# What Elise Smith said a year before she sold Praxis Labs

In July 2025, Praxis Labs was [acquired by Torch](https://torch.io/newsroom/torch-acquires-ai-learning-company-praxis-labs-to-redefine-coaching-as-a-catalyst-for-organizational-change/?ref=ceo.com), a leadership coaching platform whose customers include [Reddit, HP, and Stripe](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/torch-acquires-ai-learning-company-praxis-labs-to-redefine-coaching-as-a-catalyst-for-organizational-change-302500406.html?ref=ceo.com). Terms were [not disclosed](https://techcrunch.com/2025/07/11/ai-leadership-development-platform-praxis-labs-sells-to-torch/?ref=ceo.com). Elise Smith, the co-founder and CEO, became Torch's Head of AI Growth. Her co-founder Heather Shen became Head of AI Product. Everyone else came with them.

Smith gave TechCrunch a plain reason. Praxis had [fewer than 20 people](https://techcrunch.com/2025/07/11/ai-leadership-development-platform-praxis-labs-sells-to-torch/?ref=ceo.com) and was serving Amazon. To reach more companies, it needed partners across product and sales that it could not build on its own.

None of this had happened yet when Smith sat down with the CEO.com Podcast. She was still running the company. But listen to the conversation now, and the sale is already in it.

Praxis worked with middle managers at Fortune 1000 companies. Smith described the customer this way: a company with 5,000 people managers, each of whom needs to get better at giving feedback, having hard conversations, and handling a team member who posts something divisive in Slack. The product had started as virtual reality simulations that let employees experience workplace bias from a perspective other than their own. By 2024, it had moved to generative AI. A manager practices giving feedback to an AI character. An AI coach interrupts to note what got skipped. The platform scores the manager on specific skills and rolls the results up so the company can see patterns across thousands of people.

That is a lot of product for a team the size of a large dinner party. It is also, in Smith's telling, the only version of corporate training that works.

She came to that conclusion as an investor. After several years at IBM building early Watson for Education products, she joined [NewSchools Venture Fund](https://www.forbes.com/sites/pauleannareid/2021/02/22/elise-smith-ceo-of-praxis-labs-raises-32-million-in-venture-capital-to-help-bring-forth-more-conscious-leaders-using-virtual-reality/?ref=ceo.com), a philanthropic fund, and was asked to add up the impact of a portfolio of leadership development companies. She couldn't. "A lot of the learning solutions we were providing in enterprises weren't always research backed," she told the CEO.com Podcast. "They weren't always using learning science or behavioral economics. It meant a lot of them were one and done, not continuous and reinforced, which is how we learn best. It meant that a lot of them were awareness-based learning experiences, not practice or experiential-based learning moments. And it all meant we couldn't measure beyond how many people went through a learning training and how valuable they thought it was on a scale of one to five."

She left for Stanford, took an MBA and a master's in education at the same time, and met Shen, who was finishing a degree in electrical engineering, over coffee. Their second conversation was about what a company should feel like. They did not have one yet.

The motivation underneath it all is older than IBM. Smith's parents came up through the Chicago public school system, and she describes her career as an attempt to make sure other people don't need their luck. "For me, I've really focused on how you scale access and opportunity so that luck isn't the main contributing factor to the outcome," she said.

That word again. Scale.

Praxis raised a [$3.2 million seed round](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20210222005440/en/Praxis-Labs-Launches-Virtual-Reality-Based-Diversity-and-Inclusion-Learning-Platform?ref=ceo.com) in February 2021, which by the company's own count, citing digitalundivided's ProjectDiane, made Smith one of 93 Black women in the country to have raised more than $1 million for a venture-backed business. Eight months later, it closed a [$15.5 million Series A](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/praxis-labs-raises-15-5m-in-oversubscribed-series-a-led-by-norwest-venture-partners-and-emerson-collective-301402756.html?ref=ceo.com) co-led by Norwest Venture Partners and Emerson Collective, with Precursor, Ulu, and Steph Curry's Penny Jar Capital in the round. By early 2025, the total stood at about [$23 million](https://time.com/collections/closers-2025/7210609/elise-smith-ceo-dei-good-business/?ref=ceo.com). When Inc. profiled her in 2023, the headline was that she [didn't want to talk about it](https://www.inc.com/alyssa-khan/elise-smith-praxis-labs-black-women-tech-doesnt-want-talk-about-funding.html?ref=ceo.com).

What she does want to talk about is what you owe once you have access. Her example was not a foundation or a pledge. It was LinkedIn. Most people, she said, help the people they already share a connection with: the classmate, the friend of a friend, the founder with the same investor. She answers the ones with zero shared connections. "I'm not sure if you have access to this world that I do, and I want to share that. Because that person can then share it with their network, and hopefully more people will have access."

The interview was recorded during the 2024 election, when diversity, equity, and inclusion had become a campaign issue and Praxis, a company that had spent five years selling DEI training to Fortune 500 companies, was directly in the line of fire. Smith's read was that the fight was over the acronym. "I think there would be fewer attacks on the goals and outcomes of diversity, equity, and inclusion work," she said. "Whether it's called inclusive cultures, whether it's called cultures that work for all, I care less about the language we're using and more about ensuring that there are equitable outcomes."

She said the same thing to TIME in [February 2025](https://time.com/collections/closers-2025/7210609/elise-smith-ceo-dei-good-business/?ref=ceo.com), two weeks into a new administration that had made DEI a target, arguing that multinationals with diverse customers will keep doing the work regardless of the term. By the time of the sale, the DEI framing was gone from the company's own description. Torch's [announcement](https://torch.io/newsroom/torch-acquires-ai-learning-company-praxis-labs-to-redefine-coaching-as-a-catalyst-for-organizational-change/?ref=ceo.com) calls Praxis an AI learning platform that builds "critical human skills." The word inclusive appears once, in the boilerplate at the bottom.

Smith runs her days tightly. Early morning, The Daily, coffee, meditation, a gratitude journal, a walk with her husband and their dog, Scott. There are no social media apps on her phone. She goes to therapy, and she and Shen do executive coaching together, which she calls couples therapy for co-founders. Asked what makes a leader, she gave three answers, and the first was the one she said she learned the hard way: know your own values before you read a management book, because the book will tell you to do something that doesn't feel right, and you'll do it anyway.

The CEO.com Podcast ends every episode with the same question. The chances one gives are just as important as the chances one takes. Who gave you a chance?

Smith went back to fourth grade. She was good at math, then failed a test on a concept she hadn't understood. Her teacher, Mr. Sweeney, called her in and asked what happened. She didn't know. He told her she was a strong math student, that he wanted her to know that about herself, and that she would retake the test.

She did. Twenty-some years later, she built a company around the idea that one intervention, delivered at the right moment, can change what a person believes about themselves. Then she sold it to reach more of them.

00:00:09.724 --> 00:00:11.423
Elise,<00:00:10.029> thank<00:00:10.189> you<00:00:10.269> so<00:00:10.445> much<00:00:10.670> for<00:00:10.766> coming<00:00:10.990> on<00:00:11.070> the<00:00:11.150> show.

00:00:11.567 --> 00:00:12.784
It<00:00:11.727> means<00:00:11.903> a<00:00:11.951> lot<00:00:12.063> to<00:00:12.272> have<00:00:12.384> you<00:00:12.608> here.

00:00:12.929 --> 00:00:15.300
You<00:00:13.025> are<00:00:13.169> the<00:00:13.249> CEO<00:00:13.730> of<00:00:13.970> Praxis<00:00:14.707> Labs.

00:00:15.844 --> 00:00:20.474
Can<00:00:16.373> you<00:00:16.533> tell<00:00:16.774> me<00:00:18.039> how<00:00:18.280> you<00:00:18.376> became<00:00:18.776> the<00:00:18.856> CEO<00:00:19.417> and<00:00:19.561> co-founder<00:00:19.994> of<00:00:20.122> Praxis<00:00:20.330> Labs?

00:00:20.539 --> 00:00:21.420
Let's<00:00:21.083> start<00:00:21.324> there.

00:00:22.365 --> 00:00:24.111
Oh,<00:00:22.605> I<00:00:22.765> love<00:00:22.942> starting<00:00:23.326> there<00:00:23.422> at<00:00:23.518> the<00:00:23.647> beginning.

00:00:25.040 --> 00:00:29.927
So<00:00:25.265> yeah,<00:00:26.050> at<00:00:26.130> the<00:00:26.226> highest<00:00:26.530> level,<00:00:26.867> I<00:00:26.883> mean,<00:00:27.107> Praxis<00:00:27.572> Labs<00:00:27.812> is<00:00:27.908> an<00:00:28.052> immersive<00:00:28.533> learning<00:00:28.950> and<00:00:29.110> development<00:00:29.574> company.

00:00:30.360 --> 00:00:39.893
We're<00:00:30.472> focused<00:00:30.857> on<00:00:30.953> building<00:00:31.274> the<00:00:31.435> critical<00:00:31.836> human<00:00:32.141> skills<00:00:32.494> needed<00:00:33.361> for<00:00:33.762> the<00:00:33.858> modern<00:00:34.243> diverse<00:00:34.725> global<00:00:35.046> workforce,<00:00:35.881> giving<00:00:36.250> feedback,<00:00:36.827> navigating<00:00:37.277> difficult<00:00:37.614> conversations,<00:00:38.882> all<00:00:39.058> of<00:00:39.139> those<00:00:39.363> great<00:00:39.604> things.

00:00:39.941 --> 00:00:46.939
And<00:00:40.086> we<00:00:40.246> use<00:00:40.760> simulations<00:00:41.466> and<00:00:41.546> GenAI<00:00:42.653> at<00:00:42.750> scale<00:00:43.071> to<00:00:43.215> do<00:00:43.376> that<00:00:43.552> with<00:00:43.713> clients<00:00:44.114> like<00:00:44.820> in<00:00:44.997> the<00:00:45.077> Fortune<00:00:45.478> 5000.

00:00:47.484 --> 00:00:52.267
But<00:00:47.950> my<00:00:48.126> journey<00:00:48.528> to<00:00:48.608> Practice<00:00:48.913> Labs,<00:00:49.089> I<00:00:49.105> mean,<00:00:49.218> it's<00:00:49.410> personal,<00:00:49.972> and<00:00:50.116> I<00:00:50.277> think<00:00:50.454> that's<00:00:50.694> probably<00:00:51.096> true<00:00:51.336> for<00:00:51.481> a<00:00:51.497> lot<00:00:51.721> of<00:00:51.818> founders.

00:00:53.021 --> 00:00:55.878
Very<00:00:53.198> much<00:00:53.487> inspired<00:00:53.904> by<00:00:54.065> my<00:00:54.386> family<00:00:54.867> and<00:00:55.012> my<00:00:55.108> parents'<00:00:55.429> story.

00:00:56.456 --> 00:01:01.700
In<00:00:56.632> navigating<00:00:57.129> systems<00:00:57.675> and<00:00:57.771> structures<00:00:58.268> not<00:00:58.412> set<00:00:58.717> up<00:00:58.941> for<00:00:59.038> them<00:00:59.342> in<00:01:00.240> Chicago<00:01:00.866> education<00:01:01.363> system.

00:01:01.764 --> 00:01:11.513
And<00:01:01.908> so<00:01:02.084> for<00:01:02.261> me,<00:01:03.191> I've<00:01:03.287> really<00:01:03.512> focused<00:01:03.832> on<00:01:03.913> how<00:01:04.025> do<00:01:04.153> you<00:01:04.185> scale<00:01:04.650> access,<00:01:05.131> how<00:01:05.227> do<00:01:05.356> you<00:01:05.388> scale<00:01:05.853> opportunity<00:01:07.072> so<00:01:07.216> that<00:01:07.456> luck<00:01:07.841> isn't<00:01:08.803> the<00:01:08.884> main<00:01:09.060> contributing<00:01:09.525> factor<00:01:09.717> to<00:01:09.862> outcomes.

00:01:12.411 --> 00:01:14.079
I—<00:01:12.844> scale<00:01:13.149> brought<00:01:13.325> me<00:01:13.422> to<00:01:13.470> technology.

00:01:14.512 --> 00:01:20.429
I<00:01:14.576> ended<00:01:14.753> up<00:01:14.897> at<00:01:15.057> IBM<00:01:16.019> and<00:01:16.116> they<00:01:16.436> had<00:01:16.757> announced<00:01:17.078> this<00:01:17.302> cool<00:01:17.559> thing<00:01:17.719> they<00:01:17.864> were<00:01:17.944> calling<00:01:18.264> Watson<00:01:18.762> that<00:01:19.563> was<00:01:19.724> playing<00:01:20.044> chess.

00:01:20.991 --> 00:01:27.040
And<00:01:21.311> I<00:01:21.327> saw<00:01:21.568> the<00:01:21.648> applicability<00:01:22.450> to<00:01:22.594> how<00:01:23.220> how<00:01:23.332> could<00:01:23.492> you<00:01:23.717> use<00:01:24.279> machine<00:01:24.600> learning<00:01:24.937> and<00:01:25.081> AI<00:01:25.258> technology<00:01:26.446> but<00:01:26.542> for<00:01:26.703> learning?

00:01:27.104 --> 00:01:30.828
How<00:01:27.264> could<00:01:27.425> you<00:01:27.650> use<00:01:27.842> it<00:01:28.051> to<00:01:28.773> both<00:01:29.174> personalize<00:01:29.672> and<00:01:29.752> measure<00:01:30.057> learning<00:01:30.234> experiences?

00:01:30.876 --> 00:01:38.644
And<00:01:30.972> so<00:01:31.149> I<00:01:31.197> ended<00:01:31.421> up<00:01:31.502> spending<00:01:32.320> a<00:01:32.385> handful<00:01:32.657> of<00:01:32.786> years<00:01:33.107> at<00:01:33.187> IBM<00:01:34.166> before<00:01:34.407> the<00:01:34.471> Watson<00:01:34.712> Group<00:01:34.888> was<00:01:35.049> announced,<00:01:35.450> building<00:01:35.691> out<00:01:35.787> some<00:01:35.868> of<00:01:35.932> the<00:01:36.012> first<00:01:36.253> generation<00:01:37.296> of<00:01:37.376> Watson<00:01:37.681> for<00:01:37.778> Education<00:01:38.243> products.

00:01:39.704 --> 00:01:40.779
Love<00:01:39.944> the<00:01:40.025> innovation<00:01:40.490> of<00:01:40.570> that.

00:01:41.148 --> 00:01:44.278
Took<00:01:41.534> all<00:01:41.694> of<00:01:41.726> those<00:01:41.951> things<00:01:42.111> that<00:01:42.256> I<00:01:42.336> learned<00:01:42.593> there,<00:01:42.914> I've<00:01:43.074> applied<00:01:43.476> them<00:01:43.700> at<00:01:43.797> Praxis.

00:01:44.423 --> 00:01:55.932
But<00:01:44.599> I<00:01:44.760> think<00:01:45.466> another<00:01:46.991> piece<00:01:47.328> of<00:01:47.424> the<00:01:47.553> journey<00:01:47.970> that<00:01:48.130> led<00:01:48.291> me<00:01:48.387> to<00:01:48.516> Praxis<00:01:48.997> was<00:01:49.495> the<00:01:50.121> role<00:01:50.297> I<00:01:50.442> did<00:01:50.602> after,<00:01:50.939> which<00:01:51.164> was<00:01:51.806> I<00:01:52.143> was<00:01:52.368> an<00:01:52.545> investor<00:01:53.171> at<00:01:53.267> a<00:01:53.283> philanthropic<00:01:53.973> fund<00:01:54.632> investing<00:01:55.049> in<00:01:55.177> innovation<00:01:55.659> and<00:01:55.739> learning.

00:01:55.996 --> 00:01:59.368
Again,<00:01:56.382> every<00:01:56.719> through<00:01:56.959> line<00:01:57.264> has<00:01:57.425> had<00:01:57.666> learning<00:01:58.019> and<00:01:58.099> education<00:01:58.709> at<00:01:58.790> its<00:01:58.870> core.

00:01:59.913 --> 00:02:05.356
And<00:02:00.556> I<00:02:00.572> was<00:02:00.668> in<00:02:00.732> a<00:02:00.812> portfolio<00:02:01.695> investing<00:02:02.161> in<00:02:02.257> leadership<00:02:02.578> development<00:02:03.204> platforms<00:02:04.007> and<00:02:04.104> vendors<00:02:04.505> and<00:02:04.649> entrepreneurs.

