Trimble CEO Rob Painter: Connecting the digital and physical realms through tech transformation

Show notes

The company Hewlett-Packard passed on

In 1977, Charlie Trimble worked at Hewlett-Packard and got interested in a positioning technology called LORAN, and then in a newer one called GPS. He took GPS to the company. The company passed. The next year he founded Trimble in Silicon Valley.

Today Trimble is an S&P 500 company headquartered in Westminster, Colorado. Rob Painter has run it since January 2020. He joined in 2006, managed the company's joint venture with Hilti, led the buildings software business, and served as CFO from 2016 through 2019.

On the CEO.com Podcast, Painter said the company has 13,000 employees and does business in more than 150 countries, with the majority now in software. He described Trimble's evolution as a climb up the technology stack. Positioning is the "where." Software is the "what." Customer problems are the "why."

The "why" of Trimble, he said, is feed the world, move the world, build the world. "The mission of Trimble is to transform the way the world works. We don't say make the world work a little bit better. We have a mission of transformation because we're serving industries that are in need of digital transformation."

Those industries have room for it. In construction, 80% of projects finish late and 40% run over budget. Painter puts the annual cost of that lost productivity at $1.6 trillion, roughly Canada's GDP. In trucking, 86% of drivers leave their companies every year. "Think about losing your entire workforce every single year," he said. Trimble's routing and payment tools save drivers an average of 20 minutes a day. "We don't have a driver shortage in North America."

The farm came first, though. Trimble took its survey-grade GPS, put it on tractors, and invented precision agriculture: seed placed within one to two centimeters, fertilizer and herbicide applied only where the soil needs it. Painter connects the work to a deadline. The world will need 69% more calories by 2050, grown on the same arable land. That business now operates as PTx Trimble, a joint venture with AGCO in which Trimble holds a 15% stake.

On artificial intelligence, Painter has a garbage-in, garbage-out view. Large language models trained on the open internet all drink from the same well. Trimble's data is different: over a trillion dollars of construction projects managed through its systems, more than $60 billion of freight moving through its platforms, 180 million acres of farmland. That data produces tools like selective spraying, which distinguishes the weed from the crop and cuts herbicide use by 80% to 90%, and driver-facing cameras that detect fatigue. "The KPI is saving lives," Painter said. "That's a pretty good KPI to have."

He is plainspoken about the job itself. CEOs are paid by shareholders to allocate capital, and capital is time, people, and money. Trimble runs on what he calls an operating system of strategy, people, and execution, and failing at any one of the three eventually sinks the other two. He says the organizational model of the 20th century looked like swim lanes and the model of the 21st looks like water polo. He reads no business books anymore, with one exception he'll admit to: Atomic Habits, for its idea of getting 1% better every day.

The years since the conversation have been busy ones. In April 2026, Trimble agreed to acquire Document Crunch, which uses AI to flag contract risk across the construction project lifecycle. In August, the company reported second-quarter revenue of $972 million, up 10% on an organic basis, with annualized recurring revenue of $2.51 billion, raised full-year guidance, and a new $1 billion share repurchase authorization. On the earnings call, Painter told investors Trimble is "adding over a petabyte of real-world construction data to Trimble Connect every quarter," and announced a strategic review of the company's Transportation and Logistics business after receiving inbound interest from multiple parties.

Asked who gave him a chance, Painter named names. David Stern, his first boss at Kraft General Foods, who hired a kid from West Virginia into New York. Paul Riley at Cenveo, who handed him a general manager job Painter says he didn't deserve. Steve Berglund, his predecessor at Trimble. Then he went further back: to country, family, and circumstance. "We were born on third base, so let's not think that we were born on first."

He closed with a line he borrowed from Doc Rivers. The pressure is privilege.

00:00:09.962 --> 00:00:12.833
Rob,<00:00:10.430> thank<00:00:10.688> you<00:00:10.833> so<00:00:11.091> much<00:00:11.398> for<00:00:11.559> coming<00:00:12.285> on<00:00:12.462> the<00:00:12.543> show.

00:00:12.946 --> 00:00:13.688
It<00:00:13.091> means<00:00:13.350> a<00:00:13.430> lot.

00:00:13.737 --> 00:00:16.027
You're<00:00:13.898> the<00:00:13.979> CEO<00:00:14.398> of<00:00:14.559> Trimble<00:00:15.124> Navigations.

00:00:16.091 --> 00:00:21.664
Can<00:00:16.156> you<00:00:16.253> tell<00:00:16.479> us<00:00:16.591> about<00:00:16.979> Trimble,<00:00:18.294> how<00:00:18.455> it<00:00:18.536> got<00:00:18.697> started,<00:00:19.181> and<00:00:19.262> how<00:00:19.665> you<00:00:20.229> came<00:00:20.632> to<00:00:20.793> be<00:00:21.019> the<00:00:21.116> CEO?

00:00:23.534 --> 00:00:33.111
Let's<00:00:23.760> go<00:00:23.937> back<00:00:24.243> to<00:00:24.985> a<00:00:25.211> year<00:00:25.533> called<00:00:25.840> 1978,<00:00:27.404> because<00:00:27.746> that's<00:00:28.072> when<00:00:28.300> Charlie<00:00:28.708> Trimble<00:00:29.066> founded<00:00:30.227> the<00:00:30.324> company<00:00:31.355> in<00:00:31.452> a<00:00:31.532> garage<00:00:32.176> in<00:00:32.338> Silicon<00:00:32.821> Valley.

00:00:34.335 --> 00:00:41.142
That,<00:00:34.673> that<00:00:35.173> story<00:00:36.349> of<00:00:36.510> the,<00:00:36.993> of<00:00:37.090> Valley,<00:00:37.637> of<00:00:37.718> the<00:00:37.799> Valley<00:00:38.217> and<00:00:38.362> innovation<00:00:39.412> is<00:00:39.929> the<00:00:40.010> story<00:00:40.479> of<00:00:40.867> Trimble.

00:00:42.970 --> 00:00:45.542
Before<00:00:43.294> getting<00:00:43.536> to<00:00:43.568> 1978,<00:00:44.410> you<00:00:44.442> got<00:00:44.555> to<00:00:44.604> go<00:00:44.701> to<00:00:44.782> 1977.

00:00:45.639 --> 00:00:48.522
In<00:00:45.687> 1977,<00:00:46.802> Charlie<00:00:47.191> was<00:00:47.354> working<00:00:47.775> at<00:00:47.857> Hewlett-Packard.

00:00:48.587 --> 00:00:52.027
Charlie<00:00:48.911> was<00:00:49.074> interested<00:00:50.209> in<00:00:50.307> a<00:00:50.372> positioning<00:00:50.858> technology<00:00:51.410> called<00:00:51.734> Loran.

00:00:53.770 --> 00:00:56.944
Later,<00:00:54.080> Charlie<00:00:54.408> was<00:00:54.506> interested<00:00:54.980> in<00:00:55.062> a<00:00:55.242> technology<00:00:55.799> you<00:00:55.831> might<00:00:56.044> have<00:00:56.142> heard<00:00:56.371> of<00:00:56.470> called<00:00:56.633> GPS.

00:00:57.807 --> 00:00:58.867
He<00:00:57.968> took<00:00:58.144> that<00:00:58.369> to<00:00:58.450> the<00:00:58.530> company.

00:00:59.510 --> 00:01:00.361
They<00:00:59.654> weren't<00:00:59.831> interested.

00:01:01.839 --> 00:01:07.734
And<00:01:01.919> now<00:01:02.160> you<00:01:02.256> have<00:01:02.401> the<00:01:02.545> origin<00:01:02.899> story,<00:01:03.830> um,<00:01:04.152> of<00:01:04.248> Trimble<00:01:04.714> as,<00:01:04.955> uh,<00:01:05.115> commercial<00:01:05.597> applications,<00:01:06.963> um,<00:01:07.075> of<00:01:07.284> GPS.

00:01:07.862 --> 00:01:09.806
And<00:01:07.942> it's<00:01:08.103> very,<00:01:08.344> very,<00:01:08.986> uh,<00:01:09.227> early<00:01:09.549> days.

00:01:09.854 --> 00:01:14.656
So<00:01:09.934> the<00:01:10.030> origin<00:01:10.336> story<00:01:10.753> of<00:01:10.914> Trimble<00:01:11.380> is<00:01:11.540> in<00:01:11.958> deep<00:01:12.199> in<00:01:12.279> positioning<00:01:12.841> and<00:01:12.986> sensing<00:01:13.966> technologies.

00:01:14.769 --> 00:01:17.660
I<00:01:14.849> think<00:01:15.090> of<00:01:15.154> that<00:01:15.395> as<00:01:15.556> the<00:01:15.652> where<00:01:16.295> in<00:01:16.455> the<00:01:16.776> technology<00:01:17.274> stack.

00:01:17.724 --> 00:01:21.691
When<00:01:17.885> precision<00:01:18.238> matters,<00:01:19.186> you<00:01:19.266> want<00:01:19.491> Trimble<00:01:19.909> in<00:01:19.989> industrial<00:01:21.017> applications.

00:01:22.398 --> 00:01:25.562
Over<00:01:22.559> the<00:01:22.703> years,<00:01:23.362> We've<00:01:23.587> added<00:01:24.020> software<00:01:24.646> content<00:01:25.208> to<00:01:25.385> that.

00:01:25.674 --> 00:01:30.041
We<00:01:25.835> think<00:01:25.995> about<00:01:26.493> the<00:01:26.718> context<00:01:27.296> in<00:01:27.440> which<00:01:27.617> that<00:01:27.777> positioning<00:01:28.420> technology<00:01:29.303> is<00:01:29.688> used.

00:01:30.989 --> 00:01:33.734
And<00:01:31.053> that<00:01:31.214> increasingly<00:01:31.792> took<00:01:32.097> us<00:01:32.578> to<00:01:32.835> develop<00:01:33.221> solutions.

00:01:33.783 --> 00:01:39.097
So<00:01:33.863> once<00:01:34.023> you<00:01:34.104> start<00:01:34.345> thinking<00:01:34.602> about<00:01:34.842> solutions,<00:01:35.404> you're<00:01:35.629> adding<00:01:36.127> by<00:01:36.368> almost<00:01:36.560> definition<00:01:37.155> software<00:01:38.198> to<00:01:38.375> that<00:01:38.616> hardware.

00:01:39.659 --> 00:01:42.533
That<00:01:40.205> to<00:01:40.366> us<00:01:40.623> gets<00:01:40.864> the<00:01:41.088> what<00:01:41.490> in<00:01:41.570> the<00:01:41.666> technology<00:01:42.212> stack.

00:01:43.176 --> 00:01:48.539
And<00:01:43.674> more<00:01:43.898> and<00:01:43.946> more<00:01:44.396> we<00:01:44.621> look<00:01:44.862> at<00:01:45.022> the<00:01:45.119> why,<00:01:45.520> what<00:01:45.681> problems<00:01:46.178> are<00:01:46.210> our<00:01:46.387> customers<00:01:47.607> trying<00:01:48.073> to<00:01:48.185> solve?

00:01:49.294 --> 00:01:54.225
So<00:01:49.518> we're<00:01:49.679> bringing<00:01:50.900> products<00:01:51.302> and<00:01:51.382> services<00:01:52.265> that<00:01:52.490> connect<00:01:52.812> the<00:01:52.908> physical<00:01:53.374> and<00:01:53.454> the<00:01:53.551> digital<00:01:53.936> worlds.

00:01:54.274 --> 00:01:56.571
We<00:01:54.354> have<00:01:54.515> a<00:01:54.739> history<00:01:55.237> in<00:01:55.543> field<00:01:55.800> technologies.

00:01:57.551 --> 00:02:01.310
We<00:01:57.647> have<00:01:57.888> a<00:01:58.049> current<00:01:58.515> presence<00:01:58.948> in<00:01:59.077> reality<00:01:59.655> and<00:01:59.832> software<00:02:00.619> capabilities.

00:02:01.519 --> 00:02:03.703
In<00:02:01.583> fact,<00:02:01.808> the<00:02:01.840> majority<00:02:02.226> of<00:02:02.306> the<00:02:02.386> company<00:02:02.932> today<00:02:03.189> is<00:02:03.286> software.

00:02:04.394 --> 00:02:15.864
And<00:02:04.458> we're<00:02:04.571> applying<00:02:05.037> these<00:02:05.278> to<00:02:06.081> large<00:02:06.467> markets<00:02:06.884> such<00:02:07.125> as<00:02:07.286> construction,<00:02:08.314> agriculture,<00:02:09.214> and<00:02:09.294> transportation,<00:02:10.322> connecting<00:02:10.740> work<00:02:10.981> in<00:02:11.045> the<00:02:11.125> field<00:02:12.410> with<00:02:12.571> the<00:02:12.651> office,<00:02:13.149> connecting<00:02:13.551> the<00:02:13.631> physical<00:02:13.937> and<00:02:14.097> digital<00:02:14.418> worlds,<00:02:14.756> connecting<00:02:15.077> the<00:02:15.141> hardware<00:02:15.463> and<00:02:15.559> software.

00:02:16.667 --> 00:02:17.116
Of<00:02:16.859> Trimble.

00:02:17.164 --> 00:02:21.798
So<00:02:17.324> today,<00:02:18.367> 46<00:02:18.864> years<00:02:19.409> later,<00:02:20.211> we're<00:02:20.676> a<00:02:20.772> publicly<00:02:21.173> listed<00:02:21.478> company.

00:02:21.879 --> 00:02:30.923
We're<00:02:22.119> in<00:02:22.199> the<00:02:22.263> S&P<00:02:23.178> 500,<00:02:23.819> and<00:02:24.204> these<00:02:24.380> days<00:02:24.685> we're<00:02:25.102> headquartered<00:02:25.808> in<00:02:26.609> the<00:02:26.690> great<00:02:26.850> state<00:02:27.026> of<00:02:27.090> Colorado,<00:02:28.069> but<00:02:28.213> we're<00:02:28.293> doing<00:02:28.470> business<00:02:28.871> in<00:02:28.935> over<00:02:29.079> 150<00:02:30.234> different<00:02:30.554> countries.

00:02:31.132 --> 00:02:35.333
So<00:02:31.501> quite<00:02:31.741> a,<00:02:31.982> quite<00:02:32.302> a<00:02:32.463> progression<00:02:32.960> and<00:02:33.040> ride<00:02:33.377> over<00:02:33.585> the<00:02:33.666> last<00:02:33.922> 46<00:02:35.109> years.

00:02:35.847 --> 00:02:36.777
That's<00:02:36.151> incredible.

00:02:37.354 --> 00:02:48.846
Um,<00:02:38.092> tell<00:02:38.332> us,<00:02:38.493> like,<00:02:38.717> I,<00:02:38.958> I'm<00:02:39.278> interested<00:02:39.599> in,<00:02:39.695> like,<00:02:39.872> how<00:02:40.096> it's<00:02:40.321> used,<00:02:40.962> uh,<00:02:41.219> bridging<00:02:41.780> the<00:02:42.646> actual<00:02:43.062> world,<00:02:43.767> the<00:02:43.864> physical<00:02:44.328> world<00:02:44.905> with<00:02:45.065> the<00:02:45.225> digital<00:02:45.626> world,<00:02:46.908> in<00:02:46.988> particular<00:02:47.372> like<00:02:47.533> around<00:02:47.933> agriculture.

00:02:48.894 --> 00:02:54.326
That<00:02:48.991> might<00:02:49.151> be<00:02:49.295> a<00:02:49.311> good<00:02:49.471> example<00:02:49.952> for<00:02:50.176> you<00:02:50.272> to<00:02:50.433> kind<00:02:50.593> of,<00:02:51.218> kind<00:02:51.458> of<00:02:51.538> just<00:02:51.714> explain<00:02:52.115> how<00:02:52.195> the<00:02:52.355> technology<00:02:53.316> bridges<00:02:53.701> those<00:02:53.877> two<00:02:54.102> things.

00:02:55.720 --> 00:03:09.419
So<00:02:56.024> with<00:02:56.184> that<00:02:56.986> origin<00:02:57.322> story<00:02:57.739> and<00:02:57.883> positioning<00:02:58.444> technologies,<00:02:59.405> GPS<00:03:00.526> namely,<00:03:01.952> we<00:03:02.064> eventually<00:03:03.635> got<00:03:03.811> in<00:03:03.891> the<00:03:03.987> late<00:03:04.292> '90s,<00:03:04.692> started<00:03:05.173> thinking<00:03:05.493> about<00:03:06.294> how—<00:03:06.519> and<00:03:06.615> we<00:03:06.759> were<00:03:06.839> in<00:03:06.935> a<00:03:06.951> survey<00:03:07.496> business<00:03:07.832> and<00:03:07.896> we're<00:03:07.993> still<00:03:08.217> in<00:03:08.313> survey<00:03:09.258> today.

