GoAERO Founder & CEO Gwen Lighter: Life-saving drones

Show notes

Gwen Lighter is building the aircraft that gets there

Traffic was the problem. Gwen Lighter's father had chest palpitations; the family called 911, and the ambulance came fast. Then it hit traffic. Lighter followed in her own car, repeating two words at the windshield.

"I remember in my car trailing the ambulance saying over and over again, please move, please move, please move," she told the CEO.com Podcast. "I thought at that moment that this was ridiculous, that anybody could be in this situation when we did not need to be."

Her father made it in time. Many people do not. Researchers at the Maine Rural Health Research Center count 4.5 million Americans living in "ambulance deserts," more than 25 minutes from the nearest ambulance station. That figure describes an ordinary day, before a flood in Texas or a fire in Los Angeles or an earthquake in Turkey takes the roads out entirely.

Lighter's answer is GoAERO, a competition offering more than $2 million in prizes to the teams that can build an Emergency Response Flyer: a safe, portable, autonomy-enabled aircraft that carries a first responder to a person in need, carries the person out, or carries supplies in when nothing with wheels can move.

She is not an aerospace engineer. She went to Brown, then Harvard Law, worked at Morgan Stanley, and clerked for a federal judge. Her first recruiting target was Boeing, where she met then-CTO John Tracy. Boeing stayed through two of his successors, Greg Hyslop and Howard McKenzie, and introduced her to NASA, where she worked with Robert Pearce, who led the agency's aeronautics research, and the team at NASA Ames. RTX chief scientist Michael Winter and Geoff Hunt followed. The partner list is now more than 20 organizations long.

Her account of how a lawyer assembled that room: "The underlying mission resonates with everyone. When I was behind that ambulance, it was me at that moment, but you understand it. Your colleagues understand it. Your friends understand it."

The competition runs in three stages. Stage 1 was the paper stage; in February 2025, GoAERO awarded $500,000 to 11 winners and 14 U.S. university teams supported by NASA. Stage 2 was the prototype stage; in December 2025, eight teams from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands split $320,000 for aircraft that actually flew. More than 200 teams from 85 countries remain in the field, and new teams can still enter. Stage 3 is the full-scale flyer, which ends at a multi-day Fly-Off at NASA Ames Research Center in the San Francisco Bay Area, scheduled for April 2027.

The Fly-Off has three missions. Productivity is back and forth, back and forth: fire retardant runs, repeated rescues. Maneuverability is in and out, up and down, tight corners. Adversity is high winds, low visibility, bad weather. "Whatever Mother Nature throws at us," Lighter said. There is a $1 million grand prize, an Autonomy Prize, an RTX Disruptor Prize, and a prize for each mission. A team can chase all of them or one.

Lighter wants many winners, not one. "Some may be better at the adversity missions, and some may be the best in autonomy," she said. "We have given to the world these first stages of these flyers to then be worked upon and improved and tested and bettered."

Asked what the teams are struggling with, she declined to rank the difficulties. "Everything is tough. It would be difficult to build something that stays on the ground. We're adding gravity to that."

This is her second competition. Since 2017, she has run GoFly, which drew 854 teams and 3,800 innovators from 103 countries to build personal flying devices, jetpacks, and flying motorcycles among them, before flying taxis were dinner conversation. The technology that made GoFly possible now feeds GoAERO: batteries that keep improving, sense-and-avoid systems from the drone world, 3D metal printing that lets a garage team build what once required Boeing.

The aircraft may be the easier half. Emergency response has no single buyer. Purchasing happens at the municipal level, at FEMA, and differently in Spain than in Australia. So Lighter is on a plane most weeks, meeting governments, regulators, and universities. "We're trying to bring everyone together to not only create these emergency response flyers, but also to create the framework for them to be able to be deployed, so that after the competition they're eventually in use and they are saving lives," she said.

Her staff has stayed with her from GoFly to GoAERO. "We've never lost anybody," she said. "It's still the same team, because we so enjoy working together, because we believe in the mission."

Every CEO.com Podcast conversation ends with the same question, built on the belief that the chances one gives matter as much as the chances one takes. Asked who gave her a chance, Lighter did not name an investor. She named her father, who tries to leave every room better than he found it. Her mother, who made her strong. Her children, her team, the teams building the aircraft, the people at the FAA.

"I go through life with people who give us chances to do well and to do good," she said. "We don't always get it right, but we certainly try."

00:01:37.381 --> 00:01:51.478
You<00:01:37.541> had<00:01:37.927> asked<00:01:38.810> how<00:01:39.307> this<00:01:39.709> started,<00:01:40.737> and<00:01:41.074> it<00:01:41.154> was<00:01:41.315> from<00:01:41.539> a<00:01:41.796> very<00:01:44.831> a<00:01:45.553> personal<00:01:47.079> event,<00:01:48.203> but<00:01:48.701> one<00:01:49.022> that<00:01:49.247> is<00:01:49.487> truly<00:01:50.065> applicable<00:01:50.772> worldwide.

00:01:52.699 --> 00:01:58.543
I<00:01:52.859> was<00:01:53.020> with<00:01:53.180> my<00:01:53.357> parents<00:01:53.694> several<00:01:54.080> years<00:01:54.320> ago<00:01:55.187> and<00:01:56.247> my<00:01:56.488> father<00:01:56.729> started<00:01:57.114> having<00:01:57.516> chest<00:01:57.853> palpitations.

00:01:58.961 --> 00:02:01.626
And<00:01:59.137> so<00:01:59.282> we<00:01:59.378> called<00:01:59.603> the<00:01:59.699> ambulance,<00:02:00.374> called<00:02:00.823> 911.

00:02:01.867 --> 00:02:08.563
The<00:02:02.012> ambulance<00:02:02.429> came,<00:02:02.895> he<00:02:03.152> got<00:02:03.328> into<00:02:03.537> the<00:02:03.697> ambulance<00:02:04.195> and<00:02:04.420> I<00:02:04.661> followed<00:02:06.026> in<00:02:06.186> my<00:02:06.507> car<00:02:07.150> behind<00:02:07.728> the<00:02:07.888> ambulance.

00:02:09.157 --> 00:02:09.960
And<00:02:09.253> it<00:02:09.333> was<00:02:09.478> a<00:02:09.558> beautiful<00:02:09.879> day.

00:02:10.458 --> 00:02:15.774
The<00:02:10.538> sun<00:02:10.939> was<00:02:11.100> shining,<00:02:12.289> but<00:02:12.385> there<00:02:12.465> was<00:02:12.610> a<00:02:12.690> whole<00:02:13.172> lot<00:02:13.349> of<00:02:13.493> traffic<00:02:14.537> getting<00:02:14.939> to<00:02:15.035> the<00:02:15.115> hospital.

00:02:16.384 --> 00:02:27.851
And<00:02:16.480> I<00:02:16.625> remember<00:02:17.669> in<00:02:18.648> my<00:02:18.954> car<00:02:20.255> trailing<00:02:20.817> the<00:02:21.041> ambulance<00:02:21.459> saying<00:02:22.005> over<00:02:22.423> and<00:02:22.728> over<00:02:22.985> again,<00:02:23.884> please<00:02:24.735> move,<00:02:25.378> please<00:02:26.020> move,<00:02:26.679> please<00:02:27.482> move.

00:02:28.590 --> 00:02:44.175
And<00:02:28.686> I<00:02:28.911> thought<00:02:29.232> at<00:02:29.393> that<00:02:29.650> moment<00:02:30.838> that<00:02:31.015> this<00:02:31.240> was<00:02:31.417> ridiculous,<00:02:32.460> that<00:02:33.247> anybody<00:02:34.211> could<00:02:34.388> be<00:02:34.709> in<00:02:34.950> this<00:02:35.400> situation<00:02:36.218> when<00:02:36.378> we<00:02:36.555> did<00:02:36.715> not<00:02:37.036> need<00:02:37.437> to<00:02:37.662> be,<00:02:38.464> and<00:02:38.640> that<00:02:39.523> the<00:02:39.619> situation<00:02:40.148> that<00:02:40.309> I<00:02:40.469> was<00:02:40.630> in<00:02:40.790> was<00:02:40.951> not<00:02:41.287> unique<00:02:42.250> at<00:02:42.491> that<00:02:42.876> moment<00:02:43.453> in<00:02:43.614> time.

00:02:44.400 --> 00:02:55.887
And<00:02:44.721> now,<00:02:45.443> as<00:02:45.699> we<00:02:45.860> are<00:02:45.956> speaking,<00:02:47.063> there<00:02:47.143> are<00:02:47.288> hundreds<00:02:47.849> of<00:02:47.946> people,<00:02:48.266> perhaps<00:02:48.587> thousands<00:02:49.004> of<00:02:49.069> people<00:02:49.470> around<00:02:49.871> the<00:02:50.031> globe<00:02:50.930> saying,<00:02:51.395> please<00:02:51.956> move,<00:02:52.582> or<00:02:52.919> please<00:02:53.481> get<00:02:53.721> my,<00:02:54.186> my<00:02:54.507> loved<00:02:54.764> one<00:02:54.989> to<00:02:55.085> the<00:02:55.229> hospital.

00:02:56.609 --> 00:03:10.161
And<00:02:56.785> so<00:02:57.716> given<00:02:58.759> that<00:02:59.497> we<00:02:59.657> are<00:02:59.882> truly<00:03:00.459> in<00:03:00.684> this<00:03:01.487> golden<00:03:02.129> age<00:03:02.547> of<00:03:02.852> aviation<00:03:04.153> where<00:03:04.490> there's<00:03:04.796> convergence<00:03:05.454> of<00:03:05.519> so<00:03:05.920> many<00:03:06.145> breakthrough<00:03:06.482> technologies,<00:03:07.286> which<00:03:07.462> I'm<00:03:07.671> happy<00:03:07.928> to<00:03:08.555> list<00:03:09.053> or<00:03:09.133> speak<00:03:09.454> about<00:03:09.759> should<00:03:09.920> you<00:03:10.016> wish.

00:03:10.563 --> 00:03:31.557
But<00:03:10.804> given<00:03:11.045> that<00:03:11.205> we're<00:03:11.446> in<00:03:11.623> this<00:03:11.928> moment,<00:03:13.069> we<00:03:13.213> should<00:03:13.470> be<00:03:13.695> harnessing<00:03:15.398> these<00:03:15.719> cutting-edge<00:03:16.442> technologies,<00:03:17.743> harnessing<00:03:19.157> these<00:03:19.558> transformative<00:03:20.924> aviation<00:03:22.868> missions<00:03:23.735> and<00:03:23.831> ideas<00:03:24.554> to<00:03:24.779> be<00:03:25.101> able<00:03:25.518> to<00:03:25.920> actually<00:03:26.643> create<00:03:27.028> emergency<00:03:27.607> response<00:03:28.169> aircraft<00:03:28.860> that<00:03:29.277> help<00:03:29.614> us<00:03:29.935> all<00:03:30.401> when<00:03:30.642> we<00:03:30.754> need<00:03:30.995> it<00:03:31.140> most.

00:03:32.167 --> 00:03:33.548
And<00:03:32.264> that's<00:03:32.585> how<00:03:32.745> it<00:03:32.825> all<00:03:32.922> started.