00:02:05.934 --> 00:02:18.135
And<00:02:06.672> it<00:02:06.736> was<00:02:06.913> in<00:02:06.993> that<00:02:07.234> role<00:02:07.555> where<00:02:07.940> I<00:02:08.037> was<00:02:08.342> asked<00:02:08.663> to<00:02:09.321> ladder<00:02:09.706> up<00:02:09.947> the<00:02:10.044> impact<00:02:10.461> of<00:02:10.525> the<00:02:10.605> portfolio<00:02:11.312> year<00:02:11.488> over<00:02:11.649> year<00:02:11.826> that<00:02:11.954> I<00:02:12.516> realized<00:02:12.853> a<00:02:12.933> lot<00:02:13.270> of<00:02:13.415> the<00:02:13.511> learning<00:02:13.977> solutions<00:02:14.539> we<00:02:14.683> were<00:02:14.844> providing<00:02:15.727> in<00:02:15.823> enterprises<00:02:16.947> weren't<00:02:17.172> always<00:02:17.493> research-backed.

00:02:18.360 --> 00:02:21.026
They<00:02:18.536> weren't<00:02:18.857> always<00:02:19.050> using<00:02:19.339> learning<00:02:19.596> science<00:02:19.934> or<00:02:19.998> behavioral<00:02:20.464> economics.

00:02:21.427 --> 00:02:25.121
It<00:02:21.459> meant<00:02:21.604> a<00:02:21.620> lot<00:02:21.861> of<00:02:21.989> them<00:02:22.150> were<00:02:22.327> one<00:02:22.487> and<00:02:22.568> done,<00:02:22.953> not<00:02:23.130> continuous<00:02:23.612> and<00:02:23.692> reinforced,<00:02:24.254> which<00:02:24.431> is<00:02:24.495> how<00:02:24.656> we<00:02:24.736> learn<00:02:24.961> best.

00:02:25.780 --> 00:02:32.381
It<00:02:25.860> meant<00:02:26.021> that<00:02:26.165> a<00:02:26.181> lot<00:02:26.358> of<00:02:26.438> them<00:02:26.647> were<00:02:26.888> awareness-based<00:02:27.771> learning<00:02:28.012> experiences,<00:02:28.655> not<00:02:28.831> practice<00:02:29.940> or<00:02:30.020> experiential-based<00:02:30.919> learning,<00:02:31.787> learning<00:02:32.028> moments.

00:02:32.445 --> 00:02:46.900
And<00:02:32.991> it<00:02:33.072> all<00:02:33.553> meant<00:02:33.810> we<00:02:33.955> couldn't<00:02:34.437> measure<00:02:34.694> beyond<00:02:35.481> how<00:02:35.593> many<00:02:35.818> people<00:02:36.139> went<00:02:36.380> through<00:02:36.557> a<00:02:36.701> learning<00:02:37.264> training<00:02:39.095> and<00:02:39.175> how<00:02:39.352> valuable<00:02:39.737> they<00:02:39.833> thought<00:02:40.010> it<00:02:40.058> was<00:02:40.235> on<00:02:40.299> a<00:02:40.315> scale<00:02:40.572> of<00:02:40.636> 1<00:02:40.781> to<00:02:40.861> 5,<00:02:41.520> when<00:02:41.825> really<00:02:42.162> what<00:02:42.323> we<00:02:42.467> wanted<00:02:42.757> to<00:02:42.805> know<00:02:43.126> was<00:02:43.849> what<00:02:44.154> attitudes,<00:02:44.555> mindsets,<00:02:44.893> and<00:02:45.053> behaviors<00:02:45.455> did<00:02:45.632> this<00:02:45.840> intervention<00:02:46.402> change?

00:02:47.190 --> 00:02:53.259
And<00:02:47.270> what<00:02:47.318> does<00:02:47.398> that<00:02:47.607> mean<00:02:47.848> for<00:02:47.944> the<00:02:48.105> organizational<00:02:49.052> outcomes<00:02:50.513> that<00:02:50.674> have<00:02:50.834> invested<00:02:51.798> in<00:02:51.878> this<00:02:52.039> type<00:02:52.279> of<00:02:52.360> training<00:02:52.681> for<00:02:52.745> their<00:02:52.841> people?

00:02:53.307 --> 00:03:01.159
And<00:02:53.403> so<00:02:54.270> it<00:02:54.463> was<00:02:54.608> also<00:02:54.849> at<00:02:54.929> that<00:02:55.170> fund<00:02:55.314> that<00:02:55.410> I<00:02:55.491> got<00:02:55.635> exposed<00:02:56.133> to<00:02:56.294> immersive<00:02:56.775> learning<00:02:57.257> out<00:02:57.402> of<00:02:57.498> the<00:02:57.578> lab<00:02:57.899> at<00:02:57.996> Stanford<00:02:59.087> and<00:02:59.505> immersive<00:03:00.003> experiences<00:03:00.549> more<00:03:00.773> broadly.

00:03:01.737 --> 00:03:24.027
And<00:03:01.978> I<00:03:02.074> just<00:03:02.251> saw<00:03:02.411> the<00:03:02.556> power<00:03:03.118> of<00:03:03.824> using<00:03:04.226> immersive<00:03:04.868> to<00:03:06.088> not<00:03:06.393> just<00:03:06.955> help<00:03:07.148> us<00:03:07.357> build<00:03:07.614> empathy<00:03:08.015> and<00:03:08.175> perspective<00:03:08.978> for<00:03:09.235> new<00:03:10.167> and<00:03:10.263> different<00:03:10.584> backgrounds<00:03:11.114> than<00:03:11.178> our<00:03:11.451> own,<00:03:12.816> but<00:03:12.912> to<00:03:12.992> help<00:03:13.169> us<00:03:13.457> practice<00:03:13.858> behaviors<00:03:14.355> in<00:03:14.420> a<00:03:14.452> safe<00:03:14.756> space<00:03:15.302> where<00:03:15.398> we<00:03:15.542> can<00:03:15.719> make<00:03:15.959> mistakes,<00:03:16.761> we<00:03:16.826> could<00:03:16.986> continue<00:03:17.419> learning,<00:03:17.724> where<00:03:17.868> we<00:03:18.349> could<00:03:18.526> measure<00:03:19.231> everything<00:03:19.713> in<00:03:19.889> an<00:03:20.049> immersive<00:03:20.450> environment<00:03:20.851> so<00:03:20.915> you<00:03:21.012> could<00:03:21.252> give<00:03:21.493> personalized<00:03:21.974> feedback,<00:03:22.760> you<00:03:22.840> could<00:03:22.952> see<00:03:23.097> trends<00:03:23.353> at<00:03:23.434> the<00:03:23.642> aggregate.

00:03:24.861 --> 00:03:30.443
And<00:03:25.166> I<00:03:25.487> was<00:03:25.583> lucky<00:03:25.807> enough<00:03:26.048> to<00:03:26.625> end<00:03:27.203> up<00:03:27.347> at<00:03:27.443> Stanford<00:03:27.892> where<00:03:28.053> I<00:03:28.133> was<00:03:28.293> and<00:03:28.630> did<00:03:28.791> my<00:03:29.031> MBA<00:03:29.336> and<00:03:29.448> Master's<00:03:29.817> of<00:03:29.849> Education.

00:03:30.956 --> 00:03:41.221
I<00:03:31.020> had<00:03:31.181> a<00:03:31.277> coffee<00:03:31.678> date<00:03:31.918> with<00:03:32.079> this<00:03:32.239> brilliant<00:03:32.624> woman<00:03:32.881> named<00:03:33.105> Heather<00:03:33.282> Shen,<00:03:33.907> who<00:03:34.084> was<00:03:34.244> wrapping<00:03:34.565> up<00:03:34.709> her<00:03:34.870> Master's<00:03:35.367> of<00:03:35.463> Electrical<00:03:35.832> Engineering,<00:03:36.890> and<00:03:37.917> we<00:03:38.478> bonded<00:03:38.879> over<00:03:39.056> the<00:03:39.136> belief<00:03:39.457> that<00:03:39.617> workplaces<00:03:40.178> could<00:03:40.323> work<00:03:40.499> better<00:03:40.660> for<00:03:40.884> everyone.

00:03:41.622 --> 00:03:43.834
That<00:03:41.718> products<00:03:42.103> and<00:03:42.199> services<00:03:42.744> could<00:03:42.904> better<00:03:43.129> serve<00:03:43.369> everyone.

00:03:45.293 --> 00:03:51.208
And<00:03:45.629> we've<00:03:45.790> been<00:03:45.934> on<00:03:45.966> the<00:03:46.046> journey<00:03:46.271> that's<00:03:46.431> PraxisLabs<00:03:46.928> since<00:03:47.297> that<00:03:47.697> coffee<00:03:47.938> date<00:03:48.050> was<00:03:48.355> with<00:03:48.499> Heather<00:03:48.675> Shen,<00:03:48.996> who's<00:03:49.220> my<00:03:49.477> co-founder<00:03:50.278> and<00:03:50.422> chief<00:03:50.599> product<00:03:50.839> officer.

00:03:52.506 --> 00:03:56.145
How<00:03:52.538> do<00:03:52.667> you<00:03:52.827> think<00:03:52.939> about<00:03:53.548> education<00:03:54.206> now,<00:03:55.151> particularly<00:03:55.552> as<00:03:55.648> it<00:03:55.712> relates<00:03:55.969> to<00:03:56.049> AI?

00:03:56.193 --> 00:04:00.153
I<00:03:56.370> mean,<00:03:56.851> you<00:03:56.995> went<00:03:57.155> to<00:03:57.235> Stanford,<00:03:57.636> you<00:03:57.716> have<00:03:57.892> a<00:03:58.277> master's<00:03:58.694> in<00:03:58.838> education<00:03:59.896> from<00:04:00.057> there.

00:04:00.217 --> 00:04:03.423
You<00:04:00.361> also<00:04:00.441> have<00:04:00.553> a<00:04:00.618> master's<00:04:01.082> in<00:04:02.140> business<00:04:02.461> administration<00:04:03.102> from<00:04:03.327> there.

00:04:03.519 --> 00:04:16.563
So<00:04:05.106> how<00:04:05.202> do<00:04:05.330> you<00:04:05.491> think<00:04:05.763> about<00:04:06.052> education<00:04:06.853> and<00:04:07.190> in<00:04:07.334> particular<00:04:07.895> how<00:04:08.007> it<00:04:08.136> applies<00:04:08.472> to<00:04:08.553> what<00:04:08.633> you're<00:04:08.793> doing<00:04:09.114> now<00:04:09.675> in<00:04:09.819> making<00:04:10.139> sure<00:04:10.460> that<00:04:10.861> we're<00:04:11.021> preparing<00:04:11.999> the<00:04:12.079> next<00:04:12.400> generation<00:04:13.121> to<00:04:14.323> a<00:04:14.484> workforce<00:04:15.306> with<00:04:15.467> the<00:04:15.547> skills<00:04:16.015> that<00:04:16.112> they<00:04:16.208> need?

00:04:18.126 --> 00:04:19.061
Yeah,<00:04:18.513> absolutely.

00:04:19.963 --> 00:04:25.753
You<00:04:19.996> know,<00:04:21.092> we<00:04:21.349> work<00:04:21.672> predominantly<00:04:22.478> with<00:04:22.881> a<00:04:23.010> middle<00:04:23.122> manager<00:04:23.526> population<00:04:24.494> in<00:04:24.575> a<00:04:24.656> Fortune<00:04:25.043> 1000<00:04:25.447> company.

00:04:25.802 --> 00:04:31.193
So,<00:04:26.819> Company<00:04:27.222> A<00:04:27.335> might<00:04:27.561> have<00:04:27.803> 5,000<00:04:28.917> people<00:04:29.337> who<00:04:29.417> are<00:04:29.579> people<00:04:29.918> managers<00:04:30.612> every<00:04:30.951> day.

00:04:31.741 --> 00:04:43.691
And<00:04:32.210> when<00:04:32.631> we<00:04:33.942> think<00:04:34.185> about<00:04:34.526> how<00:04:34.914> do<00:04:35.141> you<00:04:35.416> meet<00:04:35.805> a<00:04:35.886> learner<00:04:36.437> and<00:04:36.615> transform<00:04:37.846> and<00:04:37.911> help<00:04:38.153> them<00:04:38.380> develop<00:04:38.963> and<00:04:39.109> become<00:04:39.530> better<00:04:39.838> leaders,<00:04:41.058> It<00:04:41.154> starts<00:04:41.620> by<00:04:41.876> meeting<00:04:42.117> them<00:04:42.294> at<00:04:42.422> a<00:04:42.519> point<00:04:42.824> that's<00:04:43.000> relevant<00:04:43.466> to<00:04:43.627> them.

00:04:43.819 --> 00:04:52.795
So<00:04:44.108> oftentimes,<00:04:45.489> to<00:04:45.553> your,<00:04:45.907> to<00:04:46.051> your<00:04:46.196> point,<00:04:46.437> it's<00:04:46.549> a<00:04:46.613> new<00:04:46.854> manager<00:04:47.336> or<00:04:47.416> someone<00:04:47.817> entering<00:04:48.235> an<00:04:48.379> organization<00:04:49.102> or<00:04:49.182> someone<00:04:49.407> who<00:04:49.824> just<00:04:49.985> got<00:04:50.226> promoted<00:04:50.724> or<00:04:51.189> right<00:04:51.414> before<00:04:51.767> performance<00:04:52.394> review.

00:04:53.196 --> 00:05:04.131
If<00:04:53.277> you<00:04:53.421> can<00:04:53.662> meet<00:04:53.919> a<00:04:53.999> learner<00:04:54.802> in<00:04:54.898> a<00:04:54.963> moment<00:04:55.348> where<00:04:55.525> they<00:04:55.765> are<00:04:57.275> really<00:04:57.756> eager<00:04:58.254> to<00:04:58.495> be<00:04:59.442> better,<00:05:00.085> really<00:05:00.486> eager<00:05:00.743> to<00:05:00.904> learn,<00:05:01.385> you're<00:05:01.690> going<00:05:01.771> to<00:05:01.851> have<00:05:02.188> a<00:05:02.333> lot<00:05:02.445> more<00:05:02.734> impact<00:05:03.216> on<00:05:03.312> behavior<00:05:03.778> change.

00:05:06.346 --> 00:05:14.819
And<00:05:06.988> one<00:05:07.101> of<00:05:07.229> the<00:05:07.389> things<00:05:07.710> that<00:05:08.128> we've<00:05:08.352> found<00:05:09.235> is<00:05:09.331> that<00:05:10.053> generative<00:05:11.321> AI<00:05:11.722> has<00:05:11.963> unlocked<00:05:12.604> a<00:05:12.685> realm<00:05:12.941> of<00:05:13.022> possibility<00:05:13.744> and<00:05:13.824> opportunity<00:05:14.530> for<00:05:14.626> us.

00:05:15.268 --> 00:05:29.036
So<00:05:15.493> everything<00:05:16.151> from<00:05:17.113> how<00:05:17.499> you<00:05:17.659> can<00:05:18.076> personalize<00:05:18.959> when<00:05:19.103> you<00:05:19.199> first<00:05:19.520> meet<00:05:19.665> that<00:05:19.841> learner<00:05:20.226> to<00:05:21.109> a<00:05:21.366> lot<00:05:21.590> of<00:05:21.622> our<00:05:21.783> newer<00:05:22.104> simulations<00:05:22.874> are<00:05:23.034> actually<00:05:23.371> generative,<00:05:23.933> where<00:05:24.077> you're<00:05:24.655> interacting<00:05:25.233> and<00:05:25.457> practicing<00:05:26.163> how<00:05:26.324> you<00:05:26.420> might<00:05:26.645> give<00:05:26.821> feedback<00:05:27.239> to<00:05:27.319> someone<00:05:27.945> with<00:05:28.041> a<00:05:28.105> GenAI<00:05:28.586> character.

00:05:29.469 --> 00:05:36.494
That<00:05:29.629> GenAI<00:05:30.528> is<00:05:30.672> then<00:05:30.913> also<00:05:31.154> giving<00:05:31.459> you<00:05:31.796> in-the-moment<00:05:32.437> coaching<00:05:32.903> on,<00:05:33.320> hey,<00:05:34.106> You<00:05:34.282> gave<00:05:34.603> feedback,<00:05:35.068> but<00:05:35.148> you<00:05:35.228> didn't<00:05:35.404> say<00:05:35.628> why<00:05:35.805> this<00:05:36.045> matters.

00:05:36.590 --> 00:05:41.302
And<00:05:36.831> sharing<00:05:37.231> impact<00:05:37.632> actually<00:05:37.952> helps<00:05:38.193> people<00:05:38.914> understand<00:05:39.892> why<00:05:40.212> improvement<00:05:40.853> is<00:05:41.014> needed.

00:05:41.671 --> 00:05:43.402
So,<00:05:41.895> the<00:05:42.200> AI<00:05:42.456> coach<00:05:42.680> will<00:05:42.857> give<00:05:43.001> you<00:05:43.097> that.

