The flying car is still two years away
In December 2022, Pete Bitar told the CEO.com Podcast that LEO Flight would deliver its first 100 flying cars in 2025. It is now September 2026. The company has delivered none. The Vertical Flight Society's eVTOL aircraft directory lists initial production of the LEO Coupe for 2027 at a projected base price of $459,900. PitchBook lists seven employees and $580,000 in disclosed funding.
None of that makes Bitar a liar. It makes him a man building a flying car, which is a business where the future keeps its distance. What he and his co-founder Carlos Salaff said on the CEO.com Podcast holds up better than the dates did.
Bitar and Salaff met through the GoFly Prize, the Boeing-backed challenge to build a personal flying device, where Bitar's VertiCycle, a flying electric motorcycle, reached the final fly-off. Salaff had spent a decade at Mazda's North American Design Studio working on the Mazda 3 and MX-5, then left to build hand-made hypercars under his own name in New York. He had been sketching flying vehicles for years and knew the sketches were worthless without propulsion. He did not believe the answer was a big drone. "I had a gut feeling that the big solution isn't these multi-copter, big, huge drone designs with many propellers," he said. He called Bitar.
Bitar had come to the same conclusion by a longer road. He ran a defense contractor in Anderson, Indiana, for 14 years, building counter-IED systems for the military and chasing personal flight on the side. He tried gas engines starting in 2006 and gave up. In April 2015, his company AirBuoyant lifted a volunteer off a stack of shipping pallets in a purpose-built human-carrying quadcopter. He sold the defense business in 2018, kept some of the money, and founded Electric Jet Aircraft to build an electric jetpack. In 2021, the jetpack won a $225,000 DARPA research award, and the patent on it was issued the same year.
The two formed LEO Flight in 2020, a joint venture between their companies. Salaff draws. Bitar engineers. They had been at it for two and a half years when they sat down with CEO.com and were, by their own account, the entire full-time staff. "It's not a hard question because you're looking at them," Bitar said when asked how big the team was.
What they had built was the LX-1, a full-scale, single-seat skeleton of an aircraft with no skin. It had lifted off a tether, empty, and then with a person aboard. The company posted video of the first manned liftoff on October 12, 2022, with Bitar working the throttles from outside the aircraft and a test pilot named Isaac Goar in the seat. Untethered flight was next and depended on money they did not yet have.
The idea underneath the LX-1 is Bitar's. Instead of propellers, the aircraft uses clusters of small electric jets, each an electric motor spinning metal blades at about 60,000 rpm inside a sleeve. No fuel, no combustion. Air goes in and comes out faster. The Coupe design calls for roughly 200 of them, arranged in four decks buried in the wings. The flight computer treats each deck as one engine. The jets inside a deck run independently, so if one quits, the others work harder. Bitar said the aircraft could lose 60 of its 200 jets and still land with a full payload. He also said his jets produce 11.6 pounds of thrust, whereas a hobby-grade unit of the same size produces about eight.
The thrust figure is the company's own. So is the claim that the vehicle is safer than a helicopter. The argument isn't unreasonable. There are no exposed rotors. There are wings, so it can glide. It can carry a ballistic parachute, which propeller aircraft mostly cannot. But it is an argument about a vehicle that had, at that point, flown a few feet on a rope.
Salaff was clearer than most founders about the regulatory question, which is the one investors get stuck on. Helicopters can already land nearly anywhere with the landowner's permission. The barrier was never the law. It was that helicopters are expensive and loud and occasionally kill people on rooftops. LEO's plan was to certify under a new FAA category for compact aircraft, with a pilot's license after about 20 hours of training. An advisory board member, former FAA administrator Sue Gardner, was helping them navigate it.
Bitar's market thesis was the sharpest thing said in the interview. Boeing and Cirrus, the biggest aircraft builders by units, make a few hundred a year. Ferrari and Lamborghini make 8,000 to 10,000. Nobody makes 2,000 to 8,000 of anything that flies. That is the gap he wants. "If you sold 10,000 aircraft a year and distributed them around the world, the likelihood that two of them would ever even see each other is really small." Asked why Tesla was not doing this, he pointed out that Musk invented neither the rocket nor the electric car, only the factories, and suggested an automaker might one day buy LEO rather than compete with it.
Then the dates. First 100 units in 2025. Two thousand a year by 2028. Ten thousand a year in eight to 10 years.
Instead, LEO Flight built a smaller product first. In January 2026, the company showed the LEO JetBike at CES: one rider, same electric jets, no license required under FAA ultralight rules. Top speed capped at 60 mph. Altitude limited by software to 15 feet. Ten to 15 minutes in the air. Price $99,900. The company said it had sold out its 2026 and 2027 pre-order allotment and would begin deliveries in the fourth quarter of this year. That is one quarter away. A rescue version, the LX-1R, is entered in GoAERO, GoFly's successor competition, aimed at emergency response.
A 15-foot hover is not the Jetsons. It is what two people and $580,000 can get off the ground. Whether the Coupe follows in 2027 depends on what Bitar named the real barrier four years ago: not the physics.
"We feel like really we're just funding away," he said.

Carlos<00:00:10.087> and<00:00:10.168> Pete,<00:00:10.638> thank<00:00:10.816> you<00:00:10.897> so<00:00:11.059> much<00:00:11.286> for<00:00:11.447> joining<00:00:11.852> us.
00:00:12.030 --> 00:00:19.731
You're<00:00:12.257> working<00:00:12.597> on<00:00:13.488> life-changing,<00:00:14.378> humanity-changing<00:00:16.498> stuff<00:00:17.597> at<00:00:19.068> LeoFlight.
00:00:20.506 --> 00:00:25.016
Tell<00:00:20.620> me,<00:00:20.765> like,<00:00:22.446> what<00:00:23.998> led<00:00:24.240> you<00:00:24.483> to<00:00:24.790> this?
00:00:25.530 --> 00:00:26.310
How<00:00:25.660> did<00:00:25.871> you<00:00:26.034> get<00:00:26.212> here?
00:00:26.375 --> 00:00:30.439
How<00:00:26.538> did<00:00:26.700> you<00:00:26.846> like,<00:00:27.578> how<00:00:27.676> did<00:00:27.822> you<00:00:27.854> get<00:00:27.952> to<00:00:28.001> the<00:00:28.228> point<00:00:28.391> where<00:00:28.440> like,<00:00:28.635> I'm<00:00:28.749> going<00:00:28.879> to<00:00:29.057> build<00:00:29.366> a<00:00:29.545> flying<00:00:30.114> car?
00:00:32.313 --> 00:00:36.301
Yeah,<00:00:32.572> that's<00:00:32.816> a<00:00:32.897> great—<00:00:33.367> I'll<00:00:34.356> tell<00:00:34.599> you<00:00:34.745> kind<00:00:34.923> of<00:00:34.956> my<00:00:35.166> background<00:00:35.718> real<00:00:35.880> quickly.
00:00:36.382 --> 00:00:40.078
And<00:00:36.463> then<00:00:36.706> Pete<00:00:37.031> can<00:00:37.177> tell<00:00:37.290> you<00:00:37.420> his,<00:00:37.679> and<00:00:37.760> I<00:00:37.906> think<00:00:38.149> that,<00:00:38.976> you<00:00:39.057> know,<00:00:39.154> they<00:00:39.300> kind<00:00:39.479> of<00:00:39.543> meet<00:00:39.706> in<00:00:39.770> the<00:00:39.803> middle.
00:00:40.710 --> 00:00:44.485
But<00:00:41.690> my<00:00:41.866> background<00:00:42.734> is<00:00:43.055> in<00:00:43.618> automotive<00:00:44.035> design.
00:00:45.305 --> 00:00:49.819
And<00:00:45.979> since<00:00:46.140> I<00:00:46.253> was<00:00:46.429> a<00:00:46.445> little<00:00:46.686> kid,<00:00:46.992> I<00:00:47.008> was<00:00:47.233> fascinated<00:00:47.891> with<00:00:48.454> aircraft,<00:00:49.016> with<00:00:49.177> flight.
00:00:50.350 --> 00:00:58.609
My<00:00:50.449> father's<00:00:51.029> a<00:00:51.559> classical<00:00:52.105> musician,<00:00:52.867> and<00:00:53.846> when<00:00:54.007> I<00:00:54.039> was<00:00:54.183> a<00:00:54.263> kid,<00:00:54.664> we<00:00:54.809> were<00:00:54.969> always<00:00:55.225> on<00:00:55.386> planes<00:00:56.268> for<00:00:56.412> the<00:00:56.572> different<00:00:57.535> events<00:00:57.871> he<00:00:57.935> was<00:00:58.112> playing<00:00:58.497> at.
00:00:58.673 --> 00:01:01.078
And<00:00:58.817> I<00:00:58.833> just<00:00:59.314> fell<00:00:59.491> in<00:00:59.619> love<00:00:59.860> with<00:01:00.036> the<00:01:00.132> feeling<00:01:00.533> of<00:01:00.597> flight.
00:01:02.425 --> 00:01:07.829
And<00:01:02.842> cars,<00:01:03.644> for<00:01:03.804> me,<00:01:04.045> were<00:01:04.205> kind<00:01:04.366> of<00:01:04.446> an<00:01:04.526> approximation<00:01:05.488> of<00:01:05.568> that<00:01:05.745> experience<00:01:06.370> of<00:01:06.514> travel<00:01:07.011> and<00:01:07.092> of<00:01:07.188> speed.
00:01:08.679 --> 00:01:20.353
And<00:01:09.882> I<00:01:10.203> learned<00:01:10.443> about<00:01:10.716> kind<00:01:10.876> of<00:01:10.940> the<00:01:11.101> artistry<00:01:11.646> that<00:01:11.806> went<00:01:11.982> into<00:01:12.784> cars,<00:01:13.490> you<00:01:13.602> know,<00:01:13.827> after<00:01:14.067> high<00:01:14.243> school<00:01:14.548> and<00:01:14.692> went<00:01:14.869> into<00:01:15.125> a<00:01:15.590> career<00:01:16.216> in<00:01:16.553> automotive<00:01:16.969> design,<00:01:17.579> sort<00:01:17.819> of<00:01:18.300> under<00:01:18.493> the<00:01:18.637> umbrella<00:01:19.263> of<00:01:19.359> industrial<00:01:19.936> design.
00:01:21.349 --> 00:01:30.685
And<00:01:21.591> but<00:01:21.752> I<00:01:21.768> always,<00:01:22.396> I<00:01:22.477> always<00:01:22.815> had<00:01:23.057> this<00:01:23.298> dream<00:01:24.168> in<00:01:24.249> my<00:01:24.361> mind,<00:01:25.006> sort<00:01:25.231> of<00:01:25.312> back<00:01:25.553> of<00:01:25.602> my<00:01:25.731> mind<00:01:26.198> of<00:01:26.359> could<00:01:26.536> this<00:01:26.745> transfer<00:01:27.567> in<00:01:27.647> the<00:01:27.808> future<00:01:28.292> to<00:01:28.855> other<00:01:29.097> types<00:01:29.419> of<00:01:29.725> more<00:01:29.790> advanced<00:01:30.213> vehicles?
00:01:31.206 --> 00:01:33.096
And<00:01:31.288> could<00:01:31.451> this<00:01:31.613> transfer<00:01:32.086> to<00:01:32.249> a<00:01:32.265> flying<00:01:32.672> machine?
00:01:34.730 --> 00:01:44.511
And<00:01:35.247> recently,<00:01:35.813> sort<00:01:36.039> of<00:01:36.120> the<00:01:36.767> tipping<00:01:37.187> point<00:01:37.494> has<00:01:37.672> been<00:01:37.834> happening<00:01:38.399> with,<00:01:39.127> with<00:01:39.353> energy<00:01:39.677> storage,<00:01:40.097> with<00:01:40.259> batteries,<00:01:41.374> with<00:01:41.714> propulsion<00:01:42.360> systems,<00:01:43.007> and<00:01:43.152> propulsion<00:01:43.589> is<00:01:43.654> really<00:01:43.896> where<00:01:44.122> Pete<00:01:44.300> comes<00:01:44.462> in.
00:01:44.560 --> 00:01:46.355
He<00:01:44.707> really<00:01:44.952> is<00:01:45.180> the<00:01:45.278> tipping<00:01:45.751> point<00:01:46.078> on<00:01:46.176> this.
00:01:46.857 --> 00:01:48.950
What<00:01:46.953> really<00:01:47.195> enables<00:01:47.614> our<00:01:47.758> vehicle<00:01:48.322> to<00:01:48.564> work.
00:01:49.675 --> 00:01:57.961
And<00:01:51.205> I<00:01:51.930> found<00:01:52.252> him<00:01:52.767> through<00:01:54.538> a<00:01:54.603> contest<00:01:55.086> he's<00:01:55.311> been<00:01:55.408> involved<00:01:55.795> in<00:01:55.940> called<00:01:56.053> the<00:01:56.198> Boeing<00:01:56.457> GoFly<00:01:57.573> Prize.
00:01:58.785 --> 00:02:01.680
And<00:01:59.626> so<00:01:59.933> he<00:02:00.095> was<00:02:00.402> highly<00:02:00.726> visible<00:02:01.065> from<00:02:01.372> that.
00:02:01.793 --> 00:02:22.543
And<00:02:02.343> I<00:02:02.585> looked<00:02:02.779> into<00:02:03.151> what<00:02:03.313> he<00:02:03.474> was<00:02:03.652> doing<00:02:03.976> with<00:02:04.137> propulsion,<00:02:05.011> and<00:02:05.172> I'd<00:02:05.285> been<00:02:05.480> sort<00:02:05.609> of<00:02:05.657> sketching<00:02:06.224> out<00:02:06.482> ideas<00:02:06.968> of<00:02:07.129> designs,<00:02:07.614> but<00:02:07.760> I<00:02:07.776> knew<00:02:08.019> that<00:02:08.245> I<00:02:08.278> needed<00:02:09.717> the<00:02:09.863> propulsion<00:02:10.445> design<00:02:10.849> chops<00:02:11.173> to<00:02:11.334> create<00:02:11.561> something<00:02:11.901> really<00:02:12.208> transformative,<00:02:13.065> because<00:02:13.275> I<00:02:13.486> had<00:02:13.583> a<00:02:13.680> gut<00:02:13.922> feeling<00:02:14.391> it<00:02:14.553> wasn't<00:02:15.202> that<00:02:15.362> the<00:02:15.843> sort<00:02:16.083> of<00:02:16.724> big<00:02:16.901> solution<00:02:17.670> isn't<00:02:17.926> these<00:02:18.231> like<00:02:18.471> multicopter,<00:02:19.850> big,<00:02:20.170> huge<00:02:20.651> drone<00:02:21.116> designs<00:02:21.597> with<00:02:21.709> many<00:02:21.998> propellers.
00:02:22.655 --> 00:02:24.995
I<00:02:22.895> always<00:02:23.392> sort<00:02:23.584> of<00:02:23.616> intuitively<00:02:24.113> felt<00:02:24.290> it<00:02:24.322> was<00:02:24.498> beyond<00:02:24.803> that.

And<00:02:25.219> what<00:02:25.364> Pete<00:02:25.620> was<00:02:25.780> doing<00:02:26.005> really<00:02:26.261> caught<00:02:26.518> my<00:02:26.582> eye.
00:02:26.726 --> 00:02:28.858
I<00:02:26.742> felt<00:02:27.127> like,<00:02:27.303> wow,<00:02:27.527> he's<00:02:27.864> cracking<00:02:28.265> the<00:02:28.345> nut<00:02:28.585> on<00:02:28.729> this.
00:02:29.932 --> 00:02:36.647
And<00:02:30.492> I<00:02:30.829> reached<00:02:31.294> out<00:02:31.695> and<00:02:31.871> we<00:02:32.256> got<00:02:32.432> to<00:02:32.528> talking<00:02:33.073> and<00:02:33.634> we<00:02:33.778> both<00:02:34.019> kind<00:02:34.179> of<00:02:34.275> merged<00:02:34.676> on<00:02:34.820> this<00:02:34.996> idea<00:02:35.301> of<00:02:35.461> personal<00:02:35.862> transportation.
00:02:37.625 --> 00:02:43.379
And<00:02:38.619> so<00:02:39.228> that's<00:02:39.388> kind<00:02:39.564> of<00:02:39.629> from<00:02:39.869> my<00:02:40.510> end<00:02:40.686> of<00:02:40.831> it,<00:02:41.007> but<00:02:41.392> maybe<00:02:41.648> Pete<00:02:41.888> can<00:02:42.193> give<00:02:42.305> you<00:02:42.433> his<00:02:42.674> background<00:02:43.026> as<00:02:43.171> well.
00:02:43.732 --> 00:02:46.151
Yeah,<00:02:44.052> Pete.
00:02:46.792 --> 00:02:50.798
So,<00:02:47.481> um,<00:02:48.378> my<00:02:48.538> background,<00:02:49.019> I<00:02:49.083> was<00:02:49.243> in<00:02:49.340> defense<00:02:49.981> for<00:02:50.125> a<00:02:50.205> long<00:02:50.461> time.
00:02:50.862 --> 00:02:53.233
I<00:02:51.006> had<00:02:51.118> a<00:02:51.182> defense<00:02:51.583> company<00:02:52.144> for<00:02:52.224> about<00:02:52.528> 14<00:02:52.945> years.
00:02:53.329 --> 00:02:59.610
We<00:02:53.425> did<00:02:53.906> military<00:02:54.307> contracts<00:02:54.948> doing,<00:02:56.133> um,<00:02:56.806> solutions<00:02:57.591> to<00:02:57.752> roadside<00:02:58.312> bombs<00:02:58.793> and<00:02:58.873> things<00:02:59.097> like<00:02:59.338> that.
00:02:59.690 --> 00:03:02.895
Stuff,<00:03:00.155> built<00:03:00.556> weapon<00:03:00.812> systems<00:03:01.421> that<00:03:01.581> saved<00:03:01.982> lives,<00:03:02.382> not<00:03:02.574> took<00:03:02.783> them.
00:03:03.664 --> 00:03:06.580
Uh,<00:03:04.000> but<00:03:04.241> we<00:03:04.385> were<00:03:04.705> heavy<00:03:04.962> into<00:03:05.186> electrics<00:03:05.843> and,<00:03:06.163> and<00:03:06.324> things<00:03:06.484> like<00:03:06.532> that.
00:03:06.644 --> 00:03:09.865
But<00:03:06.965> my<00:03:07.205> passion<00:03:08.487> had<00:03:08.631> always<00:03:08.887> been<00:03:09.112> for<00:03:09.192> aviation.
00:03:09.929 --> 00:03:17.867
I<00:03:10.009> had<00:03:10.153> started<00:03:10.570> a,<00:03:10.954> a<00:03:10.986> small<00:03:12.173> aviation<00:03:12.720> advertising<00:03:13.299> company<00:03:13.701> back<00:03:13.958> in<00:03:14.023> the<00:03:14.103> '90s<00:03:15.454> and<00:03:16.114> sold<00:03:16.435> it<00:03:16.580> off<00:03:16.773> in<00:03:16.902> the<00:03:17.062> early<00:03:17.175> 2000s.
00:03:17.963 --> 00:03:26.458
And<00:03:18.108> then<00:03:21.592> kind<00:03:21.753> of<00:03:21.818> had<00:03:22.061> this<00:03:22.238> passion<00:03:22.723> to<00:03:22.885> do<00:03:23.208> personal<00:03:23.613> vertical<00:03:24.081> flight<00:03:24.841> starting<00:03:25.165> in<00:03:25.229> about<00:03:25.472> 2006.
00:03:26.523 --> 00:03:34.107
And<00:03:26.830> I<00:03:26.911> was<00:03:27.088> trying<00:03:28.059> various<00:03:29.094> gas-powered<00:03:29.837> engine<00:03:30.161> designs<00:03:30.969> and<00:03:31.762> just<00:03:31.924> wasn't<00:03:32.263> really<00:03:33.395> going<00:03:33.621> to<00:03:33.783> work.