00:03:09.483 --> 00:03:11.261
It<00:03:09.643> was<00:03:09.755> a<00:03:09.819> very,<00:03:10.043> very<00:03:10.140> important<00:03:10.524> market<00:03:10.925> for<00:03:11.085> us.

00:03:11.806 --> 00:03:16.553
We<00:03:11.886> started<00:03:12.127> thinking<00:03:12.448> about<00:03:12.608> our<00:03:12.704> survey<00:03:13.025> technology<00:03:13.490> and<00:03:13.554> the<00:03:13.650> positioning<00:03:13.971> technology<00:03:14.548> and<00:03:14.645> saying,<00:03:14.869> well,<00:03:15.014> what<00:03:15.126> if<00:03:15.254> you<00:03:15.350> could<00:03:15.511> put<00:03:15.671> that<00:03:15.896> on<00:03:15.992> the<00:03:16.072> tractor?

00:03:17.515 --> 00:03:21.011
And<00:03:17.836> on<00:03:17.916> a<00:03:17.980> farm,<00:03:19.183> what<00:03:19.344> would<00:03:19.504> high<00:03:19.680> precision<00:03:20.226> GPS<00:03:20.819> mean?

00:03:21.589 --> 00:03:22.423
Well,<00:03:21.669> you<00:03:21.701> know<00:03:21.894> what<00:03:22.022> it<00:03:22.102> means?

00:03:22.808 --> 00:03:26.657
It<00:03:22.952> means<00:03:23.209> that<00:03:23.305> you<00:03:23.433> can<00:03:23.610> put<00:03:23.850> the<00:03:23.946> seed<00:03:25.358> in<00:03:25.454> the<00:03:25.550> exact<00:03:25.919> right<00:03:26.175> place.

00:03:26.801 --> 00:03:29.752
So<00:03:27.058> think<00:03:27.218> within<00:03:27.779> 1<00:03:27.940> to<00:03:28.020> 2<00:03:28.196> centimeter<00:03:28.822> level<00:03:29.078> of<00:03:29.206> accuracy.

00:03:30.409 --> 00:03:33.440
When<00:03:30.489> you're<00:03:30.586> putting<00:03:30.842> the<00:03:30.922> seed<00:03:31.227> in<00:03:31.307> the<00:03:31.452> exact<00:03:31.788> right<00:03:32.109> place,<00:03:32.430> you<00:03:32.655> optimize<00:03:33.071> yield.

00:03:33.729 --> 00:03:37.530
If<00:03:33.857> you<00:03:34.018> plant<00:03:34.274> too<00:03:34.435> close<00:03:34.739> together,<00:03:35.236> you're<00:03:35.397> fighting<00:03:35.782> for<00:03:35.942> nutrients<00:03:36.439> and<00:03:36.503> you<00:03:36.600> don't<00:03:36.760> get<00:03:36.920> as<00:03:37.065> much<00:03:37.241> yield.

00:03:37.578 --> 00:03:42.212
If<00:03:37.947> you<00:03:38.027> plant<00:03:38.268> too<00:03:38.364> far<00:03:38.588> apart,<00:03:39.005> by<00:03:39.085> definition,<00:03:39.631> you're<00:03:39.727> not<00:03:39.967> getting<00:03:40.850> the<00:03:41.074> optimal<00:03:41.892> yield.

00:03:42.517 --> 00:03:45.561
Yield<00:03:42.853> means<00:03:43.414> revenue<00:03:44.376> for<00:03:45.177> a<00:03:45.193> farmer.

00:03:46.299 --> 00:03:50.802
GPS<00:03:46.779> guidance<00:03:47.164> has<00:03:47.404> really<00:03:47.821> become<00:03:48.141> almost<00:03:48.398> a<00:03:48.462> de<00:03:48.542> facto<00:03:48.879> standard<00:03:49.407> of<00:03:49.568> how<00:03:50.225> farming<00:03:50.545> is<00:03:50.625> done.

00:03:50.866 --> 00:04:01.330
So<00:03:50.962> we<00:03:51.122> literally<00:03:51.507> invented<00:03:51.907> the<00:03:51.987> precision<00:03:52.452> agriculture<00:03:53.029> market,<00:03:54.071> did<00:03:54.215> the<00:03:54.247> same<00:03:54.551> thing<00:03:54.856> in<00:03:55.016> heavy<00:03:55.337> construction<00:03:56.074> industries,<00:03:56.635> putting<00:03:56.939> that<00:03:57.115> high-precision<00:03:57.676> GPS<00:03:58.782> on<00:03:58.942> dozers,<00:03:59.503> motor<00:03:59.760> graders,<00:04:00.865> excavators.

00:04:01.378 --> 00:04:11.301
So<00:04:01.747> you<00:04:01.811> have<00:04:01.907> the<00:04:01.987> high-precision<00:04:03.125> GPS,<00:04:04.006> we<00:04:04.086> control<00:04:04.391> the<00:04:04.471> hydraulics,<00:04:05.528> and<00:04:05.593> then<00:04:05.689> we<00:04:05.833> have<00:04:06.410> a<00:04:06.570> digital<00:04:06.891> model,<00:04:07.612> So<00:04:07.708> if<00:04:07.772> we're<00:04:07.868> talking<00:04:07.997> about<00:04:08.157> the<00:04:08.237> work<00:04:08.414> in<00:04:08.478> the<00:04:08.510> physical<00:04:08.959> world,<00:04:09.537> it's<00:04:09.697> guided<00:04:10.098> by<00:04:10.499> a<00:04:10.579> digital<00:04:10.884> model.

00:04:11.525 --> 00:04:13.194
It's<00:04:11.846> guided<00:04:12.183> by<00:04:12.279> a<00:04:12.424> digital<00:04:12.728> prescription.

00:04:13.290 --> 00:04:21.999
That<00:04:13.386> digital<00:04:13.691> prescription<00:04:14.252> could<00:04:14.348> tell<00:04:14.589> you<00:04:14.749> where<00:04:14.910> to<00:04:14.990> put<00:04:15.134> the<00:04:15.214> seed,<00:04:15.471> that<00:04:15.615> digital,<00:04:16.257> on<00:04:16.289> a<00:04:16.353> farm,<00:04:16.674> that<00:04:16.834> digital<00:04:17.235> prescription<00:04:18.438> could<00:04:18.583> tell<00:04:18.759> you<00:04:19.160> what's<00:04:19.385> the<00:04:19.481> weaker<00:04:19.802> part<00:04:20.042> of<00:04:20.074> the<00:04:20.123> soil<00:04:20.684> or<00:04:20.828> the<00:04:20.860> stronger<00:04:21.325> part<00:04:21.566> of<00:04:21.598> the<00:04:21.710> soil.

00:04:22.208 --> 00:04:25.223
And<00:04:22.288> then<00:04:22.448> let's<00:04:22.673> variably<00:04:23.234> rate<00:04:23.571> apply<00:04:24.533> accordingly.

00:04:26.057 --> 00:04:32.152
And<00:04:26.121> what<00:04:26.282> you<00:04:26.378> do<00:04:26.554> when<00:04:26.683> you<00:04:26.779> do<00:04:26.923> that<00:04:27.084> is<00:04:27.164> you're<00:04:27.324> optimizing<00:04:28.126> the,<00:04:28.784> the,<00:04:28.944> the<00:04:29.089> placement<00:04:30.131> of<00:04:30.227> the<00:04:30.308> fertilizer<00:04:30.789> or<00:04:30.885> the<00:04:30.933> herbicide,<00:04:31.430> the<00:04:31.511> pesticide.

00:04:32.713 --> 00:04:35.729
And<00:04:32.778> when<00:04:32.858> you<00:04:33.018> optimize<00:04:33.371> that,<00:04:33.580> you're<00:04:33.660> actually<00:04:33.981> bringing<00:04:34.317> down<00:04:34.654> the<00:04:34.783> amount<00:04:35.184> that's<00:04:35.296> applied.

00:04:36.066 --> 00:04:37.142
You're<00:04:36.162> saving<00:04:36.467> the<00:04:36.548> farmer's<00:04:36.949> money.

00:04:37.206 --> 00:04:39.646
So<00:04:37.350> you're<00:04:37.447> simultaneously<00:04:38.089> helping<00:04:38.330> the<00:04:38.410> top<00:04:38.731> line<00:04:38.972> and<00:04:39.052> the<00:04:39.133> bottom<00:04:39.454> line.

00:04:39.855 --> 00:04:41.718
Put<00:04:40.417> that<00:04:40.578> into<00:04:40.754> a<00:04:40.819> bigger<00:04:41.059> context.

00:04:42.408 --> 00:04:47.209
We're<00:04:42.488> gonna<00:04:42.601> need<00:04:42.842> 69%<00:04:43.789> more<00:04:43.950> calories<00:04:44.431> to<00:04:44.576> feed<00:04:44.736> the<00:04:44.833> world's<00:04:45.058> growing<00:04:45.298> population<00:04:46.198> by<00:04:46.358> the<00:04:46.503> year<00:04:46.663> 2050.

00:04:47.864 --> 00:04:53.311
And<00:04:47.884> we're<00:04:47.980> gonna<00:04:48.076> need<00:04:48.285> to<00:04:48.365> do<00:04:48.526> so<00:04:48.991> on<00:04:49.248> the<00:04:49.393> same<00:04:49.650> amount<00:04:49.891> of<00:04:49.971> arable<00:04:50.292> land<00:04:51.737> with<00:04:51.898> a<00:04:51.914> lot<00:04:52.139> of<00:04:52.203> climate<00:04:52.540> change<00:04:53.006> happening.

00:04:53.728 --> 00:04:54.547
How<00:04:53.841> are<00:04:53.889> we<00:04:53.985> gonna<00:04:54.146> do<00:04:54.306> that?

00:04:55.430 --> 00:04:56.410
Technology,<00:04:55.992> my<00:04:56.088> friend.

00:04:56.699 --> 00:04:57.598
That's<00:04:56.859> how<00:04:56.955> we're<00:04:57.100> gonna<00:04:57.277> do<00:04:57.437> it.

00:04:58.417 --> 00:05:01.018
So<00:04:58.963> what<00:04:59.107> you're<00:04:59.219> doing<00:04:59.460> is<00:04:59.605> critical<00:05:00.392> on<00:05:00.552> that<00:05:00.793> front.

00:05:02.736 --> 00:05:06.878
Well,<00:05:02.896> we<00:05:02.993> say<00:05:03.217> that<00:05:03.603> our,<00:05:03.779> the<00:05:03.860> why<00:05:04.101> of<00:05:04.245> Trimble<00:05:04.582> is<00:05:04.743> feed<00:05:04.984> the<00:05:05.064> world,<00:05:05.385> move<00:05:05.690> the<00:05:05.770> world,<00:05:06.268> build<00:05:06.493> the<00:05:06.573> world.

00:05:07.472 --> 00:05:10.459
The<00:05:07.552> mission<00:05:07.858> of<00:05:07.954> Trimble<00:05:08.275> is<00:05:08.436> to<00:05:08.516> transform<00:05:09.640> the<00:05:09.704> way<00:05:09.881> the<00:05:09.961> world<00:05:10.186> works.

00:05:10.683 --> 00:05:12.530
We<00:05:10.780> don't<00:05:10.924> say<00:05:11.020> make<00:05:11.245> the<00:05:11.326> world<00:05:11.550> work<00:05:11.791> a<00:05:11.807> little<00:05:12.032> bit<00:05:12.209> better.

00:05:12.674 --> 00:05:17.395
We<00:05:12.754> have<00:05:12.931> a<00:05:12.947> mission<00:05:13.332> of<00:05:13.413> transformation<00:05:14.697> because<00:05:14.938> we're<00:05:15.034> serving<00:05:15.420> industries<00:05:15.885> that<00:05:15.982> are<00:05:16.062> in<00:05:16.142> need<00:05:16.367> of<00:05:16.447> digital<00:05:16.768> transformation.

00:05:17.989 --> 00:05:21.007
That's<00:05:18.856> the<00:05:18.936> compelling<00:05:19.418> why<00:05:19.594> and<00:05:19.674> the<00:05:19.819> purpose<00:05:20.140> within<00:05:20.381> agriculture.

00:05:21.521 --> 00:05:25.936
You<00:05:21.601> look<00:05:21.778> at<00:05:21.906> construction,<00:05:22.500> it's<00:05:22.661> a<00:05:22.709> market<00:05:23.110> where<00:05:23.207> 80%<00:05:23.608> of<00:05:23.769> projects<00:05:24.186> are<00:05:24.314> late<00:05:24.555> and<00:05:24.636> 40%<00:05:24.989> are<00:05:25.358> over<00:05:25.615> budget.

00:05:26.562 --> 00:05:28.713
The<00:05:26.643> cost<00:05:27.060> of<00:05:27.124> that<00:05:27.766> lack<00:05:28.023> of<00:05:28.103> productivity.

00:05:28.922 --> 00:05:30.446
It's<00:05:29.082> about<00:05:29.291> $1.6<00:05:29.868> trillion<00:05:30.253> a<00:05:30.334> year.

00:05:30.510 --> 00:05:31.714
That's<00:05:30.671> the<00:05:30.751> GDP<00:05:31.232> of<00:05:31.377> Canada.

00:05:32.436 --> 00:05:34.153
Technology<00:05:33.078> can<00:05:33.222> help<00:05:33.543> improve<00:05:33.960> that.

00:05:34.923 --> 00:05:37.169
We<00:05:35.083> look<00:05:35.308> at<00:05:35.404> the<00:05:35.549> world<00:05:35.805> we<00:05:35.950> have<00:05:36.223> in<00:05:36.511> transportation.

00:05:37.233 --> 00:05:40.025
We've<00:05:37.394> all<00:05:37.490> been<00:05:37.651> living<00:05:37.891> through<00:05:38.052> supply<00:05:38.453> chain<00:05:38.694> challenges<00:05:39.175> these<00:05:39.335> last<00:05:39.576> few<00:05:39.737> years.

00:05:40.523 --> 00:05:45.754
In<00:05:40.619> North<00:05:40.796> America,<00:05:42.368> one<00:05:42.464> of<00:05:42.529> the<00:05:42.625> biggest<00:05:42.930> issues<00:05:43.267> is<00:05:43.764> simply<00:05:44.149> that<00:05:44.390> of<00:05:45.016> driver<00:05:45.337> turnover.

00:05:45.898 --> 00:05:51.531
You<00:05:45.930> know<00:05:46.043> how<00:05:46.155> many—<00:05:46.460> what,<00:05:47.022> take<00:05:47.198> a<00:05:47.262> guess,<00:05:47.503> Clint,<00:05:48.081> what<00:05:48.706> percent<00:05:49.364> of<00:05:49.445> drivers<00:05:50.070> leave<00:05:50.311> trucking<00:05:50.568> companies<00:05:51.129> every<00:05:51.354> year?

00:05:51.884 --> 00:05:52.878
Think<00:05:52.108> about<00:05:52.333> a<00:05:52.413> workforce.

00:05:52.959 --> 00:05:55.093
What<00:05:53.135> percent<00:05:53.617> attrition<00:05:54.098> do<00:05:54.162> you<00:05:54.258> think<00:05:54.435> they<00:05:54.563> have<00:05:54.756> every<00:05:54.964> year?

00:05:55.350 --> 00:05:56.842
Man,<00:05:55.783> 20%<00:05:56.489> would<00:05:56.649> be<00:05:56.809> high.

00:05:58.013 --> 00:05:58.606
It<00:05:58.109> would<00:05:58.269> be<00:05:58.414> high.

00:05:58.911 --> 00:05:59.505
It's<00:05:59.136> 86%.

00:06:00.756 --> 00:06:02.890
What<00:06:01.895> a<00:06:01.959> stunning<00:06:02.601> number.

00:06:02.938 --> 00:06:07.831
So<00:06:03.147> think<00:06:03.468> about,<00:06:04.350> um,<00:06:04.927> losing<00:06:05.313> your<00:06:05.409> entire<00:06:05.890> workforce,<00:06:06.837> um,<00:06:07.077> every<00:06:07.254> single<00:06:07.639> year.

00:06:08.297 --> 00:06:11.971
And<00:06:08.441> one<00:06:08.553> of<00:06:08.617> the<00:06:08.762> reasons<00:06:09.339> that<00:06:09.420> they<00:06:09.580> lose<00:06:09.885> the<00:06:09.981> workforce<00:06:10.527> like<00:06:10.703> that<00:06:10.960> is<00:06:11.088> it's<00:06:11.200> a<00:06:11.265> tough<00:06:11.569> job.

