# The service business

Graig Paglieri's days usually start on a plane and end in a hotel room. The day he sat down with the CEO.com Podcast was an exception. He was home in Tampa, working through Randstad's monthly financial close, holding one-on-ones with his sales executives, and finishing with a planning call for an executive forum in San Francisco a couple of months out.

That is about as unscripted as his calendar gets. He plans months in advance, anchors the schedule with recurring commitments, and aims to spend half his time with clients or the teams serving them. "Very rarely would it be off the seat of my pants," he said.

Paglieri was an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps out of college. "I kind of got thrust into that by being an officer in the Marine Corps and just really, really valuing and appreciating the honor and privilege of serving others and being responsible for others' success," he told the CEO.com Podcast. From there, he worked on mergers and integrations in the energy sector at Arthur Andersen and Scott Madden & Associates, then served as chief delivery officer at Kforce before [joining Randstad U.S. in 2016](https://huntscanlon.com/randstad-digital-appoints-ceo/?ref=ceo.com). Randstad is the world's largest HR services provider.

His path up was not obvious. About eight years before the interview, he was Randstad's head of innovation for North America, a functional role with no large teams to lead. His boss at the time saw the mismatch and handed him the company's tech and engineering businesses anyway. He spent the following years building them into Randstad Digital Americas, a business of [more than $1.5 billion](https://americanstaffing.net/sw25/speakers/graig-paglieri/?ref=ceo.com) in flexible talent and managed solutions across cloud and infrastructure, data and analytics, and digital and product engineering.

A staffing executive feels the economy before most people do. Randstad places everyone from warehouse workers at Amazon to software engineers building generative AI at one of the world's largest banks, and Paglieri called the stretch leading into the interview the hardest to read of his career. Geopolitical unease, economic uncertainty, elections across the world, companies hiring less even as markets climbed. "The past 18 months have been the most just funky and hard to predict," he said.

On AI, he rejects the replacement narrative. Randstad once employed thousands of people whose entire job was contacting candidates, scrubbing resumes, and matching qualifications by hand. Technology now handles the screening and initial engagement, and the recruiter becomes a talent advisor. "It's a better result for our client. It's a better result for the candidate that we're working with, and it's a better job for our person," he said. He made a similar argument in [an interview with Authority Magazine](https://medium.com/authority-magazine/ai-and-automation-graig-paglieri-of-randstad-digital-on-how-to-effectively-harness-ai-technology-a5880c49a626?ref=ceo.com), citing a Randstad Digital white paper with Everest Group that put the global skill gap for AI and machine learning talent at 25 to 30 percent, with cybersecurity at 30 percent. Under his leadership, [Randstad Digital's 2026 industry predictions](https://www.randstaddigital.com/insights/newsroom/press-releases/randstad-digital-forecasts-great-integration-2026-autonomous-ai/?ref=ceo.com) named the shift "The Great Integration," the moment AI moves from pilots to enterprise architecture.

Randstad named Paglieri [global CEO of Randstad Digital](https://www.staffingindustry.com/news/global-daily-news/randstad-announces-ceo-of-randstad-digital?ref=ceo.com) effective January 1, 2025, extending his responsibility across Europe and Asia Pacific. In May 2026, having [grown the business unit to $3 billion in revenue](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/soliant-health-names-graig-paglieri-ceo-founder-david-alexander-transitions-to-vice-chairman-302759468.html?ref=ceo.com), he became CEO of Soliant Health, the specialized workforce firm serving more than 3,300 school districts and 750 healthcare organizations across 48 states, succeeding founder David Alexander after more than three decades at the helm.

Every CEO.com Podcast conversation ends the same way, with the belief that the chances one gives are just as important as the chances one takes. Paglieri's answer named the boss who pulled him out of that innovation role in 2016: Linda Galipeau, then CEO of Randstad North America. She gave him a business approaching a couple billion dollars in revenue. He had never run the financial rigor of an organization that size, never carried that breadth of responsibility, and the first year was rough.

"You wouldn't have hired me just by looking at the resume at the time or from a reference," he said. "She had to give me that chance, take that chance, and I definitely won't ever forget that."

00:00:09.413 --> 00:00:18.160
Greg,<00:00:09.898> thank<00:00:10.076> you<00:00:10.205> so<00:00:10.367> much<00:00:10.625> for<00:00:10.787> coming<00:00:11.175> on,<00:00:11.515> spending<00:00:11.822> some<00:00:12.000> time<00:00:12.226> with<00:00:12.404> us,<00:00:12.565> and<00:00:12.808> explaining<00:00:13.358> kind<00:00:13.600> of,<00:00:13.924> uh,<00:00:14.263> your<00:00:14.425> views<00:00:14.683> of<00:00:14.813> leadership,<00:00:15.476> your<00:00:15.702> company,<00:00:16.527> and<00:00:17.012> everything<00:00:17.432> in<00:00:17.578> between.

00:00:18.612 --> 00:00:23.514
Maybe<00:00:18.871> we<00:00:18.920> start<00:00:19.195> with<00:00:19.437> like<00:00:19.680> how<00:00:19.906> you<00:00:20.003> became<00:00:20.812> the<00:00:20.893> CEO<00:00:21.621> and<00:00:21.702> got<00:00:21.880> to<00:00:22.010> the<00:00:22.107> position<00:00:22.511> where<00:00:23.061> you<00:00:23.239> are<00:00:23.401> today.

00:00:24.938 --> 00:00:25.601
Absolutely,<00:00:25.342> Clint.

00:00:25.715 --> 00:00:27.899
Well,<00:00:25.973> and<00:00:26.151> thanks<00:00:26.459> so<00:00:26.637> much<00:00:27.025> for,<00:00:27.365> for<00:00:27.510> having<00:00:27.769> me.

00:00:29.314 --> 00:00:31.639
Really,<00:00:29.618> really<00:00:29.875> privileged<00:00:30.148> to<00:00:30.260> spend<00:00:30.452> some<00:00:30.597> time<00:00:30.837> with<00:00:30.997> you<00:00:31.158> and<00:00:31.238> chat.

00:00:32.184 --> 00:00:40.250
So,<00:00:33.627> you<00:00:33.659> know,<00:00:33.804> I've<00:00:33.948> had<00:00:34.060> the<00:00:34.188> great<00:00:34.830> opportunity<00:00:35.423> to<00:00:35.487> be<00:00:35.728> in<00:00:36.113> leadership<00:00:36.610> roles<00:00:38.213> really<00:00:38.775> early<00:00:39.079> from<00:00:39.192> the<00:00:39.256> very<00:00:39.416> beginning<00:00:39.657> of<00:00:39.689> my<00:00:39.881> career.

00:00:40.763 --> 00:00:55.355
And<00:00:41.485> I<00:00:41.581> kind<00:00:41.741> of<00:00:41.805> got<00:00:41.901> thrust<00:00:42.286> into<00:00:42.463> that<00:00:42.623> by<00:00:43.264> being<00:00:43.649> an<00:00:44.050> officer<00:00:45.349> in<00:00:45.429> the<00:00:45.493> Marine<00:00:45.734> Corps<00:00:46.776> and<00:00:47.594> just<00:00:48.139> really,<00:00:48.460> really<00:00:48.717> valuing<00:00:49.198> and<00:00:49.262> appreciating<00:00:50.561> the<00:00:51.106> honor<00:00:51.827> and<00:00:52.004> privilege<00:00:52.485> of<00:00:52.565> serving<00:00:53.030> others<00:00:53.511> and<00:00:53.607> being<00:00:53.832> responsible<00:00:54.473> for<00:00:54.794> others'<00:00:55.131> success.

00:00:55.612 --> 00:00:59.800
So<00:00:56.334> as<00:00:56.494> I<00:00:56.559> moved<00:00:56.751> throughout<00:00:57.056> my<00:00:57.281> career,<00:00:57.939> I<00:00:58.083> really<00:00:58.324> sought<00:00:58.645> opportunities<00:00:59.287> like<00:00:59.527> that.

00:00:59.864 --> 00:01:06.732
And<00:01:00.041> about<00:01:01.292> 8<00:01:01.533> years<00:01:01.806> ago,<00:01:03.314> I<00:01:03.459> was<00:01:03.699> actually<00:01:04.117> in<00:01:04.277> a<00:01:04.502> role<00:01:04.839> that<00:01:05.080> was<00:01:05.802> more<00:01:06.107> functional.

00:01:07.310 --> 00:01:12.156
I<00:01:07.406> was<00:01:07.647> the<00:01:07.791> head<00:01:07.904> of<00:01:07.984> innovation<00:01:09.091> for<00:01:09.557> Ronstadt<00:01:10.439> in<00:01:10.616> North<00:01:10.872> America,<00:01:11.562> which<00:01:11.659> was<00:01:11.819> pretty<00:01:12.060> cool.

