What AI can't do with your money
Gina Mourtzinou managed mutual funds through the financial crisis, and by the standard her industry uses to judge itself, she did well. Her funds beat their benchmarks. She received a bonus in 2008. Her clients lost anyway, some because they lacked liquidity when markets fell, others because they panicked, sold, and missed the recovery that followed.
"People don't necessarily need investment alpha as much as they need sound financial planning and advice," she told the CEO.com Podcast.
The problem is that most Americans never get that advice. Only 27 percent work with a financial advisor, according to YouGov, and usage climbs steeply with education: 19 percent of Americans with some college but no degree, 45 percent of those with postgraduate degrees. The people who need guidance most are the least likely to receive it. Mourtzinou's answer was to look at where ordinary Americans actually make their biggest financial decisions: at work, once a year, during benefits enrollment, usually alone and usually guessing. Which medical plan. HSA or FSA. How much toward retirement, how much toward emergency savings, whether supplemental coverage is worth it.
That is the problem Savvi Financial exists to solve. The Waltham, Massachusetts company she co-founded and runs as CEO builds analytics tools that turn those decisions into personalized guidance, delivered through the HR systems employers already use. By 2025, the company had guided more than 600,000 users. It operates as an SEC-registered investment advisor, and its founding team is five Ph.D.s, which tells you something about the approach.
The pedigree runs back decades. Mourtzinou studied engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, earned her doctorate in operations research at MIT, and co-founded Dynamic Ideas, a portfolio optimization firm, with Dimitris Bertsimas, the MIT professor whose curriculum vitae lists her 1995 thesis under his supervision and who won the 2019 INFORMS John von Neumann Theory Prize. American Express acquired the business in 2002 and turned the team into its boutique quant group, where they grew global allocation strategies to $12 billion in assets under management. The core team regrouped, and Savvi followed in 2013.
Given that history, her view of AI carries some weight, and it cuts against the industry's current mood. She uses it daily for onboarding, coding, and explaining financial concepts to clients. She does not believe it can do the actual work. "AI can't determine the best benefits plan for your family or exactly how much you should contribute to retirement," she said. "Those are optimization problems that require additional techniques." A chatbot can retrieve information and communicate it well, but it does not know your household, your complete financial picture, or what you can afford to lose, and it makes mistakes. "When you point out the mistake, it's much nicer than my kids. It apologizes and tells me I'm right. But it's still a mistake."
Her firmest line is on data. Savvi works with claims data and other sensitive information, and she argues the industry should act more like fiduciaries than platforms: "We should never trade privacy for convenience."
Her advice for fellow CEOs is the same advice she gives everyone, and she admits she sometimes fails to follow it herself. Sit down. Define the goals: when to retire, whether to travel, what to leave behind. Build a plan robust enough to survive both markets and life. Heading into 2026, the quant's market outlook amounts to diversification, adequate reserves, and humility about models that have not behaved lately.
Every CEO.com Podcast conversation ends with the same question, about the chances one gives rather than takes. Mourtzinou's answer went back to a second landline in her family's home in Greece, a number that had previously belonged to an OB-GYN practice and rang constantly with wrong numbers. Twice she answered, heard nothing, and hung up. The third call was MIT's Operations Research Center offering her a position. The caller was Bertsimas, who later told her he had not planned to keep trying.

00:01:22.240 --> 00:01:29.720
And<00:01:22.440> after<00:01:22.880> all<00:01:23.000> these<00:01:23.200> complicated<00:01:23.840> decisions<00:01:24.280> they<00:01:24.400> may<00:01:25.120> have<00:01:25.400> to<00:01:25.760> put<00:01:26.000> more<00:01:26.160> money<00:01:26.440> in<00:01:26.520> an<00:01:26.600> emergency<00:01:27.160> fund,<00:01:27.720> because<00:01:28.280> most<00:01:28.520> Americans<00:01:28.920> don't<00:01:29.080> have<00:01:29.280> enough<00:01:29.520> in<00:01:29.600> an

So,<00:01:35.240> this<00:01:35.520> is<00:01:35.680> this<00:01:35.920> really<00:01:36.200> complex<00:01:37.280> problem<00:01:37.640> that<00:01:37.800> they<00:01:37.960> need<00:01:38.160> to<00:01:38.280> solve<00:01:38.560> at<00:01:38.720> least<00:01:39.080> once<00:01:39.480> a<00:01:39.560> year<00:01:39.840> around<00:01:40.160> this<00:01:40.360> time<00:01:41.040> and<00:01:41.240> throughout<00:01:41.680> the<00:01:41.840> year.
00:01:42.640 --> 00:01:52.520
And<00:01:42.957> that's<00:01:43.273> what<00:01:43.590> we<00:01:43.907> are<00:01:44.223> helping<00:01:44.540> them<00:01:44.857> solve.<00:01:45.173> <00:01:45.490> How<00:01:45.807> has<00:01:46.123> AI<00:01:46.440> changed<00:01:46.757> your<00:01:47.073> workflow<00:01:47.390> and<00:01:47.707> the<00:01:48.023> company<00:01:48.340> and<00:01:48.657> how<00:01:48.973> are<00:01:49.290> you<00:01:49.607> thinking<00:01:49.923> about<00:01:50.240> it?
00:01:52.520 --> 00:01:57.560
<00:01:52.857> So,<00:01:53.194> AI<00:01:53.531> is<00:01:53.869> like<00:01:54.206> in<00:01:54.543> every<00:01:54.880> part<00:01:55.217> that<00:01:55.554> you<00:01:55.891> go<00:01:56.229> we<00:01:56.566> talk<00:01:56.903> about<00:01:57.240> AI.
00:01:57.560 --> 00:02:01.120
I<00:01:57.640> think<00:01:58.000> it's<00:01:58.280> it's<00:01:59.160> I'm<00:01:59.320> super<00:01:59.560> excited<00:02:00.040> about<00:02:00.320> AI<00:02:00.560> in<00:02:00.720> general.
00:02:01.120 --> 00:02:05.400
I<00:02:01.200> think<00:02:01.480> it<00:02:01.600> can<00:02:01.800> help<00:02:02.080> us<00:02:02.240> be<00:02:02.440> more<00:02:02.680> innovative,<00:02:03.560> more<00:02:03.800> efficient.
00:02:05.400 --> 00:02:09.840
It<00:02:05.520> can<00:02:05.720> help<00:02:06.000> us<00:02:07.320> take<00:02:07.560> out<00:02:07.760> some<00:02:07.920> of<00:02:08.000> the<00:02:08.119> manual<00:02:08.640> and<00:02:08.800> mandate<00:02:09.320> work,<00:02:09.600> right?
00:02:09.840 --> 00:02:13.120
And<00:02:09.960> also<00:02:10.240> be<00:02:10.399> more<00:02:10.720> creative<00:02:11.320> and<00:02:11.440> more<00:02:12.080> thoughtful.
00:02:13.120 --> 00:02:15.120
I<00:02:13.200> think<00:02:13.520> it's<00:02:14.000> in<00:02:14.120> general<00:02:14.480> very<00:02:14.640> important.
00:02:15.120 --> 00:02:20.720
I<00:02:15.333> think<00:02:15.547> it's<00:02:15.760> very<00:02:15.973> important<00:02:16.187> for<00:02:16.400> our<00:02:16.613> industry.<00:02:16.827> I<00:02:17.040> think<00:02:17.253> we<00:02:17.467> should<00:02:17.680> embrace<00:02:17.893> it<00:02:18.107> or<00:02:18.320> we<00:02:18.533> are<00:02:18.747> going<00:02:18.960> to<00:02:19.173> be<00:02:19.387> left<00:02:19.600> behind.
00:02:20.720 --> 00:02:29.560
I<00:02:21.000> also<00:02:21.320> think<00:02:21.560> we<00:02:21.680> have<00:02:21.800> to<00:02:21.880> be<00:02:22.040> very<00:02:22.440> very<00:02:22.760> cautious<00:02:24.480> overall<00:02:25.120> and<00:02:25.360> and<00:02:25.600> for<00:02:25.840> our<00:02:26.400> because<00:02:27.280> there<00:02:27.520> are<00:02:28.560> issues<00:02:28.920> of
00:02:29.560 --> 00:02:32.680
ethics<00:02:30.040> and<00:02:30.240> issues<00:02:30.560> of<00:02:30.800> privacy,<00:02:31.440> data<00:02:31.920> privacy.
00:02:32.680 --> 00:02:40.200
In<00:02:33.280> in<00:02:33.440> our<00:02:33.640> case,<00:02:34.720> transparency<00:02:35.880> and<00:02:36.680> and<00:02:36.880> really<00:02:37.280> fairness,<00:02:38.200> you<00:02:38.280> know,<00:02:38.440> equitable<00:02:39.040> access<00:02:39.720> to<00:02:39.880> AI.
00:02:40.200 --> 00:02:48.880
So,<00:02:40.320> I<00:02:40.400> think<00:02:40.840> we<00:02:40.959> really<00:02:41.160> need<00:02:41.360> to<00:02:41.480> have<00:02:42.160> a<00:02:42.240> robust<00:02:42.760> framework<00:02:43.440> and<00:02:43.600> guidelines<00:02:44.480> to<00:02:44.680> harvest<00:02:46.200> this<00:02:46.480> amazing<00:02:47.040> potential<00:02:47.680> while<00:02:48.160> minimizing<00:02:48.720> the
00:02:48.880 --> 00:02:55.280
risks.<00:02:49.880> I<00:02:50.200> think<00:02:50.520> also<00:02:51.360> for<00:02:51.600> our<00:02:51.720> industry,<00:02:52.480> we<00:02:52.640> have<00:02:52.920> to<00:02:53.040> realize<00:02:53.720> that<00:02:54.000> it's<00:02:54.200> not<00:02:54.400> a<00:02:54.480> panacea,<00:02:55.160> right?