00:06:12.307 --> 00:06:19.367
And<00:06:12.452> when<00:06:12.612> you<00:06:12.773> can<00:06:13.414> help<00:06:13.607> drivers<00:06:14.072> get<00:06:14.313> paid<00:06:14.698> and<00:06:14.778> have<00:06:15.035> better<00:06:15.356> routes,<00:06:16.062> more<00:06:16.158> efficient<00:06:16.623> routes,<00:06:17.425> um,<00:06:17.746> you<00:06:17.842> can<00:06:18.003> drive<00:06:18.340> driver<00:06:18.645> retention<00:06:19.190> up.

00:06:19.752 --> 00:06:21.853
We<00:06:19.864> save<00:06:20.153> drivers<00:06:20.650> an<00:06:20.714> average<00:06:20.987> of<00:06:21.115> 20<00:06:21.372> minutes<00:06:21.693> a<00:06:21.757> day.

00:06:22.014 --> 00:06:23.698
We<00:06:22.094> don't<00:06:22.254> have<00:06:22.415> a<00:06:22.431> driver<00:06:22.752> shortage<00:06:23.121> in<00:06:23.169> North<00:06:23.361> America.

00:06:23.795 --> 00:06:24.388
20<00:06:24.035> minutes.

00:06:25.126 --> 00:06:27.567
Technology<00:06:26.427> can<00:06:26.588> be<00:06:26.684> applied<00:06:27.069> to<00:06:27.133> help<00:06:27.374> this.

00:06:28.739 --> 00:06:35.547
How<00:06:29.060> does<00:06:30.040> artificial<00:06:30.586> intelligence<00:06:31.244> play<00:06:31.870> a<00:06:32.031> role<00:06:32.368> in<00:06:32.593> how<00:06:32.769> you're<00:06:32.946> thinking<00:06:33.396> and<00:06:33.492> developing<00:06:33.974> your<00:06:34.134> technologies<00:06:34.760> and<00:06:34.841> your<00:06:34.937> solutions?

00:06:36.061 --> 00:06:41.504
I'm<00:06:36.205> sure<00:06:36.784> like<00:06:37.024> when<00:06:37.185> you<00:06:37.329> hear<00:06:37.506> artificial<00:06:38.052> intelligence,<00:06:38.373> like<00:06:38.614> a<00:06:38.630> lot<00:06:38.791> of<00:06:38.855> people<00:06:39.031> who've<00:06:39.192> been<00:06:39.288> in<00:06:39.369> software<00:06:39.738> for<00:06:39.834> a<00:06:39.898> long<00:06:40.075> time,<00:06:40.236> they're<00:06:40.348> like,<00:06:40.782> yeah,<00:06:40.878> this<00:06:41.039> is<00:06:41.103> nothing<00:06:41.360> new.

00:06:41.761 --> 00:06:56.822
Large<00:06:42.066> language<00:06:42.403> models<00:06:43.190> is<00:06:43.351> a<00:06:43.447> thing,<00:06:43.608> but<00:06:43.720> like<00:06:44.651> the<00:06:44.796> rapid<00:06:45.133> development<00:06:45.615> of<00:06:45.775> it<00:06:45.952> is<00:06:46.096> new<00:06:46.337> and<00:06:46.979> just<00:06:47.220> like<00:06:47.445> the<00:06:48.906> public,<00:06:50.400> just<00:06:50.576> like<00:06:50.737> it<00:06:51.218> being<00:06:51.540> talked<00:06:51.812> about<00:06:52.053> so<00:06:52.278> publicly<00:06:53.145> in<00:06:53.386> every<00:06:53.804> sector<00:06:54.349> of<00:06:54.446> the<00:06:54.606> economy,<00:06:55.409> in<00:06:55.489> every<00:06:55.730> part<00:06:55.955> of<00:06:55.987> the<00:06:56.116> world,<00:06:56.453> is<00:06:56.613> new.

00:06:57.737 --> 00:06:59.777
How<00:06:57.898> are<00:06:58.059> you<00:06:58.219> thinking<00:06:58.556> about<00:06:58.926> it<00:06:59.247> at<00:06:59.343> Trimble?

00:06:59.905 --> 00:07:02.522
And<00:07:00.290> it<00:07:00.387> even<00:07:00.628> just<00:07:00.852> generally,<00:07:01.270> like,<00:07:01.495> how's<00:07:01.687> it<00:07:01.752> going<00:07:01.864> to<00:07:01.976> change<00:07:02.217> things?

00:07:03.903 --> 00:07:09.073
I've<00:07:03.999> listened<00:07:04.305> to<00:07:04.465> a<00:07:04.481> number<00:07:04.802> of<00:07:04.947> your,<00:07:05.364> your<00:07:05.589> guests<00:07:06.071> on<00:07:06.167> your<00:07:06.472> podcast,<00:07:07.195> um,<00:07:07.371> talk<00:07:07.676> about<00:07:08.094> artificial<00:07:08.495> intelligence.

00:07:09.314 --> 00:07:14.356
I<00:07:09.603> think<00:07:09.764> I—<00:07:09.956> here's<00:07:10.165> how—<00:07:10.502> what<00:07:10.663> I'd<00:07:10.807> want<00:07:10.952> to<00:07:11.129> add<00:07:11.289> to<00:07:11.450> it<00:07:11.691> is<00:07:12.269> I<00:07:12.349> think<00:07:12.429> there's<00:07:12.590> a<00:07:12.670> garbage<00:07:13.136> in,<00:07:13.232> garbage<00:07:13.617> out<00:07:13.794> topic.

00:07:15.079 --> 00:07:23.624
The<00:07:16.026> the<00:07:16.683> ability<00:07:17.164> to<00:07:17.244> have<00:07:17.645> domain-specific<00:07:19.167> data,<00:07:20.209> we<00:07:20.370> think,<00:07:20.674> is<00:07:20.915> critical<00:07:21.396> to<00:07:21.508> the<00:07:21.652> quality<00:07:22.037> of<00:07:22.117> the<00:07:22.277> output<00:07:22.550> of<00:07:22.694> artificial<00:07:23.111> intelligence.

00:07:23.880 --> 00:07:31.638
So<00:07:23.912> if<00:07:23.976> you<00:07:24.056> take<00:07:24.361> a,<00:07:24.602> one<00:07:24.714> of<00:07:24.778> the<00:07:24.922> large<00:07:25.259> language<00:07:25.820> models,<00:07:26.204> and<00:07:26.269> there's<00:07:26.397> a<00:07:26.445> number<00:07:26.782> of<00:07:26.942> them<00:07:27.102> now,<00:07:27.423> they're<00:07:28.048> more<00:07:28.144> or<00:07:28.208> less<00:07:28.384> scraping<00:07:29.426> the<00:07:29.667> internet<00:07:30.132> to<00:07:30.228> create<00:07:30.613> those<00:07:31.174> LLMs.

00:07:32.873 --> 00:07:39.798
So<00:07:33.033> in<00:07:33.113> theory,<00:07:33.594> or<00:07:33.819> maybe<00:07:33.995> in<00:07:34.075> principle,<00:07:34.508> maybe<00:07:34.780> in<00:07:34.860> reality,<00:07:35.678> it's<00:07:35.838> the<00:07:35.902> same<00:07:36.239> dataset<00:07:37.185> that<00:07:37.281> everybody<00:07:38.323> potentially<00:07:38.868> has<00:07:39.188> access<00:07:39.589> to.

00:07:40.359 --> 00:07:50.634
Now,<00:07:40.487> if<00:07:40.631> you<00:07:40.711> think<00:07:40.872> about<00:07:41.064> applying<00:07:41.465> it<00:07:41.545> into<00:07:41.705> the<00:07:41.833> markets<00:07:42.250> we're<00:07:42.346> serving,<00:07:43.116> agriculture,<00:07:43.757> transportation,<00:07:45.039> construction,<00:07:46.578> we<00:07:46.738> think<00:07:47.043> the,<00:07:47.524> the,<00:07:47.716> the<00:07:47.845> knowledge<00:07:48.422> of<00:07:48.518> the<00:07:48.598> specific<00:07:49.223> vertical<00:07:49.640> market<00:07:50.249> matters.

00:07:51.548 --> 00:07:58.825
So<00:07:51.660> to<00:07:51.708> give<00:07:51.868> you<00:07:52.573> some<00:07:52.670> data<00:07:52.910> points<00:07:53.151> behind<00:07:53.455> that,<00:07:53.792> in<00:07:53.936> construction,<00:07:54.914> we<00:07:55.074> manage<00:07:55.411> at<00:07:55.539> Trimble<00:07:55.812> over<00:07:56.036> a<00:07:56.116> trillion<00:07:56.517> dollars<00:07:57.463> of<00:07:57.799> projects<00:07:58.264> through<00:07:58.344> our<00:07:58.441> systems.

00:07:58.905 --> 00:08:07.674
We<00:07:58.937> have<00:07:59.066> tens<00:07:59.306> of<00:07:59.386> millions<00:07:59.739> of<00:07:59.867> users<00:08:00.188> of<00:08:00.268> our<00:08:00.364> software,<00:08:00.829> hundreds<00:08:01.166> of<00:08:01.246> thousands<00:08:01.631> of<00:08:01.727> instruments<00:08:02.192> and<00:08:02.272> machines<00:08:02.753> in<00:08:02.833> the<00:08:02.929> world,<00:08:03.570> real<00:08:03.811> world,<00:08:04.051> the<00:08:04.131> physical<00:08:04.452> world,<00:08:05.093> utilize<00:08:06.119> our<00:08:06.456> technology<00:08:07.321> today.

00:08:08.059 --> 00:08:13.028
And<00:08:08.299> transportation,<00:08:09.020> over<00:08:09.181> $60<00:08:09.581> billion<00:08:10.367> of<00:08:10.447> freight<00:08:10.864> moves<00:08:11.184> through<00:08:12.066> our<00:08:12.226> systems<00:08:12.787> today.

00:08:13.108 --> 00:08:19.094
And<00:08:13.172> agriculture,<00:08:13.894> over<00:08:14.054> 180<00:08:14.791> million<00:08:14.920> 1<00:08:15.000> million<00:08:15.160> acres<00:08:15.369> of<00:08:15.433> farmland<00:08:16.878> are<00:08:16.975> managed<00:08:17.505> through<00:08:17.762> Trimble<00:08:18.468> technology.

00:08:19.608 --> 00:08:28.809
There's<00:08:19.769> a<00:08:19.849> profound<00:08:21.037> awareness<00:08:21.679> we<00:08:21.776> have<00:08:22.033> about<00:08:22.338> the<00:08:22.482> work<00:08:22.723> happening<00:08:23.221> in<00:08:23.301> the<00:08:23.462> physical<00:08:24.008> and<00:08:24.104> the<00:08:24.265> digital<00:08:24.730> world,<00:08:25.003> in<00:08:25.132> the<00:08:25.292> office,<00:08:25.694> in<00:08:25.774> the<00:08:25.854> field,<00:08:26.737> within<00:08:27.075> the<00:08:27.155> domains<00:08:27.781> that<00:08:28.102> we're<00:08:28.504> serving.

00:08:28.985 --> 00:08:31.699
We<00:08:29.322> deeply<00:08:29.724> understand<00:08:30.270> the<00:08:30.350> markets<00:08:30.928> that<00:08:31.089> we<00:08:31.185> serve.

00:08:32.277 --> 00:08:35.601
That<00:08:32.534> data<00:08:32.791> set,<00:08:33.818> I<00:08:33.963> think,<00:08:34.140> is<00:08:34.284> unique<00:08:35.103> and<00:08:35.199> special.

00:08:35.665 --> 00:08:39.824
And<00:08:36.468> you're<00:08:36.612> right,<00:08:36.933> the<00:08:37.094> AI<00:08:37.271> has<00:08:37.511> been—<00:08:37.672> and<00:08:37.817> ML<00:08:38.138> has<00:08:38.395> been<00:08:38.555> around<00:08:38.941> for<00:08:39.197> a<00:08:39.262> long<00:08:39.502> time.

00:08:40.064 --> 00:08:40.851
We're<00:08:40.305> no<00:08:40.482> different.

00:08:40.899 --> 00:08:42.698
We've<00:08:41.044> been<00:08:41.269> working<00:08:41.526> with<00:08:41.686> these<00:08:41.911> things<00:08:42.152> for<00:08:42.232> a<00:08:42.312> long<00:08:42.489> time.

00:08:43.291 --> 00:08:48.238
Maybe<00:08:43.532> we<00:08:43.676> missed<00:08:43.933> a<00:08:44.014> branding<00:08:44.480> opportunity<00:08:45.058> to<00:08:45.283> be<00:08:45.379> talking<00:08:45.845> about<00:08:46.327> this<00:08:46.985> for<00:08:47.532> a<00:08:47.628> lot<00:08:47.853> of<00:08:47.949> years.

00:08:48.286 --> 00:08:50.487
I'll,<00:08:48.897> I'll<00:08:49.298> give<00:08:49.491> you,<00:08:49.555> I'll<00:08:49.877> give<00:08:50.053> you<00:08:50.118> that<00:08:50.343> one.

00:08:51.387 --> 00:08:54.423
There's,<00:08:52.029> I'd<00:08:52.126> say<00:08:52.286> there's<00:08:52.511> a<00:08:52.591> lot<00:08:52.832> that's,<00:08:53.009> or<00:08:53.105> so<00:08:53.411> there's<00:08:53.555> a<00:08:53.571> lot<00:08:53.732> that's<00:08:53.892> been<00:08:54.101> happening.

00:08:54.535 --> 00:08:58.454
I<00:08:54.615> think<00:08:54.776> to<00:08:54.840> your<00:08:55.017> point,<00:08:55.900> there's<00:08:56.125> opportunities<00:08:56.703> for<00:08:56.848> this<00:08:57.089> work<00:08:57.667> to<00:08:57.748> accelerate.

00:08:59.257 --> 00:09:03.787
I<00:08:59.273> also<00:08:59.579> think<00:08:59.755> about<00:09:00.462> anchoring<00:09:00.944> in<00:09:01.040> the<00:09:01.201> problems<00:09:01.844> that<00:09:02.068> we're<00:09:02.229> trying<00:09:02.486> to<00:09:02.550> solve,<00:09:02.952> the<00:09:03.048> customer<00:09:03.530> problem.

00:09:03.851 --> 00:09:05.956
So<00:09:03.932> it's<00:09:04.028> not<00:09:04.317> AI<00:09:04.655> for<00:09:04.751> AI's<00:09:05.313> sake<00:09:05.634> as<00:09:05.843> well.

00:09:06.004 --> 00:09:08.478
What<00:09:06.181> problems<00:09:07.626> are<00:09:07.771> we<00:09:07.867> trying<00:09:08.108> to<00:09:08.204> solve?

00:09:08.526 --> 00:09:11.128
So<00:09:08.606> let's<00:09:08.815> go<00:09:08.911> back<00:09:09.136> to<00:09:09.216> that<00:09:09.377> agriculture<00:09:10.678> example.

00:09:12.546 --> 00:09:15.419
We<00:09:12.707> have<00:09:12.885> a<00:09:12.949> technology<00:09:14.063> that's<00:09:14.241> called<00:09:14.402> selective<00:09:14.902> spraying.

00:09:16.177 --> 00:09:19.954
And<00:09:16.258> what<00:09:16.419> that<00:09:16.581> enables<00:09:16.984> you<00:09:17.146> to<00:09:17.226> do<00:09:17.452> is<00:09:17.485> see<00:09:17.969> the<00:09:18.114> difference<00:09:18.517> between<00:09:18.921> the<00:09:19.082> weed<00:09:19.405> and<00:09:19.486> the<00:09:19.566> crop.

00:09:20.212 --> 00:09:22.604
And<00:09:20.293> so<00:09:20.438> you<00:09:20.599> only<00:09:20.841> would<00:09:21.003> spot<00:09:21.310> spray<00:09:22.232> the<00:09:22.313> weed.

00:09:23.349 --> 00:09:26.844
Your<00:09:23.430> ability<00:09:23.850> to<00:09:24.012> do<00:09:24.158> that<00:09:24.417> can<00:09:24.579> reduce<00:09:24.902> the<00:09:24.983> herbicide<00:09:25.533> usage<00:09:25.954> by<00:09:26.262> 80<00:09:26.440> to<00:09:26.521> 90%.

