39:10.298> even<00:39:10.555> if<00:39:10.763> you're<00:39:11.004> just<00:39:11.261> a<00:39:11.727> at<00:39:11.823> a<00:39:12.064> line<00:39:12.385> manager<00:39:12.867> level,<00:39:13.815> uh,<00:39:14.313> keeping<00:39:14.619> your<00:39:14.699> employees<00:39:15.679> up<00:39:15.824> to<00:39:15.920> date,<00:39:16.242> keeping<00:39:16.627> them<00:39:16.788> happy,<00:39:17.125> taking<00:39:17.511> care<00:39:17.688> of<00:39:17.832> them<00:39:18.330> the<00:39:18.491> best<00:39:18.796> that<00:39:18.957> you<00:39:19.118> can.

00:39:19.857 --> 00:39:22.395
That<00:39:20.580> absolutely<00:39:21.239> applies<00:39:21.640> to<00:39:21.849> your<00:39:22.010> family.

00:39:22.829 --> 00:39:34.783
And,<00:39:23.151> and<00:39:23.295> I<00:39:23.456> think<00:39:24.018> the<00:39:24.115> family<00:39:24.597> units,<00:39:25.802> whatever<00:39:26.187> those<00:39:26.525> may<00:39:26.766> be<00:39:27.007> in<00:39:27.248> today's<00:39:27.730> demographics,<00:39:29.015> I<00:39:29.096> think<00:39:29.256> those<00:39:29.561> have<00:39:29.738> to<00:39:29.883> be<00:39:30.140> kept<00:39:30.381> together<00:39:30.927> and<00:39:31.008> they<00:39:31.168> have<00:39:31.361> to<00:39:31.506> be<00:39:31.731> reminded<00:39:32.711> that<00:39:32.952> there<00:39:33.128> is,<00:39:33.578> you<00:39:33.610> know,<00:39:33.835> light<00:39:34.076> at<00:39:34.221> the<00:39:34.317> end<00:39:34.366> of<00:39:34.478> the<00:39:34.510> tunnel.

00:39:34.864 --> 00:39:37.595
There's<00:39:35.137> a<00:39:35.362> way<00:39:36.165> to<00:39:36.647> be<00:39:36.824> successful.

00:39:38.318 --> 00:39:40.792
And<00:39:38.415> I<00:39:38.559> think<00:39:38.736> that's<00:39:39.041> the<00:39:39.122> way<00:39:39.700> I<00:39:39.780> try<00:39:40.021> to<00:39:40.166> look<00:39:40.343> at<00:39:40.487> things.

00:39:41.949 --> 00:39:46.062
John,<00:39:42.190> I<00:39:42.271> can't<00:39:42.656> thank<00:39:42.897> you<00:39:42.929> enough<00:39:43.138> for<00:39:43.475> joining<00:39:43.781> us<00:39:44.102> and<00:39:44.279> sharing<00:39:44.664> your<00:39:44.761> expertise<00:39:45.259> and<00:39:45.339> experience<00:39:45.885> here.

00:39:46.383 --> 00:39:49.163
Seriously,<00:39:46.689> I<00:39:46.769> could<00:39:46.914> probably<00:39:47.155> talk<00:39:47.331> to<00:39:47.396> you<00:39:47.492> for<00:39:47.637> like<00:39:47.797> another<00:39:48.135> 3<00:39:48.376> hours<00:39:48.761> on<00:39:48.922> this.

00:39:49.886 --> 00:39:53.404
We<00:39:50.063> end<00:39:50.223> every<00:39:51.107> CEO<00:39:51.830> interview<00:39:52.135> the<00:39:52.216> same<00:39:52.457> way<00:39:52.617> with<00:39:52.698> the<00:39:52.778> same<00:39:53.019> question.

00:39:53.453 --> 00:39:55.316
I'm<00:39:53.597> super<00:39:53.838> fascinated<00:39:54.384> how<00:39:54.545> you're<00:39:54.706> going<00:39:54.770> to<00:39:54.802> answer<00:39:55.188> it.

00:39:55.766 --> 00:40:01.839
At<00:39:55.911> CEO.com,<00:39:57.212> we<00:39:57.453> believe<00:39:58.337> the<00:39:58.497> chances<00:39:58.963> one<00:39:59.204> gives<00:39:59.638> are<00:39:59.767> just<00:39:59.959> as<00:40:00.024> important<00:40:00.425> as<00:40:00.570> the<00:40:00.650> chances<00:40:01.132> one<00:40:01.373> takes.