00:02:55.280 --> 00:02:58.080
It<00:02:55.400> it<00:02:55.520> doesn't<00:02:55.880> solve<00:02:56.240> all<00:02:56.600> all<00:02:56.800> the<00:02:56.959> problems.
00:02:58.080 --> 00:03:05.760
Like<00:02:58.440> it<00:02:58.640> can<00:02:58.880> really<00:02:59.200> retrieve<00:02:59.600> information<00:03:00.640> and<00:03:01.000> really<00:03:02.160> surface<00:03:02.640> insights,<00:03:03.519> I<00:03:03.560> think<00:03:03.840> faster<00:03:04.280> than<00:03:04.480> anything<00:03:04.920> else.
00:03:05.760 --> 00:03:13.160
It<00:03:05.920> can<00:03:06.120> help<00:03:06.400> us<00:03:07.640> really<00:03:08.280> talk<00:03:08.640> in<00:03:08.840> essence<00:03:09.239> to<00:03:09.360> our<00:03:09.519> users<00:03:10.200> more<00:03:10.440> in<00:03:10.560> a<00:03:10.600> more<00:03:10.800> personalized,<00:03:11.800> more<00:03:12.040> direct<00:03:12.519> way.
00:03:13.160 --> 00:03:21.280
But<00:03:13.320> it<00:03:13.480> cannot<00:03:13.920> solve<00:03:14.600> the<00:03:14.760> problems<00:03:15.320> we<00:03:15.440> are<00:03:15.560> trying<00:03:15.840> to<00:03:15.959> solve<00:03:16.320> like<00:03:16.800> what<00:03:17.000> is<00:03:17.080> the<00:03:17.200> best<00:03:17.480> benefit<00:03:17.959> for<00:03:18.120> your<00:03:18.320> family<00:03:18.920> or<00:03:19.400> how<00:03:19.519> much<00:03:19.720> money<00:03:19.920> to<00:03:20.080> put<00:03:20.320> in<00:03:20.480> in<00:03:20.640> your<00:03:20.800> account,
00:03:21.280 --> 00:03:23.239
right?<00:03:21.440> Those<00:03:21.640> are<00:03:22.080> optimization<00:03:22.840> problems.
00:03:23.239 --> 00:03:28.360
So,<00:03:23.360> they<00:03:23.480> need<00:03:23.760> different<00:03:24.160> kind<00:03:24.400> of<00:03:24.519> techniques.<00:03:25.440> So,<00:03:25.600> we<00:03:25.680> need<00:03:26.000> to<00:03:26.120> be<00:03:26.280> careful,<00:03:26.880> you<00:03:26.959> know,<00:03:27.200> to<00:03:27.400> use<00:03:27.720> it.
00:03:28.360 --> 00:03:34.400
I<00:03:28.400> mean,<00:03:28.600> we<00:03:28.720> are<00:03:28.880> using<00:03:29.200> it<00:03:29.280> in<00:03:29.400> Savvy.<00:03:29.800> We<00:03:29.880> are<00:03:30.000> using<00:03:30.320> it<00:03:30.480> to<00:03:31.400> take<00:03:31.600> all<00:03:31.680> the<00:03:31.800> benefits<00:03:32.200> of<00:03:32.320> the<00:03:32.440> employer<00:03:33.040> and<00:03:33.280> set<00:03:33.519> up<00:03:33.680> the<00:03:33.800> employers.
00:03:34.400 --> 00:03:39.440
We<00:03:34.519> are<00:03:34.600> using<00:03:35.000> it.<00:03:35.239> The<00:03:35.320> people<00:03:35.519> who<00:03:35.680> code<00:03:36.080> are<00:03:36.200> using<00:03:36.560> it<00:03:37.400> to,<00:03:37.800> you<00:03:37.880> know,<00:03:38.000> improve<00:03:38.440> their<00:03:38.640> code.
00:03:39.440 --> 00:03:45.680
Uh<00:03:40.120> But<00:03:41.239> we<00:03:41.360> are<00:03:41.440> using<00:03:41.680> it<00:03:41.760> to<00:03:41.800> explain<00:03:42.280> what<00:03:42.480> we<00:03:42.560> are<00:03:42.640> doing<00:03:42.880> to<00:03:43.000> our<00:03:43.120> clients,<00:03:43.519> but<00:03:43.720> we<00:03:43.800> need<00:03:43.959> to<00:03:44.040> be<00:03:44.480> careful,<00:03:45.320> right?
00:03:45.680 --> 00:03:52.960
And<00:03:45.880> and<00:03:46.239> we<00:03:46.440> should<00:03:46.760> never,<00:03:47.200> I<00:03:47.280> think,<00:03:47.600> trade<00:03:49.400> privacy<00:03:50.120> for<00:03:50.840> for<00:03:51.200> really<00:03:51.840> answers,<00:03:52.480> right?
00:03:52.960 --> 00:03:59.280
We<00:03:53.200> need<00:03:53.560> to<00:03:53.720> give<00:03:54.000> our<00:03:54.120> users<00:03:55.240> control<00:03:56.000> and<00:03:57.240> and<00:03:57.320> it's<00:03:57.440> a<00:03:57.480> very<00:03:58.120> it's<00:03:58.240> a<00:03:58.280> very<00:03:58.520> personal<00:03:59.000> problem.
00:03:59.280 --> 00:04:03.520
Finances<00:03:59.760> are<00:03:59.880> a<00:03:59.920> very<00:04:00.200> personal<00:04:00.760> problem.<00:04:01.120> So,<00:04:01.360> we<00:04:01.520> need<00:04:01.760> to<00:04:01.880> be<00:04:01.960> very<00:04:02.200> empathetic.
00:04:03.520 --> 00:04:06.200
And<00:04:03.960> ideally,<00:04:04.520> we<00:04:04.640> need<00:04:04.800> to<00:04:04.880> be<00:04:05.000> more<00:04:05.200> like<00:04:05.480> fiduciaries.
00:04:06.200 --> 00:04:10.800
Like<00:04:06.440> we<00:04:06.520> need<00:04:06.680> to<00:04:06.800> put<00:04:07.240> their<00:04:08.040> the<00:04:08.120> clients<00:04:08.760> or<00:04:08.920> the<00:04:09.160> users<00:04:09.720> interest<00:04:10.320> first.
00:04:10.800 --> 00:04:13.400
So,<00:04:11.920> it's<00:04:12.480> it's<00:04:12.680> amazing.
00:04:13.400 --> 00:04:19.239
We<00:04:13.520> just<00:04:13.800> need<00:04:13.959> to<00:04:14.040> be<00:04:14.280> careful<00:04:15.520> and<00:04:15.720> and<00:04:15.880> mindful,<00:04:16.440> I<00:04:16.519> think,<00:04:17.519> on<00:04:17.600> how<00:04:17.799> to<00:04:17.959> use<00:04:18.160> it.
00:04:19.239 --> 00:04:25.000
<00:04:19.463> Yeah,<00:04:19.687> what<00:04:19.911> are<00:04:20.135> some<00:04:20.359> of<00:04:20.583> the<00:04:20.807> drawbacks<00:04:21.031> that<00:04:21.255> you<00:04:21.479> you've<00:04:21.703> seen<00:04:21.927> or<00:04:22.152> you<00:04:22.376> think<00:04:22.600> about<00:04:22.824> that<00:04:23.048> you're<00:04:23.272> really<00:04:23.496> worried<00:04:23.720> about<00:04:23.944> where<00:04:24.168> you<00:04:24.392> start<00:04:24.616> putting<00:04:24.840> this
00:04:25.000 --> 00:04:29.960
technology<00:04:25.840> into<00:04:26.160> what<00:04:26.360> you<00:04:26.560> do?
00:04:29.960 --> 00:04:38.640
<00:04:30.278> What<00:04:30.597> I<00:04:30.915> was<00:04:31.233> trying<00:04:31.552> to<00:04:31.870> do<00:04:32.188> before,<00:04:32.507> I<00:04:32.825> think,<00:04:33.143> you<00:04:33.462> know,<00:04:33.780> you<00:04:34.098> should<00:04:34.417> be<00:04:34.735> careful<00:04:35.053> like<00:04:35.372> you<00:04:35.690> cannot<00:04:36.008> ask<00:04:36.327> your<00:04:36.645> financial<00:04:36.963> questions<00:04:37.282> on<00:04:37.600> ChatGPT.
00:04:38.640 --> 00:04:47.200
I<00:04:38.680> mean,<00:04:38.880> it<00:04:38.960> it<00:04:39.160> it<00:04:39.240> just<00:04:39.440> cannot<00:04:40.720> cannot<00:04:41.160> solve<00:04:41.440> it<00:04:41.520> and<00:04:41.680> and<00:04:42.040> and<00:04:42.720> and<00:04:42.840> it<00:04:43.000> would<00:04:43.200> give<00:04:43.360> you<00:04:43.480> a<00:04:43.520> lot<00:04:43.720> of<00:04:43.880> stuff<00:04:44.240> and<00:04:44.360> a<00:04:44.440> lot<00:04:44.640> of<00:04:44.760> information,<00:04:45.320> but<00:04:45.960> but<00:04:46.120> it<00:04:46.240> doesn't<00:04:46.880> know
00:04:47.200 --> 00:04:51.280
your<00:04:47.840> your<00:04:48.160> own<00:04:48.480> household,<00:04:49.040> your<00:04:49.360> own<00:04:49.680> financial<00:04:50.080> financial<00:04:50.320> footprint.
00:04:51.280 --> 00:04:57.040
You<00:04:51.320> should<00:04:51.480> also<00:04:51.720> be<00:04:51.840> careful<00:04:52.720> when<00:04:52.960> you<00:04:53.080> share<00:04:53.320> your<00:04:53.520> whole<00:04:53.760> financial<00:04:54.480> footprint<00:04:55.040> with<00:04:55.520> with<00:04:56.080> the<00:04:56.200> AI<00:04:56.680> tools.