00:05:43.658 --> 00:05:47.633
And<00:05:43.738> then,<00:05:43.882> we're<00:05:44.043> also<00:05:44.363> measuring<00:05:44.844> how<00:05:45.004> you're<00:05:45.181> doing<00:05:45.501> against<00:05:45.822> the<00:05:45.902> discrete<00:05:46.318> skills<00:05:46.783> that<00:05:46.944> you're<00:05:47.088> practicing.

00:05:48.081 --> 00:05:58.819
And<00:05:48.146> so,<00:05:48.530> all<00:05:48.706> of<00:05:48.787> that<00:05:48.947> is<00:05:49.091> happening<00:05:49.909> in<00:05:49.989> a<00:05:50.069> much<00:05:50.293> more<00:05:50.389> personalized<00:05:51.671> and<00:05:51.752> a<00:05:51.800> much<00:05:52.072> more<00:05:52.553> responsive<00:05:53.979> and<00:05:55.197> in<00:05:55.342> a<00:05:55.422> way<00:05:55.614> that<00:05:55.822> drives<00:05:56.223> actually<00:05:56.560> more<00:05:57.105> behavioral<00:05:57.826> change<00:05:58.307> outcomes.

00:05:59.348 --> 00:06:00.983
And<00:05:59.445> that's<00:05:59.749> what<00:05:59.845> ladders<00:06:00.230> up<00:06:00.326> to<00:06:00.422> value<00:06:00.727> for<00:06:00.887> all.

00:06:01.047 --> 00:06:04.782
That's<00:06:01.288> what<00:06:01.432> ladders<00:06:01.768> up<00:06:01.913> to<00:06:02.009> engagement<00:06:02.570> and<00:06:02.650> inclusion<00:06:03.580> and<00:06:03.692> belonging<00:06:04.173> and<00:06:04.317> retention.

00:06:05.777 --> 00:06:07.380
What<00:06:05.873> does<00:06:06.033> a<00:06:06.097> typical<00:06:06.562> day<00:06:06.723> look<00:06:06.899> like<00:06:07.076> for<00:06:07.220> you?

00:06:08.487 --> 00:06:11.502
Oh,<00:06:09.209> I<00:06:10.010> love<00:06:10.508> a<00:06:10.588> good<00:06:10.973> routine.

00:06:11.967 --> 00:06:13.523
So<00:06:12.496> I<00:06:12.593> wake<00:06:12.833> up<00:06:12.993> pretty<00:06:13.394> early.

00:06:13.779 --> 00:06:15.126
I<00:06:13.940> am<00:06:14.036> a<00:06:14.116> morning<00:06:14.581> person.

00:06:15.704 --> 00:06:18.863
I<00:06:16.361> listen<00:06:16.987> to<00:06:17.404> a<00:06:17.500> news<00:06:17.965> podcast.

00:06:19.392 --> 00:06:21.285
I<00:06:20.114> listen<00:06:20.290> to<00:06:20.371> The<00:06:20.515> Daily<00:06:20.852> every<00:06:21.092> day.

00:06:21.974 --> 00:06:26.096
I<00:06:22.071> make<00:06:22.375> a<00:06:22.455> coffee,<00:06:23.017> and<00:06:23.193> then<00:06:23.578> I<00:06:23.738> do<00:06:25.182> a<00:06:25.262> meditation.

00:06:26.465 --> 00:06:27.539
I<00:06:26.497> do<00:06:26.625> a<00:06:26.770> gratitude<00:06:27.187> journal.

00:06:28.293 --> 00:06:31.821
And<00:06:28.710> that<00:06:29.416> Doing<00:06:29.656> those<00:06:29.977> things<00:06:30.314> gets<00:06:30.474> my<00:06:30.618> day<00:06:30.955> in<00:06:31.035> a<00:06:31.099> really<00:06:31.340> good<00:06:31.516> place.

00:06:32.478 --> 00:06:33.921
My<00:06:32.703> husband<00:06:33.023> and<00:06:33.103> I<00:06:33.184> have<00:06:33.360> a<00:06:33.440> dog.

00:06:34.547 --> 00:06:39.373
On<00:06:34.707> the<00:06:34.803> best<00:06:35.044> days,<00:06:35.428> I<00:06:35.525> get<00:06:35.685> to<00:06:35.765> go<00:06:36.246> on<00:06:36.326> a<00:06:36.471> walk<00:06:37.513> with<00:06:37.609> my<00:06:37.769> husband<00:06:38.074> and<00:06:38.234> our<00:06:38.651> dog,<00:06:38.908> Scott.

00:06:40.078 --> 00:06:47.630
On<00:06:40.174> other<00:06:40.399> days,<00:06:40.655> I<00:06:40.720> might<00:06:40.896> dive<00:06:41.201> straight<00:06:41.537> into<00:06:41.794> some<00:06:42.082> calls,<00:06:42.660> but<00:06:43.301> getting<00:06:44.167> that<00:06:44.824> morning<00:06:45.610> right<00:06:45.947> is<00:06:46.043> so<00:06:46.748> important<00:06:47.293> for<00:06:47.358> me.

00:06:48.592 --> 00:06:57.459
And<00:06:48.672> then<00:06:49.218> after,<00:06:50.099> whether<00:06:50.340> it's<00:06:50.596> calls<00:06:50.901> with<00:06:50.981> the<00:06:51.077> team,<00:06:51.639> with<00:06:51.863> clients,<00:06:52.440> with<00:06:52.585> investors,<00:06:54.108> ending<00:06:54.364> the<00:06:54.525> day<00:06:55.070> with<00:06:55.631> a<00:06:55.968> walk<00:06:56.208> with<00:06:56.353> my<00:06:56.449> husband<00:06:56.689> and<00:06:56.834> the<00:06:56.914> dog<00:06:57.186> again.

00:06:58.118 --> 00:06:58.761
Couldn't<00:06:58.294> get<00:06:58.536> better.

00:06:59.983 --> 00:07:01.397
Yeah,<00:07:00.224> that's<00:07:00.465> the<00:07:00.545> best<00:07:00.786> thing<00:07:00.947> in<00:07:01.028> the<00:07:01.172> world.

00:07:02.217 --> 00:07:04.709
There's<00:07:02.378> nothing—<00:07:02.700> there's<00:07:02.941> actually<00:07:03.134> nothing<00:07:03.600> better<00:07:03.841> than<00:07:04.323> that.

00:07:05.127 --> 00:07:07.819
There's<00:07:05.369> no<00:07:05.529> peak<00:07:05.835> to<00:07:07.705> that.

00:07:07.884 --> 00:07:08.747
Yeah,<00:07:08.193> exactly.

00:07:11.303 --> 00:07:12.328
So<00:07:11.628> what<00:07:11.775> are<00:07:11.807> you<00:07:11.954> reading?

00:07:13.753 --> 00:07:15.564
What<00:07:13.915> reading<00:07:14.158> recommendations<00:07:14.869> would<00:07:14.966> you<00:07:15.047> have<00:07:15.144> for<00:07:15.435> us?

00:07:17.132 --> 00:07:20.106
I<00:07:18.263> love<00:07:18.926> both<00:07:19.088> fiction<00:07:19.411> and<00:07:19.524> nonfiction.

00:07:20.445 --> 00:07:24.328
I<00:07:20.526> recently<00:07:21.092> finished<00:07:21.415> Tomorrow,<00:07:21.835> Tomorrow<00:07:22.143> and<00:07:22.240> Tomorrow,<00:07:22.870> which<00:07:22.983> I<00:07:22.999> don't<00:07:23.420> know<00:07:23.526> if<00:07:23.615> you've<00:07:23.794> heard<00:07:23.901> of<00:07:23.990> that<00:07:24.168> book.

00:07:25.318 --> 00:07:25.960
Oh,<00:07:25.398> of<00:07:25.559> course.

00:07:26.040 --> 00:07:28.030
Yeah,<00:07:26.923> I<00:07:27.565> love<00:07:27.886> it.

00:07:28.207 --> 00:07:31.641
I<00:07:28.704> literally<00:07:29.330> have<00:07:29.491> been<00:07:29.651> sharing<00:07:30.534> it<00:07:30.630> with<00:07:30.855> all<00:07:31.032> my<00:07:31.192> group<00:07:31.417> chats.

00:07:31.690 --> 00:07:33.439
So<00:07:31.850> that,<00:07:32.155> that's<00:07:32.460> been<00:07:32.572> a<00:07:32.637> recent<00:07:33.038> read.

00:07:33.985 --> 00:07:38.655
Um,<00:07:35.108> I<00:07:35.269> also—<00:07:36.007> there's<00:07:36.264> a<00:07:36.392> book,<00:07:36.794> um,<00:07:37.291> called<00:07:37.612> Into<00:07:37.837> the<00:07:37.917> Magic<00:07:38.334> Shop.

00:07:38.736 --> 00:07:50.019
It's<00:07:38.960> all<00:07:39.073> about<00:07:39.939> the<00:07:40.421> kind<00:07:40.678> of<00:07:40.967> the<00:07:41.063> power<00:07:41.448> of<00:07:41.544> neuroscience<00:07:42.973> and<00:07:44.337> manifesting<00:07:45.396> and<00:07:45.637> believing<00:07:46.424> and<00:07:46.584> working<00:07:46.985> hard<00:07:47.483> to<00:07:47.643> achieve<00:07:48.285> kind<00:07:48.751> of<00:07:48.847> your<00:07:49.072> wildest<00:07:49.601> dreams.

00:07:50.372 --> 00:07:53.425
That<00:07:50.693> book<00:07:50.918> has<00:07:51.079> been<00:07:51.416> incredibly<00:07:51.899> inspiring<00:07:52.445> to<00:07:52.541> me<00:07:52.702> in<00:07:52.782> this<00:07:53.023> moment.

00:07:54.148 --> 00:07:55.498
So<00:07:54.309> that's<00:07:54.775> been<00:07:54.871> a<00:07:54.887> fun<00:07:55.177> read<00:07:55.353> too.

00:07:56.783 --> 00:07:57.024
Yeah.

00:07:57.667 --> 00:08:14.073
As<00:07:58.230> you<00:07:58.326> think<00:07:58.583> about<00:08:00.094> the<00:08:00.190> future<00:08:00.736> of<00:08:00.881> AI<00:08:01.845> and,<00:08:02.327> you<00:08:02.359> know,<00:08:02.649> how<00:08:02.825> it's<00:08:03.050> already<00:08:03.372> transforming<00:08:04.095> companies<00:08:04.978> and<00:08:05.139> humanity,<00:08:06.826> and<00:08:06.987> obviously<00:08:07.325> everybody's<00:08:07.791> thinking<00:08:08.032> about<00:08:08.273> this<00:08:08.433> question<00:08:09.317> and<00:08:09.879> nobody<00:08:10.201> has<00:08:10.378> a<00:08:10.458> great<00:08:10.779> answer<00:08:11.085> for<00:08:11.197> it,<00:08:11.261> but<00:08:11.406> I<00:08:11.486> wonder<00:08:11.727> what<00:08:11.888> your<00:08:12.145> answer<00:08:12.531> might<00:08:12.788> be,<00:08:13.029> and<00:08:13.109> maybe<00:08:13.415> it<00:08:13.511> is<00:08:13.736> great.

00:08:16.226 --> 00:08:27.851
Around<00:08:16.564> like,<00:08:16.788> what<00:08:16.837> do,<00:08:17.110> what<00:08:17.543> does<00:08:17.688> all<00:08:17.832> of<00:08:17.912> this<00:08:18.153> look<00:08:18.330> like<00:08:18.571> 10<00:08:18.795> years<00:08:19.004> from<00:08:19.293> now<00:08:19.855> once<00:08:20.160> AI<00:08:20.578> is<00:08:20.803> kind<00:08:21.043> of<00:08:21.862> a<00:08:21.927> mainstay<00:08:22.986> and<00:08:23.067> is<00:08:23.147> a<00:08:23.227> little<00:08:23.452> bit<00:08:23.612> more,<00:08:24.255> um,<00:08:24.672> figured<00:08:24.993> out<00:08:25.395> and<00:08:25.475> the<00:08:25.636> use<00:08:25.876> cases<00:08:26.278> are<00:08:26.422> more<00:08:27.322> applicable?

00:08:29.313 --> 00:08:37.228
Yeah,<00:08:29.971> my<00:08:30.212> hope<00:08:30.469> is<00:08:30.613> that<00:08:30.918> we<00:08:31.978> can,<00:08:32.540> we<00:08:32.925> use<00:08:33.246> technology<00:08:33.889> in<00:08:33.969> a<00:08:34.049> way<00:08:34.306> that<00:08:34.531> helps<00:08:35.013> us<00:08:36.474> be<00:08:36.618> more<00:08:36.859> human.

00:08:37.437 --> 00:08:55.151
I<00:08:37.517> think<00:08:37.742> that,<00:08:38.625> um,<00:08:39.203> the<00:08:39.284> more<00:08:39.765> that<00:08:40.006> we<00:08:40.167> can<00:08:41.676> leverage<00:08:42.092> tools<00:08:42.813> that<00:08:43.038> help<00:08:43.278> us<00:08:43.518> actually<00:08:43.855> connect,<00:08:44.896> leverage<00:08:45.778> systems<00:08:46.435> that<00:08:46.595> help<00:08:46.899> us<00:08:47.123> actually<00:08:48.405> understand<00:08:49.383> and<00:08:49.847> compute<00:08:50.584> and<00:08:51.209> draw<00:08:51.546> insights<00:08:52.010> that<00:08:52.123> we<00:08:52.267> otherwise<00:08:52.667> wouldn't<00:08:52.908> have,<00:08:53.308> the,<00:08:53.468> the<00:08:53.709> better<00:08:54.430> the<00:08:54.590> world<00:08:54.895> will<00:08:55.055> be.

00:08:55.295 --> 00:09:07.937
And<00:08:55.375> I<00:08:55.551> think<00:08:56.192> my<00:08:56.337> hope<00:08:56.513> is<00:08:56.593> that<00:08:56.737> we<00:08:56.913> have<00:08:57.458> guardrails,<00:08:57.955> that<00:08:58.115> we<00:08:58.259> create<00:08:58.596> safety,<00:08:59.797> um,<00:09:00.422> protocols<00:09:01.223> that<00:09:01.400> enable<00:09:01.784> us<00:09:01.961> to<00:09:02.121> use<00:09:02.425> AI<00:09:02.842> in<00:09:02.986> a<00:09:03.082> really<00:09:04.748> intentional<00:09:05.325> way,<00:09:05.806> one<00:09:05.966> that<00:09:06.207> brings<00:09:06.607> along<00:09:07.072> all<00:09:07.264> of<00:09:07.328> the<00:09:07.488> perspectives.

00:09:08.033 --> 00:09:09.107
I<00:09:08.049> think<00:09:08.209> that's<00:09:08.450> been<00:09:08.594> a<00:09:08.674> lot<00:09:08.850> of<00:09:09.011> fear.

00:09:09.235 --> 00:09:25.731
I<00:09:09.331> think<00:09:09.812> that<00:09:10.758> there's<00:09:11.158> been<00:09:11.335> a<00:09:11.415> ton<00:09:11.735> of<00:09:11.816> research<00:09:12.216> around<00:09:13.659> the<00:09:14.381> lack<00:09:14.846> of<00:09:15.423> not<00:09:15.647> just<00:09:16.208> diversity<00:09:16.849> of<00:09:16.946> those<00:09:17.266> building<00:09:17.811> with<00:09:17.972> AI<00:09:18.228> systems,<00:09:19.110> but<00:09:19.254> the<00:09:19.495> outcomes<00:09:20.072> when<00:09:21.114> the<00:09:21.274> datasets<00:09:21.931> or<00:09:22.076> what<00:09:22.316> have<00:09:22.621> you<00:09:22.861> are<00:09:22.973> not<00:09:24.160> diverse,<00:09:24.625> that<00:09:24.881> aren't<00:09:25.122> inclusive.

00:09:26.164 --> 00:09:34.997
And<00:09:26.244> so<00:09:26.580> my<00:09:26.725> hope<00:09:26.965> is<00:09:27.029> that<00:09:27.190> we're<00:09:27.286> able<00:09:27.478> to<00:09:27.590> bring<00:09:28.328> everyone<00:09:28.713> along<00:09:29.290> on<00:09:29.450> this<00:09:29.995> kind<00:09:30.236> of<00:09:30.973> transformation<00:09:32.416> that<00:09:32.576> we're<00:09:32.736> going<00:09:33.137> to—<00:09:33.538> I<00:09:33.618> think<00:09:33.762> we've<00:09:33.939> just<00:09:34.179> dipped<00:09:34.356> our<00:09:34.564> toe<00:09:34.740> into.