00:03:34.187 --> 00:03:38.574
You<00:03:34.220> know,<00:03:34.446> that<00:03:34.850> just,<00:03:35.093> that<00:03:35.255> technology<00:03:36.775> was<00:03:36.840> hard<00:03:37.120> to<00:03:37.203> control,<00:03:37.930> let<00:03:38.029> alone<00:03:38.426> loud.
00:03:39.830 --> 00:03:42.935
Fume-y<00:03:40.344> and,<00:03:40.731> you<00:03:40.827> know,<00:03:41.551> gas<00:03:41.873> guzzling<00:03:42.179> and<00:03:42.420> all<00:03:42.597> of<00:03:42.742> that.
00:03:43.000 --> 00:04:03.205
So<00:03:46.540> when<00:03:46.685> I<00:03:46.717> started<00:03:47.103> working<00:03:47.425> with<00:03:47.586> drones,<00:03:48.213> probably<00:03:48.712> in<00:03:48.954> 2011<00:03:50.245> or<00:03:50.342> so,<00:03:51.520> I<00:03:52.520> started<00:03:52.988> playing<00:03:53.311> with<00:03:53.553> some<00:03:53.698> of<00:03:53.730> these<00:03:53.875> electric<00:03:54.343> drones<00:03:54.763> and<00:03:54.908> they<00:03:54.989> were<00:03:55.150> very<00:03:55.328> nascent<00:03:55.828> at<00:03:55.957> the<00:03:56.054> time,<00:03:56.941> but<00:03:57.183> started<00:03:57.748> developing<00:03:58.248> some<00:03:58.458> propulsion<00:03:58.958> ideas<00:03:59.669> and<00:04:02.430> learned<00:04:02.656> what<00:04:02.753> I<00:04:02.898> could.
00:04:03.480 --> 00:04:06.854
We<00:04:03.641> built<00:04:03.948> a<00:04:04.045> heavy<00:04:04.287> lift<00:04:04.610> drone<00:04:05.013> that<00:04:05.256> won<00:04:05.417> a<00:04:05.433> little<00:04:05.724> competition<00:04:06.305> in<00:04:06.386> 2015.
00:04:07.756 --> 00:04:11.395
Actually<00:04:08.493> flew<00:04:08.734> a<00:04:08.814> person<00:04:09.311> in<00:04:09.471> a<00:04:09.599> quadcopter<00:04:10.577> in<00:04:10.737> 2015.
00:04:11.523 --> 00:04:13.382
Also,<00:04:11.699> it<00:04:11.924> was<00:04:12.020> covered<00:04:12.260> by<00:04:12.420> Popular<00:04:12.821> Science.
00:04:14.280 --> 00:04:18.560
So<00:04:14.648> there<00:04:14.809> was,<00:04:15.530> you<00:04:15.562> know,<00:04:15.722> some<00:04:16.091> work<00:04:16.412> I<00:04:16.492> had<00:04:16.652> done<00:04:16.973> while<00:04:17.229> I<00:04:17.309> was<00:04:17.534> running<00:04:17.710> my<00:04:17.870> defense<00:04:18.255> company.
00:04:18.752 --> 00:04:27.007
I,<00:04:19.473> you<00:04:19.537> know,<00:04:19.714> do<00:04:19.810> these<00:04:19.986> little<00:04:20.146> side<00:04:20.435> projects,<00:04:21.060> you<00:04:21.092> know,<00:04:21.317> for<00:04:21.541> personal<00:04:21.862> flight,<00:04:22.278> but,<00:04:22.759> but<00:04:22.919> mostly<00:04:23.304> in<00:04:23.336> the<00:04:23.464> area<00:04:23.625> of<00:04:23.705> propulsion<00:04:24.843> and<00:04:24.987> just<00:04:25.067> started<00:04:25.484> iterating<00:04:25.965> and<00:04:26.109> learning<00:04:26.382> through<00:04:26.766> that.
00:04:27.231 --> 00:04:34.781
And<00:04:28.193> I<00:04:28.209> sold<00:04:28.594> my<00:04:28.850> defense<00:04:29.235> company<00:04:29.572> in<00:04:29.636> 2018,<00:04:30.453> basically<00:04:31.495> sold<00:04:31.719> my<00:04:31.880> building<00:04:32.216> and<00:04:32.296> the<00:04:32.457> assets<00:04:32.922> off<00:04:33.178> and<00:04:33.258> everything<00:04:33.819> and<00:04:34.044> had<00:04:34.140> a<00:04:34.204> little<00:04:34.380> bit<00:04:34.476> of<00:04:34.605> money.
00:04:35.280 --> 00:04:48.369
So<00:04:35.361> I<00:04:35.426> started<00:04:35.815> this<00:04:35.977> company<00:04:36.302> called<00:04:36.496> Electric<00:04:36.885> Jet<00:04:37.129> Aircraft<00:04:37.842> that<00:04:38.101> was<00:04:38.328> really—<00:04:38.653> the<00:04:38.750> whole<00:04:38.912> idea<00:04:39.301> was<00:04:39.463> to<00:04:39.561> build<00:04:40.031> personal<00:04:42.790> electric<00:04:43.513> jet<00:04:44.816> propulsion-driven<00:04:47.147> wearable<00:04:47.774> aircraft.
00:04:48.771 --> 00:04:52.906
So<00:04:49.076> the<00:04:49.141> idea<00:04:49.414> of<00:04:49.542> like<00:04:49.719> an<00:04:49.800> electric<00:04:50.170> jetpack<00:04:51.902> was<00:04:52.129> really<00:04:52.371> sort<00:04:52.566> of<00:04:52.695> core.
00:04:53.521 --> 00:04:55.059
I<00:04:53.667> did<00:04:53.780> a<00:04:53.990> patent<00:04:54.476> on<00:04:54.638> that.
00:04:56.410 --> 00:04:56.507
I—.
00:04:57.417 --> 00:05:17.131
The<00:04:57.499> patent<00:04:57.824> was<00:04:57.986> awarded<00:04:58.539> last<00:04:58.945> year<00:05:00.002> and<00:05:01.573> we<00:05:01.717> were<00:05:02.038> able,<00:05:02.599> you<00:05:02.631> know,<00:05:02.920> in<00:05:03.000> that<00:05:03.177> time,<00:05:04.363> I<00:05:04.380> was<00:05:04.604> able<00:05:04.861> to<00:05:05.182> basically<00:05:07.026> build<00:05:07.283> a<00:05:07.347> few<00:05:07.732> designs<00:05:08.389> of<00:05:08.550> the<00:05:08.630> electric<00:05:09.031> jetpack<00:05:09.673> in<00:05:09.977> addition<00:05:10.475> to<00:05:10.635> what<00:05:10.779> I<00:05:10.860> was<00:05:11.020> doing<00:05:11.277> for<00:05:11.373> the<00:05:11.517> GoFly<00:05:11.918> competition,<00:05:12.496> which<00:05:12.704> was<00:05:12.800> a<00:05:12.865> slightly<00:05:13.266> different<00:05:13.522> approach,<00:05:14.404> but<00:05:14.549> still<00:05:14.870> sort<00:05:15.062> of<00:05:15.142> an<00:05:15.206> encapsulated<00:05:16.153> propulsion<00:05:16.666> system.
00:05:18.158 --> 00:05:29.129
When<00:05:18.334> Carlos<00:05:18.799> called<00:05:19.056> me<00:05:19.297> and<00:05:19.441> I<00:05:19.537> thought,<00:05:19.922> you<00:05:19.954> know<00:05:20.163> what,<00:05:20.419> this<00:05:20.580> is<00:05:20.724> really—<00:05:21.141> this<00:05:21.301> is<00:05:21.462> perfect<00:05:21.927> because<00:05:23.306> if<00:05:23.387> we<00:05:23.547> can<00:05:23.707> prove<00:05:24.253> what<00:05:24.365> I'm<00:05:24.590> doing<00:05:24.991> with<00:05:25.167> an<00:05:25.311> electric<00:05:25.712> jetpack,<00:05:26.514> a<00:05:26.611> flying<00:05:26.980> car<00:05:27.236> is<00:05:27.381> actually<00:05:27.733> a<00:05:27.782> little<00:05:28.038> easier<00:05:28.231> because<00:05:28.439> you<00:05:28.471> don't<00:05:28.584> have<00:05:28.696> to<00:05:28.840> wear<00:05:29.001> it.
00:05:29.547 --> 00:05:30.851
You<00:05:29.595> don't<00:05:29.708> have<00:05:29.756> to<00:05:29.788> carry<00:05:30.046> it,<00:05:30.513> you<00:05:30.545> know?
00:05:31.414 --> 00:05:32.718
So<00:05:31.994> it<00:05:32.123> carries<00:05:32.525> you.
00:05:32.799 --> 00:05:38.547
So,<00:05:35.118> and<00:05:35.198> Carlos<00:05:35.601> and<00:05:35.745> I,<00:05:36.325> I<00:05:36.341> mean,<00:05:36.711> he's<00:05:36.889> just<00:05:37.452> the<00:05:37.613> best<00:05:37.855> partner<00:05:38.177> in<00:05:38.257> the<00:05:38.402> world.
00:05:38.660 --> 00:05:40.223
I<00:05:38.676> mean,<00:05:38.885> we<00:05:38.950> have<00:05:39.067> just<00:05:39.234> gotten<00:05:39.469> along<00:05:39.670> so<00:05:39.904> great.
00:05:41.698 --> 00:05:43.309
I've<00:05:41.779> never<00:05:42.007> had<00:05:42.088> a<00:05:42.105> better<00:05:42.414> partner<00:05:42.674> to<00:05:42.821> work<00:05:43.000> with.
00:05:43.716 --> 00:05:44.758
We<00:05:43.814> get<00:05:43.993> so<00:05:44.140> much<00:05:44.384> done.
00:05:46.150 --> 00:05:51.798
We're<00:05:46.246> both<00:05:46.650> really<00:05:46.908> good<00:05:47.086> at<00:05:47.215> what<00:05:47.376> we<00:05:47.554> do<00:05:48.199> and<00:05:48.506> complement<00:05:48.909> each<00:05:49.087> other<00:05:49.329> in<00:05:49.410> our<00:05:49.636> areas<00:05:50.136> that<00:05:50.297> we<00:05:50.459> don't<00:05:50.701> know<00:05:51.120> stuff<00:05:51.362> about.
00:05:51.847 --> 00:05:54.187
And<00:05:52.573> it's<00:05:52.702> just,<00:05:52.944> it's<00:05:53.105> just<00:05:53.202> been<00:05:53.364> a<00:05:53.428> perfect<00:05:53.832> partnership.
00:05:54.235 --> 00:06:02.800
We've<00:05:54.332> been<00:05:54.477> working<00:05:54.736> together<00:05:55.204> now<00:05:55.300> for<00:05:55.430> 2<00:05:55.546> and<00:05:55.629> a<00:05:55.712> half<00:05:55.962> years<00:05:56.460> and<00:05:57.613> just<00:05:57.725> super<00:05:57.998> exciting<00:05:59.363> work,<00:06:00.006> and<00:06:00.503> his<00:06:00.744> designs<00:06:01.868> are<00:06:02.029> just<00:06:02.270> beautiful.
00:06:03.137 --> 00:06:08.548
And,<00:06:04.100> uh,<00:06:04.293> if<00:06:04.422> I<00:06:04.518> was<00:06:04.678> to<00:06:04.823> design<00:06:05.176> a<00:06:05.241> flying<00:06:05.562> car,<00:06:05.819> it<00:06:05.883> wouldn't<00:06:06.043> look<00:06:06.204> anywhere<00:06:06.445> near<00:06:06.605> as<00:06:06.766> cool<00:06:07.151> as<00:06:07.954> his.
00:06:08.998 --> 00:06:14.329
But,<00:06:09.817> but<00:06:10.684> at<00:06:10.780> the<00:06:10.861> same<00:06:11.166> time,<00:06:11.503> like<00:06:11.728> you<00:06:11.808> said,<00:06:12.145> you<00:06:12.210> know,<00:06:12.386> the<00:06:12.450> propulsion<00:06:12.948> system<00:06:13.285> is<00:06:13.350> sort<00:06:13.591> of<00:06:13.671> at<00:06:13.751> the<00:06:13.896> heart<00:06:14.137> of<00:06:14.249> it.
00:06:14.393 --> 00:06:17.493
It<00:06:14.554> makes<00:06:15.598> the<00:06:15.742> design<00:06:16.240> flexibility<00:06:17.027> possible.
00:06:18.312 --> 00:06:23.546
Um,<00:06:19.275> and<00:06:19.371> we<00:06:19.516> really<00:06:19.933> believe<00:06:20.335> we've<00:06:20.881> kind<00:06:20.977> of<00:06:21.057> cracked<00:06:21.379> the<00:06:21.427> nut<00:06:22.005> on<00:06:22.182> the<00:06:22.262> whole<00:06:22.503> idea<00:06:22.744> of<00:06:22.888> a<00:06:22.968> flying<00:06:23.225> car.
00:06:23.675 --> 00:06:32.278
I<00:06:23.691> mean,<00:06:23.787> between<00:06:24.108> his<00:06:24.269> design<00:06:25.072> and<00:06:25.152> my<00:06:25.297> propulsion,<00:06:26.179> you<00:06:26.211> know,<00:06:26.356> the<00:06:26.500> combined<00:06:27.062> efforts<00:06:27.399> of<00:06:27.479> what<00:06:27.640> we're<00:06:27.784> trying<00:06:27.977> to<00:06:28.041> do,<00:06:29.470> I,<00:06:29.630> I<00:06:29.726> think<00:06:31.171> nobody's<00:06:31.652> even<00:06:31.877> close.
00:06:32.760 --> 00:06:42.887
And,<00:06:33.723> um,<00:06:35.408> you<00:06:35.488> know,<00:06:35.825> we<00:06:36.002> talk<00:06:36.371> like—<00:06:36.965> I'm<00:06:37.109> sure<00:06:37.270> a<00:06:37.350> lot<00:06:37.511> of<00:06:37.591> other<00:06:39.116> flying<00:06:39.742> car<00:06:40.239> air<00:06:40.400> taxi<00:06:40.881> companies<00:06:41.828> talk<00:06:42.149> the<00:06:42.181> same<00:06:42.631> way.
00:06:43.433 --> 00:06:50.158
The<00:06:43.529> difference<00:06:43.931> is<00:06:44.075> that<00:06:44.171> 95%<00:06:45.150> of<00:06:45.295> them<00:06:45.471> are<00:06:45.600> all<00:06:45.857> doing<00:06:46.162> like<00:06:46.402> these<00:06:47.221> basically<00:06:47.702> a<00:06:47.718> big<00:06:47.943> drone<00:06:48.280> slapped<00:06:48.665> on<00:06:48.810> an<00:06:48.890> airplane<00:06:49.372> kind<00:06:49.548> of<00:06:49.693> concept.
00:06:50.816 --> 00:06:54.172
And,<00:06:51.394> uh,<00:06:51.780> and/or<00:06:52.197> an<00:06:52.598> electric<00:06:53.000> helicopter<00:06:53.498> effectively.
00:06:54.991 --> 00:07:00.145
And<00:06:55.087> it's,<00:06:55.729> it's<00:06:55.970> not<00:06:56.516> what<00:06:56.677> people<00:06:57.014> see<00:06:57.576> or<00:06:57.737> envision<00:06:58.218> when<00:06:58.363> they<00:06:58.604> think<00:06:58.780> about<00:06:58.957> a<00:06:59.085> flying<00:06:59.406> car<00:06:59.728> for<00:06:59.808> the<00:06:59.904> future.
00:07:00.803 --> 00:07:01.510
It's<00:07:00.948> just<00:07:01.173> not.
00:07:02.056 --> 00:07:03.934
Um,<00:07:02.714> but<00:07:02.875> we're<00:07:03.099> actually<00:07:03.517> doing<00:07:03.838> it.
00:07:03.999 --> 00:07:05.749
We're<00:07:04.143> actually<00:07:04.416> flying<00:07:05.363> stuff.
00:07:05.829 --> 00:07:08.013
We've<00:07:06.006> gotten<00:07:06.247> stuff<00:07:06.552> off<00:07:06.712> the<00:07:06.792> ground<00:07:07.130> with<00:07:07.370> people<00:07:07.852> in<00:07:07.932> it.
00:07:08.800 --> 00:07:25.019
Uh,<00:07:09.281> and<00:07:09.763> we<00:07:09.923> feel<00:07:10.084> like,<00:07:10.566> you<00:07:10.662> know,<00:07:10.903> we're<00:07:11.064> just<00:07:12.107> really,<00:07:12.428> we're<00:07:12.573> just<00:07:12.749> funding<00:07:13.231> away<00:07:13.633> from<00:07:14.195> being<00:07:14.516> able<00:07:14.757> to<00:07:15.062> get<00:07:15.399> this<00:07:16.347> dream<00:07:16.686> into<00:07:16.929> a<00:07:17.009> reality<00:07:18.366> and<00:07:18.608> into,<00:07:18.931> you<00:07:19.416> know,<00:07:19.690> sort<00:07:19.916> of<00:07:20.223> the<00:07:20.385> accessible<00:07:21.693> car<00:07:21.935> in<00:07:22.080> every<00:07:22.322> driveway<00:07:22.904> kind<00:07:23.082> of<00:07:23.211> dream<00:07:23.566> is<00:07:24.260> within<00:07:24.583> reach<00:07:24.922> now.
00:07:25.470 --> 00:07:32.192
And<00:07:26.953> so,<00:07:27.179> yeah,<00:07:27.437> so<00:07:28.227> that's<00:07:28.533> the<00:07:28.630> background<00:07:30.645> of<00:07:31.031> how<00:07:31.305> we<00:07:31.434> got<00:07:31.515> to<00:07:31.853> where<00:07:31.918> we<00:07:31.998> are<00:07:32.047> today.
00:07:33.443 --> 00:07:35.455
What<00:07:33.611> are<00:07:33.762> the<00:07:33.946> barriers<00:07:34.617> to<00:07:34.801> success?
00:07:37.468 --> 00:07:38.950
Oh,<00:07:37.500> there's<00:07:37.725> lots<00:07:37.983> of<00:07:38.064> them.
00:07:39.562 --> 00:07:40.431
I<00:07:39.723> would<00:07:39.884> imagine.
00:07:41.253 --> 00:07:48.138
Well,<00:07:41.430> the<00:07:41.575> biggest<00:07:41.994> one,<00:07:42.719> I<00:07:42.783> think,<00:07:43.041> you<00:07:43.121> know,<00:07:43.524> the<00:07:43.669> biggest<00:07:44.072> ones<00:07:44.410> I<00:07:44.490> think<00:07:44.652> we've<00:07:44.893> already<00:07:45.070> solved,<00:07:45.618> which<00:07:45.860> is<00:07:47.094> Does<00:07:47.270> your<00:07:47.415> idea<00:07:47.897> work?
00:07:48.459 --> 00:07:49.824
And<00:07:48.619> can<00:07:48.764> you<00:07:48.924> prove<00:07:49.181> that<00:07:49.278> it<00:07:49.422> works?
00:07:50.145 --> 00:08:01.981
I<00:07:50.161> mean,<00:07:50.386> a<00:07:50.402> lot<00:07:50.627> of<00:07:50.739> people,<00:07:52.136> you<00:07:52.168> know,<00:07:52.474> computational<00:07:53.341> power<00:07:53.758> right<00:07:53.983> now<00:07:54.240> is<00:07:54.385> high<00:07:54.626> enough<00:07:54.882> that<00:07:55.027> you<00:07:55.188> can<00:07:55.284> design<00:07:55.685> an<00:07:55.766> airliner<00:07:56.392> on<00:07:56.488> a<00:07:56.504> screen<00:07:57.613> and<00:07:57.693> be<00:07:57.853> about<00:07:58.175> 99%<00:07:58.978> sure<00:07:59.315> that<00:07:59.459> when<00:07:59.620> you<00:07:59.781> fabricate<00:08:00.343> it,<00:08:00.423> it's<00:08:00.567> going<00:08:00.728> to<00:08:00.905> fly.