00:04:57.040 --> 00:05:01.120
I<00:04:57.120> think<00:04:57.800> this<00:04:58.040> is<00:04:58.280> this<00:04:58.480> is<00:04:59.000> and<00:04:59.120> then<00:04:59.280> it<00:04:59.400> makes<00:04:59.680> mistakes.
00:05:01.120 --> 00:05:08.880
Like<00:05:01.360> it's<00:05:01.680> it's<00:05:01.760> actually<00:05:02.480> it's<00:05:02.640> making<00:05:02.880> mistakes<00:05:03.360> even<00:05:03.760> in<00:05:03.919> silly<00:05:04.200> things<00:05:04.600> when<00:05:04.800> you<00:05:04.919> use<00:05:05.120> it<00:05:05.360> and<00:05:05.560> and<00:05:05.680> then<00:05:06.320> it's<00:05:06.440> extremely<00:05:06.960> nice<00:05:07.480> when<00:05:07.680> you<00:05:07.800> point<00:05:08.160> out<00:05:08.360> a<00:05:08.400> mistake,
00:05:08.880 --> 00:05:11.560
much<00:05:09.080> nicer<00:05:09.440> than<00:05:09.600> my<00:05:09.760> kids.<00:05:10.120> It<00:05:10.240> says,<00:05:10.440> "I'm<00:05:10.600> so<00:05:10.800> sorry.
00:05:11.560 --> 00:05:14.120
You<00:05:11.680> are<00:05:11.800> so<00:05:12.040> right,<00:05:12.360> but<00:05:13.040> but<00:05:13.120> it<00:05:13.280> was<00:05:13.480> a<00:05:13.520> mistake."
00:05:14.120 --> 00:05:21.320
So,<00:05:14.280> I<00:05:14.360> think<00:05:14.560> people<00:05:14.840> have<00:05:15.040> to<00:05:15.200> double-check<00:05:16.120> and<00:05:16.520> and<00:05:16.720> triple-check<00:05:17.919> um<00:05:18.400> important<00:05:19.800> answers,<00:05:20.320> right?
00:05:21.320 --> 00:05:24.520
<00:05:21.635> Yeah.<00:05:21.950> Yeah,<00:05:22.265> I<00:05:22.580> I<00:05:22.895> think<00:05:23.210> that's<00:05:23.525> exactly<00:05:23.840> right.
00:05:24.520 --> 00:05:27.320
What<00:05:24.760> had<00:05:25.040> you<00:05:25.520> Prior<00:05:25.760> to<00:05:25.840> this,<00:05:26.080> you<00:05:26.200> were<00:05:26.320> at<00:05:26.400> Morgan<00:05:26.720> Stanley.
00:05:27.320 --> 00:05:30.680
You<00:05:27.440> were<00:05:27.520> the<00:05:27.640> executive<00:05:28.120> director<00:05:28.480> of<00:05:28.560> financial<00:05:29.120> engineering<00:05:29.760> there.
00:05:30.680 --> 00:05:35.360
What<00:05:30.919> inspired<00:05:31.680> you<00:05:32.080> to<00:05:32.480> found<00:05:33.240> Savvy<00:05:33.600> Financial?
00:05:35.360 --> 00:05:41.440
<00:05:35.876> I<00:05:36.392> was<00:05:36.908> actually<00:05:37.424> in<00:05:37.940> Ameriprise,<00:05:38.456> um<00:05:38.972> but<00:05:39.488> um<00:05:40.004> before<00:05:40.520> that.
00:05:41.440 --> 00:05:43.360
<00:05:41.655> Oh,<00:05:41.870> yeah,<00:05:42.085> yeah,<00:05:42.300> yeah.<00:05:42.515> Sorry.<00:05:42.730> Sorry,<00:05:42.945> sorry,<00:05:43.160> sorry.
00:05:43.360 --> 00:05:46.320
Yeah.<00:05:43.800> Sorry.<00:05:44.120> I<00:05:44.520> was<00:05:44.600> just<00:05:44.720> looking<00:05:44.880> at<00:05:45.440> I<00:05:45.480> was<00:05:45.600> just<00:05:45.760> looking<00:05:45.919> at<00:05:46.000> everything.
00:05:46.320 --> 00:05:49.720
things.<00:05:46.720> Yeah,<00:05:46.920> you've<00:05:47.160> you've<00:05:47.320> done<00:05:47.480> it.<00:05:47.560> You've<00:05:47.720> done<00:05:47.840> incredible<00:05:48.280> things<00:05:48.560> here.
00:05:49.720 --> 00:05:52.680
<00:05:50.200> Oh,<00:05:51.160> right.<00:05:51.720> But<00:05:51.840> I<00:05:52.080> wasn't<00:05:52.120> at<00:05:52.360> Ameriprise.
00:05:52.680 --> 00:05:55.160
I<00:05:52.760> was<00:05:53.600> I<00:05:53.680> was<00:05:53.880> actually<00:05:54.120> portfolio<00:05:54.600> manager.
00:05:55.160 --> 00:06:00.920
I<00:05:55.280> was<00:05:55.520> a<00:05:55.600> senior<00:05:55.920> portfolio<00:05:56.400> manager<00:05:56.800> before<00:05:57.920> I<00:05:59.080> I<00:05:59.280> started<00:06:00.080> Savvy.
00:06:00.920 --> 00:06:09.480
And<00:06:01.840> it<00:06:02.040> was<00:06:02.520> my<00:06:02.760> experience<00:06:03.480> in<00:06:03.600> the<00:06:03.680> financial<00:06:04.240> services<00:06:04.880> and<00:06:05.120> and<00:06:05.240> the<00:06:05.360> team's<00:06:05.680> experience<00:06:06.160> that<00:06:06.280> actually<00:06:06.600> led<00:06:06.880> us<00:06:07.080> to<00:06:07.640> co-found<00:06:08.160> Savvy<00:06:08.480> because<00:06:08.840> I<00:06:09.400> I
00:06:09.480 --> 00:06:18.480
was<00:06:09.680> very<00:06:09.960> lucky.<00:06:10.280> I<00:06:10.400> was<00:06:11.120> I<00:06:11.160> was<00:06:11.360> managing<00:06:11.800> money<00:06:12.520> in<00:06:12.800> the<00:06:13.840> after<00:06:14.200> 2006<00:06:15.040> so<00:06:15.200> when<00:06:15.400> you<00:06:15.480> know<00:06:15.600> the<00:06:15.720> stock<00:06:16.000> market<00:06:16.280> was<00:06:16.440> going<00:06:16.680> really<00:06:17.160> high<00:06:17.440> up<00:06:18.280> and
00:06:18.480 --> 00:06:27.640
then<00:06:18.680> I<00:06:18.760> was<00:06:18.960> there<00:06:19.320> when<00:06:19.560> the<00:06:19.680> stock<00:06:19.919> market<00:06:20.280> was<00:06:20.480> really<00:06:21.080> going<00:06:21.320> down<00:06:22.120> and<00:06:23.000> and<00:06:24.160> and<00:06:24.360> the<00:06:24.480> portfolios<00:06:25.080> that<00:06:25.240> we<00:06:25.360> are<00:06:25.440> managing<00:06:25.840> the<00:06:25.960> mutual<00:06:26.360> funds<00:06:26.919> were
00:06:27.640 --> 00:06:29.960
relative<00:06:28.120> to<00:06:28.200> the<00:06:28.320> S&P.<00:06:28.720> So<00:06:28.919> so<00:06:29.040> we<00:06:29.160> did<00:06:29.360> actually<00:06:29.720> well.
00:06:29.960 --> 00:06:38.960
I<00:06:30.120> I<00:06:30.200> got<00:06:30.400> a<00:06:30.480> bonus<00:06:30.840> in<00:06:30.960> 2008<00:06:32.040> but<00:06:32.240> our<00:06:33.040> our<00:06:33.240> clients<00:06:33.800> did<00:06:33.960> not<00:06:34.160> do<00:06:34.320> so<00:06:34.560> well<00:06:35.080> because<00:06:36.600> they<00:06:36.840> didn't<00:06:37.240> have<00:06:38.040> they
00:06:38.960 --> 00:06:47.040
they<00:06:39.080> had<00:06:39.240> not<00:06:39.560> thought<00:06:39.880> I<00:06:39.960> think<00:06:40.200> carefully<00:06:40.600> about<00:06:40.919> their<00:06:41.120> asset<00:06:41.400> allocation<00:06:42.880> they<00:06:43.040> did<00:06:43.280> not<00:06:43.560> have<00:06:43.760> enough<00:06:44.040> money<00:06:44.360> inside<00:06:44.880> when<00:06:45.080> things<00:06:45.440> were<00:06:45.720> really<00:06:46.080> bad<00:06:46.520> and<00:06:46.720> and
00:06:47.040 --> 00:06:53.480
and<00:06:47.120> some<00:06:47.320> of<00:06:47.440> them<00:06:47.919> really<00:06:48.200> panicked<00:06:48.760> and<00:06:48.880> they<00:06:49.560> got<00:06:49.800> out<00:06:49.960> of<00:06:50.080> the<00:06:50.160> market<00:06:50.760> and<00:06:50.960> they<00:06:51.080> were<00:06:51.200> not<00:06:51.400> there<00:06:51.640> in<00:06:51.720> 2009<00:06:52.720> and<00:06:52.800> 2010.