00:09:36.008 --> 00:09:39.492
And<00:09:36.104> that,<00:09:36.971> I<00:09:38.031> think<00:09:38.192> that's<00:09:38.898> a<00:09:38.930> big<00:09:39.155> risk.

00:09:39.540 --> 00:09:52.562
And<00:09:39.797> I<00:09:39.877> think<00:09:40.054> it<00:09:40.118> requires<00:09:41.146> us<00:09:41.403> to<00:09:42.270> be<00:09:42.447> really<00:09:42.768> thoughtful<00:09:43.715> about<00:09:43.972> how<00:09:44.534> and<00:09:44.759> who<00:09:45.642> and<00:09:46.621> are<00:09:46.702> building,<00:09:47.264> but<00:09:47.408> also<00:09:47.649> what<00:09:47.745> questions<00:09:48.227> we're<00:09:48.371> asking<00:09:48.693> when<00:09:48.853> we're<00:09:48.949> building,<00:09:49.672> what<00:09:50.635> processes<00:09:51.197> we<00:09:51.342> have<00:09:51.904> as<00:09:52.080> we<00:09:52.241> build.

00:09:53.124 --> 00:10:11.741
Because<00:09:53.686> if<00:09:53.911> we<00:09:54.072> can<00:09:54.409> harness<00:09:54.874> kind<00:09:55.051> of<00:09:55.195> all<00:09:55.356> of<00:09:55.436> our<00:09:55.613> perspectives,<00:09:56.159> we<00:09:56.255> can<00:09:56.657> bring<00:09:58.086> the<00:09:58.246> best<00:09:58.728> of<00:09:59.338> kind<00:09:59.547> of,<00:10:01.088> society's<00:10:01.714> diversity<00:10:02.356> to<00:10:02.821> bear<00:10:03.639> in<00:10:04.185> designing<00:10:04.746> and<00:10:04.842> creating<00:10:05.805> and<00:10:06.350> ideating<00:10:07.008> what<00:10:07.169> even<00:10:07.409> gets<00:10:07.730> built,<00:10:08.532> I<00:10:08.837> think<00:10:09.014> we're<00:10:09.094> actually<00:10:09.431> going<00:10:09.527> to<00:10:09.639> have<00:10:09.992> a<00:10:10.057> pretty,<00:10:11.099> pretty<00:10:11.260> great<00:10:11.501> outcome.

00:10:11.934 --> 00:10:13.538
Do<00:10:13.009> you<00:10:13.089> think<00:10:13.265> we<00:10:13.410> will?

00:10:14.994 --> 00:10:15.415
Do<00:10:15.014> you<00:10:15.110> think<00:10:15.271> that—.

00:10:15.415 --> 00:10:16.426
I<00:10:15.495> have<00:10:15.672> to<00:10:15.752> believe<00:10:16.073> we<00:10:16.298> will.

00:10:16.715 --> 00:10:19.539
Otherwise,<00:10:17.501> I—<00:10:18.303> it<00:10:18.383> is<00:10:18.640> too<00:10:18.881> dark<00:10:19.202> for<00:10:19.346> me.

00:10:21.031 --> 00:10:23.357
It<00:10:21.111> gets<00:10:21.287> kind<00:10:21.464> of<00:10:21.528> scary<00:10:22.555> if<00:10:22.651> that<00:10:22.811> doesn't<00:10:23.116> happen.

00:10:23.919 --> 00:10:26.149
It's<00:10:24.159> absolutely<00:10:24.657> scary<00:10:25.138> if<00:10:25.282> that<00:10:25.443> doesn't<00:10:25.764> happen.

00:10:27.448 --> 00:10:34.550
But<00:10:27.608> my<00:10:27.769> hope<00:10:28.106> is<00:10:28.267> that,<00:10:29.215> you<00:10:29.247> know,<00:10:29.778> at<00:10:29.890> some<00:10:30.179> point<00:10:30.420> humanity<00:10:30.902> will<00:10:31.063> kick<00:10:31.256> in<00:10:31.304> and<00:10:31.385> we'll<00:10:31.642> be<00:10:31.818> able<00:10:32.140> to<00:10:33.490> put<00:10:33.715> those<00:10:33.891> guardrails<00:10:34.438> up.

00:10:34.614 --> 00:10:36.884
We'll<00:10:34.775> be<00:10:34.920> able<00:10:35.161> to<00:10:35.820> put<00:10:36.077> those<00:10:36.270> safety<00:10:36.544> checks.

00:10:36.932 --> 00:10:43.965
We'll<00:10:37.029> be<00:10:37.191> able<00:10:37.353> to<00:10:37.595> bring<00:10:37.902> those<00:10:38.145> voices<00:10:38.484> in<00:10:38.646> the<00:10:38.792> room<00:10:39.923> because<00:10:40.166> I,<00:10:40.893> I,<00:10:41.297> I<00:10:41.378> don't<00:10:41.556> think<00:10:41.718> any<00:10:41.944> of<00:10:42.267> us<00:10:42.445> want<00:10:42.752> to<00:10:42.849> get<00:10:43.076> to<00:10:43.173> that<00:10:43.399> dark<00:10:43.642> outcome.

00:10:45.050 --> 00:10:45.148
Yeah.

00:10:45.807 --> 00:10:45.988
Yeah.

00:10:46.417 --> 00:10:47.833
I<00:10:46.565> think<00:10:46.730> you're<00:10:46.829> right<00:10:46.993> about<00:10:47.224> that<00:10:47.471> for<00:10:47.636> sure.

00:10:49.486 --> 00:10:54.028
In<00:10:49.649> your<00:10:49.796> opinion<00:10:50.450> as,<00:10:50.695> as<00:10:50.793> a<00:10:50.940> leader,<00:10:51.201> and<00:10:51.348> you're<00:10:51.528> a<00:10:51.610> remarkable<00:10:52.263> leader<00:10:52.508> and<00:10:52.655> you've<00:10:52.835> built<00:10:53.080> a<00:10:53.227> remarkable<00:10:53.799> company.

00:10:55.291 --> 00:10:58.463
What<00:10:55.455> are<00:10:55.538> kind<00:10:55.718> of<00:10:55.784> like<00:10:55.932> the<00:10:56.113> 3<00:10:56.294> most<00:10:56.622> important<00:10:57.099> traits<00:10:57.576> for<00:10:57.674> a<00:10:57.822> leader<00:10:58.069> to<00:10:58.151> have?

00:11:00.120 --> 00:11:01.678
You<00:11:00.152> know,<00:11:00.216> I<00:11:00.312> appreciate<00:11:00.730> that<00:11:00.875> question<00:11:01.276> so<00:11:01.437> much.

00:11:01.742 --> 00:11:12.623
I<00:11:01.839> think<00:11:02.867> like<00:11:03.028> on<00:11:03.140> my<00:11:03.429> leadership<00:11:03.911> journey,<00:11:04.313> I<00:11:04.409> think<00:11:04.634> first<00:11:04.891> and<00:11:05.052> foremost<00:11:05.679> is<00:11:06.016> just<00:11:07.141> knowing<00:11:07.543> my<00:11:07.784> values,<00:11:08.442> knowing<00:11:08.908> what<00:11:09.294> matters<00:11:09.809> most<00:11:10.100> to<00:11:10.213> me<00:11:10.440> and<00:11:10.682> being<00:11:10.989> able<00:11:11.329> to<00:11:11.653> come<00:11:11.895> back<00:11:12.202> to<00:11:12.299> that.

00:11:13.092 --> 00:11:17.782
I<00:11:13.189> think<00:11:13.836> one<00:11:13.981> of<00:11:14.078> the<00:11:14.483> most<00:11:14.725> detrimental<00:11:15.437> things<00:11:15.696> is<00:11:15.841> to<00:11:16.019> lead<00:11:16.343> from<00:11:16.504> a<00:11:16.569> place<00:11:16.812> that's<00:11:17.070> inauthentic.

00:11:18.202 --> 00:11:26.810
And<00:11:18.283> I've<00:11:18.429> had<00:11:18.607> to<00:11:18.688> learn<00:11:18.849> that<00:11:18.946> the<00:11:19.060> hard<00:11:19.334> way<00:11:19.899> where,<00:11:20.610> you<00:11:20.642> know,<00:11:21.030> a<00:11:21.111> management<00:11:21.660> book<00:11:21.837> might<00:11:22.064> tell<00:11:22.225> you<00:11:22.322> to<00:11:22.403> do<00:11:22.564> something<00:11:22.952> one<00:11:23.130> way,<00:11:23.712> and<00:11:23.857> you<00:11:23.954> try<00:11:24.422> it<00:11:24.680> and<00:11:24.744> you're<00:11:24.841> like,<00:11:25.164> "Ooh,<00:11:25.648> that<00:11:25.890> did<00:11:25.971> not<00:11:26.358> feel<00:11:26.600> good.

00:11:26.858 --> 00:11:37.949
I<00:11:27.020> wish<00:11:27.262> I<00:11:27.407> had<00:11:27.504> done<00:11:27.665> it<00:11:27.826> differently."<00:11:28.714> And<00:11:28.940> I<00:11:29.037> think<00:11:29.666> a<00:11:29.763> lot<00:11:30.005> of<00:11:30.069> my<00:11:30.247> leadership<00:11:30.650> journey<00:11:30.957> has<00:11:31.134> been<00:11:31.441> unlearning<00:11:32.005> what<00:11:32.167> I've<00:11:32.264> been<00:11:32.425> told<00:11:33.054> is<00:11:33.151> a<00:11:33.200> good<00:11:33.328> leader<00:11:34.182> and<00:11:36.355> trying<00:11:36.838> to<00:11:37.015> form<00:11:37.256> a<00:11:37.272> new<00:11:37.562> path.

00:11:38.480 --> 00:11:40.540
Some<00:11:38.705> days<00:11:38.963> I'm<00:11:39.108> successful,<00:11:39.687> some<00:11:39.913> days<00:11:40.170> I'm<00:11:40.315> not.

00:11:40.895 --> 00:11:47.738
So<00:11:41.023> I<00:11:41.104> think<00:11:41.265> the<00:11:41.329> number<00:11:41.587> one<00:11:41.764> thing<00:11:41.989> is<00:11:42.086> to<00:11:42.182> know<00:11:42.392> yourself,<00:11:42.955> know<00:11:43.036> your<00:11:43.197> values,<00:11:43.537> and<00:11:43.617> know<00:11:43.844> how<00:11:44.425> you<00:11:44.668> want<00:11:44.910> to<00:11:45.056> show<00:11:45.298> up<00:11:45.411> as<00:11:45.557> a<00:11:45.573> leader<00:11:46.203> so<00:11:46.268> that<00:11:46.429> you<00:11:46.526> can<00:11:46.752> practice<00:11:47.156> that<00:11:47.318> every<00:11:47.496> day.

00:11:48.304 --> 00:11:54.365
I<00:11:48.385> think<00:11:48.546> two<00:11:48.772> is<00:11:48.869> like,<00:11:49.478> surrounding<00:11:49.943> yourself<00:11:50.423> with<00:11:50.728> people<00:11:51.048> who<00:11:51.208> are<00:11:51.369> way<00:11:51.561> smarter<00:11:52.042> than<00:11:52.410> you,<00:11:52.987> which<00:11:53.212> I've<00:11:53.532> absolutely<00:11:53.869> tried<00:11:54.109> to<00:11:54.253> do.

00:11:55.455 --> 00:11:59.974
I<00:11:55.792> hope<00:11:56.032> to<00:11:56.128> never<00:11:56.513> be<00:11:56.737> the<00:11:56.769> smartest<00:11:57.234> in<00:11:57.298> the<00:11:57.394> room<00:11:57.554> because<00:11:57.795> if<00:11:58.019> I<00:11:58.195> am,<00:11:58.980> we<00:11:59.061> got<00:11:59.189> to<00:11:59.237> make<00:11:59.413> the<00:11:59.541> room<00:11:59.718> bigger.

00:12:00.038 --> 00:12:01.320
We<00:12:00.182> got<00:12:00.278> to<00:12:00.423> find<00:12:00.615> some<00:12:00.743> more<00:12:00.983> folks.

00:12:01.977 --> 00:12:05.823
So<00:12:02.426> that's<00:12:02.682> been<00:12:03.147> absolutely<00:12:04.301> something<00:12:04.685> I've<00:12:04.829> tried<00:12:05.006> to<00:12:05.086> prioritize.

00:12:05.887 --> 00:12:37.609
And<00:12:06.031> then<00:12:06.608> I<00:12:06.688> think<00:12:06.849> the<00:12:07.009> third<00:12:07.313> thing<00:12:07.570> beyond<00:12:08.771> knowing<00:12:08.996> yourself,<00:12:09.557> beyond<00:12:10.053> building<00:12:10.694> great<00:12:11.079> partnerships<00:12:11.640> with<00:12:11.816> folks<00:12:12.057> who<00:12:12.153> are<00:12:12.297> smarter<00:12:13.178> and<00:12:13.338> wiser<00:12:14.284> than<00:12:14.524> you<00:12:14.765> are,<00:12:15.566> is<00:12:16.545> 3,<00:12:17.026> making<00:12:17.331> sure<00:12:17.491> that<00:12:17.572> you<00:12:17.668> actually<00:12:17.973> have<00:12:18.085> the<00:12:18.165> support<00:12:18.550> of<00:12:18.711> people<00:12:19.176> outside<00:12:19.898> of<00:12:19.994> that,<00:12:20.475> of<00:12:20.620> whatever<00:12:20.940> you're<00:12:21.037> trying<00:12:21.293> to<00:12:21.422> lead,<00:12:22.063> that<00:12:22.224> you<00:12:22.384> have<00:12:22.577> a<00:12:22.641> community,<00:12:23.138> that<00:12:23.347> you<00:12:23.507> have<00:12:24.807> a<00:12:24.887> group<00:12:25.063> of<00:12:25.208> folks<00:12:25.432> you<00:12:25.529> can<00:12:25.673> go<00:12:25.850> to<00:12:26.010> and<00:12:26.090> just<00:12:26.251> be<00:12:26.475> true<00:12:27.213> and<00:12:27.438> real<00:12:28.031> and<00:12:28.096> share<00:12:28.336> what<00:12:28.481> you're<00:12:28.577> feeling,<00:12:29.443> cry,<00:12:30.021> laugh,<00:12:30.903> complain,<00:12:31.561> celebrate,<00:12:32.571> because<00:12:33.069> the<00:12:33.630> journey<00:12:34.272> can<00:12:34.577> be<00:12:35.315> incredibly<00:12:36.662> hard.

00:12:38.668 --> 00:12:41.122
It<00:12:38.828> can<00:12:39.085> be—<00:12:39.646> the<00:12:39.791> lows<00:12:40.111> are<00:12:40.192> low,<00:12:40.432> the<00:12:40.593> highs<00:12:40.849> are<00:12:40.994> high.

00:12:41.716 --> 00:12:47.090
And<00:12:41.797> having<00:12:42.459> the,<00:12:42.765> the<00:12:42.798> support<00:12:43.265> around<00:12:43.685> you,<00:12:43.814> I<00:12:43.911> think,<00:12:44.088> is<00:12:44.298> critical<00:12:44.879> to<00:12:45.202> be<00:12:45.363> able<00:12:45.686> to<00:12:45.912> do<00:12:46.170> 1<00:12:46.332> and<00:12:46.493> 2<00:12:46.896> well.

00:12:48.700 --> 00:12:54.299
You<00:12:48.765> mentioned,<00:12:48.976> like,<00:12:49.220> values,<00:12:49.725> and<00:12:49.855> I,<00:12:50.034> I<00:12:50.116> think<00:12:50.295> about<00:12:50.506> values<00:12:50.848> a<00:12:50.913> lot,<00:12:51.092> both<00:12:51.320> company<00:12:51.662> values<00:12:52.069> and<00:12:52.150> personal<00:12:52.704> values,<00:12:53.371> and<00:12:53.420> I'm<00:12:53.518> sure<00:12:53.762> you<00:12:53.860> do<00:12:54.006> as<00:12:54.185> well.

00:12:55.073 --> 00:12:58.351
How<00:12:55.153> do<00:12:55.218> you<00:12:55.379> come<00:12:55.557> up<00:12:55.702> with<00:12:55.816> your<00:12:56.122> values,<00:12:56.768> both<00:12:56.995> personal<00:12:57.398> and<00:12:57.495> company,<00:12:57.883> actually?

00:12:58.771 --> 00:13:00.079
And<00:12:59.256> what<00:12:59.417> it—<00:12:59.659> what<00:12:59.821> are<00:12:59.999> they?

00:13:00.467 --> 00:13:01.533
What's<00:13:00.645> that<00:13:00.871> journey<00:13:01.210> like?