00:09:27.006 --> 00:09:30.505
That's<00:09:28.786> a<00:09:28.867> profoundly<00:09:29.676> positive<00:09:30.162> impact.

00:09:30.570 --> 00:09:32.119
And<00:09:30.635> what<00:09:30.749> are<00:09:30.814> the,<00:09:30.880> so<00:09:31.043> what's<00:09:31.206> the<00:09:31.238> problem<00:09:31.483> you're<00:09:31.565> trying<00:09:31.793> to<00:09:31.858> solve?

00:09:32.201 --> 00:09:37.888
Hey,<00:09:32.413> you're<00:09:32.527> trying<00:09:32.706> to<00:09:32.771> have<00:09:32.934> an<00:09:33.000> environmental,<00:09:34.530> positive<00:09:34.808> environmental<00:09:35.447> impact<00:09:36.348> in<00:09:36.446> the<00:09:36.594> work<00:09:37.019> and<00:09:37.101> you're<00:09:37.183> trying<00:09:37.429> to<00:09:37.511> save<00:09:37.757> money.

00:09:38.908 --> 00:09:41.027
Because<00:09:39.165> farm<00:09:39.406> income<00:09:40.224> is<00:09:40.353> a<00:09:40.433> big<00:09:40.610> deal,<00:09:40.851> right?

00:09:41.075 --> 00:09:43.467
That<00:09:41.316> yield<00:09:41.573> minus<00:09:41.814> the<00:09:41.894> input<00:09:42.279> cost<00:09:42.777> equals<00:09:43.018> the<00:09:43.098> profit.

00:09:43.644 --> 00:09:48.669
We<00:09:43.740> can<00:09:43.901> save<00:09:44.206> money<00:09:44.928> and<00:09:45.009> allow<00:09:45.249> farmers<00:09:45.667> to<00:09:45.731> invest<00:09:46.148> back<00:09:46.405> into<00:09:46.871> their,<00:09:47.834> into<00:09:48.091> their<00:09:48.316> business.

00:09:48.942 --> 00:09:52.714
And<00:09:49.183> transportation<00:09:50.499> safety<00:09:51.671> is<00:09:51.767> a<00:09:51.848> topic,<00:09:52.233> is<00:09:52.329> an<00:09:52.409> issue.

00:09:52.795 --> 00:10:02.861
We<00:09:52.891> have<00:09:53.437> driver-facing<00:09:54.159> cameras,<00:09:55.058> and<00:09:55.123> these<00:09:55.235> driver-facing<00:09:55.941> cameras<00:09:56.343> have<00:09:56.808> AI<00:09:57.145> algorithms<00:09:58.735> that<00:09:58.911> can<00:09:59.152> detect<00:10:00.115> fatigue,<00:10:02.106> driver<00:10:02.427> fatigue.

00:10:03.471 --> 00:10:09.661
And<00:10:03.567> so<00:10:04.033> where<00:10:04.370> we<00:10:04.996> deploy<00:10:05.477> this<00:10:05.717> around<00:10:05.925> the<00:10:06.038> world,<00:10:06.455> we<00:10:06.679> literally—<00:10:07.160> the<00:10:07.256> KPI<00:10:08.795> is<00:10:08.859> saving<00:10:09.244> lives.

00:10:11.007 --> 00:10:12.883
Yeah,<00:10:11.168> that's<00:10:11.328> a<00:10:11.408> pretty<00:10:11.665> good<00:10:11.969> KPI<00:10:12.546> to<00:10:12.771> have.

00:10:12.931 --> 00:10:13.765
That's<00:10:13.412> a<00:10:13.460> cool<00:10:13.572> KPI.

00:10:14.470 --> 00:10:22.341
Through<00:10:14.646> the<00:10:14.855> app,<00:10:15.111> through<00:10:15.272> the<00:10:15.416> application<00:10:15.913> of<00:10:15.993> that<00:10:16.153> technology,<00:10:17.099> um,<00:10:17.275> in<00:10:17.356> a<00:10:17.436> construction<00:10:17.997> market,<00:10:19.183> um,<00:10:19.504> the,<00:10:20.321> uh,<00:10:20.401> construction<00:10:20.802> companies<00:10:21.187> run<00:10:21.347> on<00:10:21.427> very<00:10:21.684> thin<00:10:21.924> margins.

00:10:23.223 --> 00:10:29.635
So<00:10:23.511> when<00:10:23.608> you<00:10:23.752> can<00:10:23.912> help<00:10:24.313> make<00:10:24.569> them<00:10:24.954> more<00:10:25.211> efficient<00:10:26.237> and<00:10:26.317> when<00:10:26.413> you<00:10:26.493> can<00:10:26.637> help<00:10:26.814> them<00:10:27.038> win<00:10:27.279> more<00:10:27.535> work,<00:10:28.080> um,<00:10:28.257> that's<00:10:28.561> what<00:10:28.657> the<00:10:28.738> technology<00:10:29.154> is<00:10:29.299> enabling.

00:10:29.683 --> 00:10:36.734
We<00:10:29.764> have<00:10:29.940> an<00:10:30.244> AI<00:10:31.293> service<00:10:31.635> within<00:10:31.863> our<00:10:31.961> construction<00:10:32.515> ERP<00:10:32.857> system<00:10:33.346> that<00:10:33.574> automates<00:10:33.981> invoice<00:10:34.388> processing,<00:10:34.974> eliminates<00:10:35.479> the<00:10:35.626> double<00:10:36.359> entry.

00:10:37.623 --> 00:10:39.528
And<00:10:37.703> you<00:10:37.784> think,<00:10:38.010> okay,<00:10:38.333> how<00:10:38.510> big<00:10:38.672> a<00:10:38.688> deal<00:10:38.995> is<00:10:39.075> that<00:10:39.302> really?

00:10:39.641 --> 00:10:55.167
Well,<00:10:39.802> the<00:10:39.883> sum<00:10:40.432> of<00:10:40.851> that<00:10:41.094> double<00:10:41.578> entry<00:10:43.515> saves<00:10:44.145> literally<00:10:45.678> hundreds<00:10:46.034> of<00:10:46.114> thousands<00:10:46.502> of<00:10:46.808> hours<00:10:48.193> collectively,<00:10:48.902> right,<00:10:49.143> across<00:10:50.029> our<00:10:50.206> customer<00:10:50.464> universe<00:10:50.770> that<00:10:50.915> can<00:10:51.012> be<00:10:51.157> put<00:10:51.334> into<00:10:51.962> more<00:10:52.300> efficient<00:10:53.428> and<00:10:53.524> effective<00:10:54.797> uses.

00:10:55.522 --> 00:10:58.284
So<00:10:56.091> the<00:10:56.334> applications<00:10:57.130> to<00:10:57.212> me<00:10:57.390> are<00:10:57.553> really<00:10:57.796> profound.

00:10:58.349 --> 00:11:00.022
We<00:10:58.511> really<00:10:58.690> try<00:10:58.852> to<00:10:59.096> ask<00:10:59.259> ourselves<00:10:59.389> what<00:10:59.454> problem<00:10:59.567> are<00:10:59.600> we<00:10:59.649> trying<00:10:59.778> to<00:10:59.892> solve?

00:11:00.071 --> 00:11:08.499
Because<00:11:00.168> ultimately<00:11:00.347> the<00:11:00.380> value<00:11:00.477> proposition<00:11:02.722> of<00:11:02.802> Trimble<00:11:03.861> across<00:11:04.166> the<00:11:04.230> markets<00:11:04.631> we<00:11:04.712> serve<00:11:05.594> is—<00:11:05.691> comes<00:11:05.932> in<00:11:06.012> the<00:11:06.092> form<00:11:06.397> of<00:11:06.493> better,<00:11:06.814> faster,<00:11:07.151> safer,<00:11:07.617> cheaper,<00:11:08.098> greener.

00:11:09.382 --> 00:11:15.401
That's<00:11:09.703> the<00:11:09.880> thing<00:11:10.104> that<00:11:10.249> our<00:11:10.329> customers<00:11:10.746> are<00:11:10.827> trying,<00:11:11.469> um,<00:11:11.629> to<00:11:11.709> solve,<00:11:12.014> not,<00:11:12.416> you<00:11:12.448> know,<00:11:12.737> cool<00:11:12.977> AI<00:11:13.234> stuff<00:11:13.475> for<00:11:13.619> the<00:11:13.699> sake<00:11:13.892> of<00:11:13.956> cool<00:11:14.422> AI<00:11:14.614> stuff,<00:11:14.999> right?

00:11:16.267 --> 00:11:24.854
Uh,<00:11:16.669> how<00:11:16.765> do<00:11:16.813> you<00:11:16.925> decide,<00:11:17.391> with,<00:11:17.728> with<00:11:18.033> all<00:11:18.193> the<00:11:18.290> industries<00:11:18.755> you're<00:11:18.916> in<00:11:19.413> and<00:11:19.558> everything<00:11:19.895> you're<00:11:20.055> working<00:11:20.360> on<00:11:20.456> every<00:11:20.617> day,<00:11:21.179> how<00:11:21.339> do<00:11:21.564> you<00:11:21.740> personally<00:11:22.142> as<00:11:22.302> the<00:11:22.382> CEO<00:11:22.944> decide<00:11:23.329> where<00:11:23.506> to<00:11:23.586> spend<00:11:23.907> your<00:11:24.148> time<00:11:24.469> each<00:11:24.629> day?

00:11:26.218 --> 00:11:27.213
I<00:11:26.298> love<00:11:26.571> this<00:11:26.796> question.

00:11:27.261 --> 00:11:32.312
I<00:11:27.422> love<00:11:27.663> asking<00:11:28.064> other<00:11:28.706> of<00:11:28.866> CEOs<00:11:29.427> and<00:11:29.523> leaders<00:11:29.908> that<00:11:30.020> I<00:11:30.100> meet<00:11:30.469> about<00:11:30.709> how<00:11:31.431> they<00:11:31.527> spend<00:11:31.767> their<00:11:31.928> time.

00:11:32.649 --> 00:11:38.147
You<00:11:32.970> know,<00:11:33.034> I<00:11:33.274> think<00:11:33.451> that<00:11:34.156> we<00:11:34.252> are<00:11:34.653> paid<00:11:35.054> by<00:11:35.294> the<00:11:35.599> shareholders<00:11:36.801> to<00:11:36.897> be<00:11:37.122> capital<00:11:37.602> allocators.

00:11:38.885 --> 00:11:44.143
Capital<00:11:39.286> allocation<00:11:39.847> is<00:11:40.007> time,<00:11:40.344> people,<00:11:41.450> and<00:11:41.546> money,<00:11:41.963> you<00:11:42.107> know,<00:11:42.267> and<00:11:42.492> where<00:11:42.588> am<00:11:42.748> I<00:11:42.844> spending<00:11:43.630> my<00:11:43.870> time?

00:11:44.431 --> 00:11:48.070
I<00:11:44.511> do<00:11:44.672> think<00:11:44.848> about<00:11:45.153> that<00:11:45.329> every<00:11:45.617> once<00:11:45.794> in<00:11:45.858> a<00:11:45.874> while,<00:11:46.114> go<00:11:46.275> back<00:11:46.531> and<00:11:46.675> log<00:11:47.557> the<00:11:47.637> calendar.

00:11:48.118 --> 00:11:49.817
Okay,<00:11:48.278> where<00:11:48.439> did<00:11:48.583> I<00:11:48.679> actually<00:11:49.080> spend<00:11:49.304> the<00:11:49.401> time,<00:11:49.721> right?

00:11:49.882 --> 00:11:52.655
'Cause<00:11:50.042> I<00:11:50.106> have<00:11:50.218> an<00:11:50.427> aspirational<00:11:51.549> view<00:11:51.725> of<00:11:51.869> where<00:11:51.981> to<00:11:52.062> spend<00:11:52.286> the<00:11:52.430> time.

00:11:53.007 --> 00:11:58.249
Not<00:11:53.232> always<00:11:54.129> true<00:11:54.450> that<00:11:54.610> I'm<00:11:54.787> spending<00:11:55.492> that<00:11:55.652> time<00:11:56.117> in<00:11:56.278> reality<00:11:57.416> to<00:11:57.560> the<00:11:57.656> aspiration.

00:11:59.019 --> 00:12:06.505
If<00:11:59.163> I<00:11:59.355> had<00:11:59.500> to<00:11:59.580> roughly<00:11:59.964> think<00:12:00.125> about<00:12:00.445> it,<00:12:00.526> I'd<00:12:00.862> like<00:12:01.087> to<00:12:01.183> think<00:12:01.439> about<00:12:01.808> 50%<00:12:02.609> working<00:12:02.946> on<00:12:03.171> the<00:12:03.267> business,<00:12:03.667> 50%<00:12:04.293> working<00:12:04.854> in<00:12:06.072> the<00:12:06.152> business.

00:12:07.515 --> 00:12:13.382
You<00:12:07.675> know,<00:12:07.899> as<00:12:08.060> you<00:12:08.220> can<00:12:08.332> appreciate,<00:12:09.358> the<00:12:09.518> role<00:12:10.641> in<00:12:10.785> any—<00:12:10.961> well,<00:12:11.121> any<00:12:11.282> job,<00:12:11.602> but<00:12:11.699> I'd<00:12:11.827> say<00:12:11.923> this<00:12:12.147> role<00:12:12.404> is<00:12:12.564> very<00:12:12.885> dynamic.

00:12:13.462 --> 00:12:19.153
In<00:12:13.590> any<00:12:13.766> given<00:12:14.071> day,<00:12:14.792> week,<00:12:15.289> month,<00:12:15.914> quarter,<00:12:16.556> year,<00:12:17.357> there's<00:12:17.678> a<00:12:17.758> different<00:12:18.672> topic.

00:12:19.682 --> 00:12:25.597
And<00:12:20.275> depending<00:12:20.643> on<00:12:20.675> the<00:12:20.756> nature<00:12:21.140> of<00:12:21.220> that<00:12:21.381> topic,<00:12:22.022> you<00:12:22.166> need<00:12:22.375> to<00:12:22.487> allocate<00:12:23.689> your<00:12:24.026> time<00:12:24.811> accordingly,<00:12:25.468> right?

00:12:25.709 --> 00:12:28.594
We<00:12:25.853> all<00:12:26.029> lived<00:12:26.254> through<00:12:27.071> COVID,<00:12:27.456> let's<00:12:27.665> say<00:12:27.793> early<00:12:28.033> 2020.

00:12:28.674 --> 00:12:33.855
Well,<00:12:28.819> guess<00:12:28.995> where<00:12:29.155> we<00:12:29.300> were<00:12:29.460> allocating<00:12:29.893> the<00:12:30.021> time<00:12:30.342> was<00:12:30.742> how<00:12:30.823> are<00:12:30.855> we<00:12:30.935> going<00:12:31.031> to<00:12:31.079> actually<00:12:31.335> manage<00:12:31.961> the<00:12:32.105> team<00:12:32.329> and<00:12:32.410> the<00:12:32.522> business<00:12:33.004> through<00:12:33.181> this<00:12:33.389> crisis.

00:12:34.353 --> 00:12:41.164
We<00:12:34.450> then<00:12:34.691> not<00:12:34.915> too<00:12:35.092> long<00:12:35.879> after<00:12:36.618> had<00:12:37.405> a<00:12:37.438> trade<00:12:37.807> war<00:12:38.450> and<00:12:38.546> we<00:12:38.642> had<00:12:38.803> to<00:12:38.867> manage,<00:12:39.205> okay,<00:12:39.446> how<00:12:39.574> are<00:12:39.654> we<00:12:39.751> gonna<00:12:39.992> go<00:12:40.168> with<00:12:40.377> our<00:12:40.650> supply<00:12:41.036> chains?

00:12:41.277 --> 00:12:43.269
You<00:12:41.341> had<00:12:41.437> to<00:12:41.502> put<00:12:41.662> more<00:12:41.903> time<00:12:42.803> to<00:12:42.964> that.

00:12:43.590 --> 00:12:51.461
We've<00:12:44.008> been<00:12:44.152> living<00:12:44.393> in<00:12:44.554> a<00:12:44.827> supply<00:12:45.132> chain<00:12:45.373> constrained<00:12:46.000> and<00:12:46.080> then<00:12:46.176> inflationary<00:12:46.803> environment<00:12:47.285> that<00:12:47.542> then<00:12:47.767> creates<00:12:48.971> a<00:12:49.068> dynamic<00:12:49.791> that<00:12:49.967> you<00:12:50.112> have<00:12:50.353> to,<00:12:50.674> to<00:12:50.755> manage<00:12:51.156> through.