00:40:02.514 --> 00:40:10.010
And<00:40:02.594> I<00:40:02.739> wonder<00:40:03.060> when<00:40:03.237> you<00:40:03.398> hear<00:40:03.783> that,<00:40:04.749> who<00:40:05.169> comes<00:40:05.475> to<00:40:05.540> mind<00:40:05.879> that<00:40:05.976> gave<00:40:06.298> you<00:40:06.460> a<00:40:06.541> chance<00:40:07.251> in<00:40:07.331> your<00:40:07.573> career,<00:40:08.074> in<00:40:08.219> your<00:40:08.477> life<00:40:08.961> to<00:40:09.042> get<00:40:09.203> you<00:40:09.300> to<00:40:09.365> where<00:40:09.526> you<00:40:09.688> are<00:40:09.784> today?

00:40:11.410 --> 00:40:14.845
Yeah,<00:40:11.606> that<00:40:12.669> list<00:40:12.980> is<00:40:13.160> very<00:40:13.553> long<00:40:14.142> and<00:40:14.207> extensive.

00:40:16.864 --> 00:40:20.028
You<00:40:16.929> know,<00:40:17.171> you<00:40:17.203> never<00:40:17.816> get<00:40:18.059> to<00:40:18.236> a<00:40:18.317> position<00:40:18.947> where<00:40:19.108> you're<00:40:19.286> a<00:40:19.382> CEO.

00:40:20.658 --> 00:40:28.094
I've<00:40:20.819> been<00:40:21.045> a<00:40:21.061> CEO<00:40:23.063> or<00:40:23.467> a<00:40:23.564> leader<00:40:23.887> within<00:40:24.936> either<00:40:25.420> an<00:40:25.566> organizational<00:40:26.214> structure<00:40:27.122> of<00:40:27.429> whatever<00:40:27.770> type.

00:40:28.337 --> 00:40:30.168
You<00:40:28.823> never<00:40:29.212> get<00:40:29.455> there<00:40:29.634> by<00:40:29.860> yourself.

00:40:30.656 --> 00:40:46.824
I<00:40:30.689> mean,<00:40:30.978> you<00:40:31.218> always<00:40:31.636> have<00:40:31.877> somebody<00:40:32.423> that<00:40:33.225> is,<00:40:33.643> is<00:40:34.349> A,<00:40:34.526> supporting<00:40:35.168> you,<00:40:36.035> um,<00:40:36.517> and<00:40:36.693> B,<00:40:37.095> there's<00:40:37.560> always<00:40:37.897> that<00:40:38.877> individual<00:40:39.728> or<00:40:39.904> two<00:40:40.868> that<00:40:41.189> have,<00:40:42.216> you<00:40:42.249> know,<00:40:43.983> put<00:40:44.143> their<00:40:44.304> hand<00:40:44.625> out,<00:40:44.962> mentored<00:40:45.508> you,<00:40:46.262> et<00:40:46.487> cetera.

00:40:47.515 --> 00:40:58.766
Um,<00:40:47.916> and,<00:40:48.173> and<00:40:48.318> I,<00:40:48.655> I<00:40:48.671> know<00:40:48.879> we're<00:40:48.976> getting<00:40:49.297> close<00:40:49.490> to<00:40:49.698> time,<00:40:50.019> but,<00:40:50.806> you<00:40:50.838> know,<00:40:51.529> I,<00:40:52.364> I,<00:40:52.524> I<00:40:52.588> found<00:40:52.829> this<00:40:53.455> whole<00:40:53.712> subject<00:40:54.274> fascinating<00:40:54.997> about,<00:40:55.944> you<00:40:56.040> know,<00:40:56.762> Who<00:40:56.906> would<00:40:57.067> I,<00:40:57.788> who,<00:40:58.045> who<00:40:58.189> has<00:40:58.365> helped<00:40:58.686> me?