00:13:02.062 --> 00:13:03.681
I<00:13:02.082> think<00:13:02.179> that<00:13:02.244> would<00:13:02.421> be<00:13:02.502> really<00:13:02.728> interesting<00:13:03.148> for<00:13:03.229> a<00:13:03.245> lot<00:13:03.471> of<00:13:03.520> people.

00:13:04.909 --> 00:13:08.287
Yeah,<00:13:05.394> I,<00:13:05.556> I<00:13:05.588> guess<00:13:05.976> I<00:13:06.057> can<00:13:06.218> start<00:13:07.026> with<00:13:07.333> company<00:13:07.818> values.

00:13:08.384 --> 00:13:15.102
I<00:13:08.416> mean,<00:13:08.707> when<00:13:08.885> Heather<00:13:09.208> and<00:13:09.353> I<00:13:09.450> met<00:13:09.693> on<00:13:09.838> that<00:13:09.935> coffee<00:13:10.339> day,<00:13:10.646> I<00:13:10.662> feel<00:13:10.872> like<00:13:11.050> our<00:13:11.147> second<00:13:11.373> conversation<00:13:12.772> was<00:13:12.965> like,<00:13:13.319> what<00:13:13.560> do<00:13:13.656> we<00:13:13.897> want<00:13:14.202> our<00:13:14.363> company<00:13:14.700> to<00:13:14.845> feel<00:13:14.957> like?

00:13:15.166 --> 00:13:19.730
And<00:13:15.343> mind<00:13:15.600> you,<00:13:15.745> we<00:13:15.825> weren't<00:13:16.050> a<00:13:16.066> company,<00:13:16.693> we<00:13:16.853> hadn't<00:13:17.593> founded<00:13:17.898> anything,<00:13:18.332> we<00:13:18.460> hadn't<00:13:18.701> built<00:13:18.862> a<00:13:19.023> business<00:13:19.424> plan.

00:13:20.228 --> 00:13:23.505
But<00:13:20.324> like,<00:13:20.645> that's<00:13:20.967> where<00:13:21.208> we<00:13:21.368> started,<00:13:22.011> of<00:13:22.236> what<00:13:22.477> are<00:13:22.654> we<00:13:22.879> aligned<00:13:23.377> on.

00:13:23.602 --> 00:13:34.801
And,<00:13:24.164> you<00:13:24.196> know,<00:13:24.823> the<00:13:24.968> values<00:13:25.321> of<00:13:25.466> curiosity,<00:13:26.671> of<00:13:26.767> open-mindedness,<00:13:27.940> things<00:13:28.197> that<00:13:28.422> are<00:13:28.599> like<00:13:29.306> personal—<00:13:30.430> I,<00:13:30.591> I<00:13:30.671> think<00:13:30.832> they<00:13:30.993> come<00:13:31.170> from<00:13:31.330> both<00:13:31.571> of<00:13:31.716> us<00:13:32.053> as<00:13:32.278> humans<00:13:32.776> and<00:13:32.857> people<00:13:33.419> and<00:13:33.564> our<00:13:33.805> own<00:13:33.965> individual<00:13:34.463> values.

00:13:34.849 --> 00:13:44.194
But<00:13:35.010> also,<00:13:35.974> I<00:13:35.990> think<00:13:36.215> one<00:13:36.311> of<00:13:36.408> the<00:13:36.552> unique<00:13:37.034> things<00:13:37.339> about<00:13:37.532> starting<00:13:37.838> a<00:13:37.918> company<00:13:38.320> is<00:13:38.400> you<00:13:38.866> can<00:13:39.765> you<00:13:39.845> have,<00:13:40.230> you<00:13:40.326> have<00:13:40.471> a<00:13:40.567> blank<00:13:40.872> space<00:13:41.209> in<00:13:41.289> front<00:13:41.450> of<00:13:41.530> you<00:13:41.610> to<00:13:41.690> create<00:13:42.814> the<00:13:42.894> company<00:13:43.279> you<00:13:43.456> wish<00:13:43.680> you<00:13:43.777> had<00:13:43.937> worked<00:13:44.114> at.

00:13:44.258 --> 00:13:45.638
And<00:13:44.563> I<00:13:44.659> think<00:13:44.836> we've<00:13:45.061> tried<00:13:45.526> that.

00:13:45.703 --> 00:13:50.244
And,<00:13:46.248> you<00:13:46.280> know,<00:13:46.425> my<00:13:46.665> favorite<00:13:46.986> conversations<00:13:47.532> with<00:13:47.693> Heather<00:13:47.869> are<00:13:47.949> like,<00:13:48.752> huh,<00:13:49.329> something<00:13:49.618> doesn't<00:13:49.875> feel<00:13:50.180> right.

00:13:50.292 --> 00:13:54.866
Like,<00:13:51.143> we're,<00:13:51.464> we<00:13:51.705> run<00:13:51.881> this<00:13:52.106> company<00:13:52.507> and<00:13:52.571> it<00:13:52.603> doesn't<00:13:52.924> feel<00:13:53.149> how,<00:13:53.566> like,<00:13:53.727> a<00:13:53.791> company<00:13:54.192> we'd<00:13:54.369> want<00:13:54.513> to<00:13:54.610> be<00:13:54.770> at.

00:13:54.947 --> 00:13:55.749
So<00:13:55.155> what<00:13:55.267> are<00:13:55.332> we<00:13:55.412> going<00:13:55.524> to<00:13:55.653> do?

00:13:55.990 --> 00:13:56.921
How<00:13:56.150> do<00:13:56.279> we<00:13:56.359> make<00:13:56.551> it<00:13:56.680> better?

00:13:57.001 --> 00:13:59.199
How<00:13:57.113> do<00:13:57.177> we<00:13:57.418> live<00:13:58.140> and<00:13:58.220> go<00:13:58.445> back<00:13:58.686> to<00:13:58.766> those<00:13:58.943> values?

00:13:59.264 --> 00:14:09.778
So<00:13:59.809> I<00:13:59.841> think<00:14:00.050> for<00:14:00.130> Heather<00:14:00.291> and<00:14:00.371> I,<00:14:00.467> we<00:14:00.547> really<00:14:00.788> sat<00:14:01.029> down<00:14:01.254> and<00:14:01.334> just<00:14:01.655> wrote<00:14:01.896> out<00:14:02.136> all<00:14:02.313> the<00:14:02.473> things<00:14:02.858> that<00:14:03.516> we<00:14:03.741> wanted<00:14:04.223> for<00:14:04.319> a<00:14:04.399> company<00:14:05.282> that<00:14:05.507> we<00:14:05.587> had<00:14:05.748> worked<00:14:05.988> at<00:14:06.101> in<00:14:06.229> other<00:14:06.406> places<00:14:06.888> or<00:14:07.032> what<00:14:07.193> we<00:14:07.674> could<00:14:07.771> imagine<00:14:08.397> a<00:14:08.413> company<00:14:08.879> could<00:14:09.039> look<00:14:09.216> and<00:14:09.360> feel<00:14:09.457> like.

00:14:10.243 --> 00:14:14.434
For<00:14:10.886> my<00:14:10.982> personal<00:14:11.399> values,<00:14:11.785> I<00:14:11.865> think<00:14:12.026> those<00:14:12.202> have<00:14:12.347> been<00:14:12.507> shaped<00:14:12.829> and<00:14:12.909> are<00:14:12.989> continuing<00:14:13.471> to<00:14:13.567> shape<00:14:13.872> over<00:14:14.097> time.

00:14:14.980 --> 00:14:23.763
I<00:14:14.996> mean,<00:14:15.462> even<00:14:16.682> as<00:14:16.778> a<00:14:16.907> young<00:14:17.084> person,<00:14:17.485> like<00:14:18.111> I<00:14:18.272> had<00:14:18.529> this<00:14:18.914> real<00:14:19.315> focus<00:14:19.733> on<00:14:19.893> what<00:14:20.054> is<00:14:20.295> fair<00:14:21.098> and<00:14:21.242> what<00:14:21.419> is<00:14:22.607> equal<00:14:22.944> or<00:14:23.169> equitable.

00:14:23.988 --> 00:14:29.319
And<00:14:24.229> those<00:14:24.534> are<00:14:24.566> the<00:14:24.775> things<00:14:25.015> that<00:14:25.096> I've<00:14:25.337> always<00:14:25.529> sought<00:14:25.899> out,<00:14:26.380> whether<00:14:26.637> it's<00:14:26.878> educational<00:14:27.906> or<00:14:28.725> professional.

00:14:31.052 --> 00:14:36.870
Really<00:14:31.373> do<00:14:31.597> care<00:14:31.934> deeply<00:14:32.415> about<00:14:32.975> valuing<00:14:34.017> the<00:14:34.097> diversity<00:14:35.284> and<00:14:35.604> uplifting<00:14:36.341> of<00:14:36.566> others.

00:14:37.463 --> 00:14:42.240
I<00:14:37.624> believe<00:14:38.088> life<00:14:38.425> in<00:14:38.505> the<00:14:38.585> service<00:14:38.986> of<00:14:39.130> others<00:14:39.547> is,<00:14:40.108> is<00:14:40.252> the<00:14:40.332> most<00:14:40.589> beautiful<00:14:41.054> way<00:14:41.230> in<00:14:41.374> which<00:14:41.615> one<00:14:41.791> can<00:14:42.015> live.

00:14:42.288 --> 00:14:55.463
And<00:14:42.416> so<00:14:43.073> I<00:14:43.153> think,<00:14:44.179> you<00:14:44.211> know,<00:14:44.997> there<00:14:45.157> can—<00:14:46.840> my<00:14:47.064> values<00:14:47.625> can<00:14:47.785> shift,<00:14:48.186> how<00:14:48.282> I<00:14:48.362> talk<00:14:48.699> about<00:14:48.923> them<00:14:49.068> over<00:14:49.324> time<00:14:49.789> can<00:14:49.965> shift,<00:14:51.248> but<00:14:52.129> the<00:14:52.289> core<00:14:52.690> of<00:14:52.850> it<00:14:52.995> is<00:14:53.107> about<00:14:53.636> how<00:14:53.812> do<00:14:53.956> you<00:14:54.117> live<00:14:54.293> life<00:14:54.533> in<00:14:54.613> the<00:14:54.694> service<00:14:55.030> of<00:14:55.158> others?

00:14:55.960 --> 00:14:58.973
How<00:14:56.056> do<00:14:56.200> you<00:14:56.312> support<00:14:56.937> and<00:14:57.242> lift<00:14:57.643> up<00:14:57.819> everyone<00:14:58.316> around<00:14:58.845> you?

00:14:59.422 --> 00:15:05.033
And<00:14:59.742> this<00:14:59.983> fundamental<00:15:00.464> belief<00:15:00.929> that<00:15:01.041> if<00:15:01.329> you<00:15:01.891> have<00:15:02.211> opportunity,<00:15:03.013> power,<00:15:03.349> or<00:15:03.494> privilege,<00:15:04.231> how<00:15:04.391> do<00:15:04.455> you<00:15:04.552> share<00:15:04.856> that?

00:15:06.219 --> 00:15:06.876
How<00:15:06.315> do<00:15:06.379> you<00:15:06.555> do<00:15:06.700> that?

00:15:07.661 --> 00:15:40.208
Well,<00:15:07.758> we're<00:15:07.838> trying<00:15:08.094> to—<00:15:08.559> I<00:15:08.703> feel<00:15:08.800> like<00:15:09.200> Praxis<00:15:09.761> is<00:15:09.922> a<00:15:09.986> little<00:15:10.242> bit<00:15:10.387> of<00:15:10.499> an<00:15:10.627> extension<00:15:11.188> of<00:15:11.589> how<00:15:11.926> do<00:15:12.230> you<00:15:12.406> create<00:15:13.272> workplaces<00:15:14.010> that<00:15:14.314> actually<00:15:15.677> encourage<00:15:17.697> not<00:15:18.081> just<00:15:18.498> what<00:15:18.963> we<00:15:19.123> have<00:15:19.300> known<00:15:19.684> as<00:15:19.861> the<00:15:20.181> kind<00:15:20.438> of<00:15:20.502> meritocracy,<00:15:21.624> but<00:15:21.929> one<00:15:22.169> where<00:15:23.307> barriers<00:15:23.868> are<00:15:23.948> removed<00:15:24.493> for<00:15:24.670> those<00:15:24.990> who<00:15:25.135> have<00:15:25.712> barriers<00:15:26.274> up,<00:15:26.515> for<00:15:26.595> those<00:15:26.820> who've<00:15:26.980> had<00:15:27.141> to<00:15:27.221> travel<00:15:27.783> extra<00:15:28.200> distance,<00:15:29.147> that<00:15:29.324> we<00:15:29.484> can<00:15:30.271> actually<00:15:30.705> see<00:15:31.090> that<00:15:31.331> and<00:15:31.491> value<00:15:31.892> that,<00:15:32.535> for,<00:15:33.080> you<00:15:33.594> know,<00:15:33.883> value<00:15:34.381> not<00:15:34.702> just<00:15:34.943> where<00:15:35.039> someone<00:15:35.424> went<00:15:35.649> to<00:15:35.745> college,<00:15:36.869> but<00:15:37.335> what<00:15:38.057> they<00:15:38.234> have<00:15:38.458> overcome,<00:15:39.117> a<00:15:39.261> hustle<00:15:39.678> that<00:15:39.823> they<00:15:39.983> have.

00:15:40.305 --> 00:15:52.232
All<00:15:40.481> of<00:15:40.561> those<00:15:40.866> things<00:15:41.123> I<00:15:41.284> think<00:15:41.910> are<00:15:42.167> part<00:15:42.793> of<00:15:42.969> what<00:15:43.194> we<00:15:43.355> try<00:15:43.531> to<00:15:43.612> do<00:15:43.708> with<00:15:43.901> Praxis<00:15:44.334> by<00:15:44.896> helping<00:15:45.233> and<00:15:45.329> develop<00:15:45.699> leaders<00:15:46.164> who<00:15:46.742> are<00:15:47.047> able<00:15:47.288> to<00:15:47.689> connect<00:15:48.492> on<00:15:48.572> a<00:15:48.652> human<00:15:48.974> level,<00:15:49.311> who<00:15:49.391> are<00:15:49.471> able<00:15:49.712> to<00:15:49.856> ask<00:15:50.033> questions,<00:15:50.499> who<00:15:50.531> are<00:15:50.595> able<00:15:50.820> to<00:15:50.916> check<00:15:51.141> their<00:15:51.301> own<00:15:51.462> biases<00:15:51.943> at<00:15:51.976> the<00:15:52.120> door.

00:15:52.699 --> 00:15:58.232
So<00:15:53.168> definitely<00:15:53.411> Praxis<00:15:53.815> is<00:15:53.961> one<00:15:54.074> extension<00:15:54.543> of<00:15:54.689> how<00:15:54.867> I<00:15:55.029> think<00:15:55.207> about<00:15:56.145> sharing<00:15:56.792> opportunity,<00:15:57.359> power,<00:15:57.698> and<00:15:57.779> privilege.

00:15:58.653 --> 00:16:03.855
I<00:15:58.669> think<00:15:58.847> another<00:15:59.300> is,<00:16:00.927> and<00:16:01.428> you<00:16:01.509> know,<00:16:01.832> I<00:16:01.913> think<00:16:02.075> a<00:16:02.140> lot<00:16:02.253> of<00:16:02.318> people<00:16:02.609> will<00:16:02.706> help<00:16:02.884> folks<00:16:03.143> in<00:16:03.272> their<00:16:03.369> network.

00:16:04.113 --> 00:16:18.779
So<00:16:04.680> someone<00:16:05.052> who<00:16:05.133> you<00:16:05.311> went<00:16:05.780> to<00:16:06.346> grad<00:16:06.589> school<00:16:06.766> with<00:16:07.009> or<00:16:07.090> someone<00:16:07.414> who<00:16:07.802> has<00:16:08.044> the<00:16:08.125> same<00:16:08.303> investor<00:16:09.096> or<00:16:09.759> someone<00:16:10.002> who<00:16:10.729> your<00:16:11.052> best<00:16:11.360> friend<00:16:12.184> from<00:16:13.057> high<00:16:13.154> school<00:16:13.461> went<00:16:13.639> to<00:16:14.673> wants<00:16:14.932> to<00:16:15.158> ask<00:16:15.400> you<00:16:15.627> for<00:16:16.063> something<00:16:16.564> or<00:16:16.791> wants<00:16:17.017> to<00:16:17.049> get<00:16:17.178> your<00:16:17.275> advice<00:16:17.680> or<00:16:17.744> wants<00:16:18.310> an<00:16:18.407> introduction.

00:16:19.973 --> 00:16:20.710
And<00:16:20.037> I<00:16:20.053> think<00:16:20.213> those<00:16:20.373> are<00:16:20.453> great.