00:08:02.350 --> 00:08:03.571
That<00:08:02.527> stuff<00:08:03.073> does<00:08:03.378> work.
00:08:04.438 --> 00:08:09.095
When<00:08:04.518> you're<00:08:04.663> talking<00:08:05.064> about<00:08:05.562> less<00:08:05.803> conventional<00:08:06.445> things<00:08:06.686> like<00:08:06.911> what<00:08:07.072> we're<00:08:07.152> trying<00:08:07.312> to<00:08:07.409> do,<00:08:07.714> you<00:08:07.810> really<00:08:08.051> have<00:08:08.276> to<00:08:08.453> build<00:08:08.694> it<00:08:08.914> to<00:08:08.934> prove<00:08:09.063> it.
00:08:10.364 --> 00:08:17.778
And<00:08:11.488> we<00:08:11.584> were<00:08:11.729> able<00:08:11.938> to<00:08:12.050> raise<00:08:12.323> a<00:08:12.387> pre-seed<00:08:12.949> round<00:08:13.832> that<00:08:14.073> got<00:08:14.249> us<00:08:14.474> funding<00:08:14.795> to<00:08:14.955> build<00:08:15.372> our<00:08:15.901> sort<00:08:16.062> of<00:08:16.415> skeletal<00:08:17.120> prototype.
00:08:17.842 --> 00:08:19.109
It<00:08:17.906> doesn't<00:08:18.131> have<00:08:18.323> the<00:08:18.404> skins<00:08:18.869> on<00:08:19.045> it.
00:08:19.206 --> 00:08:22.558
It's<00:08:19.366> basically<00:08:19.831> a<00:08:19.911> full-scale<00:08:21.146> single-person<00:08:21.996> prototype.
00:08:23.536 --> 00:08:28.861
And<00:08:23.697> we've<00:08:23.921> already<00:08:24.098> been<00:08:24.258> able<00:08:24.483> to<00:08:24.579> take<00:08:24.884> off<00:08:25.541> the<00:08:25.621> ground<00:08:26.006> with<00:08:26.247> it,<00:08:26.744> both<00:08:27.065> empty<00:08:27.530> and<00:08:27.691> with<00:08:27.803> a<00:08:27.867> person<00:08:28.252> in<00:08:28.332> the<00:08:28.412> cockpit.
00:08:29.792 --> 00:08:41.549
We've<00:08:30.097> tethered<00:08:30.449> it<00:08:30.594> to<00:08:30.738> this<00:08:30.915> point<00:08:31.075> because<00:08:31.316> we<00:08:31.412> only<00:08:31.620> have<00:08:31.797> one<00:08:32.021> prototype,<00:08:32.583> but<00:08:32.759> we're<00:08:32.903> hoping<00:08:33.224> over<00:08:33.385> the<00:08:33.417> next<00:08:33.705> few<00:08:33.802> months,<00:08:34.748> as<00:08:35.309> funding<00:08:35.630> comes<00:08:35.951> in,<00:08:36.208> we're<00:08:36.352> able<00:08:36.609> to<00:08:36.833> test<00:08:37.090> that<00:08:37.154> and<00:08:37.475> fly<00:08:37.587> it<00:08:37.747> around<00:08:38.694> and<00:08:38.854> do<00:08:39.015> demonstrations<00:08:39.801> with<00:08:39.913> it<00:08:40.057> just<00:08:40.218> to<00:08:40.362> prove<00:08:40.603> the<00:08:40.683> propulsion<00:08:41.244> works.
00:08:42.543 --> 00:08:44.760
Everything<00:08:43.009> else<00:08:43.491> is<00:08:44.310> knowable.
00:08:45.659 --> 00:08:50.975
And<00:08:45.836> so<00:08:46.060> we've,<00:08:46.398> we've<00:08:46.558> already<00:08:47.666> validated<00:08:48.325> the<00:08:48.550> aerodynamics<00:08:49.288> design<00:08:49.770> with<00:08:50.011> an<00:08:50.075> outside<00:08:50.573> firm.
00:08:51.521 --> 00:08:54.476
Um,<00:08:52.966> all<00:08:53.079> of<00:08:53.159> that's<00:08:53.946> within<00:08:54.267> reach.
00:08:54.524 --> 00:08:59.695
So<00:08:54.909> the<00:08:55.070> big<00:08:55.295> thing<00:08:55.616> was,<00:08:56.580> I<00:08:56.676> think,<00:08:56.853> solving<00:08:57.640> the<00:08:57.961> propulsion<00:08:59.246> question.
00:08:59.952 --> 00:09:00.627
Does<00:09:00.193> it<00:09:00.306> work?
00:09:00.691 --> 00:09:01.205
Will<00:09:00.852> it<00:09:01.012> work?
00:09:01.333 --> 00:09:02.891
Will<00:09:01.478> it<00:09:01.574> transition<00:09:02.201> the<00:09:02.297> way<00:09:02.442> you<00:09:02.538> want<00:09:02.698> it<00:09:02.779> to?
00:09:03.004 --> 00:09:03.485
All<00:09:03.100> of<00:09:03.245> that.
00:09:03.983 --> 00:09:05.862
And<00:09:04.064> that's<00:09:04.304> what<00:09:04.449> we're<00:09:04.529> in<00:09:04.626> the<00:09:04.706> process<00:09:05.107> of<00:09:05.204> solving<00:09:05.670> now.
00:09:05.991 --> 00:09:11.324
But<00:09:06.456> the<00:09:06.537> other<00:09:07.099> obvious<00:09:07.436> biggest<00:09:07.822> one,<00:09:08.079> which<00:09:08.239> is<00:09:08.400> the<00:09:08.942> hindrance<00:09:09.355> to<00:09:09.454> any<00:09:09.686> company<00:09:10.116> at<00:09:10.199> this<00:09:10.431> point<00:09:10.761> is<00:09:11.010> funding.
00:09:13.370 --> 00:09:14.663
Just<00:09:13.450> having<00:09:13.709> enough<00:09:13.968> resources.
00:09:15.342 --> 00:09:18.916
I<00:09:15.504> think<00:09:15.989> what<00:09:16.135> we've<00:09:16.377> been<00:09:16.474> able<00:09:16.701> to<00:09:16.798> do<00:09:17.105> is<00:09:17.267> be<00:09:17.429> really<00:09:17.687> efficient<00:09:18.092> with<00:09:18.253> what<00:09:18.415> we<00:09:18.577> have.
00:09:19.586 --> 00:09:25.909
And<00:09:19.731> so<00:09:20.489> that<00:09:20.650> efficiency<00:09:21.296> allows<00:09:21.634> us<00:09:21.780> to<00:09:21.876> go<00:09:22.022> a<00:09:22.038> lot<00:09:22.409> further<00:09:22.731> on<00:09:22.812> a<00:09:22.828> lot<00:09:23.215> less<00:09:23.957> than<00:09:24.683> maybe<00:09:25.006> others<00:09:25.329> in<00:09:25.409> the<00:09:25.474> industry.
00:09:26.039 --> 00:09:30.507
But<00:09:26.861> that's<00:09:27.168> still<00:09:27.426> going<00:09:27.571> to<00:09:27.668> be<00:09:27.749> a<00:09:27.813> challenge<00:09:28.378> going<00:09:28.636> forward<00:09:28.958> as<00:09:29.104> we<00:09:29.200> get<00:09:29.330> further<00:09:29.684> and<00:09:29.733> further<00:09:29.926> into<00:09:30.152> this<00:09:30.314> project.
00:09:30.572 --> 00:09:31.411
And<00:09:30.955> I'll<00:09:30.975> let<00:09:31.120> Carlos—.
00:09:31.443 --> 00:09:32.201
Yeah,<00:09:31.685> Carlos.
00:09:33.540 --> 00:09:37.753
I<00:09:33.556> was<00:09:33.702> going<00:09:33.766> to<00:09:33.879> ask<00:09:34.040> you,<00:09:34.121> Carlos,<00:09:34.524> like<00:09:35.073> what<00:09:35.250> has<00:09:35.573> the<00:09:35.654> response<00:09:36.364> been<00:09:36.870> from<00:09:37.126> investors?
00:09:38.652 --> 00:09:40.482
And<00:09:39.856> what<00:09:39.968> is<00:09:40.177> the<00:09:40.273> pitch?
00:09:40.659 --> 00:09:44.416
Like,<00:09:41.060> I<00:09:41.317> can't<00:09:41.879> even<00:09:41.975> imagine,<00:09:42.361> like,<00:09:42.521> what<00:09:42.666> it's<00:09:42.762> like<00:09:42.939> to<00:09:43.019> raise<00:09:43.244> money<00:09:43.484> for<00:09:43.645> something<00:09:43.966> like<00:09:44.207> this.
00:09:45.812 --> 00:09:58.625
Yeah,<00:09:46.118> well,<00:09:46.455> kind<00:09:47.241> of<00:09:47.338> piggybacking<00:09:48.124> off<00:09:48.719> or<00:09:49.088> continuing<00:09:49.730> on<00:09:49.810> what<00:09:49.987> Pete<00:09:50.228> was<00:09:50.388> saying,<00:09:51.352> that<00:09:51.817> oftentimes,<00:09:53.262> the<00:09:53.343> first<00:09:53.680> questions<00:09:54.161> out<00:09:54.258> of<00:09:54.322> people's<00:09:54.723> mouths<00:09:55.028> after<00:09:55.285> that's<00:09:55.526> so<00:09:55.751> cool<00:09:56.313> is,<00:09:57.292> well,<00:09:57.517> what<00:09:57.629> about<00:09:57.854> regulations?
00:09:58.737 --> 00:10:01.467
What<00:09:58.882> about<00:09:59.299> what<00:09:59.444> kind<00:09:59.604> of<00:09:59.701> license,<00:10:00.102> pilot's<00:10:00.423> license<00:10:00.889> will<00:10:00.985> I<00:10:01.065> need?
00:10:01.531 --> 00:10:02.574
Where<00:10:01.691> can<00:10:01.852> I<00:10:01.948> fly<00:10:02.334> this?
00:10:03.216 --> 00:10:04.451
All<00:10:03.473> really<00:10:03.777> good<00:10:03.954> questions.
00:10:04.515 --> 00:10:15.403
And<00:10:04.756> a<00:10:04.820> lot<00:10:04.980> of<00:10:05.012> times<00:10:06.680> we<00:10:06.824> found<00:10:07.145> that<00:10:07.562> investors<00:10:08.043> who<00:10:08.203> don't<00:10:08.508> know<00:10:08.684> much<00:10:08.925> about<00:10:09.149> the<00:10:09.230> space<00:10:09.646> get<00:10:09.871> really<00:10:10.112> freaked<00:10:10.512> out<00:10:10.609> by<00:10:10.769> that<00:10:10.929> because<00:10:11.651> they<00:10:11.795> don't<00:10:12.597> have<00:10:12.789> an<00:10:12.854> understanding<00:10:13.335> of<00:10:13.415> the<00:10:13.495> regulatory<00:10:14.938> environment.
00:10:16.702 --> 00:10:25.377
We<00:10:16.782> have<00:10:16.959> an<00:10:17.247> amazing<00:10:18.530> advisory<00:10:19.107> board<00:10:19.412> member<00:10:19.749> named<00:10:19.973> Sue<00:10:20.150> Gardner,<00:10:20.615> who<00:10:20.791> has<00:10:21.032> an<00:10:21.192> extensive<00:10:21.753> background<00:10:22.315> both<00:10:22.619> as<00:10:22.731> a<00:10:22.796> pilot<00:10:23.357> and<00:10:23.662> as<00:10:23.758> an<00:10:23.854> administrator<00:10:24.784> within<00:10:25.025> the<00:10:25.265> FAA.
00:10:26.404 --> 00:10:30.701
And<00:10:26.484> she<00:10:26.644> actually<00:10:27.029> wrote<00:10:27.286> the<00:10:27.430> current<00:10:28.328> sport<00:10:28.729> pilot<00:10:29.515> and<00:10:30.012> drone<00:10:30.477> laws.
00:10:30.958 --> 00:10:34.325
So<00:10:31.070> she<00:10:31.455> knows<00:10:31.920> how<00:10:32.000> to<00:10:32.497> write<00:10:32.674> the<00:10:32.802> legislation,<00:10:33.620> implement<00:10:34.245> it.
00:10:34.903 --> 00:10:36.076
Get<00:10:35.000> it<00:10:35.144> put<00:10:35.385> into<00:10:35.771> action.
00:10:36.173 --> 00:10:40.977
So<00:10:37.137> she's<00:10:38.101> helping<00:10:38.663> us<00:10:38.840> to<00:10:39.097> sort<00:10:39.322> of<00:10:39.467> tailor<00:10:40.110> our<00:10:40.367> approach.
00:10:42.375 --> 00:10:56.628
But<00:10:43.243> what's<00:10:44.770> really<00:10:45.027> cool<00:10:45.573> is<00:10:45.734> that<00:10:46.376> our<00:10:46.473> vehicle<00:10:46.859> itself<00:10:47.501> really<00:10:48.706> is—<00:10:49.365> it's<00:10:49.912> more<00:10:50.554> practical,<00:10:51.518> it's<00:10:51.840> safer,<00:10:52.659> and<00:10:52.756> it's<00:10:52.900> more<00:10:53.045> high<00:10:53.222> performance<00:10:53.945> than<00:10:54.266> both<00:10:54.829> conventional<00:10:55.391> aircraft<00:10:55.873> and<00:10:56.018> helicopters.
00:10:56.677 --> 00:10:59.971
So<00:10:56.998> actually,<00:10:57.319> the<00:10:57.400> certification<00:10:58.765> process<00:10:59.312> is<00:10:59.408> simpler.
00:11:00.612 --> 00:11:04.876
Because<00:11:00.997> we<00:11:01.093> can<00:11:01.254> show<00:11:01.574> that<00:11:01.751> this<00:11:01.975> is<00:11:02.296> safer<00:11:02.937> around<00:11:03.257> people<00:11:03.578> and<00:11:03.722> property<00:11:04.299> to<00:11:04.524> operate.
00:11:04.957 --> 00:11:10.872
And<00:11:05.181> those<00:11:05.341> are<00:11:05.422> really<00:11:05.822> the<00:11:05.983> two<00:11:06.287> big<00:11:06.528> things<00:11:07.586> that<00:11:08.531> we<00:11:08.596> have<00:11:08.708> to<00:11:08.772> be<00:11:08.852> cognizant<00:11:09.349> of<00:11:09.445> and<00:11:09.573> the<00:11:09.750> FAA<00:11:10.070> is<00:11:10.151> really<00:11:10.375> looking<00:11:10.696> for.
00:11:11.834 --> 00:11:22.622
So,<00:11:12.956> and<00:11:13.277> a<00:11:13.293> lot<00:11:13.501> of<00:11:13.533> times<00:11:13.822> also<00:11:14.062> people<00:11:14.319> don't<00:11:14.479> know<00:11:14.703> that<00:11:14.880> even<00:11:15.104> with<00:11:15.441> conventional<00:11:16.387> helicopters<00:11:17.364> today,<00:11:18.631> you<00:11:18.727> can<00:11:18.951> actually<00:11:20.394> land<00:11:21.212> just<00:11:21.468> about<00:11:21.757> anywhere<00:11:22.158> with<00:11:22.414> one.
00:11:23.296 --> 00:11:28.841
There<00:11:23.520> are<00:11:23.616> restrictions<00:11:24.177> around<00:11:24.418> major<00:11:24.658> cities<00:11:24.995> like<00:11:25.203> here<00:11:25.316> in<00:11:25.444> New<00:11:25.476> York<00:11:25.716> City,<00:11:26.886> there<00:11:26.982> are<00:11:27.143> designated<00:11:28.040> spots<00:11:28.489> for<00:11:28.617> that.
00:11:28.905 --> 00:11:37.124
But<00:11:29.145> if<00:11:29.226> you<00:11:29.306> want<00:11:29.450> to<00:11:29.482> land<00:11:29.866> at<00:11:29.963> someone's<00:11:30.331> house<00:11:30.892> or<00:11:32.334> in<00:11:32.430> a<00:11:32.814> business<00:11:33.167> or<00:11:33.231> something,<00:11:33.792> as<00:11:33.904> long<00:11:34.016> as<00:11:34.048> you<00:11:34.096> have<00:11:34.273> permission<00:11:34.977> most<00:11:35.170> of<00:11:35.218> the<00:11:35.298> time<00:11:35.634> from<00:11:35.875> the<00:11:36.035> landowner,<00:11:36.580> you<00:11:36.740> can<00:11:36.916> do<00:11:37.076> it.
00:11:37.637 --> 00:11:38.695
People<00:11:37.861> don't<00:11:38.022> realize<00:11:38.502> that.
00:11:38.759 --> 00:11:48.164
And,<00:11:39.319> but<00:11:39.464> obviously<00:11:39.880> a<00:11:39.944> helicopter<00:11:40.601> is<00:11:40.745> extremely<00:11:41.547> expensive<00:11:42.203> and<00:11:42.284> complicated<00:11:43.710> and<00:11:43.982> it<00:11:44.046> causes<00:11:44.511> a<00:11:44.591> lot<00:11:44.751> of<00:11:44.847> environmental<00:11:45.472> disturbance<00:11:46.209> and<00:11:46.305> it's<00:11:46.513> dangerous<00:11:47.090> in<00:11:47.475> many<00:11:47.715> aspects.
00:11:48.212 --> 00:11:55.886
So<00:11:49.397> what<00:11:49.558> we're<00:11:49.718> offering<00:11:50.134> is<00:11:50.295> a<00:11:50.311> much<00:11:51.032> safer,<00:11:51.673> more<00:11:51.961> kind<00:11:52.121> of<00:11:52.217> human-centered<00:11:52.938> solution<00:11:53.483> for<00:11:53.659> that<00:11:53.900> kind<00:11:54.076> of<00:11:54.284> door-to-door<00:11:55.342> travel.
00:11:56.719 --> 00:12:06.476
So<00:11:57.264> the<00:11:57.344> investors<00:11:57.905> that<00:11:58.145> do<00:11:59.027> see<00:11:59.347> that<00:11:59.731> are<00:12:00.068> extremely<00:12:00.613> excited<00:12:00.949> about<00:12:01.125> it,<00:12:01.173> because<00:12:01.494> they<00:12:01.590> see<00:12:02.391> the<00:12:02.471> potential<00:12:03.016> for<00:12:03.176> mass<00:12:03.513> adoption,<00:12:04.073> they<00:12:04.169> see<00:12:04.394> this,<00:12:04.794> this<00:12:05.019> could<00:12:05.115> really<00:12:05.355> be<00:12:05.579> car<00:12:05.900> 2.0.
00:12:07.582 --> 00:12:36.394
And<00:12:09.104> that<00:12:09.264> personal<00:12:09.745> ownership<00:12:10.386> plus<00:12:11.283> sort<00:12:11.507> of<00:12:11.587> enhanced<00:12:12.565> sort<00:12:12.789> of<00:12:12.885> fleet<00:12:13.350> use,<00:12:14.006> you<00:12:14.087> know,<00:12:14.263> like<00:12:14.631> first<00:12:14.888> responders,<00:12:15.769> like<00:12:15.929> how<00:12:16.073> could<00:12:16.233> it<00:12:16.330> change,<00:12:17.291> you<00:12:17.387> know,<00:12:17.531> surgeons<00:12:17.996> getting<00:12:18.332> to<00:12:18.893> the<00:12:19.037> operating<00:12:19.534> room,<00:12:20.399> or<00:12:20.655> a<00:12:20.671> first<00:12:20.896> responder<00:12:21.296> at<00:12:21.392> a<00:12:21.456> fire<00:12:21.937> or<00:12:22.434> some<00:12:22.722> kind<00:12:22.882> of<00:12:22.978> other<00:12:23.203> emergency<00:12:23.699> or<00:12:23.924> tourism,<00:12:24.580> you<00:12:24.661> know,<00:12:25.446> How<00:12:25.622> can<00:12:25.798> this<00:12:26.648> open<00:12:26.969> up<00:12:27.065> possibilities<00:12:27.706> where<00:12:27.866> you<00:12:28.011> can<00:12:28.171> take<00:12:28.411> off<00:12:28.524> and<00:12:28.668> land<00:12:28.908> an<00:12:29.053> aircraft<00:12:29.614> and<00:12:29.694> you<00:12:29.790> could<00:12:29.950> get<00:12:30.111> to<00:12:30.335> places<00:12:31.136> that<00:12:31.778> never<00:12:32.034> before<00:12:32.355> have<00:12:32.515> been<00:12:32.916> accessible<00:12:33.477> by<00:12:33.717> car,<00:12:34.615> or<00:12:34.759> foot<00:12:35.304> or,<00:12:35.705> or<00:12:36.042> aircraft.