00:40:58.926 --> 00:41:20.569
And,<00:40:59.167> and<00:40:59.247> so<00:40:59.488> I<00:40:59.632> wrote<00:40:59.744> a<00:40:59.872> book<00:41:00.065> about<00:41:00.369> it<00:41:00.690> and,<00:41:01.395> and<00:41:01.476> I<00:41:01.572> talk<00:41:01.908> about,<00:41:03.239> you<00:41:04.153> know,<00:41:04.602> all<00:41:04.858> the<00:41:05.083> things<00:41:05.419> that<00:41:05.884> happened<00:41:06.365> over<00:41:06.622> my<00:41:06.926> career,<00:41:08.610> the<00:41:09.026> mistakes<00:41:09.572> that<00:41:09.732> I<00:41:09.908> made<00:41:10.453> as,<00:41:10.790> as<00:41:10.950> an<00:41:11.046> individual<00:41:11.992> in,<00:41:12.313> in,<00:41:12.714> in<00:41:12.874> decisions<00:41:13.515> that<00:41:13.916> might<00:41:14.221> not<00:41:14.317> have<00:41:14.461> been<00:41:14.557> the<00:41:14.702> right<00:41:14.862> decisions<00:41:15.920> at<00:41:16.064> the<00:41:16.161> time,<00:41:16.481> but<00:41:16.706> also<00:41:17.844> the<00:41:17.988> people<00:41:18.405> that<00:41:19.191> guided<00:41:19.672> me<00:41:19.848> along<00:41:20.249> the<00:41:20.409> way.

00:41:21.435 --> 00:41:28.537
And<00:41:21.836> we<00:41:21.996> really<00:41:22.189> didn't<00:41:22.493> have<00:41:22.894> mentors<00:41:23.455> in<00:41:23.680> my<00:41:24.080> early<00:41:24.577> part<00:41:24.818> of<00:41:24.898> my<00:41:25.122> career<00:41:25.603> was,<00:41:26.004> you<00:41:26.084> know,<00:41:26.245> you<00:41:26.341> were,<00:41:26.902> you<00:41:26.966> are<00:41:27.287> out<00:41:27.463> there<00:41:27.784> facing<00:41:28.168> your<00:41:28.329> own.

00:41:28.585 --> 00:41:32.529
Certainly<00:41:28.922> cybersecurity<00:41:30.573> is,<00:41:30.974> is<00:41:31.134> a<00:41:31.230> very<00:41:31.631> young<00:41:32.032> profession.

00:41:33.330 --> 00:41:37.963
So<00:41:33.555> we<00:41:33.635> didn't<00:41:33.859> have<00:41:34.116> a<00:41:34.196> lot<00:41:34.372> of—<00:41:34.436> we<00:41:34.837> were<00:41:35.302> all,<00:41:36.264> you<00:41:36.296> know,<00:41:37.162> of<00:41:37.322> my<00:41:37.643> age.

00:41:38.845 --> 00:41:41.538
We<00:41:38.989> were<00:41:39.150> all<00:41:39.406> trying<00:41:39.646> to<00:41:39.791> figure<00:41:40.031> out<00:41:40.111> our<00:41:40.288> own<00:41:40.512> ways<00:41:40.929> at<00:41:41.073> the<00:41:41.153> time.

00:41:41.586 --> 00:41:43.702
So<00:41:42.452> mentorship<00:41:43.029> is<00:41:43.189> important.

00:41:44.055 --> 00:41:45.578
And<00:41:44.215> so<00:41:44.440> giving<00:41:44.776> back<00:41:45.097> is<00:41:45.177> important.

00:41:45.979 --> 00:41:55.136
But<00:41:46.844> I<00:41:47.261> think,<00:41:47.662> you<00:41:47.726> know,<00:41:48.063> a<00:41:48.207> couple<00:41:49.425> of<00:41:49.586> folks<00:41:49.986> along<00:41:50.371> the<00:41:50.467> way<00:41:50.692> have<00:41:51.830> given<00:41:52.151> me<00:41:52.937> you<00:41:52.969> know,<00:41:53.418> uh,<00:41:53.916> extreme<00:41:54.318> amount<00:41:54.639> of<00:41:54.719> guidance.

00:41:55.827 --> 00:41:57.978
I'm<00:41:55.875> not<00:41:56.084> gonna<00:41:56.244> name<00:41:56.549> those,<00:41:56.871> uh,<00:41:57.288> during<00:41:57.529> this<00:41:57.754> call.

00:42:00.901 --> 00:42:10.310
And,<00:42:01.206> uh,<00:42:01.623> and<00:42:01.768> I<00:42:01.864> think,<00:42:02.330> uh,<00:42:02.587> I<00:42:02.731> think<00:42:03.293> I<00:42:03.390> encourage<00:42:03.871> everybody<00:42:04.337> to<00:42:04.385> do—<00:42:04.658> the<00:42:04.738> title<00:42:04.915> of<00:42:04.995> that<00:42:05.236> book<00:42:05.541> is<00:42:06.360> From<00:42:06.665> Private<00:42:07.163> to<00:42:07.725> CEO<00:42:09.009> and<00:42:09.106> Some<00:42:09.330> Stuff<00:42:09.652> in<00:42:09.812> Between.