00:01:12.381 --> 00:01:20.372
I<00:01:12.445> can<00:01:12.798> spin<00:01:13.087> you<00:01:13.167> up<00:01:13.263> on<00:01:13.344> that<00:01:13.520> a<00:01:13.584> little<00:01:13.745> bit,<00:01:14.547> but<00:01:14.708> it,<00:01:15.109> it<00:01:15.333> wasn't<00:01:15.831> this<00:01:16.537> what<00:01:16.697> I<00:01:16.714> was<00:01:16.874> used<00:01:17.115> to<00:01:18.078> leading<00:01:18.559> large<00:01:18.880> teams<00:01:19.377> and<00:01:19.506> organizations.

00:01:21.110 --> 00:01:28.493
And<00:01:21.431> my<00:01:21.528> boss<00:01:21.865> at<00:01:21.993> the<00:01:22.025> time,<00:01:23.517> understood<00:01:23.999> that<00:01:24.272> and<00:01:24.336> she<00:01:24.432> gave<00:01:24.577> me<00:01:24.657> an<00:01:24.737> opportunity<00:01:25.379> to<00:01:25.459> take<00:01:25.780> on<00:01:26.021> our<00:01:26.182> tech<00:01:26.503> business<00:01:27.209> and<00:01:27.289> our<00:01:27.385> engineering<00:01:28.027> business.

00:01:28.749 --> 00:01:35.105
And<00:01:28.814> I<00:01:28.910> probably,<00:01:30.254> a<00:01:30.274> lot<00:01:30.434> of<00:01:30.515> other<00:01:30.675> people<00:01:30.996> might<00:01:31.157> not<00:01:31.333> have<00:01:31.462> been<00:01:31.558> ready<00:01:31.799> to<00:01:32.184> pull<00:01:32.938> the<00:01:33.066> trigger<00:01:33.468> on<00:01:33.628> that,<00:01:33.805> but<00:01:33.885> she<00:01:34.029> gave<00:01:34.158> me<00:01:34.222> that<00:01:34.431> opportunity.

00:01:35.875 --> 00:01:46.932
And<00:01:36.292> over<00:01:36.453> the<00:01:36.597> period<00:01:36.934> of<00:01:36.998> the<00:01:37.095> past<00:01:37.656> 7<00:01:37.881> or<00:01:37.977> 8<00:01:38.202> years,<00:01:39.245> was<00:01:39.422> able<00:01:39.662> to<00:01:39.887> build<00:01:40.208> that<00:01:40.706> into<00:01:41.572> the<00:01:41.893> organization<00:01:42.696> that<00:01:42.872> we<00:01:43.033> have<00:01:43.354> now,<00:01:44.397> which<00:01:44.557> requires<00:01:45.263> a,<00:01:45.665> a<00:01:45.697> CEO<00:01:46.242> of<00:01:46.339> the<00:01:46.419> Americas.

00:01:46.997 --> 00:01:49.003
So<00:01:47.382> I'm,<00:01:47.687> I'm<00:01:48.088> very<00:01:48.313> lucky<00:01:48.585> to<00:01:48.650> have<00:01:48.890> that.

00:01:50.802 --> 00:01:51.557
That's<00:01:50.995> incredible.

00:01:51.702 --> 00:01:55.799
And<00:01:52.007> tell<00:01:52.168> us<00:01:52.264> what,<00:01:52.730> what<00:01:52.827> the<00:01:52.907> company<00:01:53.228> does<00:01:53.855> and<00:01:54.498> kind<00:01:54.659> of<00:01:54.739> who<00:01:54.900> you<00:01:54.932> service<00:01:55.398> and<00:01:55.462> all<00:01:55.639> that.

00:01:57.246 --> 00:01:57.921
Yeah,<00:01:57.471> absolutely.

00:01:57.969 --> 00:02:05.457
So<00:01:58.290> Ronstadt<00:01:59.640> is<00:02:00.042> the<00:02:00.138> biggest<00:02:01.086> HR<00:02:02.066> services<00:02:02.629> provider<00:02:04.236> on<00:02:04.316> the<00:02:04.396> planet,<00:02:05.039> right?

00:02:05.585 --> 00:02:27.484
And<00:02:05.666> when<00:02:05.762> I<00:02:05.842> say<00:02:06.067> HR,<00:02:06.662> I<00:02:06.791> mean<00:02:07.594> all<00:02:07.835> forms<00:02:08.719> of<00:02:08.976> work,<00:02:09.860> everything<00:02:10.486> from<00:02:11.290> someone<00:02:11.691> working<00:02:12.093> in<00:02:12.511> warehouses<00:02:13.459> for<00:02:14.102> Amazon<00:02:15.724> to<00:02:17.488> software<00:02:17.954> engineers,<00:02:18.932> you<00:02:19.029> know,<00:02:19.494> working<00:02:20.039> on<00:02:21.018> GenAI,<00:02:22.205> you<00:02:22.302> know,<00:02:22.446> capabilities<00:02:23.409> for<00:02:24.050> one<00:02:24.147> of<00:02:24.211> the<00:02:24.243> largest<00:02:24.692> banks<00:02:24.949> in<00:02:25.013> the<00:02:25.109> world<00:02:26.136> and<00:02:26.569> everything<00:02:26.954> in<00:02:27.035> between.

00:02:27.660 --> 00:02:31.366
And<00:02:27.756> we<00:02:27.981> do<00:02:28.077> that<00:02:28.318> in<00:02:28.398> the<00:02:28.478> form<00:02:29.024> of<00:02:29.345> contingent<00:02:30.564> temporary<00:02:31.110> work.

00:02:31.447 --> 00:02:36.934
We<00:02:31.607> do<00:02:31.703> it<00:02:31.832> in<00:02:31.912> the<00:02:31.992> form<00:02:32.265> of<00:02:32.473> permanent<00:02:33.853> work<00:02:34.720> where<00:02:34.816> we<00:02:34.960> help<00:02:35.137> companies<00:02:35.618> bring<00:02:35.843> on<00:02:36.003> people<00:02:36.324> full-time.

00:02:37.447 --> 00:02:40.319
And<00:02:37.527> we<00:02:37.688> also<00:02:37.944> do<00:02:38.329> projects<00:02:39.132> and<00:02:39.308> outsourcing.

00:02:40.736 --> 00:02:43.050
And<00:02:40.993> large<00:02:41.250> engagements<00:02:42.022> for<00:02:42.198> organizations.

00:02:43.821 --> 00:02:55.770
So<00:02:44.753> that's<00:02:45.026> Ronstadt<00:02:46.280> as<00:02:46.456> a<00:02:46.537> whole,<00:02:47.565> but<00:02:47.661> we<00:02:47.822> are<00:02:47.919> specialized<00:02:49.413> in<00:02:50.088> certain<00:02:50.478> disciplines<00:02:51.517> and<00:02:51.777> tech<00:02:52.247> and<00:02:52.491> digital<00:02:53.643> is<00:02:53.806> one<00:02:54.033> of<00:02:54.114> our<00:02:54.439> largest<00:02:54.845> focus<00:02:55.267> areas.

00:02:55.835 --> 00:02:57.329
And<00:02:55.916> that's<00:02:56.160> the<00:02:56.241> area<00:02:56.566> that<00:02:56.663> I'm<00:02:56.825> involved<00:02:57.231> in.

00:02:58.438 --> 00:02:59.250
Oh,<00:02:58.471> that's<00:02:58.714> incredible.

00:02:59.656 --> 00:03:02.091
What<00:03:00.467> does<00:03:00.662> a<00:03:00.727> typical<00:03:01.133> day<00:03:01.360> look<00:03:01.539> like<00:03:01.766> for<00:03:01.864> you?

00:03:03.700 --> 00:03:04.030
Oh<00:03:03.733> man.

00:03:04.312 --> 00:03:06.627
Well,<00:03:04.808> lots<00:03:05.139> of,<00:03:05.370> it<00:03:05.469> usually<00:03:05.800> starts<00:03:06.214> on<00:03:06.296> a<00:03:06.363> plane.

00:03:09.137 --> 00:03:11.117
Ends<00:03:09.315> in<00:03:09.411> a<00:03:09.443> hotel<00:03:09.958> room<00:03:10.683> typically.

00:03:11.246 --> 00:03:15.994
This<00:03:11.487> week,<00:03:12.356> at<00:03:12.453> least<00:03:12.678> for<00:03:12.775> today,<00:03:13.419> I'm<00:03:14.288> in<00:03:14.336> my<00:03:14.545> home<00:03:14.803> here<00:03:14.883> in<00:03:15.108> Tampa,<00:03:15.366> Florida.