00:12:36.443 --> 00:12:39.136
So<00:12:36.907> it<00:12:36.988> really<00:12:37.308> opens<00:12:37.645> up<00:12:37.805> all<00:12:37.885> sorts<00:12:38.222> of<00:12:38.350> possibilities.
00:12:40.194 --> 00:12:42.919
And<00:12:40.450> the<00:12:40.787> investors<00:12:41.252> that<00:12:41.476> do<00:12:41.652> get<00:12:41.877> it<00:12:42.037> are<00:12:42.133> excited.
00:12:43.320 --> 00:12:49.155
And<00:12:43.833> some<00:12:44.041> of<00:12:44.121> our<00:12:44.297> investors<00:12:44.842> come<00:12:45.019> and<00:12:45.163> turn<00:12:45.420> wrenches,<00:12:46.125> because<00:12:46.542> they're<00:12:46.942> really<00:12:47.247> hands-on<00:12:47.728> and<00:12:47.824> really<00:12:48.049> excited<00:12:48.401> about<00:12:48.626> the<00:12:48.786> vision.
00:12:49.748 --> 00:12:51.399
We<00:12:49.892> love<00:12:50.293> all<00:12:50.613> of<00:12:50.726> our<00:12:50.854> investors.
00:12:51.479 --> 00:12:54.617
They're<00:12:51.720> They're<00:12:51.784> just,<00:12:52.379> they<00:12:52.476> really<00:12:53.522> share<00:12:53.844> the<00:12:53.925> vision<00:12:54.246> with<00:12:54.488> us.
00:12:55.293 --> 00:12:56.403
So<00:12:55.437> it's<00:12:56.081> been<00:12:56.242> awesome.
00:12:56.484 --> 00:12:58.399
How<00:12:56.661> often<00:12:56.902> are<00:12:57.047> you<00:12:57.208> asked<00:12:57.691> this<00:12:57.932> question?
00:12:58.920 --> 00:13:02.873
Why<00:12:59.113> isn't<00:12:59.581> Elon<00:12:59.920> doing<00:13:02.567> this?
00:13:03.148 --> 00:13:03.987
Not<00:13:03.374> that<00:13:03.616> often.
00:13:04.116 --> 00:13:08.737
He's<00:13:06.764> busy<00:13:07.087> right<00:13:08.640> now.
00:13:09.998 --> 00:13:11.226
He<00:13:10.402> is<00:13:10.580> busy<00:13:10.887> right<00:13:11.065> now.
00:13:11.453 --> 00:13:12.326
That's<00:13:11.711> for<00:13:11.938> sure.
00:13:12.423 --> 00:13:16.095
He's<00:13:12.585> busy<00:13:13.490> doing<00:13:13.733> some<00:13:14.848> interesting<00:13:15.430> things<00:13:15.593> on<00:13:15.760> Twitter.
00:13:16.178 --> 00:13:18.759
But<00:13:18.517> He's—.
00:13:18.759 --> 00:13:28.286
He<00:13:18.936> has<00:13:19.178> said<00:13:19.564> that<00:13:19.806> he,<00:13:20.789> he,<00:13:21.273> I<00:13:21.434> believe,<00:13:21.660> has<00:13:21.821> a<00:13:21.902> preference<00:13:22.707> for,<00:13:24.803> like,<00:13:25.061> the<00:13:25.222> Boring<00:13:25.705> Company<00:13:26.189> stuff<00:13:26.656> and<00:13:26.753> like<00:13:27.076> going<00:13:27.383> underground.
00:13:28.997 --> 00:13:31.450
He<00:13:29.029> has<00:13:29.174> concerns<00:13:29.675> about<00:13:29.981> how<00:13:30.288> things<00:13:30.465> are<00:13:30.611> managed<00:13:31.030> in<00:13:31.111> the<00:13:31.337> air.
00:13:32.870 --> 00:13:34.549
But<00:13:33.128> we<00:13:33.290> think<00:13:33.516> all<00:13:33.613> those<00:13:33.839> things<00:13:34.016> are<00:13:34.113> addressable.
00:13:35.380 --> 00:13:42.860
And<00:13:35.718> you<00:13:36.879> know<00:13:37.185> that<00:13:37.508> it's<00:13:37.653> going<00:13:37.749> to<00:13:37.814> be<00:13:37.894> a<00:13:37.911> long<00:13:38.136> time<00:13:38.314> before<00:13:39.184> air<00:13:39.361> congestion<00:13:39.942> is<00:13:40.490> an<00:13:40.667> issue,<00:13:41.457> but<00:13:41.602> not<00:13:41.780> that<00:13:41.925> we<00:13:42.005> shouldn't<00:13:42.328> plan<00:13:42.570> for<00:13:42.731> that.
00:13:42.989 --> 00:13:43.742
But<00:13:43.630> that.
00:13:44.290 --> 00:13:46.047
Yeah,<00:13:44.806> it's<00:13:45.274> a<00:13:45.290> lot<00:13:45.516> bigger<00:13:45.757> up<00:13:45.983> there.
00:13:46.096 --> 00:13:48.546
So<00:13:47.127> Pete,<00:13:47.353> did<00:13:47.466> you<00:13:47.530> want<00:13:47.740> to<00:13:47.917> answer<00:13:48.240> that<00:13:48.401> one?
00:13:48.675 --> 00:13:49.497
It's<00:13:48.772> kind<00:13:49.046> of<00:13:49.142> a<00:13:49.223> fun—.
00:13:50.496 --> 00:13:54.079
Yeah,<00:13:50.754> Pete,<00:13:51.077> I'd<00:13:51.238> love<00:13:51.399> to<00:13:51.480> hear<00:13:51.625> your<00:13:51.802> feedback<00:13:52.350> on<00:13:52.447> why<00:13:52.624> Tesla<00:13:53.060> or<00:13:53.257> Elon<00:13:53.602> isn't<00:13:53.717> working<00:13:53.914> on<00:13:53.980> this.
00:13:54.292 --> 00:13:55.607
Yeah,<00:13:54.572> I'd<00:13:54.736> love<00:13:54.917> to<00:13:55.065> hear<00:13:55.229> Pete's.
00:13:56.980 --> 00:14:12.565
You<00:13:57.174> know,<00:13:57.416> it's<00:13:57.740> funny,<00:13:59.600> my<00:13:59.827> company<00:14:00.102> is<00:14:00.247> called<00:14:00.377> Electric<00:14:00.878> Jet,<00:14:01.768> and<00:14:02.658> there's<00:14:02.836> a<00:14:02.981> line<00:14:03.564> in<00:14:03.725> Iron<00:14:03.968> Man<00:14:04.227> 2<00:14:04.761> when<00:14:05.408> there's<00:14:05.893> a<00:14:05.909> little<00:14:06.120> cameo<00:14:07.450> of<00:14:07.713> Elon<00:14:08.025> Musk<00:14:09.167> in<00:14:09.425> Monte<00:14:09.666> Carlo<00:14:11.116> talking<00:14:11.599> to<00:14:11.744> Pepper<00:14:12.082> Potts.
00:14:14.901 --> 00:14:21.030
And<00:14:15.690> he<00:14:15.786> talks<00:14:16.173> to<00:14:16.270> Tony<00:14:16.721> and<00:14:16.817> he<00:14:16.914> says,<00:14:17.719> hey,<00:14:17.864> I've<00:14:17.961> got<00:14:18.138> an<00:14:18.784> idea<00:14:19.414> for<00:14:20.142> an<00:14:20.303> electric<00:14:20.772> jet.
00:14:21.353 --> 00:14:24.100
And<00:14:21.596> Tony<00:14:21.919> says,<00:14:23.050> well,<00:14:23.276> we'll<00:14:23.389> make<00:14:23.599> that<00:14:23.842> work.
00:14:24.950 --> 00:14:27.364
And<00:14:26.028> I've<00:14:26.173> always<00:14:26.656> found<00:14:26.817> that<00:14:26.994> interesting.
00:14:27.461 --> 00:14:36.501
Like<00:14:27.702> he's<00:14:27.879> got<00:14:28.121> this<00:14:28.346> idea<00:14:29.006> for<00:14:29.489> more<00:14:29.650> like<00:14:29.827> an<00:14:29.972> electric,<00:14:31.083> like<00:14:31.244> a<00:14:31.405> corporate<00:14:31.823> jet,<00:14:32.145> like<00:14:32.322> a,<00:14:32.628> you<00:14:32.708> know,<00:14:33.191> an<00:14:33.288> airliner<00:14:33.835> kind<00:14:33.916> of<00:14:34.077> jet,<00:14:34.415> not<00:14:35.565> not<00:14:35.727> what<00:14:35.953> we're<00:14:36.130> doing.
00:14:37.744 --> 00:14:52.976
But<00:14:38.535> I<00:14:38.939> personally<00:14:39.536> see<00:14:39.923> what<00:14:40.165> we're<00:14:40.407> doing<00:14:41.118> as<00:14:41.634> something<00:14:42.328> that<00:14:43.716> an<00:14:43.942> automotive<00:14:44.362> company,<00:14:44.828> and<00:14:44.924> whether<00:14:45.165> it's<00:14:45.326> Tesla<00:14:45.728> or<00:14:46.065> somebody<00:14:46.596> else,<00:14:48.138> would<00:14:48.363> find<00:14:48.685> very<00:14:48.942> interesting<00:14:49.569> as<00:14:50.147> an<00:14:50.292> acquisition<00:14:50.871> target,<00:14:51.353> you<00:14:51.433> know,<00:14:51.835> at<00:14:51.915> some<00:14:52.237> point<00:14:52.462> when<00:14:52.622> we're<00:14:52.783> ready.
00:14:55.158 --> 00:14:58.214
I<00:14:55.240> think<00:14:55.470> that's<00:14:55.667> a<00:14:55.881> definite<00:14:56.374> possibility<00:14:57.130> as<00:14:57.294> an<00:14:57.376> exit<00:14:57.639> strategy.
00:15:00.338 --> 00:15:02.908
And<00:15:00.436> I<00:15:00.501> think<00:15:00.647> Elon<00:15:00.972> may<00:15:01.135> be<00:15:01.233> just<00:15:01.460> sitting<00:15:01.639> back<00:15:01.948> to<00:15:02.030> see<00:15:02.290> which<00:15:02.518> one<00:15:02.762> wins.
00:15:03.150 --> 00:15:08.079
Which<00:15:03.342> design<00:15:03.984> idea<00:15:04.530> wins,<00:15:05.670> and<00:15:05.751> then<00:15:05.975> just<00:15:06.184> swoop<00:15:06.393> in<00:15:06.537> and<00:15:06.634> acquire<00:15:06.971> it,<00:15:07.196> just<00:15:07.356> like<00:15:07.501> he<00:15:07.597> did<00:15:07.758> Twitter.
00:15:08.223 --> 00:15:12.125
You<00:15:08.320> know,<00:15:08.641> it's<00:15:08.882> sort<00:15:09.123> of<00:15:09.203> the<00:15:09.347> idea—<00:15:09.604> well,<00:15:11.049> hopefully<00:15:11.354> better<00:15:11.595> than<00:15:11.932> Twitter.
00:15:12.173 --> 00:15:14.774
I<00:15:12.254> mean,<00:15:13.137> we're<00:15:13.297> more<00:15:13.522> of<00:15:13.699> a<00:15:13.923> value.
00:15:15.385 --> 00:15:24.425
But,<00:15:16.187> you<00:15:16.252> know,<00:15:16.428> at<00:15:16.509> that<00:15:16.749> point,<00:15:17.231> I<00:15:17.376> think<00:15:17.697> we're<00:15:17.873> going<00:15:17.986> to<00:15:18.114> be<00:15:18.275> in<00:15:18.371> a<00:15:18.435> position<00:15:19.158> to,<00:15:19.383> you<00:15:20.828> know,<00:15:21.085> maybe<00:15:21.342> scale<00:15:22.128> through<00:15:22.674> partnership<00:15:23.236> with<00:15:23.333> a<00:15:23.349> larger<00:15:24.055> company.
00:15:24.537 --> 00:15:34.411
So,<00:15:25.645> um,<00:15:27.106> it<00:15:27.347> may<00:15:27.507> not<00:15:27.748> be—<00:15:28.053> why<00:15:28.294> isn't<00:15:28.792> Elon<00:15:29.113> doing<00:15:29.370> this,<00:15:29.691> it's<00:15:30.718> when,<00:15:31.104> when<00:15:31.361> might<00:15:31.618> Elon<00:15:31.923> do<00:15:32.147> this,<00:15:32.468> you<00:15:32.501> know,<00:15:32.790> kind<00:15:32.854> of<00:15:33.030> thing,<00:15:33.994> right?
00:15:35.358 --> 00:15:41.074
It's,<00:15:36.177> it's<00:15:36.322> interesting<00:15:36.819> too<00:15:37.060> that<00:15:37.381> Elon<00:15:37.574> didn't<00:15:37.927> invent<00:15:38.329> rockets<00:15:39.308> and<00:15:39.533> Elon<00:15:39.790> didn't<00:15:40.014> invent<00:15:40.352> the<00:15:40.432> electric<00:15:40.833> car.
00:15:41.379 --> 00:15:45.264
He<00:15:41.636> invented<00:15:42.118> nothing<00:15:42.599> in<00:15:42.744> terms<00:15:43.017> of<00:15:44.044> the<00:15:44.269> core<00:15:44.526> technologies.
00:15:45.730 --> 00:15:58.777
What<00:15:45.858> he<00:15:46.067> did,<00:15:47.159> and<00:15:47.207> I'm<00:15:47.319> sure<00:15:47.496> they've<00:15:47.657> got<00:15:47.817> lots<00:15:48.058> of<00:15:48.138> patents<00:15:48.540> and<00:15:48.620> inventions<00:15:49.423> around<00:15:50.306> the<00:15:50.450> idea<00:15:51.092> of<00:15:52.072> manufacturing,<00:15:53.517> around<00:15:53.741> the<00:15:53.838> idea<00:15:54.480> of<00:15:55.282> low<00:15:55.523> costing<00:15:56.244> something,<00:15:56.805> getting<00:15:57.061> something<00:15:57.446> to<00:15:57.590> where<00:15:57.831> you<00:15:57.927> can<00:15:58.167> produce<00:15:58.729> it.
00:15:59.754 --> 00:16:07.449
And<00:15:59.835> that's<00:16:00.075> really<00:16:00.331> the<00:16:00.492> advantage<00:16:01.438> of<00:16:01.630> somebody<00:16:01.934> like<00:16:02.239> what<00:16:02.479> Elon<00:16:02.736> Musk—<00:16:02.976> I<00:16:02.992> mean,<00:16:03.217> a<00:16:03.281> lot<00:16:03.393> of<00:16:03.457> people<00:16:04.804> credit<00:16:05.204> him<00:16:05.461> with<00:16:05.701> things<00:16:06.006> that<00:16:06.182> aren't<00:16:06.343> actually<00:16:06.727> true<00:16:06.984> about<00:16:07.288> him.
00:16:08.250 --> 00:16:19.936
Um,<00:16:09.228> he<00:16:09.308> didn't<00:16:09.565> invent<00:16:10.590> the<00:16:10.671> stuff<00:16:10.991> that<00:16:11.360> he's<00:16:11.648> doing<00:16:12.418> at<00:16:12.498> its,<00:16:12.899> at<00:16:12.931> its<00:16:13.139> root,<00:16:13.476> but<00:16:13.796> what<00:16:13.941> he<00:16:14.117> did<00:16:14.357> was<00:16:14.582> he<00:16:14.614> made—<00:16:15.479> he<00:16:15.544> invented<00:16:16.105> the<00:16:16.281> ways<00:16:16.682> in<00:16:16.826> which<00:16:17.002> it's<00:16:17.227> possible<00:16:17.659> to<00:16:17.788> become<00:16:19.086> mass<00:16:19.423> adopted.
00:16:22.132 --> 00:16:24.505
And<00:16:22.213> I<00:16:22.294> think<00:16:22.455> that's,<00:16:23.746> that's<00:16:23.972> critical<00:16:24.376> here.
00:16:25.425 --> 00:16:28.071
Um,<00:16:25.683> will<00:16:25.925> there<00:16:26.151> be<00:16:26.716> millions<00:16:27.216> of<00:16:27.361> flying<00:16:27.684> cars?
00:16:28.200 --> 00:16:40.392
It,<00:16:28.426> it'll<00:16:28.846> take<00:16:29.072> a<00:16:29.152> long<00:16:29.411> time,<00:16:30.201> you<00:16:30.282> know,<00:16:31.477> to<00:16:31.719> where<00:16:32.140> you<00:16:32.286> have<00:16:33.192> the<00:16:33.273> numbers<00:16:34.163> of<00:16:34.552> automotive<00:16:35.021> production<00:16:37.692> like<00:16:37.933> you<00:16:38.078> have<00:16:38.399> for<00:16:38.576> ground<00:16:38.881> vehicles<00:16:39.460> in<00:16:39.701> air<00:16:39.942> vehicles.
00:16:40.584 --> 00:16:42.770
I<00:16:40.665> just—<00:16:41.693> that's<00:16:41.934> a<00:16:42.015> long<00:16:42.272> ways<00:16:42.577> off.
00:16:42.834 --> 00:16:45.807
There's<00:16:43.075> an<00:16:43.220> inherent<00:16:44.184> fear<00:16:44.361> of<00:16:44.505> flying<00:16:45.003> for<00:16:45.084> a<00:16:45.164> lot<00:16:45.341> of<00:16:45.405> people.
00:16:46.144 --> 00:16:47.477
A<00:16:46.209> lot<00:16:46.353> of<00:16:46.434> people<00:16:46.675> will<00:16:46.900> never<00:16:47.267> fly.
00:16:48.760 --> 00:17:01.106
So<00:16:49.825> there's<00:16:51.906> going<00:16:54.989> to<00:16:55.069> be<00:16:55.553> a<00:16:55.569> natural<00:16:57.570> sort<00:16:57.732> of<00:16:58.319> ceiling<00:16:58.954> for<00:16:59.117> how<00:16:59.443> big<00:16:59.688> this<00:17:00.160> industry<00:17:00.584> can<00:17:00.829> get.
00:17:03.456 --> 00:17:06.676
The<00:17:03.601> question<00:17:04.019> is,<00:17:04.196> is<00:17:04.325> that<00:17:04.502> interesting<00:17:04.969> enough<00:17:05.323> to<00:17:05.468> somebody<00:17:05.774> like<00:17:05.951> Elon<00:17:06.418> Musk?
00:17:06.901 --> 00:17:19.506
And<00:17:07.786> can<00:17:07.947> we<00:17:08.189> use<00:17:08.913> that<00:17:09.235> level<00:17:10.298> eventually<00:17:11.087> of<00:17:11.344> production<00:17:11.908> capability<00:17:12.620> where<00:17:12.804> we're<00:17:12.971> producing<00:17:14.334> hundreds<00:17:14.719> of<00:17:14.816> thousands<00:17:15.314> of<00:17:15.394> something,<00:17:16.727> uh,<00:17:17.145> versus,<00:17:17.707> you<00:17:17.803> know,<00:17:18.349> a<00:17:18.414> couple<00:17:18.735> thousand<00:17:19.072> of<00:17:19.168> something.