00:16:21.095 --> 00:16:24.749
One<00:16:21.239> of<00:16:21.271> the<00:16:21.399> things<00:16:21.640> I've<00:16:21.800> always<00:16:22.056> tried<00:16:22.217> to<00:16:22.281> do<00:16:22.457> is<00:16:22.537> like<00:16:23.162> folks<00:16:23.338> who<00:16:23.595> don't<00:16:23.964> have<00:16:24.124> shared<00:16:24.380> connections.

00:16:24.861 --> 00:16:38.180
So<00:16:25.037> if<00:16:25.166> I<00:16:25.262> get<00:16:25.406> a<00:16:25.422> message<00:16:25.887> from<00:16:25.999> someone<00:16:26.304> on<00:16:26.464> LinkedIn<00:16:27.185> who<00:16:27.345> has<00:16:27.506> zero<00:16:27.986> shared<00:16:28.291> connections<00:16:29.253> but<00:16:29.413> are<00:16:29.589> interested<00:16:30.006> in<00:16:30.214> getting<00:16:30.471> into<00:16:30.695> startups,<00:16:31.096> like<00:16:31.593> those<00:16:31.849> are<00:16:31.913> the<00:16:31.993> folks<00:16:32.298> who<00:16:32.378> it's<00:16:32.490> like,<00:16:33.099> I<00:16:33.131> don't,<00:16:33.596> I'm<00:16:33.740> not<00:16:33.917> sure<00:16:34.702> if<00:16:34.878> you<00:16:35.103> have<00:16:35.519> access<00:16:35.984> to<00:16:36.802> this<00:16:37.106> world<00:16:37.523> that<00:16:37.747> I<00:16:38.068> do.

00:16:38.404 --> 00:16:44.062
And<00:16:38.645> I<00:16:38.789> wanna<00:16:38.965> share<00:16:39.286> that<00:16:39.831> because<00:16:40.071> that<00:16:40.312> person<00:16:40.568> then<00:16:40.793> can<00:16:40.969> go<00:16:41.129> share<00:16:41.370> it<00:16:41.450> with<00:16:41.674> their<00:16:41.850> network<00:16:42.347> and<00:16:42.475> hopefully<00:16:42.956> more<00:16:43.133> people<00:16:43.533> can<00:16:43.678> have<00:16:43.838> access.

00:16:44.110 --> 00:17:01.149
So<00:16:44.271> like<00:16:44.735> that's<00:16:44.976> even<00:16:45.152> like<00:16:45.521> a<00:16:45.777> even<00:16:46.162> more<00:16:46.418> small<00:16:46.883> way,<00:16:47.123> but<00:16:47.220> I<00:16:47.364> do<00:16:47.460> think<00:16:47.636> it's<00:16:47.781> about<00:16:48.616> acknowledging<00:16:49.261> the<00:16:49.293> systems<00:16:49.761> of<00:16:49.841> power<00:16:50.164> and<00:16:50.389> privilege<00:16:50.712> that<00:16:50.809> you're<00:16:51.035> in<00:16:52.083> and<00:16:52.325> trying<00:16:52.744> to<00:16:52.970> get<00:16:53.212> outside<00:16:53.566> of<00:16:53.695> them<00:16:54.356> and<00:16:54.437> trying<00:16:54.921> to<00:16:55.727> meet<00:16:55.969> people<00:16:56.372> in<00:16:56.598> real<00:16:57.017> ways<00:16:57.824> that<00:16:57.888> allow<00:16:58.373> you<00:16:58.696> to<00:16:58.857> learn<00:16:59.099> from<00:16:59.277> them<00:17:00.003> and<00:17:00.148> allow<00:17:00.326> them<00:17:00.552> to<00:17:00.633> learn<00:17:00.875> from<00:17:01.052> you.

00:17:02.489 --> 00:17:12.685
In<00:17:02.586> a<00:17:02.602> different<00:17:02.941> time,<00:17:03.134> I<00:17:03.215> imagine<00:17:03.651> CEOs<00:17:04.281> did<00:17:04.426> not<00:17:04.668> have<00:17:04.845> to<00:17:04.991> worry<00:17:05.249> too<00:17:05.394> much<00:17:05.588> about<00:17:05.798> what<00:17:05.959> was<00:17:06.121> happening<00:17:06.524> in<00:17:06.621> the<00:17:06.702> world<00:17:07.529> or<00:17:07.659> in<00:17:07.756> their<00:17:07.918> country,<00:17:08.648> or<00:17:08.729> maybe<00:17:08.972> even<00:17:09.231> in<00:17:09.377> their<00:17:09.539> community,<00:17:10.107> although<00:17:10.350> they<00:17:10.496> probably<00:17:10.739> had<00:17:10.788> to<00:17:10.917> think<00:17:11.015> a<00:17:11.079> little<00:17:11.306> bit<00:17:11.388> about<00:17:11.566> what<00:17:11.631> was<00:17:11.809> happening<00:17:12.133> in<00:17:12.214> their<00:17:12.377> community.

00:17:14.604 --> 00:17:16.059
Being<00:17:14.830> a<00:17:14.846> CEO<00:17:15.169> now<00:17:15.347> is<00:17:15.477> completely<00:17:15.816> different.

00:17:16.139 --> 00:17:17.449
You<00:17:16.204> have,<00:17:16.463> you<00:17:16.624> have<00:17:16.802> to<00:17:16.948> think<00:17:17.109> about<00:17:17.336> that.

00:17:17.497 --> 00:17:17.562
You're—.

00:17:17.562 --> 00:17:18.225
It's<00:17:17.643> almost<00:17:17.837> a<00:17:17.853> requirement<00:17:18.063> for<00:17:18.112> the<00:17:18.160> job.

00:17:20.512 --> 00:17:24.039
To<00:17:20.673> be<00:17:20.833> thinking<00:17:21.137> about<00:17:21.939> the<00:17:22.099> world<00:17:22.292> around<00:17:22.692> you,<00:17:22.917> what's<00:17:23.157> happening<00:17:23.558> and<00:17:23.622> all<00:17:23.702> that<00:17:23.798> type<00:17:23.879> of<00:17:23.975> stuff.

00:17:24.119 --> 00:17:31.589
And<00:17:24.279> I<00:17:24.424> wonder,<00:17:25.065> you<00:17:25.161> know,<00:17:25.401> we're<00:17:25.786> in<00:17:25.962> a<00:17:26.043> crazy<00:17:26.507> year,<00:17:27.405> an<00:17:27.485> election<00:17:27.886> year<00:17:28.046> in<00:17:28.127> the<00:17:28.159> United<00:17:28.431> States,<00:17:28.832> election<00:17:29.168> year<00:17:29.329> in,<00:17:29.633> you<00:17:29.665> know,<00:17:29.810> a<00:17:29.826> number<00:17:30.210> of<00:17:30.355> countries<00:17:30.707> around<00:17:31.012> the<00:17:31.156> world.

00:17:32.134 --> 00:17:38.450
We're<00:17:32.759> in,<00:17:34.042> you<00:17:34.122> know,<00:17:34.442> an<00:17:34.539> interesting<00:17:35.020> political,<00:17:36.206> economic,<00:17:37.007> all<00:17:37.119> of<00:17:37.280> these<00:17:37.568> various<00:17:37.905> environments.

00:17:38.530 --> 00:17:42.922
As<00:17:38.626> you<00:17:38.867> think<00:17:39.043> about<00:17:39.348> that,<00:17:40.935> one,<00:17:41.175> I'd<00:17:41.271> love<00:17:41.512> to<00:17:41.592> like,<00:17:41.993> what's<00:17:42.153> your<00:17:42.233> take<00:17:42.554> on<00:17:42.714> that?

00:17:43.355 --> 00:17:44.686
Like,<00:17:43.756> where<00:17:43.852> do<00:17:43.900> you<00:17:44.061> think<00:17:44.221> we're<00:17:44.461> at?

00:17:45.183 --> 00:17:51.418
And<00:17:45.423> two,<00:17:45.744> like,<00:17:46.225> how<00:17:46.321> do<00:17:46.401> you<00:17:46.561> think<00:17:46.818> about<00:17:47.202> your<00:17:47.603> responsibility<00:17:48.389> as<00:17:48.501> a<00:17:48.565> CEO<00:17:49.591> in<00:17:50.408> being<00:17:50.649> part<00:17:50.809> of<00:17:50.873> that<00:17:50.970> conversation?

00:17:52.494 --> 00:17:58.955
Yeah,<00:17:52.878> I,<00:17:53.936> it,<00:17:54.498> it<00:17:54.642> is<00:17:54.754> a<00:17:54.818> question<00:17:55.283> I<00:17:55.444> hear<00:17:55.780> not<00:17:56.101> just<00:17:56.406> of<00:17:56.502> CEOs,<00:17:57.624> but<00:17:57.848> of<00:17:58.009> just<00:17:58.426> managers.

00:17:59.788 --> 00:18:04.518
Like,<00:18:00.494> I<00:18:00.574> think<00:18:00.895> the<00:18:00.991> pandemic<00:18:01.616> tran—<00:18:02.033> changed<00:18:02.738> how<00:18:02.915> we<00:18:03.235> engage<00:18:04.101> at<00:18:04.278> work.

00:18:05.544 --> 00:18:12.615
The<00:18:05.705> death<00:18:05.881> of<00:18:05.977> George<00:18:06.282> Floyd,<00:18:07.148> murder<00:18:07.324> of<00:18:07.420> George<00:18:07.725> Floyd<00:18:08.029> changed<00:18:08.510> how<00:18:09.007> we<00:18:09.152> engage<00:18:09.633> at<00:18:09.793> work<00:18:10.210> and<00:18:10.290> what<00:18:10.466> topics<00:18:11.156> are<00:18:11.492> talked<00:18:11.893> about<00:18:12.134> at<00:18:12.294> work.

00:18:13.016 --> 00:18:26.212
And<00:18:13.160> I<00:18:13.320> think<00:18:13.577> not<00:18:13.897> just<00:18:14.202> CEOs<00:18:14.923> having<00:18:15.180> to<00:18:15.340> look<00:18:15.597> and<00:18:15.741> understand<00:18:16.944> sociopolitical<00:18:17.889> events,<00:18:18.467> but<00:18:18.691> people<00:18:19.028> managers<00:18:19.509> are<00:18:19.589> having<00:18:19.974> to<00:18:20.070> navigate<00:18:20.952> Differences<00:18:22.074> of<00:18:22.171> opinion,<00:18:22.876> perspective,<00:18:23.598> background,<00:18:24.079> belief,<00:18:25.201> and<00:18:25.266> they're<00:18:25.442> coming<00:18:25.699> into<00:18:25.843> the<00:18:25.907> workplace.

00:18:26.260 --> 00:18:55.168
It's<00:18:26.404> one<00:18:26.500> of<00:18:26.565> the<00:18:26.645> reasons<00:18:26.982> why<00:18:27.126> one<00:18:27.286> of<00:18:27.366> our<00:18:27.463> practice<00:18:28.248> simulations<00:18:28.890> is<00:18:28.986> around<00:18:29.451> polarizing<00:18:30.012> and<00:18:30.093> divisive<00:18:30.494> topics<00:18:31.376> and<00:18:31.456> how<00:18:31.616> to<00:18:31.696> manage<00:18:32.097> it<00:18:32.242> and<00:18:32.322> how<00:18:32.418> to<00:18:33.220> rephrase<00:18:33.877> and<00:18:34.086> realign<00:18:34.807> and<00:18:34.968> reaffirm<00:18:35.625> and<00:18:35.770> ask<00:18:36.026> open-ended<00:18:36.507> questions<00:18:37.389> and<00:18:37.774> bring<00:18:38.031> teams<00:18:38.432> together<00:18:38.913> who<00:18:39.554> might<00:18:39.795> have<00:18:40.661> a<00:18:40.693> divisive<00:18:41.222> moment<00:18:41.559> come<00:18:41.864> in,<00:18:42.505> a<00:18:42.762> polarizing<00:18:43.307> topic,<00:18:44.205> whether<00:18:44.446> it's<00:18:44.638> someone<00:18:44.991> with<00:18:45.103> a<00:18:45.247> poster<00:18:45.648> behind<00:18:46.049> them<00:18:46.354> on<00:18:46.594> their<00:18:47.060> kind<00:18:47.268> of<00:18:47.413> video<00:18:47.734> chat<00:18:47.991> screen,<00:18:48.922> or<00:18:49.340> if<00:18:49.500> it's<00:18:49.645> someone<00:18:50.126> who<00:18:50.704> sends<00:18:51.009> a<00:18:51.041> Slack<00:18:51.603> to<00:18:51.748> a<00:18:51.989> channel<00:18:52.551> that<00:18:52.792> is<00:18:53.032> perceived<00:18:53.755> incorrectly,<00:18:54.542> all<00:18:54.654> of<00:18:54.718> those<00:18:54.943> things.

00:18:55.505 --> 00:18:57.095
So<00:18:56.067> I<00:18:56.099> don't<00:18:56.308> just<00:18:56.469> think<00:18:56.581> it's<00:18:56.709> CEOs.

00:18:57.271 --> 00:18:58.781
I<00:18:57.287> think<00:18:57.512> everyone's<00:18:57.914> trying<00:18:58.090> to<00:18:58.170> navigate<00:18:58.652> this.

00:18:58.973 --> 00:19:03.999
I<00:18:59.054> think<00:18:59.937> what<00:19:01.205> is—<00:19:01.928> I<00:19:02.024> do<00:19:02.249> believe<00:19:02.506> CEOs<00:19:02.987> have<00:19:03.164> a<00:19:03.212> responsibility.

00:19:04.994 --> 00:19:05.813
And<00:19:05.075> that's<00:19:05.332> not<00:19:05.556> just<00:19:05.717> me.

00:19:05.878 --> 00:19:15.479
It's<00:19:06.022> actually,<00:19:06.600> I<00:19:06.680> think<00:19:06.841> there<00:19:06.937> was<00:19:07.082> a<00:19:07.162> poll<00:19:07.387> that<00:19:07.547> said<00:19:07.708> like<00:19:07.820> 60%<00:19:08.222> of<00:19:08.511> the<00:19:08.607> workforce<00:19:09.089> believes,<00:19:10.614> particularly<00:19:11.160> younger<00:19:11.401> generations<00:19:12.043> believe<00:19:12.445> that<00:19:12.605> their<00:19:12.718> CEOs<00:19:13.199> should<00:19:13.408> take<00:19:13.585> a<00:19:13.649> stand<00:19:13.970> on<00:19:14.050> some<00:19:14.211> of<00:19:14.243> these<00:19:14.339> social<00:19:14.692> political<00:19:15.014> issues.

00:19:15.897 --> 00:19:18.995
And<00:19:16.394> I<00:19:16.539> think<00:19:17.277> we<00:19:17.438> know<00:19:17.823> that<00:19:17.984> there<00:19:18.144> is<00:19:18.305> power<00:19:18.722> in<00:19:18.867> that.

00:19:19.509 --> 00:19:40.413
I<00:19:19.605> was<00:19:20.151> talking<00:19:20.408> to<00:19:20.890> a<00:19:20.970> leader<00:19:21.355> earlier<00:19:21.612> today<00:19:22.800> who<00:19:23.699> is<00:19:23.860> a<00:19:23.940> DE&I<00:19:24.486> leader<00:19:24.727> and<00:19:24.823> was<00:19:24.968> like,<00:19:25.289> I<00:19:26.172> was<00:19:26.509> sharing<00:19:26.830> that<00:19:26.975> she<00:19:27.055> was<00:19:27.151> trying<00:19:27.328> to<00:19:27.392> take<00:19:27.617> on<00:19:27.713> voting<00:19:28.018> rights<00:19:28.291> to<00:19:28.371> make<00:19:28.516> sure<00:19:29.238> that<00:19:29.624> everyone<00:19:30.121> in<00:19:30.266> her<00:19:30.426> workforce,<00:19:30.988> which<00:19:31.406> has<00:19:31.631> a<00:19:31.647> large<00:19:33.413> kind<00:19:33.637> of<00:19:34.360> in-the-field,<00:19:35.163> on-the-ground<00:19:35.644> workforce,<00:19:37.170> has<00:19:37.426> the<00:19:37.571> opportunity<00:19:38.310> to<00:19:38.550> vote<00:19:39.193> and<00:19:39.417> to<00:19:39.674> participate.

00:19:40.557 --> 00:19:41.649
And<00:19:40.718> they're<00:19:40.878> a<00:19:41.023> global<00:19:41.280> company.

00:19:41.922 --> 00:19:44.775
And<00:19:42.002> I<00:19:42.098> think<00:19:42.306> like<00:19:42.868> those<00:19:43.204> sorts<00:19:43.445> of<00:19:43.605> things<00:19:44.150> are<00:19:44.246> powerful.