00:03:33.949 --> 00:03:41.833
We<00:03:34.110> were<00:03:34.431> very<00:03:34.752> fortunate<00:03:35.378> to<00:03:35.539> be<00:03:35.716> able<00:03:35.957> to<00:03:36.197> bring<00:03:36.502> on<00:03:37.016> some<00:03:37.241> of<00:03:37.402> most<00:03:37.803> phenomenal<00:03:38.847> partners<00:03:39.874> in<00:03:40.051> aerospace<00:03:40.693> and<00:03:40.838> first<00:03:41.175> response.

00:03:42.299 --> 00:03:49.091
And<00:03:42.379> I<00:03:42.620> think<00:03:42.925> that<00:03:43.021> we<00:03:43.182> were<00:03:43.487> able<00:03:43.744> to<00:03:43.985> do<00:03:44.226> it<00:03:44.948> because<00:03:45.510> the<00:03:45.815> underlying<00:03:46.490> mission<00:03:47.822> resonates<00:03:48.545> with<00:03:48.705> everyone.

00:03:49.605 --> 00:03:54.229
Yeah,<00:03:49.829> tell<00:03:49.974> me<00:03:50.086> your<00:03:50.311> pitch<00:03:50.568> to<00:03:50.729> these<00:03:50.889> incredible<00:03:51.435> partners<00:03:52.158> and<00:03:52.318> what<00:03:52.415> got<00:03:52.655> them<00:03:52.832> excited<00:03:53.298> to<00:03:53.378> be<00:03:53.539> so<00:03:53.699> involved.

00:03:54.422 --> 00:04:01.063
So<00:03:56.657> our<00:03:57.075> first<00:03:57.638> partner<00:03:58.185> that<00:03:58.442> we<00:03:58.683> brought<00:03:59.230> on<00:04:00.275> was<00:04:00.693> Boeing.

00:04:01.562 --> 00:04:11.427
And<00:04:03.587> we<00:04:04.631> had<00:04:05.113> met<00:04:05.659> with<00:04:06.864> the<00:04:08.069> chief<00:04:08.310> engineer,<00:04:08.728> CTO<00:04:09.756> at<00:04:09.917> that<00:04:10.094> time,<00:04:10.576> John<00:04:10.897> Tracy.

00:04:11.877 --> 00:04:13.796
He<00:04:11.990> was<00:04:12.167> a<00:04:12.506> big<00:04:12.683> supporter<00:04:13.312> of<00:04:13.457> us.

00:04:14.602 --> 00:04:16.134
Then<00:04:15.247> he<00:04:15.489> retired.

00:04:16.214 --> 00:04:19.455
Greg<00:04:16.601> Hyslop<00:04:17.117> came<00:04:17.488> on<00:04:17.891> as<00:04:18.149> the<00:04:18.294> chief<00:04:18.552> engineer,<00:04:18.972> CTO.

00:04:20.070 --> 00:04:23.872
Boeing<00:04:20.976> also<00:04:21.380> really<00:04:21.947> rallied<00:04:22.448> behind<00:04:23.096> what<00:04:23.257> we<00:04:23.419> were<00:04:23.581> doing.

00:04:24.536 --> 00:04:29.966
And<00:04:24.940> now<00:04:25.361> we<00:04:25.668> work<00:04:26.089> with<00:04:26.478> Howard<00:04:26.736> McKenzie,<00:04:27.529> who<00:04:27.691> was<00:04:27.934> there,<00:04:28.338> who<00:04:28.500> has<00:04:28.743> been<00:04:28.856> a<00:04:28.970> phenomenal<00:04:29.628> partner.

00:04:30.609 --> 00:04:37.085
With<00:04:31.010> Boeing,<00:04:31.814> we<00:04:32.859> were<00:04:33.244> able<00:04:33.903> to<00:04:35.334> meet<00:04:36.234> the<00:04:36.330> NASA<00:04:36.796> team.

00:04:37.519 --> 00:04:47.136
We<00:04:37.825> go<00:04:38.147> into<00:04:38.793> headquarters<00:04:39.779> with<00:04:41.477> Bob<00:04:41.720> Pierce,<00:04:42.205> Robert<00:04:42.609> Pierce,<00:04:42.932> who's<00:04:43.094> head<00:04:43.256> of<00:04:43.498> the—<00:04:43.821> I<00:04:43.902> believe<00:04:44.080> his<00:04:44.307> title<00:04:44.533> is<00:04:44.630> the<00:04:44.711> Associate<00:04:45.131> Administrator<00:04:46.085> of<00:04:46.247> Aviation<00:04:46.813> at<00:04:46.958> NASA.

00:04:47.201 --> 00:04:48.704
He's<00:04:47.378> head<00:04:47.443> of<00:04:47.670> all<00:04:47.768> the<00:04:48.014> aviation<00:04:48.523> there.

00:04:49.163 --> 00:05:04.713
We<00:04:49.491> work<00:04:49.606> a<00:04:49.623> tremendous<00:04:49.918> amount<00:04:50.370> tremendous<00:04:50.819> amount<00:04:51.669> with<00:04:52.552> NASA<00:04:53.113> Ames<00:04:54.958> and<00:04:57.140> the<00:04:57.381> team<00:04:58.023> there,<00:04:58.488> the<00:04:58.680> center<00:04:59.065> director,<00:04:59.932> so<00:05:00.253> many<00:05:00.493> different<00:05:00.750> people<00:05:01.071> who<00:05:01.231> are<00:05:01.472> just<00:05:02.194> the,<00:05:02.579> the<00:05:02.836> biggest<00:05:03.237> brains<00:05:03.718> and<00:05:03.863> the<00:05:04.039> best<00:05:04.360> hearts.

00:05:05.323 --> 00:05:16.826
We<00:05:05.547> have<00:05:05.804> been<00:05:06.109> very<00:05:06.366> fortunate<00:05:07.248> to<00:05:07.408> be<00:05:07.649> able<00:05:07.954> to<00:05:08.195> work<00:05:08.451> with<00:05:08.788> RTX,<00:05:10.296> chief<00:05:10.537> scientist<00:05:11.243> there<00:05:11.740> Michael<00:05:12.222> Winter,<00:05:12.863> especially<00:05:14.372> Jeff<00:05:14.693> Hunt,<00:05:15.094> who<00:05:15.174> has<00:05:15.350> been<00:05:15.511> a<00:05:15.591> huge<00:05:16.072> supporter<00:05:16.714> there.

00:05:17.340 --> 00:05:33.734
We<00:05:17.597> have<00:05:17.982> had<00:05:19.922> the<00:05:20.307> good<00:05:20.547> fortune<00:05:21.845> of<00:05:22.165> being<00:05:22.630> able<00:05:23.127> to<00:05:23.591> partner<00:05:25.450> with<00:05:25.690> some<00:05:26.395> of<00:05:26.972> the<00:05:28.078> best<00:05:28.334> engineers<00:05:28.975> on<00:05:29.119> the<00:05:29.215> planet<00:05:30.257> to<00:05:30.497> do<00:05:32.083> both<00:05:32.420> well<00:05:33.125> and<00:05:33.461> good.

00:05:34.006 --> 00:05:40.383
And<00:05:34.423> so<00:05:35.448> we<00:05:36.730> are<00:05:36.826> so<00:05:37.067> thankful<00:05:38.172> to<00:05:38.268> have<00:05:38.493> those<00:05:38.733> opportunities<00:05:39.310> to<00:05:39.550> work<00:05:39.710> with<00:05:39.855> our<00:05:40.015> partners.

00:05:40.431 --> 00:05:47.209
And<00:05:40.576> frankly,<00:05:41.216> every<00:05:41.713> day,<00:05:43.219> we<00:05:43.396> are<00:05:43.556> bringing<00:05:43.940> on<00:05:44.117> new<00:05:44.357> partners<00:05:44.998> and<00:05:45.158> new<00:05:45.478> amazing<00:05:46.039> teams<00:05:46.440> around<00:05:46.744> the<00:05:46.904> world.

00:05:47.626 --> 00:05:58.559
Right<00:05:47.966> now,<00:05:49.810> we<00:05:50.215> have<00:05:50.716> signed<00:05:51.186> up<00:05:51.671> over<00:05:52.335> 200<00:05:52.966> teams<00:05:53.775> from<00:05:54.098> 85<00:05:54.843> different<00:05:55.150> countries<00:05:55.959> that<00:05:56.380> are<00:05:56.510> participating<00:05:57.672> in<00:05:57.914> Go<00:05:58.156> Aero.

00:05:58.882 --> 00:06:12.572
So<00:05:59.285> we<00:05:59.673> think<00:06:00.238> that<00:06:00.560> at<00:06:00.738> the<00:06:01.045> end<00:06:01.319> of<00:06:01.464> the<00:06:01.609> competition,<00:06:03.090> there<00:06:03.202> will<00:06:03.605> be<00:06:04.651> numerous<00:06:05.295> types<00:06:06.325> of<00:06:06.744> first<00:06:07.227> response<00:06:07.935> flyers,<00:06:08.821> emergency<00:06:09.416> response<00:06:09.964> flyers,<00:06:10.994> and<00:06:11.397> that's<00:06:11.574> a<00:06:11.654> good<00:06:11.815> thing<00:06:12.057> for<00:06:12.202> all<00:06:12.234> of<00:06:12.363> us.

00:06:13.959 --> 00:06:15.212
Yeah,<00:06:14.441> yeah,<00:06:14.778> for<00:06:14.922> sure.

00:06:15.404 --> 00:06:18.360
And<00:06:15.806> the<00:06:15.902> difference<00:06:16.288> you're<00:06:16.368> making<00:06:16.770> here<00:06:17.171> is<00:06:17.669> unbelievable.

00:06:18.408 --> 00:06:22.327
So<00:06:18.633> give<00:06:18.810> us<00:06:18.954> a<00:06:19.019> sense<00:06:19.259> for<00:06:19.500> what<00:06:19.693> stage<00:06:20.416> of<00:06:20.561> the<00:06:20.721> prize<00:06:21.508> are<00:06:21.669> we<00:06:21.910> in<00:06:22.070> right<00:06:22.247> now?

00:06:22.954 --> 00:06:27.596
So<00:06:23.355> Clint,<00:06:23.693> we<00:06:24.175> divided<00:06:25.299> the<00:06:25.685> competition<00:06:26.327> into<00:06:26.584> 3<00:06:26.825> different<00:06:27.082> stages.

00:06:27.949 --> 00:06:30.536
And<00:06:28.110> when<00:06:28.255> we<00:06:28.335> say<00:06:28.592> them,<00:06:28.753> you'll<00:06:28.897> say,<00:06:29.154> of<00:06:29.299> course,<00:06:29.716> because<00:06:30.038> it's<00:06:30.198> natural.

00:06:31.162 --> 00:06:33.186
The<00:06:31.307> 3<00:06:31.467> stages<00:06:31.869> are<00:06:32.286> the<00:06:32.431> paper<00:06:32.752> stage.

00:06:33.250 --> 00:06:36.527
Obviously<00:06:33.571> nothing's<00:06:33.957> paper,<00:06:34.294> it's<00:06:34.455> a<00:06:34.535> digital<00:06:34.856> submission,<00:06:35.403> but<00:06:35.563> the<00:06:35.660> paper<00:06:35.997> stage.