00:03:16.412 --> 00:03:19.353
So<00:03:16.621> it's<00:03:16.734> a<00:03:16.798> series<00:03:18.744> of<00:03:18.909> calls.

00:03:21.793 --> 00:03:32.035
Today,<00:03:22.132> for<00:03:22.294> example,<00:03:23.650> we<00:03:23.730> have<00:03:23.908> our<00:03:24.053> monthly<00:03:25.119> financial<00:03:25.748> close,<00:03:26.894> which<00:03:27.056> can<00:03:27.136> be<00:03:27.217> pretty<00:03:27.540> intense<00:03:27.960> as<00:03:28.105> we're<00:03:28.250> balancing<00:03:28.686> the<00:03:28.750> way<00:03:28.976> different<00:03:29.315> costs<00:03:29.719> and<00:03:29.864> different<00:03:30.043> allocations<00:03:30.718> fall<00:03:31.056> based<00:03:31.377> on<00:03:31.461> our<00:03:31.647> performance.

00:03:32.753 --> 00:03:40.428
And<00:03:32.834> then<00:03:32.996> thinking<00:03:33.321> through<00:03:33.564> what<00:03:33.662> does<00:03:33.792> that<00:03:33.970> mean<00:03:34.197> from<00:03:34.311> a<00:03:34.441> forecast<00:03:34.944> perspective<00:03:35.755> and<00:03:36.144> where<00:03:36.388> we<00:03:36.485> can<00:03:36.664> invest<00:03:37.297> or<00:03:37.524> where<00:03:37.702> we<00:03:37.800> need<00:03:38.027> to<00:03:38.189> pull<00:03:38.416> back<00:03:38.757> based<00:03:39.065> on<00:03:39.812> the<00:03:39.893> situation.

00:03:42.683 --> 00:03:47.921
Got<00:03:42.796> some<00:03:43.007> one-on-ones<00:03:43.589> this<00:03:43.815> afternoon<00:03:44.720> with<00:03:45.367> my<00:03:45.706> sales<00:03:46.159> executives<00:03:46.903> and<00:03:46.984> business<00:03:47.452> leaders.

00:03:49.570 --> 00:03:50.540
And<00:03:49.716> then<00:03:49.829> it<00:03:49.958> wraps<00:03:50.362> up.

00:03:51.106 --> 00:04:00.037
I<00:03:51.122> know<00:03:51.348> my<00:03:51.446> last<00:03:51.640> call<00:03:51.898> today<00:03:52.253> is<00:03:52.398> a<00:03:53.206> collaboration<00:03:54.094> around<00:03:54.805> an<00:03:55.063> executive<00:03:55.644> forum<00:03:56.371> event<00:03:56.758> that<00:03:57.001> we're<00:03:57.308> planning<00:03:57.953> a<00:03:58.293> couple<00:03:58.599> months<00:03:58.825> from<00:03:58.922> now<00:03:59.165> in<00:03:59.245> San<00:03:59.423> Francisco.

00:04:00.085 --> 00:04:11.550
So<00:04:01.113> This<00:04:01.178> is<00:04:01.290> a<00:04:01.354> pretty<00:04:01.611> static<00:04:02.141> day<00:04:02.318> where<00:04:02.430> I'm<00:04:02.558> staying<00:04:02.815> in<00:04:02.944> one<00:04:03.185> place,<00:04:03.987> but<00:04:04.565> typically<00:04:04.903> it's<00:04:05.449> a<00:04:05.593> lot<00:04:05.930> of<00:04:06.155> client<00:04:06.557> interaction<00:04:08.082> out<00:04:08.323> in,<00:04:09.142> you<00:04:09.222> know,<00:04:09.382> one<00:04:09.543> of<00:04:09.575> the<00:04:09.639> cities<00:04:10.089> throughout<00:04:10.346> the<00:04:10.410> United<00:04:10.683> States<00:04:11.004> or<00:04:11.068> Canada.

00:04:12.353 --> 00:04:15.725
And<00:04:12.433> how<00:04:12.594> do<00:04:12.658> you<00:04:12.754> decide<00:04:13.220> where<00:04:13.332> to<00:04:13.477> spend<00:04:13.782> your<00:04:13.878> time,<00:04:14.280> where<00:04:14.440> to<00:04:14.585> go,<00:04:14.986> who<00:04:15.083> to<00:04:15.179> meet<00:04:15.484> with?

00:04:15.821 --> 00:04:18.615
Is<00:04:15.966> that<00:04:16.190> just<00:04:16.512> all<00:04:16.672> decided<00:04:17.234> for<00:04:17.491> you<00:04:17.652> or<00:04:17.796> is<00:04:17.892> it<00:04:17.973> strategic?

00:04:18.711 --> 00:04:23.512
Is<00:04:18.760> it<00:04:18.840> just<00:04:19.016> like<00:04:19.594> some<00:04:19.819> days<00:04:20.044> you<00:04:20.124> wake<00:04:20.301> up<00:04:20.445> with<00:04:20.526> a<00:04:20.622> plan<00:04:21.329> and<00:04:21.746> the<00:04:21.971> day<00:04:22.083> is<00:04:22.790> completely<00:04:23.191> different?

00:04:24.556 --> 00:04:32.356
Yeah,<00:04:24.797> no,<00:04:25.038> I<00:04:25.118> would<00:04:25.279> say<00:04:26.627> Planning<00:04:27.124> is<00:04:27.221> a<00:04:27.349> huge<00:04:27.927> part<00:04:28.553> of,<00:04:30.093> I<00:04:30.173> would<00:04:30.270> say,<00:04:30.398> my<00:04:30.574> success<00:04:31.040> formula<00:04:31.842> as<00:04:31.955> a<00:04:32.099> leader.

00:04:32.436 --> 00:04:39.031
So<00:04:33.623> definitely<00:04:34.169> try<00:04:34.666> to<00:04:34.907> get<00:04:35.132> out<00:04:36.255> at<00:04:36.416> least<00:04:36.608> a<00:04:36.672> couple<00:04:37.009> months<00:04:38.341> in<00:04:38.437> advance.

00:04:39.785 --> 00:04:50.874
I'd<00:04:40.379> say<00:04:40.540> it's<00:04:40.764> a<00:04:40.845> mix<00:04:41.310> of<00:04:42.449> some<00:04:43.573> routine<00:04:44.760> of,<00:04:45.177> or,<00:04:45.402> or<00:04:45.498> some<00:04:45.723> kind<00:04:45.883> of<00:04:46.124> anchor<00:04:46.686> activities<00:04:47.119> or<00:04:47.199> events<00:04:47.648> that,<00:04:48.050> that<00:04:48.210> do<00:04:48.306> need<00:04:48.531> to<00:04:48.627> happen<00:04:49.012> as<00:04:49.189> well<00:04:49.430> as<00:04:49.590> some<00:04:49.831> more<00:04:49.991> spontaneous.

00:04:52.318 --> 00:05:07.610
But<00:04:52.479> I<00:04:52.559> also,<00:04:53.970> I<00:04:53.990> look<00:04:54.184> to<00:04:54.394> plan<00:04:54.975> about<00:04:55.459> 50%<00:04:56.170> of<00:04:56.267> my<00:04:56.428> time<00:04:56.913> being<00:04:57.252> involved<00:04:58.188> with<00:04:58.366> clients<00:04:59.399> directly,<00:05:00.303> whether<00:05:00.546> that's<00:05:01.175> working<00:05:01.579> on<00:05:02.483> an<00:05:02.628> engagement<00:05:03.386> or<00:05:03.515> helping<00:05:03.837> our<00:05:04.015> team<00:05:04.740> servicing<00:05:05.208> a<00:05:05.289> client<00:05:06.175> indirectly<00:05:06.901> or<00:05:07.062> directly.

00:05:09.029 --> 00:05:24.507
So<00:05:09.158> I<00:05:09.255> think<00:05:09.432> that's<00:05:09.594> a<00:05:09.658> big<00:05:09.835> factor,<00:05:13.010> you<00:05:13.205> know,<00:05:13.432> and,<00:05:13.611> and,<00:05:13.920> and<00:05:14.099> so<00:05:14.343> I<00:05:14.408> would<00:05:14.571> say<00:05:14.896> it's,<00:05:15.157> it's<00:05:15.319> very,<00:05:17.174> very<00:05:17.662> rarely<00:05:18.247> would<00:05:18.475> it<00:05:18.638> be<00:05:20.411> you<00:05:20.492> know,<00:05:21.140> off<00:05:21.302> the<00:05:21.383> seat<00:05:21.577> of<00:05:21.642> my<00:05:21.804> pants<00:05:22.192> in<00:05:22.273> a<00:05:22.289> sense<00:05:22.759> of<00:05:23.423> what<00:05:23.649> the<00:05:23.746> day<00:05:24.070> would<00:05:24.216> entail.