00:12:51.718 --> 00:12:57.276
And<00:12:52.056> so<00:12:52.746> leadership<00:12:53.164> is<00:12:53.309> very,<00:12:53.791> I'd<00:12:53.871> say<00:12:53.983> situational,<00:12:55.558> very<00:12:56.602> dynamic.

00:12:57.582 --> 00:13:16.314
I'd<00:12:57.662> say<00:12:57.807> at<00:12:57.903> my<00:12:58.144> best,<00:12:58.770> I'm<00:12:59.188> thinking<00:12:59.574> about<00:13:00.297> working<00:13:00.939> on<00:13:01.036> the<00:13:01.116> business<00:13:01.598> and<00:13:01.743> working<00:13:02.642> in<00:13:02.803> the<00:13:02.883> business<00:13:03.671> and<00:13:04.153> really<00:13:04.410> trying<00:13:04.715> to<00:13:04.811> think<00:13:04.988> about<00:13:05.293> what<00:13:05.454> are<00:13:05.534> the<00:13:05.679> things—<00:13:06.016> some<00:13:06.257> good<00:13:06.418> advice<00:13:06.804> I<00:13:06.820> got<00:13:06.996> along<00:13:07.221> the<00:13:07.302> way<00:13:07.527> was<00:13:08.330> to<00:13:08.410> ask<00:13:08.587> myself,<00:13:08.973> what<00:13:09.069> are<00:13:09.535> the<00:13:09.680> things<00:13:09.872> that<00:13:10.178> only<00:13:10.900> I<00:13:11.222> can<00:13:11.463> do<00:13:11.816> or<00:13:12.025> only<00:13:12.266> I<00:13:12.507> can<00:13:12.828> work<00:13:13.069> on<00:13:13.165> or<00:13:13.262> that<00:13:13.406> I<00:13:13.487> can<00:13:13.631> uniquely<00:13:14.836> do<00:13:15.736> at<00:13:15.816> my<00:13:15.977> best?

00:13:16.362 --> 00:13:18.579
I'm<00:13:16.459> spending<00:13:16.844> more<00:13:17.005> time<00:13:17.969> on<00:13:18.451> that.

00:13:20.640 --> 00:13:24.130
How<00:13:20.672> do<00:13:20.816> you<00:13:22.683> define<00:13:23.230> culture<00:13:23.632> in<00:13:23.664> your<00:13:23.809> company?

00:13:24.195 --> 00:13:27.959
How<00:13:24.291> much<00:13:24.533> time—<00:13:25.080> just<00:13:25.337> as<00:13:25.498> a<00:13:25.562> follow-up<00:13:25.884> to<00:13:25.916> that,<00:13:26.045> how<00:13:26.141> much<00:13:26.302> time<00:13:26.447> are<00:13:26.527> you<00:13:26.624> spending<00:13:27.090> thinking<00:13:27.412> about<00:13:27.734> culture?

00:13:28.694 --> 00:13:29.778
How<00:13:28.856> to<00:13:28.953> develop<00:13:29.503> it.

00:13:29.972 --> 00:13:35.618
And<00:13:30.652> in<00:13:30.716> particular,<00:13:31.266> like,<00:13:31.590> you're<00:13:31.768> such<00:13:31.946> a<00:13:32.011> big<00:13:32.172> company,<00:13:33.466> you've<00:13:33.628> got<00:13:34.097> offices<00:13:34.680> in<00:13:34.760> different<00:13:35.068> locations.

00:13:36.412 --> 00:13:40.260
I<00:13:36.476> just<00:13:36.637> wonder,<00:13:36.846> like,<00:13:37.056> how<00:13:37.297> do<00:13:37.442> you<00:13:37.539> maintain<00:13:38.102> culture<00:13:38.569> throughout<00:13:39.310> the<00:13:39.471> entire<00:13:39.954> company?

00:13:41.951 --> 00:13:44.270
Yeah,<00:13:42.128> so<00:13:42.370> we<00:13:42.531> have<00:13:42.998> an<00:13:43.159> operating<00:13:43.658> system.

00:13:44.769 --> 00:13:49.745
We<00:13:44.866> call<00:13:44.962> it<00:13:45.091> an<00:13:45.172> operating<00:13:45.526> system<00:13:45.832> at<00:13:45.896> Trimble,<00:13:46.234> just<00:13:46.379> like<00:13:46.476> you'd<00:13:46.605> have<00:13:46.718> an<00:13:46.798> operating<00:13:47.136> system<00:13:48.151> on<00:13:48.183> your<00:13:48.312> phone<00:13:48.650> or<00:13:48.811> on<00:13:48.892> your<00:13:49.198> computer.

00:13:50.567 --> 00:13:54.464
Our<00:13:50.808> operating<00:13:51.130> system<00:13:51.855> is<00:13:52.032> threefold:<00:13:52.596> it's<00:13:52.789> strategy,<00:13:53.321> people,<00:13:53.723> and<00:13:53.804> execution.

00:13:54.512 --> 00:14:00.427
And<00:13:55.028> You<00:13:55.048> know,<00:13:55.738> I<00:13:55.754> like<00:13:55.915> to<00:13:55.995> say<00:13:56.156> it's<00:13:56.300> not<00:13:56.541> good<00:13:56.702> enough<00:13:56.894> to<00:13:56.974> get<00:13:57.183> one<00:13:57.360> of<00:13:57.424> the<00:13:57.520> two<00:13:57.761> right<00:13:58.018> or<00:13:58.163> two<00:13:58.484> of—<00:13:58.789> one<00:13:58.965> of<00:13:59.030> the<00:13:59.126> three<00:13:59.351> right<00:13:59.527> or<00:13:59.672> two<00:13:59.833> of<00:13:59.913> the<00:14:00.009> three<00:14:00.234> right.

00:14:00.491 --> 00:14:03.349
You<00:14:00.571> gotta<00:14:00.716> be<00:14:00.748> simultaneously<00:14:01.599> good<00:14:01.775> at<00:14:02.080> all<00:14:02.482> of<00:14:03.204> these.

00:14:03.510 --> 00:14:06.127
Because<00:14:03.863> you<00:14:03.943> could<00:14:04.023> have<00:14:04.168> the<00:14:04.264> best<00:14:04.489> strategy<00:14:05.549> in<00:14:05.629> the<00:14:05.773> world.

00:14:06.833 --> 00:14:09.017
You<00:14:06.994> could<00:14:07.122> have<00:14:07.251> an<00:14:07.315> amazing<00:14:07.877> culture<00:14:08.278> and<00:14:08.375> group<00:14:08.599> of<00:14:08.680> people.

00:14:09.081 --> 00:14:12.935
But<00:14:09.177> if<00:14:09.242> you<00:14:09.322> can't<00:14:09.627> execute<00:14:10.028> your<00:14:10.125> way<00:14:10.350> out<00:14:10.446> of<00:14:10.526> a<00:14:10.607> box,<00:14:11.104> it's<00:14:11.586> not<00:14:11.730> gonna<00:14:11.891> last<00:14:12.276> long,<00:14:12.758> right?

00:14:13.015 --> 00:14:15.777
Play<00:14:13.497> and<00:14:13.818> play<00:14:14.123> through<00:14:14.380> the<00:14:14.540> other<00:14:15.199> scenarios.

00:14:15.825 --> 00:14:20.273
You<00:14:15.985> could<00:14:16.146> be—<00:14:16.307> have<00:14:16.451> an<00:14:16.531> amazing<00:14:16.869> strategy,<00:14:17.350> you<00:14:17.431> know<00:14:17.479> how<00:14:17.591> to<00:14:17.752> execute,<00:14:18.153> but<00:14:18.217> you<00:14:18.298> just<00:14:18.458> completely<00:14:19.181> run<00:14:19.422> over<00:14:19.598> your<00:14:19.823> people.

00:14:20.786 --> 00:14:23.126
That's<00:14:21.026> not<00:14:21.123> going<00:14:21.235> to<00:14:21.363> end<00:14:21.507> well<00:14:21.668> because,<00:14:21.924> hey,<00:14:22.084> we're<00:14:22.229> a<00:14:22.245> technology<00:14:22.790> company.

00:14:23.191 --> 00:14:25.515
At<00:14:23.271> the<00:14:23.351> end<00:14:23.463> of<00:14:23.543> the<00:14:23.687> day,<00:14:24.168> it's<00:14:24.409> a<00:14:24.489> people<00:14:25.130> business.

00:14:25.595 --> 00:14:26.669
People<00:14:25.916> are<00:14:26.028> the<00:14:26.236> IP.

00:14:26.813 --> 00:14:33.706
Like,<00:14:27.118> so<00:14:27.711> it's<00:14:27.839> very<00:14:28.016> important<00:14:28.496> that<00:14:28.657> we<00:14:28.817> have<00:14:29.442> a<00:14:29.699> positive<00:14:30.164> culture<00:14:30.484> and<00:14:30.564> people<00:14:30.805> want<00:14:30.901> to<00:14:30.981> be<00:14:31.141> here<00:14:31.302> and<00:14:31.446> thrive<00:14:32.809> and,<00:14:33.306> and<00:14:33.386> grow.

00:14:33.770 --> 00:14:40.471
We<00:14:33.851> could<00:14:33.947> have<00:14:34.043> amazing<00:14:34.492> culture<00:14:34.828> and<00:14:34.925> we<00:14:35.053> could<00:14:35.213> really<00:14:35.405> know<00:14:35.550> how<00:14:35.630> to<00:14:35.774> get<00:14:35.934> stuff<00:14:36.191> done,<00:14:36.512> but<00:14:36.608> if<00:14:36.672> our<00:14:36.768> strategy<00:14:37.313> stinks,<00:14:38.275> you're<00:14:38.371> eventually<00:14:38.756> going<00:14:38.916> to<00:14:38.996> peter<00:14:39.317> out<00:14:39.958> on<00:14:40.118> that<00:14:40.359> one.

00:14:40.519 --> 00:14:43.180
And<00:14:40.599> so<00:14:40.824> we<00:14:41.000> think<00:14:41.305> deeply<00:14:41.721> about<00:14:42.042> having<00:14:42.347> the<00:14:42.507> connection<00:14:42.924> points.

00:14:43.549 --> 00:14:50.394
To<00:14:43.645> me,<00:14:45.168> I<00:14:46.194> learned<00:14:46.434> a<00:14:46.450> long<00:14:46.691> time<00:14:46.931> ago<00:14:47.172> this<00:14:47.364> sort<00:14:47.492> of<00:14:47.973> hierarchy<00:14:48.534> of<00:14:48.871> strategy,<00:14:49.432> structure,<00:14:49.897> and<00:14:49.977> systems.

00:14:50.442 --> 00:15:01.889
An<00:14:50.522> organizational<00:14:51.115> structure<00:14:51.644> is<00:14:51.804> fit<00:14:51.981> to<00:14:52.125> serve<00:14:53.007> the<00:14:53.103> strategy<00:14:53.680> and<00:14:53.792> the<00:14:53.889> underlying<00:14:54.289> systems,<00:14:55.748> whether<00:14:55.973> that's<00:14:56.133> computer<00:14:56.454> systems<00:14:56.871> or<00:14:56.951> incentive<00:14:57.352> systems,<00:14:58.137> those<00:14:58.378> need<00:14:58.554> to<00:14:58.634> fit<00:14:58.875> the<00:14:58.971> structure<00:14:59.500> to<00:14:59.580> serve<00:15:00.783> that,<00:15:01.184> that<00:15:01.424> strategy.

00:15:01.953 --> 00:15:04.278
There's<00:15:02.097> a<00:15:02.162> superordinate<00:15:02.819> structure<00:15:04.069> here.

00:15:04.791 --> 00:15:10.547
When<00:15:04.887> I<00:15:04.967> think<00:15:05.192> about<00:15:05.609> culture<00:15:06.170> and<00:15:06.314> how<00:15:06.490> that<00:15:06.971> plays,<00:15:07.773> you<00:15:07.853> know,<00:15:07.950> there's<00:15:08.174> the<00:15:08.254> set<00:15:08.495> of—<00:15:08.591> it's<00:15:08.735> like<00:15:08.895> the<00:15:08.976> iceberg<00:15:09.473> analogy<00:15:09.922> around<00:15:10.178> culture.

00:15:10.643 --> 00:15:20.391
There's<00:15:10.835> the<00:15:10.964> set<00:15:11.204> of<00:15:11.300> behaviors<00:15:12.006> that<00:15:12.102> you'll<00:15:12.262> see<00:15:12.583> above<00:15:13.705> the<00:15:13.786> surface,<00:15:14.651> you<00:15:14.699> know,<00:15:14.828> but<00:15:14.972> below<00:15:15.293> the<00:15:15.325> surface,<00:15:16.271> that<00:15:16.431> really<00:15:16.752> gets<00:15:17.072> to<00:15:17.874> the<00:15:18.018> underlying<00:15:18.515> values<00:15:19.317> and<00:15:19.397> expectations.

00:15:20.439 --> 00:15:22.876
It's<00:15:20.600> the<00:15:20.824> unsaid<00:15:22.027> the<00:15:22.187> unsaid<00:15:22.588> stuff.

00:15:23.486 --> 00:15:33.875
And<00:15:23.630> when<00:15:23.806> we<00:15:23.950> have<00:15:24.127> a<00:15:24.207> mission<00:15:24.672> of<00:15:25.073> transforming<00:15:25.554> the<00:15:25.634> way<00:15:25.730> the<00:15:25.874> world<00:15:26.115> works<00:15:26.371> and<00:15:26.532> connecting<00:15:26.997> the<00:15:27.077> physical,<00:15:27.430> digital,<00:15:27.798> hardware,<00:15:28.071> software,<00:15:28.600> office<00:15:29.161> field,<00:15:29.883> that<00:15:29.979> requires<00:15:30.524> us<00:15:30.700> to<00:15:30.925> have<00:15:31.582> a<00:15:31.727> culture<00:15:32.063> that<00:15:32.208> knows<00:15:32.400> how<00:15:32.464> to<00:15:32.624> play<00:15:32.865> across<00:15:33.346> boundaries.

00:15:34.452 --> 00:15:53.452
I<00:15:34.468> like<00:15:34.629> to<00:15:34.709> say<00:15:34.949> that<00:15:35.190> the<00:15:35.767> organizational<00:15:36.777> model<00:15:37.258> of<00:15:37.899> the<00:15:37.995> 20th<00:15:38.412> century<00:15:39.519> look<00:15:39.823> like<00:15:40.320> swim<00:15:40.641> lanes<00:15:41.026> and<00:15:41.106> the<00:15:41.202> organizational<00:15:41.699> model<00:15:42.469> of<00:15:42.565> the<00:15:42.805> 21st<00:15:43.206> century<00:15:44.072> looks<00:15:44.232> like<00:15:44.473> playing<00:15:44.713> water<00:15:44.970> polo,<00:15:45.451> like<00:15:45.852> learning<00:15:46.156> how<00:15:46.333> to<00:15:46.557> play<00:15:46.878> left,<00:15:47.198> right,<00:15:48.000> up,<00:15:48.176> down<00:15:48.577> and<00:15:48.802> moving<00:15:49.203> out<00:15:49.443> of<00:15:49.555> a<00:15:49.635> siloed<00:15:50.758> or<00:15:51.303> a<00:15:51.319> siloed,<00:15:51.848> let's<00:15:51.977> say,<00:15:52.089> view<00:15:52.570> of<00:15:53.212> the<00:15:53.308> world.

00:15:53.564 --> 00:15:58.633
It<00:15:53.629> was<00:15:53.725> a<00:15:53.789> construct<00:15:54.350> that<00:15:54.447> existed<00:15:54.767> and<00:15:54.880> was<00:15:55.056> created<00:15:55.393> for<00:15:55.473> a<00:15:55.633> reason,<00:15:56.900> not<00:15:57.061> too<00:15:57.157> long<00:15:57.382> after<00:15:57.510> the<00:15:57.558> Industrial<00:15:58.023> Revolution.

00:15:59.001 --> 00:16:01.503
I<00:15:59.146> think<00:15:59.322> these<00:15:59.563> days<00:15:59.884> it's<00:16:00.028> an<00:16:00.124> outdated<00:16:00.990> construct.

00:16:01.551 --> 00:16:05.336
So<00:16:01.888> we<00:16:02.113> look<00:16:02.273> to<00:16:02.434> have<00:16:02.626> a<00:16:02.754> culture<00:16:03.733> that<00:16:03.909> knows<00:16:04.198> how<00:16:04.294> to<00:16:04.454> play<00:16:04.775> well<00:16:04.936> together.

00:16:05.417 --> 00:16:07.293
We've<00:16:05.577> been<00:16:05.673> an<00:16:05.753> acquisitive<00:16:06.443> company<00:16:06.780> over<00:16:07.020> time.