00:06:37.105 --> 00:06:38.503
And<00:06:37.266> we've<00:06:37.491> already—<00:06:37.812> that's<00:06:38.053> stage<00:06:38.390> 1.

00:06:38.631 --> 00:06:41.025
We've<00:06:38.856> awarded<00:06:39.274> the<00:06:39.418> prizes<00:06:39.997> for<00:06:40.238> that<00:06:40.623> already.

00:06:41.667 --> 00:06:44.187
And<00:06:41.763> then<00:06:41.940> Stage<00:06:42.469> 2<00:06:42.742> is<00:06:42.887> the<00:06:43.047> prototype<00:06:43.689> stage.

00:06:44.475 --> 00:06:47.477
Prototypes<00:06:44.973> can<00:06:45.214> be<00:06:45.358> full-scale<00:06:46.401> or<00:06:46.514> subscale.

00:06:47.557 --> 00:06:55.164
So<00:06:48.263> the<00:06:49.724> submissions,<00:06:50.911> those<00:06:51.056> Stage<00:06:51.473> 2<00:06:51.618> submissions,<00:06:53.383> are<00:06:53.624> due<00:06:54.041> September<00:06:54.763> 30th.

00:06:55.309 --> 00:06:57.026
So<00:06:55.550> that<00:06:55.790> is<00:06:55.967> certainly<00:06:56.368> coming<00:06:56.834> up.

00:06:57.797 --> 00:07:06.961
We<00:06:57.893> will<00:06:58.053> award<00:06:58.439> those<00:06:58.695> prizes<00:07:00.605> in<00:07:01.023> November,<00:07:02.066> and<00:07:02.306> then<00:07:03.189> we<00:07:03.334> will<00:07:03.494> go<00:07:03.671> into<00:07:03.847> Stage<00:07:04.393> 3,<00:07:04.794> which<00:07:05.035> is<00:07:05.195> the<00:07:05.356> full-scale<00:07:06.319> flyer.

00:07:07.507 --> 00:07:12.532
And<00:07:07.619> so<00:07:07.828> that's<00:07:08.085> when<00:07:08.229> the<00:07:08.326> teams<00:07:08.711> are<00:07:09.032> building<00:07:10.718> their,<00:07:11.039> their<00:07:11.232> full-scale<00:07:11.938> aircraft.

00:07:12.886 --> 00:07:30.725
And<00:07:13.287> that<00:07:13.849> will<00:07:14.491> then<00:07:14.812> take<00:07:15.214> us<00:07:15.535> to<00:07:16.900> the<00:07:17.060> culmination<00:07:18.505> of<00:07:19.228> our<00:07:19.629> Go<00:07:20.031> Aero<00:07:20.352> competition,<00:07:21.476> which<00:07:21.813> is<00:07:22.054> the<00:07:22.134> final<00:07:22.616> fly-off,<00:07:23.499> which<00:07:23.884> is<00:07:24.141> this<00:07:24.527> multi-day<00:07:25.410> event<00:07:25.827> that<00:07:26.052> we<00:07:26.148> just<00:07:26.389> announced<00:07:26.775> we'll<00:07:26.871> be<00:07:27.015> hosting<00:07:27.577> at<00:07:27.754> NASA<00:07:28.300> Ames,<00:07:28.701> which<00:07:28.878> is<00:07:29.023> in<00:07:29.119> the<00:07:29.183> San<00:07:29.376> Francisco<00:07:29.986> Bay<00:07:30.243> Area.

00:07:31.270 --> 00:07:42.957
And<00:07:33.132> We<00:07:33.918> at—<00:07:34.671> in<00:07:34.895> conjunction<00:07:35.360> with<00:07:35.456> NASA<00:07:35.841> Ames<00:07:36.338> and<00:07:36.418> with<00:07:36.562> our<00:07:36.722> partners,<00:07:37.460> we<00:07:37.540> will<00:07:37.684> have<00:07:38.004> all<00:07:38.181> of<00:07:38.325> the<00:07:38.421> teams<00:07:39.158> fly<00:07:40.104> through<00:07:40.986> the<00:07:41.226> 3<00:07:41.867> different<00:07:42.428> missions.

00:07:43.374 --> 00:07:45.665
They<00:07:43.614> are<00:07:44.672> productivity,<00:07:45.537> right?

00:07:45.778 --> 00:07:47.733
Think<00:07:46.034> back<00:07:46.210> and<00:07:46.291> forth,<00:07:46.659> back<00:07:46.819> and<00:07:46.900> forth,<00:07:47.220> back<00:07:47.396> and<00:07:47.477> forth.

00:07:47.797 --> 00:07:58.856
You<00:07:47.941> can<00:07:48.102> imagine<00:07:48.823> in<00:07:48.999> a<00:07:49.224> wildfire<00:07:49.897> setting<00:07:50.666> how<00:07:50.842> it<00:07:50.922> is<00:07:51.147> very<00:07:51.547> important<00:07:51.948> to<00:07:51.980> go<00:07:52.124> back<00:07:52.365> and<00:07:52.445> forth<00:07:53.150> with<00:07:53.903> fire<00:07:54.128> retardant,<00:07:55.410> with,<00:07:56.275> you<00:07:56.308> know,<00:07:57.013> rescuing<00:07:57.574> people<00:07:57.894> that<00:07:58.135> need<00:07:58.439> that,<00:07:58.615> right?

00:07:59.801 --> 00:08:03.760
Also<00:08:00.539> in<00:08:00.923> the<00:08:01.003> floods<00:08:01.420> that<00:08:01.645> we<00:08:01.741> just<00:08:01.869> experienced,<00:08:02.222> experienced<00:08:02.638> in<00:08:02.782> Texas,<00:08:03.327> right?

00:08:03.824 --> 00:08:05.924
To<00:08:03.984> be<00:08:04.209> able<00:08:04.385> to<00:08:04.626> rescue<00:08:05.090> people<00:08:05.411> who<00:08:05.571> need<00:08:05.812> that.

00:08:05.988 --> 00:08:07.158
That's<00:08:06.228> the<00:08:06.308> productivity<00:08:06.805> mission.

00:08:07.911 --> 00:08:10.764
The<00:08:07.991> second<00:08:08.776> mission<00:08:09.658> is<00:08:09.995> maneuverability.

00:08:11.036 --> 00:08:23.297
Think<00:08:11.213> of<00:08:11.357> it<00:08:11.741> in<00:08:11.918> and<00:08:12.142> out<00:08:12.399> and<00:08:12.623> up<00:08:12.879> and<00:08:13.040> down,<00:08:13.841> tight<00:08:14.226> corners,<00:08:14.947> all<00:08:15.267> of<00:08:15.428> that<00:08:15.764> to<00:08:15.924> be<00:08:16.389> able<00:08:16.806> to<00:08:17.287> function<00:08:17.848> in<00:08:18.473> adverse<00:08:18.969> environments,<00:08:19.915> natural<00:08:20.556> disaster<00:08:21.037> kind<00:08:21.229> of<00:08:21.374> climates<00:08:22.079> and<00:08:22.720> all<00:08:22.896> of<00:08:22.976> that.

00:08:23.761 --> 00:08:25.108
And<00:08:23.922> so<00:08:24.162> that's<00:08:24.403> the<00:08:24.435> adversity<00:08:24.899> mission.

00:08:25.460 --> 00:08:29.339
And<00:08:25.540> then<00:08:25.765> the<00:08:26.406> third<00:08:26.742> mission<00:08:27.384> we<00:08:27.784> have—<00:08:27.928> I'm<00:08:28.009> sorry,<00:08:28.185> that's<00:08:28.281> the<00:08:28.425> maneuverability<00:08:29.082> mission.

00:08:29.531 --> 00:08:31.839
The<00:08:29.707> third<00:08:29.948> mission<00:08:30.332> we<00:08:30.429> have<00:08:31.054> is<00:08:31.230> adversity.

00:08:32.159 --> 00:08:41.046
Think<00:08:33.137> high<00:08:33.474> winds,<00:08:34.019> low<00:08:34.116> visibility,<00:08:35.142> bad<00:08:35.463> weather,<00:08:36.265> all<00:08:36.426> of<00:08:36.522> the<00:08:36.682> things<00:08:36.923> that<00:08:37.083> you<00:08:37.228> would<00:08:37.340> expect<00:08:38.190> in,<00:08:38.752> you<00:08:38.784> know,<00:08:38.928> whatever<00:08:39.249> Mother<00:08:39.570> Nature<00:08:39.971> throws<00:08:40.597> at<00:08:40.773> us.

00:08:41.639 --> 00:08:44.110
And<00:08:41.736> so<00:08:41.960> we<00:08:42.057> have<00:08:42.281> prizes<00:08:42.762> for<00:08:43.083> each<00:08:43.276> of<00:08:43.420> those<00:08:43.725> missions.

00:08:44.463 --> 00:08:46.356
We<00:08:44.607> also<00:08:44.784> have<00:08:45.169> an<00:08:45.249> autonomy<00:08:45.971> prize.

00:08:46.773 --> 00:08:48.762
We<00:08:46.933> have<00:08:47.126> an<00:08:47.351> RTX<00:08:47.832> Disruptor<00:08:48.393> Prize.

00:08:49.099 --> 00:08:55.243
And<00:08:49.195> then,<00:08:49.420> of<00:08:49.516> course,<00:08:49.821> we<00:08:49.917> have<00:08:50.142> a<00:08:50.238> $1<00:08:50.479> million<00:08:51.185> grand<00:08:51.522> prize<00:08:52.243> for<00:08:52.404> the<00:08:52.548> team<00:08:52.789> that<00:08:52.949> does<00:08:53.190> the<00:08:53.286> best<00:08:53.751> in<00:08:53.928> those<00:08:54.329> 3<00:08:54.874> missions.

00:08:55.356 --> 00:09:00.472
And<00:08:55.452> teams<00:08:55.757> can<00:08:55.805> decide<00:08:56.174> to<00:08:56.318> participate<00:08:56.751> in<00:08:56.960> all<00:08:57.056> of<00:08:57.136> the<00:08:57.217> missions<00:08:57.714> or<00:08:57.778> focus<00:08:58.179> on<00:08:58.340> just<00:08:58.902> one<00:08:59.222> or<00:08:59.446> two<00:08:59.783> of<00:08:59.927> the<00:09:00.023> missions.

00:09:00.984 --> 00:09:14.458
And<00:09:01.081> I<00:09:01.225> guess<00:09:01.465> that<00:09:01.625> gets<00:09:01.930> to<00:09:02.026> the<00:09:02.106> point<00:09:02.571> that<00:09:04.830> competitions<00:09:05.855> are<00:09:05.951> a<00:09:05.967> phenomenal<00:09:06.832> way<00:09:07.873> to<00:09:08.018> have<00:09:08.130> a<00:09:08.194> very<00:09:08.659> frothy,<00:09:10.341> robust<00:09:11.302> seeding<00:09:12.584> of<00:09:13.224> a<00:09:13.257> new<00:09:13.545> industry,<00:09:14.266> right?