00:06:53.480 --> 00:07:02.120
So<00:06:54.120> so<00:06:54.240> the<00:06:55.840> So<00:06:56.040> what<00:06:56.280> we<00:06:56.480> realized<00:06:57.240> is<00:06:57.680> is<00:06:57.960> really<00:06:58.240> people<00:06:59.200> need<00:06:59.880> not<00:07:00.120> so<00:07:00.280> much<00:07:00.600> the<00:07:00.760> alpha<00:07:01.200> that<00:07:01.440> an<00:07:01.560> investment
00:07:02.120 --> 00:07:10.480
is<00:07:02.240> giving<00:07:02.520> them<00:07:02.760> as<00:07:03.520> sound<00:07:04.000> financial<00:07:05.120> planning<00:07:05.560> and<00:07:05.720> advice<00:07:06.240> and<00:07:06.960> and<00:07:07.440> most<00:07:07.760> Americans<00:07:08.200> don't<00:07:08.440> have<00:07:08.600> it<00:07:09.480> because<00:07:10.280> it's
00:07:10.480 --> 00:07:18.160
it's<00:07:10.680> really<00:07:10.919> a<00:07:11.000> hard<00:07:11.360> problem.<00:07:12.760> It's<00:07:14.040> and<00:07:15.680> and<00:07:15.840> not<00:07:16.040> everybody<00:07:16.400> has<00:07:16.560> access<00:07:16.960> to<00:07:17.080> sound<00:07:17.320> financial<00:07:17.800> advice.
00:07:18.160 --> 00:07:22.600
So<00:07:18.240> the<00:07:18.400> idea<00:07:18.800> was<00:07:19.440> if<00:07:19.600> you<00:07:19.720> can<00:07:19.880> do<00:07:20.040> something<00:07:20.560> to<00:07:20.680> have<00:07:20.919> impact,<00:07:21.720> what<00:07:21.919> do<00:07:22.040> you<00:07:22.160> do?
00:07:22.600 --> 00:07:30.720
And<00:07:22.840> and<00:07:23.080> our<00:07:23.320> answer<00:07:23.680> was<00:07:23.919> you<00:07:24.080> try<00:07:24.400> to<00:07:24.560> help<00:07:24.800> Americans<00:07:25.400> make<00:07:26.360> the<00:07:26.560> best<00:07:26.880> financial<00:07:27.440> decisions<00:07:28.040> they<00:07:28.200> can<00:07:28.600> and<00:07:28.800> you<00:07:28.919> do<00:07:29.120> it<00:07:29.600> efficiently<00:07:30.400> and<00:07:30.600> you
00:07:30.720 --> 00:07:33.120
do<00:07:30.880> it<00:07:31.400> transparently,<00:07:32.680> right?
00:07:33.120 --> 00:07:37.360
And<00:07:33.880> and<00:07:34.000> you<00:07:34.120> use<00:07:34.280> math<00:07:34.600> because<00:07:35.600> math<00:07:35.919> can<00:07:36.080> help<00:07:36.400> you<00:07:36.560> with<00:07:36.760> both.
00:07:37.360 --> 00:07:40.680
So<00:07:37.480> that<00:07:37.720> that<00:07:37.960> was<00:07:38.160> the<00:07:38.600> the<00:07:38.760> original<00:07:39.320> mission<00:07:39.720> of<00:07:39.880> Savvy.
00:07:40.680 --> 00:07:49.240
And<00:07:40.800> then<00:07:40.960> as<00:07:41.160> we<00:07:42.880> as<00:07:43.080> we<00:07:43.280> try<00:07:43.680> to<00:07:44.400> really<00:07:44.720> find<00:07:45.280> our<00:07:45.800> clients<00:07:46.360> where<00:07:46.560> they<00:07:46.840> are<00:07:47.520> versus<00:07:47.880> where<00:07:48.080> we<00:07:48.200> thought<00:07:48.440> they<00:07:48.560> would<00:07:48.720> be,
00:07:49.240 --> 00:07:55.520
we<00:07:49.440> realized<00:07:49.800> that<00:07:49.920> the<00:07:50.040> workplace<00:07:50.920> for<00:07:51.120> many<00:07:51.400> Americans<00:07:51.920> the<00:07:52.040> workplace<00:07:52.600> is<00:07:52.760> where<00:07:52.920> they<00:07:53.080> make<00:07:53.400> most<00:07:53.640> of<00:07:53.720> their<00:07:53.880> financial<00:07:54.480> decisions.
00:07:55.520 --> 00:08:02.360
And<00:07:55.720> the<00:07:55.840> benefits<00:07:56.440> that<00:07:56.600> the<00:07:56.720> employers<00:07:57.280> offering<00:07:57.840> is<00:07:58.720> are<00:07:58.840> very<00:07:59.080> very<00:07:59.280> important<00:07:59.840> to<00:07:59.960> help<00:08:00.280> them<00:08:01.080> in<00:08:01.200> accomplishing<00:08:01.800> their<00:08:01.960> goals.
00:08:02.360 --> 00:08:06.600
So<00:08:02.480> that's<00:08:03.720> that<00:08:03.880> was<00:08:04.040> the<00:08:04.080> impetus<00:08:04.480> of<00:08:04.560> creating<00:08:04.960> Savvy.
00:08:06.600 --> 00:08:11.200
<00:08:06.796> What<00:08:06.991> do<00:08:07.187> you<00:08:07.382> think?<00:08:07.578> I<00:08:07.773> mean<00:08:07.969> obviously<00:08:08.164> our<00:08:08.360> audience<00:08:08.556> is<00:08:08.751> a<00:08:08.947> lot<00:08:09.142> of<00:08:09.338> CEOs,<00:08:09.533> a<00:08:09.729> lot<00:08:09.924> of<00:08:10.120> leaders.
00:08:11.200 --> 00:08:19.320
What<00:08:11.400> mistakes<00:08:12.040> do<00:08:12.160> you<00:08:12.240> think<00:08:12.960> CEOs<00:08:13.400> and<00:08:13.520> leaders<00:08:13.840> make<00:08:14.120> on<00:08:14.240> their<00:08:14.480> own<00:08:14.640> kind<00:08:14.800> of<00:08:14.880> like<00:08:15.040> personal<00:08:15.560> financial<00:08:16.240> planning<00:08:16.760> ideas<00:08:17.560> or<00:08:18.680> um<00:08:19.240> what
00:08:19.320 --> 00:08:23.400
advice<00:08:19.760> would<00:08:19.919> you<00:08:20.040> have<00:08:20.280> for<00:08:20.400> them?
00:08:23.400 --> 00:08:32.080
<00:08:23.745> I<00:08:24.091> think<00:08:24.436> you<00:08:24.782> know,<00:08:25.127> leaders<00:08:25.473> and<00:08:25.818> CEOs<00:08:26.164> are<00:08:26.509> are<00:08:26.855> also<00:08:27.200> human<00:08:27.545> and<00:08:27.891> and<00:08:28.236> I<00:08:28.582> think<00:08:28.927> often<00:08:29.273> and<00:08:29.618> and<00:08:29.964> very<00:08:30.309> very<00:08:30.655> very<00:08:31.000> busy.
00:08:32.080 --> 00:08:34.599
So<00:08:32.240> I<00:08:32.360> think<00:08:32.760> often<00:08:33.039> times<00:08:33.640> and<00:08:33.840> I<00:08:33.919> do<00:08:34.080> it<00:08:34.240> too,<00:08:34.360> right?
00:08:34.599 --> 00:08:43.400
I<00:08:34.680> don't<00:08:35.080> spend<00:08:35.479> enough<00:08:35.800> time<00:08:36.120> looking<00:08:36.479> at<00:08:36.640> my<00:08:36.800> finances<00:08:37.760> and<00:08:38.280> and<00:08:38.880> and<00:08:39.120> really<00:08:39.400> making<00:08:39.800> certain<00:08:40.039> that<00:08:40.159> I've<00:08:40.280> done<00:08:40.400> that<00:08:40.680> I<00:08:41.840> I<00:08:41.960> know<00:08:42.240> my<00:08:42.440> goals.
00:08:43.400 --> 00:08:46.960
It<00:08:43.560> it<00:08:43.680> it's<00:08:43.919> it's<00:08:44.120> it's<00:08:45.160> I<00:08:45.200> didn't<00:08:45.440> expect<00:08:45.920> it<00:08:46.040> clean,<00:08:46.240> but<00:08:46.400> it's<00:08:46.600> hard.
00:08:46.960 --> 00:08:53.080
Like<00:08:47.160> many<00:08:47.440> people<00:08:47.760> don't<00:08:48.040> like<00:08:48.240> they<00:08:48.400> don't<00:08:48.680> sit<00:08:48.920> together<00:08:49.400> as<00:08:49.560> a<00:08:49.640> household<00:08:50.560> and<00:08:50.680> say,<00:08:50.839> "Okay,<00:08:51.320> those<00:08:51.800> are<00:08:52.120> our<00:08:52.320> goals,<00:08:52.800> right?
00:08:53.080 --> 00:08:58.160
This<00:08:53.360> is<00:08:53.520> when<00:08:53.720> we<00:08:53.880> are<00:08:54.000> going<00:08:54.280> to<00:08:54.400> retire."<00:08:55.040> And<00:08:55.520> and<00:08:56.040> or<00:08:56.520> we<00:08:56.640> are<00:08:56.720> going<00:08:56.920> to<00:08:57.040> travel<00:08:57.400> or<00:08:57.520> not<00:08:57.720> to<00:08:57.800> travel.
00:08:58.160 --> 00:09:02.640
Right?<00:08:58.240> So<00:08:58.600> so<00:08:58.720> they<00:08:58.880> need<00:08:59.160> to<00:08:59.280> sit<00:08:59.560> down<00:08:59.920> and<00:09:00.160> and<00:09:00.600> think<00:09:01.000> what<00:09:01.200> is<00:09:01.360> important<00:09:02.000> for<00:09:02.160> them.
00:09:02.640 --> 00:09:07.040
Is<00:09:02.880> charity<00:09:03.360> important<00:09:03.880> for<00:09:04.080> them?<00:09:04.440> Is<00:09:04.720> living<00:09:05.040> a<00:09:05.080> legacy<00:09:05.600> important<00:09:06.160> to<00:09:06.240> them?
00:09:07.040 --> 00:09:09.200
Uh<00:09:07.560> what<00:09:07.960> are<00:09:08.120> the<00:09:08.240> important<00:09:08.800> goals?