00:17:20.341 --> 00:17:29.769
Um,<00:17:20.518> keep<00:17:20.759> in<00:17:20.839> mind<00:17:21.305> that,<00:17:21.626> you<00:17:21.658> know,<00:17:22.188> aviation—<00:17:23.730> the<00:17:23.875> largest<00:17:24.373> manufacturer<00:17:25.320> of<00:17:25.497> just<00:17:25.674> sheer<00:17:25.979> numbers<00:17:26.364> of<00:17:26.461> aircraft<00:17:27.103> are<00:17:27.810> somewhere<00:17:28.051> between<00:17:28.468> Boeing<00:17:28.806> and<00:17:28.886> Cirrus<00:17:29.352> Aircraft.
00:17:29.818 --> 00:17:32.966
Cirrus<00:17:30.075> makes<00:17:30.348> single-engine<00:17:30.797> planes<00:17:31.360> and<00:17:31.858> some<00:17:32.018> small<00:17:32.323> light<00:17:32.548> jets.
00:17:33.608 --> 00:17:35.311
Boeing<00:17:33.994> obviously<00:17:34.331> makes<00:17:34.572> big<00:17:34.813> airliners.
00:17:36.259 --> 00:17:39.471
Neither<00:17:36.660> of<00:17:36.740> them<00:17:36.901> make<00:17:37.447> any<00:17:37.624> more<00:17:37.784> than<00:17:37.945> 400<00:17:38.475> or<00:17:38.507> 500<00:17:38.893> units<00:17:39.230> a<00:17:39.375> year.
00:17:40.090 --> 00:17:42.435
That's<00:17:40.640> their<00:17:40.760> production<00:17:41.060> line.
00:17:43.020 --> 00:17:50.040
And<00:17:43.060> then<00:17:43.200> you<00:17:43.320> go<00:17:43.440> to<00:17:43.659> automotive,<00:17:44.340> and<00:17:44.480> on<00:17:44.600> the<00:17:44.780> low<00:17:45.140> end<00:17:45.440> you've<00:17:45.800> got<00:17:45.920> Lamborghini<00:17:46.480> and<00:17:46.780> Ferrari<00:17:47.160> that<00:17:47.380> make<00:17:47.560> between<00:17:47.860> 8,000<00:17:48.120> and<00:17:48.121> 10,000<00:17:48.740> units<00:17:49.020> a<00:17:49.340> year.
00:17:50.740 --> 00:17:56.660
So<00:17:51.140> somewhere<00:17:51.400> between<00:17:51.760> 500<00:17:52.340> and<00:17:52.560> 10,000,<00:17:53.800> there's<00:17:54.140> this<00:17:54.340> gap,<00:17:55.080> and<00:17:55.480> that's<00:17:55.679> where<00:17:55.800> we<00:17:56.000> kind<00:17:56.160> of<00:17:56.220> want<00:17:56.360> to<00:17:56.540> be.
00:17:56.660 --> 00:18:04.960
We<00:17:56.800> want<00:17:56.920> to<00:17:57.000> be<00:17:57.100> in<00:17:57.200> that<00:17:57.420> 2,000<00:17:57.860> to<00:17:57.861> 5,000,<00:17:58.300> maybe<00:17:58.580> 6,000,<00:17:59.040> 7,000,<00:17:59.400> 8,000<00:17:59.900> eventually,<00:18:01.120> um,<00:18:01.600> where<00:18:01.660> we're<00:18:01.820> at<00:18:01.960> the<00:18:02.080> low<00:18:02.360> end<00:18:02.540> of<00:18:02.720> automotive<00:18:03.120> but<00:18:03.380> definitely<00:18:03.800> the<00:18:04.000> high<00:18:04.200> end<00:18:04.360> of<00:18:04.560> aviation.
00:18:06.128 --> 00:18:06.644
Production.
00:18:06.821 --> 00:18:16.428
But<00:18:06.918> that's<00:18:07.159> still—<00:18:07.546> if<00:18:07.643> you<00:18:07.788> took—<00:18:08.126> if<00:18:08.271> you<00:18:08.352> sold<00:18:08.771> 10,000<00:18:09.658> aircraft<00:18:10.206> a<00:18:10.367> year<00:18:11.028> and<00:18:11.173> distributed<00:18:11.753> them<00:18:11.914> around<00:18:12.236> the<00:18:12.398> world,<00:18:13.268> the<00:18:13.365> likelihood<00:18:13.929> that<00:18:14.090> two<00:18:14.251> of<00:18:14.332> them<00:18:14.493> would<00:18:14.638> ever<00:18:14.799> even<00:18:14.993> see<00:18:15.299> each<00:18:15.460> other<00:18:15.782> is<00:18:15.928> really<00:18:16.121> small.
00:18:17.557 --> 00:18:28.374
So<00:18:18.687> the,<00:18:19.235> the<00:18:19.316> potential<00:18:20.139> for<00:18:20.688> this<00:18:20.930> market<00:18:22.221> is<00:18:23.269> massive,<00:18:24.560> even<00:18:24.964> with<00:18:25.190> the<00:18:25.384> inherent<00:18:25.804> ceiling<00:18:26.354> of<00:18:26.499> the<00:18:26.661> fact<00:18:26.839> that<00:18:27.000> not<00:18:27.162> everyone<00:18:27.712> will<00:18:27.809> want<00:18:28.051> to<00:18:28.116> fly.
00:18:30.867 --> 00:18:36.088
Yeah,<00:18:31.139> I<00:18:31.292> wonder<00:18:32.087> How<00:18:32.247> far<00:18:32.504> away<00:18:32.810> are<00:18:32.906> we<00:18:33.067> from<00:18:33.308> like<00:18:33.549> 10,000<00:18:34.449> people<00:18:35.075> that,<00:18:35.316> that<00:18:35.541> exact<00:18:35.943> thing?
00:18:36.200 --> 00:18:41.402
How<00:18:36.361> far<00:18:36.602> away<00:18:36.843> are<00:18:37.004> we<00:18:37.148> from<00:18:37.405> 10,000<00:18:37.952> of<00:18:37.984> these<00:18:38.209> distributed<00:18:38.611> around<00:18:38.868> the<00:18:38.996> world<00:18:39.269> and<00:18:39.398> they're<00:18:39.575> working<00:18:40.121> and,<00:18:40.860> and<00:18:41.005> all<00:18:41.150> of<00:18:41.258> that?
00:18:43.284 --> 00:18:45.380
If<00:18:43.433> we<00:18:43.515> have<00:18:43.664> our<00:18:43.928> way,<00:18:44.010> probably<00:18:44.753> 8<00:18:44.835> to<00:18:44.918> 10<00:18:45.231> years.
00:18:47.264 --> 00:18:48.419
That's<00:18:47.448> not<00:18:47.616> that<00:18:47.783> far<00:18:48.118> off.
00:18:50.030 --> 00:18:53.821
No,<00:18:50.449> we<00:18:50.643> intend<00:18:50.885> to<00:18:51.110> deliver<00:18:51.740> the<00:18:51.836> first<00:18:52.078> 100<00:18:52.482> units<00:18:52.885> in<00:18:53.046> 2025.
00:18:54.643 --> 00:18:55.047
That's<00:18:54.805> our<00:18:54.901> goal.
00:18:55.466 --> 00:19:00.661
And<00:18:56.821> we<00:18:56.918> intend<00:18:57.321> to<00:18:57.466> get<00:18:57.660> to<00:18:58.047> production<00:18:58.499> of<00:18:58.547> about<00:18:58.773> 2,000<00:18:59.628> units<00:18:59.892> by<00:19:00.063> 2028.
00:19:02.812 --> 00:19:03.137
Per<00:19:02.975> year.
00:19:05.813 --> 00:19:10.014
What,<00:19:06.802> what<00:19:07.046> is<00:19:07.273> driving<00:19:07.857> the<00:19:08.019> two<00:19:08.262> of<00:19:08.408> you<00:19:08.505> to<00:19:08.668> take<00:19:09.057> this<00:19:09.300> big<00:19:09.479> of<00:19:09.576> a<00:19:09.641> swing?
00:19:10.956 --> 00:19:12.876
Because<00:19:11.521> this<00:19:11.698> is<00:19:11.860> a<00:19:11.892> massive<00:19:12.505> swing.
00:19:13.795 --> 00:19:15.892
It's<00:19:14.102> the<00:19:14.166> massive<00:19:14.666> opportunity,<00:19:15.312> I<00:19:15.408> would<00:19:15.570> say.
00:19:16.360 --> 00:19:17.877
And<00:19:17.086> we<00:19:17.183> have<00:19:17.360> a<00:19:17.489> vision.
00:19:19.199 --> 00:19:21.235
We<00:19:20.070> have<00:19:20.312> a<00:19:20.409> path<00:19:20.700> to<00:19:20.813> get<00:19:21.121> there.
00:19:22.176 --> 00:19:23.782
And<00:19:22.273> we<00:19:22.371> don't<00:19:22.501> want<00:19:22.647> to<00:19:22.679> watch<00:19:22.857> someone<00:19:23.231> else<00:19:23.490> do<00:19:23.653> it.
00:19:24.220 --> 00:19:29.176
We<00:19:24.383> feel<00:19:24.626> like<00:19:25.421> as<00:19:25.583> much<00:19:25.778> as<00:19:25.924> people<00:19:26.249> go,<00:19:27.931> that<00:19:28.093> sounds<00:19:28.351> too<00:19:28.513> good<00:19:28.675> to<00:19:28.756> be<00:19:28.901> true.
00:19:29.403 --> 00:19:32.929
I<00:19:29.484> think<00:19:29.710> people<00:19:30.034> also<00:19:30.357> hold<00:19:30.761> the<00:19:31.247> other<00:19:31.424> thought<00:19:31.683> in<00:19:31.764> their<00:19:31.894> mind<00:19:32.217> that<00:19:32.314> this<00:19:32.492> is<00:19:32.638> inevitable.
00:19:34.390 --> 00:19:48.177
And<00:19:35.219> that,<00:19:35.495> you<00:19:35.739> know,<00:19:36.031> that<00:19:36.681> vision<00:19:37.169> of<00:19:37.413> the<00:19:37.576> Jetsons<00:19:38.323> that<00:19:39.217> people<00:19:39.364> have<00:19:39.526> dreamed<00:19:39.933> of<00:19:40.274> the<00:19:40.924> '50s<00:19:41.493> and<00:19:41.656> before<00:19:42.369> is<00:19:42.531> really<00:19:44.958> a<00:19:45.038> cultural<00:19:45.605> dream<00:19:46.009> that<00:19:46.171> we<00:19:46.268> have<00:19:46.430> that<00:19:46.608> sort<00:19:46.834> of<00:19:46.915> like,<00:19:47.238> someone's<00:19:47.643> gonna<00:19:47.886> do<00:19:48.112> it.
00:19:48.856 --> 00:20:00.706
And,<00:19:49.164> you<00:19:49.261> know,<00:19:49.503> sort<00:19:49.681> of<00:19:49.811> like<00:19:50.458> all<00:19:50.555> the<00:19:50.700> predictions<00:19:51.202> of<00:19:51.773> submarines<00:19:52.328> and<00:19:52.508> submarines<00:19:53.063> and<00:19:53.145> rockets<00:19:53.732> and<00:19:54.124> AI<00:19:54.467> and<00:19:54.614> all<00:19:54.695> this<00:19:54.793> stuff,<00:19:55.136> it's<00:19:55.283> all<00:19:55.446> happening<00:19:55.919> because<00:19:56.180> the<00:19:56.250> dream<00:19:56.522> had<00:19:56.746> to<00:19:56.843> precede<00:19:58.686> the<00:19:58.766> physical<00:19:59.808> manifestation<00:20:00.513> of<00:20:00.625> it.
00:20:00.754 --> 00:20:05.354
So<00:20:01.972> we<00:20:02.068> just<00:20:02.292> don't—<00:20:03.719> we<00:20:03.976> want<00:20:04.456> to<00:20:04.520> have<00:20:04.633> fun<00:20:04.937> and<00:20:05.098> do<00:20:05.242> this.
00:20:05.482 --> 00:20:06.460
We<00:20:05.659> love<00:20:05.963> this<00:20:06.204> work.
00:20:06.765 --> 00:20:12.214
We<00:20:07.085> absolutely<00:20:07.502> love<00:20:09.169> trailblazing<00:20:09.906> and<00:20:11.493> creating<00:20:12.054> this.
00:20:12.295 --> 00:20:13.240
It's<00:20:12.455> just<00:20:12.631> been<00:20:12.775> a<00:20:12.872> blast.
00:20:13.353 --> 00:20:16.077
And<00:20:13.433> by<00:20:13.657> the<00:20:13.833> way,<00:20:14.779> Pete,<00:20:14.955> thanks<00:20:15.196> for<00:20:15.308> the<00:20:15.420> kind<00:20:15.757> words.
00:20:16.398 --> 00:20:20.950
And<00:20:16.478> I<00:20:16.622> think<00:20:16.783> it<00:20:16.879> shows<00:20:17.119> how<00:20:17.280> in<00:20:17.360> sync<00:20:17.664> we<00:20:17.761> are<00:20:17.905> that<00:20:18.001> we<00:20:18.225> both<00:20:18.482> have<00:20:18.706> Christmas<00:20:19.203> trees<00:20:19.524> of<00:20:19.604> some<00:20:19.908> sort<00:20:20.309> in<00:20:20.389> the<00:20:20.469> left-hand<00:20:20.838> corner.
00:20:21.046 --> 00:20:23.707
I<00:20:21.063> know,<00:20:21.111> you're<00:20:21.383> both<00:20:21.607> very,<00:20:22.649> very<00:20:23.050> festive.
00:20:24.159 --> 00:20:25.358
We're<00:20:24.338> very<00:20:24.564> festive.
00:20:26.021 --> 00:20:27.430
You're<00:20:26.442> very<00:20:26.750> festive<00:20:27.252> today.
00:20:28.207 --> 00:20:32.077
Hey,<00:20:29.988> how<00:20:30.231> long<00:20:30.474> until<00:20:30.733> these<00:20:30.960> things<00:20:31.202> just<00:20:31.380> drive<00:20:31.704> themselves?
00:20:34.640 --> 00:20:35.530
Or<00:20:34.672> fly<00:20:34.898> them<00:20:35.077> longer?
00:20:35.821 --> 00:20:38.945
I<00:20:35.886> should<00:20:36.064> say<00:20:36.679> longer<00:20:37.100> in<00:20:37.181> the<00:20:37.326> US<00:20:37.747> is<00:20:37.909> going<00:20:38.071> to<00:20:38.136> take<00:20:38.314> a<00:20:38.378> while<00:20:38.621> longer.
00:20:40.172 --> 00:20:45.139
You<00:20:40.252> already<00:20:40.413> see<00:20:40.654> demos<00:20:41.056> happening<00:20:41.458> in<00:20:41.602> other<00:20:41.763> countries<00:20:43.210> of<00:20:43.451> fully<00:20:43.772> autonomous<00:20:44.753> vehicles.
00:20:45.219 --> 00:20:48.675
But<00:20:45.476> we<00:20:45.621> have<00:20:45.814> a—<00:20:46.023> we've<00:20:46.184> chosen<00:20:46.393> to<00:20:46.585> have<00:20:46.698> a<00:20:46.762> human<00:20:47.084> pilot<00:20:47.550> on<00:20:47.646> board<00:20:47.968> and<00:20:48.048> to<00:20:48.129> go<00:20:48.225> semi-autonomous.
00:20:49.857 --> 00:21:04.330
At<00:20:49.954> first<00:20:51.383> and<00:20:52.347> wait<00:20:52.604> for<00:20:53.246> the<00:20:53.873> technology<00:20:54.515> to<00:20:54.612> mature<00:20:55.270> and<00:20:55.415> for<00:20:55.961> culture<00:20:57.262> to<00:20:57.519> acculturate,<00:20:58.145> to<00:20:58.242> get<00:20:58.467> comfortable<00:20:59.013> with<00:20:59.832> the<00:20:59.896> idea<00:21:00.218> of<00:21:00.378> having<00:21:00.635> a<00:21:00.699> fully<00:21:00.973> autonomous<00:21:02.065> object<00:21:02.402> you<00:21:02.482> get<00:21:02.707> into<00:21:02.964> and<00:21:03.045> it<00:21:03.125> whisks<00:21:03.510> you<00:21:03.671> off<00:21:03.864> somewhere.
00:21:05.309 --> 00:21:06.980
So<00:21:06.016> I<00:21:06.097> imagine<00:21:06.514> the<00:21:06.578> number<00:21:06.884> of—.
00:21:07.125 --> 00:21:16.392
We<00:21:07.542> want<00:21:07.687> to<00:21:07.767> get<00:21:07.928> in<00:21:08.024> the<00:21:08.185> game<00:21:08.891> and<00:21:08.972> we<00:21:09.068> can<00:21:09.293> use—<00:21:09.486> I<00:21:09.598> was<00:21:09.662> just<00:21:09.791> going<00:21:09.903> to<00:21:09.952> say<00:21:10.193> that<00:21:10.980> one,<00:21:11.108> to<00:21:11.237> get<00:21:11.397> in<00:21:11.478> the<00:21:11.558> game<00:21:11.863> sooner<00:21:12.200> before<00:21:12.602> that's,<00:21:13.084> that's<00:21:13.389> ready<00:21:13.951> and<00:21:14.545> sort<00:21:14.770> of<00:21:15.172> transition<00:21:15.814> into<00:21:16.135> that.
00:21:16.456 --> 00:21:20.598
And<00:21:17.098> we<00:21:17.259> can—<00:21:17.564> we'll<00:21:17.676> be<00:21:17.740> able<00:21:17.853> to<00:21:17.965> use<00:21:18.142> the<00:21:18.222> same<00:21:18.543> vehicle<00:21:18.944> and<00:21:19.105> have<00:21:19.281> it<00:21:19.586> be<00:21:19.811> fully<00:21:20.084> autonomous.
00:21:21.015 --> 00:21:21.095
No.
00:21:21.834 --> 00:21:31.031
So<00:21:23.102> yeah,<00:21:23.342> I<00:21:23.439> imagine<00:21:23.776> the<00:21:23.920> biggest<00:21:24.241> barrier<00:21:24.578> running<00:21:24.964> into<00:21:25.204> with<00:21:25.365> investors<00:21:25.927> and<00:21:26.007> then,<00:21:26.713> you<00:21:26.745> know,<00:21:27.452> future<00:21:27.933> and<00:21:28.014> potential<00:21:28.415> customers<00:21:29.763> is<00:21:29.940> safety,<00:21:30.823> right?
00:21:31.128 --> 00:21:33.584
I'm<00:21:31.385> sure<00:21:31.465> you're<00:21:31.690> getting<00:21:31.930> tons<00:21:32.267> of<00:21:32.364> safety<00:21:32.990> questions.
00:21:33.632 --> 00:21:35.783
And<00:21:34.499> how<00:21:34.739> safe<00:21:35.221> is<00:21:35.462> this?
00:21:36.264 --> 00:21:38.271
Is<00:21:36.441> it<00:21:36.537> safer<00:21:37.228> compared<00:21:37.629> to<00:21:37.709> an<00:21:37.789> automobile?
00:21:38.351 --> 00:21:39.635
Is<00:21:38.448> it<00:21:38.833> less<00:21:39.025> safe?
00:21:39.972 --> 00:21:46.369
How<00:21:40.069> do<00:21:40.197> you<00:21:40.358> answer<00:21:40.615> those<00:21:41.016> questions<00:21:41.481> just<00:21:41.754> around<00:21:42.284> like<00:21:43.105> Hey,<00:21:43.412> I<00:21:44.074> want<00:21:44.236> to<00:21:44.398> live<00:21:45.448> past<00:21:45.771> this<00:21:46.078> flight.
00:21:47.936 --> 00:21:48.211
Yeah.
00:21:49.310 --> 00:21:51.782
Well,<00:21:49.988> safety<00:21:50.360> is<00:21:50.538> an<00:21:50.602> area<00:21:50.925> where<00:21:51.103> we<00:21:51.249> really<00:21:51.507> shine.