00:09:14.522 --> 00:09:29.245
Because<00:09:14.859> success<00:09:15.483> for<00:09:15.788> us<00:09:16.204> is<00:09:16.365> that<00:09:17.005> it's<00:09:17.166> not<00:09:17.550> that<00:09:17.790> there's<00:09:18.047> just<00:09:18.447> one<00:09:19.152> grand<00:09:19.489> prize<00:09:19.953> winner,<00:09:20.674> but<00:09:20.850> there<00:09:21.155> are<00:09:21.251> multiple<00:09:22.116> teams<00:09:22.613> and<00:09:22.709> some<00:09:23.157> may<00:09:23.334> be<00:09:23.494> better<00:09:24.055> at<00:09:24.199> the<00:09:24.311> Adversity<00:09:25.000> missions<00:09:25.336> and<00:09:25.497> some<00:09:25.801> may<00:09:25.977> be<00:09:26.057> the<00:09:26.201> best<00:09:26.458> in<00:09:26.602> autonomy<00:09:27.483> and<00:09:27.579> some<00:09:27.820> may<00:09:27.980> be<00:09:28.124> best<00:09:28.380> in<00:09:28.621> urban<00:09:28.861> environments.

00:09:29.310 --> 00:09:31.826
Environments,<00:09:29.710> and<00:09:29.806> some<00:09:29.903> may<00:09:30.063> be<00:09:30.143> best<00:09:30.448> in<00:09:30.704> rural<00:09:31.105> environments.

00:09:32.147 --> 00:09:52.954
But<00:09:32.467> we<00:09:32.932> have<00:09:34.471> given<00:09:35.112> to<00:09:35.673> the<00:09:35.978> world<00:09:36.475> these<00:09:36.780> first<00:09:37.132> stages<00:09:37.902> of<00:09:38.078> these<00:09:38.383> flyers<00:09:39.425> to<00:09:39.745> then<00:09:40.643> be<00:09:42.086> worked<00:09:42.342> upon<00:09:42.951> and<00:09:43.047> improved<00:09:43.689> and<00:09:43.833> tested<00:09:44.474> and<00:09:44.714> bettered<00:09:45.131> and<00:09:45.436> all<00:09:45.596> of<00:09:45.756> that,<00:09:46.189> so<00:09:46.414> that<00:09:47.039> really<00:09:47.840> we<00:09:48.017> can<00:09:48.498> use<00:09:48.962> these<00:09:49.524> in,<00:09:50.004> in<00:09:50.325> a<00:09:50.501> few<00:09:50.742> years<00:09:51.303> to<00:09:51.527> be<00:09:51.848> able<00:09:52.088> to<00:09:52.185> save<00:09:52.585> lives.

00:09:53.371 --> 00:09:53.707
Right.

00:09:54.268 --> 00:09:59.110
So<00:09:54.429> tell<00:09:54.541> me,<00:09:55.391> before<00:09:55.775> this<00:09:55.936> you<00:09:56.016> were<00:09:56.112> doing<00:09:56.497> GoFly<00:09:57.635> and<00:09:57.779> you<00:09:57.859> were<00:09:57.955> doing<00:09:58.116> that<00:09:58.292> since<00:09:58.532> 2017.

00:09:59.158 --> 00:10:01.723
Give<00:09:59.302> us<00:09:59.366> a<00:09:59.462> sense<00:09:59.639> for<00:09:59.799> GoFly<00:10:00.360> and<00:10:00.504> what<00:10:00.745> you<00:10:00.985> were<00:10:01.306> doing<00:10:01.546> there.

00:10:02.188 --> 00:10:05.782
Yeah,<00:10:02.702> so<00:10:03.167> GoFly<00:10:04.049> was<00:10:04.514> our<00:10:04.611> predecessor<00:10:05.252> competition.

00:10:05.958 --> 00:10:06.375
That's<00:10:06.135> right.

00:10:06.696 --> 00:10:13.049
Um,<00:10:07.001> GoFly<00:10:08.124> was,<00:10:08.686> uh,<00:10:08.782> focused<00:10:09.247> really<00:10:09.568> on<00:10:09.728> recreational<00:10:10.322> vehicles,<00:10:11.252> um,<00:10:11.509> and<00:10:11.589> it<00:10:11.670> was<00:10:11.926> very<00:10:12.712> early.

00:10:13.274 --> 00:10:19.049
It<00:10:13.354> was<00:10:13.595> before<00:10:14.220> people<00:10:14.622> were<00:10:14.718> publicly<00:10:15.359> talking<00:10:15.825> about<00:10:16.418> flying<00:10:16.964> taxis<00:10:17.830> and,<00:10:18.071> and<00:10:18.392> all<00:10:18.488> of<00:10:18.648> that,<00:10:18.889> right?

00:10:19.130 --> 00:10:21.937
We<00:10:19.226> started<00:10:19.755> working<00:10:20.156> on<00:10:20.253> that<00:10:20.814> in<00:10:20.975> 2015.

00:10:22.178 --> 00:10:37.850
We<00:10:22.338> launched<00:10:22.659> the<00:10:22.803> competition<00:10:23.461> in<00:10:23.686> 2017,<00:10:24.969> and,<00:10:25.611> um,<00:10:26.012> it<00:10:26.189> was<00:10:26.574> about<00:10:27.472> using<00:10:28.274> these<00:10:29.782> transformative<00:10:30.343> technologies<00:10:30.840> that<00:10:31.386> I<00:10:31.498> spoke<00:10:31.819> about<00:10:32.348> earlier<00:10:33.728> to<00:10:34.369> kind<00:10:34.610> of<00:10:34.770> develop<00:10:35.428> new<00:10:35.733> ways<00:10:36.198> of<00:10:36.439> flying<00:10:37.257> and<00:10:37.481> moving.

00:10:38.299 --> 00:10:42.967
And<00:10:38.636> some<00:10:39.005> of<00:10:39.085> these<00:10:39.262> technologies<00:10:40.208> are<00:10:40.401> directly<00:10:40.786> applicable<00:10:41.347> to<00:10:41.507> what<00:10:41.668> we<00:10:41.748> are<00:10:41.892> doing<00:10:42.085> in<00:10:42.229> Go<00:10:42.454> Aero,<00:10:42.791> right?

00:10:43.208 --> 00:10:45.758
Some<00:10:43.368> of<00:10:43.496> these<00:10:43.673> are<00:10:43.753> the<00:10:43.833> technologies<00:10:44.459> that<00:10:44.619> you<00:10:44.715> see<00:10:45.036> every<00:10:45.277> day,<00:10:45.518> right?

00:10:46.143 --> 00:10:52.142
Electric<00:10:46.640> vehicles<00:10:47.266> go<00:10:47.523> further<00:10:47.924> and<00:10:48.148> faster<00:10:48.565> than<00:10:48.726> they<00:10:48.966> ever<00:10:49.191> did<00:10:49.351> before<00:10:49.768> because<00:10:50.153> the<00:10:50.185> increased<00:10:50.570> performance<00:10:51.051> of<00:10:51.132> batteries<00:10:51.501> and<00:10:51.613> capacitors.

00:10:52.896 --> 00:11:01.655
There's<00:10:53.297> the<00:10:53.458> sense<00:10:54.003> and<00:10:54.099> avoid<00:10:54.725> tech<00:10:55.944> from<00:10:56.168> the<00:10:56.265> drone<00:10:56.746> world,<00:10:57.709> configurations<00:10:58.655> that<00:10:58.831> make,<00:10:58.992> you<00:10:59.072> know,<00:10:59.232> previously<00:10:59.778> unflyable<00:11:01.061> parts<00:11:01.478> fly.

00:11:02.585 --> 00:11:20.296
You<00:11:02.665> have<00:11:02.986> 3D<00:11:03.243> printing,<00:11:03.548> you<00:11:03.965> have<00:11:04.125> 3D<00:11:04.382> metal<00:11:04.992> printing,<00:11:05.794> other<00:11:05.970> types<00:11:06.291> of<00:11:06.451> rapid<00:11:06.933> prototyping,<00:11:08.136> which<00:11:08.521> allow<00:11:09.884> those<00:11:10.366> outside<00:11:10.702> the<00:11:10.783> confines<00:11:11.890> of<00:11:12.708> enormous<00:11:13.173> company<00:11:13.991> to<00:11:14.296> actually<00:11:14.857> be<00:11:15.098> able<00:11:15.435> to<00:11:16.157> build<00:11:17.360> as<00:11:17.504> opposed<00:11:17.713> to<00:11:17.825> having<00:11:18.082> to<00:11:18.387> be<00:11:18.643> embedded<00:11:19.189> within<00:11:19.606> a<00:11:19.686> large<00:11:20.007> company.

00:11:20.632 --> 00:11:28.754
It<00:11:20.873> opens<00:11:21.515> up<00:11:22.574> Well,<00:11:22.815> it<00:11:22.911> is<00:11:23.120> the<00:11:23.296> tools<00:11:23.858> to<00:11:24.019> allow<00:11:24.340> creators<00:11:24.741> around<00:11:25.062> the<00:11:25.287> world<00:11:25.624> to<00:11:25.865> be<00:11:26.170> able<00:11:27.550> to<00:11:28.273> build.

00:11:29.461 --> 00:11:32.061
And<00:11:29.942> I<00:11:30.038> can<00:11:30.199> go<00:11:30.424> on<00:11:30.536> and<00:11:30.664> on<00:11:30.825> about<00:11:31.066> those<00:11:31.242> other<00:11:31.467> technologies.

00:11:32.366 --> 00:11:41.645
But<00:11:32.848> really,<00:11:33.409> what<00:11:33.634> happens<00:11:34.132> is<00:11:34.373> they<00:11:34.597> came<00:11:35.079> together,<00:11:35.978> and<00:11:36.122> we<00:11:36.219> thought,<00:11:36.764> oh,<00:11:37.808> we<00:11:37.904> have<00:11:38.129> the<00:11:38.225> ability<00:11:38.707> to<00:11:38.803> make<00:11:39.108> people<00:11:39.413> fly<00:11:40.473> in<00:11:40.794> all<00:11:41.035> new<00:11:41.275> ways.

00:11:42.303 --> 00:11:42.848
We<00:11:42.383> should<00:11:42.560> do<00:11:42.720> this.

00:11:43.346 --> 00:11:45.577
And<00:11:43.699> that<00:11:44.004> was<00:11:44.149> really<00:11:44.807> how<00:11:45.048> it<00:11:45.128> started.

00:11:45.947 --> 00:11:48.900
So<00:11:46.236> what<00:11:46.316> does<00:11:46.492> a<00:11:46.557> typical<00:11:46.958> day<00:11:47.199> look<00:11:47.375> like<00:11:47.600> for<00:11:47.841> you<00:11:48.082> as<00:11:48.194> CEO?

00:11:50.327 --> 00:11:55.343
Um,<00:11:51.064> well,<00:11:51.369> what<00:11:51.481> does<00:11:51.689> a<00:11:51.769> typical—<00:11:52.170> ah,<00:11:52.491> there's<00:11:53.212> not<00:11:53.484> much<00:11:54.045> typical<00:11:54.526> about<00:11:54.894> any<00:11:55.151> day.