00:09:09.200 --> 00:09:14.520
And<00:09:09.360> then<00:09:10.000> Okay,<00:09:10.680> then<00:09:11.080> you<00:09:11.200> they<00:09:11.400> really<00:09:11.680> need<00:09:12.040> a<00:09:12.120> multi-period<00:09:13.320> plan.
00:09:14.520 --> 00:09:23.800
Which<00:09:14.760> is<00:09:14.880> robust.<00:09:16.000> Uh<00:09:16.240> it's<00:09:16.520> robust<00:09:17.160> to<00:09:17.920> to<00:09:18.040> life<00:09:18.360> situations<00:09:19.160> and<00:09:19.320> is<00:09:19.480> robust<00:09:20.000> to<00:09:20.080> market<00:09:20.560> and<00:09:20.760> for<00:09:20.920> CEOs,<00:09:21.680> I<00:09:21.720> mean<00:09:21.839> there<00:09:22.040> are<00:09:22.320> often<00:09:23.160> uncertainty,
00:09:23.800 --> 00:09:27.240
right?<00:09:23.920> So<00:09:24.040> it<00:09:24.280> it<00:09:24.440> really<00:09:24.680> needs<00:09:24.920> to<00:09:25.000> be<00:09:25.120> a<00:09:25.160> robust<00:09:26.200> financial<00:09:26.920> plan.
00:09:27.240 --> 00:09:31.160
And<00:09:27.400> then<00:09:27.520> they<00:09:27.600> need<00:09:27.760> to<00:09:27.839> commit<00:09:28.200> to<00:09:28.320> it.<00:09:28.560> I<00:09:28.640> think<00:09:29.640> most<00:09:29.800> of<00:09:29.880> them<00:09:30.040> they<00:09:30.160> will<00:09:30.360> commit<00:09:30.680> to<00:09:30.760> it<00:09:30.920> later.
00:09:31.160 --> 00:09:40.400
It's<00:09:31.360> their<00:09:31.520> character,<00:09:31.880> but<00:09:32.000> they<00:09:32.080> need<00:09:32.760> to<00:09:33.960> to<00:09:34.040> slow<00:09:34.400> down<00:09:34.920> and<00:09:35.320> you<00:09:35.360> know,<00:09:35.520> think<00:09:35.839> about<00:09:36.280> it<00:09:36.760> and<00:09:37.280> and<00:09:38.160> and<00:09:38.400> see<00:09:38.560> how<00:09:38.760> to<00:09:39.000> optimize<00:09:39.680> their
00:09:40.400 --> 00:09:47.160
unique<00:09:40.757> financial<00:09:41.113> situation.<00:09:41.470> <00:09:41.827> What<00:09:42.183> does<00:09:42.540> a<00:09:42.897> typical<00:09:43.253> day<00:09:43.610> look<00:09:43.967> like<00:09:44.323> for<00:09:44.680> you?
00:09:47.160 --> 00:09:56.120
<00:09:47.447> We<00:09:47.734> are<00:09:48.021> a<00:09:48.308> startup<00:09:48.594> service<00:09:48.881> startup,<00:09:49.168> so<00:09:49.455> we<00:09:49.742> don't<00:09:50.029> really<00:09:50.316> have<00:09:50.603> a<00:09:50.890> typical<00:09:51.177> days,<00:09:51.463> but<00:09:51.750> I<00:09:52.037> have<00:09:52.324> still<00:09:52.611> kids<00:09:52.898> at<00:09:53.185> home,<00:09:53.472> so<00:09:53.759> I<00:09:54.046> wake<00:09:54.332> up<00:09:54.619> and<00:09:54.906> I<00:09:55.193> make<00:09:55.480> breakfast
00:09:56.120 --> 00:10:04.560
and<00:09:56.360> I<00:09:56.520> try<00:09:56.800> to<00:09:56.920> get<00:09:57.080> them<00:09:57.240> out<00:09:57.360> of<00:09:57.440> the<00:09:57.520> house<00:09:58.040> and<00:09:58.200> then<00:09:58.480> I<00:09:58.600> try<00:09:58.960> to<00:09:59.880> to<00:09:59.960> read<00:10:00.160> the<00:10:00.240> news<00:10:01.280> and<00:10:01.520> then<00:10:01.840> we<00:10:02.880> we<00:10:03.040> have<00:10:03.720> we<00:10:03.880> go<00:10:04.080> to<00:10:04.360> the
00:10:04.560 --> 00:10:13.320
office<00:10:05.720> two<00:10:05.840> or<00:10:05.960> three<00:10:06.200> times<00:10:06.560> a<00:10:06.640> week,<00:10:06.960> but<00:10:07.240> the<00:10:07.320> rest<00:10:07.520> of<00:10:07.600> the<00:10:07.680> days<00:10:07.960> we<00:10:08.080> work<00:10:08.320> from<00:10:08.520> home,<00:10:08.840> so<00:10:09.040> we<00:10:09.160> have<00:10:09.360> Slack<00:10:09.760> and<00:10:09.920> so<00:10:10.120> we<00:10:10.320> I<00:10:10.400> get<00:10:10.640> into<00:10:10.840> Slack<00:10:11.200> and<00:10:11.360> I<00:10:11.400> start<00:10:12.240> um<00:10:12.960> chatting
00:10:13.320 --> 00:10:22.000
early<00:10:13.668> with<00:10:14.016> with<00:10:14.364> my<00:10:14.712> colleagues.<00:10:15.060> <00:10:15.408> So,<00:10:15.756> what<00:10:16.104> do<00:10:16.452> you<00:10:16.800> read<00:10:17.148> and<00:10:17.496> and<00:10:17.844> what<00:10:18.192> reading<00:10:18.540> recommendations<00:10:18.888> would<00:10:19.236> you<00:10:19.584> have<00:10:19.932> for<00:10:20.280> us?
00:10:22.000 --> 00:10:28.240
<00:10:22.400> So,<00:10:22.800> I<00:10:23.200> I<00:10:23.600> I<00:10:24.000> read<00:10:24.400> a<00:10:24.800> lot,<00:10:25.200> uh<00:10:25.600> but<00:10:26.000> what<00:10:26.400> do<00:10:26.800> I<00:10:27.200> have<00:10:27.600> for<00:10:28.000> you?
00:10:28.240 --> 00:10:33.720
So,<00:10:28.640> I<00:10:28.760> think<00:10:29.120> recently<00:10:30.080> I<00:10:30.240> have<00:10:30.560> been<00:10:31.080> reading<00:10:31.520> more<00:10:31.800> of<00:10:32.080> history<00:10:32.640> books.
00:10:33.720 --> 00:10:41.480
So,<00:10:34.080> I<00:10:34.920> I<00:10:35.200> read<00:10:35.760> a<00:10:36.080> book<00:10:36.320> about<00:10:36.800> the<00:10:36.920> Greek<00:10:37.200> Revolution,<00:10:37.880> which<00:10:38.080> I<00:10:38.120> don't<00:10:38.320> know<00:10:38.440> if<00:10:38.800> your<00:10:38.960> audience<00:10:39.440> would<00:10:39.600> like<00:10:39.839> to<00:10:39.920> read,<00:10:40.040> but<00:10:40.200> I<00:10:40.240> think<00:10:40.480> it's<00:10:40.680> very<00:10:40.839> important<00:10:41.280> is<00:10:41.360> the
00:10:41.480 --> 00:10:44.040
making<00:10:41.960> of<00:10:42.280> of<00:10:42.560> modern<00:10:43.000> Europe.
00:10:44.040 --> 00:10:52.280
Um<00:10:44.720> and<00:10:44.920> then<00:10:45.200> I<00:10:45.360> read<00:10:45.640> a<00:10:45.720> book<00:10:46.160> about<00:10:46.920> uh<00:10:47.080> the<00:10:47.200> Minutemen<00:10:48.320> and<00:10:48.560> their<00:10:49.080> world<00:10:49.560> because<00:10:50.000> I<00:10:50.120> live<00:10:50.360> in<00:10:50.480> Lincoln,<00:10:50.880> which<00:10:51.040> is<00:10:51.160> next<00:10:51.440> to<00:10:51.520> Concord,<00:10:52.040> so
00:10:52.280 --> 00:10:58.880
my<00:10:53.400> walking<00:10:53.800> trail<00:10:54.160> is<00:10:54.320> a<00:10:54.400> Minuteman<00:10:54.839> trail<00:10:55.360> and<00:10:55.640> I<00:10:55.839> crossed<00:10:56.240> the<00:10:56.360> North<00:10:56.680> Bridge,<00:10:57.000> so<00:10:57.760> I<00:10:57.880> really<00:10:58.120> like<00:10:58.400> history.
00:10:58.880 --> 00:11:06.600
I<00:10:59.000> think<00:11:00.920> I<00:11:01.000> think<00:11:01.360> you<00:11:01.480> can<00:11:01.800> learn<00:11:02.160> a<00:11:02.240> lot<00:11:02.600> by<00:11:02.839> people's<00:11:03.600> mistakes<00:11:04.240> and<00:11:04.440> also<00:11:04.880> by<00:11:05.120> their<00:11:05.400> success.
00:11:06.600 --> 00:11:15.880
You<00:11:06.720> can<00:11:06.920> understand<00:11:07.480> how<00:11:07.839> sometimes<00:11:09.360> it's<00:11:09.760> it's<00:11:09.960> so<00:11:10.120> close<00:11:10.400> to<00:11:10.520> be<00:11:10.640> disaster<00:11:11.160> and<00:11:11.280> then,<00:11:11.560> you<00:11:11.640> know,<00:11:12.000> people<00:11:12.360> make<00:11:12.680> it<00:11:12.880> and<00:11:13.120> and<00:11:13.360> you<00:11:13.480> can<00:11:13.680> understand<00:11:14.640> leadership
00:11:15.880 --> 00:11:20.960
and<00:11:16.080> how<00:11:16.560> what<00:11:16.800> makes<00:11:17.080> people<00:11:17.480> tick<00:11:17.800> and<00:11:18.000> and<00:11:18.240> how<00:11:18.520> they<00:11:18.760> work.