00:05:25.604 --> 00:05:26.223
Oh,<00:05:25.624> that's<00:05:25.997> good.

00:05:26.887 --> 00:05:29.784
At<00:05:26.920> least<00:05:27.065> you<00:05:27.114> have<00:05:27.243> some<00:05:27.778> predictability<00:05:28.587> there,<00:05:29.089> which<00:05:29.251> is<00:05:29.300> incredible.

00:05:30.526 --> 00:05:31.574
How<00:05:30.622> do<00:05:30.671> you<00:05:30.784> stay<00:05:30.961> motivated?

00:05:31.832 --> 00:05:37.398
I<00:05:31.849> mean,<00:05:31.994> this<00:05:32.155> sounds<00:05:32.478> like<00:05:33.284> a<00:05:33.430> lot<00:05:33.994> and<00:05:35.543> kind<00:05:35.785> of<00:05:35.946> pushing<00:05:36.414> through<00:05:36.592> it<00:05:36.737> every<00:05:36.914> single<00:05:37.221> day.

00:05:37.463 --> 00:05:38.383
How<00:05:37.560> do<00:05:37.705> you<00:05:37.818> stay<00:05:38.044> motivated?

00:05:38.431 --> 00:05:39.776
How<00:05:38.528> do<00:05:38.576> you<00:05:38.657> motivate<00:05:39.028> the<00:05:39.158> team?

00:05:40.557 --> 00:05:42.801
I<00:05:40.573> mean,<00:05:40.720> how<00:05:40.817> do<00:05:40.947> you<00:05:41.110> keep<00:05:41.451> it<00:05:41.598> like,<00:05:41.842> hey,<00:05:42.004> let's<00:05:42.248> keep<00:05:42.492> rolling?

00:05:44.363 --> 00:05:50.974
So<00:05:44.769> I<00:05:44.867> think<00:05:46.339> There's<00:05:46.647> definitely<00:05:47.620> a<00:05:47.717> calling<00:05:48.446> to<00:05:48.689> be<00:05:49.013> in<00:05:49.094> the<00:05:49.175> services<00:05:49.824> space,<00:05:50.715> right?

00:05:51.055 --> 00:06:14.078
So<00:05:51.525> for<00:05:51.833> me,<00:05:53.707> I've<00:05:53.836> always<00:05:54.271> been<00:05:54.577> in<00:05:54.722> professional<00:05:55.301> services<00:05:56.574> or,<00:05:56.815> you<00:05:56.848> know,<00:05:57.218> briefly<00:05:57.556> after<00:05:57.798> college,<00:05:58.120> my<00:05:58.265> military<00:05:58.748> experience,<00:06:00.233> my,<00:06:00.379> you<00:06:00.411> know,<00:06:00.541> my<00:06:00.865> passion<00:06:02.160> is<00:06:03.958> driving<00:06:05.416> teams,<00:06:06.696> you<00:06:06.728> know,<00:06:07.101> in<00:06:07.263> some<00:06:07.587> sort<00:06:07.862> of<00:06:07.927> service<00:06:08.300> function,<00:06:10.123> in<00:06:10.269> some<00:06:10.530> sort<00:06:10.839> of<00:06:11.083> effort<00:06:11.425> to<00:06:11.604> advance,<00:06:12.629> you<00:06:12.711> know,<00:06:12.890> or<00:06:13.036> help<00:06:13.232> another<00:06:13.541> organization.

00:06:15.137 --> 00:06:16.085
Or<00:06:15.297> people<00:06:15.619> directly.

00:06:16.133 --> 00:06:22.447
So<00:06:17.482> we<00:06:17.643> are<00:06:17.804> constantly<00:06:18.591> trying<00:06:18.864> to<00:06:18.945> solve<00:06:19.250> challenges<00:06:19.941> for<00:06:20.037> our<00:06:20.294> customers,<00:06:21.098> for<00:06:21.403> our<00:06:21.580> consultants.

00:06:22.945 --> 00:06:24.391
And<00:06:23.026> that's<00:06:23.331> really<00:06:23.508> the<00:06:23.572> motivation<00:06:24.150> for<00:06:24.295> me.

00:06:24.713 --> 00:06:26.689
Are<00:06:24.938> we<00:06:25.934> evolving?

00:06:27.428 --> 00:06:30.465
Are<00:06:27.926> we<00:06:28.183> staying<00:06:28.714> ahead<00:06:29.115> of<00:06:29.533> different<00:06:29.854> trends?

00:06:31.461 --> 00:06:35.671
Whether<00:06:31.766> that<00:06:31.943> be<00:06:32.168> in<00:06:32.265> technology<00:06:33.775> or<00:06:34.016> in<00:06:34.273> the<00:06:34.418> ways<00:06:34.755> of<00:06:34.851> the<00:06:34.980> workforce.

00:06:36.699 --> 00:06:45.589
So<00:06:36.908> just<00:06:37.085> kind<00:06:37.262> of<00:06:37.326> that<00:06:37.486> constant<00:06:37.968> problem<00:06:38.306> solving<00:06:38.756> though<00:06:39.174> in<00:06:39.254> that<00:06:40.041> service<00:06:41.507> focus<00:06:42.005> is<00:06:42.230> really<00:06:42.568> my<00:06:42.809> inspiration<00:06:43.677> and<00:06:43.773> what<00:06:43.934> I<00:06:44.014> try<00:06:44.255> to<00:06:44.577> impart<00:06:44.978> on<00:06:45.059> my<00:06:45.284> teams.

00:06:47.309 --> 00:06:57.727
As<00:06:47.469> a<00:06:47.630> leader,<00:06:48.434> is<00:06:48.594> there<00:06:48.835> a<00:06:48.851> singular<00:06:49.558> moment<00:06:50.508> or<00:06:50.751> experience<00:06:51.480> that<00:06:51.658> stands<00:06:52.046> out<00:06:52.208> to<00:06:52.451> you<00:06:53.357> that<00:06:53.519> kind<00:06:53.681> of<00:06:53.762> changed<00:06:54.247> your<00:06:54.409> perspective<00:06:55.704> or<00:06:56.190> what<00:06:56.351> it<00:06:56.513> means<00:06:56.837> to<00:06:56.983> be<00:06:57.080> a<00:06:57.096> leader<00:06:57.468> for<00:06:57.565> you?

00:06:59.586 --> 00:07:01.772
You<00:06:59.618> know,<00:07:00.229> I,<00:07:00.470> I<00:07:00.486> don't<00:07:00.807> think<00:07:01.145> singular.

00:07:01.852 --> 00:07:09.702
I<00:07:01.933> just,<00:07:02.254> I<00:07:02.399> think<00:07:02.575> there's<00:07:02.977> been<00:07:03.781> many<00:07:04.183> examples,<00:07:05.067> both<00:07:05.452> on<00:07:05.613> the<00:07:05.710> positive<00:07:06.128> side<00:07:06.513> and<00:07:06.658> the<00:07:06.738> negative<00:07:07.076> side,<00:07:07.397> of<00:07:07.558> leaders<00:07:07.944> that<00:07:08.104> I<00:07:09.027> you<00:07:09.059> know,<00:07:09.268> worked<00:07:09.525> for.

00:07:10.071 --> 00:07:15.839
And<00:07:10.955> I<00:07:11.517> was<00:07:11.774> really,<00:07:12.079> really<00:07:12.240> fortunate<00:07:13.365> over<00:07:13.541> my<00:07:13.686> career<00:07:14.023> to<00:07:14.104> have<00:07:14.328> some<00:07:14.505> fantastic<00:07:15.373> leaders.

00:07:16.112 --> 00:07:23.855
And<00:07:16.337> I<00:07:16.417> think<00:07:17.622> if<00:07:17.782> I<00:07:17.863> had<00:07:18.039> to<00:07:18.184> kind<00:07:18.425> of<00:07:18.586> pinpoint<00:07:19.485> what<00:07:19.871> on<00:07:20.031> the<00:07:20.192> really<00:07:20.610> positive<00:07:21.092> side,<00:07:22.280> it<00:07:22.377> is<00:07:22.602> that<00:07:22.778> self-sacrifice.

00:07:25.011 --> 00:07:30.489
It<00:07:25.172> is<00:07:25.831> recognizing<00:07:26.714> that<00:07:27.919> the<00:07:28.080> team's<00:07:28.465> success<00:07:29.831> is<00:07:29.991> more<00:07:30.104> important.