00:11:55.872 --> 00:12:04.910
Uh,<00:11:56.497> well,<00:11:57.298> um,<00:11:58.019> we<00:11:58.276> are<00:11:58.660> generally,<00:11:59.942> um,<00:12:01.224> on<00:12:01.785> the<00:12:01.945> road,<00:12:02.506> on<00:12:02.666> an<00:12:02.763> airplane<00:12:03.788> almost<00:12:04.189> every<00:12:04.525> week.

00:12:05.247 --> 00:12:22.315
We<00:12:05.407> are<00:12:05.551> meeting<00:12:05.807> with<00:12:06.032> partners,<00:12:06.689> we<00:12:06.833> are<00:12:06.913> meeting<00:12:07.234> with<00:12:07.410> teams,<00:12:08.371> we<00:12:08.836> are,<00:12:09.717> um,<00:12:10.070> speaking<00:12:10.919> and<00:12:11.016> engaging<00:12:12.217> because<00:12:13.419> Go<00:12:13.644> Arrow<00:12:14.060> is<00:12:14.301> not<00:12:15.006> not<00:12:15.968> only<00:12:16.128> trying<00:12:16.449> to<00:12:16.609> catalyze<00:12:17.490> the<00:12:17.571> build<00:12:18.388> of<00:12:18.484> this<00:12:18.709> technology,<00:12:19.735> but<00:12:19.879> we're<00:12:20.055> also<00:12:20.296> trying<00:12:20.552> to<00:12:20.696> create<00:12:21.434> the<00:12:21.674> ecosystem.

00:12:22.876 --> 00:12:31.949
Because<00:12:23.582> in<00:12:23.678> emergency<00:12:24.383> response<00:12:24.960> right<00:12:25.265> now,<00:12:26.066> there's<00:12:26.483> no<00:12:27.044> real<00:12:27.525> one<00:12:28.182> singular<00:12:28.888> buyer<00:12:30.154> of<00:12:30.651> emergency<00:12:31.196> response<00:12:31.613> aircraft.

00:12:32.174 --> 00:12:37.351
Some<00:12:32.414> of<00:12:32.510> it's<00:12:32.735> done<00:12:33.055> at<00:12:33.200> the<00:12:33.280> local,<00:12:33.953> you<00:12:34.033> know,<00:12:34.658> a<00:12:34.899> very<00:12:35.139> local<00:12:35.684> level,<00:12:36.005> municipalities,<00:12:36.887> localities.

00:12:37.640 --> 00:12:39.051
Some<00:12:37.848> of<00:12:37.945> it's<00:12:38.105> done<00:12:38.490> at<00:12:38.602> FEMA.

00:12:39.211 --> 00:12:45.418
What's<00:12:39.451> done<00:12:39.692> in<00:12:39.772> the<00:12:39.868> US<00:12:40.269> is<00:12:40.349> different<00:12:40.670> than<00:12:40.910> what's<00:12:41.151> done<00:12:41.793> in<00:12:41.971> Spain,<00:12:42.602> which<00:12:42.780> is<00:12:42.926> what's<00:12:43.168> different<00:12:43.557> than<00:12:43.735> what's<00:12:43.978> done<00:12:44.366> in<00:12:44.609> Australia.

00:12:45.904 --> 00:13:22.825
And<00:12:46.146> so<00:12:47.619> we<00:12:47.959> are<00:12:48.105> trying<00:12:48.978> to,<00:12:49.478> with<00:12:51.318> governments,<00:12:52.544> whether<00:12:52.851> that's<00:12:53.109> local<00:12:54.174> or<00:12:54.319> national<00:12:54.868> governments,<00:12:55.916> with<00:12:56.578> the<00:12:56.723> regulators,<00:12:57.546> with,<00:12:57.869> you<00:12:57.966> know,<00:12:58.111> the<00:12:58.160> large<00:12:58.498> companies<00:12:58.997> that<00:12:59.093> are<00:12:59.158> our<00:12:59.399> partners,<00:13:00.285> with<00:13:00.607> universities,<00:13:01.638> with<00:13:01.815> our<00:13:02.040> teams,<00:13:03.248> we're<00:13:03.345> trying<00:13:03.667> to<00:13:03.908> bring<00:13:04.311> everyone<00:13:04.778> together<00:13:05.277> to<00:13:05.454> not<00:13:06.227> only<00:13:06.903> create<00:13:07.370> these<00:13:07.580> emergency<00:13:08.100> response<00:13:08.537> flyers,<00:13:09.130> but<00:13:09.469> also<00:13:10.131> to<00:13:10.923> create<00:13:11.892> the<00:13:12.070> framework<00:13:12.716> for<00:13:12.878> them<00:13:13.120> to<00:13:13.363> be<00:13:13.524> able<00:13:13.847> to<00:13:14.009> be<00:13:14.251> deployed<00:13:15.221> so<00:13:15.382> that<00:13:16.012> after<00:13:16.352> the<00:13:16.432> competition,<00:13:18.742> they're<00:13:18.920> eventually<00:13:19.711> in<00:13:20.017> use<00:13:21.147> and<00:13:21.566> they<00:13:21.954> are<00:13:22.373> saving<00:13:22.696> lives.

00:13:23.487 --> 00:13:28.857
And<00:13:23.583> so<00:13:25.197> that<00:13:25.439> is<00:13:25.601> a<00:13:25.907> long<00:13:26.311> way<00:13:26.649> of<00:13:26.730> saying<00:13:27.601> there<00:13:27.844> is<00:13:28.005> no<00:13:28.102> typical<00:13:28.584> day.

00:13:28.970 --> 00:13:30.691
We<00:13:29.147> are<00:13:29.452> really<00:13:29.854> all<00:13:30.176> over<00:13:30.353> the<00:13:30.433> place.

00:13:30.819 --> 00:13:32.813
We<00:13:31.061> are<00:13:31.623> supporting<00:13:32.299> our<00:13:32.443> teams.

00:13:32.910 --> 00:13:34.228
We<00:13:32.990> are<00:13:33.103> mentoring<00:13:33.666> our<00:13:33.875> teams.

00:13:34.454 --> 00:13:35.949
We<00:13:34.598> are<00:13:34.695> bringing<00:13:35.097> on<00:13:35.322> new<00:13:35.483> partners.

00:13:36.310 --> 00:13:47.498
We<00:13:36.486> are<00:13:37.208> helping<00:13:37.610> to<00:13:37.706> create<00:13:38.011> this<00:13:38.252> ecosystem,<00:13:39.697> and<00:13:39.937> we<00:13:40.114> are<00:13:40.274> constantly<00:13:41.254> speaking<00:13:41.960> and<00:13:42.201> doing<00:13:42.843> and<00:13:43.164> going<00:13:43.950> and<00:13:45.652> trying<00:13:45.973> to<00:13:46.069> make<00:13:46.294> this<00:13:46.454> happen<00:13:46.856> for<00:13:47.000> all<00:13:47.097> of<00:13:47.257> us.

00:13:48.140 --> 00:13:56.503
Well,<00:13:48.220> it's<00:13:48.365> really<00:13:48.605> interesting<00:13:48.894> because<00:13:49.183> what<00:13:49.280> you're<00:13:49.825> doing<00:13:50.227> is<00:13:50.387> building<00:13:50.708> this<00:13:51.029> community<00:13:52.073> who<00:13:52.378> all<00:13:52.538> cares<00:13:52.875> about<00:13:53.196> this<00:13:53.533> and<00:13:53.662> wants<00:13:53.919> to<00:13:54.304> chip<00:13:54.625> in<00:13:54.866> and<00:13:54.946> wants<00:13:55.123> to<00:13:55.219> make<00:13:55.428> a<00:13:55.460> difference<00:13:55.845> and<00:13:55.989> an<00:13:56.070> impact.

00:13:57.209 --> 00:14:03.807
What<00:13:57.354> have<00:13:57.514> you<00:13:57.835> learned<00:13:58.189> about<00:13:58.574> building<00:13:59.055> communities<00:14:00.003> that,<00:14:00.340> you<00:14:00.436> know,<00:14:00.805> may<00:14:01.046> be<00:14:01.142> applicable<00:14:01.576> to<00:14:01.704> other<00:14:01.865> CEOs<00:14:02.394> and<00:14:02.571> people<00:14:02.812> who<00:14:02.908> are<00:14:03.068> listening<00:14:03.486> or<00:14:03.614> watching<00:14:03.775> us?

00:14:04.951 --> 00:14:05.177
This?

00:14:05.273 --> 00:14:08.191
Look,<00:14:05.838> building<00:14:06.112> a<00:14:06.176> community<00:14:06.660> is<00:14:06.902> difficult<00:14:07.692> all<00:14:07.869> the<00:14:08.014> time.

00:14:08.997 --> 00:14:22.240
We<00:14:10.271> are<00:14:10.529> lucky<00:14:11.722> in<00:14:12.060> that<00:14:13.189> what<00:14:13.414> is<00:14:13.560> important<00:14:13.914> to<00:14:14.302> us,<00:14:14.786> our<00:14:15.141> mission,<00:14:16.173> is<00:14:16.335> something<00:14:17.626> that<00:14:18.917> everyone<00:14:19.384> can<00:14:19.546> understand,<00:14:20.514> everyone<00:14:20.933> can<00:14:21.159> relate<00:14:21.498> to,<00:14:22.063> right?

00:14:22.305 --> 00:14:33.782
When<00:14:22.531> I<00:14:22.612> was<00:14:22.789> behind<00:14:23.112> that<00:14:23.420> ambulance,<00:14:24.489> it<00:14:24.570> was<00:14:24.732> me<00:14:25.040> at<00:14:25.137> that<00:14:25.445> moment,<00:14:26.012> but<00:14:27.649> you<00:14:27.892> understand<00:14:28.605> it,<00:14:28.945> you<00:14:29.043> know,<00:14:29.334> your<00:14:31.858> colleagues<00:14:32.368> understand<00:14:33.026> it,<00:14:33.256> your<00:14:33.305> friends<00:14:33.404> understand<00:14:33.667> it,<00:14:33.716> right?

00:14:33.832 --> 00:14:41.573
We<00:14:33.864> all<00:14:33.897> want<00:14:36.414> We<00:14:38.085> all,<00:14:38.728> in<00:14:38.808> our<00:14:38.985> best<00:14:39.226> selves,<00:14:40.014> are<00:14:40.271> humanitarians.

00:14:41.958 --> 00:14:43.501
We<00:14:42.119> want<00:14:42.424> the<00:14:42.521> best<00:14:42.826> for<00:14:42.923> the<00:14:43.083> world.

00:14:43.566 --> 00:14:44.787
We<00:14:43.646> want<00:14:43.871> the<00:14:43.967> best<00:14:44.208> for<00:14:44.305> each<00:14:44.610> other.

00:14:45.560 --> 00:14:50.727
So<00:14:45.737> we<00:14:45.915> are<00:14:46.222> able<00:14:46.948> to<00:14:48.805> easily—<00:14:49.790> well,<00:14:50.097> nothing's<00:14:50.517> easy.

00:14:51.228 --> 00:14:51.938
Nothing<00:14:51.567> is<00:14:51.744> easy.