00:11:20.960 --> 00:11:22.960
Uh<00:11:21.160> so,<00:11:21.480> I<00:11:21.720> I<00:11:21.839> read<00:11:22.040> a<00:11:22.120> lot<00:11:22.360> of<00:11:22.480> history.
00:11:22.960 --> 00:11:26.280
I<00:11:23.000> also<00:11:23.280> read<00:11:23.440> a<00:11:23.480> lot<00:11:23.720> of<00:11:23.839> fiction,<00:11:24.200> but<00:11:24.400> when<00:11:24.560> I<00:11:24.640> start<00:11:24.920> fiction,<00:11:25.240> I<00:11:25.280> cannot<00:11:25.560> stop.
00:11:26.280 --> 00:11:31.680
So,<00:11:26.960> I<00:11:27.080> think<00:11:27.640> I<00:11:27.720> think<00:11:27.960> history<00:11:28.280> is<00:11:28.360> the<00:11:28.440> safest<00:11:30.040> um<00:11:30.480> topic.
00:11:31.680 --> 00:11:39.680
Uh,<00:11:31.960> that's<00:11:32.200> awesome.<00:11:32.640> I<00:11:32.680> love<00:11:32.960> it.<00:11:33.240> Uh,<00:11:34.000> give<00:11:34.160> me<00:11:34.280> a<00:11:34.360> sense<00:11:34.680> for<00:11:35.240> like<00:11:35.600> the<00:11:35.960> the<00:11:36.120> challenges<00:11:36.960> that<00:11:37.320> are,<00:11:37.880> you<00:11:37.960> know,<00:11:38.120> it's<00:11:38.280> always<00:11:38.520> there's<00:11:38.760> always<00:11:39.000> been<00:11:39.200> challenges
00:11:39.680 --> 00:11:46.800
with<00:11:40.018> like<00:11:40.356> privacy<00:11:40.693> and<00:11:41.031> data<00:11:41.369> and<00:11:41.707> all<00:11:42.044> that<00:11:42.382> type<00:11:42.720> of<00:11:43.058> stuff<00:11:43.396> in<00:11:43.733> FinTech<00:11:44.071> and<00:11:44.409> in<00:11:44.747> the<00:11:45.084> financial<00:11:45.422> services<00:11:45.760> industry.
00:11:46.800 --> 00:11:56.160
Are<00:11:46.920> those<00:11:47.160> increasing?<00:11:47.920> Like<00:11:48.120> how<00:11:48.240> do<00:11:48.360> you<00:11:48.480> think<00:11:48.760> about<00:11:49.160> like<00:11:49.480> data<00:11:49.760> privacy<00:11:50.680> and<00:11:50.840> all<00:11:50.960> and<00:11:51.120> all<00:11:51.280> of<00:11:51.360> that<00:11:51.560> type<00:11:51.760> of<00:11:51.840> stuff,<00:11:52.840> uh,<00:11:53.400> now?
00:11:56.160 --> 00:12:05.720
I<00:11:56.360> think<00:11:56.800> they<00:11:57.080> are<00:11:57.240> increasing.<00:11:58.040> I<00:11:58.160> think<00:11:58.800> with<00:11:59.880> with<00:12:00.240> AI,<00:12:00.600> as<00:12:00.800> you<00:12:00.920> mentioned<00:12:01.320> before,<00:12:01.960> uh,<00:12:02.600> like<00:12:02.840> I<00:12:02.880> think<00:12:03.120> some<00:12:03.320> people<00:12:03.600> feel<00:12:05.360> Actually,
00:12:05.720 --> 00:12:14.680
it's<00:12:05.920> both<00:12:06.160> ways.<00:12:06.440> Some<00:12:06.680> people,<00:12:07.360> um,<00:12:07.840> are<00:12:08.000> sharing<00:12:08.400> more<00:12:08.960> and<00:12:09.280> some<00:12:09.680> people<00:12:10.200> are<00:12:10.400> really,<00:12:11.040> uh,<00:12:11.520> are<00:12:11.640> really<00:12:11.880> reluctant<00:12:12.560> and<00:12:12.720> and<00:12:12.960> and<00:12:13.160> very<00:12:13.520> protective,<00:12:14.320> right?
00:12:14.680 --> 00:12:19.480
And<00:12:14.920> we<00:12:16.880> we<00:12:17.080> need<00:12:17.400> to<00:12:17.560> be<00:12:18.040> mindful<00:12:18.560> of<00:12:18.840> both.
00:12:19.480 --> 00:12:27.840
We<00:12:19.760> are<00:12:19.960> using<00:12:21.720> sometimes<00:12:22.440> claims<00:12:23.000> in<00:12:23.200> what<00:12:23.400> we<00:12:23.520> are<00:12:23.640> doing<00:12:24.040> and<00:12:24.240> this<00:12:24.360> is<00:12:24.520> again<00:12:25.280> a<00:12:25.360> lot<00:12:25.560> of<00:12:25.760> personal<00:12:26.360> information.
00:12:27.840 --> 00:12:35.960
So,<00:12:29.120> I<00:12:29.240> think<00:12:29.480> there<00:12:29.600> is<00:12:29.760> some<00:12:30.640> And<00:12:30.880> again,<00:12:31.160> if<00:12:31.320> you<00:12:31.440> put<00:12:31.960> things<00:12:32.440> out<00:12:32.800> there,<00:12:33.720> um,<00:12:34.160> they<00:12:34.280> can<00:12:34.440> be<00:12:34.560> used<00:12:34.880> by<00:12:35.080> anybody,<00:12:35.600> right?
00:12:35.960 --> 00:12:45.440
So,<00:12:36.560> I<00:12:36.680> don't<00:12:37.120> I<00:12:37.160> don't<00:12:37.400> know<00:12:37.560> if<00:12:37.720> people<00:12:38.040> always<00:12:38.480> realize<00:12:39.240> that<00:12:39.480> they<00:12:39.640> put<00:12:40.440> their<00:12:40.800> information<00:12:41.600> out<00:12:41.839> there<00:12:42.120> and<00:12:42.320> what<00:12:42.560> does<00:12:42.800> it<00:12:43.000> mean<00:12:43.880> for<00:12:44.120> them?
00:12:45.440 --> 00:12:50.520
So,<00:12:45.760> so<00:12:45.880> I<00:12:45.960> think<00:12:46.440> it's<00:12:46.640> it's<00:12:46.800> more<00:12:47.000> important<00:12:47.520> than<00:12:47.600> it<00:12:47.880> was<00:12:48.080> before,<00:12:48.480> right?
00:12:50.520 --> 00:12:52.480
Yeah.<00:12:51.280> Yeah,<00:12:51.480> that's<00:12:51.720> my<00:12:51.880> sense<00:12:52.160> for<00:12:52.400> it.
00:12:52.480 --> 00:12:57.000
How<00:12:52.640> have<00:12:52.760> you<00:12:52.880> thought<00:12:53.040> about<00:12:53.240> the<00:12:53.360> culture?<00:12:53.640> You<00:12:53.760> said<00:12:54.120> you<00:12:54.320> said<00:12:54.480> you<00:12:54.560> go<00:12:54.640> into<00:12:54.760> the<00:12:54.880> office<00:12:55.080> about<00:12:55.320> two<00:12:55.480> to<00:12:55.560> three<00:12:55.760> times<00:12:56.040> a<00:12:56.080> week.
00:12:57.000 --> 00:13:06.320
What<00:12:57.240> went<00:12:57.400> into<00:12:57.560> your<00:12:57.680> decision<00:12:58.120> of<00:12:58.240> kind<00:12:58.400> of<00:12:58.480> doing<00:12:58.680> like<00:12:58.880> a<00:12:58.960> hybrid,<00:13:00.520> uh,<00:13:00.640> model<00:13:01.760> and<00:13:01.880> how<00:13:02.000> do<00:13:02.080> you<00:13:02.200> think<00:13:02.360> about<00:13:02.600> culture<00:13:03.240> overall?
00:13:06.320 --> 00:13:09.680
So,<00:13:06.920> I<00:13:07.600> I<00:13:07.720> like<00:13:08.120> going<00:13:08.400> to<00:13:08.520> the<00:13:08.640> office.
00:13:09.680 --> 00:13:15.120
Um,<00:13:10.160> I<00:13:11.480> I<00:13:11.600> think<00:13:11.839> I'm<00:13:11.960> more<00:13:12.120> of<00:13:12.240> an<00:13:12.360> introvert,<00:13:12.680> but<00:13:12.839> I<00:13:12.960> really<00:13:13.280> like<00:13:13.640> talking<00:13:14.040> to<00:13:14.160> my<00:13:14.320> colleagues,<00:13:14.880> right?
00:13:15.120 --> 00:13:23.640
And<00:13:15.280> especially,<00:13:16.560> uh,<00:13:16.760> we<00:13:16.880> have<00:13:17.040> what<00:13:17.240> we<00:13:17.360> call<00:13:17.560> the<00:13:17.720> engine<00:13:18.040> team,<00:13:18.280> which<00:13:18.480> is,<00:13:18.880> you<00:13:18.920> know,<00:13:19.640> the<00:13:19.760> team<00:13:19.960> that<00:13:20.800> the<00:13:20.960> analytics<00:13:21.480> and<00:13:21.600> and<00:13:21.760> we<00:13:21.920> really<00:13:22.240> work<00:13:22.600> as<00:13:22.800> a<00:13:22.880> team,<00:13:23.280> right?
00:13:23.640 --> 00:13:28.440
So,<00:13:23.839> we<00:13:24.480> it's<00:13:24.800> easier<00:13:25.240> to<00:13:25.360> exchange<00:13:25.880> ideas,<00:13:27.080> um,<00:13:27.480> when<00:13:27.680> you<00:13:27.800> are<00:13:27.880> in<00:13:28.040> person.