00:19:45.529 --> 00:19:58.867
They're—<00:19:46.250> when<00:19:46.555> you<00:19:46.795> are<00:19:46.972> a<00:19:47.036> large<00:19:47.356> enterprise<00:19:48.254> and<00:19:48.398> you<00:19:48.479> have<00:19:48.655> thousands<00:19:49.216> and<00:19:49.360> tens<00:19:49.697> of<00:19:49.841> thousands<00:19:50.258> or<00:19:50.322> hundreds<00:19:50.739> of<00:19:50.819> thousands<00:19:51.236> of<00:19:51.300> people<00:19:51.685> working<00:19:52.102> for<00:19:52.182> you<00:19:52.262> every<00:19:52.502> day,<00:19:52.903> you<00:19:53.063> have<00:19:53.224> a<00:19:53.304> real<00:19:54.089> opportunity<00:19:54.667> to<00:19:54.891> not<00:19:55.131> just<00:19:55.628> transform<00:19:56.414> kind<00:19:56.831> of<00:19:56.895> your<00:19:57.135> business,<00:19:57.777> but<00:19:57.857> to<00:19:57.937> transform<00:19:58.354> communities.

00:19:58.915 --> 00:20:03.548
And<00:19:59.011> I<00:19:59.155> think<00:19:59.332> CEOs<00:19:59.797> really<00:20:00.518> are<00:20:00.598> starting<00:20:00.983> to<00:20:01.015> see<00:20:01.223> that,<00:20:01.304> and<00:20:01.480> the<00:20:01.624> best<00:20:01.945> are<00:20:02.041> actually<00:20:02.682> taking<00:20:02.907> stands<00:20:03.243> on<00:20:03.323> that.

00:20:04.927 --> 00:20:09.947
How<00:20:05.071> do<00:20:05.151> you<00:20:05.247> think—<00:20:06.129> it's<00:20:06.289> interesting<00:20:06.690> to<00:20:06.770> me<00:20:07.556> to<00:20:07.588> see<00:20:08.294> like<00:20:08.535> DEI<00:20:09.176> become<00:20:09.497> political.

00:20:10.300 --> 00:20:11.615
Like,<00:20:10.444> that's<00:20:10.604> like<00:20:10.765> a<00:20:10.861> political<00:20:11.262> thing<00:20:11.503> now.

00:20:11.888 --> 00:20:15.354
Like,<00:20:12.065> that's<00:20:12.241> actually<00:20:12.530> like<00:20:12.706> part<00:20:12.931> of<00:20:13.027> this<00:20:13.188> election,<00:20:13.894> I<00:20:13.910> would<00:20:13.990> even<00:20:14.231> say.

00:20:15.739 --> 00:20:19.879
Which<00:20:17.103> is<00:20:17.279> kind<00:20:17.841> of<00:20:18.066> an<00:20:18.162> interesting<00:20:19.670> thing.

00:20:19.927 --> 00:20:31.336
Like,<00:20:20.087> DEI,<00:20:20.970> as<00:20:21.114> I've<00:20:21.275> experienced<00:20:21.612> it,<00:20:21.692> probably<00:20:21.949> as<00:20:22.157> you<00:20:22.270> experienced<00:20:22.815> it,<00:20:22.895> like<00:20:23.040> kind<00:20:23.216> of<00:20:23.297> came<00:20:23.537> from<00:20:23.778> the<00:20:24.580> tech<00:20:25.222> business<00:20:25.768> community<00:20:26.506> trying<00:20:26.907> to,<00:20:27.372> you<00:20:27.404> know,<00:20:28.110> figure<00:20:28.351> out<00:20:28.495> how<00:20:28.592> do<00:20:28.736> we<00:20:29.474> make<00:20:29.859> equal<00:20:30.100> opportunities,<00:20:30.758> things<00:20:30.983> like<00:20:31.159> this.

00:20:31.801 --> 00:20:38.092
As<00:20:31.897> you<00:20:32.042> think<00:20:32.218> about<00:20:33.325> DEI<00:20:33.710> and<00:20:34.031> where<00:20:34.208> it<00:20:34.288> stands<00:20:34.705> now,<00:20:36.198> I<00:20:36.390> mean,<00:20:36.535> I<00:20:36.615> guess<00:20:36.840> just<00:20:37.321> that's<00:20:37.803> the<00:20:37.883> question.

00:20:38.140 --> 00:20:39.681
What<00:20:38.236> do<00:20:38.284> you<00:20:38.381> think<00:20:38.686> about<00:20:39.023> where<00:20:39.167> it<00:20:39.199> stands<00:20:39.600> now?

00:20:40.612 --> 00:20:47.578
Yeah,<00:20:40.933> I<00:20:41.029> think<00:20:41.206> it's<00:20:41.350> unfortunate<00:20:41.992> that<00:20:42.137> there<00:20:42.217> have<00:20:42.313> been<00:20:42.474> so<00:20:42.730> many<00:20:43.019> attacks<00:20:43.678> on<00:20:44.079> diversity,<00:20:44.625> equity,<00:20:44.865> and<00:20:44.962> inclusion<00:20:45.588> as<00:20:46.470> an<00:20:46.872> acronym,<00:20:47.289> right?

00:20:47.995 --> 00:20:55.893
Because<00:20:48.172> I<00:20:48.332> think<00:20:49.119> there<00:20:49.231> would<00:20:49.376> be<00:20:49.616> fewer<00:20:50.002> attacks<00:20:50.499> on<00:20:50.580> what<00:20:50.804> the<00:20:51.206> goals<00:20:51.687> and<00:20:51.783> outcomes<00:20:52.570> are<00:20:52.907> really<00:20:53.613> of<00:20:54.352> diversity,<00:20:54.817> equity,<00:20:55.058> and<00:20:55.138> inclusion<00:20:55.700> work.

00:20:55.973 --> 00:21:00.531
And<00:20:56.117> that<00:20:56.342> is<00:20:56.519> that<00:20:57.080> we<00:20:57.161> create<00:20:57.546> more<00:20:57.803> value<00:20:58.124> for<00:20:58.268> everyone<00:20:58.846> and<00:20:58.942> we<00:20:59.071> cause<00:20:59.392> less<00:20:59.632> harm<00:20:59.889> along<00:21:00.194> the<00:21:00.291> way.

00:21:01.334 --> 00:21:04.463
I<00:21:01.414> don't<00:21:01.639> think<00:21:01.799> there's<00:21:02.040> anyone<00:21:02.297> who<00:21:02.602> wouldn't<00:21:02.843> get<00:21:03.003> on<00:21:03.244> board<00:21:03.886> with<00:21:04.062> that.

00:21:05.425 --> 00:21:10.410
And<00:21:05.569> I<00:21:05.665> think<00:21:05.970> part<00:21:06.787> of<00:21:06.931> why<00:21:07.092> we've<00:21:07.204> seen<00:21:07.364> this<00:21:07.589> pushback<00:21:08.005> is<00:21:08.086> that<00:21:08.470> there<00:21:09.256> were<00:21:09.432> strides<00:21:09.913> being<00:21:10.073> made.

00:21:10.794 --> 00:21:23.618
And<00:21:10.875> I<00:21:11.035> think<00:21:11.420> when<00:21:13.023> you<00:21:13.215> see<00:21:13.760> that<00:21:13.936> there<00:21:15.363> is<00:21:15.523> diversity<00:21:16.228> in<00:21:16.325> a<00:21:16.405> candidate<00:21:16.805> pool<00:21:17.046> for<00:21:17.591> a<00:21:17.751> role<00:21:17.992> where<00:21:18.168> there<00:21:18.280> didn't<00:21:18.553> used<00:21:18.729> to<00:21:18.825> be,<00:21:18.969> where<00:21:19.066> there's,<00:21:19.675> you<00:21:19.771> know,<00:21:19.915> maybe<00:21:20.236> less<00:21:20.957> competition,<00:21:22.015> that<00:21:22.255> can<00:21:22.416> be<00:21:23.297> scary.

00:21:23.842 --> 00:21:25.846
It<00:21:24.179> can<00:21:24.419> feel<00:21:24.804> like<00:21:24.980> you<00:21:25.125> are<00:21:25.221> losing<00:21:25.541> power.

00:21:25.926 --> 00:21:35.247
But<00:21:26.022> I<00:21:26.183> think<00:21:26.808> what<00:21:27.770> we<00:21:28.026> have<00:21:28.571> not<00:21:28.924> done<00:21:29.372> as<00:21:29.533> well<00:21:29.805> is<00:21:29.966> tell<00:21:30.190> the<00:21:30.254> story<00:21:31.955> of<00:21:32.099> how<00:21:32.501> actually<00:21:34.042> DEI<00:21:34.428> benefits<00:21:34.749> us<00:21:35.006> all.

00:21:35.568 --> 00:21:37.478
It<00:21:35.712> actually<00:21:35.969> makes<00:21:36.595> all<00:21:36.676> of<00:21:36.708> our<00:21:36.852> lives<00:21:37.238> better.

00:21:37.575 --> 00:21:39.229
It<00:21:37.655> makes<00:21:38.040> all<00:21:38.201> of<00:21:38.281> our<00:21:38.458> workplaces<00:21:39.020> better.

00:21:39.277 --> 00:21:41.091
It<00:21:39.341> makes<00:21:39.566> all<00:21:39.630> of<00:21:39.678> our<00:21:39.823> products<00:21:40.144> and<00:21:40.224> services<00:21:40.786> better.

00:21:41.573 --> 00:21:56.860
And<00:21:41.894> I<00:21:41.991> think<00:21:42.151> we<00:21:42.312> learn<00:21:42.617> some<00:21:42.793> of<00:21:42.858> these<00:21:43.018> lessons<00:21:43.420> when<00:21:43.901> you<00:21:43.982> think<00:21:44.094> about<00:21:44.319> designing<00:21:44.720> at<00:21:44.801> the<00:21:44.897> margins<00:21:45.459> that,<00:21:46.149> oh,<00:21:46.551> you<00:21:46.631> know,<00:21:46.824> if<00:21:46.968> you<00:21:47.129> put<00:21:47.434> in<00:21:47.771> kind<00:21:48.157> of<00:21:48.237> slopes<00:21:48.654> and<00:21:48.799> sidewalks,<00:21:49.377> it<00:21:49.441> actually<00:21:49.698> helps<00:21:50.244> not<00:21:50.437> just<00:21:50.662> folks<00:21:51.224> who<00:21:51.689> are<00:21:51.882> in<00:21:52.026> wheelchairs<00:21:52.588> or<00:21:52.669> moms<00:21:53.054> who<00:21:53.150> are,<00:21:53.696> or<00:21:53.873> dads<00:21:54.419> or<00:21:55.318> siblings<00:21:56.105> rolling<00:21:56.442> strollers.

00:21:56.924 --> 00:21:58.835
It<00:21:56.988> actually<00:21:57.245> helps<00:21:57.630> a<00:21:57.807> lot<00:21:58.112> of<00:21:58.144> different<00:21:58.530> people.

00:21:59.332 --> 00:22:09.085
And<00:22:01.581> I<00:22:01.662> think<00:22:01.903> we've<00:22:02.128> kind<00:22:02.320> of<00:22:02.465> lost<00:22:02.947> that<00:22:03.734> in<00:22:04.554> the<00:22:05.036> kind<00:22:05.663> of<00:22:05.904> back<00:22:06.145> and<00:22:06.241> forth<00:22:06.546> messaging<00:22:07.109> of<00:22:07.350> what<00:22:07.671> we're<00:22:07.832> really<00:22:08.089> trying<00:22:08.266> to<00:22:08.346> solve<00:22:08.716> for<00:22:08.909> here.

00:22:09.761 --> 00:22:22.613
And<00:22:10.098> my<00:22:10.259> hope,<00:22:11.610> my<00:22:11.770> hope<00:22:12.012> is<00:22:12.172> that<00:22:13.298> even<00:22:13.539> with<00:22:13.652> the<00:22:13.796> politicization<00:22:15.002> of<00:22:15.163> DEI,<00:22:16.208> that<00:22:17.077> workplaces,<00:22:17.803> leaders,<00:22:19.030> community<00:22:19.530> organizations<00:22:20.176> are<00:22:20.241> still<00:22:20.467> able<00:22:20.660> to<00:22:20.725> make<00:22:20.886> good<00:22:21.112> on<00:22:21.274> what<00:22:21.451> we<00:22:21.677> were<00:22:21.838> trying<00:22:22.161> to<00:22:22.274> achieve.

00:22:22.742 --> 00:22:41.231
And<00:22:22.888> whether<00:22:23.146> it's<00:22:23.372> called<00:22:24.114> inclusive<00:22:24.598> cultures,<00:22:25.405> whether<00:22:25.648> it's<00:22:25.874> called<00:22:26.100> cultures<00:22:26.563> at<00:22:26.735> work<00:22:26.975> for<00:22:27.319> all,<00:22:27.802> I<00:22:27.882> care<00:22:28.123> less<00:22:28.364> about<00:22:28.685> the<00:22:28.846> language<00:22:29.312> we're<00:22:29.489> using<00:22:30.212> and<00:22:30.357> more<00:22:30.614> about<00:22:30.919> ensuring<00:22:31.658> that<00:22:32.301> there<00:22:32.461> are<00:22:32.767> equitable<00:22:33.185> outcomes,<00:22:33.506> that<00:22:33.651> there<00:22:33.892> are<00:22:34.390> inclusive<00:22:34.856> outcomes,<00:22:35.338> that<00:22:36.382> we<00:22:36.543> are<00:22:36.720> able<00:22:36.864> to<00:22:36.945> bring<00:22:37.121> the<00:22:37.170> diversity<00:22:37.917> of<00:22:38.031> society<00:22:38.518> and<00:22:38.648> perspectives<00:22:39.151> into<00:22:40.045> everything<00:22:40.370> we're<00:22:40.532> building<00:22:40.776> and<00:22:40.857> creating.

00:22:42.810 --> 00:22:49.992
What<00:22:42.890> are<00:22:42.939> some<00:22:43.165> products,<00:22:44.039> apps,<00:22:44.395> or<00:22:44.524> tools<00:22:45.026> that<00:22:45.187> you<00:22:45.430> use<00:22:45.915> like<00:22:46.077> on<00:22:46.223> a<00:22:46.320> daily<00:22:46.724> basis<00:22:47.128> or<00:22:47.695> quite<00:22:48.261> consistently<00:22:48.908> that<00:22:49.053> you<00:22:49.215> couldn't<00:22:49.474> live<00:22:49.636> without?

00:22:51.930 --> 00:22:53.907
I<00:22:52.358> think<00:22:52.622> apps<00:22:52.869> and<00:22:52.951> tools<00:22:53.215> I<00:22:53.281> can't<00:22:53.528> live<00:22:53.676> without.

00:22:54.555 --> 00:23:05.681
I<00:22:54.572> mean,<00:22:56.028> I'm<00:22:56.254> on<00:22:56.481> email<00:22:56.740> all<00:22:56.966> day<00:22:57.128> long,<00:22:57.549> I'm<00:22:57.727> on<00:22:57.937> Slack<00:22:58.423> all<00:22:58.520> day<00:22:58.617> long,<00:22:59.490> but<00:22:59.571> I<00:22:59.717> think<00:22:59.960> the<00:23:00.138> tools,<00:23:01.416> like,<00:23:02.565> I<00:23:02.710> do<00:23:02.969> love<00:23:03.180> listening<00:23:04.261> to<00:23:04.503> books,<00:23:04.971> to<00:23:05.068> podcasts.

00:23:05.746 --> 00:23:12.749
So<00:23:05.811> like,<00:23:06.359> whether<00:23:06.602> it's<00:23:06.827> my<00:23:07.473> audiobooks<00:23:08.070> or<00:23:08.135> whether<00:23:08.458> it's<00:23:08.700> my<00:23:08.926> like<00:23:09.249> podcast<00:23:09.894> app,<00:23:10.056> like<00:23:10.621> those<00:23:10.944> are<00:23:11.525> daily<00:23:11.993> uses<00:23:12.492> for<00:23:12.589> me.

00:23:14.404 --> 00:23:17.633
I<00:23:14.645> am<00:23:15.689> a<00:23:16.267> sucker<00:23:16.733> for<00:23:16.846> step<00:23:17.231> counts.

00:23:19.014 --> 00:23:25.507
So,<00:23:19.705> you<00:23:19.802> know,<00:23:19.962> those<00:23:20.268> walks<00:23:20.589> with<00:23:20.685> Scott<00:23:21.167> and<00:23:21.231> my<00:23:21.408> husband,<00:23:21.810> it's<00:23:21.970> like,<00:23:22.462> Did<00:23:22.622> we<00:23:22.782> get<00:23:23.087> to,<00:23:23.568> are<00:23:23.648> we<00:23:23.808> above<00:23:24.209> 10,000?