00:16:07.341 --> 00:16:10.918
We've<00:16:07.502> done<00:16:07.726> over<00:16:07.822> 120<00:16:08.865> deals<00:16:09.202> over<00:16:09.426> the<00:16:09.506> last<00:16:10.292> 20<00:16:10.773> years.

00:16:10.966 --> 00:16:14.623
So<00:16:11.126> there's<00:16:11.335> a<00:16:11.351> lot<00:16:11.672> of<00:16:11.832> cultures<00:16:12.393> that<00:16:12.538> we<00:16:12.698> have<00:16:13.420> brought<00:16:13.660> together<00:16:14.061> into<00:16:14.222> Trimble.

00:16:14.799 --> 00:16:24.145
And<00:16:15.024> we<00:16:15.120> really<00:16:15.360> try<00:16:15.537> to<00:16:15.761> anchor<00:16:16.082> on<00:16:16.403> mission<00:16:17.269> and<00:16:17.606> purpose,<00:16:18.728> recognize<00:16:19.290> and<00:16:19.450> reward<00:16:20.236> the<00:16:20.317> behaviors<00:16:21.282> that<00:16:21.362> are<00:16:21.459> consistent<00:16:22.086> with<00:16:22.826> the<00:16:22.971> culture<00:16:23.309> and<00:16:23.389> with<00:16:23.534> our<00:16:23.630> values.

00:16:24.257 --> 00:16:26.976
We<00:16:24.338> describe<00:16:24.660> our<00:16:24.756> values<00:16:25.174> as<00:16:25.319> belong,<00:16:25.785> grow,<00:16:26.590> innovate.

00:16:27.169 --> 00:16:29.807
And<00:16:27.249> when<00:16:27.313> we<00:16:27.346> say<00:16:27.555> belong,<00:16:28.080> we<00:16:28.144> say<00:16:28.273> be<00:16:28.338> yourself<00:16:28.854> and<00:16:29.000> thrive<00:16:29.387> together.

00:16:30.210 --> 00:16:32.551
When<00:16:30.372> we<00:16:30.436> say<00:16:30.678> grow,<00:16:31.017> we<00:16:31.098> say<00:16:31.324> be<00:16:31.421> humble<00:16:31.824> and<00:16:31.970> intentional.

00:16:32.954 --> 00:16:35.989
And<00:16:33.035> when<00:16:33.277> we<00:16:33.374> say<00:16:33.600> innovate,<00:16:34.068> we<00:16:34.181> mean<00:16:34.407> to<00:16:34.568> be<00:16:34.649> curious<00:16:35.133> and<00:16:35.295> solve<00:16:35.618> problems.

00:16:38.729 --> 00:16:47.442
That's—<00:16:38.973> how<00:16:39.071> do<00:16:39.119> you<00:16:39.233> think,<00:16:39.494> like,<00:16:39.950> as<00:16:40.454> a<00:16:40.617> leader<00:16:40.943> of<00:16:41.106> a<00:16:41.659> company<00:16:41.985> and<00:16:42.066> you're<00:16:42.229> leading<00:16:42.490> the<00:16:42.571> team<00:16:43.076> and<00:16:43.206> you're<00:16:43.336> setting<00:16:43.548> the<00:16:43.695> vision,<00:16:43.955> you're<00:16:44.118> setting<00:16:44.362> your<00:16:44.525> values,<00:16:45.847> Uh,<00:16:46.169> how<00:16:46.266> do<00:16:46.331> you<00:16:46.427> flip<00:16:46.733> that<00:16:47.056> personally?

00:16:47.635 --> 00:16:51.035
Like,<00:16:47.861> how<00:16:47.958> do<00:16:48.103> you—<00:16:48.505> how<00:16:48.602> do<00:16:48.667> you—<00:16:49.472> what<00:16:49.553> does<00:16:49.649> self-leadership<00:16:50.535> mean<00:16:50.696> to<00:16:50.841> you?

00:16:51.566 --> 00:16:54.595
How<00:16:51.663> do<00:16:51.808> you,<00:16:52.291> uh,<00:16:52.613> integrate<00:16:53.016> that<00:16:53.193> into<00:16:53.355> your<00:16:53.516> own<00:16:53.757> personal<00:16:54.144> life<00:16:54.386> every<00:16:54.546> day?

00:16:56.396 --> 00:17:02.169
When<00:16:56.557> I<00:16:56.653> think<00:16:56.894> about,<00:16:58.181> I'll<00:16:58.438> say,<00:16:58.728> self-leadership,<00:17:00.030> I,<00:17:00.657> I,<00:17:00.834> I'll<00:17:01.462> use<00:17:01.574> the<00:17:01.703> word<00:17:01.864> humility.

00:17:03.566 --> 00:17:08.907
Uh,<00:17:04.210> and<00:17:05.658> one<00:17:05.818> of<00:17:05.899> the<00:17:06.076> books<00:17:06.397> that<00:17:06.542> I've,<00:17:06.944> um—<00:17:07.186> I<00:17:07.218> don't<00:17:07.363> read<00:17:07.588> a<00:17:07.604> lot<00:17:07.700> of<00:17:07.765> business<00:17:08.649> books.

00:17:09.116 --> 00:17:11.582
Um,<00:17:09.373> arguably<00:17:09.759> I<00:17:09.840> read<00:17:10.242> no<00:17:10.403> business<00:17:10.740> books<00:17:11.290> anymore.

00:17:12.506 --> 00:17:19.910
Um,<00:17:12.846> but<00:17:13.316> one<00:17:13.722> I<00:17:13.819> think<00:17:14.046> qualifies<00:17:14.451> as<00:17:14.483> a<00:17:14.500> business<00:17:14.710> book<00:17:14.759> was<00:17:14.808> Atomic<00:17:14.954> Habits,<00:17:15.197> and<00:17:15.294> I<00:17:15.310> love<00:17:15.375> this<00:17:15.472> idea<00:17:17.490> idea<00:17:17.826> of<00:17:18.002> the<00:17:18.083> 1%<00:17:18.724> better<00:17:19.269> every<00:17:19.686> day.

00:17:20.038 --> 00:17:25.473
Like,<00:17:20.471> how<00:17:20.647> can<00:17:20.792> I<00:17:20.888> show<00:17:21.128> up<00:17:21.289> and<00:17:21.369> be<00:17:21.513> just<00:17:21.673> a<00:17:21.770> better<00:17:22.074> version<00:17:22.427> of<00:17:22.587> myself<00:17:23.517> every<00:17:23.757> day,<00:17:24.094> a<00:17:24.174> better<00:17:24.575> leader<00:17:25.040> every<00:17:25.216> day?

00:17:25.937 --> 00:17:30.105
We<00:17:26.034> need<00:17:26.258> this<00:17:26.418> company<00:17:26.899> to<00:17:27.059> be<00:17:27.621> a<00:17:27.701> little<00:17:27.941> bit<00:17:28.262> better<00:17:29.047> every<00:17:30.009> day.

00:17:31.548 --> 00:17:34.049
I<00:17:31.564> make<00:17:31.804> mistakes,<00:17:32.574> I<00:17:32.590> fail,<00:17:33.375> I<00:17:33.456> mess<00:17:33.856> up.

00:17:34.994 --> 00:17:37.671
I<00:17:35.010> need<00:17:35.235> to<00:17:35.379> own<00:17:35.555> them<00:17:36.581> and<00:17:36.902> set<00:17:37.142> that<00:17:37.319> tone.

00:17:37.832 --> 00:17:38.826
Like,<00:17:38.200> I,<00:17:38.425> you<00:17:38.457> know<00:17:38.569> what<00:17:38.681> I<00:17:38.697> mean?

00:17:38.906 --> 00:17:46.296
I<00:17:38.922> think<00:17:39.082> there's<00:17:39.307> a<00:17:39.403> look<00:17:39.579> in<00:17:39.643> the<00:17:39.739> mirror<00:17:40.910> aspect<00:17:41.471> to<00:17:41.567> this,<00:17:41.903> is<00:17:42.048> how<00:17:42.208> do<00:17:42.352> I<00:17:42.448> show<00:17:42.689> up<00:17:42.849> as<00:17:42.929> a<00:17:43.009> better<00:17:43.314> version<00:17:44.452> of<00:17:44.596> myself<00:17:45.478> every,<00:17:45.959> every<00:17:46.216> day?

00:17:46.680 --> 00:17:48.604
I've<00:17:47.081> got<00:17:47.209> to<00:17:47.338> do<00:17:47.514> the,<00:17:48.219> do<00:17:48.315> the<00:17:48.444> work.

00:17:48.764 --> 00:17:56.909
I<00:17:48.861> still<00:17:49.101> have<00:17:49.390> lot<00:17:49.518> of,<00:17:50.129> I<00:17:50.225> think,<00:17:50.466> growth<00:17:50.787> potential<00:17:51.350> as<00:17:51.510> a,<00:17:51.992> as<00:17:52.137> a<00:17:52.153> human,<00:17:53.181> um,<00:17:53.679> as<00:17:53.824> a<00:17:53.840> father,<00:17:54.804> as<00:17:54.949> a<00:17:54.965> husband,<00:17:55.929> as<00:17:56.025> a<00:17:56.154> business<00:17:56.555> leader.

00:17:57.439 --> 00:18:03.837
I'm<00:17:57.857> really<00:17:58.323> drawn<00:17:58.725> to<00:17:58.821> that<00:17:58.966> idea<00:17:59.304> of<00:17:59.401> just<00:17:59.611> a<00:17:59.691> little<00:17:59.869> bit<00:18:00.175> better<00:18:00.498> every<00:18:00.675> day,<00:18:00.917> and<00:18:00.998> the<00:18:01.079> compound<00:18:02.514> effect<00:18:02.917> of<00:18:03.014> that<00:18:03.240> is<00:18:03.337> profound.

00:18:05.095 --> 00:18:07.482
What<00:18:05.272> role<00:18:05.498> do<00:18:05.579> you<00:18:05.676> think<00:18:06.143> empathy<00:18:06.563> plays<00:18:06.885> in<00:18:07.047> leadership?

00:18:09.302 --> 00:18:20.484
I'll<00:18:09.449> tell<00:18:09.530> you,<00:18:09.612> I<00:18:09.628> think<00:18:09.872> I've<00:18:10.100> learned<00:18:10.524> that<00:18:10.622> it<00:18:10.768> plays<00:18:11.811> a<00:18:11.827> very<00:18:12.234> large<00:18:12.625> role,<00:18:12.886> and<00:18:12.984> I've<00:18:13.114> come<00:18:13.293> to<00:18:13.375> appreciate<00:18:13.945> that<00:18:14.189> more<00:18:14.433> in<00:18:14.515> the<00:18:14.661> last<00:18:16.068> few<00:18:16.309> years,<00:18:17.192> and<00:18:17.273> I'll<00:18:17.722> tell<00:18:17.835> you<00:18:18.316> why<00:18:18.959> and<00:18:19.296> put<00:18:19.456> it<00:18:19.537> in<00:18:19.633> a<00:18:19.697> Trimble<00:18:20.018> context.

00:18:20.564 --> 00:18:27.982
We<00:18:20.645> have<00:18:20.757> 13,000<00:18:21.528> people<00:18:21.865> that<00:18:22.090> work<00:18:22.892> at<00:18:23.214> our<00:18:23.631> company,<00:18:25.462> again,<00:18:25.879> doing<00:18:26.120> business<00:18:26.441> in<00:18:26.505> over<00:18:26.585> 150<00:18:27.549> countries.

00:18:28.047 --> 00:18:31.467
We<00:18:28.127> have<00:18:28.271> colleagues<00:18:28.689> that<00:18:28.849> live<00:18:29.010> in<00:18:29.090> over<00:18:29.315> 45<00:18:31.001> countries.

00:18:32.703 --> 00:18:40.587
What<00:18:32.848> I've<00:18:32.944> come<00:18:33.185> to<00:18:33.345> understand<00:18:34.212> and<00:18:34.694> appreciate<00:18:35.352> is<00:18:35.433> that<00:18:35.657> you<00:18:35.690> have<00:18:35.834> 13,000<00:18:36.846> unique<00:18:37.183> stories<00:18:38.708> through<00:18:38.805> having<00:18:39.142> 13,000<00:18:40.250> people.

00:18:41.213 --> 00:19:05.622
And<00:18:41.357> I<00:18:41.518> think<00:18:41.694> we<00:18:41.855> as<00:18:42.721> humans<00:18:43.139> almost<00:18:43.363> have<00:18:43.476> a<00:18:43.684> default<00:18:44.246> reaction<00:18:44.824> to<00:18:45.610> think<00:18:45.851> that<00:18:45.947> the<00:18:46.172> world<00:18:47.151> operates<00:18:47.552> through<00:18:47.728> the<00:18:47.857> same<00:18:48.194> lens<00:18:49.317> that<00:18:49.478> we<00:18:49.638> do,<00:18:49.959> which<00:18:50.120> is<00:18:50.216> to<00:18:50.360> say,<00:18:50.826> you<00:18:50.858> know,<00:18:50.922> I'm<00:18:51.227> here<00:18:51.339> in<00:18:51.404> a<00:18:51.468> conversation<00:18:51.965> with<00:18:52.190> you,<00:18:52.671> there's<00:18:52.832> this<00:18:52.992> invisible<00:18:53.490> filter<00:18:54.918> that's<00:18:55.175> processed<00:18:55.721> how<00:18:55.897> I<00:18:56.042> grew<00:18:56.282> up<00:18:56.539> and<00:18:56.619> my<00:18:57.004> lived<00:18:57.245> experience<00:18:57.983> and<00:18:58.144> life<00:18:58.545> that<00:18:59.187> plays<00:18:59.492> into<00:19:00.134> how<00:19:00.310> I<00:19:00.391> show<00:19:00.615> up<00:19:00.728> in<00:19:00.792> this<00:19:00.952> conversation,<00:19:01.899> what<00:19:02.060> I<00:19:02.076> might<00:19:02.252> expect<00:19:03.119> in<00:19:03.199> a<00:19:03.263> given<00:19:03.520> conversation<00:19:05.189> with<00:19:05.430> you.

00:19:06.152 --> 00:19:25.558
And<00:19:06.248> what<00:19:06.393> I've<00:19:07.211> come<00:19:07.388> to<00:19:07.452> appreciate<00:19:08.094> certainly,<00:19:08.960> and<00:19:09.233> especially<00:19:09.699> I'd<00:19:09.843> say<00:19:10.405> in<00:19:10.742> 2020<00:19:12.267> between<00:19:12.588> the<00:19:13.069> pandemic<00:19:13.711> and<00:19:13.792> social<00:19:14.755> unrest<00:19:15.638> was<00:19:15.943> to<00:19:16.504> learn<00:19:17.066> to<00:19:17.163> be<00:19:17.307> more<00:19:17.484> open<00:19:17.869> to<00:19:18.206> understanding<00:19:18.928> other<00:19:19.153> people's<00:19:19.570> lived<00:19:19.827> experience,<00:19:21.175> what<00:19:21.400> they<00:19:21.577> bring<00:19:21.818> to<00:19:21.898> the<00:19:21.978> table<00:19:22.363> or<00:19:22.460> the<00:19:22.524> filters<00:19:23.037> that<00:19:23.166> they<00:19:23.407> bring<00:19:23.664> to<00:19:23.744> the<00:19:23.824> table,<00:19:24.161> to<00:19:24.290> just<00:19:24.627> be<00:19:24.771> more<00:19:25.012> curious.

00:19:26.152 --> 00:19:29.169
I<00:19:26.232> think<00:19:26.697> curiosity<00:19:27.355> unlocks<00:19:28.720> the<00:19:28.864> empathy.

00:19:30.164 --> 00:19:32.620
And<00:19:30.261> I<00:19:30.325> think<00:19:30.485> that<00:19:30.646> empathy<00:19:31.513> is<00:19:31.673> more<00:19:31.914> and<00:19:32.010> more<00:19:32.107> important.

00:19:32.733 --> 00:19:41.286
I<00:19:32.749> mean,<00:19:32.925> let's<00:19:33.535> face<00:19:33.840> it,<00:19:34.001> we<00:19:34.402> have<00:19:34.643> mental<00:19:34.964> health<00:19:35.205> crises<00:19:36.649> both<00:19:36.890> here<00:19:37.067> in<00:19:37.211> the<00:19:37.372> US<00:19:38.174> and<00:19:38.736> around<00:19:39.233> the<00:19:39.377> world,<00:19:40.115> within<00:19:40.420> our<00:19:40.740> communities.