00:13:28.440 --> 00:13:37.040
I<00:13:28.751> mean,<00:13:29.062> if<00:13:29.373> we<00:13:29.684> the<00:13:29.996> days<00:13:30.307> that<00:13:30.618> we<00:13:30.929> are<00:13:31.240> remote,<00:13:31.551> we<00:13:31.862> we<00:13:32.173> just<00:13:32.484> do<00:13:32.796> a<00:13:33.107> GoToMeeting<00:13:33.418> or<00:13:33.729> Zoom<00:13:34.040> or<00:13:34.351> something,<00:13:34.662> because<00:13:34.973> I<00:13:35.284> think<00:13:35.596> it's<00:13:35.907> so<00:13:36.218> much<00:13:36.529> easier<00:13:36.840> when
00:13:37.040 --> 00:13:40.440
you<00:13:37.120> talk<00:13:37.360> to<00:13:37.480> people<00:13:37.800> to<00:13:37.880> understand<00:13:39.440> what<00:13:39.760> they<00:13:39.920> are<00:13:40.080> saying.
00:13:40.440 --> 00:13:42.280
So,<00:13:41.160> I<00:13:41.320> really<00:13:41.600> like<00:13:41.960> that.
00:13:42.280 --> 00:13:51.080
On<00:13:42.400> the<00:13:42.520> other<00:13:42.720> hand,<00:13:43.880> you<00:13:43.920> know,<00:13:44.080> after<00:13:44.400> COVID,<00:13:44.760> so<00:13:44.920> many<00:13:45.240> people<00:13:45.640> went<00:13:46.480> back<00:13:46.880> home<00:13:47.360> and<00:13:47.760> and<00:13:48.000> I<00:13:48.080> live<00:13:48.320> in<00:13:48.440> Boston<00:13:49.000> and<00:13:49.320> and<00:13:49.480> the<00:13:49.600> traffic<00:13:49.960> is<00:13:50.080> horrible.
00:13:51.080 --> 00:13:57.280
And<00:13:51.320> and<00:13:51.520> I<00:13:51.600> really<00:13:51.880> feel<00:13:52.120> guilty<00:13:52.480> when<00:13:52.720> I<00:13:52.800> make<00:13:53.120> my<00:13:53.280> colleagues<00:13:53.760> drive<00:13:54.080> an<00:13:54.240> hour<00:13:54.400> and<00:13:54.520> a<00:13:54.600> half<00:13:54.840> to<00:13:55.000> get<00:13:55.160> to<00:13:55.280> the<00:13:55.400> office<00:13:55.720> and<00:13:55.880> then<00:13:56.120> an<00:13:56.280> hour<00:13:56.440> and<00:13:56.560> a<00:13:56.640> half<00:13:56.960> back.
00:13:57.280 --> 00:14:01.560
And<00:13:57.440> and<00:13:57.680> you<00:13:57.760> know,<00:13:58.360> you<00:13:58.480> cannot<00:13:58.800> ask<00:13:59.160> that<00:13:59.800> of<00:14:00.000> people<00:14:00.320> for<00:14:00.560> for<00:14:00.880> for<00:14:01.120> all<00:14:01.320> day.
00:14:01.560 --> 00:14:05.400
So,<00:14:02.760> plus,<00:14:03.480> you<00:14:03.560> know,<00:14:03.640> we<00:14:03.800> are<00:14:03.880> a<00:14:03.920> startup,<00:14:04.400> we're<00:14:04.600> a<00:14:04.640> small<00:14:04.960> company.
00:14:05.400 --> 00:14:13.840
Often<00:14:05.640> times,<00:14:06.040> talent<00:14:06.480> is<00:14:06.680> actually<00:14:07.280> not<00:14:08.280> Well,<00:14:08.480> it's<00:14:09.120> it<00:14:09.320> is<00:14:09.480> around<00:14:09.760> here,<00:14:09.920> but<00:14:10.040> it's<00:14:10.680> So,<00:14:10.800> we<00:14:10.920> often<00:14:11.200> times<00:14:11.520> have<00:14:11.680> colleagues<00:14:12.040> that<00:14:12.160> are<00:14:12.280> actually<00:14:12.640> not<00:14:13.800> I
00:14:13.840 --> 00:14:18.760
mean,<00:14:13.960> they<00:14:14.080> cannot<00:14:14.360> drive<00:14:14.640> to<00:14:14.760> the<00:14:14.880> office<00:14:15.400> and<00:14:16.480> you<00:14:16.520> know,<00:14:16.680> we<00:14:16.800> have<00:14:16.960> to<00:14:17.040> be<00:14:17.160> fair<00:14:18.080> and<00:14:18.240> equitable.
00:14:18.760 --> 00:14:24.560
So,<00:14:18.960> we<00:14:19.160> allow<00:14:19.440> everybody<00:14:20.000> to<00:14:20.160> work<00:14:20.440> at<00:14:20.640> least<00:14:21.920> some<00:14:22.200> days<00:14:22.720> of<00:14:23.120> of<00:14:23.320> the<00:14:23.480> week<00:14:23.800> from<00:14:24.280> home.
00:14:24.560 --> 00:14:33.240
I<00:14:24.600> think<00:14:24.960> for<00:14:25.560> for<00:14:25.720> my<00:14:25.880> colleagues,<00:14:27.280> I<00:14:27.320> think<00:14:27.520> it's<00:14:27.640> harder<00:14:28.040> on<00:14:28.120> the<00:14:28.240> younger<00:14:28.640> people,<00:14:29.040> to<00:14:29.160> be<00:14:29.280> honest,<00:14:29.720> because<00:14:30.080> I<00:14:30.160> think<00:14:30.480> it's<00:14:30.680> harder<00:14:31.200> to<00:14:31.400> mentor<00:14:31.880> people<00:14:32.839> and
00:14:33.240 --> 00:14:37.360
over<00:14:33.600> Zoom,<00:14:34.200> right?<00:14:36.160> But<00:14:36.640> [Mhm].
00:14:37.360 --> 00:14:40.080
But<00:14:37.440> again,<00:14:37.720> it's<00:14:37.880> a<00:14:37.920> reality.<00:14:38.480> We<00:14:38.640> are<00:14:38.760> a<00:14:38.800> small<00:14:39.160> company.
00:14:40.080 --> 00:14:43.720
We<00:14:40.280> are<00:14:40.400> trying<00:14:40.760> to<00:14:40.880> be<00:14:41.000> respectful<00:14:41.560> of<00:14:41.680> everybody's<00:14:42.320> time.
00:14:43.720 --> 00:14:50.000
And<00:14:43.920> still,<00:14:44.680> you<00:14:44.760> know,<00:14:44.920> have<00:14:45.360> it<00:14:46.160> like<00:14:46.320> be<00:14:46.480> together<00:14:47.080> as<00:14:47.320> much<00:14:47.520> as<00:14:47.680> we<00:14:47.800> can.
00:14:50.000 --> 00:14:53.720
How<00:14:50.120> are<00:14:50.240> you<00:14:50.360> feeling<00:14:50.640> about<00:14:50.800> the<00:14:50.920> macroeconomic<00:14:51.920> environment<00:14:52.400> going<00:14:52.640> into<00:14:52.800> 2026?
00:14:53.720 --> 00:15:00.120
I<00:14:53.760> mean,<00:14:53.880> 2025<00:14:54.560> was<00:14:54.839> volatile<00:14:55.680> and<00:14:56.160> a<00:14:56.240> lot<00:14:56.400> of<00:14:56.520> kind<00:14:56.680> of<00:14:56.760> various<00:14:57.200> things<00:14:57.560> like<00:14:57.720> tariffs<00:14:58.200> and<00:14:58.320> or<00:14:58.480> other<00:14:58.720> things<00:14:58.960> kind<00:14:59.080> of<00:14:59.160> affected<00:14:59.640> it.
00:15:00.120 --> 00:15:04.680
How<00:15:00.280> are<00:15:00.440> you<00:15:00.600> thinking<00:15:00.960> about<00:15:01.240> it<00:15:01.360> going<00:15:01.600> into<00:15:01.760> 2026?
00:15:04.680 --> 00:15:07.640
I
00:15:07.640 --> 00:15:10.920
I<00:15:07.920> I'm<00:15:08.160> trying<00:15:08.520> to<00:15:08.640> always<00:15:09.000> be<00:15:09.640> cautiously<00:15:10.200> optimistic.
00:15:10.920 --> 00:15:13.720
I<00:15:11.160> I<00:15:11.320> think<00:15:11.680> there<00:15:11.960> are<00:15:12.120> a<00:15:12.240> lot<00:15:12.640> of<00:15:12.760> things<00:15:13.160> happening.
00:15:13.720 --> 00:15:16.240
It's<00:15:13.960> really<00:15:14.160> hard<00:15:14.440> to<00:15:14.560> keep<00:15:14.800> up<00:15:15.000> with<00:15:15.160> the<00:15:15.280> news.
00:15:16.240 --> 00:15:26.080
And<00:15:17.400> and<00:15:17.520> I'm<00:15:17.640> a<00:15:17.760> quant<00:15:18.360> and<00:15:18.560> the<00:15:18.680> market<00:15:19.240> essentially<00:15:19.680> has<00:15:19.880> not<00:15:20.160> really<00:15:20.400> responded<00:15:20.960> the<00:15:21.080> way<00:15:21.320> you<00:15:21.840> the<00:15:21.960> market<00:15:22.880> to<00:15:23.040> work<00:15:23.560> uh<00:15:25.040> logically.
00:15:26.080 --> 00:15:34.480
Um<00:15:26.520> and<00:15:26.760> so<00:15:28.200> so<00:15:28.320> I<00:15:28.400> think<00:15:29.400> when<00:15:29.600> we<00:15:29.720> talk<00:15:29.960> to<00:15:30.040> our<00:15:30.160> clients,<00:15:30.640> we<00:15:30.760> say,<00:15:30.960> "You<00:15:31.080> know,<00:15:31.960> be<00:15:32.520> diversified."