00:07:30.554 --> 00:07:39.790
And<00:07:30.634> I<00:07:30.730> saw<00:07:31.052> some<00:07:31.309> of<00:07:32.497> the,<00:07:32.963> you<00:07:33.124> know,<00:07:33.381> the<00:07:33.542> best<00:07:33.879> examples<00:07:34.666> of<00:07:34.891> what's<00:07:35.132> possible<00:07:37.215> in<00:07:37.295> achievement<00:07:38.261> with<00:07:38.503> that<00:07:38.744> type<00:07:39.066> of<00:07:39.211> leadership.

00:07:40.096 --> 00:07:44.234
And<00:07:40.177> I<00:07:40.273> think<00:07:40.499> I<00:07:40.515> saw<00:07:40.837> that<00:07:41.497> in<00:07:41.577> a<00:07:41.706> pattern<00:07:42.431> over<00:07:43.396> a<00:07:43.413> few<00:07:43.590> different<00:07:43.895> leaders.

00:07:44.298 --> 00:07:50.193
And<00:07:44.362> I<00:07:44.459> think<00:07:44.684> I<00:07:44.781> could,<00:07:45.811> you<00:07:46.004> know,<00:07:46.069> see<00:07:46.294> kind<00:07:46.471> of<00:07:46.520> the<00:07:46.552> flip<00:07:46.796> side<00:07:47.056> of<00:07:47.121> that<00:07:47.690> in<00:07:48.015> a<00:07:48.080> couple<00:07:48.421> leaders<00:07:48.909> that<00:07:49.218> were<00:07:49.315> not<00:07:49.559> the<00:07:49.641> strongest.

00:07:51.939 --> 00:07:54.127
That<00:07:52.169> to<00:07:52.252> me<00:07:52.433> was<00:07:52.597> always<00:07:52.844> the<00:07:52.943> most<00:07:53.239> consistent<00:07:53.749> finding.

00:07:55.600 --> 00:07:58.768
Who's<00:07:55.714> a<00:07:55.796> leader<00:07:56.433> or<00:07:56.531> an<00:07:56.678> example<00:07:57.266> of<00:07:57.364> a<00:07:57.511> leader<00:07:58.164> that<00:07:58.311> you<00:07:58.425> admire?

00:08:01.124 --> 00:08:01.414
Yeah.

00:08:01.465 --> 00:08:08.157
You<00:08:01.550> know,<00:08:03.293> There's<00:08:03.566> so<00:08:03.694> many,<00:08:04.240> you<00:08:04.272> know,<00:08:04.882> I<00:08:05.283> obviously<00:08:06.503> get<00:08:06.664> that<00:08:06.889> question<00:08:07.531> quite<00:08:07.788> a<00:08:07.868> bit.

00:08:08.205 --> 00:08:21.642
I<00:08:08.334> think,<00:08:09.233> you<00:08:09.329> know,<00:08:09.457> from<00:08:09.570> a<00:08:09.618> historical<00:08:10.180> perspective,<00:08:11.223> a<00:08:11.319> leader<00:08:11.641> that,<00:08:12.267> and<00:08:13.230> I<00:08:13.294> have<00:08:13.406> a<00:08:13.471> mentor<00:08:14.209> who<00:08:14.771> really<00:08:15.012> put<00:08:15.172> me<00:08:15.397> on<00:08:15.750> to<00:08:16.858> this<00:08:17.019> former<00:08:17.661> president<00:08:18.239> and<00:08:18.367> American<00:08:19.828> patriot<00:08:20.229> and<00:08:20.454> leader,<00:08:20.791> Teddy<00:08:21.096> Roosevelt.

00:08:22.477 --> 00:08:39.320
When<00:08:22.573> you<00:08:22.637> think<00:08:22.878> about<00:08:23.601> different,<00:08:25.270> or,<00:08:25.575> you<00:08:25.607> know,<00:08:25.752> different<00:08:26.972> inflection<00:08:27.534> points,<00:08:28.160> whether<00:08:28.561> it's<00:08:28.962> in<00:08:30.182> the<00:08:30.343> formation<00:08:30.889> of<00:08:30.921> a<00:08:30.985> country,<00:08:31.692> a<00:08:31.788> government,<00:08:33.536> Civil<00:08:33.857> War<00:08:33.953> or<00:08:34.418> from<00:08:34.514> a<00:08:34.594> business<00:08:34.978> perspective,<00:08:35.715> a<00:08:35.731> lot<00:08:35.972> of<00:08:36.036> the<00:08:36.116> different<00:08:36.436> changes<00:08:36.933> or<00:08:37.782> impacts<00:08:38.198> and<00:08:38.279> trends<00:08:38.663> that<00:08:38.759> we<00:08:38.919> have.

00:08:40.345 --> 00:09:03.207
I<00:08:40.441> think<00:08:40.682> that<00:08:40.842> period<00:08:41.242> of<00:08:41.339> time<00:08:42.188> and<00:08:42.764> the<00:08:42.925> way<00:08:43.245> that<00:08:45.007> Teddy<00:08:45.232> Roosevelt<00:08:45.648> kind<00:08:45.905> of<00:08:45.969> just<00:08:46.593> lived<00:08:46.834> his<00:08:47.074> life<00:08:47.555> and<00:08:47.955> the<00:08:48.051> example<00:08:48.596> he<00:08:48.708> set,<00:08:49.798> and<00:08:50.999> you<00:08:51.095> talk<00:08:51.272> about<00:08:51.480> motivation,<00:08:52.361> you<00:08:52.457> know,<00:08:53.018> the<00:08:53.178> different<00:08:53.482> types<00:08:53.739> of<00:08:53.899> things<00:08:54.219> that<00:08:55.101> he<00:08:55.421> was<00:08:55.581> involved<00:08:55.966> in<00:08:56.046> and<00:08:56.142> achieved<00:08:56.687> from<00:08:56.927> a<00:08:57.504> political<00:08:57.840> standpoint<00:08:58.769> to<00:08:59.570> an<00:08:59.971> academic<00:09:00.468> standpoint<00:09:01.333> to<00:09:01.445> a<00:09:01.573> military<00:09:02.454> perspective.

00:09:03.480 --> 00:09:10.680
So<00:09:03.640> just<00:09:03.800> thinking<00:09:04.100> about<00:09:04.320> the<00:09:04.460> breadth<00:09:05.280> and<00:09:05.820> the<00:09:05.960> depth<00:09:06.300> of<00:09:06.540> a<00:09:06.640> leader<00:09:06.820> like<00:09:07.080> that,<00:09:07.740> I<00:09:07.760> often<00:09:08.220> go<00:09:09.220> there.

00:09:10.680 --> 00:09:12.860
Oh<00:09:10.681> yeah,<00:09:11.120> Teddy<00:09:11.220> Roosevelt's<00:09:11.740> my<00:09:11.900> favorite<00:09:12.140> president<00:09:12.420> as<00:09:12.640> well.

00:09:12.860 --> 00:09:17.660
In<00:09:13.040> fact,<00:09:14.120> I<00:09:14.140> don't<00:09:14.300> know<00:09:14.460> if<00:09:14.500> you<00:09:14.600> can<00:09:14.760> see<00:09:14.900> it,<00:09:15.020> but<00:09:15.120> there's<00:09:15.260> a<00:09:15.440> Teddy<00:09:15.680> Roosevelt<00:09:16.160> bust<00:09:16.680> behind<00:09:17.060> me.

00:09:17.660 --> 00:09:18.420
No,<00:09:18.000> I<00:09:18.040> can<00:09:18.220> see<00:09:18.420> it.

00:09:18.420 --> 00:09:19.500
How<00:09:18.421> crazy<00:09:18.660> is<00:09:18.900> that?

00:09:19.559 --> 00:09:21.600
Yeah,<00:09:20.140> that<00:09:20.340> wasn't<00:09:20.580> a<00:09:20.800> setup<00:09:21.000> either.

00:09:22.640 --> 00:09:24.790
No,<00:09:22.660> I<00:09:22.700> thought<00:09:22.820> it<00:09:22.940> was<00:09:23.040> a<00:09:23.180> Utah<00:09:23.240> mug,<00:09:23.640> but<00:09:23.860> I<00:09:23.900> didn't<00:09:24.020> see<00:09:24.240> that.

00:09:25.560 --> 00:09:26.440
What<00:09:25.800> are<00:09:25.900> your<00:09:26.100> thoughts?