00:14:52.293 --> 00:15:00.750
But<00:14:52.600> we<00:14:53.004> are—<00:14:54.893> our<00:14:55.054> mission<00:14:55.522> is<00:14:55.619> such<00:14:56.087> that<00:14:56.748> people<00:14:57.200> understand<00:14:57.846> it<00:14:58.330> and<00:14:58.491> they<00:14:58.604> see<00:14:59.798> the<00:15:00.105> worth<00:15:00.460> of<00:15:00.669> it.

00:15:01.931 --> 00:15:14.549
It<00:15:02.190> really<00:15:02.659> is<00:15:02.982> a<00:15:03.144> combination<00:15:04.681> of<00:15:06.638> business,<00:15:08.366> of<00:15:09.348> getting<00:15:09.751> people<00:15:10.137> to<00:15:10.250> see<00:15:11.103> the<00:15:12.166> real<00:15:13.212> need<00:15:13.599> for<00:15:13.776> what<00:15:14.001> we're<00:15:14.259> doing.

00:15:14.903 --> 00:15:25.967
And<00:15:15.370> frankly,<00:15:16.175> let's<00:15:16.915> be<00:15:17.157> clear,<00:15:17.785> we<00:15:17.962> are<00:15:18.188> helped<00:15:19.156> by<00:15:19.253> simply<00:15:19.721> turning<00:15:20.447> on,<00:15:21.416> you<00:15:21.513> know,<00:15:21.981> a<00:15:22.013> screen<00:15:22.965> and<00:15:23.127> seeing<00:15:23.756> what's<00:15:23.998> going<00:15:24.337> on<00:15:24.741> around,<00:15:25.306> around<00:15:25.628> the<00:15:25.790> world.

00:15:26.016 --> 00:15:30.150
It<00:15:26.097> seems<00:15:26.435> as<00:15:26.597> if,<00:15:26.839> you<00:15:26.920> know,<00:15:27.317> There<00:15:27.413> are<00:15:27.558> natural<00:15:27.880> disasters<00:15:29.651> all<00:15:29.812> the<00:15:29.909> time.

00:15:30.231 --> 00:15:31.728
There<00:15:30.295> are<00:15:30.376> always<00:15:30.714> natural<00:15:31.116> disasters.

00:15:32.147 --> 00:15:38.090
And<00:15:32.324> frankly,<00:15:33.290> everyone<00:15:33.612> we<00:15:33.773> know<00:15:34.256> unfortunately<00:15:34.803> has<00:15:35.045> moments<00:15:35.447> where<00:15:35.544> there's<00:15:35.769> a<00:15:35.801> medical<00:15:36.252> emergency<00:15:36.912> with<00:15:37.074> people<00:15:37.396> that<00:15:37.622> they<00:15:37.800> love.

00:15:38.526 --> 00:15:40.171
So<00:15:39.478> we<00:15:39.574> are<00:15:39.639> highly<00:15:39.720> relatable.

00:15:43.100 --> 00:15:56.615
And<00:15:43.212> yet<00:15:45.944> it's<00:15:46.104> exhausting<00:15:46.827> for<00:15:47.052> everybody<00:15:48.257> that,<00:15:48.595> you<00:15:48.675> know,<00:15:49.061> our<00:15:49.318> team,<00:15:50.266> our<00:15:50.925> partners,<00:15:51.792> it<00:15:52.114> really<00:15:53.048> Nothing<00:15:53.403> is<00:15:53.694> easy,<00:15:54.420> even<00:15:54.662> though<00:15:54.840> we<00:15:55.082> know<00:15:55.389> we're<00:15:55.631> all<00:15:55.792> doing<00:15:56.050> the<00:15:56.196> right<00:15:56.454> thing.

00:15:57.326 --> 00:16:08.543
And<00:15:57.406> I<00:15:57.584> think<00:15:57.826> that<00:15:58.052> that's<00:15:58.294> part<00:15:58.633> of<00:16:01.297> building<00:16:01.684> that<00:16:01.830> community,<00:16:02.522> coming<00:16:02.908> together<00:16:03.407> so<00:16:03.778> that<00:16:07.013> we<00:16:07.158> help<00:16:07.352> each<00:16:07.513> other<00:16:08.221> build.

00:16:08.865 --> 00:16:20.796
What<00:16:09.026> are<00:16:09.058> some<00:16:09.283> of<00:16:09.348> the<00:16:09.509> technical<00:16:09.976> challenges<00:16:10.475> you're<00:16:10.620> finding<00:16:11.022> that<00:16:11.183> these<00:16:11.360> teams<00:16:11.602> are<00:16:11.748> running<00:16:12.009> into<00:16:13.293> as<00:16:13.456> they're<00:16:13.700> building<00:16:14.188> these<00:16:14.611> autonomy-enabled<00:16:15.830> emergency<00:16:16.383> flyers<00:16:17.441> and<00:16:19.398> What<00:16:19.655> innovations<00:16:20.298> are<00:16:20.378> coming<00:16:20.764> out?

00:16:20.860 --> 00:16:22.307
Is<00:16:21.085> AI<00:16:21.407> helping<00:16:21.889> in<00:16:21.985> any<00:16:22.210> way?

00:16:22.548 --> 00:16:26.082
Like,<00:16:22.773> what<00:16:23.014> are<00:16:23.174> they<00:16:23.335> bumping<00:16:23.737> into<00:16:24.154> that's<00:16:24.877> becoming<00:16:25.279> like<00:16:25.520> a<00:16:25.600> challenge?

00:16:26.565 --> 00:16:27.609
Everything<00:16:26.902> is<00:16:27.047> tough,<00:16:27.368> right?

00:16:28.155 --> 00:16:31.780
It<00:16:28.478> would<00:16:28.656> be<00:16:28.899> difficult<00:16:29.611> to<00:16:29.951> build<00:16:30.210> something<00:16:30.679> that<00:16:30.857> stays<00:16:31.230> on<00:16:31.408> the<00:16:31.553> ground.

00:16:32.362 --> 00:16:36.813
We're<00:16:33.010> adding<00:16:33.414> gravity<00:16:33.981> to<00:16:34.143> that<00:16:34.337> in<00:16:34.466> its<00:16:34.709> most<00:16:34.968> simplistic<00:16:36.085> form,<00:16:36.425> right?

00:16:37.072 --> 00:16:38.543
Everything<00:16:37.710> is<00:16:37.889> difficult.

00:16:38.805 --> 00:16:48.138
So,<00:16:42.194> there<00:16:42.452> are<00:16:42.613> teams<00:16:43.579> that<00:16:43.740> have<00:16:43.998> approached<00:16:44.626> the<00:16:44.771> competition<00:16:45.980> where<00:16:46.221> they<00:16:46.398> are<00:16:46.543> designing<00:16:46.962> everything<00:16:47.526> from<00:16:47.768> scratch.

00:16:48.736 --> 00:16:55.838
There<00:16:48.913> are<00:16:49.234> other<00:16:49.540> teams<00:16:50.423> that<00:16:50.536> have<00:16:50.696> approached<00:16:51.323> the<00:16:51.468> competition<00:16:52.528> where<00:16:52.689> it<00:16:52.785> is<00:16:53.090> really<00:16:53.813> an<00:16:54.199> integration<00:16:55.179> challenge.

00:16:56.143 --> 00:17:03.454
So<00:16:56.384> they<00:16:56.625> are<00:16:56.786> taking<00:16:57.332> the<00:16:57.589> best<00:16:57.991> of<00:16:58.152> what<00:16:58.328> is<00:16:58.698> out<00:16:58.939> there<00:16:59.582> in<00:16:59.678> the<00:16:59.839> different<00:17:00.385> areas<00:17:01.205> and<00:17:01.365> integrating<00:17:02.072> it<00:17:02.249> into<00:17:02.908> a<00:17:02.972> whole<00:17:03.197> new<00:17:03.358> way.

00:17:04.017 --> 00:17:25.134
We<00:17:04.178> have<00:17:04.338> teams<00:17:04.724> that<00:17:04.820> are<00:17:05.126> building<00:17:05.704> their—<00:17:06.170> from<00:17:06.363> scratch,<00:17:06.829> their<00:17:07.070> whole<00:17:07.554> new<00:17:08.043> airframes,<00:17:09.249> and<00:17:09.510> we<00:17:09.820> have<00:17:10.162> teams<00:17:11.140> that<00:17:11.613> are<00:17:12.053> using<00:17:14.954> existing<00:17:15.761> airframes<00:17:16.632> and<00:17:16.955> changing<00:17:17.698> them<00:17:18.085> around<00:17:18.812> to<00:17:19.070> work<00:17:19.554> for<00:17:20.023> the<00:17:20.055> missions<00:17:20.604> that<00:17:20.830> they<00:17:21.007> find<00:17:22.283> are<00:17:22.767> most<00:17:23.106> important<00:17:23.671> for<00:17:23.992> them.

00:17:25.359 --> 00:17:36.323
And<00:17:25.616> so<00:17:27.352> there<00:17:27.529> is<00:17:27.786> no<00:17:28.976> one<00:17:29.844> area<00:17:31.933> that<00:17:32.417> is<00:17:33.175> singularly<00:17:35.807> difficult.

00:17:36.953 --> 00:17:37.825
It's<00:17:37.179> all<00:17:37.340> difficult.

00:17:38.632 --> 00:17:39.713
It's<00:17:38.955> all<00:17:39.116> a<00:17:39.213> challenge.

00:17:40.085 --> 00:17:54.849
If<00:17:40.181> it<00:17:40.327> was<00:17:40.730> easy,<00:17:41.659> You<00:17:41.902> would<00:17:42.079> not<00:17:42.564> need<00:17:43.517> the<00:17:43.678> consortium<00:17:44.276> of<00:17:44.567> partners<00:17:45.229> that<00:17:45.471> we<00:17:45.697> have<00:17:46.747> and<00:17:46.844> a<00:17:46.925> prize<00:17:48.055> and<00:17:48.136> several<00:17:48.540> millions<00:17:48.944> of<00:17:49.089> dollars<00:17:49.994> in<00:17:50.236> winnings<00:17:51.288> to<00:17:51.628> spur<00:17:52.017> the<00:17:52.178> innovation<00:17:53.214> because<00:17:53.473> everybody<00:17:53.942> would<00:17:54.040> just<00:17:54.509> do<00:17:54.622> it.

00:17:55.739 --> 00:18:13.316
Then<00:17:56.856> there's<00:17:57.260> also<00:17:57.681> the<00:17:57.988> opportunity<00:17:59.054> to<00:17:59.681> integrate<00:18:01.706> burgeoning<00:18:02.188> technology<00:18:03.378> in<00:18:03.619> actually<00:18:05.886> emergency<00:18:06.449> response<00:18:07.417> and<00:18:07.757> fielding<00:18:08.892> the<00:18:09.132> calls<00:18:10.318> and<00:18:10.639> anticipating<00:18:12.018> natural<00:18:12.418> disasters.