00:21:53.190 --> 00:22:02.486
We,<00:21:53.544> as<00:21:53.689> I<00:21:53.721> said,<00:21:54.124> I<00:21:54.188> don't<00:21:54.414> know<00:21:54.575> if<00:21:54.672> actually<00:21:54.913> I<00:21:54.930> said<00:21:55.155> it<00:21:55.461> before<00:21:56.041> we<00:21:56.138> started<00:21:56.363> recording,<00:21:56.927> but<00:21:57.636> our<00:21:57.733> vehicle<00:21:58.055> really<00:21:58.442> is<00:21:59.280> safer<00:21:59.731> than<00:22:00.069> a<00:22:00.150> conventional<00:22:00.633> airplane<00:22:01.181> and<00:22:01.277> safer<00:22:01.616> than<00:22:01.777> a<00:22:01.890> helicopter.
00:22:03.533 --> 00:22:08.414
It<00:22:03.678> doesn't<00:22:04.564> use<00:22:06.255> rotors<00:22:06.658> on<00:22:06.754> top<00:22:07.399> the<00:22:07.479> way<00:22:07.544> a<00:22:07.640> helicopter<00:22:08.285> does.
00:22:08.688 --> 00:22:10.588
So<00:22:08.833> it's<00:22:08.913> safer<00:22:09.251> to<00:22:09.557> be<00:22:09.719> around<00:22:10.121> for<00:22:10.298> one.
00:22:11.263 --> 00:22:17.941
It's<00:22:11.359> safer<00:22:11.745> to<00:22:12.290> stand<00:22:13.109> next<00:22:13.366> to<00:22:13.511> because<00:22:14.072> we're<00:22:14.233> using<00:22:14.715> what<00:22:15.260> Pete<00:22:15.437> has<00:22:15.662> innovated,<00:22:16.079> this<00:22:16.320> clustered<00:22:16.802> electric<00:22:17.267> jet<00:22:17.460> system.
00:22:18.712 --> 00:22:20.590
It's<00:22:19.354> internal<00:22:19.932> to<00:22:20.093> the<00:22:20.237> vehicle.
00:22:20.671 --> 00:22:22.067
It's<00:22:20.976> embedded<00:22:21.377> in<00:22:21.522> the<00:22:21.698> wings.
00:22:22.661 --> 00:22:26.209
And<00:22:22.822> so<00:22:23.063> there's<00:22:23.287> no<00:22:23.705> exterior<00:22:24.267> spinning<00:22:24.973> objects<00:22:25.471> that<00:22:25.631> could<00:22:25.792> harm<00:22:26.113> you.
00:22:27.397 --> 00:22:40.337
There's<00:22:27.574> no<00:22:27.783> danger<00:22:28.184> that<00:22:28.344> the<00:22:28.425> vehicle<00:22:28.842> could<00:22:29.003> tip<00:22:29.308> over<00:22:30.110> like<00:22:30.448> the<00:22:30.528> Pan<00:22:30.833> Am<00:22:32.278> building<00:22:32.615> disaster<00:22:33.096> in<00:22:33.177> 1977<00:22:34.220> here<00:22:34.381> in<00:22:34.525> New<00:22:34.606> York,<00:22:35.007> where<00:22:35.103> a<00:22:35.184> helicopter<00:22:35.745> tipped<00:22:36.050> over<00:22:36.291> and<00:22:36.372> the<00:22:36.452> rotor<00:22:36.789> blades<00:22:37.094> hit<00:22:37.254> the<00:22:37.351> ground<00:22:37.816> and<00:22:38.378> 5<00:22:38.555> people<00:22:38.715> were<00:22:38.940> killed<00:22:39.277> and<00:22:39.679> more<00:22:39.919> injured.
00:22:41.268 --> 00:22:44.254
You<00:22:41.300> don't<00:22:41.509> have<00:22:41.750> those<00:22:41.926> kinds<00:22:42.231> of<00:22:42.809> dangers<00:22:43.211> around<00:22:43.436> our<00:22:43.612> aircraft.
00:22:45.443 --> 00:22:48.862
And<00:22:46.807> we<00:22:46.888> have<00:22:47.048> incredible<00:22:47.562> redundancy<00:22:48.268> in<00:22:48.333> our<00:22:48.429> system.
00:22:49.232 --> 00:23:00.743
System<00:22:49.633> that<00:22:49.858> Pete's<00:22:50.099> invented<00:22:50.580> has,<00:22:51.865> you<00:22:51.897> know,<00:22:52.122> 2—<00:22:52.459> it's<00:22:52.587> going<00:22:52.651> to<00:22:52.684> have<00:22:52.860> 200<00:22:53.502> of<00:22:53.711> these<00:22:54.048> small<00:22:54.305> electric<00:22:54.771> jets<00:22:55.012> that<00:22:55.156> are<00:22:55.236> really<00:22:55.429> small,<00:22:55.879> very<00:22:56.055> hard<00:22:56.280> for<00:22:56.457> any<00:22:56.617> kind<00:22:56.794> of<00:22:57.003> object<00:22:57.420> to<00:22:57.500> go<00:22:57.741> into<00:22:57.998> them<00:22:58.608> like<00:22:58.720> a<00:22:58.849> conventional<00:22:59.427> propeller<00:23:00.069> or<00:23:00.214> jet<00:23:00.454> engine.
00:23:01.980 --> 00:23:03.617
And<00:23:02.301> there's<00:23:02.799> incredible<00:23:03.168> redundancy.
00:23:03.682 --> 00:23:04.693
You<00:23:03.826> can<00:23:03.922> lose<00:23:04.163> a<00:23:04.324> third<00:23:04.549> of<00:23:04.629> them.
00:23:04.741 --> 00:23:05.608
Is<00:23:04.870> that<00:23:05.046> right,<00:23:05.287> Pete?
00:23:06.735 --> 00:23:10.082
You<00:23:06.978> can<00:23:07.125> lose<00:23:07.320> a<00:23:07.385> third<00:23:08.278> and<00:23:08.425> still<00:23:09.270> stay<00:23:09.578> in<00:23:09.660> the<00:23:09.887> air.
00:23:11.677 --> 00:23:11.919
Yeah.
00:23:14.664 --> 00:23:15.261
Yeah.
00:23:15.794 --> 00:23:17.876
And<00:23:16.359> we<00:23:16.520> also—<00:23:16.940> we're<00:23:17.166> using<00:23:17.505> wings.
00:23:18.054 --> 00:23:23.495
What<00:23:18.473> another<00:23:18.715> thing<00:23:18.958> Pete's<00:23:19.232> system<00:23:19.506> allows<00:23:19.845> is<00:23:19.942> a<00:23:20.007> lot<00:23:20.184> of<00:23:20.540> flexibility<00:23:21.848> in<00:23:21.928> the<00:23:22.025> aerodynamic<00:23:22.591> design<00:23:22.914> of<00:23:22.994> our<00:23:23.156> vehicle.
00:23:23.543 --> 00:23:27.694
So<00:23:23.705> we<00:23:23.802> actually<00:23:24.109> do<00:23:24.286> have<00:23:24.755> aerodynamic<00:23:25.336> lift<00:23:25.643> that<00:23:25.805> we're<00:23:25.966> creating<00:23:26.451> with<00:23:26.612> the<00:23:26.709> body<00:23:27.032> of<00:23:27.177> the<00:23:27.274> vehicle.
00:23:28.560 --> 00:23:42.674
So<00:23:29.380> unlike<00:23:29.782> a<00:23:29.862> multi-rotor<00:23:31.165> drone-type<00:23:31.792> craft<00:23:32.371> that<00:23:32.467> has<00:23:32.628> no<00:23:32.773> kind<00:23:33.014> of<00:23:33.159> wings,<00:23:33.577> and<00:23:33.834> if<00:23:33.963> something's<00:23:34.381> damaged,<00:23:35.008> one<00:23:35.120> of<00:23:35.249> the<00:23:35.346> 4<00:23:35.571> propellers<00:23:36.134> goes<00:23:36.455> out,<00:23:36.870> you're<00:23:36.982> kind<00:23:37.240> of<00:23:37.369> hosed,<00:23:37.805> you're<00:23:37.917> going<00:23:38.111> to<00:23:38.756> probably<00:23:39.239> spin<00:23:39.949> out<00:23:40.142> and<00:23:40.287> fall<00:23:40.707> because<00:23:40.997> there's<00:23:41.174> no<00:23:41.335> kind<00:23:41.658> of<00:23:41.964> aerodynamic<00:23:42.545> lift.
00:23:42.722 --> 00:23:44.657
So<00:23:42.948> we<00:23:43.109> do<00:23:43.270> have<00:23:43.576> aerodynamic<00:23:44.237> glide.
00:23:45.406 --> 00:23:54.840
If<00:23:45.486> something<00:23:45.807> were<00:23:45.920> to<00:23:46.048> happen,<00:23:46.482> some<00:23:46.868> catastrophic<00:23:48.170> thing<00:23:48.395> that<00:23:48.700> knocked<00:23:49.038> out<00:23:49.279> all<00:23:49.440> of<00:23:49.664> the<00:23:51.432> electrical<00:23:52.252> and<00:23:52.332> the<00:23:52.493> jets<00:23:53.136> went<00:23:53.361> out,<00:23:53.843> you'd<00:23:53.939> be<00:23:54.100> able<00:23:54.261> to<00:23:54.390> glide.
00:23:55.387 --> 00:24:02.189
And<00:23:55.547> we're<00:23:55.692> also<00:23:55.949> going<00:23:56.046> to<00:23:56.094> have<00:23:56.255> a<00:23:56.351> ballistic<00:23:56.834> chute<00:23:57.783> on<00:23:57.879> top,<00:23:58.185> which<00:23:58.362> is<00:23:58.506> possible<00:23:59.005> as<00:23:59.166> well<00:23:59.729> without<00:24:00.034> having,<00:24:00.517> you<00:24:00.549> know,<00:24:00.758> rotor<00:24:01.015> blades<00:24:01.240> that<00:24:01.321> could<00:24:01.417> get<00:24:01.578> tangled<00:24:02.141> in.
00:24:02.672 --> 00:24:03.684
In<00:24:02.737> the<00:24:02.897> absence<00:24:03.315> of<00:24:03.459> those.
00:24:04.583 --> 00:24:15.726
So,<00:24:05.225> um,<00:24:05.804> airbag<00:24:06.205> systems<00:24:06.751> on<00:24:06.831> top<00:24:07.104> of<00:24:07.233> that,<00:24:08.116> uh,<00:24:08.212> emergency<00:24:08.694> flotation,<00:24:10.444> uh,<00:24:10.701> we're<00:24:10.845> looking<00:24:11.102> at<00:24:11.199> a<00:24:11.327> retro<00:24:11.600> rocket<00:24:12.050> system<00:24:12.451> as<00:24:12.628> well<00:24:13.125> to,<00:24:13.430> to<00:24:13.575> shed<00:24:14.378> energy<00:24:14.779> when<00:24:14.875> you<00:24:14.956> get<00:24:15.004> near<00:24:15.341> the<00:24:15.437> ground.
00:24:15.775 --> 00:24:20.303
Something<00:24:16.160> like<00:24:16.465> the,<00:24:16.786> the<00:24:16.867> Blue<00:24:17.123> Origin<00:24:17.428> spacecraft,<00:24:18.151> when<00:24:18.231> it<00:24:18.312> got<00:24:18.488> close<00:24:18.649> to<00:24:18.729> the<00:24:18.874> ground,<00:24:19.195> it<00:24:19.275> had<00:24:19.436> those<00:24:19.596> retro<00:24:19.869> rockets.
00:24:21.202 --> 00:24:26.918
Uh,<00:24:21.298> so<00:24:22.165> there<00:24:22.229> are<00:24:22.278> several<00:24:22.743> layers<00:24:23.161> of<00:24:23.289> safety<00:24:24.188> to<00:24:24.349> the<00:24:24.493> vehicle<00:24:24.895> that<00:24:25.055> you<00:24:25.136> don't<00:24:25.312> get<00:24:25.537> with<00:24:25.698> conventional<00:24:26.276> aircraft.
00:24:28.924 --> 00:24:42.656
So<00:24:29.646> Pete,<00:24:29.887> can<00:24:30.111> you<00:24:30.143> speak<00:24:30.528> more<00:24:30.689> to<00:24:30.833> the,<00:24:31.234> the<00:24:31.395> technology<00:24:32.133> and<00:24:32.213> this<00:24:32.373> propulsion,<00:24:33.256> propulsion<00:24:33.897> thing<00:24:34.218> that,<00:24:34.603> uh,<00:24:34.860> that<00:24:35.004> you<00:24:35.100> kind<00:24:35.261> of<00:24:35.341> touched<00:24:35.646> on<00:24:35.806> before<00:24:36.448> and,<00:24:37.410> uh,<00:24:38.068> kind<00:24:38.293> of<00:24:38.373> how<00:24:38.533> far<00:24:38.854> along<00:24:39.191> that<00:24:39.496> is<00:24:39.913> and<00:24:41.196> everything<00:24:41.581> else<00:24:41.758> you're<00:24:41.902> working<00:24:42.239> on<00:24:42.384> there?
00:24:43.426 --> 00:25:03.578
Right,<00:24:43.843> so,<00:24:44.549> uh,<00:24:44.790> we<00:24:44.950> developed<00:24:46.154> our<00:24:46.891> clustered<00:24:47.357> electric<00:24:47.838> jet<00:24:48.030> system,<00:24:48.977> um,<00:24:50.405> a<00:24:50.485> while<00:24:50.758> ago,<00:24:51.303> and<00:24:51.383> then<00:24:51.849> we<00:24:52.089> were<00:24:52.506> awarded<00:24:53.052> a<00:24:53.228> DARPA<00:24:53.709> contract,<00:24:54.415> which<00:24:54.480> the<00:24:54.592> Defense<00:24:54.929> Advanced<00:24:55.234> Research<00:24:55.619> Projects<00:24:56.036> Agency,<00:24:57.304> um,<00:24:58.202> to<00:24:58.523> develop<00:24:59.631> an<00:24:59.791> electric<00:25:00.208> jetpack<00:25:01.251> and,<00:25:01.797> uh,<00:25:02.118> the<00:25:02.214> propulsion<00:25:02.760> system<00:25:03.161> for<00:25:03.402> it.
00:25:04.381 --> 00:25:15.341
And<00:25:04.525> so<00:25:05.167> we<00:25:05.327> were<00:25:05.488> able<00:25:05.841> to<00:25:06.467> sort<00:25:06.692> of<00:25:07.253> hone<00:25:07.751> down<00:25:08.457> on<00:25:09.596> the<00:25:09.676> specific<00:25:10.318> issues<00:25:10.703> necessary<00:25:11.361> to<00:25:11.586> have<00:25:11.843> these<00:25:12.164> clustered<00:25:12.549> electric<00:25:12.950> jets<00:25:13.431> all<00:25:13.528> sort<00:25:13.784> of<00:25:14.073> act<00:25:14.346> as<00:25:14.507> a<00:25:14.571> single<00:25:14.972> engine.
00:25:16.175 --> 00:25:33.343
So<00:25:16.978> even<00:25:17.203> though<00:25:17.363> they're<00:25:17.684> individuals<00:25:18.358> and<00:25:18.486> they're<00:25:18.599> like<00:25:19.208> 5<00:25:19.449> inches,<00:25:19.931> 4.5<00:25:20.364> inches<00:25:20.685> in<00:25:20.813> diameter,<00:25:22.017> Um,<00:25:23.300> there's<00:25:23.541> an<00:25:23.637> array<00:25:24.038> of<00:25:24.198> them<00:25:24.824> and<00:25:25.386> they<00:25:25.626> all<00:25:25.819> see<00:25:26.284> themselves<00:25:26.990> as<00:25:27.230> part<00:25:27.407> of<00:25:27.551> one<00:25:27.744> engine,<00:25:29.316> uh,<00:25:29.476> from<00:25:29.653> a<00:25:29.717> controls<00:25:30.279> perspective,<00:25:31.658> but<00:25:31.979> they<00:25:32.284> operate<00:25:32.685> independently.
00:25:33.439 --> 00:25:35.476
So<00:25:33.808> you<00:25:33.968> have<00:25:34.161> inherent<00:25:34.690> redundancies.
00:25:36.535 --> 00:25:44.893
The<00:25:36.776> engine<00:25:37.033> itself<00:25:37.514> gets<00:25:37.754> a<00:25:37.771> signal<00:25:38.396> from<00:25:38.621> the<00:25:38.717> flight<00:25:38.958> computer<00:25:39.664> just<00:25:39.840> like<00:25:40.065> a<00:25:40.081> single<00:25:40.546> engine<00:25:40.883> would,<00:25:42.070> um,<00:25:42.808> but<00:25:42.984> the<00:25:43.113> array<00:25:43.450> would<00:25:43.674> get<00:25:43.835> that<00:25:44.011> same<00:25:44.316> signal.
00:25:45.519 --> 00:25:56.040
All<00:25:45.696> the<00:25:45.856> engines<00:25:46.241> would<00:25:46.482> operate<00:25:46.979> together<00:25:47.926> under<00:25:48.102> that<00:25:48.359> signal,<00:25:50.267> if<00:25:50.427> you<00:25:50.572> had<00:25:50.908> any<00:25:51.133> reason<00:25:51.774> for<00:25:51.951> any<00:25:52.256> one<00:25:52.432> of<00:25:52.656> them<00:25:53.057> or<00:25:53.234> two<00:25:53.474> of<00:25:53.555> them<00:25:53.715> to<00:25:53.875> go<00:25:54.180> out,<00:25:54.517> they<00:25:54.693> don't<00:25:54.934> affect<00:25:55.399> the<00:25:55.543> rest<00:25:55.800> of<00:25:55.944> them.
00:25:56.938 --> 00:26:12.270
So<00:25:57.548> you<00:25:57.708> have<00:25:58.269> the<00:25:59.649> sort<00:25:59.825> of<00:26:00.114> hive<00:26:00.595> mind<00:26:02.038> of<00:26:02.776> this<00:26:03.738> propulsion<00:26:04.396> system<00:26:05.582> distributed,<00:26:06.689> and<00:26:06.785> it<00:26:07.106> basically<00:26:07.587> flies<00:26:08.052> like<00:26:08.228> a<00:26:08.244> multicopter<00:26:09.672> with,<00:26:10.137> you<00:26:10.233> know,<00:26:10.393> let's<00:26:10.666> say<00:26:10.778> a<00:26:10.859> quadcopter<00:26:11.500> has<00:26:11.741> four<00:26:11.917> engines.
00:26:12.318 --> 00:26:13.681
Well,<00:26:12.478> we<00:26:12.558> have<00:26:12.863> four<00:26:13.200> decks.
00:26:14.226 --> 00:26:14.772
Of<00:26:14.307> engines.
00:26:15.510 --> 00:26:22.810
Each<00:26:15.911> deck<00:26:16.184> of<00:26:16.393> engines<00:26:17.516> operates<00:26:17.997> like<00:26:18.174> a<00:26:18.190> single<00:26:18.639> engine<00:26:19.040> for<00:26:19.136> flight<00:26:19.377> control,<00:26:20.564> but<00:26:20.805> then<00:26:21.062> the<00:26:21.126> redundancy<00:26:21.848> is<00:26:22.008> within<00:26:22.329> each<00:26:22.586> deck.
00:26:23.709 --> 00:26:31.009
And<00:26:23.789> so<00:26:25.394> if,<00:26:25.699> uh,<00:26:26.132> if<00:26:26.260> you<00:26:26.421> lose<00:26:26.661> an<00:26:26.758> engine,<00:26:27.544> the<00:26:27.704> other<00:26:27.881> engines<00:26:28.266> will<00:26:28.362> work<00:26:28.619> just<00:26:28.827> a<00:26:28.843> little<00:26:29.004> bit<00:26:29.164> harder<00:26:29.485> to<00:26:29.565> make<00:26:29.806> up<00:26:29.967> for<00:26:30.111> the<00:26:30.207> thrust<00:26:30.512> that's<00:26:30.689> lost.