00:23:25.948 --> 00:23:27.543
Are<00:23:25.968> we<00:23:25.988> approaching<00:23:26.549> 20,000?

00:23:27.655 --> 00:23:32.689
I<00:23:27.832> love<00:23:28.216> like<00:23:29.419> mid-walk,<00:23:30.012> I'm<00:23:30.220> checking,<00:23:30.781> I'm<00:23:31.102> adding<00:23:31.519> loops<00:23:31.919> if<00:23:32.080> we<00:23:32.240> need<00:23:32.480> to.

00:23:34.083 --> 00:23:37.690
But<00:23:34.404> truthfully,<00:23:34.949> I<00:23:35.029> like<00:23:35.206> have<00:23:35.446> no<00:23:35.686> social<00:23:36.023> media<00:23:36.712> apps<00:23:37.033> on<00:23:37.081> my<00:23:37.354> phone.

00:23:37.850 --> 00:23:43.509
I<00:23:37.995> like,<00:23:38.652> I<00:23:38.876> do<00:23:39.117> try<00:23:39.453> to<00:23:40.031> stay<00:23:40.720> off<00:23:41.521> my<00:23:41.618> phone<00:23:41.938> as<00:23:42.082> much<00:23:42.259> as<00:23:42.403> possible,<00:23:43.060> truthfully.

00:23:44.904 --> 00:23:45.866
That<00:23:45.064> is<00:23:45.224> very<00:23:45.529> healthy.

00:23:46.250 --> 00:23:47.517
Has<00:23:46.587> that<00:23:46.747> always<00:23:46.988> been<00:23:47.148> the<00:23:47.228> case?

00:23:47.629 --> 00:23:50.310
Like<00:23:47.853> how,<00:23:49.486> How<00:23:49.647> do<00:23:49.728> you<00:23:49.890> focus?

00:23:50.439 --> 00:23:55.028
I<00:23:50.455> mean,<00:23:50.617> obviously<00:23:51.263> these<00:23:51.489> walks<00:23:51.748> are<00:23:51.893> critical<00:23:52.249> and<00:23:52.394> important<00:23:52.863> for<00:23:53.024> you,<00:23:53.590> as<00:23:54.091> they<00:23:54.172> should<00:23:54.414> be<00:23:54.559> for<00:23:54.721> everyone.

00:23:55.832 --> 00:24:02.081
But<00:23:56.315> to<00:23:56.943> have<00:23:57.346> that<00:23:57.684> discipline<00:23:58.312> to<00:23:58.344> not<00:23:58.618> have<00:23:58.747> any<00:23:58.972> of<00:23:59.053> these<00:23:59.359> things<00:24:00.084> on<00:24:00.486> your<00:24:00.744> phone<00:24:01.050> is<00:24:01.146> actually<00:24:01.388> pretty<00:24:01.614> remarkable.

00:24:02.576 --> 00:24:03.884
So<00:24:02.596> how<00:24:02.757> do<00:24:02.805> you<00:24:02.982> think<00:24:03.095> about<00:24:03.321> your<00:24:03.385> mental<00:24:03.707> health?

00:24:03.965 --> 00:24:05.222
How<00:24:04.078> do<00:24:04.190> you<00:24:04.223> maintain<00:24:04.674> your<00:24:04.754> mental<00:24:05.077> health?

00:24:05.966 --> 00:24:07.390
And<00:24:06.371> what<00:24:06.549> went<00:24:06.711> into<00:24:06.856> your<00:24:07.034> decision?

00:24:07.439 --> 00:24:09.186
Like,<00:24:07.617> I'm<00:24:07.762> just<00:24:07.924> not<00:24:08.038> even<00:24:08.118> going<00:24:08.248> to<00:24:08.394> put<00:24:08.491> these<00:24:08.636> things<00:24:08.814> on<00:24:08.879> my<00:24:08.976> phone.

00:24:10.173 --> 00:24:11.371
I<00:24:10.901> am.

00:24:11.953 --> 00:24:16.937
I<00:24:12.196> have<00:24:12.697> found<00:24:13.264> that<00:24:13.490> when<00:24:13.733> I<00:24:14.241> download<00:24:14.720> Instagram,<00:24:15.713> I<00:24:15.878> will<00:24:16.060> be<00:24:16.457> on<00:24:16.722> Instagram.

00:24:17.516 --> 00:24:27.688
And<00:24:18.478> I'm<00:24:18.815> grateful<00:24:19.457> for<00:24:19.618> the<00:24:19.762> web<00:24:19.938> developers<00:24:20.564> who<00:24:20.644> have<00:24:20.741> made<00:24:20.965> the<00:24:21.062> web<00:24:21.286> experience<00:24:21.928> much<00:24:22.185> less<00:24:22.425> enjoyable<00:24:23.388> and<00:24:23.693> easy<00:24:24.094> to<00:24:24.271> use,<00:24:25.057> because<00:24:25.217> it<00:24:25.297> allows<00:24:25.779> me<00:24:25.875> to<00:24:25.971> say,<00:24:26.051> I'm<00:24:26.372> going<00:24:26.870> to<00:24:26.982> hop<00:24:27.383> off.

00:24:28.843 --> 00:24:31.186
But<00:24:28.907> I<00:24:29.084> think,<00:24:29.405> you<00:24:29.501> know,<00:24:29.966> that<00:24:30.191> is<00:24:30.367> part<00:24:30.528> of<00:24:30.592> my<00:24:30.688> mental<00:24:31.073> health.

00:24:31.250 --> 00:24:39.994
Like,<00:24:31.972> I<00:24:32.116> don't<00:24:32.614> love<00:24:33.175> looking<00:24:33.496> up<00:24:33.657> and<00:24:33.737> being<00:24:33.833> like,<00:24:34.042> have<00:24:34.202> I<00:24:34.298> just<00:24:34.491> spent<00:24:34.619> like<00:24:34.924> 30<00:24:35.197> minutes<00:24:35.518> like<00:24:36.127> doing<00:24:36.384> nothing,<00:24:36.705> like<00:24:37.106> just<00:24:37.218> seeing<00:24:38.374> lives<00:24:38.775> that<00:24:38.967> don't<00:24:39.176> even<00:24:39.352> feel<00:24:39.657> real.

00:24:40.074 --> 00:24:42.032
So<00:24:40.540> absolutely,<00:24:41.021> that's<00:24:41.262> part<00:24:41.374> of<00:24:41.438> my<00:24:41.583> mental<00:24:41.904> health.

00:24:42.545 --> 00:24:47.342
I<00:24:42.626> think<00:24:42.802> that<00:24:43.043> daily,<00:24:43.364> like<00:24:43.588> my<00:24:43.749> morning<00:24:44.086> routine<00:24:44.663> is<00:24:44.808> so<00:24:45.273> critical<00:24:45.690> to<00:24:45.770> just<00:24:45.995> like<00:24:46.396> feeling<00:24:46.652> grounded.

00:24:48.095 --> 00:24:50.435
I<00:24:48.319> do—<00:24:49.201> I<00:24:49.698> go<00:24:49.794> to<00:24:50.019> therapy.

00:24:50.660 --> 00:24:54.106
We<00:24:50.740> do<00:24:51.061> couples<00:24:51.686> therapy<00:24:52.247> with<00:24:52.423> my<00:24:52.664> partner,<00:24:52.984> with,<00:24:53.385> with<00:24:53.481> my<00:24:53.786> founder.

00:24:54.203 --> 00:24:59.476
Essentially,<00:24:54.731> we<00:24:54.812> do<00:24:54.908> like<00:24:55.132> executive<00:24:55.629> coach<00:24:56.286> sessions<00:24:57.216> together<00:24:57.649> so<00:24:57.857> we<00:24:58.018> can<00:24:58.178> work<00:24:58.418> on<00:24:58.450> our<00:24:58.755> partnership.

00:24:59.797 --> 00:25:06.065
So<00:25:00.422> I'm<00:25:00.534> like<00:25:00.695> a<00:25:00.839> big<00:25:01.079> proponent<00:25:01.865> of<00:25:02.025> having<00:25:02.747> all<00:25:02.907> of<00:25:03.003> the<00:25:03.083> supports<00:25:03.548> that<00:25:03.628> you<00:25:03.789> can<00:25:04.622> to<00:25:04.911> kind<00:25:05.103> of<00:25:05.327> build<00:25:05.504> around<00:25:05.872> you.

00:25:06.450 --> 00:25:07.828
Gotten<00:25:06.626> into<00:25:06.995> acupuncture.

00:25:08.277 --> 00:25:12.429
I<00:25:08.774> find<00:25:09.014> that<00:25:09.255> incredibly<00:25:10.441> relaxing<00:25:11.659> and<00:25:11.804> grounding.

00:25:13.600 --> 00:25:19.124
So<00:25:14.050> I<00:25:14.371> definitely<00:25:14.788> do<00:25:15.174> a<00:25:15.334> lot<00:25:15.575> of<00:25:15.672> different<00:25:16.057> things<00:25:16.394> to<00:25:16.555> just<00:25:16.956> feel<00:25:17.197> well,<00:25:17.663> exercise<00:25:18.225> being<00:25:18.401> another<00:25:18.706> one<00:25:18.819> of<00:25:18.947> them.

00:25:20.569 --> 00:25:27.842
Finally,<00:25:20.970> we<00:25:21.211> end<00:25:21.372> every<00:25:21.612> interview<00:25:21.901> with<00:25:21.998> the<00:25:22.030> same<00:25:22.255> question,<00:25:22.817> and<00:25:22.961> that<00:25:23.122> is,<00:25:23.234> at<00:25:23.314> CEO.com,<00:25:24.246> we<00:25:24.342> believe<00:25:24.599> the<00:25:24.744> chances<00:25:25.209> one<00:25:25.450> gives<00:25:25.932> is<00:25:26.012> just<00:25:26.269> as<00:25:26.333> important<00:25:26.654> as<00:25:26.735> the<00:25:26.831> chances<00:25:27.232> one<00:25:27.393> takes.

00:25:28.517 --> 00:25:31.889
When<00:25:28.742> you<00:25:28.999> hear<00:25:29.239> that,<00:25:29.544> who<00:25:29.705> gave<00:25:29.962> you<00:25:30.122> a<00:25:30.203> chance<00:25:30.765> to<00:25:30.845> get<00:25:31.006> you<00:25:31.102> to<00:25:31.230> where<00:25:31.391> you<00:25:31.568> are<00:25:31.728> today?

00:25:33.334 --> 00:25:35.084
So<00:25:33.591> many<00:25:33.815> people<00:25:34.201> have<00:25:34.361> given<00:25:34.602> me<00:25:34.683> a<00:25:34.699> chance.

00:25:35.180 --> 00:25:36.818
It's<00:25:35.277> like<00:25:35.501> hard<00:25:35.823> to<00:25:35.983> name<00:25:36.288> just<00:25:36.609> one.

00:25:42.177 --> 00:25:45.818
I<00:25:42.305> think<00:25:42.626> one<00:25:42.882> that<00:25:43.123> really<00:25:43.668> stood<00:25:43.925> out<00:25:44.069> to<00:25:44.150> me<00:25:44.246> is<00:25:44.326> when<00:25:44.438> I<00:25:44.454> was<00:25:44.647> quite<00:25:44.951> young,<00:25:45.513> actually.

00:25:46.010 --> 00:25:58.328
I<00:25:46.395> had<00:25:46.587> a<00:25:46.652> 4th<00:25:46.972> grade<00:25:47.293> math<00:25:47.598> teacher,<00:25:48.640> um,<00:25:49.522> and<00:25:50.725> I<00:25:50.806> had<00:25:50.966> been<00:25:51.527> really<00:25:51.768> high<00:25:51.944> performing<00:25:52.345> in<00:25:52.426> math,<00:25:52.971> and<00:25:54.094> I—<00:25:54.992> there<00:25:55.136> was<00:25:55.232> like<00:25:55.377> a<00:25:55.457> competitive<00:25:57.157> edge<00:25:57.381> in<00:25:57.478> me<00:25:57.638> in<00:25:57.718> the<00:25:57.815> math<00:25:58.103> class.

00:25:58.504 --> 00:26:07.149
And,<00:25:59.001> and<00:25:59.082> then<00:26:00.028> I<00:26:00.204> like<00:26:00.429> kind<00:26:00.782> of<00:26:01.391> missed<00:26:01.985> something,<00:26:02.450> like<00:26:02.674> they—<00:26:02.915> he<00:26:02.995> had<00:26:03.171> this—<00:26:03.653> I<00:26:03.717> like<00:26:03.877> just<00:26:04.054> didn't<00:26:04.294> understand<00:26:04.695> the<00:26:04.775> concept,<00:26:05.192> and<00:26:05.321> I<00:26:05.417> did<00:26:05.658> really<00:26:05.898> poorly<00:26:06.219> on<00:26:06.379> one,<00:26:06.764> one<00:26:06.925> test.

00:26:07.663 --> 00:26:10.520
And<00:26:07.727> I<00:26:07.743> remember<00:26:08.128> he<00:26:08.208> pulled<00:26:08.546> me<00:26:08.706> into<00:26:08.931> his<00:26:09.107> room<00:26:09.412> and<00:26:09.509> he<00:26:09.653> was<00:26:09.814> like,<00:26:10.054> what<00:26:10.151> happened?

00:26:10.568 --> 00:26:12.318
And<00:26:10.697> I<00:26:10.713> was<00:26:10.857> like,<00:26:11.098> honestly,<00:26:11.981> I<00:26:12.013> don't<00:26:12.222> know.

00:26:12.398 --> 00:26:14.405
I<00:26:12.559> thought<00:26:12.783> I,<00:26:12.944> I'm<00:26:13.345> really<00:26:13.586> confused<00:26:13.987> myself.

00:26:15.031 --> 00:26:24.855
Um,<00:26:15.769> and<00:26:15.849> he<00:26:16.074> was<00:26:16.251> like,<00:26:16.973> well,<00:26:17.134> we<00:26:17.230> need<00:26:17.374> to<00:26:17.455> figure<00:26:17.679> this<00:26:17.856> out<00:26:18.097> because<00:26:18.803> you<00:26:19.204> are<00:26:20.103> like,<00:26:20.890> you,<00:26:21.211> you<00:26:21.452> are<00:26:21.692> high<00:26:21.853> performing<00:26:22.174> in<00:26:22.270> math<00:26:22.591> and<00:26:22.688> I<00:26:22.832> want<00:26:23.217> you<00:26:23.554> to<00:26:23.876> know<00:26:24.052> that<00:26:24.213> about<00:26:24.502> yourself.

00:26:25.063 --> 00:26:27.343
And<00:26:25.160> I<00:26:25.224> want<00:26:25.465> you<00:26:25.497> to<00:26:25.625> come<00:26:25.802> back<00:26:26.364> and<00:26:26.444> retake<00:26:26.829> this<00:26:27.006> test.

00:26:27.792 --> 00:26:35.722
And<00:26:27.873> I<00:26:27.953> think<00:26:28.145> it<00:26:28.274> is<00:26:28.370> one<00:26:28.467> of<00:26:28.531> those<00:26:28.772> things<00:26:29.076> where,<00:26:30.120> uh,<00:26:30.537> I<00:26:30.601> think<00:26:30.842> a<00:26:30.939> lot<00:26:31.195> of<00:26:31.324> times<00:26:31.821> people<00:26:32.142> can<00:26:32.303> let<00:26:32.624> one<00:26:32.785> of<00:26:32.849> those<00:26:33.330> one<00:26:33.732> tests<00:26:34.069> fly<00:26:34.310> by,<00:26:35.016> not<00:26:35.192> check<00:26:35.497> in.

00:26:35.818 --> 00:26:41.289
And<00:26:35.915> I<00:26:36.059> think<00:26:36.236> a<00:26:36.252> teacher<00:26:36.637> can<00:26:36.798> be<00:26:36.894> so<00:26:37.199> powerful<00:26:38.082> for<00:26:38.226> transforming<00:26:39.766> your<00:26:40.166> perspective<00:26:40.648> of<00:26:40.808> yourself.

00:26:41.369 --> 00:26:42.668
Like,<00:26:41.594> I<00:26:41.690> felt<00:26:41.946> important.

00:26:43.053 --> 00:26:46.212
I<00:26:43.133> felt<00:26:43.454> like<00:26:43.759> I<00:26:43.839> was<00:26:44.095> being<00:26:44.336> taken<00:26:44.737> care<00:26:45.041> of<00:26:45.298> and<00:26:45.458> looked<00:26:45.779> after.

00:26:46.581 --> 00:26:48.281
And<00:26:46.725> I<00:26:46.805> think<00:26:46.966> that<00:26:47.062> can<00:26:47.222> go<00:26:47.399> a<00:26:47.527> really<00:26:47.864> long<00:26:48.088> way.

00:26:48.890 --> 00:26:51.889