00:15:34.480 --> 00:15:36.920
Have<00:15:34.800> enough<00:15:35.560> if<00:15:35.840> something<00:15:36.320> happens.
00:15:36.920 --> 00:15:42.480
And<00:15:37.120> then<00:15:37.400> and<00:15:37.640> then<00:15:38.000> we'll<00:15:38.200> see<00:15:38.440> how<00:15:39.000> how<00:15:39.280> it<00:15:39.440> goes<00:15:39.800> and<00:15:39.960> how<00:15:40.160> it<00:15:40.320> plays<00:15:40.680> out."
00:15:42.480 --> 00:15:50.680
Uh,<00:15:42.720> I<00:15:42.800> love<00:15:43.080> it.<00:15:43.640> Uh,<00:15:43.760> finally,<00:15:44.160> we<00:15:44.360> end<00:15:44.600> every<00:15:44.880> interview<00:15:45.200> with<00:15:45.280> the<00:15:45.360> same<00:15:45.600> question,<00:15:46.120> and<00:15:46.320> that<00:15:46.560> is<00:15:46.760> at<00:15:46.960> ceo.com<00:15:47.960> we<00:15:48.120> believe<00:15:48.440> the<00:15:48.560> chances<00:15:49.040> one<00:15:49.360> gives<00:15:50.480> is
00:15:50.680 --> 00:15:53.160
just<00:15:51.000> as<00:15:51.080> important<00:15:51.440> as<00:15:51.560> the<00:15:51.640> chances<00:15:52.040> one<00:15:52.240> takes.
00:15:53.160 --> 00:15:58.160
When<00:15:53.440> you<00:15:53.600> hear<00:15:53.840> that,<00:15:54.080> who<00:15:54.240> gave<00:15:54.480> you<00:15:54.560> a<00:15:54.640> chance<00:15:54.920> to<00:15:55.040> get<00:15:55.160> you<00:15:55.280> to<00:15:55.360> where<00:15:55.520> you<00:15:55.720> are<00:15:55.840> today?
00:15:58.160 --> 00:16:06.480
Hm.<00:15:58.920> So,<00:15:59.160> my<00:15:59.560> my<00:15:59.720> MIT<00:16:00.120> advisor<00:16:01.240> uh<00:16:01.320> and<00:16:01.520> it's<00:16:01.640> actually<00:16:02.000> a<00:16:02.040> funny<00:16:02.320> story,<00:16:03.080> Kim,<00:16:03.280> because<00:16:03.600> I<00:16:04.920> I<00:16:05.160> graduated<00:16:05.960> from<00:16:06.240> in
00:16:06.480 --> 00:16:08.560
in<00:16:06.640> Greece<00:16:06.920> I<00:16:07.000> was<00:16:07.160> in<00:16:07.280> Greece<00:16:07.520> I<00:16:07.560> was<00:16:07.760> a<00:16:07.960> an<00:16:08.120> engineer.
00:16:08.560 --> 00:16:13.600
So,<00:16:08.720> I<00:16:08.800> graduated<00:16:09.240> from<00:16:09.400> Greece,<00:16:09.760> I<00:16:09.880> applied<00:16:10.280> to<00:16:10.360> MIT,<00:16:10.720> which<00:16:11.320> for<00:16:11.480> an<00:16:11.560> engineer<00:16:12.000> this<00:16:12.280> this<00:16:12.440> is<00:16:12.560> a<00:16:12.640> dream<00:16:12.920> place,<00:16:13.280> right?
00:16:13.600 --> 00:16:21.000
Right.<00:16:14.080> Um<00:16:14.680> and<00:16:15.160> and<00:16:16.200> and<00:16:16.320> now<00:16:16.600> I'm<00:16:16.880> aging<00:16:17.280> myself,<00:16:17.640> but<00:16:17.840> at<00:16:17.960> the<00:16:18.080> time<00:16:18.480> we<00:16:18.560> did<00:16:18.720> not<00:16:18.920> have<00:16:19.080> cell<00:16:19.280> phones,<00:16:19.640> we<00:16:19.720> had<00:16:19.960> landlines.
00:16:21.000 --> 00:16:29.320
So,<00:16:21.160> we<00:16:21.280> had<00:16:21.480> a<00:16:21.560> new<00:16:22.080> um<00:16:23.680> I<00:16:23.760> have<00:16:23.920> a<00:16:23.960> sister,<00:16:24.400> so<00:16:24.640> there<00:16:24.800> were<00:16:24.920> like<00:16:25.200> two<00:16:25.320> teenage<00:16:25.800> girls,<00:16:26.120> and<00:16:26.680> I<00:16:26.960> I<00:16:27.200> we<00:16:27.360> really<00:16:27.600> wanted<00:16:27.920> to<00:16:27.960> have<00:16:28.120> a<00:16:28.200> second<00:16:28.680> line<00:16:29.000> just
00:16:29.320 --> 00:16:32.280
for<00:16:29.480> us,<00:16:29.680> so<00:16:29.839> we<00:16:30.040> got<00:16:30.360> a<00:16:30.400> second<00:16:30.880> landline.
00:16:32.280 --> 00:16:37.960
And<00:16:32.400> that's<00:16:32.680> the<00:16:32.960> the<00:16:33.200> number<00:16:33.839> um<00:16:34.280> I<00:16:34.440> gave<00:16:34.880> to<00:16:35.520> MIT<00:16:35.920> and<00:16:36.040> all<00:16:36.120> the<00:16:36.240> places<00:16:36.680> that<00:16:36.880> I<00:16:37.240> I<00:16:37.400> applied.
00:16:37.960 --> 00:16:46.200
And<00:16:38.333> and<00:16:38.707> it<00:16:39.080> happens<00:16:39.453> that<00:16:39.827> this<00:16:40.200> number<00:16:40.573> belonged<00:16:40.947> to<00:16:41.320> um<00:16:41.693> to<00:16:42.067> an<00:16:42.440> OB-GYN<00:16:42.813> doctor,<00:16:43.187> so<00:16:43.560> people<00:16:43.933> were<00:16:44.307> calling<00:16:44.680> us<00:16:45.053> at<00:16:45.427> all<00:16:45.800> times.
00:16:46.200 --> 00:16:49.640
So,<00:16:46.320> you<00:16:46.400> know,<00:16:46.560> the<00:16:46.720> phone<00:16:47.040> rings,<00:16:47.400> and<00:16:47.560> I<00:16:47.680> pick<00:16:48.040> up,<00:16:48.760> and<00:16:49.000> I<00:16:49.080> say,<00:16:49.280> "Hello."
00:16:49.640 --> 00:16:51.839
And<00:16:49.760> no<00:16:49.880> one<00:16:50.040> responds,<00:16:50.800> so<00:16:50.920> I<00:16:51.000> hang<00:16:51.200> up.
00:16:51.839 --> 00:16:59.480
And<00:16:51.960> then<00:16:52.160> it<00:16:52.240> rings<00:16:52.400> again,<00:16:52.839> and<00:16:52.960> I<00:16:53.000> say,<00:16:53.200> "Hello."<00:16:53.560> And<00:16:53.680> no<00:16:53.800> one<00:16:54.120> So,<00:16:54.240> the<00:16:54.360> third<00:16:54.720> time<00:16:55.320> it's<00:16:55.480> this<00:16:55.640> guy<00:16:55.839> from<00:16:56.040> MIT<00:16:56.600> offering<00:16:57.080> me<00:16:57.760> a<00:16:57.839> position,<00:16:58.560> you<00:16:58.600> know,<00:16:58.760> at<00:16:58.839> the<00:16:58.920> Operations
00:16:59.480 --> 00:17:05.360
Research<00:16:59.800> Center.<00:17:00.880> And<00:17:01.040> I<00:17:01.120> was<00:17:01.440> so<00:17:01.600> lucky,<00:17:02.240> because<00:17:02.640> if<00:17:03.160> he<00:17:03.320> told<00:17:03.600> me<00:17:03.680> that<00:17:03.880> was<00:17:04.040> my<00:17:04.199> last<00:17:04.480> chance.
00:17:05.360 --> 00:17:08.760
You<00:17:05.439> know,<00:17:05.560> he<00:17:05.800> was<00:17:06.040> not<00:17:06.280> the<00:17:06.360> kind<00:17:06.600> of<00:17:06.720> person<00:17:07.120> where<00:17:07.280> you<00:17:07.400> hang<00:17:07.640> up<00:17:07.760> the<00:17:07.880> phone<00:17:08.120> to.
00:17:08.760 --> 00:17:11.160
So,<00:17:10.120> so<00:17:10.240> he<00:17:10.400> gave<00:17:10.680> me<00:17:10.800> a<00:17:10.839> chance.
00:17:11.160 --> 00:17:19.600
He<00:17:11.360> brought<00:17:11.720> me<00:17:11.839> from<00:17:12.480> from<00:17:12.880> Greece<00:17:13.319> to<00:17:13.680> to<00:17:13.800> MIT,<00:17:14.319> and<00:17:14.480> then,<00:17:15.120> you<00:17:15.199> know,<00:17:15.240> I<00:17:15.360> stayed<00:17:16.760> forever<00:17:17.079> here,<00:17:17.480> so<00:17:17.959> I'm<00:17:18.079> grateful<00:17:18.480> for<00:17:18.640> that.
00:17:19.600 --> 00:17:23.319
That's<00:17:19.880> incredible.<00:17:20.760> Oh<00:17:20.800> my<00:17:20.959> god.<00:17:21.240> Gina,<00:17:21.839> thank<00:17:22.040> you<00:17:22.160> so<00:17:22.280> much<00:17:22.480> for<00:17:22.600> coming<00:17:22.839> on<00:17:22.920> the<00:17:23.000> show.