00:18:13.605 --> 00:18:41.945
And<00:18:13.781> so<00:18:14.246> they're<00:18:14.502> really—<00:18:15.128> for<00:18:15.849> us,<00:18:16.650> we<00:18:17.147> look<00:18:17.452> at<00:18:17.692> it<00:18:18.574> and<00:18:18.750> see<00:18:19.552> so<00:18:19.937> many<00:18:20.193> different<00:18:20.594> ways<00:18:21.331> from<00:18:22.437> actual<00:18:23.239> construction<00:18:23.960> of<00:18:24.345> our<00:18:24.682> vehicles<00:18:25.082> and<00:18:25.163> what<00:18:25.323> we're<00:18:25.483> doing<00:18:26.124> to<00:18:26.605> best<00:18:26.846> pathways<00:18:27.888> to<00:18:28.032> flying,<00:18:29.090> to<00:18:30.453> getting<00:18:30.853> the<00:18:31.078> call<00:18:31.559> in<00:18:31.959> and<00:18:32.376> streamlining<00:18:33.739> the<00:18:33.899> types<00:18:34.460> of<00:18:34.765> help<00:18:35.827> that<00:18:37.021> are<00:18:37.118> needed<00:18:38.232> and<00:18:38.797> to<00:18:39.055> get<00:18:39.281> it<00:18:39.701> to<00:18:40.008> the<00:18:40.105> people<00:18:40.411> who<00:18:40.444> need<00:18:40.734> it<00:18:41.057> as<00:18:41.154> soon<00:18:41.396> as<00:18:41.477> possible.

00:18:42.510 --> 00:18:47.609
And<00:18:42.607> that's<00:18:43.011> all<00:18:43.254> really,<00:18:43.497> you<00:18:43.837> know,<00:18:44.242> these<00:18:44.549> are,<00:18:45.051> these<00:18:45.278> are<00:18:45.375> things<00:18:45.618> that<00:18:45.925> we<00:18:46.573> and<00:18:46.654> our<00:18:46.816> teams<00:18:47.156> work<00:18:47.463> on.

00:18:48.111 --> 00:18:54.202
But<00:18:48.775> there's<00:18:49.098> also<00:18:49.665> a<00:18:49.908> ton<00:18:50.377> of<00:18:50.539> innovation<00:18:51.186> happening<00:18:52.234> around<00:18:52.880> us<00:18:53.218> in<00:18:53.315> our<00:18:53.476> sphere,<00:18:54.008> right?

00:18:54.653 --> 00:19:04.698
Our<00:18:54.976> competition<00:18:55.718> is<00:18:55.879> not<00:18:56.766> specifically<00:18:57.975> concerned<00:18:59.094> with<00:19:01.144> how<00:19:01.324> those<00:19:01.652> first<00:19:02.242> response<00:19:02.868> calls<00:19:03.366> are<00:19:03.606> routed<00:19:04.249> or<00:19:04.329> anything.

00:19:04.811 --> 00:19:08.745
And<00:19:04.971> yet<00:19:05.292> there's<00:19:05.533> tons<00:19:05.935> of<00:19:06.159> work<00:19:06.416> going<00:19:06.882> on<00:19:07.605> in<00:19:07.861> that<00:19:08.183> area.

00:19:09.146 --> 00:19:42.285
Another<00:19:09.772> interesting<00:19:10.992> area<00:19:11.474> that<00:19:11.635> is<00:19:11.876> being<00:19:12.277> worked<00:19:12.582> on<00:19:12.759> as<00:19:12.919> well<00:19:13.786> is<00:19:15.312> using<00:19:15.713> drones<00:19:16.131> and<00:19:16.371> other<00:19:16.612> emergency<00:19:17.238> response<00:19:17.993> flyers<00:19:18.619> for<00:19:20.129> triage,<00:19:20.867> for,<00:19:22.232> you<00:19:22.714> know,<00:19:23.179> if<00:19:23.998> people<00:19:24.303> are<00:19:24.865> hurt,<00:19:25.668> if<00:19:25.765> there's<00:19:26.005> a<00:19:26.021> natural<00:19:26.407> disaster,<00:19:27.772> to<00:19:28.012> be,<00:19:28.172> if<00:19:28.413> you<00:19:28.557> can't<00:19:28.958> get<00:19:29.199> there<00:19:29.920> immediately<00:19:30.642> with<00:19:30.883> people,<00:19:31.364> to<00:19:31.701> at<00:19:32.005> least<00:19:33.481> send<00:19:34.250> out<00:19:35.132> drones<00:19:35.469> that<00:19:35.694> can<00:19:35.870> sense<00:19:36.977> respiration<00:19:38.019> and<00:19:38.115> if<00:19:38.340> there's<00:19:38.596> bleeding<00:19:39.382> and<00:19:39.783> if<00:19:40.601> there<00:19:40.761> are<00:19:40.841> broken<00:19:41.323> bones<00:19:41.691> and<00:19:41.788> all<00:19:41.964> of<00:19:42.044> that.

00:19:42.541 --> 00:19:50.544
So<00:19:42.750> when<00:19:42.910> you<00:19:42.990> finally<00:19:43.471> have<00:19:43.872> people<00:19:44.289> who<00:19:44.450> can<00:19:44.770> get<00:19:45.091> there,<00:19:46.214> they<00:19:46.535> know<00:19:47.256> who<00:19:47.577> to<00:19:47.898> go<00:19:48.283> to<00:19:49.084> and<00:19:49.485> in<00:19:49.822> what<00:19:50.207> order.

00:19:50.848 --> 00:20:06.094
And<00:19:50.945> that's<00:19:51.490> also<00:19:52.211> a<00:19:52.404> phenomenal<00:19:53.414> way<00:19:54.138> of<00:19:54.380> integrating,<00:19:55.287> you<00:19:55.384> know,<00:19:55.611> obviously<00:19:56.000> there<00:19:56.323> are<00:19:56.647> AI<00:19:56.906> aspects<00:19:57.230> of<00:19:57.311> it,<00:19:57.392> but<00:19:57.489> there<00:19:57.586> are<00:19:57.635> things<00:19:57.861> having<00:19:58.282> nothing<00:19:58.606> to<00:19:58.752> do<00:19:58.865> with<00:19:59.076> AI<00:19:59.416> in<00:19:59.562> what—<00:20:00.308> in<00:20:01.750> the<00:20:03.695> scenario<00:20:04.765> that<00:20:04.927> I've<00:20:05.235> just<00:20:05.494> presented.

00:20:06.531 --> 00:20:17.652
But<00:20:08.871> what<00:20:09.032> you<00:20:09.129> were<00:20:09.210> saying,<00:20:09.435> and<00:20:09.516> I<00:20:09.548> said<00:20:09.855> it<00:20:10.000> before,<00:20:10.725> we<00:20:11.064> really<00:20:11.612> are<00:20:11.870> having<00:20:12.596> this<00:20:13.547> golden<00:20:13.886> age<00:20:14.063> of<00:20:14.192> aviation<00:20:14.774> and<00:20:14.872> frankly<00:20:16.066> of<00:20:16.900> technology.

00:20:18.126 --> 00:20:29.799
We<00:20:18.289> are<00:20:18.535> just<00:20:18.943> at<00:20:19.172> the<00:20:19.726> early<00:20:19.983> stages<00:20:20.690> of<00:20:20.931> this,<00:20:21.750> but<00:20:22.136> there<00:20:22.313> is<00:20:22.473> so<00:20:23.036> much<00:20:24.000> that<00:20:24.401> we<00:20:24.723> can<00:20:25.124> do<00:20:25.912> when<00:20:26.088> we<00:20:26.249> harness<00:20:26.972> this<00:20:27.293> technology,<00:20:28.482> old<00:20:28.996> technology,<00:20:29.607> right?

00:20:29.848 --> 00:20:37.350
We<00:20:29.928> talked<00:20:30.073> about<00:20:30.265> an<00:20:30.426> integration<00:20:31.053> challenge<00:20:31.775> and<00:20:32.193> new<00:20:32.498> technology<00:20:33.543> to<00:20:33.703> really<00:20:34.041> better<00:20:34.298> the<00:20:34.378> lives<00:20:34.908> of<00:20:35.551> everyone<00:20:36.916> around.

00:20:37.575 --> 00:20:39.632
What<00:20:37.720> kind<00:20:37.896> of<00:20:38.057> legacy<00:20:38.603> do<00:20:38.636> you<00:20:38.764> want<00:20:38.860> to<00:20:38.957> leave<00:20:39.182> behind?

00:20:40.949 --> 00:20:41.833
In<00:20:41.110> what<00:20:41.431> area?

00:20:41.913 --> 00:20:44.612
My<00:20:42.138> goodness,<00:20:42.797> there's<00:20:43.038> so<00:20:43.134> many<00:20:44.259> things.

00:20:45.030 --> 00:20:46.106
You<00:20:45.287> know<00:20:46.010> me.

00:20:46.815 --> 00:21:05.214
My<00:20:47.365> dad<00:20:48.675> lives<00:20:48.999> by<00:20:49.322> this<00:20:49.646> philosophy<00:20:53.285> that<00:20:55.866> whatever<00:20:56.495> room<00:20:56.737> he<00:20:56.979> walks<00:20:57.398> into,<00:20:58.124> he<00:20:58.914> always<00:20:59.252> tries<00:20:59.720> to<00:20:59.833> leave<00:21:00.526> it<00:21:01.332> better<00:21:02.862> than<00:21:03.507> when<00:21:04.505> he<00:21:05.037> came.

00:21:05.842 --> 00:21:15.625
And<00:21:05.939> so<00:21:06.261> that's<00:21:07.227> whether<00:21:07.469> it's<00:21:07.775> one<00:21:08.032> person<00:21:08.435> in<00:21:08.580> the<00:21:08.741> room<00:21:09.627> or<00:21:09.820> speaking<00:21:10.287> to<00:21:10.448> lots<00:21:10.770> of<00:21:10.980> people,<00:21:11.257> whatever,<00:21:11.811> whether<00:21:12.071> it's<00:21:12.234> in<00:21:12.332> a<00:21:12.365> business<00:21:13.555> setting<00:21:14.418> or<00:21:14.516> in<00:21:14.663> a<00:21:14.826> personal<00:21:15.119> setting.

00:21:18.392 --> 00:21:29.903
And<00:21:18.653> I<00:21:18.784> think<00:21:19.926> to<00:21:20.171> an<00:21:20.350> extent,<00:21:22.480> that's<00:21:22.657> what<00:21:22.754> we're<00:21:22.916> trying<00:21:23.240> to<00:21:23.401> do<00:21:23.644> with<00:21:23.870> Go<00:21:24.113> Arrow,<00:21:25.164> to<00:21:25.261> leave<00:21:25.908> the<00:21:26.134> world,<00:21:26.636> the<00:21:26.862> room,<00:21:27.283> whatever,<00:21:27.913> just<00:21:28.722> a<00:21:28.738> little<00:21:29.288> bit<00:21:29.547> better.

00:21:30.355 --> 00:21:41.606
There's—<00:21:31.083> boy,<00:21:31.568> when<00:21:31.795> we<00:21:31.972> harness<00:21:32.600> technology<00:21:33.180> and<00:21:33.341> the<00:21:33.421> positive<00:21:34.130> energy<00:21:34.549> and<00:21:34.710> goodwill,<00:21:35.595> there's<00:21:36.159> kind<00:21:36.400> of—<00:21:38.639> it's<00:21:38.816> the<00:21:38.977> right<00:21:39.299> thing<00:21:39.460> to<00:21:39.621> do<00:21:40.249> and<00:21:40.587> it's<00:21:40.732> something<00:21:40.990> that<00:21:41.215> we<00:21:41.312> all<00:21:41.475> need.