00:19:41.414 --> 00:19:43.932
It's<00:19:41.799> not<00:19:41.959> surprising<00:19:42.504> they're<00:19:42.665> also<00:19:42.921> within<00:19:43.162> our<00:19:43.386> workplaces.

00:19:43.980 --> 00:19:46.770
There's<00:19:44.188> a<00:19:44.268> lot<00:19:44.381> of<00:19:44.445> stress<00:19:45.407> that<00:19:45.551> seems<00:19:45.808> to<00:19:45.904> be<00:19:46.048> out<00:19:46.225> there<00:19:46.369> in<00:19:46.449> the<00:19:46.594> world.

00:19:46.850 --> 00:19:56.616
I<00:19:46.930> think<00:19:47.091> social<00:19:47.363> media<00:19:47.636> is<00:19:47.732> probably<00:19:48.229> exacerbates<00:19:49.015> that<00:19:49.913> stress<00:19:51.260> that<00:19:51.420> we<00:19:51.581> feel,<00:19:51.982> and<00:19:52.367> you<00:19:52.447> need<00:19:52.607> to<00:19:52.703> be<00:19:52.767> able<00:19:52.864> to<00:19:52.928> see<00:19:53.265> that<00:19:53.569> and<00:19:53.826> work<00:19:54.066> with<00:19:54.291> that<00:19:55.173> as<00:19:55.413> a,<00:19:55.894> as<00:19:56.231> a<00:19:56.311> leader.

00:19:56.776 --> 00:20:00.000
Ultimately,<00:19:57.177> you<00:19:57.338> want<00:19:57.594> as<00:19:57.690> a<00:19:57.755> leader<00:19:58.011> to<00:19:58.140> make<00:19:58.861> things<00:19:59.118> and<00:19:59.278> people<00:19:59.599> better.

00:20:00.160 --> 00:20:05.179
I<00:20:00.240> think<00:20:00.561> if<00:20:00.641> you<00:20:00.801> lack<00:20:01.138> that<00:20:02.068> empathy,<00:20:02.485> you're<00:20:02.790> unlikely<00:20:03.367> to<00:20:03.528> be<00:20:03.592> able<00:20:03.752> to<00:20:03.832> get<00:20:04.009> the<00:20:04.073> most<00:20:04.394> out<00:20:04.490> of<00:20:04.570> an<00:20:04.634> organization.

00:20:06.511 --> 00:20:12.783
It's<00:20:06.655> interesting,<00:20:07.120> like<00:20:07.923> you<00:20:08.019> mentioned,<00:20:08.324> like<00:20:08.484> 2020,<00:20:09.062> the<00:20:09.206> social<00:20:09.543> unrest,<00:20:10.008> the<00:20:10.104> pandemic,<00:20:10.730> all<00:20:10.826> these<00:20:11.452> various<00:20:11.789> things<00:20:12.094> that<00:20:12.190> popped<00:20:12.511> up<00:20:12.671> there.

00:20:13.473 --> 00:20:22.425
And<00:20:13.553> it<00:20:13.634> seems<00:20:13.938> like<00:20:14.099> as<00:20:14.195> CEOs<00:20:14.917> and<00:20:15.061> as<00:20:15.238> leaders,<00:20:16.281> you're<00:20:16.441> having<00:20:16.842> to<00:20:16.922> think<00:20:17.227> more<00:20:17.548> and<00:20:17.708> more<00:20:18.125> about<00:20:18.462> things<00:20:19.072> outside<00:20:19.505> of<00:20:19.633> your<00:20:19.810> control,<00:20:20.452> things<00:20:20.676> that<00:20:20.740> are<00:20:20.837> happening<00:20:21.238> outside<00:20:21.671> of<00:20:21.799> your<00:20:21.976> company.

00:20:23.018 --> 00:20:45.307
I<00:20:23.082> wonder,<00:20:23.323> as<00:20:23.419> you<00:20:23.580> look<00:20:23.756> at<00:20:23.820> like<00:20:23.981> the<00:20:24.125> current<00:20:24.526> kind<00:20:24.687> of<00:20:24.863> macro<00:20:25.441> environment,<00:20:26.211> both<00:20:26.548> economically<00:20:27.270> and<00:20:27.414> just<00:20:27.671> like<00:20:27.895> we're<00:20:27.991> in<00:20:28.088> an<00:20:28.136> election<00:20:28.553> year<00:20:28.794> in<00:20:28.874> the<00:20:28.922> United<00:20:29.195> States,<00:20:30.077> in<00:20:30.221> a<00:20:30.237> lot<00:20:30.414> of<00:20:30.542> other<00:20:30.719> countries<00:20:31.216> as<00:20:31.424> well,<00:20:32.948> It<00:20:33.108> could<00:20:33.284> be<00:20:33.429> a<00:20:33.445> very<00:20:33.845> intense—<00:20:34.551> How<00:20:34.823> do<00:20:34.951> you<00:20:35.128> think<00:20:35.528> about<00:20:36.410> just<00:20:36.651> the<00:20:36.875> general<00:20:38.318> state<00:20:38.735> of<00:20:38.831> the<00:20:39.039> world<00:20:39.680> as<00:20:39.857> CEO,<00:20:40.498> and<00:20:40.642> how<00:20:40.674> much<00:20:40.899> time<00:20:41.043> are<00:20:41.075> you<00:20:41.219> spending<00:20:41.620> on<00:20:41.941> outside<00:20:42.502> stuff<00:20:43.447> versus<00:20:43.944> what's<00:20:44.169> happening<00:20:44.505> inside<00:20:44.810> your<00:20:44.970> company?

00:20:46.509 --> 00:20:50.966
I'd<00:20:46.621> say<00:20:46.830> I<00:20:46.910> spend<00:20:47.695> more<00:20:47.872> and<00:20:47.952> more<00:20:48.192> thinking<00:20:48.449> about<00:20:48.673> outside<00:20:49.475> things<00:20:50.356> these<00:20:50.661> days.

00:20:51.623 --> 00:20:52.809
I<00:20:51.639> think<00:20:51.879> it's<00:20:52.104> mostly<00:20:52.520> good.

00:20:52.921 --> 00:20:59.830
Maybe<00:20:53.146> sometimes<00:20:54.749> we<00:20:54.925> overthink<00:20:55.422> some<00:20:55.582> of<00:20:56.913> these<00:20:57.490> topics,<00:20:58.596> but<00:20:58.836> hey,<00:20:58.933> take<00:20:59.237> elections.

00:20:59.894 --> 00:21:07.268
I<00:21:00.215> saw<00:21:00.471> something<00:21:00.840> the<00:21:00.920> other<00:21:01.016> day<00:21:01.257> that<00:21:01.433> said,<00:21:01.962> I<00:21:01.978> think<00:21:02.139> there's<00:21:02.363> 40-plus<00:21:02.940> democracies<00:21:03.581> having<00:21:03.710> having<00:21:03.822> elections<00:21:04.287> this<00:21:04.447> year<00:21:04.623> that<00:21:04.719> represent<00:21:05.184> something<00:21:05.425> like<00:21:05.649> 60%<00:21:06.210> of<00:21:06.451> global<00:21:06.707> GDP.

00:21:07.830 --> 00:21:09.753
I<00:21:07.846> mean,<00:21:08.006> that's<00:21:08.166> a<00:21:08.214> stunning<00:21:09.417> number.

00:21:10.138 --> 00:21:15.829
Hey,<00:21:10.298> we're<00:21:10.411> a<00:21:10.475> multi—<00:21:11.132> so<00:21:11.757> I<00:21:11.854> said<00:21:12.318> something<00:21:12.719> in<00:21:13.425> a<00:21:13.761> company<00:21:14.803> message<00:21:15.204> the<00:21:15.364> other<00:21:15.525> day.

00:21:16.086 --> 00:21:22.354
We're<00:21:16.230> reflecting<00:21:16.791> on<00:21:17.192> this<00:21:17.448> and<00:21:17.529> what's<00:21:17.689> our<00:21:17.913> role<00:21:18.250> as<00:21:18.426> a<00:21:18.651> business<00:21:19.052> and<00:21:19.132> what's<00:21:19.292> my<00:21:19.517> role<00:21:19.757> as<00:21:19.853> a<00:21:19.933> leader<00:21:20.334> in<00:21:20.575> commenting<00:21:21.280> on<00:21:21.553> some<00:21:21.713> of<00:21:21.761> these<00:21:21.873> topics.

00:21:22.979 --> 00:21:29.584
My<00:21:23.140> view<00:21:23.460> is<00:21:24.486> I<00:21:24.502> don't<00:21:24.663> have<00:21:24.823> a—<00:21:25.368> I<00:21:25.384> don't<00:21:25.544> think<00:21:25.689> my<00:21:25.849> role<00:21:26.025> is<00:21:26.170> to<00:21:26.234> have<00:21:26.426> a<00:21:26.827> comment<00:21:27.452> on<00:21:27.933> Leader<00:21:28.254> A<00:21:28.510> versus<00:21:29.135> Leader<00:21:29.392> B.

00:21:30.017 --> 00:21:33.769
What<00:21:30.177> I<00:21:30.290> spend<00:21:30.594> more<00:21:30.739> time<00:21:30.979> thinking<00:21:31.252> about<00:21:31.476> are<00:21:31.556> what<00:21:31.717> are<00:21:31.781> the<00:21:31.893> issues<00:21:32.262> that<00:21:32.422> matter<00:21:32.678> to<00:21:32.903> us<00:21:33.079> as<00:21:33.240> a<00:21:33.384> business.

00:21:34.762 --> 00:21:36.669
Hey,<00:21:34.922> we're—<00:21:35.083> so<00:21:35.243> we're<00:21:35.467> a<00:21:35.483> multinational<00:21:36.284> company.

00:21:36.765 --> 00:21:38.496
We're<00:21:36.909> dependent<00:21:37.711> on<00:21:37.887> free<00:21:38.127> trade.

00:21:39.473 --> 00:21:43.703
We're<00:21:39.633> dependent<00:21:40.194> on<00:21:40.354> the<00:21:40.435> flow<00:21:40.851> of<00:21:41.011> capital<00:21:41.636> and<00:21:41.813> the<00:21:41.877> flow<00:21:42.213> of<00:21:42.293> the<00:21:42.373> best<00:21:42.614> talent<00:21:43.078> around<00:21:43.415> the<00:21:43.495> world.

00:21:44.280 --> 00:21:54.920
So<00:21:44.440> issues<00:21:44.777> like<00:21:45.482> trade<00:21:45.802> barriers<00:21:46.139> are<00:21:46.203> very<00:21:46.363> important<00:21:46.780> to<00:21:46.924> us<00:21:47.052> because<00:21:47.661> that's<00:21:47.821> putting<00:21:48.606> obstacles<00:21:49.103> in<00:21:49.247> front<00:21:49.440> of<00:21:49.568> us<00:21:49.744> being<00:21:49.904> able<00:21:50.081> to<00:21:50.145> grow<00:21:50.385> the<00:21:50.465> world<00:21:50.786> and<00:21:50.866> to<00:21:50.946> be<00:21:51.026> able<00:21:51.186> to<00:21:51.266> help<00:21:51.491> bring<00:21:51.667> efficiencies<00:21:52.308> to<00:21:52.452> these<00:21:53.029> vital<00:21:53.413> industries<00:21:53.910> that<00:21:54.134> we,<00:21:54.471> we<00:21:54.567> serve.

00:21:55.368 --> 00:22:08.927
Our<00:21:55.512> ability,<00:21:56.153> and<00:21:56.298> I<00:21:56.378> think<00:21:56.778> our<00:21:57.515> inability<00:21:58.236> actually,<00:21:58.637> to<00:21:58.797> unlock<00:21:59.518> sensible<00:21:59.935> immigration<00:22:00.544> reform<00:22:02.178> is<00:22:02.307> making<00:22:02.563> it<00:22:02.643> harder<00:22:02.948> for<00:22:03.044> us<00:22:03.172> to<00:22:03.284> do<00:22:03.445> business,<00:22:03.765> to<00:22:03.910> get<00:22:04.070> the<00:22:04.166> right<00:22:04.407> talent<00:22:04.807> to<00:22:05.032> work<00:22:05.352> on<00:22:06.170> the<00:22:06.330> topics<00:22:06.891> and<00:22:06.971> the<00:22:07.132> opportunities<00:22:07.837> that<00:22:08.013> we<00:22:08.174> have<00:22:08.414> as<00:22:08.510> a<00:22:08.574> business.

00:22:09.087 --> 00:22:14.650
So<00:22:09.135> we'll<00:22:09.616> comment<00:22:10.322> and<00:22:10.482> work<00:22:10.883> on<00:22:11.203> the<00:22:11.299> topics<00:22:11.780> that<00:22:11.925> impact<00:22:12.566> our<00:22:13.207> business<00:22:13.624> and<00:22:13.688> that<00:22:13.784> are<00:22:13.864> meaningful<00:22:14.345> to<00:22:14.570> us.

00:22:15.051 --> 00:22:16.221
We<00:22:15.131> think<00:22:15.243> about<00:22:15.467> that<00:22:15.612> on<00:22:15.708> one<00:22:15.932> axis.

00:22:16.333 --> 00:22:26.336
On<00:22:16.413> the<00:22:16.509> other<00:22:16.734> axis,<00:22:17.615> I<00:22:17.631> think<00:22:17.792> about<00:22:18.032> where<00:22:18.257> we<00:22:18.593> have<00:22:18.850> a<00:22:18.914> relevant<00:22:19.379> voice<00:22:19.795> and<00:22:19.940> where<00:22:20.116> we<00:22:20.341> can<00:22:20.517> play,<00:22:21.463> where,<00:22:22.424> where<00:22:22.985> I'd<00:22:23.066> say<00:22:23.226> where<00:22:23.402> it<00:22:23.498> seems<00:22:23.803> like<00:22:23.979> that<00:22:24.124> we<00:22:24.284> have<00:22:24.925> a<00:22:24.989> place<00:22:25.246> to<00:22:25.342> show<00:22:25.566> up<00:22:25.743> as<00:22:25.887> a<00:22:25.967> company.

00:22:26.769 --> 00:22:32.507
Other<00:22:26.929> times<00:22:27.233> you<00:22:27.314> want<00:22:27.410> to<00:22:27.490> show<00:22:27.730> up<00:22:27.907> through<00:22:28.131> organizations<00:22:28.836> that<00:22:28.949> you're<00:22:29.093> part<00:22:29.398> of,<00:22:29.494> and<00:22:29.558> those<00:22:29.670> organizations<00:22:30.536> can,<00:22:31.257> can<00:22:31.417> have<00:22:31.802> advocacy.

00:22:32.876 --> 00:22:41.521
So<00:22:33.004> we<00:22:33.036> certainly<00:22:33.485> pay<00:22:33.630> a<00:22:33.662> lot<00:22:33.758> of<00:22:33.823> attention<00:22:34.306> to<00:22:34.403> that,<00:22:34.789> uh,<00:22:35.208> I'd<00:22:35.337> say<00:22:35.498> the<00:22:35.675> global,<00:22:36.706> um,<00:22:36.802> what's<00:22:36.963> happening<00:22:37.366> in<00:22:37.430> the<00:22:37.527> global<00:22:38.010> economy,<00:22:38.509> what's<00:22:38.654> happening<00:22:39.540> in<00:22:39.685> global<00:22:40.249> politics,<00:22:40.748> geopolitics.

00:22:42.020 --> 00:22:49.392
Um,<00:22:42.198> they're<00:22:42.359> very,<00:22:42.665> very<00:22:42.826> relevant,<00:22:43.246> whether<00:22:43.489> it's<00:22:44.119> as<00:22:44.217> you<00:22:44.443> try<00:22:44.556> to<00:22:44.686> predict<00:22:45.090> and<00:22:45.268> forecast<00:22:45.688> economies<00:22:46.319> to<00:22:46.885> trying<00:22:47.111> to<00:22:47.192> understand<00:22:47.597> how<00:22:47.694> to<00:22:47.839> map<00:22:48.163> out,<00:22:48.502> um,<00:22:48.664> supply<00:22:49.052> chains.

00:22:49.877 --> 00:22:52.747
These<00:22:50.039> things<00:22:50.281> become<00:22:50.605> vital<00:22:51.090> considerations<00:22:51.963> to<00:22:52.125> us<00:22:52.190> as<00:22:52.243> a<00:22:52.315> business.

00:22:54.486 --> 00:22:55.730
I<00:22:54.567> can't<00:22:54.809> thank<00:22:54.954> you<00:22:54.987> enough<00:22:55.213> for<00:22:55.358> joining<00:22:55.681> us.