00:26:32.036 --> 00:26:35.727
And<00:26:32.084> it's<00:26:32.213> sort<00:26:32.437> of<00:26:32.534> inherent<00:26:33.336> in<00:26:33.480> the<00:26:33.577> design<00:26:35.085> architecture.
00:26:36.641 --> 00:26:40.925
So,<00:26:37.411> um,<00:26:38.535> but<00:26:38.615> yeah,<00:26:38.968> each<00:26:39.176> one<00:26:39.417> is<00:26:39.593> basically<00:26:40.139> a<00:26:40.235> little<00:26:40.476> turbine.
00:26:41.038 --> 00:26:47.673
The<00:26:41.262> reason<00:26:41.439> we<00:26:41.519> call<00:26:41.695> them<00:26:41.904> jets<00:26:42.547> We<00:26:42.627> have<00:26:42.757> little<00:26:42.967> turbine<00:26:43.436> blades,<00:26:45.069> and<00:26:45.166> it's<00:26:45.312> not<00:26:45.490> a<00:26:45.555> turbine<00:26:46.622> in<00:26:46.751> the<00:26:46.929> technical<00:26:47.414> sense.
00:26:47.754 --> 00:26:50.892
It's<00:26:47.900> not,<00:26:48.385> you<00:26:48.482> know,<00:26:48.708> moving<00:26:49.032> a<00:26:49.113> gas<00:26:49.533> or<00:26:49.662> using<00:26:49.921> a<00:26:50.067> gas<00:26:50.325> to<00:26:50.471> spin<00:26:50.827> it.
00:26:51.522 --> 00:27:07.613
It<00:26:51.862> is<00:26:52.088> actually<00:26:53.058> an<00:26:55.240> electric<00:26:55.741> motor<00:26:56.128> connected<00:26:56.549> to<00:26:56.710> these<00:26:56.937> little<00:26:57.114> metal<00:26:57.518> fans<00:26:58.165> that<00:26:58.246> are<00:26:58.326> spinning<00:26:58.811> at<00:26:58.957> like<00:26:59.151> 60,000<00:26:59.846> RPM<00:27:01.052> inside<00:27:01.872> a<00:27:02.016> Coanda<00:27:02.595> effect<00:27:02.997> sleeve<00:27:04.364> that<00:27:04.606> produces<00:27:05.168> what<00:27:05.329> you<00:27:05.474> would<00:27:05.570> call<00:27:05.812> a<00:27:05.972> jet,<00:27:07.002> a<00:27:07.082> jet<00:27:07.339> of<00:27:07.564> air.
00:27:08.604 --> 00:27:09.921
It's<00:27:08.748> not<00:27:09.246> burning<00:27:09.648> anything.
00:27:09.969 --> 00:27:10.901
There's<00:27:10.130> no<00:27:10.290> combustion.
00:27:11.013 --> 00:27:11.977
There's<00:27:11.174> no<00:27:11.334> compression.
00:27:12.459 --> 00:27:14.900
But<00:27:12.619> you<00:27:12.764> are<00:27:12.925> getting<00:27:13.182> that<00:27:13.423> jet<00:27:13.599> of<00:27:13.680> air,<00:27:13.824> just<00:27:13.985> kind<00:27:14.113> of<00:27:14.162> like<00:27:14.306> a<00:27:14.386> water<00:27:14.708> jet.
00:27:15.029 --> 00:27:24.233
Anything<00:27:15.334> that's—<00:27:15.607> anything<00:27:16.314> that<00:27:16.475> takes<00:27:17.037> a<00:27:17.181> large<00:27:18.386> intake<00:27:18.739> of<00:27:18.884> air<00:27:19.269> and<00:27:19.366> compresses<00:27:20.024> it<00:27:20.201> through<00:27:20.394> a<00:27:20.426> sleeve<00:27:21.374> and<00:27:21.518> pushes<00:27:21.872> it<00:27:22.000> out<00:27:22.177> at<00:27:22.257> a<00:27:22.321> higher<00:27:22.659> speed<00:27:23.157> is<00:27:23.365> considered<00:27:23.783> a<00:27:23.944> jet.
00:27:24.988 --> 00:27:44.320
And<00:27:25.068> so<00:27:25.293> that's<00:27:25.470> why<00:27:25.630> we<00:27:25.775> call<00:27:25.952> this<00:27:26.176> an<00:27:26.257> electric<00:27:26.755> jet,<00:27:26.899> is<00:27:26.980> we're<00:27:27.220> using<00:27:27.477> this<00:27:27.654> electric<00:27:28.120> motor<00:27:28.522> with<00:27:28.666> these<00:27:29.068> turbine-type<00:27:29.807> blades,<00:27:31.477> not<00:27:31.718> propellers,<00:27:32.377> but<00:27:32.521> actual<00:27:33.244> little<00:27:34.046> angled<00:27:34.383> blades<00:27:35.008> that<00:27:35.104> are<00:27:35.184> metal,<00:27:36.210> um,<00:27:37.204> spinning<00:27:37.588> at<00:27:37.669> very<00:27:37.973> high<00:27:38.149> RPM<00:27:38.791> to<00:27:38.935> accelerate<00:27:39.512> that<00:27:39.688> air<00:27:39.913> and<00:27:40.057> get<00:27:40.297> net<00:27:40.634> benefit<00:27:41.051> effect<00:27:42.381> of<00:27:42.541> what<00:27:42.702> you<00:27:42.798> would<00:27:42.942> have<00:27:43.214> with<00:27:43.359> just<00:27:43.535> spinning<00:27:43.920> a<00:27:43.984> propeller.
00:27:45.346 --> 00:27:48.247
And<00:27:45.442> so<00:27:46.468> each<00:27:46.869> one<00:27:47.222> is<00:27:47.430> very<00:27:47.606> efficient.
00:27:48.311 --> 00:27:53.104
We've<00:27:48.488> been<00:27:48.584> able<00:27:48.824> to<00:27:48.969> just<00:27:50.075> absolutely<00:27:50.555> tweak<00:27:50.876> the<00:27:50.972> heck<00:27:51.197> out<00:27:51.309> of<00:27:51.357> these<00:27:51.613> things<00:27:51.854> and<00:27:51.934> maximize<00:27:52.511> efficiency.
00:27:54.018 --> 00:27:56.582
There<00:27:54.178> are<00:27:54.274> similar<00:27:54.899> things<00:27:55.156> in<00:27:55.236> the<00:27:55.444> hobby-grade<00:27:56.101> market.
00:27:57.480 --> 00:28:01.711
Same<00:27:57.880> size<00:27:58.409> engine<00:27:58.730> would<00:27:58.826> produce<00:27:59.307> maybe<00:27:59.788> 8<00:28:00.012> pounds<00:28:00.285> of<00:28:00.429> thrust<00:28:01.134> at<00:28:01.310> best.
00:28:02.338 --> 00:28:04.818
And<00:28:02.419> we're<00:28:02.596> producing<00:28:03.079> 11.6<00:28:04.287> out<00:28:04.351> of<00:28:04.609> ours.
00:28:05.108 --> 00:28:08.650
So<00:28:06.042> almost<00:28:06.364> 50%<00:28:07.024> more<00:28:07.185> efficient<00:28:07.829> than<00:28:07.990> hobby<00:28:08.377> grade.
00:28:09.117 --> 00:28:21.246
And<00:28:09.182> what<00:28:09.278> that<00:28:09.439> allows<00:28:09.778> us<00:28:09.922> to<00:28:10.084> do<00:28:10.309> then<00:28:10.567> is<00:28:10.728> have<00:28:11.034> these<00:28:11.453> engines<00:28:13.055> powered<00:28:13.718> efficiently<00:28:14.366> with<00:28:14.528> batteries<00:28:16.777> in<00:28:16.874> a<00:28:16.955> way<00:28:17.344> that<00:28:17.683> allows<00:28:18.088> us<00:28:18.169> to<00:28:18.331> configure<00:28:18.962> this<00:28:19.302> so<00:28:19.480> that<00:28:19.625> it<00:28:19.852> fits<00:28:20.030> within<00:28:20.192> an<00:28:20.354> automotive<00:28:20.906> footprint.
00:28:22.446 --> 00:28:50.192
And<00:28:23.582> there's<00:28:23.744> enough<00:28:24.328> thrust<00:28:24.815> there<00:28:25.707> that<00:28:25.869> we<00:28:26.031> have<00:28:26.437> plenty<00:28:26.696> of<00:28:26.826> redundancy<00:28:28.230> at<00:28:30.348> every<00:28:30.671> corner<00:28:31.399> of<00:28:31.625> the<00:28:31.965> propulsion<00:28:32.531> system<00:28:35.280> within<00:28:35.603> every<00:28:35.927> deck<00:28:37.042> and<00:28:37.301> the<00:28:37.350> ability<00:28:37.932> for<00:28:40.114> one<00:28:40.292> engine<00:28:40.632> or<00:28:41.246> multiple<00:28:41.651> engines<00:28:42.006> even<00:28:42.233> to<00:28:42.394> go<00:28:42.702> out<00:28:43.041> and<00:28:43.122> the<00:28:43.284> rest<00:28:43.623> of<00:28:43.769> them<00:28:44.011> have<00:28:44.173> enough<00:28:44.577> net<00:28:44.755> thrust<00:28:45.871> to<00:28:45.952> be<00:28:46.097> able<00:28:46.227> to<00:28:46.291> make<00:28:46.598> up<00:28:46.760> that<00:28:46.922> difference<00:28:47.408> if<00:28:47.553> there's<00:28:47.796> any<00:28:47.958> kind<00:28:48.136> of<00:28:48.233> a,<00:28:48.929> you<00:28:48.962> know,<00:28:49.107> catastrophic<00:28:49.820> failure.
00:28:51.034 --> 00:28:54.398
And<00:28:51.519> as<00:28:51.697> Carlos<00:28:52.102> described,<00:28:52.814> our<00:28:52.928> safety<00:28:53.316> system<00:28:53.705> is<00:28:53.790> multilayered.
00:28:54.447 --> 00:28:57.075
So<00:28:54.687> you<00:28:54.719> have<00:28:55.424> redundancy<00:28:56.065> as<00:28:56.145> an<00:28:56.289> inherent<00:28:56.866> thing.
00:28:57.507 --> 00:29:07.170
Um,<00:28:58.469> we<00:28:58.549> can<00:28:58.709> still<00:28:59.013> fly<00:28:59.350> again<00:28:59.654> with<00:28:59.751> like<00:28:59.927> 60<00:29:00.311> engines<00:29:00.712> out<00:29:00.856> of<00:29:00.952> 200<00:29:01.577> out,<00:29:01.898> which<00:29:02.058> is<00:29:02.715> preposterous<00:29:03.436> to<00:29:03.661> think<00:29:03.917> you<00:29:03.997> would<00:29:04.157> have<00:29:04.478> like<00:29:04.654> a<00:29:04.782> third<00:29:04.959> of<00:29:05.039> your<00:29:05.263> propulsion<00:29:06.160> go<00:29:06.385> out<00:29:06.561> for<00:29:06.705> any<00:29:06.881> reason.
00:29:07.282 --> 00:29:14.028
But,<00:29:08.067> but<00:29:08.163> if<00:29:08.324> it<00:29:08.500> did,<00:29:08.965> you<00:29:09.109> would<00:29:09.205> still<00:29:09.509> be<00:29:09.606> able<00:29:09.862> to<00:29:10.086> land<00:29:10.807> comfortably,<00:29:12.073> um,<00:29:12.730> with<00:29:12.907> a<00:29:13.035> full<00:29:13.275> payload,<00:29:13.692> by<00:29:13.788> the<00:29:13.932> way.
00:29:14.797 --> 00:29:26.802
And<00:29:15.935> you<00:29:16.240> also<00:29:16.640> have<00:29:17.217> the<00:29:17.361> ability,<00:29:18.018> because<00:29:18.403> of<00:29:18.499> the<00:29:18.659> fact<00:29:18.900> that<00:29:18.980> you're<00:29:19.204> compact,<00:29:20.486> enclosed<00:29:21.063> propulsion,<00:29:22.827> you<00:29:22.907> have<00:29:23.051> the<00:29:23.292> ability<00:29:23.708> to<00:29:23.853> use<00:29:24.029> a<00:29:24.109> ballistic<00:29:25.231> parachute,<00:29:26.017> as<00:29:26.177> Carlos<00:29:26.514> mentioned.
00:29:26.930 --> 00:29:37.414
So<00:29:28.261> all<00:29:28.437> of<00:29:28.517> these—<00:29:29.623> the<00:29:29.704> redundancy<00:29:30.425> of<00:29:30.521> the<00:29:30.585> electric<00:29:31.226> jet<00:29:31.467> propulsion<00:29:31.964> system,<00:29:32.509> in<00:29:32.589> addition<00:29:33.070> to<00:29:33.166> the<00:29:33.262> size<00:29:33.727> and<00:29:33.807> compact<00:29:34.288> nature<00:29:34.609> of<00:29:34.705> it,<00:29:35.330> make<00:29:35.555> the<00:29:35.715> other<00:29:35.827> safety<00:29:36.276> systems<00:29:36.709> even<00:29:36.933> possible.
00:29:38.280 --> 00:29:42.111
Whereas<00:29:38.632> if<00:29:39.242> you<00:29:39.306> have<00:29:39.418> big<00:29:39.578> propellers,<00:29:40.845> you<00:29:40.925> don't<00:29:41.181> have<00:29:41.502> that<00:29:41.678> ability.
00:29:42.928 --> 00:29:46.551
Um,<00:29:44.451> where's<00:29:45.189> your<00:29:45.269> ballistic<00:29:45.654> parachute<00:29:46.134> going<00:29:46.263> to<00:29:46.311> go?
00:29:46.680 --> 00:30:05.542
You<00:29:46.792> know,<00:29:48.381> and<00:29:49.425> atmospheric<00:29:49.986> conditions<00:29:50.484> being<00:29:50.725> what<00:29:50.869> they<00:29:50.966> might<00:29:51.271> be,<00:29:52.234> even<00:29:52.410> if<00:29:52.555> you<00:29:52.956> create<00:29:53.213> a<00:29:53.229> little<00:29:53.454> nacelle<00:29:53.936> or<00:29:54.000> whatever<00:29:54.417> that<00:29:54.642> blows<00:29:54.899> your<00:29:55.043> parachute<00:29:55.621> above<00:29:56.167> your<00:29:56.408> propellers,<00:29:58.174> if<00:29:58.495> the<00:29:58.816> aircraft<00:29:59.313> tips<00:29:59.715> or<00:29:59.955> anything<00:30:00.357> happens<00:30:00.838> to<00:30:00.999> the<00:30:01.063> props,<00:30:01.882> they<00:30:02.026> can<00:30:02.123> still<00:30:02.428> go<00:30:03.407> into<00:30:03.567> the<00:30:03.648> parachute<00:30:04.611> and<00:30:05.157> kill<00:30:05.478> you.
00:30:05.590 --> 00:30:19.610
So<00:30:05.783> there's<00:30:07.565> a<00:30:07.645> lot<00:30:07.966> of,<00:30:08.544> a<00:30:08.608> lot<00:30:08.849> of<00:30:09.346> inheritances<00:30:10.952> that<00:30:11.112> are<00:30:11.193> associated<00:30:12.236> with<00:30:12.381> safety<00:30:13.039> in<00:30:13.199> the<00:30:13.279> propulsion<00:30:15.972> What<00:30:16.102> have<00:30:16.215> your<00:30:16.378> conversations<00:30:17.190> been<00:30:17.433> like<00:30:17.677> with<00:30:17.904> regulators<00:30:18.814> and<00:30:18.960> governments?
00:30:25.170 --> 00:30:30.528
Well,<00:30:26.404> this<00:30:26.517> is<00:30:26.647> a<00:30:26.728> good<00:30:27.069> point—<00:30:27.459> good<00:30:27.622> time,<00:30:27.881> actually,<00:30:28.109> I<00:30:28.125> think,<00:30:28.352> to<00:30:28.450> talk<00:30:28.710> about<00:30:29.002> our<00:30:29.245> regulatory<00:30:30.171> strategy.
00:30:31.070 --> 00:30:42.458
There's,<00:30:31.504> there's<00:30:31.827> new—<00:30:32.567> so<00:30:32.793> we<00:30:32.938> have<00:30:33.196> attended<00:30:34.565> FAA<00:30:34.822> meetings,<00:30:35.515> and<00:30:35.676> we're<00:30:36.014> part<00:30:36.192> of<00:30:36.401> ASTM,<00:30:37.142> which<00:30:37.319> is<00:30:38.253> a<00:30:39.542> group<00:30:39.880> that<00:30:40.106> creates<00:30:40.678> standards<00:30:41.168> that,<00:30:41.592> that<00:30:41.756> the<00:30:41.919> FAA<00:30:42.148> adopts.
00:30:42.990 --> 00:30:46.082
That's<00:30:43.246> recognized,<00:30:43.903> that<00:30:43.999> are<00:30:44.063> recognized<00:30:44.544> by<00:30:44.624> the<00:30:44.864> FAA<00:30:45.105> and<00:30:45.201> adopted<00:30:45.650> by<00:30:45.746> the<00:30:45.922> FAA.
00:30:47.252 --> 00:31:01.739
And,<00:30:48.133> uh,<00:30:48.935> the<00:30:49.111> FAA<00:30:49.271> is<00:30:49.367> now<00:30:49.576> creating<00:30:50.153> a<00:30:50.169> new<00:30:50.473> category<00:30:51.915> for,<00:30:52.957> uh,<00:30:53.277> aircraft<00:30:53.598> that<00:30:53.742> are<00:30:53.774> more<00:30:53.983> compact<00:30:54.495> like<00:30:54.864> ours,<00:30:55.505> that,<00:30:55.825> that<00:30:55.922> are<00:30:56.002> 4,<00:30:56.466> 4<00:30:56.643> people<00:30:56.963> or<00:30:57.123> less,<00:30:57.845> basically<00:30:58.309> less,<00:30:58.870> less<00:30:59.207> risk<00:30:59.832> as<00:30:59.928> a<00:30:59.992> result<00:31:00.409> of<00:31:00.553> less<00:31:00.809> footprint<00:31:01.290> and<00:31:01.434> mass.
00:31:03.037 --> 00:31:15.798
And<00:31:03.597> electric<00:31:04.495> vertical<00:31:04.815> takeoff<00:31:05.280> and<00:31:05.376> landing<00:31:06.081> vehicles,<00:31:06.642> eVTOL<00:31:07.203> for<00:31:07.363> short,<00:31:08.325> uh,<00:31:08.822> is<00:31:09.047> what<00:31:09.450> our<00:31:09.692> vehicle<00:31:10.014> could<00:31:10.175> be<00:31:10.272> considered<00:31:11.077> because<00:31:11.722> it<00:31:11.867> is<00:31:12.028> electric<00:31:12.383> vertical<00:31:12.753> takeoff<00:31:12.995> and<00:31:13.172> landing,<00:31:13.575> even<00:31:13.800> though<00:31:13.881> it's<00:31:14.058> quite<00:31:14.300> different<00:31:14.606> in<00:31:14.687> the<00:31:14.767> way<00:31:14.944> we<00:31:15.106> do<00:31:15.267> it<00:31:15.412> from<00:31:15.573> others.
00:31:16.498 --> 00:31:36.871
But<00:31:16.660> that's—<00:31:17.129> eVTOL<00:31:17.436> will<00:31:17.533> become<00:31:17.921> a<00:31:18.099> bucket<00:31:18.746> under<00:31:18.972> this<00:31:19.150> new<00:31:19.296> regulatory<00:31:20.347> structure,<00:31:21.722> and<00:31:21.835> it'll<00:31:22.304> not<00:31:22.530> only<00:31:22.708> allow<00:31:23.096> you<00:31:23.193> to<00:31:23.614> certify,<00:31:25.700> to<00:31:25.732> get<00:31:25.830> your<00:31:25.942> pilot's<00:31:26.344> license<00:31:26.987> with<00:31:27.212> only<00:31:27.469> about<00:31:27.790> 20<00:31:28.256> hours<00:31:28.819> of<00:31:28.980> training,<00:31:31.165> but<00:31:32.998> it<00:31:33.191> will<00:31:34.283> allow<00:31:34.541> for<00:31:34.782> limited<00:31:35.522> commercial<00:31:36.098> uses<00:31:36.509> as<00:31:36.756> well.