00:09:26.440 --> 00:09:30.950
I'm<00:09:26.520> sure<00:09:26.600> you<00:09:26.700> have<00:09:26.800> to<00:09:26.860> think<00:09:27.000> about<00:09:27.140> this<00:09:27.300> a<00:09:27.600> lot<00:09:27.660> and<00:09:27.800> just<00:09:27.960> kind<00:09:28.120> of<00:09:28.240> the<00:09:28.280> current<00:09:28.580> state<00:09:28.780> of<00:09:28.940> the<00:09:29.080> market,<00:09:29.680> macroeconomic<00:09:30.500> environment.

00:09:31.886 --> 00:09:40.434
Even<00:09:32.143> broader<00:09:32.625> than<00:09:32.786> that,<00:09:33.107> just<00:09:33.348> kind<00:09:33.573> of,<00:09:33.895> you<00:09:33.975> know,<00:09:34.071> we<00:09:34.168> got<00:09:34.328> a<00:09:34.393> bunch<00:09:34.634> of<00:09:34.730> elections<00:09:35.260> coming<00:09:35.582> up<00:09:35.758> in<00:09:35.839> all—<00:09:36.465> in<00:09:36.722> the<00:09:36.851> United<00:09:37.108> States,<00:09:37.381> of<00:09:37.510> course,<00:09:37.847> but<00:09:38.634> in<00:09:38.892> countries<00:09:39.358> throughout<00:09:39.599> the<00:09:39.759> world<00:09:40.081> this<00:09:40.322> year.

00:09:40.563 --> 00:09:43.868
How<00:09:40.739> often<00:09:40.980> do<00:09:41.045> you<00:09:41.270> think<00:09:41.399> about<00:09:42.416> external<00:09:42.997> factors<00:09:43.465> like<00:09:43.642> that?

00:09:45.402 --> 00:09:50.277
Well,<00:09:45.579> I<00:09:45.660> would<00:09:45.741> say,<00:09:46.612> gosh,<00:09:46.871> over<00:09:47.016> the<00:09:47.097> past<00:09:47.274> couple<00:09:47.500> years,<00:09:48.791> more<00:09:49.034> often<00:09:49.356> than<00:09:49.518> I'd<00:09:49.679> like,<00:09:50.099> right?

00:09:50.341 --> 00:10:11.832
I<00:09:50.390> think<00:09:50.665> there's,<00:09:51.784> um,<00:09:52.611> in<00:09:52.709> my<00:09:53.163> experience,<00:09:53.665> let's<00:09:54.055> just<00:09:55.449> say<00:09:56.033> since<00:09:56.503> the<00:09:56.909> financial<00:09:57.460> crisis,<00:09:58.778> And<00:09:59.422> even<00:09:59.760> COVID,<00:10:00.468> you<00:10:00.500> know,<00:10:00.886> I<00:10:00.967> think<00:10:01.192> the<00:10:01.289> past<00:10:01.755> 18<00:10:02.093> months<00:10:02.737> have<00:10:03.059> been<00:10:04.008> the<00:10:04.073> most<00:10:04.588> just<00:10:04.829> funky<00:10:05.473> and<00:10:05.875> hard<00:10:06.197> to<00:10:06.342> predict<00:10:08.120> and<00:10:08.218> just<00:10:08.461> kind<00:10:08.769> of,<00:10:09.498> you<00:10:09.530> know,<00:10:10.568> expect<00:10:10.973> the<00:10:11.135> unexpected.

00:10:13.018 --> 00:10:21.883
And<00:10:13.389> it's<00:10:14.195> everything<00:10:14.775> from<00:10:15.243> the<00:10:15.581> geopolitical<00:10:17.419> unease,<00:10:19.450> you<00:10:19.547> know,<00:10:19.998> across<00:10:20.418> the<00:10:20.498> entire<00:10:21.207> world.

00:10:23.461 --> 00:10:27.050
It's<00:10:23.960> tech<00:10:24.217> trends,<00:10:25.570> it's<00:10:25.795> economic<00:10:26.213> uncertainty,<00:10:26.535> it's<00:10:26.680> the<00:10:26.761> election.

00:10:27.099 --> 00:10:38.941
So,<00:10:27.826> It<00:10:27.907> has<00:10:28.100> a,<00:10:28.405> it<00:10:28.485> just<00:10:28.806> plays<00:10:29.208> a<00:10:29.288> part<00:10:30.316> in,<00:10:31.183> you<00:10:31.456> know,<00:10:32.420> we,<00:10:32.645> we<00:10:32.741> serve<00:10:32.982> the<00:10:33.062> workforce,<00:10:34.171> so<00:10:34.893> companies<00:10:35.215> just<00:10:35.456> aren't<00:10:35.616> hiring<00:10:36.981> as<00:10:37.142> much<00:10:37.399> as<00:10:37.560> they<00:10:37.784> were<00:10:38.122> a<00:10:38.202> couple<00:10:38.507> years<00:10:38.700> ago.

00:10:39.069 --> 00:10:46.843
Yet,<00:10:39.969> you<00:10:40.049> know,<00:10:40.194> you<00:10:40.290> see<00:10:40.515> a<00:10:40.692> really<00:10:40.932> strong<00:10:41.671> stock<00:10:42.041> market<00:10:42.442> and<00:10:42.523> you<00:10:42.619> see,<00:10:43.663> you<00:10:43.743> know,<00:10:43.904> other<00:10:44.145> positive<00:10:44.611> indicators,<00:10:45.269> or<00:10:45.333> you<00:10:45.430> see<00:10:45.590> jobs<00:10:45.992> being<00:10:46.377> added.

00:10:47.437 --> 00:10:56.239
But<00:10:48.867> what<00:10:49.670> the<00:10:49.830> external<00:10:50.409> factors<00:10:50.955> that<00:10:51.196> you<00:10:51.276> mentioned<00:10:51.694> and<00:10:51.838> I'm<00:10:51.934> mentioning,<00:10:52.721> they're<00:10:52.882> playing<00:10:53.364> more<00:10:53.621> of<00:10:53.701> a<00:10:53.717> significant<00:10:54.328> role<00:10:54.569> than<00:10:54.681> ever<00:10:54.906> before<00:10:55.388> in<00:10:55.468> my<00:10:55.773> experience.

00:10:56.752 --> 00:11:06.133
Yeah,<00:10:56.897> it's<00:10:56.993> a<00:10:57.073> fascinating<00:10:57.474> time<00:10:57.714> to<00:10:57.795> be<00:10:57.891> a<00:10:57.971> CEO<00:10:58.516> because,<00:10:58.917> you<00:10:59.078> know,<00:10:59.398> gone<00:10:59.655> are<00:10:59.783> the<00:10:59.879> days<00:11:00.120> where<00:11:00.248> you<00:11:00.280> can<00:11:00.441> only<00:11:00.601> focus<00:11:00.922> on<00:11:01.002> your<00:11:01.146> company<00:11:01.723> and<00:11:01.868> what's<00:11:02.028> happening<00:11:02.445> internally<00:11:03.167> and<00:11:03.792> even<00:11:03.969> just<00:11:04.209> focus<00:11:04.514> on<00:11:04.546> like<00:11:04.690> your<00:11:04.834> competitors<00:11:05.556> in<00:11:05.636> your<00:11:05.732> marketplace.

00:11:06.214 --> 00:11:14.023
It<00:11:06.278> feels<00:11:06.390> like<00:11:06.534> you<00:11:06.582> have<00:11:06.695> to<00:11:07.320> kind<00:11:07.480> of<00:11:07.561> focus<00:11:07.961> on<00:11:08.058> everything<00:11:08.539> that's<00:11:08.779> going<00:11:09.084> on<00:11:09.741> and<00:11:09.886> factor<00:11:10.688> in<00:11:10.864> what's<00:11:11.040> going<00:11:11.329> on<00:11:12.211> in<00:11:12.307> the<00:11:12.452> world<00:11:12.869> to<00:11:13.109> your<00:11:13.269> decision-making.

00:11:14.552 --> 00:11:22.779
I<00:11:14.697> wonder<00:11:15.258> what—<00:11:15.434> I<00:11:15.450> mean,<00:11:15.595> obviously<00:11:15.899> the<00:11:16.076> biggest<00:11:16.477> thing<00:11:16.958> that<00:11:17.262> everyone's<00:11:17.743> trying<00:11:17.920> to<00:11:18.000> grapple<00:11:18.625> with<00:11:18.818> as<00:11:18.962> a<00:11:19.042> business<00:11:19.507> currently<00:11:19.924> is<00:11:20.005> artificial<00:11:20.486> intelligence,<00:11:21.127> the<00:11:21.271> rise<00:11:21.528> of<00:11:21.624> artificial<00:11:22.250> intelligence.