00:21:41.981 --> 00:21:59.606
So<00:21:43.024> I<00:21:43.187> guess<00:21:43.660> the<00:21:43.839> legacy<00:21:44.720> is<00:21:46.213> to<00:21:46.294> leave<00:21:46.535> the<00:21:46.680> world<00:21:46.937> a<00:21:47.017> little<00:21:47.258> bit<00:21:47.419> better<00:21:49.171> and<00:21:49.412> to<00:21:49.974> ease<00:21:50.135> people's<00:21:50.698> burdens<00:21:51.421> and<00:21:51.678> to,<00:21:54.008> to<00:21:54.105> make<00:21:54.394> sure<00:21:54.700> that<00:21:55.877> nobody<00:21:56.270> has<00:21:56.531> to<00:21:56.629> say,<00:21:57.087> please<00:21:57.447> move,<00:21:57.921> please<00:21:58.396> move<00:21:58.756> in<00:21:58.903> a<00:21:58.984> car<00:21:59.312> again.

00:22:00.100 --> 00:22:03.001
Clearly,<00:22:00.375> my<00:22:00.602> dad<00:22:00.845> got<00:22:01.023> to<00:22:01.121> the<00:22:01.250> hospital<00:22:01.672> on<00:22:01.834> time<00:22:02.223> and<00:22:02.385> all<00:22:02.563> was<00:22:02.790> well.

00:22:03.600 --> 00:22:05.837
But,<00:22:04.735> you<00:22:04.800> know,<00:22:04.994> it's<00:22:05.124> happening<00:22:05.480> right<00:22:05.707> now.

00:22:06.194 --> 00:22:08.625
Nobody—<00:22:06.923> we'll<00:22:07.506> all<00:22:07.749> be<00:22:07.912> in<00:22:07.993> those<00:22:08.171> situations.

00:22:09.473 --> 00:22:17.582
But<00:22:10.291> let's<00:22:10.536> at<00:22:10.634> least<00:22:11.043> give<00:22:11.288> everyone<00:22:11.844> the<00:22:12.024> tools<00:22:12.597> and<00:22:12.744> the<00:22:12.907> technology<00:22:13.578> that<00:22:13.742> they<00:22:13.905> need<00:22:14.627> to<00:22:14.691> have<00:22:14.884> the<00:22:15.028> best<00:22:15.430> outcome<00:22:16.635> within<00:22:16.956> those<00:22:17.068> situations.

00:22:17.775 --> 00:22:17.839
Yeah.

00:22:17.936 --> 00:22:26.948
Finally,<00:22:18.418> we<00:22:18.659> end<00:22:18.964> every<00:22:19.141> interview<00:22:19.462> with<00:22:19.607> the<00:22:19.687> same<00:22:19.944> question,<00:22:20.667> and<00:22:20.811> that<00:22:21.052> is<00:22:21.229> at<00:22:21.309> CEO.com,<00:22:22.257> we<00:22:22.434> believe<00:22:22.739> the<00:22:22.836> chances<00:22:23.301> one<00:22:23.558> gives<00:22:24.683> is<00:22:24.908> just<00:22:25.165> as<00:22:25.245> important<00:22:25.631> as<00:22:25.727> the<00:22:25.807> chances<00:22:26.273> one<00:22:26.450> takes.

00:22:27.494 --> 00:22:30.466
When<00:22:27.735> you<00:22:27.960> hear<00:22:28.201> that,<00:22:28.442> who<00:22:28.619> gave<00:22:28.844> you<00:22:28.940> a<00:22:29.004> chance<00:22:29.261> to<00:22:29.406> get<00:22:29.518> you<00:22:29.647> to<00:22:29.727> where<00:22:29.888> you<00:22:30.048> are<00:22:30.145> today?

00:22:31.350 --> 00:22:34.466
I<00:22:31.832> don't<00:22:32.779> think<00:22:32.876> we<00:22:33.036> have<00:22:33.197> time<00:22:33.840> for<00:22:34.065> that.

00:22:35.205 --> 00:22:41.133
I've<00:22:35.350> mentioned,<00:22:36.024> you<00:22:36.105> know,<00:22:36.410> the<00:22:36.651> executives<00:22:37.294> that<00:22:37.438> are<00:22:37.759> our<00:22:37.936> partners<00:22:38.804> and<00:22:39.446> met<00:22:39.784> at<00:22:39.864> NASA<00:22:40.249> and<00:22:40.731> all<00:22:40.828> of<00:22:40.988> that.

00:22:41.936 --> 00:22:45.902
They<00:22:42.257> were<00:22:42.980> instrumental<00:22:43.863> to<00:22:44.023> getting<00:22:44.361> Go<00:22:44.585> Aero<00:22:44.987> to<00:22:45.164> where<00:22:45.388> they<00:22:45.629> are.

00:22:46.914 --> 00:22:48.150
Who<00:22:47.090> gave<00:22:47.652> me<00:22:47.797> the<00:22:47.893> chance?

00:22:48.278 --> 00:23:00.915
Oh,<00:22:48.519> I<00:22:48.616> mean,<00:22:48.937> like<00:22:49.162> I<00:22:49.258> told<00:22:49.499> you,<00:22:49.740> you<00:22:49.836> know,<00:22:49.916> my<00:22:50.141> dad's<00:22:50.526> philosophy,<00:22:51.088> my,<00:22:51.490> my<00:22:51.650> mom<00:22:52.533> made<00:22:52.774> us<00:22:53.288> strong<00:22:54.155> and,<00:22:54.862> you<00:22:54.974> know,<00:22:55.456> felt<00:22:56.066> like<00:22:56.307> we<00:22:56.467> could<00:22:56.708> actually<00:22:57.142> say,<00:22:57.447> okay,<00:22:58.153> we're<00:22:58.266> going<00:22:58.362> to<00:22:58.507> build<00:22:58.747> a<00:22:58.812> community<00:22:59.293> and<00:22:59.454> make<00:22:59.679> emergency<00:23:00.192> response<00:23:00.642> flyers.

00:23:00.979 --> 00:23:03.709
So,<00:23:01.268> you<00:23:01.316> know,<00:23:01.605> they,<00:23:02.167> they<00:23:02.408> helped<00:23:02.745> me<00:23:02.970> along<00:23:03.307> the<00:23:03.452> way.

00:23:05.074 --> 00:23:06.262
My<00:23:05.298> children<00:23:05.716> give<00:23:05.877> chance.

00:23:06.358 --> 00:23:11.284
I<00:23:06.374> mean,<00:23:06.599> my<00:23:06.744> children<00:23:07.017> are<00:23:07.626> men<00:23:07.883> at<00:23:08.027> this<00:23:08.188> point,<00:23:08.429> but<00:23:08.589> they<00:23:09.391> give<00:23:09.584> me<00:23:10.273> the<00:23:10.370> chance<00:23:10.835> every<00:23:11.156> day.

00:23:11.717 --> 00:23:18.696
Our<00:23:12.215> team,<00:23:12.856> everyone<00:23:13.193> involved<00:23:13.723> in<00:23:13.819> Go<00:23:14.140> Aero,<00:23:14.846> they've<00:23:15.921> stayed<00:23:16.771> with<00:23:16.963> me<00:23:17.172> from<00:23:17.429> GoFly<00:23:18.134> to<00:23:18.311> Go<00:23:18.535> Aero.

00:23:18.856 --> 00:23:21.921
We've<00:23:19.835> never<00:23:20.300> lost<00:23:20.798> anybody,<00:23:21.600> right?

00:23:22.001 --> 00:23:24.760
I<00:23:22.081> mean,<00:23:23.284> that's<00:23:24.086> incredible.

00:23:25.049 --> 00:23:27.792
We<00:23:25.193> don't<00:23:25.354> have<00:23:25.915> anybody<00:23:26.717> who<00:23:27.439> left.

00:23:27.856 --> 00:23:36.953
It's<00:23:28.033> still<00:23:28.402> the<00:23:28.434> same<00:23:28.899> team<00:23:29.461> because<00:23:30.327> we<00:23:30.407> so<00:23:30.728> enjoy<00:23:31.546> working<00:23:31.819> together,<00:23:32.268> because<00:23:32.589> we<00:23:32.749> give<00:23:32.974> each<00:23:33.856> other<00:23:34.113> the<00:23:34.257> chances<00:23:34.819> all<00:23:34.915> the<00:23:35.060> day,<00:23:35.236> because<00:23:35.557> we<00:23:35.717> believe<00:23:36.295> in<00:23:36.439> the<00:23:36.535> mission.

00:23:37.466 --> 00:23:40.937
My<00:23:37.723> goodness,<00:23:38.350> I'm<00:23:39.009> given<00:23:39.491> chances<00:23:40.118> every<00:23:40.375> single<00:23:40.841> day.

00:23:41.484 --> 00:23:52.161
The<00:23:41.580> teams<00:23:42.207> who<00:23:42.287> have<00:23:42.400> decided<00:23:42.866> to<00:23:43.107> build<00:23:43.589> and<00:23:43.750> join<00:23:44.151> and<00:23:44.312> spend<00:23:44.650> several<00:23:45.035> years<00:23:45.357> of<00:23:45.437> their<00:23:45.598> lives<00:23:46.160> doing<00:23:46.547> it<00:23:48.245> are,<00:23:48.974> you<00:23:49.297> know,<00:23:49.459> the<00:23:49.556> people<00:23:50.672> who<00:23:50.915> guide<00:23:51.255> us<00:23:51.562> at<00:23:51.724> the<00:23:51.983> FAA.

00:23:52.711 --> 00:23:57.971
Friends,<00:23:53.358> I<00:23:53.455> don't<00:23:53.747> think—<00:23:54.734> boy,<00:23:55.203> I<00:23:56.757> think<00:23:57.000> I'm<00:23:57.307> very<00:23:57.647> lucky.

00:23:58.036 --> 00:24:04.412
I<00:23:58.133> go<00:23:58.311> through<00:23:58.554> life<00:23:58.861> with<00:23:59.007> people<00:23:59.832> who<00:24:00.463> give<00:24:00.642> us<00:24:00.868> chances<00:24:01.451> to<00:24:02.993> do<00:24:03.238> well<00:24:03.743> and<00:24:03.874> to<00:24:04.053> do<00:24:04.216> good.

00:24:04.893 --> 00:24:09.954
Every<00:24:05.134> day,<00:24:05.359> and<00:24:05.455> we<00:24:05.535> don't<00:24:05.760> always<00:24:06.082> get<00:24:06.242> it<00:24:06.339> right,<00:24:07.367> but<00:24:07.624> we<00:24:09.311> certainly<00:24:09.793> try.

00:24:10.918 --> 00:24:13.022
Gwen,<00:24:11.384> thank<00:24:11.560> you<00:24:11.641> so<00:24:11.978> much<00:24:12.460> for<00:24:12.669> coming<00:24:12.910> on.

00:24:13.087 --> 00:24:16.192
