Formstack CEO Aled Miles
As a three-time CEO, Aled has completed two strategic exits and, most recently, a majority stake sale to one of the world’s largest private equity firms. He has served as a non-executive director on public & private boards and attained a 4th liquidity event as an executive chairman. He was employed for 20 years of his career at a $26BN+ (market cap) public company, where in his final three years, he served on the executive committee with P&L responsibility for a $2.2BN business and a directorate of over 2,000 employees.
He’s lived on 3 continents, traded in all major geographic markets, and maintains an extensive commercial & political global network. Despite his career in the mainstream technology industry, Aled has also had some unusual moments. In 1999, Aled lived in Phnom Penh, Cambodia delivering a Son et Lumière (Sound & Light Show) at Angkor Wat for the Cambodia Minister for Tourism supported by the Malaysian Government. In 2005 & 2006, directly as a result of the July 7th 2005 London terrorist bombings, Aled advised the MI5 Director General on the growing cyber threat to the critical national infrastructure. In 2006 he moved to Los Angeles to co-lead Helinet Aviation (owning the world’s largest private fleet of helicopters) and Cineflex Camera Systems. In 2008 the BBC (as a result of Cineflex) won a technical Emmy for the aerial cinematography on the sequel to the acclaimed documentary Planet Earth: Frozen Planet. This led to a relationship & partnership with President and Secretary Clinton in an attempted joint venture with Northrup Gruman and the Gabonese government to end the poaching of elephants and rhinos in Gabon, central west Africa.
His love of the arts and his home country is unrelenting. Aled is in his 6th and final year as a director/board member of The National Conservatoire of Wales under the presidency of H.R.H King Charles III. In September 2020, he was appointed as the Welsh Government Envoy to the United States, acting as a trade ambassador and representative to enhance and grow the diplomatic & trade relationship between Wales and the U.S.A. Aled currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Lindsey, and their two children.