00:22:55.778 --> 00:23:02.803
Seriously,<00:22:56.344> it<00:22:56.441> means<00:22:56.748> the<00:22:56.893> world,<00:22:57.701> uh,<00:22:57.959> to<00:22:58.105> have<00:22:58.218> somebody<00:22:58.590> with<00:22:58.751> your<00:22:58.913> experience<00:22:59.818> and<00:22:59.898> your<00:23:00.141> company,<00:23:00.690> uh,<00:23:00.932> to<00:23:01.029> talk<00:23:01.272> to<00:23:01.417> kind<00:23:01.595> of<00:23:01.676> our<00:23:01.902> audience<00:23:02.209> and<00:23:02.402> community.

00:23:03.509 --> 00:23:16.169
Um,<00:23:04.327> I<00:23:04.391> want<00:23:04.472> to<00:23:04.504> be<00:23:04.632> respectful<00:23:05.049> of<00:23:05.113> your<00:23:05.210> time,<00:23:05.595> so<00:23:05.755> we<00:23:05.916> ask<00:23:06.156> every,<00:23:06.718> every<00:23:06.975> guest<00:23:07.376> the<00:23:07.472> same<00:23:07.761> question<00:23:08.403> at<00:23:08.499> the<00:23:08.660> end<00:23:09.687> of<00:23:09.863> each<00:23:10.088> interview,<00:23:10.585> and<00:23:10.665> that<00:23:10.906> is,<00:23:11.066> at<00:23:11.147> CEO.com,<00:23:11.933> we<00:23:12.029> believe<00:23:12.334> the<00:23:12.414> chances<00:23:12.896> one<00:23:13.152> gives<00:23:14.115> is<00:23:14.195> just<00:23:14.436> as<00:23:14.516> important<00:23:14.918> as<00:23:14.998> the<00:23:15.142> chances<00:23:15.543> one<00:23:15.720> takes.

00:23:16.602 --> 00:23:20.951
And<00:23:16.747> I<00:23:16.827> wonder,<00:23:17.148> when<00:23:17.308> you<00:23:17.405> hear<00:23:17.806> that,<00:23:18.111> who<00:23:18.271> gave<00:23:18.592> you<00:23:18.769> a<00:23:18.849> chance<00:23:19.747> to<00:23:19.876> get<00:23:20.116> you<00:23:20.213> to<00:23:20.277> where<00:23:20.453> you<00:23:20.614> are<00:23:20.710> today?

00:23:22.443 --> 00:23:24.032
Yeah,<00:23:22.523> I've<00:23:22.764> got<00:23:22.876> a<00:23:22.941> few<00:23:23.245> thoughts<00:23:23.582> on<00:23:23.743> that.

00:23:24.561 --> 00:23:35.850
So<00:23:25.572> if<00:23:25.668> there—<00:23:25.973> to<00:23:26.005> the<00:23:26.070> extent<00:23:26.391> there<00:23:26.455> are<00:23:26.551> shoutouts,<00:23:27.353> you<00:23:27.530> know,<00:23:27.995> my—<00:23:28.075> the<00:23:28.156> first<00:23:28.477> job—<00:23:28.894> so<00:23:29.022> I'm<00:23:29.183> from<00:23:29.343> West<00:23:29.520> Virginia,<00:23:30.466> originally,<00:23:31.363> and<00:23:31.908> first<00:23:32.164> job<00:23:32.405> I<00:23:32.549> had<00:23:32.789> after<00:23:33.366> college<00:23:33.831> was<00:23:33.927> at<00:23:34.071> Kraft<00:23:34.327> General<00:23:34.568> Foods<00:23:34.968> in<00:23:35.353> New<00:23:35.609> York.

00:23:35.946 --> 00:23:45.336
So<00:23:36.250> the,<00:23:37.436> the<00:23:38.574> bright-eyed,<00:23:39.054> bushy-tailed<00:23:39.615> West<00:23:39.775> Virginian<00:23:40.256> shows<00:23:40.641> up<00:23:40.817> in<00:23:41.057> New<00:23:41.202> York,<00:23:41.522> and<00:23:41.618> my<00:23:41.762> boss,<00:23:42.019> David<00:23:42.275> Stern,<00:23:43.525> gave<00:23:43.765> me<00:23:44.422> a<00:23:44.502> shot<00:23:44.839> at<00:23:45.063> that.

00:23:45.528 --> 00:23:48.829
And<00:23:45.640> I'll<00:23:45.944> never,<00:23:47.050> I'll<00:23:47.803> never<00:23:48.027> forget<00:23:48.444> that.

00:23:49.630 --> 00:23:56.295
The<00:23:50.928> CEO<00:23:51.456> of<00:23:51.569> a<00:23:51.633> company<00:23:51.953> called<00:23:52.177> Senvéo<00:23:52.594> that<00:23:52.754> I<00:23:52.899> worked<00:23:53.139> at<00:23:53.299> 20<00:23:53.539> years<00:23:53.812> ago<00:23:54.116> gave<00:23:54.341> me<00:23:54.421> a<00:23:54.437> shot<00:23:54.757> to<00:23:54.917> have<00:23:55.014> my<00:23:55.158> first<00:23:55.414> general<00:23:55.671> manager<00:23:56.103> job.

00:23:56.344 --> 00:23:57.209
His<00:23:56.456> name's<00:23:56.680> Paul<00:23:56.920> Reilly.

00:23:57.866 --> 00:24:05.095
Probably<00:23:58.106> had<00:23:58.202> shot<00:23:58.844> a<00:23:58.908> job<00:23:59.164> I<00:23:59.244> didn't<00:23:59.645> deserve<00:24:00.046> to<00:24:00.142> have<00:24:01.489> a<00:24:01.505> shot<00:24:01.873> at,<00:24:02.050> really<00:24:02.290> just<00:24:03.332> took<00:24:03.508> a<00:24:03.573> wild<00:24:03.957> chance<00:24:04.759> on<00:24:04.919> me.

00:24:05.176 --> 00:24:12.582
My<00:24:05.336> predecessor<00:24:06.121> here<00:24:06.298> at<00:24:06.362> Trimble,<00:24:06.795> Steve<00:24:07.099> Berglund,<00:24:08.766> gave<00:24:09.007> me<00:24:09.247> immense<00:24:10.145> opportunities<00:24:10.786> along<00:24:11.027> the<00:24:11.107> way,<00:24:11.267> and<00:24:11.347> I<00:24:11.411> wouldn't<00:24:11.652> be<00:24:11.748> in<00:24:11.892> this<00:24:12.004> seat<00:24:12.229> without<00:24:12.533> him.

00:24:12.694 --> 00:24:21.991
I've<00:24:12.854> worked<00:24:13.030> at<00:24:13.094> Trimble<00:24:13.367> for<00:24:13.575> over<00:24:13.816> 18<00:24:15.259> years<00:24:16.461> and<00:24:16.862> have<00:24:17.022> had<00:24:17.134> a<00:24:17.198> chance<00:24:17.583> to<00:24:18.224> work<00:24:18.481> in<00:24:18.561> a<00:24:19.186> wide<00:24:19.507> variety<00:24:19.923> of<00:24:20.164> roles<00:24:21.190> over<00:24:21.366> that<00:24:21.671> time.

00:24:22.328 --> 00:24:27.938
And<00:24:22.953> so<00:24:23.610> individuals<00:24:24.396> like<00:24:24.572> that<00:24:24.780> have<00:24:24.893> been<00:24:25.678> absolutely<00:24:26.335> instrumental<00:24:27.361> in<00:24:27.682> that.

00:24:28.195 --> 00:24:33.348
I<00:24:28.243> also<00:24:28.499> think<00:24:28.804> that<00:24:28.964> there's<00:24:29.141> something<00:24:29.638> to<00:24:30.493> acknowledge,<00:24:30.993> which<00:24:31.235> is<00:24:32.041> that<00:24:32.283> of<00:24:32.993> privilege.

00:24:34.042 --> 00:24:41.026
It's<00:24:34.606> like,<00:24:34.848> you<00:24:34.929> know,<00:24:35.332> I<00:24:35.413> won<00:24:35.590> the<00:24:35.735> genetic<00:24:36.235> lottery<00:24:36.719> and<00:24:36.880> look<00:24:37.010> what<00:24:37.122> country<00:24:39.516> I<00:24:39.612> was<00:24:39.773> born<00:24:40.078> in,<00:24:40.239> you<00:24:40.399> were<00:24:40.560> born<00:24:40.833> in.

00:24:42.022 --> 00:24:44.191
We<00:24:42.649> were<00:24:42.906> born<00:24:43.211> on<00:24:43.612> third<00:24:43.789> base.

00:24:44.769 --> 00:24:54.136
So<00:24:44.914> let's<00:24:45.219> not<00:24:45.476> think<00:24:45.717> that<00:24:46.745> we<00:24:46.826> were<00:24:46.987> born<00:24:47.246> on<00:24:47.408> first<00:24:48.459> because<00:24:48.767> we<00:24:48.864> got<00:24:49.025> a<00:24:49.106> running<00:24:50.222> start<00:24:50.627> by<00:24:50.804> virtue<00:24:51.435> of<00:24:51.775> just<00:24:51.937> the<00:24:52.034> circumstances<00:24:52.891> in<00:24:53.231> which<00:24:53.473> we<00:24:53.780> grew<00:24:54.023> up.

00:24:54.185 --> 00:25:02.002
So,<00:24:54.444> you<00:24:54.541> know,<00:24:54.686> growing<00:24:54.929> up<00:24:55.026> in<00:24:55.091> this<00:24:55.252> country,<00:24:55.576> growing<00:24:55.802> up<00:24:55.835> in<00:24:55.899> a<00:24:55.915> very<00:24:56.145> functional<00:24:56.533> family,<00:24:58.443> very<00:24:58.675> loving<00:24:58.940> family,<00:24:59.089> I'm<00:24:59.139> already<00:24:59.238> multiple<00:24:59.454> steps<00:25:01.490> steps<00:25:01.682> ahead.

00:25:02.147 --> 00:25:12.069
And<00:25:03.109> I—<00:25:03.365> there's<00:25:03.605> this,<00:25:03.910> um,<00:25:05.144> documentary<00:25:06.074> on<00:25:06.427> Netflix,<00:25:06.972> and<00:25:07.052> it's<00:25:07.212> about<00:25:07.677> leadership,<00:25:08.398> and<00:25:08.735> it,<00:25:09.040> uh,<00:25:09.376> it<00:25:09.537> profiles—<00:25:10.178> it<00:25:10.418> profiles<00:25:10.883> a<00:25:10.915> number<00:25:11.204> of<00:25:11.300> different<00:25:11.685> coaches.

00:25:12.354 --> 00:25:22.457
I<00:25:12.374> think<00:25:13.047> it<00:25:13.079> was<00:25:13.224> 4<00:25:13.384> different<00:25:13.624> coaches,<00:25:13.977> like<00:25:14.105> Serena<00:25:14.490> Williams,<00:25:15.612> her<00:25:15.853> coach,<00:25:17.135> a<00:25:17.311> football<00:25:17.712> coach<00:25:19.059> in<00:25:19.219> Europe,<00:25:19.876> Don<00:25:20.117> Staley,<00:25:20.421> who<00:25:20.581> coaches<00:25:20.918> South<00:25:21.094> Carolina's<00:25:21.559> women's<00:25:21.880> basketball<00:25:22.281> team.

00:25:22.505 --> 00:25:26.849
And<00:25:22.569> they<00:25:22.649> had<00:25:22.906> one<00:25:23.066> on<00:25:23.162> Doc<00:25:23.387> Rivers<00:25:23.964> after<00:25:24.268> he<00:25:24.429> had<00:25:24.589> been<00:25:24.749> at<00:25:24.926> Boston<00:25:25.246> Celtics<00:25:25.727> and<00:25:25.791> they<00:25:25.871> had<00:25:26.032> won<00:25:26.352> the<00:25:26.448> title.

00:25:27.330 --> 00:25:35.475
Anyway,<00:25:27.651> we<00:25:27.811> talked—<00:25:28.035> he<00:25:28.067> talks<00:25:28.292> about<00:25:28.532> working<00:25:29.478> at<00:25:29.574> the<00:25:29.654> Celtics,<00:25:30.119> and<00:25:30.167> you<00:25:30.280> walk<00:25:30.536> in<00:25:30.616> the<00:25:30.696> Boston<00:25:31.017> Garden,<00:25:31.402> you<00:25:31.498> look<00:25:31.722> up<00:25:31.899> and<00:25:31.979> you<00:25:32.059> see<00:25:32.219> the<00:25:32.299> rafters,<00:25:32.700> and<00:25:32.764> then<00:25:32.861> the<00:25:32.925> rafters<00:25:33.438> all<00:25:33.911> the,<00:25:34.155> the<00:25:34.237> titles<00:25:35.116> that<00:25:35.214> they've<00:25:35.361> won.

00:25:35.556 --> 00:25:40.676
That's<00:25:35.784> the<00:25:35.931> expectation<00:25:36.533> in<00:25:36.615> that<00:25:36.843> place,<00:25:37.169> is<00:25:37.332> that<00:25:37.494> you<00:25:37.641> win<00:25:37.820> titles,<00:25:38.211> because<00:25:38.390> that's<00:25:38.635> the<00:25:38.716> history<00:25:39.205> of,<00:25:39.950> of<00:25:40.127> that,<00:25:40.353> uh,<00:25:40.385> place.

00:25:41.338 --> 00:25:43.840
And<00:25:41.515> there's<00:25:41.677> a<00:25:41.758> pressure<00:25:42.161> that<00:25:42.484> comes,<00:25:43.114> uh,<00:25:43.372> with<00:25:43.534> that.

00:25:44.002 --> 00:25:48.587
And<00:25:44.325> what<00:25:44.421> he<00:25:44.680> said<00:25:45.003> in,<00:25:45.471> in<00:25:45.874> that<00:25:46.020> documentary,<00:25:46.585> he<00:25:46.617> said,<00:25:47.004> you<00:25:47.085> know,<00:25:47.650> the<00:25:47.731> pressure<00:25:48.118> is<00:25:48.280> privilege.

00:25:50.831 --> 00:25:55.304
I<00:25:50.848> think<00:25:50.912> it's<00:25:51.090> such<00:25:51.397> a<00:25:51.736> profound,<00:25:52.688> uh,<00:25:53.124> statement,<00:25:53.980> um,<00:25:54.303> to,<00:25:54.545> to<00:25:54.803> think<00:25:54.981> about.

00:25:55.368 --> 00:25:57.645
And<00:25:55.449> I,<00:25:55.691> I<00:25:55.933> think<00:25:56.111> about<00:25:56.337> the<00:25:56.482> role<00:25:57.209> that<00:25:57.306> I'm<00:25:57.532> in.

00:25:57.709 --> 00:26:00.069
I<00:25:57.855> think<00:25:58.032> about<00:25:58.436> the<00:25:58.823> company<00:25:59.567> I<00:25:59.648> work<00:25:59.891> for.

00:26:00.198 --> 00:26:01.768
I<00:26:00.296> think<00:26:00.474> about<00:26:00.846> the<00:26:00.927> place<00:26:01.266> where<00:26:01.412> I<00:26:01.574> live.

00:26:01.817 --> 00:26:04.807
I'm<00:26:01.978> looking<00:26:02.302> out<00:26:02.399> my<00:26:03.218> window<00:26:03.635> at<00:26:03.731> the<00:26:03.860> Rocky<00:26:04.422> Mountains.

00:26:05.385 --> 00:26:07.665
Um,<00:26:05.867> I'm,<00:26:06.365> I'm,<00:26:06.862> I'm<00:26:07.087> lucky<00:26:07.328> to<00:26:07.408> be<00:26:07.569> here.

00:26:07.826 --> 00:26:08.805
I'm<00:26:08.195> glad<00:26:08.436> to<00:26:08.532> be<00:26:08.677> here.

00:26:09.239 --> 00:26:10.684
And<00:26:09.640> that's<00:26:09.817> what<00:26:09.961> I'd<00:26:10.058> want<00:26:10.202> to<00:26:10.299> leave<00:26:10.459> you<00:26:10.539> with.

00:26:12.065 --> 00:26:13.124
Rob,<00:26:12.306> thank<00:26:12.546> you<00:26:12.627> so<00:26:12.803> much.

00:26:13.413 --> 00:26:15.806
Uh,<00:26:13.831> seriously,<00:26:14.473> we<00:26:14.714> really<00:26:14.971> appreciate<00:26:15.340> you<00:26:15.437> coming<00:26:15.677> on.