00:31:39.895 --> 00:31:44.396
Tourism,<00:31:40.447> say<00:31:40.675> like<00:31:41.325> photography<00:31:42.300> or<00:31:42.608> aerial<00:31:42.787> photography,<00:31:43.600> things<00:31:43.827> like<00:31:44.071> that.
00:31:47.195 --> 00:32:01.820
So<00:31:47.215> it's—<00:31:47.456> that's<00:31:47.617> a<00:31:47.633> new,<00:31:48.485> a<00:31:48.501> new<00:31:49.224> sort<00:31:49.385> of<00:31:49.529> latitude<00:31:50.011> that's<00:31:50.188> being<00:31:50.493> offered<00:31:50.991> within<00:31:52.180> the<00:31:52.261> framework<00:31:52.694> of<00:31:52.839> the<00:31:53.000> law,<00:31:54.430> because<00:31:54.848> the<00:31:55.073> FAA<00:31:55.474> is<00:31:55.780> seeing<00:31:56.056> these<00:31:56.219> innovations<00:31:57.505> in<00:31:57.912> eVTOL<00:31:58.417> aircraft<00:31:58.824> and<00:31:58.922> seeing<00:31:59.150> that<00:31:59.476> the<00:31:59.638> law<00:31:59.801> needs<00:32:00.045> to<00:32:00.208> adapt<00:32:01.495> to<00:32:01.739> it.
00:32:02.730 --> 00:32:06.501
So<00:32:03.628> that's<00:32:03.821> essentially<00:32:04.527> the<00:32:04.832> certification<00:32:05.570> path<00:32:05.827> we'll<00:32:06.019> be<00:32:06.132> taking.
00:32:06.613 --> 00:32:15.087
But<00:32:08.202> even<00:32:08.378> today,<00:32:08.860> you<00:32:09.004> could,<00:32:09.197> if<00:32:09.325> you<00:32:09.422> wanted<00:32:09.678> to<00:32:09.743> fly<00:32:10.047> one<00:32:10.160> of<00:32:10.240> our<00:32:10.705> aircraft,<00:32:11.026> you<00:32:11.187> could<00:32:11.492> do<00:32:11.668> it<00:32:12.310> under<00:32:12.872> specialty<00:32:13.771> sport<00:32:14.140> aircraft<00:32:14.541> licensing.
00:32:15.921 --> 00:32:20.158
But<00:32:16.226> that<00:32:16.547> extra<00:32:16.948> layer<00:32:17.430> of<00:32:18.328> limited<00:32:18.633> commercial<00:32:19.195> use<00:32:19.371> will<00:32:19.532> be<00:32:19.612> pretty<00:32:19.933> cool.
00:32:21.361 --> 00:32:29.177
And<00:32:21.795> of<00:32:21.939> course,<00:32:22.244> there's<00:32:22.421> the<00:32:22.501> regular<00:32:22.902> type<00:32:23.159> certification<00:32:24.009> path<00:32:24.427> that<00:32:25.213> could<00:32:25.309> be<00:32:25.454> a<00:32:25.470> little<00:32:25.711> down<00:32:25.887> the<00:32:25.951> road<00:32:26.256> that<00:32:26.497> would<00:32:26.673> allow<00:32:26.994> even<00:32:27.235> broader<00:32:28.262> commercial<00:32:28.744> activity.
00:32:29.715 --> 00:32:32.941
So<00:32:29.880> we<00:32:29.913> have<00:32:30.127> kind<00:32:30.291> of<00:32:30.390> a<00:32:30.406> stepped<00:32:30.982> plan<00:32:31.526> to<00:32:31.624> get<00:32:31.855> where<00:32:31.937> we're<00:32:32.200> going<00:32:32.595> with<00:32:32.842> it.
00:32:35.410 --> 00:32:38.887
What<00:32:35.911> are<00:32:36.186> the<00:32:36.736> environmental<00:32:37.868> impacts,<00:32:38.515> if<00:32:38.677> any?
00:32:41.210 --> 00:32:47.655
Yeah,<00:32:41.388> well,<00:32:41.485> I<00:32:41.566> would<00:32:41.679> say<00:32:41.890> that<00:32:42.116> we<00:32:42.214> actually<00:32:42.521> have<00:32:43.250> favorable<00:32:43.995> environmental<00:32:44.497> impact,<00:32:45.194> obviously<00:32:45.760> being<00:32:46.117> zero<00:32:46.425> emissions<00:32:46.910> and<00:32:47.056> electric.
00:32:47.720 --> 00:32:48.481
That's<00:32:47.963> a<00:32:48.109> big<00:32:48.287> one.
00:32:49.610 --> 00:32:50.285
Oh,<00:32:49.787> lost<00:32:50.044> Pete.
00:32:50.849 --> 00:33:04.656
But<00:32:52.217> the<00:32:52.297> fact<00:32:52.603> that<00:32:52.716> the<00:32:52.844> vehicle<00:32:53.488> is<00:32:54.373> more<00:32:54.615> automotive<00:32:55.661> in<00:32:55.902> size<00:32:57.477> it<00:32:58.534> means<00:32:58.855> that—<00:32:59.271> so<00:32:59.496> we're<00:32:59.640> also<00:32:59.896> developing<00:33:00.762> a<00:33:01.098> fast<00:33:01.403> charging<00:33:01.899> unit<00:33:02.621> that<00:33:02.925> is<00:33:03.021> like<00:33:03.406> a<00:33:03.486> landing<00:33:03.822> pad<00:33:04.047> you<00:33:04.143> can<00:33:04.303> land<00:33:04.608> on.
00:33:04.704 --> 00:33:14.511
It's<00:33:05.104> called<00:33:05.281> the<00:33:05.361> Vertistop,<00:33:07.011> and<00:33:08.454> you'll<00:33:08.614> be<00:33:08.646> able<00:33:08.790> to<00:33:08.854> essentially<00:33:09.271> place<00:33:09.672> that<00:33:09.848> like<00:33:10.056> on<00:33:10.152> a<00:33:10.232> parking<00:33:10.633> garage,<00:33:11.034> an<00:33:11.114> existing<00:33:11.675> parking<00:33:12.075> garage,<00:33:12.492> existing<00:33:13.037> building<00:33:13.838> parking<00:33:14.239> lot.
00:33:15.120 --> 00:33:20.072
So<00:33:15.985> environmentally<00:33:16.707> speaking,<00:33:17.620> our<00:33:17.828> infrastructural<00:33:18.710> footprint<00:33:19.447> is<00:33:19.607> very<00:33:19.912> low.
00:33:20.489 --> 00:33:29.990
We<00:33:20.585> don't<00:33:20.793> have<00:33:20.969> to<00:33:21.130> create<00:33:21.755> heavy<00:33:22.877> heavy—<00:33:24.338> do<00:33:24.483> heavy<00:33:24.740> construction<00:33:25.382> to<00:33:25.527> create<00:33:25.864> big<00:33:26.040> vertiports<00:33:26.731> and<00:33:26.811> essentially<00:33:27.293> tiny<00:33:27.710> airports<00:33:28.192> in<00:33:28.353> urban<00:33:28.674> centers<00:33:29.236> and<00:33:29.396> things<00:33:29.557> like<00:33:29.862> that.
00:33:30.055 --> 00:33:45.967
So<00:33:31.066> not<00:33:31.227> only<00:33:31.644> is<00:33:31.805> the<00:33:31.885> vehicle<00:33:32.206> itself<00:33:32.592> zero<00:33:32.993> emissions,<00:33:33.410> but<00:33:33.956> the<00:33:34.133> infrastructure<00:33:34.791> to<00:33:34.872> support<00:33:35.562> our<00:33:35.739> vehicle<00:33:36.220> can<00:33:36.381> be<00:33:36.477> miniaturized<00:33:37.184> and<00:33:37.328> have<00:33:37.569> less<00:33:37.746> of<00:33:37.906> a<00:33:37.922> footprint<00:33:38.468> on<00:33:38.549> the<00:33:38.629> environment,<00:33:39.271> on<00:33:39.432> resources,<00:33:40.138> on<00:33:40.170> materials<00:33:41.358> to<00:33:41.423> actually<00:33:42.081> achieve<00:33:42.900> scale<00:33:43.430> at<00:33:43.526> a<00:33:43.671> large,<00:33:45.292> a<00:33:45.517> large<00:33:45.758> scale.
00:33:46.978 --> 00:33:57.735
So<00:33:48.504> Something<00:33:48.905> I<00:33:48.921> didn't<00:33:49.322> mention<00:33:49.932> either<00:33:50.254> that<00:33:51.217> you<00:33:51.297> maybe<00:33:52.196> may<00:33:52.341> have<00:33:52.437> been<00:33:52.582> wondering<00:33:53.079> too,<00:33:53.336> is<00:33:53.465> just<00:33:54.107> what<00:33:54.348> he<00:33:54.508> was<00:33:54.604> saying<00:33:54.845> about<00:33:55.086> technology<00:33:56.049> and<00:33:56.435> how<00:33:56.515> our<00:33:56.627> system<00:33:57.029> is<00:33:57.109> unique.
00:33:58.121 --> 00:34:01.685
Those,<00:33:59.020> those<00:33:59.196> little<00:33:59.726> electric<00:34:00.288> jets<00:34:00.609> favor<00:34:00.946> high<00:34:01.107> speed.
00:34:02.054 --> 00:34:15.280
So<00:34:02.311> we<00:34:02.471> have<00:34:02.793> a<00:34:02.873> big<00:34:03.098> advantage<00:34:04.559> in<00:34:04.703> that<00:34:04.880> we<00:34:05.040> can<00:34:05.185> travel<00:34:05.602> at<00:34:05.682> 200<00:34:06.164> miles<00:34:06.485> an<00:34:06.630> hour<00:34:07.593> and<00:34:08.332> get<00:34:08.733> 250<00:34:09.455> miles<00:34:09.776> of<00:34:09.937> range<00:34:10.643> with,<00:34:10.981> with<00:34:11.077> a<00:34:11.141> single<00:34:11.462> charge<00:34:11.767> with<00:34:11.944> current<00:34:13.533> lithium<00:34:14.575> ion<00:34:14.831> batteries.
00:34:15.392 --> 00:34:23.371
And<00:34:15.488> so<00:34:16.578> as<00:34:16.994> batteries<00:34:17.379> improve,<00:34:17.924> we'll<00:34:18.036> be<00:34:18.100> able<00:34:18.276> to<00:34:18.517> improve<00:34:18.981> that<00:34:20.359> a<00:34:20.439> lot,<00:34:21.080> maybe<00:34:21.401> double,<00:34:21.945> double<00:34:22.202> that<00:34:22.378> amount<00:34:22.682> in<00:34:22.747> the<00:34:22.827> near<00:34:23.003> future.
00:34:23.420 --> 00:34:42.438
So,<00:34:24.765> you<00:34:24.830> know,<00:34:24.926> that<00:34:25.230> really,<00:34:26.528> it<00:34:26.688> opens<00:34:27.089> the<00:34:27.249> door<00:34:27.890> when<00:34:28.034> you<00:34:28.130> combine<00:34:28.515> that<00:34:28.691> plus<00:34:29.092> the<00:34:29.252> infra—<00:34:29.893> infrastructure<00:34:30.534> and<00:34:30.678> charging<00:34:31.094> solutions<00:34:32.280> to<00:34:32.360> say<00:34:33.177> not<00:34:33.402> only<00:34:33.642> go<00:34:33.802> from<00:34:33.978> like<00:34:34.203> New<00:34:34.235> York<00:34:34.459> to<00:34:34.619> Boston<00:34:35.084> in<00:34:35.180> one<00:34:35.404> hop,<00:34:35.805> but<00:34:36.766> LA<00:34:37.167> to<00:34:37.664> San<00:34:37.904> Francisco,<00:34:39.009> you<00:34:39.041> know,<00:34:39.410> and<00:34:39.907> with<00:34:40.147> one<00:34:40.371> fast<00:34:40.644> charge<00:34:40.948> in<00:34:41.012> the<00:34:41.092> middle<00:34:41.349> in<00:34:41.429> like<00:34:41.653> an<00:34:41.813> hour<00:34:41.990> and<00:34:42.070> a<00:34:42.134> half.
00:34:42.969 --> 00:34:58.255
So<00:34:44.141> then<00:34:44.318> you<00:34:44.414> don't<00:34:44.558> need<00:34:44.719> to<00:34:44.799> go<00:34:44.960> to<00:34:45.040> the<00:34:45.281> airport<00:34:45.698> because<00:34:45.987> why<00:34:46.164> get<00:34:46.325> in<00:34:46.421> a<00:34:46.549> car<00:34:46.806> to<00:34:46.951> drive<00:34:47.224> to<00:34:47.288> the<00:34:47.449> airport<00:34:48.027> to<00:34:48.396> go<00:34:48.573> through<00:34:48.717> the<00:34:48.813> whole<00:34:48.974> process<00:34:49.279> at<00:34:49.375> the<00:34:49.520> airport,<00:34:49.857> get<00:34:50.082> on<00:34:50.178> a<00:34:50.242> plane,<00:34:50.580> go<00:34:50.724> to<00:34:50.820> the<00:34:50.901> other—<00:34:51.704> to<00:34:51.752> your<00:34:51.864> destination,<00:34:52.506> then<00:34:52.667> get<00:34:52.828> in<00:34:52.972> another<00:34:53.293> car<00:34:53.550> and<00:34:53.695> go,<00:34:53.871> you<00:34:53.968> know,<00:34:54.128> so<00:34:55.220> it'll<00:34:55.461> really—<00:34:56.521> if<00:34:56.761> efficient—<00:34:57.404> efficiency-wise.
00:34:58.351 --> 00:35:05.368
And<00:34:58.447> that<00:34:58.752> also<00:34:59.234> is<00:34:59.330> an<00:34:59.411> environmental<00:35:00.278> benefit<00:35:00.920> when<00:35:01.081> people<00:35:01.322> aren't<00:35:01.900> getting<00:35:02.205> on,<00:35:02.445> you<00:35:02.478> know,<00:35:02.686> airliners<00:35:03.104> and<00:35:03.248> burning<00:35:03.505> jet<00:35:03.746> fuel<00:35:03.939> because<00:35:04.228> that's<00:35:04.565> a<00:35:04.629> huge<00:35:04.934> pollutant.
00:35:06.090 --> 00:35:07.728
So<00:35:06.315> there<00:35:06.556> are<00:35:06.652> several<00:35:07.054> layers<00:35:07.439> to<00:35:07.616> it.
00:35:09.563 --> 00:35:10.463
How<00:35:09.727> big<00:35:09.972> is<00:35:10.054> your<00:35:10.201> team?
00:35:12.790 --> 00:35:13.618
Want<00:35:12.913> to<00:35:12.948> take<00:35:13.001> this<00:35:13.178> one,<00:35:13.354> Pete?
00:35:15.890 --> 00:35:19.502
Well,<00:35:16.100> it's<00:35:16.230> not<00:35:16.343> a<00:35:16.408> hard<00:35:16.635> question<00:35:17.023> because<00:35:17.282> you're<00:35:17.380> looking<00:35:19.307> at<00:35:19.404> them.
00:35:20.441 --> 00:35:22.952
I<00:35:20.781> mean,<00:35:21.008> this<00:35:21.672> is<00:35:21.899> our<00:35:22.077> core<00:35:22.304> team<00:35:22.563> right<00:35:22.709> here.
00:35:23.750 --> 00:35:24.314
Yeah,<00:35:24.008> this<00:35:24.072> is<00:35:24.250> it.
00:35:24.734 --> 00:35:40.046
We<00:35:24.814> have<00:35:25.073> some<00:35:25.541> part-time<00:35:26.509> people,<00:35:28.219> a<00:35:28.284> lot<00:35:28.526> of<00:35:28.703> vendors<00:35:29.268> that<00:35:29.591> do<00:35:29.849> some<00:35:30.075> of<00:35:30.139> our<00:35:30.381> fabrication<00:35:31.123> work<00:35:31.462> and<00:35:31.608> things<00:35:31.930> that<00:35:32.156> we<00:35:32.188> kind<00:35:33.076> of<00:35:33.270> sub<00:35:33.450> out<00:35:33.712> to<00:35:34.696> for<00:35:34.860> welding<00:35:35.582> and<00:35:36.376> you<00:35:36.456> know,<00:35:36.553> some<00:35:36.793> of<00:35:36.841> the<00:35:36.937> hardware<00:35:37.370> stuff<00:35:37.915> and<00:35:37.995> manufacturing<00:35:39.197> of<00:35:39.277> our<00:35:39.501> components.
00:35:40.158 --> 00:35:42.338
But<00:35:40.479> other<00:35:40.863> than<00:35:41.024> that,<00:35:41.344> this<00:35:41.520> is<00:35:41.681> it<00:35:41.985> right<00:35:42.257> now.
00:35:42.963 --> 00:35:52.946
Part<00:35:43.091> of<00:35:43.123> the<00:35:43.203> reason<00:35:43.443> we're<00:35:43.523> trying<00:35:43.748> to<00:35:43.780> raise<00:35:44.084> capital—<00:35:45.206> we<00:35:45.350> had<00:35:45.527> some<00:35:45.767> interns<00:35:46.264> and<00:35:46.392> a<00:35:46.472> couple<00:35:46.793> part-timers<00:35:47.353> over<00:35:47.514> the<00:35:47.546> summer<00:35:48.010> that,<00:35:48.732> that<00:35:48.956> were<00:35:49.373> full-time<00:35:49.933> during<00:35:50.238> our<00:35:50.478> big<00:35:50.719> build<00:35:51.135> for<00:35:51.296> the<00:35:51.440> LX-1<00:35:52.113> and<00:35:52.257> got<00:35:52.417> that<00:35:52.658> flying.
00:35:53.683 --> 00:36:01.231
But<00:35:53.940> now<00:35:54.340> that<00:35:54.645> we're<00:35:55.783> kind<00:35:55.927> of<00:35:56.007> ready<00:35:56.263> to<00:35:56.344> go<00:35:56.568> into<00:35:56.664> the<00:35:56.760> next<00:35:56.969> stage,<00:35:57.529> we're<00:35:57.626> trying<00:35:57.802> to<00:35:57.866> raise<00:35:58.106> capital<00:35:59.789> to<00:35:59.933> build<00:36:00.125> our<00:36:00.350> full<00:36:00.510> prototype.
00:36:01.780 --> 00:36:07.998
Hire<00:36:02.463> permanent<00:36:02.870> staff<00:36:03.668> and<00:36:04.010> establish<00:36:05.247> some<00:36:05.475> facilities<00:36:06.044> that<00:36:06.191> we<00:36:06.289> can<00:36:06.468> use<00:36:06.761> to<00:36:06.940> do<00:36:07.086> everything<00:36:07.428> we<00:36:07.510> need<00:36:07.672> to<00:36:07.754> do.
00:36:09.555 --> 00:36:21.040
Well,<00:36:09.716> like<00:36:09.893> I<00:36:09.958> said<00:36:10.135> at<00:36:10.264> the<00:36:10.360> beginning,<00:36:11.149> I<00:36:11.246> can't<00:36:11.568> think<00:36:12.115> of<00:36:14.369> too<00:36:14.481> many<00:36:14.707> more<00:36:15.029> interesting<00:36:16.156> companies<00:36:16.703> to<00:36:16.800> be<00:36:16.945> working<00:36:17.347> on<00:36:18.152> or<00:36:18.249> problems<00:36:18.635> to<00:36:18.700> be<00:36:18.732> solving<00:36:19.604> than<00:36:20.249> flying<00:36:20.588> cars.
00:36:22.041 --> 00:36:27.675