00:11:23.100 --> 00:11:26.280
You<00:11:23.197> mentioned<00:11:23.540> tech<00:11:23.850> trends<00:11:24.991> being<00:11:25.171> something<00:11:25.480> that<00:11:25.562> you<00:11:25.660> focus<00:11:26.068> on.

00:11:26.704 --> 00:11:28.334
How<00:11:26.801> does<00:11:26.948> that<00:11:27.046> affect<00:11:27.356> your<00:11:27.600> industry<00:11:28.008> exactly?

00:11:30.100 --> 00:11:35.730
Yeah,<00:11:30.213> well,<00:11:30.779> it's<00:11:31.507> definitely<00:11:34.905> an<00:11:35.051> impact,<00:11:35.552> right?

00:11:35.795 --> 00:11:50.281
And<00:11:35.941> I<00:11:35.957> think<00:11:36.944> it's<00:11:37.413> a<00:11:37.559> really<00:11:37.817> good<00:11:37.963> example<00:11:38.384> of<00:11:38.950> what<00:11:39.112> I<00:11:39.257> believe<00:11:39.661> AI<00:11:41.032> can<00:11:41.291> do<00:11:41.694> in<00:11:41.791> a<00:11:41.840> positive<00:11:42.324> way<00:11:43.873> to<00:11:44.035> enhance<00:11:44.341> productivity<00:11:45.310> and<00:11:45.810> really<00:11:46.294> strengthen<00:11:48.215> the<00:11:48.280> workforce,<00:11:48.735> not<00:11:48.947> necessarily<00:11:49.451> take<00:11:49.711> away<00:11:49.955> from<00:11:50.248> it.

00:11:50.362 --> 00:12:05.191
And<00:11:50.411> I<00:11:50.509> think<00:11:50.736> that's<00:11:51.225> often<00:11:51.729> what<00:11:52.120> you,<00:11:52.298> you<00:11:52.380> know,<00:11:52.608> read<00:11:52.770> a<00:11:52.852> headline<00:11:52.998> or<00:11:54.563> Microsoft<00:11:55.348> or<00:11:55.685> big<00:11:55.845> tech<00:11:56.262> is,<00:11:56.791> you<00:11:56.823> know,<00:11:56.967> making<00:11:57.272> cuts<00:11:57.769> and,<00:11:58.170> or<00:11:58.666> maybe<00:11:58.891> it's<00:11:59.051> in<00:11:59.115> manufacturing<00:12:00.013> concerns<00:12:00.590> around,<00:12:02.161> you<00:12:02.818> know,<00:12:03.139> artificial<00:12:03.636> intelligence<00:12:04.245> replacing<00:12:04.662> the<00:12:04.742> workforce.

00:12:05.303 --> 00:12:06.922
I<00:12:05.319> don't<00:12:05.447> see<00:12:05.608> that<00:12:05.688> at<00:12:05.848> all<00:12:06.025> in<00:12:06.169> our<00:12:06.345> industry.

00:12:07.788 --> 00:12:19.106
We<00:12:08.012> use<00:12:09.070> different<00:12:09.455> forms<00:12:09.952> of<00:12:10.657> automation,<00:12:11.780> AI,<00:12:12.998> machine<00:12:13.399> learning<00:12:14.361> to<00:12:14.505> help<00:12:14.906> our<00:12:15.162> performers<00:12:16.124> be<00:12:16.445> more<00:12:16.845> effective<00:12:17.262> and<00:12:17.406> productive<00:12:18.048> in<00:12:18.192> their<00:12:18.352> roles,<00:12:18.849> right?

00:12:19.154 --> 00:12:23.246
So<00:12:19.314> in<00:12:19.346> the<00:12:19.426> past,<00:12:21.641> think<00:12:21.753> about<00:12:21.978> the<00:12:22.058> recruiting<00:12:22.604> function,<00:12:23.102> right?

00:12:23.343 --> 00:12:41.452
So<00:12:23.423> if<00:12:23.503> we're<00:12:23.664> finding<00:12:24.129> people<00:12:24.611> and<00:12:24.707> we're<00:12:24.868> putting<00:12:25.109> them<00:12:25.269> in<00:12:25.349> jobs,<00:12:26.377> we<00:12:26.473> used<00:12:26.618> to<00:12:26.698> have<00:12:26.875> hundreds<00:12:27.340> and<00:12:27.501> hundreds<00:12:27.998> and,<00:12:28.544> you<00:12:28.576> know,<00:12:28.737> if<00:12:28.881> not<00:12:29.106> thousands<00:12:29.524> of<00:12:29.604> people<00:12:29.941> that<00:12:30.085> were<00:12:30.230> just<00:12:30.407> focused<00:12:31.033> on<00:12:32.156> making<00:12:32.413> contact<00:12:32.895> with<00:12:32.991> a<00:12:33.056> candidate,<00:12:33.633> scrubbing<00:12:34.163> through<00:12:34.420> their<00:12:34.645> resume,<00:12:36.106> making<00:12:36.427> decisions<00:12:37.053> on<00:12:37.230> their<00:12:37.454> own,<00:12:38.177> you<00:12:38.273> know,<00:12:38.434> based<00:12:38.819> on<00:12:39.381> the<00:12:39.477> qualification<00:12:40.601> and<00:12:40.746> the<00:12:40.810> matching.

00:12:42.287 --> 00:12:46.028
But<00:12:42.447> even<00:12:42.592> just<00:12:42.769> getting<00:12:42.993> to<00:12:43.074> that<00:12:43.186> point,<00:12:43.635> there<00:12:43.716> were<00:12:43.748> so<00:12:44.053> many<00:12:44.213> steps<00:12:44.615> and<00:12:44.695> so<00:12:44.936> many<00:12:45.048> manual<00:12:45.482> processes.

00:12:46.124 --> 00:12:55.619
Well,<00:12:46.846> Now<00:12:47.504> we<00:12:47.664> can<00:12:47.889> have<00:12:48.626> put<00:12:48.787> people<00:12:49.108> in<00:12:49.188> those<00:12:49.509> roles,<00:12:50.294> you<00:12:50.391> know,<00:12:50.856> of<00:12:51.032> what<00:12:51.193> was<00:12:51.353> a<00:12:51.497> recruiter<00:12:52.379> and<00:12:52.460> it's<00:12:52.620> much<00:12:52.877> more<00:12:53.117> of<00:12:53.197> a<00:12:53.342> talent<00:12:53.823> advisor,<00:12:55.363> right?

00:12:55.683 --> 00:13:02.756
Because<00:12:55.844> now<00:12:56.309> all<00:12:56.549> of<00:12:56.646> that<00:12:57.608> initial<00:12:58.153> work<00:12:59.116> is<00:12:59.533> done<00:13:00.238> through<00:13:01.217> technology,<00:13:02.500> right?

00:13:02.820 --> 00:13:15.539
So<00:13:03.863> the<00:13:03.959> screening<00:13:04.970> and<00:13:05.627> the,<00:13:06.413> you<00:13:06.445> know,<00:13:06.589> the<00:13:06.734> filtering<00:13:07.776> and<00:13:07.857> even<00:13:08.113> the<00:13:08.274> engagement<00:13:10.359> can<00:13:10.743> occur<00:13:11.946> with<00:13:12.059> a<00:13:12.123> velocity<00:13:12.844> that<00:13:13.069> a<00:13:13.149> human<00:13:13.406> being<00:13:13.566> couldn't<00:13:13.887> do<00:13:14.208> and<00:13:14.352> an<00:13:14.432> effectiveness<00:13:15.010> in<00:13:15.090> many<00:13:15.314> ways.

00:13:16.277 --> 00:13:19.440
So<00:13:16.839> now<00:13:17.032> we<00:13:17.160> can<00:13:17.321> focus<00:13:17.658> more<00:13:17.963> on<00:13:18.060> the<00:13:18.124> human<00:13:18.397> interaction,<00:13:19.248> right?

00:13:19.489 --> 00:13:21.399
So<00:13:20.131> it's<00:13:20.243> a<00:13:20.307> better<00:13:20.468> result<00:13:20.789> for<00:13:20.934> our<00:13:21.030> client.

00:13:21.447 --> 00:13:27.067
It's<00:13:21.608> a<00:13:21.672> better<00:13:21.849> result<00:13:22.234> for<00:13:22.475> the,<00:13:22.796> the<00:13:22.877> candidate<00:13:23.503> that<00:13:23.824> we're<00:13:24.225> working<00:13:24.562> with,<00:13:25.510> and<00:13:25.590> it's<00:13:25.686> a<00:13:25.847> better<00:13:26.088> job,<00:13:26.891> right?

00:13:27.212 --> 00:13:28.384
For,<00:13:27.694> for<00:13:27.870> our<00:13:28.095> person.

00:13:28.432 --> 00:13:40.057
So<00:13:29.219> there's<00:13:30.182> a,<00:13:30.503> a<00:13:30.568> variety<00:13:31.370> of,<00:13:31.852> of<00:13:32.045> different<00:13:32.575> applications<00:13:34.100> on<00:13:34.357> how,<00:13:35.144> you<00:13:35.240> know,<00:13:35.320> those<00:13:35.545> types<00:13:35.818> of<00:13:35.898> enhancements,<00:13:37.006> you<00:13:37.087> know,<00:13:37.247> really<00:13:37.488> can<00:13:37.713> help<00:13:38.548> our<00:13:38.708> industry<00:13:39.254> be<00:13:39.415> more<00:13:39.640> productive.

00:13:41.502 --> 00:13:49.787
Finally,<00:13:42.289> by<00:13:42.385> the<00:13:42.466> way,<00:13:42.626> thank<00:13:42.803> you<00:13:42.883> so<00:13:43.044> much<00:13:43.590> for<00:13:43.830> taking<00:13:44.135> the<00:13:44.216> time,<00:13:44.858> uh,<00:13:45.179> to<00:13:45.259> talk<00:13:45.516> to<00:13:45.613> us<00:13:46.062> and,<00:13:46.303> uh,<00:13:47.267> uh,<00:13:47.523> give<00:13:47.684> us<00:13:47.845> a<00:13:47.861> sense<00:13:48.166> for<00:13:48.310> how<00:13:48.423> things<00:13:48.792> are<00:13:48.888> in<00:13:48.969> your<00:13:49.354> world.

00:13:50.398 --> 00:13:51.907
Uh,<00:13:50.960> I<00:13:50.976> want<00:13:51.104> to<00:13:51.136> be<00:13:51.216> respectful<00:13:51.473> of<00:13:51.602> your<00:13:51.698> time.

00:13:52.003 --> 00:14:01.477
We<00:13:52.100> ask<00:13:52.324> every<00:13:52.983> guest<00:13:53.304> the<00:13:53.946> same<00:13:54.251> question<00:13:54.669> to<00:13:54.829> end<00:13:54.974> the<00:13:55.070> interview,<00:13:55.616> and<00:13:55.712> that<00:13:55.889> is,<00:13:56.033> at<00:13:56.114> CEO.com,<00:13:56.997> we<00:13:57.157> believe<00:13:58.040> the<00:13:58.121> chances<00:13:58.586> one<00:13:58.843> gives<00:13:59.486> is<00:13:59.630> just<00:13:59.807> as<00:13:59.887> important<00:14:00.256> as<00:14:00.353> the<00:14:00.433> chances<00:14:00.770> one<00:14:00.931> takes.

00:14:01.894 --> 00:14:06.245
And<00:14:02.039> I<00:14:02.119> wonder,<00:14:02.312> when<00:14:02.440> you<00:14:02.601> hear<00:14:03.018> that,<00:14:03.821> who<00:14:03.965> gave<00:14:04.287> you<00:14:04.479> a<00:14:04.543> chance<00:14:05.025> to<00:14:05.170> get<00:14:05.410> you<00:14:05.491> to<00:14:05.571> where<00:14:05.812> you<00:14:05.908> are<00:14:06.069> today?

00:14:07.754 --> 00:14:16.894
Yeah,<00:14:07.898> you<00:14:07.994> know,<00:14:08.331> and<00:14:08.700> it's<00:14:09.277> topical<00:14:09.758> to<00:14:10.400> mentioning<00:14:11.522> kind<00:14:11.666> of<00:14:11.698> how<00:14:11.843> I<00:14:11.987> got<00:14:12.180> into<00:14:12.420> the<00:14:12.548> role<00:14:12.869> of<00:14:12.949> CEO<00:14:13.366> for<00:14:13.591> Onstad<00:14:14.008> Digital<00:14:15.355> for<00:14:16.076> North<00:14:16.317> America.

00:14:17.520 --> 00:14:33.331
And<00:14:17.760> it<00:14:17.952> started<00:14:18.578> back<00:14:18.899> in<00:14:19.781> 2016<00:14:21.929> and<00:14:23.549> it<00:14:23.934> was<00:14:24.110> the<00:14:24.190> CEO<00:14:25.698> of<00:14:25.954> North<00:14:26.259> America,<00:14:26.981> an<00:14:27.077> executive<00:14:27.558> board<00:14:27.815> member,<00:14:29.065> phenomenal<00:14:30.445> role<00:14:30.685> model<00:14:31.391> and<00:14:31.888> leader,<00:14:32.529> Linda<00:14:32.754> Galippo.

00:14:34.158 --> 00:14:49.095
And<00:14:34.963> she<00:14:35.205> was<00:14:35.366> the<00:14:35.463> one<00:14:35.849> who<00:14:35.881> saw<00:14:36.187> something,<00:14:37.702> knew<00:14:38.024> I<00:14:38.201> was<00:14:38.587> rough<00:14:38.781> around<00:14:39.071> the<00:14:39.167> edges,<00:14:40.214> knew<00:14:40.456> there<00:14:40.537> were<00:14:40.698> a<00:14:40.762> lot<00:14:40.955> of<00:14:41.084> aspects<00:14:41.729> of<00:14:42.760> running<00:14:43.100> a,<00:14:43.424> you<00:14:43.456> know,<00:14:43.910> almost<00:14:44.185> a<00:14:44.250> couple<00:14:44.493> billion<00:14:44.769> dollar<00:14:45.611> revenue<00:14:46.194> organization<00:14:47.896> that<00:14:48.058> I<00:14:48.204> had<00:14:48.317> never<00:14:48.544> done<00:14:48.706> before.

00:14:50.240 --> 00:14:57.686
The<00:14:50.337> financial<00:14:51.329> rigor,<00:14:53.280> you<00:14:53.361> know,<00:14:53.540> some<00:14:53.784> of<00:14:53.930> this,<00:14:54.483> the<00:14:54.645> broader<00:14:55.133> responsibilities<00:14:56.466> of<00:14:56.922> running<00:14:57.182> a<00:14:57.198> staff.

00:14:59.352 --> 00:15:01.503
But<00:15:00.058> she<00:15:00.251> knew<00:15:00.411> that<00:15:00.620> I<00:15:00.716> would<00:15:00.796> figure<00:15:01.182> it<00:15:01.262> out.

00:15:01.583 --> 00:15:04.680
She<00:15:01.615> knew<00:15:01.856> she'd<00:15:02.016> be<00:15:02.161> able<00:15:02.353> to<00:15:02.465> help<00:15:02.722> me<00:15:02.947> and<00:15:03.043> surround<00:15:03.460> me<00:15:03.830> with<00:15:04.070> good<00:15:04.311> people.

00:15:06.157 --> 00:15:13.763
And<00:15:06.654> I<00:15:06.734> remember<00:15:07.135> it<00:15:07.216> being<00:15:07.440> a<00:15:07.521> really<00:15:07.842> rough<00:15:08.018> first<00:15:08.403> year,<00:15:09.848> but<00:15:10.008> after<00:15:10.329> that,<00:15:11.212> you<00:15:11.244> know,<00:15:11.468> I<00:15:11.613> was<00:15:11.773> kind<00:15:12.030> of<00:15:13.137> off<00:15:13.330> and<00:15:13.458> running.

00:15:14.036 --> 00:15:29.453
But<00:15:14.437> again,<00:15:15.705> I<00:15:15.721> didn't,<00:15:16.989> you<00:15:17.085> wouldn't<00:15:17.326> have<00:15:17.374> hired<00:15:17.727> me<00:15:18.915> just<00:15:19.091> by<00:15:19.316> looking<00:15:19.573> at<00:15:19.717> the<00:15:19.797> resume<00:15:20.199> at<00:15:20.455> the<00:15:20.536> time<00:15:21.964> and<00:15:22.060> I,<00:15:22.285> or<00:15:23.007> from<00:15:23.168> a<00:15:23.248> reference,<00:15:24.692> she<00:15:24.949> had<00:15:25.206> to<00:15:25.302> give<00:15:25.800> give<00:15:25.976> me<00:15:26.072> that<00:15:26.312> chance,<00:15:26.649> take<00:15:26.873> that<00:15:27.033> chance,<00:15:28.139> and<00:15:28.299> I<00:15:28.620> definitely<00:15:28.876> won't<00:15:29.020> ever<00:15:29.197> forget<00:15:29.405> that.

00:15:29.517 --> 00:15:31.857
That's<00:15:30.976> incredible,<00:15:31.665> Greg.

00:15:31.921 --> 00:15:33.812
